Thanksgiving Dinner at Lost Lake

By Simpleguy22 |

Went to Lost Lake on Thanksgiving Day. One of the few places we found that was open for dinner. We had the traditional turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and cranberries. The food was good and a bit pricy, but it was nice to not have to cook and clean.

good breakfast

By Bookwoman2014 |

Stumbled on this after visiting Elliot Bay Bookstore next door. Good food, very good service (I was a single diner), but very LOUD. What is it with many Seattle restaurants and noise?

Good food in a hopping place.

By Charles T |

Stopped by for breakfast - the place was hopping. Great steak and eggs, a good Bloody Mary, and a slice of great pie. Consider the day won (by 7 AM)

great selection

By GrizFan1981 |

We went for breakfast and found the menu to have a great variety of selections in both food and beverages. It was very busy but service was good and food was excellent. Try a ginger mimosa! Would most definitely go again, if in the neighborhood.

Good diner style breakfast

By Mike |

Had the corned beef hash for breakfast. It was home made and excellent. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff!

Great food & service!

By JazzyJasmine |

First off, this place was off the main grid, but well worth the trek to get there. The atmosphere is a neighborhood diner, almost lounge like, with interesting history on the walls; if only those walls could talk! The menu is fairly typical but the preparation and presentation was outstanding. The young lady that took care of us was busy yet personable. Eggs Benedict with "browns" were a hit as well as the breakfast sandwich. The "browns" must be one of their signature items - a must have at breakfast! The server gave me a list of boutiques to check out downtown - best advice as I never would have made it most of them without her suggestion.

Can't wait to go back

By Michelle B |

They told me it was a diner so I didnt want to go there for a cozy dinner so we went for breakfast. So this is a cozy diner! No bright lights, yes booths. So wish I had gone for dinner. So wish I had eggs and potatoes (like my husband). So glad I had the very tasty bloody Mary

Delicious

By Alicia K |

This was our first stop in Seattle and it was delicious! It has an expansive menu with many choices. The biscuits and gravy is so good. It does get busy so you might have to wait a few minutes, but you can also sit at the bar. It's in a cute neighborhood, too, with many shops nearby.

Hipster Diner

By Tina H |

Needed some real food after many hours in Harborview with a family member. Good food. We had a party of 5 and everyone ordered something different. The service was acceptable, not great, and it was not busy. However, their Mexican Chocolate pie they had was AMAZING. They feature fresh pies baked locally at A la Mode Pies. Selections rotate frequently so it might not always be available, but if I had known it was that delicious, I would have tried to buy the whole pie!

Check this place out...

By Nory Y |

This place is well worth the effort of finding. When I walked in, I immediately thought of the cafe in the Twin Peaks tv show. Turns out, the owners modeled it after that. I had a wonderful breakfast--a breakfast burrito--although I have to say if they halved the portions there would still be plenty. I like a good, filling meal, but am a bit turned off sometimes by enormous servings. I realize that for some folks this might be a plus, so I wanted to add it.

Extraordinary customer relations

By Matthew F |

Simply put, I can't remember the last time I was treated so kindly at a restaurant. This is a pretty simple place, reminiscent of a diner/HoJo's from the 60's - and, since we came early, the prices were too (between 4 and 6, they run an "early-bird" menu, where you can get a cheeseburger, fries, and a pint of PBR for $3.99). But, as good as that was, what really set Lost Lake apart were the employees - every staff person, every one, from bus boy to bar back, seemed to be honestly happy to be there and happy to see you. After my $1 PBR, I asked our waitperson to bring me the brown ale or stout of her choice (they have a very good local microbrew menu). Unprompted and unasked, she prepared a sampler of 5 local microbrews, hand-labeled, and in a recommended order of consumption. Knowing that this might take a bit of time for me to consume, she also brought, unasked, a sampler of a local cider for my honey-bunny, so she'd have something to try, too. Extraordinarily thoughtful!

Loved it!

By Mae |

We loved this place! Went for breakfast two days in a row here. Stumbled across it while looking on Google for breakfast near by while visiting Seattle and liked the looks of the online pictures and it did not disappoint! I love the 60s-70s diner decor! Please never change! The food is great and it comes out faster then you can even imagine! All the staff are down to earth and I will definitely return!

Great!

By james o |

Great food and even better service. The hash was amazing and the staff very friendly. Highly recommend!!!!

Comfort Food

By luvtravlin53 |

most inventive, delicious comfort food with unique seasonings & seasonal items EXCELLENT hot apple cider. the staff was very friendly & remembered us & stopped by to chat on our many visits. close to Silver Cloud Hotel & Elliott Bay Books, will definitely return

Poor service

By 336oliverc |

All the servers were rude and inpolite. We were standing in front to wait for seats but many servers passed by walking in and out. Clean table, stop chatting but simply ignoring us. We have to stand for more than 10 minutes before someone reluctantly put down her broom to come over. Very disappointed this happened in Seattle one of the most popular area.

Hip dive bar? No

By Nathan1750 |

New place to look like an old dive bar. Tore down the best dive bar in Seattle, The Comet, for this place. The food is good but bar it not. The bartender had to look up the recipe for a gin and tonic. Go next door to Odd Fellows instead.

Perfect burgers and beers !

By yota2015 |

I went there a night after drinking and I had the most amazing burger!!!I then went every week! Service is excellent, deserts are great, beers are fine! The room not bad at all! Definitely a must visit place!

A capital hill favorite, went again and glad for it. Just know that you are going to wait

By Pepper |

This is a big noisy place with a class capital hill vibe- colorful waiters who are not obsessed with getting you in and out efficiently. Breakfasts are a big favorite here- so you better wait. But what you get for it are big portions, well executed eggs and good coffee- but you gotta like the scene. I have also been here once for a late lunch and grabbed a burger- it was very good - but it is capital hill type food- don't expect the unexpected.

Late lunch

By footdoctor7 |

Halibut and chips were good. Beef dip was good. People watching from the patio was interesting. Beer was tasty.

The menu reads better than the food tastes

By the_melv |

It's noisy, crowded, people spilling out on to the street waiting to get in. Large dining room, large cocktail lounge both filled with some of the hippest folks you'll likely see today. Apparently it doesn't matter what the food tastes like only that you are seen here. The menu promises some wonderful brunch dishes with a few unusual twists like the fried chicken on gravy covered biscuits. The problem is the chicken is so overcooked it is inedible. The grilled chicken breast served atop a nicely dressed kale salad is, also, overcooked to the point a knife does not cut it. I think the kale salad had been sitting under a heat lamp before it was served. I don't think anyone really enjoys a warmed kale salad. We've tried this place twice and have decided to forgo further waits in line and the long wait for the food to be served. It all looks so tempting on the menu and the execution is sloppy. The high point of this restaurant (both times we visited) is the red headed waitress. Genuinely sexy, sweet, fun to watch, beautiful in an old Hollywood way. If only the food matched her vivacity.

Old school diner, visit in off hours for better experience

By travelgalAvon |

Looks like an old school neighborhood diner. Went for a late breakfast on a weekday and there were no crowds at all. The server (Rhys) was attentive and really friendly. Had the eggs benedict and it was amazing. Also tried the Custard french toast and it was equally as good.

Not a bad place for lunch

By Winnie C |

Stopped in for lunch after a co-worker recommended this place. The atmosphere is cool, very 60's retro cafe inside. I ordered wings, tots and a Cobb salad to share with my guest. Everything was fresh, tasty and the portions were large. The salad was stacked super high but on a tiny plate, I could have used a larger plate so that I wasn't eating off the table...aside from that, everything was good! The service was friendly and prompt.I hear they have an awesome breakfast/brunch and the happy hour menu looks great as well (you had me at friend cheese curds and drink specials) I will defiantly be back!

Yummy!

By Alicia Santos |

Great comfort food! Tasty cocktails and delicious pie. Service was fantastic. Vibe was awesome! Music playing was fun. Breakfast all day long too :)

Casual Comfort at Lost Lake Café

By Beyond Borders |

Lost Lake Café is a solid go-to if you’re in the mood for a classic diner vibe with a few extra perks. Not only is it open 24 hours, but it’s also connected to a bar, which gives you flexibility depending on your mood brunch, late-night bites, or drinks with friends, it covers all bases. The menu prices are honestly hard to beat, especially in a city like Seattle. While the food can be a bit hit or miss, when they get it right, it hits the spot. Whether you’re craving pancakes at midnight or a burger with fries, it scratches that comfort food itch. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, and the place has a genuinely inclusive, LGBTQ-friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your time. That being said, the bathrooms could definitely use some extra attention in the cleaning department, and a little consistency with the food would take this spot to the next level. Still, it’s a lively and reliable option for a casual hangout.

My New Favorite Place

By Paul N |

This place is new but with a mid-century style. Great menu - I had eggs benedict pretty late in the day on a Saturday made just right. The staff is among the most laid-back on Capitol Hill but they have a certain charm. The bar area is generous and a great place to meet friends. This is the place to go to after shopping at Elliot Bay Bookstore next door. Prices are reasonable and I look forward to trying their burgers.

Classic Cafe With Lots of Options

By Matthew Moe |

Wonderful selection of food 24/7. The breakfast menu is by far my favorite with everything from Lost Lake French Toast to Biscuits and Gravy. The service subpar...slower than most establishments and the servers have forgotten parts of my order multiple times. The food is good for the price.

One of my favorite breakfasts in Seattle

By Kimberly W |

Love love love Lost lake!! A friend who had lived in Seattle took me here for breakfast. She told me it was open 24 hours and a great spot for early morning drinks. I ordered the Vegan Hash and knew I made the right decision when the server said "Great choice, thats my favorite". The selection certainly did not disappoint. Delicious flavors and seasoning on a HUGE portion of hash. My friend ordered a vegetarian omelet and it was also quite delicious. Fluffy eggs and fresh vegetables inside with delicious potatoes. They had a great selection for the non meat eaters as well as a wide variety for those who enjoy meat as well. I also felt the value was pretty good. $25 for two people (without drinks). Make this a stop while eating your way through Seattle.

Lost Lake, I need to quit you.

By Teacher A |

Don’t bother with this place. The food is pretty poor quality, and the service is absent or slow. I wonder how many people dine and dash here—I’ve always waited at least 10-15 minutes for someone to approach my table to take my order, and I’ve routinely waited much longer than that to get the check. I’ve had too many bad service experiences here, and I won’t be coming back again. I mean, where is my waiter right now? Where is ANY waiter, for that matter? Can I pay and get out of here???

Okay diner food

By Emily L |

This place was super busy and the service wasn’t great. Food wasn’t bad but we got pretty standard diner food (BLT and a chicken sandwich). We sat at the counter so we wouldn’t have to wait for a table. Just not our type of place but others seem to really like it.

For a twin-peaks cafe experience.

By loveDCA |

Lost lake is one of the classic Capitol Hill restaurants. They have limited patio dining, a main restaurant with counter service, and also serve brunch in their bar area. They offer Cafe Vita coffee, service is great, and the environment is Twin Peaks darkness with odd decorations that remind you that you're in the PacNW.

Great Hamburgers and Strong Cocktails

By Georgia L |

My friends who live in Madrona took me here for lunch on Sunday. The restaurant has a cool, old school vibe. The booths and the light fixtures are designed to feel vintage, even though the place was just remodeled a few years ago. The best part was the MOST DELICIOUS bacon cheddar cheese burger cooked Med Rare that you could imagine! My friend and I shared a Coconut Margarita - Which was okay.....and we each had a nice glass of stout. As the Terminator says, "I'll Be Back!" - absolutely!!

Good Food, Friendly Service, Very Loud

By Elynde |

We went based on the add in the Met. Food was delicious... breakfast served 24 hrs .. corned beef hash was delicious. Breakfast cocktails were well made. The furnishings are great. Only problem was the noise level. Another high ceiling place with the reverb of all the conversations was a bit much. Would still happily go back and hope for it to be less busy. Guess that's a good problem for them to have ..

Lost Lake Happy Hour

By LuAnn B |

Decided to try a happy hour in the Capitql Hill area in Seattle. Went to the Lost Lake and sat at the bar and had 1 dollar PBR (16 oz) and 2.99 cheeseburger and fries. We had great service from Marquetta our bartender, very friendly and super fast service. The cheeseburgers were really good and so were the fries. This reminds me of a dive bar and we loved it.

Hidden Gem!

By Jeff N |

This is a hidden gem! Great restaurant with a local neighborhood feel. Wait staff is friendly and as unique as the restaurant! A must stop!

Quirky and awesome!

By annagrace |

We went to Lost Lake every morning for breakfast on our 3 night stay in Seattle. We didn't realize until the third morning that they have a breakfast happy hour with really cheap prices on half sizes of eggs Benedict and biscuits with gravy. The breakfast burrito is awesome as were the huevos ranchero. Very cool mid century decor and friendly waitstaff made for a great time. They own the bar next door which has happy hour prices on drinks in the afternoon 4-6. Be sure and try the chicken friend bacon!

Great for breakfast

By Debbie F |

Walked a mile up steep hills to have breakfast here and, thank goodness, it was worth it! A bit small and crowded but that just added to the experience. Would like to come back to the bar.

Diner food and prices

By SWDCRED |

Went both times and it was a good place to eat. Nothing special but nothing to complain either. I would go just for breakfast and a quick bite.

Great Food and Great Staff

By Andy C |

The Poultine was terrific. The dinner, excellent. The pie, fabulous. A wonderful American diner with typical Seattle charm. We made plans to make this restaurant a regular thing. Everybody left stuffed and happy.

My visit to Lost Lake Cafe-

By brianjM2976TH |

This place rocks!! Great ambiance, and the food was fantastic, (breakfast) and plentiful!! Like stepping into a lodge in Alaska- definitely worth a second visit!!!

Great Lunch Spot / Awesome Neighborhood

By Alexandra P |

We stopped here for a lunch while exploring the bookstore down the street. To our surprise this place is a retro dream inside. Vinyl booths and barstools, the whole nine yards. The burgers, shakes, etc. were delicious and hit the spot after a long day of walking around. Definitely stop if you're in the area.

Hipster scene

By R T |

Twin Peaks decor reminded me of my childhood in Winnipeg; clearly I was the wrong demographic here. Service was poor; server much more interested in chatting with handsome guys at the bar than taking our order. Food was fine but nothing special; prices very reasonable and thank goodness the management did not add hidden service fees, a Seattle epidemic post the $15/hour minimum wage being instituted.

Platonic ideal of diners.

By Masha |

Welcome to the diner you’ve always dreamed about. That doesn’t mean it’s flawless, but no good diner is. It means they’ve channeled the platonic ideal of diners here: This is the red vinyl booth, 24-hour, white ceramic coffee mug diner from your Pacific Northwest fever dreams. Welcome. Seat yourself. Your kind but gruff server will be with you shortly. Truly, it’s a great diner. The menu is vast and easily adapts to dietary restrictions. The scene is adorable and inclusive and ranged from stylishly loitering teens to their grandparents, all lingering over coffee and conversation. This is a place you can bring a book to and dine solo or bring a crowd to after a concert. It’s versatile in its simplicity. Parking can be scarce in this neighborhood, but not impossible. Be prepared to walk a few blocks if you’re going at a high volume time. The service is great, but not fast, so relax and enjoy an excuse for a leisurely meal. Oh, and if you were thinking of ordering a side of collard greens? Do. You won’t regret it.

Lavendar Moon is Amazing!

By AddictedToAdventure |

Went here for a pre-G.N.O carb-up. The Lavendar Moon cocktail is by far the best lavender food/drink I have ever tasted! Prices were a little high ($10/drink) but for the Lavender Moon certainly worth it. Food reasonably priced.

Great breakfast.

By Charles H |

Had a great breakfast. Sat at the countertop to avoid the wait time for the crowd in line. Good amount of food for the price, and endless coffee.

Great food, Great drinks, Great Atmosphere, Great service!

By Mylez Edward |

I find so many of the reviews on this place entertaining, as some do not even understand what they are seeing in the Lost Lake. It is a perfectly themed diner and bar, divided into the two sections. It is not a dive, it is not old. It is a fairly recent build out, clean and incredibly well designed to give the look and feel of the late 50's- early 60's diner and bar. The service was some of the best we had in Seattle, and the food was fantastic. It wasn't cheap for what it was, but it was a great value for what we paid. I had the Ruben and it was as good as a Ruben gets. The bar was fun, the neighborhood interesting and quirky. A definite re-visit.

A delicious time warp!

By Erica R |

We stopped here for dinner before a show at the Barboza nearby. I had the Halibut, and my wife had a grilled cheese. We both loved our meals. The atmosphere in this place is fantastic, and the service is great.

Breakfast

By B H |

Someone recommended this place for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Great dinner atmosphere and no frills breakfast that was priced reasonably and good.

Breakfast....Pitcher of Mimosa's.

By kathleen a |

Great Breakfast and drinks in retro dining experience. There sausage and bacon was the all the rave at our table. Very fun dining experience.

Happy hour breakfast- yahoo!

By Sarah B |

And no - I don’t mean bloody Mary’s and mimosas. They have great food breakfast prices on their happy hour menu if you get there before nine during the week. The hollandaise sauce on their Eggs Bennie is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. And if you’re feeling adventurous their spinach black bean salsa cheese and poached egg is outstanding. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Hipster diner ambiance. Can eat in the bar too if you’d like a little more “atmosphere.”

Late Night Answer

By Deb H |

It was late. We had just finished a long evening displaying artwork at RAW in Studio 7 in SODO... and were starving! Thankfully Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge is open 24/7. There were 3 of us... and with a varied menu we were all able to order something different. Being from the east coast where diners abound, I considered Lost Lake as the Pacific Northwest's answer to our diners. Simple good food at a reasonable price. It was 1am... and the place was hopping. Security guards were in full view. Service was what you would expect. We satisfied our rumbling stomachs... and went home to bed. Oh... the fries were just so-so, but the cheesy tater tots were a huge hit! Our bill came to $28.

Tasty Lunch

By sobaytravelguy |

Our lunch was very good, with attentive service and tasty food. The space is retro, and works well with the menu. I'd recommend the turkey club! It is moderately priced and in the heart of Capitol Hill.

Approach with caution

By FoodEater1001 |

Good diner food Lively atmosphere Became very, very ill after visiting Became infected with new variant of flu Suggest getting food to go and not eating there Servers and employees did not wear masks

Great breakfast.

By Lee B |

Excellent food and service. Live coming here. The mood was celebratory the morning the election was called and very enjoyable.

Great food

By Peter B |

A 25 minute walk from the centre of town, great food and atmosphere, the service was very good and the cherry pie excellent!

Semi-typical diner atmosphere, but a bit overpriced for the quality and the service!

By Grace S |

Since Lost Lake opened last April (2013), I have visited quite a few times, whether that be for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, or a drunken late night snack. While I keep coming back here, there are quite a few parts of the restaurant that make me always questions "why" exactly I am coming back instead of going somewhere else. Below are the bullet points. -A ton of their servers have a massive chip on their shoulder. This can be understandable due to the cafe's being open 24 hours 7 days a week, but when you see multiple waiters/waitresses roll their eyes at you, snap back at you, or completely disregard your stance as a customer, it makes it hard to respect them and tip them well (thus continuing the cycle). -While Happy Hour is awesome, the prices have more recently increased, while both the quality and quantity have decreased. I actually went to their afternoon Happy Hour yesterday with a friend, and we ordered their deep fried cheese curds to share. They came out on the smallest serving plate I've ever seen (more often a pie plate than an appetizer plate, if that makes sense), and 1/2 of the cheese curds were just batter, leaving us with about 5 total deep fried cheese curds and a ton of gross batter. Plus, we never got our serving sauce, making them even more disgusting. Still cost $3.25 though. -A few months back, the cafe completely revamped its menu, which was great because there were wayyyyy too many options to begin with, making everyone's wait substantially longer. However, they also cut out a lot of options that were healthier and more dietary friendly. Since I'm a pescetarian myself, going to Happy Hour or just to a regular meal often means I have maybe a 1/4 of the options of my friends. Not great for a restaurant that prides itself on being a symbol of Capitol Hill and its people. Overall, if you want to try this place, I would recommend going once—and only once. After yesterday, I don't know when the next time I come back will be, but I honestly hope it will be later rather than sooner. Seriously, there are so many awesome restaurants and dives to check out in the area that actually have much better food, prices and service. Don't settle simply because of Lost Lake's popularity.

Great fake BLT

By FreshEireAdventures |

One of the better old fashioned no-nonsense diners in Capitol Hill I took a seat at the bar alone, ordered a cocktail and a Fake BLT (soy bacon - excellent) and fries and watched the world go past for a hour. Entirely pleasant and great value ($20 including tip).

Great Breakfast

By Tina P |

Great comfort food. i always order breakfast when i go and since it is open 24 hours that's any time of the day and you can order beer as well. I am partial to the biscuits and gravy for sure and leave very happy with my meal. It is a comfortable and casual place.

By Far the Most Terrible Service Ever!!!

By SushiMole |

My friend and I were in town for early morning appointments and had about 2 hours to kill in between. We decided to get breakfast and found this 24 hour spot in downtown Seattle. We walked in and sat ourselves. Within a couple of minutes our sever came over to greet us and get a drink order. I had a Bailey's and coffee, my friend had the Bloody Mary. I was happy to find that afterwards we had ordered Happy Hours drinks. She brought the drinks back and took our breakfast order. I ordered an omelette with rosemary potatoes. My friend ordered the pancakes, bacon, and sausage. That is the last time we saw our server for almost an hour. Now, just for some background information my friend and I are both owners and mangers of restaurants. We know good employees, and bad employees, good service, and bad service. This is by far the worst service we have encountered. We ate our food for a bit and enjoyed our drinks. Who knows how the food was? Nobody ever bothered to ask. Was I able to get any sauce to dip my yummy, crunchy potatoes in? Nope. After I finished my drink I waited to be asked if I wanted another one. No luck. With no water and no other beverage, I pushed my glass to the end of the table. Did she ever notice? Not at all. Then my friend finished his drink. We then pushed that to the end of the table. Totally unnoticed again. So then my manager mind starts looking around. Is she too busy? Are they understaffed? Did the kitchen catch on fire? And then I started becoming infuriated. With 5 single people sitting at the bar and 3 two tops (including our table) she was not busy. Considering 90% of us were already working on food, she had NOTHING to do. So what was she doing? Walking around wiping things down, stocking stuff, and "looking busy". Endlessly and ceaselessly talking loudly and at great length about herself to anyone sitting at the bar. 45 minutes spent with her never ending banter with whoever would listen. Flipping her hair around, adjusting her dress a million times. I looked to the other two tables sitting in the dining area. They too were lost forgotten souls. And they looked angry, as angry as us. By this point in time, we were completely done with EVERYTHING on the table. All pushed to the end to join our empty glasses from the beginning of the meal. STILL she did not come over. It was not until I slammed my cell down on the table after receiving a text that she bothered to stop listening to the sound of her own voice and FINALLY came over. "Oh, are you guys all done today?" Yeah, a half hour ago. And then, the final straw in the WORST service of my life. She printed the bill, walked over to drop it off, slammed it on the table and walked away. All while yelling over the restaurant to talk to a guy at the bar, not even bothering to look in our direction or talk to us at all when giving us our bill. So if the owner ever decides to read this... this is what you lost out on because of this amazingly horrible server named TONI. A bill that day that should have been well over $60, resulted in a bill of around $35. I can say the same about the two other tables sitting in the dining room, that desperately looked like they wanted to order more. That's a total loss of around $75 from the 3 tables in the building. The money from any future visits by myself and my friend. I would estimate that to be around $3,640 over the next year, considering my friend and I are both suckers for early morning/all day breakfasts. Plus, the recommendation of this place to anyone that we know. I have never written a review like this in my entire life and hopefully I never will again. But I could tell that this was not an isolated incident with this one server. This is her service style and it has somehow gone unnoticed by management and the rest of the staff. That kind of service in unacceptable and I cannot just let it go. On another note, we went to get a later breakfast (because we didn't finish the first one) after our meetings at a place called Americana in Capitol Hill. Great food, great atmosphere, GREAT SERVICE! Somehow that server got us to rack up a $90 bill, even though the menu items were less expensive on average. They got an amazing tip too, because they care about doing their job.

Funky 24 hour diner

By gr8fulmom |

This placed saved us after a concert at Key Arena. We were starving and with our teenage kids. We found this funky little diner on google and were god we came. My husband said the Philly cheesesteak was great especially being so far from Philly! 24 hour breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. We will definitely be back!

Great brunch

By Carly M |

Food was delicious, service was good. Only downside was we had to wait about 30 mins for a table but I think we arrived at just the wrong time (about 11.30/12pm on a Sunday). Would recommend!

Great Service in a Retro Space

By wamrazing |

Our daughters found this café while out on their own and enjoyed their breakfast there so much they sent us there the next day. It's an interesting space. Thought we had stepped back into the 40s when we walked in. Breakfasts were good...service from the staff was even better. They couldn't have been more attentive or helpful. Not sure I'd go back again only because of the number of great breakfast spots to try in Seattle, but it was a good experience for us on our two visits.

Good food... Fantastic service!

By The-swindy |

We stopped by the Lost Lake Cafe for a quick bite to eat. They have a great menu and serve breakfast all day! The downside was that the music from the bar was fairly loud and at times it was difficult to have a conversation. The service was fantastic!

Lunch meat Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.

Perfect Cafe

By Karen D |

Another lunch stop with co-workers. Great menu, well priced. Terrific service (and they were really busy) easily got a table though. Good beer selection, breakfast served all day. Good bar food.

Food is always great

By Tradingcomet |

A wide variety and everything on the menu is good. Service is slow and there is no air conditioning are the only negatives.

Breakfast excellence!

By TCtri |

All-around great food, coffee, atmosphere, and service. We both ordered scrambles but I don't think you'd go wrong with any selection. Neato retro decor stays true to the lost lake theme.

Hip Diner and Lounge!

By Rosie W |

It is truly a hash slinging diner! It is your basic food that is priced well and served fast and efficient. The Rosemary Smash potatoes were very good. The staff was friendly and working it! The bar/lounge had a good Bloody Mary. You can tell it is a local favorite because everyone knew each other as they came and went.

eccellent breakfast

By Mike P |

friendly staff...real corned beef. large portions. great value and 24 hour service. within walking distance to Broadway.

Lost Lake a gem

By arachne |

Husband and I, on a walk, wandered into this place on Thanksgiving afternoon. A diner right out of the sixties,it was packed with mostly young people. I had an easy-over egg with toast and really good hashbrowns, and he a bowl of chill. Turkey dinner looked good, too. Waitstaff was super-friendly and efficient. There's a cool pool room and bar in the building, as well.Glad we found the Lost Lake Cafe

Delicious!

By aprboo |

Brown sugar and pecan milkshake, get in my belly. Crab Cakes Benedict was amazeballs. Seat yourself.

Friendly and super good food!

By SaRaksha |

I loved this place! The place is a real "American diner of the 60s" kind of style, the atmosphere is cozy, food is great and the personnel is always friendly and nice. Plus, it is always open, and they always have their own menu available. Lots of vegetarian choices, too. But the fish is also good! :)

Good comfort food

By Lauren K |

We went in for brunch on a Monday around 11:30am and the place was full, even at the bar. I had the pancake breakfast sandwich which is sausage and scrambled eggs and cheese between 2 good sized pancakes. Sausage was very good. I shared it with my husband so I had about 2/3rd of it and I was stuffed. My husband ordered their special (written into the menu so not sure how "special " it is), the avocado toast with sprouts and a fried egg on top (extra). 2 pieces of multigrain bread (fairly small). He wished he had ordered 2 eggs but since he had some of mine, it was fine. Not cheap eats but prices on par with typical brunch places. They have a full lunch menu as well. Excellent waitress- managed the entire place herself but never looked harried or stressed. Even asked if I wanted more coffee in a to go cup when we were ready to leave. The coffee was pretty decent too. I would recommend this place.

Ok for Lunch

By comfortnurse |

This restaurant is close to the Elliot Bay Bookstore which was our destination so we stopped for lunch. We had BLT's and our friend had a cheeseburger and milk-shake. He loved the milk-shake but the rest was just OK. Service was ok too as they were at shift change.

Good Breakfast

By Gina B |

I had breakfast here recently with friends while on vacation in Seattle. This place was recommended by a friend that lives near there. Very cool & interesting place. Seems like one of those local places that should be on everyone’s list to check out at least once. Service was good, food & prices were as expected.

Great divey diner serving food 24/7

By targhee42 |

Seattle does not do breakfast very well, especially on the weekend. Coffee and a pastry may be ok in France but when you need fuel for a day of cycling, you need protein. Lots of places on Capitol Hill are open by 7 or 8 am, but they don't serve a complete menu until 9. Downtown is even worse. Hence my happiness at finding Lost Lake. A divey place in a divey block that hasn't changed much in physical appearance in the last 30 years (though I'm sure rents have gone way up recently with the influx of Googlites and Amazonians. Lost Lake serves food 24/7. They serve massive omelettes, three eggs each, and these delicious smashed potatoes (yukon golds baked first, then smashed and grilled). Caffe Vita coffee served as it should be (strong). Pleasant service and frequent coffee refills, plus gluten free bread if you ask. If you're in the mood to wake and bake, you can also have a breakfast cocktail.

Sweet diner atmosphere in Capital Hill

By PamLM |

Good diner food - hamburger and fries were delicious. Cold beer. Booths were comfy. Wait staff were a little stretched but very nice.

Late night dinner and pie

By Olivia G |

Stayed in Capitol Hill area and was glad to ask some people on the corner for a good place to eat at 11:30 pm and they pointed me in direction of Lost Lake. And am glad they did!!! Had carnitas burrito and great service. Came back another night for coconut cream pie and coffee - bueno!

Awesome biscuits & gravy

By JeffP5150 |

Lost Lake is located in the Elliott Bay area of Seattle. We walked straight in and got a table without any wait at all. They have an extensive breakfast menu, and the biscuits & gravy are amazing. It was so good we went back a second time for breakfast. Good service and great food. Definitely recommended.

Laid-back vibe and great service

By Melissa M |

Our breakfast was excellent. Portions are generous and the coffee was very good. The servers and bartenders are very friendly and attentive without getting in the way of conversation. Super casual atmosphere. We will definitely eat and drink here again.

Hopping place with good food

By travelgalAvon |

Place was packed inside so we opted to take a patio table. Service was a tad slow but no concern as we were not in a rush. Had Country benedict (biscuits and sausage gravy in place of english muffin/hollandaise sauce ) odd but satisfying. My daughter had custard french toast which she is addicted to as a local. Some call it a hipster place, just relax and go with it.

Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge

By Geoff W |

This is a typical American diner with burgers being the big focus. The food is good diner food but the service is average. I ordered a ginger beer with my meal and when I asked about it after waiting for 20 minutes, I was told that they had run out of ginger beer. When I paid the bill, I had to wait 10 minutes for my change while the waiter who took my money served drinks, delivered menus to other diners and talked with other waiters. I would have to say that it wasn't a great experience.

Breakfast

By EMSJFS |

It didn't disappoint. Great flavors. Top notch coffee (I drank 3 cups) and very generous portions. Excellent service, waiter was on it! We had the meat lovers Skillet and it was huge. It can be split up between 2 or 3 people

Big portions of good food

By Jay J |

Big portions of well prepared food, and the specials are always worth a try. Comfortable and casual atmosphere, like a lake house cabin, and no rush to get you out after the meal. One of our favorites in Seattle.

Disappointing eggs benedict

By Arthur K |

I came here for breakfast one morning with a few of my friends. I'm not a big fan of buying breakfast. It's a meal that anyone can make so I try to order stuff that I'd never really go around to making myself. That being said I got the classic eggs benedict as I've never even tried making hollandaise. The hollandaise was tasty. It was very well executed. I was disappointed with the English muffin and the egg though. The muffin was not toasted at all so the it got pretty soggy. Next, my egg was poached to the consistency of a medium boiled egg. 1/4 of the yolk actually ran down and soaked into the bread. In my opinion, eggs benedict is all about having the yolk soak into the English muffin to really be complete. My buddy really enjoyed his breakfast burrito though. Maybe I'll just get that next time.

Great Breakfast!

By LoftinAdventures |

Stayed in Capitol Hill and was told this is a must try. We went for breakfast before we started exploring for the day and wasn't disappointed. Food was fresh and flavorful. They had "home-fries" as we call them in Texas which made us feel like home. They had a different twist on them but still delicious. Great diner and a must try for a cheap and delicious meal.

Cutesified Denny's

By TravelMan90277 |

By the description and first-place listing on the menu, one would think their French Toast something special. Not at all. Same with the other breakfast items we ordered. NOT the place to go for breakfast.

Terrible Food

By Travlisforme |

I wished we had listened to the other reviews; the Lost Lake Diner is terrible for dinner. Perhaps its decent for breakfast? The place is filthy, the food was miserable, and we saw nothing redeemable about the place. Too bad...we love diners and had been looking forward to a great dinner at a reasonable price. In addition, the food took too long considering the place was empty. Lost Lake perhaps because they lost the recipe?

Disrespectful and rude service

By Carolin |

Both the behavior of the bar's bouncer and the behavior of the restaurant's service staff were more than rude and derogatory. We have not experienced such dealings during our entire trip through the US and Canada. We have left the restaurant as we do not tolerate this behavior.

Great breakfast for four

By pmjc |

Perhaps not that unusual, but it felt that way to us: all four of us put our breakfast in the "best ever" category. First up were the chilaquiles with black beans and soaked chips - reminded her of the best Tex-Mex. I went with a veggie omelet (skip the green pepper, please) and smashed rosemary potatoes. Fabulous. The corned beef hash eater proclaimed their unusual preparation - sliced / diced corned beef, mixed with diced potatoes, onions, peppers - wasn't really hash - but it was outstanding. Crisp and tasty. And the chicken and biscuits were topped with an optional chorizo and corn gravy - also made the "best ever" list. The service was a little slow ... but all was forgiven once the food arrived. Can't comment on the breads - which looked great, but we filled up on everything else. There was a crowd waiting to come in as we left at 10:30 am .... so come early.

Hit the spot

By MidAtlantic202 |

My first morning in Seattle and was searching for breakfast of substance. Lost Lake provided just that. The place seems very popular and I was lucky to grab a solo seat at the bar. Food was not fancy but it was good. Service was prompt and people watching was an added benefit.

Good diner-like food

By KommissarKen |

This Capitol Hill hangout is a nice place for comfort food. It's part bar/part restaurant, so it's got a good selection of beers. I had a BBQ Hickory Burger. My wife had corned-beef hash, which she said might've been the best she'd ever had. The service is a little hap-hazard, but not objectionably slow. Certainly a good spot, worth a return visit.

Great breakfast,

By AmyBlue66 |

My son and I went for morning happy hour. From 6-9 am they have specials on food and drinks. Breakfast is available all day. Very friendly staff and excellent food.

OK

By Brian101967 |

Food was pretty decent - standard diner/pub fare but tasty. Service can be spotty - there seemed to be only one server who could actually take orders in the dining area when we were there and it was pretty busy.

Good bar food, 24 hours

By Oclo812 |

Nice little 24 hot place in Capitol Hill. We got country fried steak, biscuits and gravy and a burger and nothing was spectacular but everything was hot and no one was upset with their meals. Good music assuming you like indie and all the hipsters walking in and out then you can handle

Breakfast

By Jagjeet B |

Very good omelette along with good coffee. Service was good. It is a 24 hour diner that serves good home made food . If you go you must look at the specials. They are creative and delicious.

Great Breakfast Omlette!

By goodoldroute15 |

Stopped in while visiting Seattle. Had a terrific fresh omlette. The place was hopping but the service was good. Would visit here again.

Late Night Awesome Eats!

By ah64fish |

My wife and I got there just in time to beat the late night rush. I had the country fried steak that was topped with gravy and as big as my head...SO GOOD! My wife had the best corned beef had I’ve ever had. This isn’t that stuff out of a can. This was real marinated and roasted corned beef. If you’re looking for a solid b’fast late night or otherwise, hit this joint up.

Funky, cheap

By Michelle S |

We caught happy-hour here and they had $1 pints of Rainier as well as really great food deals. I have never seen beer that cheap before.

Cheese curds

By Julie M |

It is what everyone near Pike and Pine is waiting for all night while they are out and about. The fried cheese curds are the most addictive little treat you could ask for. In fact, all the food I've ever gotten is good. I go for breakfast when I get off work at 7 and the omelets are incredible. Get the one with goat cheese. Their beer selection is pretty big too, and very well curated. I've loved every IPA they rotate. All this selection and real yummy diner food for marginal prices?? You can't go wrong. If you are not American, come to lost Lake and see what America is.

Great brunch spot!

By TravelPants5 |

We had brunch here and had a great meal! I had the huevos rancheros and it as awesome! My husband had the Benedict and loved it. The Rosemary potatoes were so good!! Busy spot with a diner vibe.

Great Place for Couples, Friends and Family

By Christopher Weis |

If you are looking for a place that has excellent food and awesome service this is the place. This diner is so amazing. Everything on their menu is a must have and they serve breakfast all day long so what's not to like already. The location of this place is prefect and the wait is never to terriblely long on the weekends. Sunday morning brunch is great with a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa. If you are going for dinner they have a great selection of local and international beers to drink. I highly recommend this place to anyone that is visiting Seattle. This should be a place to eat on your vacation to Seattle. You will for sure get the Seattle feel after eating here.

You must eat here its awesome

By steve d |

You must take a trip up capital hill at eat here yep there might be a que but it’s definitely worth the wait I had the best ever fresh granola with heaps of fruit and very tasty yogurt wow also the breakfast meat skillet was fantastic great decor great service

Large portions & great atmosphere

By JennyMc |

Had breakfast there at 9:30. Sat for two hours enjoying food and free refills of coffee. The meals were huge. We couldn't even finish them. I suggest ordering just eggs and a side for a cheaper but still large portion.

Breakfast

By ncaronna7 |

Very good breakfast platters of pancakes, eggs, french toast, bacon and sausage. Sausage patty was very large, perfect! Bacon was perfectly cooked, crispy, not chewy, not tough. Pancakes, eggs, french toast were great. Coffee and tea and brunch cocktails were enjoyable. Place is popular, so we had to wait 3-5 minutes for a table, but served quickly once seated, with continuous coffee and water refills. There are diner counter stools also, and several pies to choose some to go with coffee. Believe some outside seating also on sidewalk. Highly recommend!

Waited and waited, and waited!

By chaco71 |

Yesterday I waited for a seat for over 10 minutes inside the entrance. A 10 minute wait is acceptable, but during that time, not one person greeted us or asked if we would like a table. It was fairly busy, but less than half the tables were occupied. Most sat empty and dirty waiting to be cleared. We stood around looking for someone to seat us, but other than the bartender, the staff were absent. We finally left. I can't tell you if the food is any good, but the menu was nothing special and the smell of stale grease permeated the air. I think walking out was the best decision!

Good Food - Mixed Crowd

By jennifer s |

Get diner classics 24 hours a day at Lost Lake. Seattle is strangely devoid of many late night dining options - so this is a good place to have in your pocket if you're hungry in the middle of the night. Service is pretty good here - laid back and fairly organized. On my latest visit, I had the Mushroom Hunter's omelette. It was served with smashed new potatoes. It was a little heavy on rosemary, but tasty. Two of my dining partners had burgers - they found them pretty good, but too small to be the stated "1/3 Pound". Our other partner had a bacon and egg breakfast and raved about the eggs. The main thing when dining at night is that it *can* be quite loud in here...both because of the adjacent bar and fellow dining patrons. Half the time I've visited Lost Lake there's been a table that was too noisy. I don't like that - if you want a quieter dead of night meal, head to 13 Coins.

Solidly mediocore

By Johnny5123 |

We went there for dinner on a weeknight, it wasn't too crowded. The food was very average, nothing special but decent. The service was pretty slow. It looked like they were understaffed and had one guy waiting on all the tables and doing some stuff behind the bar. We probably wouldn't go back if we're in the area again.

BEST BREAKFAST!

By TheMiahMan |

Wow! What a find! We ate here twice while in Seattle. The food is excellent! We had the vegan hash (HIGHLY recommend!) and a regular eggs, toast, potatoes breakfasts. Both were wonderful! Second visit I had the special vanilla custard french toast with fruit ... the BEST! Not too much custard, just right! The music soundtrack each time was fantastic! Brian was our waiter the second time and he was the creator of the playlist. Great tunes and we found a new band to listen to PINK BOA! Great cafe!

Delicious and friendly hipster diner.

By Lori Nae |

First of all, everyone working here was awesome and friendly. We came after some bar hopping before it got busy and were not disappointed. In being a bit more on the hipster side, the prices are a little steep so when people refer to it as a dive - it's a clean dive. Dive is when you step on the floor and your shoes stick from years of grease. This was a clean place with recycled dive furniture. Food is not even greasy to obtain greasy spoon status. So! You meld what appears to be a dive with hipster and you get mid priced good food with a great atmosphere and awesome people. They didn't get a couple things right on the order but I didn't ask for it changed cause we needed to just eat and get home.

Great breakfast

By Dawn C |

We stumbled across Lost Lake and instantly fell in love with it. It is so cozy and the staff is super friendly. I also love their breakfast. Not the same ol same ol. They had great twists on omelettes, including vegetarian options. I would definitely go back he next time I am in town!

Incredible corned beef plate

By Andre M |

Went here for brunch and had the corned beef with eggs. Place was busy but didn’t wait long. Good service, great food. Enjoyed it so much went back a few days later to eat the same!

Sweet atmosphere

By Liftereyes |

Located in a cool urban part of town. Reasonably easy to find parking. I tried the salmon plate and was not disappointed.

Diner vibe

By Travis H |

Must try the house-made corned beef. It was amazing. Even at 0500, the place is alive and upbeat. The waiter/bartender was very attentive. I will be back to check out the night vibes.

Good food and open 24 hours

By Bradsky |

I had their sausage and gravy biscuits with hash browns. Really good and excellent service. Despite being really busy, the service was fast and the food was delivered hot and very good! Great place to go after hours.

Great breakfast welcoming feel

By James F |

We are over from England and they had an excellent cup of tea. The omelette I had was excellent and my wife really enjoyed the oatmeal. I would definitely recommend this place for a breakfast visit. Good service good food.

Food mediocre but nice atmosphere

By sarahalta |

The hostess loaned me her phone which was incredibly nice. The food was only alright (breakfast food) but I really loved the atmosphere and we were able to catch some of the Seahawks game at the bar counter.

Fantastic breakfast

By keithnewhook |

Went for breakfast around 10 am. Fairly full so we sat at bar. Waitress was really friendly giving us some recommendations for later in the day. Also had one of the best steak and eggs I've ever had.

Every Neighborhood Needs This Bar, With This Gathering of People

By Edgetheow |

Lost Lake Cafe was a nice treat, done up in dark wood, and Seattle Capitol Hill charm. The waitress was lovely and prepared the best manhattan to custom order that I've had. Their liquor selection included some excellent, unique bottles. The shuffleboard table in the corner was small but fun. Very nice treat. If this bar were in my neighborhood, I'd be a regular. Top shelf.

Fun place for breakfast

By lydia37 |

Lost Lake Cafe is a fun place to swing by for breakfast. The food is good and there are decent sized portions. Lots of good vibes and the wait staff is efficient. Be sure to check out their specials

Bon petit restaurant

By Sly |

I went to Seattle with my family to spend Christmas for 3 days. And we've found this restaurant who was open on the December 25 and have a christmas special. The place is like a old tavern but the food is just like the one your mom do, i taste turkey (with sauce)with mashed potatoes and with cranberries sauce plus stuffing. the portion was generous and it was delicious. The service was super fast and everybody enjoy their meal, the turkey salad, burrito and burger were all excellent. I think this restaurant despite the wait ( they didn't take reservations), is among the very good in Seattle and at a very reasonable price, middle class went there every day. If you passed in Seattle take a bite at this good restaurant.

Sunday Brunch in Seattle

By JourneyJen |

In the midst of Capitol Hill, near Elliott Bay Bookstore, sits Lost Lake Café. I had brunch here on a busy Sunday morning. The restaurant had a steady stream of traffic, but my party was seated promptly. The menu offers a variety of options for vegans and non-vegans, alike. Everyone in my group got something different and we split a pitcher of mimosas. The service was friendly and attentive and our order was delivered promptly.

Nice little Gem

By Travelora |

So this is my second trip to Lost Lake. The place is earthy and real. The kind of place I wish I had around the corner from my apartment. The wait staff is excellent. On my previous trip. We did have a little bit of a wait for our food but that is more a testament to the popularity of the place than a slow kitchen. The portions are a hearty size. We were in a big group and they were very accommodating. I had the breakfast burrito. Was good. Although I don't get the fascination with having potato's in a breakfast meal!? Can highly recommend this place without reservation.

Hot chocolate & pie 5 stars!

By Dana S |

I grew up in Seattle but haven't lived there for 18 years. I met up with my old college friends here for a reunion and enjoyed conversation over wonderful hot chocolate and Mexican chocolate pie. They were playing old school 90's music, a lot of stuff from local bands and from when I was in high school. Awesome atmosphere. I love restaurants that have a cool laid back vibe, good service and something warm to bring back good memories or create new ones. I will return on my next visit!
