Next to Uchi, this is the best sushi place in Houston by a long shot. Everything we ordered was top, and the service was excellent. It's a people watching kind of place, hip vibe, and clean modern design. We had to wait quite a bit for our reserved table on a busy Saturday evening, but the bar cocktails were excellent, so they are forgiven. It's definitely on the pricy side, but you are getting your money's worth.

I love good sushi and MF Sushi is not just good but great. I really enjoyed the selection and quality of each dish. If your in the Houston area make the trip over, you won’t be disappointed.

This is, without a doubt, the best place for sushi. Beautiful plates and fresh sushi. Such attention to our table even though we had just had a long tiring trip and didn't dress up, we were treated to a special evening. Cocktails were excellent, but the sushi was the star of the show. I will go back

This is my first visit, going there with a friend who frequent this eatery. If you like sushi, the food is AMAZING. I have had sushi at many restaurants in the US, but never such high quality. The service and ambience is also great. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. If you are in Houston, make sure you dine here.

The restaurant we were headed to closed early, and MF Sushi was next door, so we went in. So out of lemons, we made some really good lemonade!! Loved the sushi! It was fresh and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and bright. Mostly everyone can see the sushi chefs at work as there is no wall separating them from the dining room. Would go back for sure!

This place is fantastic. The design is simple. We had them prepare our meal so we wouldn't need to think about it. Each course was perfect. Flavors were brilliant and flawlessly prepared. I want to go back to Houston just to eat here!

MF Sushi is clearly one of the finer sushi restaurants in Houston. Having lived in Japan for many years, our family are experienced judges of Japanese food, particularly sushi and related delicacies. MF Sushi is at the top of Houston’s Japanese restaurants for culinary experiences. That said, we eat out a lot and consider service to be an equally important element for a truly successful family night out. To the extent MF Sushi deserved a “4” or “5” on food, they deserved closer to a “1” or “2 “ on service. MF Sushi clearly has deeply experienced sushi chefs. Yet, from the opening encounter when you will not be seated until half your party is present, to the moment you need to ask for clean plates or soya, to the point when you need to remind the Waiter of an undelivered roll, you realize the commitment to excellence ends with the food. Sadly, this translates to an overall “3” experience, at best.

I had a delightful and special sushi dinner here. This is high end sushi at its best! The decor and layout are wonderful! I tried five types of tuna as well as wonderful and unique rolls. Service is terrific! Go if you like sushi.

I eat sushi all over the world including Japan. I have not had better sushi/ sashimi/ maki anywhere. Price is high but so is the quality. I would have liked a slightly wider list of sales but, other than that, superb experience I would recommend to all who don’t mind paying the money.

We did the Omikase and it was to die for. W had 21 chef selections and they got progressively better and intricate. Worth the cost!

During a recent business meeting, someone said, "MF Sushi is the best sushi restaurant in Houston." That's a big claim. Hard to live up to. A few weeks later I had to contact him and tell him he was right. The food was amazing. The ambiance was great. The prices were kinda high, but it was worth it. Loved everything about this place. Will definitely return!

I was never really a sushi eater until I visited this place. This is by far the best sushi in Houston. Forget about all the other sushi places you have been to in Houston. Uchi doesn't even compare to the presentation, the freshness, or cleanliness of this place. Your servers are so very knowledgeable of every dish on the menu They are polite and attentive! Your wasabi is grounded fresh in front of you! It's not the cold pasty chuck every sushi place gives you. I find myself craving sushi from this place and no other place. Once you have had sushi here you will became the ultimate sushi snob. This sets the standard for every piece of fresh fish you place on your palette!! If you don't believe me take a look at my pictures for yourself!

MF sushi has arguably the best sushi in Houston. We had a fantastic server named Nyan who offered some fantastic recommendations and service. I highly recommend MF sushi if you’re looking for Japanese food. The fish is well-sourced, not entirely traditional, but not departing as far as a lot of other restaurants as well!

It was very expensive for average sushi. The King Roll for $25 was very skimpy with the fish inside and in the outside. The truffle cream was not great on top of the roll.

Our group of four dined on a Monday evening and had the best sushi experience any of had ever dreamed. From exceptional food to the top notch service and quaint atmosphere, each of us reveled in our experience. This is not your typical sushi restaurant. They specialize in top end sushi and wagyu beef. We ordered a variety of nigiri and sashimi, though they do have rolls common to what you might find in a standard sushi restaurant. If you're in the museum district, this place is a must. You won't be disappointed.

When you visit a place that has this kind of high end sushi, the mind naturally starts to wander wander and wonder: is this the best sushi in town? While I can't definitively call it #1, it HAS to be in the top 3, and many will consider it the best of the best. If you like sushi, this is an absolute required destination in Houston.

Real and original taste of Sushi, fresh salmon and tuna and optimum combinations with veggie and spicy tastes. Elegant location, formal atmosphere, very expensive but the quality is a certainity ! I suggest to go one time to enjoy and do not wonder on the prices !

We had a wonderful experience at MF Sushi. The service was excellent, decor beautiful, and food exciting. Uni (from Japan) was a highlight. A nice evening...

Another dinner at MF, another quality meal. One of the most consistent and reliable sushi experiences in all of Houston for both food and service. The real highlight of this trip was the Baked Lobster Tempura dish that I had for the first time. Easily one of the best sushi appetizers I've ever had! That paired perfectly with the nigiri and rolls we ordered, including the tasty A5 Wagyu roll. The food took a little longer than I remember to come out, but the service was great once again. From the spot-on recommendations to the frequent check-ins, Kyle did a great job throughout our dinner. Looking forward to our next dinner at MF for sure.

This is the best sushi in Houston, hands down. Mind you that you will pay a price for it because the restaurant is pretty expensive but the freshness of the fish and the care taken into preparing it is evident. My favorites are the Kampachi, Hamachi, Shima Saba, Tempura fried shishito peppers, etc. I've never tried anything that I couldn't appreciate. Making a reservation is a must especially for parties 4 and over.

We stopped by for a late dinner. Impressed by the decor, competent friendly service and sophisticated menu. Disappointed by room temperature sushi, not particularly fresh tasting.

Best sushi I have ever tried. I am a sushi lover, and have been to many places all over the country. We tried: The Ancho, Avocado Tuna Ball, Chef's Choice Nigiri, Duck Breast, Signature A5 Wagyu Beef Tartar, Signature Himachi, Whole Hokkaido Scallop Nigiri, Signature Kinmedai, Signature Shima Aji, and Live Uni. Every item was amazing. The flavors and balance perfectly complimented the type of fish / meat. Did not need or want even a drop of soy sauce or added flavor. Great service, atmosphere, and cocktails rounded out an amazing dining experience. Yes, it is expensive. Completely worthwhile. As an additional note: limited vegan / vegetarian options. Not an issue for us, but others may need to know. Also, everything is SOOO fresh, they do not really encourage take out or carryout.

Went there while in town for the week. The service was outstanding and sitting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs in action was really something! However, it is very expensive for the amount of food you receive. This is the only reason I did not give it five stars.

Got stuck in Houston because of a flight cancellation and this restaurant made it so worthwhile. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Very extensive menu and everything we tried was amazing. Place was hopping and had a very cool vibe. Service was top notch. If I lived in Houston, I would be a regular!

We were 4 for dinner and had an extra person for a drink/dessert. We let the kitchen determine what we ate, witty the exception of 'no uni.' It was a fabulous meal. Our server ' Z' was gracious and paced the evening well. In addition to a lot of tuna varieties, we had 2 waygu beef and 3 pieces of sushi each. I'm glad I was hungry! Every detail was well executed: ponzu sauce, hand ground wasabi, micro greens. Decor is what you'd expect for a high end sushi restaurant: clean, architectural lines, light wood, with nice accents of wine (sake) bottles. I'm glad my colleague picked up the tab because I'm sure it was not cheap.

The experience at MF may satisfy one’s urge for good sushi. Uni from Hokkaido was applaudable. Otoro was cut properly. Nevertheless, sushi rolls were forgettable and were as horrific as the managers. I was there to celebrate my birthday with a very close friend. Our server Will was a professional but the manager was deplorable. I had booked MF via opentable since I had good sushi experience at MF before. However tonight, we were forced to move to two different tables on two occasions within 30 min to accommodate the walk-in Caucasian patrons. It was extremely racist and unjust to force us to move table two times during our meal to accommodate walk in Caucasian groups with the assumptions that they will pay more. Other Caucasian patrons were not asked to move at any rate. We came for a fabulous experience and we left with a bitter pill in our mouth. On a side note, our wallet was not thin and our credit score was on top 1%. Who wanted to relocate to a new table table twice with a sad offer of a round of drinks? We fully understood that maximizing money during Covid must be everything but reshuffling your very own Asian customers to different smaller tables within 30 min TWICE for milking profit from Caucasian customers is uncalled for. We will never visit this place again and would recommend you to think twice to visit this deplorable establishment.

Hands down, some of the best sushi in houston. If you are looking for a special night out, this would be the place to come. Almost all of the MF signature nigiri dishes are amazing. The toro and O toro are to die for. Next best thing to going to japan.

We went there after a museum visit, conveniently close by. The interior is zen like simple and esthetic, and the sushi bar looks different than any one I have seen before. The tables, chairs, floor and menus are made out of the same material, wood! We had several dishes, seaweed salad, sashimi salad, sushi platter and several roles. And the winner was clearly the sushi. Fresh, great tasting fresh fish and rice. My recommendation is to go for the sushi.

Yes the sushi is decent, however not of a top notch level and especially not for the price asked. Sashimi served too cold resulting in taste not evolving. We paid $400,- for 3 pax incl tip which is ridiculous. Waiters are like care sales men. Too slick, too fast, not interested in guests. Wines are decent priced, but can somebody teach Americans not to empty a full bottle in one glass. Wine is not beer, be gentle. So taste of food is not bad, but for these prices you expect ro be blown away which clearly didn't happen.

Visited MF to celebrate my friends birthday and it was an amazing omakase experience. Here is why... Sat at the omakase bar which did not have a divider which is most common at other sushi restaurants, so you have a clear line of view on the sushi prep. The ingredients are all flown in from Japan. The sushi was perfectly sliced and seasoned and came out at a great pace. The chefs were awesome, super attentive and focused on their craft, especially Chris who was serving us that night. I've dined at many sushi restaurants around the world but MF Sushi is definitely a hidden gem and easily ranks in my top 3. The decor is exquisite and this restaurant is definitely geared towards date nights and folks who really enjoy a tasteful dining experience. Their staff was super attentive, approachable and everyone was fully masked up which had their own cool restaurant logo. If you do visit this place, I would highly recommend to kick it off with omakase which unfortunately requires you to make a reservations well in advance but it's absolutely worth it!

My husband and I went there for what we had planned to be a light meal. But the sushi was so fresh, delicious and varied that we had quite a large meal, but very healthy -- fresh fish, fresh vegetables, and good drinks. There were so many good dishes -- fried soft shell crab so light, I could hardly believe they could cook it that way, yellow tail tataki with sprouts and yuzu, scallops topped with uni, uni negiri, monkfish liver negiri and many more. Service, wine, and cocktails were all excellent as well. One of the best sushi meals I have ever had.

We have went to this new sushi place on Sat hoping for a walk-in seating. While all tables were reserved they have accommodated us at the sushi bar. Everything from there onwards continued to be great, service, rolls, special and regular nigiri and even the ginger :). A definite must for sushi lovers in Houston. The fish quality and presentation easily rivals well acclaimed Uchi. I will definitely be back!

This was great and I am not a fan of Suchil. We went there for a family birthday because her choice was Suchil. And I have to admit everything was excellent. Our favorite was the avocado rolls and Nigiri. Don't miss the pistachio and mango ice cream deserts! Unusual and delicious ! Beautiful presentation.

We tried MF Sushi last night for the first time. Oh, oh, oh, so delicious! Our friends had a beer and I had a cold sake. My sake was served in a beautiful decanter that had a compartment for ice, so it stayed nice and cold. We started with some appetizers recommended by our waiter, Cardin: the Hamachi app and Tuna tataki. Both were outstanding. We followed up some nigiri: spicy salmon, tuna, and another. Then we did a spicy tuna roll. Everything so delicious and amazing—your taste buds will do a happy dance. The subtle nuances of flavors are the best I've had and I'm very picky. Stellar. I can't wait to go back again.

I enjoyed the zen atmosphere of MF Sushi. I menu has a good offering even though some items were not available (fish) at the moment. Regardless, I ordered and enjoyed the shrimp tempura. I will return to select perhaps the fish.

Great sushi in great atmosphere. Try the sushi bar to watch the masters at their craft. First introduction to uni.

If you are looking for nigiri sushi, this place is amazing. The nigiri tuna sampler is an absolute must try. The service and atmosphere are also fantastic. However, if you really want the full experience, call ahead and have the omakase.

A serious challenger to Uchi. First visit - party of 3. Great space and parking on the street if you don't need to valet. Good selection of sakes and we had only one bottle (Dragon God at $66; a reference point in "damages"). We has so many items - cannot remember each item - and all very good to excellent. Note the American Wagyu (cheaper at $45 and supposedly "less fatty" than the Japanese version) was plenty fatty. Service was flawless. Overall a memorable meal but our gut (damages with tip was $410) is that it was pricier than Uchi (difficult to accurately compare as when you are ordering 10+ different items and fish prices change daily).

My husband and I ate here twice during a visit to the Houston Museum District last week. We found everything to be delicious and of the highest quality. The nigiri sushi is the best - get the chef's choice or let your waiter choose a selection for you. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and helpful. The atmosphere is trendy but comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. Whether was because of the ambience of the restaurant, the excellent preparation and presentation, or the excellent staff—or all of it together—this restaurant stood out among other sushi restaurants we have visited around the world. What’s really unique that their 5 sushi chefs work out in the open on a low open counter so the restaurant clientele can see every step of the sushi making process. The food is pricey, but it’s worth the cost.

Firstly, its a Wednesday night and they only hold your 6pm reservation for 15-minutes. We were 25-minutes late, so fortunately I was with my boss, who is a bit tipper and is well-known to the restaurant. We sat at the bar directly opposite the chefs which prepared each course, with the skill of a master craftsman or artisan. Fresh, textual and packed with subtle favours. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful Houstonian institution.

The best sushi restaurant in Houston? Definitely a serious challenger to Uchi in terms of quality, ambiance and convenience put this classy restaurant in a league of its own.

Extra everything. Service you expect for the price, Food quality you expect for the price. They cater to upscale diners. AND they deliver! Kobe, Wagyu, real crab kane, and Lobster.

I had heard great things and decided to check it out. It is a beautiful place, but the sushi was nothing special. It looked like the creativity was focused on the cooked food. Had we gone that way, perhaps I would have had a better impression. The real issue for me was the service, which may have just been off on a Sunday night. I think I could have gotten my hot sake faster had I gone to a competitor and brought it back. It didn’t arrive until almost the end of the meal, and I did remind the waiter, who seemed to have too many tables. Normally I would not be so judgmental, but the food wasn’t good enough to overcome this shortfall.

Great sushi and nice atmosphere although it is a little pricey. We loved the tempura shrimp; deliciously crispy. Our son favorite's one, the salmon sashimi (called Sake) was so good he ate 8 pieces by himself. Make sure yu book in advance as it can get crowdy.

Good ambience. We have the testing plates and it is all great. The nigiri tuna sampler is amazing. The grilled eggplant with miso paste is great too. With the price that you are paying, I will expect a better quality green tea/ matcha. Services could be better.

Oh the debacle between MF, Uchi, and Kata Robata but if you ask me which one is better I will repeatedly tell you MF, MF, MF. Yes, I've tried all of them and I haven't written a review for Uchi but I will eventually once I try it again. I wish I could rate the food more than 5 stars but I can't. If you want to spend some money on sushi this is your number 1 go to place! Everyone has their own opinion on which sushi they like but it seems you're either a MF or Uchi fan, which one are you?! Parking: The lot has a huge surface area for cars but it gets packed FAST but they reserve plenty of spots for valet which is complimentary. Hostess: The host stand is to your left when you walk in and once you state your name they walk you to your seat. Friendly hostess. Bar: The bar is to your right and if you want a drink they have plenty of alcohol to choose from! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE their Lychee Martini. De-Lic-Ious! They mix the martini just right and it's not overwhelming with alcohol nor is it too sweet. The added Lychee is my favorite and I would wait until the end to eat it because it soaks up all the alcohol. Haha yummmmaaa! Service: Ronnie and Kyle have been my waiters every time I come here and might I add they do a superb job! 5/5 for those gentlemen. Such attentive and kind men. Highly request for them if you eat here and it's your first time. Their knowledge of the menu is extensive. Food: -Avocado ball (5/5): We got 1 order of each. You have the choice to either get salmon, tuna, OR you can have them mixed the two! My suggestion would be to mix the two just so you can have a taste of both if you've never tried salmon or tuna. Once you insert this avocado ball into your mouth..it's like an explosion. The avocado mixed with the salmon or tuna adds the most erratic flavors. I prefer salmon because I have a little obsession with salmon but my hubby prefers tuna, either or choices tastes just as amazing. -Baked Lobster Tempura (5/5): MY GOODNESS this is probably my most favorite item on the menu! I usually order 2-3 of these when me and my hubby go. Yes I said 2-3!!! Just look at the picture I post and your mouth will just start watering. The lobster is not too baked but it's baked just the perfect temperature and baked to the perfect crisp. The spicy mayo, eel sauce, and masago sauce is to die for. The added scallions to this portion just makes the dish and you'll keep wanting to dip everything in this sauce. We usually save it until we've eaten all the sauce. It has onions too if you guys don't like onions I'd suggest you take this option out. -King roll (4/5): If you want a good and basic roll this is your choice! It has both spicy salmon and tuna and it's topped with a mini dollop of truffle mousse. -Kanpachi (5/5): Mmm I love me some amberjack. The like zest mixture adds a nice touch. -Hamachi (5/5): This yellowtail dish is one of my favs! It tastes similar to the Kanpachi so if you're a fan of yellowtail I suggest you try this item. -A5 Wagyu tartare aburi (4.5/5): If you love wagyu you must try one with quail egg and one without it so you can be the judge of which one you like. I personally enjoy both but I love the yolky substance so I got 3 of these. The moment you chew into it, it just melts into your mouth. Delicious! -Uni (4/5): They didn't have live uni whenever we went but they do serve live uni. The uni was fresh. Fresher here than at Kata Robata. -Duck Breast (4/5): The presentation of this is pretty neat but let it cool off before you eat it because I made the eager mistake and I burnt my tongue. It was very moist. It wasn't really unique in my opinion maybe because I'm not a huge duck fan but if you like duck try this! -A5 Wagyu Beef Aburi (5/5): Can you say yum?? This comes raw and you cook it yourself to your taste. You can see the fatty 'marbling' in the meat. The clip I posted is how it was seared. -Mochi (4/5): It comes with pistachio, lychee, and coffee. I tried a bite of each and the pistachio was my favorite. Highly recommend this place! It's always my go to place when I want high end sushi.
Delicious!
Beautiful Modern decor. Busy place but great service. Fantastic scallops as the appetizer and spicy yellowtail sushi! A bit pricey but well worth it! Recommend!!
