Wait, can I rate a place BELOW 1 star? Ugh. I placed a huge catering order about a month in advance. Following up to the pick up date of the food, I called the catering department a couple times just to absolutely make sure the order was confirmed and will be ready at the said time, I was reassured on more than one occasion the order is all set. Show up to Magianno's to pick up the catering order and they had NO IDEA of any order! How is that possible?! An order for 30+ people and you don't have it ready?! When I called catering department on the phone, they were able to locate the order but the restaurant catering wasn't able to? Well that makes no sense. This is completely unacceptable and I have no words to describe the hatred and disappointment I feel towards this place. If you need catering and this was the last place on earth, I still wouldn't recommend it. Long story short, this place sucks!

Okay - I feel a little bad, but this was our last resort restaurant for our evening. We tired to get reservations at at least 10 different places before we found this one. First - we loved the atmosphere. It was nicely lit, spacious, and comfortable. We enjoyed the music that was playing too. We did the dinner for 2 - and got salads, pasta, and then upgraded to the dessert flight. It was all delicious. Oh - and you get bread with olive oil and parm before! **the dessert flight is SO cute and we would highly recommend** We ate as much as we could and were STUFFED. All of that food and we paid $60, and then we had a coupon for making reservations online! We made sure to tip well because our server was fantastic. I would go back here in a heartbeat!

Went here for our anniversary supper. The service was very good. We had the ravioli and a steak dish and both were excellent. If you’re looking for a mid priced place in downtown Chicago, go here. Place is clean with a nice atmosphere. Great happy hour specials too! Would eat here again.

We went for dinner and Marianne served us. Great food and a great server. He made us feel relaxed and very special. The food was to die for.

Maggianos is a traditional restaurant on Little Italy neighborhood, with great Italian food, large portions to share and fresh ingredients. I’ve ordered a Sea Bass with veggies that was great! Desserts are huge, the Chocolate cake is enough for 3 people...

The personalized dinner service for our group was outstanding. Given the size of the group, I was amazed that the quality was the same as their regular menu!! Thank you!

We are big fans of Maggiano's in Boston where we live and Orlando where we visit, but the food disappointed me here. They made a saltimbocca substituting veal for chicken, which was appreciated, but the sauce had too much sage for me to enjoy it. The pasta side with butter had garlic and I didn't care for that. The mozzarella cheese in the caprese salad was superb but the tomatoes were as dry, tough and flavorless as any you could find in a supermarket in winter (come on, guys, you can do better than that). Service was slow but this was July 4 so they may hve been understaffed.

Great location in downtown Chicago. A few blocks from the Magnificent Mile Michigan Ave. Family style restaurant. The food was excellent. Included with the dinner is a 2nd order of pasta to go. A pleasant surprise.

If you love great food excellent service go Maggiano's. The chopped salad it great but they offer different other salad. I will be going back the end of the month and will be having dinner there again

We don't typically go to chain restaurants, but we had gift cards, so decided to give it a try. We actually had a very nice experience. Service and food were both very good. We had a number of pasta and chicken dishes and liked them all. Definitely recommended is the seasonal sangria, which was made with fresh fruit and strawberry puree - excellent.

The Mrs. and I decided to spend a night downtown and picked Maggiano's for dinner based on our positive previous experiences. We made reservations well in advance and were anxious to have a nice dinner together. When we arrived we were advised that it would be a few minutes before we would be seated which was understandable on a busy Friday night. What is not understandable is for the hostess to move from her station to greet friends (known by a hug and a "of course I can get you in") that came in well after us and immediately seat them ahead of all the other waiting parties. Every after couldn't make up for that moment where we felt so unvalued. Our server did a fine job and the food was great as expected but my wife and I just couldn't shake how we (and others) were treated by the hostess. Very disappointing.

My husband and I found this restaurant walking down the street in Chicago and I couldn’t be happier we found it! It is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant. We are excited to make another trip to Chicago just to experience this place again!

This is the second unflattering review I’m submitting for Maggiano’s flagship restaurant. After the first one, I decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately nothing’s changed. In fact it’s gotten worse. I remember when Maggiano’s first opened as part of the Lettuce Entertain You chain of outstanding restaurants in the 90s. Those of you who remember can remember the experience. My last visit was unbearable. I treated my niece and husband-to-be to a pre-wedding outing, their first time. Reservations were for 7:00 since I told them we needed to get there early to ensure a good table because it was so popular. When we arrived we were seated in the back even though the restaurant was virtually empty (and stayed that way until we left!). We decided to order from the “family style” menu. The waitress, though nice, was at our table literally every three minutes asking if we were ready to order. The food was a disaster. The groom’s smoked old fashion arrived in a chipped and cracked glass. The food - all of it - in my opinion, was terrible. It all tasted like it came from containers and was warmed. The dessert selection was nice (how can you mess up chocolate cake and tiramisu?). I was told by locals that Maggiano’s is holding on because it had become a tourist trap, but even the tourists weren’t there this Thursday evening. So sad. I remember how it use to be.

This is the first time visit to this restaurant. The waiter was pretty good at the service and asked if it is the first time we are visiting place. When we said yes, the chef comes to us and gives a complimentary appetizer to make us feel good about the place. The food was amazing. Ambience is classic. Sure you should visit this place when you are staying or traveling in North Chicago.

I went last night with my wife. We are on holiday in Chicago and came across this restaurant. It looks great from the outside and we decided to go in and eat. It was great decision. We both ordered pasta dishes. First thing, the portions were very generous, the second thing, we both agreed that it was the best past we had ever eaten. We had a jug of Sangria which was also very refreshing and really accompanied the pasta. Desserts, I cannot comment on as we were too full. Our waiter was also extremely polite and attentive and the atmosphere was very Italian and extremely enjoyable. Great meal and highly reccomend.

This is legit Italian food, and you get a lot of it. We weren't expecting so much food. If you leave and are still hungry it's your fault. The pasta is fantastic, and the atmosphere is pure Italy. This was such a nice place to have dinner, it was quiet, and you can really enjoy a meal here. This is a really classy place: you really get your money's worth.

We came here with 8 friends on a Sunday night and had a 7:00 reservation. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and waited for 30 minutes to be seated. As we arrived to our table our waitress told the hostess to stop seating people so quickly. Our waitress was rude and abbrassive the entire meal. I felt that i could not ask anything without getting scolded. She messed up our order twice which resulted in some people getting their food once others were done eating. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for Italian food but if you are coming here for a well rounded experience I would look elsewhere.

No doubt, best Italian of Chicago! Excellent pasta and wine! Besides the impeccable care of Rigo and Kevin! Don't stop going! Elen @sp4you

Wife loves this place and the Veal piccata is her favorite by far . Son got spaghetti and was happy and I got the brunch French Toast and bacon and by far the best French toast ever. Very nice place to go.

I was in Chicago at Northwestern Hospital with friends. After a very long day, we were looking for a nice dinner before driving home. We had been to Maggiano's before and had never been disappointed. the food is very good. I particularly enjoyed the chicken parm and the fettucini alfredo. The tirami su is wonderful. the food may be surpassed by the service, which is friendly, accommodating and excellent overall. Valet parking is offered for a modest fee, and is very convenient. Prices seemed reasonable for the quality of the dining experience.

very good food. Our waiter disappeared for long periods of time. The restaurant was not busy and several times we had to go looking for him. Initially he dropped the menus on the table, said nothing and left. We had a group of 9. With that many more attention would have made for a better experience. The chain is better than this location which should be avoided.

Have been coming here intermittently over the last twenty years and quality has gone downhill. Just didn’t have the feeling that care was taken with the cooking, underwhelming experience overall.

Really enjoyed this place with a good variety of family style foods including caesar salad, stuffed mushrooms, fettucini and calamari.

Excellent, friendly service! Good food, decent prices and very comfortable setting! It was the perfect way to end a very busy weekend

Great service, lovely atmosphere, friendly patrons. Food was exactly the traditional Italian expected. Recommend for lunch or dinner, on a date or solo doesn’t matter!

This restaurant was really just what I was looking for before leaving Chicago. Not too fussy and not too casual. We stopped in for early dinner on a Sunday. I would recommend reservations if going after 5:00 p.m. The bread was good. The spinach and artichoke dip was even better. Pasta just as good as I’d hoped. Even the picky 3-year-old devoured his food. You can order family style or individual servings. They have a huge menu and portions are large. There was also an portion to take home. So much food! Service was attentive even though we had a new server. I asked a lot of questions and he found the answers. I would definitely visit this location again when in Chicago.

We went with a very large group that had the party room next door. Food was good and the staff were working hard. Finding any place that accommodates a group of 70 is tough but this place worked hard to make it happen.

When I was high school sports editor of the Chicago Daily News and Chicago Sun-Times, we held our All-Chicago Area football, basketball, baseball and softball banquets at the Como Inn on Halsted, near Grand Avenue. It was a wonderful Italian restaurant, straight out of Rome or Naples. Chicago hasn't seen its like since. But Maggiano's Little Italy brings back fond memories. Located at 516 North Clark Street, at Grand, in the River North neighborhood, it is the flagship of the Lettuce Entertain You empire, a semi-upscale chain for classic Italian cuisine that was founded in 1991 and has grown to include 52 locations. Open from 11:30 to 10 Monday through Thursday, 11:30 to 11 on Friday, 11 to 11 on Saturday and 11 to 10 on Sunday, its atmosphere says Como Inn from appetizer to dessert. We started with Italian meatballs with marinara sauce and garlic crostini, balsamic tomato bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, basil, balsamic glaze, roasted garlic and pesto and Caesar salad with grated parmesan and garlic croutons. For an entree, my half-Italian wife chose pork Osso Bucco with sauteed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes with demi-glace. I had spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce. One of my current projects is to find Chicago restaurants that feature the best spaghetti and meatballs and Maggiano's certainly is in the conversation. For dessert, we shared tiramisu, lady fingers soaked in Espresso with mascarpone cheese, and creme brulee with caramelized sugar and fresh berries.

Fancied an Italian meal whilst visiting Chicago. Did some research and based on other TA reviews selected Maggiono's. The food, service and overall experience did not disappoint. Like the size of the restaurant also didn't feel too crowded. Recommend the Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Marsala Certainly recommend a visit to Maggianos.

I state that I do not go looking for Italian restaurants abroad, however, we come across this very spacious place and decide to have dinner, convinced also by the fairly varied menu. The portions are generous (even too much) and the quality of the food is average, despite there being very little Italian. There are some very unusual jumbles of ingredients for Italian cuisine, a reinterpretation of the dishes that I did not like. Friendly staff but, as often happens in American restaurants, a bit hasty; I had The impression that our table had to be cleared quickly. In short, without infamy and without praise.

A colleague recommended this place, so I made a reservation by phone. It's a short walk from the Red Line station. I had the Club Cake (crab cream croquette) and cheese ravioli. They were delicious. The staff were polite. The white wine was delicious, but the wine glass was broken, so I only got a discount for that.

Dinner at Maggiano’s is always a treat! Love the bread to begin... then the best salad anywhere is their Maggiano’s salad..wish I could duplicate that at home!! That salad dressing is sold in their restaurants though! Then their lasagna! Take two is such a great deal! One to take home.... or I love their chicken piccata! And a glass of wine! Great place! Never disappoints! Service was superb too! We had a reservation but only a short wait for our table.

After a few loud places, we liked the quiet here - quiet even with March Madness on the TVs in the bar. We sat in the bar area, which was fine. Shared an Itallian Tossed Salad and Mediterranean Spaghetti, both quite good and plenty for us. Also shared the double chocolate brownie with ice cream, which was excellent. Service was very friendly and attentive despite someone having quit that day. And our order came with an additional classic pasta to take home - we didn't even know about that.

Had a reservation for 6:30 on 29 DEC for a party of 6. Originally, the party count was for 5, but I updated that when I reconfirmed the reservation just after 12 that day. Arrived at the restaurant at 6:25 and was told by the snippy hostess that she would text me when our table was ready. Text me! We were standing within talking distance. She said that the table was being cleared and would be ready right away. Anyway, by 6:40, the table was not ready. Talked with the manager on duty, who was not very helpful. He apologized for the backlog and busy evening. Once again, we had a reservation for 6:30. One of our party found a table for six at Sushi San down the block at 6:45. Had a wonderful dinner there and the restaurant was busy. We frequent the Maggiano's in Boca Raton at least once a year and we have never been treated like we were at the restaurant in Chicago. This is a sad place to eat. I do not recommend the place. We all were looking foreword to it, but alas, it was not to be.

The lasagna was amazing and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a large serving two people actually can share and get full

Since the change to buy one take one home, I'm not as big a fan. The food is good, but if you are walking around after dinner, it's a good place to chill for coffee and dessert.

I've never been so badly served in a restaurant in my life. Oh, bad! Very bad mood since we arrived at the restaurant.

I like Maggiano’s and can always depend on them for a darn good meal. Tonight was no exception, I had the Maggiano salad, and spegitti and meatball with meat sauce and it was outstanding. Service was excellent as I can say it was reasonably priced for a downtown restaurant.

Located in the city center and close to our hotel. Nice atmosphere. Fast and courteous service. The food was excellent quality/price (good quantity and good temperature).

My husband and I stopped in to have dinner. I did a quick pull up on TA to see how it was rated. It was just a street over from where we were staying, so very convenient. Great Food and Great service!! On to the food .. as far as I can tell it was very reasonably priced considering how prices everywhere had gone up. Portions are Large and SO good. I had Spinach, Chicken, cheeses & a cream sauce Manicotti .. my husband had Chicken Parmesan and he loved his too. Noodles seem to be homemade or just really good quality. We both basically rolled out of there stuffed 😆 Had we had a refrigerator and not traveling I would have kept 1/2 to eat at another time. I refused to waste it or leave it !! Highly recommend.. you won’t be disappointed!!

Maggiano's is a chain that offers Family Style Dinners for groups of 4 or more. We visited today, and enjoyed the ambiance of the holiday decor, minus the crowds. The valet is quick and courteous, the desk was polite, and we were seated within a minute of our reservation time. Our server, Raul, was the best. He made the evening quite enjoyable, and kept the pace of dinner perfect for a celebratory meal. We were not rushed, and we were able to visit and enjoy. The food was excellent--favorites included the Sausage and Peppers, Lasagna, Veal Parmesan, Chicaken Piccatta, and meatballs. The dessert pound cake and brownies were delicious, and the lemon cookie plate for our celebration was very yummy. It was nice of Maggianos and Raul to provide the treat for us. I recommend Maggianos, and would make a reservation.

This was SO good! This is pasta at it's finest...and the Lemon Cookies are to die for, WOW!!! The staff was a lot of fun and AWESOME! And to think, we asked one of Chicago's finest Police Officers where to go and he NAILED IT referring us here. You'll never go wrong at Maggiano's Little Italy.

Brand name, modest prices, and forgettable food. Chicago offers so many culinary delights, so why bother with Maggiano's? If you like a quick and rather boring eat, Maggiono's will do. There are other options in the similar price range.

I can remember eating here over 20 years ago and absolutely loving the food, atmosphere, etc.! The staff was friendly and the food was superb! Now if we can just get one in our little city in Texas!

We excitedly ordered $130 worth of carryout food for New Year's Eve. Salads, main courses, sides and desserts were ordered in advance with great care. There was no line, so they had plenty of time to check our order. My husband collected a huge bag, and he didn't think to go through and unwrap every item. When we got home we found the bag was full of bread, butter, other supplies and half of our order. I called and they determined a second bag was missing, but they couldn't find it, so they would remake the missing items. I left on my own so that the others could enjoy New Year's Eve and I went back to the restaurant. I was offered nothing for my trouble or to compensate for their mistake. When I got home the second time I found that I had been given the entree size, not the family size we had paid for, of the WRONG salad. I called, and later my husband called. He was told they would send us gift cards to make it right. We just got them. $20 of gift cards to compensate for all of that driving, frustration, and the wrong order. We won't be back.

WOW! Tasty Italian food. The house salad was huge and shared at our table. I had the mussels and they were delicious and plentiful. The owners walked table to table to inquire of food and service. Our server was prompt, professional and plesant.

This group has about 40 locations and serves tasty dinners. I ordered the veal parm. Not only was it a good meal, the portion was huge, 3 decent cutlets plus a nice side dish of pasts. I ate at the bar and enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the bar tender.

Was walking around a lot and felt like Italian food while in Chicago tbh and came to this place. I shared food with my mom and it was all good. We split the bread and ate that. And then she got the moms home made lasagna with meat. Was delicious and flavored perfectly. And I had the Rogatoni Arrebieta. Was spicy and cheesy and wasn’t sure if I’d like it but I loved it. Very good Italian dish. I’d order it again. Waitress was good and she had recommended it and I thought it was really good. We were too full for desert sadly cause we went on a food tour earlier and already ate a lot that day. but the food there was very good and I’d go again.

From the Stuffed Mushrooms to the Linguine and Clams, the perfect pairing was the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. End your dining experience with the Mini Dessert Sampler, and be bold by ordering all five.

We had 2 pasta plates. One bruschetta and 1x glass of wine. $61 before tip. Nothing to get excited about. Its a family restaurant. If you like large plates little taste. I prefer smaller plates that are tasty. Service was great.

We drop by Maggiano's every time we are in town. We love the family style dining - for $34.95 per person - you are well fed. Call ahead for reservations and you'll get in quickly. The food is real Italian style. Service was quick and every coarse that cam out was another adventure. Can't wait to go back.

Took family and friends for dinner. Large portions filling and very tasty. Good selection of family favourites. Service was prompt.

We had a little of everything, lasagna to Alfredo pasta. Salad was good with house dressing, pasta very fresh tasting and the leftovers gave as lunch.

Maggiano's had tables sitting on the sidewalk and the beautiful evening was too nice to be indoors. The restaurant had gotten some nice reviews, and I wanted to see if one of my favourite Italian meals was on offer -- Veal Saltimbocca. Sadly, there was no veal saltimbocca on offer, but chicken saltimbocca was available. I had a fixation on this dish, and so accepted the substitution of chicken for veal. I was happy with my main course, though I would have preferred a bit more sage on the chicken, more prosciutto, and less cheese. Still the flavour was nice. I had ordered a spinach salad which was quite nice, and the waitress allowed me to substitute asparagus for the spaghetti which normally comes with this meal. Real Italian -- no, clearly not. But, the waitress was very helpful, the portion generous, the wine was not expensive, and the food was nice. Worth a visit.

We had a wonderful waitress for starters. The food was amazing. We had the cheese ravioli and chicken parmesan. Flavors tasted very fresh!

I recently had dinner for the first time here and was disappointed with the food. I walk by this restaurant almost every day on my way to work and was excited about getting there to eat. I walked in and the host was friendly and familiar. I waited for my friend to meet me, and then he escorted us to a window table and this is impressive. We talked and there was no pressure to order to move quickly and this was appreciated. We ordered calamari for a starter and this was too salty. The bread offered was good with olive oil. My friend had a salad as a starter and said they enjoyed this. For a meal I ordered sausage and pasta and my friend ordered salmon. The salmon was dry. My pasta and sausage was served too hot, the bowl was boiling when he set it down at my place and that is never wanted. The sausage was well done, so the flavor was never there. I would have liked something different to happen here. The waiter was distant and never connected with us. They offered us lemon cookies at the end of the meal as we did not try any desserts. The tab was 86.00. We did not complain but maybe we should have. Never again here.

good down home family fare. We enjoyed the gnocchi and the chef's special. Our server was part of the reason that we had such an enjoyable experience. Worth a visit.

The service wasn’t good at all. Ordered some food and drinks, they forgot the drinks. Then they brought what I ordered and it was really bad. A Negroni that was only Campari. The only good thing is that the food was tasty and the place has its beauty.

Food that you dream about after the fact. Don't skip the appetizer or dessert (please try combo of spinach salad and fried zucchini - not remotely greasy I promise - please also try the chocolate cake - enough to share) and plan to stay awhile. Service is impeccable, I was lucky enough to be joined by local friends, but I'd have been comfortable and felt safe there as a solo business traveler. The homemade linguine was amazing. Love.

Went to dinner at 7PM on a Monday night. Being seated quickly was no problem. The dining room is very large and the wait staff is very attentive. I started off with a Whiskey Sour. I had a bowl of Cream of Broccoli soup which was very tasty, very rich. For my entree I had an order of Chicken Marsala that came in a delicious mushroom sauce. The servings were such that I barely finished my entire meal. The price of everything was much less than would be expected. If you have a chance to eat at Maggiano's be sure to make it a stop for dinner.

Our son just had his wedding and reception here and it was amazing! The staff outdid themselves in all aspects. We were so pleased with the beautiful ambiance, the attentive staff, the delicious, plentiful food and scrumptious desserts. We could not be more pleased with how everything turned out. A huge thank you to all there who helped make our evening so special and so memorable!

We ate at Maggiano's our first night in Chicago. The food is fabulous, the quantities are large, and the service was spectacular. Our waitress, Andrea, was exceptionally attentive and kind. The bread, olive oil, and parmesan cheese combination were delicious. We ordered chicken and shrimp pasta and chicken marsala. The restaurant was very busy and make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Made plans to meet friends for brunch. We have been to Maggiano’s many times. But had not been to this particular one in the last year. Thought brunch would be really good given the many times we’ve eaten there for lunch or dinner. Other than my husband’s hash and eggs (that he thought was good, not great) the remaining four decided our food was very mediocre. My Italian frittata was boring and not quite warm when delivered. Another friend had overlooked eggs that she had to send back. We were disappointed and hope they can improve their brunch offerings.

The service is fantastic, thank you Caroline. My friend and I are both hungry and decided to have Italian dish. This place is conveniently located from our hotel, A Loft at Downtown Chicago. Directly from our hotel. Restaurant is very clean and spacious. The staff is wonderful. I ordered the Mediterranean Spaghetti and it was good. And the bread they gave us was so fresh and soft. Thank Caroline for the wonderful service and tips for the Chicago marathon.

We were able to enjoy a great meal outside and experience all the sights and sounds of downtown Chicago. The nightly special was well prepared and the fresh pasta was cooked perfectly.

This is the original Maggiano's, and I have taking high school groups here for many years as we compete in speech and debate and then celebrate with a family style feast. It is always fun, delicious, and plentiful. In fact, if you leave Maggianos hungry, something is wrong.

I ate (scarfed down): stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari, eggplant parmesan, clams and linguine in a white sauce, salmon, chicken piccata, and lemon cookies. How is that even possible, you might ask? Well, I ate family style with a bunch of friends. And boy was it good. My favorites were the calamari and the clams and the lemon cookies. The clams arrived in a very large serving platter, and even in volume, the pasta was sauced well, piping hot: simply delicious. And Maggianos did not skimp on the clams. The calamari was so good that we ended up using our fingers, shamelessly, to pick up the scraps. And even after multiple courses when we swore that maybe it might be wise to bring dessert home rather than consuming it on the premises, we still stuffed lemon cookie after lemon cookie into our mouths. I loved everything I ate, and the price for a family style meal was super reasonable. In fact, when we received the check, we scratched our heads, we looked at the bill, we looked at each other, how could it possibly be so cheap? Did they leave someone's meal off? Were we somehow miscalculating what we owed? No, it was super cheap, super reasonable. I left a very satisfied customer.

I have had pre-booked at table at Maggiano's near our hotel based on reviews, as we did not wanted to waste time looking for a place to eat. I must say that I was positively surprised by the atmosphere and design in the venue. The service was great. Our waitress Shelby did not only recommend us really good wine to pair with our dishes, she also pointed out the secret menu (revenue from dishes goes to a charity), which was a score. We were so full that there was no space for desert, but I believe that it would have been as great as our starters and main dishes as well.

We had dinner at Maggiano's last night and even though the food was good, they did a really sly trick on us which really annoyed us. At the end of the meal the waitress brought over lemon cookies and said here guys, here's a little gift from me to you guys and put them on our table. We said oh thanks! We ate them even though they weren't very nice but we felt kind of obliged after being given them as a gift for free. We get the bill and as we are leaving I noticed we were charged 3 dollars for the lemon cookies. The cost is not what matters. 3 Dollars is a small amount but the principle of giving us something for free as a gift and then charging us was absolutely disgraceful. I don't know if this is a regular thing they do or it was just this waitress. I should have complained in the moment but I kind of let it go as it was such a small amount. But on reflection it was a sly and scam move on their part. Very disappointing as the food is good but I don't think I will return and if you are planning on going there watch out for this little scam

I can’t honestly believe I’m saying that after experiencing their Orlando branch on several occasions but the service just fell slightly short. A bit chaotic and just not very smiley This is the original branch of Maggianos so I had high hopes, and the standard of food was excellent. I had regular bruschetta which was very tasty and made with high quality fresh ingredients and the linguine de mare which was just lovely. Sadly the slightly nonchalant service and the overlap delivery of mains with starters (starters took a while, mains came out 10 mins later and we’d barely finished, no room on table for fresh food being delivered) just took the edge off one of my go-to upmarket chain offerings in the US. Looks like this branch is just more lack lustre than its Orlando sister

Consitent food quailty.alwayhs get your money worth.parking a hassle unless you live around there but have valet and a parking alot across the street. Everything is good on menu, usallyget the meal for two[2] nice deal. You get a split apptizer 2 main couses with extra one to take home. You cannot even finish the 1st one. Also get a dessert to split. But you can things seperatly off the menu.

Was in Chicago on business and went to dinner with a team of around 20 people. As a result, Maggiano's put us in a private dining area. Also, the menu was fixed before we got there. But there was a great variety of pasta, fish, beef and chicken dishes. Portions are HUGE!. Was it the best Italian food I've had in Chicago? Not really. But for a big chain type place that can accommodate groups up to 200+, this place works well.

This place was fantastic! We were in town for spring break for 4 days and out of all the places we ate this was our favorite. Simple, elegant traditional Italian at its best. I had the gnocchi and sausage. Best gnocchi I’ve had. Perfectly cooked! My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. Also worth mentioning, no matter what you order they send you home with a full order of anything from their “classic” menu. I asked for lasagna and it was also delicious warmed up the next day.

Nice restaurant! I highly recommend eating here. I was visiting the city and looking for a good meal. I thought you couldn't go wrong with Italian and I was right. This place has a fancy feel to it with great food. The service was great! Stop in and see for yourself. Enjoy!

Went with friends for lunch. The $44.50 Special was all that n more! An app, 2 entrees, a dessert n 2 to take home! We'll b back. The frozen peach bellini was delicious!!

Great food and wine.......extensive menu......this restaurant was probably the best value for money we visited in Chicago

This is a good Italian restaurant that excels in service. The portions are large so it is easy to share. We particularly liked the classic Italian pastas with a portion to take home. The deserts are great and shareable.

Service was very good and the atmosphere was nice. I was there with my wife and both requested pastas as main dish, both agreed that quality was not good, sauce Alfredo was not exactly as original one. The exception was the dessert, we share a tiramisu which was extremely good. Price is high as usual at that area of Chicago

We made reservations for four for Friday night and were glad we did because this restaurant was packed with people. We ordered calamari as an appetizer which was delicious. The wait staff did an excellent job in terms of knowing when to deliver each course . The only objection to this restaurant was the noise of all the customers. It was difficult to talk or hear anyone at our table. It didn’t help being seated next to a large table of 25 people.

We frequent Maggiano’s, we went there on Saturday for our anniversary. Wow, just shocked, they not only increased the prices but some are up $10 per entrée. You expect some price increases but they went full out ridiculous. A bottle of wine is now $41, it was about $28 before. My husband ordered a drink and it was $16.50. We only stayed because it was our anniversary. Their appetizers are no longer affordable. OMG and they charge so much more for their entrees and cut back on the portions, really. My husbands meal came with mashed potatoes and I swear it was about two tablespoons of potatoes. Mine came with vesuvio potatoes and I had about 5 tiny wedges. I am so very disappointed in what they have done with the prices. I used to brag about Maggiano’s and would highly recommend everyone go there, good food and reasonable prices. Those days are gone and we will not be going back. Our bill for lunch was $179. Never again

Let me count the reasons it's worth a visit. Full of wonderful sights, sounds and aroma! A family friendly gal fashioned Italian restaurant that does everything right. A really good selection of moderately priced wines, staff that know whether pairings are good and how the food is made. My wife started with a really good spinach salad (her favorite) and then she had wonderful Crab Cakes and I started with a small Caesar salad and then had Linguine de Mare with so much seafood that I had a huge bowl of mussel and clam shells left over. There were lots of shrimp and pieces of lobster too; it was outstanding. I started going there while in Chicago for business and later, my wife and I have been going there simply because they do such a good job. It has always been "a special place" to visit. Chicago has lots of good restaurants: Maggiano's is one of the best.

I’ve been going to Maggiano’s for at least 20 years. When I visit Chicago all my friends know where I want to go for dinner…Maggiano’s on Clark. It’s become a ritual and standing joke (“..You know we have other nice restaurants in Chicago”). My last visit however was somewhat of a letdown. Don’t get me wrong. The decor and atmosphere are great. I love the warmth of the wood interior of the dining room. The waitress was friendly although the server brought out the main course but forgot the Maggiano’s salad which, when arrived, the waitress offered as complimentary. I had no issue with the discontinuation of the complementary entree offered to take home. Though unique, I understand the current state of the economy. My problem was the discounting of the “classic menu”, which in itself, had slid down a few notches over the years. Instead of the spaghetti and meatball (meatballs in the past), the meatball is advertised as a Waygu meatball. “Better quality” the waitress claimed. Right. I could understand Waygu tartare, but I found the $26 price of an overcooked meatball smothered in spaghetti sauce not very authentic.

My husband and I haven't eaten at a Maggiano's for along time, the service being bad. We thought we'd try it again, won't be back however. We wwalked in with a reservation and the restaurant was really slow. The hostess asked us to wait. A few minutes later a walkin table of 3, no reservation, came in. They were promptly seated. I asked why, the hostess said nothing and eventually seated us. The food was great, our waitress not. She was scatterbrained, had to tell her twice about my complimentary pasta, then ended up having to ask someone else for it. Not the best experience.

We love maggianos food it’s always great. The service was awful our waiter needed to get fired but we just left it alone and didn’t say a thing my family hates confrontation so we leave it be. We still gave him a proper tip wish never gave a tip.He keeps messing our orders drinks never got refilled, and ask why we are overcharged our ticket for something attempted to gave us cash from his own tip money liked he inconveniently our fault we ask for manager and said he was too busy and fix our ticket anyway. My family of 5 was very irritated with the situation and starting to get mad we paid our bill and proper tip and just left.

We were in Chicago for my birthday and this restaurant was close to our hotel. It is decorated nicely and service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. The servings were more than enough and food was very good. I would recommend the Fettuccine Alfredo. They brought me lemon cookies for my birthday, tasted absolutely wonderful. I would definitely good back next time I am in Chicago.

We came here for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was almost full. Ordered the Chicken Romano and a side of spinach salad for two ofus to share. The chicken was moist and the angel hair pasta was good. The staff was friendly and helpful, giving us information on the nearest supermarket.

Great food, service and atmosphere. The food had a great flavor and temperature was on target. The server was very informative about the menu and quick. I had the chicken Marsala and my wife and daughter shared the baked ziti, the portions were a perfect size.

Really good traditional Italian food at established restaurant. The chopped salad was a good choice for a side.

We were a table of 8 and had to order from a set menu for the table. The food was plenty and very very tasty. The service was excellent and a great time was had.

Late night visit after a long voyage...just need good food fast prior to go to bed...other places crowded on Friday but a quick table was made available fir me...Long Island cocktail could be better...the veal was ok...good pasta...next time will try the tiramisu..

I’m glad that I didn’t t have breakfast. The raucous and spaghetti with meatballs (huge) were amazing. The service was phenomenal and the complimentary pasta meal to go is a no brainer -thank you. It is always a big feast with go to containers and at least two birthday celebrations. The atmosphere is contagiously positive. Location. Is right in downtown by Clark and grand streets. There valet parking so easy

We dined here during our recent family vacation with 2 adults & 3 teens. We ordered the family style dinner & chose the Maggiano’s Salad, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, famous rigatoni, lasagna, chicken Marsala, chicken Parmesan, apple crostata & chocolate layer cake. Family style was fun because we could all try multiple dishes. They brought us So. Much. Food. It was all delicious, but the stuffed mushrooms, chicken Parmesan, & desserts were our favorites. It was pricey, but we had budgeted for it, so it worked. We made a reservation in advance, but I don’t know that you’d have to have one, especially on a weeknight like when we visited.

Over the years, my wife and I have dined at Maggiano's restaurants from Chicago to Washington DC and from Denver to Tampa. We especially enjoy having lunch and dinner at Maggiano's flagship restaurant, which opened in 1991 at 516 North Clark Street, at Grand, in Chicago's River North neighborhood. Founded by Rich Melman as part of his Lettuce Entertain You restaurant empire, it is a semi-upscale chain for classic Italian dishes served in a relaxed, polished venue. Open from 11:30 to 10 Monday through Friday, 11 to 11 on Saturday an 11 to 10 on Sunday, Maggiano's touches all bases when it comes to traditional Italian fare. Its spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce is tops but, on this occasion, I opted to sample the Branzino Crab Imperial with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and lobster cream sauce. Branzino always makes my taste buds tingle. For her entree, my wife also chose Branzino, or Branzino Fresca Style, pan-seared with spinach, roasted tomatoes and lemon herb sauce. Branzino has been a highlight of our more fish/less meat diet since we were introduced to the Mediterranean sea bass at a Florida restaurant a few years ago. Earlier, we started with bruschetta with tomatoes, basil, roasted garlic, pesto and balsamic glaze, garlic bread with white truffle ricotta butter and Italian cheese, Italian meatballs with marinara sauce and crostini and Caesar salad with grated parmesan and garlic croutons. For dessert, we shared tiramisu and warm apple crostada. Lunch or dinner, Maggiano's never misses a beat.

If you like Italian foods it is the place where you should go! Both very tasty and ideal portions. Fantastic place!

I met a friend who works in the area here for lunch. I was pleased at the lunch menu which offered several nice combos, very reasonably priced Midday, this attractive restaurant was on the quieter side, which made for easy conversation. The service was prompt but unobtrusive.

My wife and I have dined at several of the Maggiano's Little Italy restaurants over the years, from Chicago to Denver to Washington DC to Skokie to Tampa to Richmond and beyond. There are 52 locations in 23 states but we think the flagship restaurant at 516 North Clark Street, at Clark and Grand, in downtown Chicago, which opened in 1991, is the leader of the chain. Maybe it's because we are native Chicagoans and Chicago is noted for outstanding Italian restaurants and Maggiano's is what an Italian restaurant is supposed to be. So, after spending a vacation in New Orleans where Cajun and Creole dominate nearly every menu, we looked forward to returning to Chicago and spending an evening at Maggiano's. We ordered our usual fare...bruschetta, minestrone, Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, veal marsala with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans with bacon and tiramisu. Delicious. It's good to be home.

The wife and I had a night out to grab some dinner and relax. We felt like Italian and had been here in the past. It had been awhile but it was as good as we remembered it to be. The food was great, (Carbonara was excellent!), service was spot on, and the atmosphere is nice. You can easily have a conversation as the ambient noise is pretty mild. Price was fair for what we received. We will be back at some point in the future. Note: It's hard to get good Carbonara. They did a great job!

Charming staff, packed with families and obviously very popular but….this is the worst of American food. Portions so vast that each serving could feed a family and everyone goes home clutching doggy bags - this is not a good thing my American friends. It’s grossly wasteful of precious resources and it makes you fat and sick in the end if you think that this is normal eating. Food is bland, salads overdressed and limp. If this is your thing, you’ll enjoy it. If you come from Europe you’ll leave shaking your head at the madness. From Italy?, Don’t even think about it.

Went here for our Anniversary dinner and had a very pleasant visit. We were sat in a nice booth overlooking the whole restaurant. The manager stopped by to wish us a happy anniversary and then we shared a nice meal together. The bruschetta bar tour was very good!

This restaurant was a block from our hotel. A good menu with lot's of choice. There were four of us and we tried the family style, which is a choice of appetizers and main course (four choices), salad, and dessert tray. It was too much food for four people, but was all wonderful. The staff were excellent.

Two out of three meals were terrible. Kids chicken tender meal was a flattened piece of chicken that was so dry it was inedible and the chicken piccata was served with two chicken discs on a plate with a bowl of buttered pasta in a separate bowl. Who serves piccata like that? Worst of all my daughter was sick all night after eating the piccata. I will never visit Chicago location again.

Children friendly restaurant. The appetizers were great specially the he fried Zucchini was wonderful. The pasta and the pizza dishes were above average. You can take a free pasta home if buy one from the list.

Here for a group dinner and learned the banquet room was located down the street...not the best way to start an evening. Dinner was served family style beginning with salads. The salads were great as well as the bruschetta. I should have stopped there. Items that appeared afterwards were not as good.....the artichoke dip, the chicken Marsala and even the salmon. Fortunately the chocolate cake and tiramisu concluded my evening on the upside. I had not been to Maggianmo's for a while and expected better taste. Service was ok, not outstanding. Restrooms were up a flight of stairs to the second floor. Fun.

We entered the restaurant and asked desserts to go. The host, very unfriendly said we needed to call and place the order on the phone!!! Whaaat??? Sooo I am right there in front of you and you ask me to call the restaurant ? Anyways, we did call and nobody picked up the phone! Only after noticing I was getting mad he decided to write down my complicated order. Then he overcharged us !!!! But I caught it and he made a surprise face “ ohhhhh I’m sorry I hit the button three times” Not enough, instead of just bringing the order, he made us walk outside and go to the delivery area next door to pick it up…. After 20 minutes waiting, guess what!??? The girl gave us a bag with ONE dessert only!!! Yes, so he charged us 3 desserts but only placed one on the system. INTERESTING VERY INTERESTING “How to ruin a known business: choose badly who you have at the front to receive your customer” what a shame!!!!

We had a large group of 12+ and the restaurant was able to accommodate us without a fuss. Service was good. Lots of choices for many different tastes.

Wonderful food and the best service! I have lactose intolerance so the chef came to the table and suggested safe dishes for me, which I really appreciated.

A fantastic experience eating here with my family of 4. The portions are huge and their service was unbelievable . They bent over backwards to make sure we had a great meal . Can’t wait to visit again

I was delighted with the very delicious food! Our waitress was very nice and the other staff were helpful. I’d definitely eat here again, and again!

Booked a Saturday family luncheon celebration (family style) and it was fantastic. The valet parking for $16 for up to 4 hours was an excellent way to relieve worries about parking. We enjoyed a relatively quiet lunch and the staff was great. My only issue would be is that we had to ask the waiter to slow the progression of the meal, but he did immediately and to our satisfaction. The food was great..every dish we enjoyed. Highly recommend for a great celebration event.

Brunch for 9 for a surprise birthday celebration. Pierre was our waiter and did a tremendous job We were asking a lot, but each time he shown through with excellent service. Good food too and a lot of it. I had the Italian American Breakfast and it was terrific. Easy substitutions,

Met a couple of friends here for lunch. Ordered the zucchini frites. It was light and crispy. Chased it down with a beer. Also ordered lasagna also good. Enough to take home it was a huge order. Will return!

Best meal we've had in Chicago, beef medallions was phenomenal and Tiyia should be your server! Raul was great too! We celebrated our anniversary there, prices were reasonable and service was super.

Ate here last week, lovely tasty Italian food with very attentive staff but be warned unless you have a huge appetite order to share. We didn’t and couldn’t finish our mains. We order a tiramisu to share for desert and had to, leave some of that! It was huge but really tasty.

My son and I ate at Maggiano's in July 2019 during a family visit to Chicago. My son had a really good Filet Mignon and I had the cheese ravioli. We enjoyed a few drinks as well. Overall, I thought the service was excellent. The staff were attentive, but not too intrusive, something I can't stand. Food was very good as well. One thing I did think was odd: I ordered the pasta and I was given the choice of another pasta dish that I would take home. So for my takeout I chose Spaghetti with Meatballs. My son and I shared it the next day and it too was quite good.

We stumbled across this place as we were just walking down the street. We had just arrived in Chicago and didn't know where anything was. When we walked in they asked what brought us to Chicago and we told them we were celebrating our honeymoon. They told us it would be just a minute for a table. Was a little curious because there were so many open tables, but it all became clear when they seated us. They seated us in a quiet booth and had put heart shaped confetti on the table for us. Additionally they brought us a champagne toast and dessert. Now on to the food...DELICIOUS! Highly recommend and will be back next time I am in Chicago!

We attended an Out of Towners Rehearsal Dinner with 10 others. We enjoyed the Calamari, Fried Ravioli, Various salads and pasta dishes.

Really tasty food in a very old, traditional Italian family restaurant. It's very popular and rightly so, has a great atmosphere. Come hungry - the portions are huge!

I want to be fair and say that the people I was with enjoyed their food which is reflected in my score. My food was terrible and so I would have rated lower in isolation. I ordered a bruschetta starter. It was one tiny piece of French bread. Again, to be fair, the waiter had asked if I wanted 'one' but I thought he meant one portion rather than one little piece so possibly my fault or misunderstanding. The other starters were enormous. The main course came way before my friends had finished their starters. The waiter offered to send them back to the kitchen but nobody wants warmed up food and so we went with it. Everybody else enjoyed their mains but unfortunately mine was inedible. It was supposed to be pasta with vegetables. There was no sauce at all. Just penne swimming in water with a few carrots and zucchini thrown in. Probably the worst meal I have ever been served. To say it was tasteless is being kind. To be fair once more, the waiter offered to replace it and when I declined he took it off the bill. Maybe they are comfortable serving traditional cheesy/creamy type Italian meals but less comfortable creating tasty meals without meat or dairy. That said, we had checked in with them in advance. Maybe I was just unlucky on the day. I wouldn't go back though my friends probably would - without me!

Been here twice, food is excellent, as is the service. The ciabbata bread (from their own bakery) is spectacular! I had an aged steak here that was to die for, as was the pasta served with it

“Lighter” Options are available and listed in the menu. Basically certain entrees can be ordered so it’s not so many calories. That’s what I ordered and it was good. Our sever told us that this location is the original/first Maggiano’s. It’s a large restaurant with event/meeting space; multiple entrances too.

I recently ate here for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. That was the best thing I can say about this restaurant. I ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms and the chicken alfredo pasta for my entrée. After a very short wait, our entrees arrived to the table. However, no appetizer came. When I asked about it, he said he would bring it right out. A few minutes later, it arrived. The mushrooms had only breadcrumbs, no cheese. They were the worst stuffed mushrooms I've ever had. Then onto the pasta. The chicken in the dish tasted like they threw yesterday's leftover chicken into the sauce. It was terrible. And the alfredo sauce was a little bit better than store-bought. The waiter did apologize for the appetizer and did not charge me for it. But the sub-par food left a lot to be desired. I will definitely not return to this restaurant.

We had an event here with expected 50 guests. I knew it would be at a party room somewhere, but didn't realize the party room has another entry that's about 100 feet away from the main restaurant. When we went in, the place looks old and basic. They were still setting up the 5 tables when we got there. Overall, I thought the service was good, but the food was just OK. Perhaps it was set up for large tables, but the food was just barely warm when the staff brought them out. It was served as family style, so it was all on big plates in the middle of the table. To be honest, i really don't know what I had, other than it was some sort of Italian food. Nothing stands out, other than the calamari I recall was very small in size.

Food: our starter were the Wagyu Beef Meatballs: Beef Blend & Whipped Ricotta. Amazing! $17.50 for three meatballs. My wife ordered the Lasagna, but it was too salty, so we informed them and they promptly changed our order. She then had the Chicken Piccata: Capers, Spinach, Lemon Butter, Spaghetti Aglio Olio. This one was very good. $28.50. Daughter: Chicken Francese: Parmesan, Lemon Butter, Crispy Vesuvio Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus. The best dish on the table. $28.50. Son: Our Famous Rigatoni "D": Grilled Chicken, Roasted Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion, Marsala Cream. Very good! $29.00. Me: Wagyu Beef Stuffed Shells: Wagyu Beef Blend, Whipped Ricotta, Spicy Tomato Sauce. Excellent! $31.50. Service: Excellent. They went above and beyond. Especially after we told them that the Lasagna my wife ordered was too salty. Atmosphere: We loved the atmosphere. Warm, classy. Cost: $200 with tip. Overall: We enjoyed having dinner here. We were a little surprised that the restaurant was not crowded given the fact that the food was very good, service was excellent and it has a great atmosphere.

I have visited Maggiano's literally from coast to coast and they never have disappointed. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and they were extremely busy with a long wait. Since I was alone I offered to sit at the bar and was seated immediately. I wish I had caught the bartenders name as he was simply outstanding with his service and demeanor. The warm bread out first is always so good it is hard not the get too full before the food comes out. Meal was great, service was great and the atmosphere is consistent across all their properties. Look forward to my next visit where it is.

The fried zucchini appetizer is to die for; it could practically be a meal itself! The 2 for $43.95 is really a great deal: an appetizer/salad, two pasta or chicken entrees, dessert, and two take-home pastas (chicken and specialty pastas add $5/person). The service was perfectly acceptable, but not excellent. Our waitress seemed to be new, because she forgot several of our requests and had to be reminded. However, this is not typical of Maggiano’s, where the service we’ve had is usually better. Be careful not to fill up on their delicious bread and zucchini before the entrees come! For dessert, I recommend the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake; it’s the fluffiest cheesecake I’ve ever had!

Food was excellent. All of the staff was excellent. Haven't had this kind of service in years. Best heirloom tomato salad that we've ever had.

I loved the decor and the meal was very good, the music in the background was great but the first waitress and primarily the gentleman that took me to my table and took my payment was cold and indifferent although he wasn't rude but just absolutely not customer friendly at all! The first waitress I guest had to leave but the second one was polite and pleasant.

This place was okay. The waitress was nice and attentive but not super friendly. They didn't have deep dish pizza either but desserts were to die for!

Clean, good service, consistently good food. A fellow was playing live music near the entrance, which was nice.

We had a party of 11 and thought this would be a good option. They try and get you to order family style which is $38. per person and you have to order off a limited menu. I would suggest sharing dishes because they are truly massive. Do not get the chopped salad with shrimp. That's on me for not ordering an Italian dish! The shrimpers were just bland and sad the the chopped salad had a sweet dressing. Just get the regular side salad. It was big and looked great. Service was okay but the poor guy was very busy and honestly it was just okay.

We were a large group with prearranged menu and seating. We were short one table so they made people squeeze into already arranged tables which was not comfortable. This also made sharing family style dishes difficult as we always needed more so all could be served. The stuff mushrooms, fried zucchini, lasagna, salad, bread ,butter cake with strawberries and Tiramisu were all delicious.I personally did not care for the bland Tilapia fish. The staff was good about bringing coffee and drinks around. Loved all of the Famous Chicagoans and celebrity photos hangin up on the wall.

Recently dined here with my family and it is always a nice experience with great service. Our server, Gabriel, like most servers here do a fantastic job. Food is good but not great. Hands down this place is the best value especially with their great promotions they frequently offer.

Met a group of friend here for dinner one night and since we got there earlier than the reservation, we decided on a drink at the bar. There seemed to be only one bartender, and he was in his world, we were just around it. That's fine, I'm not there for the drinks. We ordered and received our drinks, and waited to be called to be seated. Once seated, the server was nice and knew the menu. I had the veal parmigiana and it was huge! Everyone's portions were very large, which is a good thing, we were hungry. We ate what we could and enjoyed our company. The atmosphere was large crowded and loud but not overwhelming in any sense. I did not pick this location to eat, and knowing what I know now and the other options Chicago has, I would most likely choose somewhere else to eat.

Visiting Chicago with my sister and two grandkids and came here for dinner on a rainy Sunday evening. I didn’t know this was the original/1st Maggiano’s, and it had a wonderful ambience, more so than the suburban restaurants. The food , waitress and service was outstanding ! One of the kids had salmon and loved it, I had the chicken francese, and it has now become my favorite. One of the other meals included pasta to go, but since we were traveling, we declined and the waitress brought their wonderful lemon cookies, 2 dishes served with candles. A wonderful dining experience.

Booked this restaurant following good reviews but wasn't over impressed. Good menu selection and fairly priced for Chicago, which isn't a cheap city to socialise.... Good sized portions and attentive service but 2 meals out of 4 in our group were cold and had to be sent back to kitchen

First time in Chicago late dinner but was so good and the servings were not skimpy. Highly recommend this place.

Four of us had dinner here tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am not big on chain restaurants, but this one is good. Service was excellent, menu choices wide and food excellent. Portions were large enough to be of good value. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant.

The place was better with the former owners. However the food is still tasty and well priced. Very accommodating to gluten free and vegan.

My wife and I along with our son and daughter in law enjoyed dinner Sunday night. This was our sixth visit. Service was excellent. All four said that the taste of the food was outstanding. The lemon cookies are exceptional. We purchased three Christmas tins of cookies to take home.

It was ok. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either. I had the “famous” Rigatoni D. Again, it was ok.

The service and foods we had with a party of 7 was amazing. The dish I had was Salmon Oscar, my husband had Denver steak.

We picked this restaurant as the reviews were so good and these were totally justified as the dishes we had were. excellent. The atmosphere and the service was lovely and the service added to what was a lovely meal. We felt it was good value and we would certainly recommend this to others.

We were told this is the original Chicago Maggiano's Little Italy. It's in a great location, being not far off of the Red Line makes it easily accessible. It was a Saturday night, without reservations, so we had a long wait, and the service was slow at the start, but I'll give them credit, they noticed and turned it around. The food is great and the portion sizes are enormous, so plan on sharing meals and probably still taking some home. This also makes it a little more affordable, because it can get pricey. I also recommend buying a bottle of wine, you'll want it and it's more economical that way.

Carb loading for the marathon and had the lovely Tracey as our server who made the experience exceptional. Delicious bread, pastas and complimentary baked goods. Thankyou so much Tracey, you made our day!

Great food and always great prices. A real value for your family upscale yet relaxed. Servings are really generous. Even though it is a chain it never feels like it.

Maggiano's in Chicago is an iconic Italian restaurant that is exceptionally good value. If you order one of their 8 most popular pastas, you get a 2nd pasta to go for free. That is amazing. I recognize that is great for local residents and less so for visitors. The food is very good. The prices are amazingly moderate. The décor is ordinary but pleasant. The wait staff is charming. The location is excellent. It is part of the Lettuce Entertain you group. However you should know that most Maggiano's outside Chicagoland have been sold. We highly recommend Maggiano's in Chicago

Did you know that Maggiano's has a brunch menu? Neither did I. They do! Recently I was in the area on a Saturday morning and we were looking to grab a bite, late morning but we didn't have time wait. The more popular brunch places in the area already had pretty long wait lists. We were pretty much the only one in Maggiano's so it fit our time constraints perfectly. We chose to sit in the bar area which was cozy on a January morning. We had some mimosas and bloody Marys which were really reasonably priced, $7 and $5 respectively. Totally fun on a Saturday morning. The brunch menu has many attractive options but don't come here and expect to count your calories. Pretty much every option is almost a full days worth points. I ended up splitting the vegetable frittata with my daughter. It was a good sized portion and certainly enough forT the two of us. The frittata was made with Shiitake Mushrooms, Spinach, Roma Tomatoes and Smoked Mozzarella had had a side of Crispy Vesuvio Potatoes. The frittata was cooked perfectly and wasn't too greasy. The potatoes were delicious with lots of yummy spices. It did take a bit longer than we would have liked to get the check but really wasn't bad. Mostly I think we were just in a bit of a time crunch and needed to get going. Remove

In my ten years of going to Maggiano's on Clark Street in Chicago, the food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and the ambience is perfect. For one thing, you can have a conversation with your friends & family at the table without yelling. The music is usually Sinatra... I've been to Maggiano's in LA and Denver, too, but prefer this one in Chicago, hands down!

We stopped in to get some appetizers and a drink and ended up staying awhile. Kenny was outstanding as our server and had many recommendations for us. We ultimately left full after 3 apps and a salad (wine, beer, martinis also). Next time, dinner.

It's a Maggiano's - ate there because we thought we knew that everyone in the group would be happy. Restaurant half full at 7pm on a Friday night - service was still terrible. Doesn't help when server keeps stopping by the table to apologize/explain the delays - less time saying "I bet you think I forgot you" or "I just forgot to pick up your drinks" and more time actually serving would make the process go better. 5 pasta dishes came out, kids meals were wrong, had to be sent back - didn't matter, all with warm food had to wait until the one person who ordered a salad was brought their meal!!!!!

We stopped here for just a drink, but the bartender convinced us to try their flatbread. It was happy hour so the flatbread cost only $4.00. Wow, glad we did because their margherita pizza is excellent!

First visit to the Maggiano’s River North location and we were very satisfied. Location is in a great historic building with great ambiance. Service and food were both excellent. A good option for all- couples, business, families and large parties. Will be high on our list when staying in the area.

Coming for ten years plus. Worst service we have ever had! New Bartender, when we arrived, says “oh I’m going on break. 30 minutes. I’m gone 30 minutes.” Asks random staff to take our order. We sit there for at least 15 minutes before anyone helps us. Come appetizer time suddenly her 30 minute break is over. Appetizers were fine. Our drinks sat empty for another 45 minutes. $22.50 glass of wine but hey. She’s not busy so why should she ask if we want more? Takes our dinner order. I enjoy replacing carb heavy pasta with broccoli, add some marinara or pomodoro sauce and a protein and it’s quite good. The pomodoro sauce over the broccoli was clearly a can of diced tomatoes. It looked like tomato soup. The broccoli was barely steamed. It was absolutely disgusting. So gross. Kitchen clearly slapped broccoli in a bowl zapped it in microwave for a minute and poured a can of diced tomatoes on top attempting to call this a restaurant worthy dish. Bartender did not even ATTEMPT to get it right from the kitchen. Nor did the manager. Manager never said a word to us. Just took it off the bill as was right. But I sat there with no food. We are working hard to find another excellent Italian restaurant. It won’t be Maggiano’s.

We went as part of large group. We each ordered off the menu. I had chicken piccata. The serving had two big pieces of chicken and a small bowl of pasta. The dish had a good hint of lemon without being too much. The wait staff made our group dinner a very nice evening. I would consider returning.

Italian cuisine is probably the safest bet when it comes to choosing a restaurant. This “safe choice” may come across as boring at times so if you are going down this road anyway you might as well do it with Maggiano’s. Plentiful dishes, great taste. The lasagna was remarkable.

We visited the restaurant at about 3-30 and were informed the main restaurant was closed until 4 but we could sit in the bar area and have the same menu. The bar had a lot of space so we were seated immediately. We were looked after very well by our waitress Ali, the food is extremely tasty and came in huge portions so make sure you are hungry when you go. Would recommend this restaurant as it is a typical Italian restaurant with good food and service.

Maggiano's is a WONDERFUL Italian restaurant. Delicious al dente pasta, great service, classic Italian ambience, we loved it. Very highly recommended!

We ate there with a large group and had a wonderful meal that included salmon, lasagna, salad, pasta, chicken and two delicious desserts. The service was great and they have a really nice banquet room. I would not hesitate to go back when I am in Chicago.

Not bad, not particularly good. If you happen to be around, than it might an option... but I wouldn't leave my house specially to go to Maggiano's.

This is a must every time we visit Chicago!! Delicious food, great speedy service, decent prices, and always a warm welcome. The servers really take the time to explain a dish if needed. Very kid friendly, but intimate at the same time. They cater the allergy needs. If you’re going on a weekend, make reservations. P/S......Tiramisu to die for!

Me and my husband selected Maggiano's out of all the other Chicago restaurants to celebrate my birthday!! Well, the first experience was waiting over 15 minutes for a glass of wine at the bar. When we finally got the wine and one other drink the bartender said "sorry, we are understaffed"!!. We questioned whether we should stay for dinner so we spoke to the manager and he assured us that the lack of service would not follow us to the dinner table. We was right!! Our food was delicious and our waitress Andrea was AWESOME!! She was attentive and very helpful and friendly. She also went the extra mile for my cheesecake to go order. She included cookies, birthday candles and a lighter!!! Thanks Andrea for making my birthday evening a true delight!

We went to Maggiano’s initially for happy hour because the drink prices are very reasonable and the restaurant was fairly close to our hotel. We had booked to have dinner at the different restaurant but during happy hour the skies opened and the rain was really coming down so we decided to cancel our other reservation and stay at Maggiano’s. BTW, our bartender at happy hour was a great guy (good singer and a great drink mixer). Dinner was very good. Great bread! My wife had gnocchi and I had the pappardelle. Portions were good. I actually got to bring home a second serving for free! The restaurant has a certain NYC kind of vibe. We really had a great time and will return in the future.

In late-August of this year, I caught up with a longtime friend here over dinner. I usually go Pros and Cons with my reviews, but this review contains nothing but Pros. 1 ) The vibe and ambiance was relaxing and calm. Some of that, of course, might have been a function of the night when we were there (Tuesday). 2) The server was outstanding. She struck a good balance of checking on us and refilling our drinks without stopping by so frequently and being a nuisance. 3) The appetizers, entree and dessert were all fresh and savory. Overall: I travel to Chicago for work a couple of times a year. If and when I'm there again, I'll make sure that I stop here for dinner on at least one of those nights.

Party of 6 today at noon. As soon as we sat down our server informed us that there was no calamari and no garlic bread. Then after looking at the menu we asked for the lunch menu (we saw this online) and he said today there is no lunch menu today. He said they are basically the same except for sandwiches. Well, someone wanted to order a chicken parmesan sandwich, but instead ordered the dinner. Extremely strong cheese on top and chicken was dry. We usually go to Oakbrook but decided to go to the city instead. A big mistake and we will not go back.
Typical Maggiano's
The food is overpriced, like all of the chain. Our dinners were not hot when served to us. I should have known better...
