Good food

By Danielle C |

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed my dinner! The paneer tikka masala was excellent 😊 I asked for it to be extra spicy, but they did not come through with the spice. I still really enjoyed the dish. My date had the lamb vindaloo.. the curry was delish too. The service was good, I will for sure be coming back.

More like GOOD. CONSISTENT. No SURPRISES.

By Bianca M |

This is a fine old Indian spot with sporadically attentive waiters, solid, consistent northern Indian dishes, You really can't go wrong here but I don't think you will be surprised or wowed. Except maybe the breads. Eat them hot out of the oven and they amaze (paneer Naan Anyone?) Don't take them home. They don't travel well.

great late night bar

By Wayne D |

This is a fun place to visit after you're broke from the other local bars, and just want to get your drink on. Loud juke box, conversations, and good prices on drinks.

Magic Sauce

By justdread |

Was escorted here by a lifelong Seattleite as it is one of his favorite classic, dark, comfort bars and was not disappointed. Like at all. Loved the mellow vibe of the bar and was helpless to fight the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen! Everything was wonderfully on point.

Would.nt fill up trays

By calmatt |

I have eaten this buffet, and the trays were mostly empty. I have been here many times, and the food is usually very good. We came in a little late for lunch (1:30), and the trays were mostly empty. I asked the attendent if they were closing soon, and he said lunch is until 3. I then asked if the trays would be refilled, and he said Yes. Half hour later, still no food, so I asked again, he asked what I wanted, and filled up only one tray.

Great indian food

The food here is very good, we eat here regularly, and if you are looking for bar drinks this is the place.

Tasty Indian Fare!

By MelindaW52 |

To begin with, our waiter was absolutely wonderful ... helping us navigate the menu to choose the dishes that would satisfy our family's different palates. I wish I would have remembered to ask his name. In any case, everyone with whom we came in contact at the restaurant was very friendly. :-) We are so happy we found this restaurant! The food was so tasty, the service great, the staff friendly. Thank you so much! :-)

Highlight of our trip!

By Cowtown2015 |

We were lucky enough to stumble across this restaurant while on our way to another one. We were starving so we started off with some papadums and Kingfisher beer. The 22oz bottles are a great deal although if we had seen the great price on a bottle of Moet we probably would have ordered that instead. Papdums were served with a delicous assortment of chutney's. Decided on the Dinner for Two with Pakora, Tandori Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and Saag Paneer. This included Naan bread, rice and dessert which we were too full for. Luckily we ordered an extra naan to pack along with the bountiful leftovers. Dinner was massive, easily enough for 4 and some of the best we have ever tasted. Ordered our curry hot and it was just right, not too outrageous. Service was very polite and efficient. Would highly recommend! The only negative was that the banquet seats were quite worn, you really sank into your seat although we seemed to forget about it once the food started arriving!

amazing new menu and cook

By Frank S |

First time in since last year. Was always good but now GREAT. My Favorite has been Naan & Curry in Renton but this new menu and cook are the BEST! Our server, Sarah, was great help in ordering off the new menu with the best sauces and flavors. She has many more recommendations and we'll be back to enjoy each one.

Excellent!

By Sonnichsen5 |

We were so thrilled to find this restaurant, as we'd been craving authentic Indian food for some time. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. I can't wait to go back the next time we're in West Seattle!

Surprisingly good

By John L |

Although we chose Maharja based on a recommendation, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the meal was. Décor is not impressive but it's the food that counts. The curries were very good and servings are ample. Give Maharaja a try. One drawback -- only street parking available.

Great Indian Food in West Seattle

By Laurel Z |

We all agree on this place, my kids and I. We love the curries, the Tikka Masala, the Garlic Nan, and the Chicken Briyani. The Mango Lassi is also a favorite. We did try the desserts and were not impressed, not likely to do that again. This restaurant also has a bar in the back, so plenty of alcohol options for those inclined.

Very good delivery service

By Sparky725 |

My husband and I tried dining in this restaurant once, but didn't care for it. We gave it another try when we decided to order food delivered to our house. To our pleasant surprise, this was great! I have only given 4 out of 5 stars because last time they delivered, they forgot our side of rice. However, the food is fantastic. I like lamb biryani and my hubby gets chicken tikka masala. We also get the raita, naan, and rice pudding on the side. SO good! A great solution to our cold, long, winter nights!

Amazing food but...

By Mickie04us |

The atmosphere was non existent when I went because no one else was in there. I only went because I had a certificate. I was really apprehensive to even eat there. The workers seemed incredibly lax, like they weren't trying to run a business. I'm ultimately glad I stayed because the food turned out the be AMAZING. I had tikka masala lamb and shrimp biryani. I was pleased with how soft the naan was. The price was a bit elevated but that was ok by me because it really was good food. But that's definitely not a place I'd sit down and eat at again. The feeling there was just too odd for me. Definitely get the carry out and call it a day.

Tasty Indian food with great cocktails too!

By 167lillet |

Consistent food and great bar in the back, make this a neighborhood gem. Service is efficient and their food is great delivered if so desired. Love the Saag Paneer, Papadum, and Tandoori Chicken. Generous lunch buffet (daily I think?)

Not much to add

By DKL317 |

When you read the 3 and 4 star reviews here, they pretty much exemplify our experience at this place. Always can find a table, decent Indian food (with some variation), portions that leave you full, unobtrusive service, and very convenient to Pioneer Square and surrounding hotels.

Bar is Fun!

By KL_Hedberg |

I wish the food was more consistent here. We need a good Indian restaurant in West Seattle. This one will do if you have a hankering, but it is rather spotty on quality and service. Back bar is a fun local spot.

Always good

By Cyndiellice |

Yup, my first try at Indian food, about one year ago. Luckily it was here, I love to go back! I am from central Washington, I visit Seattle every other week to visit my sick father. I try and make a meal here each visit. The price is fair, I adore the tandoori chicken, others like the curries. Have fun, trying to decide! The Junction is a great place to browse the shops, enjoy your visit.

good food, restaurant & lounge needs an update

good food, restaurant & lounge needs an update

Very rude staff and owner on top of poor food taste and quality

By Manik G |

Very poor food and unhygienic serving bowls..also the staff was very rude to us...please save yourself from going there.

Not much for Atmosphere, however food is great!

By Traveling4Real |

We've eaten here on many occasions and the food has always been fantastic!! I even brought one of my work colleagues, who from Indian, and he gave it a great review. The atmosphere is a bit sterile, so only go for the food and you'll be happy.

I eat here too much

By Erin H |

I've traveled all over the world (never to India though) and this is some of the best Indian food I have found outside of a Borough Market in England. Their delivery usually takes around an hour but if you are in the mood to get take-out, their hidden dive bar in the back has excellent drinks and the bartender is always great and pours a generous drink.

MaHa

By rhonda |

Fun late night place to meet friends in WS. Nice basic beer selection. And you can get a stiff drink too. Service is good. Food service runs late and is really good!

Reasonable good buffet

By calmatt |

After my last review, I revisited the buffet, but earlier this time. The food is still qiuite good, and the service is okay, not great but okay.. The selections are more limited than other Indian bujffets, but what they serve, especially the butter chicken is excellent. The only real problem with this place is that they are very slow in refilling the trays. Even though they say they are open until 3 pm, if you come after about 1, pickings will be slim.

Indian Buffet

By JoAnn M |

The food on the buffet was hot. However, there were not many vegetables. This surprised me. The curried goat was wonderful.. Everything else was very average food wise. The servers were amazing. Glasses were constantly kept filled. Dirty dishes were whisked away. They were helpful and unobtrusive. There is street parking.

Delicious Butter Chicken

By Renae C |

Our last night in Seattle we felt like Indian and this was the only place we could find open in the Pioneer Square area. It was a great choice. It was 8pm Monday night and we were the only guests but the food was delicious and great serving amounts for the price.

Great Place

By mzblueiz |

The food was excellent - I had shrimp biryani & my husband lamb vindaloo. Quite spicy - he ordered medium & was wiping sweat off him. Waiter was attentive & friendly. Drinks were potent :)

Thank heavens West Seattle has you.

By BiigD |

Excellent Indian Food. The Butter Chicken is my favorite. They deliver too. MMmmmmmm...butter chicken. Good buffet too for lunch. My only complaint is that the booths are slightly tight for those of us of greater girth.

Authentic Indian Food

By Tom S |

Authentic Indian Food close to home. Take out portions are good and the flavors are outstanding. Mixed grill, Tiki Masala.... I’m getting hungry writing this.

Very tastey and super friendly staff.

Best Indian food in Seattle !

By Brooks W |

Maharaja Indian Cuisine is the best Indian food we've encountered ! We would get on the ferry, enjoy the scrumptious lunch buffet at Maharaja, and happily get back on the ferry and go home. Food is consistently excellent, fresh, and authentic. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to Indian food lovers !

Nice find

By kevin_from_AKandCO |

I certainly wasn't blown away by this place, but I would happily eat there again. Server was friendly and attentive, and my meal was very good (though not outstanding). Clean and comfortable. Fair prices. Very good option should you find yourself exploring Pioneer Square.

Decent Food, Good Veggie Options

By tylertwoup |

Wife and I had the vegetarian dinner which included Samosas, 2 veggies entrees, naan bread, and a desert of your choosing. The food was pretty good, but nothing special. Service was pretty average as well.

A first time in a long time treat

By pepper i |

I fell in love with Indian food while living in London, but have been reluctant to try it here. My brother and I were looking for something different, a local publican recommended the Maharaja and are we glad we stopped in. We ate in the bar, because they have several tv screens and the games were on. They do have a nice restaurant area for families or if you like the quieter atmosphere. Since neither of us had any recent experience with this food type we relied on the waitress for recommendations. She recommended Shrimp Saag and Lamb Do Pyaza, with one side of rice and flat bread. WOW!! What great suggestions and more than enough food for the two of us. It was incredible, and the condiments were a great add-on, we can't say enough about the flavor and new taste experiences we had with this meal. I made sure to tip the waitress above average, for her great recommendations and I'm sure that if you try this place you'll do the same. We look forward to making this a regular stop on our visits to West Seattle. By the way, all the staff were very accommodating and good to us.

Not too exciting

By fuego2u |

I ordered this delivery. Even though Chicken Tikka is my ultimate favorite dish, it was just alright here. A bit too creamy. The Paneer was good though. They didn't leave me utensils when they delivered... so I ate like a caveman. I probably won't order this as it was a bit pricey and did not really move me in the way my favorite dish should.

SLOW!!!!!

By Desiree W |

Good thing we were on vacation and not in a hurry to get somewhere. I almost fell asleep in my booth waiting for our order to be served. Meanwhile, another couple sat down, ordered, was served, and left. When the food came out, the order was wrong. The waitress was friendly but I think she was the only one waiting on the whole restaurant.

Really good Indian food

By Krista E |

While in Seattle we had walked by this restaurant several times on the way to other restaurants and decided to try it. So glad we stopped in for dinner. Both our meals were very tasty and delicious. I highly recommend the chicken tikka and the lamb boti. Excellent service also!

An OK buffet

By syncomm1 |

Nothing out of the ordinary but a reasonable Indian buffet at an OK price. They seemed to be a little slow restocking the expensive stuff, i.e. Tandoori chicken but that was not as good as some of the veggie dishes,

Pleasant Indian Food in West Seattle

By Rainier66 |

Comfortable inside setting, but we ate outside during the West Seattle Street Fair. The restaurant was busy and limited outside seating (only during street fair) so we waited for about 25 minutes for a table. Food service was relatively quick based on the number of guests being served. This restaurant has improved over time and our meal was quite good. We had the Keema Naan (bread stuffed with minced lamb and potato), a nondescript salad (nothing extraordinary), and superb Lamb Korma (lamb pieces mildly spiced and cooked with nuts in a delicious cream sauce), Coconut Lamb (same as Korma but in coconut milk), and Aloo Gobhi (vegetarian dish of cauliflower and potato), plus basmati rice. The lamb was delightful and the sauces very tasty but not overly spicy by any means. Love the naan - quite good. Perhaps not a 5-Star restaurant but pleasant staff and excellent food.

Great food and you're guaranteed a table

By Claude P |

This is a great restaurant. We had delicious Goat Saag, wonderful garlic naan, and the best desserts - gulab jamun and a magnificent small dish of peach ice cream. Yes, also a delicious Hendrick's gin martini up with a twist for me. But we were the only customers there! Everyone else seems to prefer takeout. To me, that's a tragedy. My friends agreed it was the best Indian cuisine they have tasted in Seattle, and I could see no reason to not stay and eat there. Perhaps people are simply too rushed to even enjoy life these days?? Price for 7 dinners with drinks: $190.

Good Indian food with Home like taste

By Manoj Gangwar |

If you are looking for home like food in Seattle please do visit Maharaja once. I visited them twice during my last trip to Seattle and i must say i was happy with the welcoming nature of their staff . Food was good and affordable prices, Do try their Indian style tea :)

Great Indian Buffet in West Seattle

By Roger H |

This is a really great buffet tucked into West Seattle's "downtown" area on California Ave. Their Butter chicken and Tandoori Chicken are excellent - as at the many other dishes. The mint sauce is very tasty and goes well as a dipping sauce for the naan. If there is no available parking on the street, there is free parking behind the stores on the west side of the street. just drive around the block to the west, park, and walk through to California Ave via a hallway between the retail stores.

Just Average

By rover_733 |

I happened to stumble by this place as i was heading back from work and cravign for some Indian grill. The place was empty at 8 pm and i was the only customer. I took it to go. The food was average, prices were reasonable. nothing spectacular, but then again if you really want good Indian food, go to Mumbai!

A lot of food and flavor for the bucks.........

By rcftommay |

We sampled this restuarant on a Sunday night, and it was very quiet there. We were pleasently suprised by the quality Indian food were served. We had the dinner for two, and it was a LOT of great food; chicken Tandoori, two kinds of curry, appetizers, dessert....all for $35. Recommended.......

Nice Indian food in Pioneer Square.

By Nev K |

Service was a little slow and food was good. Not great. Lots of food for the price though. The deserts weren't good and did not taste right.

30 years later, still great

By sinza2017 |

Friends, who had lived in India, introduced us to the Maharajah in 1994. Back in west Seattle and looking for our Saturday night meal, we were very pleased that Maharajah was still going strong. We ordered the third of four stars for spicyness and enjoyed our “menu” meal for two—tandoori chicken (6 pieces), Rogan Josh, an eggplant dish (the hottest of the three), rice and gulab Jamin. We were set
with enough left over to take home for another meal! Thank you dear folks at Maharajah for a wonderful meal. Hopefully, it won’t take another 29 years to return! 😁

poor food

By sea-mike |

I was in the neighborhood and ate there. The service was ok and the atmosphere was ok. I could taste the spices sometimes individually so it seemed they were using quality ingredients. The food just did not taste good to me. I ordered twice what I could eat so I could take some home for later meal as well. I just did not feel well after eating this food. I threw away my take home. I will not eat there again. Slightly overpriced.

Good Indian food in West Seattle

By zzzster |

Looks like a hole in the wall but has decent Indian food and strong drinks. The bar is large. Never had anything that wasn't good.

Yummy and authentic

By Sara A |

What else is there to say? The garlic bread was fantastic, the curry delicious and the chia flavorful.

Best Curry!

By JebbeCobb |

Stopped in on a whim while traversing Seattle because it was next to the amazing "Delicatus" and could not have been happier! Even with a huge table next to us, we were still served in record time. The service was excellent and My travel companion and I shared an appetizer plate, lamb curry, and stuffed naan between us and still had left overs. The selection seemed excellent, although I will say that I have not eaten too much Indian food in the past, this blew anything else I've had out of the water. If you're near pikes place, or the international district, make sure to stop by.

Indian food, home & away

By RangerGreg501 |

My go-to Indian take-out for family (spices from really mild to mid-hot). Good value in serving size- usually have leftovers for lunches. Huge but repetitive menu: Sauces A,B, C, D, E, and F with chicken, lamb, shrimp, goat, or vegetarian. Few mistakes with phone orders, rare with Indian takeout. Decent conservative lunch buffet. Better buffet ar Royal India.

Authentic Indian reasonably priced

By Mary K |

We really enjoyed the appetizers at the Maharaja Restaurant. We had the sampler, which was great. We also both enjoyed the mango lassi drink. After the apps, I felt bad that we couldn't finish the dinners served. I had the lamb kabab, which was only ok, as they used ground lamb? My husband had the curry, which he thought was fair as well.

Friendly service, great food!

By Lauren F |

We make a trip to the Junction about once a month to eat here. Good portions, awesome selection. Our favorites are the tikka chicken marsala and matar paneer. The bar is good for watching a game. Big bonus: this place is pretty much always open!

Probably my favorite Indian in WS, which isn't saying much as there's only the other place in Admiral.

Tired decor, tired menu, tired staff

By Peter F |

I wasn't tired when I walked into this empty restaurant at 9pm on a rainy mid week night. I just wanted a decent meal, and it seemed as if every eatery around Pioneer Square was already closed or winding down. So- the open until 10pm appealed to me, the menu looked ok, and I sat down. Not a beer drinker, I asked as to their house wines by the glass, and they did not know what they had, but showed me a couple of dusty, half-filled generics which were probably long turned to vinegar. An extensive, authentic menu was not matched by their offerings, and after being met with "I'm sorry, sir, we do not have that item today" several times, I asked what they recommended- which was a lamb korma. It came in a metal tureen, so of course got lukewarm almost immediately, and the accompanying rice had been so long sitting and reheated that it had the appearance and texture of minute rice- each grain was split and curled up... The korma itself wasn't too bad, but bland, and the meat was mutton in my estimation- given it was fatty and chewy. No desserts- "too late, I'm afraid", and they demurred in making up a mango lhassi (a yoghourt drink). When the bill came, it was $17, for an item that was listed on the menu at $12.95- with nothing else order except plain water. Maybe it was the end of a busy day, or more likely, toward the end of a long career, and their hearts just aren't into it any more.

Best Indian Food on west coast!

By NorthernLights60826 |

We all ordered something different (Chicken tikka masala, lamb in coconut curry, vegetable curry etc.). All had distinct flavors and the service was excellent-we will return!

Excellent lunch buffet

By merkah |

We stumbled across this restaurant whilst wandering around Pioneer Square and thought we would try the buffet lunch. The food was excellent and the young waiter from Nepal very attentive and helpful. We returned again on our last day in Seattle and there was a different choice of curries which is very refreshing as often with buttets you get the same dishes every time. I can recommend the mango lassi - full of fruit and delicious.

Hostile-seeming extremely taciturn waiter straight out of Lord of the Rings. Avoid.

By Bo Abrahamsen |

Almost empty even on a Saturday night. No wonder as the waiter seemed to greet everyone by first ignoring them and then glaring at them, communicating in words of one syllable. The food was reasonable but whole experience spoiled by poor ambience. Went here because taxi driver recommended. I assume he gets the carry-out or some lunch buffet, table service worst I've encountered. No need to endure eating here.

This place made me fall in love with Indian food

By Navysis06 |

During my 2 year residence in West Seattle, this was my absolute favorite restaurant. I would come here with friends, I would order take out, and they even do delivery! I probably ate here at least once every 2 weeks and it was delicious every time. I could not get enough of their food. Everything new I tried was so good. Also, if parking is an issue which it almost always is on California Ave, there is a free parking lot behind the restaurant! Not many people know about it and it usually isn't full even on busy weekends. My favorite dishes here were the Saag Paneer, Chicken or Vegetable Korma, and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Also, if you don't do spicy (I don't), you can ask for your desired level of spiciness, which for me was not spicy! And it was still every bit as flavorful without the hotness and pain. If you do the vegetarian or regular dinner for 2, you get 3 different types of entrees to try, as well as an appetizer and 2 desserts! It's the best deal on the menu. If you have never eaten Indian before, I recommend this place as an awesome sample of it. If you love Indian food, this place will not disappoint! This was the last place it ate at before I moved from Seattle and I haven't eaten Indian food that is as good as this place since.
