It was our last night in San Diego so my husband made reservations at Lou & Mickey’s. We’ve eaten there before so we were looking forward to an excellent meal and dining experience. The evening was NOT an excellent experience. The food was great but the service was awful. I’m not sure what was going on with our server Tiffany tonight but she failed terribly. She was unfriendly and didn’t check on us to see if we needed anything or even to see how the food was. She didn’t clear the dishes as we finished a course , even though we stacked them at the end of the table nor did she even thank us for coming in. I know Covid has changed a lot of things and businesses are short staffed so you may expect to have slower service or things not to be perfect but tonight the service was the worst I’ve ever had in a fine dining restaurant. There’s a lot of great restaurants so be careful how you treat people because we easily can and will give somewhere else our business!!!

Parking is a problem - consider Uber. No valet service. Dining room has sports bar vibe - too loud to have a conversation. We moved outside when a group of 6 sat down next to us celebrating a birthday. Outside has heaters (this was in early June) but two train tracks very near complete with bells and lights. For $150 including tip, two of us shared a 6 oz filet (cooked properly), calamari (too dry) wedge salad (good) key lime pie (good), no alcohol.

Overall this place is overrated. I wrote on Open Table the service was good. I’m going to update that here at the end of my review. The food is over priced and just isn’t good. Maybe they had a bad night in the kitchen, but steaks that cost this price better be decent, and they aren’t. The drinks were the best part. Save your money. Here’s the best part (sarcasm). They personally reached out to me after my review on Open Table. They sent me, two months later, a hand written letter and a gift card. Saying to give them another try. Well, good thing I had some foresight to check how much was on the card as I plan another trip to the area. Card literally has $0 on it. Haha. Jokes on me, I guess, for accepting the card that I didn’t ask for. A simple apology would have been fine. To treat me like a chump, well I will make sure my friends and colleagues stay away from this mess, too.

We visited on September 6, 2021. Their portions are very large. My wife and I split a salad prior to our main course. My wife had the garlic shrimp and I had their signature filet. Both were fantastic. The sides are meant to split, so we shared the mashed potatoes. To top it off we had Key Lime pie for dessert. Our server Kyte was phenomenal. The manager Michael even stop by our table to check on us. It was a pricey meal, but a wonderful experience and dinner.

Situated at the bottom of 5th lies a steak house. But it does a good fish selection. Tried the swordfish which was enjoyable. Staff good. Location central.

Great location if using the Marina or Convention Center. Service was great. The food was good but not great. A basic steak and seafood place with little imagination. Pricey for being decent.

Fancy, but not too up scale. Relatively expensive, but it is fantastic ambience in the Gaslamp district across from the convention center. My son and I had excellent food and good drinks and enjoyed every minute in here. Our waiter was a very knowledgeable guy about the menu, the area, made us feel right at home. If you want very good food and not afraid to pay for it, stop in.

This is not inexpensive, but it is delicious. I had the filet 3 ways and my husband had the ribeye. The steaks were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. We had the parmesan mashed potatoes for two as a side and these were great, as well. Great for a special occasion!

The welcoming here was fantastic. Even though I came alone, I felt very welcomed. Atmospheric place. I ate pasta at the bar and the bartender fixed very good drinks. This is a place a gladly would have visited also with my family or with friends. Good food and very friendly staff.

Loved the location and being able to sit outside and watch the happenings on the street. Menu was a little pricey but not anything different than other dining locations in the area. Steak was great but fish and chips was wonderful as well.

We were at the restaurant in San Diego at lunchtime. The food was excellent and Alex served us really well. High praise.

In town for mom’s 80th bday. Dinner was fabulous. Everything cooked perfectly, though the presentation was lacking. Waitress was great. Location right in the mix able to stroll around before walking back to hotel. Going there again next time in San Diego without a doubt.

Nice ambiance. Great service. Everything was very nice except 30 day dry aged steak for $82 that lacked flavor and was largely bone and fat. In fairness, might try again.

Whenever I am at a convention center conference this is the go-to place and it never disappoints. The streaks and fish are what they are known for, but the chicken is also excellent. Great appetizers and sides as well. They are able to accommodate large parties. Dining here is not a quick experience so don’t come if you’re in a rush, but if you would rather sit and enjoy the meal.

Expensive steak house. Old style service. Well located in downtown San Diego. Expect to pay $100 plus per person without alcohol.

Had dinner here the first day in town and it was super delicious! Our waiter was from the Bronx and had us in stitches while still being professional and helpful. My Chilean sea bass was phenomenal, lovely crunchy crust & flakey body. The sautéed spinach w/garlic was yummy, and everyone at the table devoured everything quickly. My key lime pie dessert (the only dish I forgot to photograph) was perfect, just tart enough, creamy & unctuous with a tasty crust. Absolutely recommended!

The atmosphere here is impressive and while our server was on top of his game, the kitchen struggled to keep up. I feel bad for the servers... The Kumamoto oysters were awesome and a rare find. The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection but presentation on metal plates in a plastic tray did no justice to the presentation of this delight. It would have been better to transfer the Filet to a plate where the sides could also be placed and provide a greater experience for the eyes. If you are looking for something different and the feel of an old time setting, this is a place to visit, but be aware, there is a price to pay.

Wow, great steaks and seafood. Wet and dry aged beef was available. Our steaks were prepared perfectly and the service as good. They appear a little short handed, as they just reopened back up to 100% capacity. If you are looking for a a good steak/seafood place prior to a game, this is your place.

Had the 60 day aged porterhouse steak, perfectly cooked! Lobster tails and sides were tasty. Jeff was our server. He did a great job. Will return.

Fantastic location that you would think would lead to weak service or food quality but both were awesome. Highly recommend the Dry Aged Steaks and the wine list. The selection of Oysters was fantastic. But the most impressive part of our visit was the quality and friendliness of the staff who were all top notch.

We had an excellent experience here! We ate here for our last night of our trip to San Diego. The wine our waiter recommended was perfect. The flavor of the steaks were incredible. The only issue we had was both steaks were undercooked. My husband and I both ordered our steaks Medium. I still thoroughly enjoyed mine even those it was about Medium Rare. My husbands steaks was much more red, and while the flavor was delicious, it really was much more undercooked than he prefers. Aside from that, the restaurant was great!

My husband got the steak (said it was the best he ever had!) and I got the sea bass (the best I ever had!). Atmosphere was great. Service was great. A little pricey, but definitely worth it!

The food drinks and dessert were very good. The service was fantastic. And the restaurant is located in a great part of San Diego where you can walk around to other bars, shops, art galleries and the like. Really pleasant place to spend an evening. Very short walk from the convention center and Marriott Marquis.

I cannot say enough great things about our evening here. Service exceptional. Atmospheres exceptional. Cocktails exceptional. Food EXCEPTIONAL. Bar far my favorite restaurant I’ve eaten in in San Diego. We had a party of 4 and shared one of the steaks for the table. So much food and a fun concept. Artichoke appetizer as well as the baked goat cheese. Out of this world good. Beet salad and the burrata tomato salad so fresh and flavorful. We shared a few sides as well.

The restaurant looks good and it’s more private that the others. You are away from the loudness of the up street bars. Just next to the Gas Lamp District Sign. The food was really great!!

Absolutely first rate dining. Best location in town. Great menu with outstanding entrees, bodacious sides, and craft cocktails to keep you coming back. If Asterious is your server, you are in luck for a great dining experience. Our meal was among the finest we've enjoyed in San Diego. Our entrees included beef, seafood, and shellfish and all were perfectly prepared and presented. One. Great. Meal.

Very grateful for the service , the warm meal and hospitality at 1pm in New Year’s Eve. Assuming things will become more celebratory later in the evening …we chose to celebrate the new year early. We spent $247.00 w/o tip. I, on my departure, ask for the Paper party hat- but they could absolutely, no way could Not oblige me. They did however say I could have a tiara which I declined (because I received one on my 2019 celebration with Lou and mickeys). In all fairness, I live downtown SD. I entertain many at this location and have never been disappointed until today- who knew all over a $.05 cent party hat!! Thanks for the embarrassment and humiliation during my last visit.

The ambience is perfect--leather booths, dark wood, a warm and inviting place with just the right amount of lighting. This in itself is hard to find. Service excellent, server perfectly friendly but not overdone. Lots of seafood options for starters and excellent dry aged steaks that were perfection. A wonderful evening.

Hostess was extremely rude which didn't set us off on a great start. Should have been our first clue to head somewhere else. Portions are very small and overpriced. Sauces are flavorless. Alacarte menus are so over rated. I realize this place gets busy on game night and I'm hoping its due to the cocktails and location. Because the service and food are just okay. I wouldn't go again.

Some might say why order fish at at Steakhouse. I made that mistake at Lou and Mickeys but for $48.00 I expected some edible. What I got was a macadamia nut dusted hockey puck. The halibut almost seemed like it was mash-up of fish parts compressed together. Dry as a bone...not one ml of moisture in it. The other folks at the table were also not impressed with their steaks. The waiter was trying hard to up sell appetizers, drinks, etc. Run like hell from this place. Way past its prime.

Had a great sunny lunch on a Sunday with the family. Great food, ambience and service from Jeff. I need to try those good looking steaks next time. Our cousin who is is about 6'3" and 30 years younger than us had one that looked like 5 pounds of cowmeat and it looked great...and he finished it too. We'll be back!

Excellent oyster selection which illustrated the different tastes. Sublime sharer bone in rib eye. Perfectly cooked steak. You pay the price, you get the quality and the service. Superb meal

Sat outside - late afternoon. Was not busy at that time. Server, Jeffrey, was informative and attentive. The Oysters, Crispy Coconut Shrimp and Salmon were delicious. The Calamari was good, but nothing noteworthy.

My review would have been a 4-5, as it was our second time there as a family. Unfortunately, this time we had some problems that caused me rate this lower than our previous experience. The food and service was really good, but my son ordered a filet and when it was brought out, there was hair on his filet. We told the staff, they took it back and cooked him a new one. The flow manager (I suspect), brought it out, apologized for the delay then asked him to check that it was cooked appropriately like he sent the first one back because it was under cooked. They ended up giving him a free dessert, which felt insufficient because of the problem and the fact that the meal was hundreds of dollars. The server was great and everything else was good, so I feel bad about this review, but it left something missing because management wasn’t great with our dinner.

We ordered the goat cheese appetizer, a salad, two vegetables and a 30 oz 45 day dry aged bone in ribeye. Everything was really good except the steak was really tough. Service was a bit slow so after waiting around we finally just ate the steak. We had ordered their chimichuri sauce which is so delicious nit makes anything edible. Halfway through dinner our server came and asked how things were. Great except the ribeye is really tough. He said OK and that he'd be back. The next time he was back was to offer dessert and then our check. If you want a steak I'd suggest trying another steakhouse.

Great food and service. This trendy restaurant offers great service as well as great food. You certainly get what you pay for with this place.

I flew into San Diego the night before a conference and had been traveling all day. I was tired, but wanted a decent meal, nothing flashy but good food and a glass of wine. Walked around the Gaslamp district to stretch the legs and reconnoiter options. Lot’s of good options but none that jumped out. Finally found my way to Lou and Mickey’s door and was set. It reminds me of old school Chicago steakhouses. I had a great steak with a couple of oysters to start and a terrific glass of wine recommended by the bartender. She was very friendly and helpful but not overbearing at all. A very enjoyable meal followed by a walk down to the water and back to the hotel to call it a night.

Camera of the Super Bowl worries looking for a fantastic meal and got just that - there were 12 of us I went out and, while expensive, it was very much the best meal we had in San Diego

I really wanted to love this place. Now I will admit I am not the candidate for a Steak house, but my husband is an absolute carnivore and I am a pescatarian so usually fine something awesome to eat. We wanted a relaxed lunch and this place was super quiet at 11.45, we noticed the two tables next to us were given bread and we were not, I thought it was strange, but didn’t realize it was the norm until someone told me how great the bread was and they’ve had it every time. We ordered the crab cake appetiser and a porterhouse with sides and I had coconut shrimp with rice for entree. The crab cake was good- tasted nice and full of flavour. I was excited for my entree. Unfortunately I was served freezing cold rice and 4 coconut battered shrimp which were absolutely disgusting. As soon as I bit into one I noticed that they were full of water and squishy with a very off taste, the dorsal tract was still intact and it tasted so bitter and rancid. I couldn’t eat it. The waiter came to ask if everything was ok and I discreetly tried to tell him that it was bad and he was really unhappy. Took my plate away and we didn’t see him again until I paid the check. My husband said his steak was great, and I even said this when spoke about my food. Now, they did remove the shrimp from the check but the whole attitude of the waiter left such an atmosphere that my husband and I sat in silence for the remainder of the meal. I also was super sick later on that evening, which I knew would happen. I would have even left a 4* based on my husbands food if this was handled better by the team, this place only seems to be interested in you if you’re spending $200+ each on a meal or they don’t give you the experience everyone else has.

We went here tonight with a group of coworkers and it was amazing! Our waiter did a fantastic job and was very helpful with suggestions for the food and the wine. He was attentive and everything we had was SO GOOD! The oyster sampler was a hit, as was the goat cheese app. Several of the guys got the American wagyu and the girls got the filets. Everything was flavorful, tender, and the sides were tasty, too! And the crème brûlée…yum! I’m sure it was quite the hefty price tag for my husband’s boss, who was paying, but we all left very full and very happy!

Amazing steak. Great old fashioned attentive service. They can split the orders and the sides as portions are quite large. We enjoyed the patio with the heaters.

We went to Lou & Mickey's after a long day at Comic Con. There were a couple of open tables on the patio, but they were being held for reservations, so we sat at the bar instead. We were told that a table would be ready in about 30 minutes, and that estimate was accurate. We got a call that the table was ready, but by then we had decided we would not stay for dinner. The appetizers we ordered were lukewarm at best, and we were disappointed in them for the price we were to pay for disappointing quality. The pros of the establishment: location, location, location. And we were impressed with the hostess and bar staff, even if the kitchen staff fell short. Judging by their overall ratings, Lou & Mickey's may be worth a visit, but perhaps not when the kitchen staff may be overwhelmed by high demand.

Wonderful steak dinner in Gas Lamp. I was worried this restaurant would be "touristy" with not great food because it is located on a very visible corner of Gas Lamp district, across from convention center, & near baseball park. Definitely the opposite. Outstanding food, we had a 45-day dry aged steak. Their dry aging room is glass so you can see all the meat. Something we have not had or seen before. All the food & drinks were delicious. The service was very attentive, everyone very polite and considerate, we were not rushed. Also typical patio seating to take advantage of the nice weather in San Diego. It is on the expensive side.

We visited Lou & Mickey's on July 28th and loved our time here. We had reserved in advance and found that they were very accommodating when we had to change timings beforehand. Our server was also very friendly and attentive to all of our requests. Would definitely recommend (especially the steak and bordelaise sauce), and looking forward to coming back next time!

The food, service and ambience is a great experience. Three had beef, all cooked to perfection and prepared in different ways, and all greatly enjoyed. I had swordfish prepared with a light lemon sauce, tomatoes and capers--awesome! The appetizers were good--we had the seared ahi and teriyaki filet tips, and the sides were varied. Our wait person was helpful and engaging--had a great time!

We enjoyed a memorable dinner at Lou & Mickey's. The food was superb. Everything was amazing from the Peruvian Bay Scallops to the Ribeye and all the various sides, but nothing can top the service you get at this amazing eatery. Our server, James, was kind, funny and put up with whatever "special" requests we threw at him. We will definitely go back next time we're in San Diego.

Lou & Mickey's is a stupendous restaurant. We were there on a Saturday evening, their busiest night. It is rare for a restaurant to score a solid 5 in all areas, but they did. Service by Amanda was fabulous. The atmosphere just terrific. Every food item was perfect. The restaurant manager Michael Holst checked in with us to be sure all was well. Overall, one of the best restaurant evenings ever. Thank you Lou & Mickey's for a wonderful evening!

My date and I had a bit of a disappointing visit here on Halloween, but it was late in the afternoon before all the festivities kicked in .... Our server seemed more annoyed by our visit than happy to welcome us, so we responded by only having one cocktail and an appetizer .... The location is fantastic, and I'm sure the food is good, but it will have to wait till another time if the service is this poor when there is hardly anyone there

Walked in for lunch, Bey nice young lady welcomed us and complemented my wife on her dress. Good start but downhill from there. Ordered fish n chips and three spaghetti with shrimps. When drinks came, was told that they had run out of French fries (I was expecting proper chips) and would inmind if they served bbq chips, I said fine ...was hungry it was 4pm. Fish was deep fried (well over fried) not beer bartered as per menu and chips were rock hard potato crips. Asked for straws for soft drinks chap came with straws and threw them on the table and walked off. End of meal waiter come over and ask everyone to pass over the plates, glasses and napkins to him we did so but thought it strange. Wouldn't fo back and dont understand the door sign "Lou & Mickeys world famous blah blah

After 29 times in San Diego culinary trials we hit the jackpot. Our first time here and we will be back. Right at the convention center and a delightful server Lauren. Bravo to the staff for a beautiful evening with family

A classic steak house with a clubby feel. Excellent wait staff, highly skilled bartenders, and all the beef you can handle. Nice patio area too, but it was too cool that evening to enjoy it. Classic cocktails were prepared perfectly. We will be back!

We were at attending a conference at the Hilton Bayfront during that week, and we were a group of about 20 diners. We had made reservations in advance, and they set us up in a closed room. The ambiance is very nice, as is the decor. The service is where our visit went to heck. I never saw such unfriendly waiters in the many restaurants I've been too...downright rude is what they were. The service was so fast you'd think that they were trying to get rid of us. At one point I was talking to someone and I didn't hear the waiter say "sir" since he had my soup...he then almost yelled "SIR!" to get my attention...serious attitude trouble. The steak wasn't that good. There was a minimum charge due to the amount of people we were, and our bill came in somewhat under that amount. So instead of offering us coffee or wine to "top up" the bill, they simply added the extra amount. I spoke with manager at the end of this experience, and she seemed to not understand why her waiters were so rude and offered some wine and gift cards to make up for the lack of service (which was nice of course). I'm sure that there are some good waiters in this restaurant, but we didn't have them that evening.

Been going to San Diego for over 20 years and always saw this place at the entrance to the gas lamp district. Got there around 1015PM and sat outdoors of the bar. There seemed to be no customers inside, just outside. Christina passed us be a few times without acknowledging us. When my friend got back from the restroom he finally got her attention. After the second drink I gave her my credit card to close out the tab. Once again she goes by us several times so my friend approached her for the bill which she said she didn't take my card. She reached into her uniform pulled out a few cards and he identified it for her and I finally got my closing tab. Other then the bartender it appeared there was one other server for about 10 tables that were being occupied. For two beers and two shots with a $41 tab at what appered to be a high end restaurant service was disappointing.

We came here for our anniversary dinner, based on a referral by a local, and we are so glad we did! This is an old-school steakhouse, but with modern touches. The service was perfect, with our waiter (I forgot his name. Ugh) giving us just enough information on their aging, preparation and choices. I've eaten at many fine dining places, and the Filet of Medallions 3 Ways (peppercorn, Bearnaise sauce & au jus) was the best steak I've ever eaten. I order my steak medium well; it was perfect. Each sauce was delicious in its own right, but my favorite was the au jus; it highlighted the ability of the chef to season it just right, without overdoing it. My husband ordered his steak medium rare and it was just right. He ate every bite and said it was excellent. As is the standard, all sides are separate and are for 2+. We ordered the scalloped potatoes and...OMG they were exquisite! We wanted to keep eating them, even though we were full. I got a Temper Tantrum ( A blend of rums, fresh oj, passion fruit, and pomegranate syrup... Swizzled with crushed ice). It was a nice change from my usual vodka drink. I couldn't drink more than one, but it was a nice tropical treat. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant! Right up there with Mastro's and Smith & Wolensky NY.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff! The food was delicious, though a little slow to arrive. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience!

We arrived in San Diego for a business lunch and needed something relatively upscale and close to the convention center. It was April and a little cool, but very comfortable as we sat outside. Lou & Mickey's obviously specializes in steak and seafood and does all those things well. I had salad with crab meat and crab cakes and both great. The crab salad tasted ultra-fresh and the crab cakes were meaty, with seemingly few fillers. My business partner had a steak, which was probably the best steak he had in San Diego and by his account was good, not great (we're from the MidWest, with no shortage of great steak houses). He gave it a B+. The atmosphere is 1960's supper club, calico floor, leather booths and white cloth tabletops. Nothing trendy, but that's not what you want from a place like this. Solid, classic surf and turf - an easy choice for business or family.

this is an amazing place to eat. their steaks are one of the best steaks I've ever tasted. it has outstanding service as well. it isn't very kid-friendly and is made out to look very fancy and exotic. hands down the best steakhouse in San Diego.

Visited 2021 after 1st lockdown. The service was very friendly. The cocktails were very good, particularly the margarita verde. The manager, Michael, personally greeted us while we were there.

It was a pleasure to go to a restaurant that almost deserves the classification of being "classy" had it not been for the paper table "cloths". Atmosphere, menu selections, wine choices, background music all pointed to Lou & Mickey's being a high end establishment. Our server Araezou was attentive and quite menu knowledgeable.

YUM!! great food, drinks & staff. Location is on the corner. Offers both indoor & outdoor seating. Def recommend. A tad pricey, but cool

I wasn't sure what to expect. We were there for a corporate dinner, we had pretty much the entire place reserved and our meals were pre-ordered. While sitting at our table, I noticed a glass encased area across the room. This was their on site meat aging room. It was at this point I knew we were in for a nice steak. I had the filet and was not disappointed. All the sides brought to the table were also outstanding. I never looked at the menu, however I'm guessing this was a $50+ dollar per steak sort of place. Visit with confidence.

My waiter was Dustin. He was great. Very nice and informative. The teriyaki filet bites were quite good although a bit spicy. I had the American wagyu ribeye which was amazing. The decor inside is also really cool old steakhouse.

I ordered a filet mignon and it was very spicy and the fries were soggy. I asked for the fries to be changed and they came the same. Very bad!

This is located right by the Gaslight entry sign. We sat on the outside patio. I had the fish and chips... did not like it. Wife had a steak. I only have one thing to say. It's too expensive for what we got. Decent service.

Located right in the heart of the Gaslamp, Lou and Mickey’s never disappoints. The calamari, the steak, and the crème brûlée were absolutely delicious. My dad ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes, and a side of brandy peppercorn sauce, and couldn’t have been more pleased. I ordered the filet mignon medallions “two ways” with mashed potatoes and enjoyed every bite. Jessica was an amazing server, always ensuring our drinks were refilled and making sure we didn’t need anything. We also received a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating my dad’s birthday (milestone birthday) and was so appreciate of that. Overall, great place, great service, and amazing food. Have been going here for quite some time and will continue to do so.

We had lunch here twice because it was good and the bloody mary's were excellent. The waiter gave us a long spiel about how wonderful the steaks were. We didn't try them because they were REALLY expensive, but it would be fun to blow a bunch of money on a great steak!

Once more after an year I've revisited this restaurant for a lunch with friends during my stay in San Diego, so here it is what we have found: - the restaurant was loaded at lunch time - since 2 conventions were in San Diego at the same time (and people have to eat) and due to the fact that the place is located very close to the convention center. - we've been seating outside - it is very nice in the California sunshine - but get there in time after 12:15-12:30 when you have events in town, this place can be full. - waiting time for the orders was also higher than usual - about 35-40 minutes (hence we ordered a starter). - service - due to this load is dropping to the average level - so don't expect full attention since the waiters were literally running with orders and food from table to table. Still, drinks came as ordered and not mixed and the food was still sizzling so they've tried their best. - menu is not that extensive still you will find a lot of options either steaks either fish dishes - or even salads if you are going for something light. - food - it was excellent - the steaks were done exactly as expected and even that everybody ordered different we all got the cut cooked to order. Meat was tender and juicy, really the kind that melts in your mouth.(I will point out the rib-eye that I had, seasoning was minimal still it brought out the taste of the meat , it was not overwhelming at all - I do recommend you try it). The Mahi - Mahi that my friend got was also highly praised. Overall excellent quality food. Don't forget to order a side salad - since is not coming by default with your steak or fish. - prices - I would say mid-range nonetheless the quality you get for your money puts it in very good price/quality ratio. Overall a very nice place - conveniently close to the Convention Center , excellent food, I do recommend you try it when you are in San Diego.

picked this place by the name. nor disappointed. just the opposite. very satisfied. filet mignon was so tender you could cut it with a fork. service was excellent. they comped our desert for our anniversary the chocolate cake was delicious. we will return when in San Diego.

Really really good food. Good quality seafood and THE BEST fish and chips ever. Great portion, great quality fish and cook to the perfection. Just sad that I was too hungry and forgot to take pictures :(

Reassuringly busy, fine dining yet relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent and the portions huge. Not a cheap dinner but typical pricing for the area.

Had been to Lou & Mickey's before and really enjoyed the first visit, can't say the same about the 2nd visit with all their excess charges for my group like the 17% charge so they can pay their booking agent??? Paid $3000.00 in advance and since I did not make my per person charge because I brought my own wine in and they charged me $20.00 corkage per bottle really just to open a bottle? which came to a $260.00 charge which was not applied to the quota total. All in all, they were a bit greedy especially when they charged me an additional $430.00 room charge. The service was good but I was disappointed in the appetizers or the lack of them on the plate, not very impressive. If I were every in San Diego again and needed to book a group dinner, I probably would not choose Lou & Mickey's again.

Convenient location next to the convention center, this place is a great place to stop for drinks and a casual bite.

We both had the French onion soup which was very tasty and my partner had the seared tuna and asparagus as a main. The tuna was cooked perfectly. I had their take in the British classic, fish and chips. As someone who was raised on traditional fish and chips, Lou & Mickey’s made a very good attempt. The beer batter was light and the cod was firm and fresh. French fries instead of thick-cut chips, but well cooked and tasty. A little expensive but worth it for the quality.

Lou & Mickey's is a fantastic restaurant in the Gas Lamp district of San Diego. we enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the patio while enjoying the atmosphere of this touristy area. This place was very very good and service was absolutely professional. I'm sure this place gets very very busy for dinner and evening as its such a nice area. The prices are a bit higher, but you get what you pay for .. the linguine and Clams was fantastic and steak tacos were some of the best we've tried.

As a family of 4, we stopped by for a late Sunday lunch. We had each chosen our entree (around $25 each) when the waiter suggested we just go for a shared Porterhouse with chips and salad. As it’s famous for its steaks (and we didn’t want a heavy lunch) this seemed like a great idea. I asked how much it would all be and he said around $100. What arrived was a small T-Bone, a good sized Cobb salad and one portion of fries but, truthfully, it was only really big enough for 2 people. We ordered an extra portion of fries to supplement it. When the bill arrived, we were disappointed to be charged $90 for the steak and then separately for salads and fries. Together with sodas, the bill was $155 ( excluding service) which was a lot of $$$ for very little food. To be fair, the steak was very well cooked but we just felt like we had been sold a pup.

When I was in San Diego this year, I got an invite for a business dinner at Lou & Mickey's . On of the place I know from all the trips I went to San Diego - and it is a higher end restaurant. So yes, invitation accepted and here is the summary of this experience. Location - on 5th Ave, in San Diego - right across the street from the Convention Center and from Hard Rock hotel. If you arrive by car there are limited spots on the streets - so you may need to park you vehicle somewhere else and walk to this spot. Very good seating capacity with some private rooms too - we were in the "Red Room"(good enough for like 40 people). Service - very good - nothing to complain on the matter. Food - since it was a "preordered " menu , the options were limited but very good. For starters we got some cheeseburger sliders and teriyaki chicken - very nice and tasty. I also ordered a clam chowder - very nice in terms of taste, now the oyster crackers , where interesting but I would have expected some house made croutons. As the main dish , beef fillet mignon with a side of mash potato and asparagus - the beef was very very tasty ... Prices - well it ain't the cheapest restaurant in San Diego but it is definitely very good. (been here before and for sure when return to SD I will be back when I can). Overall a very good place from my perspective - I do recommend you try it.

Historic steak restaurant in the "Gaslamp" district of San Diego. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and cooked as specified. Sides were ample and served "family style." If there was a disappointment, it had to do with the menu. The menu online showed "prime-rib" and crab legs; however, the night we dined, neither were on the menu. Should you have a preference for a specific cut of meat, I suggest you call prior to making a reservation, as time and circumstance have a way of changing the menu.

My son and I went to Lou & Mickey's for dinner at 4:55 pm on 6/ 14/2023 appx 2 hrs before the Padres game. We were seated immediately and our waitress came over after a few minutes. Synopsis: Ceasar salad was okay nothing special but the fried calamari was soggy in oil and came out cold. We ordered 2 NY strip steaks at $62.00 each that took forever to come out (maybe it was between shift lunch to dinner) and I was appalled. They were low-quality steaks where you could buy better steaks from your local grocery market. Upon the first bite I took, I could tell they were frozen and defrosted. Low quality and mine had tons of fat al around it. The bill including tip was appx $220.00. Waste of money' I hope management /ownership reads this because they need to step up their A-game. The sliders my son and I had the following night at Petco Park were better quality file/ beef than the garbage we were served at L and M. A few days later, I realized this has to be a tourist trap. So many other steak houses around in San Diego. Don't waste your money here.

Very good calamari and octopus. Welcoming at the door was not good but beyond that everything was fine. Service and attention. It is unfortunate that they didn't have the mahi mahi

I stopped here on a weekday afternoon. It wasn’t crowded. The waiter was quite knowledgeable and very nice. All the food was great but the dry aged ribeye was amazing. Would love to go here again.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to eat somewhere other than the hotel restaurant. I wanted somewhere that had fresh seafood and a bar where I could sit. The concierge suggested Lou & Mickey's. I was somewhat skeptical given that it is a tourist restaurant and specializes in both steak and seafood, but it was nearby and I was tired, so I decided to try it. I am glad I did. I could have had a solo table seat, but I enjoyed sitting at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, attentive, and helpful. I tried various beers on tap before settling on one. I preferred to have a couple small plates, rather than a large dinner, and the menu provided lots of options. Having just flown in from the frigid Northeast, I enjoyed the open air setting. The patrons at the bar were friendly and many were locals. I imagine it gets crowded and noisy in the high tourist season, but on a January Sunday night, it was quiet. I enjoyed it.

Wife and I chose this restaurant as our special “treat” before continuing our road trip. We were seated promptly. Staff including our waiter “Robert “ performed awesome. The whole experience was “old school fine dinning”. Expect to pay for that. Clam chowder and coconut shrimp were fabulous. Our steak we both agreed was cooked perfectly inside but definitely had a harsh“charcoal” taste, on the outside.

This was our first visit to Lou and Mickey’s, considering we have been coming to San Diego for years for Comic Con, we now wish we had been before. On first appearance it appears very fancy and high class which is not my vibe but the staff were so welcoming and the happy hour prices so good we thought ‘why not!’ I can not recommend the old fashioned cocktails enough! Oh my word! They are outstanding! Top five best cocktail ever! As for the oysters which we had never had before! Delicious! The waiter was so kind and considerate considering we were novices with oysters. I am now a convert. Love, love them! Worth a visit! Will go again!

I went here for a group dinner. The waiter was great. The bread was great. I ordered a 90 day aged ribeye and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly and was awesome. It’s also very cool inside the restaurant.

Right in downtown, gaslight district, you see this nice place. It has a 40’s style ambiance with formal dining. There are a lot of seats and we were with a party of 6. Got a round table. Which was convenient. Service was good, the lady that helped us was almost always spot on. She only forgot something once. We had a main dish and desert, steak with mushrooms, broccolini (sauted) and fries. The steak was exceptionally good, rib eye, NY strip, and filet mignon. It all was very good and tasty. Some of us finished off with desert. Crème brûlée and key lime pie. Particular the key lime pie was a humongous portion. The price was also extraordinary. Yes we had good steak, and yes the service was good. But we had more than 129 USD per person. That is a lot of money, Can’t say it is not worth it. But seen the location i believe that you can get the same in a B spot for 20-30% less. But hey!? Who does not want to dine in the fancy gaslight district! It was a lot of money yes, but it was not to waste. That is sure

We loved this place. Probably our favorite meal. The service was excellent. Hubs had steak with rolls, su jus and horseradish! I had meatballs and we shared the goat cheese! It was divine.

We expected a great experience and were quite disappointed and will not go to Lou & Mickey's again.. First, the hostess wanted to seat us (2 couples) right next to a very large party. We had made the reservation a couple weeks ahead and it seemed it should have been intuitive to a hostess that we'd at least want to able to talk with each other. She did however, at our request, find us another table in a much quieter part of the restaurant. Catherine, our server, was friendly enough when she was by the table with us, but she was frequently missing, and we had to ask someone else to go find her on at least 3 separate occasions: 1) a drink was delivered wrong & needed to be replaced, 2) we wanted more wine-soon, not when the meal was over, 3) we wanted to pay the bill and leave - she brought the check, but then didn't come back & didn't come back. The steaks were good. It would have been helpful had she told us just how big the potatoe side dish was, and at least suggested that one would be enough. I'm sure she just thought we were cheapskates and didn't get the message that the low tip was commensurate with service (actually it was pretty generous for the substandard service we got). The brocolli was terrific, the asparagus was overcooked. This place simply did not come across as repeatable.

We were two for lunch. Service and food were great, prices reasonable. Had sirloin and fillet which were really tasty

What a way to start our Anniversary/ Business trip to San Diego! Such a beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere, staff were very friendly and the food was amazing!

My husband researched San Diego and found this gem. We had planned other restaurants during our vacation but actually came back a second night. Our hostess, Nia, and our server, Ava, were wonderful! Both were exceptionally friendly, accommodating and patient with us. There are so many great options to choose from it was a bit hard to be honest so it took some time to narrow down our dinner selections. Of course our eyes were bigger than our stomachs on our 1st visit so we had to come again a couple nights later. We sat in the main dining room facing the convention center the first night and just off the bar in a booth right on 5th Ave the second night. Both locations are great. I really liked the semi-outdoor seating off the bar although traffic & train may be a little noisy for some but the breeze and atmosphere was great. We both took the option of the 30 day aged steaks that they cut daily. I must admit it was the best steak I've had in quite some time. The baked mozzarella was rich and wonderful but be prepared - its a cheese log - it is not small so you better have at least 3-4 people to take that thing on. So good! You will have a good size bill but this establishment did not disappoint and it was worth it for a well appointed dinner and outstanding service. It is definitely a fine dining restaurant and the pricing reflects that.

Lou & Mickey's - outstanding food, poor service at our table. After a day long exhibit event at the Convention Center I met my wife at Lou & Mickey's. Started outside and it got a bit breezy and colder. We asked our server, when she wasn't busy talking with the big English Bulldog table, if she had a table inside that we could move to. She said yes, we moved inside and ordered. We had our food delivered by another server. Drinks by another and our server never came back to ask about our food, our drinks (we had consumed them and had empty glasses) and to see if we were finished and wanted dessert. My wife went to find a manger and she did. I think his name was Carlos. He got us our dessert and had our server deliver French press coffee. Like I said eh food was great. The Manager bought our dinner and we left the appropriate tip, for the poor service we got, based on what dinner would have cost us. She provided poor service and we rewarded her with a nice tip. Much of the staff was in the outside dining area petting the English Bulldog and Frenchy that the people outside had. Did they wash their hands after petting and getting drueled on by the bulldog? Lets hope.

The food, service and atmosphere were incredible. There’s an electricity in the air and the excitement is palpable as you dine on incredibly great steak and seafood.

Great service and pure “old school” steakhouse vibe ( real wood paneling - - big chairs - room that ages the steaks visible). Price of beef is “by the oz” and higher the longer the beef is aged. my ribeye was over $100 and well worth it!

This downtown steakhouse was near the Hilton Bay Front, where we were staying & recommended by the hotel staff. Yes, excellent filet, better than we've had almost anywhere. Drawback is that even though it was late at night, this restaurant was extremely noisy! We couldn't even hear each other unless we shouted. This changed our entire mood, where it was difficult for each of us to enjoy our filet. Best part of our meal was the New York Cheesecake shipped in from New Jersey (Frank Sinatra's favorite we were told). Yes, even though prices were very high on everything, cheesecake definitely worth it.

I had no issue getting a table for a Thursday night dinner as it was quite empty. My server was polite and responsive. I enjoyed the salad and filet medallions. All sides to steaks were an additional order & shareable. By the glass wine menu limited. Atmosphere felt more old than romantic to me.

I sometimes feel guilty ordering fish at a restaurant known for Steaks, but my guilt was short-lived in this case. What a great restaurant, with a very historical atmosphere! We had 11 in our party and the service and timing of getting our food was flawless. I love steaks, but like to keep my intake reasonably scant each week. Had I known we were going here, I would have forgone a few cow products earlier in the week. With that said, their seafood is off the charts good. They have a seafood tower for a table appetizer and it was very, very good. I had their Salmon and it was done to perfection. The sides were served family style, so getting back to the impeccable service and timing of feeding the ELEVEN of us seamlessly, takes on new meaning. Our table ordered some bottles of wine, which seen very much to the liking of those who partook, but......they also have some great IPAs there too. Great evening, great food.....don't miss out if you're in town!

Went in for an early dinner on the 4th of July we sat at the bar the bartender made a great suggestion the 5th Avenue. Then we sat down in the restaurant for dinner Jose made great suggestions about the food and wine. I had the clam chowder and Filet. My girl had the Macadamia crusted Halibut delicious. Michael, the General manager was kind enough to buy my girl dessert after he found out it was her birthday great experience.

I was in SD on business and ate at Lou & Mickeys and I must say, it was the best meal I had the 3 days I was there. From the calamari, the steak to the au gratin potatoes- the food was excellent! The service was fantastic as well and yes I will be back!

Super good standard. Aged meat was simply outstanding, juicy and amazingly seasoned. Incredible service and great wine list.

Good food, great service. Greatnselection of scotch. Unfortunately left my favorite hat here and they could not locate it.

We selected this spot because they had a festive marquee. Perhaps that was where we went wrong but we’re from Nevada so it’s par for the course. The table was lovely and the bread was good. We each got a drink and my cocktail was nice. The server was fun and got to us right away. We order coconut shrimp to split. For $17 we got 3 medium sized shrimp. Ok. The waiter had warned us it was only three. The size was disappointing but whatever. We also ordered a tomato Burrata salad to share. The Burrata was really tasty but the tomato was still green. And I don’t mean green like it was an heirloom (it was) I mean green like it crunched like an apple. Yikes! I then order a glass of wine which was the same price per glass as a bottle costs at the store. Ok, costs are high but wow! My partner gets his steak which was tough to cut let alone eat. It was at least cooked to mid rare as asked for. My food does not arrive. 3 different servers come by and ask about it. Seems the kitchen forgot it. 10 minutes later my fish and chips arrive. It’s a fine dish. Not great. Needed salt. Certainly ok for street food, maybe not for a nice place. They offer a desert for the trouble but we just asked for an appetizer to be taken off the check. We pay and tip. But really?! For $175 I was way underwhelmed. I may have gotten comprable food for $60 at an Applebees. 2 stars ONLY because the server was amazing and the vibe was cool. Do not recommend.

We were celebrating... family event, the long time awaited to come here... unfortunately the service was not that good... The food was fair but ... There is a lot to do in this traditional place.

I was trying to impress a potential client and my staff but we unfortunately went to Lou & Mickey's. I was a bit worried because the location is on the corner of a very touristy / convention / trolley area, but it looked like it could be a good steakhouse. All 4 of us order the filet mignon. The first person ordered the smaller filet, medium well and butterfly cut (to ensure it was cooked well). Two others ordered the small filet, medium...and I ordered the large filet, medium. ALL FOUR STEAKS CAME OUT VERY RARE. I can eat my steak medium rare, but this was far too raw for me. All of us sent our steaks back to cook further (but as we all know, reheating steak really ruins it). The side dishes then became cold. The person who had the medium well, butterfly cut steak was shocked at how raw his steak was. We complained and they replaced one of the several side dishes and they discounted one of the steaks. The manager even couldn't even come to our table to say sorry. The entire service and food experience were poor. It's just a joke that a steakhouse doesn't know how to cook steaks!! We will never go back. One more thing - it was really expensive, like Ruth's Chris (which we love). Unbelievable. We later found out there's a Ruth's Chris just down the street. Do yourself a favor and skip this place and go to Ruth's Chris.

Destiny and luck, but mostly availability, had us visiting this place twice during our Sand Diego vacation, for lunch and dinner and both times were pleasant, delightful, and stress free. This restaurant is just steps from the convention center and at the threshold of the Gaslamp Quarter, and is probably one of the best nearby options for lunch and dinner. The ambiance is laid-back despite its pricey steak menu, after all, Lou & Mickey’s aims at being a fine steakhouse. The service is friendly, polite, expedite, and hassle-free. Regardless of how crowded it was, staff managed to assign tables in a swiftly and comfortable manner. Of course, a reservation is always a good idea, especially during highly demanded events at the convention center. Waiters were also superb, with that classy yet friendly steakhouse touch where they treat everyone as a regular, and no matter how hurried and busy they were, they always behaved in the friendliest way, plus expedite and knowledgeable about the menu. Food is prime quality and steaks are top notch, and it all comes with a considerable price tag, though reasonable within the steakhouse tier. Overall, throughout our couple of visits, we had the cheeseburger, the tomato and basil spaghetti, the crunchy iceberg wedge salad (which by the way, is served in a very unique and unorthodox manner: a chunk of iceberg lettuce covered with the dressing), and a couple of steaks. Neither dish disappointed and portions were sizeable, some even big enough for sharing. Probably, the only letdown was that they ran out of my favorite tap beer, something I had never experienced before because it is a very popular beer, but understandable due to how crowded the place was. Bottomline, Lou & Mickey’s is a place worth visiting not only if you have business in the convention center but also if you are visiting the city, let’s not forget Gaslamp Quarter is a very touristy destination within San Diego and within walking distance from hotels, the Petco Park, and the bayfront.

Service decent but a sirloin ordered as medium rare was actually well done. Pretty unacceptable for a steakhouse. Won't return.

Beautifully delicious place to have dinner! Wait staff informative and helpful. I had the best wine ever with my dinner, but I can't remember the name!

I took my dad here for a late birthday dinner since he loved a big meaty steak. He’s also very picky though, and doesn’t like his food to be too “dressed up” (think plain cheeseburgers and spaghetti with red sauce). I typically like a bit more flavor though, and some more variety in my sides. I’m happy to say that both of us walked away VERY satisfied with the food here. Steaks were done exactly as asked (rare and medium) and the sides offered were excellent. Service was very attentive, and the prices were fair for what you get. Steaks are around $50 each, so definitely a special occasion restaurant!

Great lunch spot! We ran over to Lou & Mickey's for lunch (right across the street from the convention center). Enjoyed a great ceasar salad and friends loved the fish & chips! Great escape from the convention to enjoy some great food and drinks.

Not normal! Normal noodles with tomatoes and shrimp as well as a usual Ceasar salad were far too hot! Sharper than Thai!!!

Excellent steak and lobster located next to Petco Park so you can watch the Padres on TV while they're playing next door. It's a high-end sports bar feel mixed with a full-service restaurant. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend the dry aged steaks!! If you are a steak fan, it's well worth the money! Melt in your mouth greatness! The staff and service are great and I will return again!

Great location in the Gaslamp Quarter, right opposite the convention centre. The restaurant has a nice vibe and the outdoor seating would be great for people watching. Robert gave awesome service and the food lived up to expectation. My husband had the filet “3-ways” and I had the sirloin cap and both dishes were cooked to perfection. I loved the charred outer crust of the steak, so much flavour.

Lou & Mickey's is near the convention center and the baseball field so parking can be a problem. I was lucky and found a metered spot across the street. They have tables outside and inside, we picked inside because it was cooler. Our server was at our table quickly and I had my usual Manhattan and it was good. The focus here is on beef but the have seafood etc. I had the Caesar salad and it was good. For my main I had the very good Filet Medallions Three Ways. This was 3 small filet cuts with 3 different sauces, pepper, béarnaise, and au juice. The steaks were tender and tasty.

We went to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed. They had rose petals on our table and the service from Dalton was exceptional! The food was so delicious that we cancelled our next day reservation somewhere else and went back to Lou & Mickey’s and asked to be seated in Dalton’s section and again, we were not disappointed. He was attentive and friendly and we will definitely be back the next time we are in San Diego. We would definitely recommend this place.

Came here to celebrate a 40th birthday and left with one of our party with a full glass of wine spilled by the server on herself. Up to this point the food was tasty and the service was good but once the server spilled the wine by knocking over a full glass the spirits were toned down. Restaurant took the entree of the guest off the tab and bought everyone desert.

Lovely restaurant with an old steakhouse vibe. Service was excellent. The food was fantastic. Would definitely return when in the city again.

I was in town with my brother for the weekend to catch a Padres game we stayed down in the Gaslamp district and stopped in Lou & Mickeys highly recommended . My waiter Whitney was very knowledgeable and an excellent recommendation from the appetizer of calamari to the Ribeye steak and lobster. A must the next time you are attending a game

Excelent food and treatment by waiter Dustin. We had Shrimp, clams and Top Sirloin perfectly seasoned and cooked. We’ll be back for sure.

Nice place for a celebration dinner. Pricey but expected for a steakhouse in this location. the cocktails are very nice

Great steak and fish dinners, although there is an overwhelming choice of various steaks with various cuts and aging, most of them too big if you're not planning on a lot of meat. Everyone was happy with theirs, and the server was a big help in navigating the choices. It would be confusing without their help unless you're a steak expert. But what we got was great.

Manager Michael Holst/server Galyn/their chef made this a magical night to remember. We have not been again since Covid and when we were trying to think where to bring our dear friends for their 50th wedding anniversary our friend remembered when we brought them to Lou and Mickey's years earlier and said he still remembered the steak he had. So, I made the reservation. We got there at 5 and we were seated immediately after the manager checked us in. Our server, Galyn, asked immediately what we would like to drink and when we seemed unsure she made the perfect suggestions on the wine and beer. She took our appetizer requests and the appetizers came out very quickly. My raw East Coast oysters were amazing and large and fresh. My friend is a vegetarian and she ordered the baked Mozzarella with Marinara sauce. It was huge and my friend who never eats a lot ate all of it. My husband and our other friend ordered baked goat cheese with roasted garlic. OMG! It was more like a bruschetta and the best any of us had ever tasted...ever! That may be my whole meal next time. The hot freshly baked sourdough bread and real butter was delicious and decadent and we should have done this but we got ANOTHER basket. This whole time we never had to look for our server, Galyn, even once and she was there every time we needed anything with perfect timing. My husband ordered the Caesar Salad and he said it was the freshest lettuce he had ever had. We eat out a LOT so that was saying a lot. We each ordered lobster and filet mignon. Both cooked to perfection. Our friend ordered char grilled "Mary's" organic chicken and he said it was the best chicken he had ever had. We got three sides for the table spinach, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. It was a busy evening with a lot of customers and yet the manager, Michael Holst, kept coming over to check on us. Because of their anniversary my friends were to get a complimentary dessert. My friend could not decide between cheese cake or key lime pie. The manager, Michael, told her how people come from Florida and order it because it is so good. She said she would change from cheesecake and the pie and he said, no, you can have BOTH!!! My friend who is the husband got the rustic apple tart with home made house made vanilla bean ice cream. My husband and I decided to split the same and ordered an extra scoop of ice cream. We fully were aware we would be paying for our desserts but when the bill came ALL of the desserts had been comped. Michael Holst and Galyn made us feel like VIP's but we are just ordinary folks. We met our lifelong friends when we lived in Rome, Italy and we both had our first born children back then. We have traveled the world and we lived in Europe, mainly Italy and France for many years. The way Michael Holst would stop by the table with engaging conversation reminded me of all of those unhurried meals we enjoyed so much in Italy. He and Galyn helped make this even more special without knowing why. In the past three years our friends have lost three adult children one each year to something totally random and their latest loss was of their 31 year old daughter a month ago. We took them out wanting to give them a moment of peace after all they have endured and to give them a chance to smile for an instant. The wonderful food, the kindness and attention shown just naturally by the manager and the server and the perfect food prepared by their chef fulfilled our hopes for making a memory for them that is good. We are in our 70's all four of us and we told our friends when something good happens we have a handshake we do and showed it to them. They said they wanted one as well and they said our time together and the meal was worthy of creating their own handshake and they did.

My husband and I ate there last night. We had the ChâteauBriand with bernaise sauce It was cooked perfectly-the mashed potatoes were sent out cold, we said something about it and they immediately brought us fresh hot potatoes - the service was excellent. Onerius was our server; he was great-I highly recommend asking for him.

One visit was not enough to sample all that Lou & Mickey’s had to offer. Although clearly a carnivore’s heaven, the selection and quality of oysters available looked wonderful at the seat near me. For the price (quite reasonable and by the ounce), go for a daily cut of dry aged beef. Choices abound not only in cuts and sizes but across 30, 45 & 60 day dry aged options. American wagyu and Japanese A5 are also options at prices you likely won’t find anywhere else. The 45 day, 18oz rib eye was prepared perfectly and was unbelievably flavorful. The sautéed spinach was tasty but not as warm as I would have liked. The baked potato however was the largest I have ever seen and despite that was cooked all the way through and was light and fluffy. Ask for the butter and sour on the side. The wine list is limited unless you are ordering a full bottle. Additional glass or half bottle options would be appreciated.

We ordered the Japanese Wagyu and French Onion soup. It didn't look like much but it was melt in your mouth sooo good. The staff was also very friendly and accomodating

The really expensive New York steak where you pay per ounce was amazing! The mahi special was dry and not very flavorful. The ahi tuna appetizer didn’t taste the freshest either but salad/sauce/garnishes with it were good. The vanilla crem brûlée was amazing! The atmosphere was good not great, outdoor patio smelled occasionally like sewer and didn’t always feel the most private but it worked out okay. Server was friendly and helpful.

Ordered 30 day aged t-bone 18oz. Very very fatty. Didn’t like it at all. It’s a bit overpriced also.

Lou and Mickey's is an upscale restaurant: great environment, good food, perfect location and right next door to Padres Petco Stadium. We go there a lot when we go to games. This restaurant is also close to the City's New Library, the Convention Center, and downtown fun areas such as Seaport Village and Headquarters. Prepare to walk a lot.

Took Fred to Gaslamp and stopped here for a late lunch. The restaurant was empty so we got an outside table fairly quick. We ordered some drinks and got those fairly fast even though the waiter forgot our Caesar, he thought we meant a salad lol. We shared soup, caesar salad, burger and fries, all the food was good.

Horrible service from the wait staff, had to ask for water 3 times and watched as the waitress we had asked each time refill the tables glasses next to us before someone else brought our water. Insane prices for a vibe about on par with a sports bar.

This restaurant is in the gas lamp district in San Diego a delightful area with lots of wonderful restaurants. Lou and Mickey’s is well known and at the very entrance to this district. We reserved early for 6:15 PM and we’re seated at our preference inside at a lovely table right next to the aging room for the steak. It was very impressive. We both ordered the petite fillet along with a salad. Steak was cooked to perfection, and I will add that we had a very attentive waiter as we were leaving. The restaurant was almost 100% full and very lively. I was happy to have had the earlier reservation so that we could have a more quiet conversation. I recommend this restaurant, but will warn in advance that it is pricey. Bring your wallet and your appetite.

Great atmosphere, service was great, there was not a bad part to the taste of the meal. They did forget my Oscar but quickly corrected it.

What a great experience our group of 16 had! Impeccable service, amazing steaks, and great sides and apps. The staff made sure everyone was happy and the food and drink spoke for themselves. First time I have seen steaks sold by the ounce, which was a really cool experience. Their dry aging process creates a flavor that is just delicious. I had a 60 day dry aged, bone in rib eye grilled Pittsburgh style. It melted in my mouth. I love this restaurant

This is a great classic atmosphere with some fantastic steak cuts. I had the tuna appetizer and the top sirloin-wow-that a great cut. No regrets here-the waiter was nothing but fabulous and accomodating-made me feel welcome and that he was happy to serve. Would go back again and again!

My husband and I had lunch there and it was very good. I had the Shrimp Louis Salad and my husband had a steak salad. Staff was attentive and we enjoyed sitting outside!

We came here for lunch. Great place amazing service. Menu is really good. We got the seafood platter. Unbelievable! So fresh and plenty of food for 2 people. We did get a cup of the clam chowder which was delicious. Mice beer and wine menu as well. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been visiting San Diego for years and was there earlier this week. Lou & Mickey’s is a great place for a good steak and great service. TIP - if you’re in the Gaslamp before 6:00 PM, the food items on their Happy Hour menu are great tasting and very reasonably priced. Great all-around place to partake of in the Gaslamp.

This restaurant not only had amazing food but so was the service. I plan revisit this place every time I visit San Diego. It's in a great location too. It's right across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel and also close to the Padres' stadium.

We went here to celebrate Father’s Day When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty... Still they asked if we had reservations and since we didn’t that gave us a table on the back... Our waiter was really nice !!! He was a trainee and had the best disposition. Their menu is really good. That’s why we chose the place and the food was great. But that’s not all in a restaurant.... They brought a different wine from the one we chose so they had to get it back ( we asked for a white wine and they brought a red ) amazing !!! When we were paying our card didn’t go through... We wondered why. So we had them try again and again until I got really mad ( my card didn’t have a problem ). It did go through. Their manager didn’t help at all. That sucks in a restaurant. They have a great Chef. Their food is amazing but their staff is a no no no !!!!

A few of the reviews almost scared us away but it was the shortest walk from the hotel and looked good from the outside. Glad we went in. Excellent service and food. It's pricey but if you cant figure that out from the outside you arent paying attention.

We went in for dinner around 10PM and they were almost sold out of most sea food. So we got pasta instead. Very disappointing but the wait staff were excellent.

Had luch with two business associates during big conference. We had a relaxed meal and great service. Everything was wonderfully prepared. Our table was quiets and had a window view. You can sit outside if you like, but we wanted a bit quieter table and did not prefer high seats. Would recommend for upscale lunch in a nice atmosphere.

This is a must-do if you are in the San Diego area. This is a steak house not to be outdone! Thank you to our server Brennan for his exceptional service! The location of this restaurant allows for great people watching if you are on the patio. Definitely worth the money!

On our first day in San Diego, we walked around the neighborhood and we spent the restaurant was still empty and it was a grateful surprise! Excellent entries and a good Stella chopp.

Although the restaurant had no record of our reservation made weeks and weeks in advance, they easily found room they were not at all busy (Monday evening). We had the pick of this large establishment. We sat is a cosy booth next to the deserted bar area. It was great, we could talk and it was very relaxing. Had a brilliant waitress who was charming and friendly. The food was very good, excellent if boiling hot French onion soup, delicious crab cakes and simple but quality pieces of steak, cooked just as requested, one well done and one medium. Portions were well judged, we left pleasantly full and not bloated. It was very expensive (rubbish exchange rate) but we did have to have at least one good US steak meal on our trip and this was it.

Seafood is still available, however their emphasis is now on steak, aged steaks in particular. I read between the lines as this was explained to us by the waitress and ordered the American Wagyu steak, which was cooked exactly as I requested and seasoned very well. The person next to me got the lobster tails, which she described as "meh" and a bit overcooked. Get the steak!

Excellent for large groups. Get a table outside. This place a wonderful selection of steaks & seafood. Try the swordfish, oysters (multiple kinds), or prime beef.

Old school steakhouse that is an obvious institution in the Gaslamp. Once we navigated the hostess and her mildly dismissive attitude, the rest of the experience was great. Service, drinks, salad very good. Seafood cold platter even better, and the dry aged strip was outstanding.

I went here for lunch last week when I was attending a conference at the convention center. It was a 5 minute walk in the Gas Light District and the place filled up by 12:30-12:45. The food and service was very good. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly. I would certainly go back again the next time in San Diego.

We had a great evening at Lou and Mickey's. It started with excellent service by our server Danielle. She was so fun and knowledgeable and helped us make some good decisions. I only wish my appetite was bigger so I could have tried some of those desserts. We shared a Rib-eye off the cut board and a baked potato. Both were cooked perfectly. A couple nice drinks and we were in heaven. We sat outdoors on the patio and when it started to get chilly they brought over a lamp. Just a great night all around. Thank you!

Right from the minute I walked in the care was on point. It was a busy hour on a Monday and I had no reservation but I was treated with a lot of dignity and detail keeping. My meal was later due to the peak hour orders but not only did my server and the managers come to notify me and apologize, the G.M delivered it himself. They totally eased my nerves and I look forward to returning; by the way I was given a seat of my choice and the view is amazing. The food, goodness, I loved my lunch - both quality and quantity. I'll see you guys soon.

Excellent service but our food was served after almost 60 minutes the dishes were tasty Meat at it's best

Our food was very delicious! Our server Carlton was the absolute best! Great environment and meal options for even the pickiest of eaters.

While at the convention center and looking for a close by place. We came here. The seating outside was nice. The service was fast and the food was good.

Very nice restaurant with great food! Our waiter made a point to engage with my 3 grandsons ages 11, 8 and 7 and kept them entertained throughout our dinner.

Last weekend our family ate several dinners while visiting San Diego. This restaurant was planned and selected as a special place for celebrating a birthday and anniversary with family members. We would have given this review an excellent if it were not for the fact that they ran out of several of the entrees that we ordered. We got to the restaurant early in the evening at 6:30 p.m- ordered by 6:50 p.m. and were shocked when the server informed us at 7:10 that they were out of a few of the entrees on the menu. Then at 7:40 p.m. the server informed us that another one of our entrees that I ordered was also out-something that they are known for--- their lobster tails. That just seemed to be incredible to me because if all of the orders were put in at 6:50 when we ordered them how could it be that we were not informed immediately about the kitchen being out of those meals and at two separate times ---especially so long a time after we ordered- 20 minutes for one entree and 50 minutes to tell us about another-outrageous .To say the least it ruined at least for me what should have been a lovely dining experience. That timing just did not make any sense to us. The management was very apologetic and took care of my new entree order but it did not make up for the disappointment experienced and the delay of all of the meals at our table being served. Our server too was extremely sorry for what had happened and was very attentive.

Always sit at the bar for fast & continuous service with ordering off the appetizer menu being the way to go. Great selection of wines and beers and if you arrive early seats are always available. It does pack out quickly so plan accordingly. The filet beef tips and beet salads are a must try.

This review happened in April 2023. My wife and I were on spring break in San Diego. Went to Lou and Micky's located in the Gas Lamp District. To start the service was amazing! our server was nice, and he knew his menu. He made some good suggestions, but my wife and I already had a plan. For the starter we shared the Jumbo Lump Crab cake. We love to try crab cakes form whatever restaurant we are at, and we both loved there's. It has a lot of crab meat, and it was well seasoned and with the right amount of crackers crumbs. I had the Oyster Sampler (Barcat, Henderson Bay, Rappahannock, Stingray, Hama Hama, Kumamoto). I love oysters so they I had to have them. They tasted amazing and so they were so fresh. The oysters had an amazing flavor and well worth the price. My wife went for the 8 oz Barrel-Cut Filet Mignon and I had the 3.75oz T-Bone (30 days aged). The stakes where incredible. They were juicy and well-seasoned. We loved this restaurant. Like I said the food was incredible. The service was great, and the restaurant is well furnished. We will defiantly be coming back, and we highly recommend Lou and Mickey's. You will not be disappointed.

These guys are on top of their game, great service and great food. A high end steak house that delivers the goods! We're already planning on going there the next time we're in San Diego.

Walked by this busy restaurant and it seemed like a good place to eat. We were seated on a beautiful outdoor patio and that’s the best thing I can say about this place. Our table of 4 was never offered cocktails, one of our appetizers was never delivered (we were told it went to another table but the waiter wasn’t sure), our salads arrived immediately after the appetizer that was delivered and our entrees arrived less than 2 minutes later, without room on the table to accommodate all plates. The food was basically blah with the only standout being the trio of small filets with different sauces. After finishing, the waiter asked if we wanted the check and we had to ask if there was a dessert menu. We ordered 2 desserts and literally 1/2 hour later 1 of the desserts showed up with the 2nd about 5 minutes behind. We received a perfunctory apology, but no explanation of the reason for the delay. I’ve eaten in countless restaurants all over the world and this was by far the worst service I have ever had.

Unfortunately were a little disappointed with this visit. We did not get the same level of service we normally have gotten in the past or what we expect from this type of an establishment. Keeping this at three stars but it could’ve easily been four with slightly more attentive service. The drinks were good! And the crispy coconut shrimp were very tasty! Hopefully will have better luck next time.

Had drinks and dinner after ball game @ Petco Park. Drinks were good. Food was ok, a bit salty what we had. A little expensive for what you get. A good place to hang out after the game

Great outdoor dining experience in the Gas Lamp District. We ordered the large tomahawk steak to split with the five of us and ordered several appetizers and side dishes to get the complete experience. This was the way to go. We had great service and they delivered an excellent dining experience. The steak was cooked to perfection and the side dishes were excellent.

Lou Mickey's is on the corner of 5th Avenue next to the Congress centre. We had a great seafood dinner with cajun jumbo shrimps and sauteed mushrooms, excellent great selection of wines. Excellent service

Good service and good menu Very good filets Good deserts also good selection of seafood Recommend for small party get together
Upscale place
Known for their great steaks, although they are owned by the King's Seafood Company. Good selection of fish also, and I ordered the Chilean sea bass, which you can't find anywhere. Good piece of fish, although they don't have any sauces like ginger or sesame which I like, I think just butter. Clearly a high end restaurant, and because of the location across from convention center it is not only a high rent district, but probably has a large "expense account" crowd, which means high prices.
