AWESOME FOOD

By 480happy2015 |

I was a dedicated Pizza Hut fan until I went to MAARS. The pizza is amazing. Even warmed up the next day (in an oven) it tastes the same. I love the food. Anything we get there is so delicious.

Food's great, bar service needs improvement

By Janie4359 |

We frequent this restaurant every time we are visiting my daughter in San Antonio. This time, there was an actual wait for a table. My daughter and I decided to have a beer while waiting. Sadly, not once while sitting at the bar did the bartender approach us. He walked by to the kitchen a couple of times, never once glancing our way. (I even had my credit card out visibly). The bar was not really busy as we were the only party on a wait list. I love the food here and the dining room service is always great. More attention needs to be guided towards the bar customers, however. Needless to say, we were called for our table before ever getting a chance to order. Once in the dining room, ILIANA O. too great care of us! She even helped me order something other than my usual and gave a great recommendation. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us frequently. We always order the jalapeno Bottle Caps for our appetizer. This time, besides a pizza, I ordered the Spaghetti Casserole with Alfredo sauce, chicken, spinach, garlic and extra cheese, per her recommendation. It was yummy! The only bad part was that my husband and daughter kept eating it, too! I love this family owned place and will continue to be a regular customer. I just will wait to order my beer at the table.

Deliciou$$ Pizza

By Teddybear57 |

Undoubtedly one of the most flavorful pizzas we’ve ever eaten, unfortunately they are damned proud of their pizza and are also the most expensive pizza ($21 for a medium Galaxy Supreme) I’ve ever bought ! They have a full menu of salad and other Italian food. They are closed on Mondays but they have a 20% discount on Sunday !!

Great service and food

By mrsllucas |

We came here by accident and found a gem!! Our service was superb and the food was outstanding! We ordered fried pickles...tangy and crispy; fried jalapeño and cheese balls...delicious! We got a 20” solar meat and took half home; it was big! Great taste and fresh ingredients. I’m pleased and know we will be back; often!

Best pizza in San Antonio

By Chris C |

I love the pizza here! They have one called the area 51 that has peporonie, jalapeno juice, Olive oil, and it is so, so good. They also have some giant pizzas if your brave enough.

Greatness

By OhhNoo2150 |

I've had their pizza and stromboli...anything besides that I can't really speak to...but I gotta say their pizza is the bees knees...savory, not sweet...they don't add sugar to their sauce...at least not by taste anyway. As for the ambiance...great location for game day, they have a bunch of tv's so you have a view of the game regardless of where you sit. Give this place a shot!

Pizza was great but you're better off taking it to go

By betty R |

We had a big party for a birthday celebration with lots of first timers. The 28 inch pizza was huge and a great value. The house salads were mediocre but appetizers were so yummy (fried pickles, mushrooms and cheesy bread)!! The food was really good! It did not take long for our food to arrive. But waitresses were just plain rude. But no matter how good the food is...snide comments and remarks will leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. Just order to go and save yourself some heartache.

Excellent family restaurant, fresh toppings, warm service

By CenTexMike88 |

A restaurant that treats you like family is worth visiting. When the owner comes out and personally asks how's your meal or how's your day you know they truly care about what their customers think and not too many places do this anymore. The pizza is better than Big Lou's. Their toppings are fresh and hardy. The dough is made fresh and the time it takes to make the pizza is worth the wait. Their Stromboli's and CalZone's are some of the best. Everything about this place makes it worth the visit and return. The wait staff is very friendly. The drinks are very cold. Karaoke on Tuesday nights with free tea 7pm-10pm, daily lunch specials make it that much more affordable and worth while. Visit and come back. You've had the rest now try the best. 46th Street can't touch this place.

Round #2 was a Hit!!

Pizza

Usually one of our favorite pizza places, but they just didn't have it today. The pizza was average. We had hardly any sauce on our pie today.

Great food

By Mare1599 |

Love the food...pizza, calzones, fried pickles... service is good. The only draw back is that the placw.os very noisy...especially when they are doing karaoke.

Great Pizza

By Lisa R |

Great tasting pizza. We ordered the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and they were served hot and delicious. Not on this visit , but in the past we ordered the banana cheesecake and it was fabulous! Just didn't have room for it on this visit. My husband loves all the T.V.'s of course!

Great pizza outstanding service

By Manny V |

On a recent trip to San Antonio a friend recommended MAARS pizza. I found the pizza to be one of the best I've ever had. The service was also outstanding. Dee was on top of it. He was very Friendly and provided exceptional service. My only disappointment is I was leaving that day, headed home, and probably won't be back soon.

Absolutely the BEST

By Elizabeth S |

Being from N.Y. I've looked for a decent pizza place that's could get close to Rays. This is the place. The staff was fast fun and friendly even worn us coming in close to closing. We love the freshness of the pizza with a wide variety of toppings to choose from. They also have regular plays of Italian food that you can order of your not wanting pizza and wings or even some very tasty cheese jalapeno bombers. They have a nice beer selection too. A must stop place if in San Antonio

Pizza from outer space!

By Bill B |

Maars Pizza takes full advantage of its name (which is a combination of the first letters of the first names of the family which owns the restaurant). The walls inside are painted with Martian themes. The pizza is good - my friend says it is her favorite pizza place - with lots of cheese which is put on top of the other toppings. Tuesday night is karaoke night.

Best pizza in SA

By AnonymousInSanAntonio |

Family owned and operated! This gem has some of the biggest pizzas I have ever seen. If you are having a pizza party, this is the place to go! They have a 28 inch pizza! The Italian Pizza rolls are an awesome lunch plate. The alien fingers (fried green beans) and fried mac n cheeze are great appetizers as well. Not to mention, their salads are always fresh and you can name your toppings. Great food at a fair price! Not bad on the wallet. You can view menu options with pricing on line.

Always excellent service and food

By Janie4359 |

Every time I visit my daughter, we must go to Maars! If you like jalapenos, you must get the fried jalapeno bottle caps for an appetizer. Last time we had cheese bread which I could have had for a meal all to myself. We have also had the stuffed mushrooms which are very good. Half the time we dine in, the other times we do a to-go order. I like dining in cause the servers are always so friendly and accommodating. Oh yeah, the pizza is great, too! You can order an 8" pizza just for yourself if you want to try something different. One of the best pizzas I've had.

Huge Pizza but Great Quality!!

By Dave E |

I don't know how they do it to make such a large Great-tasting pizza, but Maars Pizza always comes through! From the middle of the pizza to the edge, it's 100% great-tasting! You know from the first bite, that the ingredients are fresh. The pizza is cooked well, through and through. I attended a PTA meeting at my daughter's high school and they served up some great Maars Pizza. These pizzas were huge squares; probably 36" square. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. The restaurant is deceivingly large; there's plenty of room. It's very bust on the weekends, but the wait isn't long at all. The pepperoni and jalapeno pizza is great! The pepperoni and mushroom is excellent. Give them a try; you will love the pizza!!

Yum!!!

By JohnsonIV |

This is still outstanding pizza, and I finally had a chance to eat at the restaurant. It's a very good-sized place, with lots of tables and an additional party space in the back. A bar with a good-sized beer menu winds along the walls on one side of the restaurant. (I hadn't heard of it before and didn't get to try one this time, but "Rhumbero" cocktails seem to be a unique, to me, specialty of theirs.) It's generally dark but not too much so -- it fits with the space/alien theme, but there's still plenty of light by which to read the menus and such. The walls sport fun, alien-themed murals, and there's a small counter selling (I think) space-related kitsch. Several large, flatscreen TVs are on the walls. And did I mention again the amazing, flavorful pizza?! Soooo good!! The menu has lots of pasta options also. The staff is warm and friendly.

Pizza with good taste, and "Awesome" customer service!

By Spenngerz |

It was 9 PM and I was hungry for Pizza. I Google best pizza in San Antonio. From the reviews, Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, Maar’s Pizza & More, and Big Lou’s Pizza stood out. I eliminated Dough Pizzeria Napoletana for the tiny portions and high cost, and we had Big Lou’s Pizza couple weeks before, so we decided to give Maar's Pizza & More a try. First impression, the place was busy even at 9:50Pm and they close at 11:00 PM. A young man was cleaning up the floor and immediately greeted us with a warm welcome and a huge smile. We told him we were dining in, so immediately found us an empty table and cleaned it in no time, then escorted us to it. We were glad because we taught we would be waiting for a while, not so. Few seconds later, the bartender a big guy, Jimmy came over and quickly greeted us, again very, very politely and asks if this was our first time there. He took our drink order and less than a minute came back to help us with the menu and take our order. The pizza was “sizzling” hot and very delicious. My wife loves the crust. We also splurge and ordered calzone and cheese lasagna to go, but tasted them in the restaurant to assess the true flavor while it’s piping hot and fresh. Wow, the cheesy lasagna was a healthy portion, came with a huge salad (no kidding) and six topping, looks like a work of art and two breadsticks. Yes, you do get a lot for your money when you order the lasagna as previous reviewers mentioned. From just pizza standpoint, we give the nudge to Big Lou’s Pizza. For an overall, Location, Pizza, Menu Variety, Ambience, bang for your buck, “AWESOME” customer service, Maar’s Pizza & More is the clear winner by a good margin.

We went to Rome, and came back wanting Maar's!

By Andrew S |

I didn't really expect much from Maar's when I first came in, but, boy was I mistaken. Maar's is incredible - really helpful waitstaff, delicious food and unbelievable prices. I keep wanting to try something new, but the lasagna is just so amazing, I can't help but order it. Portion-wise, I eat a lot, but my wife and I share one order of lasagna between us. The lasagna is about $8 dollars, and includes an enormous salad, breadsticks, and a huge helping of ridiculously cheesy goodness of all sorts - ricotta, cheddar, perfectly cooked noodles, and a rich tomato sauce. We usually get the beef added in, but it is not necessary - just the cheese is great. Also, don't miss the alien fingers!!! This is a great, family-run place, and the waitstaff is always positive and excited to be there. As I mentioned in the title, my wife and I went to Rome for our honeymoon and had some great food, but when we came back, all we wanted was Maar's.

New word: "OMGYOUHAVETOEATHERE"!!!

By Lee R |

On a recent trip, had to keep many people fed...just with the extra huge pizzas & wings and side goodies. We ate and were more than happy! The Solar Meat, Moon Pizza & Galaxy will feed several armies! Wings were medium (large group) 3 dozen wings were finished off in record time. Jalapeno bottle caps were nice & spicy!. on next visit (well worth the return) sandwiches are on the task list! Great staff, fast service & food that is "Out of this World".

Yummo!

By Kristin W |

Amazing!!!! What a great dinner! We tried a little bit of everything and it did not disappoint - fried mozzarella, wings, pepperoni roll things, garlic knots and pizza. Great food!

Our new favorite pizza place

By jesfire415 |

Our first visit to Maars Pizza but it won't be the last. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with good service. We ordered the hot wings and they were incredible. The wings are served hot, tender, and juicy. The pizza is equally delicious with crust that is thick but not heavy. Overall a good a great meal at a good value.

Always great food and service

By Janie4359 |

We always eat here when visiting my daughter and we are never disappointed. Food is always hot, great tasting, and the service friendly. This time we had Mark, who was especially nice and treated us great. We always get the fried jalapeno bottle caps for starters, as well as the cheese bread. The cheese bread is so good and fills us up so much, that we always have half of our pizza to take home! It is casual dining with TV's and can be a little noisy, so don't plan on a romantic table in the corner. Rooms are big enough to accommodate large parties. Can't wait to go back for another visit!

Don't eat here!! Horrible business

By amarillotitus |

I witnessed employees of Maars yelling at customers in parking lot to go to pizza hut and not come back???????horrible

Great food huge portions

By Jill V |

Great pizza, friendly staff excellent appetizers. Try the cheesy bread but save room for one of their excellent pizzas. Try. The galaxy pizza for a little of everything. Nice place for a small dinner or to bring the little league team after a game.

Arrived at 11;45 for lunch. Entrance had "wait to be seated" sign and podium, but no one was available at podium. Walked to rear and employee told us to take any table. Received menu and tried to decipher the price of a pizza. Price for plain cheese pizza was listed, but none of specialty or combination pizza had a price. Menu instructed to add $0.80 for some of toppings, and higher price for others. I didn't bring my calculator to lunch. Waitress estimated the price of their specialty combination would be about $17.00. Our order arrived, and the quality was just OK, nothing to rave about. Bottom crust was under done. We will not be back.

Excellent in Every Way!

By OldTexan52 |

We have had several Geocaching Meet & Greet Events here at Maar's AND every time we come here we are never disappointed the food & the atmosphere is out of this world! From the Fried Mac N Cheese to the Milky Way Pizza which is awesome and the excellent wait staff this place is really really good and worth every penny. If you are ever in the area this is a place you must put on your to eat list, I drive almost an hour one way just to eat here it is that good.

Excellent Food, Great Inspection Reports, Excellent Service

By Jay3529 |

Live near Maar's but had never ate there until a couple of days ago. Was very surprised at the menu selections. Lots of Pizzas but also many other favorites. We had a pepperoni pizza and an order of chicken nuggets with fries. Both were excellent. Would have preferred more pepperoni on the pizza but the crust was wonderful and had an excellent favorite. I don't write many reviews where I can't find something to complain about but everything at Maar's was above expectations including the service. Our waitress was named Clarissa. I will ask for her when we go back and we definitely will. They have several events each week also. Tuesday night is karaoke night. I would definitely check Maar's out next time you are hungry.

When Quality Counts

By Rugirl |

Maar's Pizza is consistently delicious, from appetizers to entrees. Our last visit was a take out order; everything was still hot and in good condition by the time we actually got to eat it. The fried dill pickles are sour and crunchy and salty and irresistible. We also got some kind of tasty pepper things and a HUGE pizza. WE are all big eaters but we could not finish the pizza, despite it being one of the best in flavor, toppings, crust---I really cannot think of any way to improve this product. Yes, it is a little more expensive, and if I was feeding a team of Little Leaguers I'd still opt for CiCi's. However, when quality counts, you'll be quite pleased with your decision to try Maar's.

Best Pizza Ever!

By belwalker |

This little place makes the best pizza I've ever tasted. Plus, their appetizers are excellent too! Pizza is their specialty, but they make other dishes too. We haven't had anything there that we haven't enjoyed. Some of my favorite appetizers are the fried zucchini, Alien Fingers, fried cheese sticks, and the bacon wrapped jalepeno peppers.

GREAT PIZZA AND LOTS OF OTHER THINGS

By jottowag |

What a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. Non-pretenscious little place that we passed by many times in the past, only stopping this time because a friend recommended it. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking. When you walk inside, it is blue-collar-funky and dingy...but crowded. The menu is huge with everything from Pizza to hot dogs and the best calamari in San Antonio, I swear. You can order pizza any size from 8 to 28 inches with any number of toppings. Drinks very reasonable. There were six of us with drinks, appetizers and a 28 inch pizza three toppings, this came to around $40 plus tip. The pizza was as good as pizza gets really lots of pepperoni. Not only do I recommend Maar's, but we plan on making this one of our regular stops.

The BEST pizza in NE SATX

By DonnyTheOracle |

Simply put if you truly enjoy pizza but you'll order BIG BOX instead of calling this purveyor of delicious pies then you are cheating your taste buds. Treat yourself to better and fresher food.

The place is a little goofy but the food and service was good. I stopped by with three other male family members and we got a larger pizza (over 20") and their was plenty of meat on every slice.

Great Local Pizza

Looking for a local place on a Sunday evening in SATX and found this jewel. The food is outstanding and everyone was as professional and as pleasant as could be. I will go back next time in SATX.

Nothing to rave about! Pizza was edible but won't go back. Cheese, pepperoni and sauce and crust were just ok. Meatball (meteor ball) sandwich tasted like someone dumped Italian seasoning all over it

Pizza and appetizers

By Cathy P |

Came in on a Friday evening for dinner. It was busy, but we still didn't have to wait long for our food. Our server was great-making recommendations and light conversation. We had the steak-cut calamari and fried mac n' cheese and it was DELICIOUS! Not greasy or heavy and very flavorful. The 16" pizza was more than enough for our family of four and it was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. This will DEFINITELY be our family Friday night pizza spot.

Maars has set the bar high!

By LovesToTravel091986 |

MAARS pizza has ruined us. We try to eat healthy for the most part, but when we crave pizza, we can't just have any pizza. We gotta have the Maars brisket pizza. We live down the street from the restaurant so it's convenient to pick up and delicious every time! Also try the alien fingers, they are delish!

EXCELLENT! PIZZA & BRISKET.

By dd78746 |

After eating at fast food places, this reminded me of what a Good Pizza really tastes like, full of juicy flavors from the finest ingredients. Folks, if you like brisket, Maars has one the Finest - - tender, moist and lean as they come. A Gourmet Level experience - Highly recommended.

Excellent Food and Service

By Johnny N |

Pizza was outstanding...a perfect mix of thin crust but hand tossed edges... spaghetti and meatballs was amazing.. we got a side of the Alfredo sauce which was also very tasty! It's about 20 minutes from our house but is worth the drive! Prices were also very reasonable.

The real reason Elon Musk wants to go to Maars!

By vladd44 |

No doubt Maars makes the best pizza I have eaten in Texas. It may be the best pizza I have eaten ever. Others rave about the brisket pizza, but it did not really do it for me. On the other hand the Galaxy Supreme and the Solar Meat options are so good you want to keep eating long after you should stop. If you want a $5 crappy pizza, look elsewhere. But a pizza that can feed at least 4 healthy eaters for less than $30 is hardly excessive considering the quality of their product. If there is one thing to say negatively, it is the fact that it takes some time to get your pizza, but I would rather wait for quality than speedy mediocrity. I have not ventured into the menu much further, but they Maars definitely belongs in the stars. I would gave them six stars if it were an option.

The people make the difference

By The_Baron_von_Gold |

If you follow my reviews, you know I'm about value. I give very few five-star, and it is normally reserved for places that give you a ton of very reasonable price. The food at Maars Pizza is absolutely GREAT!, and the prices are VERY reasonable, but that's not the reason for the 5-star. If I only got "to-go" orders, I would probably give them a 4-star, but it's the people that make the difference. My waitress this trip was Clarissa. When I ordered 1 calzone and 2 med parmesan noodles for me and my wife, Clarissa said politely, "That's a lot of food." I changed it to a Calzone and 1 parmesan noodles, and we still had left-overs. She said adding chicken made the noodles a lot better, so I added it, and again, she was 'spot-on'. Clarissa made a good dining experience into a Great Dining experience. She was attentive, but not intrusive. In short, she was perfect. The owner stopped by our table, as well as most tables, to make sure everything met expectations. The man was humble and gracious. He appeared to be the kind of man I would like for a neighbor. It really is the people that make a difference.

Awesome pizza, great flavor, delicious, seasoned to perfection !! Stromboli is great too. Great food. Mini salad is tiny, but pizza is filling. Great friendly staff as well.

Great Pizza!

Did a carry out of the veggie pizza and wings. Both were excellent. Great pizza sauce. Wings were perfectly done and very meaty. Staff was excellent and explained items on the menu. Will be back for more!
