Pretty average

Ordered the fish tacos. They were OK but I think the fish was overcooked as a bit tough. Almost had the consistency of chicken!

Horrible service

By Rodolfo Z |

Horrible service, they ignore you as a customer, don’t go to this place they don’t care about you they put you in a table way back by the restrooms and nobody show up to take care of you, if you notify to the host at the entrance, they don’t answer you, they just ignore you, they have no idea of good customer service, they haven’t been trained for quality service.

They treated us very well.

By Deedoni |

We stopped at Lupi Tortilla for dinner tonight and loved it. We are visiting the area and didn't know what to expect. We were treated well by the manager and servers. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. It was definitely a great experience.

Don't Bother going here if your single female

By bridget k |

Went out for dinner by myself since I was alone on a Friday night. Sat at the bar so that I wouldn't take up a table. I timed by service because it was just 'that slow'. Everyone else around me that sat after me were served before me and then got chips and salsa before I did and without asking. I asked for chips two times and my 'female' bartender finally remembered, after I had been seated 32 minutes. The gentlemen next to me had sat after me and received drinks and chips/salsa within 5 minutes. As that wasn't bad enough, I had to ask for every single thing...ask for extra club soda, ask to order, ask for a plate, ask for the manager etc etc. It was so bad after asking for a plate so that I could actually eat my fajitas, I actually got up and walked right into the kitchen to grab one from the stack. What an AWEFUL experience. Lucas, the manager, didn't have many words to say when I gave him one example after another...just that he was sorry and can I 'buy' you a drink. I agree with the rest of the reviews that state this place has turned into a glorified 'Chilis'....what a joke. It won't be long before everyone who gets treated like I did tell everyone to stay clear of this place...the competition around The Rim is too fierce and I would rather give my money and attention to those that work to deserve it. Lupe's, you lost an important customer who has many followers on trip advisor.

Surprisingly Good

Great service and food. We normally eat closer to home but decided to give Lupe Tortilla a try. Very nice for the price.

Poor Sunday Morning Service

By David V |

Came here for breakfast on a beautiful December Sunday morning. Ordered two taco plates and waited FOREVER!! Always an excuse for drink refills although other tables were getting refills all day. Asked one of the other waiters for a refill and received a “you aren’t tipping me” look with a reluctant pour. I will never come here again. There’s way better Mexican restaurants here in San Antonio! I would have given a negative rating if the App allowed me. Just poor service overall for a Sunday morning breakfast excursion.

Great Mexicn food in the Rim

By satxdiver |

We have been here several times for lunch and dinner so this time we decided to try brunch. We arrived when they first opened at 9 AM. By the time we left an hour later the restaurant was filling up but not full. Service was a little slow due to their just opening. Our server was not ready so others filled in for her bringing our usual drinks soda and ice tea. The waitress soon appeared and took our order. I had the chilaquiles which was a bit different that I have received at other restaurants. It was served in a small skillet with roasted chicken, corn tortillas that appeared to be blue corn, guacamole, queso fresco and one fried egg with soft yoke. It was certainly different but good and would order it again. My partner had the TexasMex with carne molida, cheese, ancho chile sauce and con queso which she liked and would order it again. Both meals come with the usual beans and potatoes. Other meals we have had here were good as well so we will be back.

Food was good very pricey

By happy10yr |

The atmosphere is nice went for dinner and order the double fajitas to feed 3 people and barely feed 2 wasn’t enough meat to make 3 tacos. They were good but not for the price, more about the location I think.

Just okay.

By Amyandshaun |

The place has a cool look and we were seated quickly even on a Sunday after church. I had the chicken enchiladas, they looked great but weren’t very good. I only ate 1 of the 3 and couldn’t bring myself to even eat the leftovers at home. The salsa was good though.

Wow, pass up on IHOP and go across the street!!!

By P1520TPandrewk |

Barbacoa Benedict! Wow, my daughter took me here for the 57th!!! Man, had a great mixed drink in the morning and coffee! Yvonne fixed us up with flour and corn tortillas! This place Rocks Hard! The other places surrounding this food establishment have Much to be concerned 😦 about!!

Nope

By RomiAlyn |

Chips were drenched in oil, some stale and soggy. A spoon was dirty and when I attempted to flag down a waiter I realized that he was busy collecting a plate a table over that was supposed to be clean and obviously dirty. Food is way overpriced. Frozen margarita was bitter and watered down. So much potential but they miss the mark by a mile.

Good texmex

By Stephen F |

Ate lunch here yesterday. Good food. Very friendly staff. I you are looking for a culinary experience this is not the place. If you enjoy good, fresh, home-made food look no further, The guacamole was wonderful, Tortillas are fresh made from scratch. We will be back!

Lupe Tortilla - The Rim

By Steve S |

Terrible service from hostesses, bar understaffed. Have had better service at their 281 location and in Houston. Skip this location....

The best Tex Mex food in town

By Vanessa Ochoa |

This restaurant has the best beef fajitas I have ever tried, accompanied by their fluffy and warm flour tortillas and fresh guacamole and cheese this is my go to plate! I am always hanging out by the rim area cause it is so close to my house so you can find me at Lupe tortilla at least once a week and I ALWAYS get the beef fajitas and they are ALWAYS delicious. i love their food so much that they catered one of my parties in October!

Good Tex-Mex

By PamRoad |

San Antonio is one of the best places in Texas to get good Tex-Mex and Lupe Tortilla is a classic Tex-Mex restaurant. Their ingredients are fresh and the menu has all the classic choices and a few unique options. They have an extensive bar and of course, lots of margarita options. This is not a "fast" mexican restaurant. They take time to make your meal to order and that is reflected in the quality and taste of the meal. The food is very good, the service is excellent and the prices are reasonable. An excellent choice for authentic Tex-Mex.

POOR

Review for The Rim Location

By truetexangurl |

After seeing decent reviews, we decided to visit The Rim location. What a mistake. The beef fajitas reek of pickle juice, are loaded with fat and very chewy. The skillet they are served on is swimming in grease. The beans taste like canned beans and the rice is very dull. This place is beyond expensive and we will never return. It was not the least bit good. We left well over half our food uneaten. What a waste of money!

Fabulous Flat a enchilada!

By Rick Stiles |

The flat enchilada was very unique and absolutely wonderful and the cheese enchilada was the best I’ve ever had!

The best cocktails!

By DebMoon |

I also have a great time at Lupe's! The service rocks. Drinks, appetizers, and desserts are the best!

Way to ruin lobster

By Ttreats |

After the waiter tried really hard to get us to order the fajitas and failed, he wanted virtually nothing to do with our table. The service was poor and the waiter apathetic. The lobster in my tacos was grilled to a crackly crunch and quite chewy. My dinner companion was a vegan, so I ate her Mexican corn which was good. I’m a much bigger fan of Pappasito’s Cantina. Lupe’s, unfortunately, is one and done.

excellent service, large portions of tasty food

By wil r |

I had low expectations for what appeared to be shopping mall Mexican. Very innovative sauces highlighted a real surprise. Portions were very large. Prices reasonable. Very attentive service

The best fajitas and tortillas

By Aubrey D |

Oh me! Oh my! Let's start with the customer service. We were seated promptly and our waitress greeted us in a timely fashion. I ordered the traditional frozen margarita which had hand pressed juice and just the right degree of tartness! We didn't really need an appetizer because the bounteous portion of thin, crisp tortilla chips with fresh salsa with a little heat and frijoles with bacon and a hint of cilantro was enough to get you ready for your main course. However, because we were newcomers....our waitress brings to the table a 2 tasty medallion sized tortillas with marinated flank steak and taste of fresh Guacamole. It was melt in your mouth steak. The secret was lime juice in the marinade making the flank so juicy and tender and well seasoned. So needless to say..My husband ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas. I couldn't decide between 3 dishes. So ....because i trusted my waitress, I ask her to surprise me. Boy was i surprised at the cedar plank salmon with a hot grilled lemon and a gracious drizzle of jalapeno tartar sauce. I was in heaven!! So please be advised that your trip to San Antonio would be incomplete without a visit to Lupe Tortilla!!

Good Tex -Mex Food nea the Rim

By Jennbthetraveller |

Lupe Tortilla is a chain restaurant in various Texas major cities. It serves up Tex-Mex cuisine primarily. My husband and I were looking for margaritas and chips with a light entrée, so this fit the bill. I opted for outdoor seating, although indoor seating has ample social distancing within the bar and dining room areas. Complimentary chips and salsa were good, especially if you can't take heat (the salsa is mild without much kick). I ordered the ensalada verde salad with added shrimp, while my husband got a chicken entrée which I forgot the name of. Service was wonderful- chips and drinks were consistently refilled. Both were delicious and we will definitely return.

Great mexican dining

By Ernie S |

Went here with a friend who recomended it. We had the Fajita's Del Mar which is a shared dish for three or four and has grilled lobster, two kinds of shrimp, beef and chicken. Was fantastic and although the lobster, shrimp and chicken were very good the star of the dish was the beef. It is described as lime pepper beef and is soooo good. Next time we go, I will just get the beef fajitas. They are the best I have ever had. The beef is so tender and so flavorful. Their margaritas are awesome and appetizers are great. They make their own tortillas both corn and flour and they remind of the ones I have gotten when in Mexico City, they are great. This is a good place to go as a couple, or a group, or just by yourself. Service was great and I highly recomend you try this place.

Family dinner

By Mark338CAV |

We had a large party of 10 on the night before 4th of July holiday. Wait was about expected the night before a holiday, around 45 minutes. Service was OK not great, waiter seemed rushed often times throwing plates. Three of our party ordered Barbacoa, which came out very dry. The manager and chef concurred and removed the entrees from the bill and offered to provide dessert. So despite setbacks it was a great experience and we will go again. Lesson learned is no one is perfect but how one handles mistakes makes for a positive experience. Great Work to the entire team at Lupes!!!

Wonderful beef fajitas

By Explorer770115 |

Be sure to order the beef fajitas. Best of the best!! You might pay a little more but it’s worth it.

The best fajitas!!!

By AmericanExplorers |

Yum! These fajitas were so good!! We went back a second time the week after because I was craving them. The flavor is really good, but not only that the quality of the meat is really good - which is a bit of a problem for me at other places when the meat is stringy, chewy and/or fatty. But not here!!!! We had jalapeño sausage to our mixed chicken & beef fajitas - it was really tasty and not too spicy!

Surprisingly Good!

By Pilot-Mike558 |

Decided to drop in last minute and we were pleasantly surprised. Service was warm and fast. Food was quite good and the price was right. Highlight dish was definitely the Carne Asada with a side of grilled shrimp. We will be back again.

Pretty mediocre

By Lizamomus |

Had to send back an entree and a side. The Queso Flameado was disgusting. The chorizo was hard as a rock. UGH! It was my daughter-in-laws choice for her birthday as I had taken her there for lunch many months back. Would never step foot in the place again!!

Nice addition to the RIM for Mexican

By Marc C |

Been open for 3 months + - Located behind Bass Pro Shops – Parking is great! Their difference is when getting chips and salsa at the table they also bring a cup of charro beans. Nice compliment – Their specialties are their Fajitas but for the ½ pound portion at their price; should be enough for two but just enough for one. They offered a ‘taster compliment of their Fajita meat on a ‘street size tortilla’ but you can not order them by plate; even though they show the offering on their website. Really disappointed that is was brought to my attention that they could not do that. I hate when a place says 'no" when I'm will to pay for it +. Should be an offering as very nice and light and easy for them to make since they bring it out complimentary for people who have never tasted their fajita meat. Secret to ordering if you don’t want the ‘rice and beans’; do ‘al carte’ if you want something less than a full appetizer and quick and much cheaper $$$. Don’t mind paying $2.75 for a taco along with my beer! Just wish they had the Fajita Sampler Platter available for purchase as that is a ‘no brainer’. Have been 3 times over the past two weeks and will go back; accept on weekends as it does get busy. A nice addition to the RIM and glad they are there – No complaints whatsoever and will return – Customer service was great and a great place to go after the movies!

The BEST grilled beef and chicken tortillas

By Mervi K |

I have eaten in several Mexican restaurants and Lupes Tortillas restaurant at the Rim by 1604 and I-10 in San Antonio is by far the best. Their grilled beef is so tender and tasty, as is chicken, and handmade flour tortillas are huge and so tasty, like brick oven baked tasty! Everything is so good. You won’t get disappointed.

Fajitas and tortilla

By metrotxex |

Best beef fajitas in the area. The tortillas are out of this world as well. Obviously made in house.

By chance, we found

By bstravel132018 |

My husband and I were out shopping for accessories for our bikes. We came around the corner of Dicks and found Lupe Tortilla’s. It had a lot of cars in their parking lot. We decided to try it anyways. There is a parking lot right next door we parked at as we have a dually truck. We went in and had to wait 15 minutes as that’s not too bad considering it was packed. Only thing I didn’t like was they had to text you when your seats were ready. The waiting seats were right by the hostess, she could have just called our names. We get sitter and the waitress took our drink orders and she came right back with them. We ordered the trio fajitas. Small in size compared to other places we have gotten a trio. The meal was hot and was spicy. We enjoyed it. The only thing was, it was a little expensive for the amount we received. The waitress was good, right on the ball and came to check on us several times.

Very Good!

By MelanieRuth |

We are here for lunch on Tuesday. We had the frijole dip which was great. The chicken fajita salad and a combination plate. The tamale and enchiladas on the combo plate were outstanding. We had no wait and our food came to the table extremely fast. We loved it and will be going back soon!

Best Beef Fajitas in the Known Universe

By Mark |

***Note: address should reflect WORTH Parkway not North.*** We eat here often and are NEVER disappointed. Pricey but worth every penny, you don't need the menu. Just nod at the server and say "beef fajitas." You can thank me later. Oh, the title of my review is nearly factual. ;)

Much like Chili’s

By Discover294025 |

This restaurant serves food with all the flavor one would expect at Chili’s; however, it is more expensive and the hostess and servers are unprofessional. If you’re looking for Mexican food with an American flair, this is your place especially with you have a lot of time on your hands.

Sitting at the bar...

By Heather T |

This is one of our favorite places! We love sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders create new concoctions. We have never had a bad meal here. Sometimes they get busy and it takes a little time... so we have Two black margaritas (my fave!) this is not a corner taqueria..it is a trendy texmex hotspot. Try the soft chicken tacos or the mixed fajitas!!!

Good but not Great

By Rammgm |

Please note, if you have read some of my other reviews, I love food and dining out. Let' s start with the good. I feel that you should always start wth the good. Chips and salsa. Yeah they have that. The chips are thin, crispy, not too salty, and not greasy. You would be surprised on how many restaurants get that wrong. Lupe does that beyond correct. The salsa. It is a little spicy. This is the spicy that lets you know you are eating something spice. There are chunks of the vegetables that make up the base of the sales. That was quite good. Also, unique to Lupe, as far as I know, they provide a borracho style bowl of beans. I thought that was unique. The taste was high on the "yeah that's good" scale. The waitress, Dina, knew the menu without having to look, guess, or ask someone else. As everyone knows, that makes the whole experience at a restaurant better. With all of this going for it Lupe was on the way to a 5! This was not so good. It wasn't bad. It was not so good. I ordered the barbacoa. That is one of my comfort foods. I guess it is an unfair test of what a restaurant can do when I order my favorite meat. The meat was tender and had an interesting sauce in it. That was surprising. Barbacoa usually can stand on its own with a little salt. It wasn't bad, just not great. They served the two tacos in corn tortillas with cilantro and quest fresco. I could have taken or left them. The rice was a little bland. The refried beans were nothing to write about. My friends ordered the fajitas. Like I said, it was most likely my mistake to order a food I am so familiar with, I make it at home. The fajitas come on an iron hot plate. They smelled and looked fabulous. I would have gotten those if I were to go again. The prices were not inexpensive. Maybe that is the other reason I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong. I would need to order something else if I were to go again.

Mission complete

By Michael an Julie |

The Meal was delicious but the service was even better. Vince took care of our table of 14 with no issues or mistakes. A place that can be enjoyed with family or just the friends.

Horrible! Don’t waste your time. Drive to Houston to original.

By sizz |

We are from Katy and have been going to the original Lupes and the Grand Parkway location for years. The Rim restaurant is just horrible compared to the 2 that are run by Stan. Let me start with the margaritas that are not consistent, watered down or too sweet. . The rim has done away its the original salsa probably to save time and labor. The atmosphere is lacking all around. They have raised prices and do not serve fresh ingredients. You can request original salsa but they charge you $1.00 and it looks like it has been in Tupperware for days. We will try the 281 location again but if it is anything like the Rim we will take our business elsewhere now that we live in San Antonio.

Lupe tortilla

By gemma Loredo Ferrari |

Top-rated Mexican restaurants in San Antonio , all the dishes are delicious, but the best are their tortillas both flour and corn, their melted cheese is also 10, you don't need to make reservation there is always room, their dishes are huge

Nice atmosphere; attentive staff

By U2137SCchrisl |

Had a meal with a colleague here last week. I love to get proper Mexican when in San Antonio and haven't been to thus place before which I think is quite new - wasn't on the Uber drivers sat nag anyway... meal was okay, I would not say that it was that authentic but was still good. Their 'speciality' I heard was the steak fajitas which were okay but nothing special. Overall, a nice alternative and very close to the shops and other bars. As the title says, the place seems nice, was busy but the staff were helpful and attentive

nice and friendly

By debra s |

we had some very good food, great service, so nice and accommodating to us in our need for quick food before a memorial service.

Very Good Tex Mex Restaurant

By clsm929 |

We have been here several times and plan to return. This is not a “cheap eats” place to dine, but worth the somewhat higher prices. The negative reviews I read are head scratchers to me. The fajitas are absolutely delicious and some of the best in town. My wife has sampled other choices from tortilla soup to other typical fare with positive comments. I am more sensitive to the liberal use of spices in their beans and fajitas but it remains worth it to me. I watch my carbs, but have just a half of their large and fresh tortillas because they are so good. We will continue to eat here.

4th time - Last time

By Hector L |

I’m not a fan of Lupe Tortillas. However, neighbors who really don’t know any better wanted to go there again...I’m such a sport - I agreed. instead of their overpriced fajitas (around $46 a lb. ) which I find too acidic maybe overboard on the lime? I opted for shrimp tacos (16.95). Not terrible, but once again, too acidic. A nice lemony sauce would be so much better. Rice was dry as usual, charro beans were good. Wife and I had their margarita ($9). It tasted ok. The problem is they put very little if any tequila in their margaritas. Don’t know about you guys, but for 9 bucks, I’d like at least an ounce of liquor in my margarita! It’s called Lupita tortilla because tortillas are very large/tasty, however, you have to ask to receive. waiter/service was good.

Always Great Food and Service at the Rim!

By Jason D |

Lupe Tortilla at the Rim is consistently a great choice for Tex-Mex in San Antonio. Every time we visit, we’re met with delicious food, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. The fajitas are especially good—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned.

Delicioso

By SmithDrKat |

Great margaritas and drinks and service at the bar as well as great food. The flavor was awesome. So glad we got the recommendation from a bartender at our hotel . It does not disappoint. Will be back again and again.

Always good Mexican food

By pumpkin1062 |

We have eaten here several times, and it has always been very good. The tortillas are wonderful, paper thin but hold up. Fajitas are great!

Tex Mex Upgraded

By Jack A |

This is a great place to your family , or to take that "someone special" out for a fine evening. I was not too impressed a couple of years back, but it was close and my wife and daughter wanted to give it " another chance." Boy was that smart. I have fallen in love with this place and been back 3 times in the last three weeks. Let me tell you that I am not a fan of the burrito sized tortillas. That's just alian to San Antonio. Their Produce needs and upgrade as well. It should and could be fresher and crisper. I talked to the chef about that Thursday night. That being said, this property is great decor along with a Fabulous variety of different Flavored Margaritas (the Blood Orange looked really good). Our server stated that it was her favorite. Now for the best part the Food! Be sure to order the Carne Filet(although the other beef dishes are great). The Crane Filet is listed as an 8 oz. I have a degree Certification From Cornell in Meat Mgmt & Operations and worked in the industry for decades ; and the cuts(3) that I have had are all 9-12 oz.! Great Value for sure. The Refried Beans are better than most, but the "Frijoles ala Charra" are TOP NOTCH.

GREAT MEXICAN FOOD !

By suz999 |

GREAT MEXICAN FOOD ! Also , the best combination of good service, good prices and a GREAT AMBIANCE. It’s’ never disappointed !

Nice location in the Rim.

By Curt S |

Nice location in the Rim. The chips and salsa/queso are always good. The fajitas are served by the pound and a 1/2 lb. order will fill 2 people for lunch. The place was packed but we were seated within 10 minutes. The service was ok.

Mexican with a Little Spice

By GunnyFred |

This was the second time we ate there after church. Opens at 11:00AM on Sunday's. Has good variety on the menu at reasonable prices. A little more heat in the dishes than most Tex-Mex places. Family friendly without a lot of blaring music or televisions. Enchiladas, tamales, faitias are good as is service. When the kitchen meshed up my order the server corrected immediately without prolonged wait. Limited bar and there are no 3.06 or 3.07 signs posted.

What happened to Lupe

By CoCo H |

You can always tell the personality of the manager by how the staff treat you when you enter a business. We greeted the hostesses, who never made eye contact. We waited 30 minutes in a half filled dining area before we saw our waiter who we smiled at and tried to use common courtesy and wasn’t having it. It was terribly over priced but we were trying to enjoy an evening out. The food was really good but we felt like we were uninvited house guests that stayed too long. It was 7 pm on Weds. Just a weird experience at an old favorite. Back to 281. 2 because the food was tasty. But we ordered the large Ritas and only got the carafe with the second round. The waiter said too much ice was in the glass, that’s why we didn’t get the carafe?!😂 you ALWAYS get the carafe at Lupe with the large Rita.

Good food , slow

By Trenton B |

We had a party of 6 adults 5 kids. They were on a wait of 40 minutes on a Monday night at 630 I pushed after 40 minutes to give us a table the hostess said belonged in a closed section. Once we were seated, it was 5-10 minutes before we met our server. He was very nice and for whatever reason took our drink and food order at once. Drinks took about 15 minutes to get to table, food an hour. While our server occasionally came by it was clear he was waiting tables on the other side of the restaurant. There was no support from other staff standing around and we never saw a manager walking the floor. While our server did a good job, the overall food wait time and service atmosphere is indicative of insufficient training and mismanagement. If you want a place to have a good (not great) margarita, visit with friends and eat good food, this is it! If you have kids and are on a schedule you may want to skip.

Decent Mexican Food

By J E |

A group of us, coworkers came here after work one evening… The vibe instantly reminded me of a chain joint – they have the laminated, artsy menus which are clearly corporately created, signage and “specials” of the season signs all over, but I kept an open mind about the experience. Service was fast and at first, I thought the server was too rushed to get in/out of or table, but I realized he was friendly, he just had a lot going on with other tables. The tableside guac was great! Very flavorful, especially with the roasted green chilis added to it! The salsa they provide was excellent! My meal, the carne asada green chili style was amazing – lots of great flavors! The frijoles that came with the chips and salsa was boring and bland, but the refried beans that came with my entrée were tasty and decent. Overall, it’s got that chain vibe, but it’s got decent food and service.

Fantastic fajitas

By Christina L |

We went to Lupe Tortilla while visiting family in San Antonio, and as first timers, the restaurant gave us these little mini steak fajitas to try before we ordered. This was an excellent idea on their part, because we had not planned on getting the fajitas, even though they are known for them (just because we do not generally care for fajitas). We were instantly sold on them, though - we ordered a platter of delicious marinated steak fajitas with corn and flour tortillas. So delicious and filling, along with the rice, beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo.

Yeah....no.

By BornandRaisedTexan |

Started off with some good Margaritas. Got beans with my chips, nice. And then it all went downhill. We got our food 1.25 hours later. My plate looked unrecognizable. Tasted lots of oily/greasy texture overpower the flavor in my plate. Had lots of Tex mex in 35 years. Ranks as the worst. I am not coming back to it and would not recommend. My daughter had pork carnitas and also thumbs down. Sorry, but nope. I ate my plate because I finally got it at 10 pm, and halfway through my rice and beans waitress picked it up. Wow.

Lunch?

By Will_Travel |

The service was very good, and that is why I gave it two stars. The plates are pricey for Tex-Mex $15 for quesadillas or a mix plate with one tamale, one enchilada and one taco with rice and beans. The food was bland no salt or spice. When we asked for salsa they gave us three options - one was like enchilada sauce, the second was a roasted red pepper that was mild at best. The third and “hottest” was green and all you tasted was lemon and cilantro.

Best Fajitas EVER!

By Nancy B |

Place is a bit pricy, but they have the absolute BEST fajitas ever!! Guacamole is good too. Can't attest for anything else, because I only ever go when I want fajitas.

Steak Fijitas are the BOMB!

By Brandi H |

One of our favorites!!!!! Get the steak Fijitas and add the Melted cheese and jalepnos, you won't be disappointed! Go early always a wait. Guacamole was good too.

Great Fajitas!

By Stephanie G |

We have been dining at Lupe Tortilla for over 30 years since growing up in Houston. We were so excited that they ventured to San Antonio. The 281 location has their stuff together and service is consistently good. The Rim location however, is a disaster. We have eaten there half a dozen times (hoping that they will improve) and they still don't have it figured out. It's unfortunate, because we love the food, especially the fajitas. The hostesses have NEVER greeted us with a smile, they look like we are inconveniencing them when we walk in. The servers have been ok. Some good, some horrible. The manager NEVER greets the table, which is a signature Lupe feature. The food the last time we were there was super slow, server didn't refill chips until we asked, but didn't refill salsa, again until we asked. The kids' meals come with an ice cream, but more often than not, the servers forget and don't offer it. That's my kids' favorite part! We are really hopeful they can get things together asap, otherwise we will be venturing back to Chuy's.!

Delicious Chicken with Hatch Chilies Sauce

By Suzanne K |

Terrific restaurant. The Hatch chilies chicken special was outrageously good. I also order guacamole which was fresh and tasty. Their happy hour special is a bargain-.. It's $5.50 for a margarita, but they bring 2 for that price! All the portions were very generous. I would definitely return.

Great Mexican with Non Traditional Menu Items

By D6830KAdavidd |

Coming from a local, this is not your typical Tex Mex food. Portions are large and justify the cost. Start with queso and chips and add ground beef to the queso. Chips are light and airy,, no grease. Margaritas on the rocks are excellent with many choices. Several Mexican beers on tap as well. Enjoyed the mix of beef and chicken fajitas for one. The homemade corn tortillas are outstanding. Also had crab and avocado enchiladas which were awesome. Their Mexican rice is some of the best,, light and fluffy. Décor and ambiance is perfect. You will pay more, but it is worth it. Sit outside if you can. Service was top notch.

Pleasantly Surprise

By 2casagatos |

Have driven by many times and decided to stop today. Every meal is freshly made in restaurant. Was asked if first time, yes. We were brought mini beef fajitas with guacamole and pico — meat so moist, tender and flavorful. Will return just for fajitas. Portions are satisfying. I had Taco Salad with fajitas chicken served on a plate with bed of lettuce, and a variety of toppings. Servicing breakfast, lunch and dinner. Put on your list to treat yourself for a meal at Lupe Tortilla.

Great every time

My family and I discovered this restaurant several years ago when leaving the JW Marriott. We all loved it. When I returned to San Antonio last year I again had to visit. Again a hit. So last week I was back. I love how friendly everyone is. Our server made us a Paloma. My daughters request. Very good. The food is always amazing. So I guess every time I come to town I will have return.

Seated Quickly but Sub-Par Service

By ayers002 |

We were told a 60 minute wait on a busy Saturday night, which is understandable. The wait ended up being 15 mins and we were seated - great start to the dinner! Our waiter was friendly, but incredibly slow all night and we waited close to an hour for our food after ordering. We expect to wait a bit on a Saturday night, but that seems excessive. Our food was decent. My cheese enchiladas were good and the tortillas are massive. My wife’s fish tacos were fishy unfortunately. Also our server dropped the check off half way though our meal and said nothing about it. Our server grabbed what looked to be a “used” to-go box for my wife which I saw him grab off a shelf with decorations - not where the boxes are kept! I asked another server for a new box. Overall, decent food but sub-par service.

Pricy Frijoles

Expensive average Mexican food with poor service! We will not return as there is certainly much better Mexican food in San Antonio at a better value. We arrived at 11am on a Saturday - first in the door as they opened. Our waiter, Adam, came to our table for the first time at 1120am as we were about to leave. Second disappointment, their "lunch menu" not offered Saturday or Sunday. Hubby's two crispy tacos, refried beans and rice ($13) average and definitely overpriced. My taco salad ($13) with chicken fajita meat had lots of lettuce and few pieces of chicken. No refried beans. Served with a small amount of dressing, so had to requested another. VERY disappointed with the taco salad. Another over priced menu item.

LOVE THIS PLACE!

The Rim is on the way home from work, so we stop here often. We love the margaritas made with Hornitos Black Tequila. The tequila has been aged in used bourbon barrels, giving it a mellow, rich taste. We also love the chicken tacos (that are really more like enchiladas) and the mixed fajitas. We really enjoy the chips that are served with fresh salsa and beans. You need to try this place!!

The Best Mexican Food Restuarant in San Antonio

We had a fabulous lunch at Lupe Tortilla today. Our server Jesus was terrific and the Manager Partner Vlad was great! Excellent friendly service with attention to detail that left our group very impressed. The food was even more impressive; tasty and plentiful. We all would recommend Lupe Tortilla at the RIM. Thank you Jesus and Vlad for creating a great dining experience. We will be back!!

Rocky start

By Manbyk |

This is Lupe's second location in San Antonio, Texas. Originally from Houston this Lupe's is getting off to a rocky start. The doors opened a scant week ago and the place was busting at the seams with customers which may explain our meal. We arrrived at 6 PM and had a 45 minute wait. We found a comfortable seat outdoors for drinks and conversation. When seated we ordered the fresh gaucomole, delicious. Unfortunately four out of four entrees ordered were over-cooked, dry and in the case of the fish tacos, tasteless. The chorizo shrimp was the highlight of the four entrees but again it was overcooked, the rice dry, not very appetizing. Service was expectedly slow to include getting the check. We expect every new restaurant has a shake out period and Lupes newest location in San Antonio is no different. Great seating, colorful, a perfect place to meet friends for drinks and someday soon, a well prepared meal.

Very disappointing

We arrived and were told 1 hour wait so we walked across street. 20 minutes later a text saying table ready. Within 2 minutes a 2nd text saying table given away. Let’s say we were not pleased. We walked up and they said they were “cleaning” another table for us. 30 minutes later we were seated. We should have left, but we’re hungry and promised just a few minutes. Service extremely slow, went to bar for our own refills. We told waitress we wanted order right away, as I write this 45 minutes later we still have no food. I spare you the review of food....have a feeling it will not be good.

Delicious beef fajitas

By Gigi Reyes |

Service can be hit or miss. Our first experience wasn’t so great, we were seated and it took about 15-20 minutes for someone to help us. Servers were passing by without someone asking us if we’ve been helped. Second time around, our server was really wonderful. I would go back for the food of course, would not recommend the carne asada steak plate, for $30 I would expect my steak to be cooked just the way I want it. I Asked for a medium rare steak and came out well done. I didn’t bother having it corrected as steak looked dry, exchanged it for a beef fajita instead and OMG was it delicious! Will go back for their fajitas anytime!

Great tex-mex but with flourishes

By satxdiver |

We have been here twice, once for dinner and the last time for lunch. Both times the food has been good. It is a step beyond the usual tex-mex fare served in other restaurants. They have a lunch menu as well as dinner with both available at lunch. They sell fajitas (beef, chicken, shrimp and filet mignon) by the pound and we saw a lot of diners feasting on the fajitas at our last visit. Meat, seafood and veggie offerings are available. On our last trip for lunch I had the spiced shrimp and rice stew which was indeed spicy and good. My partner had the original chicken lupe which we both had ordered the first time we visited for dinner. We both had to ask for containers to take the rest of the food home as we were not able to eat it all so go hungry. A lot of tables around us at lunch were eating fajitas usually sharing with another person. They have a patio for outside dining as well as bar. This location can be very crowded resulting in a wait. We will be back.
