Amazing brisket

By Kevwan |

We popped into Mables for a Sunday afternoon BBQ meal and were very pleased. Mables wasn't cheap but the quality of Barbecue was great. 1/2lb brisket on a platter with cornbread, coleslaw, Mac n cheese and bread was $18. Really recommend this place, I think it would be great for a night out with the guys!

Unexpectedly good

By Khemraj S |

Stumbled upon this place after the wife and I went searching for a place to eat. The ribs were awesome. The place was clean and staff was very friendly. Will definitely check it out next time I’m looking for a good ribs spot.

A speedy little dive-esque BBQ joint w/amazing food

By SpruceCroissant |

Basically some of the best BBQ I've had. I ordered a brisket sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese, and it literally came out about 4 minutes after I ordered it. The sandwich was simple, yet terrific and the Mac & Cheese was rich and creamy. Great beer selection to make matters even better and a close proximity to both the Brooklyn Brewery and a park with great views of the city

No fries

By Gordo620 |

The food in this place is fantastic. I loved every mouthful and it has a kick to it which I love. It's cool inside and in a great location. The choice of beers is ok, and the staff were pretty friendly. I'd definitely go back, the one thing I was surprised at and a bit disappointed was that they don't do fries. In America I thought all places would do them! But really good nonetheless.

Excellent BBQ and Brews

By Richard O |

Hard to believe but Brooklyn has an outstanding authentic BBQ place in Mable's Smokehouse. The beers on tap are all local brews and compliment the great smoked meat options perfectly. The brisket is outstanding, melt in your mouth with a nice but not overly done smoked flavor. Ribs are very meaty and the sauce is slightly sweet but is used sparingly to allow the meat flavors to come through. Pulled pork is perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy with a little bark on it to give a nice crunch texture. The sides were great and the mac and cheese in particular was perfection. Collard greens also another favorite as was the potato salad. Ambiance is what you would expect in a Texas roadhouse with lots of wood tables, friendly atmosphere and service. We hung out, drank more beer and had a great evening.

Expensive for the quality

By Rufino C |

Nothing out of the ordinary for this smokehouse's food. Ambience was good. Apple cider was expensive at $6.

Searching for BBQ? Look no further!

By bester_tester94 |

Finger lickin' ribs, delicious sides, a wide variety of beers for reasonable prices. Forget about Fette Sau and other Hipster-hangouts!

Good Ribs Not Great

By Mike4TraveI |

Enjoyed the pulled pork and brisket. The portions are certainly generous. You will not feel as if you overspent here. You order at the register and they deliver to your table. Communal tables are available in a casual, laid back atmosphere. The barbecue is good not great but I would definitely go back.

Good Enough

By Chickenhawk12 |

This place is adequate to satisfy a taste for bbq. However, it is not worthy of a return. They have limited side options and are significantly understaffed.

Devoured it all in 2 minutes!

By Charlotte V |

We came in here after a brooklyn brewery tour starving! Food arrived quickly and was delicious as were the sides- try the corn bread. Only downside were the smallish portion sizes but maybe we're just being picky!

Great

By Amanda R |

I had a pulled pork sandwich with cornbread. It was delicious. Staff and atmosphere was great! Well done.

Great southern barbecue

By teedot66 |

To set this up properly, we had just run a half marathon and were famished and thirsty. We strolled upon this place after having a beer at Brooklyn Brewery. Are we glad that we did. The pulled chicken was succulent. The cornbread muffins were moist (could have been a little sweeter though), and the mac and cheese was dynamite. Add to that a decent draft beer selection and it was a great meal.

Tasty Meat and Vegetarian Dishes!

By StormingTheCastle |

My family loved this hip, chaotic Brooklyn eatery. We started with drinks at the bar which were reasonably priced. On to the meal: first of all, the meat eater in our group loved the pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Two of our party are vegetarian and thoroughly enjoyed the veggie Sloppy Joe's. It's a real treat to find a great vegetarian main dish in a BBQ joint. In addition to the mains, we ordered a number of sides including the mac-n-cheese, house-made pickled Beets (which were nice and spicy) and the Borracho Beans. All were excellent! Finally we finished our meal with slices of both the Key Lime and Peanut Butter pies. I highly recommend this place!

Excellent meet at a 3rd of Manhattan prices

By spasci |

We found out about this restaurant via Timeout, while looking for a restaurant where to eat in Williamsburg. The food was excellent, the meat was so tender and tasty, the sides good too. All in a down to earth and relaxed atmosphere. A taste of what you would expect America to be like outside of Manhattan. Finally, big portions for a very reasonable price. We got the deluxe platters (3 meats 3 sides) to share between 2 was way enough for dinner! Price with drinks (beer/wine) 44 dollars. I would definitely recommend this place!

Good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

By kbk |

As a 'manhattanite', I typically feel like I have all the food, and different cuisines I could want, at my fingertips. So I didn't 'travel' to Williamsburg for the food...however, while there, I was excited to try Mabel's because I was told that the veggie sloppy joe was worth it - and being a vegetarian, I get excited by good, hearty, veggie food choices! It was definitely good...and I would go back for that alone, but the sides and what my boyfriend ate weren't out of the ordinary from any other BBQ place we have near us in the city. If you're in that neighborhood though, it's a good stop, and has an authentic feel...but not worth a separate trip.

just ok

By cjftsh |

We visited last wednesday for lunch, we made a special journey over from our stay in Manhattan just to go to Mables as we wanted good barbecue and the reviews were very good on trip adviser, all i can say is it was very average the brisket very nice, the pulled pork ok and the ribs very tough not falling off the bone as expected, all the sides and the meats were warm not hot and again nothing special, would i return and recommend no.

Great ribs!!!

By Climber16463964113 |

We're from out of town and was staying at a local hotel. We wanted authentic southern fare and Mable's delivered. Ribs was awesome and the drinks weren't bad either. Prices very reasonable. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly. I wished we lived closer because I would definitely go back. I asked if they do mail orders but alas, they said they don't. So sad.

Gross

By djazzie |

I’ve traveled through several southern states and I’ve enjoyed really really good BBQ. With these good memories I entered with my Italian friend. Excited as we were we ordered a De Luxe platter to share and try all different styles of meats and sides. I was embarrassed from the moment we got the plate. Everything is served in paper or plastic materials. The pulled pork looked dry and chunky, the ribs didn’t look juicy and the sausage looked rubbery and way to greasy. The sides were equally looking disappointing. Mac&cheese overcooked and no crusty crust or any effort to make it slightly look appetising. The meats were all dry and over smoked the portion was small for two considering to other bbq joints I’ve been. The taste of everything was just dryness and overly smoked. As a cook I would never dare to serve this. I can’t believe he even tried what he served us. The waiter was cold, we couldn’t get any interaction. We paid since we were freaking hungry after our travels from Europe and the tour in the next door brewery. But we’ve never felt so gross after a meal.

Great at atmosphere - food was good. Filled the void. Sides a bit meh

By michsally |

Lovely vibe. music choice was great. had the pulled chicken which was great. the side options were ok but could have been larger. recommend the bbq beans.

Lets Talk Ribs

By Paul C |

What you need to know: Ribs fall off the bone and taste amazing. Customer service was fantastic. Atmosphere no issue. Ribs - Amazing. Go there. Go there now.

They smoked their Kielbasa Sausage!

By SweetHeat |

The food was great! It was a quiet night their, but can definitely tell that it could get quite busy... Everything we order was spot on with the exception of the macaroni and cheese... I was looking for some southern home mac n cheese we were left short, bu it nevertheless they substituted for more greens!

Best brisket I have ever had!

By Darren B |

Great wait staff, fast service, reasonable price, fantastic menu and food! Very impressive BBQ. Upon arriving, we were seated immediately for a late lunch on a holiday weekend. Our waitress was friendly and informative and although busy, never seemed to be in a rush to finish a conversation. Open kitchen format with incredible tastes and smells. Food came out fast and was beyond expectation.

Tasty

By Ammc |

We had ribs and brisket and pulled pork. Delicious sauce on the ribs.brisket was very tender and the pulled pork was tasty. We liked the rib sauce so much we bought two jars. The coleslaw and potato salad were really nice but we are not into mac n cheese so cannot say whether it was good or not. We would definitely visit again and recommend it.

Amazing BBQ in Brooklyn!

By BillySalts |

Man... There's nothing I have but love for Mables! Located in Hipster Willamsburg, this place is perfect for beer, shots of alcohol and of course, perfectly smoked BBQ. I came in during the afternoon and had the place to myself. I quickly ordered a beer on tap. Oh and beers? They have a extensive list of both tap and bottled beers. I'm given a lunch menu and I zero in on the brisket sandwich. I also ordered the Mac & Cheese. Now, M&C varies from place to place. Mables Smokehouse (Don't forget the Banquet Hall) specializes in smoked BBQ meats. Why make a yucky M&C??It was like eating slugs, velvetta cheese and elbow pasta. No flavor whatsoever, I should have ordered the beans. Mables Smokehouse is known for one thing, its a smokehouse. And man oh man do they encourage smoking at home. The brisket sammy was loaded with Deelish brisket that was smokey, fatty, meaty and so flavorful. A total 10 out of 10. Also, eating at the bar was a little strange, The bar has this wooden "lip" that doesn't allow the tray to be close to you. Mables Smokehouse is a fun looking place with plenty of wooden picnic tables to eat the fab BBQ. Oh yeah, its made in Brooklyn baby!

Dinner with friends

By billym2611 |

visiting with a group of 8 guys , the food was very good with the self ordering at each of the bar and food counter . Relaxed atmosphere offering something different outwith Manhattan .The Ribs were excellent as was most of the sides . Reasonably priced . A mention must go to the staff who were most friendly and accommodating even with a group of 8 rather noisy men . Special mention to the manager ( whose name I forget ) as she she was excellent and "jessie" who even came outside to sort out our taxi ( or maybe that was just to make sure we were leaving ;-) )

fabulous

By suecoppola |

first if you are driving parking will be a challenge. we went on a late afternoon rather than buck the parking issue. that being said the bbq was really good, we split a deluxe meal (3 meats and 3 sides) and a reg meal (1 meat, 2 sides) and it was enough for 4 of us. The brisket was nice, the pulled pork was lovely but the ribs were some of the best we have ever had. The mac and cheese and the potato salad were also very very good. it is worth a trio to broolkyn.

Awesome

By BG1212 |

Good stop before or after Brooklyn brewery. Good beers and a real smokehouse. Smoked wings were awesome.

Average!

By Katherine Guyot |

Saw this place as we had a tour in the brewery next door and looked it up and reviews looked good so booked! The food was good but not excellent I’m afraid! The ribs were the yummiest definitely. The buffalo wings were smoked which I haven’t had before so was interesting. The sides, for example the mac and cheese weee not great at all. Tasted like a pot you put in a microwave. Overall ok but won’t go back!

Great atmosphere!

By cem1960 |

First time and won't be the last. Food was amazing. Prices reasonable and atmosphere is fun and lively.

Good food

By Sandra P |

We ate the brisket and the pulled pork sandwiches, they were really good and they had a great bbq sauce. Mables also had an awesome key lime pie 👌 We ate at 2 pm so it was chill!

Impressed

By kingswain |

Was glad I experienced this place. Food 10 out 10 would recommend. I wanted American Bbq and decently got it

Hopefully things will be better on 2nd visit

By Christopher S |

You really can't go wrong partyin' in Brooklyn..especially during Fourth of July. My wife found this Smokehouse online. We are glad we had tried Mable's. We made reservations for 7:30 pm. So of course (since this was a holiday), parking was TOUGH. I had to park by Mccarren Park and we walked about 3-4 blocks to this place. Even though we had reservations, we still had to wait at the bar (since our table was not available) for about an hour. The hostess was apologetic and told us that they ran out of beef brisket. It was ok since I wanted the ribs. The first two rounds were on them..which was great! We both had the spiked cherry lemonade which was very good and refreshing...especially since it was a hot and humid day. I then had ordered a Mint Julep..which was pretty watered down. We sat at our table and then ordered the 3 Meat De Lux Platter (consisting of: Andouille sausage, pulled chicken. St. Louis Ribs, two slices of bread, cornbread, BBQ baked beans and mac n cheese). The winner in this platter was the St. Louis Ribs. The beans needed more flavor and the mac n cheese wasn't creamy at all. We could not finish everything. When we left...we saw people running towards the water..it was time to see the fireworks! Would we come back to Mable's again to eat? Yes..we will give them another shot..especially to try their brisket and order dessert (we were so mad for forgetting dessert). To walk about 4-5 blocks from this restaurant to see the fireworks...that was worth the visit!!

BBQ BRUNCH

By Ashli M |

I came for brunch to celebrate my birthday with my friends and had a great time. I was very impressed with the food. I had the collard greens, potato salad, and pulled pork. I am a pulled pork lover and it was quite delicious. My friends had the jalapeno corn cakes and we all ate off each other plates. Next time I go, the corn cakes will definitely be my order. The drinks were nothing special. I was a bit disappointed with that,

Heavenly ribs

By Deolinda |

Wow, the ribs and candied yams were amazing. Service was really friendly and professional. Really loved my visit to your resturant. Would definitely return

Great BBQ in the middle of Brooklyn

By Barry R |

A very cool place with fabulous bbq the brisket with their special bbq sause was melt in your mouth wonderful served with great side like cornbread, two types of baked beans, collard greens and pickles. Wooden tables, funky decor and a great bar. Lots of fun

Was good BBQ the Brunch menu was a surprise. I felt that getting a full BBQ menu on the weekend would have been better but the food that was gotten was very good.

Best BBQ in Brooklyn

By HannahMT1 |

I went to Mable's for lunch on what must have been the hottest day of the year, the place was pretty quiet and I got served immediately. The barman was really friendly, talked me through the beers and the meat options. I went for the platter with brisker and pulled pork with a side of mac and BBQ beans. The meat was incredible, really tender and well-seasoned and the sides had just as much flavour. For a Brit I thought the portion sizes were really big, it looked like I'd barely touched my food by the time I left. I couldn't recommend Mable's highly enough, great atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is out of this world.

The food was super delicious.

By Elisa S |

Food was great. I went on Valentines so we needed to order food at the desk vs at the table. I was surprised by it. For me wasn't a romantic experience. Again food was excellent.

Great Find!!! My new favorite BBQ in Brooklyn:)

By koolkmd |

The food was great, the beer section was great, and the general feel of the restaurant was really cool! My wife and I loved this place. We can't wait to share it with special friends:) Really cool neighborhood to boot. We plan to make this a regular hangout spot. If you like good BBQ and good drinks, don't miss this one:)

Good grub!

By luvscigars |

Did the sampler & gotta say, they know their meat! Not cheap, but not overpriced (we shared, plenty of food. Bartender could have been a bit more outgoing (seemed more interested in her phone than be chatty. Would recommend however!

Good

By Kevin C |

Good BBQ place - pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken... Good service although no fries and could do with a better range of BBQ sauces.

A good night out!!!!!

By Chall33 |

I was with my family and two of our friends so we ordered two deluxe platters! I have to say that platter was epic and great for kids and families that like meat. Great atmosphere and service. The food was great. The beer was awesome and the key lime pie was tastier than I've tasted ever!!! And after we had finished we got a taxi back to Manhattan and saw a wonderful view.

Delicious and good value for Money

By Craig B |

Been here a few times now for dinner with friends. Sat at the bar and ordered. Had the pulled pork, with mac n cheee, corn bread and also includes other sides like pickles, jalapenos, bread and a cup of slaw for $16.95. Lots of food and really delicious. Great vibe and place to kickstart the evenng for a night out in Brooklyn

Best BBQ we ever had

By gary91214 |

I didn't think the food was too expensive but I did think it was fantastic. You didn't need to use sauce as the meat was very moist. The flavor was fantastic and perfectly smoked. My daughter says she wishes she was Oprah so she could order her minions to fly to NY for great BBQ whenever she wanted. The only con was the fact that they use really crappy paper plates that become soggy and useless about 3 seconds after placing food on them. This is for some sort of atmosphere/authenticity thing but I just think it is annoying. Great BBQ doesn't need stupid things like crappy paper plates. pap

Post Brewery Feast

By Whitley-Traveller |

We stopped off here after a visit to the Broklyn Brewery. Food and drinks were excellent value. We shared a De Lux platter with double ribs. The ribs were superb. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Authentic and delicious

By Stewart L |

The brisket and St Louis style ribs are the best. Great sides and beer selection at a reasonable price. A pleasant surprise; we'll be back.

Great smokehouse in Brooklyns Greenpoint

By Radu-Mihail O |

This very cosy smokehouse in Brooklyn is great: it has a wonderful rustic décor, assorted music and excellent smokehouse food. Portions are big and tasty. Highly recommended.

plenty of yeehaw, with good ribs and 'slaw

By pam_redboots |

went in a party of four. we had intended to go to 'rub' in chelsea, but a careering hummer put paid to that. headed to billyburg for 'fette sau' and the queue [line] was down the street. my son insisted it had to be bbq; no sustituting vietnamese or thai... so we headed here, to mabel's. food was generous and delicious. we ordered a special platter, then got extra ribs, and went back for more of the amazingly good potato salad. they serve brooklyn beer from the brewery almost next door. the seating is on long, communal tables. the decor is 1890's western; you expect john wayne to roll in at any second. clientel were a good mix of hungry people. what impressed me most was the excellent choice of music. there were some rare recordings of 1930's bluegrass, and many unusual artistes from the western genre, interspersed with some down-home country songs. nothing hackneyed or trite, just good music which has passed the test of time. no 'somebody done somebody wrong' songs here! one of the best nights out of our trip. as a bonus, we walked down to northside piers where my son used to live, and a magnificent firework display, on the other side of manhattan, lit the new york skyline...

A Surprisingly Good Lunch

By Ian D |

Wandering around Brooklyn on a Saturday afternoon, we came across Mable's and ventured in. This is a large place over two floors and I was initially put off by the fact that this might be a Country and Western joint. Luckily, as a C & W hater, it was quiet. We were shown to a table quickly and told how to order. You have to go to a counter to order and collect your food. We tried the brisket which was very, very, good; while the ribs were large and a trifle disappointing. While tasty they could have done with a longer marinade. The sides of BBQ Baked Beans were excellent while the Creamy Mac n' Cheese was a cold and dry disaster. Perhaps we should have arrived at a busier time of day. The bar tried to be too trendy. I tried the Black Lager, but was forced to drink it from a jar with a raised rim! Glasses are fine for drinks guy's, keep the jars in the kitchen.

good atmosphere!

By ardicci |

We were in Brooklyn and we chose this place by chance but it was a good choise! The atmosphere is really good and relaxing. People that work there are really nice! The food was excellent, the meat was so tender and tasty. I like the style of this restaurant, the side close to the restroom is singular!!!

Go with a BIG appetite!

By Johnno56 |

Went here twice on our visit to Manhattan it's THAT good! Not a good place if you don't like meat; beef, pulled pork and ribs just melt in your mouth and whatever they put on those ribs is finger licking good! Good choice of beer, great atmosphere! One not to miss!

Great ribs

By Sandy |

Easy going relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. We dropped in here after visiting the Brooklyn Brewery. I had the best ribs I've had in a long time, meaty and tender. Generous portions and a good choice of beer on tap.

Visiting son for summer vacation

By Jolene W |

Son and I wanted barbecue. We had a great supper. I highly recommend if you like barbecue. We had brisket, barbecue ribs and pulled chicken...barbecue beans corn bread and collards. Also coleslaw bread pickles and hot relish came with meal. Fun place nice waitress/bartender.

Best ribs i've ever eaten

By Geoggy08 |

If you love BBQ, then as soon as you walk in you will know you've made a great decision. The smell is incredible. We had the Ribs platter with a choice of sides - all sides we had were really good - our favourites were the beans and the beets, but the Mac cheese also excellent. Great bar with excellent beers, monster gin and tonics (ask for them in a pint glass) and lovely friendly staff. We visited just after the Brooklyn Brewery Tour as this is literally next door, and we enjoyed it so much we went back 2 nights later. And it was as good!

Ate the ribs, bought the t-shirt

By PollyMcGee |

Classic smokehouse and ribs joint, and a good one at that! Not far from Brooklyn Bowl so you can build up an appetite then head for some ribs and sides. Generous portions of all your favourite 'que with a selection of sides to jazz it up. Local beer on tap and a good selection of bourbons. And great t-shirts!

Mouthwatering platter

By Bianca |

We stumbled across this place on the way to Wythe hotel and we were not disappointed! We had a platter with a selection of meats and sides and every single item was fresh and delicious. The ribs were to die for and were just falling off the bone so don't miss out!

Great BBQ and great location

By jhilton14 |

Typically, I don't associate good barbecue with Brooklyn, but Mable's has it covered. The atmosphere is cool, the beer and whiskey selection is decent, and the food was quite good. I had the brisket with cornbread and I wasn't disappointed at all. I have had BBQ in a lot of places, and the prices here are very comparable. Additionally, the staff is super friendly and the restaurant is situated among some other great places to visit, especially the Brooklyn Brewery (a 1 minute walk).

Proper American Smokehouse

By Schanzboy |

Mable's is just next to the #BrooklynBrewery, the HQ of #VICE and a few steps from the Brooklyn Fleamarket. It's a fantastic American Smokehouse with really helpful and friendly staff. The food is absolutely yummy and definitely what you expect from a typical American Smokehouse. We would definitely come back here and eat some more Ribs :)

Great time at Mables last night food was amazing

By stevielin |

Over the moon or those ribs !!! Everything we ordered was wonderful stopped in before show at brooklyn bowl . Great music playing and perfect comfort food for a cold night in a homey atmosphere where you really feel the love that went into creating this restaurant

By Relax824477 |

The staff is friendly. I came for the lunch all you can eat ribs special. The ribs were properly cooked and tasty. I will return.

Excellent food

By Islands |

Second time we went there and the food is excellent! We ordered the wings as n appetizer and were pleasantly surprised how good they were. There were 4 of us and we got meat platter double brisket (had to pay more for double brisket but well worth it), chicken, corn bread and beans. I don’t eat cornbread but they say it is the best cornbread they ever had. Definitely worth going to.

If you like ribs and a smokehouse

By MagsSue |

If you are into this type of dining this is a place to great. The décor was made by the owners and adds to the environment.

Good american barbeque

By Gunilla R |

We were planning to visit the Brooklyn Brewery, but it was closed. Instead we had lunch at Mable´s which is next door. Mable's was suggested to us by the bus driver on Brooklyn. We have pulled pork, very tasty, not too sweet, with Mable's own bbq-sauce. Good staff, nice and helpful, and the interior was very suitable for the food that was served. All in all we can strongly recommend it.

Very good food, reasonable price!

By Jody T |

My partner and I went here on a Monday night for dinner, there were no lines at all, straight to the bar to order. Food took 10mins to come and was very nice. We ordered a platter (one meat and two sides) and an extra meat which was the perfect amount for the two of us. We got the ribs and pulled pork which were both delicious!!! The mac n cheese was average but the meat made up for it. For this meal and two drinks (one beer and a soft drink) this cost us $45 including the tip. We left feeling very satisfied with our choice!

****SUPERB****

By SazaSalter |

We couldn't wait to eat here having read and heard reviews from close friends. This is all it's cracked up to be. Nothing fancy - so don't expect that. Just good old southern food. I had the pulled pork, my partner had the ribs. The sauces were absolutely delicious, the sides were also great. You get a lot of food for your money here and it's worth the experience. We even bought the bbq sauce they had on sale! Go for lunch or dinner, but just go!

Excellent BBQ

By rockydotdom |

After leaving Tennessee, we were unsure if we'd sample great BBQ again, but this place did a really great job for our party of 4 on a busy Saturday night. Stand outs were the ribs and the sides, while the brisket did not quite reach the heights of Martin's BBQ in Nashville. It was still very tasty. Good beers and a lively atmosphere, this place is a great option for NYC visitors wanting to sample good bbq.

Texas Arkansas Style with a smile

By Iratdog |

Been here a few times lately. Right around the corner from The Brooklyn Bowl. Absolutely excellent food here. Great beer too. I like this better than Dinosaur up in Harlem. Don't get me wrong, nothing but kudos to Dinosaur but this is more to my liking. Ribs are amazing, the brisket is fine, the sauces are on point. Sausage on the side wasn't the absolute best, but hey, I'm good with that. Not too expensive either.

Excellent bbq!

By Invasor |

Ribs fall off the bone, brisket was tender, beans were slamming, no complaints about this place! Definitely would go back!

Awesome BBQ

By kmickyd |

We came off a 1 week cruise and my BBQ crazed 16 year old son was craving pulled pork, brisket and bacon and my 90 year old mother in law was having dreams of BBQ ribs so we headed over to Mable's Smokehouse in Williamsburg. The pulled pork is out of this world delicious, the brisket melts in your mouth (it's the best I've ever had) and the ribs satisfied my mother in law. I did find the ribs to be a little spicy but she loved them. Unfortunately, no bacon on the menu however with all the other delicious choices it was not missed. The sides were hearty and pretty good. Be prepared for a significant hit on the wallet. The pulled pork is $20 a half lb, the brisket is $21 a half lb and the ribs are $24 a half slab. Enjoy!!!

Great food at a reasonable price

By Hazel O |

We are staying just down the road so will probably return to try out some other dishes - the ones we had were lovely! Tasty pulled chicken, good mac and cheese and the corn bread was warm and delicious!! Very smokey tasting ribs.

Great taste, fast service, fair prices in cozy BBQ joint

By MRSlowLoris |

We live close by and have been going at least once a month for four years. The food is great, especially the pulled pork and Mac and Cheese. The service is fast and you don't need reservations and can go with a large group. Since the food comes fast, its usually a place you don't go for longer than an hour, so maybe not ideal for a longer date. But for groups or a quick dinner its great. The place also has a full bar.

So good!

By Raven |

We only entered Mable's to get a couple of quick beers but after smelling the food in the air we knew we had to eat here! We ordered the brisket and the pulled pork sandwich, which were both great! And the coleslaw was delicious, among all the other yummy sides we devoured! I would recommend stopping by for lunch if you're looking for a quieter atmosphere as it did get much busier around dinner time. And if not for food then just for some drinks served by their friendly, smiling staff.

Delicious BBQ - must eat in Brooklyn!

By Charlotte S |

I came with a couple of friends and we all loved it so much - they even came back again in the same week after I had left NY and I was so jealous! All the meats were so incredibly tasty and the sides were awesome. Love those big trays full of BBQ goodness! Fantastic for sharing, as you get to taste so many delicious things. If you're in Brooklyn - you must eat here! It's definitely on my list to come back to when I next go to NY.

Nice but not filling

By Deano T |

Came here after me and my partner went on a tour of the Brooklyn brewery. The food was nice but for the money we paid I was expecting a bit more. You get different selections of meat but I left still feeling hungry

Lunch

By fashiondiner |

One of the few places you can get familiar BBQ in Brooklyn!! Not fancy and not trying to make a good old recipe into some gastronomical feat, just good BBQ, not the best I have ever had but definitely the best that Brooklyn has to offer

cheated

By didntwannagothere |

my daughter had her wedding reception here. the staff was pleasant but they conveniently claimed that the appetizers were not delivered to them and they substituted pork ribs for the brisket that had been contracted for while they sliced brisket for takeout and delivery. they also told guests that requested a third rib from the buffet that they couldnt do it because they werent sure that they had enough to go around. additionally the servers did not volunteer information about the vegetarian choices that had been arranged for.

Great restaurant in Williamsburg

By Pam B |

Excellent food and reasonable prices. We had the pulled pork with a side of delicious brisket. A mix of tables, chairs and vintage decorations make it a fun place to eat. Make sure you use the restroom. They have a really cute community sink.

Tasty Southern Comfort

By Matthew R |

Have been twice so far. The first time was packed, but the second time, I was served within 10 minutes of placing an order. The pulled pork is savory, with "melt in your mouth" qualities. Also, be sure to not skimp out on the sides; especially the bbq baked beans and mac and cheese. Additionally, the bar right smack in the middle of the restaurant is a great place to have a beer while waiting for your food

Go there!!

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.......awesome I still dream about the beef brisket and their BBQ sauce!

Great place, food very good not great

By Sogreche |

Great vibe of a place with helpful staff. The food is very good but does not quite reach the depths of flavour that a good smokehouse requires. Still worth it though!

Oh, man! Yum.

By dsill |

This barbecue was wonderful. We only got to sample because we were on a food tour of Brooklyn, but we WILL return. We had pulled pork, ribs, and beef. All delicious.

A slice of Americana

By Beverly G |

I'm no expert on American BBQ however Mable's seemed legit! It serves Texas style BBQ, although I have to admit I don't really know what that means - I was kinda looking for the kind they serve in San Francisco, and this was different... Anyway after a long plane ride and a craving for genuine American BBQ fare, we decided on Mable's after a bit of online sleuthing. We took the train over to Brooklyn, however it didn't seem like much was happening in the neighborhood (Williamsburg) where Mable's was. It was very quiet on a weekday lunch hour, however service was great, and the food was pretty good.

Great ribs, lush cocktails..

By MakemycakePenny |

My hubby wanted ribs on our last night in NYC following a visit to the Brooklyn Brewery. We were not disappointed at all, the ribs were great as were the sides. We decided to follow up with cocktails which were great too but we had little memory the following day - enough said!

For serious BBQ Lovers Only!

By FrankieTa |

I'm an ex customer of Fette Sau the place that kinda originated the BBQ craze in Brooklyn a while ago and it was rated as of the best BBQ joint in the Tri-State area. NO MORE! This is the place for pork ribs and beef brisket.Forget the rest and just have those two types of meat here; collard greens and potato salad are also really good while other sides needs some improvement. Beer selection is not the greatest also but it is acceptable. To top it a very nice customer service.Enjoy! PS Extremely busy on weekends.

Great BBQ in Brooklyn!

By davyd83 |

Was enjoying Brooklyn as I wandered by Mable’s. The food was wonderful. Lauren took great care of the service and the experience was outstanding. I spent a lot of time living and traveling around the South. Mable’s ranks right up there for great BBQ!

Can't stop thinking about this place!

By Tim C |

Ever have one of those meals where you stop mid-bite and cherish the moment, hoping it will never end? This is one of those places. High on my list, should be even higher if you are visiting the Williamsburg area.

Delicious

By garymorlock |

Our party of 7 enjoyed all the great meats and sides. Wonderful atmosphere - accommodating and friendly service. Highly recommend!

Who'd have thought?

By E251KQjohnb |

We were on the Brooklyn Food Tour and one of the stops was Mable's. Even though we along got a sample of their food, it was outstanding. It is right next to the Brooklyn Brewery. We learned the Owner's hand made all the interior finishes which gives the place a good comfortable vibe. They had live music while we were there which also was a nice touch. Good food, good beer, and good hospitality. Who'd have thought you would find this in Brooklyn.

Best Ribs Ever

By Yannick S |

I'm a big ribs fan and those have been one of the best i've had in my life. Good staff Excellent Food .

Saturday evening dinner

By Maria Irene P |

Came across this place as we had just left a show in the neighborhood. We ordered pulled pork sandwich with collard greens, brisket and chicken combo (the chicken was eh) with beans and potatoe salad, guacamole with chips, and 2 other chicken dishes. For drinks we ordered beers. Great service and good food.

BBQ at its best

By Dharm P |

What a great smokehouse. Informal dinning, and meat that packs a punch with flavour. Good beer on tap also. We had the pulled chicken burger which hit the spot. Smooth chicken with a sweet BBQ sauce. The mac n cheese was a little disappointing though. This is a perfect place to stop especially if you have visited or going to the brewery next door. The food will do the talking! The staff a generally pleasant and friendly. Oh and on the plus side it has a sink to wash your hands and more than one toilet!

Good place to hang out - promising ..

By Manokalathil |

It was mid-day sunday when we decided to stop by at Williamsburg and find a place for brunch. After we discovered that the usual places had a long wait time, we reluctantly entered Mable's. You see we have a rule - if the restaurant doesn't look busy, then we don't go in. In this case, we broke the rule because the place looked welcoming and my wife will eat ribs even if was served under a bridge by aliens. We didn't regret breaking that rule - the bartender was warm and welcoming - talked a bit about the history (one year old) of the restaurant. Even though ribs are available only after 3 PM, we decided to taste their pulled pork and brisket. The brunch portion sizes are smallish, so double up on your orders. We drank local - like next door, local - beer from the brooklyn brewery. The food was good and we will definitely go back on our next visit.

comfortable

By Bob P |

It was laid back and comfortable.Food was very tasty. They let you put your own sauce on.serving sizes were of good size not to much not to little for average person.Sit at picnic bench table or small tables that don't have matching chairs but that doesn't bother me it eas just relaxing

Real Texas Experience

By D3an_M0riarty |

Such a nice location. The brisket, pulled pork and ribs tasted just like in some original barbecue joint in Texas. They even have Shiner Bock draft beer! Just the prices are a bit higher but still reasonable for New York. Will definitely eat here again when in NY again.

Early Birds!

By Dawn Michele |

On our way to Yankee Stadium we made a quick stop, and are we happy we did. What a quaint, retro throwback design that served butter-like brisket, bacony collard greens and the best yams ever! I would highly recommend getting there early because we did not even wait at 5pm but the staff said it's usually packed. Enjoy!

Brooklyn visit

By Johan F |

Came in here for lunch after visiting Brooklyn Brewery. Left with the dissapoinment of knowing they ruinied backyardbbq for me forever... Their ribs was amaizing! Tender, sticky and full of flavour. Ate it with cornbread and potatosalad. Very friendly staff with good service, we accidentally spilled our drink and they replaced it free of charge. Maple's is a cool hangout and sure worth a visit! I know it's one of the places we want to visit again!!

Underrated Brooklyn BBQ

By Daniel M |

After striking out on Pies 'n Thighs, Fette Sau, and Brooklyn Bowl due to excessively long waits, we wandered into this spot on arguably the coolest block in the world (Williamsburg's North 12 St.) and were relieved to find virtually no wait. Within 20 minutes, we had ordered and gotten our food. I decided to go with the brisket platter, choosing baked beans and collard greens as my sides, all for under $20. The results were nothing short of fantastic. The brisket was tender and tasty, the sauce was out of this world, and the sides were just right. I also got a taste of the pulled pork, which may have to be my next choice as an entree. I can't believe this place doesn't get the same wait times as the aforementioned places, but I certainly have no problem with it staying that way. More food for me!

Authentic, fun, delicious!

By Ellen J |

Mabel's was one of our favourite dining experiences during our week in NYC. The food was just delicious and not at all pretentious. The entire atmosphere of the place was very casual and friendly. We went for lunch on a Saturday; it was quite relaxed and we sat at the bar. I've heard it can get really busy in the evenings though, and they don't take reservations....but it would definitely be worth the wait.

Best of the best

By Iratdog |

Ok, let's start the ball rolling. It's hipster. But hey! You're down where they live. If there are no Hipsters in Williamsburg then it's off! This is my favorite BBQ joint. Period. Yes I've been to Dinosaur up in Harllem a few times. Smokin' Al's. Famous Dave's. Nameless picnic table joints all over the south. No, I'm not an expert. Hell, im a freakin' Yankee, what do I know? I know this is the best Barbecue I ever had and you might not! Right next door to the Brooklyn Brewery. So, if you like a beer with that you are soooo covered it's scary. I found this because the Brooklyn Bowl is around the corner. Home run after home run after home run.

Great BBQ, reasonable prices!

By Gaggy1 |

We loved our dinner. The platter with 2 sides is plenty of food. Full bar is a nice compliment to the meal. Prices are reasonable, compared to other Brooklyn BBQ spots. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

SO good.

By NS0613 |

I had lunch here today and oh my god was it amazing! I've had a lot of barbecue in my day, but this was really fabulous. I ordered the pulled pork and the candied yams, both of which were fabulous (yams were super sweet--almost like a dessert). The person I went with ordered the platter with brisket, ribs and pulled pork, and three sides, which I believe were mac and cheese, baked beans and the potato salad. Everything I had was awesome,

Lucky find

By KMG140 |

We were wandering about Williamsburg and stumbled across this place. Beef brisket sandwich was delicious with a tangy bbq sauce. Had mac and cheese on the side - it was worth the visit on its own. Nothing fancy about the place, but if your looking for good bbq in this area, I would suggest you try Mable's!

Best Ribs in New york

By Ikjiks |

I was there or my son's bachelor party.I have been living the south for10 years so i a familiar with barbecue. I was a little leery about Brooklyn barbque but was pleasantly surprised. The ribs were so moist and the brisket was yummy. sweet tea is a staple in the south and their sweet tea was awesome. the food and atmosphere was topnotch, I would definitely recommend it

Awesome plates - simple, no blah, great place for hungry people

By mrtomclaes |

Well, what can I say. I still dream of going back to Mable's Smokehouse. We ate so much, because it was delicious, (and we were hungry, decently priced (read: compared to some others: cheap) and OMG the size of those plates. I would do it again! One of the best meat plates ever order, without the blah. Good place for groups too.

Great Food

By Lyes F |

Went to this place on a quiet Sunday evening, so got a seat easily and then ordered up at the counter. The food was great, I had the st louis ribs, with all the trimmings. It was super. The venue is classic smokehouse, clean and well presented. Order drinks separately but beware the miserable barman.

Great ribs, black eyed peas hot!

By VKInada |

Ribs are ribs are ribs... no disappointment here. Nice digs near McCarren Park... and they serve black eyed peas hot... none if this refrigerated vinegary stuff!

Family night out

By Christina |

Fab - service and food incredible. Everyone loved the food and service was even better. So welcoming and a fun evening all round.

Decent food; overpriced

By Diana D |

Atmosphere is fun. Food is OK but nothing worthy of the other restaurants in the area. I If you're a visitor and not a local, I'd skip this place and go for somewhere with worthier food for a NY experience.

Worth the journey from UK just to eat at Mable's!

By ChirpyG |

My wife and I first came across Mable's in 2012 and even then we decided that the next time we were in New York we would go and eat there again. Well we went again just a couple of weeks ago and it was just as good as the first time if not better. The food is great, the atmosphere is superb, the staff are wonderful all adding up to a great time at Mable's. The food is certainly good value for money. The brisket was really good and tasty and the side orders cooked to perfection. This time we got to meet the owners Jeff and Meghan and what lovely people they are and very passionate about Mable's and the work they do there, it was very interesting listening to Jeff talking to 2 customers about different cuts of meat and how they cook. There is a good selection of beers to choose from, and the staff great and based working. MABLES is a great place and a Williamsburg must visit. Can't wait to try the ribs next time.

Ribs. !

By Walter W |

Loud, busy, vibrant. Hybrid cafeteria like. You go to the counter, order your food they bring it later, in a tray, quite quickly. You also have to go to the bar to get your beer. Not really a big deal as long as you’re not expecting table service. Ribs are amazing. Tender, juicy, smoky, fall of the bone great. Sausage as good. Brisket very good. Collard Greens, baked beans, Mac ‘n Cheese are a must. We’ll go back.

Definitely worth a visit

By BERFOX |

Best mac 'n cheese I've had in a long time! I'd go back just for that. All food was delicious and very well priced. Great beer too!

an experience!

By DOmitille_P62 |

The food is real tasty but most of all this restaurant is an experience. I recommend for people that want to have typical American food! Cedric was a great waiter!

Delicious eats at Mable’s!

By Hanika P |

Stumbled upon Mable’s after an afternoon of axe throwing. Even though it was Saturday afternoon, we walked right in & were seated right away. Portions were good, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious! Will definitely be returning.

Better then Fette Sau

By MattyMatteo |

It's in an old factory warehouse indicative of the north side of Williamsburg. Exposed brick with high ceilings and has a very hip rock vibe. I've tried most of the BBQ joints in Williamsburg and they are the best in this area. Very well seasoned meats, I had the brisket here and out of all the other brisket options in Williamsburg this takes the cake. Very good sides, loved them all and I was full in no time. Not to fatty not over done, pretty close to perfection without leaving for Texas (big fan of Texas bbq) Great whiskey & bourbon selection as well they should, and also medium sized beer selection. Im a fan, and they'll be getting my repeat business when I'm in the mood for bbq. It gets 4 stars because bbq is tough to rank at 5, because it takes a lot to get to that point mainly because this isn't done in a fire burning pit (ie: the Salt Lick in Texas)

Friendly BBQ joint

By Paul B |

Ate here in December 2015 after looking for smoke houses in Brooklyn & Manhattan. Food was reasonable, Ribs were very tender and had a good smoky flavour. Was disappointed that there were no burnt ends on the menu. The staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside was that food was served on paper plates

Best Ribs I Ever Tasted!

By Jeffrey S |

Dinner at Mables was the perfect ending to a perfect day. After joining friends of ours for a fun afternoon and great brew at the Brooklyn Brewery, the four of us walked a few store fronts up the block to Mables. Me and our friends had the ribs, my wife ordered the pulled pork. The pulled pork was extremly tasty but the Ribs OMG, these were the best ribs I have ever tasted. Meaty, tender, and tasty with rib sauce to die for. Delicious home mad potatoe salad and cole slaw, alomg with some very very good beans made for great sides. Now a day later, I find myself craving another visit and another taste.

Fall apart Brisket

By H D |

The wonderful bbq smell hits you as you open the door. Melt in your mouth meat and chicken with their smokey/sweet/sour sauce. Good quality moist corn bread and baked beans. Friendly staff.

Super fast BBQ

By Oliver J |

I was impressed with Mabel’s. Our food came in literally 5 minutes and was all of a decent standard. I personally had the brisket and ribs with Mac ‘n’ Cheese and collard greens which set me back $22 but was generous enough to share with my wife who just wanted a little taste. The staff are really nice and the atmosphere is cool and friendly.

Yum!

By wherenextexactly |

Followed our noses during a day out in Williamsburg and ended up at this smoke house! Wasn't too busy so food arrived quite quickly. I had the pulled pork, which was not too sweet or soggy, with some deliciously creamy mac and cheese, and greens to break up the flavours. My friend, who has lived in NY for over a year now, said the ribs she had were the best she'd ever eaten. The portions weren't silly, which is a good thing as nothing can ruin a good meal like being uncomfortably stuffed!

OM NOM

By leils |

One of the best meals we had on our trip to New York!! We planned on visiting Brooklyn Brewery (which is just next door) but it was closed as it was Labour Day so decided to pop in for lunch whilst we were in the neighbourhood. Great drinks, nicely made cocktails and a good selection of craft beers and friendly staff. The food was sooo good. We had the ribs and brisket with beans, slaw and Mac and cheese. The ribs were the best we've ever had! Hope we can visit here again one day!

Amazing!

By LaurenOldfield |

Amazing food, Amazing portions, Amazing prices, Amazing atmosphere, Lovely area! I cant recommend this place enough! The best placewe visited in our 10 days in NYC! Buy the BBQ sauce while your there, huge bottle that tastes beautiful!

Great BBQ

By Ben H |

If you are in Brooklyn and hungry for some good BBQ this is the place to go. The Brisket is amazing. It has great flavor, moist, tender and just plain delicious. My wife and were on a food tour when we stopped here for a sample and it was so good we came back for lunch the next day. The place is in a really cool setting as well. Its very relaxed atmosphere and the servers are really friendly too.

excellent BBQ, a bit pricey for the quantity of food

By Ron T |

Wife and I walked ~ 0.75 miles to go here for a late lunch on a SUN. I have eaten lots of BBQ all over the South and in TX - Mable's was just as good. NYC prices, quantity a bit skimpy, but the BBQ was fantastic. The brisket "melts in your mouth" - awesome.

A nice BBQ gem in Brooklyn

By JoSo67 |

We always eat at Mable’s before we visit Brooklyn Brewery. This time we went with another couple, and they we’re extremely happy with our choise of restaurant. The meat is realy tasty and tender, and the sides are delicious. We will probably go back again during our one week stay , and will of course visit this nice gem at our next trip to NY.

Great BBQ!

By Carl S |

This place has great atmosphere and great food! Located right next to the brewery. Good choice of different authentic barbecue meats and sides at good prices!

Not the teams fault it didnt get 5/5

By Ms Willemse |

Went for breakfast before visiting the brewery. Brunch was delicious and the bar server was great. We would have stayed longer and spent more but a big group with lots of children came in and really changed the atmosphere-not our thing!

Popular BBQ food in perfect quality

By DUS-buddy |

Please try the beef brisket and the pulled pork, it's delicious. The Smokehouse is located next to Brooklyn brewery and they have the beer on tap. Perfect

Highly Satisfying BBQ

By ReeceLiang |

Mable's will scratch your BBQ itch when needed. A hidden gem in Williamsburg, Mable's offers counter side ordering with smaller 4-6 people and banquet style seating. The atmosphere is casual and tasteful, very much what you expect a smokehouse in Brooklyn to look like I got the ribs which were very good. The Mac & Cheese was phenomenal, the corn bread was OK, I'll be trying a different side next time I go. Note service here is a bit slow, additionally ordering with friends your food may come pretty spaced apart so this really is a more casual dining experience. All in all a solid visit for New Yorkers

Great BBQ with a fun atmosphere!

By OtownGurl |

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mabel's. We arrive around 8 pm and wanted dinner and beer. The place is fairly small and there are long tables at the entrance. I guess we looked like we didn't know what we were doing, so a helpful server told us what was what. There were a couple of seats at the bar so we chose to eat there. The friendly bartender took our drink and food order, and both were delivered promptly, and at the right temperature. It's quite loud and has the atmosphere of a local watering hole. I tried the pulled pork and the mac and cheese - both were delicious. The next time that I'm in Brooklyn, I'll be heading back to Mable's!

Good BBQ

By CW |

This was our first time at Mable's BBQ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We arrived on a Sunday around 2p so it was a little quieter with plenty of available seating. The dining hall is cavernous and the tables are banquet style. It is also self serve. So I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed when we first arrived. But the food was really good so it overcame the less than comfortable dining atmosphere. We had a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich with coleslaw, collards and potato salad (see photos). All yummy. Despite standing in front of him for over 10 minutes, we were not able to catch the bartenders eye to get a glass or wine or a beer even though the bar was not busy. It seemed like he was uninterested in serving us. (We are a little out of the general age range of the crowd) So we made due with water. I am taking that part of our dining experience into account in giving an overall rating of three instead of four. The food was very good but a welcoming friendly service is part of the dining experience.

Great Meal

By IAINY825 |

Went on a weekday at 6 and order was taken (at the bar) immediately. Ordered Deluxe Platter (for 2) and barman was polite and helpful. Food arrived quickly. Meat was delicious as was the cornbread and other Sides. Left very satisfied and will recommend to friends. Cant fault any aspect of visit. Go!

Surprisingly good Texas-style BBQ in the middle of Brooklyn's Williamsburg!

By Mommydoe |

We weren't sure we would enjoy this place, but we were desperate for "real" food, and it did smell good from the street... We tried the brisket and the chopped pork, both of which were quite good. The sides that cam with the platter were fresh and portions were generous.

Brooklyn aspiring to become the BBQ hot spot in the North

By TruBluSigma |

First, who knew Brooklyn was becoming the home for many new BBQ restaurants? Not I because I was clearly shocked when I stumbled upon Mable's ( my grandmother's name.. This drew me in as well). Second, when I think BBQ, I think Va, NC and Tx but not Brooklyn. Great food and perfect atmosphere. Nothing about the establishment screamed NY. Even our bartender was from MD with roots in VA. I ordered some ribs and their hot sausage links which came out quick. Not expensive and they made you feel as if you could sit their and chat all night. I'll definitely be back!

Great food but rude and awful bar staff

By Edward H |

Following a trip to the Brooklyn Brewery we popped in here. Although the atmosphere and food are great, the bar staff were very rude. One member of the bar staff didn't see that we had tipped her and then rudely said us 'we work for tips'. To be honest, I didn't feel she deserved a tip in the first place as it took them so long.

Very good BBQ

By Steve P |

We’ve eaten here several times and the food is good and plentiful. It’s a decent size and can accommodate large parties, but they did not serve drinks at the tables so one has to queue at the bar. It’s not really an issue unless you’re in the middle of eating and have to leave your meal to go get a drink. It has a good atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive.

Ready willing & Mable!!!!!!

By Nicolettr L |

After waiting in the long line for beer at brooklyn brewery, we were starving and stumbled upon Mable's. Best decision ever!! Tastey brisket pulled pork that had sex with my mouth & creamy mac & cheese! The perfect amount for 2 to happily share & continue drinking delicious beer. Plus great atmosphere!

Great BBQ

By Jake F |

I am not a BBQ expert by any means, but this place was incredibly delicious. Really nice dining room, which importantly smelled amazingly of meat and sauce. Everything we ate was tremendous, from the brisket to the ribs to the greens to the mac and cheese. Yum!

Great BBQ in the heart of Williamsburg!

By yanksgirl17 |

I wasn't sure what to expect from this place, but what a great experience! The brisket is out of this world! What i liked is that you could order smaller portions, so you can try everything at a reasonable price. Everything we ate was authentic southern fare, ribs brisket, collard greens, mac and cheese, beans and bbq chicken. and they have my favorite beer Texas Lone Star!! We were not rushed sat for a while on a Friday night, and then took an order to go home!

Awesome ribs

By MLBlackett |

the decor is rustic and comfy. Not 5 star with table cloths etc etc, but the food is 5 star for sure...The ribs were cooked just right the brisket tender and worth the price..this place should open one in the bronx, one in queens, one in manhattan...Really great BBQ at an very reasonable price

Taco Tuesday and Trivia

By Domaszl |

My wife and I have been visiting Mable's for several weeks in a row. The bartender Pauline is excellent and remembered our names in just a couple of days. We go to trivia night which also happens to be on Taco Tuesdays. Those tacos.... they're ridiculously good and a great value. Happy hour ends at 7 and trivia starts at 8. We have tried everything on the menu at this point. The ribs are banging. The pulled park pretty decent. The wings were sub par. The brisket is pretty dry. The BBQ chicken serviceable. But have I mentioned those tacos? The chili is good but my homemade is better. Their stew is good with solid chunks of meat inside. As for sides we've had them all also. The beans and the barracho beans are decent. The candied yams are solid but watery. The corn bread are small and rather underwhelming. So basically this place wins on the tacos and the ribs, and the people. You'll find food better and cheaper elsewhere (although maybe not at the same time) but for a fun Tuesday night out you'll do pretty well here.

Solid meal, good sides.

By biztrav123 |

We went after bailing out of the line at Brooklyn Brewery. The very friendly bar tender greeted us and told us the procedure and she took our beer order and delivered 'me promptly. Wife ordered pulled pork sandwich and potato salad. I did brisket, Mac and cheese, and collards. Pork was great, brisket was not my fave. The Mac and cheese was great and the collards were the best I've had north of NC. Would go back for sure.

Great night, good food

By Lee M |

We met a friend at this bar at his suggestion. The food was excellent, smokey and delicious. They drank beers and I had wine. The guy at the bar was helpful and pleasant, the other patrons looked like they were enjoying themselves too. It was fun.

Brooklyn barbecue at its best

By Hotelsarelovely |

Fabulous - and insanely generous - platters of down-home barbecue. Forget the sides, though they're perfectly pleasant. It's all about the meat. Pulled pork, ribs and moist smoky brisket washed down with a couple of lethally delicious cocktails. Big, buzzy - if every so slightly atmosphereless early on a Friday night - it's well worth the detour if you're in Brooklyn.

Good choice for last minute Brooklyn fare

By dogeyedoctor |

Went there on a Sat night after all the other places were full. The wait was not bad. You order at the counter, and then a runner brings the food to your table (located by a state map). The BBQ was quite good. I like the brisket, pulled pork and sides, but my big complaint is: TINY PORTIONS! I could not believe how small the portions were. The meat combo for 4 had: 4 strips of brisket, a meager portion of pulled pork and 1 hot link. Give me a break! Fun environment with lots of young people having fun, but I will speand my money elsewhere.

Best BBQ in Brooklyn

By Brianne K |

Wanted to try the ribs, but they were sold out. The pulled pork sandwich is great! It comes with onions, cole slaw and BBQ on the side. Mac & Cheese lacked flavor, but the collard greens with bacon and baked beans were the best sides we tried! Overall, it's a friendly local BBQ (great for kids and groups) but expect a wait it's really popular!

Mable's Smokehouse platters are excellent.

By Hawaiian555 |

As a group of 4 people, the platters are excellent to share. Everything is tasty and tender and we always finish everything on our plate!

Family trip

By Sikleb |

Excellent, we went with our kids that are very picky and they love the brisket, the bbq beans and mac and cheese.

Great atmosphere and kid friendly

By sareduf |

I loved the vibe here! Family style seating, funky country music, and kid friendly. The meat was good but maybe a little on the salty side. Same with the bbq sauce, just a little too salty. The brisket was very tender and the ribs were fall of the bone. The mac n cheese needs some work, pickles were good, candied yams yummy, baked beans were also good. I did like the coleslaw also. The servings are massive so bring your appetite. I'd say this place is worth going to for sure but the food was a little salty.

Very American

By luca q |

Typical American place with beer, meat and television with American football. Good for an informal and unpretentious lunch or dinner, eating pork ribs or chicken wings.

Fast ribs

By ErmerP |

Popped in on the way home from an afternoon in Williamsburg. Ribs, beans, mac and cheese all ok. There was plenty to eat. Fast food rib bar.

Fantastic BBQ! Best meal this holiday

By DarylS797 |

Grabbed lunch here on our discovering Brooklyn walk. Amazing meat, soft snd flavoursome. chicken was moist and my beef was soft as hell. Great joint

Real smokehouse experience in a super cool area

By Pete D |

This restaurant is situated in the heart of Williamsburg, right near the iconic Brooklyn Brewery, We were attracted to it immediately by the 'cattle', symbolising they know what they're doing when comes to meat. Big open wooded space, and an easily digestible menu makes it very easy to decipher what you'd like to eat. We take some recommendations from the staff who helps us gauge how much to order depending on how hungry we are. Drinks menu is short and to the point, sometimes this can be overwhelming in other places, but these guys know what works. Food comes out on no fuss paper and plastic trays lined with wax paper. For a potentially messy meal you don't need to worry about cutlery and white plates. The ribs were sensational, and the brisket which was recommended lived up to everything we'd been promised.

Great meal with a large group!

By KrisSteve06 |

We came here with a party of 23, and the service was excellent. For large groups, Mable's does family style (charging each adult $30), which I usually don't love, but the portions were generous and the food great. All drinks were ordered up at the bar, which might be inconvenient to some, but I really liked it with the big group, so people were clearly responsible for themselves. The atmosphere is comfortable and casual; strongly recommend!

Great place

By Robert D |

We went to Mables without checking any reviews beforehand. We are so glad we did. One of our best meals in Brooklyn and server Lilly was great and very helpful. Thanks Lilly and team

Delightful Food

By Louisvilletraveler52 |

We thoroughly enjoyed the food at the restaurant. It was delicious. The ribs and brisket were to melt in your mouth tender. The portions were good but that didn't stop us from ordering extra ribs. We loved them. Next we are in Brooklyn - will definitely stop back in. And the prices were just right to boot.

Soooo worth it!

By Sasha S |

I ordered pretty much a little of every thing. It was all soooo worth it. I loved the bbq ribs, potato salad, brisket...candied yams...omg, and the corn bread! I will be back shortly. Keep up the great work! Money well spent.

Great Buzz

By MaryGK01 |

If you're near Berry Street don't miss out on Mable's. Us three, (Hubby, daughter & I) had a great meal there. We had a platter .... what a feast! Pulled pork, smoked brisket, ribs etc. The meat is is so delicious and tasty that we literally dry cleaned our plates. Great vibe, informal, country music, excellent service, and good prices. Great mix of clientele ... couples, families, friends.

Great brisket sandwich!

By Jennifer G |

Nice bar and reasonably priced. Visiting Brooklyn for a concert and we were pleasantly surprised to find such good BBQ. Worth a visit if you're close by!

Okie approved!

By taratheaimersdad |

After we found out Mable's was owned by someone from Oklahoma, we put it on our itinerary during our visit to NYC. The brisket was outstanding, and the potato salad rivals that of certain grandmothers I know. Not that it was needed to help the brisket, but the BBQ sauce was the right blend of tangy and sweet. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere felt like a family BBQ joint.

Food that never fails to satisfy

Second time coming here on a trip from Ireland, food is fantastic, as good as it was the first time, and glad I stocked up on some more of their bottled sauce! great atmosphere and good beer. Best brisket I've ever had!

Good BBQ at a reasonable price.

We ordered takeout BBQ from Mable's to bring back to Brooklyn Brewing...an excellent choice to accompany beer.

The food was good. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. The baked beans really good. My friend did not get much brisket in his order. The mac and cheese typical. I would eat here again. I didn't think it was the best barbeque I have ever had but it was good.

Nice atmosphere/ great food!

Country Cookin' in NYC!...Well Brooklyn, to be exact...

These people know how to fix food so good it'll make your tongue jump outta yore head and slap you up side o' the HEAD!! When I went, I had to sample a bit of everything on everyone else's plate seein' as how I was the token southerner and therefore supposed to be an expert at this...I dutifully took a mouthful of everything and was happy to report that they not only had cornbread down perfectly, but I had to explain what, exactly, 'collard greens' were to the rest of my citified group...Everything was very tasty! Although Texas-style has never been my favorite, it was pretty good and I'd go back there again. The rustic, down-home atmosphere was relaxing and a nice change of pace from those restaurants where they artfully drizzle some sauce over an almost bare plate and charge you an extra $6.
