2 of 60 Bars & Pubs in San Francisco

We drank a lot of different beers in San Francisco, and I think my two favourites were from Magnolia. We stopped in on our last night in town, with only a couple of hours until our flight. Wish we had more time, because we would have stayed for hours. Great selection of incredible beers, exceptional food and brilliant service. Big tip: try the Weekapaug Gruit. I've never had anything like it.

A definite stop when walking around Haight Ashbury. Great beer including their cask options. The root beer is also house-made. Don't forget to try the grilled cheese sandwich with a side of fries. Worth the calories.

We stopped in for a beer and we’re surprised by the lunch menu. Jumped in and had the Ahi tuna sandwich that was over the top and Chicken club that was what my wife stated as “the best she’s EVER had”. I had to taste it and agree. Sit at the bar, the staff is friendly and conversational! Loved it!!!!

The fact that they actually have real ale here, for me, deserves 5 stars. And a really decent drop it is too! The food was less impressive but I can't really judge it on the rather lacklustre fried asparagus starter I had. But the beer - really impressive, If real cask ale is not your thing, then they have "draught" ale - where they take the cask ale, cool it down, and add carbon dioxide - thereby ruining it in my opinion. But each to their own.

Happy to have just walked in off the street and had a fabulous brunch. The steak and eggs as well as the French toast were standouts. Little loud but otherwise great!

Cut little bar named after a burlesque performer. Has all the panache of Haight-Ashbury and cool vintage records and decor on the walls. Their signature pilsner was delicious. Great place to people watch from the large windows.

We walked in for a late lunch with now prior expectations and were delighted with our meal and the experience. The andouille sausage with white beans and greens was delicious, as was the fried chicken sandwich. Our server was top notch, I only wish I remembered her name. We will go back next time we are in the area, for sure.

We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed it. Multiple beer options and all of them were great. I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was great. Will stop in again next time we are in town

On vacation for a week in San Francisco and stopped here with a couple of friends, sat outside since we had a dog with us. (A waitress brought out water for the dogs.) Since they were running an oyster menu, I had one of each of the raw oysters, which ranged in size from tiny to very small and came with mignonette sauce and what tasted like catsup but should have tasted like cocktail sauce. At $3 each, I'm not sure it was worth it. We also had the oysters wrapped in bacon on a remoulade; that was very good. My Caesar salad was fine but not remarkable. My friend had the kale salad; she said it was good. Other vegan friend had only coffee. $60 before tip. Our tattooed waiter was fine. A bit loud on the street.

I went back to this place on two extra occasions as the food is so good. Tried the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, fish and chips and chicken breast main meals. All were excellent. But the best dishes were the soups. So try one if you go. There is an excellent range of beers too. But the standout thing about the place is the staff who are so friendly. Haight Street is full of homeless people which is sad to see but this bar is a diamond in the rough.

Liked everything about this place, including the great beer list, strong menu, and location. Perfect vibe to get a feel for the locals and not too touristy. Will go back for sure.

Just popped in for a drink and missed our bus...so stayed for food. Cracking sausages although the curry one wasn’t my favourite. Fish and chips were great but no room for desert! Good beer, good wine and a table over the grate looking down on the cellar. Quirky, not fussy and would go back to try a bit more of the menu.

The Magnolia Gastropub is located on Haight Street at Masonic. It was late and I was hoping to pop into the Magnolia Gastropub to grab a bite to eat and have a beverage. I took an empty table inside near the front window. The staff observed me enter, but made no effort to approach my table for more than ten minutes and only then after I stopped a waitress for assistance. I requested a food and drink menu and I was told the kitchen was closed and that they would bring me my first beverage, but any additional drinks I would have to go to the bar to order. I ordered the California Kolsch ($4) which the waitress brought out to my table. The place did not seem welcoming, nor did they seem to appreciate for my visit. After finishing my beverage, based on the avoidance of my presence and the attitude of the waitress I decided I did not wish to spend any additional time or funds at the place. I settled my bill, gathered my items and departed. I have no desire to return or recommend a visit to this establishment.

Great service, fantastic and imaginatively name ale list. The blackened Ahi Tuna is fabulous, and the garlic chips are yum!

I am English and am fussy about beer - this place has the best beer I have ever drunk - delicatley brewed and kept very well. This pub also does excellent US style food - good burgers and other bar food. Central Haight Ashbury - one block

Great selection of beers, knowledgeable staff who are laid back and helpful, I washed the beer down with a giant meatball which was nice. Nice decor, I enjoyed sitting at the sidewalk tables.

Went to magnolia brewing company twice the first time was at request of my friends daughter it is a small corner plot The beer is of exception quality we also order some nibbles (starters) The food was was exceptional as the beer The staff pleasant polit help full . I went to the Haight Ashbury in day light to look round When in for dinner the food we ordered was of a special menu they had on simple 3 course dinner with sample beers with each course we had two waiters one was a tall happy gent that found out later was the manager The second waitress was called Molly A very pleasant young lady bubbly happy pleasant person she and the gent made our night pleasant think we where given more beer than enough and the bill was $80 about £65 for alot of quality food and drink . As we also shared the food it was delivered as six separate course and we where not rushed it was busy all the time we were there both time I can and would recommend any one who live in San Francisco or is visiting San Francisco CA to go try and enjoy this pleasant little fine It was 5 star rating experience Thank you to one and all at the Haight Ashbury California Glyn Bailey England Please keep it up as I will be back

Dropped into magnolia for a late brunch while out exploring the Haight Ashbury neighbourhood. The place was full, which is always a good sign. Interesting decor, great background music and a varied interesting menu. Fast efficient friendly service. The food was delicious, as was the coffee. I didn't try the beers but it would be worth a return visit to check them out

The Magnolia brewery in Haight Ashbury was a pleasant surprise. The staff is very friendly, the guests all are having a great time, the British style beers are quire drinkable, and the food is above average. We grazed on home made sausages, delicious cheeses, and fantastic brussel sprouts with pumpkin seeds/butternut squash. All were good.

Fries and chicharones were good bar food to eat w our beer. Saw the burgers and they looked great! Beer selection great. What we had was tasty. Wait staff kind of snooty considering its a bar w bar food, corrected us on our pronunciation of things. (U don't really want to be condescending to ur patrons!, it's beer for goodness sake!) Well lit, good menu, great beer, good backround music, good place for a dinner date, for a group gathering, or just a cold one!

While walking around Haight Ashbury we found this place for lunch. They brew their own beers and have nice American fare on the menu. The burger was moist and tasty. The steak was tender and very flavorful though they forgot my chimichurri sauce. Both entrees were a good portion so we didn't have any space for dessert.

We selected this place to start our annual holiday weekend in the City, and we were not disappointed. The ambiance is steampunk and very inviting. We eyed the menu with glee and settled on the pastrami sandwich and burger. The burger is two think patties so there's lots of flavor area and oh boy was it good! The pastrami sandwich was lean and tasty as well. they brought a homemade catsup, mustard, and mayo to accompany the sandwiches. The beer selection is well balanced with brews of various styles. We started with the cask conditioned brown and my boyfriend moved on to an IPA. The wait staff was friendly, efficient, and informative. A wonderful place!

We were drawn in by the promise of a good beer selection and the promise of eating lunch in the historic Haight Ashbury area. The beer selection did not disappoint, 2 different dark beers to chose from, we had stout of circumstance and Dark star mild. The beer was great, service friendly, ambience fun and funky. The burgers were okay, my husband had his with a friend egg, I tried the bacon cheeseburger, mine was a little undercooked. The burgers were 20.00 each (with fries) which was a little pricey, but we chose to pay that price, I was just expecting a better meal for the price. I would definitely go back for the beer and atmosphere, but probably skip the food next time.

We stopped off here for lunch while we were pittling around the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. First off, don't let the interesting smell deter you. I think that is the smell of brewing beer. My husband ordered the IPA right off, but I wanted to taste so many. I ordered a flight of 6. I liked most, but my favorite was the Kolsch. My least favorite was the gruit....it really didn't even taste like a beer to me. It wasn't bad, just not anything that I would ever want an entire glass of. We ordered an appetizer that was a date (or fig?) stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in bacon and grilled.Very rich! I know why there were only two on the plate ($6). Then we shared a pulled pork sandwich that was served with fries. It was so nice of them to split it and serve it on two plates for us. It was served with a delicious homemade tasting pickle (I'm a pickle fanatic!) and a red cabbage slaw onthe sandwich itself. Not really any "bbq" sauce in the traditional sense, but it had its own sauce that dripped off and made a great addition for the fries to be dipped in. I highly recommend a stop off here if you're looking for lunch in the haight.

We found Haight to be a mixture of the dowdy, exotic, decrepit, smart, cheap, expensive and downright comedic all in a small area. The fabric of the magnolia is scruffy - look up at the ceiling - but the spirit of the place is great. We each had a locally brewed beer which was great. My wife had the fish and chips and I had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent and set us up for a long afternoon at the golden gate park. The service was ok but not overly attentive which was fine with us as we were left to enjoy our lunch. If you're in the area it's definitely worth calling in.

Good Brews And amazing "Queso Dip" and 'Magnolia Fries' to eat with them. Dipping fries in queso was a good choice too.

My friends and I stumbled upon this place by accident while exploring the groovy Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The place was packed (usually a good sign!) and we were seated outside. The service was attentive and friendly, and the waitress had great beer suggestions for us (Magnolia brews most of its own beer!). I don't remember which of their beers we had but they were all delicious and I would highly recommend trying at least one! The menu is limited but creative and delicious. I had fish and chips - by far the best fish and chips I've ever had! My friends loved their burgers and we all left very pleased with our meal. Highly recommend!

Very good selection of beers and food - liked the waiting list on the door so you could see how long it would be before you got a table. Very laid back atmosphere for both drinking and eating.

The beer was SO good!! My husband and I both got a different brew and both were just incredible. The Saison de Lily was just incredible and 8.2% alc. I got an arugula salad was that was also great. The service was very good also! Wish we lived closer so we could return!

We enjoyed lunch at this pub overlooking Haight St. Good music playing in the background while you enjoy your house brewed beer. My wife enjoyed the smoke pastrami sandwich while I enjoyed the spicy lamb sausage with puréed potatoes. Good place to enjoy lunch before strolling over to Golden Gate park.

Stopped by for lunch while touring the neighborhood. Great burger, good local brew and my wife said the vegan sandwich was delicious. Very old bar room with a nice neighborhood vibe.

We had lunch and beer at Magnolia on a Friday. Staff were friendly and attentive despite being very busy. We had the small meat platter which was delicious. My husband very much enjoyed the beer selection. An interesting and vibrant place to eat or drink.

After delicious burgers, steak and eggs, a variety of sausages, IPAs (June of 66 IPA and Guava Monster), and a native Sable Stout,we ended with the yummy warm beignets! Highly recommend!

Visited early one evening for something to eat and to sample some of their own beers. Impressed with the general ambience of the place and the availability of Cask ales (5 Cask bers and 12 others "on tap"). Food was good quality, and given it's location, the background music playing - from the late 1960's/early '70's - was very appropriate. Pub easily reached from the City Centre on bus route 6

Cool vibe and not too touristy. Staff was great and they had some really unique beers. I like some and others not so much, but huge points for creativity.

This was one of our stops on a brew tour. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and people watching while learning a little about the place and drinking some beer. My favorite was the Kolsch. We didn't eat anything but I'd definitely stop by again to try it out.

This place is in the heart of Haight/Ashbury. It has indoor and outdoor seating. Casual and friendly. They offer many craft and IPA beers. Menu is limited to a few entrees and several options for a charcuterie/cheese platter. The burger was amazing! Moist, flavorful sauce, homemade pickles and a sweet bacon, topped with a fresh, soft bun. Wow! The fish and chips were good, it seemed the oil needed to be changed maybe? Great experience, definitely get the burger!

This place is CLOSED for a remodel. CLOSED - Their website does not mention this. I traveled to the Haight to eat here - CLOSED

We visited the Gastropub with friends and had a lovely meal and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere and tasted a few different beers. However the service was appalling!! Truly! My husband’s meal was served 25 minutes before the rest of our meals were served. He felt embarrassed to be eating it but as the sausage plate was hot he really couldn’t wait. Then one of the main meals never arrived. The waiter said he didn’t hear my friend’s order but surely 101 of being a waiter is to make sure the number of meals equals the number of diners at the table. There was no real apology either. The waiter even came back and asked if we enjoyed our meals and service. I was incredulous. He seemed completely off with the fairies. Fortunately the meals were large and I shared my chicken with my friend. Otherwise the meals were all delicious. The atmosphere is vibrant and a fun place to visit. However it’s hard to rate a place highly when they don’t deliver basic service.

A great microbrew on the corner of Haight and Masonic, they have a good little menu and offer multiple brews on tap. Had the Kolsh and a yummy chicken burger, set me up good for the afternoon. Gotta check it out.

We stopped in at Magnolia for lunch during a Haight/Ashbury break from the hop-on-hop-off bus tour and pigged out!! It was delicious! Only the two of us but we managed to just about devour the best part of our order of beer steamed mussels, small board (country ham, goat cheese and harissa sausage) and a grilled romaine salad. Magnolia gives off a great vibe, we were inside but there are some tables outside also. Our waitress was really helpful and very efficient, and I really enjoyed the kalifornia kolsch she recommended. A top spot to cure the hunger pangs and quench the thirst when you're exploring the Haight!!

I likes this brewery very much. They have a good selection of very tasty beers and the staff is wonderful. My only complaint is that the food portions are seriously small for the price of them. The food was good but definitely not enough on the plate! Increase the portion or lower the price. Otherwise, great place to go!

I first visited Magnolia for brunch with my daughters in 2014. I had such fond Memories, I was excited to return with my husband and son. Unfortunately, the experience was not the same. None of us enjoyed our meal. The Restaurant didn't feel clean. If you're even close to a germ-a-fob, this is not the place for you. The Unisex bathrooms are only separated from the dining room and kitchen by curtains. This is the first time Trip Advisor steered me wrong as the restaurant was fairly well.

We stopped here for lunch and that was a lucky find for us as we had a delicious meal and excellent beers. I had black bean soup with sour cream, bacon and chives and a taster board of 6 craft beers which I chose from an interesting list. Each one I tasted, I put to one side to enjoy later as it was my favourite. So I ended up with six favourites. Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Good food and selection of beers. Friendly staff. Children (11 and 14) also enjoyed it. Recommended if in the Ashbury Heights

I've been here for a quieter casual meal in the early evening and also on a lively Saturday night. The food is reliably good and the service is very friendly and accommodating. It's jam packed on a Saturday night with a younger crowd. They also have outdoor seating in addition to a sizable indoor space. Just a couple blocks from the panhandle of Golden Gate Park and just a few blocks from the actual intersection of Haight and Ashbury. The Grateful Dead house remains just a few blocks away as well.

We went here on the recommendation of the air bnb owner. Its great! The menu was good price good food and local beer superb. We enjoyed the friendly engaging service. Tuesday is half price pints and you can get samplers to choose your favorite beer.

We wanted a place to hang out on the evening of January 1! Who would be open, right? Well, we lucked out and found this neighborhood pub that had a wide selection of beer, salads, sandwiches, soup, fish and chips etc! We definitely enjoyed the food and ambiance. Came with Great service too! Hopefully this sets the tone for the rest of 2019. Lucking out in finding these kinds of establishments with Good Friends paired with Good Food and drinks that makes for Happy Times!!

Amazing selection of locally brewed beer, with a full range so you'll certainly find your style. Great food, great sausages, great starters... And the staff are as nice as their food & beer!

Found this place while reviewing brew pubs ahead of a trip from England. It exceeded all expectations. What a great relaxed place. Great beer, friendly staff and clientele. We will definitely be here a lot next time we visit SF

We visited the weekend of Nov. 11. The Shepherd's pie was vegetarian, was hearty and tasted great. The Brussels Sprouts were also very flavorful. Fish and Chips was a typical fish and chips. Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The atmosphere was enjoyable. It was crowded but we did not have to wait to be seated, mostly small groups of adults. The beer was enjoyed by everyone in our group.

Awesome place to grab a bite on Haight Street! It’s a place beer lovers and even non-beer drinkers will enjoy. It also has ample options for vegetarians. We went for lunch, so we didn’t see the full menu, but it still had plenty of options. We tried the fish and chips, homemade sausage plate, grilled cheese, Caesar salad, and fried asparagus dishes. Everything was outstanding. Our teenage son said their fries were the best he’s ever had, and after trying them, I agree that they are outstanding. For drinks, they have their own beers on tap (about 10 options which were very good!), wine, and a few bottled soda options. No other soft drinks, juice or cocktails. They also provided ample cold bottles of tap water for the table. Canned beer is also available for takeout. As a beer aficionado, I was very pleased with the quality of the draft beers! It has a hip and eclectic music playlist, varying from modern music to classic soul. The service is very helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit the next time you visit Haight Ashbury or are in the area!

My husband and I sought out The Magnolia, during a brief visit to San Francisco, whilst spending an afternoon on Haight Street so he could pursue his 2 loves - record shops and craft beer. We stopped off in The Magnolia earlier in the afternoon and my husband tried one of their beers and then, because it was so good, we went in for a 2nd time around 5.30pm and he tried another beer. He said both were excellent. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a "proper pub" (being British, these are our speciality. American bars are usually very different) and we went there on a wet Friday afternoon. We really liked the decor; very trad pub, atmospheric, simple and trendy. The place was pretty busy, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the clientele an interesting mix of the quirky characters typical of the district and beer loving tourists like ourselves. We had a great time at The Magnolia and would thoroughly recommend it for beer lovers. The food being served looked good too.

Went to this microbrewery in San Francisco. A little quirky and i was definitely the oldest person there. The beers were great. We had a couple of cheese plates which went down a treat.

After a day spent exploring the Haight Ashbury precinct we stumbled across the Magnolia and were very happy to do so! It was packed full of happy punters so we had a wait of around 10-15 minutes to be seated. The staff were friendly and attentive despite the venue being at capacity. We sampled a number of the craft beers, matched bites (cheeses, cured meats with pickled sides and plenty of bread, mini beef Wellington etc) and the roast chicken dish which was excellent. The vibe was buzzy and convivial and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommended as a place to spend a couple of comfortable hours in this interesting area full of vintage stores and more.

Didn't eat, only stopped for a beer. A good selection of craft beers on offer. It was "Belgian beer month". Hostess was very friendly and helpful, as was bartender. They directed us to an IPA (Proving Ground) which was not subtle, a little hop-forward, but tasty. A comfortable and welcoming stop for a tourist break!

I was expecting a bit of a dingy pub with a load of down and outs hanging around however what we found was a lovely, trendy brewpub with a great selection of beers which they apparently brew on site. It was lovely to sit in the sun outside enjoying a pint & watching the antics of some of he eccentric locals. Highly recommend.

Central to the thriving area of Haight, Magnolia is a great spot to eat drink and people watch..We visited here in August, with 9 of us, we had a varied selection of the menu and tried several beers !! I have to say they were all good, the service was good and of course this is SF so it wasn't cheap..Whilst I can't say it represented Value for Money, I felt I had a good meal and was worth the visit. If your in the Haight area please do pop in !!!

Good beer and food. The English Bitter was spot on. The Mediterranean flat bread was delicious. Would definitely go back.

I travel to San Francisco several times a year to visit my daughter, who lives just a few blocks from Magnolia. When I arrive, we usually head straight there for some tasty beer and good sandwiches. We now joke about booking the "Magnolia flight" to make sure I get to SF for lunch, and it's a fine tradition. Have enjoyed some outstanding new brews there. Located in heavily touristy Haight Ashbury, Magnolia does a good job in catering to those who live nearby.

After our pilgrimage to Haight-Ashbury, there seemed nowhere decent to eat. Then we spotted this pub. Friendly staff, varied menu, and a excellent beer selection makes this the place to have lunch.

Lively and packed even on a windy, rainy day. Even so, we were seated and served quickly. The menu, while relatively small, offered unique choices (everything we tried was great). As you would expect from a craft brewery, the beverage selections were wide-ranging and varied. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

This was our second visit to this Magnolia location, but our first time for food as well as beer. I was initially attracted to this place by their offering of cask-conditioned ales. They did not disappoint. They offer between two and four beers on the engine at any given time and all I've tried have been great. They were out of the IPA on this visit, which was somewhat disappointing. For food, I had the British Banger, which was excellent, and the fries, which I've enjoyed both times I've ordered them. My wife had a Magnolia burger, which she enthusiastically proclaimed one of the best burgers she'd ever had. Her side salad was more to my taste than hers (mixed field greens). The prices are somewhat expensive ($16 burger), but this is San Francisco, after all. Service was efficient, but perfunctory. Net: my go-to spot for cask ales in San Francisco.

...after all these years. Still pushing kalifornia kolsch, proving ground and steamed mussels. While others of the era fade away, these guys still provide tasty food in a friendly environment.

The food is tasty pub food with generous portions with quality local ingredients. The beers are a mix of the old (west coast magnolia beers of 15 years ago with in your face IPAs) with high quality more modern blends that are actually drinkable and very internationally competitive. Their bitter remains outstanding. They have real ale on cask. Well worth seeking out. I think that their takeover has improved the range and quality/ inventiveness of their beers. Still a great restaurant. For locals and tourists. Can be busy, but grab a beer, stand in line and wait. Greal local ambiance.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying a beer (or two) in many cities and countries around the world. I'm a big fan of cask or "real" ales. Of all the places I've been, this one is the BEST. The people, the beer, the food. The best. A must-visit for every beer lover. My dream is to one day meet the genius(es) who brew the ales here. Mad skills. Would they ever consider opening a satellite in Wisconsin? I sure hope so!

I loved my visit to this restaurant. The service is excellent and attentive. The atmosphere is pleasant and the prices are affordable. If you like healthy food, I recommend the hippie bowl which was really delicious.

The place looks welcoming with seats outside, and the staff were very friendly in a genuine way. Both beers I tried were nice, and I know my beers. Didn't eat but the small plates the folks next to me ordered looked excellent. I'd be here often if I lived nearby.

Looked at the place as we walked past for a couple of days, and umm'd and ahh'd about it, and finally went in for dinner on our final night in San Francisco - and I'm so glad we did. The beer was excellent - managed to try about half of them, and not one disappointment. The service was excellent. We were seated promptly, and our server was affable and knowledgeble, without ever hovering or being pushy. And the food was above and beyond my expectations. Trout was beautiful, the bread pudding generous and rich, and the sausages flavoursome and hearty. So often places with micro-breweries attached let themselves down in one aspect - either sacrificing the quality I beer for food, or vice versa. Not here. Quality across the board. I highly recommend coming here if you're around Haight Ashbury.

If you find yourself in the place where you should wear flowers in your hair and find yourself hankering for a brew be sure to stop at the Magnolia Brewing Company on Haight. One block down for "the" intersection. Friendly servers, and delicious selection of brews. I had one of the many IPA's and the spicy lamb sausage. The cask brew was a new experience for me, less bubbles and a bit warmer. The brew stood up to the spicy food.

I just had a few beers here in the afternoon after a very long walk in San Francisco. It was pretty warm and sunny and took a seat outside, watching life goes by on Haight Street. Tried a few of their hazy ipa's (NEIPA) and love them both.

A quintessential trendy SF brew pub. Appropriate grunge with tattooed staff and dated decor. Great burgers and beers. This is a locals venue. Millennial crowd.

Noisy and crowded, booths have bare wood seats and high, claustrophobic backs. But the fine beer is brewed there and the food is fresh, hearty and generous. You can fit in even if you’re a tourist and not a kid.

Simple, the best gastropub experience ever! I definitely recommend this place! There is no regret ! Go for it!

Sorry, i had the worst wings of my life. The burger we had was ok. The cesar salad was boring. Not worth the money at all. Service was friendly.

After spending a week in SF we decided to come here for our last dinner in SF. Being German we enjoy good beer- we weren't disappointed. The Burger we had was absolutely amazing. Great to see that in a country that is not necessarily known for quality of beer places like this exist. Our waitress was friendly and actually knew what she was talking about. We will definetly be back next time we visit SF. Well worth the trip! Thank you!

I was very impressed with Magnolia's food and beer. They offered tasters of their beer so you can pick your perfect pint. The cask conditioned ales were amazing. I had the rainbow trout and was very happy with my choice. I wish I lived in San Francisco so I could go here all the time.

quick stop. Beer was reasonably priced. we sat outside. Had to go inside to get served. Nice sized menu

My husband and I had lunch here while we were strolling around the Haight district. We had considered stopping at other places in the area, but are so glad to have ended up here. We started our meal with the Devils on Horseback appetizer. Believe me, there is absolutely nothing wrong in the flavor department with goat cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about those delicious bites. Perfect nibbles to accompany the excellent brews here. As a main entrée, I had the Kale Salad and my husband had the Magnolia Pub Burger. Both were out of this world. Can't remember which beers we had, but believe me, we enjoyed every last sip! Service was just right. Atmosphere was inviting. Food was fantastic. Next time you visit this neighborhood, be sure to stop in for a bite and a brew.

Adam and his teammates are spot on in their customer service. The brews are wonderful and the fool is of the highest quality. I have never regretted a visit.

First off let's talk beer, the Proving Ground is a fantastic IPA. Sits at about 7%,its hoppy without being over the top. They have a great wine menu to back up the beer. The chicken wings are everything you could ask for, the .. This is a must visit

This was a young people's place and we are NOT. That being said, it had an exciting energy. In the background, they played songs from the height of Haight, but the talking was so loud, one could hardly hear the music. Well, it was reassuring to know that the beat of humanity goes on, and the energy is still alive and well. Our food was very good. We both had cochinita pibil tacos which were excellent small plates.

I went there with friends on a Tuesday early afternoon. Very friendly & considerate staff. The vinegar & salt popcorn was amazing. Good beer. Above all, very affordable.

We dined here on recommendation from our walking tour guide. It was a perfect choice. Large windows allowed us to watch the passing parade, and the food was superb. Friendly servers, cool decor and ambiance. If I lived here, I'd be a regular.

I happened in following an event at “Bound Together,” the anarchist bookshop across the street. Events at anarchist bookshops are prone to make one need a drink. This event was no exception. As soon as I crossed the threshold of Magnolia, I thought “this feels real.” A good buzz, a full but not overfull house, a cheerful noise level: bustle, not anarchy. I sat at the bar overlooking the beer taps and semi-open kitchen. The moderately tattooed barmaid (tattoos are a sine qua non of all waitstaff in San Francisco these days) cheerfully gave me three tasters to help answer the question “What is your least hoppy beer🍺?” All three were delicious, but, forced to choose, I went with the Red beer. Perfect with the snack of pork rilletes and pickled vegetables I’d ordered. I don’t live in San Francisco, and so I doubt I will ever visit Magnolia again. But if I did live nearby, I imagine I’d be very happy to make Magnolia my “local.”

In obviously a really busy area, this place stands out. Good atmosphere from the moment you walk in and from there nothing disappoints. Def check it out and stay a while.

We sampled several beers from the list. They had a fun mix of traditional brews (IPAs) and some wild stuff I have never seen (Cucumber Lemon Lager). Staff were friendly and helpful and very open to chatting. It wasn't busy early when we arrived so we were able to sample and have some good eats, too! Easy to reach via public bus and a great neighborhood to walk around

A large selection of crafts beers on tap and delicious burgers grilled perfectly. An ideal place to stop on a walk through Haight-Ashbury.

This restaurant made for a great lunch. We ate outside, and the way the staff handle the outdoor seating is very smart. You order by scanning a QR code with your phone and can pay at your leisure, meaning you don’t have to wait. You’re able to flag down a server if you need something, and you’re also welcome to step inside yourself if you need water. I wouldn’t recommend sitting outside if it’s chilly or windy. I ordered the fish and chips and found it to be very tasty, and not too greasy or oily. The cheeseburger was also very good. The quinoa bowl was fantastic, and the chicken club was excellent as well. The hazy IPA was also excellent for anyone looking for a drink.

Fabulous beers, try the Misty Bay, really delicious. Staff are fantastic, friendly without being intrusive. Food is really great, I had the sausage board, my wife had the seared ahi burger, both were delicious. We make it a point to visit whenever we are in SF.

At the bar of this brewing company we had Kalifornia Kolsch with grilled artichokes. Terrific way to stop after walking up and down Haight Street. Stop by and relax. Try the artichokes that are not easy to eat, but it's fun. The beer is excellent.

Went for dinner with wife. Good burger but comes w/o a real side. The pot pie tasted like a frozen job (at least the veggies inside). Wife ordered a Kolsh which comes in the typical kolsh tiny glass (4$). Problem is they never stopped by to ask if she wanted to refill. And that glass goes fast. So you eat your frozen food and get no drink. I had a good IPA, with the burger it was worth 3 stars. Just add fries for an extra star.

A small and super hip gastropub. The beer selection was varied and interesting. The food was pretty great. Pro tip - a very small place, be prepared to wait. I especially enjoyed sitting in their small patio area, you can enjoy the sites of the neighborhood.

great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and very good food. a nice selection of draft beers, and the staff knows how to recommend the right one for you. the only thing i would change is the way the menu is graphically designed - the main part of it is kind of unclear (at least to me). the entire menu is drafted on a single sheet pf paper, and it too me some time to understand what is what in it. i think its a bit over designed (if there is such a term at all)... not on the cheap side, but not an expensive one too.

Great little place in an interesting area of San Fransisco. Fabulous ales on tap and excellent meals. Loved the quirkiness and atmosphere here, would definitely return.
Great Pub
Popped in on New Year's Eve after a walk through the park. Lovely pub, great beer brewed on site (though my wife wasn't so sure....she prefers beer with no taste).....
