Magdalena's is run by the long-time General manager of Da Marco. After he left Da Marco, his absence has been quite noticeable, both in the quality of service and the quality of food (of course, the previous chef also departed0. After disappearing for a number of months, we re-discovered him as the owner of Magdalena's, a new Italian Pizzeria with a lot of extras. When we visited, the bustling, happy place was full on a weeknight, yet we got prompt, friendly and helpful service. While initially we intended to taste some of the pizzas, we found they offered a Tagliatelle with truffles that evening, and it was truly delicious. They also had a Veal Osso Bucco that was perfectly prepared, although I would have preferred a thicker cut. The duck breast was well-prepared, medium rare, juicy and tender. The Panna Cotta was outstanding, better than most in town and the Budino di Limone was also quite memorable. The wine list is well above average for a "Pizzeria" and some of the really superior wines are very well priced. Overall, our expectations were clearly exceeded and we plan to return soon and frequently.

Magdalena’s is an unexpected find in the Upper Kirby area. The food is excellent with some unexpected treats: today, we had Umbrian Black Truffles risotto (seasonal) and the celery salad (seriously heavenly!). Yet it’s the wine list that sets it apart. They have the most thoughtfully curated wine by the glass with several Italian grapes rarely offered by the glass. Molto bene!

My wife and I had a wonderful early dinner yesterday at Magdalena's. The lobster ravioli was outstanding, and the Sicilian pizza was also excellent. And the service was very attentive and professional, and took care of all our special requests. And the ambiance was quiet and attractive. And it is very convenient to West U, where we live. We will be back.

This was our third visit to Magdalena's and it didn't disappoint. The potato gnocchi were luscious; the grilled octopus was flavorful, tender and juicy. The veal osso bucco was better than most in town and the Branzino was perfectly prepared, tender and delicate. The breast of duck was a very good medium, still juicy and tender, without being overcooked. Finally, the cheese pizza was a good and satisfying choice for our picky teen. Good, prompt and efficient service, well-priced wines and delightful desserts made for a very enjoyable evening.

Ate dinner here the night before the Houston Marathon. Portions are on the small side but inexpensive. The owner stopped by to talk to us and gave us cheese tortillion to go for free

Excellent, beautifully presented meal in a very clean and comfortable restaurant. Wow! Top quality food with superb service. We both had rave reviews for our dinners and look forward to our return.

Food is good. The pasta dishes taste very good. The prices are a bit high, especially the $8 upcharge for making a pasta dish a main. Service was spotty. However, the Chef really circulates the floor and tries to make sure everything is OK. He does have a lot of experience in Italian food. This is a new restaurant, so perhaps when the staff is more used to things, the service will improve. The restaurant can also be a bit noisy when it is full.
A hidden gem in Houston!
I can’t say enough about this place. I was staying in a hotel around the corner and thought it looked interesting. Wow could not have been better! I may fly back just to have dinner here. Great job!
