When we visit our kids in Houston, we now have established a tradition of going to Lupe Tortilla for either lunch or dinner. Typically, the wait is very reasonable, the service has always been above expectations and the quality of food is always fresh, hot and delicious! I would recommend the Chili for something that is not typically ordered from the menu! Plenty of food and very tasty! They serve salsa along with hot beans with their delicious thin tortilla chips...enchiladas, burritos or whatever we’ve ordered has never disappointed! On another note, though very busy during peak hours, their service is consistently good.

Their Salmon tacos was to die for. It comes with Rice, 2 big pieces of Salmon, sauces and chips and dip.All for 22 bucks.I had carry out and service was excellent. Server Yugbhai was very caring and their men is excellent and tasty.

This place used to have pretty good food about 10 years ago Although there is a debate in Houston about who has the better Fajitas I would say they're a pretty good I would say the for heating me over all is not of high grade but it seems like they tenderize the meat pretty well I think this location is known for their margherita's in their happy hour It has a playground on the property for little kids and also an outside decking and main bar although the bar is not very big there's plenty of seating outside this seems to me like more of a family restaurant if you have younger kids it Would-be a nice place to go I think the average of 4 people if you order for heroes except or ex cetera you a poly be spending anywhere from $45 to $65 for dinner On average

Such good food, cool eclectic interior, good overall vibe to the restaurant and excellent, quick service. Would highly recommend, and visit every time I’m in Houston. Worth a visit.

We had a party of 4 and arrived after work, close to opening time of 5pm. A line formed quickly. We had a great seat and a very attentive server. The sangria was perfect as we waited on our dishes. I had a combo enchilada platter, YUM!!! I would highly recommend Lupe's, and will definitely be back when in Houston.

Someone recommended Lupe to me today as one of their favorite Mexican restaurants in Houston. I just finished eating dinner there and I must agree; it was excellent! I ate at the Southwest Freeway location on the deck. I got the crab avocado enchiladas and they were amazing. Since it was my first time at Lupe’s Pablo brought me a taste of their beef fajitas, which were also amazing! I recommend this place.

Superb tex/mex. Definitely First Tier quality. Very fresh. Superb Carne Asada (beef) Fajitas or steaks. I had a cheese enchilada with chile Ancho sauce and a puffy beef taco. The Taco was huge. The cheese enchilada was as good as I have had anywhere in Austin or San Antonio. The white bean salsa served hot to dip nachito's in for free appetizers was superb with very thin tortilla chips. (Nachitos). The pico de gallo great. The rice and beans were as good as I have ever had or maybe the rice was the best I have had anywhere. This place is definitely worth seeking out and better than Papasito's for less money with huge portions. We went on the Sat night after turkey day and were seated as a party of 6 very rapidly. Kudos. The male waiter was gem and did a superb job. Although setting outside on I 10 with the freeway noise loud, it did not diminish the great seating outdoors. Order the puffy taco on a corn tortilla as mine suprisedly was served on flour tortilla but was still great. The taco alone was a meal with huge amounts of beef filling.

Good jalapeño chicken - I was told the red & green jalapeños were hot, and they were great. Some torque but not too hot to eat. The cheese was a perfect combination. Great guacamole

Get the carne asada. It is to die for! Always love their chips and salsa and great food and service. Fun relaxing atmosphere. There are several locations and I've been to the ones in the Heights, off I-10, and the original one off I-10 near Hwy 6. I highly recommend going to the original one! Very nice seating areas outside, inside, and in between.

We began our Lupe experience in 1988 at this (the original) location. Since moving to Sugar Land 18 years ago, we rarely eat at this location. My husband and I both ordered Chicken Lupe. I am happy to report that we were not disappointed.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Our four year old enjoyed the sand pit/pile, and the food was excellent. I loved the gluten free corn tortillas!!

We are there at least 4 times if we re in Houston for a wek or more, great light lunch menu, that is still a large prtion, best margaritas we have had (on the rocks) Great staff, childrens play area, always busy so you may have to wait for a table but well worth it

We are frequent visitors to Lupe Tortilla. This is our second and potentially last visit to this particular Lupe Tortilla on Stafford St in Houston. I am extremely disappointed with the “shrinkflation” at this specific location. I ordered the combo fajitas and the fajita plate was only slightly larger than the small rice dish. It was NOT worth $24.95! For reference, the Lupe Tortilla in Westlake does NOT have this “shirnkflation” problem…

Best fajitas in Houston. Excellent food + superb customer service. I had an order to go; two managers came up to make sure all was good. Do yourself a favor and eat at the original Lupe Tortilla's.

One of our favorite Houston restaurants. We love the menu, And the Food is delicious. Our server was excellent and very attentive. The restaurant was full so it was quite noisy, we were able to talk and visit without any problem.

I guess Lupe Tortilla became an upscale tex mex place? Their food is delicious: their giant tortillas, the bean and chips, the mahi mahi, the corn on the cob, and the tres leches cake. I have heard their carne is also good as well as the tortilla soup. Come prepared to spend about 2x or 3x more than you would at any other Mexican place.

Thanks to fellow TAers for the solid recommendation, which led us to Lupe Tortilla’s. It was a busy midweek evening, but we still were able to find parking and were quickly seated. The restaurant is quite bigger than it appears, with indoor and outdoor seating, and even a child play area. Our custom cocktails suggested by Luis, our attentive server, were a great start. The “Noche es la Noche” packs a flavorful punch, and the Sangria floater on the frozen margarita distinguished it from the run-of-the-mill variety. We chose the spicy chicken enchilada and combo meals and shared the street corn side. All were flavorful and traditionally prepared. We’ll be back for dessert!

Nice mexicain restaurant serving traditional food but not exceptional. Cocktails are good and an excellent reason to go there.

Staying down the road and we thought we would try this restaurant based on the good reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was fun and you could sit inside or outside. We went on a Wednesday night and they had happy hour 1/2 price drinks but only at the bar. Upon arrival we were given complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip which was all very yummy. We had the Nacho’s which were so tasty, it didn’t come with sour cream but you can buy it as a side. My daughter had the kids beef taco and said it was the best she had ever tasted. The prices are fair and for the quality and taste it is worth it. Best Mexican we have had and my son wants to come back again!!! Go if your in the area. Plenty of parking around the restaurant although it does it full you will be able to park along the streets.

Our group had a first time visitor to Texas, and we had one shot to show him true good TexMex. Lupe Tortilla’s was recommended, and we’re so glad we went! Alongside the first timer we also had several life long Houstonians who also enjoyed their meal. Our server, Chris, was southern hospitals at its best. The food was excellent but what stood out most was the visit to the table from the owner/chef. He gave a taste of beef fajitas on their flour tortillas and told us a bit about the restaurant. The flour tortillas are so thin and tasty, and the corn are good too. We enjoyed queso, guacamole, tacos, and the star of the meal - beef fajitas. We’ll be going back!

My favorite part of Lupe Tortillas is the charro beans that they serve with the chips. The food is good, but not the best Tex-Mex I’ve ever had. I believe it’s expensive for what you get. The ambiance is great.

Me and my family all love Lupe Tortillas, we have been going here for years and it is yet to disappoint us. The food is great, the Margaritas are great, the complimentary chips and salsa are great, and the service is impeccable. My family always orders chicken fajitas for 4 with, but last time we went there we also ordered veggie quesadillas, they were not as tasty as I expected wich is why I am going to have to take off one of their stars. If you want a filling, quick, and delicious meal then you must come to the best Tex-Mex in town. LUPE TORTILLAS. Happy Dining 🌮!

We went to eat on a Thursday evening. It was busy, but after a short wait we were seated. Welcoming environment, delicious food, and excellent wait staff! Would definitely eat here again and recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and great ambiance!

I love the atmosphere in this restaurant but the starter was larger than the main and both dishes were lacklustre and dull. Not as good as it used to be a few years ago.

A Disheartening End to 18 Years of Loyalty I’m utterly disappointed and shocked by the way we’ve been treated by Lupe Tortilla, a place we’ve been loyal to for 18 years. For nearly two decades, my family and I have dined here regularly, always supporting the restaurant and recommending it to friends and family. We’ve shared countless meals, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions at this establishment. However, after all these years, we’ve been told that we are no longer welcome. No attempt to understand the situation. Just a cold “you are not allowed to dine here anymore” message delivered by the associate manager. This is not how you treat regular customers who have supported your business through thick and thin. It’s heartbreaking to see a place that once felt like home turn its back on loyal patrons with no regard for the relationship we’ve built over the years. I would never expect to be treated like this by a business I’ve supported for so long. I can’t speak to what caused this sudden, inexplicable decision, but it’s hard to imagine ever recommending Lupe Tortilla again after this experience. A shame, really. It’s a loss for both the restaurant and its customers.

Their food is outstanding and very fresh. There was not one thing I didn’t like. The queso without question is a must. Good eats and well worth it!

Was recommended this place while on a business trip and this place was great. Loved the atmosphere. Food and drinks were good too. Would love to come back again.

Margaritas very good. Shared our meal, plenty of food. Chips and salsa home made. Pleasant atmosphere, loud environment, could still have conversation

NEW Reebz ees muy bueno. Seriously, there isn't anything or anyone here that we don't like. Everyone works together to be sure things go smoothly for the customer. Go there a few times and they remember you and your order, so if you want something other than your usual, give them a heads up. If you're lucky enough to work in the old Amoco West Lake Complex, there's a trolley that will pick up/dropoff door-to-door.

Best fajitas in Houston. Tex-Mex classics throughout the menu but the fajitas are the star on the menu. Tender and with lots of flavor. I understand the marinade is with Tequila. Regardless of the veracity of that the beef fajitas are tender and well seasoned. The Margaritas are made with fresh squeezed lime juice. Chips and salsa has an added bonus -- a bowl of beans in addition to salsa. Always wonderful.

I've been here twice. First was 3 yes ago and 2nd time was last month. I have tried mexican restaurants in between and I'd say- by far, still the best mexican restaurant for me. Would definitely back if I'm in town again.

Gourmet Tex-Mex restaurant. Simply the best food ever. If you don't eat here, you are missing out. This original location run by Stan Holt is the top place in the city. I dream about this food. When I travel, it's the first place I go when I return. Five stars isn't enough. It's way better than that.

Visited Lupe’s with 6 colleagues and no reservation. The welcoming staff was initially unsure if she could accommodate us but a few minutes later we were seated, provided with nachos and drinks. We had 3lb of mixed fajitas (beef, chicken and shrimp) which was more than enough, in fact there was much left over. Thanks Lupe Tortilla.

Food was amazing! Quick and the server, Jarred, was on top of things and super friendly! Manager came and checked on us and was super nice too! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Lupe's catered our work event and it was delicious, plentiful and everyone took some home because it was so good!!

Situated in a business park, it looks like the original structure was continually expanded as its popularity grew making it a set of connected “rooms” rather than 1 big space. Typical Tex-Mex food served was good and service was good too

The food is good and the margaritas are good, but not worth the grief of dealing with a rude drunk owner.

In Houston for 48 short hours but made sure to go back here for Steak fajitas. The meat is as tender and tasty as anywhere I have ever been. Literally melts in your mouth. All the sides are extremely fresh. My margarita with sangria swirl through it never disappoints!!! Great atmosphere ! Great staff!!

Visited as a family on a visit to Houston. Actually our last night with the family before we flew off. Not being used to Mexican food it was quite an adventure for the two of us. On family recommendation we had beef frajitas (I think) but whatever they were tender & delicious. Good atmosphere, tasty food and reasonable prices must this a memorable night.

Went for dinner on a Friday night and just beat the rush. Great service. Food was very good and served quickly.

It had been 25 years since we've been to this particular Lupe's location with our now grown kids. Brought our young grandsons here while having babysitting duty. We sat in the room right next to and convenient access to the small playground. I remember the play area being much bigger, 25 years ago and the restaurant much smaller!. We enjoyed our margaritas and nachos while watching the kids play. Our server was very attentive to all of the parents toting children. It's much appreciated to get the food out quick when you are dealing with young ones or at least get those Margaritas out quick for the adults! We arrived at 530pm and it was not crowded yet but by 6:30pm on Friday night, most tables were full.

Amazing night in Houston and the food capped it off. This place has the best fajitas I have ever tasted. The atmosphere was great - we sat outside. Wait staff was amazing and kept us happy. Must visit.

After driving eight hours, this is what I wanted for my birthday dinner. I would do it all over again. If you’re in Houston you gotta go here. We make it a point to come here when we are in area. Chicken fajitas for sure. Highly recommend. Will go back more and more. God bless.

I've never had such a great tasting corn tortilla. I would love to replicate at home but I don't have a clue. This place is a little pricey for my Senior citizen budget but I go whenever I can!! I visited the Allen, TX site.

We had dinner here last night & were delighted by the quality of the food, the margaritas, the decor and most of all our margarita knowledgeable server, Chris. We wanted to try this restaurant 2 years ago but it was too busy and you can’t make reservations. So we went early - 5:30ish. Lots of space but it filled up rapidly. Go early or late.

Be prepared for a very long wait. This is an extremely popular restaurant. We sat in the bar and had chips, salsa and cold beers and waited at least an hour. Unfortunately our table was near the "sandbox" a place where the children can play and the noise level from screaming children made for an uncomfortable dinner. Unless you have kids you want to keep an eye on, avoid this location at all costs! Food on the other hand was delicious! I ordered the fajitas, my wife had Chile rellenos. Others in our party had various dishes and all proclaimed the food to be wonderful.

Fantastic fajitas!! The beef fajitas are wonderful and do succulent. Great happy hour beer prices on many specialty draft beers. Hope to go back here again!

I came here four years ago and still remember the great meal, so when in Houston this time (2018), I had to return. The fajitas do not disappoint. loads of food, and all tastes great. Service was wonderful too.

This restaurant is insane on their prices. Food is fair. During happy hour they charged me 10.99 for a tiny margarita. I wanted to just purchase 1 taco and they said they don't have anything all la carte. So at 3:30 during happy hour I paid $22.00 for one taco and a margarita. I won't be back. That's double or triple restaurants in my area.

Great as Always, fresh made tortillas. The Hach queso appetizer. Service on point as always. Really enjoy it every time we visit.

Was brought here by a business colleague. We shared 4 platters between 6 of us and loads left over. The overall ambiance was great, very authentic and the service wonderful and friendly.

This place was great - Food was delish! They have an entire vegetarian menu upon request and its not just the usual food with the meat taken out, its amazing dishes that stand up on their own and were wonderful. Food was really delicious and not swimming in cheese or sauces so you could really taste how wonderful it was. Staff was amazing - our waitress Dani was so nice and attentive and really a lot of fun.

We eat here every time we come to Houston. And we always have the beef fajitas! They are tenderized and marinated in lime. The taste is straight up ridiculous. You dream of these for days afterwards. Do yourself a favor... get some!

My partner had the Poblano Chicken and I had the tortilla soup. Both were the best, though that doesn’t sound grammatically possible. However the fact is the food here is a delight, as are the servers and the rest of the staff. A well deserved 5 stars.

We ate at this Lupe’s location because we were shopping in the area. The food was delicious, albeit expensive. We had the fajitas which were marinated in their special recipe and served with fresh grilled sides and delicious homemade tortillas! The owner/chef spent time with us at our table and made us feel special and welcome. I would definitely go back!

We've been here many times in the last two years and there are many delicious dishes. We love the chips and salsa, the beef fajitas, the Tortilla soup, the White Bean Chicken Chili soup, Tequila Chicken and the Fajita Nachos. Also India is the best waiter ever. Very attentive and orders always accurate. Enjoy!

Service was good, food ok, my daughter seemed to like the meat, but my sons didn't. Tortilla soup was not too bad, but not great. Overall ok, but will not come back

Stopped in for lunch today for the first time. The waiter was a very nice young man who is a transplant from Dallas. We got our drink and chips/salsa. The salsa has a weird taste maybe cumin, why? And why do you get ranchero beans with salsa and chips? The chips were nice and thin. We ordered mixed chicken and beef fajitas and beef fajitas. Both orders were cooked properly and came out in a timely manner. For 22.95 each dish I would expect the portion size to be larger. Los Cucos and Chuys give double the portion size for 8$ less. The corn tortillas were nice and fresh. With the bang for your buck lacking here I don't think we will be back.

Food is always very good. We love the beef fajitas and the nachos which are always delicious. The food is not cheap but you can't fault the quality and the service. They have also made it VERY easy to collect take out food at the moment which is very welcome.

I have been going to Lupe Tortilla's for years. It started out as a single family dwelling which has grown semi-organiclally for years. What has not changed is the quality of their food, it is fantastic. Hidden if you don't know it is there. No reservations, but a bar while you wait if you wish.

Great Food and awesome place! Staff and managers were great and did everything to meet out needs since it was our first visit!

This was the first time visiting Lupe Tortilla and was not disappointed. The tortillas were like the ones my mom would make (excellent). The food was incredible! Left there wanting more.

I grew up in North Houston, I wont say how long ago that was but I graduated high school back in 82. Professionally I have traveled the world and have been in and out of Houston for business and to visit family so its great to see that Lupe's has been around a while. My wife and I ate here with some friends when they were just starting out, it was great then and its great now. I was flying solo so I sat in the bar and watched the Astro's, had a margarita and enjoyed some chips and salsa. I ended up ordering the Steak Lupe for the main, it had great flavor, was very tender and was a pretty healthy portion. I could have easily split this with my wife had she been there, I am kind of glad she wasn't more for me. The food was outstanding but I love the atmosphere and the great feel at the bar. The Service was excellent and attentive. You could tell these guys know what they are doing.

Although there are now several Lupe’s in Houston, this is the original. I used to eat lunch here 20+ years ago. Since then, they’ve added a sand-lot playground for kids and a lot of things to the menu. The fun begins when you first walk in and see a sign that says, “If you’re in a hurry, please come back when you’re not.” It continues on the menu with notations such as, “Ees preety good.” The atmosphere is almost party-like, fiesta-like I should say. Music, laughter. After years of absence, my wife and I went there recently for dinner. My mistake was trying things I’d never eaten there before. When I asked our waiter about a “new” item, chicken chili, he recommended the taco soup. I should have taken the hint. It wasn’t what I’d call chili and was, in fact, a chicken soup that was merely okay. I then tried the vegetarian “Red or green cheese enchiladas.” Another mistake. They were bland and drowning in sauce. On the flip side, my wife enjoyed her spinach and artichoke enchiladas. AND their margaritas were great, better and larger than I remembered from the distant past. Take home lesson: watch your waiter’s eyes when you ask about a dish. Our waiter, incidentally, was excellent. Attentive and helpful (if only I hadn’t been stubborn in my choices). While this latest experience was less than stellar for us, there are many more dishes that you don’t find on the menus of other Tex-Mex restaurants. We will definitely go back to try some of them.

Had a grea lunch quick with colleagues there. The beef and sides were excellent and filling. The refried beans and rice were very tasty and the perfect complement to make-you-own burritos

A friend recommended this place and I am still thankful. He didn't exaggerate when he said this restaurant had the best steak fajitas. I asked for carry-out, was planning to eat just a little, but almost finished the tacos. Good thing they also included rice, beans and chips (for the next day). The "hot" sauce wasn't too spicy, but I also asked for roasted jalapenos (or chiles toreados) which were great. Good size portions and highly recommendable!

I always meet my friends here for a great Mexican lunch. My favorite is the poblano chicken and love their beans and salsa that comes with the chips. My family loves to eat here as well but we have a drive to get to the nearest location. Give it a try😀😀😀

Was in town for short business trip and had an opportunity to have dinner with an old friend. Had the Beef fajitas for two and a few margaritas. The food was great, especially the lime marinated beef and thin flour tortillas. It is a little pricey. We had a lot of leftovers.

I’m in Houston often to visit family and we eat at a lot of Mexican and TexMex restaurants. Lupe is our favorite... their steak fajitas cannot be beat. The marinade is delicious and the steak is never chewy. A strong recommendation for this restaurant in a town where the bar is set high

I was not impressed, I don't eat meat or dairy and there was a limited menu. The beans had bacon and most dishes had lots of cheese. I would not return.

I was very surprised at having a 30 minute wait for a table at 9PM but the atmosphere was very upbeat & made it worth the wait. I started with a mango-rita that was excellent! We had the tableside guacamole that was delicious along with the very light crunchy chips. We decided to split to chicken soft tacos & carnita tacos. The chicken tacos were more of an enchilada & different tasting than others I had before but very tasty- the rice & refried beans were average. The carnita tacos were disappointing as they were basically shells filled with lettuce & very few pieces of pork.If you want atmosphere for a late dinner its great. I thought it was mostly average.

We sort of ran into this place looking for something close to our hotel. Very fun atmosphere, great food, and service. The chicken enchiladas and tacos were our favorites. Also liked the salsa they bring with the chips, which is more of what you see in Mexico -- chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. Sangria is muy Bueno too. Nestled in a grove of huge old trees, you'd never know it is right off the interstate. Definitely recommend it and will go again when in the area.

While there was a bit of a wait to be seated, the food was worth the wait! The tacos were very tasty and very filling! The sandpit to the front of the restaurant had a lot of kids in it playing while their parents looked on from the front of the restaurant. Overall it was a good experience!

To us this is the best Mexican place in the whole area. One of the best I’ve been to in my lifetime. Fresh homemade tortillas, and grilled fajitas are the thing to get. I’ve been coming here for years. We make special trips to Houston just to come here. God bless this establishment and I would highly recommend.

I have eaten at this restaurant dozens of times over the last 15 years and I have always enjoyed each meal. However about a week ago, my wife and I decided to order something different than what we usually order. We decided to try the quesadillas with chicken fajita. The chicken fajita part was as always delicious. However, there was very little cheese and no sauteed onions or maybe poblano peppers on the quesadillas. The quesadilla was very dry and I would never order this menu item again.

YUM… the smells of Lupe Tortilla You all know it’s a must try right because you HAVE TO GO THERE no excuses it’s delicious I go there all the time you can never argue with the cheesy quesadillas or resist there fresh fajitas so if you come down to Houston make a stop a Lupe no excuses

Let’s face it there’s nothing fancy about Lupe, but that’s not where you go there… The margaritas and fajitas are consistently good and that’s why we keep coming back on almost every visit.

Great food. I had Mixed Grill plate and I cannot say enough about the flavor and the presentation. Big restaurant has plenty of seating. I was a little concerned because one reviewer said it was in a sketchy area and he had had his car broken into while dining at restaurant. Never saw or heard anything like that while we were there

place is loud. You are not having a conversation. The food is great. The service is excellent. We were a group of 32 and they handled us well. I got puff tacos. They were good but needed salt. There is none on the tables.

Was not crowded for lunch and we were seated immediately. The free tortilla chips were fresh and salsa was flavorful. The margaritas were good too. All of the food was good. 18% Gratuity was automatically added for our party of 6.

We were a business group of 14 for dinner. Luckily we booked ahead even though it was a Tuesday evening. Everything from drinks to appetizers to mains was cooked to perfection with copious amounts of food. I had the 3-pepper steak and it was fantastic. Lots of heat and lots of flavor. No one left hungry but all left happy!

Had the 3 pepper steak, had the right amount of spicy and was delicious! The fajitas were also amazing! It seemed like everything that came out of the kitchen looked delicious and others were making comments on how good it was. The tortillas are delightful! Fun atmosphere, works for groups, families , really anyone. The service was fast and good. The staff really looked out for each other and ensured that the patrons were taken care of.

Mexican style restaurant occupying what seems like a haphazard arrangement of interconnected shacks. Place was bustling midweek, with the bar very boisterous due to a World Series game in progress. I was able to get seated within a few minutes even though it was crowded. The basket of tortilla chips came with a nice home made salsa. I had a pair of chicken enchiladas with a large roasted hot red pepper. It was spicy but good. Service was sincere and prices were reasonable.

Use to be good but now over priced the beans have no flavor but At least it's better than papasetos but around the same pice

If you are from San Antonio don't eat here thinking it will be like home. Service was good but the food was really over rated. Maybe I ordered the wrong meal but non the less it should not have been so bad. I ordered the pepper chicken, it was over cooked and super dry! The rice was hard as if it was heated up in the oven and the tortillas were flat and undercooked! I was very unhappy with this meal! I would have returned it but was my family on vacation and did not want to make anyone wait while I waited for another meal to be prepared. OVER RATED AND OVER PRICED!

Good food and a great atmosphere. Easy access and we got a table right away. Has not change in 30 years it was good then and is still good. Worth the trip.

This was quite possibly the best Mexican my family and I have ever eaten. The food was fresh and made to order. I got the fish tacos and the tortillas were homemade and excellent. The prices were affordable and, considering what you get, extremely reasonable. Our server, Tiffany, was exceptional. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. We only had one night in Houston and I am so glad we found Lupe Tortillas! If we are ever in Houston again, we will definitely return. I wish we could take it back home to the Ozarks with us!

I eat here any time I get the chance, especially when someone else is paying! I love the chips and beans and usually fill up on those before my meal comes, which is unfortunate because the fajita beef is so perfectly seasoned and delicious. The food is a little bit pricey but it’s worth it!

This was the best Mexican food I've had since living in Texas. The salsa and chips are great. I had the steak fajitas and they were wonderful. My family loved the food. Service was mediocre, nothing spectacular. The dinner went smoothly and all was well, until after we left. My husband said there was a humongous cockroach on the wall behind the baby's seat after I moved her. We also found one in our hotel later that night and we figured it hitchhiked from the restaurant in the diaper bag because the hotel was immaculately cleaned with no signs of bugs. All in all though, not unusual to see a roach in Houston. Still enjoyed the food and I'd recommend others to try it.

Really good Tex-Mex food .. great location and excellent wait staff. What really sent it over the top was the kiddie area.. a sandbox with slides, jungle gym.. etc. That really takes the edge off young families with kids. Hurrah ! what a great idea.. good food, good margaritas and a good time for the little ones..

When you are seated 2 people greet you and 1 is your waiter. We came for lunch. I had fish tacos. Best fish tacos I’ve ever had. I haven’t eaten REAL Tex/Mex in so long and this place is amazing. Everything is made fresh everyday. They hand make the Tortillas… oh my!!! Those fish tacos had big chunks of avocado and sweet mango sauce and the fish is cooked in garlic butter…amazing!!! Fantastic!!!

This was the family's visit to TX and a few folks recommended this spot so we figured we couldn't go wrong. The place is not well lit at all in the area by the bar. The margarita was on point and the service was great. But the food. The food had little flavor, was extremely over cooked and overpriced (even for shrimp and lobster). We were looking for some authentic Mexican cuisine even if it had a TexMex touch but this was a hit and miss. I don't even know what else to say...

We have been eating there for along time. And it seems like they are going down hill. Its getting bad the food is good. But it dose not matter if you your service is bad. About 50/50 if you find a waiter or waitress thats good. Food is not cheep for that price you should get good service, or should I say get some kind of service. When they don't come back to check on you.

Lupes is ok for Tex Mex. The fajitas seem better than most Tex Mex places. Sand box and bar make it convenient for families with kids if there is a wait. Not even close to real Mexican food though but people seem to love it.

Well worth finding. Tucked away on side street Awesome service atmosphere and food I will be back I had caso tacos enchiladas

There are plenty of Mexican restaurants and plenty of other locations for Lupe Tortillas That said .. it's tough to beat the first location Service is good, the atmosphere is pleasant and there is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is really varied and there is something for everyone's taste. Chips are wonderful and the sauces good as well. We all ended up with some variation on enchiladas and no one had any complaints. This is a great place to eat

Traveling for work and this was a restaurant recommended by hotel staff. I am so glad they did. Had a fantastic meal! The chicken/beef charons were amazing! The chips and salsa also came with a bean dip, which was very tasty. Service was very good. I would definitely go back if I’m in the area again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent, the margaritas great and the food delicious. What more can you ask for?

We ate here with a group of 7 people on a Friday evening at 4:30 after a day at Johnson Space Center. There was no wait. By the time we left the line was out the door. They bring salsa and beans to the table with chips. All are awesome! The salsa is made with roasted tomatoes and has a little smokey flavor. Yum! We ordered beef fajitas which were sold by the pound. Two of us split 1/2 pound and it was a good amount for us. If you have a large appetite you may want a whole pound. The flour tortillas are made fresh, delicious and huge! The fajitas came with 3 tortillas. The guacamole was great! The beef was super moist. The only thing we didn’t love was that it has a lime flavor. If you don’t like lime you might ask if they have any without. We ordered queso for the table and it was perfect. All in all, we would definitely go back.

Worth the wait for a great Mexican meal. This restaurant was right beside our hotel and came highly recommended. Excellent service and menu choices make this a great choice. We did have to wait 30 minutes however. But it was worth it.

lazy sunday dinner: while visiting town i had a dinner sitting at the bar. I asked for a beef Fajita. almost everything else tasted great except my fajita was a bit burned. it may be that second tier chef was cooking and the chef was off sunday a relatively slow day for the Lupe. i was disappointed did not want to complain and raise my blood pressure. enjoyed the margaritas and left. I like Lupe Tortilla and each time until this visit i had nothing but great things to say. i recommend for anyone who wants a real TEXMEX to visit here.

I dream of their three pepper steak. We have moved from the area, but when we return, my first stop is Lupe's. Their skirt steak is so tender, I will never use flank steak at home again. Just had last week, and I have already searched the Internet for the recipe so I can recreate at home. By far my favorite tex-mex place in Houston.

Visiting Houston on labor day weeken so we were passing by and decided to give this place a try, boy we were glad we did the food was delicious and the waiter very nice and knowledgeable of the menu we would definitely go back the beef fajitas are superb and the green enchiladas delicious.

Food, service, atmosphere….all excellent! Our server, Anthony was fantastic! First time visit but we will definitely return.

The fajitas were fantastic - the half order was as much as I could handle, and I can put down some food. The complimentary chips with bean dip and salsa were top notch. They even serve a decent margarita. I highly recommend this place for Mexican food fans.....

I want to clarify the location of the review is on HW69 at Kirby. Very Very Very impressed!!!! We love this restaurant. I must note my knowledge of food and service that will back the legitimacy of my review for Lupe Tortilla. I cook at a very high level of classic Greek and Italian cuisine with natural and authentic local ingredients. I know food REAL food !!! I compare everything to my experience in restaurants in Greece and Italy. Most importantly the friendly smiles ,good social skills and happiness of staff that a restaurant should have are all on the menu at Lupe Tortilla. To readers , gift yourself a truly wonderful dining experience. Skip the high priced steakhouses, and the new trends with silly offerings and eat here. I must take my hat off to them in a post pandemic world where in my opinion all eateries went from good, okay or even more than good to horrible and horrific, but Lupe went from great to really great!!!!!!

Excellent place to spend a good time with friends have drinks and good food the happy hour was awesome and service is first class

We asked our locals where we could go for some great Tex-Mex food and they sent us to this Lupe Tortilla on our way to the airport. the food, drink and service were wonderful. Looking forward to going back on our next trip to Houston

Selected by son living in Houston who frequents. Can't go wrong with the fajitas. Also great seafood. (red snapper) Good atmosphere including accommodating families

When I come to Houston this place is on my list of "Have-to's" while I am here. The food is consistently excellent. Fresh says it all. Wonderful team and excellent service.

Traveling for work and this was my 4th visit...LOVE THIS PLACE! Delicious, guacamole, queso and the salad with chicken and the green ranch sauce is out of this world. They never disappoint and I will continue to go back as often as possible as my business travel schedule allows!

Nice atmosphere nice staff. Was told best mexican food in Houston. Not sure about that since it's the only one we ate at. Food was disapointing. Won't be back.

We have been visiting Houston for the last few years. We stay in the same location so we have passed Lupe's on the Southeast Freeway a number of times. We were on the way to the airport and finally decided to eat a late lunch at Lupe's and so glad we did. Although it did not start out well by the hostess seating us at the door w/ many tables available, that was soon rectified and it was great after that. Ricardo was our waiter along w/ others helping him. One man came out of no where and gave us a free sample, since it was out first time. This sample of beef was sooo delicious, we ended up splitting the steak fajitas. Delicious and it came w/ all of the trimmings - rice, guacamole, etc. Some places nickel and dime you for all of this. The margaritas were nice and we hit happy hour - so even better. By the time we were done, we were shaking hands w/ Ricardo. Lupe's will always be a stop for us each time we are in Houston. See you in September, cannot wait. From your new friends in Massachusetts.

Great guacamole, queso, and margarita's. Mariachis are really good singers and musicians. They took requests and were a lot of fun and they keep the chips coming.

We enjoy the red sauce and pinto beans they bring before the meal. Chips are light and crispy. I had Lupe's Chicken plate for lunch today. It is highly recommended. My wife had the pick two items and enjoyed her meal.

Very crowded 50 mon wait. Margaritas taste like water. Dont bother ordering one. Food good, servers nice but very slow.

Amazing queso! Great food and service. We visited for lunch...had huge portions. Son had mega burrito and ate it all. I enjoyed green chili chicken enchiladas. Service was friendly and very prompt. My glass never went empty. But the queso was the best!

60 plus dollars for fajitas, wtf. Cheese dip is yellow processed cheese, the bar has free cheese, beans & salsa. But they give u saucers. wtf. No bowls. Rey shallow cup saucers. Very tacky, they do this to save. But wtf. I'll never go back. That's more $$$$. Damage than freakin saucers. wtf. Tea was good, ask for sweet & low. They brought me some cheap ass Mexican sweetener. wtf. Sweet & low is a class of it own. The only other great thing was the waitress from Cuba. Did not get her name. But I hope she finds a better employment to make $$$ and provide for her family

We had lunch here for our work function. They prepared chicken/beef fajitas. It was outstanding. Their tortillas are huge!! The chips and beans was great. Loved the queso as well. This is a great place to eat.

We came here and was seated when all our party arrived. Ordered some margarita and sangria to start off first, they served some tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa. Ordered a beef and chicken fajita and fish tacos. The former was fantastic especially the tortilla wrap was incredibly soft. Ended with some churros and would definitely come back!

WOW. One of the best Tex-Mex meals I have had in years. Excellent quality and plentiful quantity. Do not miss this.

Wonderful atmosphere and charming decor, paired with excellent service. The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with a wide variety of options on the extensive menu. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious—highly recommend!

As I have mentioned, I am not particularly fond of Mexican food but guacamole and cheese enchiladas are ok. Our waiter was outstanding. The food is placed on raised racks around the table. I ordered a Jumbo gulf shrimp stuffed with crab and monterey jack cheese. It was very good. (and me being adventuresome.)

Really enjoyed our meal! The food was amazing and super fast! We misread the menu and received something other than what we expected. The manager immediately asked what could he do to make it right and went above and beyond even when it was not their fault! Give them a try! You will be pleased. Thank you Eddie! You guys are great!

Lupe Tortilla has the best beef fajitas in Houston. They are marinated, tender, and very tasty. The rest of their menu is delicious too!

I visited the restaurant in november 2016. The service was friendly and attentive. The food and drink was great. I would recommend the seafood, especially shrimp with bacon. As I visited the restaurant alone I really enjoyed the friendly athmosphere of the place. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mexican Food at an informal place.

Stopped here for dinner and was impressed with the menu and the ambiance. Extensive choice on the menu for reasonable prices. While you make the selection from the menu they will serve tortilla chips with 2 dips. The margaritas are delicious and large. Quality of the food is good and service friendly. The burrito I ordered was really good. See the picture. We will come again.

lunch was fantastic.... everything was excellently cooked, rice, beans, fajitas etc svc was a little slow but got better in time

I ate lunch here and got the off menu item of tuna tacos with black beans and rice. it was really good. They used sushi grade fish and then blackened the outside, this was some of the best I have had, I will definitely be back to this place.

Fun place with consistent good food at decent prices. I really enjoyed the shrimp and avocado campechana. Very tasty!

After reading the great reviews I had a late lunch here on Saturday 4th August. Plentiful basket of chips with salsa & beans arrived quickly after I sat down on the outside terrace. I ordered the mixed chicken & steak fajitas which were served with 3 very large homemade flour tortillas, re-fried beans and rice. Everything tasted great (as previous reviews) and I will definitely be back when in Houston to check out some of the other dishes in the menu.

Five for biz luncheon. Excellent server Raul. Enjoyed my Margherita and fajita. Well served and prompt. Out of town visitors enjoyed the unique interior room.

Had dinner at Lupe's with two native Houstonians and a coworker. First time for all of us. Fantastic service. Amazing beef fajitas! The chicken and shrimp were very good also, but the beef was the best! The surprise of the night were the AMAZING handmade corn tortillas. I don't even like corn tortillas, typically. But these were soft and tender with just a bit of sweetness. Sooooo good!! Everything we had was fantastic, including the margaritas. I will definitely be back on my next Houston trip.

We love going to Lupe tortillas about once a month. It's a great location for my family and we're able to sit outside often. There's a wonderful play area for kids that we enjoy watching even though we don't have any little ones. The staff is always nice and the food is decent. They have a pretty generous happy hour appetizer if you just need something light.

This restuarant has the best, over the moon corn tortillas I've ever eaten in my life! My family has celiac disease and can't eat wheat prouducts which means no flour tortillas with no wheat flour anything ever! We requested corn tortillas and figured we'd get plain old thin shells. To our delight that was not what was brought to us. The shells were a thick, sweet corn tasting tortilla shells. And their fajitas (beef, chicken and shrimp) were unbelievable! Oh my gosh! Amazing! Not only was our meal incredible but we didn't get sick. If you go to Houston you HAVE to eat here!

Very busy Tex-Mex restaurant with excellent service! Start off with a (couple off?) margarita while you’re looking at the menu. We had mixes fajitas but the menu offers quite an extensive choice! Lots of kids at weekends so be prepared for some noise! Food was great and service fast!

The original location, this little hidden gem had the BEST tex- mex! The margaritas are made with fresh lime juice. The fajitas are awesome!! Gets a bit crowred after 7 pm....

I consider that the good foundation of a restaurant besides the food is a good service, this is an incredible combination! A good service is what makes us feel at home and makes you want to return to share, celebrate and create unforgettable moments with the ones we love the most. I had a bad experience couple months ago in this restaurant, but I decided to give it another shot. My waiter tonight was Marco and he made my love for this restaurant to come back! Thank you Marco for your great service and for making this dinner a pleasant evening for me and my family.

Well. It was new. We came we ate. We left . This would be the Kingwood Northpark location. Stale chips. Awful salsa. Combo dinner. Enchilada tamale. Taco. Ordered a guacamole tostada a la carte. Guacamole tasted like lemon. Beans and rice. Very very average. Great service. Ambience great. Nice patio. Wouldn’t recommend nor go back. Packed with people. Not sure why…..

We really liked this place was great. Husband had one of their combo dinner, and I had crab stuffed shrimp. Had Hatch queso for appetizer, and it was really good. Service a little slow

Lupe is the real deal in Houston for Tex mex I have nerves liked beef fajitas until having them at lupe. Good service great margarita. The original. Place is the best ever

The beef fajitas are good. And the charro beans delicious. Wil be back. Corn tortillas big and plentiful. Service was good.

This is my favorite mexican restaurant I've been to in any city. Wide variety menu in fun atmosphere.

I have eaten Mexican food all over, Tex Mex, Mexican, Sonoran, etc.. This is the best I have ever had. My wife had Lupe steak that was absolutely delicious. Very tender steak. I had a steak taco salad which was huge and had a great mix if steak, lettuce, guacamole, etc... Salsa was fresh and excellent. They also serve a small bowl of beans with the chips which I loved. We were visiting an Artisan Festival on the next corner and decided to walk in. I'm very glad we did. Service was great as well. I told waiter how good everything was and he told me it was the original Lupe Tortilla's and that the owner is still very involved at that location. It shows. Great experience.

If you want authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. Everyone from the staff is very nice and helpful. They have a large selection of food and drinks. The place is great and has an outdoor patio.

This restaurant has some great Tex-Mex dishes. I highly recommend the Queso Flameado for an appetizer. Also their steak fajitas are great. Casual dining for sure.

Lupe Tortilla's original restaurant is, I understand, unchanged from the original concept. Pretty downtrodden in part (although in being so it generates a great ambiance), the quality of the food and the service are always second to none. Get there early - queuing is a nightly event at Lupe's due to its continued popularity. Once seated, you'll understand why.

My family and I met friends here for dinner. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The service was great!! Our food was delicious... and our server was a comedian! It's a wonderful restaurant and we will definitely be going back soon!!

Went to the Lupe Tortilla off of SW Freeway and it was excellent. Our server Christian was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us with some good recommendations. We both ended up getting the Tex-Mex Mixta Plate. The plate had a taco, a tamale, and an enchilada. All were outstanding. The sangria was good as well. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Thanks to TripAdvisor, my wife found this place for us to eat that was near our hotel. In business 35 years. With the chips, they brought out a bowl of salsa and a bowl of beans. Both were awesome. My wife really enjoyed the all veggie gluten-free quesadillas on corn tortillas. The guacamole was excellent. I had the 3 enchilada combo with traditional favorites: cheese with chili con carne, beef with salsa roja, and chicken with salsa verde. All were covered with a generous amount of cheese. It almost made the cheese enchilada a redundancy. We arrived around 4:45 p.m. and it didn't really get busy until we left at 5:30. Our server didn't rush us and brought out a drink refill twice before I had finished my drink. Yes, they have Diet Dr. Pepper. We talked to a native Houstonian later and she affirmed our perception.

Loved the décor and atmosphere of this place. I am vegetarian and travel solo with my young daughter. We were taken care of, and the food was amazing. I don't personally feel it was overrated at all. The food tasted homemade and was delicious. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. We waited a bit, but it didn't matter because the deck outside is fun for people watching and had plenty of options for seating.

Lupe tortilla in Cypress. Rd. Is the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. Ask for Emilee she is an awesome waiterss. The food was just outstanding.

Very good restaurant!!! Everything was so amazing! And our server was so very sweet & helpful!! A definite must!

I have been going to Lupe's for probably 25 years or more. This is the first time since inprobably a year or more since going .... I was surprised with the wonderful menu, excellent dishes, fabulous service. I was used to a B- meal where dishes all had similar taste..not this time. My wife and I split a hatch chicken with rice, beans and tortillas. Absolutely wonderful taste...hot but not too hot..delicious. The menu was very diverse and offers a real contrast and not too many dishes to be overwhelmed. Started with a few waters, a Corona Light and Lupe's chips and salsa, which was very good and distinct in taste. Beers were ice cold. There was no issue with splitting the main dish and our waitress was versed in the menu and delivered a great experience, cheerfully, with knowledge, and with many checking-up visits to the table. A real surprise and a delicious lunch. Why not 5* you wonder...my opinion is that the prices are a bit too high although this sits in an affluent area surrounded by businesses. $5.50 for a Corona seems way too high and $16 for the main dish although large enough to split seems excessive. However, since they have been there for al long time pricing probably does not matter for the area.

Wonderful food in this small but fun restaurant! Staff are really friendly (Aurea), made us feel right at home. The tamali's were outstanding along with the rest of the food - a must stop!

I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants across the country and this one stands out as one of the best, if not the best. The beef fajitas were excellent. Grande platinum margaritas "get you there" fast. Excellent guacamole and chips. Fast, efficient service. Suggested tip didn't include full cost of $9.95 grande margaritas, and I like that added touch.

Lupe's is one of my two favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston, both of which I have made a point to visit on my business trips to the Bayou City over the last decade. The restaurant building I rather like because it appears to be a converted residence with many small cozy rooms with a nice outdoor patio bar area. The layout makes for a quiet relaxing atmosphere. As I age, I seem to find loud rowdy eateries less and less appealing. But the draw here is primarily the food, which is very good. Over the years I have sampled widely from their menu and I can report that disappointments were few. In fact there was only one: their taco salad, massive but poorly balanced in its mix of ingredients. Everything else I sampled would, and probably have, ordered again. Inevitably there is always the inclination to compare Lupe's with my other favorite, Papasitos. My take away in this contest is that Lupe's beef dishes (fajitas, carne asada, etc.) have the edge. This last visit I had the Steak Lupe with its melted cheese topping was as good as ever. It was very tender with a flavorful seasoning mix and topping that has a little more intensity and spicy kick than Papa's. Head to head, I would go with beef fajitas at Lupe's, but for chicken I would opt for Papa's who does breast meat extremely well. This is not to say Lupe's chicken fajitas are to be avoided. On the contrary, I would heartily recommend them. I would especially recommend the Chicken Lupe, the Poblano Chicken and the Chicken Little all with their very tasty sauces and toppings. Choosing between these two fine restaurants is a bit of hair splitting. You can't miss with either.

We ordered Brunch Take-Out. Wow! I was very impressed. Huge servings, enough to feed 2-3 people for around $30 bucks! Tasty and fresh.

The food is Mexican but with a Tex/Mex touch. The marinade fajitas are good and if you like spice food, you need to the marinade fajitas with 3 peppers.

Very good Mexican food with a great variety to please everyone. Service was good. Seems to be a popular place for families because there is an area for kids to play outside. My only complaint is that everyone that came around the time we did all sat in the same room. Our group was the only one without kids. Made it a bit noisy.

We went to meet friends for lunch at 1:30pm not knowing that they close at 2pm. It just seemed we had to hurry. They do have a lunch menu where most of the prices are approx $8.95. Margaritas are good. House margaritas are $7.95. They have outside eating area where it is open seating. They do have a small play are for kiddos.

Best Mexican food ever! We love it! Their tortilla soup is my go to food as well as their beef fajita nachos! Skinny margaritas are great too!

The owner or manager gave our table a free sample of the beef fajitas. I would have never ordered it, but it was so delicious. I ordered it. I don’t even like steak. It was tender. The sample was medium rare. My steak was cooked a little more. I would have preferred the medium rare over the medium. The best tasting fajitas I have ever had, and I always order fajitas. They give a bean salsa. Excellent! Best beans I have ever eaten. I would not have thought to used as a salsa. I ordered a flight of seasonal margaritas. I really only liked the mango. It was very tasty. The pink grapefruit was okay. The Black Barrel was too strong for my liking. It didn’t taste like a margarita at all to me. The portions are large. You can’t go wrong eating here!

They use velveeta cheese for their enchiladas. When I spoke to the manager his excuse was it’s tex mex. I was appalled and sent it back. Kids Mac and cheese was out of a kraft box and they charged $7 for this.
Best Mexican Food
We were in Houston for a one-nighter. Had to go back to Lupe Tortilla's to get the Steak Lupe. Got there in time for happy hour. They have free chips, salsa, beans and cheese sauce. It's serve yourself until 5:15 pm when they start serving dinner. Great way to spend an afternoon/evening with free appetizers and a couple of margaritas before a delicious dinner. Whenever we are in that area of Houston, we try to stop at Lupe Tortilla's because that is the original restaurant.
