Met on Sunday to have brunch and of course the place was packed! There were 3 of us and we were able to secure a place at the bar. It worked out great. On top of not having to wait, enjoyed a bloody mary while waiting on food. I ordered the eggs benedict and they were the best I have had in a very long time. The other folks ordered the corn beef hash which he loved and the skillet which my son enjoyed thoroughly. The only negative was we were prepared to sit a little longer but a couple who saw we finished up with our food, basically just hovered until we paid and left. Either way it was a great breakfast.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotels concierge. We were told that they had the best burgers in the area. The burgers ended up being just average. The noise level, however was almost unbearable. We ate as quickly as we could, just to get out of the noise. Would only recommend, if you have absolutely no desire to converse with your dinner companions.

Couldn’t get a reservation but we got there early enough they had tables available. Great Happy Hour specials. The owner/operator makes sure your visit is enjoyable and makes you feel very welcome. We highly recommend the LuxBar

Love this place. Nice interior and very good service. The personel is very efficient and helpful. Really good Eggs benidicts, as are most of the brunch/breakfast choices. A diner deluxe! Nice bar with a extraordinary assortment of spirits. Not too pricy, either. Well done!

the luxbar team was terrific! great service/great food, private room setting upstairs. we had over 50 people attend and everyone was very impressed. prices weren't outrageous.

Went on a Saturday night w/ reservations. The food was good and the service great, as well. The only downside it that the place was extremely loud -- even for a bar scene, it was really loud.

Unfortunately, there is not much good to say about this restaurant. The cauliflower steak was like eating a raw cauliflower. The skirt steak had zero flavor and everyone added salt and pepper to flavor. The chimichurri sauce was not as expected and most people did not like it. While the salmon was cooked perfectly, it too had no flavor and piles of greens were added to the plate raw with no dressing or flavor either. On a good note, the mashed potatoes were everyone's favorite food. The asparagus too. The fees and taxes were outrageous for a large party and actually cost more than the meals themselves. Not one person in our party said they would ever go back.

We eat often at Gibson’s Group restaurants, most often across the street at Hugo’s. Luxbar provides the same high quality food and superior service with a few differences and extras. First, the menu is more casual, leaning more heavily towards small plates and lighter fare. We shared avocado toast with our drinks (more on drinks in a minute). It was delicious and piled high. I had read that they were voted a top bourbon bar, and that is my drink. I requested a bourbon menu, which the manager brought out. He and I then had a very pleasant 10 minute bourbon discussion. Indeed, their selection was huge! It was served with a large “whisky” ice cube, very clear and irregularity shaped, like chipped off an iceberg. I had onion soup and a chicken club. The onion soup had very flavorful broth. My wife had the line-caught tuna poke, which was very fresh and abundant. We sat outside, and the people watching was excellent, and the Bellevue side of the intersection is a bit more quiet than the Rush St. side where Gibson’s and Hugo’s are. Service was great, and I saw the Manager clearing tables and doing other assorted tasks; to me, always a good sign. Another feather in the Gibson’s Group cap. They know their business!

You cannot not love this place. Daytime after shopping on Michigan Avenue it is the best place for a quick stop in lunch. Late night is even better. Sliders, steak, salmon all good. I think it’s connected to Gibson’s somehow anyway it’s great. Just had Matt serve me. He was high energy and happy.

Visited on a busy Saturday night. They were able to accommodate two extra guests to our original reservation for six at the last minute. While the menu may not be the biggest, it contained a variety so that everyone had choices. Everyone raved about their dishes. A couple of standouts were the Alaskan King Crab bisque and the Steak Frittes. The bisque was FULL of crab and not too heavy. The steak was fork tender with a red wine reduction that did not over power the dish. Service was top notch as well. In a city full of great restaurants, this one definitely stands out.

This is a consistent restaurant with beautiful staff and a plan. If you want to be really happy make a reservation on the weekend. Burgers and steaks are great. Fish and chips great. Drinks great. Brunch great. Staff great! See you on Sunday!

Great attentive staff. Very friendly. Lobster Steak burgers were super delicious, and they served the best moscow mule I've ever had. Atmosphere pretty laid back, warm light, it is loud, but what do you expect from a bar? I will be back.

Our server Alycia was AMAZING . I just arrived today from Orlando and this was our first stop . The food and drinks were great! But the service we received was even better !

Sitting in the bar area is great, patio is really nice and upstairs lounge is great for events and Lynette is always awesome to work with. The brunch menu for restaurant week is delicious, both the breakfast pizza and salmon sliders were fantastic Awesome service by: Erick, Suzie, Josh Sargeant and Chris Favorite dishes: cedar plank salmon, Calamari appetizer (fantastic), build your own Manhattan is delicious, breakfast pizza, salmon sliders and yellowfin tuna tacos

I was extremely impressed with the quality of my burger! It was super good. I wish the place gave us more attention and I wish it had faster service, but the food was great and the whole experience ended up very positive. I would gladly go back.

Great style, great food. I had the excellent California vegetable salad and ONE amazing slider, then came back the next day for yummy crab cake and a different, good salad. A great vibe.

We ordered some drinks at the bar whilst we waited for a table. There was a really nice buzzing vibe to the place. Sat outside for food, tables were good lots of space with heaters for a chilly evening. Food was tasty and large portions so good value. Thanks for a nice evening.

Came here on a Saturday night with our daughter and a friend. It was really crowded and the tables are one on top of the other. Noise level was unbelievable; I am 60 and have (according to my audiologist) "perfect hearing," and I could not hear the people at my own table. All that being said, the food is outstanding. Large portions. The drinks were also very good. Do NOT miss the Snickers Pie! We shared it among four of us and it was too much. I'd come back, but try for a quieter time.

I've been here many times. It is excellent on all counts. I highly recommend for dinner and drinks. I hear they have a nice brunch but have not tried it .

Really enjoyed the snacks available in the bar. Had some of the cashews, pretzels and a the sliders and chicken fingers. Very good drinks to- excellent bartender!

We ate here for brunch. The food was delicious, but everything else was just so-so. We felt very rushed, and the space was crammed with tables, so we were very close to everyone else eating around us. The Luxbar Skillet was fantastic! The atmosphere was fun, but like I said, we were very rushed so I feel like we didn't get to spend enough time there to really enjoy it.

We were staying at the thompson Hotel across the street and stopped in here for a late lunch on the day we arrived. We just had salads and sandwiches but the food was fresh and tasty and the service was very attentive. The decor is attractive and comfortable as well.

Good drinks. Nice atmosphere. Restaurant is beautiful. We chose to sit on the bar side and enjoy early happy hour--which is a great bargain. Will be back again. Our server was very good as well.

Luxbar is a very good value casual restaurant in Chicago. The prices are moderate, the food is very good, the location is excellent and Luxbar has a lovely outdoor area in the summer. Also it is part of the iconic Gibson's group. I highly recommend Luxbar

We had an excellent Sunday Bruch while visiting Chicago. Very good breakfast choices from their menu and plenty of televisions to watch you favorite NFL team.

Good food and service for a casual, but trendy night out. Friends enjoyed dining outside with a few drinks. Fried chicken and steak frites

A beautiful bar great bartender/mixologist Brent. He was witty and so quick very knowledgeable. He made our experience very enjoyable. Friendly atmosphere great way to meet new people. Drinks were great and the cheesecake was scrumptious.

We were told a 90min wait so we left and came back and it ended up being closer to a 2hr wait. The food was all fresh and tasty. One meal was not put in but at least it was complimentary in the end. The table received a dessert to share on the house. Drinks were just ok.

We had some drinks here on a weekday and had a good experience. Friendly bar staff, good drinks, fair prices for central Chicago.

Staying at the viceroy we passed this restaurant with its twinkling lights and attractive menu we gave it a go for breakfast and it didn’t disappoint Eggs benedict and stack of pancakes with sausage were delicious staff were very pleasant and interior very classy going to try their lunch menu next !!

Had a wonderful time here on a quiet Sunday evening. Drinks were delicious. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful! Definitely recommend.

Hosted dinner for 20...great space in private upstairs room with a nice bar and balcony...five choices ona set menu (two steaks, pork chop, chicken or Chilean sea bass)...family style garbage salad, asparagus with Parmesan, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes...each table also shared a giant lobster tail that was cut into chunks and served family style in the tail with drawn butter...everything was great and the service was nice...giant slabs of carrot cake and ice cream turtle pie were served family style, as well...great place - especially on an expense account!

Have not been here for a couple of years. Went to dinner with four of us (reservations recommended.) Food and service are outstanding. For example, our table ordered the fried calamari, somewhat spicy, but not bad. I cannot have wheat, so I asked the gentleman (GM Erick Starke) if there was wheat in the dish. He said yes, but then asked if it was an allergen for me. I said yes, but no big deal. My tablemates enjoyed the calamari. Before I knew it, Erick had brought a personalized dish without the wheat. It was not necessary,, but very much appreciated. Many good items on the menu - soups, salads, crab cakes, entrees. Our table had some of each, and they were all excellent. Great drink and wine menu. Our server Sean was very attentive, and did an excellent job. Every restaurant should have a waiter like Sean. The service by the staff and management was great, and greatly appreciated. Thanks, and I'm sure we will be back. I understand breakfast, lunch and brunch are amazing as well.

Had reservation for 5 people, we were seated inside. Great service & food. We ordered mimosas, Bloody Mary, and coffee. Also ordered a skillet and a Denver Omelette.

...when your first choice has a long line. My wife and I walked to the Original Pancake House last Saturday for breakfast. The place had a long line (even though enough tables were empty...can't understand that...). Anyway, we turned around and decided to have breakfast in the restaurant next door that happened to be the Luxbar. Good choice. I had the Mezcal Infused Salmon Benedict and my wife had the "normal" benedict. We washed it down with two cups of hot coffee and an "original" Bellini. Food was delicious and the service was fast and courteous. It was definitely great that the Original Pancake House has a long line...

The interior looks very fine. Love the upstairs. Food pretty good I had an occasion to try their burgers, risotto, calamari and crab soup. The fried Calamari are the absolute must try! Risotto was very good but burgers are just okay. I’ve been there many a few times with friends, on a date or with family. Never been disappointed. I can truly recommend this place! ;)

My wife and I enjoyed brunch at an outside table during a sunny Saturday. It was early in the season so the service was a bit scattered. I ordered a cappuccino which wasn't great so switched to regular coffee. My wife had the mezcal smoked salmon which was better than the avocado toast.

Came here for lunch with my wife. Really nice relaxed atmosphere sitting outside watching the millionaires going by. Good choice, I had an excellent prawn dish and a good chocolate desert. Plenty of food and sensible value, particularly for the area where $50 a head seems to be the norm. Service was friendly and helpful, little to criticise.

The restaurant itself is lovely. Very cozy and warm. The food is great and service excellent. What more could you want?

Gibsons Restaurant Group has a stranglehold on the restaurant/bar mecca at State and Rush Streets in Chicago's Gold Coast. It owns and operates Gibson's Steakhouse, Hugo's Frog Bar, Ristorante Quartino and Luxbar. Because my wife and I aren't drinkers or club-goers, Luxbar was our last visit. We're sorry we didn't choose to go earlier. For lunch or brunch or just plain bar food, it's a very enjoyable destination. Located at 18 East Bellevue Place across the street from the Thompson Hotel and next to Tavern on Rush and the Original Pancake House, Luxbar opened in 2005 and advertises itself as the quintessential neighborhood bar. It was named one of the "Great Bourbon Bars of America" in 2014. The checkerboard-floored restaurant serves classic, handcrafted cocktails to complement the kitchen's All-America feel-good food. Choose brunch, lunch, dinner, bar food or dessert. You won't be disappointed. It's a fun place to meet people and watch people while sampling all kinds of culinary delights. How about bar food? Tomato bisque, jumbo shrimp cocktail, Maine lobster roll, classic burger, braised short rib, pan fried Lake perch, Cedar planked Faroe Island salmon. Lunch? Start with a jumbo shrimp cocktail or a selection of meats and cheeses. Then have a bowl of chicken noodle soup before chowing down with a corned beef sandwich or classic burger or turkey burger or Maine lobster roll or a plate of fried chicken. Dessert? Choose cheesecake or a turtle sundae or a Luxbar snickers pie or 8-layer chocolate cake. Who says you can't go to a bar and have fun without drinking alcohol?

Fantastic place in downtown Chicago- great ambience especially with the roaring fireplace and service was impeccable. Francisco (Bar Mgr) came by for a short conversation to confirm all our needs were met and if he could personally do anything to make our day better. I consider the unobtrusive service to be among with the best I’ve had. Oh yeah, don’t miss the French onion soup and listen when they say it’s hot.

I used open table for a reservation more than two hours befor my table. When I got there I checked in with the host output side, they saw my reservation and said if I wanted to sit outside it would be about 30 min or I could check in with host inside for immediate seating. We were in a slight hurry so inside was fine so we checked in with the host. We were told the bar high tops were open seating by the host outside. When we went in the bar wa very busy, lots of people standing. I saw to tables that had the reserved card on them, so I asked the host about them. One was in the window, a high top in the bar area and a high top booth. She said oh those are reserved and all I can do for you is this high top in the middle of a very crowded bar. So was my reservation different than the ones she was holding? Why was I being discriminated against? I soon found out why, both the manager, server and host knew these guest and gave them their favorite table. So if you don’t know any of the staff there expect the worst spots. Highly disappointed in the staff there, except our server Kelly. She was very nice and helpful.

We met a couple for Sunday brunch and had a very good meal. The restaurant was packed, but the service didn’t suffer. We were able to order breakfast or lunch and food was typical bar type dishes methodically cooked. Expect a typical sandwich or breakfast omelette

Luxbar is a very nice restaurant. Good food and fantastic service. You won't be disappointed. Great happy hour.

Man !!! This place is great....food ,waitstaff, service. Menu was unique and tasty. Large group and food served hot. Made for a memorable wedding function

We were in town from Kansas City last month for a wedding and came here for Brunch and it was fantastic!!! The Avocado Toast was delicious and we sat in a cozy table by the fireplace. Loved this place!!!

Stopped in for a late lunch & were pleasantly surprised. We grabbed pub food but they had a full menu. Things were hopping but the waiter kept. One dropped the ball but another waiter filled in. The food was great & filled the bill. A place worth visiting.

Such a great atmosphere and food was delicious! Our server Alycia was amazing, so kind and such great recommendations!

I visited Luxbar on a Tuesday evening. The bartender shared several drink specials and appetizer specials. His service was prompt and courteous, but not overly friendly. The food was simply prepared and delicious. I will go back.

Lively dining atmosphere that appeals to families or couples...menu includes sandwiches that will appeal to all ages or a variety of full course meals...service was excellent...entree and a couple drinks will cost $40-$50 per person so not inexpensive but typical for this area of Chicago...I'd recommend as a good place if you have several folks with a variety of taste 'buds'!

We were about to walk out... we asked for a table for 7 at 2:30 on a Saturday, the two ladies at the front desk were not very accommodating.. told us it would be a 30 minute wait. (We could see plenty of empty tables.) As we were about to leave, the manager came over and asked us not to leave. He pushed two tables together for us. What a concept! We had an enjoyable hour and our server (and the manager) took care of us. Food and drinks were fine. Service by our server and manager above average:) The front desk could use a little training in customer service.

I see that they have a Certificate of Excellence and I want to add that they deserve it. Hosted a family dinner for 29 people in their private upstairs room. It was the first time I have been in a restaurant since Covid. They were clear about their policies and we complied. The wait staff was outstanding!!! The food was good. The atmosphere they set with their gracious service added so much to the warm of our event. We will be back for the next family event!!!

We really enjoyed the morning at Lux Bar. A few Bloody Marys, Some very cheerful staff, the bright green checked table cloths all made it a great time. The Breakfast burrito was the best I ever had.

We looked at many restaurants before we chose LUXBAR. Loved the area the restaurant is in. Very quaint area with beautiful brownstone houses. The restaurant is nicely decorated with an excellent menu. The French onion soup was delicious and their hamburgers are fantastic. My husband thoroughly enjoyed their extensive bourbon list and said his Old Fashioned was amazing. The service was top notch. We were quickly seated. Waiter was very attentive and our food arrived to our table quickly. Will definitely return!

We were here for a business trip and really liked this bar. We had only appetizer .. the sliders were great btw. The waitress Kelly was on her game. Keep us informed on menu and on drinks.

Went here for a family dinner. The service was great, the waitress very knowledgeable and the food was very good. We had a chocolate cake for dessert that was delicious!!! Its also a lovely restaurant in a very nice location.

We went here for super today. Had the faroe island salt. Others had the pizza and Cuban sandwich and fries. All were good

Food is good as is the service. Handy to our hotel across the street. I think this establishment is a great place for drinks and nibbles. I would suggest dining else where as Chicago has so many great quality restaurants

Had lunch at Luxbar and enjoyed the experience. The tomato bisque it the spot. My wife had the cobb salad which she rated very highly, our friend had the chicken schnitzel including a sunny side up egg, and I had the crab cake. Nice atmosphere, lively crowd, good service.

Great choice for outdoor dining in Chicago. Super friendly service and a welcoming attitude sets the stage for fun in an otherwise too busy area. The food is fresh, varied and affordable. Good for couples or small groups.

Gorgeous restaurant. Great service. Delicious food. The whole street is shut down for outdoor dining so it will be easier to get dropped off than to park.

For starters this location is on Bellevue not the address listed so I am writing my review based on the Gold Coast Luxbar. This is the place in the GC if you want a vibrant atmosphere, bar/bistro style. I’m deciding if I actually want to say this because the more you know about LB, the more crowded it will be—and I do want to get a seat 🙂 But, it’s the place to be. The food is great—best—literally THE—absolute best French onion soup I’ve ever had—and literally the best fried chicken you’ll get in a restaurant. My other fave is the Rachel—which is an amazing turkey sandwich—almost panini style with melted/burnt (perfectly) cheese. Then, there’s this—you want Gibsons excellence? Ok. You got it! They have that high level of quality that Gibsons does to perfection—but in a fast pace. Lastly—shout out to the management team who table touches left and right—works together seamlessly—and makes every client a VIP. Oh, yes. They are table touching! And, in a way that you don’t even realize—you’ve been VIP’d—Natalie, Ryan. Augusta and the staff—yes. You are excellent!

You can just about have anything and everything at this restaurant and the food quality is excellent. If you are a vegetarian, or trying to healthy or not. They do it right here and most accomodating. Fantastic service and great food. One of our favorite go to places.

We were staying across the street at the Thompson and stopped by for a drink. The bar staff are very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. A few nights later, we met a friend for a drink and sat outside. I server, Susie, was fun, friendly, and very attentive. The support staff are very focused on making your visit comfortable. What a great location for very delicious handcrafted cocktails!

First time I’ve felt compelled to write a review within a couple minutes of my visiting a place. Superlative sliders, for real. A nice stack of two crispy patties, decently but not overly sauced, on just the right amount of bread. Very generously proportioned for a slider—these may be the best I’ve ever had. As far as drinks go, I’m not sure if they’re 1a or 1b vis a vis the sliders. The bartenders are affable and knowledgeable, and the selection, particularly for bourbon, is second to none. They really seem to care about their craft, though at first glance it seems like your run of the mill bar/eatery. This is a nice surprise in a kind of touristy/high traffic area.

Fantastic service and amazing drinks! This was my first time at Lux bar as I was on vacation visiting family in Chicago.Next time I’m in Chicago, I will definitely come back.

Great menu. Excellent choices. I’ve had the salads, avacado toast, club sandwich. All excellent. Cappuccino was fabulous too. Great atmosphere, excellent location in Gold Coast.

We found the best Bloody Mary in Chicago. The manager seated us, and we had a great talk about WWII history before enjoying more than 1 Bloody Mary each. Next time we are in Chicago, we will be at Luxbar!

Luxbar is 'a place to go' in the upper part of the Magnificent Mile area of downtown Chicago, and when the weather is kind does pleasant outdoor dining on the sidewalk. I took a friend to lunch there just at the turn into fall and we opted to eat inside. And one of the key things we both said afterwards is that it is a very 'loud' space - this is not a place to go for quiet conversation, especially if you want to discuss anything 'serious'. The service was curiously indifferent from arrival through to departure. The hosts could not work out whether they were checking people in outside or inside, and looked blankly at me when I arrived to claim the table until I prompted one of them to speak with me. At the table the service was also rather uninterested and disengaged. Food-wise I and my guest both had a lunchtime salad that was fine but unremarkable. It may be that other dishes are more remarkable, but slightly hard to imagine that this will be true. Overall, Luxbar is fine, but I certainly would not make it a priority to return there.

Stumbled upon the gold coast area and was told could wait 1 hour for an outside table or immediate inside table which we took, was great food , fantastic people watching, buzzing atmosphere. Enjoyed the evening so much we went back for breakfast where we did get an outside table. Very good indeed !

I had dinner at the Bar Sunday evening, Very good mixed menu with all options. Friendly service and fair prices!

We arrived at Luxbar and was immediately greeted with a smile from the hostess. We had a reservation and she gave us lots of great choices to sit. We decided to sit at the bar because we enjoy a good bar and this one is! Kyle was awesome as were everyone. The burger was DELICIOUS as were the cocktails!! Would definitely recommend!

The place is on the best areas of Chicago. It’s was magnificent day and we ate outside. The food was excellent. The plates are small. It’s worth trying it.

I visited here a few times. Breakfasts are great and staff are most helpful. The bloody Marys are excellent. Drinks menu is good. We got through a few White Rascals and Strawberry Fields. 😉

Wandered in here when the Original Pancake House next door was packed. This place was pretty full as well. It's an odd little place. A weird combo of fancy and sportsbar. The service was great and food was just as good. We also got food very quickly. Not a bad little place to get breakfast/brunch if that's what you're looking for.

We ate there for breakfast on a last minute whim. The food was good but nothing special. The bloody Mary was great though!

We stayed across the street from Luxbar, which we had visited before. From their "design your own Manhattan" to the absolutely perfect cheeseburger, it is a terrific place to dine. Reasonable prices for downtown Chicago, too. Every server is professional and friendly, and after three visits, we were recognized by the manager as well. Abby represented the restaurant in an extremely professional manner. We will definitely return when we are in Chicago on business.

A nice place to eat with a good atmosphere. Had one of their burgers and it was nice and juicy and not overcooked. Good bourbon selection and their signature Old Fashioned is very good. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive and our food came out nice and hot.

I have been to Luxbar probably two dozen times and it has never disappointed. The service is always great, food is amazing. I highly recommend the Lux Royale burger...add on the truffle fries and Snickers Pie for dessert along with a moscow mule and you could not have a better comfort food meal!

Excellent spot for lunch or dinner. The cocktails are supreme. Especially their old-fashioned. Their bar plate tuna steak is absolutely delicious. Wonderful atmosphere and great service.

heard about it and tried it and glad we did. such a nice restaurant. welcoming staff from the waiter to the manager, professional and personal. we tried a couple of different items that WOWed us. Croque Monsieur-so good, Avocado Toast-more than you think, California Vegetable salad -crisp/fresh. then the Snickers pie-OMG i really enjoyed experiencing the LuxBar

Luxbar is a perennial favorite for nice portions of crowd-pleasing American fare with an relaxed clubby atmosphere and a great sidewalk patio. I recently went with family and we had a very satisfying early dinner. -Hostess was very nice and immediately seated us at a pleasant sun-drenched table on the patio--beautiful setting on a tree-lined street in the Gold Coast--and great people-watching as well! -Our server, Kelly, was extremely warm and attentive. -They make a very generous martini--just like at big brother restaurant, Gibson's. -Buffalo chicken salad is awesome--with tender pieces of chicken in tangy sauce with fresh-shucked corn and buttermilk ranch dressing--also good bleu cheese. -Salmon plank was fresh and flaky. -Fries with garlic aioli were nice and crispy. -Tuna poke was very good and a healthy option. -Filet sliders are a great deal--they were juicy (cooked a perfect medium rare) and served on fresh warm sesame buns. It's a great place for a casual but sophisticated-feeling dinner, brunch or drink--and I'll be back many times.

This was a mixed bag. The food was good and fairly reasonably priced. There was a nice selection of things for brunch. Drink options were OK, though they have no beer on tap; it's all in bottles or cans. It is extremely noisy - conversations are hard to have in the din. And the service was terrible. The 2 women at the host stand ignored me for several minutes when I entered - I finally had to ask them if someone was going to acknowledge my presence and assist me. Our waiter was unfriendly and surly. He didn't greet us, didn't introduce himself, never cracked a smile and seemed totally bored - he clearly didn't want to be there and felt we were a nuisance. Once he took our order we never saw him again. He never came by to see how our food was or if we needed anything else. When we tried to flag down another server, she pretended not to notice us. We might go back for the food if it wasn't for the awful service.

We stopped in around 4:30 p.m.on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The space reminded us of restaurants we've visited in Vienna with its wood paneled walls and checked tablecloths covering tables. Service was impeccable from beginning to end. We even had two servers and a manager check on us to make sure we were taken care of. Cocktails started our meal (the Aviation was smooth, cool and delicious) and hubby had an old-fashioned that he deemed worthy of his taste buds. Our server paced our meal so we never felt rushed. For an appetizer, we had spicy calamari which was like nothing I've ever had before. I'm still dreaming about the light breading, kick of peppers and dash of spice. Superior! The helping, even though it was a bar plate or appetizer, could have been a meal alone. For dinner I had the fried chicken, which was outstanding. It was half a chicken in a subtly spicy coating over a moist and reasonably sized bird. Hubby had the steak frites, which he said was excellent in all ways. The portion was perfect and for $15, a can't miss deal. Before I even picked up a chicken leg, the server came back with a heated cloth with a slice of lemon, telling me I would need it soon. He was right. I poured honey over the chicken, nibbled and reached for the cloth. We will definitely be back here.

We happened upon this charming restaurant in the Gold Coast while staying downtown for a long weekend. We had such an enjoyable lunch that we came back for dinner! Both meals were excellent. Service was impeccable even though it was packed both times. Highly recommend. At lunch we had a burger, a turkey burger and a Buffalo chicken salad. Everyone loved the fries. At dinner we had steak with steak frites (would probably skip these as the sauce wasn’t the very best), the sliders and a side of truffle fries (the best!).

Lux Bar is in a great location directly across from the Thompson Hotel on Bellvue in Chicago. Their food is excellent with friendly staff and great variety of choices. Inventive offerings for appetizers and main courses. Charming decor and lively atmoshere.

After dinner we stopped by for the eight layer cake to celebrate my daughter's 26th birthday. Loved the corner spot we were seated in, and the cake with ice cream was wonderful. The waitress was so nice and efficient too.

Perfect spot for drinks and appetizers to catch up with an old friend. Bartender made an awesome margarita and I guess the Grey Goose on the rocks gets an honorable mention. Good selection of appetizers for snacking and chatting.

The menu items we selected continue to interact very well with our palate. The attention to serve continues whether wait staff , and/or Managerment working to assure the dining experience. 💎💎💎💎💎 Shalom

Very busy place so I's recommend reserving a table. We came here to drinks and lunch and it was great. Food, services, drinks, price, ambience. Definitely recommend

We came here to take advantage of their happy hour. $5 champagne (best deal), white blend, red blend, or beer option. The food was the highlight for us though. We each ordered a Warm Pretzel with Pub Cheese, Lux Royale Slider, and Yellowfin Tuna Taco. All of it was delicious but we really enjoyed the taco. The fried wonton shell was creative and the tuna and guacamole were amazing.

Followed recommendation from Staff at the Waldorf Astoria for late lunch. Fantastic place, part of the Gipson restaurant group. Great food and surprisingly great prices. Steak and Frites was only $15. Nice portion size and great service. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.

We stopped by for late night food after attending a musical at Porchlight Theater. We loved the atmosphere but some of our food items were not good and overpriced for what we received. The ribs were over cooked and poor quality. The filet sliders came on a large plate with just three small sliders that had no garnish or sauces (just bun and meat! No lettuce/tomato/sauces. The plate was 2/3rds empty - seemed like something was missing). The crab cake and burger were good. The truffle fries were greasy. The location is convenient for the theater, but it wasn't a great choice for food.

We went there around 11 after a show and sat outside on the patio. Can't say we had great service. The night we were there we only saw our server Kyle when he took the order, passed by once quickly and gave us the bill. We had wine and a draft which were both really good. We started with the calamari appetizer which was excellent. We shared the classic burger that was more than enough for both of us. The burger was ok, far from a great burger (which by the way we had the night before at the Tavern at Rush). We were able to flag down another server Megan who was a delight, cleaned our table off, asked if we wanted anything else and took the check up after she saw us waiting to pay.

We had breakfast here one day during our visit to Chicago. It was a Sunday. It was so good, we were disappointed that we couldn't go back another day. My husband got the eggs Benedict, which he enjoyed. I got the breakfast skillet, which my husband ended up ogling the entire meal. It included amazing thick cut bacon and sausage. The star of the plate were the caramelized onions in the hashbrowns. Oh my...so good.

I met a friend for wine. The list is really good and the service was excellent. The staff knew their wines and was very helpful.

Stopped in Friday night for a quick meal before a concert. No reservations, but got one of the last seats, near a window, at about 6:15. From outside-- and judging by name-- it may look like a sleek, ultramodern bar, but inside the wood-paneled walls, tile floor and furniture create a more traditional (though contemporary) feel and relaxed vibe. Anyone would be comfortable here. Tavern, next door, had a similar look but felt more like a see-and-be-seen place. Did not have a huge sample of the the food since we had only a quick meal, but I loved my crab cake (big on crab, small on cake) and the kale salad. Service was perfect.

My wife and I took our son here one Sunday morning before our flight out. No wait to sit in the bar area. A bit noisy with the NFL games on but ok. Our food was prompt and I have to say it was the first time I have ever seen FRENCH bread used for French Toast! It was great! Service was good but like all places in the GOLD COAST it was crowded.

Whether it’s the Manhattan menu or the truffle fries, Lux Bar is always a must every time we are in Chicago. Great staff, service and ambiance. Love this place!

We made a reservation here after wedding dress shopping to celebrate my daughter’s engagement and purchase of THE dress. There were 6 of us and our entire experience was amazing and could not have been more special for our celebration of this very special day with friends, family and family to be. We changed the time of our reservation with ease, had a wonderful round booth in the back of the restaurant; the service was beyond outstanding (thank you, Joshua!), the prosecco flowed, the food was delicious and the bill was amazingly reasonable! Thank you Luxbar!

Appetizer are varying including a variety of meat or meatless options. Beautifully presented, great flavors and textures. Main course was fried chicken. Disappointing, deep fry coating separated from the chicken before consumption and side of fries arrived cold. Exotic cocktails, however, they seemed to miss the mark based on menu descriptions. It is a better bar than restuarant, thus the name "Luxbar".

The French Onion soup was delicious and so were the fries but my French Dip had salt on it which was just too much. I heard the steak was good but the portion was small and wasnt filling.

Stopped here for a quick lunch and a beer while shopping at the area. Food was really good, waiters were really nice to us. Would recommend.

Restaurant in the most beautiful area of Chicago. Too bad for waiting about 40 min to have the table despite the reservation. Chaotic interior, very full, noisy. You just can't talk without screaming. Good food but disastrous indoor environment. The outdoor area instead seems like another restaurant, few tables but very quiet .. Too bad it rained and you could not stay outside. So if you want to try it I recommend only outside and with a lot of patience. Our waitress was kind , she apologized for the delay ... we were offered appetizers for waiting (a nice gesture), but despite this the management leaves much to be desired and in such a noisy and cold environment (high air conditioning) it was difficult to enjoy dinner.

My daughter chose this place for small wedding party on 8/21. The service was wonderful, food excellent and the room was just perfect for our small group. Would definitely return for private dinner.

Bourbon heaven! Stopped in for a quick drink to kill some time before having dinner. The ambience of this bar was awesome. Beautiful bar and decor. We sat at the bar and I was quickly overwhelmed by the selection of bourbon behind the bar. I was given a list of the bourbons and made a selection. The list had all the usual bourbons but many rare and highly limited selections. Prices were reasonable on the top end bourbons. The bartender was excellent and I wish we could have spent more time at the location. We had dinner reservations and a nearby restaurant and had to leave after our round of drinks. We did not have any of the food during our visit.

We enjoyed a dinner with friends on a rare Chicago good weather summer evening. We sat at a table that was indoors, but right at the open French doors so we could enjoy the weather but not suffer from the the threatning rain. The menu offers interesting appetizers, small plates and large plates. The women had homemade fried chicken that was tender and not greasy, while one of the men had a roast beef au jus sandwich and the other had an avocado club sandwich. All the dishes were tasty and moderately priced. Good restaurant for a light meal and drinks.

Loved this venue which clearly enjoyed local support. Classic American menu. Attentive service and great buzz. Reservation recommended.

Really beautiful area in Chicago. Restaurant is decorated very nice. Food was delicious. I had the french dip. Great drinks as well.

I love this place I have never had a bad experience. The service is great and the food is very very good. Fried chicken is to die for. Burgers are good and the turkey burger is very juicy. I go at least once a month. We never want to go anywhere else because it is wonderful.

GREAT selection of bourbon and whiskey. Great. Had things I've never seen before. Excellent selection and outstanding service. I've walked past this before many times and was never interested. But now it's a must-visit anytime we're in the Gold Coast.

After a busy day of sightseeing in Chicago we were looking for an outdoor, upmarket cafe/bar for drinks and were not disappointed. This area is full of bars and restaurants, but usuallyvery difficult to get a table due to the excellent summer weather, however only had to wait 10mins and were led to our table. Perfect place for people-watching, just off Rush St, and in the heart of action. Well stocked bar, with very knowledgeable bartenders, even mixing us an Aperol Spritz, not so easy to find in Chicago! Great selection of healthy bar snacks and nibbles. Staff very friendly and efficient. Tip: Order the freshhummus dip with pita bread and veggies Highly recommended

Food was amazing (extremely affordable) . Probably some of the best cocktails I've had. My partner and I were seated at a cozy booth and the window on the first floor. Waiters are extremely friendly and attentive. Will go back for sure.

The location was great. The food is plentiful. The lobster roll was terrific. The lux club was your typical club sandwich but very tasty.

We stayed right across the street from the Luxbar...and am so glad we decided to eat there for a Sunday breakfast. Nutella Waffles were literally life changing. Waffles, made with Nutella in them...and Nutella on the side...and syrup...and bruleed bananas on the top! Words cannot describe how ridiculously good and decadent this meal was. Unreal! Sitting outside was full of ambiance and people watching. Service was attentive. Would 100% eat there for breakfast again when in Chicago, and would love to try Luxbar for lunch and/or dinner as well. Thanks for a memorable breakfast!

Stopped in while shopping and got bloody mary's. Avocado toast was amazing! Kids got burgers that they loved!

Staff were superior, attentive to needs. But, the menu could use a "do over" from an experienced chef. 70:30 chance (in favor of not) that I'd ever dine again at this restaurant.

We went twice during our week long stay in Chicago. First was for late night cocktails at the suggestion of our concierge. We were unimpressed by cocktails and bar food, but decided to give it another chance for lunch with kids. Not much better. My husband did like the filet mignon sliders. We also liked the hummus appetizer just fine. But, the avacado toast was disappointing (we were told it's their bestseller) and the pasta dish was tasteless. There are many, many other places that are nearby with better food and drinks

Great bar and fun - but they are serious about their food and service. I've previously reviewed it primarily as a bar, but the food matters as does the service. This is a high energy place - always busy. Same owners as Gibson's, to give you a sense of competence around building a successful brand.

It was a great experience, good food but didn't love the drinks. The atmosphere is for older people but still relaxed. I recommend it for a casual dinner with friends.

Excellent service that is very attentive. In warm months they have excellent outside seating. Its location is the heart of the Gold Coast with a great of people watching. The numerous meals we had the pleasure of tasting throughout the past several years. This is place to go especially if you are staying in the Rush Street area.

Looking for a small bite and drinks after a show we ended up at Luxbar. Friendly and prompt service in a relaxing and cozy setting. Great selection of drinks/wine and lots of yummy choices made it difficult to decide. The Tuna Poke was simply delicious as was the Steak Frites. All reasonably priced and portions. I’m sure this place is mobbed at busier times but so glad we got in when we did. We’ll be back!

We had another restaurant reserved, but cold and rain made us change our plans. We chose Lux Bar because it was close and menu looked good. It's a busy, noisy place, but service and food were good. We enjoyed the "build-your-own-Manhattan" option. It was fun. Our server, Wyatt, did a very nice job. We just had burgers and fries, they were good, too much for us to eat.

We dined at the Luxbar before our Broadway show. Jen, our waitress, was very knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional! Be sure to try the truffle fries!

We stopped in here because we needed to kill a couple of hours before our bnb was ready. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was great. They have a nice pils and my wife tried a cremant and a white Burgundy and like them both. The truffle fries were copious and made nice barfood. The interior is very nice, and I would recommend this bar wholeheartedly. There is also a big dining area and a second floor, but we did not stay for dinner.

Wow just loved this place, amazing cocktails and we had a light lunch. The french onion soup was outstanding and the calamari divine. The service from the lovely Carla was first class. Super busy place with a great vibe, the best place we have been in Chicago.

Overall awesome. Service was amazing. Food delicious and accommodating to our requests to share different dishes. I would have given a five if it weren't for the noise. It was hard to hear so if you are looking for a quiet place to speak in a normal tone it may be difficult but you'll enjoy the food. If you want a lively atmosphere you will love it and the food. I had crab cakes and truffle fries with fried chicken and all was great. Bourbon selection was one of the best I've seen. Knowledgeable staff. Recommend a visit.

The location is fantastic if you are staying in the Gold Coast area. The outside restaurant design is very modern from the outside, but going inside felt a little dated. Service was good, but food was just average. There are better places to dine in Chicago.

Get the burger, you won't be disappointed. We found this place by accident, during St. Patrick's Day weekend, and had a wonderful dinner.

Have gone a few times and have not been disappointed. They burgers are great and my wife really enjoys the salads.

We popped in for a drink on our tour around Chicago. The bartender was was super knowledgeable and provided some great recommendations for Whisky. Definitely should be a stop on your tour around Chicago!!

Great Brunch Menu and Service! I loved the breakfast burrito (even though it is more of an enchilada). A lot of good options, so anyone can find something they like. Made a reservation here and got a nice shaded seat outdoors. Fair prices for the quality. Oh, and an avocado margarita, super interesting but good. Recommend!

Had a great lunch her sitting in the sun on the outside seating area The Chicken tenders plentiful and vey tasty.

We just stumbled upon this restaurant as we were looking for breakfast. We were able to sit outside and had a great breakfast. Nothing too unique or crazy. Just a delicious breakfast with the Chicago ambiance. I would go back.

LuxBar Restaurant April 15, 2018 The game and food- food and the game with Roc on Sunday evening after a full and wonderful day of praise/worship at ACOG-chicago.org. Drop Roc at the restaurant and found a parking meter near Rush and on Elm. Our table was near the fire place. The fireplace has a big screen TV over top. Cleveland was playing Milwalkee.... This Rochelle favor turkey burger place. She ordered the burgers with grilled onions, some type of cheese with lettuce and tomato. Yes your choice of cold slaw or french fries, and one of each with dijon mustard. We ask for calamari as an appetizer. Please make sure it is hot. The waiter has good hearing. Nothing like a good listener. LuxBar makes real lemonade with mint leafs for Roc. The bun was toasted, the cheese was melted, and running down on the sides. The french fries was just a little heavy on the salt.... That was on me, i did not said not salt on the fries... The turkey or turkeys gave their life for our meal and that was a great thing for us.. Just good for eating. We has a great waiter and great staff.... We saw Cleveland loss the 1st game in the playoffs. We are coming back again for turkey burgers. The menu is very good. We would normally eat with Roc side of the family at this place. ...💎💎💎💎 Shalom

We went for a late lunch/early dinner. We really wanted draft beer and cider and they delivered on both. For starters, truffle fries (pretty good), wedge salad (so/so, I have had better), french onion soup (best I have ever had), and pan roasted chicken with spinach (good, but I have made similar with Blue Apron- LOL). We were waiting for a table at 2:30 on a Saturday. It was very good. Sat in bar area, first to grab a table gets it!!!

This was a great restaurant in a great location within the Gold Coast area. There is a lot of energy - atmosphere is fun! Great food and drink options. The sliders and crab guac were delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. Definiitely recommend!

They had a nice, varied menu, and the dishes were well executed. The service was organized and quick. The place is visually appealing with a good vibe. I thought the prices were very fair. We went back the next day, and came away with the same good impression. I would return again. Don't be misled by the name; I see it as more of a restaurant than a bar.

Went to Luxbar a little late in the night. Place was a little loud with the drinking scene, however the server was still friendly and efficient. Out of oysters but the lobster roll arrived warm and fresh tasting in less than 15 min. Good extensive drink menu. Can't go wrong coming here for food and or drinks

Love the surrounding area, with lots of nice restaurants & bars Upstairs private room is ferfect for gatgering, outdoor small but long balcony is very convenient for people watching in the early evening Food is good. The chocolate cake is insane!

Try the lux royal burger. Amazing!! Everything at this restaurant is solid. The service is amazing as well. My husband and I had Jenny wait on us and she was very efficient and hospitable. Will definitely be back soon!

I highly recommend Luxbar. The food, the services and atmosphere is great!!!! We ordered the salmon, crab cake and kale salad. Everything was delicious.

While visiting Chicago, we came to Luxbar on two occasions for brunch. This restaurant has a great vibe, the decor is super and the staff are amazing and extremely friendly. I had the Mezcal cured salmon benedict on the first occasion which was delicious and decided for a change on our subsequent trip to have the Avocado on toast which was also good. Definitely a great spot for a lazy brunch at the weekend!

Do not go here and eat outside. You are swarmed by bees! The hostesses don’t tell anyone about the bee issue and everyone outside has a miserable meal or ends up begging to move inside. The fresh flowers everywhere doesn’t help the situation. Looks pretty but just makes the swarm worse. They could put fans outside to keep them away but that would be too much effort. Most miserable meal we’ve ever had as we had bees in our food, bees on our straws, and bees on us. Horrible! My burger came out raw when I asked medium well. I didn’t send it back as we wanted the check to get out of there. I heard the bees are even inside too. Stay away.

Loved Alycia. Excellent service and so kind. Thank you for making sure we had a great evening. Appreciate it all. Delicious food.

Stopped by for a late dinner during a business trip. The dinner was tasty, and the service was attentive. It's not inexpensive but a nice treat.

Looking for a light, quick dinner during our sight-seeing in Chicago, and stumbled upon Luxbar. Despite a busy summer evening, we were able to secure a table outside almost immediately (it had just rained, so we got lucky...a slightly damp tush was worth it). The shrimp cocktail was enormous and delicious. Seriously, SO MANY GIANT SHRIMP. Very friendly and accommodating service. Great people-watching.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant, I had their all day breakfast, my wife her choice of meals. Staff was good, other diners friendly. Recommend this for a Chicago visitor staying in the area.

After a wild, long night at the Dead & Co. show we were in need of some breakfast and cocktails. This restaurant was a suggestion from the concierge at our hotel and we were all very happy. Great outdoor area to eat, very friendly and accommodating staff. And the breakfast was very tasty. My friends all had the Bloody Mary's and although a bit pricey said they were great! Can't wait to go back.

Celebrating midweek with an early evening and decided to try the Happy Hour offerings here. We were glad we did! Excellent wines (and a nice pour) for $5 as well as delightful and plentiful bites. We shared Truffle Fries, Pigs in a Blanket, Kale & Avocado Salad, and a single burger. It was a filling meal accompanied by 5 glasses of wine for $45.00 Couldn't beat it on the Gold Coast!

Limited but very good Sunday brunch menu. Great location, good service and good food, no a bad combination.

Stopped in for a late lunch and discovered a great 3-6pm weekday happy hour. Great service Food surprisingly good. Recommend salads, shrimp cocktail, baked pretzels. Nice place if you are in the neighborhood

This place has IT! It's in a great area, trendy decor, impeccable service, and the food is fabulous too! Had a work event here, and Luxbar made it such a delight to work with them!

We had a casual business lunch there and the food and service was exactly what we were looking for. Everything is high quality. Valet parking in such a busy area could not have been easier.

We had a fantastic dinner at Luxbar. The beer list is phenomenal, I picked out a special birthday beer to enjoy. Our food was delicious. I would recommend the hummus and the steak frites. The cheesecake was a perfect dessert. It was a great place to enjoy a meal at a leisurely pace. Service was terrific.

Had a great time. Highly recommend. Owner and staff make you feel so welcome. Go if you get the chance. Food and atmosphere are awesome.

Cannot fault this place. Amazing service and food. They also send free postcards for you which is a nice touch. We came for breakfast one day and had the skillet and pancakes. The same day we were at the beach and had awful service at Whispers (don’t go there!!) so left and came back here as we knew we wouldn’t be disappointed. Had the grilled cheese and soup and the shrimp cocktail (so many prawns, yummm!!!). We also saw the desserts menu and decided we had to come back for the Snickers Pie - absolutely huge portion but you have to give it a go. Thanks to all of the staff at this place for being so welcoming and for the outstanding service. I’d come back to Chicago for this place!

Dawson was an awesome server. He gave us excellent suggestions and history of the neighborhood and food. It was a great area and dining experience. I highly recommend this Luxbar and Dawson as your server.

We had reservations here on a Friday night. We were able to get right in an seated. The service was friendly but seemed a little on the slow side. But they were really busy that night. The food was decent, the menu isn't very big. Overall had a nice visit here.

We were looking for a place to watch the BIG game between Ohio State and Michigan and enjoy breakfast. Plus we wanted to be walking distance from the Four Seasons. I called to see if they served breakfast at noon and they did. I spoke with Ryan who offered to hold a high top table for us while we walked over. Above and beyond service. When we arrived our table was waiting for us with a reserved sign on it with our name on it. Nice touch. Our server was Susie who was both friendly and attentive. We ordered a Denver omelette and eggs Benedict. The food was served promptly. The eggs Benedict were a little cold so Susie sent another order in to make it right. The potatoes on both entrees were cooked to perfection. We have found our go to bar for Saturday game day when downtown Chicago. Thanks to all for a great experience.

We ended up at the Luxbar for dinner since it was a fairly short walk from our hotel. The atmosphere was good although the 'dress code' was all over the map; literally, I'm talking jeans and tees to suit and tie. Service was ok, definitely not anything to rave about and the food wasn't great at all. I had the fish tacos which had little flavour and I still don't really know what type of fish it was. My husband had a steak which was pan fried and thrown on a plate with fries. I would have thought based on the look of the place, the food presentation would have been a little more upscale.

Late night stop with friends. GREAT Service! Server was warm and welcoming, with terrific suggestions for food and drink. The guacamole was fresh and fabulous. Tenderloin sliders...to die for!

Our family had lunch at Luxbar. Our kids frequent the Resturant but we hadn’t been here before. We had a crab and guacamole appetizer which was wonderful. I had the lobster role which also was very good . The ladies had chicken nuggets that were all white meat and also delicious. The truffle fries were perfect. They had rose that was refreshing and reasonable. It was a delightful lunch. Will return

We were staying at the Thompson and made a reservation at Luxbar for Friday night. The place was busy and well appointed. The staff was attentive. We had an appetizer and several entrees. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food and drinks. We would definitely return the next time we are in the area.
Opposite our hotel
Staying across the road at Thompson hotel so this is a great place to eat less than 20 yards away. The food was awesome My wife had the most massive club sandwich with great fries and I had a really think beef sandwich with the most tasty earthenware pot of gravy to soak the meat and bread. The female staff are very attractive and it must be company policy they wear very bright red lipstick. You feel they have been part of the old Robert Palmer video from years ago.
