You will find no better pizza than this unassuming mom and pop pizzeria. Gio is the nicest and funniest, makes you feel right at home. The fresh mozzarella with the basil oil on top is outrageous. The Sicilian pizza is the best I’ve ever had. Each pizza has a different sauce. He grew up in the store and learned from his dad and grandparents. I imagine little has changed since his father Luigi opened the store. We used to live nearby and went once a week. Gio knows your name and is an anchor in the community. We always brought our out of town guests so they could taste the best pizza on earth. We miss this pizza and Gio.

I am a big fan of Barstool Pizza Reviews and my sister got me a t shirt that says one bite everyone knows the rules!! I wore it one day to a pizza stand at Temple and the dude who ran it looked like a frat boy and said he liked my shirt!! I am not a part of bro culture at Temple and also outside of Temple because I have two sisters!! I happen to think that joke fits very well into the review because I went here with them for dinner!! I know this is an a list pizza place and if I lived in a rural town in Texas I would have taken a plane here!! We had to wait a while for the pizza but the waiting was worth it!! I would say the pizza is one of the top ones I have had!!

I've grew up a couple of blocks away but moved out of town about 18 years ago. You can find pizza spots every quarter mile in Brooklyn and I've tried many different spots including the few in Park Slope. Every time I visit, I literally stop here for a slice before arriving at my uncle's house. The cheese slice, square and calzone are what I normally eat. It's exactly what you would expect out of a Brooklyn pizzeria. Gio will ship out of state too. I've had this done 2 or 3 times now to get my fix in between visits. I remember stopping here for the Italian ices in the summer time as well. If you are looking for great NY Pizza, definitely stop in. I normally stop in for a pie on my way back to FL and Gio is great about getting it travel ready.

This place is classic, small, great flavor, and cheap! I had the Scicilian (sp?) cheese and it was awesome! Nice balance of sauce and cheese flavors. As a bonus the owner and other customers where super entertaining.

This is what a pizza parlor looked like when I was growing up, Basically a hole in the wall joint. The pizza takes me back to my childhood too. Great brooklyn style pizza, Thin crust, tangy sauce and fresh cheese. I will make this one of my go to pizza places. All I could say is YUM!

Luigi's is a small, old school joint, decked out with wood grain panels and a cramped smattering of tables in the back. The big guy (Luigi?) who runs the place usually dons a shower cap and is either actively buying DVD's from a wandering street vendor or providing enthusiastic commentary to a movie that's playing on the TV above the pizza counter. Younger kids usually operate the ovens. As for my favorite slice: the mozzarella is fresh and doused with some delicious garlicky olive oil, while the crust is on the thin side and just crispy enough. Without resorting to the superlatives or top 5 lists that usually crowd pizzeria reviews, I feel everyone can agree that Luigi's has great pizza, and more specifically, a top tier mozzarella slice. If you live in the South Slope/Windsor Terrace/Sunset Park area, do yourself a solid and grab a slice here.

The pizza is classic Brooklyn style pizza its Delicious. I always go for a regular and pepperoni slice. Then I walk over to Greenwood park for drinks. Greenwood Heights Cemetery is a few blocks away with a great view of the city.

A "hole-in-the-wall" pizza place with very few places to eat your slice. But what a slice. Excellent margarita pizza fresh from the oven. This is certainly a no frills place but the pizza slices are truly delicious. Thin crust was my favourite with anchovies to add a little bite. Go here if you have a craving for a great pizza but are not interested in the surroundings. Has character however and you can watch the pizzas being made from scratch including dough toss. Well worth the visit.

Ordered a large pie. Tasted like he had heated up the one sitting on his counter for the past hour. Disappointing sauce. Crust was thin though and crispy.

had pizza and a beer there on my first night out in NYC. Pizza was really really good. italien style. A lot of variations avaibale, also pasta salats and all teh other great italien stuff. a bit pricy for my thinking but as i learned cheap in NYC

Betcha the Cramdens and the Nortons got their pizza here...This ex Jersey girl has missed good pizza for years while living far far away from the City. Since family has moved to Brooklyn and I was able to visit for awhile, Pizza was continually on my mind...I don't know if it's the City Water or the double aught flour or just plain old world know-how but Luigi's Pizza absolutely ROCKS! Perfect!!!! Had a Xlg Pepperoni with fresh garlic delivered to our apartment free, fast and hot! If you're anywhere near a Luigi's, give 'em a shot. You won't be disappointed!!

Bought a couple slices of the fresh mozzarella pizza. Ate it standing outside the restaurant since it was too hot inside. The crust was thin and crunchy and the fresh mozzarella was very good. Would have had more but had to rush to go to the airport. There are pictures from the movie Big Daddy with Adam Sandler on the wall. A few of the scenes were filmed here. Doesn't make the pizza taste any better, but it's pretty cool.

...they don't exist. The special takeout deals are not being honoured according to the guy, in the photo, that grunted at me across the counter. We went elsewhere as his attitude stank. We would have been happy to pay the extra otherwise.

I love pizza, and after Naples, NYC probably has the best variations. My New York food was focussed on finding the best slice, Luigi’s is one of the best anywhere. There may be a bit of a queue, but it’s worth the wait. If you need to make a detour to visit you definitely should. Only place I had to go back to again and again on my trip, and already organised another trip to show the family exactly what I was talking about,

We went a long way out of our way to go to Luigi’s and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The pizza was delicious. Even got to meet Geo himself. Definitely recommend a visit. They are increasing the size of the store which will hopefully mean more space to eat in.

Dropped in a couple of times for a slice (or two). Excellent flavors, lovely people and somewhere to sit and enjoy an authentic NY pizza. Don't miss it if your anywhere near Brooklyn.

Ordered a Grandma pie. Got it fast me easy. Brooklyn style. Only $20! Brooklyn style again! The pie crust was very hard but the souse was delicious. They out Parmesan on top. Overall, in the ultra competitive NYC pizza market, I would give it 4.3-4.5 out of 5. Not bad for the neighborhood but the blue chip of NYC elite pizza league in my opinion. Go there and see if you prove me wrong. But that’s as honest as I can get.

I'm no expert on pizza, in fact I know almost nothing but for what it's worth it was the best pizza I have ever had in my life I literally couldn't believe what I was eating, and the shops pretty cool too. Very authentic, very Brooklyn.

The most amazing pizza we have ever tasted in our lives! It was our first New York pizza and we did not find anywhere that came close to it.

Place was a tad crazy since Portnoy reviewed last week. Phone ringing constantly. Hardly any slices ready to just grab. They are not making any calzones or sausage rolls right now. Ordered a pie with garlic, meatballs, mushrooms, peppers and onions. Solid pie ! Nice people.

My sister and I were about to embark on the trolley tour of Green-Wood Cemetery. We were hungry and know that NYC has great pizza and this usually can also be said about Brooklyn. We saw Luigi's and went inside. There is a small clean eating area in the back. We each got 2 slices and fountain sodas and it cost $13. The pizza was delicious and the guy behind the counter was pleasant and very efficient. I would go back to Luigi's again!

Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I always stop by for a slice. This tiny old fashioned pizzeria has the best pizza. No frills not many choices, just great Brooklyn style pizza.

Wow! so glad we were on Levy's tours and they brought us here! Best Pizza I have ever had! Authentic NYC Pizza! sooo good!!

Loved this place. Picked up Grandma Pizza and Meatball pizza for a family movie night while visiting our son and daughter-in-law in Brooklyn. We had the Grandma and Meatball pizzas. The pizza was delicious and great conversation with Giovanni. Very welcoming to non New Yorkers! We loved the photos on the wall!

A very tiny place for a great pizza experience. You can see the owner making the pizzas himself. Magic. There are only a few small tables at the back, so be ready to have to wait. It's worth it.

Stayed nearby at an air b&B and was referred to this place. Basically a hole in the wall take out place selling a wide variety of pizza by the slice. We had a sampling of their fair and had no complaints. I'm not so sure I'd go out of my way to eat here but it was good.

As a pizza lover I managed to convince my g/f to go all the way to Greenwood cemetery park where Luigi's is located as I was determined to visit an authentic NY pizzeria. It is definitely one of the best slices in NY and even though Gio (the owner) was very grumpy that day I loved the place for it's quiet vibe and the people for their originality. It is what it is and doesn't pretend to be something else. It really is a place where locals have their pizza and they all know each other. Etiquette tips for Europeans: 1. Don't ask for the bill, you pay before you leave (I could tell they were about to tell me off when I did, but they just said nothing XD) 2. Return your tray at the counter

I spent 4 days in NYC, Brooklyn and Jersey City. Luigi’s had the best pizza we had the whole trip. Small place with big flavor. I can’t wait to go back!

We came across this pizzeria by chance while walking near Coney Island/Brighton Beach... And we were not disappointed. The pizzas were very good and a wide choice (despite our meat-free diet). The welcome and service was top notch. No regrets for having “pushed the door” of this establishment 👍🏻

Was lazy and bought pizza to have in hotel room, was a hugh pizza and plenty of topping. Freshly made in front of us, Mmmmmm was yum!

Went to NYC for a quick vaction this place has some of the best pizza I've ever had! If you go make sure to try the Sicilian and the fresh mozzarela slices! Also relatively inexpensive and quick. I wish we had pizza like this in oklahoma!

Warm, authentic, and unforgettable. I had a fantastic experience at Luigi’s. Gio and his family treat you like you’re one of their own from the moment you walk in. The pizza was outstanding, truly some of the best I’ve had in Brooklyn. What made the evening even more special was the hospitality. Gio’s sister invited me back to the kitchen, where we sampled their fresh sauce, homemade sausage, and bread right out of the oven. What stayed with me most was hearing Gio speak about his father, Luigi, with such love and affection. It’s clear he’s carrying on a family tradition with real pride. This place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a labor of love and a legacy being honored every day. It felt less like dining out and more like being welcomed into a family home. Highly recommend.

Great old school NY pizza joint. The pizza is incredible and the owner is a great guy to talk with while you’re scarfing down a slice. Highly recommend stopping here for a slice! Get out of all the touristy spots in Manhattan and come to Brooklyn!!

We came because Portnoy highly rated this place This pizza is good but not in the top five. The crust is one of the best we have ever had but many places do better, especially in Brooklyn We got a table fortunately since there are not many Did not care for the attitude of the owner. He was not welcoming and a bit rude.

I live in Jersey and after my annual trip to Mount St. Mary’s in Queens we always stop for Brooklyn pizza. This year we decided to try Luigi’s in Park Slope. Pizza is EXCELLENT! Dough is nice and thin, sauce is outrageous, and the cheese is just right! Can’t wait to go back!

Old School pizzeria in Brooklyn NY. Only the highest quality ingredients are used here. Pizzas are flavorful and made fresh daily! Gio the owner is very hospitable and appreciates his customers very much! Easy to reach from Manhattan by train. Short walk from the station in a great neighborhood. Enjoy!

If you're looking for the place where locals go to get their pizza you've found it. Luigi's is not a secret exactly but you'll find more Brooklyn people here than you will tourists. It's a throwback joint, family owned and family run since forever. The pizza stands out and is right there with Brooklyn's best. (BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF BROOKLYN'S BEST) You can't make a wrong move here but the grandma pie and the fresh mozzarella pie are outstanding. If you're in the Park Slope / Sunset Park / Greenwood area and want Brooklyn pizza this the move to make. Just keep quiet about it .. ;-)

Wow!! We were wanting to try pizza in America and were told Brooklyn was the place to try it, we were not disappointed. My husband got takeaway and bought it back for us. When asked what he wanted top order he replied with "what do you suggest for our first pizza in America" The man made us a half and half pizza and it was delicious. Nice and simple and it filled the four of us up. Definitely worth a visit for some delicious pizza!

I would have rated it 5 out of 5, but they gave me Sicilian slices instead of regular. They were excellent. More then 1 Luigi's on 4th Ave in Brooklyn, make sure you go to the right one
Owner has a Big Heart!
We traveled from northern Maine to attend a local family celebration. Originally from Brooklyn (Greenpoint) I have not had good pizza in decades. Ordered two slices to share with my wife and we were convinced to order a whole pie to go! Nothing fancy, but great tasting pizza. Specialty sandwiches looked and smelled good as well. A few tables in the back. The owner was a sweetheart. I highly recommend the place. Time capsule from the 1970's.
