Nice Dinner Before a Night Out

By Paige U. |

I've been to Madroños more than a few times, and it's one of my favorite Nicaraguan restaurants in Miami. There are definitely cheaper alternatives for nica food in Miami, but the quality of the food here makes it worth the price- and anyway there are a few expensive Nicaraguan chains in Miami, but they aren't as good in my opinion, as Madroños. The carne asada is a must try, and definitely get the gallo pinto(their version of rice and beans). I also enjoy the queso frito antojito, it's a delicious typical dish. The service here is not bad, the wait staff is attentive, but they are not overly friendly like many people may be used to, just very businesslike while waiting on you, but it's more a cultural thing, because all the Nicaraguan places we eat at in Miami are like this :)

BEST Nicaraguan restaurant!

By Iris D |

Outstanding Nicaraguan food!!! In addition to an excellent and very professional team of waiters and waitresses who go above and beyond to serve you. The food, no matter what you order, is always exquisite. A family restaurant where one feels welcome and wanting to come back again and again because of their consistency with the delicious food and the courteous service. A truly outstanding 5 stars Nicaraguan restaurant!!!

Great experience and great food with great service. We saw spider man walking outside made the experience even better.

EXCELLENT FOOD, SERVICE & PRICE

By AliciaS0651 |

We absolutely love this place, on the past 10 days we have been there 3 times. We love the churrasco, milanesa steak, the pork loin on the grill is to die for. All dishes come with 2 sides and the house salad, bread plus 3 different sauces (chimichurri which is my favorite and 2 more). You can not miss the Gallo Pinto which is rice and beans mixed. The desserts are delicious, 3 Leches, Pio Quinto; they are big. The service is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable on each of their entrees. The restaurant is located near International Mall and Dolphin Mall. I recomend Madroño Restaurant to everyone.

Good 🇳🇮

By carlosyfaby |

The place was apparently renovated and the changes are noticeable. However, with an abundance if Nicaraguan places in the area what separates ths place is the service. It is a nice experience and good carne asada.

Great Lunch Spot

By Andy M |

We have been going for late lunches at this restaurant and it has not failed us. It has great lunch specials at a very reasonable price. It also includes a salad and free soda. Today, Thursday, we had the daily fish special which comes with a creamy sauce, gallo pinto and tajadas (long-cut banana chips). The food was plenty and very tasty. The waiters and staff provided great and friendly service. The atmosphere is great with a modern and clean décor. I recommend for having a great value lunch! Note: If you go at the peak lunch hour 12:15 - 1:30 there may be a wait but it moves fast and is worth the wait.

BEST NICA FOOD IN MIAMI!!

By Eliso31 |

This place is hands down the BEST place in Miami!! I love eating here, the food is amazing. My dad loves eating here because it reminds him of home. Me being half Nicaraguan and half Guatemalan, I feel a sense of home even though I was born here. The servers are kind enough to ask how you would like your carne cooked. They are fast and very attentive. This place is a tad small so it gets full on peak days and hours. The food is authentic Nicaraguan food. They have all the traditional plates as well as combinations of their own. Prices are great considering the amount of food that gets served for you. Overall the place is very nice, clean and has an upscale feel, with modern design. I would totally be eating here everyday if I had the money lol.

Nice place to go with family

Authentic Nicaraguan food

A popular Nicaraguan restaurant near Florida Intl University

By Gerri S |

This restaurant came highly recommended to us by a professor at the University. We arrived around 3 pm for a late lunch and the restaurant was still about half full of guests, in fact there was a steady stream of people coming to dine the entire 2 hours we were there - obviously this place is a popular spot as it was filled with locals! Our waitress was somewhat helpful when we asked what was good, she seemed a little reluctant to make any real recommendations but advised us on portion sizes etc. The 3 condiments that are brought to the table to accompany dishes were fabulous, there is a chili, grated carrot, vinegar sauce, pickled onions and jalapeno compote and mojo sauce. The grilled pork ribs were flavourful but a little dry, the fish fillet was fine but not outstanding, the fried sweet bananas were terrific, the white tuber like squash, cabbage and chicharron appetizer was kind of bland but made better when topped with one of the condiments. Overall the food was fine but not worth writing home about.

We kept coming back!

By Gail C |

My husband and I were nearby on business and ate here for dinner. We loved it so much we came back 5 nights in a row! The menu is Nicaraguan and has many choices. The fish topped with shrimp and shrimp sauce was amazing. The steak and sirloin tips with jalapeño sauce was superb and was perfectly cooked to order each time. Wine list is short but very well chosen. Everything we tried we enjoyed and would highly recommend. The decor is simple but elegant and the atmosphere friendly and fun. One high point was the excellent service. A very gracious host and beautifully trained servers create a really nice experience. Tried their artisanal baked goods and loved them. We will definitely return. We give them our highest recommendation and our thanks for making a work trip much more enjoyable.

Great Nicaraguan Food

By Michelle O |

This place is awesome for Nica food! I remember going a while back and last time I went they had renovated the place. Looks pretty nice now. You should go early since they close at 9 or 930 which is pretty early for Miami. Try the Repochetas, Indio Viejo, or Carne Asada... super yummy! They also sell Cacao... which should be standard at a Nica place, but sadly I've been to a few that don't serve it.

Early Dinner or Go Hungry!

By AMM M |

Unfortunately, the managers/owners of this restaurant do not take their work very seriously, as the restaurant is supposed to be open until 9:30 pm on Saturdays, however, they shut the doors half an hour early, so as long time customers arrive to have dinner at 9:05 pm, the door is shut, and the staff and manager will not even look at you. I guess they do not need my business! Although, the food is generally satisfactory, but not anything to brag about, I will never return. This is not the only restaurant in town. Good luck!

BEST FLAN OF MY LIFE! We'll drive out of our way to go here

By aprilklim |

My sister introduced my family to this restaurant when she went to FIU over 10 years ago. The white table cloths and excellent service always make us feel special. The family that owns this restaurant is so kind, and there is a shop where you can purchase Nicaraguan goodies there. The Bistec Entomatado is a family favorite. Whatever you do, don't forget to get the flan. Madroño's has the dreamiest, lightest, non-eggy flan and is the place I compare every other flan to.

Total Lack of Respect-Kicked out Pregnant Woman From Table

By Melissa H |

Minutes after ending our meal an older man (possibly the owner) aggressively bangs on our table and says if there is nothing else we need that he needs the table as he loudly bangs on the table we are sitting at! How could you do that to someone pregnant that came to enjoy a meal. Disgusting! Total lack of respect. Do not recommend supporting this business.

EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE!

By Mademi |

Absolutely LOVE this place, could try anything on the menu! I live an hour away and still stop by every time a I can. Best Nicaraguan Food, Good prices, great service!

Been coming here for years

By diana2jen |

As far as authentic Nicaraguan food goes this place is it! I've been coming here for years and have seen them transform into the place they are now. They have great modern decor to go along with the awesome food! My only qualm would be the place is to small. I wish the restaurant was bigger. When the place is full and you get up to go to the restroom it's hard not to kinda feel your very close to the tables. Prices are about average would definitely go back.

After Church lunch

By M86 |

I visited this awesome place on Sunday, Jan 8, 2017. Every time I go I am always greeted by smiling faces. We was a party of 10 and surprisingly we got seated right away, even though we had in mind that we had to wait. Our party consisted of different nationalities from Nicaraguans, Colombians, Hondurans to Cuban. We all order different food items and it all tasted amazing. I personally had the "lomo a la parilla" it was cooked to perfection. It's was so tasty and soft. The other people in my party order carne asada, vigoron, filete de pescado, salpicon and lengua en salsa. Every one agreed the food was beyond great! The service was spot on! I definitely recommend this place if your in Miami.

Great Nicaraguan Food

By CatskillsTravler |

I am not Nicaraguan, but having spent years there and being married to one, I do know something about Nicaraguan food, which I love. Madrono restaurant makes very, very good Nicaraguan food. The main problem is how to eat 10 of your favorite dishes at the same time. Great filet points with jalapeño sauce or chimichurri, pork chunks with cassava (chancho con yucca), farmer cheese (cuajada), nacatamales, and on and on. Desserts are pretty good too--tres leches and my personal Nicaraguan favorite Pío Quinto (Hard to explain it amazing). Madrono has five-star food, but I gave them 4 stars, because of the service. It's not bad, just that the wait staff is distant and while not unfriendly, they are not really friendly either. They walk around but don't always look around, so you find yourself trying to catch their eye over and over. It was weird when the waiter came up to my adult nephew, as he was eating his main, and said "do you want any coffee or dessert or should I just bring you the check?" At which point my nephew told him to come back after he finished with his food. We really do like this place and have been there twice with a large group and will return. But we don't really expect outstanding service since they were the same on both visits. By the way, at the top Managua, Nicaragua restaurants it's often that way too--very serious, standoffish waiters. I'm not sure why, Nicaraguans are such great people! But I rest my case, you should go here. Prices reasonable, portions generous, everything delicious, and a store attached with genuine Nicaraguan products is a plus.

Try it, you'll like it!

By Roundabout1959 |

First time at this restaurant although my picky daughter had recommended it years before. Fast service is an understatement. Water, sauces and bread came out instantaneously. I ordered the baby churrasco with gallo pinto and maduros. Hubby had the shrimp creole, white rice and mariquitas, which is not what they call it. Dessert consisted of flan and tres leches. Cappuccino and regular coffee to end the meal. Wine and Miller Lite with our meal. Food was outstanding. Cost was $50. I could not believe it. Los Ranchos is across the street and their business must be taking a hit with this wonderful restaurant so close by and with such great food and great value. Can't wait to go back

Nicaragua Style

By Linda R |

Excellent atmosphere and authentic Nicaraguan food. Several choices for fruit drinks. They even have a bakery. This is a nice restaurant, not a hole in the wall.

Great Lunch

By Stefan O |

Whether it's for socializing with friends or a business lunch I can recommend Madrono's. The lunch specials are an exceptional value.

Excellent place and service

By Roberto S |

I highly recommend this place, the service is 5 stars and the food is amazing I live near by and I go often with my family excellent place to have a grate meal and dinner.

Great spot for Nicaraguan food

By Stephen |

Delicious Nicaraguan food with friendly, efficient service. The queso frito with maduro was a highlight, and both the carne asada and breaded chicken cutlet were flavorful and generously portioned. Tres leches for dessert was rich and creamy. Worth the wait on a busy night and highly recommend.

Don't Bring Cash To This Restaurant

By peloless |

I just went with my sister Magda E Ramirez to celebrate my son's 12 birthday and we went with my son and my husband, of course, and when the bill came, she paid cash $120.00 because she thought it was $112.00 and waited for the change, and the bil in reality was $72.00 so the cashier returned $15.00 he stole the rest and refused to count the register. So, my advice people is, go with a credit card that can fight for you. And, there's no manager in that restaurant, nobody is responsible for stolen money. So, I was planning to bring my sister for lunch one of these days, but in fact I'm to Los Ranchos with her. Thank God, I'm not a customer in that restaurant.

best AUTHENTIC ethnic FOOD for low price, VERY MODERN posh

By Rachel A |

Best kept secret in Sweetwater! Because Los Ranchos is next door, which is a very pricey restaurant serving the exact same food, I was blown away to find this unassuming corner restaurant within a block, with much better prices and atmosphere. I almost don't wanna review it cuz I'm scared it will change or go up in $$ or get too crowded! LOL Went with my hubby and son for weekday lunch at noon, by the time we left there were NO TABLES AVAILABLE - it was packed!! The atmosphere is very posh, chic, trendy - like IKEA meets Starbucks, and we love that! The food is very good and authentic Nicaraguan, but presented beautifully on modern tablewear and plating. We ate "carne asada" - a flank steak that came with rice, beans, fried plantain chips, and fried sweet plantains. Soda was also included in the lunch special - the price was so low I can't even write it down here! LOL Great bar area, good coffee, and yummy desserts.

Great service and food.

By Mercy417 |

Nicaraguan Restaurant with excellent service, reasonable prices. The waiters are always attentive and helpful The food is delicious, the pork loin on the grill is fantastic as well as the churrasco, all dishes come with two accompanying plus a house salad and a trio of sauces to serve with the meat (the chimichurry is best) and be sure to try the Pio Quinto, a delicious dessert nicaraguence. The restaurant is located near two large shopping centers, International Mall and Dolphin Mall.

A great find not far from the turnpike should you (shockingly ;-)) find yourself in traffic

By endangered |

Really nice place.. Actually much nicer ambiance with jazz in the background and more than I expected. Food was fantastic..fresh, well priced ..really well priced in truth... And service was very good ... Will definitely come back when my travels take me in the vicinity

What a surprise!

By MarthaMM |

Wow, what s find! The service was friendly, efficient and helpful. Our water was Diego and he was great. The background music was relaxing and perfect for s nicd meal. We had chancho con yuca as an appetizer and every morsel was delicious. As an entree we both had the churazco and it was flavorful and juicy with the incredible sides. For dessert we had the 4 leches and loved it too! We will be back for more adventure!

Good food but not airconditioning

By fernandojcl |

Last Sunday The end of the month of August, with no airconditioning and when you ask about the problem, NO answer o it's ok and that was all the answer we can get. Food was good but no intention to go back. The churrasco was over cook ask for medium if you like medium well, but was good.

Employee Kicked Us Out To Get More Customers

By Genesis |

I am so disappointed in this restaurant's customer service. An older man which probably is the owner or manager came to our table about 5 minutes after we were done paying to leave since we were done. How could you tell customers to leave?? We were a party of 5 and ordered appetizers, entrees, drinks and dessert. We spend a good amount of money. Will not be returning!!

Best Nicaraguan Food in Miami

By mgamia |

This is by far the best Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami. The food is just like if you were in Nicaragua, but with an extra touch of American quality of service. The churrasco was tasty and tender, Maduros and white cheese to die for, and one thing that really impressed me was how well organized and clean the place is. Impeccable!!

Nica Food & Superb Service!!!

By Jose Luis Ávila-Castillo |

If you are looking for a outstanding nica food, Madrono Restaurant is the place to go. Came back a week ago from Florida which I had to eat some Nica food & drink some good Cacao. We order the Bandeja de Antojitos, Repochetas, cacao, tres leches & Buñuelos!!!! The food is really good and the service is superb!!! I truly recommend Madrono.

Excellent place for lunch!

By MSConde |

Great place for lunch, great prices and good food. I was traveling from Alabama on bussiness and they told me about this place and I ate twice there. The rest. is clean and very service is excellent. You get a lot of food for the money.

Tasty and reasonable

By ErnieL94 |

I had the churrasco steak, gallo pinto rice, and sweet plantains. The steak was very good and tasty for this restaurant category. The plantains were good. The gallo pinto was a bit crunchy, but acceptable. Look closely at your bill, the tip was included for a party of two. Worth a try.

Good Cuban food

By edegenhart |

Had a lunch meeting and asked one of the participants to recommend a good restaurant for lunch. Fortunately for the rest of the participants, the colleague who recommended the place is local, and as such, knows the best places to go. Madroño is a good place, where you get the value for your money, and more. The food is good and abundant, the service is of very good quality and they strive to make the experience the best they can. I will definitely go back.

Best Latin Food in Miami

By Lucia Q |

We have visited many Latin restaurants in Miami but this is the best restaurant overall. Excellent food, great service, and awesome prices!

Very good!

By Vivian T |

I went to Madrono restaurant with family and had a wonderful time. The food was very good. I went with a two month old baby and was able to have a great time. Definitely a restaurant that can be a place for a meeting, a date or just to go with family. I want to go back and try something else from their menu.

Good Nicaraguan food

By HectorFL |

The food is very traditional, tasty and well presented. Try the baby churrasco with gallo pinto. Service can be erratic and slow.

Great Nicaraguan Food!

Busy and bustling atmosphere. Love their Nacatamal and Gallo pinto. Very accommodating, friendly and attentive staff. A great selection of my favorite Nicaraguan dishes. We'll definitely return!

The Best Nicaraguan Food in Town

By Cruiser15235 |

El Madroño If you have ever wanted to experience the true "SABOR" of Nicaragua you must travel to the heart of the Nicaraguan Community...{Sweetwater} Great service in a warm and friendly ambiance... and the greatest food I have ever had.

Very good Nicaraguan food

By Travelnica |

When we are in Miami, my wife and I love to go eat Nicaraguan food because in Southern California there is none. My wife is Nicaraguan and I lived there for many years. We had to go to Miami for my niece's graduation, so when we landed, we picked up a car, picked up some friends and came directly here for her birthday. The restaurant is very clean, well decorated and comfortable. The waiters were quite friendly and efficient. We ordered the churrasco, puntos de filet and indio viejo. Everything was delicious except for the Indio Viejo. We had Pio V for desert and it was very good. If you want a casual, comfortable, well appointed restaurant for a nice meal, I would highly recommend El Madroño

Fine Dining for the whole family. Everything about our night made us feel like this is an authentic cultural experience.

By julie g |

Outstanding food at a price anyone would love. The server Philippe and Daniel made sure everything was perfectly presented. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and culture provided.

If You Like The Ranchos You Will Love This Place.

By ellas029 |

I had the carne asada with jalapeno sauce on the side, gallo pinto rice and ripe plantains the meat was tender and flavorful will definitely return .

My favourite nicaraguan restaurant in Miami

By Bruselense |

Every time I go ro Miami I eat at least once at El Madroño. In my opinion, the best nicaraguan middle price restaurant. The churrasco is very good, as well as antojios ( a kind of nicaraguan tapas ). The atmosphere is very pleasant ant the service very attentive. Very good prices, given the quality.

Excellent food and service

By HectorFL |

We had dinner a couple of days ago. We sat at the bar because the place was packed. The service was very good thru the meal even though they were very busy. The food is traditional Nicaraguan fare, and this is what we had. The nacatamal was an excellent appetizer. The churrasco was cooked as ordered, it was tender and savory, and the side orders of gallo pinto, plantains and mariquitas were excellent. The house wine is from California, but they have a good selection of beers, including Tona, the nicaraguan beer.

Hidden Gem near Dolphin Mall

By Isabella P |

After a long day at Ikea, my boyfriend and I needed a good meal and Madroño truly exceeded my expectations. The service was very good. Our waiter was attentive and our food came quickly. Everything we ordered was incredible. The food is also very well priced. I wish I could have tried more of their menu. I look forward to going back!

Food was good, but service could be better

By robrely2002 |

Being married to a Nicaraguan, I understand the food. This place has the potential to be great. Unfortunantley they automatically charge a 15% gratuity regardless of the party size. Needless to say the service was slow and in my opinion not worth giving the waiter that tip. Why strive to be nice and courteous you will automatically get paid. We waited for over 10 minutes when we finally flagged the girl down that gave us our water she apologized and stated they probably forgot us since our table was hidden and in a corner. Strike 1. The waiter came to take our order and we never saw him until we were done with our meal. Strike 2. Finally the girl that was busing the table was the one who offered to bring our bill .. not even asking if we wanted to dessert or anything. Strike 3. Although the food was good, I will not return to eat there unless #1 I take cash and then pay the amount I choose for a tip, or 2 I will order next door at the Pulperia (which is also owned by them) and take it to go. It's no surprise I guess to those who live in Miami that service is like that pretty much at every restaurant. But for someone traveling it leaves a pretty bad taste in your mouth.

Great Experience

By kathie97086 |

While visiting and shopping in Miami, we asked for a restaurant with local flavor and flair. We were advised the Madrono Restaurant would fit that bill. To our amazement, it met in and more. Truly exceeding our expectations. The food was delicious, a true authentic flavor. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on each entree. The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing. The location is not on the beaten path of Miami. However, I would strongly recommend you venturing off the beaten path for a truly memorable dinner.

Excellent Nicaraguan Food For Price

By pazalewski |

Madrono is a family-owned Nicaraguan restaurant located in the heart of Miami's Little Managua neighborhood. It's a long ride west from Downtown Miami and South Beach but well worth the trip. The food is authentic, tasty and extremely reasonably priced. The restaurant's interior is modern and inviting. The servers are attentive and friendly. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are craving or want to experience Central American cuisine.

Great Nicaraguan Food at a good price!

Good enviroment, is more a family oriented Restaurant, not too fancy but very clean and nice! Good service, the waiters are really nice! Great Nicaraguan food - but their desserts are better

By Myrna Reyes |

Situated near a busy avenue in Miami, this restaurant is what we referred to as a sleeper. As much as I love to recommend places, I'm hoping that this review doesn't make this place so popular that it won't be the same again. The restaurant boasts great food. Everything seems to be homemade. The restaurant is small in size. I did not actually count the tables, but can estimate there to be about 30 to 35 tables available. The décor is very subtle, the wait staff very attentive and professional. Each major meal does come with a salad, however, the salad is VERY small (actually served on a bread plate). Their homemade salad dressing is a keeper. It resembles some kind of thousand island, but not really. I normally had the churascco when I visit, whether it be the baby one or the regular size one. Bread on the table is always toasted to perfection. They do offer three sauces to go with your meal. All again, home made. I believe that as good as their food is, their desserts are even better. Paired with a great cup of coffee, you can't go wrong. The pricing is not too bad. Two meals (no drinks or appetizers or desserts) will run you about $30 per couple. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant, including handicap parking spaces. Do call before you plan to go as they do close on certain holidays and times of the year for vacation. This is a great place if you're traveling from out of town and need a home cooked meal. Do not let the location fool you. This place is in a shopping center, but it's a great restaurant nonetheless.

Pleasantly Surprised

By scorpion11475 |

I visited this establishment a couple of months ago with friends and had a great lunch. Extensive menu and pleasant staff. Some items were a little over priced for what they appeared to be.

Great Nicaraguan food and atmosphere at an unbeatable price.

By George D |

I work very close to this restaurant and have become a regular with other co-workers of mine. We always come for the lunch special which is a great bargain. The staff is friendly and they are always busy which I find to be a great sign. I always order the Carne Asada with Gallo Pinto and salad. I also get a queso frito (fried cheese) here and there. I definitely recommend visiting.

Excellent restaurant

By Carlos V |

I've been eating in Madrono since 1999 and the food has always been exceptional as well as the service. Traditional Nicaraguan food at reasonable prices. Over the years I've tried many of the different food and never had a complaint on anything I have ordered.

Authentic Nicaraguan cuisine

By Rick L |

Visited some clients in the area and they recommended this great neighborhood spot. It was crowded at lunch, the host indicated it would be approximately a twenty minute wait, fortunately our party of six was seated within ten minutes, the service was friendly and attentive, food was creative and fresh. The prices of their lunch specials were extremely reasonable under ten dollars for an entree, small salad and two side dishes. I look forward to returning on my next trip to Miami!

Great Food, Great Prices. Nicaraguan Food!

By tupgirl88 |

Have been here twice, once lunch, and dinner. Both times are consistent, pleasant ambiance for a strip mall restaurant. Churassco 17.99 for dinner including two sides and a salad. Garlic bread on the table is excellent. Baby Churassco is about 15.99. We had the fried cheese with plantain chips too. Very good. We were able to talk and without being rushed. Now, again, it was a Wed night. Would definitely go there again. Steak was perfect Med well. Gallo pinto (red beans and rice) excellent. and fried sweet plantains great.

Nicaraguan food as it's best

By Carlos M |

Not as expensive as some high end Nicaraguan restaurants around town with the same detail to service and quality food. Located in a Nicaraguan neighborhood, you know it is good food because it is always well attended. The churrasco is tender and well seasoned. The "gallo pinto" and "vigoron" make a great complement to the meal. Great service with smile and a very reasonable prices. Recommended for sure.

Good Nicaraguan food!

By bopicasso |

We ate here and it was delicious! Service was fast and friendly, food was cheap and delicious! Worth trying! The AC was very cold. Our entire group had goose bumps the entire time!

Best Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami

By ernesto d |

This is one of the best restaurants in Miami, Florida. It is definitely one with the most courteous and professional team of waiters and waitresses. Their attention to details at serving and even the ways in which they pick up the dishes from the table is to really admire. The food is delicious always, and their service is superb. Definitely one of the best restaurants you can visit if you’re in the mood for outstanding Nicaraguan food. A true family restaurant with a very unique vibe.

Good experience - we'll go again for sure...!

Madroño was recommended to us for affordable Nicaraguan cuisine, so we ate there last night. Look past the strip mall location in Sweetwater, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Upon entering, we immediately noticed the contemporary and upscale feel. All tables (no booths), very spacious, white table cloths, clean, and more importantly………………..packed with people, which to us translates as good food! We got there at 7 pm, and there were 2 tables available so we were seated right away. If no tables had been available, we would have happily sat at the counter which was clean and spacious with high back chairs. The background piano bar music made Madroño feel …………dare I say almost like “fine dining”?! Our friend had described it as a “hole in the wall”, but trust me, it was not…! The Staff were extremely professional and attentive. The menu was fairly extensive, and the prices were very reasonable. The food came quickly and was delicious. We both ordered the Carne Asada with gallo pinto (rice and peas), platano maduro (sweet plantains), and mariquitas (plantain chips). The meal came with a small salad. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful. The traditional condiments they brought to the table (chimichurri, etc) were also very good. We both drank water, and did not have dessert – the bill was $20.50 for the both of us, not including the tip. We will definitely return!

Can I eat here everyday? YES

Brilliant food

As a visitor to the country, a work colleague took me here. It was a late lunch and not overly crowded. The service was very good. This was one of the best, if not the best meal, I had during my week in Miami. It was very well priced.

Nice restaurant in a not so nice plaza.

Although our early dining started out at this place kind of disappointing in the end it was a good experience. We were seated about 10 minutes before 5pm but the server made sure that we will not be able to order anything until about 5:10 so they could refuse to serve us lunch items for a lower price... Strike 1...we wanted to try a Nicaraguan beer on the list..."sorry we have no cold one"...Strike 2... I was about to to prepare for strike 3 so we would just call a walk but then magically the whole experience turned around...The server came back that they found a cold beer for us and brought some nice bread with really interesting sauce. You see it's not that difficult to please your guests. The food was delicious and well prepared just as we ordered it but little bit on a smaller side of the size of the portion...probably to make up for a lower price. The decor is really nice compare to the strip mall that this restaurant is in.Bathroom was clean and updated...no complaints about the place is nice and clean. The waiter turned out to be really nice and attentive and recommended a Nicaraguan dessert based on that we wanted to try specific things related to the country. Overall in the end it turned out to be a very pleasant experience.

Great Nicaraguan food!

This place is fantastic! My wife and I visited this restaurant for a late lunch, and the food was great, service was great, and price was very reasonable. We shared a queso frito appetizer and it was very good. I had a grilled chicken breast and my wife had carne asada. Portions were good and taste was amazing. I don't know what they use to season the meats but they were fantastic. It was a great lunch in a very busy restaurant (eventhough it was past 2 pm).

Great Authentic Food

For me, Miami is not about South Beach or models, its all about celebrating the diverse Latin Culture. My best friend lives in Miami so when I come to visit she has a list of recommended Cuban, Nicaraguan, Argentinian and seafood restaurants for us to try. Madrono was number one on the list and worth the drive way out to 107th and Flagler. The restaurant, located in a strip mall on the corner (across the mall from Los Ranchos) was bright and clean and a line was forming out the door. We chose to sit at the bar as there was a very large family waiting to be seated. Nicaraguan Beer was served in an icy pilsner glass along with our other Dominican beer choice, Presidente. Nothing like an icy cold beer! Our server, Raymond, spoke excellent English and talked us through the menu choices with recommendations and suggestions. I highly recommend sitting at the bar and sipping an ice cold beer while you watch the food coming out of the kitchen for a while before ordering. The wait staff line plates all the way up their arms from shoulder to finger tips! If you see a dish that looks tempting - you can always ask someone what it was and then order it! I ordered the cerviche appetizer which was served on a icy bed of lettuce. Very good. The baby churrasso (grilled steak) was fork tender and the condiments, chimmichuri, marinated onions and something else that was a little spicy, enhanced every bite. I wish I could remember what it was that my friend ordered. It was under their menu section of fajitas but it was not like any fajitas that I had ever had before. It was tender strips of beef in a creamy jalapeno sauce that was to die for! The beef was cooked with onion and peppers and the sauce looked like beef stroganoff but it didn't taste like stroganoff. It was not hot/spicy but incredibly flavorful. I had a hard time not eating most of her dinner! I have spent the last few hours looking for a similar recipes on the internet and no luck so far! The service was great, atmosphere was nice. Lots of families eating together and waiters putting on quite the show of carrying 6 to 8 plates at a time up their long arms! Ask for Raymond. Everytime we saw something that we didn't know what it was, he either explained it to us or brought us a sample! That night it looked like the entire place was drinking big glasses of chocolate milk. Turns out it was a typical Nicaraguan drink made from cao cao, cinamon, sugar and milk. Absolutely delicious and definitely NOT on the diet! Prices are very reasonable. A wonderful not-to-be missed experience.

We have been here more than 6/7 times, good place - small but nice service and food. The food is original and testy. My favorite is the full fish 🐠 plate. I have to say we keep coming back because this restaurant is amazing and if you have to be in Miami and would like to try Nicaragüenses food without traveling over seas!!!!! This is the place. Enjoy 😉

Chic Nicaraguan corner

By Dr. RB |

A Nicaraguan friend took my partner and I to what seemed to be a cute chic corner restaurant that boasted authentic Nicaraguan cuisine. Indeed it was. From the sweet corn tamale with fresh cheese and cream to the bacon-wrapped filet mignon with a mushroom sauce, everything made me close my eyes and think YUM. We ended our meal with quatro-leche a dessert that gives the final out of body experience. This chic corner joint was a definite plus!

Excellent lunch experience

Madrono Restaurant

Madroño Restaurant on Flagler Street in Miami is a great place to eat for delicious food that is well prepared and flavorful. I really like the atmosphere that they have created here and everything on the menu that I have tried has been really good. They have excellent customer service here and are well worth a visit.

Higlhy overrated Nicaraguan restaurant

By Puerto06 |

Food quality was low quality compared to other top Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami(ie..El Novillo and Los Ranchos) and service was non-existent. Ambience is cafeteria style restaurant. Also only beer is served.

Why still wearing that Mask?

By God1973 |

I went to Madroño last night and I had notice already in several occasions that all the employees keep wearing this mask. If the owners are pressuring people to do that, is totally wrong. If the owners are afraid of COVID “which is gone” also, a disease with a 97%-99% survival, why making their employees wear something that is not a problem for them? The hypocrisy was that the owner was sitting down at the bar without the mask. Remember, here you are not in Nicaragua where you have a totalitarian government. Here employees ALSO have right as well. At the end of the day if Madroño don’t have employees they can’t continue making the money they do. STOP THE ABUSE !!!

By Albertomiami |

The steaks are very good. The soups are also very good. I had the "costillas soup" and it was outstanding, my wife had the chicken soup and it was delicious . We also had the pio quinto dessert, and it was out of this world. The service was quick. We sat at the bar, there was a lot people and we did not want to wait for a table. I definately will come back. A++++++++++++

Nicaraguan-ice Restaurant

By alvadido |

5 stars go to this gem in the heart of the Miami suburb. Nicaragua goodies like queso frito, gallo pinto and others, show how to do the Nicaraguan food to others in the area. An all around great experience, affordable, great food and great service. Well worth the drive out of the downtown and beach eateries.

Madrono located on 108 & Flagler Clean and has AMAZING Tasting Food

By Ileana Munoz |

I went to Miami and my friends picked me up and introduced me to Madrono, a Nicaraguan restaurant on 108 Ave and Flagler Street. I so longed for Nicaraguan food since we moved in 2021 from Miami to San Antonio, Texas, because there are no Nicaraguan restaurants here. In Miami there are so many choices, but here, unfortunately, that's not the case. Apparently this is a recent restaurant and was not familiar with it. Oh my God, everything was outstanding. I ordered "Las fajitas mixtas de carne y pollo en salsa jalapena." Although I live in Texas, I don't like spicy food and they were able to make the sauce without the jalapenos. It was absolutely delicious and very abundant. I had it with a house salad (their salad dressing is amazing!), gallo pinto and fried plantains. Everything was OUTSTANDING, from the service, to the food, to the prices. The restaurant was busy, but we went in relatively quick and the first thing I noticed is how clean it was. I noticed that the tables were cleared immediately and everything was spotless. The servers were very accommodating and attentive, my water glass was always full. I will definitely return and have already recommended it to my sister that still lives in Miami. We shared a Flan with little fruits on the top and it was also great, not too sweet and the fruits on the top had a little pit inside, but the outside is very tasty!
