Delicious Noodles and Potstickers

By Joseph F |

Wow, what a great place! We had the cucumbers with garlic, the pork potstickers and beef soup with hand pulled noodles. All were terrific. The ambiance is casual and comfortable no frills, but the service was great. You can watch them making the delicious noodles. We loved the food, and can’t wait to come back!

Bitter sweet experience

By Annmarie |

Went for lunch around 2pm on Saturday. Went a little later due to it being a weekend. The older of the two hostess’s had no idea what she was doing. We were a party of seven and understood in a smaller establishment it would be a while. But two parties roughly the same were seated before us and we had two smaller children. It was over an hour before we were seated. Our order was taken ( we were ready immediately after such a long wait) quickly. Then the wait again. We ordered appetizers and they took 45 almost an hour and then the food came out almost immediately after one by one. Thus the first person to get their food was done about the time the last one got theirs. If we had waited for everyone to have theirs everything would have been cold. Quality, potstickers were quite good, very flavorful. Large portion. All our other entrees were very good, large portions. Once food was brought we never saw waitress again. Drinks never filled. The main reason for the two stars, if I had used restroom prior to ordering I would have left. Filthy does not cover it. The toilet, sink, floor, etc. health department needs to do a check. Is there a reason to believe kitchen is any cleaner? Good food, bad service, questionable cleanliness!

Bday girl

ot shrimp lomein n I liked it. Just wishing the shrimp was bigger but I like the chewy noodle consistency. It wasn't too oily either. My son got the beef noodle n the beef looked funky cut but he enjoyed it. The steamed dumplings though came in 18? It was alot and wasn't tiny. Really liked how much they gave. Service was nice. Courteous there. Enjoyed the experience and glad we tried it. We had so much we took home some more. Always a good sign. Price wasn't bad either. Good little spot. Bday girl happy that's all that matters

Very authentic; a real gem...

By doctoryes |

Having eaten in China, and with a family member who used to live there, I can say this is very authentic northern Chinese food. A great dumpling and noodle restaurant and one of the few in San Antonio that serves real "hot pot". (They don't serve it all the time -- I think it's not on the menu during the summer; you might check in advance to be sure they have it if that's what you're after.) They hand-pull their noodles right there in the restaurant; this is special, something you don't often find. This is not your usual local Chinese food; a different general taste and variety. If you like Chinese food I'd recommend that you try it -- very simple and inexpensive -- but good quality and different.

Great handmade noodles and dumplings at an excellent price

By Brendan T |

Great handmade noodles and dumplings at a cost that made me feel like I was eating at a restaurant in 2004. The place isn't the fanciest, but it is clean, and the service is quick and efficient. The soup and the dumplings were excellent, and the braised brisket fried rice was equally delicious.

Don’t waste your time

The food was ok . The service was terrible!! Walked in & was seated . Ordered a drink . The waitress disappeared for awhile when she came back I expressed to her that I was ready to order . She pointed @ another waiter who was holding some device in his hand speaking to the table next to us . When he was done with that table he came to ours . My friend & I gave him our order . Our food arrived & than both waiters disappeared . They were gone for 15 minutes . I saw the woman & stopped her as she was walking by . I stopped her & asked for a refill . She looked annoyed . She brought out my refill & disappeared again . When she finally appeared I asked for separate checks . She went & printed out 2 different tables checks & not ours !! I will not be coming back here

Giant Portions, Low Prices!

By PATTAYJAY |

Wow is this place cheap. You can easily split an order of the dumplings along with one other main dish with someone and still have leftovers. The portions are huge for the price you pay! This is some of the best Chinese food I had. My friend and I split an order of the pork dumplings, hand pulled noodles with beef, and the twice cooked pork belly. The only thing I'm sorry about is that I couldn't stuff my face with more food, I was full after just a few giant bites.

Outstanding food

Unassuming atmosphere, clean and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed pork and ginger steamed dumplings, braised beef noodle soup and beef noodles soup. Tremendously generous portions. We will return soon, and often.

I do not recommend this place

By Mariah S |

I do not recommend this place if you are looking for the type of dishes inexperienced Anglos might prefer. I am one of those people, so I ordered shrimp fried rice, which seemed okay, although the shrimp were small salad shrimp and had not been fried with the rice. Tummy ache afterward. My boyfriend had a pork noodle bowl and he said it was good. The man in kitchen behind the glass “throwing” and twisting noodle dough was interesting for a little while.

Great little local noodle shop

Seated quickly, servers were friendly, and the food was out from the kitchen in a reasonable time. This is a traditional noodle house that's not fancy but focuses on serving great handmade noodle dishes. We will be back.

Great food, great prices

By WJC50 |

The restaurant is in a strip center, average in appearance inside and out. However, if you enjoy fresh food, huge portions, and good service this is a place you should try. Their noodle bowls are delicious and the homemade noodles are amazing, but they have many other choices including dumplings, rice dishes, cold, hot, and spicy dishes. I debated between a 4 and 5-star review as it is a simple, neighborhood restaurant. However, the fresh, homemade food is delicious so, I decided to rate the food over the ambiance.

Great jiaozi (steamed dumplings)

By D Mcgee R |

I haven’t tasted steamed dumplings like this since I lived in Beijing. You have to request the vinegar for dipping. Enjoy

Not worth time or calories!

Very disappointed! Ate here once before and remembered food was good. Took grandchildren there last night! Service friendly but very very slow. Wouldn’t have ordered if I had used bathroom first!!!!! Absolutely filthy! What does kitchen look like? Turned my stomach. Took over 30 minutes for entrees and got appetizers at same time. Meals came out with a good 10 minutes between individual meals. The stir fried noodles with pork was so salty I couldn’t eat. Stir fried shrimp had no flavor. Soup was ok. A chicken noodle dish was cold. Waited forever for bill, should have just left. Won’t return!

Delishhhhhhh

Food was amazing and watched them make the noodles on the spot. Wish I had tried the dumplings but the serving was ginormous with very reasonable prices.

Cooked to order

By evelyn s |

This place serves everything fresh. Their noodles are hand made and cooked as you order. For this reason you can not be in a rush. This is not a ramen place where you can order a bowl of noodles where premade noodles are dunked in a prepared broth of some kind. You can see the noodles stretched and cut from the open kitchen. The soups are delicious and so are the dumplings. The noodles are great. Remember there is one cook in the kitchen preparing all the orders. She may have an assistant stretching the noodles but she does all the cooking.

Freshly made noodles to fulfill your appetite

By David W |

This Chinese noodle restaurant is a great place to enjoy a bowel of noodles. Your noodles come in 1 of 3 different sizes to choose from and you can watch it being made through the large glass window in the rear. The restaurant is clean on the inside and there are booth and table seats.

OK Noodle

By Chuck H |

I tried this place after seeing it listed on Yelp. It is just a few months old. The menu was minimal for those who want vegan or vegetarian options. I had the Mapo Tofu and it was OK, maybe too salty. It was not spicy despite the server saying it would be and the pepper on the menu. The establishment is in a "strip mall" sort of location with a Marshall's and some other food places. It was clean and neat, but not the best atmosphere -- seemed much more like fast food than I wanted. All of the staff I interacted with had trouble understanding me and I had a bit of trouble understanding them. I'm in town on business, so probably won't need to go back, but I doubt I would if I had the time.

good Chinese comfort food

By super-grobi |

This is neither a fancy nor a romantic place, so if you seek this for a date then this is not where to go. They offer good Chinese comfort food that is built around their hand-pulled noodles. You can choose the size of noodles for each dish yourself and yes, the textures of the noodles do differ with their width and do add variety to the dishes. Price is on the cheaper side and portions are very generous. I liked the Chinese hamburger, totally reminded me of street food in China (although of course it is not super authentic!). As another appetizer, we had the fried dumplings, pretty tasty but I would have loved them steamed. My beef noodles were very good as well although in hindsight I wish I hadn't ordered all dishes with medium wide noodles to add some variety. I also asked for a small bowl with just broth and noodles for my toddler and they happily brought it.
