Our friend took us to one of her favorite neighborhood restaurants, Lucky Labrador Brew Pub. We shared a delicious beet salad with fresh greens, vegetable Chili and a wonderful "Rose Garden" sandwich with feta cheese, hummus, avocado and other delicious ingredients. We decided to sit outside on the patio and it was cool, breezy and delightful despite it being a very hot day. We gave our order to a lady behind a counter and she gave us a number for our table and our food was brought out promptly and the chili was hot and delicious as was the rest of our order. We ordered a variety of beers and my pale ale was cold and refreshing and tasted great!

The size of the main room is so big that it is so convenient for a family with young one. The pizza are great, slightly undercooked but full of condiments and toppings. We like undercooked pizza so it was perfect for us. The beer is good while, I am not sure that I got all of the beers I really wanted to try in my sampler. The process of ordering food is very slow and having to pick one beer at a time for your sampler while standing at the counter seems so inefficient. The weird thing also is that the service wasn't too helpful with the beer selection. You can play darts for free which was a plus for us. We will come back because the beer is good, the pizza is good and the place is very kid-friendly.

Came here because it was advertised as dog friendly.. which it was I guess, but only on the patio. Is that the case for every brewery in Portland?! Anyway, beer was great and the rustic appeal of the place gave it character. The staff weren't that friendly and seemed irritated by our requests to try a sampler before ordering. Not very helpful but not rude. Not sure we'd come back, even in summer when the patio is bumping.

Water for the dog, beer for you. A great place to meet to start the evening off. or to walk to with the dog mid day for a drink.

I'm from out of town and met up with a friend who is local. Brew selection is great, food is fantastic!! We sat outside (dog friendly) and had a blast. No table service, but the food is worth the trip to the counter.

The staff here was very slow and only needed to make me a sandwich.I ordered the mushroom melt thing and it took forever to get to my table. The beers were ok, but nothing to write home about at all, I think they are somewhat overrated. As well the server was not too friendly and the order taker couldn't be bothered to talk to us other than saying the amount which we owed. The restroom smelled really bad and I believe there was or is a problem with the plumbing in there. I like the wooden tables and the photos of the dogs all over the walls and I like the lab paintings, but that doesn't quite overcome the service and cost here so I will most likely not be back.

Lucky Lab is a fun place to visit. it has a nice active buzz and if you are bringing a dog they have a perfect covered outdoor patio for both of you. It is a dog-centric beer bar. However, the beer is not among the best in Portland. Its good solid average Portland beer with good average pub food. Go with your dog or for the atmosphere, but if you want great beer go over to nearby Apex on 12th & Division

Beer is of variable quality but okay. The food is just deli food. We tried three different types of beer, the Irish Stout, the Black Lab Stout and the Super Dog IPA. The first and the last were good beers and the Black Lab was fair. We did not eat there. I would consider it a bar, not a brew pub.

Excellent brewery to stop for dog lovers. They have a massive heated and covered patio out back that dogs are welcomed onto. Lots of water bowls, and plenty of room for everyone. The heaters weren't on when we stopped by (mid november) but it was still comfy, and they did ask if we wanted them on. The food was good, and the beer was excellent. I'd like to spend some more time here next time we pass through Portland!

A great place to meet freinds and have a bite to eat as well as at all cool brew. I always take visiting friends here to experience Portland's microbreweries. Cold beer and good food.

I had decided to do a beer tasting around the city and stopped in at the Lucky Labrador first. LL has a huge space, long wooden tables running the length of the pub and is dog themed/friendly. Had quite the list of beers and upon recommendation, tried the Super Dog IPA. Definitely hoppy and can see why its a fan favourite. Would have liked to have seen what it was like during an evening service because I imagine it to have a great atmosphere. A great venue for live music too.

Portland Oregon has so many craft breweries that you almost trip over them as you walk along. That is not a bad thing unless your objective is to visit every one. That won't happen. Lucky Labrador Brew Pub was a meeting spot for a large group of cousins who had come to Portland for the memorial service of our last uncle standing. After the service we needed decompression time and space. This place was excellent. Only disappointment was not enough time to taste at least two more of their brews. I had their Porter which was delightfully tasty. And, they serve some pretty good sandwich plates as well. Great bread, cheese and meats. Can't say I'll ever be back to Portland but this is a good reason if I ever need one.

Good curry

Well maybe not the entire afternoon but the atmosphere is truly inviting and casual with the beer being even more inviting. My son and I traveled around to several brew pubs in Portland with my husband and this is the one I wanted to spend the afternoon in. My husband loved the IPA's and I loved the darker stouts and we all loved the food! For such beer-centric expectations my husband and I were both surprised by the wide selection of food - much of which our five year was happy to eat. This was just a calm, peaceful, puppy loving, cool escape from the 100 plus degree weather heating up Portland in August. This is a place where you will definitely just want to stay awhile...

I have been here many times, and other than the fact that you can bring your dog, I am not sure why people go here. The food is average, the brews are average. Portland has much better places. The people are nice, don't get me wrong, but go here if you have a dog.

Excellent sandwiches and beers/ales. After several trips to Portland, this has turned into my favorite lunch place, very consistent with some of the best beers I have tasted in Portland. Very good staff and atmosphere

Best corned beef sandwich and Ruben! This was a fun stop in Portland and the food was excellent. We went because we own Black Labs, but would return for sure if we were traveling in that area. it is a certainly worth the visit.

Went in on a Friday night at 9 o'clock and only a hand full of people were here. Guy behind the bar didn't seemlike he wanted to be there at all. Guess I understand with not many here to tip him.

We always have their pizza called 'The Mutt' - it is the best we've had! You won't always find the same beer though, as it is seasonal. We like their Blue Dog, but last time they didn't have it. It encouraged us to try something else :) The guy gave us small samples of most of their selection which was very nice! We went with their 'Golfer' this time. Oh, and their dog biscuits are loved by our puppies!

On a recent trip to Portland we had no plans of stopping here, but happened to drive by and decided to check it out. They have a huge outdoor seating area that looks like it would be a good time in warmer weather. The bartender was great, we tried all of the beers and of all the places we visited in Portland she was the first to offer the local map with all of the brew pubs and breweries on it; it was a big help!

I just adore the lucky lab brewpub! I've been here countless times and always have fun. they have a good beer selection, they now serve bento, and they have a great selection of sandwiches with fresh ingredients (no deep fryer here, FYI). while they don't have table service, it's still one of my favorite places to grab a bite. The best part? there is a very large patio area in the back with more than a dozen picnic tables where dogs are more than welcome to hang out with their people! there are even often fun events scheduled having to do with canine companions. if you are a local dog person, you probably already know about this place, but if you haven't been or are visiting, make it a stop!

So fun!

Walked a mile+ from downtown, but it’s worth the walk. Great beer variety, free tasters, & good prices. Had the Alt & the Stout, both good. The beet salad as a side was excellent! I’ll definitely be back. The only surprise was the Italian grinder was served cold. Still very good, but I’ll ask for it to be heated next time. But there will be a next time. Nice to get out of the “busyness” of downtown.

We stopped in for lunch with family. The place has the feel of a tavern hall - you order your food and drinks at the bar and then find a seat. The sandwiches we ordered we delicious. I would recommend the classic ruben, the italian, the gobbler and the three cheese melt. The beer was good as well. Note - this isn't a classic pub - it is a tavern hall so don't expect fancy.

Stopped in for a pint and a quick bite after visiting OMSI in downtown Portland. The place strives to be a typical British-style pub where you order at the bar (food and drink at separate locations, by the way), then get a table. The beers are crafted on-site and the pub features a fairly good selection. The porter we had was pleasant enough that we'd be tempted to try others...IF the place had ANY atmosphere. It doesn't. The walls are covered with snapshots of dogs which, even though I'm a dog lover, I found annoying in the extreme. It struck me as a hang-out for (and decorated by) college kids, The crowd was generally older than college-age, but not necessarily more mature. The pub grub was awful -- in fact, barely edible. The chicken on my skewer was cooked to death, the "garden salad" another in our party ordered was as much onion as it was lettuce, and the other items were equally abysmal. It might be a fine brew pub, but stick to the beer.

Good, but not great, atmosphere. In fairness, I was there on a Sunday afternoon. Located on the sleepy side of Hawethorne Blvd. The beer (obviously the most important part) was great and leads to an overall thumbs up!

A relaxed pub with a distinct culture and fun vibe. Good outdoor seating, parking available, pets welcome, food delicious and beer selection fantastic. Buy a tshirt and then send in pics of you wearing it around the world - it's a tradition!

Great pizza, big selection of brews, and wine. Lots of other menu items too. They were really friendly and the space was clean and open. A great place to hang out.

Smells of the makings of beer

Outside patio is covered, which is nice. You must go inside to order and to use the bathroom. Kicker is, dogs are not allowed inside so if you go alone don't plan on eating, drinking or using the washroom unless you feel comfortable letting a stranger watch your dog.

Went there for dinner with three friends after a movie. When we ordered they said the kitchen was back up and it would be about 40 minutes for our sandwiches. An hour and a half later our sandwiches arrived. Yes my Rueben was great but the wait was ridiculous. I won’t go back any time soo

I came here for lunch and a beer flight a while back. I was the first customer in the door and the place was all but deserted. There was on guy walking around, but he looked to be performing maintenance. Nobody ever greeted me either, so I wasn't sure if there were servers or if I had to go to the bar. Turns out that one has to order at the bar. I told the bartender I wanted a flight and he seemed to be very apathetic about my wishes. He was not remotely helpful in selecting beer for said flight either. Still, I figured it out and I placed a sandwich order at the same time. Beer was generally pretty good with the Konig Kolsch, Doppelganger (doppel bock), and Hellraiser ESB (English-style bitter) all being very drinkable. Sandwich was just boring, deli-style with salty lunch meat from a package was served with potato chips from a bag. Like many other patrons, my experience was not particularly good and I will not be back. There's just too much great beer and food in town to be treated so poorly.

We stopped here twice during out 5 days in Portland, the first time mostly to sample the beers and because they have an outside area that allowed dogs. The beer was great and the food on both occasions was pretty good too. There is a very large covered outdoor area where you can relax with your pet. There is also an even bigger interior space in case you do not want to be around dogs, there were not many dogs there, on either of our visits. There is a good size bar inside and you can even but Lucky Lab T shirts ( we did ). Great casual atmosphere, very accommodating bar and wait staff.

Stopped for lunch - cavernous room with outside dining as well. Very casual - order at the beer bar. We split a sizable Reuben's which was perfect - but we could have used an extra basket since we'd ordered a split. The beer was excellent.

What would be a great brewery in most cities is unfortunately only average and somewhat forgettable in Portland. The extreme dog friendliness of it Touched home with this dog lover, but most of the patrons were actually not super friendly and didn't have great dog manners. The ambiance is kind of roadside bar in the grit factor and like some of the other reviewers, something about the one beer was off like a bad line or old keg. The summer ale was excellent though. As a non IPA lover, the menu was fairly restricted, like most breweries in Portland it seems, but the ones with sub 50 IBU were also quite good. I'd come back for a dog friendly place to grab drinks, but probably not for the beer alone.

We were in town on a very rainy day. Our soup and sandwich was the perfect end to a hard working day. Delicious food and a great atmosphere. Loved the picnic table style dining with board games!

Delicious choice of soup of the day with salad or a delicious slice of pizza. Popular place with good beer.

As a dog lover, how can I not stop at the Lucky Lab when I'm in the neighborhood. My wife and I enjoy taking friends on Distillery Row tours and we usually begin or end with this Pub. Sometimes, we just stop when we are in town with our pooch so we can enjoy some good microbrews and have our dog out of the car while we eat. The food is not just standard pub food, there are some nice variations. The beer is always fresh and varied. A good stop on any Portland East-side trip.

This was my fave of 5 brew pubs I tried recently in Portland. The place has a great relaxed atmosphere similar to German brew halls with long tables. I was very pleased with the Hellraiser ESB. There is a darts area in the front, patio in the back, and great music playing. I did not eat, but many people seemed to be happily munching away. The servers at the taps were very helpful, letting you taste a few before you made your choice. There weren't any descriptive menus, but the personal touch was better.

Most people don't get it. If you want a fancy meal, go to a restaurant. The Lab is a a casual brew pub where the beer is great, the food is a great value, and the vibe is what a pub should be. Twenty ounce beers for $5.50 is a crazy good deal and they always have several IPA's to choose from depending on your specific style of IPA. This is an iconic Portland experience unlike so many other generic restaurant/pubs.

Our family of 4 is up visiting my brothers. One came with us for the day and we decided to try some local brew along with lunch. We had a great lunch with our oldest kidlet having grilled cheese and home made root beer which she loved! Our very picky (very very) had hot chocolate and chips (#worstparentsever #notabattketofightinpublic) but the salsa for his chips was home made and delightful! My brother and I both opted for pulled pork which was great and my handsome husband had a roast beef which was delish! They did have vegetarian dishes also... Beer was great too! Hubby had a brown ale which was very good I had a lighter beer and found it refreshing. But I forgot my expensive glasses. Not so bright on my part. But one of the guys actually ran them across the street to me- excellent service! I am so very grateful I can not read without them!

We meet here once or twice a month with some friends of ours. We almost always eat, ALWAYS get some cider. The food menu is pretty lean, love the vegetarian nightmare sandwich, the bento is VERY peanut-y tasting, too much for me. My boyfriend, got the Reuben once, he was satisfied. The cider is amazing, except the ginger YUCK, lol. The staff is always nice, but they're definitely not a "bubbley" group, very much what I would call Portlanders.

Stopped by the north location, interesting building. A quiet night, but a comfortable atmosphere. A couple of dark beers that were tasty.

Horrible sandwich, only 2 very thin slices of cheap bacon. The mayo had a fishy aftertaste,, I wonder how long it had been sitting at room temp, everything looked dirty. The beer was not enjoyable because it was not cold enough. If you could get a smile out of the waitress it would be a miracle. Didn't see any comfortable seating, just long picnic benches. I like a table with decent chairs that have backs on them. Clientele rather seedy looking in seedy part of town.

I favor the Pearl district location, but I have spent some time here when our mountain climbing group got together to plan. Lucky lab pubs are Portland. This is what I think of when I think of the Portland brew pub scene. The beer is good and they often have guest brews on tap. They note the alcohol level and other information next to each choice. As far as food, pizza, the grinder sandwich and the BLT sandwich are good choices. I think this is better than average pub fare as my wife will even return visit these locations. Lucky Lab is great for groups.

The beer garden outside is covered and welcoming to dogs and people alike. When we arrived there were 9 other dogs, every one paid attention to themselves (except ours - hint: Jack Russell). Because the others were so well behaved, ours finally figured out that you sit quietly and enjoy the atmosphere. The beer is very good, as is the cider. The root beer is self brewed, too. Great variety of sandwiches.

I'm so glad I ate here! I ordered the Rose Garden Veggie Sandwich & Lucky Lab rootbeer. The sandwich was heavenly! The rootbeer was a tad sweet for my liking, but the flavor was good. I loved the atmosphere. The menu boards were drawn nicely. I enjoyed the photos of labradors. The sky lights let in a lot of light (even though it was cloudy outside). The only negative was that it was a bit chilly inside. Bought a t-shirt.

The place is really spacious and dog friendly which is always great. I didn't try the food but the beer was all right. It's not the kind of place I'd return to since it wasn't very memorable.

Stopped here for a few brews one afternoon. I had several different of their beers and all were very tasty. I didn't eat but some of the folks around me had some tasty looking dishes. It's sort of a self service type of operation.

My nephew arranged a visit for my large family when I was visiting in Oregon. They all brought their dogs and kids, and arrived at various times, about 25 of us, and we gathered outside around two long tables on this warm night and walked around and greeted each other as pitchers of beer and appetizers and finally many large pizzas were served. There are tables inside the warehouse (it sometimes rains in Oregon), with the brewery, and racks where you can stand and lock your bicycle. The brew cycle arrived and gathered passengers and departed. 12 people face each other across a table, drinking beer as they cycle through the streets of Portland. A lively, kid and dog friendly place.

I went with my partner last Saturday afternoon and the place had a few dozen people in it. The atmosphere was relaxed and many people were playing games, working on personal projects, or otherwise enjoying themselves. The bar staff was far friendly than I can really explain. They made a few non-offensive jokes about the weather and double-checked we were getting the beers we truly wanted. We were even thanked for coming in, as they had never seen us before. There is a slight musty smell, but it could be an old building on a hot day, beer brewing, or the fact dog owners do frequent the place and bring their dogs. Back to the beers - I had a nitro irish stout. Thank you for the nitro. I was thrilled to have it. It was served nice and cold. Despite my obvious bias for this drink, it was a good stout (3 out of 5), not outstanding (5 out of 5), but questionably very good (4 out of 5). My partner had the cask aged beer available. I am blanking on what it was specifically. I can say, it was complex on the nose and palate, with strong notes of apple pie and summer blackberries. Despite the large bubble size of the CO2, the head lasted longer than my nitro stout. It was very good.

Fun sign underneath Lucky Lab's logo gear for sale. Very popular neighborhood brew, pizza and sandwiches inside a large former warehouse. Or better yet, eat outside around the many picnic table. Enjoy the brew-cycle pub crawl folks who peddle in periodically! Fun. Wuf. Wuf.

Great brew pub and great beer. We had a nice meal there while exploring the brewpubs in the Portland area, If you are a Lab lover like we are there are nice gifts to pick up as souvenirs and the beer is great! Nice large tables as will are nooks to read - even games to pick up an play.

The beer is better than the food. Of the food, the pizza is probably the best. Service is generally good, but remember this is a pub. not my favorite in town but I keep going back.

Nice spot to spend an afternoon sampling beers. Kinda a good setup for meeting others. Rustic atmosphere with good beers.

Great Pizza, Great Beer and your best friend welcome. Does it get any better than that? Love the Greek Pizza and my dog Xiao Gao does too.

They didn't have many vegan/vegeterian choices, but the veggie sandwich w/ cream cheese was okay. Fun that puppies get to be there though!

This is the second location of theirs I have been too. I have had my fair share of beer and this is one of my favorite breweries. Beer is an above average quality, love their IPA's! Food is just deli sand which food with basically a side of ruffles nothing impressive, just descent bar food. Best part of the whole place is there are two outdoor seating areas looks like one side is for patrons with their dogs which is awesome! Good atmosphere and beer, food ehh.. Go check it out though!

We've been planning on checking out Lucky Lab since we moved to the PNW, and finally had a chance last weekend. I was disappointed. Service was slow, the staff was surly, and most importantly, the entire facility did not seem like it was kept very clean at all. Surfaces are grimy and clearly not wiped down very often. The outside seating area is open to dogs, which is great, but some of these dogs are not potty-trained, and there is a pervasive smell of dog pee. Owners should clean up after their dogs, yes, but the concrete should also be rinsed by on occasion. It didn't smell like this has happened for quite some time, and there was a lot of old food and debris under the tables. The sink in the men's room was broken, so my husband could not wash his hands. I very much hope that there is a working sink in the kitchen! Both of our beers tasted like the lines weren't particularly clean -- either that or there is a really "special" aftertaste to all Lucky Lab beer. In short, I don't think I'll be coming here again.

No dogs allowed? Mediocre beer, toilets smelt bad. Nae impressed. Didn’t try food. Was busy, some kind of card night…..

Had lunch here with my daughter who works nearby. Arrived on a cold, rainy day. Was kinda cold inside. Could have been warmer. Had some beer and sandwiches. Tuna salad sandwich, roast beef, pastrami, bowl of chili, and some brewed beer. Beer was pretty good,,and sandwiches were pretty good as well. But, I could have done without the chips. Just bag chips,,not so tasty. Decent prices.

fun portland pub. small menu (good sandwiches) and good beer. but they have a fun outdoor space- great place to hang out with friends.

Nice pub, with great outdoor seating very accommodating for dogs with water bowls and leash hooks. Had a saison and tuna melt, both delicious.

It's a nice large interior space and is a welcome change from some small, crowded pubs. The beer was quite average. Watery and maybe some carbonation issues plagued both of the red ales and one of the brown ales that I ordered. Yikes. Service was fairly average for food, but I don't think I'll stop by this summer to sit on the patio with the dog.

The pizza is really good, nice selection of beer and wine. Also they have very good salads! Nice place to take your dog if it's not raining. It would be nice if they added a few smaller tables for two or four.

What a great brewery for dog lovers. My two favorite things... dogs and beer. This place loves dogs and so do the guest. We got to love on some dogs and drink some great beer. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Friday afternoon lunch with family & our dog. Let’s go to the Lucky Lab. We visited the Hawthorne location. There is ample free parking in the back. We sat in the sheltered heated picnic bench area in back. The menu is short & clever. Sandwiches, salads, or their take on bento. Vegetarian and meet lovers both find food to eat here. Couldn’t try the brew, was driving. The staff are friendly and helpful. We’ll return.

We visited this place as part of a beer bike tour. Tried a number of brew samplers, and loved it. A great, relaxed atmosphere too, would definitely recommend to friends who want a low-key watering hole.

Never really cared for the grub here

As another reviewer mentioned, with all the cement and hard surfaces, this place is noisy! Was there on a Thursday night from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and it was already busy. And I couldn't hear very well the person even next to me. Didn't eat their food, but had one of the two hard ciders. The service is kind of gruff, which didn't really bother me. (And that kind of thing usually would.) Without me asking, he let me try two ciders to see which one I liked. (The blood orange one was superior.) People play elaborate board games at tables. There was someone dressed up in a costume, but it kind of look like those were his regular clothes. It was that kind of place.

Good food, decent prices. Nice to be able to sit outside with your dog. They even have water bowls for your pets.

Went out with a co-worker who lives in Portland based on his recommendation, basically it is a beer and pizza joint. Beer selection was ok and pizza was decent. Not really the Portland experience I was expecting. I am sure there are better options, keep looking!

We did not eat here, but the menu was a bit limited. We had several brews. Liked the Fuzz Porter, which was better than the Black Lab Stout (a bit too hoppy for my taste). The ambiance is quite eclectic and laid back. Lots of kids on the day we were there.

Hawthorne location. Too hot (for me) to be outside. We were in a large room reserved for our group. Once it was full, you couldn't hear unless you were standing or sitting next to the person. Beer is OK. Portland has much to choose from, and I would say from my tasting, the beer seems to take the middle road. The food was OK. Potato chips seemed to come from a Lay's bag of same.

Definitely should be on your list of breweries to visit while in Portland. Good food - had one of their unique sandwiches - very good. The beer is great and the servers are happy to provide free small tastes. Also a great atmosphere.

This is a wide open bingo hall with picnic tables that affords larger groups the opportunity to play a board game or three. Food offerings on the whole were above average with an excellent, large pizzas, maybe 16 to 18 inches. Beer selection varies and I'm told it will change with the season

While staying at the RIverPlace Hotel, our valet recommended Lucky Lab, but it was already on our radar because we were traveling with our Lab! What began as a novelty visit turned out to be a long stay with good grub at a great pub. Coming from Chico, home to SIerra Nevada beer we like our craft brews and this place had a lot of those to offer! Unlike Sierra Nevada it is not a polished eating spot, rather a rustic (think college) but fun gathering place! The bartenders are knowledgable and will respect your palet when you ask for their ideas on your beer! Try the sampler and get a taste of everything! We sat outside with our dog and there was a friendly buzz there as well! The food was pub food but good! They added their own spin to everything. That flair sat their food above the average! Give this place a shot! Your taste buds will thank you!

I came here on a brew pub tour, and I am so happy I did! I never would have found this place, which is just a few blocks away from the "Max" train line. This was my favorite brew pub of all the places I toured in Portland. It is a local Brew Pub and does not bottle its beer. You can come here and get pints or tasting samplers, as well as fill growlers. The atmosphere was so relaxing and fun. It does not have a bar feel to it at all. The food they served was delicious and very cheap. The beer was very reasonably priced as well- I think it was about $3.50 for a pint! Plus, they had a very wide selection of their own beers on tap. If I lived near here, I think I'd frequent this place often. Take the time to walk the few blocks to this charming place... you will enjoy it!

A great brewery with a relaxed atmosphere, outdoor seating, and good beer; furthermore, the place is pet-friendly and has water bowls for your best friend. Although I have not tasted the food and cannot comment on it, the beer is delicious. Five "stars" for being pet-friendly, casual and unpretentious, green-thinking and serving fantastic craft brews.

We visited this brewery on Sunday 3/2/14 and loved the beer but disappointing customer service by one of the bartenders. We had a fairly large group and were ordering at the bar, first time there, so looking intently on which beer to order and rather than being helpful and telling us about their beer the bartender just stared at us and looked very irritated that we couldn't decide. There was another bartender next to him that seemed very friendly and looked like he wanted to take over and help us but unfortunately didn't. Will we go back yes, will we let this guy wait on us again no, I would ask for someone else to help me.

Went to Lucky Labrador with a business group. The odor indoors is close to offensive. There is noticeable grime throughout. We chose to sit outside which was fine (although on this evening a bit cool). The staff was busy but not sure doing what since the place was not very busy. We had to almost demand attention to order. The sandwhich's were good but not great while the soup was terrible. We did not even eat the pea soup (one of my favorites). Would not go back.

Being dog people, we loved this place. It was animal friendly (outside only due to heath code restrictions) . We saw many a person drop in for a brew with their pup. The beers were good. I'd recommend the flights as you get good amount (vs shot glass style of many other places). We were told they had excellent pizza, but we were not hungry at the time.

This was one of the first breweries we saw on the West Coast, and we loved it. The flight included lots of great beers, all with unique character. We especially enjoyed that you can bring your pups with you to enjoy the brewery.

Decent enough pub but could be better. I found the staff to be very hipster and generally quite pretentious and the bar itself was quite empty and lacked any real atmosphere. I was quite impressed with the cask ale option which is a rare treat in America.

We tried the variety beer tray at this pub. The wine aged beers were excellent. We also enjoyed the IPAs

We are really glad that we had this on our list of pubs to visit. The outside does not reflect what awaits you. Huge inside, very clean, helpful staff, reasonable prices and it goes on from there. Go out back and enjoy the patio and visit the hops they have growing onsite. Great place for real beer lovers! They brew onsite at this location!

Average food. Better beer.

The Lucky Lab people have created a place where dogs can go while their people enjoy a sense of community. The sandwiches are great and you can enjoy a brew, coke or glass of wine. I had a great tuna melt. The people are friendly and there is some parking in front. It's a funky place, but definitely a place to take your dog. See my dog, Cinnamon's, review: http://coonhoundtales.blogspot.com/2013/05/portlands-lucky-lab-brewpub-is.html

We went here for lunch. The sandwiches are decent. They have 18 beers to try. If you ride a bike there you can just ride inside to park it.

I was in Portland for one night only just across the river and I saw this place on trip advisor as being near to me, so I went in with my friend. We totally loved it for 2 reasons: 1. She loves dogs and outside were a few dogs with their owners that she got to hi to. 2. I love beer sample paddles and they have them! I tried a bunch of beers and really liked them, nice flavours that would go down well with some food (which I didnt have time for :( ) Sadly not much else to say, I went there day time on a thursday and it was quite slow but we e joyed the chill time and liked the drinks that they had, well worth popping your head in and hopefully giving a more substantial review than myself!

Our group met for a lunch discussion. We didn't worry about feeling rushed, because the service here is notoriously slow. I had a BLT which was delicious and had I added guacamole which made it even better. Lucky Lab is typical average pub food but served very slow otherwise no complaints.

Food was quite good, beer good too! We sat outside with our dogs on picnic tables. Lots of people there and service was pretty slow. I would go again, but not high on the list.

I came here 2 years ago and was impressed with this pub, but this time, the beer was good, but the staff serving was un-helpful and not very pleasant - and it was not a case of being busy. When asked questions about their beers, the staff behind the counter either did not know about nor did not want to explain the different brews. I liked the ESB a lot, and a friend who does not drink much found it tasty. The food is not what you come here for - and maybe they will return to friendlier staff to fit the relaxed atmosphere.

I did not eat at this location but did have beer. I was not impressed with the beer I tried. The atmosphere was dark and spacious. There were tables that were left with beer glasses and food for the whole hour we were there. I would say spend your time at other breweries before going here.

I came up from Salem to visit a friend in Portland. We stopped into Lucky Labrador for a flight. Beer was very good. A little disappointed that there was no menu giving descriptions of the beers. Service was slow and presented with a lack of enthusiasm. However, the ambiance made up for it. Board games, bristle board darts (regulation) and a chill vibe made it an enjoyable experience.

This place is about great brews. Lots of varieties (and a few wines). Nothing fancy as far as ambiance, but... they know how to serve a proper pour: Careful carrying it to your table, because they are filled to the rim!

Fantastic selection of beers, good wines, and WOW! the grilled cheese and tomato with pesto sandwich was fabulous! I asked them to add the pesto (saw it elsewhere on the menu) and they happily complied. Good food, good service, lovely setting outdoors with or without your pooch, a great place to gather with friends!

My husband and I stopped here on our beer biking tour and then came back another day as well. The atmosphere could not be beaten, since it was a rainy day we grabbed some books at Powell's and brought them here for good beer and reading. The food was subpar, but it wasn't why we were there anyways!

Sat and read the paper while drinking beer one afternoon. It was a large beer hall type of atmosphere. It looked like it could be a fun place in the evening. It wasn't busy when I was there. Beer was OK....nothing outstanding though.

This Brew Pub though not the best should be on any tour in Portland. Located close in the SE across the Willamette River. Standard fare of pizza, sandwiches and sladas. Spacious and lively.

Went to the Lucky Labroador Beer Hall to meet up with my Portland-based niece, her husband, and three kids. We met at noon and the large beer hall had only one or two other customers. We had our pick of the long beer hall tables and ordered from the bar counter. Many beer choices. Mine was a wheat-based beer and excellent. Based on prior reviews on this web site, I avoided the pizza and ordered a Reuben for myself and a BLT for my wife. Both were good. Not exceptional, but good. Potato chips were par. Taco chips were better. I had a taste of my other guests' pizza and said a silent "thank you" to the review that warned me away from that choice. To me, it was doughey and undercooked. The cheese was OK and plentiful, but the sauce was more sweet than I would have preferred. As our lunch proceeded, other families with kids arrived. This seemed to be the place for young families to come with kids, but I could not (and cannot) figure out why. The place makes zero accommodations for kids. No toys. No play areas. Not even crayons and paper. The service was competent and anything but fawning. The atmosphere seemed perfect for young people seeking a beer and sandwiches experience and I would recommend it for that, but if you want a good lunch and some other type of experience, make another choice. Great for bikers (the non-motorized type), with an indoor bike rack. Where do you see those? Outdoor seating on a warm summer day would be nice.

being gluten free and expecting to eat good food - i am not sure why I keep coming back to this place. The gluten free options are limited and not so great. Sandwiches are really their specialty and the gluten free bread they use is not tasty. The table are wobbly and the patio gets no sun - bummer
Mediocre beer, terrible service
The brew hall was spacious and the outside patio area had interesting decor. However, the service was not only ridiculously slow, there seemed to be no method of how to provide service in an orderly fashion. While my husband waited at the bar with his wallet out, obviously wanting to close our tab, the bartender helped the person standing behind us! To add insult to injury, there were several other workers behind the bar organizing glasses and gossiping, but no one offered to help us. The beer had almost no complexity of flavor.
