The meal was excellent - better than I remember from prior visits over the past 25 years. I started with the Thai curry crab bisque - excellent flavor with a nice kick. My Sea Bass was wonderful, and the steak, salmon, and risotto ordered by my group all got thumbs up for a great meal!

An evening at the Magic Castle is wondrous, mind-spinning, delightful fun. If you are fortunate enough to receive an invitation, by all means take the opportunity to don a fabulous frock or dashing duds and go!

Meal was great with a great view over Hollywood Blvd. Magicians were great. So many shows in one night.

We were lucky enough to be invited over to the Magic Castle and wow what an experience. My wife and I both fell in love with the place - the members of this club are so lucky to have this magical building on their doorstep. The building is second to none, and it is amazing how large it is from the inside compared to the outside, mainly down to part of the building being built into the rock behind it. The entertainment and food are both fantastic and we are already planning our next trip!

Menu was reasonable and food was nicely prepared. Not gourmet at all and a bit pricey but they have you.

Believe it or not, I really did not enjoy our visit to the Magic Castle. It's very difficult to get in, as you have to be specifically invited by a Magic Castle member or part of an invited group. You cannot see any shows there without first being required to eat dinner in their restaurant, which was shockingly overpriced with poor service. I felt really cheated to be forced to pay ridiculous prices for very average food & sub-standard service, but they pretty much hold you hostage in order to see the magic shows that evening. Most of the magic performances we saw were very entertaining, but some of them are occurring at (or near) the same time, so you cannot see all of them & have to choose only a few. Then there are often long lines of guests waiting for a specific show, with no guarantee that you will get in at all. The magic is great, but the way they run this place is really a rip-off. In fact, after paying through the nose for one evening there, a few months later I won free passes to go there again but let the passes lapse. I simply did not want to return. The Magic Castle needs to consider & focus more on the overall guest experience, rather than just greedily devising all kinds of ways to separate the visitors from the maximum amount of their money.

It's not often you get to do "dinner and a magic show" so this was all a bit of a treat. The service was excellent and our server was very attentive. I got the Beef Wellington which was incredible and went well with a glass of red wine. I think part of the experience is the mystique of The Magic Castle and not knowing exactly everything about how the evening is supposed to go. The magic show is more of a display of sleight of hand but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless. If you're a big fan of magic you might have higher expectations but you shouldn't walk away disappointed. The downside is you can't take any pictures inside, but I think that adds a bit more to the mystery of the Magic Castle as well. Dress attire is also an absolute requirement so be sure to pack a suit or nice dress if you're traveling.

We have been fortunate to have been invited to the Magic Castle on numerous occasions as a good friend is a member and magician! I should start by saying that you must be invited as the Magic Castle is NOT open to the general public. Sunday brunch is nice for families with small children, but we prefer the late evenings. As you arrive, there may be a short line for the Valet. Valet parking is not cheap, but very convenient as finding parking in Hollywood can be difficult and expensive. Union entry you are greeted and must say the magic words to open the "Secret" bookcase entry. I should also add that there is a very strict dress code. Men must wear sport coats, no jeans, and women must wear dresses or suits. All who attend must dine as well. Dinner can be pricey, but then again so are almost all restaurants in Hollywood. We had the lamb chops and filet and both were very tasty. After dinner we spent time at a few of the live shows, which are a blast, as was the magician at the bar on the lowest level. All said, its always a fun time at the Castle and we thoroughly enjoy our once a year, or every other year, visit! We highly recommend visiting if you haven't been before and can attain an invitation!

We had the opportunity to have dinner and then see the magic acts . It was amazing...This is strictly a formal night. Men must have a jacket and tie....Ribeye steak was ok, but the Flilet Mignon was fantastic...If you ever get the chance, well worth it.

I brought my husband here for a date night. He was less than pleased with the food to say the least. What could have ended up crashing and burning ended up to be a great night thanks to the top notch magic acts we witnessed during the evening. We were stumped completely over and over again. The magic takes place inches from your eyes and you will not believe it!!! Such amazing things, it was just wonderful! It is something very special to do!!! They have a dress code and it is a members only entry policy. We gained entrance thru a friend of a friend. Id love to go again but I hate to ask again and we don't know anyone else that is a member. Really a fun night!!

Went to the Brunch and it was probably best brunch I have had. Everything was fresh good variety and good value. Chilean sea bass, omelets to order, waffles, prime rib, crab legs, shrimp. Not a big magic fan but show was cute. Place is a little dated but great if you like that kind of thing.

Buffet style and very delicious- gammet ran from seafoods, salads, omelets, chicken and meat. Generous portions. Desserts were outstanding.

Get the world-famous Beef Wellington, you won't regret it. And order the Garlic Bread as an appetizer. This place is what life-time memories are made of.

I will be brutally honest with this review.. the magic for the MOST PART is pretty silly. There are a few choice acts I have seen there over the years that are pretty cool, but I would not say worth the price you end up paying to be there. The last time I went with my SO so that he could experience it once, and it was just so he could see the building. The interior of the castle is seriously the best part of the whole thing. It is unique and intricate and decorated so fabulously it is beautiful. The last time we were there we had reserved dinner for six. One of my friends no showed and they did not still charge us for six they dropped the charge to five. The wait staff though was prickly and rude despite most of us ordering alcoholic beverages and entrees. It was like the waitress was put off right from the get go that we didnt pad the bill with appetizers. We tried our best to be strategic to catch as many shows as possible. This landed us at three. One part of one show was very impressive the rest was just kind of silly. Oh also if you show up and your man is not in black tie with a jacket and tie they will lend it to you. Dress code is formal and is enforced.

Club is not open to the public but you can attend a brunch and shows there on Sunday if you are a guest at the Magic Castle Hotel (great hotel. See separate review). The brunch was huge and delicious but the performances are stars. Both a large stage show and small, parlor style shows where the magic happens right in front of you. I was there about 30 years ago and never forgot it. When our family was traveling to Califorina I planned the whole trip around a Magic Castle visit.

Once I entered in this house, I almost fallen loved with atmosphere of house - I can felt history of magic. Their service was totally amazing - friendly and really kind. And I can enjoyed amazing shows - Max Maven and Handsome Jack were top-notch, Magician in the bar named Mike Pisciotta also did great job. Their "Dress Cade" also really worked well here. This is the place where ladies and gentlemen got together and enjoy full of magic.

We had a wonderful and delicious dinner, then the main stage magic show. It was the week for new, young talent. They were very good and fun to watch. Some of the other extra shows were also entertaining. This is a must do.

If you've never been, you're missing out! It is definitely awesome, you will spend $100 per person probably, if not more - but it's definitely worth it! Just try not to blink so you don't miss anything! Had a blast! Food is great too! I threw my wife's birthday party here!

To come to this place and see magic is a treat. The food? Hmmm.. But the entertainment is pretty special.

The most magical place on earth!! I'm forever grateful for a place that gets me excited every time I go. The only place I frequent regularly. Some might even think I'm part of the decor I'm there so much! If you get to visit this private club you'll never forget it. You'll see the best magicians on the planet, new performers every week.

If you are fortunate and can secure an invitation, this venue promises not to disappoint. It is formal, so mind the dress code. The restaurant menu is traditional and well prepared. Service is excellent. The Beef Wellington is a great choice. Drinks are well prepared. While the drinks and the food are up to expectation, most go for the magic performances which are outstanding. There is ample opportunity to experience magic up close and personal. Several rooms in this old Victorian mansion add to the mystique and intimacy. If you enjoy magic, this is the best way to experience it.

We stayed at the Magic Castle hotel, which is why as non members we could enjoy this wonderful place. The magic shows were amazing. The atmosphere was awesome, and the food was pretty good. We went for Saturday Brunch. We would love to go back.

The Magic Castle is enchanting and worth seeing at least once while living in Los Angeles. Despite it's difficult entry, the food is among the worst we've ever had at this price point. Flavorless, unimaginative. Best to get drinks at the Castle, and ignore the restaurant side all together.

We were fortunate to be a guest of a magician performing at the Magic Castle. It was a super-fun place! The food was top-notch and the atmosphere can't be beat. The service was great and the magic shows were phenomenal!

We received an invitation and WERE EXCITED, waiting almost a year to attend. However, the place was PACKED so we were only able to see one show the entire night. Lines were so long for the shows that we were told, even if we waited, that we would not be able to get in...So, you go to a place to see magic and we just walked back and forth between the bars and show places only to be told to go look into another show! It was a very expensive night and a complete waste of time!

From closeup to stage, the Magic Castle is world class magic. Different types of varieties from intimate closeup sleight of hand, mentalism, stage performances... Not only that but it has several bars throughout the castle and 5-star food! If you're in LA - this is a must visit venue (if you're lucky enough to get a pass from a member). This is an adults only MEMBER club so it's very exclusive.

Have been to the Magic Castle a few times now, and it just gets more overpriced every time I go. This time we were charged $20 / person at the door even though we had dinner reservations! I've never seen a cover charge to eat somewhere before. Just insane. The drinks are in tiny cups and overpriced and not good -- either way too salty or sweet. And the food was average beyond belief, even though the bill ended up being $160 for 2 people, including 1 drink each and tip. It is a very, very expensive night just for the ability to see two magic acts. The large stage show was fine and the close up magic show was amazing. However, I'd gladly just find a different place where the magician was performing and go there and save the $200+ dollars I just spent on a very below average meal.

Get there on time because you are on a time limit for the next seating. The server was terrific and very nice. We had a large party since it was a birthday celebration. Very attentive. It was a little confusing when it came to bill time because we were going to show and couldn't find our server. He was excellent though.

The shows were incredible, the decor unbelievable and the food spectacular... I can't wait to return - JUST. FABULOUS!

An excellent accomodation for the sights of hollywood boulevard. The rooms in the top section were almost apartments with catering facilities, obviously intended for long stay. Tired but clean and comfortable

The magic castle is worth one visit just to see the castle and some magic. you need to know a magician to get a pass to get in and they charge a cover and then force everyone to eat because of the $50 minimum food purchase they tack on to the cover charge. Plus another $15 to $20 for valet. The beef Wellington is just ok. The prime rib is probably your best best for an average meal. The service is very spotty because you are a captive audience. The magic is very hit or miss. In the main stage on our night two beautiful woman had were the headliners and the first two tricks were obvious and embarrassing. There are two main stages but you only get a ticket to see one of them. The rest of the magic beyond card tricks and sleight of hand tricks you have to plan very carefully. The lines are long in the smaller stages and hard to get into. If you plan to go make sure you ask if the castle is sold out when you go to book it. Oh and men don’t forget you have to wear a jacket and a tie and no jeans - no exceptions.

A private club so entrance may not be available to all. We were accepted as staying at hotel next door. Old world charm, maintained with dress code. Meal was delicious with lots of entertainment before and after. Would love to have been permitted to take photos to share the magic of the decor. A must for anyone who believes in magic.

We were there for dinner and the shows and it was a magical evening. With dinner and drinks for 4 it was well over $500. The staff was amazing and the shows were fun and entertaining. All in all it was worth it but just go in knowing that you definitely pay for the experience of old hollywood.

Going to the Magic Castle was one of the highlights of my vacation. I went with my cousin and her husband who are members. Everything about this place is magical. The food (I had the Chilean sea bass) was wonderful. The magic shows were fun and as normal humans, we kept saying, "How did they do that?" over and over again. Loved every minute of my visit to the Magic Castle! I love that there is a dress code, too!!

This was a highlight of our holiday for sure. Everyone is dressed to the nines and ready for fun. The hotel staff made reservations for us when we booked at the Magic Hotel, fast and easy but well in advance. Atmosphere and ambiance is through the roof and food was some of the best we had tried in Los Angeles. The wait staff is well trained and seasoned in the art of wine pairings. Magicians will leave you speechless as to how they did that. If we lived in LA we would book into Magic Castle for the night and make an evening of it. I mean why wouldn't you?

We had an amazing evening at the Magic Castle, beginning with dinner. The food and service were impeccable, but be aware that it is fairly expensive. They do push alcohol at the Magic Castle, so stay aware of how much you are drinking. Bringing a DD is a good idea here. There are wonderfully distinctive small bars dotted around the mansion. The Owl Bar features a stuffed owl who answers yes and no questions. Irma's Piano Bar features the ghost of Irma who takes requests--but there is nobody at the piano! After dinner the fun really begins with your choice of multiple professional magic shows in various venues. This is where the real magicians hang out, so be prepared to be amazed. There is valet parking, as well as a strict coat and tie dress code--best to check out their website before going there. Most men wore a dark business suit. To go there, you must be a Club Member or a guest, so wangle yourself an invite and have a great time at this unique spot.

Haven't been in years. Pleasantly surprised with how great it was and how much I loved it overall. Magic acts were great. Wellington medium well was actually the best I've had there over the years. I didn't love the chicken - too fatty and rubbery for me. Lobster cakes tasted more like crab cakes. $12 American rose tasted like regular inexpensive white wine. French bottle of rose much better. $13 valet parking overpriced. Dress code strictly enforced which is nice but there were women there who did not adhere to the code - i.e. they belonged on sunset or Santa Monica Blvd.

We did the family brunch followed by the 13:30 magus show - what a great way to spend a Sunday in LA. Efficient staff, world class venue and if you like a buffet that was superb. The magic show was worth the short wait and the audience was such a pleasant group to be with. Adding the Magic Castle to our holiday plans was a great idea. One comment, it did seem just a bit pricey, but again it was the experience of being of here that made it all worth while.

We purposely stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel so we could come here for brunch (we have kids and they are not welcome at other times). Besides brunch is a bit more casual and didn't require us to bring dressy clothes. It is definitely pricey given that there is an entry fee and brunch for adults is $45. That being said, the brunch was well done (tons of seafood) and the $25 entry fee can be considered the cost of the entertainment. The main show was OK, but we were really impressed with the close up magic show. Actually, we thought we had been closed out of the close up magic show when a manager came and brought those left in line to the cellar. There we saw a 19 year old magician named Blaze who was phenomenal! Apparently he is under contract to the MGM Grand. This kid was worth the price of admission.

The show at the Magic Castle is spectacular. It never fails to disappoint, very entertaining. The food is awesome too.

'Looking for something really really special for your trip to La La Land? Varoom! The Magic Castle is just the ticket. The Castle is much more than a restaurant.... it's an experience. The food, actually, is just so-so and a bit pricey, but that's not why you're going, trust me. Here's why are going: 1. Very cool - it's a magic club for serious magicians from all over the world, and you may run into some of them. 2. Bars - If I counted correctly, there are at least six bars throughout the Castle, so you're never more than ten feet from your next drink 3. Magic - Shows begin at 6, and continue into the wee hours. There's stage magic, close-up magic, and bar magic.... all presented by very very very good magicians. 4. An elegant night out - Everyone has to dress up (dress code is super strictly enforced), so you'll find yourself amongst an elegantly dressed upscale crowd. 5. Dinner - Like I said, it's not why you're going, but it's not bad.. just not great. The problem: It's hard to get in In fact, there's only two ways to get a ticket: 1) You gotta know a member 2) You gotta stay at the Magic Castle Hotel (right next door) And while the Hotel is not the Ritz, it's kind of cool in it's own way. Very LA, with a yellow color scheme, a convenient location, and a very friendly staff. Be sure to ask for a poolside room, and make sure you make your hotel reservation contingent on there being reservations for the same time at the Castle. They will check for you. Have fun... it's a really really fun night out.

This exclusive magician's club is a once in a lifetime experience. You will enjoy a meal on the second floor, with a great view of Orange Avenue. Then enjoy the magic acts taking place at various locations in the Castle. In between act, enjoy the various items on the wall/ceiling/floor throughout your tour of the castle itself. I went during young magicians week, and they were excellent!

This exclusive club is only for the best magicians. If you can get in, do it! You can enjoy dinner (although the food is only ok) but the best part of the experience is walking the halls and experiencing impromptu magic shows. There is a close up gallery as well to watch magic super close. There are larger shows which draw a crowd. Get a ticket or arrive early and wait for the shows to get in. I have never bought a ticket and have always gotten in if I am in line early enough. Usually the first 10 or so in line will get in. The drinks are great too! Enjoy listening to Erma the ghost who plays in the piano room and be sure to make a request. She likes to be tipped so don't forget that! All in all, this is a wonderful thing to do while in LA.

Rooms old & run down, thou staff were extra friendly & lovely nothing was any trouble. Our night at the castle wasn't as magical as I thought it maybe

We had a wonderful family experience here at a Saturday brunch. Nathan and Liam who was only 19 was brilliant. They’re so talented. The children loved the invisible piano planner also. Improvements, the food and drinks are expensive. If they made these cheaper people would drink much more.

The food greatly exceeded my expectations. The Magic was, well, magical! A great evening of dinner and entertainment and I am really happy we had the opportunity to go.

Ate here with corporate event. Very unimpressed with the meal, the flavor, and the quality of the food.

I was invited to eat here and enjoy some magic shows. The food was really amazing. I had a steak dish and my wife had a seafood dish, and both were out of this world! They also have a very nice wine list, and the desserts were really good. It is a bit pricey, but the food was worth it!

I agree with many of the other reviews - we came to the Magic Castle for the magic shows and evening entertainment. We were lucky to get a reservation at the restaurant (very hard to get) and were really impressed by how good the food was and how much variety the menu had. Our waitress was excellent - she gave us really good suggestions for what her favorite dishes are. The evening shows was great - excellent magic performed by experts in the field in a very intimate setting - which made it all that much more enjoyable. The "castle" itself is a magic museum and made the entire evening really special - definitely something to put on your bucket list!

Dining experience was terrible. The food was terrible and expensive. The staff was extremely rude the entire night. Also this place needs to be CLEANED, very dirty.

Best entree? #1: Colorado rack of lamb. Medium rare. Tender, tasty, no regrets! #2: Prime rib. Again, very tender and tasty. Generous portion. Probably best choice if you’re really hungry. #3: Beef Wellington. It may be their signature dish, but it was only fair in my opinion. Nothing to hate. It’s a tenderloin filet mignon cooked in a thin dough. Very, very tender, decent size, but far less flavorful. FYI: The main ticket act was unbelievable! He did the impossible over and over! Well worth it. The other acts were entertaining, but not life changing.

Excellent weekend brunch offering a great variety of quality selections. Everything was fabulous. Highlight of the brunch is the magic shows that follow, first in a main theater and then as selected. The weekend we visited included close-up magic shows by three incredible young magicians. VERY impressive. The castle is older and does require walking up and down narrow steps, especially to see the magic shows. Be sure and check out some of the great painting on the walls of the brunch area and the memorabilia lining the halls.

We eat a full meal each time we go. The trick is to start early, so you do not miss the shows. Everyone who eats in main dining gets a reserved ticket to the Main show. Very important. We order everything, filet mignon, lobster, mac and cheese, shrimp cocktail. All Good. Drinks are small

Must go if you can get invited by a member. What a wonderful time for everyone - lots of bars and places to enjoy magic. Staff is great.

Having dinner at the Magic Castle Club is an experience. The Dress Code is strict ( Coat and tie for men and dresses or suits for women ). Everywhere you went in the building ( more like a maze ) there was some sort of magic being performed. Oh by the way the meal was very nice.

Magic Castle is a dinner theater and bunch of bars. The member clubhouse part is not as important. Food is overpriced because thats what pays for the magic. You are allowed to order any entree, including veggie and salads to meet the food requirement. No drinks are required. Make reservations a week in advance. Warning, if you reserve for others who don't show you have to pay $25 each.

I can't even begin to explain how amazing the Magic Castle is! It transports you to another time where there are no cell phones ( no pics/video allowed AT ALL in the castle) and slight of hand magic is the main feature! The castle is made of many rooms and theaters that have mini-shows with various magician members of the castle performing some of the best magic you'll ever see. You are up- close and personal and don't be surprised if you're chosen to help out in a trick! The castle also serves dinner (and brunch on some days) and it's fantastic! It's a bit pricey, and I'd read reviews that said the food was horrible, but I found it to be very delicious and quite enjoyable ambiance. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. There are many bars thruout the castle, if that's your thing- my husband and I do not drink, but we were very happy to see they had a non-alcoholic beer stocked! If you stay at the Magic Castle Hotel next door, they can assist you with making reservations to the castle, otherwise it is a private club and I believe you need to be invited by a member to visit. If you get the opportunity, do not miss coming to the castle! We have enjoyed it immensely!

I've been here several times now. Every time is so unique and so different. I absolutely love how it takes you into an entirely different world. Like you've stepped into a time capsule. Everything stops, you focus on the present, everyone is engaged. It is one of those unique and highly exclusive experiences that you just can't put the right words to describe. It is all very intimate and wonderful. If you can ever go, I highly recommend going. I've been there for dinner and for late night. Their food is really good in the restaurant and the bar has amazing drinks.

If you can get invited make it into this historic building... welcome!!! You are one of the privileged few that have stepped into its halls! My friend is a magician, so he was able to get us in! Souvenir shop is the first room! Make sure to buy things before you leave! Through the hidden door in the book shelves you'll enter into the bar... one of many bars inside this building! The ghost pianist takes suggestions! Just ask for a song! The food is delicious, just make sure you have a plan of attack for watching the magic shows you want to see! There's a lot of close up card tricks and a main show that you don't want to miss. Did I mention that Neil Patrick Harris has his own Old Fashioned at the bar?! Drink it! No photos allowed! So try to remember everything!

I truly enjoy the Magic Castle and have been there on numerous occasions, at one point for classes. I'm also a member of IBM, the national organization for magicians and adore the many incredible perks of mind that magicians and audiences come to view. There are several different kinds of magic to see, from the close-up room, to (what I call - the intelligent humor room), to the big show. At times during the big show, one gets to see big stars in the business and international ones at that. The food menu is good and gets one ready to be full for showtime. The gift shop is charming and "Open Sesame" usually grants the grand owl to open that library entrance door. Enjoy ...

We just returned from another great ladies trip to Hollywood, where we stayed at our favorite hotel, The Magic Castle! Once again, the service was great. You are always greeted with a smile at the front desk and the staff is always so helpful. We love to lay by the pool and call the "popsicle hotline" for a fun treat. It's just one of the perks when you stay at this hotel. The location is ideal if you want to enjoy Hollywood. We already have our room booked for next year and can't wait to go back.

This is a unique and wonderful place, even if your not a big magic fan. The men must wear a coat and tie and the women dress up too. The meals are very good, but the magic shows are amazing. They have the top magicians performing in rooms throughout the building. We saw levitate to card tricks to tricks that astound you. The magicians are at the top of their game and each has their own style and presentation.

Up close and personal magic displays and shows, an incredible culinary experience, the feeling of history, energy and class. This is a must have experience for anyone who loves Magic.

Came here with family and friends as a guest of a member this week. The venue itself is fantastic - a lovely old Victorian era building in Hollywood, with some traditional atmospheric furnishings. There is no door from the lobby to the actual restaurant, but being a magical place, there is a way in, but I'll leave that for you to find out when you go! We all had a surprisingly, but much appreciated, punchy Margarita at the bar, it was an Organic Blood Orange Margarita - Tierras Reposado Organic Tequila, Thatcher’s Blood Orange Liqueur, agave syrup, and fresh lime juice. Then we went upstairs to the restaurant. It's got a lively atmosphere in there and the staff are very efficient. We all shared the Calamari for starters - fried and topped with Parmesan and parsley. served with yuzu Sriracha remoulade, and Absolut Peppar cocktail sauce. They were very good and I've eaten lots of Calamari in my time! I then ordered the Avalon Shrimp - white shrimp with Tuscan kale, cured tomatoes, asparagus, English peas, fresh herbs, garlic, and romano cream. It came with pasta and was absolutely delicious - top notch and set me up for an evening of subsequent magic shows in the venue. The place is also good value, so all things considered, I have no hesitation in recommending this place. Come and experience the magic for yourself!

We ate dinner here first and the food was excellent. The magic show was good. It feels very claustrophobic inside. Navigating around and trying to get in line to see the different shows of the main stage is a bit too cumbersome

I felt part of an exclusive club. I loved being fancy and dressed up and walking around to the different rooms. All of the magicians (and guests) were friendly and extremely entertaining. The food was delicious and I was apprehensive because of a few bad reviews regarding the food. Magic Castle was the highlight of my trip to California and I look forward to my next visit.

I came here on a company sales trip and had a good time. The place has been cleaned up since I last visited in the 1990s with magician friends. You have to know the magic word and there's a fun "ghost" playing the piano. I prefer the smaller room shows to the main stage.

yes the ambience is very nice and unique but the food is very boring. They have exorbitant prices without the food quality follow through. Unfortunately you have to buy this food as a requirement of your visit. You can't even choose soup, salad and dessert you must pick their entrees. Once is enough for this experience.

Well, this is a place you must try to visit in Los Angeles. I say try cause you need to be either member of the Magic Castle or being invited by a member. It is really an unique experience to try. The place and atmosphere is amazing and has no equal and the magic shows are superb. The food is so so in my opinion and a little overpriced, but you pay for the experience more than the food.

If you like magic, and you enjoy good food, this is a great option. It is really unique in the world. Yes, you need to check who the performers will be because as they change every week, it might happen that you see great performers or not...but as there are many shows available during the same night, you might be lucky as well.

It is a very unique place with both food and entertainment. We had a private room dedicated to Houdini with antique memorabilia. The buffet was better than expected. The seven and nine year olds loved the magic shows, the food and all the curiosities.

The Magic Castle is an invite only facility. If you are lucky enough to visit, it will truly be a unique experience. Admission and food is pricey but if you are in to the art of magic and fine fine dining, then it's not an issue! The food is exquisite! I had the beef wellington only because I wanted to try it every time I hear Chef Gordon complain about it on Hells Kitchen. It was very good and cooked to perfection. The food is AWESOME. The atmosphere is quiet and quaint but it's just perfect. The whole time you are eating dinner you are looking around, basically a lot of eye candy. The shows themselves are fantastic!!! All shows are set in an intimate setting, nothing like a Vegas show....the largest room I think holds less than a 100, if not less, it's not that big but it's their Main Room! Even up close, you still scratch your head. Overall, great night, great experience!!! Highly recommend if you get the opportunity for an invite!!!

We loved both times we were fortunate to know someone who had an in at this iconic and exclusive venue. We had such a good time and was able to experience both the dinner menu/service the first time and Sunday Brunch the 2nd time. Would love to be able to experience the Magic Castle again, no hesitation.

Our first visit was in the 80s, and the food and service was OK. Over the years we have been back several times with varying experiences, but am very pleased to say that now is the best time to visit (if you can!). The food is superb, the staff is amazing, the bartenders are exceptional. There are members wandering everywhere, of course, some performing impromptu on one of the many venues set aside for that purpose (6 or 7), there are 3 main showrooms, and 3 more on the busier nights. Artifacts from the variety arts, movies, old Hollywood and the world of magic are everywhere, and there just so much to take in that there's always something new!

Since we stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel we decided to take advantage of going to the Magic Castle for dinner and a show. It did not disappoint. Great dinner, great wait staff and really fun evening overall. Glad we decided to spend the money and see what it is like to have see magic in an up close atmosphere. Well worth going. I look forward to doing this again!

Love this place. The concept of magic shows and dinner. However due to the fact they want to keep the nostalgia feel it feels kinda dirty. I think they can update the vibe and keep the historical vibe with some effort. Food is good most the time. Must be a member or invited by a member to attend.

If you like good food, great drinks in multiple bars, and non-stop magic throughout the entire Victorian mansion...this is unforgettable. Steaks, rack of lamb, lamb shank melt in your mouth. Extensive wine list and full bar, including MC classic cocktails (if you like old fashioned, dont miss the bourbon one here). Magicians are scattered throughout the house...from relatively large stages, to much smaller shows in the multiple bars. After entering, you are free to wonder and sample the shows and drinks. Dinner is in 3 seatings in a setting that makes you feel like you're in Victorian London. While this is a private club for magicians worldwide, it is possible to make reservations as noted on their website., but make sure to plan in advance and be prepared for expense.

Obviously you come her for the magic, but we reserved dinner beforehand. It is expensive so we were skeptical, but the food lived up to the cost. It was wonderful - everyone enjoyed the food. Superb. Lamb and steak were favorites.

We enjoyed the Sunday shows and brunch. Which is the only day when you can bring kids to the magic castle which is adult only. It's pricey (yet less expensive than the disney princess table) but delicious. Many options from

I was lucky enough to be invited to this spectacular place. It was definitely one of the most fun and unique experiences I've ever had. The magic starts from the beginning as you need to say a password to enter the dining hall. Once you're in, there are several bars that you can frequent for a delicious meal, generous drinks and really friendly service. We especially love the owl bar! Order the beef wellington - it's pricey but worth it. The caliber of magic is just amazing - we saw several shows and were treated to some magicians who had set up shop in some corner tables. We were in absolute awe and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Honestly, it was one of the most entertaining nights I've ever had. I can't say enough how special this place is. If you're lucky enough to be a member or know someone who is, this is a "don't miss" attraction.

This was a great Saturday morning brunch with excellent service. The selection was large and the mimosas were delicious. It set the mood for the great day to come.

As I was with my 16 year old son we had to take a brunch on Saturday, but we had a fantastic lunch (food galore and bucks fizz for me which just kept coming...) and we both enjoyed the stunning magic acts and of course "people watching". We were staying at the Magic Castle Hotel which allowed as a daily membership

This was a really neat place! I love how they make everyone dress up nicely and the vibe is that of being transported back in time. We had a very entertaining evening and all the magicians were so interesting. A must do experience if you are visiting the Los Angeles area! Drinking and watching magic happen is the best way to describe how your night will go!

This is an experience that is unique and can't be explained, you have to live it. Dinner is included and was enjoyed by all washed down with nice wine and conversation. Many famous people have performed here and it is a fascinating building on its own.

The Magic Castle is a once in a lifetime experience. We were allowed in because we stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel but otherwise you need to be invited by a member. It is a once in a lifetime for most because you wouldn't be able to afford to go more than once unless you were rich and you wouldn't need to go more than once unless you were a serious magician with serious money who needed to network. The food was very good but very expensive. The main show was disappointing to me. Of the 3 acts only 1 impressed me. The other shows they do throughout the night in smaller rooms were much more impressive. I was disappointed in the way that they handle the queues for the smaller shows. People were lining up 45 minutes before to get in. We sat in one line for about 20 minutes to be told that the room was full. There was a sign at the end of the queue when we got in the line. On one side it said "room full" the other side said "non-ticketed guests queue here". The sign was on a 45 degree angle to the wall so it was confusing which side was meant to be showing. After we were moved off from this line we joined another which had the same sign in the middle of the walkway so we again had no idea which side it was meant to be displaying. We asked the people in the back of the line who had been there lots of times and assured us that with the length of the queue, there would still be lots of seats. There were. We didn't expect to stay too late but we still stayed until after 11pm and the place was still packed. It seemed like most were 'in the business' which was cool to see. Most of our time after dinner was spent waiting in lines and watching shows, we did see one magician performing card tricks at a bar and he was very good. There was only one group of people watching him and lots of spare seats. I think as it gets later there are less spectators which is good. Overall we enjoyed our time at the Magic Castle and do not regret going. It was a very expensive evening however, we justified this as it was our honeymoon. A final note on the dress code: We were entirely aware of the strict dress code as they make it very clear on the website and when booking. Despite this our hotel told us that so many people don't heed this and are turned away. I didn't believe that people could be so stupid, yet as we were passing through the lobby, we saw a rough looking guy in boardshorts, sandals and a shirt telling the man at the desk that he was on his way to the Magic Castle for brunch. When the desk man stated politely advising him of the dress code, he argued with the desk man about the dress code at brunch (I think they would know). I don't know what brunch is like but if it's anything like dinner, EVERYONE heeded the dress code. It's not one of these places where they have all these rules but when you get in you see that they don't take them seriously!

Spent an incredible day at the exclusive and mysterious Magic Castle in Hollywood thanks to a generous and gracious friend who is a member - sumptuous brunch buffet, amazing intimate magic shows, hidden passageways, secret doors and too many other wonders and mysteries to mention. Photos are not allowed beyond the foyer of this private club but my little girl and I had the most wonderful and memorable time with our lovely friend. A particularly special moment was when another Australian lady and I were chatting after Irma (the piano-playing resident ghost) had finished her performance at 3.30pm and Irma surprised us by suddenly playing “Waltzing Matilda.” Feel very privileged to have had such a wonderful experience and highly recommend a visit should you get the opportunity.

We were fortunate enough to score an invite from a member of LA's legendary Magic Castle club to a Sunday Brunch on the first day of our vacation to California. The food itself was very good, and there was plenty of it - traditional brunch fare like bacon, eggs, sausage and roast beef. Salads and other delicacies, all on buffet and however much you want. Plus free flowing mimosa's could have given us a nice buzz if we'd allowed it. The best part was the three magic shows, 2 prior and 1 after the meal, that were the highlights of the afternoon. A young magician, another slightly older who was also an LA working actor (an actual working actor! Who knew?) and the mainstage show featured two established magicians. The venue itself was great fun to explore, from the many photos, posters and caricatures on the walls to unexpected brushes with celebrities (not saying who exactly, but let's just say he plays a quirky character best described as a geeky man-child). Plus the ghostly piano that plays on request, to eyes that follow you across the room, there are surprises around every corner. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, do so. The price for brunch was fairly steep, plus there was a separate price for admission to the Castle itself, but it was worth it. By the way - stay at the Magic Castle Hotel next door - totally worth it (see my other review).

The mystery of it all is so worth it! My best friend has family that are members! What an amazing time and dinner!

I felt like Fred Flinstone when my steak arrived but it was delicious. Going to such a location you don't really expect to find such a terrific meal. Our party was very happy with all of our meals.

It's a private club, so you have to be invited there by a member. If you can find somebody who is, jump at the chance. True to it's name, it's a magical place, with things going on all the time. So much that you won't be able to see everything in one visit. Be sure to have dinner, both the food and the service are both top-notch.

Pricey food, but as an experience, this is a must if you enjoy magic. Several close up shows and we found these better than the main stage show. If you're eating there, grab some food on the way and order a lighter dinner - it is very expensive!

I had prime rib and it was really good. The entree cobb salad was large and tasty too. The salmon and shrimp were very small portions so if you are hungry, go for a steak. The pistachio creme brulee was a nice way to end the meal. They have happy hour with good prices so stop at the bar before dinner and grab a cocktail.

I recently visited the Magic castle for my birthday dinner. I have always wanted to go here and finally got a chance. Wow! This place does not disappoint. I really enjoyed the magic shows and a really great dinner(i had the lamb). My companion had the roast beef but she said it was a little tough for roast beef. Everyone else said their meal was terrific. I could have just hung out and enjoyed one of there five bars hidden away in all the eclectic rooms. All the servers where very informed about the history of the place which made the experience even greater. Only negative thing is NO PICs. ITs a place that you will always want to remember.

Any night at the castle is amazing. Dinner was wonderful. We have never seen a bad show or poor performance. Grab a drink, enjoy the ambiance and have an incredible evening out. The Magic Castle must be visited - if you can get in the club. INVITATION ONLY.

Just have to mention here you can't get in without an invite. Someone has to be a member and give you access to dinner at the club. It's so wonderful. It's a huge mansion that is made up of other mansions that were demolished when the Freeway was built. If you get to go and get your photo taken there (for a fee) they allow you to bring several guests for brunch (it's like a one time only pass). It's so worth it!

In a way, I don't want to do this review as this hotel is such a gem I don't want it to get too popular and hard to book, but these guys just do the whole hotel thing so well I just have to. From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel the most welcome guests ever. Checked in, given the list of available FREE snacks, drinks DVD's & games, then shown to our room and settled in. Lovely big comfortable room for 5. Clean and well maintained pool and a "popsicle hotline" phone beside it. Free use of the washers & dryers. Then you choose your takeaway from the selection of available menus and they'll call it for you! Simple continental breakfast in the morning, but it's good and all you can eat. This is the way hotels should be done. It was our second visit and it won't be our last! p.s. Special mention for Bryan. This guy is a born hotelier and an absolute superstar!

If you are a fan of magic you have to get here. The food is very good and the staff is excellent. Love it!

Fun place, with excellent magicians to entertain you. The food is OK, but that's not the highlight. The Castle and the entertainment are the reason to get here.

Took the kids to the family brunch--it's the only time youngsters are allowed. It was great fun, with magic shows geared toward kids and a delicious brunch. There's even a buffet just for little ones.

We were invited by a friend. Family of 5 $125 at the entrance including parking. We managed to see 6 shows. All magicians were great. Main show was amazing. I like the idea that they welcome young magician- we saw a 16 YO magician who was really impressive with cards. Brunch was very tasty but not for picky eater kids. $45 for adults, $20 for kids $165 for all 5. My kids enjoyed Irma the pianist. Overall great Saturday.

The Magic Castle is an amazing experience if you're lucky enough to get an invite to go and spend the evening there. I'm not sure exactly how everything works as far as getting in the door but I was there at an invite of one of the performers last night. This is really like an amusement park for adults you show up have an amazing dinner watch the magic shows eat amazing food at a five star restaurant drink a couple adult beverages watch some more magic shows then walk back out onto the patio to Your Valet parked car! The service in the restaurant is first class black tie wait staff. The performers are world-class and the whole place whimsically set aside from everyday life! Leave all of your day to day worries in the car with the valet... I promise you won't miss them!

But sadly the atmosphere which was just wonderful. Was not matched by the food. But on the other hand the staff went the extra mile and tried so hard. Better luck next time!

Lucky enough to be able to have a night at the Magic Castle, and it did not disappoint. We were there for dinner and the balance of the evening. Dinner was excellent. Service excellent. We were there for young performers week. The shows were astounding. The Castle itself requires a careful look as there are many many many items to look at. Kinda has the feel of a giant house party and a speakeasy at the same time. If ever given the chance to go again... I would do so in a minute.

Having lived so long in Los Angeles that I am practically a native, I have been to the Magic Castle many many many times. The night is always entertaining. With it's lore (it's an LA icon) and dusky hallways filled with memorabilia and a bar every 5o ft and magic acts occurring several times at different locations ... it's a reliable treat and a great place to bring out of town visitors. The food is ALWAYS bad and overpriced. I had a salad that was basically from a Trader Joe's pre mix with Newman's salad dressing and duck confit that cost $45. I maybe ate 5 bites ... but this is not the issue, (dinner is mandatory for entry. They also charge a booking fee on top which is around $100+ odd dollars). I came with some close friends, mom was visiting from Europe and it seemed like such win win experience. Immediately we started on the wrong foot, literally. Mom was wearing (designer) sandals ... but they HAD NO HEEL. She had fallen and fractured her wrist just that morning and the doctor instructed her to wear flats. Now, the Magic Castle has a dress code, which I have no issue with, but if you're looking at it from your phone, (there are images of acceptable attire somewhere) the written description does not mention needing flats to be CLOSE TOED. Apparently it's ok to wear ghetto heels with your toes hanging over them though ... but I digress. This isn't the point. Just be forewarned unless you want to buy some $30 ballet flats from China to wear through your evening. The point, is that when we arrived, valet was full. We were directed to a parking lot down the street. When our night had ended (around 12:30am) we went to get the car and THE LOT WAS LOCKED. There was no sign posted at the entrance we used. (It was on the other street entrance). When we said something to the "manager" and valet, they literally gave us the most RUDE AND DISGUSTED LOOKS. Telling us, that it was OUR PROBLEM. We had to get an uber to Calabasas ... and then back to pick up the car (through traffic) the next morning. SHAME ON YOU MAGIC CASTLE. Your front of house ... valet & security, exhibited horrible behavior. The first and last impression is the one you're left with when visiting some place new ... and your staff is a FAIL. (ps. the magicians were fantastic and so much fun as always! Too bad the entire experience left such a bad taste. I doubt I'll visit again).

There are so many fun things here, like the piano that plays itself when you request a song, the bar stools, the owl on the wall....the magic that is performed in several different rooms is amazing ! The food was very good and I enjoyed getting dressed up as suits are required for men. What a special unique building full of charm !

I've been to the Magic Castle several times. This last time it was just me and my boyfriend. What a great time we had- you definitely should arrive early no matter what time your dinner reservation is, so you can enjoy all the castle has to offer. There are 7 bars and who knows how many rooms that you can enjoy magic in. I seem to find a new room every visit. Invitations only, so this time I stayed at the hotel in order to get my invite. It was WELL worth it!

The best European / French style dinner that I have had in California. Starting with the service, polite, thoughtful, interactive, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The meal itself was truly perfect. We were four, and everyone marveled as they enjoyed every bite! The meal was served by course permitting us a relaxing evening to share and enjoy at our leisure. Each course was prepared fresh and served when we wanted it as we wanted it. Compliments to the chef and staff. Great wines too! Of course, I will return!!!

Just love the way they had kept it so exclusive. The shows were great. But just a bit surprise that they don't spend money to hire a better chef. If they put the effort to really offer great food, the place will be pack!!

Membership is needed. Or if you know someone they can get you in. Make your reservations, they are VERY stick on the clothing. NO JEANS & gentlemen need a jacket. Once you know your dining time, you can go see magic shows, there are about 4 rooms. So you go room to room on particular showing times.

In the words of Paul F Tompkins, why do magicians have a private club? So they don't get beat up I guess. Great fun for the family. Very touristy experience but my kids loved the magic shows and the meal was fine. Dress code applies. Would recommend.

Had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. You have your choice of a 6oz. & 9oz. It comes with roasted garlic whipped potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. Started with a Thai curry crab bisque soup that was really good and quite refreshingly different. Added a wedge salad . Great bread before the meal also. Dinner was excellent and so was the service. I have been many times and never had a bad meal. You must be a member or have a guest card from a member to dine at The Magic Castle.

This is an exclusive members only club! Or better get invited.... a night you get to dress up and travel back in time. Exclusive restaurant, bars, and all the little magic rooms tucked in various corners of the multi level club. From the moment you walk in with a secret code, you will be mesmerized throughout the entire night. Be careful... there are eyes watching on the wall if you don't pay attention ;) .. Go with friends, make it a super fun night -dine, drink, magic, never forget the ghost pianist named erma! She will play any song you tell her to and she will answer your questions with music! Absolutely love it! Oh remember: dress code is super strict (woman dress and man in suits), when in doubt, over dress! No camera is allowed in the club but you can take pictures right before you enter the secret door ... so, have fun!

We were luck enough to be invited to this exclusive club. Great Buffet. Fun shows. Wish they let in cameras to help preserve the awesome memory. Expensive and worth it

We love the Magic Castle. We went over Christmas with another family for the Sunday Family Magic Brunch. We saw three shows. Met Mr and Mrs Santa. Had an excellent brunch and we ended up in the Houdini room. The adults had cocktails and everyone had a lot of fun. Thanks Magic Castle!! Note if you get to go there. Be sure to Time the shows around your meal. You will get a list on entering. And expert can fit in 6 shows. Be happy if you get 4. The average person gets 3.

This place is spectacular. The ambiance of 55 years of magice...hidden rooms/tunnels and incredible entertainment. The food, amazing!

This is a club for magicians, but on every Sunday they offer a buffet followed by up to three magic performances. The performances are focused on having children through adults enjoy themselves. The buffet is good and reasonably priced.

Brilliant house keeping staff friendly and extremely helpful. Location, location to everything you would need to enjoy LA.

I felt so privileged to step foot in this exclusive place. If there was a reason to visit LA again, this is it! Constant magic shows, very professional staff. The steak was delicious. Pricey but how often will I have a chance to be in a place like this. Thanks for a magical evening!

So amazing and so unique! I have been here 3 times now and each time has been different and fun. The up close magic is amazing, as is the food! Definitely recommend.

Ok It's a private club and wearing a suit and tie is mandatory, still, a most intriguing experience. Food came out in fashionable time , cooked as asked . Excellent service As we had a party of fourteen. Not a glitch! After dinner we also had seats for the main magic show, which was a blast . Then we were free to walk about and catch as many shows as we could, drinking along the way at different bars throughout the castle. A lot of history also throughout the castle! All in all a great time , if you are lucky enough to get in, enjoy and have a wonderful time! If your concerned about money or nickel and diming then this place isn't for you! All kinds of magic and magicians eagerly awaiting to impress you with their tricks. I will definitely return!!!!!!

Always excellent magic which did not disappoint. HOWEVER, we only saw two shows as the Sunday evening crowd was just too many people. After waiting in line for a third show and copious people saving spots in line, we did not get in after we were assured by a staffer early on we were in good shape. Hand out tickets or staff it to not allow one person to hold a space for five more friends. Our dinner reservation was honored on time and service from Alan excellent. Drinks prices for Grey Goose at the higher end of pricing $42 for a double). Wines were about $20. Dinner entrees $50 plus with sides $16 each. That is after paying the entrance fee and valet parking fee. So bring your wallet. Lots of steps and limited seating in waiting areas. Lots of standing. It is still a magical spot for a very special evening. By invitation only, so find a member to get an invite. Bring a photo ID for all members. Formal dress required and checked. Suits, ties for guys. No denim, sneakers.

If you can swing a guest invitation...do it! I was lucky enough to be a member back in the '70s and '80s and saw some of the old vaudeville magicians...Wow! Great food and a night you won't remember!

We stayed here for 5 days 21st July til 26th July. Fantastic location quiet and very friendly staff Monica and her colleagues did a fantastic job as was Leo and other members of staff where a credit to magic castle hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families who are looking for a nice hotel but not far from Hollywood Blvd 5 min walk 15 mins by car to universal studios and other sites are easily accessible by car. I want to thank the management team and staff for their wonderful American hospitality. Th8s is a wee hidden gem in LA

We took advantage of the special deal with our accommodation at the wonderful Magic Castle Hotel next door. That gave us "free" entry and a bottle of sparkling wine, provide that we purchased a main meal while dining. We are not magic fans so didn't expect too much. But it was fun to dress up - mandatory, and strictly enforced dress code - and get driven up to the door. Most people were in parties so we were a bit like a sore thumb but one lovely lady acted as hostess and ushered us past bars to where our table and wine was waiting. The food was ok. A modest menu to choose from, but the dining is not the main reason for going. We were then treated to a show: an MC who was modern and very witty in his magic tricks and gags, and two classic acts. Lots of other opportunities to see other side "acts" in the many nooks and crannies in this superb old and quaint building. And for the magic buffs, historical displays. For us it was something really different but a once only. A must for those interested in magic.

We decided to stay at the Magic Castle Hotel so that we could get into the Magic Castle. The cost is $20 per person to get in the doors. We were there for 10am when the doors open. None of the shows started until 11:30am. The shows were not bad. We then proceeded for brunch at 12. $39.95 per person and under 10 was $19.95. The brunch had a large variety of food and it is a buffet. After the brunch you get tickets for the show which started at 1:30pm and is only 30 mins. This show was pretty good. Overall I'm glad I went and check it out.

By far one of the worst places ever! I don't even know where to start. The food is just awful. You would get better quality probably at some chain crappy restaurant like Applebee's or worst except that at those restaurants you'd only spend a fraction and have lower expectations going in. So after we were all disappointed with our gross, salty, dry, chewy foods (we were a party of 8 so we had ordered a lot of food) we were thinking that the "magic show" would wow us. But no! The magic show was surprisingly even worst then the disgusting dinner. Just think something you would see at a kindergarten- it was that bad. It was so bad it was ridiculous. They require men to wear suits and women to wear a dress not because the place is fancy or anything it's because it's filled with your grandparents and their friends! All and all, we spent approx $300 per couple and came home hungry and extremely disappointed. Lastly the place is sooooo old it smells like mold and dirt. Save your money and your time and avoid this place! )We visited this establishment in 4/15).

I just treated a friend to their birthday luncheon and have to say the Castle continues in top form. The weekend buffet, which allows a bit of leeway on dress code, has not gone down in quality. The chi Led crab legs, fresh fat shrimp, omelet station, eclairs and wonderful ravioli are just part of the top drawer banquet. One can go back for another playful, so be cool and don't pile the food on. The staff all act like they are on stage being considered for an award. They knock themselves out. The birthday guest gets to wear a big pin on button with their name on it. Little kids or grown adults, the de Ighted grins are the same. If requested and available, sit at the table Cary Grant used to use. His picture is on the wall next to it. You need to secure a guest Guest pass from a member or go with a member.

If you are lucky enough to visit the popular Magic Castle then I suggest you plan on a great dinner with excellent service and fantastic magic shows that will amaze you and put a smile on your face.

Thank you Gustavo for your witty sense of humor! You made our brunch all the more enjoyable. The shows never disappoint!

Warm early 1900's decor with eclectic menu. Service and food were both great. You must be the guest of a member to gain entrance to the Castle. There is a strict dress code.

We were able to visit because we stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel next door—it's generally for members and guests. The shows were awesome, you can be amazed from 5pm till late, included in the door fee. The food was good, but the dining room was noisy. I wish that there weren't a requirement to order an entree item from the menu—I'd have preferred a couple of apps. We'd probably come back, but for the entertainment aspect more than the dinner.

What an honor to be invited to such a wonderful place! I could have spent hours and hours viewing and listening to stories about the many artifacts in the Magic Castle. The magicians were top notch. While I did not dine in the formal dining room, the lighter fare that we enjoyed was exceptional. I'd definitely go back!

I love great food, magic, comedy and a reason to dress up. What's not to like? There are three seatings for dinner and about a 6 wk wait for a table they said, UNLESS you are staying at the hotel next door - in which case they WILL "get you in" if you give them enough time. I gave them 3 hours and they got us in at the 6 pm seating. I have never felt so underdressed in my black leggings, wedge heels and "dressy sweater" which should have be a "pantsuit". All I know is, beginning at the entrance check-in, I felt like I was at someone else's party, but that's just me. Once inside, I quickly felt at ease and it was a perfect evening for my daughter and me. Highly recommend but you have to stay at the hotel or know a member or another way to get in ;) Hard to explain; just dress up and go! Even black tie and gowns aren't out of place here.

We loved the shows, although I would rather not have to queue. As we ate at the Magic Castle we were given tickets to one show which had 3 magicians, this was guaranteed entrance. I encourage you to wander round as you never know where you might find someone doing magic. We both had the lamb which was lovely.

If you are invited to go here for magic, and can get a reservation for dinner...say yes. This place was great. Expensive, but fantastic. The beef Wellington, lamb chops, scallops, and short rib all were cooked perfectly and everyone was full. This is part of the magic and it deserves high praise.

I was invited by a member for dinner and entertainment. The dress code for men is suit and tie, while dress for the ladies. Valet parking at the entrance, very expedient service. The entire building is a history of Magic Arts, it brings you back in time, and the entire atmosphere is antique and mystique. The restaurant was packed, we ordered Miso Sea Bass, and the Filet MIgnon. The food was good, but, nothing to rave about. I think its expected, people go for the entertainment. There are a few different bars on location, and there are different magic theaters, as well as magician performing magic for small audience on table that are tucked away in the corners. The magical show was truly entertaining, outstanding magicians, and it was a lot of fun. I deducted one star for the food, but, the entire experience was very entertaining, and a lot of fun. So, I still give it a 5 star.

I visited the the Magic Castle for a second time, but this time for the brunch buffet on a Saturday morning. The food selection was great. Wait time for seating and waiting for food was not long. It was great to be able to take my mimosa with me on to the shows after brunch. When I visited it was Spanish week with all of the magician's being from Spain. The shows were great and exceeded my expectations. Because the Magic Castle is less crowded during Buffet hours I would consider returning during daytime over evening visits.

This is by far the best beef wellington I have ever had. If you are a foodie, go to this place. No matter what, dinner is always awesome!

The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. It is an integral part of your Magic Castle evening.

I like to think I am open minded towards people but I found the staff here rude and obnoxious especially the waiters. Am not sure if this is because this is a private members club and that is what the members expect. The waiter we were allocated gave the impression he had better things to do and at every opportunity tried to speed us up. He at one stage gave us the bill straight after the main without asking if we wanted desserts and coffees. We ate in a timely manner. I do have to admit that his manner did rub me up the wrong way to the point that it probably was obvious in my interactions with him. The only time he showed any interest was when we paid and left a tip (they have staff who clean up table who we felt important to tip. ) he then miraculously realised he had not explained to us the evenings proceedings. Never fails to surprise me the power that money has and I thought even less (if possible) because of this. The food itself we found to be very good. The magic show was entertaining. I'm surprised that they encourage the audience to drink as much as they do. Drunken hecklers do detract from the suspense of a show. A good one off experience but I think I will stick to seeing Derren Brown and the Impossible show.

Magic Castle is more than restaurant. It is a great childhood dream that comes true. They have many rooms and levels with different performances. The restaurant itself is very nice. They have great selection of vine and different options of food choice. Everything was super professional and delicious. I want come back!

I highly recommend the Magic Castle. I recently went for my birthday with 5 people, and we had a great night. Although I didn't get any special perks or badge (like some Yelpers mentioned), I still had an amazing time. We were sat right away (reservation at 8:00 pm), and service was quick. Our meals came out all at the same time so no waiting around. The food was excellent. I ordered the filet mignon which was cooked exactly how I asked, medium rare. It was juicy and you can practically cut it with a butter knife with no steak sauce needed. The magic shows were fun and entertaining. We saw a close-up and got into the Parlor of Prestidigitation. Your dinner reservations included tickets to the Palace of Mystery, which is the longest show of the night. The only complaint is the loud and obnoxious drunk people you might have to deal with. I would like the magic shows more if I didn't hear them talking during the shows. I would think that considering you pay a lot of money for the experience and you dress up, that people would have a bit more class and behave accordingly. [TIP] It does get expensive, but you can pay everything using credit cards so you don't need to bring a lot of cash except for bartender/valet tips.

It was great the shows were fantastic and food was excellent had a great time. Excellent experience.

First and foremost, I should tell you that you don't go to the Magic Castle for the food. That said...at our last visit, the food was really good! We were in the Houdini Room (so, it was a group of 12), and the menu that was prepared for us was very nice. I had steak, and it was cooked beautifully. My husband had fish, and it was cooked nicely, and seasoned well. The drinks were, well...drinks! But when they began the show in our room, they took all of our drinks and put them off to the side, and they were subsequently taken away without us being able to finish them. A whole other type of magic! The entertainment is unbeatable. From the bar magicians, to the stage show, to the up close magic, it was a fantastic evening. Our favorite, however, was the up close magic show. It was truly a mind-blowing spectacular. I was lucky enough to sit at the stage table, and I couldn't figure any of it out, even when it was just a couple of inches away. Such a treat, and such a wonderful evening! I highly recommend that you accept any invitation you get to experience this place!

Never a bad experience. Know before you go: it is not going to be an inexpensive event! There is a cover charge to get through the door, and you MUST eat dinner in the restaurant. However, you already know that you will drop some coin in there, so plan on it and you won’t be disappointed. The cuisine is outstanding and very upscale. You can cheap out and not have wine with dinner, but why?? Have a great bottle from their extensive menu and enjoy with some outstanding beef or fish dish. Once you’re done with dinner, you can roam freely through the castle visiting several small intimate auditoriums (largest room may have up to 150 guests, but the others are 10 to 60 guests. And there are various magicians in the hallways dropping card or rope tricks throughout the evening. There are no other charges required unless you want to stop in at any of the several bars located throughout the castle. Again, $9 for a glass of beer is not cheap by any means, but you are there for the experience. There is a dress code that is strictly adhered to, so make sure you visit the website to verify your attire before you go.

My spouse is a member. The Magic Castle ruined a very special night for us by having a rude, condescending group of staff members . From the Valet to the manager and everyone in between. They treat there brown owners as second class citizens. We’ve been there several times before. The food is dated but the experience has always been pleasant. However, I was appalled by the way that staff chose to respond to us today. If you value common, decent treatment of all people, I recommend that you do not waste your time here. What used to be a pleasant experience is now an embarrassing example of entitlement. This may be an “exclusive” club but they showed zero class tonight.

This place is special and an amazing experience for those looking for something unusual. The building itself is unique and filled with magic memorabilia and history. And they put on shows in mostly small rooms that rival the magic you would otherwise have to see on a Vegas stage or TV. The magic itself was amazing. Still don't know how they did some of it and I'm not easily tricked. That alone makes it worth the experience. The reason it doesn't get five stars are: 1) The food was just okay; 2) It was a lot of frustrating waiting in line for 30 minutes of magic. We had a 10:30 brunch time. You have to pay for a meal and separate entrance fee to visit and see the shows. But they crowd hundreds of people through each sitting so there is line after line, starting with just to get in from the outside, then again to pay, then again to be seated for food, then again to get your food in the buffet, then again to see any of the shows. Overall we arrived at 10:20 and left after 1pm and in that time we say one 30 minute show and were seated to eat for less than 30 minute. The rest of standing in lines. The way it works is with brunch or dinner you get a ticket for one show on the main stage, though seating is first come, first served so people line up way in advance. But there are 2 other shows that play at alternate times in smaller venues, including one for "close up" magic. But they warn there isn't close to enough capacity for the smaller shows so you need to get there early to get in. Our server for brunch kept encouraging us to eat quickly so we could make one of these smaller shows before the main show at 12:15. So we rushed our food. Then we stood in line for that show for 30 minutes and it never happened. They kept announcing it was about to start and assured people who asked that we would still have time to make the main show. Then they announced that they were having technical issues and if you kept waiting you would miss the main show. So everyone moved over to the main show line. All-together, an hour in line for one less-than-30 minute show. Though the show was great. Lots of eye candy in the building and easy to get lost, literally, as they kind of hide the entrance and exit as part of the motif.

Not just dinner and a show but a true experience, a very special place, if you are invited to go, for sure do, it is awesome.

I've been to the Magic Castle several times and it has always a fun experience. The food was a bit pricey but also good. When I last visited the Castle one needed to be a guest of a member, that policy may have however changed. The Magic Castle is well worth visiting.

We were lucky enough to get access to the Magic Castle and had dinner on a Friday night. What a great atmosphere, and the shows were amazing! Make sure you line up early, we lined up twice for one show we wanted to see and missed out both times :( managed to see a few other shows as well as some side shows from some great magicians. Thank you!

Our son treated us to a magical evening here, for Mother's Day. I loved the private club feel, professional dress attire. The mastic and interactions with the magicians are worthwhile. They have several bars ( old school feel) drinks are expensive as is dinner, but worth it. I I had the prime rib, very good . Our son had the filet, that was amazing. Dinner for 4 with no cocktails was over 300, not including tips, and prior drinks purchased. So plan on at least 500 dollar night. There's also an admission fee and valet parking fee. There are a lot of shows to see, some only 15 min. You could easily make this an 8 hour adventure

Second time here, first time with kids and so we had Saturday brunch. We all loved it. Got dressed up although it’s more casual for the brunch. Good food selection, unlimited mimosas for the adults, prime rib, salads, crab, shrimp, ravioli. You get a time allocated for the main theatre magic show and the other two are first come first served. We thought we had missed the small close up show but then they let us into another small room in the ‘cellar’ which was really cool! Our favourite show. Irma delighted, although we did test her knowledge to the limit!

Fun atmosphere. Great service. Expansive menu. High prices but mostly worth it. Will be back again soon.

If you never have visited, you're in for a treat. As long as you like magic, then you will love this place. First of all you must be "invited" by a member of the Academy of Magical Arts. However, if you ever attend a magical event of any kind, usually the magician is a member and it is easy to get an invitation. And make sure that you are aware of the fact that it is strictly for over 21 years of age. And there is a strict dress code that is enforced.....guys must have jacket and tie, and women must be in pantsuits or formal dresses. Then, be prepared to drop some coin, as there is a $20 per person cover charge. Then, you MUST dine in their restaurant. You have your choice of 2 different dining times, and the meals are great. And they vary each time you go. Kinda pricey, but in my opinion not too bad considering the entertainment you get later on. There are several larger rooms that have performances going on at several times for each one during the night. But there are also some very small rooms, as well as close up magicians in the hallways performing card, rope and coin tricks. There are several bars throughout the castle that you can get cocktails. We are not late night people anymore, but let me tell you that we usually stay till closing between 1 and 2 because there is so much going on. After paying for your meal, all of the shows and performances are free. Only thing additional would be your cocktails.

I had not been to the Magic Castle in over 10 years. The one thing I remembered, in addition to the magic, was how expensive and lousy the food was. Glad I gave it another chance. Our entire office went for a team outing in September. The service was excellent, the food was very good and the price was in line with a good steak house. All and all-a great evening out. My friends did follow this visit with a Sunday brunch and their thinking was great for brunch if you have kids--not so great if you are there with no kids.

Visited the magic castle for a Sunday dinner and shows. There is valet parking for 15 bucks. The meal was a bit on the pricy side but good. I had the prawns with corn meal for about 45 bucks. Very good. My friend had salmon for 42 bucks. He said it was good. The waitress offered garlic bread. I said okay. It was billed at 15 bucks. Total rip off. Absolute and tonic was 13 bucks. Weak. We first saw a show in the main room. Three acts. The mc was like an old carnie Barker from the board walk. I rate them seven out of ten. Also saw a mentalist/escape artist in another room. Very very good. The best. We saw a card act in a smaller room being performed by an elderly priest who is credited to have performed thousands of shows. He was greatly hyped. Unfortunately his skills are slipping. He performed some acts well but fumbled the cards in others. The big problemis that he is stuck in the fifties. He started his act with a joke about a fake Chinese name that he made fun of pronouncing. Not cool. Then he made a kosher Passover joke followed up by a joke about “Indian’ drum beating. The magic castle needs to get this guy to clean up his act or maybe it’s time to make him disappear.

I would recommend this hotel its not fancy but it has everything and more that you would want the staff are so friendly and helpful, from helping with directions to mailing your post cards nothing is to big or small they are there to help with a friendly smile. The room We stayed in was clean and accommodate 4 of us with plenty of room.

I was lucky enough to be invited to this member's only club in Los Angeles on St. Patrick's Day. Rule #1 is there are absolutely NO photos to be taken once you get inside (past the lobby). I was still using my phone but I would notice the employees looking over our shoulders to make sure we were not using it for photo taking. If you are caught they will kick you out. Valet parking is your only option and there is also an entrance fee. They are very strict about the dress code. The more you dress up the better. This was truly an unforgettable experience. I had never experienced anything like the Magic Castle before. Our dinner, drinks, bartenders, and servers were all exceptional. Be ready to spend a pretty penny on dinner and drinks. The Magic Shows were also really good. This was my first experience with Magic up close! The magic shows fill up very fast so be sure to make time for that. Overall the ambiance is wonderful. I cannot wait to go back (hopefully someday).

The restaurant at the MC was easily the best experience of our three week USA holiday. Our server (Michael) was outstanding, the food was worth travelling halfway around the world for, and the atmosphere at the club was out of this world

The Magic Castle has a great restaurant inside. It was a very busy Friday night and you need reservations. Food was great, sea bass was delicious and well prepared. We had to stay till closing, but we did get in to all the shows. All in all an amazing magical evening even though it was very crowded.

What a unique venue. If you can get in (go with a member or stay at the Magic Castle or Hollywood Hills Hotels), you will always remember your visit. There's valet parking and a cover charge/entry fee (for non-members). The restaurant is pricy but very good. Several interesting bars throughout. The magic shows we selected were not as entertaining as the prior time we visited, but the overall experience was still very good.

I had this place on my "hit list" for a father-son long weekend. After a lot of research I was left wondering how to score tickets. I did meet a magician from LA who said he could help, but then I discovered my hotel next door could get me in (Magic castle hotel). We went on a Saturday as only Saturdays and Sunday brunches minors can attend. The brunch was quite fine and pretty expensive ($100+ for 2). My mimosa service was great and we enjoyed the 2 shows we attended.

The food was actually quite good. I don't enjoy buffet-style dining, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were people tending to the food regularly, and everything I tasted was delicious. The shrimp was fresh and clean and plentiful. The desserts were very good, too.

Everyone knows about this historic and famous place , which today has an exclusive hotel adjacent, that has been the location where magic is the word..Houdini is only one of many who performed, Cary Grand was a frequent visitor, and many more celebrities over the years..come for a magic moment, a meal, an event. A show .and walk around the castle to see the unique interior decor in myriads of rooms, small theaters, bars. Valet parking for only 5$
I've Never Not Seen a Celebrity Here
First off, it's invite only so tough to score one and get to visit but if you do it's amazing! You'll start off with a full dinner in an absolutely magical setting, you truly feel like you're entering a different world. After dinner it's time to get lost, explore, pop into little rooms and see amazing magicians doing a show, out in the hall, in the basement, behind the bar, magic, magic everywhere. The drinks are strong, the magic great and I've never gone without seeing a celebrity or two.
