Amazing Italian Dinner!!!!!!

By Lux_Traveler |

This place is amazing, we set in the bar area as it was very crowded and a super long wait for tables, Frank Sinatra playing in the background set to a dim lighted restaurant is perfect for an Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable and food was amazing, when you order from the classics you get a meal to eat and one to bring home. The bread was perfect with vinegar and oil prior to our meal. The strawberry cheesecake after the meal was right in line with Cheesecake Factory if not a little better. We will be back here when we are in the mood for Italian.

Great service horrible food

By Yendo R |

Don't know what the good reviews are about the food was horrible Olive Garden is better and I don't like that place. I lived in Italy for 5 years and my wife is from there so if you want Italian food stay away.

Happy anniversary

By Paulette T |

My husband and I LOVE to come here for our anniversary. The food is so fabulous. Being full blooded Italian, I am picky about Italian cuisine. THIS restaurant is the best!

Súper Italian restaurant

By Gustavo D |

This is a great restaurant with good Italian flavor. My favorite is Linguine di Mare includes; Lobster, Shrimp, Mussels, Clams, Spicy Tomato Lobster Sauce

Always good

There was a little glitch with calling us to our table but once we were seated everything was fantastic. We will visit again.

Really Good Food

By Barbara W |

I am not a fan of "family dining", being spoiled and prefer being served. That said, I ate at Maggiano's for the second time last night and cannot fault their food or service. I was with a very large party and the food was served in a timely fashion and the servers were very attentive.

DELICIOUS!

By William M |

We arrived midweek just an hour before they were to close. There were probably 10 people in the restaurant but at no time did the staff appear to rush us. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was outstanding. We had Shrimp Scampi and Mac 'N Cheese a la Maggiano's (with lobster). DELICIOUS!

My dish was amazing!

By Cowan27 |

This is not a good picture, but it gives you an idea of my lunch. I couldn't have been more pleased with the food & service. I had the bruschetta variety appetizer. Each table is also served fresh bread with oil & seasoning.

Lots of great food

By wineanddine32 |

We had eaten at Maggiano's in Scottsdale and it was terrific so we ate at Maggiano's in San Antonio . Another great meal. The building is huge and can handle large groups. As a couple, we had a nice table and great waiter. The wine prices are not as high as some dining places for good wine. What is surprising, Maggiano's doesn't cost much more than Olive Gardena nd is so much better. I just had baked ziti and my wife had a chicken dish on a combo special.

Such good food and service

By Dines_out_regularly |

We enjoyed chicken parm and lobster carbonara. We also had a chocolate cake dessert as well as creme brulee. The desserts and the chicken portions were large enough to take some with us for later. Our server was delightful and attentive.

One of the best Maggiano’s locations anywhere

By aggieman92 |

Having dined at several Maggiano’s around the country I knew I’d have good service and good food. This San Antonio location was one of the best. I ate at the bar and was served by Valerie. She was busy but made me feel like I was her only customer. Great service with a smile, timely, and helpful with suggestions. Would definitely recommend this location for great food and outstanding service!

Disappointed

By Jo E |

So, we had heard so much good in the past about this restaurant so were excited when we received a gift card for Maggiano's. The service and atmosphere was great but that is where our great experience stopped. Every dish we had was like eating mouthfuls of salt. Both of us had to wash each bite down with water, so we did not eat much at all and went home disappointed. It was nice to get back home to New Zealand and have a nice meal at our own local Italian restaurant.

Fantastic Choice for Birthday Celebration

By YO_LOOK_AT_ME |

Had a great experience at this restaurant. We were celebrating two of our friends birthdays and Jacob did an outstanding job. Not only was the service quick and efficient but he accommodated us having a birthday cake delivered at the perfect moment. Unlike other restaurants who charge a "plate fee", they allowed us to bring our cake in and provided us the proper utensils to partake. As a bonus, many of our meals were buy one, take one home, so it was an added bonus to all. I would definitely recommend visiting and if you have Jacob serving you, tell him we said hi and job well done!

Early Dinner Only OK

By TahoegpSA |

Made reservations for an early dinner; although, not needed. We started with the Mussels; which were tasty in spite of the numerous broken and empty shells. Linguine de Mar was a little overcooked and lacked quantity in the seafood portion. We ordered dessert and coffee; which for some reason took almost 20 minutes to arrive. Overall, not up to the normal quality we had become accustomed to at this restaurant on previous visits.

Great place, great food and great service by Paris

By Rene Hirsch |

We went to maggiano's little Italy to celebrate my mothers birthday and I can not be more happy! the service by Pairs was amazing, very friendly, always checking if we need anything. The food was delicious, the stuffed mushrooms are fantastic, the bread, and the mushroom ravioles are just delicious, the Oscar salmon hmmm super good! and not only that, the eat one and take one to go free is just an amazing deal. highly recommended

This place is great! Was empty @ 14:30 but good service @ bar - I ordered the Family Meal for Two To-Go - $40.00 - consisting - Maggiano's Salad: Crispy Prosciutto, Red Onions, Blue Cheese, House Dressing on side - a Pasta: Mom's Lasagna Marinara, Crumbled Meatballs & Sausage, Ricotta & Marinara Sauce - Entrée: Chicken Parmesan: Provolone & Marinara Sauce with Spaghetti Marinara & Freshly baked Ciabatta Rolls & Six Vera's Lemon Cookies will accompany the meal They also gave me 10% military discount. For the wait waiter offered complimary ice tea

Disappointing

By Karen N |

Food was good but the service was lousy!! Could not get service at the bar while we waited, took 30 minutes to get salad and requests were never taken care of. I won’t be back

Delicious

By Angelika40 |

It's our second time here in 2 weeks and we just love it. The food is great. What ever you try you will like it, the Caesar Salad, the Spinach Salad, the Calamari, Chicken Saltimbocca, Mom's Lasagna, the Cheesecake, Creme Brulee and I can go on. Everything is awesome. And an excellent service by Blake. Please don't forget to ask for Blake. You will have a great dinner, I promise you that.

Quiet, romantic dining

By 3Constance2016 |

Excellent service, quiet romantic ambience, and wonderful Italian food. I had the shrimp carbonara, tasty shrimp with authentic carbonara sauce. They’re always happy to provide substitutions or additions. The Italian bread is fresh with oil and balsamic vinegar so welcoming.

The full and satisfied

By Chase Carver |

We waited approximately 10 minutes for a table for 10 people. The staff was helpful and the food one point compared to previous visits while in town. Glad they have their big deal meals felt like we got a little bit more from our money. Was able to feed 4 adults and 6 kids for 120 bucks with tip. The five dollar cheesecake really finished the meal off well.

Good Italian Food, Great Service

By Tuco R |

Had a reservation for 4pm, beat the rush. Had a pretty good house red to go with stuffed mushrooms and calamari. Very good. We had egg plant parmigian, chicken piccata and baked ziti. All was very good, chicken was the best only because the eggplant was crispy like it was deep fried. Waiter was a young guy, communicated well seemed to like his job. It was busy when we were finishing up but the staff was keeping up pretty well. One of the table setters, a heavy lady was actually sitting at a table cooling her heals during this, funny. For the money, I’d definitely go back!

Family style meal

By YupWeAteThere |

We enjoyed a wonderful family style meal here at Maggiano's. Everything was wonder from the service to the food. We ate until we were stuffed and still have food left over. Definitely making this an stop on our next visit to San Antonio.

Anniversary Go-To Restaurant!

By Traveling2018777 |

For the past several years we have gone to Maggiano's for our anniversary dinner. I know there may be fancier places to celebrate in SA, but we just love Maggiano's!! The service is incredible and the food is always absolutely delicious! Our anniversary is on New Year's Eve so to experience excellent service on such a busy night is definitely a huge plus! I made our reservations on-line and glad we did because it was literally standing room only when we arrived. In spite of the crowd (there is always a crowd on New Year's Eve!) we were seated at exactly the time we reserved. Our waiter was very prompt, attentive and not at all hurried even though the restaurant was packed. If you get a chance to go, be sure to try the fettucine alfredo. They have the very best alfredo sauce in town! And for dessert, you have to get the apple crostada with vanilla ice cream. This dessert is amazing!! Sweet, tart and absolutely delicious! One dessert is plenty for two to share - - if you want to share, which you may not! I highly recommend Maggiano's for your next night out!

Father and Son Dining - Excellent Food/Excellent Service!

By SATXFamily |

My wife and I held our modest wedding reception at Maggiano's Little Italy, downtown Chicago, 17 years ago. A wonderful family-style dining experience then; and to this day, the San Antonio location very honorably represents Chicago tradition. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday for dinner, still plenty of seating, but within an hour Maggiano's filled up. The complimentary valet becomes more practical. Although the restaurant filled, there still appeared to be bar-style dining for overflow. Service is extremely patient and knowledgeable, identifying whether you have previous experience, and navigating your dining occasion accordingly. Families, couples, friends are all treated as royalty. As I read others reviews there were a couple concerns over cheese or cream. The staff knows the menu and is very proficient for guiding to an excellent meal. My son and I ordered from the menu (family style requires four, although there are value couples dining options too). My son ordered the Johnny’s Carbonara, a bit creamy for me; thus, I ordered the Crusted Talapia with tomato, capers, served over spinach. Our meals were perfect, individually for each of us. Our server (Blake) excellently attentive. Two entrees, a lemonade, a dessert, and a cappuccino - $58 (before gratuity). Father and son experience - priceless. We’ll be back with the entire family, for family-style dining soon!

Great food! Great price! Great waiter

By Bruski21 |

My wife and I have only had great food here. We love every dish they have ever served to us. This time I had the mushroom ravioli, which was outstanding. The fresh bread is warm and dellicious. Spencer was our waiter and we could not have been taken care of any better. Love the prices here too. We took home enough food for a second meal and the total including a generous tip was still under $50.

The wait staff were very attentive and the food was served family style. It was wonderful italian food. The desserts were huge and amazing.

Average Family Style But Good Value Restaurant

By barry b |

The place is always busy and so be sure to make a reservation. The restaurant is large and focuses on the quantity of food versus quality. However, the quality is not bad given the number of patrons served on any individual evening. Service can be "spotty", meaning that we had two waiters assigned to out table of 6 guests, but often we could not find them to order drinks, additional food items etc. Again this slow service would appear to be reflection of how busy the place is. Still a good place to visit for "solid", decent quality Italian "favorites".

Nice dinner and great service

By Travelingcoloratura |

Enjoyed a nice dinner here yesterday. I had the Langostino Lobster di Maquis. It was a delicious dish that did not sit heavy on the stomach nor overdo the cream sauce. Our waiter Blake was friendly and provided excellent service. One thing that stood out about him was the effort he clearly put into pronouncing the names of dishes properly and learning the ingredients in each dish. One newer menu feature we really enjoyed was the bruschetta bar. It has some great flavor combinations for one to try. My favorite was the pear, arugula and prosciutto with the blue cheese swapped for mozzarella as I can't eat blue cheese. As in my other Italian reviews, I feel obligated to stress this is excellent Italian American cuisine versus cuisine one would necessarily find in Italy. The restaurant can become extremely busy due to its location, service, and quality. Plan accordingly and consider reservations via open table on weekends or holidays.

Enjoyable Italian Food

By BobKathy |

We had dinner here. Connor was our waiter and did a great job. We enjoyed their shrimp diavolo, chowder soup and vanilla ice cream.

Great place for groups and families

By Benito G |

Great Italian restaurant with homemade flavors. Ask for pasta and you will be surprised with the size of their servings plus a take away order. ENJOY!!!

Excellet Pasta

By JERRY B |

Italian dining in my home town is primarily non existent. We went here on a recommendation of others and were not disappointed. They have a pasta meal for 2 where we could each select our own entrée which came with a salad and a desert to share. To our surprise we were able to each select another pasta entrée to go which fed us for another night as well as lunch. The atmosphere was wonderful and service great. Highly recommend this place.

Cannot recommend.

By Don H |

Compared to previous experiences, Maggiano’s has gone downhill. The salad was served without any dressing. The chicken piccata was overly salty. The wine glass was dirty. Not impressed and probably will not go back soon.

The best spaghetti and meatballs in San Antonio

By Taylor B |

I punched "the best spaghetti and meatballs in San Antonio" on my computer and up popped a familiar name, Maggiano's Little Italy. Familiar? It's an upscale chain of restaurants specializing in Italian-American cuisine that was founded in Chicago in 1991 by Rich Melman's famous Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises. LEY's first restaurant still is thriving at the corner of Clark and Grand. Its second restaurant opened in west suburban Oak Brook, then north suburban Skokie. In 1994, LEY opened its first restaurant outside Illinois. Today, there are 54 locations in 22 states and Washington DC. My wife and I have visited several of them, including Denver, Washington DC, Nashville, Las Vegas and Indianapolis. Now San Antonio. Located at 17603 I-10, in The Rim shopping center, it is open from 11 to 10 Monday through Thursday, 11 to 11 Friday and Saturday and 11 to 9 on Sunday. We started with garlic bread with white truffle ricotta butter and Italian cheese, a bowl of minestrone, balsamic tomato bruschetta with tomatoes, basil, balsamic glaze, roasted garlic and pesto, and Caesar salad with grated parmesan and garlic croutons. For my entree, I indulged in a heaping plate of spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce. As good as advertised. My wife chose one of her dinner favorites, pork osso bucco, with sauteed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes with veal demi-glace. For dessert, we shared tiramisu with ladyfingers soaked in espresso with mascarpone cheese and a warm apple crostada with vanilla bean ice cream and caramel sauce. Whether you're dining at Maggiano's in Chicago or Denver or Tampa or San Antonio, the food, especially the spaghetti and meatballs, is as good as it gets.

Great 2 for 1 deal!

By sunbun2017 |

Always busy, always a long wait but their eat one dish, take one dish home is a great deal!! A favorite of ours for special occasions. Wish they had a location on the NE side of town!

Great food

By ragga_ragga_cuba |

This restaurant was close to my hotel. Great italian food. Loved the open space. Looked like a big family reunion. Food and service were great. Highly recommend it!

Terribly Average yet again

By SDCSR |

Nothing was wrong with our meals. The bread was excellent and copious. Service was attentive. The spumoni is always quite good. The meal was totally forgettable and boring.

Great food friendly service.

By Love2travel |

A little pricey but serving sizes were big enough to share. Great food. Wait staff very friendly and attentive.

Thanksgiving

By m0thersays |

I chose this place because per the website menu, one could choose 2 of 3 meats, sides and pastas. Turns out you choose 2 for the whole table, then everyone shares those 2 things. The food took an extremely long time to arrive and when it did it was Luke warm. There was about a tablespoon of gravy on the turkey, none on the potatoes. The ham consisted of six greasy little pieces the size of my thumb. The service was terrible despite there being an abundance of servers. At $80 plus drink, it was a severe disappointment

So much food

By Honest review 84 |

Good food and so much of it. Service was good. Prices are pretty reasonable considering how much food you get.

Okay, Not Great, Just Okay

By mikel68 |

Four people in our group almost everyone wants something different, what do you get? Italian food. My daughter and I wanted steak, my son fish, my wife chicken piccata. My suggestions, stick to the "noodle" side of the menu. My wife said she really enjoyed her meal and it was prepared well. My son had a salmon dish, Salmon Oscar I believe. Not a whole piece of salmon. Prepared a chunks mixed with lump crab meat. Most of the plate was spinach. He said it was okay, I tasted it, pretty bland. Now to the steaks...Absolutely do not order a steak here. I ordered the bone in ribeye, my daughter the center cut filet, close to $40.00 each. 16 ounce bone in ribeye was less than a half inch thick and pretty much cooked to well. I'm not sure how you prepare a piece of meat that thin to medium rare. It was swimming in some kind of watery sweet sauce that did not make it better. It was served with steak fries, those were pretty poor as well, requiring a knife to cut them due to the outer shell, yes shell from probably sitting under a heating lamp for hours. My daughter had a center cut filet. This restaurant should take steak off the menu, seriously. After a few bites she flipped it over and it was Burned on the back side. She started to cut the "burn" off, and I said, "hey, what's up, I like that sear, give it to me." She did, it was Burned!! Black and Burned. Overall I've had worse, but not by much just stick to more traditional Italian - Olive Garden type fare and you'll be fine.

Better Than We Hoped...

We heard so many great things about this place from my dad’s coworkers, tried it out and it was great! The food was excellent, the service was great especially are waitress Lisa, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Definitely a place worth visiting again!

You'll always have a PIZZ-A my heart❤!

By Lacey Ann |

How many places can you think of that gives you a loaf of bread to slather in butter AND a slice of cheese pizza for FREE as appetizers?!? This is that spot! Their pizza is on point. Marinara sauce is mouthwatering & addictive. Calamari is the best I've had, and we've been all across the US. Alfredo is on point. I adore the cozy, homey, family owned feel. Prices are reasonable (about the same as Olive Garden prices, but you'll leave much more satisfied). Our waiter wasn't quite 5 stars, but not awful, and the fantastic food & overall atmosphere more than made up for any area he was lacking in. Little Italy is absolutely a spot we come to time and time again. 100% recommend😘

Very popular restaurant in the RIM area of San Antonio

By yekenaudr |

Nice atmosphere with lots of customers on a Tuesday evening. The two of us sat in a large booth for a romantic dinner. We ordered Salmon Caprese and crab cakes and a side of grilled asparagus with no appetizers and no drinks or dessert. The prices were moderately expensive. The calorie counts on the menu also discouraged additional items. Both our entrees were excellent. Our service was good. The only complaint was the bill came back from the cashier about two dollars over the amount on the ticket, which the waiter returned and fixed. Seemed kind of odd, like there could be a scheme going on--or maybe just an honest mistake.

Excellent Italian Food, Great Value on the Pasta Meals

By 2fromTX |

This location is large, with a couple of banquet rooms in the back, so don't be put off if the parking lot is full. The vibe is semi-upscale, but there are plenty of reasonably priced options on the menu. We ate in the bar area because we were just two persons and it was early in the evening, and the bar staff waited on us. They have some happy hour specials on wine and beer, with a discounts on flat bread. The house wine was on special by the glass, but we didn't care for it, so we went with the beer happy hour special, a very inexpensive option. We had planned on having our meal and getting take out for our kids at home, and they have a great option to order a pasta and get another pasta meal at no cost to take home -- what a deal! The pastas are huge bowls and very tasty, and the lasagna was excellent. Check out their webiste before you go, we found a good discount offered. Will definitely go back.

I Have Ate Here Twice This Year! This Scratch Kitchen Is Amazing! If There Is Something You Want Thats Not On The Menu Just Ask! Great Ambiance, And Awesome Service Make This Resturant A Must Visit When In San Antonio! I Highly Recommend This Resturant!

Make reservations

By John K |

Always busy but once seated service is quick. Make reservations or you'll wait an hour or more. A good team working together to get food to the table. Attentive and knowledgeable waiter. Management always nearby to monitor customer experience. Veal Piccata was appropriately thin and nice lemon sauce but a little overdone. Nice flavor. Lobster Carbonara was really nicely prepared but again lobster slightly overdone and thus a little rubbery. Salmon with crab meat was thoroughly enjoyed by 14 year old grandson (good sign). Child's spaghetti with giant meatball was a hit with 8 year old grandson. Fettuccini dishes were good. A dish like a chicken piccata (can't remember name) was tasty. Nice meals to add a free take home dish were available and taken home by our in-laws without follow up yet. Bread good. Calamari appetizer and bruschetta sampler were good. Desert sampler was a good "share" sweet at end of meal. Cake balls with chocolate and Sambuca were more dense than I like, but good flavor. A very enjoyable approximately 2 hour meal. Atmosphere reminded us of a nice restaurant we visited in Rome. Reasonably priced and our second visit with more to come in the future.

Popular, busy and pricey

By Karavans |

Our weekend family lunch began with a more-than-moderate wait, but the bar staff proved to be skilled and entertaining. The dining room was crowded and fairly noisy, and our family group surely added to the mix. Food was good and service was attentive for a busy day. But overall I would say lunch was only fair value. This place deserves another visit, maybe just as a couple and maybe a weekday evening.

A Lot to Offer

By Mariah S |

This is a nice place to celebrate and meet friends. Their spaghetti sauce is a bit too sweet for me, but I highly recommend their chicken piccata and gnocchi. They offer meals which include all 3 courses with several good options within. A number of dishes include a second “to-go” meal to take afterwards. One of my visits here I attended a function in their classy private dining room, and the service there was almost as smooth as it was for me when I came at other times. Most of your friends will love this place.

Awful food and experience

By Katherine H |

We have gone here before with great food and great service. Today, Thursday June 1 we went for a late lunch, 1:30 pm, so the lunch rush was over. We were seated and waited a while for our server to come over and acknowledge us, then when she did, she was apologizing before we even ordered our wine for being late. Ok, fine so then we wait another long period of time for our wine. We ordered shrimp scampi and shrimp fra Diablo. Both dishes were bland and had as a base the same sauce. Scampi is white wine, lemon, garlic, basil, olive oil, etc....not a tomato based sauce as was the shrimp fra Diablo. When mentioning that both of the sauces were the same on each dish and the only difference was the red pepper flakes added to enhance the fra Diablo dish, our server just shrugged her shoulders and said she knew and was sorry... The chefs were all in a meeting. what??? So who cooked our meal?? Further insult, we asked for the house white wine and was charged for top shelf ....$3.00 difference per glass. We asked to speak to the manager about our experience and were told he could not be disturbed, he was in a meeting....hmmm...same one with the chefs no doubt. Hostess took our telephone number so manager could follow up...and 8 hours later, no call... This was an $85 bill for a BAD lunch, bad food, apologetic service and no customer consideration. Not sure we will be back at all...

Unprofessional Management

By Dream54945214506 |

Dinner reservations made 60 days in advance. ALEX was friendly and accommodating. Party of 20 in main dining room. Informed host that it is a graduation dinner for immediate family. A confirmation text/email were received. Called to re-confirm 30 days in advance. SUSAN assured me of our reservation but had to refer me to a manager to "confirm" reservations. Genesis, who failed to introduce herself, unapologetically informed me that we were required to order Family Style Menu or not be allowed to sit together as one party. After a few minutes of back and forth, and moments of silence, I asked what's the best she could do. She replied that she could put tables next to each other, uncertain of location. Genesis demonstrated an unexpected level of unprofessional behavior in her interactions over the phone. She was condescending and her tone came across as dismissive. Her communication style displayed a lack for customer satisfaction, which is unbecoming of Maggiano's Staff.

Excellent

By Mary M |

All I can say is Maggianos has the best manager in the dining his name is Chris who is wonderful. We love it when he is working-just saying…his attention to detail and customer service is exceptional. None better. Take out service- Branandon, maegan and Mickey are very nice. Maggianos offers a beautiful setting, fun happy atmosphere Manager Chris is a perfect host

Tiramisu for two!

By SnargyBoy |

One meal to eat and one to take home! I tried the salmon sandwich with Caesar salad and the wife had pasta with cauliflower and we both enjoyed our meals. Because she ordered a full meal we were able to take home a to go meal for later. To top off the dining experience we shared a tiramisu which was excellent! The service was topnotch and 50s music of Frank Sinatra played in the background. I'd recommend eating here for a special occasion.

Overpriced, but good service

By Samuel K |

Decent food, overpriced, good service. Not disappointed, but didn't leave completely satisfied. Food tasted good, and was cooked well. Good presentation.

Great Italian Food

By Lance H |

This is a really nice restaurant with good food and a good atmosphere. You can tell this is a well run restaurant with good management and service. The food is also good. I got Shrimp Fettucini. The portion size was huge and it tasted delicious. The environment such as the decorations and furniture is really nice although I don't normally notice that. It's a bit pricey but not too bad for a Friday night dinner or after church lunch.

Good food, Slow service

By Corky G |

Seven for a birthday dinner, and all the meals were good. Did not realize some came with a full second takeout meal. Enjoyed the baked ziti, my wife enjoyed salmon.

Midweek Lunch

By truetexangurl |

We had lunch here for the first time during the week and the food was not as good as the food on Sundays. The Chicken Parm was thick and a bit chewy. The sandwiches are mostly bread, but the salads are the best! We will always return, especially now that the last Macaroni Grill in SA is closed!

Dissapointed

By C G |

Just not what it use to be. Food was overcooked. Service was not impressive, especially at the prices they charge. Had been looking forward to a wonderful experience, we don't have a Maggiano's were we live. The resturant was packed, floor was very sticky in bar area. Resturant layout is poor. We would not recommend.

Terrible change in menu

By Freedom16687715197 |

We have always loves this restaurant. However with the menu change the food is horrible. The spaghetti with so called waggu meatball was a joke. My 7 year old grandaughter who loves spaghetti took two bites and disliked it so much she wouldn't touch it any further. They need to go back to the original menu. The change in the menu has dropped the quality and option of food. My family loved this restaurant before menu change and went often. With the new menu we will most likely never return.

Best Italian food

By Fernando P |

Came to Maggiano’s to celebrate our 46th anniversary and boy did we! Our waiter, Alex, made the big difference between a good meal and a great one. After looking at the menu Alex suggested the Linguine de Mare or Seafood Linguine, $26. This dish comes with mussels, shrimp, clams, and lobster in a light tomato sauce served on top of linguine. We shared this dish and I’m glad we did. It’s more than enough for two. We started with a cup of minestrone soup, $4, for my wife and I had the Caesar salad, $5. We had 2 mimosa, $2 each. The soup was piping hot and packed with flavor and more flavorful than the ones at Olive Garden and Zeo’s. The Caesar salad was covered in dressing all the way to the bottom of the bowl. For dessert Alex suggested the month’s special of a 13-layer cake with a cannolis, $11. The cake came with a side of warm chocolate fudge and topped with crushed pistachios. Then to our surprise, Alex brought a side dish of 6 lemon icing cookies with “Happy Anniversary “ written in chocolate!! This surprise was the “icing” to our lunch date.

Always a fun evening with excellent food and service. The service and food is consistent and the atmosphere is lively but you can still count on an intimate dinner if that is what you desire.

Slow Services Changes our Experience

By bobemac |

In another life when we lived in East Boerne and this was our favorite Italian eatery. After playing golf nearby, we decided to check them out. Valerie was our server. We had always had great success and service in the bar area seated in the booths. Valerie was slow and she had several tables show up. It did not appear that management was aware nor capable of helping our server. Spaghetti and meatballs were good and there was a lot to eat. The Lasagna was full of meat and cheese and was tasty. The water never seemed to be filled quickly enough because we were always thirsty. They still have their free pasta deals to take home.

Anniversary Date

By Qness47 |

We decided to make a reservation at Maggiano’s for our anniversary. This was our first time at this restaurant, and I must say that we were definitely not disappointed. We went all out and by that I mean we got an appetizer, entrées, bottle of wine and dessert and the price was relatively cheap. Server: Julie- she was sweet and provided great service. Wine: Lambrusco bottle $28- if you like a sweet sparkling wine this is a must try. Appetizer: stuffed mushrooms $11.50 These were amazing I really loved their stuffed mushrooms. Entrées: Filet Mignon $33 and Prime Ribeye $39 - both were cooked medium and tasted great. Dessert: Apple Crostada $9 and Butter Cake $9 Both were amazing. Definitely Recommend. Also they surprised us with these crescent shaped lemon cookies and on the plate they put happy anniversary. That was a sweet touch. In all we spent about $145 and we had a great time and a lot of left overs.

Excellent Food and Service

By YO_LOOK_AT_ME |

Our server, Will, was very attentive to our needs, checking back often on how we were doing, etc. The appetizer was great and the dinner was fantastic. Its been awhile since my last visit, but everything is as expected. I concur with another individual's comment, the $5 take home deal is not to be missed and the quantity can easily feed two people. I definitely recommend a visit.

Wonderful Pasta

By MaryBrentMarks |

I have eaten many lunches and dinners here -- I enjoyed each one! So much so that I hired Maggianos to cater a dinner for 35 at my home. It was wonderful!

Authentic Italian Food

By J W N |

There was a party of six of us. We enjoyed the bar while we waited for our table. The menu is extensive and inclusive. There is something for everyone's taste. The night we were there, the restaurant was full, but the service staff was attentive to our needs and special requests.

Delicious Italian Food

By Lisa H |

We love coming to Maggiano’s when we are visiting the area. It had been a while since we had eaten here, and once again we were not disappointed. My favorite appetizer is the crispy zucchini. Our go-to entree is the lasagna and it is amazing. The take home version is just as yummy. I would describe their style of Italian food as rich and very flavorful. It is not bland at all. I am a bread lover and their bread is also delicious. We always get very good service and their wait staff is great. Paesano’s is another local favorite for Italian food but I would choose Maggiano’s over Paesano’s ANY DAY.

This was a good place for a nice meal

By welovesports |

This is a large restaurant but the food was very good. Reservations are a good idea but our wait wasn’t too bad. Definitely recommend for a nice meal.

Great food and service!

By ldwhoffman |

Very nice restaurant with great menu options for brunch on weekends, lunch, and dinner. Our server at this location, Casey Sherman, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being over-bearing.

Wedding Reception catered by Maggiano’s

By Napolitan65 |

We contacted Maggiano’s to have them cater a wedding reception at our home. We had 50 people in attendance and we purchased a special pack Maggiano’s offered for about 50 people. From our initial inquiry to set up of the food at our home Maggiano’s team, their food and all the extras they provided were simply outstanding! The salads could have fed twice as many people, the pasta with sausage was excellent, the chicken Parmesan was savory and tender and the array of desserts accommodated everyone’s taste. Hats off to team Maggiano for their exceptional food and service. We’ll definitely use them again.

Love the food, service and ambience here!

By Johnnie D |

From the fresh bread to the dessert, all is good here. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. My husband and I always order something different and have liked it all. This restaurant is business casual with a lay back atmosphere. I like the on the house classic pastas; choose a pasta dish to eat there and choose another to take home for tomorrow at one great price. Come in after a movie at the theater nearby for selection from the Bruschetta Bar and a cocktail. This place is a keeper. Ample parking available. Great service.

Wonderful food - great location

By norajill w |

Late lunch - took a table in the bar area as we were dressed casually. Shrip Fra diavlo was amazing and I love that they offer a "lighter" version. The table bread is so good I need the lighter selection. My husband really likes the lasagna or the spaghetti and meatball (it's huge). Good service and food - at the Rim so plenty to do before or after eating. Eddie - maitre d' is always awesome - very personable and good at remembering return customers.

Birthday Meal

By Bernadetteere |

What you need to know before you eat here is that the meals are huge! So, had we known earlier hubby and I would have shared a meal. As it was we not only had most of my lasagna to take home but the buy one, take one home with you, meal too. Way TOO MUCH food! I actually gave both extra meals to retail workers at La Cantera Mall. They were very greatful. The food and the service at this restaurant were great. I loved everything about this place, except the huge amounts of food served. That said I did order desert. It was my birthday after all. I have never had a desert SO DELICIOUS in all my life. I got the apple cosota?pie? and it came with ice cream. Even though it was a huge serving I ate the lot! Whether you visit this restaurant for an event or just because, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend.

Service Has Gotten Very Slow

By truetexangurl |

Maggiano's has great Italian food and we still love visiting, but the service has gotten very slow. The management is very quick to correct any mistakes or overnights. We still love this location and enjoy visiting every couple of months or so. Very friendly staff.

Great dinner and great service

By khrd |

We enjoyed an excellent dinner. We had a very professional waiter who made sure that our food was exactly as we wanted it. The food was so good! The only thing that could have been better was the communication between the hostess and the maitre d. When we received the text that our table was ready the hostess told us to stand by a doorway. We stood there for nearly 10 minutes. The maitre d then asked our name and stated that no one told him we were there. This was a minor complaint and they were very busy but communication at the front of the house is so important during busy times. The great food and overall service stood out. Maggiano’s is definitely some place we will return to when visiting San Antonio.

Dinner in the Bar area

By Katina C |

The waitstaff ruined this entire dinner experience. First time here and we were saddened by the experience. First off, they were out of the appetizer we ordered. Second, I had pineapple stuck to the bottom of my bread plate. Third, my husband asked for no onions in his meal and we were reassured that they could prepare it without it. However, his meal was prepared with the onions. My meal continued to cool off as I waited for him to eat. Then another server was asked to get our "Take Home" selections, she gave them the wrong order selections . Lastly, the bill was a mess, she gave our bill to the table next to us whom had been waiting for quite some time to leave. When I finally got our bill at least 10 minutes later, my glass of wine was not included, so after she charged my card fir the meal she brought me another bill for the wine only. I paid cash for the wine just to get out of there. This review is specifically for the experience and wait staff which I feel has as much impact as the food while dining.

Our Waitress Was Awesome

By mojomo |

We were in town for UTSA move in weekend and staying at a nearby hotel. We’d taken longer than expected to drive in and were too tired to go downtown. So chose this restaurant since it was not too far to drive. It was very busy on a Friday night. The parking lot was packed. We were told by a somewhat disinterested hostess that there was a 45 minute wait. She took my husband’s name and cell phone, directed us to wait in the bar area. We took a seat and as we were waiting a young lady asked if she could get us anything and my husband inquired if we could order our food and eat in the bar area. It was a good thing he asked because we never got a call! This turned out to be a good thing, because Katia was our waitress. She was very kind and attentive from the start. Genuinely nice and truly made our evening special after starting of a little rocky. We are at a table in the bar area which was fine. After the long drive in, this was better than the wait. Katia helped us choose from the menu. My daughter and I shared an order of “lighter side” chicken Parmesan. We had two Italian side salads, which were actually quite good. Nicely seasoned and fresh. My husband had the filet mignon. My husband mentioned that my daughter and I had recently had birthday, so Katia brought us a complimentary dish with chocolate truffles and candle! Very sweet. Just wanted to say that Katia really made our visit special. It was our first visit to the restaurant and we enjoyed it. A lady a couple of tables down had lost a ring and Katia actually got under the table and looked for it! They found it. She went above and beyond helping the customers! It only takes one person to help make a good first impression. This meant a lot to us. My daughter just celebrated her 18th birthday and bringing her to move in for college is bittersweet.

DINNER AND MYSTERY MURDER GAME

By Cindy G |

We always enjoy eating at Maggianos - delicious food! This night we participated in a Murder Mystery Game the restuarant was sponsoring and enjoyed delicious Italian meal served family style for the table of attendees we sat with. The variety of food was delicious as always and as a plus we were entertained by paricipating in this Murder Mystery Game which allowed our table to try to solve the murder. It was a fun evening with both great food and an entertainment.

Great Christmas Eve dinner. Couldn't believe some patrons showed up without a reservation. Mostly tables with large groups of people(families). The waitstaff was really overloaded, but best I could tell did an outstanding job. We had a "Rigatoni D" pasta and a "Mediterranean Spaghetti" and both were wonderful, lots of flavor and huge portions. Both the Malbec and Riesling wines were great additions to the meal. Evelyn was the waitperson and did an outstanding job on a hectic evening. We recommend this restaurant.

Great place to meet for small or large groups. Great service and food.

By TravelManagerLoveIt |

Attended a dinner for a client's VIP clients and I was very impressed with both the staff and the food at the restaurant. The hospitality was second to none and there's no way we were going home hungry! The meeting facilities were good and the staff were great when there was a small technical glitch as someone on the staff in our room was onto it very quickly. A great night for all.

Great restaurant!

By EmmaDee2014 |

We have eaten here several times and always have great food! Large portions, piping hot, delicious meals, great service, white tablecloths, very clean!

Welcome home

We loved the food suggested by our waiter BLAKE!!!! We will be BACK. Great Mom’s Lasagna and the Spinach Shrimp Salad. We love BLAKE!!!

A nice lunch with a nice Lady

By vettefinderjim |

A neighbor joined me last Wednesday April 10 for a drive to an APPLE repair store to pick up my old iMac desktop. I was in the mood for italian food, so we ventured to Maggiano's. I have heard of its reputation, but this was my first visit. We both had Shrimp Scampi with angel hair pasta. It was cooked perfectly. We also had the Caliarmi appetizer which was also excellent. Our server Kurt was very helpful and provided excellent care. Everything is ala carte, so bring your big wallet. The value was there, but I had not planned to spend that much for lunch for two.

Beef tips oh yeah

By Fred L |

Amazing food and service. This is a wonderful place for dinner at a fair price that happens to be delicous!

Great food

By Alicia D |

I really loved this restaurant, from the service, to the taste of food. The Lobster Carbonara is really amazing. Serves 2. The restaurant is really fancy and the personal really kind.

Easter Bundle

By jean b |

Maggianos Little Italy ran an Easter Bundle Special for Easter weekend. We were able to pick up four large bags of food on Saturday. The drive through was so organized that we were in and out and five minutes. The young man who brought the food to our car had a large smile on his face and thanked us for coming. The food was easily warmed up on Sunday for Easter lunch and was delicious. There was more than enough for our entire family and we are now enjoying the leftovers. Maggianos made our Easter very special.

Delicious

By cherylf124 |

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Super $5 take home deals with purchase of an entree. I enjoyed the wait staff. I would definitely go back. I wish there was a Maggianos in The Woodlands, Texas

Great Italian food! Poor service :(

By Karen G |

We ate dinner here last night with friends. Sadly the waiter ignored us for at least 15 minutes before even bringing water. When he did finally show up there was no apology for his tardiness. This may have been an anomaly so I won’t dwell on it. Food was great and the portions are HUGE! We love the open seating atmosphere here and come often.

Always wonderful Italian

By 3Constance2016 |

Love the ambience, the Sinatra music, the staff and the Italian food. My favorite is the lobster carbonara.

Great Italian Food

By Bucklesplus |

Great food at a great price. Their menu has something to satisfy every palate. Their Choice Pastas offer a meal now and one to take home for tomorrow. Such a deal! Service is excellent as is their wine list. You can't go wrong with any menu selection.

Good food

By mel19802016 |

A quick disclaimer this is a rather pricy spot not quite a four star place but definitely more than most chains. The food is good quality we got a pretty wide variety of dishes and they were all tasty and we'll portioned. The Ceasars salad was under dressed was about the biggest problem we ran into.

Large group, short notice, good food, great service.

By Steve S |

Surprise birthday party for family and friends visiting for a wedding. 20 of us and the service was excellent. The food at Maggianos is not a 5, but beats Olive Garden. Too many dishes to name, needless to say it was served up hot and filling. I would have given a 4 1/2 if possible. Only small complaint was it is a 20-25 min drive from the Riverwalk.

Terrible timing

By Aldo B |

The restaurant service is insanely bad, they do not communicate with you. I had a reservation for 6:30 and i waited more than forty minutes to get seated. I was extremely disappointed because it was my birthday and that reservation was for nothing because i ended up waiting more than what I wanted.

Food Good, Service Terrible

By William M |

Been here many times over the years, always wonderful, until last night. We learned that the new owners of the chain want to make Maggiano's more "upscale." That's why they stopped the inexpensive entrees you could take home with you after your meal, removed the photos of Chicago landmarks which many of us ex-Chicagoans appreciated, raised the prices -- especially the wine. The food was still good, the service less so; S-L-O-W, and this was a Tuesday night with a lot of tables empty. We sat at a booth in the bar, which we prefer. The server was also the bartender, and she acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there. It took about 10 minutes before she took our drink order, and another 15 minutes before we got them. One drink recipe apparently was above her pay scale: put some ice in a glass and pour vodka over it. If the new owners of Maggiano's want to create a more upscale experience, they should start with the service expected in an upscale restaurant.

Lunch

By Joanna C |

We visited Maggiano’s Little Italy on Aug 19,2021. The atmosphere was so amazing. The food was awesome and the projections were huge. We took home half our food. Our server Kurt was a delight. He was very attentive and we never had to ask for drink refills. I fell in love with the design and layout of the restaurant. It was like a real speak easy from back in the day. I will make it a point to come back here every time I’m in San Antonio.

Perfect meal!

By abqsage |

We met friends there and enjoyed a couple of hours of delicious food, wonderful service and a great ambiance. Everything was excellent, but the zucchini fritters we had to start the meal were superb- really to die for! Could have made a whole meal on those. Can't wait to go back and have some more.

Excellent service!

By Andrea H |

Food was very good. We loved the buy a pasta, take one home menu! Cesar salad was exceptional. As I mentioned our server was absolutely awesome!!

Great Brunch

By Curt S |

My wife and I decided to come here after church and were surprised that they now offer brunch. When you come, you must try the individual bruschettas which were amazing. My wife had the ham Benedict and I had crab Benedict, both of which were really good. My wife had a craving for pancakes, which we split, and I must say that they were fluffy and outstanding. Needless to say, we will be back!

Nice Italian style cuisine

By Kschezv |

Nice Italian restaurant. The food portion were big enough to fill you up. Our waiter men was great. The food was delicious. Our appetizer, as always, was spinach and artichoke dip and it was to die for deliciously creamy. I order a linguine pasta with shrimp and a “diabolo” sauce with lot and lot of shrimp okay I am going to say it too much shrimp, really it was great. Prices were reasonable. We order a la carts but they also offer a family “sort of buffet” option for your table on request.

GOOD ITALIAN FOOD IN SAN ANTONIO

By DarylJ552 |

Maggiano's Little Italy is located in a large shopping mall on I-10 West. It is a large popular restaurant and a reservation is a good idea. We were a group of 8 celebrating a birthday and we got a nice large table in the center of the dining area. The young male server was very efficient and the food and drinks were very good

Wonderful food! Kudos to the chef!

By ldwhoffman |

While we have dined in at this restaurant many times, we have been getting carry-out since Covid started. All of their menu items are great and just as good carry-out as dine-in. I really like a number of their Italian dishes, but you must try the filet. Normally, I would not order a steak at an Italian restaurant, but theirs is unbelievable -- and better than those I've had at a lot of high-end steak houses. It is so tender that you almost don't need a knife, and the flavor is amazing with the steak butter and seasoning they add. The shrimp scampi and shrimp fra diavolo are exceptionally good as well.

Always consistently good

By Vickiell02 |

This is a go to I can count on for consistently delicious food. When I want Italian this is the place. Veal Marsala was great

Great food but service lacking a bit

By Ellen L |

Food is always great which is why it's always crowded. We had Marco's Meal which is an appetizer or 2 salads, 2 classic pastas (includes 2 classic pastas to take home), and a dessert for $43.50. We enjoyed the chopped salads, pasta, and for the chocolate cake to go. Our waiter was fine, but disappeared for long periods, even though he only had 2 tables. Otherwise, it was great!

Easter Meal, Fantastico!

By Mark S |

Today is Tuesday and we just finished our last bits of food from our Easter Bundle. We weren't sure how everything thing was going to turn out, since we had to heat everything ourselves. We wanted to support a local restaurant during this time of trial for restauranteurs and small businesses, so we ordered the meal deal. The food was fantastic and we had plenty to eat for several days--lunch and dinner. Thanks for everything!

Super pleasant surprise...

By Brad R |

Located in the Rim, an upscale shopping area, and with 3 valets out front, I expected over priced Italian food. What I received was outstanding service, excellent food, at a more than reasonable price. My server was Joy and she was delightful. New to the restaurant but not to serving, she guided me through the menu like a pro. Had the spaghetti and meatballs and took home a lasagna. Price was totally reasonable.

Awesome Famiy Venue

By Lisa Leia G |

Awesome venue to meet up for meetings, family gatherings or socializing. Management and waiters are very attentive. Love the mozzarella sticks and Chicken Piccata.

Always good!

By Dreama S |

Decided on a late night dinner after driving in from Fredricksburg. We ordered our usual; a gluten free rigatoni D, a maggianos salad, a kids macaroni and kids spaghetti and giant meatball. Everyone was very friendly and the food was yummy as always.

Great food

By Harold H |

The food was very good and servings were generous, we shared a meal Had a salad to start that was just right, nice and cold

Casual Saturday Dinner

By Alanhimmelstein |

Went with friends for a casual dinner. Made reservations through Open Table - seated timely - wait would have been over an hour! Service was good as was the food - nothing exceptional but nothing bad. Had light take chicken parmigiana and my wife had linguine and clams. As the restaurant was so busy and noisy, we felt rushed as if they wanted us fed and out the door to Steve the next guests.

Solid mainstream Italian food

By FiveDivers |

Have been coming here since they opened. Good food. Good service. Good prices. Solid “American favorite” Italian food. Love their matching pasta take home program…real good deal dollar wise and super convenient to have a ready to go meal at home.

Family Birthday Celebration

By TahoegpSA |

Family gathering to celebrate my Wife’s Birthday! Hostess was very nice about the late arrival of a couple members of the party. When seated, our Server Aaron made some great suggestions for appetizers and entrees. Working mostly by himself, he managed to keep up with all the requests. Our group was very appreciative!

You will be amazed from the bar to food

By Robert B |

My wife and I visited the first time last week. Advice: make a reservation! We started in the clubby bar with great drinks made by a great bar tender. Then were shown to a booth and enjoyed the bruschetta (5 different types). It was difficult to select only one main entre...many options...the ones we ordered were fabulous but we could not finish them so ended up taking them home for a second meal! We returned last night...great drinks and food.

Good Italian

By Katherine L |

One of our favorite places for Italian. They also often have great BOGO offers. Their lasagna is my go-to dish. Somehow I nearly always end up ordering that. Great wine list too. One of the few places that has Spumoni on their menu. Yummy!

Yummy to the last bite!

By BUSAMAN007 |

Ate at this place in Dallas and it was delicious so I thought I would try the one in San Antonio It was delicious as well! You can't go wrong with this place! Even though it's a chain it's one of the better ones! Great service Great Food and if you order a certain dish they send you home with one for free! Now who does that these days ? I will always return

Fabulous As Always

By Julie K |

I cannot say enough about this place. We have never been disappointed when we've come here. The service and the food is outstanding. Our server, Kurt, was exceptional. We were celebrating our son's birthday, and Kurt went out of his way to make our experience so special.

Wow!!!

By Leonard O |

This place is great! Was crowded but good service. Food is incredible! Go with Marco's meal for two - worth every penny as you get two full-sized portions of pasta to take home! Can't beat that! Just a great place and probably the best Italian restaurant in SA.

Delivery

By Lori & Dan |

We order delivery on occasion. After a missed delivery a couple of days ago, we decided to use the credit today. What an amazing meal. We had the spaghetti & meatball meat sauce as well as the broccoli garlic sauce. The broccoli was phenomenal!!! Cooked perfectly. We will order that more often. The meal was hot. Great job all!

Solid Italian meal & experience

By ayers002 |

This place is always a hit. The ambiance sets the mood to comfortable and the service is wonderful. They offer a buy one - get one “to take home” menu along with various other options. They start with bread and oil for the table, but be careful, its easy to eat 10 pieces and be too full for your meal. The fettuccini Alfredo is my favorite and my wife enjoys the eggplant Parmesan. Great spot.

Calamari, Calamari, Calamari!!!!

By Tina B |

Lemonade and Calamari are the best! I am a calamari "connoisseur" and Maggiano's definitely has one of the best I have ever had. Also love the chicken and spinach Manicotti.

Excellent food excellent service.

By Tammy B |

We had the Salmon Oscar, Caesar salad, garlic bread and lemon piccata. Everything was excellent but the salmon was to die for. It had lump crab, cream sauce and dried tomatoes all over the salmon which was served on top of steamed spinach and asparagus. Absolutely a must!!

A consistently enjoyable experience with great food, friendly staff, and delicious gluten free options!

By PhyllisMarie |

My husband and I truly enjoy dining at Maggiano's at The Rim in San Antonio! If you're passing through San Antonio and looking for exceptional Italian food paired with wonderful service, this is the place to go. On this visit, we sat at the bar where Charlie was incredibly helpful and provided delightful conversation. He expertly multitasked while still making us feel well taken care of. We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Edward. He struck up a conversation with my husband about Italian-style spicy flavors and went out of his way to ensure those flavors were incorporated into the Pasta Lobster Carbonara -much appreciated! As someone who is gluten intolerant, I highly recommend The Finest Fusilli Alfredo with Grilled Chicken. The portions are very generous, so sharing is easy, or you can ask the kitchen to split the meal and package part of it to go. A consistently enjoyable experience with great food, friendly staff, and excellent service.

Amazing!

By sittingpretty7 |

We love Maggiano's! We have been a few times and it is always great. They take reservations which eliminates most of the wait time and everyone is so friendly. I was blown away this time because they remembered me from previous visits and welcomed me back. We had the prime ribeye tonight and it was delicious! The cheesecake is the best I've ever had!

Superb!

By kechkaren |

No other restaurant makes Italian food like Maggiano’s. The best ever! Wine choices are great. Love the ‘order entree take one home’. I️ can’t make spaghetti sauce as good as they can!! Staff is THE best!!

TOO MANY CHANGES DON’T GO!!!

By Michelle B |

1/18/2025 Took my youngest daughter to dinner after our trip to an anime convention. Its rare for a 15 year old to spend all day with mom so I wanted to end our special day at her favorite restaurant. She ordered her favorite shrimp alfredo and I wanted eggplant parmigiana. I didn’t see it on the menu so I ordered chicken parmigiana. Our waiter explained some changes to the menu since we hadn’t been there in a couple of months. I asked if they still had the special take home entrees if you bought entrees at the restaurant. That special was a limited time offer. We have been going there for 2 years I believe and they have always had this special. I get it inflation. Then I asked where is the seasoning for the olive oil. That is no longer available. I can bring you Parmesan cheese, red chili flakes and balsamic vinegar and you can make your own seasoned oil. OK?!?! WOW?!?! So I assumed eggplant is out too! I was too tired to ask. When our food came out both entrees were cold. Never ever had we ever had a cold or even Luke warm food here. It always came out piping hot. The manager came (didn’t catch his name too tired from convention). He wanted our plates back. Said we are not going to re warm it in a microwave. We don’t have a microwave. Which I thought was weird of him to say. The waiter came and asked if we wanted a soda. Since we didn’t order drinks initially I thought it was a free offer since we had to wait for our food to be re cooked. Well our food came out nice and piping hot. We waited about 15 minutes. My chicken parmigiana was good. However, my daughter’s shrimp alfredo was runny and she said her shrimp tasted funny. I know by looking at her dish the shrimp is different from what they used prior and the sauce was very runny when prior Alfredo sauce was thick it would cling to the pasta. The shrimps are bigger and have the tail still on but she said they don’t taste as good as the small shrimps with no tails the use to use. She was upset. I didn’t complain about her Alfredo because I was tired and she said she was full from the bread and calamari we ate before our entree. Waiter brought our bill and we were charged $4.50 per soda and no discount. I again assumed the manager would have done it automatically or at least would have told the waiter to put in a discount. My problem is that I assumed this nice restaurant would automatically do this especially if food is sent out cold. NOPE!!! I asked the waiter if he could get the manager for me. He asked me what is the problem?!?! Really?!?! I said we had to send back our food. So the manager came I explained the drinks and I apologized for assuming it was free courtesy since we had to return our food for being cold. He said no he shouldn’t of charged you for the sodas. I said also what discount do I get for being served cold entrees and having to wait longer to have them re done. He said I can take 30% off your bill plus the drinks the waiter shouldn’t of charged you. OK great but I had to ask the manger to do this. A good waiter would of asked his manager before the bill was given to me and wouldn’t have charged me for 2 sodas. Also I asked the waiter to box our calamari leftovers. There was none in the to go bag. He said there was only a little bit left so I didn’t box it. I said I asked you to. I don’t think 1/3 of the calamari plate is a little bit but OK ignore the customer’s request and do what you want. Seriously disappointed with everything….food, service and management. My daughter was so upset and disappointed. She said I don’t want to have my sweet 16 birthday dinner here anymore. She said I don’t want to come here again. It was a lousy ending to a perfect day spent with my daughter. My oldest ate the shrimp Alfredo when we got home. We didn’t say anything about our bad experience. Since the entree was still warm she chowed down. The first thing that came out of her mouth was this shrimp taste weird. It taste like it’s fake (you know like that fake crab meat). Then she said why is the alfredo so runny. I kid you not. She knows what the alfredo use to taste like.

Murder mystery dinner

By Terry H |

In one of the party rooms they put on a murder mystery dinner party. There were 8 tables of 10 people. With staff acting out the murder. You and the other people at your table have to figure out who did it and why. They survived the food family style. If you want a drink from the bar that's extra. It lasted about 3 hours. The cost was $65. Per person

A great experience

By Tonie H |

Make sure you make reservations if you are going on the weekend! Very busy, great service and good food. They have a good variety to choose from and many gluten free options.

Everything was incredibly delicious!

By Sarah E |

My favorite was the stuffed mushrooms. Loved the fillings, the flavors blended well together. Also ate the chicken parmigiana. The outside was crispy and delicious!

Great Service and Food!!!!

By WhiteyT |

Fantastic food and great service. The family decided to go there after a long day of shopping at La Contera. I was a little worried since it was just before Christmas and a Saturday. I downloaded "OpenTable" app and made a reservation at 4:30pm for 5:45pm. We arrived at Maggiano's and bypassed a 3 hour wait. So I highly recommend calling for reservations. As stated earlier the food was awesome and the service as excellent. Never had to ask for a drink to be refilled or wait longer than a couple minutes to get anything we asked for. Maggiano's is a bit pricey, but well worth the occasional visit with Fam. Food portions are large.

LUNCH WAS WONDERFUL!

By Kathy R |

We went for Lunch, the food was excellant, service was great and the place decor was very nice, I will differently go back again!~

Very good service and food

By Marc T |

Matthew took care of us and was very friendly and expedient. Do not miss the varieties of bruschettas, all were very tasty. Main courses were also great.

Do not bypass this gem.

By Dave A |

In my evaluation this the premier Italian restaurant in the city of San Antonio, Texas. We have never ever had a poor meal at Maggiano's Little Italy. Every item we have tried has been excellent. They know how to cook pasta. It's not mushy like at other places. The service is top notch. What's not to like when the service and food are of the highest standard!!

Don’t use their catering service

By markhogan81 |

We love to eat at Maggiano’s. The food is delicious and the service excellent. Always!! However, if you want to be heartbroken and possibly pull your hair out, just attempt to use their catering services. They take messages and promise to get back to you... and don’t. After you make numerous calls to set up the catering, then they don’t deliver the food. I cannot believe these two organizations work under the same roof.

Great place for fine dinning

Took my two daughters there and enjoyed the meal. This place is always serving the best food, and has the best staff. Our waiter, Casey, was a delight, always on time with refills and conversation. The food here is rich, flavorful and always the best. Don't pass this one up, and save room for their incredible desserts.

A+ Big Menu, Big Portions, Solid Service!

By Mark |

Frequent diner alert: You'll never leave hungry. With Sinatra crooning in the background, and red & white checked table cloths transporting you to Little Italy somewhere, Maggiano's food and service are top notch. I recommend reservations for dinner especially on weekends. Try EVERYTHING! My faves are the pear, prosciutto and blue cheese Bruschetta...Chicken Saltimbocca...and the light, refreshing lemon cookies. Bonus: Choose from one menu section and you select a complimentary take-home entree from the same grouping.

Very bland food

By KMdds |

Went here on the recommendation of friends. All three of the food items I tasted were very bland almost to the point of being tasteless without adding lemon, salt or pepper. I had the "Tuscan style" mussels as an appetizer. The mussels had literally no flavor, as if they were steamed in plain water and then added to the bowl of tomatoes and beans. I was very disappointed. For our entrees, my wife had chicken piccata and I had linguine and clams with white sauce. The chicken was cooked nicely, but there were virtually no capers in the dish and only after adding lemon juice and salt and pepper did it have really any flavor at all. My linguine and clams were very bland as well, and adding salt and pepper can only help so much. I've been to plenty of authentic Italian restaurants in the Northeast US and this place is nowhere close. I would prefer Macaroni Grill or even Olive Garden to this place (and I don't even like Olive Garden!). Choose another restaurant if your looking for real Italian food.

The real junk food

By jokatkj |

My love affair with Italian food started when I went to live in London for two years. I always wondered why I was never into Italian food when I lived in Texas. Well, here I am, and I decided to have dinner in a top rated Italian restaurant in San Antonio. It didn't go so well. The food portions are huge and heavy with cheese. The food tasted sluggish as I bit into it and started the negotiations for chewing. I ordered pesto chicken with ricotta cheese balls. The chicken cheese balls were overloaded with fennel. To be honest, they tasted like gripe water for babies more than a food for a human adult. My girlfriend ordered eggplant pasta. It was full of cheese and tortured unfulfilled desires for a satisfying meal. I asked for my check, paid $60 and did not take anything to go. I will never come back to Maggiano little Italy. Horrible food. Don't come here.

Bulk Italian

By SDCSR |

A regular stop for us. The Italian is quite good as are all the dishes we have tried there. Nice bar with typically overpriced drinks. Don’t expect to hold a conversation while you’re there. The acoustics are awful and during dinner hour it is way too loud. Try to eat at off peak.

Magianno's Little Italy

By Ellen A |

Great location, great food, great people, great fun! I enjoy going to a nice quiet restaurant with good food. This is a place that meets my expectation and the people are so nice. My son ordered a pasta dish that had a special of taking another one home. What a nice surprise. We don't have this restaurant in our area. It's such a nice treat when we eat at Megianno's Little Italy. It was especially nice in San Antonio.

pretty good place

By Steve D |

You can have a pizza custom made. They have almost any reasonable item you'd want on a pizza. If you don't like the pizza, it's pretty much your fault as they make it anyway you like. They also have salads there. Service is pretty fast and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable too.

Worst service I have ever had - anywhere

By AuntBec |

I made a reservation three days in advance for a party of 14 for my niece's birthday dinner. I also gave them the information that it would be on one check, but we would probably need more than one server. The young lady was great on the phone, they confirmed our reservation the day before, and we were all set. We were seated quickly. And then we sat. And sat. And sat. There was another table next to us that was also a larger party. When their server came around to them, we asked about our server. "I'll find out." And we sat. Finally, a young man asked if we would like water...yes, water. Of course, we all did and possibly something else to drink. It actually continued this way all night. I didn't want to embarrass my family, so I wasn't rude, but I was getting close. I finally found the manager, who rushed over to bring us.....water. Although some of us got something else to drink, there was never a refill, nor could we keep the water coming. It was ridiculous, but not comical. The reason I didn't give this a terrible rating is because the food was good. The appetizers and salads were great, the entrees were hot and really tasty, and the desserts are great too. I honestly think the server should be fired, and management needs training as well. We won't be back.

Meh

By Amber G |

Came here for my son's birthday dinner while on vacation because he loves Italian food. My husbands food came out cold and tasted like a lean cuisine meal. The alfredo sauce had more of a soup consistency than actual alfredo. Bread was like a french loaf from any grocery store cut up into slices. Service wasn't terrible but not great either. The whole experience was meh and it cost $90. I'm honestly surprised this place has such high reviews.

Anniversary dinner

By Hank956 |

Return trip and never disappoints. Came with the Mrs, Jon, Chi and Yong. Appetizers of fried cheese and calamari. They were great. The calamari was good, not overlooked and crispy. They have great dinners specials, order one and one to go, AWESOME. The beef pappardelle is very flavorful a must order. The fettuccine is also very good. Jon did not know what he wanted to so the waiter suggested the special item, beef, mushroom ravioli, garlic mashed potatoe, and asparagus. We had 4 to go orders on the other items orders, wow, awesome. Of course dessert, we had the five item Special, two creme brûlée, two cheesecake and tiramisu. Great service, and great food.

Good bread and service

By DD S |

EXCELLENT bread and very attentive waiter. Ordered the shrimp scampi because I was soooooo hungry for pasta, but first it was cold, then after a quick reheat it came out with no flavor even after quite a few shakes of parmesan. The cherry tomatoes were not fresh. I had an EXCELLENT waiter.

Let’s stop by, enjoy a meal and say hello!

By PhyllisMarie |

Maggianos has become one of our favorite places to stop when traveling up or down Interstate 10. It is as if we are stopping by a friend’s house and they have a delicious meal ready for us. Aziel greets up and says welcome back as we usually eat at the bar. With as many people as he sees in a 4-6 week period of time he remembers us. His very pleasant, cheerful and professional demeanor stands out! Ed the manager gives a handshake to my husband and once again they talk about spicy foods. We catch up with conversation, travels we have both had and it is always good to see him. If you are looking for phenomenal service, excellent food, multiple options, large serving sizes (we usually have them split ours in the kitchen taking half home for another meal), and a gluten free pasta for me, THIS IS THE PLACE TO STOP!

bad experience

By Brother J |

Sunday brunch 1 server for an entire section meant sporadic appearances. Bland chicken dish for me, watery sauce shrimp dish for someone else, no offer of dessert nor wine. But again, the young guy was stretched way too thin. Why on earth would you cram ‘just one more table’ near the swinging kitchen doors that were kicked and slapped over the hour we were there? I will never go back. It is over priced Italian fare and no better than any of the other nearby competitors.

What a Find!

By Lynne P |

Staying nearby for a 4 day get away & read reviews so decided to try it. The reviews didn’t do it justice- it was fantastic! First of all, Happy Hour is til 7 and in the dining room, not just the bar. Not only is wine$5 a glass but at least tonight the Coppola Red was $20 a bottle! Wow! Then they have all types of specials. We ordered one of their classic pastas ( ravioli, eggplant, lasagna, etc) Either $14.25 or $16.25 but not only do you get your dinner but you get one to take home with you - what a concept! Plus must put in a shout out for Blake, our server! He answered ALL my questions, was super attentive but also gave us the time we wanted. Perfect as was everything about tonight. We’ll be back!

SO MUCH FUN!

By Wahzah |

Six of us recently enjoyed a late Saturday lunch at Maggiano's Little Italy and it was SO MUCH FUN! Christmas is only a couple of weeks away and the restaurant was filled with large gatherings and laughter throughout the large open dining hall. It really DID feel like a huge, comforting, family reunion. Our waiter Justin Blake was fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful. Every person in our group ordered from the "Buy One-Take One Home" menu. What a deal! No complaints from anyone. Speaking for myself, the Pasta Primavera was absolutely SUPERB! Nice wine list, too!

Great Italian food

By John F |

Been shopping and decided to stop by Maggiano’s for Happy Hour. It was awesome and the prices were at least 50% on select items. I will go again.

Bulk Italian

By SDCSR |

Nothing bad and nothing positive worth mentioning. Bulk Italian served fresh with lots of bread. Their spumoni is worth the trip.

Murder Mystery was Great, Food was disappointing.

By want2know7 |

Our first time there, last night for the Murder Mystery Dinner. We had a great time. the mystery was fun, funny, and a challenge. The food however, was a disappointment. The salad, bread, Bruschetta, and fried zucchini was excellent, so we had high hopes, but the entrees did not deliver. The Chicken Marsala, was without Marsala flavor, the mushrooms were whole, and the dish tasted as though they were added as an after thought, which left the dish without much mushroom flavor. The salmon on a bed of spinach, was overcooked, and the eggplant Parmesan, was mushy and quite frankly indistinguishable as what it was supposed to be. Our table won, so we received $10 gift cards, so we may be back for appetizers and salad.

Wonderfully Great Italian Restaurant!

By Abdul F |

Great servers! Ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and meatball. Absolutely wonderful. Now I can die and go to heaven. WHoever put together the sauce and meatballs KNEW what he/she was doing. I have been to many restaurants - Italian - but this one KNEW what they were doing. We shall go again and try the Ravioli.

Great Place

By itihoame2 |

Went with five other friends, for our 1st time here. The atmosphere is beautiful. Our waiter was Kurt, and he was excellent. He was extremely helpful, fun, and at our call. He really made the visit fun. Would seek him out, whenever we return. The food was very good, and plenty of it. Wish I had taken my camera.

Incredible Meal, Expensive Drinks

By RicR |

We visited Maggiano's San Antonio for Mother's Day. As always after a short wait we were seated. Recommend having reservations. Everything was very good the food is tasteful, hot and plentiful. My only negative would be the cost of drinks. Drinks are way over priced, one 6 ounce glass of wine and a classic old fashion was $24.

Great Restaurant and Fabulous Tarimisu

By Lynda R |

Great food, and service. Chopped salad was made to perfection. Tarimisu was over the top, a small piece is plenty. Do not miss this! Everything was great.

Lunch

By HJBHHS2014 |

Great atmosphere, and good food. I must say, never have I had bad service or an awful meal. The quality and service is a five star rating, thank you Alex for the wonderful lunch service.

Valentines Day Dinner

By Thomas B |

Took my wife of three years here for a Valentines Day Dinner because this wS the restaurant where we told each other that we loved each other 4 years ago. I made the reservation in person two weeks earlier and asked the hostess Genesis if I could get a certain table. So I took her back and showed her the table that I wanted and she said yes that we could have that table which was the table we had 4 years ago. When we arrived Genesis had the table covered with a red table cloth and had Rose Petals all over it. Our waitress was Heather and she took wonderful care of us. This was just a perfect meal and all thanks to the staff at Maggiano’s. (The food was great as it always is.)

Always good food

By Susieangelgirl16 |

We love this place. Everything we order has been delicious. We frequently buy the “buy one-take one home” selection. The peppers and sausage is good and so is the lasagna. They offer a wide selection of Italian food in a clean environment with good service. Sunday can be very busy. Be prepared for a wait but that is usually a good indicator that the food is worth waiting for.

Great Food & Service! Will Accommodate Seafood Allergy!

By mkh143ek7 |

A big Thank YOU to our server Vincent "Vinny" for making my birthday meal with the family such a special one! Before my seafood allergy I ate anywhere and anything, including seafood which I love! However, the allergy has now limited my eating out due to cross contamination. I was so happy that the wonderful Executive Chef Adam Williams came out and discussed my menu options as well as ways to modify other items so that I could enjoy them. THANK YOU! This is such a huge relief for someone who has a new and very severe allergy. We enjoyed a great and super tasty meal along with having a ton of food to take home. The eat in /take home deals are excellent - Love the Eggplant Parmesan. The specials were also delicious! You must try the Goat Cheese Al Forno. Our picky eater even loved it! Lastly, a big fave of ours is their salads, they are so fresh. However, if you like a little less than normal dressing on yours, ask for the dressing on the side. Can't wait to go back!

great place to celebrate

By evelyn s |

This is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or a special get together with friends. The place is large enough to accommodate any number of people and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. There were eight of us for lunch and everyone was satisfied.

LOVE MAGGIANO'S

By Goodlollipop75 |

I LOVE this restaurant. The food is fabulous, the cocktails are real good and our service has always been spot on!

PLEASE CHECK YOUR RE CEIPT BEFORE LEAVING

By Vicente |

As always our food was good but the service was unusually lack, in view that the restaurant was not that busy.I had the Salmon Oscar, which was very good (actually took left overs home and were better the next day)..Wife got the Rigatoni D with less chicken and more mushrooms, and they messed up as always (neutral rating for this one). Daughter wanted a classic pasta, which is offered with a free one to take home) and when asked which meat to add, she asked for 1/2 chicken and 1/2 shrimp. Watch out for wine by the glass, my wife got a Sonoma Cutrer and was $18.50 (retail $30). All of this was OK, we love their food but the service was not up to par in spite of the place being unusually slow. I never look at the bill (actually most of the time do not even take it home), but I did take it home and found our that we were charged an extra $14 for the 1/2 and 1/2 meat my daughter ordered. Obviously the waitress padding the bill. So my advise, enjoy the great food but look at your bill before paying, I have learned to do so from now on.

Saturday mid day lunch

By VicMG |

Stopped for lunch between shopping at LaCantera Center. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. My niece ordered an eggplant pasta dish and was pleasantly surprised that it included a second serving to take home, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered a chicken breast fillet and Vesuvius potato entree which was good, it was an ample serving so I ended up with a doggie bag. I’d say this chain location’s food and service was better than that in the Chicago metro area. For the cost of lunch I’d rather dine at a locally owned Italian restaurant.

More authentic than Olive Garden!

By danielgkendall |

We went in around 3 pm, and had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The host was missing. We ordered eggplant parmigiana, and chicken parmigiana. The salad does not come with the meal, so it makes it a little pricey. The food, and bread are more authentic than Olive Garden. The salad is also authentic. The food is good here, but it’s a little pricey! Our total for 2 people was $43.27 plus tip. They have a very good olive oil dipping sauce for your bread. I recommend this restaurant, but if your on a budget you may want to eat someplace else.
