If your looking for some Cajun Cuisine with Low Country hospitality .....this is the place. Pick your spice level and dig in up to your elbows in peel n eat shrimp, crab, or other seafood. All served on bakers pans enpouche with Sweet Baby Reds and Corn on the Cob, in a savory Cajun sauce that is to die for. Little bits also included fried Calamari, Hushpuppies, Homemade Cornbread, and Fried Biegnet for Dessert. Just a heads up to ya’ll.....don’t try callin’ cause there to busy to answer the phone. 1st come, 1st serve. No reservations and street parking is tight so take an Uber. 4.5 miles From downtown Chi Town. A secret gem on the rim.

Getting to Wrigley field was not pleasant...2.5 hours to go 25 miles. Yikes! Not fun. Hubby could not wait to try Lowcountry. Did not disappoint. Perfect hand cut fries, steamed shrimp and crab legs and adult beverages. We took a chance and found an empty table in the basement bar. Great service and great food.

I was a bit apprehensive with a low-country experience in the City, but this restaurant gets High marks. First of all, my server was "Exceptional!" I wish I could remember her name but she was so accommodating, with excellent service and a very warm professional demeanor. The food was so good. We were a party of four, one had the craw fish, another shrimp, I had the mussels and crab legs. The flavors were on point, food was hot, and I could not get enough of the sauce slurped up. If you love garlic, its a sure winner! I will be back and I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy.

Went to this seafood boil restaurant on the recommendation of my brother who lives in chicago and it was a great choice! Delicious food and easy to share with another person! Tons of food! All 6 people in our group wanted to go back before we left town, it was that good!

This is a great place to stop after a cubs game for some amazing seafood. The team is quick to help you out with your selections and you won't be disappointed. The food is great the customers are great and the staff is great!!! this is a must stop when you are in the neighborhood!!!

Prepare to dive in to to good food, but, yes...messy! Casual, cool atmosphere. Fun to enjoy after a Cub's win as it is right in the heart of Wrigleyville. The jalapeño cornbread is a must! Have the Everything sauce on your seafood and don't forget to get the corn, potatoes and sausages, too... All delicious. A little disappointed in the crab. Small Snow crab and you needed to order two lbs minimum of Dungeness and we didn't want that much as we ordering the shrimp as well. King crab was very, very meaty, but hard to crack as it's covered in butter.

On my goodness!!! Lowcountry lived up to and exceeded our expectations for a wonderful pre-Wrigley Field dinner!! My wife and I ordered the Combo for One (1 pound of shrimp, 3 small ears of corn, 3 potatoes, 2 pieces of cornbread and a drink) and the Fried Shrimp (8 Fried Shrimp). My wife thought there might have been a little too much garlic in the sauce but I gave everything an A+++! It’s like a home-style Shrimp Boil without all of the hard work at home. Loved it!!!

I didn’t know what the ambiance at the restaurant was, I only knew it was food of the Carolinas. The setting is very laidback with music and sports on large screens. It’s like a big backyard outdoor sea boil. It feels like a family affair. The staff and other patrons were friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

Lowcountry has won a forever place in my heart. Casual ambiance, friendly service, beer and cocktails can accompany your meal. We sat at the bar, our bartender gave us free tequila shots (Hey Raymond!) he's amazing be sure to stop by say Hi and tip him if you grab a drink!😉 He also assisted us with ordering as it was my first, but definitely not my last visit! We had fried pickles and corned bread, and added sausage to accompany our king crab, shrimp, potatoes, and corn, in the spicy blend. "Expensive?" you ask. Quality, fresh seafood cooked to perfection always is. Do you get your money's worth is a better question...YES! So quit debating, splurge, live a little, whatever the occasion, birthday, date night, night with friends, or casual dinner (large parties call ahead because this small bench style restaurant/bar gets pretty packed) JUST GO TO LOWCOUNTRY! Thank me later!😉

Not an expert of the Cajun food at all but couldn't resist to their "mix all sauces" special! I know it sounds a bit gross but the result is really nice! You pay your seafood by the pound, pick a sauce and everything is mixted into a plastic bag which they then cut open in front of you. You will make a mess and have smelly fingers but it is really nice to share with people. The large tables covered with kraft papers which you share with everybody in the restaurant makes it a very friendly place. kids will love it as they can draw on the tables too! Very good selection of craft beers as well, which is a clear asset. Really a nice discovery.

We enjoyed our dinner at Lowcountry. We arrived about 5:30 and did not wait for a table but it was crowded by the time we left. The service was excellent. The food was very good but too garlicky for my taste.

Great concept with loading a bag with everything you ordered soaked in your choice or seasoning and spice. It can get a little messy so don't forget to use your bib. Prices are right in line with market prices. Great environment feels more like a bar than a seafood restaurant which makes Lowcountry stand out.

My friend and I went here one evening before a night of drinking and fun. The boiled seafood was delicious, the Cajun spice was on point and loved the shrimp. I can't wait for crawfish to come in season!!! The beignets were not very good!!

My spouse and I were in town for a long weekend and tried this place on Sunday evening. Service was great. And the food was even better. I will say, I love spicy foods and the "everythang" spice was a little more than I could handle. And I was surprised their sodas were in cans vs. refillable fountain drinks. I would highly recommend this place!

Our group of six is from the south and we know low county boil! Or so we thought! We have eaten it in Hilton Head, Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville and went to Chicago and had the best ever!!! It was incredible! Loved the food and the atmosphere. What a fun and delicious dinner.

The food is outstanding. We had a boil with crab legs, shrimp, potato, corn, and sausage with the everything sauce (all of the choices together - garlic, lemon/pepper, Cajun) at a "hot" heat level. Perfect seasoning level for my taste but husband probably would have gone one heat level higher. We also had one biscuit each. The biscuits are really big and very legit - tasted like the ones my mom made from scratch. Table is done right - paper laid down, roll of paper towels set out, and a bucket for shells. Two sinks sit in the middle of the restaurant so you can wash your hands when you are done eating. We drank beer and margaritas. The margaritas were excellent and they had a good beer selection. If you sit at the bar during happy hour and order food, drinks are half price. We finished off with the beignets. I had never had beignets before so I can't comment on authenticity but they tasted good. Atmosphere was nice and homey with communal picnic tables as well as four-tops. Service was excellent. Get there when they open at 5:00.

When I visit Chicago, I stay at the Blackstone, which is maybe a 10 minute walk from Lowcountry. That part of the South Loop doesn't have many restaurants at all - it's mostly colleges/residences. Thus, wanting to walk (vs. catch a car) to dinner, I wandered into Lowcountry on a whim. On the way, I was thinking, "What am I doing - I am going to a Charleston-themed seafood restaurant in Chicago?" I am so glad that I ignored my intuition and went. The food was outstanding, and for the quantity and quality, the prices are quite reasonable. My big complaints with other Lowcountry boils I've had has been the lack of seasoning. This place seasons aggressively, such that the flavors pop. The shrimp and crab I ate were of reasonable quality, and I liked the cornbread (I am from the South, where cornbread is a religion). I unabashedly recommend this place and am planning to go the next time I am in town.

No matter what you like or how spicy you like your food, this place never disappoints. You buy by the pound and choose how spicy you want it and you can add corn, sausage, and potatoes to it, if you like. Service has always been great and they have a nice size downstairs if you needed a big group function. If you like anything seafood, give it a try.

The service and food is extremely outstanding. i will return whenever i have a craving for perfect seafood

Had a great meal plus happy hour drinks in the bar. The bartender was friendly and generous. The food was hot and deliciously seasoned. My party liked it so much that we returned a second day for drinks. Sit in the bar so you can get the happy hour specials. Ring the bell and throw a die if you're want fate to decide which shots you get.

The food was really good. The service was just okay. We were a party of five with one check, and they added a 20% gratuity to it, without mention or asking. That offends me to the point of putting 1-star and never returning.

Been here about 5 times now and the food is always fantastic. I have tried the shrimp, snow crab, king crab, crawfish and dungeness crab and all have been cooked to perfection. I prefer to get "everything" seasoning with level 3 spice. Most people I go with prefer level 2 so just be aware 3 can be pretty spicy. The jalapeno cornbread is the perfect side. And happy hour at the bar from 5-7pm is half off beers and cocktails if you order any food item!

I love seafood and this is one of the best! Busy, noisy, crowded, on a Saturday night, but worth the wait. Customers sit at picnic tables, pick their seafood off the menu, the sauce and any sides. You wear a bib, your meal is brought in a bag, they slice it open at the table, and you are privy to the most delectable food. We ordered shrimp, mussels, crab legs and broccoli with the "everythang" sauce. It was heavenly. Also, it was so much food we had leftovers for tomorrow. You will love this food! It smells and tastes so good!

I have eaten at LowCountry (both locations) multiple times. My most recent visit was yesterday. Ordered the For Two and an order of sausage as well as a kids chicken nuggets. Normally the food incomes out steaming hot; yesterday it came out a bit fast and I found out why as the food was warm. But still good. Crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes and corn bread was delicious.

I was excited to try this place, and now I am obsessed. I went 3 times in a month! I have been bringing everyone I know because it is sooooo good. The shrimp, the mussels, the king crab legs- all have been amazing. The lobster is next to try on our list. The seafood is so fresh, the sauces are awesome, Garlic Level 2 is my favorite. I definitely recommend the potatoes as an add in.

A group of 10 of us dined here for my birthday celebration and every one of us loved the meal! It is extremely casual, and adorably decorated- carpet that look like grass and tables with red and white checkerboard tops. Essentially, you have an option to order 1 of 5 pre-set boils or you can design your own choosing a protein, veggies and sauce. They feature a lemon-pepper, garlic, and spicy or all of the above and in addition you can choose the intensity of the “heat”. Your soft drink is served from a can chosen from a cooler and you place your order at a counter. 20 minutes later, you are served a piping hot seafood bag and I promise you, you will not be disappointed. If your in the area, do not miss this place!

My son and I were visiting Chicago and ate dinner here one night. We didn’t k ow what to expect but we’re very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. Everything we had was wonderful!!

We were walking about after the Cubs had defeated the Reds and found this restaurant. The food was great and very reasonably priced, we had plenty of seafood for two people and the server was very pleasant and attentive. We had some wonderfully spiced shrimp and mussels with excellent sausage :) Would definitely go back!

Food was amazing! Great dinner before cubs game! Great service! Shrimp boil did not disappoint.. "everythang" sauce not spicy was perfect for me! And don't skip the beignets for dessert! It brought me back to Cafe du Monde!! Not quite that good but pretty close for the Midwest!

This is a very informal place for a seafood boil. Food is served family style. You order items by the pound and they are delivered in a boiling bag. We had two standard 2 pound bags which included corn, potatoes, shrimp and spices. We added andouille sausages and mussels. The whole thing was delivered and the bags opened. We dug in. We added corn bread and beers. A great meal. The only downer was the corn bread was undercooked and a bit soggy.

Ate here on a trip with my family while visting my brother who lives in Chicago. He had never been so we decided we would give it a try! IT WAS AMAZING!! I'm still thinking about it!! Our teenagers loved it also. We had 2lbs headless shrimp- (with all 3 sauces spice level 2), sausage, potatoes & corn, jalapeno cornbred, fried calamari, fried chicken bites & fried shrimp. We loved it ALL! Fun atmosphere, great server although I don't remember his name. We will definitely be back next time we're in town!! You must try it!! You won't be disappointed.

Ate at lowcountry with my family yesterday. I really enjoyed the food but the service was outstanding. My waiter (the receipt said Lebron, but I don't believe that was his name) was excellent. I've been to other crab boil restaurants however I LOVED that lowcountry has a bucket for your shells, they bring your food out on trays and cut open the bag. It's a lot less messy looking. My cocktail was delicious and food was great. I would definitely return.

This place was AMAZING! Very laid back atmosphere; delicious drinks, wonderful staff, AWESOME FOOD! We all left full and happy. The prices were reasonable and the portions were plentiful. Don't wear fancy clothes unless you don't care about the butter stains...LOL

If you've never had a low country boil dinner before, this is a great place to try it. It's a mish-mash of seafood heaven. Everything is boiled together and then brought to you in a plastic bag, cut open and voila! Eat! You get to choose what you want cooked together and the flavor you want. It's a great experience and the service is very good as well.

My friends and I have been wanting to try this place. We are due hard Angry Crab fans. Die hard. This place is a lot closer since we live in Old Town & Wrigley. Last night we decided to give it a try. OMG! I read all the reviews and thought everyone was crazy. How can a restaurant, in Wrigley, be better than Angry Crab? Well it was. Lowcountry blows Angry Crab away for me. Yes, I was quite shocked. Ok, so we started with a pound of headless shrimp, with "everythang", level 3. Delicious . It only got better from there. We ordered Lobster(which you have to order by 2lbs which makes sense because it's an entire Lobster), King Crab legs, more shrimp, Cajun fries, rice, must have corn bread, we got "everythang" on everythang! Some did level 2, the rest of the group did level 3 (my personal favorite). I asked for level 4 but the server talked me off the ledge and I'm glad he did because it was spicy enough but I could still taste the flavor of the food. Oh and someone ordered the popcorn chicken which was very good but I could care less about chicken at time like this. So, bottom line is, I have no need to go back to Angry Crab. Oh and we did Karaoke in the basement. Shout Out to Cole: the one man show running the bar downstairs and taking care of all the folks in the karaoke rooms. He was awesome. I hope this place stays this cool when summer hits because I will certainly going back.

It's rare when I review a hometown restaurant, but I just had to share my experience at Lowcountry! I was warned ahead of time that they did not accept reservations; however, I was not prepared for a 2 hour wait. The hostess offered to text us (a group of 6) when a table became available and we used an app that told us how many diners were ahead of us. So, we found a restaurant across the street and posted up at their bar while we waited for our table. The bartender wasn't prepared, so it actually took a half hour before we got our drinks...but that's a review for another time! Anyway, about an hour and forty-five minutes later, we saw from the app that there weren't any other diners in front of us, so we settled our bill and headed back across the street. We dined "communally" meaning we sat a large table, with other diners, on benches. The menu was pretty simple--you had your choice of seafood boils to choose from: shrimp, lobster, King, dungeness, and Alaskan crab, crawfish, and mussels. Next you selected your flavors: Cajun, lemon, garlic or "everythang" and your level of heat, with a 1 being the least and a 4 being the hottest. I selected a 3, but I'll get to that later. You also had the option of adding sausage, corn, and/or potatoes to your boil. I had the king and Alaskan crab along with the crawfish, corn and garlic beignets (yummy delish). The food came out on huge metal platters with huge plastic bags of food that had to be cut open by the servers. When the server asked me who had the level 3, he gave me a knowing wink and smile and wished me good luck! Man it was hot...but it was very well seasoned! Thank goodness I only had it on one of the boils. And I also realized, too late, that I had ordered WAY too much food; hence why I was in a food coma! But the food took me back to my Boston days, as the crab legs tasted fresh and sweet, as if they had been caught that morning. I brought home most of my dinner and saved the shells and seasoning, cooked them down and made a seafood broth that I froze to make gumbo. Although they provided plastic bibs, I strongly suggest NOT dressing up because we had garlic and seafood juice all over our hands, face, and clothes! I even got it in my hair! I now understand why they had the wash sink in the middle of the restaurant. A friend is having a karaoke party there in a month, but I don't know if I can wait that long to go back!!!

Lowcountry is a cross between a restaurant and fast food counter. You order at the counter and the staff delivers the food to you. The food was fresh and the beers were cold. Great place to catch a sporting event with a large group of people.

This place is awesome. My mom and I came here for restaurant week 2k18, when we arrived on Friday, the hostess told us it would be a 45-60 minute wait, so my mom and I decided to walk to the bar for drinks, before we finished our drinks, the hostess texted me to let us know our table was ready. The seafood was delicious, the number 2 Hot level is a little spicy, but not a first, the more you eat it, the spicier it gets. The honey butter jalapeno cornbread is amazing. The beignets were awesome. I will definitely be back. The two of us spent under $100 with tip and drinks, thanks restaurant week. You will get messy, do not wear white, be prepared to lick your fingers and use every paper towel at your table. They have opened a South Loop location too!!!

Great food !! Owner really Owns the dishes for sure !!! Service is great as much as the food. Very lively place to keep you engaged.

Decent place for seafood in a bag. Went on Friday night at about 8 and there 30 minute wait was only 10 minutes long. My SO and I both had the headless shrimp with sausage, corn and potatoes. I had lemon pepper mild and she had everything "ridiculously hot". Mine was flavorful, hers she said was slightly hotter than expected, but good. Sausage and corn are a great deal, but the sausage was just average. Shrimp elsewhere were slightly larger, but these are still good. Definitely worth a visit.

Great space, fresh seafood. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced. You have to try the Limeade!

my seafood boil was over cook. I told the server my food was nasty she told me no manger was in she took my information, Nobody have contact me about my services.

OK, I'm really reviewing the South Loop location because I've never been to the Lakeview restaurant. I started going to the South Loop location a couple of months ago, and have become a weekly seat warmer. I typically sit at the bar and enjoy my "seafood in a bag" and let me just say..."HELLA GOOD!" So much so, that I've turned my friends and family onto to it, and they sneak by frequently too! I love the casual vibe, the messy food, and the great drinks! The really TALL bartender, I can't recall his name, but he's super funny and very social. I love when he's bar tending and not table tending; that spot is so much livelier when he's on deck. There's a female bartender that remembers that I'm in there at least once a week, and she always remembers my drink "The Good Life." I appreciate that! That personal touch goes a long way and keeps me coming back. The prices and quality of food are better than The Angry Crab or Two Fish! 'Low Country South Loop'..well, they're stuck with me for the time being!

The food was so fresh and amazing looking. Very friendly and the food has plenty of flavor by level number. Owner was extremely kind.

Eat family style with paper down for your table... wear your bib....can get spicey...the books are the best.

Heard about Lowcountry from friends. Located in the Wrigleyville neighborhood not too far from the ballpark. It's seafood boil in a bag. Kinda confusing at first but the concept is a good one. You pick the type of shell fish that you want. Anything from shrimp to lobster. Pick your sides. Choose the spices (suggest getting "every thang") and the level of hotness you want. Grab some drinks, sit back at the communal table and wait for the feast to arrive. There are tables for 2 or 4 but the larger ones provide more room to eat and a place for the discards pail. They serve by the pound so you get a lot. There were 4 of us and 4 lbs was way too much. 3 would have been fine. You have to get the beignets for dessert. Awesome. It's on the loud side so conversation is challenging at times. Fun place.Very informal. You'll use your hands a lot to eat. Nice sink in the middle of the floor to wash up when you're done. And parking can be a challenge but Francesca's valet, a little south of Lowcountry, will take your ride. We'll be back. Have to try another boil...

Was down for a Cubs game and looking for seafood afterward. Found Lowcountry. It was our first time at a southern style seafood boil so we didn't know what to expect. The waiter was very helpful in explaining how to order. We settled on an "ala carte" order where we picked the seafood and sides. We were a little hesitant about ordering one of the group menus as we didn't have a good feel for portions. The food was delicious. Messy, but delicious. I would highly recommend this place as a destination or after a Cubs game.

We go to low country 1-2 times per year. They offer good seafood value for top quality products. The bartender is super friendly and we got in early during their half price drink special. Lots of seafood choices. We had the clams and Dungeness crab. Watch your spice choice however. We like spicy food, but their level 2 is hot. Level 3 is really hot. One final tip, take there reccomendation and wear a bib.

We had a group of eight, including teens and younger all enjoyed a delightful, messy, eat-off-the-table meal at this casual (but pretty expensive) seafood restaurant that features all manner of mollusk and shellfish sold by-the-pound and served Low Country boil style (albeit in large steaming bags) with your choice of sauce. You can skip the lobster tails (kinda small), but everything else we had from clams to king crab legs was spectacular. Warning...leave room or dessert because you WILL want a beignet or a fried Oreo (don't ask...just order one).

Fantastic! First time trying the Boil in a Bag and loved it. Generous portion. Everything well cooked. Several options for sauce. Sat at bar... excellent service. Busy area but had no problem finding meter parking.

I got the snow crab legs with potatoes and sausage. My husband got the Fried Catfish Sticks, calamari and cornbread. Wow. It was all so good but way too much for us to eat. Very good sauce.

Yum! This place is awesome! We were there on a Saturday night. We got there around 6:30 and were told there was an hour to an hour and a half wait. The good part is that they'll take your phone number and text you when your table is ready. It was perfect bc we went to a bar across the street and about an hour later we received the text. Also note that by 8:00 pm they were no longer seating people unless you already had your name in, so get there early. The restaurant has an outdoorsy feel and there are long tables - so you are sitting with other people. The food was amazing. We got the garlic beignets, Cajun fries and a pound of crab and a pound of crawfish. Everything from the cocktails to the delicious seasoning was on point. The service was ok, but I would've liked if the server came around a little more often and maybe asked we wanted another cocktail. I'll definitely be going back, though!

My sister lives in Chicago, & this weekend I have A CRAVEN FOR CRAB LEGS! Well she suggested a place called Angry Crab! I look a few reviews & LOW COUNTRY kepted coming up, so I said let's try it. I loved the area & the RESTURANT was bright & hip. The food was AWESOME!!! I chose the 1pound of head off shrimp & 1 pound of Crab legs, seasoned with EVERY THANG! WOW! It was delicious! My sis kepted comparing Angry Crab, & Low Country won every time! Thank you chefs, the food is delicious & seasoned to perfection! Service was great & the sink in middle of floor was spot on! Will come again!!!! Mp

Lowcountry. The name alone gives you a hint that you're in the right place for a Southern seafood boil, a Cajun treat with all the trimmings. Located at 3343 North Clark Street, in the Lakeview neighborhood, Lowcountry is one of three locations in Chicago. The others are at 1121 South Wabash in the South Loop and the other is at 2349 South Wentworth in Chinatown. There also is a location in Milwaukee. The Lakeview address is open from 5 to 10 Monday through Thursday, 5 to 11 Friday and Saturday and 4 to 9 Sunday. Like a fish boil in Door County, Wisconsin, a Cajun seafood boil is a pot full of tasty ingredients. Start with shrimp, add garlic sauce, then cocktail sauce, then andouille sausage, red potatoes, corn on the cob, green beans and coleslaw. Start with a bowl of seafood gumbo. Sides? How about jalapeno cornbread with honey butter and steamed jasmine rice? For dessert, true southerners pass up traditional key lime pie and profiteroles and creme brulee in favor of beignets with powdered sugar. Lowcountry really has that Louisiana River Road appeal.

We almost walked out, because from the waitperson it sounded like the choices were spicy to extremely spicy. (I like hot, but not my partner.) In fact, there were some great friend options that were delicious (loved the calamari). Some of the best potato salad ever. Good pickled vegetables. And the clams with garlic sauce (along with sausage) I got weren't that spicy after all...although I reeked of garlic for hours after. (But it was worth it.) Also a full bar and good selection of draft beers...I got an organic IPA that was terrific; my partner a Dogfish Head belgian-style beer (Namaste, I think).

Excellent food! Nice (but messy) meal. Good for the carb counters too. Great atmosphere especially with the Cubs game on.

This is a different restaurant. You feel that since the beginning of the experience. Great seafood and ultimately likely concept. I highly recommend the bucket of shrimps.

We had an unbelievably good New Year's Eve meal and cannot wait to order from again. We were told a two hour wait, and it was slightly less. It was also well worth it. Everything was well packaged and piping hot. The lobster is highly recommended, the crab legs were excellent, and the sauces were great (I recommend the Cajun). All sides were delicious (cornbread worth getting as an extra). Also, do not, whatever you do, leave out the deep fried oreos. I just wish we ordered another set! Looking forward to actually eating in restaurant in 2021!

Amazing low country seafood in North Chicago! I never would have expected this! Low Country is the real deal! My husband and I shared a large platter of 2 lbs of shrimp, a whole 2 pound lobster, corn, potatoes, and sausage all Cajun with a spice level 2 (slight kick). Simply amazing is all I can say and I regularly eat low country cuisine and even cook this way at home often and I will say this here is the best. On top of amazing food, thr service was stellar! Venture away from the Mag Mile and get a taste of this, you will not be sorry!
Wife bday dinner
My wife loves seafood. After doing a little research lowcountry was my top choice! Prices are reasonable and food was excellent. Will be back
