Delicious and authentic Hong Kong style vegetarian cuisine. No meat, whatsoever, you won't need it. Some dishes are gluten free as well.

We had teh thrill of sharing this hidden treasure wtih friends today. Tho it is a tiny place on the hill of Chinatown it is one of the best totally vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown. One can order anything on the menu and atho it may say sweet and sour pork it is all made wtih soy and gluten and tastes fantastic. The servings are ample and always leftovers. You can also buy five different varieties of the vegi lguten Meat" products at the counter for take out if you didn't get enough. Tho the reviews vary on this restaurat I really reccommend it and think you will find it so too. There are onyl five tables in it adn you may be asked to share a table wtih other diners but tis worth it! Its been here fro many years.

I had fried bean curd, potstickers, mixed vegetables and chow mein noodles with a side of steamed rice. Everything was delicious. The waitress was singing as she waited tables and since the place is so small, I could hear her lovely voice while I ate. They do a very good business with takeout as I saw many people come in and out, picking up orders. I also noticed that I was the only non-Asian in the place for quite a while, so it must be a favorite of the locals too! After an afternoon of massive shopping, this place was a perfect closing. Can't wait to get back there!

It's been months, and I'm sttill trying to find someplace back home that is even half as good. Yes, my aunt and I were the only english speaking, white people in the restaurant, and it is a bit cramped and dingy. But it is still, hands down, some of the best food that I have ever eaten. If I lived in SF, I would definitely be a regular.

Food was not that great. Better off ordering steam rice rather than fried rice cause it was hardly fried and was a bit watery. The curry and the tofu were not seasoned enough. Staff member were not that interactive. If you're in a rush to get food then I guess it's ok but otherwise I wouldn't go here for quality dining.

I stumbled acress while visiting Chinatown with my (vegetarian) aunt. This is definitely a hole in the wall, so if you're looking for anything posh, bright, cherry, or sterile, keep looking. My aunt and I were the only non-Asian's in the restaurant and may have been the only ones that only spoke English. This was the best Chinese food that we have ever had in a restaurant. We had spring rolls, pot stickers, braised mixed vegetables (clay pot), and shredded mushroom chow mein. The portions were more than we could eat in one sitting and we would have taken our leftovers "to go" if our hotel room had a way to reheat the food. If I lived in SF, I could definitely see myself eating here on a regular basis.

As a vegetarian, I was really excited to try this place. What sealed the deal for our group was that it was located centrally in Chinatown, which was an area we all wanted to visit. The restaurant itself was a charming, if bit dated hole in the wall. Service was very good and prices are extremely reasonable. My favorite dish was the deep fried taro appetizer. Did not enjoy the bean cake appetizer as the tofu was very dry and flavorless. We also ordered the taro imitation fish and spicy curry noodles. Both were a bit underwhelming. Sauce on the noodles was a strange, gloppy consistency and not as spicy as I would have liked. Most of the food also seemed overly greasy. After having a sit down meal we realized that we probably would have been happier ordering from the dim sum case up front, as everyone in our party really enjoyed the vegetable dumplings we requested. Tea was definitely a delicious highlight of this meal. Overall, prices are pretty reflective of what you get. I like a lot more flavor and imagination with my vegetarian food, but the meal wasn't inedible. Wouldn't necessarily be clamoring to return to Lucky Creation, but it was an average vegetarian meal.

We took the business daily lunch deals, was very good, would have definitely return...

Saw this place as we went to visit the fortune cookie factory and decided to pop back later for lunch. Glad we did. Had the lunch special which allowed us to pick four dishes from a list of seven and it came on a large plate with rice. As there were two of us, we ordered all seven dishes and doubled up on the spring rolls. The food was absolutely delicious. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed chinese food so much. The sweet and sour dish was awesome!! The place was full of local chinese people and we had to share a table which was actually quite nice. For less than $10 per person, you can't go wrong with this.

Great staff, food really good and plentiful. Does not look much from outside but more than worth the visit. Had two mains plus Chinese tea for 16 dollars.

Excellent vegetarian Chinese food. Service was fast. Food was fresh and hot. Didn't like that you have to pay for tea. Other than that it was a great meal.

Don’t be put off from the outside (and interior) decor! This is a refreshing meat free Chinese restaurant earthing a range of veggie options including tofu and soya based meals. We had the lucky creation chow mien and chicken style rice- both delicious. The spring rolls were a real show stopper. This is not the place for a fancy dinner or lunch but a real hidden gem for a good, authentic, meat free meal

On holiday with a friend and her children, one of who is a vegetarian so after a Google search of vegetarian restaurants in San Francisco we decided to try Lucky Creation - I am so glad we did. 3 non vegetarians were extremely pleasantly surprised with just how delicious, and tasty our dishes were. Thankfully we'd all agreed to try each others dishes as each one looked so good we were all wishing we'd ordered what the other had The staff were extremely friendly and one of the recommendations from the specials list was an absolute hit - so good we ordered a second helping. Do not be deterred by the appearance of this place, it may be small and not lavishly furnished but the food is definitely top notch

My girlfriend and I (we're both Chinese; I'm largely vegetarian) stumbled upon this place while strolling thru Chinatown. I'd neglected to check TripAdvisor before our trip there. It's sort of a hole in the wall, and the decor is average. However, the food was excellent, tasty and not pricey. We ordered the luncheon special, which provided a variety of dishes. There is also takeout for those who prefer dining elsewhere. Of interest, the majority of patrons were non-Asian. There was one Buddhist.

We have loved this restaurant for several years now. The Wheat Gluten Puff combination, served room temperature, is a perfectly prepared sampler of unique flavors to rotate between. Each flavor may be reminiscent of a certain meat-based Chinese delicacy, but you don't have to think of meat to find each flavor delicious. Order a large and you can take some home. We are also big fans of the Mixed Vegetables in Golden Nest, which is far better than the other golden nest dish featuring mushrooms because, paradoxically, it has a greater variety of fancy mushrooms in it and the nest is ringed by perfectly cooked broccoli. Finally we adore the "Lemon Chicken" which is made out of mung beans. You wouldn't know it. These non-chicken cutlets are hot, tender and served in a tangy lemon sauce. Be sure to bring cash. The only real downside to this small family-style restaurant is the tiny old bathroom tucked into the kitchen area. But honestly: this is old Chinatown, and remodeling options are limited.

It's a hole in the wall, but it is vegetarian glorious. I can't get enough of the "chicken" fried rice and the sweet n' sour "pork". You may have to sit with strangers when it's packed, and the service is ...quick (well it's Chinatown). But the food and price outweighs all.

My wife & I were visiting family in the South Bay area and spent two nights in the city itself. One of our specific delights was to eat in Chinatown, which, as you can imagine, is quite busy and well-populated with stores and eateries. On several corners, recruiters will stand to encourage the numerous visitors to partake in their specific establishment. As it was getting later and later, our stomachs were telling us to stop & eat; one persons portrayal of their eatery convinced us to go there. Unfortunately, many other people had the same feelings, so when we entered the eatery, we had to wait. But the palate can only wait so long before we decided the wait would be too long and we chanced that another eatery would not only be open, but we'd also not have to wait. Our risk paid off, going down a side street to this fabulous small eatery--one large table had just been vacated and we were seated immediately. We ended up sharing it with three other delightful seasonal natural resource agents from NomeAK, who were great conversationalists. The vegetarian meals were scrumptious, served promptly and plentiful, with excellent prices!

this is a hole in the wall sort of place. The hot and sour soup is spectacular and if you have nothing else you will have had a good meal. The style is Hong Kong Chinese- similar to Cantonese {based on the old city of Canton/Guangzhou] The only draw back is that it is cash only Not good for late dinners as closes at 8pm

the food was great. we ate there several times. the staff is very friendly and helpful. the only drawbacks are that they do not accept credit cards and are closed on wednesday.

And the couple ahead of us asked for the stuff by the cash register to be warmed up, that's the gluten puff thing with the different sauces... Do ask for it and do ask for it to be heated up. They served it room temp for us, I don't recommend that. I like supporting veggie restaurants, this one was very good and I recommend it, but not great.

Took my 13 year old son up to San Francisco for a weekend getaway. When figuring out where to go for lunch, he announced he wanted Chinese food. When in SF, where do you go but to Chinatown! This was the first vegetarian restaurant we came across and I am so happy it was. Don't expect fancy at this place as it is old school San Francisco small hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. Because we came at lunch, my son was able to order one of their lunch specials and got to choose 4 items (chow mein, potstickers, fried wontons & eggrolls) while I ordered the lemon chicken entree with a side of rice. Living in Southern California, my son is used to Pick up Stix & Panda Express for asian food so he was very surprised at the difference between americanized asian food vs real chinese food! He raved about everything on his plate... he even loved my lemon chicken! The lemon chicken was a large cutlet cut into 8 pieces and had a lemon sauce over it. The lemon sauce had a fresh & light flavor which enhanced the cutlet wonderfully. Since coming home, I have scoured our area for a Chinese vegetarian restaurant that comes close to Lucky Creation and have had no luck. Living in Southern California, it shouldn't be that difficult but I was so spoiled at Lucky Creation, I may never find something similar.

We eat here whenever we visit San Francisco. The menu offers an extensive variety and there are also tasty dishes in the counter as you walk in. Our favorite is the mixed gluten. Service was very good and the staff very friendly. Highly recommended!

We asked the front desk in our hotel to direct us to a vegetarian restaurant and this is where she sent us. Except for the fried wonton appetizer which was freshly prepared and o.k. the other dishes were bland and tasted the same. Before leaving we used the restroom, accessed via the kitchen. I believe if we'd used them before our meal we would have walked right out of the restaurant...

A wonderful vegetarian restaurant! Fresh, large portions you can share, good prices, and a nice atmosphere. You know the food is good when the locals come in to eat. All in all, very good. I’d go again.

Not much for atmosphere, but it has some really good vegetarian Chinese food!

First of all we do not like sharing tables. We were sat in a table that fits 8. We ordered before the first family sat at our table but they got their food before us. The asked to be moved to the next open table and after they moved another family was sat with us. They too received their food before us!! It turns out they forgot our order. One hour later we were served and the food tasted like cardboard with salt and pepper. Terrible Terrible Terrible. Do not eat here.

I went to school in Berkeley and we would go over to the city for food often. My favorite place 20 years ago was lucky creation. I have spent the last 20 years looking for a place just as good - no luck. So when we stopped in the city on a family vacation my only request was lunch at lucky creation. Still just as good, especially the taro fish.

I ate solo, and it has a very pleasant, simple atmosphere. The table across from me had what appeared to be a group of Buddhist monks, so I figure that gave the place a sense of some legitimacy. I ordered a Vegetable/Tofu/Vermicelli Clay Pot which was fairly pleasant. However, they gave me a bowl of brown rice with it - and in this I found a long black human hair. I ate the clay pot dish, but despite my trying not to let it, the sight of the hair did take away from my ability to enjoy it.

We stopped at this restaurant because it advertised that is was vegetarian with vegan options. It was fantastic. Not big and does not draw you in with the decor however the food was excellent. We had the clay pots, fried rice and pot stickers. Food came quickly and the tea was good also. Only thing is it only takes cash for payment.

Whether you are walking uphill to the cable car museum or downhill from it don't forget to stop in for a trip back into the past hosted by three lovely ladies who will treat you like royalty. The décor is strictly formica, plastic and casual curtains, but the food is the star of the show. Try the soup bowls of various exotic mushroom or the cabbage and noodles and you will note even the broth is made with care. Delight in the surroundings, its from an era many moons ago, yet still vital today. Slightly off the beaten track from the heart of Chinatown restaurants, but well worth the effort.

Small hole in the wall vegetarian/vegan Chinese food. Came here mostly for the vegetarian dumplings which were amazing! We also got potstickers which were some of the best potstickers I’ve ever had. We also got wonton noodle soup which was meh... probs would not order again as it is a bit bland. Loved the wontons (I’m a sucker for dumplings/ won tons/ potstickers if you haven’t noticed by now). The number 3 on the specials was okay, I believe it was the pork with vermicelli noodles. I’ve never had anything like it before. The pork was pretty good! Would eat here again, but would only order the dumplings and potstickers again. I would definitely like to try more things on the menu (there’s a ton of things to choose from). Good authentic vegetarian/vegan food in Chinatown. **cash only!

Stopped in because of the good Trip Advisor reviews. Ordered a chicken dish, a fried rice dish and their sampler platter of appetizers. Potstickers were great and the fried rice was very good. Most everything else was ok but (sorry to say) nothing to write home about. Pretty friendly staff and a nice lunch crowd of (apparently) mostly locals. Prices are reasonable, maybe even inexpensive for downtown San Francisco.

Yummy chinese vegetarian glutinous meats.

A small place off the main street. They were accommodating to steaming food and not using oil. Prices were very reasonable. Vegetables were not as flavorful, so needed lots of soy sauce. On a side note, this is a CASH only restaurant. Nothing was posted on the doors or inside. Nice waitress.

Given this restaurant had a 4 star rating by trip advisor I was expecting something good. The food was typical bad western-Chinese food with over reliance on corn starch to thicken the sauces. Black mushrooms were the standard Chinese dried mushrooms you get straight from a packet. Chrysanthemum tea and steamed rice were the nicest things I had there.

If bugs make it into your dish, the kitchen is swarming in dirt and bugs. This bug was found in my dish near the end of my meal. It is disgusting to find bugs in food, and is completely unacceptable. Not very vegan! I recommend to not come here under any circumstances, and to avoid this place. If there was a bug in my food, the chances of a bug in your food at the same restaurant is also high. Now doubting if the fake 'meat' is even vegan now too. AVOID

It was very good and recommended by locals. The "not" chicken dishes were surprisingly good!! Decent prices.

Ordered the bean curd sheets with lemon sauce on the recommendation of another reviewer. Really tasty and unusual, but would have preferred it if I had been ordering a bunch of dishes to split with others. The tofu sheets are deep-fried so it doesn't really make for a balanced meal. I did get a side of steamed broccoli which was also really good dipped in the lemon sauce. Would definitely try the place again.

Yum!

We were welcomed very heartily at Lucky Creation, and the owner was very helpful in explaining the large vegetarian menue to us and helping us pick some of the delicious-sounding dishes. She was incredibly helpful in working around allergies, and able to cater for special requests without any problems. The portions were huge and prepared with love (carrots in our soup were cut into star shapes, for example), and served with dedication too. We felt welcome and very well catered for. And all the food was delicious! The prices were very fair, the restaurant only takes cash. Would definitely go again!!!

Amazing vegetarian food.

With prices ranging from about $5-10, any budget traveler can find a value here. The food is terrific, authentic Chinese food in the heart of Chinatown. We got one of the "nest" plates, where your food is served in a bowl of shredded deep-fried potato, and it was terrific!

I have been going to this restaurant for years. It's great. The stuffed bean curd rolls and wonton soup are excellent. It's all vegetarian. Don't forget a sesame ball for dessert!

We came across this little jewel of a place whilst wandering around Chinatown. As non meat eaters we often feel restricted in authentic chinese restaurants as you can never be quite sure what you are eating!! What a treat to be able to order anything at Lucky Creation. The food is imaginative and fresh and the service was personal and lovely. the prices are low but the quality is not. The restaurant was buzzing with visitors and locals. A word of warning is the decor is from the 1970's and it was pretty tatty. If you can get past that you will be in for a real veggie treat.

This is such delicious food! Lots of dumplings, mock meat dishes, noodles, rice and best of all, veggie roast pork buns (char sei baos)!!! Amazing! Not the best atmosphere, more like a cafe, but totally authentic! Get take out and eat it in the square that's downhill from it if you don't like the atmosphere when you walk in....the food will transcend the decor and you won't care where you're eating! We got lots to take home to feast on later! Just a reminder, it's cash only, but there is a bank up the road!

My friend Bernice (an awesome lady who knows her places in SF) took me out to this place twice. I love thier food out here. It's one of these places that supports that vegetarians can eat well too.

We have eaten here on each of our last several visit to San Francisco. We love the food. My wife is neither vegan nor vegetarian but chose to come here for lunch both days of our two day visit because we enjoyed the food so much on the first day. The menu is extensive. In addition, the items in the front counter and the dim sum are delicious. We particularly enjoy the varieties of gluten--order the mixed gluten and try them all. Some reviews complain about cleanliness. We found it clean though certainly old and not sparkling. Yes, the toilets are adjacent to the kitchen but they were very clean and well supplied. The place is tiny -- where else can they put them? The atmosphere is what I expect in small restaurants in any American Chinatown. If you want new furniture and brilliant white napkins, look elsewhere. The staff out front were very friendly and welcoming.

I went there today after scouting around for the best of the vegan/vegetarian asian options around San Fran. This was the closest to our hotel, so made the cut. SO HAPPY WE WENT. The area is pretty funky - a real chinatown vibe - and from the outside this place looks unassuming. To be fair it's pretty unassuming inside too, but I think that adds to the charm! There was a bunch of older Chinese ladies peeling beans and cutting carrots while laughing and chatting amongst themselves, it felt like we had stepped into an authentic eatery for locals in any area of Guangdong. The philosophy behind the food is that 'health is wealth' so the lack of meat and dairy on the menu really has its roots in wellbeing and longevity. You are advised to 'relax and have a healthy life!' The creations are all based on traditional Chinese dishes but simply using tofu, wheat gluten (seitan), mushrooms, or other vegetables. My partner, whose favourite thing to order on any menu ever is char siu bao, said that the ones here were literally indistinguishable. We also had the 'sliced pork tenderloin with vermicelli' - again, indistinguishable - and the 'goose with black bean' which, while not exactly what I expected (I've never had Chinese crispy goose anyway) was delicious. The real star was the 'wheat gluten puff combination'. I think basically seitan cooked in different sauces and styles. Whilst this doesn't have the most appetising name, it really was awesome and delicious. I'm so happy I came here and wish I lives in San Fransisco for this restaurant alone. When this stuff is available, it really baffles me why people feel the need to eat meat at all. TRY IT!

We happened upon this little restaurant in Chinatown. We ordered the Taro Roll appetizer. It was amazing delicious! I was so sad we had just tried a nearby Chinese bakery. We were not hungry enough to order much. I would have loved to try a ton of appetizers. The tea was subtle and perfect. I cannot recommend the taro rolls enough! We had them with a sweet dipping sauce and Sambal hot sauce. I will be back to this restaurant on future trips to SF.

I was walking around Chinatown for the afternoon and stopped into Lucky Creation for lunch. Lots of great vegan options! Especially enjoyed the dumplings and fried rice. Highly recommend!

Great vegetarian Chinese food in San Francisco! We ordered the imitation sweet and sour pork, hot and sour soup, eggplant black bean clay pot, the vegetable vermicelli clay pot, and of course the vegetable spring rolls! It was all absolutely delicious — highly recommend visiting Lucky Creations when on the look for vegetarian Chinese food!

We scouted out for a vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown, and I really wanted to like it because it seemed really authentic, but the food is very poor. We barely ate it, and left the rest.

If you are looking for vegetarian Asian food this is the place to go. Our son is vegan and we are always looking for a place we can share. Lucky Creation is a GREAT neighborhood place so expect to have to wait. The menu is all vegetarian, with lots of creative features.

A very simple traditional Chinese restaurant with a great dim sum selection. I dropped by for a quick lunch after being in Chinatown before a flight out of SF and finding this place after searching “vegetarian food nearby”. I was very pleased with my fried rice that I ordered and the waitress was very kind. There are some things that aren’t on the menu that you may have to ask about. Such as the bao zi. I saw them in the glass case so asked about them but didn’t see them on the menu. Overall I was very pleased with my meal and how quickly it came out. Only docking points because the bao zi was disappointingly dry.

I have eaten here twice and it is incredibly welcoming and the food is really rustic. The crispy wonton is light and incredibly moreish. I also recommend the mock goose as a main course. The portions is really large and this is great value for money. You will have change for some great deserts. We had the sweet bean to take out and it was only a dollar for one. What sets this restaurant apart is the welcome you receive. You feel 'looked after' from the minute you arrive. The staff are attentive and interested in what you think about the food. If you are sick of china town restaurants that look great but don't deliver on the food, then Lucky Creation is for you. It may not have 'the look' but it has character, warmth and great food which is resally cheap. Hence - 5/5 from me.

This restaurant has started business for more than 20 years. the furniture is old, but food was very delicious! And price is reasonable for me! I am a buddhist vegetarian, so it is a right place for me because no green onion and garlic in the meal!

Always stop by here when in SF. Always end up with eyes bigger than my stomach - but the food is just too good :-) Don't expect anything fancy - it's got a decor that was going out of fashion in the 50s. But you can tell that the 3 women running it take it very seriously and are justifiable proud of their restaurant.

I go here whenever I can and I've been doing so for about a quarter century now. Although not everything is strong on their really big menu of veg Chinese food, there are some foods that are simply outstanding. I especially want to shout out my fav: #18, Stuffed tofu, eggplant, and pepper (stuffed with a taro mixture) in a sizzling black bean sauce. It is not only excellent, delicious, and filling, but you literally cannot get this dish anywhere else in the world. I typically like to eat in and have tea with my meal, but today was a quickie, so I got some dim sum to go. I seriously can't get enough of their dumplings, but the turnip cakes, tofu skin rolls, seaweed rolls, and other stuff is really good, too. I always walk in hungry and happy, then eventually leave full and happy. As it should be.

Located in the heart of Chinatown, Lucky Creation is the best of the Chinese vegetarian restaurants in San Francisco. While not the biggest or necessarily the cleanest, it has terrific food at good prices that can’t be found anywhere else. From their delicious dim sum (e.g., turnip cakes, bean curd sausage, dumplings) to their wonderful dishes of taro-stuffed tofu, eggplant, and green bell peppers with a sizzling black bean sauce, bean curd curry with bok choy, and lemon bean curd skin on their voluminous menu, you are sure to come away not only fully satisfied but also plotting your next visit. Too bad they don’t have a brown rice option. Lucky Creation is truly a gem in the rough.

My wife and I had a wonderful vegetarian lunch after exploring Chinatown and visiting the Cable Car museum! The Chinese broccoli was tasty and I loved the tea.

I asked a Hong Kong massage therapist for directions to a vegetable restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown. Angie suggested, Lucky Creation on Washington St, between Stockton and Grant Ave The place is small and humble, but they do know how to cook and the importance of dish presentation. My vegetables and mushrooms rested on an edible nest made of potatoes. I also had a dish of nail size mushrooms mixed in with julienne carrots, over bok choy. I walked out feeling full and pleased that I ate my vegetables to stay healthy

I visited this establishment on the first day of the Lunar New Year 2020, and there was a line outside the door for a table. Being a lone diner, they seated me at a table with another diner (shared the table). That's fine with me, it makes for good company. It is a tradition for the Chinese to eat a vegetarian lunch on the first day of the Lunar New Year, so the place was packed! This is the only "vegetarian-only" restaurant I could find in Chinatown and I was glad to discover it. I ordered #16 from the menu (see photo) and loved it. For the food I would give this restaurant five stars. I knocked one star off for being "profiled" as a non local (I look American). It was very obvious that the more "local-looking" people were served a different tea (light green, fresh/premium looking) whereas the non-locals were served a brown tea that tasted slightly old. I still gave the server a 45% tip because the food was so good, but being profiled and served a lesser quality tea prompted me to write this with the not-quite-5-star review and a heads-up for others that want to enjoy their delicious vegetarian food.

I highly recommend the Won Tons, crispy chow mien and the corn chowder. The staff is helpful and nice. I would, recommend not going to the restroom because you have to go through the kitchen and it's very small.

If you're looking for fancy dining please move on. Lucky Creation is a small, cramped restaurant in the heard of Chinatown. We were there early and had the lunch combo which was a large plate full of delicious food for only $8 or so. Their mock meat dishes were fantastic and the service was friendly and quick. Definitely recommended for those in Chinatown looking for a great veggie option!

This restaurant was recommended by several teens that grew up in Chinatown and gave us a great alleys tour- we were more than pleased. We ordered 5 dishes to share between four adults and we had two boxes of leftovers... the tofu and mushroom dishes were excellent, as was the eggplant and pretty much everything else we had. Most dishes were about $6, with specialty dishes 10-. No frills but friendly, great service. Theybhave a takeout service that was extremely busy all afternoon with mostly Chinese customers....we thought that was a good sign!

The vegetarian food here was unique and excellent! We stumbled across this place by accident when looking for a place that would work with my husband's shellfish allergy and were not disappointed! Our total bill was $17 for 2 very generous entrees and tea.

I took my mom to brunch this morning at Lucky Creation. They had a four item lunch special for eight bucks, and we ordered one of each thing (8 choices). Everything was amazing! Nothing too heavy, the sweet and sour "pork" was excellent (although didn't actually resemble pork), the spring rolls were fresh, veggies were flavorful. We loved everything! This was even better, because my mom doesn't really enjoy Chinese food and had never tried Dim Sum. Last time I had it was in Hong Kong (Maxim's City Hall, best in town!) and this was just as good. Total family joint, hole in the wall, but the bustle of kids and family members was half the fun. Would absolutely go back! Tip: Go early to avoid the rush. We went at 11:15 on Sunday morning, and the restaurant steadily filled up after our food came.

I came here because of all the good reviews and was pretty disappointed. Maybe I have chosen the wrong dishes but the eggplant with soy sauce was boring and the straw mushrooms on green chines vegetables were very boring. It was not totally bad but I expect more flavour. I would not come back.

nice Chinese food that you can rely on as vegetarian - huge portions, so just check with the staff what you are ordering - I thought I would need a rice or noodle dish with my main dish, but it turned out to be a meal on its own. You can also stick your head in the kitchen to see them all at work.

I found out about this restaurant in a section of the SF Chronicle a few months ago. Since I am vegan I am always looking for new restaurants that cater to me. My spouse and I and a nephew went recently and the experience was a pleasant surprise. First I had no idea that there was a Chinese restaurant that catered only to vegetarians and vegans. Second this small quaint "Old World" style "hole in the wall" was not a hole in the wall at all. Yes it was not fancy, but it was clean and the tables were a mix of private and community style seating. So if you are shy this may not appeal to you. My party of three were seated at a table with two very senior Chinese woman who would not acknowledge my friendly hello or smile and they by request were moved to another table of Asian only diners. I and my companions were definitely in the minority with 95% of the diners being Asian. We ordered a special of the day a mashed taro root and eggplant creation that was delicious. We also tried the mixed combination wheat gluten plate and was amazed at the ability to transform that ingredient into a variety of forms and flavors resembling bbq pork for one and the four or five other forms were distinct in flavor, appearance, taste and texture. Service was very friendly and efficient. The restroom visit was " A trip" as is common in many Asian I have experienced in San Francisco Chinatown and Oakland Chinatown too. I mean if you are squeamish about appearances or lack of modernization or are claustrophobic ... don't go!

Simple genuine Chinese veggie, creative dishes, fast service for the hungry, very reasonably priced, not the most fashionable decor but definitely local flavour

Spent a day in SF and wanted to make sure we had a good vegan meal for our son while there. Nice menu. Good service.

Lucky Creation had been recommended to us, and it was just as we had anticipated. That is, a hole in the wall and not a restaurant for the fastidious. The restaurant was filled with Chinese diners of all ages, which was agreeable to us, and the vegetarian menu offered many choices which were unfamiliar to us and that we liked, as well. An outstanding dish was the mixed vegetables in a golden nest, i.e., fried shredded potatoes. The single restroom is reached by walking through the kitchen. A unique experience, indeed!

Small unassuming shop front within Chinatown area of San Francisco. Large vegetarian menu. Very reasonably priced with large portions. Seating is limited and we shared a large table with other guests, which was fine. Many Chinese people eating here- always a good sign I think ! As usual we ordered too much but they will box it if you like to take away.
Good restaurant for both vegetarian and meat eaters
Good restaurant with fair prices. Great cuisine for vegetarians. My group had both meat eaters and non meat eaters, both left full and satisfied!
