Have been here many times and happy to keep returning as well as recommending to anyone looking for a true Indian taste. The restaurant has a very authentic Gujarati thali feel, similar to what one would get in India. The food is great tasting, even allowing for a "mild" variation for those wanting to avoid too much spice. Every dish from the dhokla to the puris to the jalebis is worth the trip on its own.

We visited this on Sunday afternoon. Lunch or what they call thali was good kept us reminding of some of the Mumbai thalis where hot chapatis and puris r served. They have lot of discipline about what to serve when to gv hand wash. Actually it is given to all the members of the table. Sweet dishes at least 2/3 r served this time it was halwa and basundi. Dhokla dalbati r usual. Even though little costly worth trying

Went with family for weekend lunch Thali. The staff was good and welcoming but food was horrible. Everything was smelly and barely eatable. Plus it is expensive restaurant. I would never go again to this place.

This is my first weekend in Houston in this trip, the food at Maharaja Bhog is excellent and ambience is awesome. All was good, until the gentleman getting the food packed for me shouted for no valid reason. Probably due to weekend work pressure.. but I will eat there again coz food is good.

Feel rushed by the waiters some dishes were good expensive for the type of food Restrooms need upgrading Check if service charge will be included of 20% Administration friendly

If you are in Houston, TX and crave for Indian food as I do, then this place is definitely for you. The ambiance, the service and food is all amazing. The best part is that they have maintained the taste exactly the same as in Indian outlets. The only difference is you will find a mexican, or some other national personnel coming and serving you food saying, "Sir Kachori" or Sir Khaman" etc...LoL. But I would say that too adds to the fun element and brings a gentle smile to my face thinking about how cultures across the world blends, when it comes to food. They also have different menus for different days of the week as they have in India. All in all, a nice place to be, if you are looking for a typical Indian thali in a foreign country. Cheers !!

This place deserves an A+ in all categories. The owners are so friendly you feel like you are family. I could not eat any food with chillies for a while and they offered to make food with no chillies at all. Also catered for 110 people. The food quality was still the same.

Omg, terrible food and terrible service. Couldn't understand what the hype is for. We had to wait for 40 mins to get in. The old guy managing this restaurant is so rude. And servers are in such a rush to serve you that most of the time they were spilling the food. But the most disappointing part was the food, tasteless. Stay away!

Have been eating here for quite some time and a pending feedback. Have always been impressed with the place - was better than the Dubai franchise and last week was yet another trip (part of a once a month visit that have been following for over a year). Fairly good - the quantity is impressive, wide range, one has to be a good foodie / eater to savour all the dishes.. The quality has been good.. However that was the past.. Over the years, have seen the quality dip, yes there are die hard fans, but of late have noticed one or two vegetables are always badly cooked (the recent one was the Palak and Paneer subzis). A few of the starters also are seeing a quality dip. What was the complete let down and the rating a 2 - Group of 4 - Lunch - As above, some poorly cooked dishes, the roti's also not that "off the tava"... The Paan that we ordered - clearly apparent, that this was a min of 2 days old. Ultimate let down.. In the Salad - we see a Beetle - one of those with the coloured top skins. Call the Manager.. He looks at - raises his glass, gets a tissue, picks up the beetle and walks off! No apologies, no sorry, no explanations. Drops the bill and walks off. A royal let down - I guess, MB now has reached a point, where they possibly dont care. From my side - the Once a Month is now at a minimum - Once in Six months! With a clear message to my brain - eat slowly, continiously monitor your plate...

My sister took us to Maharaja Bhog when we were visiting her in the summer, and it was a fantastic experience… I’ve never had thali in quite this fashion! The staff treat you like royalty, what with washing of your hands and refilling your thali as soon as any item is diminishing… although there is so much variety that you will hardly require any seconds. The cuisine is traditional vegetarian Gujarati and Rajhastani. First come the starters including samosas, dhoklas etc. Then come all the vegetarian gravies, with different types of daals and rotis. The Manager also made us some bajra rotis on special request, would you believe! Buttermilk lassi is great. Then come the wonderful sweets at the end. The chikoo ka halwa that they served was out of this world, I’ve never tasted anything like it! I would recommend going on a weekday for lunch, as it is less crowded, and the per-head charge is also less. Highly recommended!

I have been waiting to find an Indian place like this in Houston! A wide variety of rich flavors, great spice, fun presentation and energy in the restaurant. My new favorite place to eat in the city. If I have out-of-town guests I'm definitely taking them here. For those who don't like the food too spicy, they have funny little placards that say MILD they leave in front of your plate. Such a great time! Lots of kids here too.

Took my wife here for a relaxing dinner. Best experience and it was both our first time eating here. The wait staff is very attentive, the management explained everything to us, everyone there was very inviting. The food is very fresh and full of flavor. If you like to try new things, this is it. They do not serve meat and I am a big meat eater, but I did not miss it here. They brought us water at the start and finish of meal to wash our hands, very personal traditional service.

Whether you want to try something new or just remember an old favorite Indian dish; this is the place for you. We brought a 11 year old, 9 year old and 3 year old. All the kids happily tried the bounty. The host was nice enough to realize that my 3 year old was likely not to eat a lot and recommend we share and did not charge me for her. I thought that was nice. So if you are ready for a fun new experience; try this place. Enjoy!

I went to this place after reading about it on TR . The idea is similar to many Indian restaurants back home in India. Pay a highish price for unlimited Rajasthani /Gujarati thali. The food was good but have had better in India . The service was ok but wish some of the servers didn't look so bored serving food...the manager keeps a constant tab to make sure that everybody is getting what they need which is much appreciated! 20$ per person is a little expensive for the amount of food most people eat. Overall good place to visit maybe only when you haven't eaten anything since the day before!

Warning - If you choose to embark to Maharaja Bhog, be prepared to have all future Indian food experiences ruined by this authentic cultural experience. You will simply never look at Indian cuisine the same way again after setting foot in Maharaja Bhog! To be straight with you, I am a Michigan born but Texas raised man with very little in the way of food culture. In fact this might be only my second or so restaurant review, so something must be truly spectacular for me to get on and rate it. Maharaja Bhog simply has no rival in Houston or all of Texas. The restaurant has four or so locations in India, one location in Dubai, and Texans are so privileged to have the one and only USA location in Houston, TX. It is immediately apparent from walking through the front door that one is about to have a completely different dinning experience than the typical - the manager warmly welcomes you to your seat, a bowl is brought to you to wash your hands, and a wide assortment of dishes is brought to your table. At Maharaja Bhog, there is moment of stressful reading through a menu of unfamiliar dishes while one desperately prays they have picked something edible to eat - the entire menu selection is brought to the table! Anything you like you let the manager know and they bring you as much of it as you like - the rest you just leave untouched! I have never eaten so much in my life - everything was incredible from the food to the atmosphere to the attentive serving staff! Make sure to let the manager know it is your first time going so he can brief you in the culture and customs of proper Indian dinning! All in all for a single night, I felt I was dinning hundreds of miles away in Mumbai, India and experiencing not only incredible food and great service, but a cultural experience not often achieved in American Dinning.

if you are loking out for good gujarati thali in houston, this is the place..good jain food available too. they could be more liberal while serving sweets though. the mango ras was a little sour.

We visited Maharaja Bhog in Houston, TX for a family dinner. The restaurant had a pleasant ambience, and since there weren’t many diners, we were promptly seated. They've a fixed Thali menu, which was fine with us. However, the serving process left much to be desired. The servers began filling our plates quickly, almost robotically, like an assembly line in a factory. We felt this approach led to unnecessary food wastage, as some items they served were things we didn’t eat. It would have been much better if they had checked with us before serving each item. While the food itself was good, the experience felt impersonal and lacked the warmth of a personal touch, which would have made the meal much more enjoyable.

if you have good appetite for food and have capacity to eat toooooooo much , that is the right place for you ( Only vegetarian food ) .. lot of variety.. it is mix of Gujarati & Rajasthani food. Service is really nice and they serve you like" that you are a KING ". food Quality is excellent, being I am not so foody , so one serve was sufficient for me. anyway visited twice in one month to this place. cost wise bit on higher side for me approx USD 22 on weekend. but One is must if you are in Houston .

Authentic Rajasthani food with lots of choices. Enjoyed the food and the service was awesome. Highly recommended

If you are missing Indian food, this is the right place for you. Food is a expensive but totally worth it. Do try their 'Pan' - Indian mouth freshener after your meal.

As a committed carnivore, a vegetarian restaurant is not my first choice. However, if all veg foods were as delicious and varied as that of Maharajah Bog’s I might convert. Diners are greeted at the door and whisked through the spotless dining area to be seated at a table with stainless platters and small bowls. A server brings a beautiful pitcher with water for hand washing followed by a series of servers who put items in the central part of the plate as well as in each little bowl. The offerings change regularly but range from flavorful soups, cauliflower, peas with broccoli, tofu in a pleasing sauce, chic pea appetizer, yoghurt and cardamom dessert, an interesting sweet pudding, two types of rice, two breads (and many more options)....and the servers keep coming back as often as you wish more. Diners have a choice between spicy and regular. There are chutneys and other condiments on the table to add even more flavor. Dining here is a wonderful experience not only for the extraordinary food, but for the high level of service and friendliness.

We visited this restaurant for our family holiday dinner. Sumptious food with a lot of variety..excellent vegetarian only place. If you want to try Indian food, this feast is for you. Unlimited table side service.Unique..Come with a big appetite. Food like at weddings but spice level to suit you. Really enjoyed it.

Tasty vegetarian food here! Good variety of food and is constantly being refilled. Little wait. Walnut halwa was delicious.

We have been eating here for at least a year. Place NEVER disappoints. Fantastic flavor, service and atmosphere. We actually make it a point to visit now that we live in another city. Have yet to find a more authentic flavor anywhere. Highly recommended for any occasion. We just had lunch here, and we're already planning our next visit.

We loved the food as i am big fan of this model... this is similar to rajdhani in artesia. Will go back

Food is very tasty. They have unlimited thali system. So, go hungry. Their service is extraordinary. Servers are very attentive and friendly. They serve small warm and fresh rotis with ghee which makes you feel like you are eating in your mom's kitchen. Little expensive comparing other indian buffet at any other restaurant. But their service makes it worth paying for. Best part is its pure gujarti veg food so it doesn't make you feel heavy and lazy afterwards unlike any other indian buffet.

This is a good restaurant with nice Gujarati food. None of the food item will give you a hint that you are eating out of India. However, it is a bit pricey. I paid 90 USD for 4 persons (incl. tip). If you do not crave for gujarati food avoid this, there are plenty of other options in Houston.

Overall Value: A Quality: Consistent: A Customer Service: A+ Cleanliness: A Prices: Lunch: B Dinner: A Food Variety: Many items served based on what is prepared fresh: A

Though I had dairy intolerance they substituted the items with non-dairy items. But there was nothing much to enjoy. It’s just plain Indian food.

Excellent food. Great ambience. Huge variety of food. Really had a feast :-) And the way they take care of you was amazing.

This is the Indian Fogo de chao, it’s such a fun experience. You don’t have a menu, you sit down at your table, with your silver tray of wonders in front of you. Then the magic begins, the servers, one by one bring a different dish. They start with your appetizers, next your veggies, then the daal’s, bread, and you finish with the rice. It’s all you can eat, and I went for two maybe three rounds 😁 now, I will warn those who are sensitive to spice, it’s no joke here. I recommend lunch or an early dinner, we made the mistake of going for a late dinner. Had to have me some tums later on that night. The service was excellent, will go back for lunch. I hear weekends there’s a wait. It’s so cool that this is the only one in the states, it’s a chain from India.

Went for lunch. It is a very simple looking restaurant hyped up to offer a traditional Indian thali lunch. The food was good but did not live up to expectations. I didn’t find anything wrong per se, but the lunch was decidedly average

Always surprised how great vegetarian can be. You should not miss this Thali deluxe. Went there with business colleagues during lunch

We had had a great experience at Maharaja Bhog when I was visiting Houston in 2016 – but the experience wasn’t quite the same this time around. True, we reached a bit late for lunch; but that doesn’t mean that the staff as well the management should rush us so that they could close the restaurant for the afternoon! Their serving style was like “wash your hands quickly, eat your food quickly, wash your hands again quickly, pay your bill quickly, and then leave!” We were done in half an hour! If they’re near closing time, then they shouldn’t accept guests. The food wasn’t bad, but the experience was terribly disappointing. And at $ 20 per person, this vegetarian thali is not worth it at all.

The good gujarati food away from home. Staff is courteous although some non Indian staffs are employed, they do not understand the items but at least pronounces correctly. Full marks for food quality and service. They charges the gratuity as part of standard bill.

If you can only eat at one place in Houston, make this it! The food is unbelievable and the menu changes daily. The staff is always friendly and courteous and the owner will stop by the table to make sure everything is ok. It's definitely my favorite restaurant in town.

You get maharajas feel , it’s starts right from hand wash once you sit down, food is tasty and they keep asking if we want refills of curries , they just keep serving every item till you say no more , it’s full all the time so just be prepared Wonderful staff, thanks to all of you , I say you are the ones who keep this place rocking keep up the good work , will definitely be back again 👍👏👏

Too much rushing. Almost pushed to eat and finish promptly. Food quality average to below average compared to other Indian restaurants. Value for money very poor. The manager offered pan as if it was part of the fixed charge, but there was additional charge. Place is crowded.

The worst thalli for $30 Worst service, worst food. No yogurt only one vegetable-potato-watery Dhal

The worst Thali meals one could think of. Food quality was very very poor. Pulav was like red chilly with corn and rice. Puri was like papdi. Papad was all crushed waste. Overall taste was horrible. Service was very very poor. They through food in the plate instead of serving properly. No hygienic also. On top of that rude behavior of the management people is totally new. Overall it's waste of time and money and one need to fell starving even after paying $30 for a thali.

This was an awesome experience. Everyone was friendly and the food was really good, but be warned: it's authentic and extremely spicy. I asked for a milder version and they graciously brought me the same dishes but with less kick. I recommend it if you can handle the spice.

Great food and great service! We loved the traditional food including my 7 year old. The service was prompt and its nice to experience the Indian "mehmaannawazi"

We had visited a branch of this restaurant in Dubai and were interested to see if that quality experience had been transferred to the US. We were not disappointed and the Houston restaurant fully met our expectations. The food was excellent, the owner was friendly and happy to talk with us. Service was efficient and prompt.

If you are in Houston area, this restaurant is a must visit. All they serve is vegetarian Thali and I can vouch that they do an amazing job at doing that. The food is mainly influenced from the region of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The dishes are very homey, low on grease, perfectly seasoned and perfectly spiced. Salads, crushed papadam, appetizers, chutney's, buttermilk, 3 types of daal, 2-3 types of bread, 2-3 types of rice, 2-3 types of deserts are typically served on each thali. This place will give any meat serving place a good run for their money. The service here is incredible. All the servers are so polite and personable. They serve you with so much love, just how our family members serve us. The best way to enjoy the thali is get up early, have a light breakfast, go for a run or to a gym and then come here to devour all the food :-)

An Indian restaurant serving thali, a combination of multiple food items. The restaurant is purely vegetarian. They have a good variety of dishes as part of the thali but we were not much impressed with the quality of the food. Some of the items were good like the paneer curry, chapathi, etc. But the others were just Ok. If you are a pure vegetarian and like Indian food, I would suggest to visit it at least once when in Houston.

I had never had Thali before and it was very good. I brought a family member who is familiar with Indian food and she LOVED it and will be bringing her family on their next visit to Houston. The service was EXCELLENT and the flavors were wonderful. I will be visiting again.

I loved how it is buffet styled but the buffet comes to you. The servers are very attentive and are quick to replenish your empty plate. They had accommodations for my vegan friend and let’s just say everything was delicious! I dined in on Saturday evening with a group of 8. Because we came at different times 2/8 friends had to sit at a different table but that was fine by us. The line was out of the door about an hr and a half into the meal. The only thing that I could critique was the temperature inside. It got very warm but they had little air conditioners plugged in, however it was still hot.

Their food is exceptional. Consistently great tasting, and always have a ton of dishes to choose from. It is a place you go to when you want to eat. The folks serving the food are always approaching the table offering more food, so it is difficult to maintain a conversation. One of the best places to eat in Houston.

On a recent visit to Houston, I went to Maharaja Bhog for lunch with family on a weekend. The restaurant was quite busy but the overall process for waiting and seating was efficiently handled. We were served promptly, and the food was hot and delicious. The thali had a lot of dishes including appetizers, mains, sides and desert and it was all very flavorful (unlike some of the other mass-produced Indian buffets I have been to). Servers were very courteous and attentive. The owner himself came to our table to ensure everything was ok. Overall, a great experience – quality food, good service, and reasonably priced. We will certainly visit again the next time we are in Houston.

Second visit after a long time. The will help you wash your hands by pouring water. And collecting it in a vessel. Then you are set. Curries, sweets, dhokla and over 30 (??) dishes. Serving portion is small but you get unlimited servings. Chappati, puri, rice and Khichdi. Service is continuous and people Keep coming and asking for food. My son wanted Jalebi and they took a very long time to get it. They also have Meetha Paan for $1.5 or something like that. Place probably gets full as I saw they had a few benches outside for people to sit. Cross cultural employees- Hispanics, Pakistani Muslims... did not find a black though. Clean toilets.

Awesome Gujarati, Rajasthani Thali! One of the best places in the country! They serve only vegetarian food.

Came Houston after 1.5 years for my Official training. Last time when i was in this town we visited this restaurant and liked a lot. When I looked in google map it was not far away from my hotel so decided to go with couple of colleagues. Still awesome, so many varieties of vegetarian food with personal touch. Staffs were very friendly and many times manager came ask about food and services. My colleague liked so much even they decided to come tomorrow also. Must go place if you are in Houston.

Service was great, and food was delicious! My husband and I are not vegetarians but really enjoyed the food.

If you are in southwest of Houston area, just go for it, complete full Thali, huge variety of food and service...!!!

This place serves a thali with a range of dishes from savoury to sweet. The menu is fixed. The food is served with butter milk which goes really well with the food. There were 3 starters: samosa, dhokla and papdi chat. There were 4 veg curries, 3 dal/ kadhi. Both chapatis and bajri rotis were on offer. For rice: there was a choice of khichdi or plain rice. Dessert choices were halwa and mango juice (aam ras). The service was excellent and quick and all the food was served with a smile. There was paan to end the meal.

We had been for lunch on 7 Nov, Diwali Day. We had the Maharaja Thali. I must say the lunch was simply awesome and we had a great time. The service is very good and quick. They serve you the even before you are about to finish your food items. Staff is very polite and friendly. They are happy to serve you. Food is very tasty, just like we get in India. Basundi is highly recommended. Paneer sabji was great as well. Overall a very good experience. Will definitely visit again and again.

Grew up eating Gujarati food and haven't had it in a good 10 years! Saw this place and decided to give them a try and boy was it amazing. Felt like good old days with warm, delicious dishes, poori, roti, khichdi etc. Place is very clean and spacious and the service is great. Variety of dishes and fast service! Definitely recommend them and will be back in future.

From a Marwari owner, in a Gujarati setting and most importantly in Houston, TX hails this amazing vegetarian cuisine. Ever since we moved here I haven't had any chance to come across such array of food in the US. But that wait is over, especially if one visits on weekends to get more variety of sweets and farsan. Service was good and food seems tasty and authentic indian food. My wife and I are going to do this more frequently than ever mainly coz of excellent food and fantastic hosts.

Food was great. It was a fun dining experience. I left feeling full . Wonderful blends of flavor. I still can’t believe it was all vegetarian.

The best unlimited vegetarian thali restaurant in United States of America!!! Period This is the dream place for vegetarians. I wanted to visit this place for a long time and finally got the chance when we were visiting Austin. We were a group of four and there was 10-15 minutes wait even at 7pm. Make sure to reach on time to get the experience of your lifetime. I have heard about this style of dining before but experiencing it first hand is a total delight. The staff was greeting everyone and they were really eager to serve each and every customer. The best part for me during this experience was dal baati ( hard wheat balls) and churma. They crumble the baati in a bowl and then pour dal on top of it. This is my favorite Rajasthani dish. The second part was the jalebi. Which is one my favorite deserts. The jalebi was fresh and they were crispy. Towards the end of our meal the owner offered another round of jalebi which adds to the great customer experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is soothing and calm. It feels like a great to eat in this kind of atmosphere. Overall a great eating and customer experience and we were fan of this place from that first bite. We will be definitely be going to this place again if we are in town.

We went to Maharaja Bhog with our family friends. Four adults, two teenagers, two kids. Warmly greeted at the door. The restaurant was packed; always a good sign. The meal is sit down fixed menu style serving - which is traditional Indian. Your dinner starts wiuth washing your hands in the traditional way, after which a team of servers fill your thali or platter with a variety of vegetables, spicy and not-so-spicy curries, starters and breads. As yoiu go along, you are treated to more, and of course, refills. Attentive service. Most dishes (except Kadhi) were tasty. Our family is quite picky and discerning, and in our view, this establishment uses very high quality ingredients. An absolute delight, and pride of an Indian place. Highly Recommended.

An excellent restaurant of rajhistani Indian food. Very nice taste and traditional variety. A place to visit again

As the name suggests, you get to eat at this place like a king. The dish comes with lots of food items on the plate with speciality in food items from Rajasthan like the daal baati, churma and gatte ka subzi. The food is very tasty. They keep serving you and so you should go here with a large appetite. The kadhi khichadi is also awesome. The restaurant is clean, the ambience is nice and staff is very welcoming. It is decently priced too. Definitely recommend to try out this place.

very bad tase,we cant eat any food other then small puri. each food cast $ 28 for sunday lunch. not worth for this much evan $5.

I wanted my teen to experience this kind of buffet and variety offered to vegetarians. The place is not massive but welcoming. The attendants and servers are all very polite. It was a treat to have warm water to wash hands. The food was served immediately and servers came by many times to refill! The food was a little spicy for my teen but the variety was great. I loved it! reminded me of eating in India. I would go again but don't live in Houston!

We have eaten at numerous Indian restaurants in the Houston area and have many favorites. (We are gringos, but love Indian food!). When we were recently told about Maharaja Bhog by some Indian friends, we put it on the list of places we had to try. Today we got around to it, and my, my, my! The entire experience was first-rate: attentive service, quality of food, and my biggest criteria for ethnic food--a mostly Indian clientele. Must have something going for it! We were greeted warmly by the host, who seated us at a table already set with thali dishes. We were quickly served by a staff member with drinking water and buttermilk, then another staff helped us wash our hands (in preparation for all the finger food--Indians traditionally eat a lot of this with their fingers). Other staff came in quick succession, piling roti and puri (breads), appetizers and chutneys on our plate, filling our bowls with curries and sauces, then later returning with rice and other items. The host explained everything to us when we asked. They refilled anything we wanted as often as we wanted. To be honest, one serving of everything was more than enough, but I forced myself to have a few favorites again, just because they were so tasty. I liked everything about the experience. It is priced higher than most other area Indian restaurants, but you get real value for the money. Well worth it! If you have eaten at other Indian restaurants and enjoyed them, try this one. It will give you a different and complementary experience. We went on a Sunday for lunch, and fortunately we were there on the early side (about 12:30). Since there were only two of us, we were seated immediately. Within 15 minutes, there was a large crowd on the sidewalk in front, waiting for tables. So, come early, especially if you have a big group, or be prepared to wait (still worth it!). (I don't know if they take reservations). It is an all-vegetarian restaurant, so if you have to have meat, go elsewhere.

As the name suggest.. it's same as that. Royal look, great food, more variety. They can improve on their chappaties.. The serving guys look dull.. so if the food can be served with a smile can be more tasteful..

This place serves an unending thali of Gujarati food until you tell them to stop. You get about nine or ten items. All items were superior. They offer options like Jain and lacto-ovo vegetarian in addition to vegetarian. It is authentic Indian food. The place gets packed quickly, so it must appeal to a lot of people.

Always love it. Best and elaborate odyssey of Gujarati food with varying menu by day. It is based on thali concept (no a la carte)- sort of buffet but served at your table.

Love the food, love the experience. I like trying new things and this restaurant is unique in food and service in Houston. I have always enjoyed the meals I have here.

Anything I say here is going to be dwarfed by my wife's words: In her words: "When people ask me what do vegetarians eat, I just need to show them this. And this is just one example of the vast vegetarian variety that Indian cuisine offers. Anyways- this restaurant, Maharaja Bhog (literally "King's feast") is a fabulous place we like to come to once a year. The first time we came here it was to celebrate our decision to get married so it holds a special place in our hearts..and tummies" Strongly recommended- you will love it, well almost all of you

This is one of the best veg restaurant. Thali was very delicious with so many items. They were also offering mild menu for kids. Offered water to wash hand on table like maharaja style.

I think this is a very well done Indian 'All you can eat' place. Service is excellent, and there is plenty of food. Now why did I only give it three stars? Because I did not like most of the items on my plate. The buttermilk drink smelled bad, the 'soups' all appeared to be watery, the two fried items (appetizer+dessert) appeared overly greasy, and the lentils had the consistency of baby food. I know there is a market for this, and I wanted to like this place, but it's just not for me.

The place is not as good as it used to be. Remember to be there early, otherwise seating is an issue. In addition, the staff can be very rude and unpleasant. The number of items too have dropped after the pandemic has started.

Few restaurants take service as seriously as the variety and quality of food. Vegetarians would love this place

The food was average. The website is totally misleading. It needs to say clearly that they serve ONLTY THALIS--no a la carte whatsoever. $23+ for the thali meal is grossly overpriced, unless you have an enormous appetite. What is more--it was a Friday and we were told the thali price is $3 more because there is one additional item on the menu, on Fridays (really, I don't have a bigger appetite on Friday). Nowhere else have I seen the customer having to pay an additional $3 because they added an item on the menu.

This restaurant offers delicious food, especially it's Thalis filled with a lot of variety of vegetarian food, along with chutneys and dessert - beware any meal here does leave the stomach a bit bloated due to over-filling. But you are sure to leave here with your palate completely content!

1.Mango juice was served as ‘Aamrus’. 2.Dahiwada was made from bread! 3.We were group of 5 adults and 2 kids, were surprised to see gratuity of $30 was charged in the bill in addition to Thali charge as it was a ‘big’ group! 4. Food quality was below average compared to its price. 4.Owner was very rude. I will never recommend this restaurant. Very bad experience.

Love the presentation, hospitality, variety, quality. Makes going out of the traditional comfort zone easy, inviting, and fun.

A totally different experience of eating Indian food in USA. The delicious vegetarian food with mostly from Western India is served in unlimited Thali. Unlike other Indian buffet places we dont have to stand up in a queue to get food. Warm food is served on table with servers coming with different varieties of food. We will be definitely back here again.

Dear all TripAdvisors & Maharaja Bhog Proprietor / Manager My intention to write this review is purely to help both the client (like myself) and the restaurant in a very constructive manner. I am writing only our experience and the facts. My first impression: I had a smile on my face when I saw the ambiance and the crowd which made me glad and was ready to have a great meal. The manager asked us whether it is our first visit and when we said "yes" then he told that "You do not need to go to the food but the food will come to you and it is all you can eat". At that point, I felt very glad for the reception. Pros: 1. The owner's idea / intention to treat the client as great as possible by even making the clients to wash their hands before and after the meal 2. Vegetarian 3. Nice decor 4. North Indian Thali buffet 5. Okra was very good Cons: 1. The people who serve the food was neither happy nor polite 2. The above point made me lose my appetite more precisely made me feel shame to have chosen to eat there despite of the fact that we were hungry 3. The rice was so dried which mean not at all fresh 4. They served two types of dishes (lentil) both looked the same in color and texture but the taste meaning that one was with salt and the other with sugar 5. Lack of variety 6. Additional charge for the curd 7. I felt the waiter is the king who decides your dining experience which is really sad 8. Puris were too greasy and not puffy 9. When the waiters serve rice / pulav / kichidi it was not presentable at all which puts off the appetite Do I visit once again? Yes, may be the next time their employees learned something and treat us better :-). Do I recommend to someone else? Yes, because everyone deserve an another chance. May be an another person wants just the food and not caring about nice experience. For the restaurant: I truly appreciate the owner's intention to treat the clients in a great manner. Unfortunately, the people who work there just do not comply with their boss' intention. If you guys really treat the clients with empathy, I am sure you will gain infinitely more than what you are gaining now in terms of money, name, fame and everything. Please do not forget, every client is important and wishes to have a nice dining experience. It could be that an employee had a bad day or whatsoever but they have no right to pass it on to the client who is in no way responsible for their emotion. I feel that your restaurant has immense possibility/potential to be one of the best in Houston, if you make sure that your employees are happy and do their job at their best. To do this it is very simple, every employee should believe and feel that they are the proprietor of the place where they work then they will have complete responsibility which results in great happiness towards the clients and happier to serve them. Empathy is the only word that your employees / waiters should learn and adapt in their day to day life. You do not need to treat a client as a "King" but it is more than enough that you treat him/her as a "Human". I really hope that my review will help both the TripAdvisor and the restaurant. Best regards Emphilan

They serve very Big Indian Thali with lots of items. Its vegetarian only. Items in the thali are mix of rajasthani, gujrati & maharashtrian food. Tasteis really good and authentic

I lived in India for 16 years and it was a treat to find an authentic thali service in the US. Here, the experience is as important as the food. You are pampered from the moment you walk in until you leave. After the traditional hand-washing, the waitstaff whisks to and from filling the small bowls on your thali with delectable food. To the beginner, this can be a bit overwhelming but the managers will be happy to answer any questions. And as soon as one bowl is empty, one of the staff appears (almost as if waiting to serve you) to refill it should you desire. Eat to your heart's content--and than some! Meat eaters, with such a wide palette of flavors, textures and colors, you won't miss it. So treat yourself--experience Maharaja Bhog.

I am an ardent fan of this restaurant much before the pandemic. It’s such a sad state that most restaurants want to come back but with no assurance of quality n service. In have been to this restaurant 4th time in the recent months. Sad to say all 4 times the food menu was the same (all curries were the same no matter what day I went in) and this time they went further down with utmost poor service in addition to arrogance. We reached there on last Friday for dinner on the insistence of my daughter. Wait time was told five mins but then the guy in the front forgot is completely. Then once we dined in you can see for yourself from pics the rotis we were served. We had to call atleast 4 times to get us sweets and any refill. Waitress was rude when I told her to serve my daughter some beans curry and then asked her to serve me as she had to come to my side which she just crossed!!!( my daughter was seated diagonally opp in our table for four) The owner was there so showed her the plate as we were still waiting for food and rotis were burnt etc., Well as expected she could care less and don’t bother to apologize or course correct. This complaint was met thro a discount if $10 in our bill which we never asked for. I wrote my exp in their check and will just be returning. Oh did I say though the menu is the same everyday with so much audacity still price is same as expensive as it was .

Vegetarian restaurant, everything served in small portions in a large dish, many time food is refilled. A unique way of service. Food was average in taste nothing extraordinary.

The food was great! The restaurant has an all you can eat concept (you do not pick from a menu), they serve you several different dishes at the table and you can choose your favourite! Absolutely recommended, I am going back! :)

Visited this restaurant for lunch with my family. It is a pure vegetarian cuisine of Indian food and specifically Rajasthani. It in Karama, Dubai. The buffet costs AED 45 per person for unlimited meal. Atleast 15 varieties of delicacy including three sweet deserts. The staff are so homely and keep feeding you with great affection. The service is very fast and within 20 mins you can have a great meal. Ambience is very clean and tidy.

I love Indian food, yet I have not been to visit India yet. When I do visit, I can only hope that I find a restaurant as good as this. I went at Sunday lunch time and it was very busy, but after 10 minutes I was seated at a table and the food began to appear. The Thali was a visual spectacular, of colour and texture. And the aromas from the different dishes were amazing. I particularly liked the cauliflower, potato and paneer dishes, although everything was very good. The staff brought the different dishes to the table and filled the various bowls, then kept returning to offer more. It was a veritable feast, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent food. Love the service and the variety of food. Unlimited buffet. Definitely worth the experience, similar to what you get in Rajasthan, India..as I was I formed by family members. Simple but amazing meal. Loved their food. Will definitely go again. Just check their holiday pricing since we didn't know

Went with friends to try Maharaja Bhog as it came recommended. The menu is vegetarian and comes out Thali style. Everything is made fresh and the dishes are filled up frequently. We didn't find anything particularly spicy. The owner explained all the dishes and wanted to make sure we were happy and all our dishes were always full. Very busy restaurant and friendly staff and owner.

A dear friend of ours is Gujarati; on one of his trips back to Varodara he posted a picture of a meal he was having at a thali restaurant. I was fascinated...and sad when he said that one couldn't really find a similar place in the Atlanta area that served food from his home region of India. I was thus delighted to discover that Maharaja Bhog is in Houston, which I have been visiting for the first time this week. Was the food everything I hoped it would be? Oh yes. A good mix of great flavors, everything skillfully spiced...so tasty and satisfying. The two of us had to force ourselves to stop eating lest we explode. The saag and okra dishes were particular standouts; I don't know how I stopped at two (or was it three?) of the samosa-type appetizers; I had to have seconds on the desserts as well. (Mango doesn't always thrill me--on a bad day I don't even like it that much, possibly because American mangoes are just generally lousy--but the mango pudding here was simply outstanding.) The service was attentive and friendly as well. We were never wanting for anything, and Mr. Nick took great care to make us feel welcome, to make sure we knew everything we wanted to know about the food (what was what, what tended to be eaten together, and so forth), and to make sure we were happy. He and his whole team were great and we were well-spoiled, feeling like valued guests. The cost was awfully reasonable for what we got too. (One can easily spend big piles of money at restaurants in Houston!) I don't know that this lovely place entirely fits the intention of the "cheap eats" category on this site, but I'm tagging it as that because I think it offers outstanding value in food and service alike. We will certainly look forward to returning whenever we manage to make it back to Houston. (Odds are, we'll get to sample a whole different assortment of things then; what fun!)

For one its all you can eat. But the thali is expensive. So this place is worth visiting only when you are really really hungry. They serve dahi wada on Saturday and it is delicious. The

If you like Indian food, and even if you don't, you have to try Maharaja Bhog. It's vegan and gluten free and we didn't miss meat at all. The amazing combination of spices, variety of curries, aromas and fantastic wait staff make this a must visit often. Trust this foodie from Santa Fe and enjoy. Set menu and price. Dinner for two with tip $50.

Excellent Service, Delicious Food! If you are looking for a nice, vegetarian meal - where the service makes you feel like a "king" or "queen", well you've come to the right place. The added touch? They even ask you if you are allergic to anything and can handle dairy, nuts, tree nuts allergies as well as serve "Jain" meals. My niece likes to go on the weekends because that's when they serve "dahi-vada" - her favorite. The food is "Gujarati" style - every curry has a hint of "sweetness" to it. The "thali" style pretty much covers all aspects of a meal - the appetizer, the varieties of curries, the assortment of breads and rice and of course, dessert! The meal will cost you around $18-$20, but it's worth it. Remember to arrive hungry - that's the only way you will be able to do justice to the meal!

The worst. Unreliable. They took our dinner reservation for 10 people. When we showed up (on time), they said they are too busy to seat us, and we have got wait until everyone in the restaurant is done eating. Then why bother to take reservations in the first place?

I've never been to one of these all you can eat thali places before - but I'll definitely be back! The food was super tasty and authentic (my friend I dined with is Indian and guided me through the meal!). Great experience and adventure.

I am NOT vegetarian but this is the best Indian! It’s spicy and extremely flavorful. I look forward to every visit I have here. Amazing. Your service is impeccable and kindness is equally amazing. For anyone vegetarian or not, if you love Indian food come experience the exotic flavors.

nice premium Thali in Houston area. you will not miss your home away from home. don't forgot to visit

I've been travelling from state to state and this I by far the best thali I've had. The crowd is amazing. The people at the restaurant make you feel like back in India. Authentic taste is an understatement. It's delicious. I've been extremely delighted. Unlimited refills and even the store owner serves you. That's how humane they are. Oh did I tell you that the thali is just $18????

Even though customer service was awesome and food Taste Was fair but food was full of some kind of starch(may be) in it which makes you full My wife always take me to this place but l always come home bloated by eating 1/2 what I eat normally.

All you can eat...vegetarian Thali. Even for Indians it is a different experience. There are no menu's although they check with you if you need Mild or Spicy and keep a flag for mild against your plate if you need it mild. They offer a hand wash at the table which is quite unique. Servers are friendly and quick for refills. Dahi wada (Yogurt Vada) is apparently a weekend special and was really good. This is not a place where you go for a snack or a light meal. You go in when you are hungry and with an empty stomach. I liked the Chaz (the butter milk drink they give along with water) and the dessert was quite nice as well. $18.99 on a weekend seems to be expensive as we are not big eaters :)

This is a Gujarati restaurant with unlimited vegetarian food. Bring your appetite. One meal costs $17 for adults and $11 for kid. No menu or ordering fuss. Just sit down and eat. The food is typical gujarati food. Grauity is added automatically for 5 or more people at 18%.

If you are vegetarian and you are around Houston.you get served Thai unlimited qty and very good quality. Even the price is reasonable

Type of food - Asian (Thali) Ambience - kind of busy Taste - okay Workers - friendly Manager - Behaves rude. Thanks not okay NB: They provide nothing than Thali (Indian)

Indian friends assured me that this was very similar to Indian buffets found in India. Will have to go to India to see if that is correct, but the food was good and plentiful. Vegetarian food. Enjoyed the mango and sweet curry sauces. Very filling.

Came here with a social group who unearth affordable but tasty grub places each month around Houston (calling it Houston Food Finds!) and it was my turn to select the restaurant. I chose MB based on some basic research and don't regret it one bit! Walking into a space with tables set up with copious amounts of empty silverware was the first peculiar sign. The second was the pouring of a sour yet refreshing milky drink called Lasse. The personal hand washing was next....quite unique. Then the action began! Servers from all angles hastily filling up the many small silver pots arranged on a larger silver tray right in front of me - this was a well-rehearsed production and I didn't even order one thing! Before I could say boo! I had a tray full of food of which I could only identify a few key ingredients. The first 5 minutes was a taste-fest, the tongue experienced a mixture of sweet, sour, spicy, and mixtures of textures you would only get at an authentic Indian joint. The group was gob-smacked and soon settled into a consistent eating rhythm trying each dish until we zeroed in on the favorites. What ended up being a rather quick meal (did I say we walked in staaarving?) we each had our fill of some of the best tasting and value for money food you can get in Houston. After refusing a refill of my pots for the n'th time by the amazingly diligent service, we all looked at each other in amaze...and satisfaction. This place was going to get our repeat business, possibly a lot... For less than $25 a head, this was the best meal I have had in Houston for a long time....thanks to HFF! And MB!!

We tried this place based on a recommendation from a neighbor and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and flavorful. It has been an experience which takes you to India. We felt like a Maharaja.

I've been here a few times and every time is amazing! First, the servers will offer to "wash your hands" - warning: no soap...just water. Next, servers will bring you various dishes and will first bring the roti. Then, rice and khichidi (a dish that has consistency similar to cream of wheat) are served with ghee so you can enjoy those. There are 8 curries/vegetable dishes...chutney...a special dish of the day...and then some appetizer items. All in all, it is totally worth it!

Not usually a fan of vegetarian food, but knocked out by the variety, quality and depth of flavours! A must try.

Had husband's birthday lunch here. First visit. From hand courteous greeters upon entering, to hand washing brought to table, To very attentive waiters for refills brought to the table,This Was a very enjoyable experience, in addition to delicious the food. We have tried Thalis at different restaurants at various restaurants in Houston and this by far is one we will bring family and out of town guests to experience.

We searched for a local restaurant, selected Indian Cuisine and located this highly rated restaurant via Yelp. When we walked in the smell was very enticing and I was sure we'd made a good choice. But I was not prepared for the "experience" we had. The tables were set with silver trays, each with a number of small silver bowls of varying sizes, along with silver 'glasses'. I counted no less than 7 different servers, waiting on us, each delivering a variety of exotic dishes. We asked what they were as they were being sequentially served, but that turned out not to be necessary. Part of the experience was that a woman I believe to be the owner or Hostess visited our table just as the last of the little bowls was filled. She explained to us what each item was, and how it is traditionally eaten. For example, this bread eaten plain or dipped in these sauces, or this bread to dip or fill with the lentils, that sauce over rice, etc. They even come with an ornate picture of warm water and a catch bowl and offer you to wash your hands before and after eating. A charming custom. They also come back multiple times t offer you refills on any or all of what you had been served. You won't leave hungry! The food was beyond my expectations delicious. All this, and the entire meal was less than $40 for the two of us. Their gracious hospitality and wonderful food are not to be missed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone not familiar with Indian cuisine and willing to give it a try, as well as those intimately familiar and wanting the complete and wonderful experience of the service that was such an integral part of this meal. Thank you for your hospitality!

Best way to eat dinner with friends n family, best service with smily face ,i ate in kansar in surat but that was yuck ...but this place was awesome ....if u visiting houston never forget this place to visit...

This is a great place for food connoisseurs. Vegetarians don't miss this one . Meat lovers ..good luck. Went to dinner and also ordered thru Uber eats . If you are in the Galleria area this place is 5 miles or so and thru Uber eats food is delivered in 30 minutes. Really fast. There are atleast 15 varieties of food and they keep serving you until you say no . Assorted fresh bread or roti is the best part . Price is 17.99 for online and about 19.99 for dinner . Ambience -. 4.5 Food -5 Location - not fancy but in a strip mall -4.5 For non onion garlic eaters they have specials as well. The best part is you don't get bloated unlike other Indian Buffett places. Again a must try in Houston area.

I always love trying new foods and am a huge fan of Indian dishes. It's hard to decide what to try when you don't know the language though. The experience of having about 20 different items served to you at your table was amazing. I'm told that the exact dishes served change daily. They will always serve a variety of the same type, though -- chutneys, fried/non-fried appetizers, rice, dessert, lentil and vegetable dishes... The food was great. The service was excellent -- they were very observant on the stuff I liked and kept offering more. The staff interacted well with families with children, and were extremely patient while I tried to figure out the customs (hand washing, eating with your right hand) and words (all I really need to know is paneer - that cheese in a curry was awesome).

During a visit to Houston, had lunch at this place, after hearing about all the hype about this place over the years! Is it worth the hype? Read on! At the outset, this place is a little different from a normal lunch or buffet place. The basic concept is that they serve you a myriad of foods almost from an assembly line of waiters. People who are new can get overwhelmed by the choices. That said, it is also a nifty place to show case to non Indian friends, who might be surprised that this many vegetarian dishes even exist! We went there just as the restaurant opened, and were promptly seated. Almost immediately, the deluge of epicurean delights started. We were served what looked like Gujarathi food in a Thali... Food quality: This can be a hit or miss, as not too many indian folks would prefer a more blander/sweeter/less spicier version of food. That said, some of the desserts were outstanding, and they definitely oblige on what varieties you want a second helping of. Tip: For folks new, I would recommend the minimum quantity of each dish to get an idea, before you ask for second helpings. It also helps to go at a non peak time, so that the waiters are more patient to address your queries. All in all, definitely worth a visit at least once.

I think their claim to fame is their unlimited, some 30 + course dinner. But when you count sliced onions and chopped chilli as courses, it is easy to get to 30+. The food is definitely unlimited, and going with an empty stomach is welcome. The food quality is average at best. The service is friendly, but the place has become a bit more pricey!

One of the bestest Indian restaurant in Houston. Whenever we or our son visits Houston we make a point to visit this restaurant. The food they serve is delicious and awesome. We feel like we are eating in India. I like services rendered by their polite staff.

The ambience was good but there was a lot of chaos in the restaurant. Food was good but would not say WoW as compared to other thali experiences I have had and especially in Maharaja Bhog in Mumbai, India. The regular chapati served was cold, had to request for fresh chapatis. Found owner/managers a bit rude and unresponsive. I accidently picked up merchant copy instead of customer copy and they seem to have got worked up and asked me to return the merchant copy.

This restaurant is now on my list to visit every time I go to Houston. You must be super hungry to even try all the variety that restaurant offers. Ask for mild food if you don't like spicy food (or even for kids). Their spicy food can make you cry :).

We loved maharaja bhog in Mumbai and were delighted to find them here when we relocated to Houston! Every item in the thali is great , as good as the one in Mumbai. I went for Sunday lunch and besides the usual items like Paneer, potato, bhindi they had gujju and marwadi dishes like dal bati and sweet dal. The potato starter was excellent! For desserts there was basundi, malpua which were also very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and felt satiated at the end. It was quite crowded and we had to wait for about 15 mins to get our table. Sunday lunch thali was 19 bucks. Highly recommend this place. Will be a regular here for sure.

This place serves an Indian Thali (Platter) with an assortment of vegetables and lentils as well as a desert. You can eat as much as you want for about 20 $. The service is good and the staff are waiting for you to finish so that they can refill your bowls.

I love everything Indian. However the food at Maharaja Bhog is truly out of the world. To begin with first they bring in a huge pot to wash your hands. I really like that. When it comes to food, they serve countless dishes, it is almost impossible to taste all. It is like an Indian food tour. In dessert they served my favourite Jalebi over here. It was real juicy, crunchy and fresh.

Food may be too spicy for some people. It was delicious and the service was outstanding. I am surprised this restaurant is not located in a more fancy place but that's fine because it's already on the expensive side (around 21 with taxes for 1 person) I couldn't finish all the food and I did not have any seconds.

A friend and I visited Maharaja Bhog for the first time today for lunch. It's a very nice restaurant and we were seated promptly. Since this was our first time, we were asked if we had any food allergies and if spicy food was okay. We had no allergies and I told them spice was fine within reason. Food started appearing on our plates quickly. All of it was very good, some was just better than others. I particularly enjoyed one of the appetizers (several times), a soup, and the okra and potato dishes. I have had Thali before, but the quality here was better. There was plenty of variety, but I do not know if that varies or is the same every day. I think anyone would like most or all of the dishes we were served. Service was quick and very professional. I'll be back.

I have been to lots and lots of Indian restaurants but the authenticity that this one provides is unparalleled. This month was my second visit to this place. They are great when it comes to hospitality, service and food. Your plate is always full unless you say no to the server. Food is not spicy but still has lots of flavors. Menu is full of variety and able to satisfy all the taste buds.

From the time I entered I felt welcomed by the super friendly management and staff. Handwashing and all you can eat food brought to your table. Clean, efficient restaurant with great tasting food. A unique dining experience! A must go for all!

This is an average fare purveyed in uncomfortably warm space with a hint of indifference. The weekend prices are much higher than (30% more) than the weekday prices. They add a huge 18% gratuity (added gratuitously!) for a group of 5 or more. It is mostly Gujarati fare which was alternately spicy and sweet but what was missing in all of it was taste. Average fare overall. If you are looking for something Indian which is not the usual greasy, red North Indian items served in typical Indian restaurants across USA, you can give this a try.

Best indian food ever. Love rajasthani food and variety of items. Normal cost. Will visit again. Recommend to friends

Surprised to see good full Thali restaurant in Houston I enjoyed most items except few sweets Dal ka halwa was mix of oil and ghee They can improve on quality for sure

We went over TG weekend around 8:30pm. Restaurant was about half empty and they had plenty of waitstaff. Food: Good food and lots of variety. Menu changes day to day. Service: Some of the waitstaff was rude and we had to wait for food. Half of the food came 10-15mins after we started our meals. Rice never came.

It is like stepping into India, so gracious! The food is served in bowls constantly refilled. All are exotic and delicious, it is hard not to overeat. All vegetarian with so many variations of spices. For a trip away from Houston without going, try it if you are adventuresome. All of us liked a different dish best. A vegetarians dream, so good

We’ve heard so much about this place that we had to visit once in Houston, fantastic food, fantastic staff. The taste is amazing and can help in satisfying the Indian cravings. Must visit in Houston for vegetarians.

Lovely meal, excellent service. Very nice family restaurant. All tastes catered for. Nothing overly spicy Will definitely recommend.

I drove from Dallas to experience this Horrible experience! I seriously don't understand why this restaurant is so hyped. There was a long queue for no reason as I saw empty tables inside the restaurant. The staff and management are really bad at their services. They were literally throwing the food on the plates and table. I complained about it immediately but my concerns were ignored by the manager there. 0 rating. Let's talk about the food now! It was $5 worth of food. Very bland and did not taste good. 2 types of dal, 2 curries, 2 small roties and 2 poories and rice. by the time you experience their service, your hunger will die and end up eating nothing. For 3 people they charged $76. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT. More than 1 hour waiting for 5 min of eating. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY at Maharaja Bhoh

Visited Maharaja Bhog in Houston, Texas, mid May 2023. Food was as always expensive on Saturdays, but there was always extra food items on weekends in the past - but not anymore 😩. The extra weekend lunch rates are not justified anymore. And insult to injury, they charged us a mandatory tip of 18% on parties of 4 or more 😡. WHAT THE HECK IS THE MEANING OF A 'TIP'? A tip is given voluntarily. With a party of 6 people I paid a whopping $30 approximately as 'FORCED TIP'. Goodbye Maharaja Bhog.. Adios for now until your freakin management changes it's policy. AND I WILL SPREAD THE WORD AROUND...

The food was awesome. The quality of food and service were just superb. The proce was not too bad, very reasonable

The restaurant is easily accessible. We went on a Saturday and there was about a 45 minute wait time, once seated they serve you Unlimited Gujarati food. The menu is pretty standard with 2 to 3 vegetables, two different types of Indian bread, some appetizers, few curries and sweets. The food was tasty although I found it a bit overpriced. They go around the table multiple times asking if you need additional servings, the waiters were very friendly and sweet. We heard the owner yelling at one of the waiter and it left a bad taste, it spoilt our experience. There is no excuse for such a rude behavior. All of the waiters seem to be of Mexican origin and we’re very friendly. Overall, the food was tasty and it is worth experiencing it once-Being served food on a plate multiple times. Usually Indian food is a buffet and one has to get up and go fetch for oneself. This restaurant is a refreshing change in that food comes to you! But a restaurant experience is more than food; Probably would not be back to this restaurant under the current management because of witnessing the manager treat employees very rudely.

Went for lunch with family on a Saturday, my first time there. There was a 10 minute wait to be seated. I did not know what kind of an establishment this was, or even whether there was a menu to order from. That question soon answered itself. It was a Thali only place. Soon there was a lady with a warm water jug asking us to wash our hands, and quickly the little cups in our thali began filling up. The first thing I noticed was the waitstaff, who were numerous, milling about busily. They were quickly moving from table to take making sure the dishes they were serving weren't running low on anyone's plate. 10 or so cups on my plate were filled with curries of various flavor groups and, shortly thereafter Roti's and Pooris were served. We got Kachori's and Dhokla as a starter. Each and every dish was plain outstanding. A symphony of fresh, perfectly balanced flavors bursting in every bite. Then we moved on to the desert, which was great, but I was too full by this time to pay much attention. The only downside to this place is that this is nowhere close to where I live, and the tightness around my waist reminded me that we have to go back to living on this earth after a brief visit to gastronomic heaven. Or is that a good thing?

No menu, just experience food specially prepared by the in house chef. Tried the dholka and samosa for starters, these are good food. The rest of the meal with rice and bread served were tasty.

This restaurant servers unlimited Gujarati thali and the service is great. The menu changes frequently and the options are good. It is a bit priced (but I guess it is expected when the word premium appears in the restaurant name). Definitely worth visiting once in a while.

Quality of food has gone from good to average the menu consists of 3 types of watery dal it used to be 1 potato dish now it was 2 potato dish rotisserie were half cooked dessert was a watery milk kind of rabbit and corn halwa it used to be daal ka halwa or some other exotic dessert so in total not worth visiting this place

From the moment you walk in to Maharaja Bhog you feel welcomed not only by the employees but by the exotic aromas as well. We were allowed to choose our own seating and asked if this was our first time dining with them. Rohit was great-he walked us through the entire dining experience and made sure we were comfortable and never without any food. He explained that the menu is set daily and it is all vegetarian. All of the food was great...from the appetizers to the desserts. We will definitely be going back. I know they will not disappoint

My first experience of a thali restaurant and I loved it. Staff explain everything, lots of vegan/vege/spice level options and the food keeps on coming and coming and .....! Food is fresh and flavoursome with some hot surprises even for those used to chilli heat. Breads and pickles are a joy. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Been multiple times. Always a pleasure. Staff very attentive- sometimes a bit much, but that's the style of service. Standardized menu which is great. Always consistent food. Make sure to go when hungry bc Soo much food.

There qere cockroaches running all over our tble and when we informed the owner, he got angry and was rude and callous. The quality of food has also deteriorated. Overall it was a pathetic experience. Would have rated zero if i could

Awesome Thali and wholesome vegetarian food. Great service. Throughly enjoyed the food. Skip a meal before eating here, so one can eat a full meal.

It is a "Thali" Indian restaurant. We liked the variety (and small quantities to minimize wastage) and the authenticity of most of the dishes. Service was attentive. If I was in Houston again, I would go there again.

This review is written by an Indian who is proud of Indian cuisine and Indian hospitality but is a discerning customer. (1) If you wish to have an impersonal, rushed, assembly-line food service, you will be fine with this restaurant. (2) A Large number of average-quality items and rapid service are designed to overwhelm and feed the customer quickly. (3) Staff, nearly all Hispanic, walked around quickly, and unless you ask for a specific item, they would have moved on to the next 3 tables before you start asking for something. This is not the Indian way. The Indian way of service is much more attentive, unhurried, service to make sure the customer is extremely happy with the quality of food and service and is well fed. Here you will not go hungry but don't expect personal service. (4) Indian owners/managers are there but did not introduce themselves. They consider their job to make sure payment is collected and service staff keeps moving. (5) Jalebi was good. (6) Some people like the restaurant because a large number of items are presented until their tummy is filled for a fixed price. I rather know the name of the server, who serves me with love and attention. I rather have fewer, high-quality items. I enjoy it when the owner/manager visits me and introduces himself. That was not the experience.

Upon reading reviews, I knew I had to try this place. It did not disappoint! It's like a buffet, but the buffet comes to you! Servers bring around dishes and refill your plate if anything gets low. I did not feel strange or uncomfortable eating alone, as the manager and servers visited me frequently. The staff patiently explained what was offered, and came around at appropriate intervals to refill. Some of the curries were a bit spicier than I usually like, but that did not stop me! Everything was flavorful and tasty. Lived the little desserts too. Price is on the high end but for what you get, is worth it. I would like to go with a group and be able to sit and relax and eat. They told me offerings change daily so whenever you go you are sure to get a treat! Highly recommend, though for the sake of my wallet and waistline, I'll try to keep it as a once -or twice a year outing. Great concept, well executed!

Food: They have verity of curries and sweets. Delicious and Excellent quality food. Paan is the must at the end! They have separate Jain food as well. Service: Servers are super friendly, polite and well trained as well as quick. Handle food with caps and gloves. Good co-ordination between servers. Their manager Rohit is very polite and manages guests very well. Ask us every single time about quality of food, service or if we need anything. Ambience: Place is big enough, bright with partially visible kitchen, which is good. Value: Overpriced but this is the only place of this kind in the town. Might consider improving: The place can be little more kid friendly! Congratulations and All the best guys!

Although they are pricy on weekends, food was good. They serve hot roti with ghee which was really nice. Every thing on plate tasted nice. Specially the chat items were good. Ambience was good. They keep on eye on your plate and serve immediately anything you like or want. You can eat as much as you want. You will feel like being in India by having this food. Really good.

Just go. Slightly pricy. But, being served in a traditional Indian Thali and not having to get up to go get a refill is something everyone must enjoy. The food itself was absolutely fantastic. The refill of you plates and bowls is also great. The only thing I wish they do better justice with, is their desserts. But still don't miss the whole experience.

My friend highly rated this place, so we had to check it out for our long weekend lunch. Service was very good and they set up our table very quickly with thali plates and come to the table to have our hands washed before the meal. There were more than 15 items offered that ranged from starters to desserts in little steel bowls and kept checking with customers on any refills required. Breads - Puri and Rotis were generously offered from time to time as well. Although, I can't identify all items, they were all pretty tasty whether bitter gourd or jalebi. Just 1 star off cos the price is high....

The vegetarian thali meal served at Maharaja Bhog in Houston, TX ranges from spicy, savory, and sweet flavors from the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan in India, and offers something for everyone. The food is fresh and unlimited. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, they treat you like you are the maharaja (king). At the end of the meal I had tasted 20 different items and I was so stuffed that I had to go for a long walk :) It is an experience everyone should have!

While in Houston for a business trip we stumbled upon this jewel. Dining is a unique experience. All vegetarian and delicious! Customer service was excellent. The staff was very welcoming. When we asked where to find a Starbucks or other place for wifi, we were told to please use their restaurants wifi, and to remain at our table as long as we wanted. We were courteous and would have left had the dining tables become in demand. HIGHLY recommend!

Quality: Outstanding A+ Service: Top notch A+ Pricing: great Value A Staff: Best A+ Food: Fresh, Healthy and lot of variety A+ Owners: Very Helpful and caring A+ This restaurant deserves ***** Five Stars Thanks Jayesh and Rekha Sanghvi Family

A very different and interesting experience, worth the trip. Food is also reasonably priced and the service is superb. Food is extremely spicy though, which is not my preference.

Passed this restaurant on my way to my hotel. Decided to visit after reading a review or two here on Trip Advisor. I was greeted almost as soon as I entered and seated. The restaurant was bursting at the seams and remained busy during my time there - line out of the door. I wasn't at all familiar with the type of service provided at the restaurant prior to my visit, but the host took a few minutes out to explain what was happening around me (lol) and share recommendations. He, along with the servers remained attentive during my visit. Excellent service. Excellent food. I will be back.

Very authentic cuisine, transports you to India 🇮🇳. Unique in the city and very nice environment. Pure vegetarian Indian food!

Went there on recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed. It being a Saturday, the place was choc a block and huge waiting line but we were seated within 15 mins. The food was great, awesome food variety. The taste was authentic Indian. We found the price a bit on the higher side but was worth it. Would recommend it to all.

This is my second visit to this awesome restaurant. The taste is awesome. When cooked with love and dedication it transcends into food. The people who work here serve the meal as if you are guest at their home. An experience by itself.

The food is absolutely horrible and very low quality and preparation. There are no vegetable preparation, no delicious snacks like samosa or sweets like Gulab Jamuns. It is all based on cheap soupy dal based and to my horror, found they serve the store bought mango pulp as the sweet or desert. Horrible service and very chaotic and confusing. There are several preparations but all they are tasteless and watery and should be avoided for any price. To add the insult, the manager will offer the option of Paan which you may think complimentary but he will add to the bill. And again, be ready to pay the hefty price of tips which automatically added to the Bill. The whole joint is a disgrace to the name of indian restaurant and it should be closed for the fraud and giving the bad name to the delicious Indian Food. If you go there, Please be comfortable of loosing your money, taste, and a good time. You have been warned !!!

High quality Thali menu where you get to try a little of everything. All cravings will be satisfied!!!!! And the service is so sweet and generous you will be swept away to another time. The food is delicious and plentiful, freshly made roti, chutneys, dahls, curries... we left so full and impressed!

Had dinner on 8th July 2023 visited this restaurant witha friend and ordered thali. The vegetarian thali had about 26 items which were filled unlimited till the time you can eat. Snacks to main course to dinner including, salty, sweet, savoury, bitter, sour and many taste bud sensation will be sparkled while experiencing this meal whic is aptly named as "Maharaja Bhog" or "King's Meal" Price is USE 26.00/- per plate of unlimited food supply and is thoughtfully price. Must try.
Jalebi was good
Superb thali. Reminded me of rajdhani thali in India. Huge fan of that place. Service was great and so was the ambience. Would definitely go back again.
