Good Food for a Good Price

By richandnanmassey |

A friend and I enjoyed a really good lunch for a very reasonable price at the Dallas Mockingbird Lubys. Lots of choices and they will even help with your tray if necessary. Always a good value.

Fresh

By jasonhaynes1985 |

This is one of the better Luby's I have been to in years. It was recently updated from the old decors that they have at their other locations. The food was good and fresh. Everything looked appealing to the eye. I would go back again. I had the chicken fried steak and some sides.

It is what I expected

The food was ok and the service was great. I'm not a huge fan of cafeteria food. The prices are quite high for the quality that you get.

Best baked chicken

By tenisheat2016 |

This was my first visit to luby's in quite some time. I placed a to go order. The staff was very nice and efficient. I had baked chicken with dressing that was seasoned perfectly. I had sides of broccoli & candid yams that were equally yummy. The meal was so great I made a 2nd visit later in the week and had the baked chicken again with green beans & macaroni. One of the best home style meals I've had in a while. Love this place.

Great food

By Ray M |

Stopped at Luby's for supper. Great assortment of food and it all looked good...............and it tasted great. I had some fried fish which was really tasty,,,,,,best I've had at a cafeteria in a long time. The hostesses in the eating area was very upbeat and had a smile on her face the whole time. The eating area was a bit dark. I would suggest a remodeling to make it lighter.......add better lighting. However, I would certainly go there again, the food was very good and there were lots of choices.

The food was surprisingly good, but...

The food really was better than we expected. But the carpet was so dirty - our feet stuck to it. It was so gross, and it makes me wonder about kitchen cleanliness.

Luby's Now open for Dine In June 2020

By Texas_Travel_1 |

I visited June 6, 2020. The cafeteria was open for dine in. The food was fresh and tasty. The busing/table clearing was in need of improvement. (Most tables were in need of clearing.). Staff was friendly.

Thanksgiving Dinner

By Laurie D |

Looking for a place to eat on Thanksgiving day? We found Luby's Cafeteria open. This employee owned restaurant was surprisingly good and a real value. For $10.95, we had turkey or ham, dressing, two choices of veggies, a dessert, and a roll. The food was very good and AMPLE. The servers and wait staff were in good humor. Of course, if you don't want turkey or ham, their whole serving line was available.

My favorite place for lunch

By Cherie B |

I always enjoy my meals at Luby's. I prefer a hot meal with veggies for lunch over a sandwich or burger and Luby's satisfies my food plan due to the variety of options. Another reason that I enjoy going to Luby's is that the portion sizes are ample for me to add an additional veggie or side and it becomes either my husband's dinner or mine. I just never eat all of my food because I also typically get a soup and then I don't need my entree. This visit I enjoyed a green chili chicken soup. So good! I ordered take out for our dinner of chicken fried chicken, with twice baked potatoes, green beans, and cornbread muffin. My husband enjoys these meals as much as he does when I personally cook. Luby's is a favorite bec it's consistent and food looks good, served at proper temp, and the prices are good.

First Time In More The 20 Years

By texaswillie |

We were surprised at how busy this location was for lunch today. The restaurant was at least 75% full. We ordered the liver and onions plus sweet potatoes, cabbage, green bean and cabbage. The cost of a full plate was $8.49 and a small portion LuAnn plate $7.99. Did you know you can get the same LuAnn pate 3-5PM if you are a senior for $5.99? The food was just warm and we saw some other customers sending their food back to get it warmed. We should have, but did not. The liver was very good and was covered with fried onions. The green beans were good---right out of a can. The sweet potatoes were very good. The cabbage had it been at least warm would have been good. Not as greasy as the last time I ordered cabbage at Lubys. The seasoned greens needed more seasoning of some type and they too needed to be warmed. We both had corn bread and you could certainly tell it was made form large grains ground corn as the insides of the bread were grainy. There were a couple of people in the dining room that came by to see if you needed anything and they both were excellent. They worked very hard to keep the tables clean and to bring back drinks, etc. They do expect a tip and I noticed most tables when the customer left did no contain a tip. Bottom line---this is not gourmet foods but rather bulk food right out of a large can, at least that is what it tasted like. Luby's many years ago was noted for its quality of food however I cannot place this food in that category. The food is filling and the servings were ample.

I love this classic old school cafeteria.

It is hard to find a classic old school cafeteria like this! The food selection and quality are alrways excellent. This is always on my go to list when in Dallas!

The BEST Luby's

By 933jeremiahj |

This is one of the BEST Luby's location in the Dallas area! For the most part the food is very consistent and the staff is very nice! My family eats at this location at least 3-4 times a week! Lunch and Dinner is better than Breakfast so far!

Luby’s Family Packs To Go!

Stopped by to purchase two pecan pies! Very busy restaurant. Manager was extremely courteous and helpful.

Always Good and Easy

Good food, no hassle, and open during the Super Bowl! We love the simple pleasure that is Luby's. It's one of the best places for a family.

What a Place!

By Real_in_NYC |

I had never heard of Luby's before my recent visit to Dallas. I didn't know what to expect. So many choices. It was almost overwhelming. I ordered a custom made salad and when I saw the size of it, I didn't order anything else. I added as much of all the extras (mushrooms, onions, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, radishes, etc.) to the salad that I wanted, at no extra cost. The salad cost less than $3.00. It was so filling that I didn't need to order anything else. My companion had the chicken fried chicken, cabbage and macaroni and cheese. The meal came with either biscuits or Jalapeno cornbread. When you get ready to leave, they ask if you want a go cup of your beverage. The staff was provided excellent service. We went on a Sunday evening around 6 p.m. There is plenty of seating.

I ate way too much

By Adrian S |

I do love me some Luby's, but this was my first trip in a long while. I worked through lunch and since I was running late to work, I skipped breakfast. The only thing on my mind was a chicken fried steak. Or turkey. OR a chicken fried chicken. I couldn't make up my mind, so I ordered the cfs plus a salad and a slice of Turkey. At the end of the meal, you know, six minutes later, my stomach was full and I was a very happy man...until the tryptophan kicked in. But that wasn't Luby's fault! And I'd do it again.

Very nice breakfast

The food was good and the price was good as well. All you can eat breakfast, we will go there again. Nice staff.

Located on Midway Road in Farmers Branch

By TallTexWally |

I enjoyed lunch at the Luby's Cafeteria location in Farmers Branch. It's just north of the LBJ Freeway on Midway Road. It's a popular place since there was a long line of people waiting to go down the serving line. I always find the food good and tasty at any Luby's location. I would definitely dine here again the next time I'm in this area of the Dallas Metroplex. I wish we still had a Luby's Cafeteria in Texarkana, TX, where I live.

Good hot food

By brontz |

We were on a bus trip touring Fort worth, and Dallas we arrived for dinner about 6:00 pm. The bus contained about thirty three passengers, the staff was very friendly and efficient. The food was hot and tasty. The dessert was wonderful.

Never miss Texas family fare

By 4Family4FunNY |

Luby's stays in our hearts and we are grateful for this real Texas food. It's just like my grandmother used to make on Sundays.

Does Not Disappoint

By Real_in_NYC |

Luby's was first on my list for this Dallas trip. The food is diverse, fresh, plentiful and reasonably priced. There is so much variety. I had the chicken fried pork chops on this trip. They give you two pork chops. I also had the cabbage and the Lima beans. I had the cabbage before. Both were delicious. Try the side salad, you can get as many and as much of the vegetables that you want for $3.99. It's extra if you had add a protein. Be prepared for leftovers. They serve you cafeteria style. If there is a line, it goes quickly. They have plenty of seating.

Easter Dinner

By Cynthia MacKenna |

Well I've never eaten Luby's before and I don't know why not . I had a long week at work and no time to prepare for Easter . Well there's a Luby's Ive been wanting to try close to me and I got the Stuffed Catfish special and it was awesome !!! For my sides I got candied yams , spinach , mac & cheese , dinner salad , jalapeno cornbread as well as a white roll along with a side of ham . This combination was great for Easter along with the Southern flare of flavor . I was going to wait to eat it at dinner time for I had gotten it to go . Well I tried a couple tastes and IT WAS ON !!! Luby's you now have a new regular . THANK YOU for a great Easter meal !!!

Terrible experience

By rboykins71 |

I have not eaten at this location in years. The food was awful. The food has changed. I ordered the roast beef with cabbage and fried okra. They do not follow great food practices when serving. The line was slow and long. The roast beef was seasonless, the fried okra was hard, and the cabbage was undercooked. This was awful. The dinner roll was hard as a rock. The price paid was well overpriced. This is their signature meal.

Average food at low prices with excellent service

By Inquilinus |

Baked chicken was very good. Bread products, especially corn breads, were overcooked and dry. Desserts appeared to have been prepared with canned fillings.

Lunch

By E… |

Eat lunch here about twice a month. Food is always good and portions are more than enough. They do have smaller meals. Staff is friendly. Restaurant is always very clean.
