This was a delightful experience. The restaurant’s ambiance was wonderful. It was relaxing, clean and inviting. Our meals were well seasoned and presentation was very attractive. We had the shrimp and grits, jambalaya, fried catfish, ribeye steak, collard greens and gator bites. The only complaint I have is the Jambalaya because it was kinda watery, I didn’t enjoy it. You gotta try the Pimmp’s Cup. I had two! They were sooo good. Will visit again. Oh and parking was kinda limited so keep that in mind when visiting.

One of the best New Orleans- based restaurants I have ever been to. The biscuits. The biscuits! Just a simply delicious experience and setting.

Originally from the south and have frequented New Orleans many times. I love Cajun food and LP did not disappoint!!!! This was my first time visiting and this has become my go to spot!! The shrimp & grits were on point, the cheddar biscuits are amazing, fried chicken and Mac & cheese are delicious. PLEASE open a second location downtown.

We went to Louisiana Purchase after hearing it was one of the nicer Black owned restaurant spots in San Diego. Expectations were high. We walk in and are told, “I’ll be right there.” Five minutes pass. No seating. No acknowledgment. No apology. Just standing. Eventually we’re seated and we move on. We sit down, start reviewing the menu, getting ready to order. Our waitress comes over and she’s actually very pleasant. Hope returns. Then she says, “Before you order, let me tell you about our 86’d items.” Pause. It is 2pm. She proceeds to list several items they are already out of. One of them is on a special menu that literally launched the day before and somehow sold out in one day. Another item is not actually out, they just are not offering it anymore. Then why is it still on the menu. Is the menu a vision board. At this point we’re confused about what actually exists. My husband and I exchange the look. Menus close. Decision made. We leave. And here’s the real issue. When a restaurant positions itself as elevated, the experience has to match. The service, the organization, the menu accuracy. All of it. You cannot expect people to pay for a premium experience and then operate like it’s an extended soft opening. I want Black owned and Black frequented establishments to win. Truly. But the lack of polish and accountability hurts the brand more than it helps. Final thoughts. Great concept. Friendly server. Execution needs work.

I've spent a lot of time in Louisiana and like the food there, so I'm always happy to find another place that serves it here in San Diego. The gumbo is pretty good with lots of seafood. Some dishes, like the seafood flat bread, are unusual, but come off pretty well. The bar makes some creative cocktails. The staff are really friendly. My only complaints are they could use a couple more servers, the benches could use some cushions, and parking is really difficult (even on a weeknight). Still, well worth giving it a try.

Amazing!!! The food was so good! I think we ordered one of everything lol!! Great Vibe and Excellent Service! Will be back for sure that Fried Crab🙌🥰. Shrimp and Grits, Gumbo were all amazing! Omg those Charbroiled oysters so well seasoned and just delicious!

Visited for the first time based on a recommendation from a colleague. Scoured the menu and saw there was nothing but fried, and arguably, unhealthy food but still ordered lunch (i.e., chicken tenders with Cajun fires). Obviously, comfort food but nothing to rave about. Couldn’t understand why my colleague claimed it to be so good. Unlikely to return, thereby making this an OTV (“one time visit”).

The food is delicious and the menu has a lot of variety. The wait staff is very friendly. The food arrived promptly and was hot. There is also a very cool drink menu.

I love this place! This was my second time visiting. I live in Vegas and this place could definitely do well there! The food, service and drinks are so yummy! The only thing that isn’t ideal is the parking! A must-eat in SD!

I had a wonderful experience at Louisiana Purchase this past June. I only have two complaints/concerns: (1) the parking (no valet, street parking only) and (2) the music. Although the musical selection (R&B and Hip Hop) gave the restaurant a certain vibe, they really should ONLY play the radio versions of the songs. Some of the lyrics were inappropriate for a dinner setting. In fact, when I was there, there was a very diverse crowd, which is good. Therefore, any songs with the "N" word in them should be completely avoided!!! Other than that, the food was excellent, the vibe was great, the service was spectacular and the prices were reasonable. Overall, a very good restaurant and I can't wait to return!!

First one here. Busy but safe place. Really friendly service. Sat outside on long patio. Was able to watch the kitchen staff do their thing. Thursday night features the $30 boil (crablegs 1lb, andouille sausage, red potatoes) good and spicy.

Some of the best food you will come across in Southern Cali. The meals are unique and full of flavor. If you are anywhere in the surrounding area, this is a MUST. The fried catfish is one of my favorites, and also the steak. Thank me later.

The customer service was professional and the food was delicious. One of the chefs came to our table. She’s from Jamaica and shared her expertise on cooking. We also met the owner. He’s a very cool guy. The next time we are in San Diego, this will be a must stop for us

If you are looking for an excellent restaurant with good food, excellent service, and ambiance that is on point this place is for you. My ribeye with creamy crawfish sauce was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back.

Me and my wife went here for lunch, she went with her friends a few months ago and wanted me to try it. We sat at the bar, we didn’t make reservations but bartender was great and food was incredible, definitely will go back!!!

Great food. The chef is amazing and Dope he food came out very tasty. Waited for 90 minutes before we were seated and the food did not disappoint

It was a great experience overall. They seated us quickly, we did have a reservation but arrived early. The waitress was attentive and happy to offer recommendations. The food was delicious. We order a bit too much but it was so good we managed to eat everything. Highly recommend this place. Their lobster pasta and they’re Mac and cheese was great. I would also recommend the baked potato.
New Orleans in North Park
While volunteering at a charity wine event I had the pleasure of working next to the table from Louisiana Purchase and Chef Q was serving up his gumbo. The managers gave me a $10 card to come try this newer restaurant in North Park. I finally made it there to celebrate Mardi Gras on Feb 25, 2020. They were all decked out with beads and masks. This stylish space flows from inside to the open air patio but I sat up at the sleek bar. Had to start off with a Hurricane cocktail in honor of Fat Tuesday on Bourbon Street. But I knew I wanted the Chef Q culinary masterpiece, the signature Alligator Andouille Cheesecake. It is savory and deliciously rich topped with crawfish cream. It's pricey and would have been good to share, but Fat Tuesday meant I ate very bite of it plus another cocktail. When I do splurge I appreciate having ambience and creative food and cocktails and I got all of that here. Thank you.
