Delicious.

By Armrod |

This is a small, quaint restaurant with delicious food and incredibly warm and friendly waiters. I recommend the fabada soup and the bacalao. Great little spot that we’ll be returning to often.

A touch of Europe

By RandBMiami |

We have a few restaurants in Miami which maintain the character and ambiance of times past and places distant. My wife and I have been going here for years and it reminds us of family restaurants in Bilbao and elsewhere. No lunch menu and not inexpensive but the ambiance, food, presentation and service take you to another place and time. We should treasure such resource.

Excellent quality food at reasonable prices

By EJGMIA |

Had an early dinner night of Oct 5th, two couples. For starters we had tapas of Croquetas de Jamon, Pimientos Rellenos de Bacalao, Pulpo a la Gallega, Croquetas de Bacalao and Aceitunas Aliñadas. They were all excellent and all at $5 each! Main dishes consisted of Sopa de Ajo (spectacular). Garbanzo Frito, Callos a la Madrileña, Lubina a la Plancha, and Chipirones en su Tinta (Excellent). We drank Sangria at $18 a Jar. The whole meal was very good to excellent and service was attentive and professional. The check for four was $190, inclusive of tip. If you want quality Spanish food at a very reasonable price this is the place to be.

Great Tapas!

By j r |

We felt like we were eating in Spain all over again. The food is authentic 100%, we loved the stuffed squid, the "camarones al ajillo", the "pulpo" tapas. All of these cooked to perfection. The wines were really good, from Ribiera Del Duero, to Riojas, all of them were the top on our lists of favorite wines. We definitely recommend this place.

Small Spaniard Restaurant

By BassMaster G |

I have read a few of the reviews given to this restaurant and I must disagree with some of them. First of all, a good restaurant does not have to offer large portions in order to be "good". Unfortunately, here in Miami, people are used to big portions and based on that they rate the quality of a place. Needless to say, this restaurant offers normal size portions, at reasonable prices. The food is average for a Miamis' Spaniard restaurant. The general atmosphere is good, very family oriented and it feels like a small tavern. Going back to the food, the dishes are well served, products are not the best quality, but must say that I was impressed with the NY stake. It was cooked to perfection as requested, and the quality of the meat was better than a lot of steakhouses. The taste was amazing. Definitely, a must try! On the other hand, not impressed with the Garbanzos Frito or the ham croquettes; too much seasoning on the Garbanzos. However, the Codfish was excellent, nicely portioned with an incredible garlic taste. You can order it as it comes in red tomato sauce or just on the grill with just a bit of olive oil and garlic. I will definitely return.

Overpriced

By spencerusa |

Menu prices are high relative to the quality of the food and the ambience. Many larger family groups dining there, probably not paying menu prices. The Serrano ham appetizer with cheese was grossly overpriced at$16.95.The ham was not that good quality and the cheese was not much better. The grilled prawns entree was great but also over the top at $29.95. Not especially welcoming if you’re a gringo. Service was more perfunctory than friendly. There’s pull-in parking (if you are lucky) outside the strip of shops where the restaurant is located.

Everything was pricey but good .

By Vicky07Miami_FL |

This restaurant although not luxurious it is well known in Miami. First time I went. Asked for different dishes , pulpo a la gallega, garbanzos ( which I thought it was too pricey) . everything good but I think more expensive than it should be since its located in a mid-range neighborhood. nothing fancy and relatively small dishes.

A tille place with Excellent Cuisine!

By Alfred R |

This small homey restaurant has been at the same location for 30 years. Is a small neighborhood restaurant withe excellent Spanish cuisine!

Great Spanish flavor and typical ambiance.

By kubanische |

This restaurant does not look like much from the outside, but once you're in it breathes of a typical restaurant you can find in any town in Spain with hams and chorizos hanging from the ceiling, and old bottles of wine on dislplay. I have been going there since the middle 1980's and still haven't had a bad meal or bad service yet. The quality has been consistent and the flavor the same for all this time. I recommend it highly for a nice long afternoon of tapas and nice wine.

Great food & service overall

By dia4alf |

Fantastic tapas, good selection of wines and outstanding desserts. A great place for either a business lunch or family gathering. Good central location and access. A wonderful old school Spanish restaurant.

Great Food, Great Service

Great Food

By Joseph D |

Victor runs this restaurant wonderfully. Only the best ingredients, the best services, and the some of the absolute best dishes i have ever had! I wish i knew about this place many years ago. If you're looking for a great place to eat, this unassuming restaurant is one of Miami's best!

Good Tapas

By Robert H |

It has been a long time since I dined at Los Gallegos, so when I visited Miami a few weeks ago I stopped by for lunch. The place has been renovated since I was last there and cleaned up quite a bit. We had several different tapas rather than ordering an entrée. The stuffed squid in their ink was very good and the pulpo (Octopus) was awesome. Service was good and we had a very enjoyable lunch.

Excellent dinner with a cordial host - very enjoyable evening.

By James H |

Went with a group of friends and thoroughly enjoyed the evening, Restaurant is under new ownership and the owner, Juan, is doing a great job. He made certain that our evening was memorable and I'll definitely return. The tapas was prepared to perfection and our host was great.

Dissapointment for Moms birthday dinner

By Emy L |

They are over priced on EVERYTHING! Food without flavor, bland. Based on the prices you would think the main course meals would be of a decent portion, NOT. e.g. the rice portion is the same as a single serve fruit cup. My husbands picked boiled potatoes w/his meal and he got "1" potato. My son chose fries and got homemade chips and his meal was a NY steak. My chicken and veggies had not taste at all. Ceiling is covered with linoleum and patched together. Looks horrific. Didn't bother to serve more bread. We had to ask for it. To top off our experience, after mentioning it was my moms 80th birthday, the waiter wished her HB but they didn't bother to bring out a candle w/the desert to sing her HB. Very cold Spanish place and I'm not talking about the temperature. I certainly do NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Tasty little gem

By mwooduk |

My boss took me here today for lunch and apparently has known about this place for years! It was my first visit and I have to say that at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon there were only three tables taken in the restaurant but the food was excellent and the waiter very efficient. We had garlic shrimp, Spanish omlette (made with potatoes), ham and cheese and chorizo. The omlette slices were huge and the other dishes just the right size. Food was hot, quick and delicious! I will definitely return!

Friendly restaurant with good food

By BB1938 |

We went on a Sunday for lunch with friends for the first time, and were happy to find the manager in charge whose name is Domingo very welcoming, and the restaurant small but very clean. The food itself was good, I wish we would have had more tapas as they seem to have a good amount of different ones. We had their "caldo gallego" and then fish in Koskera sauce. For dessert Torrejas which is a good typical Spanish dessert which was tasty. All of this with a pitcher of delicious sangria. So although it is not an upscale gourmet restaurant, it is a solid Spanish fare place very good to go on a lazy Sunday!

Good neighborhood restaurant

By Juan k |

Los Gallegos is a small neighborhood restaurant that has been around for many years, in fact, it was one of the first restaurants to offer real tapas in Miami back in the late 80’s (the only place you could find pulpo a la gallega in Miami back then). The original owners were gallegos (from Galicia, northwestern Spain), thus the restaurant’s name. They did the cooking, hosting, and bartender. Food was incredibly good and during the weekends you had to wait over an hour –normally at the bar- to get a table. However, through the years the restaurant changed ownership more times that I can remember, and with each new owner, the menu, quality, and service changed, mostly for the worst, so I stopped going. After many years absent from this place, I recently decided to stop by for a beer and tapas as I drove by. I was pleasantly surprised as the current owner has fixed up the place rather nicely (relative to how it was before). It was on a Friday night and the place was almost full to capacity. Service was prompt, but not very friendly. Bread, water, and butter were served quickly. The waiter acted more like a butler, with little interaction, as the owner looked on near by, always with a stern face. My wife and I decided to just have caldo gallego and a couple of tapas which were also served promptly, no main course. The caldo was very good, I do recommend it. The pulpo we ordered was about average, so were the garbanzos and the chorizo. The crema catalana was good. I found the tapas prices a little high considering the quality and portions. I did not have any main course, so that may tip the balance to a more positive review. If in the neighborhood and feel like having Spanish food, it’s a good place to go. I may do that sometime and try one of their main dishes. I just wouldn’t drive a distance to try this place.

Hidden piece of Spain....born again!

By EJGMIA |

I had driven by this restaurant many times and had not returned to eat there for reasons mentioned in other reviews. I had the opportunity to eat there twice last week and was surprised as to the change. The food was excellent, the service was fast and the prices very reasonable. I had the Chipirones Rellenos (Stuffed Cuttle fish in Ink) the first visit and they were very good. The second time I was part of an eleven person family dinner and had the Bacalao a la Brasa (Broiled Fresh Cod) on a light garlic sauce. It was spectacular and you don't find fresh cod in many places in Miami, mostly the salted variety. The first dinner we had sangria and it was excellent. The second dinner we had four bottles of the house Ribera del Duero at a very reasonable price. The family dinner average $60 per person, including wine, while the first visit (2 per) averaged $35 including 1/2 jar of the excellent Sangria. At last an alternative to Rincon Asturiano! Welcome back!

Good tapas and food

By maggiet0813 |

Small place but good food and friendly staff. Tapas are good size and dinners are huge. I didn't see a type of potatoes I like so I asked if they have it and they said no but we will make it for you. It was very good. Prices are very reasonable.

Wonderful new Tapa on the menu

By j r |

You have to try "Mar Y Tierra" tapa, delicious! it transports you to Spain immediately, but the presentation and the taste, another favorite tapa of mine is "Ensaladilla Rusa", great tasting dish all the time. If you're in the area and want to eat authentic Spanish food, this is the place to visit. They also have a great selection of Spanish wines to choice from.

Nice, cozy, a little expensive

By maggiet0813 |

Went for lunch with my mom and aunt. The place is classy, small, has about 10-13 tables. It also has a small bar area with about 5 chairs. There is a variety of tapas and also meals. I found the meals prices a little high for the lunch crowd. The cheapest was grilled chicken (with 2 sides) for $12.95. Filet mignon was about $32. The bread was very good. I opted for 2 plates of tapas : Spanish omelette and papas bravas (spicy potatoes) which came to about $12.

Dinner out with my life partner

By Mickoonna |

I loved it. The price is right. Service was great. Had the ribeye medium rare which very seldom Is medium rare and it was perfect. We had octopus in olive oil which was "al punto" many people don't realize how good octopus is because it's normally cooked wrong, here it's perfect! A little while in the wall place that my husband knew about. Another reason I love him. Come over. It's worth it.

A Very Pleasant Surprise

By peripatetic43 |

We walked into this room thinking it was Cuban, but stayed for what turned out to be an excellent Spanish meal. I had suckling pig which was cooked to perfection...moist and tender meat with crispy, flavorful skin. My wife had a chicken dish which was equally delicious. The bread was fresh and tasty, the salad was the same. Service was perfect...no countless trips to our table to ask how we were doing, but our water glasses were never empty for more than a few seconds. I don't know much about the foods of Spain, but I know the difference between good food and mediocre, and this was good....very good. Recommended!

Tapas, ZarZuela, Paella, everything is good. Fresh & tasteful Comida Española.

By Dubal M |

Pulpo a la gallega, salpicon de mariscos, zarzuela de mariscos, paella, croquetas de bacalao etc. everything that I have tried has been excellent. And I can say the prices not expensive if you compared to other Rest. Españoles: exm pulpo a la gallega 12, salpicon de mariscos (fresh) 11, zarzuela 25. And the service are A+. They recommended a wine (BALBAS) that was delicious, 28 bucks the bottle.

Food is disgusting.

By Kevin ong |

Read the good reviews and decided to give it a try. The Sangria was the best part but was that good. Basically tasted like red wine was poured into a pitcher. Not the refreshing flavor of good house made (not pre-mixed) sangria. Next was the tortilla. Very bland and dry. The worse was the pulpo gallego. Very expensive for a very small amount of pulpo. Pieces were extremely small. The pulp was extremely tough and the worse part is that it tasted bad with a very fishy flavor. I even had to spit it out it was so bad. My wife is from Galicia and is very familiar with pulp. She mentioned how bad it was to the host/waiter/bartender/owner (not really sure what he was as he was the only one except for a few people in the kitchen) and he seemed to care less. Needless to say we will never be back. I am just thankful that I didn't get sick from the pulpo!

Not the best

By oscari995 |

This is a rather small restaurant that gets really hot in the afternoon (needs better Sun blocking treatment on the windows). The food is good but not spectacular and the service is definitely slow.

Delicious Spanish Food

By mab6 |

This restaurant has been around forever, but it had been years since I had last gone there for dinner. We went with another couple to eat there a week ago and the food was absolutely delicious. We had both fish and meat entrees, and they were all prepared wonderfully. Also, the owner of the restaurant is always there giving suggestions and making sure you are happy with your meal. I highly recommend it!

Not Kid Friendly and it definitely shows!

By georxt |

I dont mind the not kid friendly part, but the waiter acted as if we were disrespecting him for having our kids there. Never again. Food was average at best and definitely overpriced. And then the bad service? Food did come out fairly quickly...I bet they were dying to get rid of us. Mind you we went around 2pm so barely anyone there, and on a Monday!

Quiet, low key family style restaurant with delicious Spanish food.

By A. Robles |

This small restaurant is totally unassuming. Having said that, once you taste their devious food, you will surely come back. Their tapas are something special. They have a full small bar and good Spanish wines.

Top notch, traditional Spanish tapas.

By Dan B |

Ate at Los Gallegos many times when we lived in Miami, but it had gone downhill (dirty), and we found other spots. On a family visit, we decided to give it another try, and glad we did. Excellent.............cleaned up the place quite a bit. Spotless in fact. With tableclothes, etc. A small place on the corner of Red and Bird near Coral Gables. Probably no more than 8 tables plus a bit of counter service. Very traditional Spanish style tapas. Wonderful Bacalao croquettes, chorizo in wine, serrano ham, manchego cheese, excellent caldo gallego, sardines, one of the better tortilla espanola I have had............all in all, a great little spot, and we look forward to returning.

Delicious Original Spanish Tapas.

By Alfred R |

This little restaurant appears to be part of the old neighborhood. The manager knows almost everyone that enters by their name. Their food is of excellent quality and the taste is authentic!

In a strip mall, however, the fish is outstanding.

By ChinchinMiami |

5 for food. If looking for a special occasion place, this is not for you. Great Spanish tapas. Large variety of main courses. The merluza is delicious, as well as the bread pudding for dessert.
