We welcome tourist to this outstanding Mexican restaurant. You won't be paying for all the "pretties" on the wall bc there ain't any. Nothing fancy about it, but the food is outstanding. A lot of times, one pays for the ambience and the "place to be seen", well not here. They are not stingy with their portions, one gets plenty. BTW, breakfast is outstanding, too! We live just a few blocks from this restaurant and we eat here 3-4 times month.

My family and I have been going to Mi Rancho Alegre since it opened. The food is delicious and the family owners are attentive. The chili relleno, the empanadas, the shrimp nachos, the taco de carnitas, mole enchiladas, the tea and lemonade are ALL DELICIOUS. Prices are affordable. you pay for the food, not the ambiance. We drive 30 min and pass up numerous mexican food restaurants to go eat at Mi Rancho.

The food here was great. I had the chile relleno. It was really good, and the portions are ample. I couldn't finish everything on my plate, and I was stuffed! I highly recommend!

This is a hole in the wall restaurant where you will not be dissapointed. The chile relleno was super tender and stuffed full. The cheese enchiladas are amazing. The corn tortillas are soft and delicious. The flour tortillas are big and taste homemade. The fajita taco was very tender and plentiful. The rice and beans are delicious also. The great thing is that the food is piping hot when brought to you. The tea glass is nice and big and the waitress kept filling it. The service is GREAT... REASONABLE price for alot of food. We will return and bring friends.

You pick it, it is good. We have been eating here for years and very rarely eat Mexican food elsewhere. They have the best Caldo de Res, Menudo, Tripas, Luenga, Carne Guisada, Fajitas, etc. The place is not much to look at but the food is outstanding with a capital "O!"

The restaurant is close to the road, which is good for popping in for a quick bite! A few tacos, the tacos are ok, the staff is very friendly and pleasant, the local area is ok, the toilets are outdated.

The food at this restaurant is always very hot and delicious. The flour tortillas and corn tortillas are soft and tasty. They both taste homemade. The cheese enchiladas are amazing and so are the soft chicken tacos. The salsa and chips are fresh. The service is great. The servers are always friendly and courteous. The restaurant is very clean. You will not be dissapointed.

Mi Rancho Alegare Mexican is a few miles away from the city center, and in what didn't appear to be a very good area. We were starving, and in a city rich with Hispanic culture, we had to have some homecooked food! Once inside, we were shocked! It was COMPLETELY packed! It was around noon on a Sunday, and it was a great meal! We all got something different, and ended up sampling everyone's plate. The food was SO good! The waitresses were very nice, with basic English skills. The prices were reasonable, and when visiting San Antonio again, we will be back to Mi Rancho Alegare Mexican!

It's a hole in the wall with some of the best Tex-Mex I've ever had. The puffy tacos are amazing. Even the complimentary chips taste like they've been made by hand. This is what Tex-Mex is supposed to taste like. I wish a place like this existed in Austin, where I live. I've driven by this place many, many times and always noticed a crowd, no matter the time of day. Finally I stopped by to see what the fuss was about. The locals all know how great it is! Don't go in looking for white tablecloths and trendy dishes. But the service is attentive and the food is exceptional. Thank me later.

We were imoressed! Simple food prepared with care - delicious. We both had a lunch special (great tasting brewed ice tea came with). The guys in the kitchen seem to know what they are doing and care about what they are putting out. Hole in the wall atmosphere, but service and food quality wins the day! We recommend it if you are in the area.

Love this restaurant. It may look like a hole in the wall, but their carne guisada and their papas rancheras is the BEST I have found in SA. The low pricing is a plus too! Friendly wait staff is always a bonus.

Super, a hreat breakfast, we loved it Great tacos, Ambiance, very familly, This mexican restaurant is one of the best one, for me.

After reading the reviews I was excited to take my family for some good true Mexican food. We were disappointed. The beef tacos were turned away by my ten year old who loves tacos 😞 the chili rellano was okay, the enchiladas Verdes got two thumbs up and the warm salsa was okay. Unfortunately the friendly staff wasn't working tonight... Won't try it again.

My pals at Allstate park crossing/thousand oaks recommended this place. Let me tell you son....it was goooood! Their salsa has a warm smokey flavor and I like to pour it on everything!! Their breakfast is amazing. My kiddos LOVE the pancakes and I love the fresh corn tortillas and beans!! Their coffee in the mornin is so good it makes you want the entire pot. Thanks Mrs. Penny and Mr. Joel for the recommendation. I'm still dreaming about their enchiladas!

Awesome ! Awesome ! Awesome !! I walked in around 4pm . It wasn’t busy but it was steady . Which is impressive for around that time . I ordered a puffy taco with picadillo . It tasted like heaven . I will definitely be back & you must give this place a try

This is another one of those places that is not much to look at, either inside or out, but the food is wonderful! The chips are crispy and the salsa is served warm. My husband had the chile relleno and I had the puffy tacos with chicken. Both dishes were very tasty and the portions were generous! The refried beans actually had some good flavor to them [something I have not found at too many restaurants in Texas]. The service was efficient, although not very friendly.

This little "hole in the wall" has really good food. We will absolutely be going back, We had 4 people ans each ordered something different, and each of us were happy with our food. We went close to closing time but everything that came to our table didnt taste like it had been sitting around. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired but if you are looking for good food at a good price and don't mind a simple place that's "quaint" then you should try this place.

I have ordered the beef fajita taco several times and the food is always excellent. Service is quick and friendly. The flour tortilla is hot, fresh, and home made. The hot sauce had great taste and a good amount of heat. The meat has very good flavor and very tender. I will return.

It's kind of a hidden gem. Stuck in the middle of a not-so-awesome strip mall, it doesn't look like much, but get past that and try it. Local people recommended it to me and I'm glad I listened. Very tasty chipotle chicken enchiladas. I'd definitely go back and try the rest of the menu!

Had a chance to meet some old friends at this location upon their advice. We were immediately seated and kindly given a few minutes to spend greeting each other after not having seen each other in quite some time. When the handshakes and hugs died down the staff swooped in and got our orders. It was not too long before our table was covered in dozen or more plates of main courses and side dishes and it all looked fantastic. I wish I had taken some photos but were were busy talking about old times and stuffing our faces with such excellent food. The owners are originally from Mexico and have blended their traditional cuisine with the bold Texas flavors and have developed some remarkable tasting dishes. None of the plates were given quarter. The meals were demolished. We easily chatted a good hour with the staff waiting on us without a single hint of impatience. In fact it seemed they encouraged our presence. All around us the patrons came and went all appearing to be very happy customers. Some folks even brought in the laptops and did business or whatever in this place while they enjoyed their meals. The menu items are fairly priced and one person paying the tab for a large group will not be stressed at all. They have your standard ala cart items but they also have a wide selection of daily specials. Parking gets filled right in front of the place but there are more spots to the side.

The BEST Mexican restaurant . I have been coming here for 20 years and love it!!! The food is delicious and fresh. You must try their carne guisada tacos :)

This restaurant is the best. Not only do they have some of the best food in town the staff is so friendly it's like coming home. They always greet you like family and the smiling faces are a welcome site. Try it you'll be adopted into the family too😊👍

Is the most delicious food in SA. Not a pretty place but the food makes up for it!!Has been so good for so long and best tex mex in town.Just dont show up on Monday they are closed open all other days for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Mi Rancho es Tu Rancho
The instance of a challenge or a statement construed indirectly as such set me on a course to the other side of town. I had read a post that claimed a taco full of superlatives for a strip mall Mexican restaurant including best enchiladas in SA. I typically ignore such unsubstantiated claims and write them off to personal preference or an exaggerated projection without having tried anywhere near the estimated 500+ Mexican / tex-mex restaurants in SA from which to render such a grandiose opinion. The post had a quality about it which made it resemble more of a genuine claim rather than a boastful my-dog's-better'n-your-dog braggadocio, however. So I decided to check it out. Attempting a cross town junket in Friday traffic is not the most intelligent of strategies, but we were ready for a fool hearty adventure. Kudos to Wurzbach Parkway for facilitating an easier cross town transit than 1604. Most of these mom & pop places are "2 o'clock taco taverns", but Mi Rancho Alegre was open 'til 3. Getting down to business we had b&c nachos that were the stacked kind costing them a few presentation points as well as being served within minutes of our entree. I could possibly attribute the latter foible to the lateness of the hour and the penchant of most workers to beat a hasty exit at closing time. Nice looking plates of enchiladas were served, but the accompanying beef fajita taco was pregnant with beef and mild cebolla. Commanding a first taste from the tortilla packed full to bursting with fajita meat, the taco was juicy, tender with plenty of seasoned grill flavor; love at first bite. If I ate nothing else on the plate, I would have been fully sated. But, more pleasure was to come as I sampled an enchilada with chile con carne that I had requested instead of the usual chili gravy. Oh Jacala's where art thou? Well their enchiladas are right here. At least that was my first impression. The next few bites were a redolent incarnation of the wonderful enchiladas I had in public grade school. Impressed? I would give a resounding "yes" to that. Were these the best in SA as another post had opined? Let's just say the jury will remain out on that one until the base knowledge for my own opinion involves eating at more than the couple of hundred I sampled so far. Are these enchiladas in my top 10? Among the red tortilla, yellow cheese, chili con carne gravy topped population I would answer a most definite yes. And the beef fajitas . . . not to be missed.
