Lovely's Fifty Fifty has been featured in Chef's Table - Pizza and for good reason; it is AWESOME! The story behind the restaurant is great; however you don't need to know the story to enjoy this very cool, fun restaurant located in the Mississippi District of Portland (North). Lovely's is open from 5pm to 10pm everyday. They do not take reservations so plan on waiting a bit for a table especially in the spring/summer months. It's worth the wait so be patient. The pizzas vary based on the local ingredients available. As an example, we enjoyed a pizza topped with nettles plus tallegio (sp) and etxegian (sp) cheeses. The crust for the pizza is off the charts good (not thin and not too thick). Some of the starters are easier to share than others; check with your server for recommendations. We enjoyed a pasta fagiloa (sp) which was super delicious and topped with kale flowers! Amazing! Pro Tip - save room for dessert! Lovely's makes their own ice cream and it's tasty! We had some Wild Ginger and the flavors vary again based on what's available seasonally in the Portland area. I have been to Lovely's numerous times and since the menu varies you never know what will be available and it's all good!

The crust is still delicious and chewy but I didn't get excited about any of the toppings we had this time... especially "fava tops & pea greens with green garlic, fromage blanc & chives" -- too much "green". Next time we'll also time our visit better: be there right at 5pm or expect to wait till at least 6:45 when people clear out. Just two beers on the list and about five whites and five reds by the glass. For date night people be warned that on the night we went there were lots of kids at the 5pm seating.

This is a great spot for pizza. I am picky about what pizza I would recommend, and this one is definitely up there. Lots of fun nontraditional toppings, but nothing too crazy. It is a smaller spot which contributes to its coziness, but it can have a wait. My only complaint is that once we were sat, we were ignored for upwards of 10 minutes. I when I finally got a servers attention we ordered drinks and our meal, and from there it was good service. The ice cream was a great finish to the meal.

Saw great reviews for this place and it did not disappoint. I was there on my own around 7:30 on a Tuesday night. There was a 20 minute wait so I went to the pub next door for a beer and the hostess called me when a table was ready. I had a pizza - 1/2 margherita and sausage on the other half. Great pizza for people who like the artisan, coal/wood oven style. Outer crust was puffier than other places I've been too like this one, but it was delicious. Great balance of sauce and cheese and thin, chewy crust. Salted caramel ice cream cone for dessert. Very positive, casual atmosphere. Families with kids, couples, and at least one other lone business traveler like me.

This is a nice place, casual atmosphere and nice for families. It is a little chaotic to have one big room that includes the kitchen. The sides were my favorite. Very tasty veggie dishes.

Some of the best pizza in town...in a town full of terrific pizza. Their salads are of equal quality and diversity. Afterward, you can try some of their wonderful gelato, featured at the front of house in a separate little take-out counter. Later, have coffee outside, in good weather, at the great food cart pod just up the block on Mississippi street.

Lovely's has some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Their toppings are imaginative and fresh, and the crust is perfect, not too think or thick, and nice and chewy. I'm always suspicious of trendy pizza places (we have too many of them in Seattle), so as a Portland visitor I was a little worried about visiting one, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am looking forward to my next visit.

This is a busy place that doesn’t take reservations. So arrive early before it opens. Didn’t try the ice cream, but the salads and pizza are excellent. The server was great at guiding us to some great decisions. Everything is fresh and they create some unique combinations on the pizza and salad. I don’t think you could go wrong.

These wood fired pizzas are very different from standard fare. The spinach, fermented tomato, and goat feta cheese was THE best. The olive appetizer was a nice mix. Then ice cream for dessert. Can't go wrong with mint or salted caramel. Rich and creamy. The only drawback is that parking is a nightmare.

The pizza goes without saying. Amazing crust. Highest quality ingredients. But the vegetable sides. Woah. We had a dish of beets with barley??? I can't even remember but so so wonderful. Great wines and really fun ice cream. Popcorn salted Carmel but the Chamomile ice cream was my very favorite. Ever. Great service. Expect a wait if a Friday night but fun neighborhood to walk around. Oh and just order a side tin of anchovies for your pizza. Just do it

Our cousins who live in Portland took us here for dinner. The restaurant is very cute, in a new building, and has a very eclectic decor. The service is excellent, everyone had pizza except me. They said the pizzas were outstanding. I had their escarole salad which was great and their sausage and potato, the potato was great, unfortunately the sausage was mushy and lacked any flavor. I am not an ice cream eater, but evidently they are renown for their homemade ice cream. Everyone else at the table ordered the ice cream and said it was awesome.

As they say, even bad pizza is pretty good, but there's a special place in heaven when pizza is this phenomenal. Not just a pizza place, Lovely's does fine Italian food, beautiful salads, its much more than pizza-- and if you've got calories in your budget after the pizza, their ice cream is also sublime. In a town spoiled for culinary choice, Lovely's remains "I want to go there again".

I already told that but will again: I'm a pizza fanatic - but real / true pizza - and had eating pizza all over world: Brazil (the best pizza by far - yes better than Italy!), US, Italy, France, Germany, UK, Portugal, Spain.... list is too long... Everywhere I travel first thing we look is "wood fired pizza" places .... I also consider myself a pretty good "pizzaiolo" and make very good pizza... that's why you will see many pizza places reviews... This place is small, cozy and charming.... and the pizza is really good! Wood fired oven (not charcoal or gas) makes all the difference in texture and taste. This is not a "Neapolitan style" pizza: the crust is more "crunch & dry" - and for my personal taste better than the more "wet" Neapolitan style. You can even eat this pizza with your hands - don't try this in a real Neapolitan style place - although I always prefer eating with fork/knife (unless you are in Italy eating pizza from a street vendor...) There are not many options and I ordered the Salami/sweet hot peppers/black olives one ($18) BUT without the peppers (peppers in pizza??? No please!) and it was great. I will only not give a 10 score because it was a little too salty - and I'm a salty guy! My wife keep saying that I put too much salt in everything! And even I found this a little too much. Maybe they made mistake on the salt on the sauce - as the Salami & olives are already salted you need to have almost no salt in the dough/sauce/cheese part to compensate... BUT the crust was P E R F E C T! The only other pizza I had in US with so good crust was in Atlanta, GA at Varasanos & Antico - the two best pizzas I had (in US!). This now will be my 3rd best one! I also tried the house red wine and was pretty good! ($7/glass) If you like real pizza and that "wood oven smell" on the dough and are in Portland GO FOR IT! Note: one big problem is parking: only on street and very very difficult to find a spot. I arrived at 5:45 on a Tuesday and took more than 30 minutes driving around to find a parking spot. So be patient... the pizza will worth it! PS: if you ever go to Sao Paulo city in Brazil and are a pizza lover don't miss "Braz Pizzaria" (google it and look the pictures at their website....)

In our never-ending search for FANTASTIC pizza, this place is right near the top (faves: Ken's, Serious Pie in Seattle). Crust is chewy without being thick. Loved the Margarita and Gorgonzola+Pear pizzas (wanted a few more pears though ...). Limited wine and beer list but all are good and local. To avoid a lineup (especially on sunny evenings) get here by 5:30 (opens at 5). Finish the meal with some of their delicious ice cream. I recommend salted caramel.

Very cute restaurant, minimal outdoor seating, but great menu. Both pizzas we ordered were yummy and big enough for 2 people (we took half of each pizza home....not complaining!) Too full to try their ice cream afterwards, even though people were lining up just for that!

We are now regulars! Every week I look forward to Sunday evenings, when we have the mozzarella and marjoram pizza and add toppings like kale and anchovies. The cauliflower is incredible, and we love all of their salads. Their "wine pour of the month" is a good bet - right now it's a very clean white. Their ice cream... I've never been addicted to ice cream until now. Thar cherry vanilla. Best place on Mississippi! Radar is a very close second.

Stopped in here for desert. Limited number of choices of ice cream but it was fantastic. I had the mint chocolate gelato and the salted caramel. Well worth the Uber road to get there. Nestled in the South Mississippi district of Portland. Lots of shops nearby to walk off the calories. Would definitely go back.

I wish I could give this spot 2 ratings. The ice cream is so-so and I would recommend Ruby Jewel's instead. The pizza, though, was outstanding. I've eaten a lot of pizza, including high-end with all the locally sourced, artisinal, yadda, yadda, yadda ingredients but this pizza is the best I've had. Don't be scared off by the odd-sounding toppings like peaches, they really work. The best pizza of all was topped with uncooked heirloom tomatoes. Pizza bliss!

Great unique pizza with local ingredients. A bit on the pricey side but we enjoyed the pizza we had. Very busy so go early on the weekend ends. We didn’t try the ice cream but it looked delicious. Maybe next time!

Most of Mississippi avenue was not kid friendly, but this place was the exception. Organic ice-cream was delicious and reasonably priced. Latte was good, but small.

Seriously, is this place for real? I sure hope they don't tweak with what they have going here. We wondered if the slightly off path location (we normally don't go that far north for dinner and Mississippi is on the upward swing of gentrification) is helping keep the prices reasonable. Six dollars for a childrens' pizza and the $13 for the Rapini pizza was exceptionally reasonable. My wife and I shared a single pizza and a salad. If you come hungry, I could see a pizza per person with some tinfoil in tow when you leave. How good are these pizzas? A perfect balance of salt, flavors; and the crust is sublime. It's thin crust, but with the right amount of char and it's amazingly flavorful. Our two young boys were surprised with how good it was. We just kept talking about how the tomato sauce anchored each of our pizzas and really left these pies in their own category. PLEASE don't miss the raddichio caesar salad. Not only is it stunning to the eye , but the combination of garlic, olive oil, anchovy, and lots and lots of Parmesan cheese and homemade croutons makes this the perfect way to begin your meal. The texture was also very interesting as every part of the salad was crunchy--nothing worse than a soggy salad. As if the one-two punch of the salad and pizza weren't enough, the stories of homemade ice cream caught our attention and we felt compelled to try the grapefruit sorbet and malted milk ball. Who are these people? Served up in homemade waffle cones...of course. We were sick of making our way up to Portland over a weekend and wishing Ken's Pizza was open on Sunday...nothing to worry about now after we overwhelmed our taste buds and walked out with a bill in pocket proving culinary perfection can be attained for a family of four with minimal financial pain. If you can, do your best to get there right after they open so you don't have to wait for too long. It looked like the place fills up pretty quickly on a Sunday night.

We meet with a certain couple about once a month to eat pizza. Portland has some terrific joints. I am not sure what all the hype is. I am a traditional meet pizza guy. So one of our pizzas was the margarita pizza with salami, our other was the morel mushroom pizza. The morel mushroom pizza had loads of flavor and the crust was nicely chewy. The margarita pizza was over cooked. We should have sent it back, especially when paying $17 for a 12" pizza. It lacked any distinguishing flavors, again, probably because it was too well done. I doubt that we will be back. The ice cream was delicious, but we game for extraordinary pizza and were disappointed!! Our server Jeremy was VERY good.

Good pizza! Homemade ice cream! Served in a cute spot. Lovely's Fifity-Fifty is great if you get there early enough to avoid crowds. The pizza is definitely better in-house. I know that is banal to say, but in the case of fresh thin crust pizza it's worth repeating. Bring your jacket to the bathroom. The bathroom situation was not a plus for the location. The bathroom is next door -- I'll grant that it's a whimsical door, but next door nonetheless. And you need a key. I hate that. Fine for a Subway, but a nice spot like this should do better.

The food was good, however, the service was so bad it negated anything good about the overall experience. We'd waited about 45 min which was fine- we went across the street to an outside bar and had drinks and played corn hole. They called to let us know our table was ready. Our experience started fine until we ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. Until finally we flagged down our waitress and asked if she could check on our food. BIG faux pas apparently. Because from that point on, she wouldn't even look at us, much less offer any service. Our food was finally brought (mostly by other staff) and she ignored us completely. We were never asked if it was ok, never offered more drinks or anything else. We finally had to flag down another server to get our bill. All along though, we would watch her smiling and seemingly happily serving the tables across from us. The takeaway: take what they give you unless you want your server to be super grumpy and ignore you. I would NEVER come back despite the good food.

First time eating here today. I read great reviews in the local newspaper so I felt like I should try it. They made an excellent fennel sausage pizza for my wife and I. Also had their organic soft serve twist in a cone. I'll be visiting again. Also, I got there 3 minutes after it opened, 10 minutes later it was completely full.

Delicious pizza, salads, ice cream and beer! We had a group of 5 so delighted ourselves in every section of the menu! Try the green bean appetizer! You won't regret it! I sampled 3 of the ice creams myself... Salted caramel wins!

We were taken here by a friend living in Portland and so glad . It is very casual - pizza and ice cream. Does it get better than that? The toppings were very mixed and unusual. Same with the ice cream. YUM!

Great ambience during the summer with a "garage door" opening up to the street. Great service. The pizzas were great and we did not wait long. They are big and two out of four adults were able to finish the pizza, the rest loved their left-overs.

Shared 2 salads and 2 pizzas. All ingredients were fresh picked from local gardens. Crust was homemade and seasonings used were perfect. Had homemade ice cream to finish the meal. Everything was amazing.

This was the last stop on our most recent foodie tour of Portland. It was a busy Saturday night and the wait time was just over two hours which gave us time to enjoy a couple of drinks at a nearby bar. The hostess did a great job managing the wait list. Our server was super friendly. We ordered a bottle of wine, a radicchio salad as an appetizer and two pizzas. The radicchio salad was amazing, I still am thinking about it 3 months later. The pizza was surprisingly average. Overall an enjoyable evening but didn’t make it to our top five Portland list. I would prob return just for the salad.

The pizza and dessert (homemade ice cream) were very good, service was excellent and would recommend the restaurant but the highlight of the night was walking through the neighborhood. It reminded us of a much smaller in scale Haight/Ashbury. We wish we had more time to stop at the interesting stores and pubs along Mississippi street.

Pizza is so delicious. And the salads are divine. Only (slight) downside is that the cost is too prohibitive to eat here every week!

Stopped in for some ice cream after having a beer next store at Interurban. I gave it 4 stars because they did not have a chocolate optoin of the 7 flavors they did have. $4 for a scoop seems a bit much so I opted for the pint...Great pizza as always.

People always talk about Apizza Scholls and Ken's in Portland... and they're really good, don't get me wrong. But Lovely's is quietly pretty awesome, too. Great pies in their wood oven, service is good, price is comparable to other upscale pizza restaurants, and to top it all off - some of the best ice cream with waffle cones at the front on your way out. (Sometimes we just hop in for the ice cream) We've been 3-4 times, and have always been impressed.

Terrific Neapolitano style pizza. Ice cream is at least as good, probably better. Great place although a little spendy. Great introduction to the neighborhood, which bears exploring.

It was worth the 30 minute wait. The fennel sausage pizza was a winner. Space was neutral and service good. Prices were fair. I would good back.

Its crazy to have to choose between excellent pizza and fantastic ice cream! At Lovely's Fifty Fifty, you get to have your pie and ice cream too! OUTSTANDING.

Great wood-fired pizza with high quality ingredients in this Mississippi eatery. Visited on a week night and were seated immediately. The seats are very close to each other, which causes conversations to be a little loud. The spinach pizza and the sausage one were both outstanding. Was not impressed with the sea salt caramel ice cream. Will definitively return.

There's a lot of good pizza in Portland. Having moved there from NYC, I was dubious, but Portland can make some seriously good pie. I don't miss the NYC food scene at all, in fact. We don't have Le Bernardin in Portland, but we don't have Guy Fieri's abominations, either. If you throw a dart at a list of all the restaurants restaurants in both cities, you're more likely to enjoy the one in Portland. What sets Lovely's apart, however, is its fantastic service and the fact that their pizza menu is constantly changing. Just when I think I've seen it all, they come up with a new combination that is so delicious I want to swoon. The ice cream is good, too, but for us, it's all about the pizza. The only downside is that the crust is too thick. I like a super thin crust and this one is too thick and chewy at the edges. That's a minor quibble, though, and certainly not enough to knock a star off. The bathroom situation is weird. You have to get a key, leave the restaurant, and walk outside to a restroom shared with other businesses. But again, it's a minor quibble. It's not about the bathroom. It's about the pizza.

We were after a mellow place to hang out with a relaxing atmosphere and good food--- this fit the bill! Low lights and a neighborhood feel with the wood fired oven warming up the open kitchen from the back. We loved that the pizzas offered seasonal intruiging flavor combinations, and splitting one with a tasty escarole garlic salad satisfied, our mood, tastebuds and wallet too!

this place is amazingly creative. i've always thought that portland has the best food and this restaurant did not disappoint me at all! my friends and i had to wait for awhile to get a table, but it was definitely worth the wait!

We ended up here because the pizza place down the street was horrible and I’m glad we did. This is a very charming restaurant. A mixture of young and mature staff. They seemed to click together like family. Down to earth. Pizza toppings seem unusual but surprisingly worked well together, like the staff. The pizza was above average but not amazing. Good and worth the trip but pizza isn’t the reason to come. The ice cream is to die for. This is the true gem. Come for the ice cream and get pizza on the side.

This was a birthday dinner for my 2y/o granddaughter, but this wasn't the typical pizza choices kids usually ask for. Sure they had your Margarita (cheese), but then there were bacon, heirloom tomato and herbs (Delicious), Olive, salami and cheese, kale, chard and other vegetables and others I can't remember. So don't go here if you are craving Pepperoni and sausage, but if you have a more cultured tongue, as my granddaughter (she liked the salami and olives), you will be quite pleasantly surprised. We also had some very good wines with our meal(just the adults) and of course an ice cream dessert to complete the celebration.Neat place, on the small side, very good wait staff and hosts.

The pizza is amazing, creative and delicious with just the right amount of char coming from their wood fired pizza oven. After finishing your fabulous pizza(s), you then have the dilema of trying to decide which Ice Cream to finish off your meal with. The Ice Cream is outstanding, so the choice will be hard to make unless you break down and order a scoop of each!

I was beyond impressed with this place. The pizza and ice cream are absolutely to die for! I've been to the restaurant twice and would go back again in a heartbeat. The ambiance is very nice, with ideal lighting, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I always need a little help picking the right thing from the menu, and they certain obliged. Do yourself a favor and check this place out when in Portland. You will not be disappointed!

I took my son and his roommates for pizza here. I was surprised at how delicious the multi pizzas we ordered were. We had a number of salads as well and they were absolutely delicious. This is a very casual place so it was great for the kids. We all enjoyed ourselves

My friend and I stopped here for some ice cream and I am so glad we did. The gal behind the counter let us try various flavors. We both ended up getting the Chamomile and toffee popcorn and it was incredible! Perfectly creamy texture combined with crunchy popcorn and toffee. Would definitely stop here again.

So...yeah...This morning my sisters boyfriend asked me what my favorite meal has been since being in Portland a week now...and I was hesitant to reply the pizza at Lovely's because its pizza...but it was more than that. It was amazing. We had two pies...one had melted leeks on it...and that was the star of the meal. I don't know what they did or how but the flavor was magic. Not only that but the crust on both pies was perfect. Just a little charred and slightly burnt...but in a really good way. I also had asparagus with polenta/egg/parm. That was great also. Company I was with had the house kombucha...that was great...overall far exceeds pizza and highly recommend to anyone searching for excellent portland eats. Awesome!

Went here on a sat night and waited about 15 min to get seated. Ordered a mushroom Margarita Pizza and ice cream for dessert. Overall it was pretty good.

It was Friday night and we had a hankering for pizza. We were pretty hungry when we were told it would be 45 minute wait, but we were glad we decided to ride out the wait. I think if you're not into inventive flavors on pizza, you may struggle, because this is not your average churned-out pepperoni pizza type of place. This is chef-inspired food. My wife and I shared the sungold tomato confit pizza. It was absolutely delicious! I had the malted milkball ice cream for dessert and my wife enjoyed the salted caramel. It's was seriously one of the best flavors of ice ream I've ever had! We're just sad we don't live near Lovely's Fifty Fifty, but if we return to visit the area, this will be the place for pizza and ice cream!

It's only open Tuesday through Sunday, 5-10 PM. Unless you arrive early, you will wait for a table. And be glad you did, because you can have some ice cream while you wait. It runs about $25 a person for a pizza and salad apiece, plus ice cream (drinks, tip excluded). There is street parking available (curb your wheels). It's nice inside; clean and simple, with some nice touches. The wine list is not extensive, but it is particularly well-chosen. I'm a pizza lover, and I do not make statements like "the best pizza" lightly. Lovely's Fifty Fifty made the best pizza I've had in years, and no other pizza I've eaten in the past 10 years has come close. I might even visit Portland again JUST to have more Fifty Fifty. It's tough to believe that I'm the first to review this place. By the way, I've been to New York city several times, and eaten at the so-called great places (except Grimaldi's) and folks who say New York has the best pizza are simply, well, deluding themselves. No kidding-when I visit NYC, I have at least one serving of pizza every day, and two when I can (from different venues), so I've eaten gutfuls of New York pie; I'm still looking for the epiphany, but a pleasant surprise would be nice too. Lovely's Fifty Fifty makes classic Neopolitan pizza, with a thin crust. Want gooey gobs of cheese and masses of crust-obscuring toppings? Go someplace else. I started with a cold corn soup that was quite flavorful, but perhaps a little heavy on the pesto and I followed that with a pickled beet salad. The salad was pretty good, but kind of small for $8. For dessert, I had peach ice cream in a cone; simply divine. The cone was crunchy and a touch too sweet, and the ice cream was perfectly textured, with clean, pure flavor. The handmade ice cream alone makes it worth a visit. The ice creams here are made by hand, using incredibly flavorful fresh ingredients. Save room for dessert! But the pizza...holy smokes. I had a margherita with calabrian chiles, and I think it was about $13, which is a pretty good deal for artisan pizza. The crust (which is of course the most important part of a pizza) was simply perfect. Very thin (but ever so slightly thicker than is usual for artisan Neopolitan pie), with actual flavor, and cooked to perfection. The balance of crunch and chew was sublime, and (unlike, say, Ken's in Portland) the crust did not get a little too floppy in the center. The fresh mozzarella, basil, and sauce were a perfectly balanced combination. There was a couple of tiny problems. They ran out of sparkling water (hot weekend) and the tap water was pretty crappy. The server was helpful, but not particularly attentive. The bathroom is quirkily located in a building next door, and you need grab the key that electronically unlocks the door to the building. It's at the ice cream counter. Now go to Portland and eat some pizza already!

We stopped by after dinner for some ice cream. We were told this place beats Salt n Straw hands down. No, it does not. My husband had coffee almond fudge and it was very coffee, VERY strong. I had Butter walnut and it was very bland. I can't vouch for the pizza but as for the ice cream, I wouldn't bother.

I can't say enough good about this one! The pizza was delicious. The side dish was delicious. The dessert was delicious. And the waitstaff.....excellent. First the pizza; truffle scented pecorino...need I say more? The side dish was oven roasted cauliflower dressed to perfection. And for dessert I had an affogato with salted caramel ice cream; pretty much Heaven. And our waitress....she was so enthusiastic about the food. I was sure she must be the owner as she was so proud of what they were serving. But when I asked, she was not; she was simply someone who was so passionate about food and it really came across in her descriptions of items on the menu. Just go.

This place gets better and better. It has always been a favorite of ours. Lovely's is not especially close to our house so we make this a special occasion destination (birthdays, special school milestones, out of town guests, etc.). Portland is a town with incredible pizza options... I had always placed Lovely's in my top 3, but I recently had a disappointing experience at Apizza Scholls and an incredible experience at Lovely's. Tonight I will rate Lovely's the best pizza in the city. Their mixed salad is so delicious and you can always count on a great glass of beer or wine. I seriously love this place! Now... about the ice cream. People always rave about Ruby Jewell and Salt and Straw... they are cute shops -- I want to like them, but seriously their ice cream does not come close. The salted caramel in the homemade cone at LOVELY'S cannot be beat. Seriously... you must come and try it. It is so GOOD! I am eagerly waiting for our next special occasion!

Yes, their pizza is delicious, but my favorite thing about this place is the ice cream. They have a rotating array of around 8 flavors, and the biggest problem is choosing between the classics (their salted caramel is the best thing I have ever tasted in my mouth) and the seasonal, simple flavors. I like that they don't try to be gimmicky like other places with weird hipster combinations - instead, they will have peach, and it will be the best peach ice cream you've ever tasted. Their home made waffle cones are so tasty as well, though they do break very easily.

This is the most over priced pizza joint I have ever been in. You can have a small salad for $9 or a 12" pizza for $17 or a scoop of great ice cream for $5+. The pizza was OK, the salad was pretty good but for the price? nah! Now the ice cream was worth the price and very tasty. Service was very good. Wine selection marginal. Seating and atmosphere was OK. Read all the reviews, I am not the only one who feels this way about this place.

Having a NYC-Italian-Brooklyn background, I am constantly on the hunt for top quality pizza. Up until about 10 years ago, it was really hard to find the pizza place that was such a step up. Given that I am a pizza snob at a fairly high level, it's a high bar - at least in how I measure it. Portland has one of those places that leaps past the bar and then some. Since we have family in Portland, I've been lucky enough to visit multiple times. each time we need to make a special visit to Lovely's Fifty-Fifty because I just can't get enough of their fantastic pies, and we've tried a number of them (all veggie to all meaty). I could go on and on about the different flavors/toppings, the amazing crust, the non-traditional but "how can you make it so good" pies but it would be a bit pointless. Go try 'em. Any one. You'll be happy. Very happy. Plus a good wine selection - and - and - AND - excellent ice cream!

The Pizza at Fifty Fifty is not cheap, but it's mighty fine! I am one who believes that even bad pizza is good, but I am positive that this place is far from bad pizza. I think the highlight is the thin, chewy, slightly charred crust on the outside. The toppings are unique and tasty. I felt like I was in food heaven while consuming this fine pizza. Wood fired pizza and finely done!

We ate here on an especially rainy and dreary night. It's a warm and welcoming restaurant, perfect for such weather. While I love Northwest microbrews, I was excited to try a Polish beer that was new to me here. I also ate some exceptionally delicious grilled green beans and a salad. But nothing compares to the pizzas, which had so, so much flavor. We ordered two pizzas that had some aggressive toppings -- chicory on one, taleggio on the other -- that were each amazingly delicious. The people here clearly know how to mix and match ingredients and coax the most taste out of them. I was blown away, something that doesn't happen very often at neighborhood pizza joints.

The food was delicious, unique, and locally sourced but a little pricey. Our 12 inch pizza was $30. The service was great, but you should be prepared to wait since they don't take reservations.

We scoped this place out online soon after we checked into our airbnb in nearby Buckman. The lure of wood - fired pizza, house made ice cream & craft beer was the perfect bait. Of course the high rating reviews were just our model so we decided to have dinner here on our first evening in Portland. We drove slowly down Mississippi Ave but it was packed out around 6pm so we found a parking spot in a back street for our huge SUV rental. We walked a few hundred yards down the main drag past various eateries & bars but decided none looked tempting enough to change our mind. The restaurant was very busy when we walked in around 6.30pm but a lovely hostess soon spotted us and escorted us to a table with a bird's eye view of the Italian wood - fired oven. A charming unpretentious male server named Jeremy helped us with our selection of a 12 inch pizza. We selected the house made Fennel Sausage with mixed Kale, Reggiano & Rosemary from the select menu. These guys are using the best quality ingredients and that is reflected in the $22 price of our pizza. I chose a 12 oz glass of the Boneyard 'RPM' IPA on tap which Jeremy earnestly suggested was a very good tasting beer. We were very happy with our choice of this eatery already just sitting at our table admiring the well oiled activity of the servers and the female pizza chef. I had no idea how long they had been in business but this crew knew their stuff ! They make their pizzas on sourdough bases here so that was something new to look forward to and we LOVE great tasting wood - fired pizza. Jeremy brought waters to our table followed in quick succession by my glass of beer and then our lovely looking pizza. My ice cold IPA tasted spot on and we both loved the texture and rich flavor of our pizza. With the pizza totally gone it was time to examine the ice cream menu. I knew which one I wanted the moment we walked in the door.....Rum Raisin while my wife chose the Meadow Foam Honey with Hazelnut Toffee. A female server came by and took our order for the ice cream which she brought back to our table. What great service in this place ! Well my bowl of Rum Raisin ice cream ( just one scoop ) tasted out of this world. It was always my favorite flavor growing up in Australia but really hard to find anywhere in the USA. My wife was over the moon with her huge single scoop of mind boggling ice cream sitting on top of her cone. If this restaurant was within cooee of our house in Southern California we would be in here at least once a week. Thanks for the wonderful pizza, my fabulous IPA, the incredible ice cream, the cool atmosphere and last but by no means less important ...the really sincere service of our talented server Jeremy. We loved the experience !

On extended family vacation, we were taken here by neice and nephew who are Portland residents. Nine of us ranging from 7 to 70, we ordered one of everything from the salad and pizza menu and shared. The only thing we could not agree upon was which dish was the most creative and satisfying. Some of us (the smarter among us) left room for ice cream. A perfect meal was had by all.

I took my college kid and his roommates here and it was great. The pizza was very good! The kids didn't want salad, but when they saw mine the dug in and I had to order another one. We were all too full for dessert, but the 50/50 refers to pizza/ice cream. I noticed people coming to the counter just for ice cream as well.

Wonderful wood oven pizza with usual toppings but very tasty. Noisy and open to the street but the food is great.

Being a pizza nut from the east coast I researched the best pizza in Portland before vacation and Lovely’s appeared on many lists/blogs. No question, this is the real deal charred wood-fired pizza and was delicious. Small place and there was a short wait and our name was taken down. We split a mixed salad with hazelnuts which was so tasty and shared one pizza, the fresh mozzarella with gremolata (chopped herbs). Simply perfection. I wish we had room for the homemade ice cream, which is on display as you walk in.

I absolutely love my Pizza´s and this place serves up some of the best Pizzas in Oregon. Love the dough using Oregon whole grains and the toppings absolutely delicious. Highly recommend for those pizzas lovers.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. The potato pie is life changing. Their ice cream is divine and their wine list is great. Also, if you get a pizza to-go, you can also grab a bottle of wine to-go too! Score!

We finally made it to Lovelys Fifty Fifty after hearing about it for months. It didn't disappoint- we enjoyed cured olives, fennel sausage pizza and the chocolate malted milk ball ice cream is literally life changing! We will go back for sure. Only thing is they fill up, go early or plan to wait in line...

Stopped in Fifty-Fifty on a busy Saturday night with my husband, son, his wife, and our toddler granddaughter. We waited at least 45 minutes for a table, but the basket of toys kept our granddaughter entertained. The wine, beer, and cocktail selection is more than adequate for a pizza joint. We shared the luisa chicory salad, ravioli, and brussels sprouts for appetizers. All were generous and good, but the ravioli was sensational. We ordered two pizzas, the fresh mozzarella and the black trumper mushroom. My favorite was the fresh mozzarella. The crust is perfection, not too thin, a little chewy, and baked well enough to hold the toppings. The tomato sauce is sweet. The serving size of the pizza is perfect for two healthy appetites. Prices are reasonable. We were too full to order dessert, but we did take a container of the salted caramel ice cream home. It is well worth the calories. Most of the people in Fifty-Fifty between 6:30 and 8:00 PM had small children with them. It's noisy, but the booths are large enough to accommodate children comfortably.

There are a ton of places to eat in Portland, but this spot should not be missed. Excellent wood fired pizza and hand made ice cream...they are dedicated to using local ingredients that are in season and it shows. Note that the menu online might not be the most current...the choices vary depending on what they get from the farmers. They let me customize a pizza with fennel sausage, caramelized onions, mushrooms and truffle cheese. We loved it and the roasted green bean appetizer was top notch. Finished the meal with Blackberry and Salted Caramel ice cream. If you don't want to eat dinner, you can still stop by and get some ice cream to go.

6 people shared 4 pizzas (+a kid pizza) & drinks for $120+ tip. Like many Portland foodie places, this one offers a twist on pizza ingredients but pulls it off fairly well. The crust is very yummy under any pie you choose. I'm more of a non-foodie kind of person and would've preferred to spend much less on a more traditionally topped pizza. They also serve/make ice cream, we didn't try any but saw lots of folks carrying some out. Come early, this place rapidly fills up and wait times can push an hour.... not worth that kind of wait in my opinion.

One of the nation’s top pizza places does not disappoint. Part of a multi-day pizza sampling of PDX’s top pizza places revealed this gem spot to offer unique gourmand pizza that’s unique. It is also one of if not the most expensive pizza in Portland. That being said if you are a pizza aficionado this is one not to miss.

I want to be polite here, but we just don't get it how this place has outstanding reviews (a bit confused). Service was great, but the food? Mediocre (especially when you take into consideration the price). Fun menu concept, failed execution. We ordered two pizzas (one yukon potato with egg, and the other with chanterelle mushrooms). Sadly, flavorless crust (reminds me of sour dough), no char. The shisito peppers over powered the mushrooms (flavor balance needs some adjustment). Potato and bread later on made me rethink my order as I realized it's starch on top of starch (and potato flavor plain). They look pretty though. We really wanted to like this place, but we weren't sold. Not fans.

My wife and I are in Portland on vacation and saw some favorable reviews for this place on other websites. Have to say it was awesome. I'm mostly a meat lover, so a lot of what was on the menu today wasn't exactly up my alley. Most have a meat with a green or two, but these folks know what they are doing. My 4 year old had a cheese pizza and we added copa (it was good), mine came out next, a home made sausage with chard, it was real good, then my wife's came out nettles with taleggio and panchetta (OMG) this was amazing. Then to finish it off with their salted caramel ice cream, again OMG. Please go to support these folks, so I can make sure they are still here when I come back next year!!!

We forgot how GOOD the pizza was at this lovely little neighborhood spot. Most people order 1 pizza per person but we just order 1 and split it since we both like the same topping. The crust fabulous and the toppings from the basic plain tomato and cheese to the exotic morel mushrooms are SO good. They also have homemade ice cream in flavors like wild ginger and salted caramel which is worth a stop by itself. We usually get a pint of 1/2 caramel and 1/2 another flavor to take home. It is not a big restaurant so at times the wait can be close to an hour but the area is a fun place to stroll on a nice evening.

We had a party of 6 for dinner and shared several pizzas and salads and everything was delicious. Everything is Farm to Table with the freshest ingredients. The tab was $200+ for a party of 6 with only 1 beer and 1 glass of wine....

Very unexpected pizza combinations like the spinach, roasted spring onions, shell peas, dill yogurt AND edible flowers. All on top of a wonderful, crispy but chewy crust. Very crowded and busy but staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Then when thought we could not eat anymore, tried homemade ice cream like the parsley vanilla. mmmmmm. Wish I had the capacity to eat for four people!!! A bit more expensive than your chain but still felt like a good deal gong home. This is a must try place.

I rarely eat pizza in the US since I am usually disappointed. However, this was not the case at Lovely's. We started with a warm spinach salad which was delicious, followed by the pizza topped with nettles, taleggio and pancetta. The combination was wonderful as was the thick but light crust of the pizza itself. I chose a reasonably priced chianti which was quite good and finished my meal with rosmarino vanilla bean gelato and a double espresso. The service was excellent and the restaurant was relatively quiet by Portland standards. This was one of the best meals I've had this year. Ho mangiato bene. Complimenti!!

Your favorite pizza will depend on lots of things. But if you like brick oven, you'll like Lovely's. One day this spring, the menu had aspargus pizza with an egg, nettle pizza. And pizza with morels. Hard to beat as an expression of Oregon spring. Like most pizza, it's better to eat in than take out - and I suspect that's especially true for the brick oven product. Also, after you've scarfed down more pizza than you should have (and no one would blame you), find a way to fit in some ice cream - it's as good as the pizza.
Hit's the spot for pizza & salad...
Passing thru we dropped in for dinner on 5/7/22. Service was decent and acceptable. We ordered the spring greens salad with hazelnuts that was so good we ordered another! Then on to the asparagus pizza that was very good but not great enough for 5 stars. All in all a good experience and would definitely go back if in the area.
