Enjoyed a casual dining experience. The restaurant serves fried chicken dinners, beer and salads. The service was excellent. If you don't like fried food this might not be the place.

Nine of for dinner, so thought we would try it. Wife had called to make reservations, lady took them, but when we got there we were told they didn't take reservations. Good drinks, local beer, watermelon margaritas. And mojitos...all very good. We ordered appetizers: deviled eggs, jalapeño corn bread and broiled oysters...again good and very spicy. We then ordered a bucket of chicken, a dozen raw oysters and some sides...again good but not the best I've ever had. Relaxed atmosphere and a super waitress.

Only had deviled eggs because I was not hungry but the eggs were good; view fantastic. A little warm in the sun, so we had to move.

Came for lunch and had a hard time choosing. Salad was presented beautifully and is fresh. Needed a bit more dressing but otherwise good.

So we had a group of 5 and ordered so many different things off the menu, all of them which were amazing. Must get a piece of iced tea pie, their happy hour prices are also fairly reasonable. The fried chicken is tasty and crispy and very very good.

If we are anywhere NEAR Austin while traveling, Lucy's is a mandatory stop. Very pleasant outdoor dining if you don't mind a few birds walking around on the ground. Fried chicken is awesome, of course. All of the sides are fabulous, and even things like the potato salad are unlike any you've had elsewhere. The sweet tea is the best. Ask the waitress for a dessert recommendation. The banana pudding I had wasn't too special, but my wife loved the Elvis pie. If there are a group of you, get a big basket of chicken and a wide variety of sides. Parking used to be tight but there is an abandoned store nearby that they apparently have a deal with to let you park there.

Excellent fried chicken and some of the friendliest people on staff I've ever encountered I'm a professional chef and I was given an industry discount I didn't ask they offered. Really great experience

We found this place word of mouth and was a hit for the entire family. Pretty cool atmosphere and décor. And was reasonably priced.

My Son and I wanted to try something different since we hardly have time to go out for lunch together because of his schedule. We decided on Lucy's F/C. It turned out to be pretty good.

Although we like the food, the service is repeatedly unacceptable. We have been three times. The first time they forgot to serve two items we ordered. The second time they forgot to deliver entrees for half the party of four. The manager saved the day by comping the oysters which she was finally able to deliver. Tonight we walked out after the waiter never returned to take our order, although we could see him laughing and joking with other servers standing around and there was only one other table in our area that was sat. The place was empty and we could not get a waiter. We are giving up on this restaurant.

My husband had heard about this place featured on one of the shows on the Travel Channel. It is worth the trip! We had asked an Austinite if he had heard of Lucy's. He said yes but the best of the (2) locations is is this one on College Avenue and Congress, only a few minutes from the downtown area and past the funky places on Congress. The parking lot, in front of the restaurant, is small. There is parking on the street; however, it is limited. This location has a full bar and a few barstools. The music is a little loud for my taste and I can imagine this place gets crazy, especially on the weekends. Check online for their daily drink specials. We ordered a craft or homemade root beer and a lemonade. It is a very eclectic kind of place, with seating outdoors and indoors. There is a check-in podium for those times that you have to wait for a table. We were lucky. No line! The first thing we ordered was the fried gizzards, which were delicious! They were seasoned perfectly and were served with a chipotle dipping sauce. These were my husband's favorite. My husband and I split the basket of chicken, which comes with four pieces, perfect for sharing. This was very good and comes only with a spear of kosher dill pickle and a half of a pickled jalapeno. Everything is a la carte. We ordered two sides, fried okra and collard greens. The okra was good but the collards were a little on the sweet side; although they were made with onions, bacon and a vinegar of some sort. For dessert, we ordered and split the key lime pie. They have cute names for their dessert selections. The pie was just OK; not great. I like more tartness in this pie. The whipped cream, although fresh-made could have used a little more sweetness. The young lady who was our waitress was courteous, helpful and came back to check on us periodically. For the two of us, lunch cost $38 and some change.

We were here for a SXSW event just before dinner time and decided to try a bucket of bird. Was very good, better than expected given how massively crowded the place was. We sidled up to an outside bar and the bartender created some eating by space for us. Yum! Really good chicken. Nice crunch, not too greasy and nice seasoning in the batter. Would definitely recommend it.

I went to Lucy's with our extended family-84 yrs old down to 5 yr-old. Sitting outside with the fantastic view of Lake Travis at sunset is heaven! The 5-yr old loved the playground, but someone in the group has to be away from the table to surpervise because you couldn't have a table with a view of the lake AND a view of the playground. Since the restaurant specializes in fried chicken, I had high expectations--like what my grandmother made. In fact, it was not very crunchy nor very flavorful. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 5. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes. The batter was doughy and they were absolutely without any flavor at all and I sent them back. No one at the table was impressed with the food and we don't intend to go back unless it's just for drinks and the view.

We stumbled upon this place and it was delicious serendipity. We went on a Sunday late morning and had the classic fried chicken and waffles. The chicken was amazing and not greasy. The waffles were really good too with a bit of crunch. I loved the kitchy, eclectic decor and old beer signs.

Had a early lunch on a Sunday. Two of my sons live in Austin and really like eating at Lucy's. My wife and I were visiting and needed to get a early lunch so we could leave Austin. Parking is a little tricky but adequate, easy to find. Sitting was quick and easy, three of us had the chicken tenders and wife had the chicken biscuit, we were all pleased with out choices, i had the collared greens while the boys had mashed potatoes. Everything was very good. They did have a sunday special of crawdad's and to tell the truth the next table had them and if i would have had time i might have ordered them as well, they looked and smelled great. They have a fairly extensive menu for such a small diner. They have inside and out side eating. We ate outside and the temperature was very pleasant. Very good meal.

Our flight arrived quite late and we were looking for a place that was still open. Lucy's had great service, good food, and a nice atmosphere. Their beer selection wasn't big but did have some good choices.

Solid first meal in Austin. Great texas atmosphere featuring Texas cuisine. The deep fried deviled eggs were great, covered in an extra crispy, hot chicken like batter. The contrast between the texture of the hard boiled egg and crunchy batter was awesome and the dish had a nice heat to it. The Layla's oyster were nice and smoky, though the bacon was just flung on top, the Parmesan was non existent and the tequila butter added nothing to the dish. The chicken fried steak(a dish I haven't eaten in years) was moist and tender with a good crunch and a rich gravy that was a good consistency. Service was charming and friendly.

Their website allows online order with curbside pickup. After using this service and waiting in my car for 15mins (even got a text saying let us know that you’re here), I decided to call...no answer, then went to the host who was unapologetic and made it seem like I made the error. Was told to go to the bar so I did and waited for the rude and unfriendly bar tender to ask me what I wanted and was given the now cold chicken. Terrible time at what seem like a restaurant that doesn’t care about the customer experience.

Don't miss this spot!!! The fried chicken is as good as it gets. The chicken livers are outstanding. I love the Diablo oysters. The place is small with patio, tvs, and great service.

I hate leaving bad reviews- but I need to be honest. I ordered six different meals off their menu and didn't like any of them. Corn dogs typically aren't that hard to make, but I couldn't swallow this one. I think people mainly want to come to Lucy's Fried Chicken because of the incredible lake view, and although it is gorgeous, they could've done so much with the space that they bought, but I feel like they threw that all away! Some of the staff can be nice. Others are flat out rude. The girls couldn't be less modest for a family restaurant. Crop tops and some of the shortest jean shorts you will ever see. I personally would not take my kids back here.

We had fried chicken and grilled chicken. Both were good. Service was friendly. The lime pie came with real whipped cream. Overall a good spot on SoCo.

This place has the best fried chicken I have ever had! I wanted to try okra so I got it fried and creole. Both were good! My boyfriend and I split a whole bucket of chicken too and got corn on the cob. Everything was delish! I would come back here on my next trip. I loved our waitress too she was funny! LOVE it!

We had take-out and the chicken was dry as were the potatoes (with no gravy in the bag). I have heard good things about this restaurant, but was very disappointed.

The atmosphere is very laid back and the service was good, the sides weren’t anything special but the fried chicken is great

We enjoyed our afternoon here and the food was average. The view makes it worth the visit. Slow but nice service because I think they are understaffed.

I had the good fortune of attending an event hosted at Lucy's and was quite enamored by the place. A very friendly and outgoing staff made the experience warm and welcoming and well, there was a ton of fried chicken and mac and cheese and I just loved having the opportunity to be there. It made it a great venue to socialize with others in attendance and when I return to Austin, I will make sure to return to this remarkable place.

A must visit. A hole in the wall kind of place but with a honky tonk flavor. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Fried chicken awesome. The onion rings to die for. Chicken tenders large portion. Try the specials never disappointing, this time king ranch fried chicken enchiladas. Desserts you have to try the Elvis Pie, has chocolate, peanut butter cheesecake, bananas and whip cream. The smore pie also great. Please share big enough. A must visit time and time again.

The husband and I tried this last Friday, and thought the food was good. I had the chicken basket, black eye peas, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was runny and the black eye peas were ok. The chicken was no better than any other chicken. I don't get the hype on this.

This place is great! Loved the atmosphere, friendly staff. The fried chicken was the best I've had yet.

Awesome fried chicken. We were here for Sunday Brunch. We all had the Chicken and waffles. The waffles are thin and crispy. Incredible, they never get soggy and I loved the crunch and buttery taste. Best I've ever had. Chicken was southern style with perfect seasoning and crispy. Loved it, great service and sweet tea.

Lucy's is a laid back Austin favorite. Their chicken is juicy and delicious. While they offer other dishes, if it's your first time try the chicken. The atmosphere is a little funky and laid back, with outdoor but covered seating. It is expensive, but on par for Austin. Ask about the beer specials, there is usually one or two each night.

Don't visit Austin without enjoying the great food at Lucy's. The deep-fried deviled eggs and the fried chicken are to die for. Get there early...only a few tables dot the must-see dining room. Step back to the 50s and towards some amazing food here!

Had the fried chicken breast with mac n cheese yummy in my tummy. So good you gotta try this place out i have eaten fried chicken all over the usa and the world this is the best bar none. Awsomeness for sure.

My family ate dinner at Lucy's Fried Chicken. It had a real relaxed atmosphere and very good food. Reasonable prices and good portions made this stop one of my favorites. We had their fried chicken and I sampled their gizzards which I really enjoyed.

We try going there every two weeks. The fried green tomatoes are a must along with the fried hard boiled eggs. Economically the bucket of chicken for $25 feeds my wife, son and I with some left overs Their specials are also interesting esp. the mac and cheese. Say hi to the Willie Nelson mannequin.

The fried deviled eggs were good, a bit spicy and the sauce was tasty. The black eyed peas were excellent, as was the fried okra. Wait staff were very attentive and my ice tea was never empty. My catfish sandwich was crispy and tender it was excellent. My wife had the cauliflower salad with fried chicken, it was very good. The serving sizes make for an extra meal to take home for later. The banana pudding is fantastic, we took one to go. The Watermelon margarita is really good not too sweet and tastes like good tequila. If you like southern fried this is a good spot for a meal. They have a number of things on the menu so it should be easy for everyone to find something they like.

WINNA WINNA CHIKIN DINNA! Much more than fried chicken! The fried yard bird is the obvious choice but do not let that scare you away if you require a more healthy choice. They also offer a "JBG summer salad", fresh shucked and grilled oysters, and shiner bock rotisserie birds as well. I chose the latter for a modest attempt to keep the heart happy and healthy. I chose a side of creole okra that was amazing. The chicken was cooked to perfection and "BEST I EVER HAD"! Grilled skin on with distinct heavy grill marks showing. Crispy crunchy skin and amazing flavor with the juice just pouring out when you cut into it. A hearty portion and highly recommended. If you can resist the temptation of the most sought after item.....fried chicken. YUM! Enjoy. Full bar. Good stuff! Great job guys!

I can’t stop thinking about their fried chicken and waffle skewers. Amazing!! Kitschy place with tight seating but WORTH it!

Back in town so I had to have my fried chicken fix! Frozen signature "juicy Lucy" fro marg, a bucket of incredibly moist white meat, fried okra, and hand cut fries with homemade aoli topped with crunchy chicken skin cracklins.... Need I say more?

Nothing we had was out of this world, but everything was pretty good. My husband had the oysters and loved them - also they were only $14 for a dozen! The key lime pie was a nice light finish. Happy hour had good prices. The burn-it bowl was good but not great. The corn bread muffins had zero flavor. I would try a few other things but definitely going back.

The food is so good. Everything I tried (appetizers, entree) was so good! I haven't made it back to try other things, but I would definitely recommend the food! Only downfall is that the seating is limited.

The fried deviled eggs have a light crispy batter with a spicy cool dipping sauce. After the first bite we knew we had found a new favorite. The chicken fried steak (platter size), fresh mashed potatoes, and bucket of fried chicken were all wonderful. The mexican cola sweet potatoes were also the best I have ever had. Lone Star beer was cold and the Hee-Hawlapeno cocktail was a spicy smooth cocktail I would order again and again. Desert was the Elvis which is a homemade chocolatey peanut pie that is a perfect desert and doesn't go overboard like the big chain restaurants with previously frozen bulk made baked goods. Love this restaurant and its staff. Will go back and highly recommend.

Great fried chicken, outdoor or indoor seating. Just watch for the crows when outside they enjoy chicken also. Great service and a lot of options in the menu.

Firstly - get the bucket of chicken. Any of them. Just perfect. Secondly, the best tacos I've had ever. Period. Then do yourself a favor and go back again for more!!

Wow just wow !! I heard somewhere that Lucy’s Fried Chicken was the best fried chicken in Texas . You know what ? They were right . My 2 friends & I piled into a car & drove all the way from San Antonio to Austin to check & see if the urban myth was true . Katie was our waitress & she was awesome . She was patient , nice & had a wonderful smile . We started off with some calamari . It was hot , crispy & wonderful . I had the chicken basket all dark meat . O -M-G . It was hot , crispy & seasoned to perfection . I had macaroni & cheese , fried okra & cornbread. The sides were just as good as the chicken . The entire staff is really wonderful & the restrooms were really clean . I’ll definitely be back .

But then, I realized there are people who may have never tasted fried chicken before and have no clue between good and bad. If this was fast food drive through, I wouldn’t return in all likelihood. Bland. Greasy. Pieces undercooked/borderline raw. I heard of a new invention - SALT and PEPPER, let alone other seasonings. The chicken is garbage. It’s beyond my comprehension they have some reputation of being good. Avoid. You’re welcome.

A friend recommended Lucy's so we went and boy was the fried chicken good. The slaw was spicy but delicious. Friendly staff.

What a view! Bar is kinda slow and the wait can be thirty minutes but what the heck...you are at the lake and the view is great! Great selection of local draft beers as well as a full bar. Terrific appetizers. Got onion rings and green fried tomatoes. Mmmm good. The Diablo oysters are HOT the fried CHICKEN is the restaurant special and great. When the sun goes down the fireflies come out! Weekends there is a live band. Great food, drinks, dancing and fun for all ages. This is a pet friendly restaurant. Enjoy.

best smoked oyster i have ever had, spicy, really really spicy but just wonderful. sides and chicken very good also

OK first things first the fried chicken was delicious and perfect but I would get it to go ....now, The bathrooms were disgusting you couldn’t even breathe inside them because of the sewage smell they were filthy as well, we went there specifically because my friend had to have a drunken catfish sandwich that she remembered from three years ago she was so disappointed and sad when nothing on her sandwich was as she remembered, the bread was soggy ,the catfish was limp the pickles weren’t pickles anymore they were just cucumbers it goes on and on, The macaroni and cheese was a very small amount and it was just OK I ordered the fried chicken and I was the only happy one at the table, my friend then thought maybe it could be salvaged by a piece of tea pie that she remembered so we got two pieces of pie and they were both awful with sogginess and crust that tasted like it had been frozen. Our waitress however couldn’t have been kinder or chirpier and she was extremely busy )and she still found the time to be extra nice to us.

We had been eating our way through Austin all day, but really hadn't had dinner yet, so fried chicken at 10:00pm seemed completely appropriate. Excellent fried chicken by the bucketful served by fun waitstaff...perfect!

Loved the beer-brined chicken, but really everything was good. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the prices were reasonable.

I love the fried chicken here and the potato salad is killer. I have had many of the oyster specials, and they were all superb. Interesting mixed drinks, good beers, not a lot of them. But, for me, Lone Star goes great with Fried Chicken. Staff. Another story. Impatient, alas....even pushy. Order placed for the cocktail. A house speciality for the lady, a shot for me. 15 minutes....we were sitting 10 feet from the bar. Mr, Waiter never came back until her overheard me speak to Ms Bartender as she walked by. I eat here often, I live in Austin. STAFF CAN BE FIXED......so no worries there. Go for the food, by all means.

Unfortunately, on a recent lunch visit I had a second consecutive disappointing meal. I was hoping the previous was an aberration. I had enjoyed my previous visits to Lucy's, but it seems the decline continues. The chicken was bland, a bit soggy and served only a little bit above room temperature. No one would call it hot, and few would call it flavorful. Sadly, Lucy's seems to have become a place more content with coasting on its past reputation than serving good food. Service was good, and the staff was friendly, though.

Good honkitonk vibe with a modern twist. Food is so good you could eat it till you get sick. I feel like it could be a tiny bit cheaper but over all a great place to bring friend's or family

I enjoyed the daily special. Two breasts, fries, and I added a side salad. I really enjoyed the horseradish grapefruit salad dressing. The fresh lemonade was also good. Drop in you'll enjoy it.

Nice place; seemed like an original place with young, fresh air breathed into it rather than a fakey authentic air (Joe's Original Crab Shack, ahem). Which I appreciated. Wish the front staff was a little more welcoming, but nothing that was a deal-breaker. Anyway. Iced tea, sweet or unsweet, kept refilled--that's always a good sign! It was too warm for me to get a plate of fried chicken, so I opted for a "deluxified" house salad, which is salad with a piece of chicken on the side, either grilled or fried. The house salad was a pleasant surprise. Instead of the typical iceberg lettuce-based salad, it was baby greens, sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, and broccoli florets. Tasty! The piece of fried chicken ended up being a de-boned and chopped chicken breast at room temperature, slightly dry but still crisp. The real win of the meal was the West Texas Red Chili, made with chunks of ground beef, beans, and a thick tomato-based sauce; very, very similar to what I remember my own Texas mother making. Served the way she did it, with a generous amount of Saltines on the side, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion (here they use red), and chopped pickled jalapenos, which was a nice addition. On impulse I got an order of fried deviled eggs to go, and while they were good, if you are curious about this regional fave, it's worth the drive out to Bastrop to try them at Paw-Paw's.

My husband and I had fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, beer grilled chicken, greens, mac and cheese, potatoe salad. Every item was absolutely delicious no complaints at all. There is not a lot of inside space but plenty outside. Everyone was super nice the server was very familiar with the menu and happy to answer all questions. I would recommend trying if your in the Austin area.

We will return! Service was good--friendly waiter with a sense of humor and pictures of the daily special on his phone. Appetizer of friend deviled eggs was amazing, and the batter had my mouth watering and ready for the chicken. Three of us shared two baskets of fried chicken, the mac-n-cheese, greens, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and black eyed peas. Black-eyed peas had a hint of mint, sweet potatoes were to die for, mashed potatoes were good, the greens were heavenly and the mac-n-cheese was a little watery and not as good as hoped. For dessert we shared the mango upside down cake and the butterscotch pie, both amazing and both enhanced by the coffee. The only disappointments were the mac-n-cheese (possible a personal preference in terms of taste and expectation) and the nachos which the fourth member at the table ordered and looked simply ok. The chicken was truly good--tasty without being greasy, large pieces and more than ample given what else we ordered. Good selection of beer, to include PBC's Robert Earle Keene honey pils. Now if they had only had the hefe we would have been over the moon. Excellent prices given what was ordered. Casual interior was a little noisy once filled, but doable.

My wife and I checked out this place for some fried chicken. We ordered the chicken fingers and they were cooked very well. For me, they were a little under seasoned but some hot sauce fixed that. The fries were good and the okra fine. The slaw was not my favorite - I though it could use some vinegar to help. The ambiance was causal and fun - family style and open. Prices were adequate so all said, not bad. The waitress was nice and responsive and the decor really added to the overall effect.

We came upon Lucy's as we were exploring the area. A total hidden gem. Very cool atmosphere. Felt like being back in time with the decor. For lunch, we had fried chicken, fried chicken livers, jalapeño corn bread, and chili. By far, best chili I have ever eaten. Spicy, but not not overwhelming. Extra jalapeños on the side if wanted. Warm cornbread was the perfect side. Very reasonably priced. Don't underestimate this little gem. Highly recommend!!!

Halfway to Austin, we were hungry and started checking Urbanspoon for restaurants close to the hotel. Lucy's was one of the choices. What sold us besides location? Sweet tea pie. It was amazing. The first bite is sweet, light, lemon with a lovely tea aftertaste. Totally worth it. And you can't beat $1 Lone Star with a stick.

This is the first time I have eaten at the College St location, although I have had Lucy’s at other locations. The chicken is very good, moist inside and crunchy out side, not greasy and very satisfying. I had the onion rings as well and they were terrific. As it’s too hot to eat out, I ate inside, it a bit too tight and run down, but you don’t come here for the atmosphere. All in all, I think Lucy’s is the best fried chicken I’ve had in Austin.

I loved the Chicken, but my favorite was the Chicken Livers, I know most people don't like Liver, but it was awesome, if you love livers, a must, they melt in your mouth.

Lucy's is funky and fun. The food was so good. My server was fun, engaging and informative. The prices were modest compared to the great quality.

My husband and I decided we must have Texas fare and a good cocktail on the way home from the airport. We chose Lucy's just off South Congress, which was just what the doctor ordered. We split the giant chicken friend steak, sweet potatoes, black-eyed peas and onion rings, all of which were terrific. Our server Aradia did a great job making our whiskey cocktails as well as serving dinner. A fun, super-casual place with a great meal and a perfect ending to a beautiful fall afternoon in Austin.

I'm a pretty picky fried chicken eater, so I thought I'd give Lucy's a whirl this afternoon to see if it's any good. Pleasantly surprised to not only was the chicken pretty good, the service was excellent. Dani was great with service and smiles. The fried chicken was just a tad on the oily side, actually not so much the chicken as the basket, like they might not have let it drain quite long enough. Probably just a one time thing. Chicken was seasoned, breaded and cooked perfectly. And it was actually able to eat, not still 375°. That was nice. The basket comes with a pickled jalapeno wedge and pickle. The tea was good and it was fresh. Their Bayou Betty Hot Sauce was decent, and more with a higher temp if you are so inclined. All in all, I'm going to try some other things on their menu next time, like the grilled oysters, CFS and mountain oysters next trip. And maybe a couple of those cold beers I saw.

If you want some great fried chicken, black eyed peas, corn bread and mustard greens, this is the place. Yummy!

Can't wait to go back! Fantastic service and amazing chicken and fried pickles. Can't stop thinking about this place!!

really good place to reminisce and eat sunday brunch with good music . they mix a great mimosa if your in the mood .

Fried everything! Started with fried deviled eggs. ..dumb stupid good! Smoked then fried chicken wings were amazing! The grief chicken salad sandwich on pumpernickel with salt&vinegar chips! I will be stopping here EVERY time I visit Austin.

Wonderful local joint that we were told we needed to try. I had the catfish sandwich and it was better than I expected. My husband got oysters and the kids got chicken fingers and nachos. We started the meal with deep fried deviled eggs. OMG, get these little bits of fried goodness. It is a must. We all left happy and full.

We went there after a long night of drinking so I can only remember so much - like how good the chicken was. I think the corn on the cob was good too. My husband said the chicken fried steak was pretty good.

I have been to Lucy's 4 time. I don't care for the way they prepare chicken but definitely like the rest of the menu, my favorite is the onion rings. In door seating w/ bar, out door veranda, and uncovered seating. They do a very nice menu brunch. The entre portions are always "super sized".

We went there the first time while looking for another restaurant but now it is in our top three, even if you are not into livers there is a full menu of great food and the drinks are good, the prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is so laid back Austin.

I love my fried chicken and Lucy's did not disappoint! We ordered the bucket of chicken which feed 4, two adults and 2 children. The sides were very good and the potatoe salad was great. We were to full for dessert but I had cake waiting for me at home!! Note: If you like a wide variety of hot sauces then you come to the right place, there are plenty to chose from!

We went because of the gizzards and livers and stayed for a sweet potato and some chili. We have a hard time finding such delightful appetizers elsewhere. Are service was good, the food was great and we will definitely be back.

Tonight we went here and had such an amazing time. Both the entrees were amazing, but especially the choices in (local) wine and beer, and appetizers, made it a very fun experience. The fried deviled eggs are to die for! And the beer battered onion rings were splendid. I'm gonna miss this food! Southern Cajun in such a good authentic way is rare to find!

We had passed this restaurant and saw how packed it was and thought that was a good sign. Great outdoor seating, fast service. I guess because I am from New Orleans I am used to a little more seasonings on my chicken. Maybe it was just me, because they obviously keep a packed house. It is definitely worth a try for the outdoor seating and the friendly staff.

Once again I found myself trying to escape the hordes of tourists and hipsters so I walked aimlessly right into this cute place. Sunday morning seems to be a bad time for brunch unless you get anywhere early. This gem, NO waiting. Certainly made me happy. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and my waitress was the sweetest and most attentive girl ever. I was parched & out she runs with a ginormous glass of ice cold water & fresh coffee. Fantastic enough to put a smile on my face. Next comes food. I ordered the fried king I believe it was called. At any rate, it's a melt in your mouth sandwich of fried egg, lomita ham, golden, thick-crusted toast coated with a yummy tomato jam and round juicy hash potatoes on the side. Really a delightful and super inexpensive fill your belly meal. Why only 4 stars then? Didn't look like there were many food options but every order I did see was huge and because I can't give 4 1/2 stars.

We chose to try Lucy's because of it being on the water. The food was average (though the fried deviled eggs are a must try). Unfortunately we just did not have good service, so that put a damper on the meal. Give it a try and it may be better with quality wait staff.

I was told to have fried chicken and waffles before I visited Austin. Well, I thought it sounded awful but I decided to try it. I was amazed how good it tasted. You need an empty stomach and may or want to eat for another 24 hours but it's great. Stevie, the server, was fantastic and made the whole experience great! 5 stars!

I visited the Lucy's on south congress the food was pretty good. Visited for a business lunch. Nice place with a good feel. Good patio space as well for a nice day. I had the chicken basket food was hot which is always a must. Macaroni and the greens were my side of choice. Must admit it was very good. I have eaten Gus fried chicken also I think they both are really good. Must try good food

Sunday brunch features cocktails starting at $3 (see pic). The fried chicken is superb. But, the sides steal the show. The black eyed peas, corn, okra, and collard greens are farm-to-table fresh; Just like grandma made’em. Portions are generous. Servers are smiling and efficient. Funky converted old house off of South Congress, the “backyard” dining area is shady and breezy. Home style!

Let me start by saying I am not a chicken fan but everyone with me was. I had the chicken tenders and fries. There was at least 15 tenders and a basket of fries and they were the best I had ever had. Lucy's is just a hole in the wall but great food. If you go try the fried deviled eggs. A little spicy for me but a must try.

We ate here after a day out on the boat. The view of lake Travis was awesome. Casual dinning on picnic tables. The fried chicken was great.

The food here is on par with Churches Chicken but twice the price. The service is slow and I must say the elderly lady server was quite abrupt in her demeanor. I don't think she has people skills. I won't go here. Go to Gus' Fried Chicken if you want an upscale chicken dinner. They are a winner.

To date Lucy's fried chicken is hands down best I have had and serves as the benchmark every time I try new fried chicken elsewhere. I feel guilty eating fried chicken elsewhere because Lucy's Fried Chicken is the best. The sides are awesome as well if you are into that. Parking has gotten much better over the years so I can't really think of any bad things. The price is very reasonable and the staff very attentive and speedy.

I can't remember the last time I had authentic fried chicken and was I glad I walked into Lucy's! We shared a basket of chicken (4 pieces) and 3 sides. (We could have eaten more since everything was so delicious. But this was lunch, so we abstained! Wine and beer was discounted during the lunch hour, too. Location is easy to find at the very end of the South Congress district. With its offbeat vibe, delicious food and Keep Austin Weird decor, you can see why it's such a popular place. Go and try it!

I had the house salad with a fried chicken breast cut up on top and Blue cheese dressing. Four dollar Margarita was excellent but the view is superb. Welcome back Lake Travis. :-)

We were staying on the lake and someone recommended this place to us. It was some of the best chicken we've ever had, along with the best service and view around. We ordered the sweet tea pie for dessert and have a new favorite! If we're ever back in Austin, we'll be back!

My husband and I ate at Lucy's on the recommendation from a few family members. It was a late dinner on a Saturday night (around 8:30) and the place was not busy- we were seated immediately. Parking is tight but there is additional parking on the street. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered a lemonade, fried chicken tenders and Texas caviar and my husband ordered the mashed potatoes with poblano-chorizo gravy and the "basket" which is 4 pieces of mixed, fried chicken. The tenders arrived piping hot which was fine with me because who wants to eat cold grease. They were fresh, perfectly fried and not greasy at all. The Texas caviar was okay though I thought the black-eyed peas were slightly undercooked. The lemonade was delicious, very refreshing! My husband said the fried chicken was really, really good (also not greasy) and loved the mashed potatoes (they're made with real potatoes, not the "instant" stuff). We will definitely be back!

Lucy’s is one of the best fried chicken restaurants in Austin. The fried chicken is always crisp and savory. The restaurant is a true dive and a a gem in town. At lunch Lone Star is $1!

Good southern fried chicken and comfort sides. This was a great end to our trip to Austin. It was great atmosphere, service and food.

We took our grandson here for our almost weekly Sunday lunch. We had a recommendation from an acquaintance so, despite the menu prices for what is - after all - fried chicken, we gave it a try. For most likely the last time. Grandson had the four piece basket and a side of mashed potatoes, I had the cold chicken basket with potato salad, and my wife, who was not very hungry had a side of fried okra (and tastes from our baskets). All of us drank water; no other beverage was ordered. The food was decent, but not outstanding. Grandson did manage to almost fill both of his hollow legs. Not sure what I was expecting in the cold chicken basket, but what I got could easily be imitated by refrigerating some fried chicken takeout at a lower price. As usual for me, my rating is based on value provided, not hype. Considering that my wife ordered only a side, the bill came to $30 (including tip) which is a very high price for chicken (remember, no beverages in that price). The restaurant is a bit south of the main SoCo scene, so not sure what the big draw is. Sorry...

Lucy's offers a lot more then fried chicken. Their daily specials are always exciting and there sides are amazing. Thankfully, they also offer plenty of options for vegetarians. I especially love their cornbread and devilled eggs.

This is our favorite fried chicken restaurant in Austin, Texas. The service is friendly, the food is good and well worth the stop for lunch or dinner.

Went with the office to welcome a new member of the team. All who went said the food was very delicious and they enjoyed their meals. Lucy's has a cold basket, which is definitely work getting. The potato salad in that basket is great, and the cold chicken adds another dimension to fried chicken.

I finally decided to stop at this place and try the fried chicken, it was good but I make better ;). I had the basket of fried chicken and a side of corn. I wish the chicken came out steaming hot instead of warm but it still tastes good. The corn was a plain corn on the cob but none the less delicious. A plus they have at this spot is Big Red Soda. My sister had the collards which she said were really good and the mashed potatoes she said were ok. We sat outdoors and the weather was perfect, the only downfall was all the flys around our food. I would recommend giving this place a try.

Had dinner here recently and very much enjoyed the fried chicken basket. The chicken was crisp yet still very tender inside with a nice combination of flavor. Had the Texas Caviar as a side and was a bit disappointed as it seemed to be on the soft / soggy side. Cool atmosphere with old album covers / concert posters on the walls and a fun, noisy crowd. Great spot to have a quick chicken dinner with a couple of cold beers.

Not sure why this happened, so I can only speculate...but I don't want to be negative. The 2nd waitress, the guy who served us drinks and the red bearded guy were all awesome in fixing things. I will not be going back to this location as we were not made to feel welcome.

Visited Lucy's on the lake outside of Austin. Great view. Outdoor seating was hot (it is July) but they had Pearl cans of beer for a buck. Great marketing ploy because the beer is perfect for the awesome fried chicken, slaw and other family type fair. No pretense here. Just good food. You'll get greasy, sweaty and full. It's all good!

So many great dishes - the Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Spaghetti dishes (to share) were off the charts!! Their homemade Margarita were equally excellent! One thing that set them apart was the outstanding service from our waitress, Dixie! She made you feel at home and had great recommendations! Great good & Dixie’s positive energy - you leave full in so many ways!! Can’t wait to get back there!!

Excellent chicken, we had the bucket of chicken, fried gizzards, chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, calf fries and the fried deviled eggs. Loved everything. Our waitress was great and to top it off the Pearl Beer was only a buck. Highly recommend.

Solid fried chicken with all the fixin's available. You got your black-eyed peas, collards, mac & cheese, but for me it's all about dessert. Peach cobbler anyone?

In Austin for SXSW. My son lives here and raves about Lucy's Fried Chicken. We went to the College Ave location for dinner. Very friendly staff and great service. We were not disappointed; the chicken and blackened fish sandwich were wonderful. Great service, great food, fully satisfied. My son was right, this is a wonderful place for Chicken. Stop by for great food.

Great food but i little expensive for where it is and what it is. However the good was really good and tasted amazing.

This restaurant’s popularity is vexing. We found the fried chicken tasteless, tough, and dry. The breading is neither crisp nor flavorful. One should not have to drench one’s fried chicken in Crystal pepper sauce for taste. Billing yourself as a fried chicken establishment yet relying on various hot sauces for taste is an offense to fried chicken. Perhaps even an offense to God. Several years ago, my significant other and I dined at Lucy’s. We found that experience lacking. Last evening, in fit of “fried chicken fever,” we (it turns out, foolishly) decided to give Lucy’s another try. Perhaps we just had a singular bad experience? Maybe it was an off night? Turns out, we were wrong. Dead wrong. I’m kidding, of course. Nobody was injured—except our tastebuds. However, the fried chicken was mediocre, and this recent experience perfectly aligned with our previous feelings: “MEH.” I don’t quite understand this restaurant’s popularity: bland chicken for premium prices. Are Austintes so vain that they will eat subpar chicken in defense of a hometown hero? Or, alternatively, is it a lack of fried chicken options? I find the latter alternative hard to believe. So, for God’s sake, why do people eat here? Let it be know, on this day, the thirtieth of March, in year of our Lord, two thousand and nineteen, this Austinite takes a proud stand against mediocre fried chicken and hereby warrants that he will never eat at Lucy’s again. At least until I forget how much I dislike this place. Two-out-of-five (2/5) because of the fried okra and seafood-restaurant ice—my Diet Coke was refreshing as Hell. 💗One Love ❤️

Not much food for the price and must purchase sides separate. Chicken strips and fries with water was $15 (and there was not much chicken- 5 small strips). Kens sauce was good.

A group of work colleagues wanted to try some decent, authentic, fried chicken. You can find it at Lucy's. We had chicken literally by the bucket. Really enjoyable, tasty meal. Lots of sides and good drinks. Very sociable laid back atmosphere. If your in the area this restaurant is recommended.

Ate there in August while moving my sophomore LH in her apt. So good. Fried chicken hit the spot. Jukebox is the best. Wish I could get a listing

I tried Lucy's for the first time and had chicken n' waffles and banana pudding delivered for lunch today. I love chicken and waffles, and I have tried it from several different places. This is definitely one of the chicken and waffles that I have had. The chicken was bland, and the waffles taste like they were freezer burnt. So disappointed to see they were not homemade or at the very least not fresh. The banana pudding was okay but not worth $7.31 and there were no bananas in it. I will not order from here again.

Impromptu drive down Congress led us to this little slice of heaven. Awesome outside seating ,pet friendly, sweet atmosphere.

The view of this restaurant is excellent able to see Lake Travis. The chicken was very god but the prices were a little much as far as sides. For a family of four to get full you will spend much more than going to KFC or Gus's

We went to LUCY'S because I had seen it on a Tv show about the best Fried Chicken in the Country, We had the Fried Green Tomatoes which were to thick and under cooked, the Gizzards were Great but to small a portion for the price. The Resturant is a Hole in the Wall Resturant, the Staff was extremely nice and Friendly, We also got a Bucket of Chicken, which was good, but definitely not for the price same goes for the sides, we had Mashed potatoes and Greens. The Mashed potatoes were to lumpy for me and I didnt care for the gravy. Would I go back Yes because would like to try the Fried Chicken Nachos and fried Chicken Sandwich and Loved the Gizzards thou they should be ashamed of the portions sizes, especially related to Gizzards and sides are cheap and they charge is high.

Casual and fun! There was more than friend chicken, including salads, roasted veggies, grilled cheese. Coleslaw was great!

First time here and we loved it! Good food, great service and very fun atmosphere! Would surely be back next time I’m in Austin!

I was disappointed. After hearing so much about this place for so long I was expecting hot, juicy, fried chicken with some grease (in a good way) dripping from it. Instead it was more like baked chicken with a coating. The meat was dry and made me want gravy. Other things were better. The beer-battered onion rings were great, and the sides we tried -- mashed potatoes with gravy, collard greens, and slaw -- were all tasty. The slaw had a little bit of a kick to it and was made with red cabbage which was a nice twist. The service was prompt and friendly without being intrusive.

The fried chicken was very yummy. My partner had the smoked chicken sandwich which she said was one of the best sandwiches she'd ever had. Have a Juicy Lucy, a frozen watermelon margarita! Yaayyy!

I dined on the porch and it was fantastic. Other diners brought dogs and it was wonderful. Good service, good food. Of course you have to get the fried chicken. All sides are good too. Start with the deviled eggs.

We have lived in Austin for years now and have never been....mistake! This was awesome! We had the chicken basket that was amazing. We also had a few things off the brunch menu that were also to die for. We started with the fried green tomatoes were amazing! All of Thiele's suggestions were spot on. We didn't get to try the tempting deserts because we were so full. Our server was Thiele, obviously, and you just can't get a better server. Hilarious and positive and so fun!! Don't miss out for years like we did.

We sat outside. The heaters were on as it was a little chilly. Server was quick to take our order and the food came out fast. We were a little bummed to find out that we couldn't get chicken and waffles because they only serve it on Sundays. Fried green tomatoes were in a basket and bite size so plenty to share. I ordered a single piece of chicken and could choose which piece I wanted. Others in our party had hot chicken, sandwich and a club. All were big hits.

This was our first visit and my family and I enjoyed our meal. The breading in the fried chicken was seasoned perfectly. It had a slight spicy tang and was crispy. My son loved his oyster dish and the dessert was incredible. The mason jar with banana pudding was cool and delightful. My daughter had the lemon pie. It tasted like lighter version of cheesecake. Decadent but light.

The fried chicken was great, as was the dish of fried okra. However, the collard greens had brown sugar. I don't think I have ever eaten collard greens w/brown sugar. I thought they were awful. You can tell that they keep the grease in the deep fryer the correct temperature, because the chicken was not greasy. It was crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, even the white meat. My husband & I split a "basket" of 4 pieces. It was 1/2 a chicken: 1 wing, 1 breast, 1 thigh, and 1 leg. Perfect for 2 people. They have a number of beers on draft and bottled. This location has that old Austin "vibe". There are huge Live Oak trees that shade the parking lot. Additional parking is across College (near Congress). The service was also good. I recommend.

Every time I’m in Austin, I eat as much Tex Mex as I can. To say I was less than thrilled to be eating fried chicken when a friend recommended it would be an understatement! However, I was so surprised! The service and atmosphere are top notch, portions are generous, and the food is delicious! Do not miss: mexicola sweet potatoes, sweet tea chess pie. Skip: Texas caviar.

I have always enjoyed Lucy's for great fried chicken, of course, eating in is best, but I also have had many good meals with take out buckets, and sides. Yesterday, I was very disappointed. I typically will order a beer or drink while ordering take out. Yesterday, the take out order arrived within 5 minuets of ordering, which tells me it was not freshly prepared. When I got it home 15 min later, it was very dry and not crispy as usual. The breading was not as flavorable as usual. Wife was very disappointed also. Make sure you ask for "fresh" when you are ordering takeout...Fried chicken from Lucy's is usually extremely good eat in or take out; just bad luck on this visit.

Was excited to try this. After my husband and I left the first time, stunned at how little either of us cared for the food (especially the sides) we shook it off - there's gotta be something to the hype, right? - and tried it again. For the last time. Unless it's free, then I guess I'd try it for free once the memory fades. I miss the Mexican place that used to be there. THAT was good food.

Came in for a late brunch (2pm) and had Chicken and Waffles along with a basket of fried oysters and other goodies. Let me tell you, these are the best waffles and I don't like sweets for breakfast, but the chicken with them cut the sweetness and was a perfect compliment to the waffles.

This is a neat place, the kind of restaurant you expect to find in this area of Austin. The fried chicken was okay, but not as good as I expected for a place focused on fried chicken. A little more spice and this place could kill it. Didn't have a chance to try what look like good appetizers. Good service and fun beers, but I wouldn't come back for the chicken.

We had heard about Lucy's for a while and decided to try it. We were in for a big surprise. We ordered chickens tenders for the kids. It was so spicy they couldn't eat it. The coleslaw was so spicy the older people we had with us couldn't eat it. Who would have thought coleslaw and tenders would be too spicy to eat especially when the menu made no reference to being spicy. Lucy is evidently famous for mac and cheese. It honestly was pretty.pedestrian. Mine is easily better and I am not a chef. Was it just this location or is the other one the same. There is a new one going to Lake Travis. It better be better than this one or it won't last long.

This place rocks chicken! And grits and Mac&cheese and pudding and and and.... Chicken and waffles were incredible! Banana pudding, yes!

We got a large bucket of chicken that fed four of us easily with some left over to take home. This is more of an outdoor place than indoor which is nice on a pleasant evening. The menu is a bit pricy for chicken for a simple man like me, but higher prices go hand in hand with Austin. However, the food was very good and I will eat here again.

I was actually quite disappointed. I like all white meat and my daughter likes all dark meat so we each ordered the 4 piece figuring we could just trade a great and wing for a thigh and leg....easier said than done when the breast and thigh looked exactly the same size and all. I've never seen such a small chicken breast. And on top of that the chicken wasn't crispy and didn't have much taste. Will not be returning anytime soon.

There were three of us dining for a "girls lunch" on a weekday and we had heard there were always huge lines at this place. So, we got there right after 11am and were the only ones there until about 1130am. Great patio for outside dining. It was chilly on the day we were there and the outdoor heaters kept the patio nice an toasty. Place is casual with a very "Austin" vibe - kind of an "anything goes" feel. The menu is not huge, but has quite a few options for those who may not want fried chicken. Although, why go if you aren't going to have chicken? And, the deviled eggs are a must for an app, if you haven't tried them! Yum. this certainly is not a place for a "light" lunch, but very tasty. Service was mentioned in a few of the previous posts. And, while they certainly weren't busy the day we were there, we had great service. Wait staff even asked if we wanted to take sweet tea in "to go" cups when he heard us mention we were all heading out to run errands after our meal. Can't wait to go back and try some other things on the menu. Maybe for an evening meal, rather than lunch.

Lucy's fried chicken is crispy, tasty and simply seasoned. The French fries are hand cut and amazing! Excellent wedge salad with smoky bacon lardons that are addictive. The grilled oysters with chorizo are delicious. Lots of things on the menu to choose from. Skip the bland potato salad. Outstanding service!

An impromptu after-concert gathering for 20? No problem! Assigned a waitress to three long picnic-style tables in their outdoor revival tent-style area. The drinks kept coming, and the grilled chicken was hot, moist and and well marinated.

I love this place so much! I'm such a picky eater and this place really satisfies my cravings every time!!! Best in atx!!! Must visit of from out of town!! Seriously! Hope everyone loves it as much as I do!

The location has character and the staff was great. But, most of all the food was delicious! I have had many fried chicken meals, but this was one set a part from the rest by the flavor, the variety, the ambience, and the culinary inventiveness.

Sunday afternoon visit. Great service, the waiter was very kind Food: Fried Deviled Eggs for appetizers which were very tasty and good. The fried batter is really savory. Chicken and waffles for entrée : meat very tender and moist! it was really delicious and fulfilling. We had a blast! Definitely recommend when visiting.

Madame and I had heard a lot about Lucy's, and have driven past the South Congress location (there are two others, including one west of town, on Lake Travis, that's apparently really scenic) with it's lurid neon sign, on many occasions, and we finally got around to checking the place out on a recent Thursday evening. We loved it. Scenic it ain't -- the place is conscientiously honky-tonkish, fitting right in with the South Congress Ave vibe, with basic wooden tables around the bar indoors (air-conditioned, though!) and a larger number of outdoor tables under a canopy. We sat indoors, on a fairly busy evening, and were immediately offered drinks, menus, and the like. Service, in fact, was very fast and friendly. And the eating...our fried green tomatoes were among the best I've ever had, and the serving was immense. We each ordered a four-piece fried chicken basket with the idea that there'd be leftovers for the next day's lunch, and the chicken was likewise outstanding. The coating is extensive, maybe more so than some might prefer, but I had no trouble stuffing myself and enjoying the process. Sides (slaw, grits, and the like) were also really enjoyable and, like all else, served in large portions). There's much else on the menu besides chicken, that that alone will be more than enough to bring us back. Parking is available in front of the restaurant and in a small auxiliary lot directly across College Ave. I paid with a Visa debit card, but would guess other varieties of plastic are accepted. Prices are downright comfy, and overall the place was really welcoming and friendly. Now, I've got to try those fried chicken livers some time...

We ordered a bucket of chicken, french fries, mashed potatoes, and gravy for a party of 3. That is a massive amount of food. Everything was very good. We enjoyed it so much we ordered takeout two nights later. Ordering online was very easy allowing a quick pickup.

Lucy's is a great place to have a few drinks, eat some food and enjoy the scenery. O and the service is excellent! We ordered the fried hard boiled eggs, cornbread and nachos. The food itself is ok. The hard boiled eggs sound exciting, but they were interesting. Kinda squishy. Lol I'm sure I'll return when I visit Austin again!

Food very expensive for what you get. Chicken tenders were crisp and tasty but $9.50 for 5 tenders is pricey. French fries were awful-half cooked, soggy and tasteless at $5. The Chicken bowl with corn, mashed potatoes, etc. way over priced for what you get which was lots of ordinary mashed potatoes, very little corn and even less chicken. Would not recommend the Lucy's on Burnet. Must be the oysters and cow testicles that make this place popular.

My best friend and I had a pre-concert dinner at Lucy's Fried Chicken on Friday, September 23. Luckily, we found parking right in front and were seated rather quickly. We were famished from the long workday and drive from San Antonio. We promptly ordered the corn muffins. Sadly, the were served almost chilled. The buffet tequila was soft, though. The fried chicken was almost room temperature, which is okay, but I prefer it piping hot. The seasoned french fries and collard greens were super delicious. The cocktails were strong but like flavor. The golden gem of the meal was the Key Lime Pie. It was glorious. All in all, not bad but not great.

Fabulous family place with a great view !!! Great outdoor seating area to take in the view . Very tasty salad and cold chicken ,Also had grilled corn and cornbread.. The highlight were the drinks !!! Great use of herbs !!! Go back in a heartbeat !!!

Fantastic fried chicken, not greasy and none of that horrid stale grease taste or smell. Best macaroni and cheese and best french fries I've ever had.

My dad is a big Food Network fan and has been telling me I have to go to Lucy’s. After reading all the hype, I was expecting amazing chicken. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but nothing better than you could make at home. I hate to say that because I wanted to fall in love with it! Still worth eating if you just want fried chicken...just don’t expect to be amazed.

Got here kinda late in the evening and it was a slow one for them. We got a bucket of chicken and sides and I ordered a appetizer of chicken livers. I got the chicken livers and they were really good and I had good hopes for the meal. Chicken arrived and was kinda disappointed in the chicken. It was ok, nothing special. Seemed to lack the flavor the livers had to the breading. Got one of their moon pies for dessert, it was good. They make their own marshmallow I believe and it was good... usually I am not one for heavy marshmallow... but this was really good, but it is rich, so be warned.

It felt good to have dinner in the patio. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Fries chicken is obviously what you are here for and it won't disappoint you at all. But my special mention goes to the onion rings: amazing.

Went there with a friend for dinner. We got the basket of fried chicken, their chicken sausage entree, and another basket of the cold fried chicken to go. The fried chicken was top notch. The cold friend chicken is unique and really tasty! the sausage dish was pretty average. We got 2 sides: corn bread and fried deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were great, the cornbread was average. We got a moonpie for dessert it was good but not made in house (came pre-packaged like something i can buy at a candy store). Overall the food seemed hit-or-miss but if you go there its for the fried chicken, which they just knock out of the park! Prices were fair, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Really happy we went there on our trip.

This was iconic spot but chicken was dry and no flavor. The place had character and characters and soccer playing and waiter was named Austin— for real. But cramped inside and hot and just wished the food was not over cooked and had flavor like the people. Sides were better and liked the pickles. Could use a solid cleaning all over. It was recommended by the chicken poo bingo bar just a ways away but maybe off day. Not my favorite place.

Man, oh, man... we ate here our first night in Austin and we were not disappointed! The chicken was excellent! So were the friend okra and fried green tomatoes. Service was friendly and quick and the prices were reasonable. Kind of a quirky restaurant, and a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip! My only regret was that we didn't get a chance to go back.

Was in the mood for some fried chicken whilst in Austin and had heard that Lucy’s was a good place. The restaurant is very casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were prompt and efficient but not overly friendly. Prices were reasonable. My friend had the Chicken Fried Steak and I had the Honey Mustard Chicken Tenders. We also shared some mac and cheese and fries (which was a huge portion) as well as finishing with a chocolate pie with pumpkin (due to Halloween). These were all hot, a good size and well seasoned with just a hint of spice to the chicken and fries. Don’t usually like pumpkin but it flavoured the pie nicely. Whilst good if visiting Austin again would probably try another place for fried chicken to compare however would recommend for those visitors looking for a casual filling meal in Austin

Gizzards, calf fries, fried deviled eggs. When you want to blow a weeks worth of fried points, eat a Lucy's In moderation everything tastes great!!!

They had some interesting menu items (fried deviled eggs) but everything is spicy! Our 5 year old couldn't really eat it and as a nursing mom it was very hard for me to eat things as well- the baby was definitely fussy after he nursed! Side dishes were underwhelming no one finished theres. They don't scrimp on the chicken- you definitely get a lot and could share the portions.

Lucy's was homemade comfort food. The staff is friendly and the service was good. They aren't kidding when they say it is "Famous"

Seen on TV and had to try it before I left town. Glad I did. Had some of the best raw oysters ever and the cocktails are wonderful. The wait staff was great. Wish I lived closer I would go a few times a week.

The food here was great. They watermelon margaritas were out of this world. Everything was a bit pricey for what you get. Service wasn't that great either

The fried chicken is obviously the star here, but the sides, drinks, appetizers, and service never disappoint. There are fried deviled eggs on the menu. Pickles. Excellent bloody mary's, and champagne. I love that it's casual. I love that it's kid-friendly. Please leave the chalk out!

An archetypical Austin haunt. Looks like a dump, but it is a hidden jewel. The fried chicken was awesome, the chicken fried steak the way a Tejas native likes it best.Great beer choices. Grab some friends of a feather and hang out. Good hanging out, good food.

Obviously, we came for the chicken. I spoke with many locals before we chose this place and it received the highest marks when I asked which chicken place was the best in Austin. My brother-in-law and I took the kids to grab some lunch and we were not disappointed. Take a look at any of the other reviews and they will agree - Lucy's Fried Chicken is worth the stop. I need to go back so that I can try the Chicken Spaghetti. 10/10 would recommend.

To be totally honest Lucy's was not even on our radar when my friends and I were in search of some good fried chicken. We were going to go to another chicken joint in downtown but since it was college move-in weekend they had a line out the door and around the block. We are so glad we ended up here. The service was great and the food came out very fresh and hot. We got the 4 chicken plate with okra. The chicken came out hot and fresh. I also had the lemonade which was very fresh. If you are looking for a great place with down home cooking and outstanding service then visit Lucy's.

The family was visiting Austin last week for a wedding. My son and I were on our own one day, and he wanted chicken; not fast food but a sit-down type place. He scanned reviews and decided on Lucy’s which is just off South Congress on College Avenue. The building is super cool, looking like some cobbled together, about to fall down barn or horse corral. We had a couple of beers while we looked at the menu. I was interested in several different appetizers, but we finally settled on the Deep Fried Deviled Eggs. I know how they sound, but trust me, they are nuts good. I had the Basket of four pieces of Chicken and the son had the Tenders. He had the Mashed Potatoes and I had the Texas Caviar. Both were excellent. My Chicken was moist and tender and fresh from the fryer. Our server was a nice guy. Nothing to write home about, but adequate. I would return on future visits to Austin to try some of the other appetizers.

Where else can you get a bloody mary with fried chicken crispies on the rim? The food is delicious and the atmosphere, well, Texan!!!
Great fried chicken!!
I was in the mood for fried chicken. We were in So Co district. Really cute place. Delicious fried chicken. Tried the fried deviled eggs. Very good. Had the sweet corn and slaw too. Ordered a bucket of chicken an have enough for our road trip tmwr!
