Love this place. So authentic it reminds me of my time in Asia. What adds to the culinary experience is the staff. 97% of them are amazing. Casual. Friendly. Can dress up or down. Solo or groups. Must try.

All my staff enjoyed the variety offered by Malai - multi generational taste buds and some pretty wary of items offered but willing to try - sampler plate appetizers enjoyed, along with individual dishes. Peach tea - and thai margaritas were fun to enjoy - different but we like different. Server brought out mango rice pudding for a birthday treat for co worker and it was delicious - we'll be back - actually this Sunday! Each time we try a different dish - never disappointed.

Has it been two years already since Malai Kitchen became one of our favorite restaurants? Very happy to report that all is well here due to the great quality of food and their well-trained staff. My most recent visit was for lunch. I had their lunch special of the day, MeKong Noodles. Excellent. fresh ingredients and flavoring. I also had hot coffee. Waiter Hai and waitress June were very attentive. They made sure I was pleased with the food and also kept my coffee hot and fresh.

Food is good but when they are busy they slack in their service. Notice they cannot take complain well.

I enjoyed the outdoor seating. Was served sticky rice with an olive dip to start. Waitress said it was their bread and butter. It was packed in a coconut leaf and looked so cute I didn’t want to unwrap it but glad I did. Yummy! I ordered the lemongrass chicken and before I could even finish the sticky rice, it arrived. I don’t know if they were trying to rush me out because I was by myself, but since I don’t like dining alone I didn’t mind. The meal was really good. Not the best Thai I’ve ever had but very tasty. The waitress was very nice and it was just what I needed after a day of traveling. Cute shops in the area, too, and I was able to shop a little before I ate (shops close early on Sunday).

Every single time I come here it’s amazing! I just am blown away with the quality of the food! The flavor! This place is a MUST!

I was very excited to try Malai Kitchen as I live in Southeast Asia. I ordered Tom Yum and couldn't believe how terrible it was. My wife sent hers back as it wasn't even Tom Yum... Tom Yum is supposed to spicy, dark red in color, full of chili, shrimp, and mushrooms, NOT bell peppers with NO spice at all... The owner needs to serious put an add out for real Asian chefs so that he can learn how Asian food is supposed to be cooked. This is NOT Asian food at all. The large bowl should be on the children's menu and the regular bowl shouldn't even exist. The price was fine, the staff was friendly, but how can this place survive with such a terrible lack of authenticity. Spice spice spice, flavor, flavor, flavor!

The Restaurant's location is a classy neighborhood, the prices are very reasonable, considering it is an upscale place. The food is very tasty. A lot of the dishes on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan.I will recommend Drunken noodles, Yellow curry, green curry, lemon grass soup, curry crab dip.Just stay away from the desserts they are not worth trying.

First night in downtown Dallas area and decided on this place after walking around a bit. We were not disappointed. There was an appetizer special, sort of similar to lettuce wraps (sorry, forgot the name now weeks later). But nice and spicy, fresh and delicious. i tried the drunken noodles with 3/10 spice. My friend had 10/10. Really, didn't taste like much spice on either of our dishes. Even with adding some extra house sriracha. Good flavor, just not a lot of heat. Overall, very good food at reasonable prices. In the mood for Asian, I would be back!

Lovely staff and waiters. My soup was very plain and my girl friend's was nice. Most of the restaurant is very nosy. I will return when the weather is cooler and I will try outside.

I am in love! Second trip here and does not disappoint! Kaffir Collins is a great drink here and the Jalapeño Basil Margarita is excellent as well. Have not had a bad dish here - neither has anyone I am with. Drunken noodles w/beef tenderloin still my favorite! Shrimp Pad Thai very good, as is green curry chicken pot and the chicken broccoli with rice flat noodles! Seared tuna spring roll is my favorite appetizer while my husband enjoyed the Vietnamese meatballs or chicken satay more. The Vietnamese iced coffee is also a must!

This place has amazing, fresh, flavorful food. I have never been disappointed by the quality here. Service can be inconsistent, but the food is absolutely delicious.

The food is exceptional and portions generous. I've recommended this place to friends and family.Service is always consistent and very professional. Good for the business traveler or casual dining/lunch.

My daughter and I had some time to grab lunch before seeing a movie at the nearby Magnolia Theater. We like Thai & Vietnamese food so we thought we'd give Malai Kitchen a try. We were seated immediately - perhaps not surprising that we arrived before noon on a Saturday. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient throughout our visit. I ordered the Thai Tacos. This dish was well-seasoned and extremely tasty. The quantity of food, on the low side for a contemporary restaurant in America, was sufficient for me. My daughter's Shrimp Pad Thai was enough food for the whole family.

Came here with a friend while visiting Dallas. Would never have known about it otherwise, and glad for the chance to try an out-of-the way place. It was VERY busy and we had to wait about 30 minutes but could hang out at the bar and that helped. We had the appetizer sampler, which had lots of different things and all were good, and I had a veggie dish called Sweet and Sour Crispy Noodles, which I had made with tofu. It was tasty, needed sriracha to spice it up, and was a little on the greasy side. But I enjoyed it. The highlight of the meal was the coconut cream pie for dessert, which had a macaroon crust and was really tasty. That put the overall meal into a different category. Would definitely try it again.

Wow! This was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and unique. The service from Reeka was exceptional. She helped us select some excellent dishes. We had the meatball and spring rolls appetizers — YUM! Then the shrimp pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and also the drunken noodle dish. All excellent mix of ingredients and flavors. We loved the mango coconut dessert! Highly recommend it all! Their sriracha is outstanding!

I really enjoyed my visit here. I traveled to Thailand and Vietnam recently and the flavors of Malai's dishes are spot on. Definitely one of the best upscale Thai/Vietnamese restaurants I've been to in the US. If you're craving Asian cuisine with an elevated twist, be sure to check them out. Be sure to try the Khao Soi.

All the food I've had there is pretty good. The Vietnamese meatballs and chicken skewers are particularly good. If you go on a Sunday or during a weekday happy hour, you can try both for $9. This is a go to spot for me.

My friend and I ate here last night for my birthday. The wait-staff was attentive and charming. We started the evening with tuna spring rolls. The only complaint was the amount of herbs were a little overpowering for our palate but other than that, they were great. The Thai Coconut Soup was probably the best soup I have ever eaten. The broth was packed with flavor. I could have ordered a bowl and just eaten it for my entree. I had the Vermicelli Salad with Lemongrass Chicken. I was afraid it would not have the authentic Vietnamese flavor, but it did. Don't let the "garlic-lime" dressing fool you, it has fish sauce in it. Yummy! I loved that it had a higher vegetable to noodle ratio than traditional Bun dishes. My friend had Vegetable Jasmine Fried Rice with shrimp and she said it was delicious as well. The shrimp were plump and not overcooked. One drink, tea, appetizer, soup, and two entrees were reasonable for a nice relaxing dinner.

The food is just amazing here. I usually go for their fried rice or pad thai. Just an explosion of flavors. Service is fast, courteous and upbeat. Location is nice and and the restaurant is good looking.

Been looking for really good Thai for a while and looked this place up. We ordered family style and tried a variety of dishes and none disappointed. Personally had the trout entree and it was outstanding. The accompanying rice was quite unique with ground peanuts and cilantro. Service was great and quite informative. Will definitely go back again.

Went here with lunch while staying in the area over the holidays. Great service, good food and amazing dessert. I'd go back for sure.

Really mediocre and disappointing. Watered-down version of both Thai and Vietnamese. Dishes uninspired and bland. Veggies were sparse and looked frozen and reheated.

When we first arrived we were told the wait would be about 10 minutes. This became 45 minutes but we were able to wait at the bar which helped. If you don't mind the bar atmosphere, you are able to eat there which had no wait. Even with the wait, it was the best food of the trip. We had Chicken Vietnamese Soup, Iron Pot Green Curry Chicken, and the Lemongrass Chicken. All were excellent. We also treated ourselves with a few of their drinks. We shared the Singapore Slinger, Tai Tea, and Vietnamese Coffee. I would recommend any one of them. The location is good, walkable and there is free parking garage nearby.

Malai Kitchen has it all - great food, great staff, great atmosphere! The history of Malai is very interesting. The ambience is enticing. The menu is eclectic with daily offerings. The staff is well trained and accommodating. I've been here twice in one week and will most assuredly return. It's a gem in the heart of another gem - West Village. Love it!

This place has Thai food while brewing their own beer. We stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. I had the yellow curry and asked for it extra hot. In my experience most places won’t give you a dish that is really that hot unless they think you can handle it. Admittedly this dish was so hot it defeated me but the food was great. I’ll definitely just get it “hot” next time. My wife’s food was great as well. They have six beers on tap. All of them are inspired by the food they serve with essences of things like peach or ginger. I tried a few samples and enjoyed them. The beer doesn’t calm down the spicy food though so maybe finish it before your food arrives and then stick to water. The parking in this shopping area is beyond awful. It’s a series of one way streets with very limited parking and huge lines backing up traffic to get a handful of spots.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in Uptown Dallas last week. We had never heard of Malai Kitchen. After reading a number of positive reviews, we walked to the restaurant early on a Friday. We were seated immediately and requested outside, which was granted. Masks were worn by the staff and customers who were not seated. We felt safe outside and the tables were spaced far enough apart for us to remain that way. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife and I tried 4 restaurants while we were in Dallas that we’ve never tried. This was my favorite. They bring a simple sticky rice dish wrapped in a banana leaf for every table. It was new to us but it was interesting. We then had the shrimp spring rolls, which were fine. The main course is what made it for me. I had the drunken noodles which were great. The dish is made with steak, which appeared to me to be a ribeye or some other tender cut, which was then sliced and/or diced into small pieces. Very tender and worked very well with the noodles. My wife had the chicken pad thai which was also delicious. I couldn’t decide whose dish was better. Overall the food was delicious. I can’t imagine going wrong with drunken noodles or the pad thai. The patio was small, but again it was early and so the ambiance would be difficult in any event. Big portions so don’t hesitate to bring some home. We did, and it was every bit as good. Well done and would recommend.

We were there for an hour. Foods were tasty, but a little bit on the salty side. We paid a hefty bill with great gratuity since the service was pleasant.

I had been here a couple years ago with my colleague for dinner and had been raving about this place to my family all this time. I finally convinced my wife to go here for dinner this mother’s days. We were promptly seated upon arrival of our reservations. The hostess was attentive and service was quick, food was even better. The wife and kid loved the avocado shrimp salad, glass noodles, edema me, the chicken satay disappeared quick. The selection of house beers was great as well. Overall an awesome evening out with the family and enough leftovers for next day lunch. This place is on my top list of restaurants.

We decided to try this site before going to a movie in the same area of town, the Magnolia Theater, both within walking distance of each other. This "Up-Town" area of Dallas is very busy almost all the time & is a favorite of the younger generation, many of whom live in surrounding condos & apartments. Parking is available, but if you park in the parking garage, some walking is required. Best to eat early & maybe find curbside parking, which is often open before the area is too crowded. The restaurant has received several positive reviews from the Dallas media, & after sampling the menu in person, these reviews seem very reliable. We shared several appetizers ranging from the grilled turmeric & peanut marinated chicken satay skewers, spicy chili-garlic wings, to the lemon grass mussels (perfectly steamed & seasoned). All were excellent in flavors & were accompanied by very tasty sauces. The entree menu items were equally outstanding & especially the grilled curry cod served either with rice or crispy noodles, with vegetables & flavors that were mouthwatering. The food was so good that it was difficult to stop eating the generous portions even after the realization of being full! You will not leave hungry or dissatisfied. Cocktails & other bar drinks were very good & did not lack for originality or presentation. The service was attentive & without reservation for quality of delivery. A very pleasant place to eat that also has an outdoor seating area if the weather is not too hot. Highly encourage visitors to this area of Dallas.

Absolutely fantastic authentic Thai food and excellent service ! I can recommend the tuna spring rolls and the chicken pad Thai (try adding Thai basil !!) extra spicy. Definitely worthy to come back to and reasonably priced!

Everything is super fresh and they take food allergies seriously. They use gf soy sauce and will customize any order to you liking. The food is delicious. The best dish is their pad thai. Drunken noodles are good and so is the Bun. We shared the sample plate of appetizers which was very good. One negative is the chicken in the Bun dish was not grilled and it had a strange texture, almost like they used too much meat tenderizer. The other negative is the beer selection. They have their own brewery and serve no bottled beer. I like an asian beer like Tsingtao or Kirin Ichiban. They have 4 different beers which we sampled and I liked the "Vietnamese" beer.

Great service and delicious Thai food. Were able to make most dishes vegetarian or vegan if requested! Great atmosphere too and you know a restaurant is good when there are lots of customers!

Great food great service. Try the Singapore sling. It's big enough for at least 2 drinks per person. We started with the lemongrass mussels.. Omg so good.. I love dipping the bread in the sauce. Yummmmmmm!!! 😍 Must try the the BBQ ribs and the sweet and sour veggie soup. Great flavor, nice atmosphere, great prices and great location. Will be back.

Uptown Dallas place. Co-workers stopped to try something new. Well done Malai.....we'll be back for sure. Food excellent, service perfect.

Was my first time here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We had mussels as an appetizer, and they were very flavorful and liked by all. I settled on the iron pot green curry which was a big bowl of goodness. Complex flavors and savory chicken rounded out the egg noodles underneath. My wife got the shrimp pad thai with the highest level of spice. It was awesome. It's the perfect dish if you like the level of spice where you're sniffling a little but not screaming hot.

I had a great first experience with Thai food. The waiter was very patient and explained everything and answered all of my questions. Food was great and I would recommend!

I stopped in well after 9pm and the wait staff was welcoming and helpful when I explained that I wanted something light, not too sweet or expensive, not deep-fried or too heavy, with lots of protein, and probably more besides that. The recommended drunken noodles with beef tenderloin hit the spot for $13.

We love the food and service at this small eatery in West Village. The lemon grass chicken and the jalapeno margarita are perfection. The service at the bar is better than table service, but it is at most small restaurants. We eat here quite often and would highly recommend to friends.

Go for the food. It was uniformly excellent. I do not have a lot of experience with Thai food, but my three friends did and they confirmed it was good Thai food. I only know it was really tasty stuff. The drinks were creative as well. My only criticism is that the hostess told us we'd wait approximately 40 minutes for a table. We decided to wait based on that prediction. We ended up waiting 1 hr, 20 min before being seated and missed our show.

How can this place ever get a good review? Awful food - verging on inedible, rude staff. Avoid- the worst place I have ever been to in Dallas.

We now have Malai in Southlake! We have been here several times since they opened. Thats the only place my adult daughter wants to go when she is in town. Everything we have eaten has been fresh and delicious. Be careful: they can make it really spicy if you'd like. The Green Papaya Salad is the best I've ever had! Love their Sticky Rice and Mango Dessert too!

I'm reviewing the brand new Malai Kitchen now in Preston Center. It is a fabulous spot to enjoy great food, in a nice relaxed atmosphere, with great service. My partner and I enjoyed splitting Chicken Pad Thai and a "small" Vietnamese chicken pho. Small is hardly the best description, as it was sizable enough to serve at least 2 persons. Same with the Pad Thai. They have a nice by-the-glass wine list, and I enjoyed the Cloudline Pino Noir. Our server Kameran was very attentive and helpful throughout. Can't wait to return and try some of the many offerings on the menu. This new location is great, with easy parking and very well trained, hospitable staff. Kudos!

We recently visited Malai for a late night dinner after getting off a flight from Love Field. The restaurant ambiance was very good. Service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and made us feel welcome. My wife had the drunken noodle and i had the the duck salad, The duck salad was average and to be honest it did not taste the duck which has a heavy taste. It tasted more like turkey but i did not question it as it was late night and its possible my taste buds were numb from the long flight. We had the Pork tacos for appetizer. Portions were of good size, prices were reasonable. Beers are home brewed and were pretty good, tasted like craft beers should.

My GF and I go to Malai Kitchen on McKinney Ave. for their really great Tom kha gai soup and mango sticky rice dessert whenever we go downtown. Well worth the trip. Their other food is good too, but the soup and mango sticky rice are our favorites.

Really friendly and professional staff. Best green curry I've had in a while. You can taste each ingredient, not just one mass of flavor. Very good in house beers too.

Great Thai food, excellent service, location and friendly staff. Well trained staff, they know how to say each detail of the menu and make good suggestions on what to choose. One of the best Thai food I have ever tasted out of Thailand. Biiiiig portions. You can share if it’s not too hungry.

My fiancée had a taste for Thai and we saw how highly ranked this place was. I can see why. Fresh food great service. The manager even took the time to visit our table. I really appreciated that. I would recommend to anyone who likes Asian food.

A friend recommended Malai Kitchen, and she was spot on. The crowd was a diverse mix of families and hipsters. We scored a table outside and a server brought the complimentary appetizer of sticky rice wrapped in a banana leaf. My friend had red curry and I had the pineapple fried rice. Both were superb. We also indulged in dessert, a sort of chocolate empanada and coconut cream pie. We were never quite sure who our server was, as three different people took care of us, but they made sure we got what we needed.

Loved this restaurant. Innovative, delicious Asian-fusion cuisine (seared scallop pad Thai - genius!), terrific service and passionate chef/owners who deserve their success. Will definitely return on next trip to Dallas.

On top of my few Thai restaurants in dallas area. The food was yummy and will definitely go back again . The location is awesome right in the heart of uptown and you could go by the uptown train also. Approachable to a lot of parking lots nearby.

OMG! A delightful, tasty and adventurous meal. Service was at the top level with multiple servers sharing jobs. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, drinks and main entrees. Don't skip the creative drinks! Order as many dishes to share so you can eat. It's like the owner gave the mixologist and chef free reign to go and create. What they have come up with is exquisite!!

Delicious! Papaya salad and peanut crusted trout plus banana creme for dessert. I have to eat gluten free and no problem here! My husband enjoyed the spicy basil chicken too! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a perfect evening in Dallas!

Called ahead because I was told several times that friends said restaurants in the area fill up fast. Was seated directly with a 3/4 full room. Received a complimentary sticky rice. We ordered appetizers a Malai Favorites Sampler! Chicken Vietnamese Soup large to split. When the appetizers came they were perfect for 2 people and everything was very well presented and tasted excellent! I'm usually not a fan of chicken soups but the broth was complex and very good! We barely had room for the desert! Mango Sticky Rice Smash was the reason we decided to come here! It did not let down it was stratospheric! Date said it was the best desert she ever had! Price was reasonable and the staff:friendly, informative, and youthful positive energy. Will be returning soon!

They serve quite good South East Asian Fusion Cuisine. I won't call it authentic Thai or Indian. The chefs have carefully crafted fusion of both worlds. Lots of options for vegetarians including some classics. And Sugarcane Juice ! The location is perfect for a romantic dine out. They have outdoor seating as well

I like the Pho with beef which is a fragrant broth with beef and rice noodles to which you add fresh herbs to taste.

Very bemused by the reviews the place is not worth visiting - easily the worst restaurant of our trip. Turn up and get a nice table and then order food. Starters were fine but avoid the spring rolls (cold and inedible). The mains were tough, chewy, hot (lots of spice but no actual taste just like someone had dumped loads of chilli’s in). Incredibly rude staff. Avoid like the plague

Amazing seems to still be under rating this fantastic eatery! Service was great! BUT THE FOOD....was full of intense flavors that made you mouth want to eat your meal and everyone else's at the table! All 4 dishes plus appetizers were making us all happy that the restaurant we had planned on eating was closed. LUCKY US!!!

Not authentic Thai, but very good red curry, drunken noodle and tiger noodles. Park in the garage, it's easier.

Truly enjoyed the dinner at Malai. Food was excellent and service was pleasant and efficient. We had two different types of spring rolls. Both were excellent. Our entrees were a fried rice dish and a tomato soup with tofu. I ordered the rice at medium heat and it was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed both. We shared the banana pot de crème. It could not have been better. Almost returned the next night as well. Will surely be back when in Dallas again.

I was excited to read all about this place thinking they use quality ingredients, and offer vegan/gf options. Unfortunately, when I ordered shishito pepper tempura along with a dish, I received just the peppers instead no tempura! The girl who took the order never gave me this information that if you order this dish gf then you basically miss out on the whole dish. When called to get refund on this, neither the help desk nor the manager were helpful!! They kept saying you ordered gf that's why, no apologies nothing! Why would I order a tempura WITHOUT the tempura batter! Or I would order something else IF you told me that this can't be made without the batter. Could have been my go to place but who needs a customer service this bad, and given their high prices it should have been exceptional to begin with. Not getting my money in the future!!

This restaurant has very very little as far as Vietnamese food. It is basically Thai, The Sea Bass was good as the beer sampler. The mussels were not outstanding but edible. However, I would not return due to the very poor and slow service.

No Flavor. It started to rain so we all popped on here thinking soup of some kind and we all agreed there was no flavor. Started with the tuna tartare which had way too many herbs in it that you lost the tasted of the tuna. The chicken satay (large pieces) was dry and you were given in a small ramekin peanut sauce and and chili paste (no drizzle on a plate, no sauce on top) boring. Some had the curry both soup other had the lemon grass soup. The curry broth was beautiful to look at but no flavor. The lemongrass soup and no lemon taste and the broth was so dark and the shrimp was lost (lack of shrimp). We all ordered side of rice to help balance the taste because we all seasoned our rice. Would no return. Soup is not that hard.

One of my favorite Asian restaurants in the neighborhood. The drunken noodles are so good. But the mango dessert is the BEST!! I should just start with dessert first.

Went in to order food to take back to the apartment. This is a nice little establishment in Dallas west village. We ordered the Scallops, Drunken noodles, Yellow curry, green curry, lemon grass soup, curry crab dip and for dessert mango sticky rice. They were all very delicious and the cooks added the spice to taste as the scallops had the spi e on the side. I really liked all the dishes and would recommend this establishment to any Thai food fans outfit there.

Malai Kitchen serves delicious Thai in a casual setting. The ingredients were fresh and vibrant with flavor. The lemongrass shined in the Tom Yum Goong soup. The Larb Gai provides a tasty paleo option. This was a late and lite dinner. I plan to review more items on my next visit.

We were on a visit and our friends took us to uptown Dallas n whilst driving around we saw this lovely restaurant and decided to dine here.lovely restaurant with a lovely ambiance and our table attendant was very sweet n friendly though she wasn't so fluent in English.they didn't hv the beer of our choice so we settled for another beer.white wine was nice n chilled.we chose to sit outside so we could get a view of the road n the bustling activity outside.we ordered Sathay n a salad n Tum yum soup n shrimps padthai n tofu green curry n tofu n veggie noodles n the presentation was fabulous.the food was very very tasty n nice huge portions.just be careful their vvvvv hot is extremely hot hot hot.portions r huge and we had to take food home. Must visit this lovely place if you are in uptown Dallas

Malai Kitchen is a great little find in Dallas’ West Village with a wide variety of Thai and Vietnamese food. Prices were reasonable and the wine list had something for everyone. My husband had the cod poached in coconut milk and I had the pork belly and both were very tasty. There is free covered parking in a garage around the corner And the outdoor seating area, where we were able to sit, is quite nice. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star was that I felt the food could have been served at a better temperature as I tend to like my food served piping hot!

We ate here late on a Saturday morning. Every aspect of our experience here was positive. We shared the sampler appetizer. Spring rolls were amazing. Both of our entrees were very good. Pricing was reasonable. Would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Very friendly service and the team worked well for the table service. We loved the unique things such as lime/cane sugar drinks and great appetizers. We prefer the regular menu versus their brunch menu but both are available during "brunch".

We had a 20 minute wait, but bought a drink at the bar and all was well. We were seated in a booth in the back and every table was full. It was so loud, it was hard carrying on a conversation at our table. They need to do something with the ceiling to dampen the noise. The food was great. We had the sampler plate and everything was really good save the one sauce that goes with the Vietnamese meat balls, (pork meatballs that were not balls, but flat patties). The sauce that accompanied the chicken satay is excellent! I had the spicy shrimp pad thai and it was very good, plenty of shrimp and great flavor. My wife split the peanut encrusted ruby trout with her sister and we all loved it. We were too full to get any dessert. So, go eat and ask not to be seated in the back if the place is full.

Pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered pad Thai with tofu and no egg. They put egg in it anyways. The taste was bland, had to put salt, lime and sauce to make it better

Great tasting and authentic food elegantly presented. After trying out their dinner and lunch menus several times, at the recommendation of waitresses Daisy and June, as well as managers Joel and Davin, I decided to try their Brunch items available only on Saturday and Sunday. Loved the Chicken Congee. It reminded me of my own homemade congee. They even add sliced Cantonese style "donut" and poached egg on top with fresh scallions and shredded fresh ginger. Coffee was served fresh and hot. And the Mango Sticky Rice dessert was excellent.

I went there with local friends who told me about the restaurant and the superior quality. And guess what? They were right! From service to beer, from starter to maincourse, from dessert to check out - absolutely wonderful experience. Having been in Asia often I can tell that the cuisine is very authentic and the staff is very dedicated to make the visit an impressive experience.

This is a great spot to go and eat food in Dallas. There are many vegetarian options. I had the veggie pad Thai and it was to die for! The service and ambience are A+ as well.

Relly its vary amazing and tasty thailand food in dallas You can find a all thailand cousin and all is tasty

It was a girly dinner between my sister and I. The place was packed when we went for dinner. We ordered the Green Papaya Salad and the Vietnamese Noodle Soup (beef). The salad was good but I thought the noodle soup was a little bland. There was a complimentary glutinous rice appetizer which I could not finish because it was still hard (undercooked). The servers were very attentive and came by often to refill our cups and fold napkins. Overall a good dining experience.

What has inspired me to write this review is how affordable this restaurant is. You get a high quality meal for cheap. Their Pho is great and worth the trip, I also recommend the green curry pot. Try the mango sticky rice for dessert, they serve it out of a halved coconut.

Excellent service, truly. The staff works as a team to take care of its guests. Refills are non stop. They keep the tables clean too. I ordered the shrimp pad thai, oh my gosh, what a fantastic tasty dish, i savored every bite, yummy. My husband enjoyed a chicken fried rice with an egg on top, yum

Love their Thai coconut chicken soup-even to go! Have tried many small plates that were shared on their menu and the food seems so fresh and flavorful-that is why I keep going back.

This was my second time eating here and they did not disappoint! I had the chicken pad thai with a level 3 spiciness. The texture, the seasoning the overall flavor and mouth feel was exquisite. Our waiter Tim was great, very attentive and we had a great rapport. I will definitely be back!

We only get to Dallas once a year but we never miss Malai Kitchen. The food and service are consistently excellent and if you go during happy hour its like you are stealing the food and drinks!!

I've eaten here twice in a week & everything I've had is really delicious. The tacos & the papaya salad are a must order. Best coconut pie in town

I have been plenty of times there on casual and business meetings. I love the green papaya salad. I love it! the green thai veg curry and other options are good. but the food is expensive. Also their spice levels goes on varying

My husband found this restaurant on our recent visit to Dallas and wanted to give it a try for dinner. We had a great experience from the time we walked in till we left. We were greeted right away after being seated and offered drinks. Our actual server came next- both very knowledgeable about the menu. They had many GF options listed on the menu but we were told most anything could be made GF upon request. We had Spring rolls, Green and Yellow Curry. Everything was delicious!!

Great restaurant with nice ambience and excellent service. I loved my chicken pad woonsen. I ordered it at #4 heat-- perfect. I'll gladly return!

I was staying near by and the bartender suggested I try this place. I wish that he had made another suggestion. The service was good but the food was not that good. Everything lacked flavor and it may have been the most bland thai food I have ever had. Thai food should be so flavorful that you cant imagine eating anything else every again. I dont think i would ear here again uless i knew they bought some spices!!!!!!

I often go here for lunch or dinner and it is always busy. However I do not know what to expect each time. The stuff cannot handle the pressure and they forget to bring you utensils - for some reason they like to collect them after each plate (an appetizer, soup, etc.) but forget to bring new ones. I waited 10 minutes once before I finally had someone bring me a spoon. I only order certain dishes because the overall menu is not that great. Appetizers are overpriced and are not meant for sharing. Few waiters are rude so I try not to get their tables if I can. Few times they forgot I asked for tofu and not chicken but I did not waste my time trying to have it changed. Overall soups are amazing which is why I keep returning here.

Great location in Uptown. I had the Red Curry Cod and the dish was outstanding. Asked for "Thai Spicy" and the flavor and spice was perfect. All of our party were very happy with their dishes and be sure to try the great appetizers.

Ordered no ice for a drink and they filled the cup half full? Food was tasty but they kinda made a semi regular customer mad.

The combination platter of appetizers is GREAT. The staff is very friendly and parking isn't too bad with patience.

Great restaurant. Food is consistent. Love the lemongrass chicken. I prefer to sit in the bar area but the entire restaurant and patio is nice.

Everything is so yummy here. The pho is especially good. They have an awesome menu and I recommend sharing and trying a little bit of everything.

This review is not easy to write because my daughter enjoyed her meal and our server was very nice and attentive. As for me, I liked it but, when we arrived I let my expectations soar by the interior, the staff and the menu, and soon I was looking for something special. We were told of everything made "in house" and the menu was so extensive I had trouble even making choices. We soon decided and although everything was good, I did not experience the flavor that I expected from the dishes. I suppose I could have asked for "spicy" but I did not think I would need to. As it turns out it appears to be more American than true Asian but was a pleasant evening.

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. The hostess took us to the indoor patio area, which had me nervous and ready to speak-up at first since it was 100 degrees outside and I assumed it would be steamy in the patio, but to my surprise, it wasn't. It was air conditioned and perfectly comfortable. We were greeted by a waiter, Luis S, who was friendly and attentive. He was also very helpful with information we asked about the food, ingredients, and also the area of West Village as this was our first visit to that particular area. The food was different, both Thai and Vietnamese dishes. My daughter ordered the Vietnamese Sandwich with pork and I ordered the Vietnamese Meatballs and Thai Spicy Wings. All were yummy. The meatballs especially were very flavorful. We both also ordered the Peach Ginger Green Tea, which we both enjoyed. Neither of us added sweetner as it just tasted good without. I would absolutely come here again and since I live near Keller, I am very excited to hear that they are opening a second location in Southlake so I will be able to stop-by more often. I am looking forward to coming on a Sat or Sun for their brunch and trying the Thai Eggs Benedict !

Having travelled the world and being involved in the Hotel and Restaurant I have developed a very keen eye or have become a food critique for me there is either good food or bad food so having dined at the Malai Kitchen without a reservation was lucky as they are always fun . I found the Service very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes as this is is Thai - Vietnamese Cuisine , ingredients were fresh portions were good sized and price reasonably . I really liked this place and would go there again

I liked this restaurant, although I think the atmosphere is better than the food. I had spring rolls, which were good, and shrimp pad Thai, which was solidly good but not outstanding. It was a good buy and had plenty of shrimp and all around generous proportions. The restaurant has a very pleasant, muted, chic atmosphere. The servers were pleasant and the booths were extremely nice.

We did not know about this place. We stop in a shopping place to buy something for our kids and we did not have any lunch. We did a quick search on Yelp and the reviews were good, we decided to try it. The waitress was fantastic, she was always smiling, fast and with a great sense of humor. She noticed when I took a picture and did a comment of how she like people who appreciate food. The presentation was amazing, perfect; 10 points for the chef. She gave us an appetizer of rice on a banana leaf with a side of a vegetable cream (do not remember the vegetable). A great start. As usual, I ask for my Thai Tea (no milk please) and was perfect. I order the Panana Curry Duck, OMG (careful has peanuts). The flavor was amazing, the peanuts were in balance with the cream and the duck was perfect. I ask for mild hot and was great. My wife asks for the Iron Pot Green Curry - Chicken; I try it and was amazing. Perfect presentation and flavor. Both plates had enough food. We also ask for desert, we ask for the Banana Pot the Creme. The banana has burned like a creme Brulee (caramelized) with a creme at the bottom made with Banana and nuts (I think) with two pieces of dark chocolate with salt. I am not too fan of salt, but the mix of flavors was an explosion on our brain. Definitely this is one of my top places in the world. Hope I can visit them again.

My wife and I came here on a nice, sunny Sunday afternoon. We greatly enjoyed eating outdoors in the covered patio area. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. They have happy hour prices on Sunday so that was a bonus. The location in the West Village on McKinney is friendly for customers and convenient. There is free parking in the garage which is a big plus. We will be back again.

This was my very first time going, I had the dish of the day which on Wednesdays is Tiger noodles. They do ask you if you want mild medium or hot, I opted from Medium as I do like spice. I will warn you medium is quite spicy! I also don't like cilantro, and the waiter was very accommodating with my request to not have it included in my dish. After my spicy dish I was really looking forward to a cooling piece of coconut cream pie, which did not disappoint! I have not had a lot of Thai or Cambodian food. This is only my second time at a Thai restaurant. So I cannot say whether or not it taste authentic, however it was delicious. I visited the Uptown Dallas location, which is attached to a free parking garage, which made it all the more convenient.

Went here for dinner with friends. The entrées were great, not as spicy as requested but nonetheless very tasty. Wine was good, menu was diverse and prices reasonable- Overall dinner was a very nice experience- The desserts were amazing. Absolutely the best coconut cream pie I've ever tasted - Service was above average, I would recommend If in Uptown....

The drinks and food were both unique and delicious. The service was good, too. Very upscale feel. I had the beef pho and my friends both had eggs benedict. Everyone was very pleased.

My friend picked Malai Kitchen for dinner this past Friday night, because she lives right across the street, and, to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. It wasn't my favorite meal of the weekend, but it was much better than I expected, and I did enjoy the food quite a lot! We arrived around 9:30 pm on a Friday night, and it was still quite busy. Luckily, my friend had called ahead to make sure there would be a table for us, and we were seated right away. The service throughout the meal was good as well. For starters, we ordered the grilled Satay (peanut, turmeric, bourbon marinated chicken with chili relish) and the curried crab dip (lump crab, coconut curry, chilies, egg, kaffir, ginger, and shrimp chips). The satay was great - the chicken wasn't dry at all and the marinade was very good. The curried crab dip was also great. I could eat those shrimp chips all day long. I shared entrees with my brother so we could try more of the menu. I ordered the drunken noodles (fresh jasmine rice flat noodles, spicy chopped tenderloin, bell peppers, Thai basil), and he ordered the Vietnamese Barbecue Pork Ribs (half rack with ginger soy glaze over green curry noodles and a green papaya slaw). My friend is vegetarian and got their red curry with tofu. My friend's curry had amazing flavor, and I would have been glad to have that as my own meal. The drunken noodles were so delicious (quite spicy when ordered medium). And the ribs were HUGE but also great. There wasn't anything I didn't like. They also serve house-brewed beers: a Vietnamese lager, an Asian style Pilsner, a peach tea wheat, an IPA brewed with lemongrass and ginger and other spices, and more. I tried the peach tea wheat, which was really great. My friend swears by their cocktails, which she is what she ordered. All in all, it was a great meal. The portions are quite large, and if I go again, I'd love to go with more people and get to share more things. As it was just the three of us, we ordered WAAAAAAY too much food. But a great meal!

First time here, and food was really good. Never eaten pho before. If it's all this good, I will again!! The staff was really attentive too:

I only had one night in Dallas to eat and was in the mood for Vietnamese food. And my friend had the shrimp pad thai and I had tenderloin noodles and both were excellent. We both got the homemade lemonade which was very good too. But my favorite was the appetizer. It was the meatball appetizer that you put inside of lettuce and it was amazing. The service was good and extremely fast.

Loved the French toast and Thai eggs Benedict! The brunch crowd was slow on Sunday. The wait staff was a bit over attentive filling water and removing plates! The food for breakfast was novel and tasty. We will come back to explore some of the other breakfast offerings. Do not let the "Thai for breakfast" throw you off. The approach has been well thought out and it is well worth exploring. My wife was skeptical but seemed to lick the proverbial platter clean.

This is a Thai-Vietnamese Restaurant to be sure to try if you are in Dallas. The atmosphere is great and the staff are naturally friendly and attentive. We had a couple of starters along with a free one and then we had the green chicken curry and finished off with chocychilli roti which was wonderful. Don’t miss out!

Absolutely loved the food here! We sat outside on the patio and service was excellent. I had the peach ginger detox iced tea and as an iced tea fanatic, it was one of my top favorite tea drinks. We had the Thai tacos with pork for an appetizer. They were delicious with a crispy wonton shell. For dinner we had chicken pad Thai and the drunken noodles with beef. Both dishes were amazing, wish I lived in the area because this would a great place to get takeout too. Highly recommend this restaurant in Uptown, a perfect area to walk around and have dinner.

Nice food, nice drink, near the community center, nice and communicative staff. Many asian options of menus. Really helpful staff to assist the recommended menu

Went here after the movie at Magnolia. They have it set up where any server is available to help, and this is a system that WORKS! I had this superb Manhattan that I sipped all thru dinner and dessert. We shared egg rolls with tuna, she had superb pad Thai and I had these outstanding Vietnamese ribs. Coconut cream pie for dessert. DEFINITELY going back!

We had two Thai entrees - one the daily fish special. The fish was fresh and had great texture, but the sauce and salad dressing was not to my taste, The chicken green curry entree was excellent They have a good patio with great street views but they did not have a table available there during our visit.

The appetizers were excellent.....the service was very fast. This is a great place for families too.

If you're going to stop at Malai for lunch, make it a Thursday - I cannot recommend the Bangkok Rice enough. AMAZING! It's a daily lunch special and is ONLY available on Thursdays, it's not an everyday menu item. The restaurant is clean and spacious and the staff is very pleasant. Traffic can be a little hectic getting there, it's located in Uptown...but well worth the drive!

Very quick service, and the food was great. I thought that it would be cold eating out on the patio in the middle of a cold winter day in January, but it was cozy and warm. The food was delicious, especially the lemongrass chicken.

Stopped here for a drink and apps. The drinks were creative and tasty. We got the Spicy Crispy Wings and Grilled Satay and both were good. The wings are a bit difficult to eat without making a mess as they are the wing/thigh combo but the glaze has a nice flavor. I do not live in Dallas but if I did I would be sure to try the Malai Kitchen one night for dinner.

Have you ever visited that spot that you had the fondest memories of to be incredibly let down? This describes my recent visit to Malai Kitchen. Over three years ago, my wife and I watched Chef Braden compete against Bobby Flay and were completely awe struck by his creative, fresh fusions. We immediately planned to have enjoy dinner that week. When the server promoted the Chef’s Tasting menu, we were all in, inviting another couple to join us on our culinary adventure. We were by no means not let down! The tremendous food and phenomenal service led us to celebrate many personal and professional milestones in a booth at Malai. When out of town visitors suggested Asian cuisine, we quickly had a suggestion, and they ended up being glad that we did. Yesterday’s experience changed it all. The youngest diner in our party ended up getting her entrée from the kids menu after most of the adult had finished theirs. It seems customary for kid’s meals to be served first at most spots, but not this time. Only after alerting our server, did the kiddo get her simple meal. It was during our wait that we noticed the dirty glasses from a previous party scattered behind our booth against the wall at shoulder level (gross). When we were finally visited by the manager, he offered a table of 5, a singular dessert to make up for the inconvenience and uncleanliness. Not personally interested in desert, it was agreed upon for the kiddo’s sake. After 10 minutes, we had to ask about that. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in my experience. I won’t be celebrating any milestones, or taking out of town visitors. I would have written it off as a “one off” had the experience not kept getting perpetually worse. Since this is my daughter’s favorite spot, I’ll probably have to go back again, so, just maybe Malai can win our entire family back over.

Great service. Kenji is amazing, very friendly and gave us tons of ideas of what to do here in Dallas. and food is top.

went for lunch to this place with my 5 weeks old grandson.dint want to go to any noisy place..so they gave us corner table..food was excellent i should mention here ..since i am allergic to seafood and its thai and viatnami restaurant worried about what to order but the staff was so helpful and took care about it. Ambience was good...

I love Thai food and try to visit a Thai restaurant when traveling.I came across Malai based upon reviews from Yelp & TA. The atmosphere is nice and has an airy feel about it. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. The food was okay. My favorite was the tuna tartare and shishito peppers. The entree (shank) was huge but not as flavorful as I'd like. The Moscow mule was on point. Overall, a good dining experience.

This place is a hidden gem in Dallas. It rests between an alley and a parking garage off McKinney. Beautiful menu full of asian flare mixed with just the right amount of modern to authentic perfection. Everything here is great! Try the Margarita with muddled ginger and Thai Chilis. I love to experience true team work in it's most honest form. I saw the owner not being afraid to pick up a dish bin from the bar and bussing tables because it needed to be done. That kind of attention to detail on every level is a very comforting feeling in a bar/restaurant. Im sure next time I visit Dallas this place will be the highlight of my food experience again.

The food is very tasty. A lot of the dishes on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan. As an appetizer our daughter had the raw spring rolls, they were great! We had the red curry (vegan) and our daughter the stir fry (vegetarian), all of it was delicious. The service was very friendly. All in all an enjoyable dinner.

Very nice, trendy place for dinner in Dallas. Valet parking available and reservations a must for dinner. Found out about this place from watching Bobby Flays cook-off show. Not disappointed at all. We ordered several dishes off the appetizer and main dish selections, for a table of 6.

Perfect place to eat in Uptown. Fairly priced and DELICIOUS food. You must try their Drunken Noodles. It's to die for.

The food is Vietnamese-Thai fusion and very delicious. The Vietnamese meatballs are a must and you can't go wrong with any of the noodle dishes or desserts. The service is fantastic and all the staff works together so you're never waiting for anything. I've only been there twice and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants.

HH drinks specials are perfect price as well as the food pricing. Must try the crab dip, thai wings. The Lemongrass Fizz is very refreshing as well.

This was our second visit to malai after the early-bird movie at Magnolia. It's a short block away from all the noisier activity near the theater. Had my favorite Malai Manhattan. My 1/2 rack of ribs were great, and my wife had a shrimp dish that was excellent, and she kept remarking that few restaurants put that many shrimp in any main course.

We had our Sunday bunch during the recent 2015 Labor Day weekend. The menu items was eye-opening with choices of Thai and Vietnamese dishes. The choice was made easy with recommendation and assistance from friendly waitress who explained at length the menu we identified or interested in. The price was very reasonable. The atmosphere is family-friendly and a little on the middle or upper class (we didn't see a redneck while we were there).

Malai Kitchen never disappoints. Favorite dishes- Lemongrass Chicken, of course I add Basil as it is so good here. Drunken Noodles with beef tenderloin might be best I have ever had. Sitting at the bar is our fav place to eat. Being able to see TV’s when eating is bonus. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating our special requests. This is a favorite go to place.

Great experience. Food was right on, and server was friendly and helpful. Had the chicken pad Thai and spicy basil chicken.

Malai, the Thai-Vietnamese specialty restaurant is owned by a couple - Braden, the chef, and Yasmin, the hostess. The restaurant was opened in January 2011. Experiencing the options that Yasmin suggested, I tasted, even being vegetarian, because in these moments it is impossible to be radical, the Malai Favorites Sampler - grilled beef, chicken satay, spring rolls and Imperial and Vietnamese meatballs. The next option was Jungle Curry Hot Pot with Shrimp and also the Thai Coconut Soup. The dessert brought by Yasmin was the Mango Sticky Rice Smash. With exotic spices, the Malai dishes are directed mainly to diners who appreciate the Asian taste or even to those who wish to experience the first time the options of those regions.

This place is awesome. The manager Leon Minniefield was very accommodating as far as keeping the staff and employees going like a well oiled machine. The wait staff work together all the time. If one walks by a table and sees something needs to be done they do it they don't go tell someone to go do it. And the food is absolutely awesome. My wife eats gluten free and they can make anything for her gluten free. Not only is it made correctly but the taste of what they make is just divine. I have never seen a restaurant staff work together as did this one. Hats off go Mr. Leon minniefield for keeping things moving and keeping the quality at its highest.

Amazing dinner at Malai Kitchen! They don't take reservations but we called ahead and they told us they would try to accommodate us. Due to traffic, we arrived a bit later than planned and they were very friendly and seated us within minutes. I have celiac, and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful- most items can be prepared gluten free. My husband and I shared the papaya salad and I chose the iron pot green curry with chicken - amazing!!! Highly recommend- I would be a regular if I lived closer!

Took the family on a busy Sat lunch... we were sat in a booth literally in the kitchen. Despite the noise, which was high, the food was incredible... pulled pork tacos were amazing. Better than the pork meatballs, although they were fine.. just not amazing as the tacos..pad Thai and green curry were also great, but green curry was v v hot.

I visited malai in October with my colleagues again few times since then. In October the food was ok but it arrived after one hour of waiting time. The server spilled the soup and when I asked to change it it was not received well. They changed the bottom plate but the bowl was still the old one with spilled soup. They have changed the waitress after that incident and the old one would give us looks each time she would pass by. The new one only came by once at the end to bring the bill. At that time the vegetable soup was way to salty and dense and that is pretty much all I order. I have been back again later few times, the service had improved, but they definitely are not handling high volume traffic at busy rush hours. I love their coconut soup and the vegetable soup, which has improved greatly since the last visit. The wait should pay more attention to the order and if they stay on top of it the food is actually really good. I of course will continue going there but i would make sure it is not during the busy packed hours if I want to enjoy my food served on time.

We had the Shrimp Pad Thai – wok-seared shrimp, egg and tofu with rice noodles and with crushed peanut, and the Tuesday lunch special of fried rice over easy. Both very good. Take out due to Covid 19. This is a favorite restaurant for uptown residents.

This fantastic Thai restaurant was a spectacular experience during our final Sunday lunch in Dallas! Everything from the drinks, to the appetizer to the genuine Vietnamese coffee. I wish I could rate Malai more than five stars! Their customer interaction was kind and upbeat. The staff readily answered my questions and always had a smile! The wait time for the food to arrive was efficient made better by the complimentary sticky rice and eggplant dip. My dish, the seared sea scallop pad Thai was one of the best Thai dishes I have ever tasted! Their drink menu is worth the trip all in its own! I had the Mekong Mule which was dangerously refreshing full of cucumber mint and ginger flavors! My husband had the Thai Shandy which we found equally delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee after our meal as it was so smooth rich and delightful! Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to any foodie looking for a great experience!

I've been to Malai to have lunch on my birthday and the place is really cute. The location is great, close to many stores and other restaurants in downtown Dallas. The food is really good and fresh, I had the shrimp pad thai, which I strongly recommend, except for the spicy level that I asked for medium and for me was too spicy. Also, the service is amazing, Alexander was our server and so courteous to us, he brought the dessert with a candle to sing happy birthday and didn't charge us for my wine. An absolutely great place to go!

Great food and great price. We loved everything we ate! I’ve spent a lot of time in SE Asia and was impressed by how well it was done here. Recommend

I'm not sure who introduced me to Malai, but it has become my favorite go-to place in Uptown. My co-workers and I go every time one of us has a bad day, which seems to be often!! Coincidence? I don't know, but we tend to find a way to get over there every chance we get. :)

Wow! What a great hidden secret. At Malai its all about the food and flavours. Stunning flavoursome Thai food and some Vietnamese dishes with an very clever influence of Texas dishes really beautifully presented. Food worthy of the very highest accolade. Service attentive. Exterior decor terrible and interior not much better - don't be put off though as its not in keeping with the fabulous food. Chicken satay delicately cooked so still moist but full of flavour with great peanut sauce. Pork tacos a MUST, we ordered them "hot" and they were full of flavour. Tuna tartar (pla tuna) was amazing and I really loved the clever use of warm tacos and perfectly ripe avocados to create a crunchy and creamy texture to the delicious spicy tuna. Vietnamese meatballs were delicious (again, tender meat, fully of juice and flavour) wrapped in lettuce with fresh mint, Thai basil and other greenery with a tangy sauce was a great finish to our meal which was a selection of starters. (To give a balanced review the Papaya salad lacked sauce and therefore flavour - was this just forgotten? Everything else was so good I'm going back today. AMAZING food. Well done Malai Kitchen particularly to the amazing chefs.

Coming here for over 5 years and this place rocks on service AND food. You can't beat the pad Thai, but try everything including the chicken wings as an app.

An interesting menu, tasty food and solid service combine for an excellent dining experience. Prices are a touch high but given the food and service quality, it's warranted.

I loved Malai Kitchen! It is my new favorite restaurant. My table ordered the appetizer sampler which had four different items on it and each were amazing. We also ordered the appetizer tacos and I could probably make a meal out of those, just amazing. My meal was the Char fish and we also ordered the green curry and sea bass. Everybody absolutely loved their meals. We will definitely be returning.

I ate here once and ordered through door dash another time. The food was great both times! I had the peanut encrusted trout and mussels at the restaurant…both dishes perfectly prepared. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Their own beer was also really good. As I was eating my door dashed meal for the second visit, again I was impressed with how delicious it was. I had the shrimp spring rolls and shrimp pad Thai. I can’t wait to eat here again!

Just walked out. The hostess assured us that any item could be made vegetarian so we asked for a table. Waiter asked for our drink order and we said 3 waters while we decided which beers we wanted. He never came back with waters. New waitress introduced herself and asked how our drinks were going. We said we had been waiting for 10 minutes plus. We stared ordering and asked to modify a dish to be vegetarian. She said no because it was on the sampler platter. The menu says "we accommodate dietary restrictions" etc, but we didn't find this to be true. We left, very frustrated and found a pho place down the street, instead.

Thanks to trip advisor, this was the restaurant we chose on a recent trip to Dallas. Situated in a location surrounded by trendy shops, the restaurant has a lovely decor and very good and attentive wait staff. The featured cocktails were interesting and we had fun selecting something new and refreshing. They are a bit expensive at $12.00 each. We were a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their entrees: well priced with good portions. The menu is varied with enough choices for most diets and those with food restrictions. I would be happy to return.

visiting Dallas, with my daughter, her husband and two grandchildren, went to Malai without reservations. We were greeted and theywere nice to accomodate my 8 month grandchild. Excellent and creative food, very well explained by Octavia the Phillipine descent waiter in charge. Since I'm new to Vietnamese cuisine, I wanted to explore the different types of food, Octavia did everything to match our food intererests, Octavia was right, nice Cocktails, Cocunut Soup, Nooddles, hot sauces , Jazmin Vegetable Fried Rice! everything tasty, Tropic Thai drinks- In summary- I'm staying for a few more days in Dallas and plan to return. The Restaurant's location is a classy neighborhood, the prices are very reasonable, consideringis an upscale place. I feel the menu is an adventure and deserves time and discussion with your waiter to make sure the food matches your taste. This place is definitely recommended, say hello to Octavia the waiter.

We went here in a Sunday evening with friends. They had a 2 for $9 appetizer special that was delicious. On our servers recommendation, I had the chicken and broccoli for dinner and it was more than enough great tasting food! I wish we lived closer so we could go back!

I brought a friend here who was visiting from out of town and the food was wonderful! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view as well as our meals. This is my third time here and I have yet to be disappointed!

We recently visited Dallas and dined at Malai Kitchen... the food is amazing, presentation very nice. I ordered the Yellow Curry dish, excellent, my husband had the Drunken noodles... so flavorful! The coconut pie is to die for... very rich, we split! I can't say enough about the quality of food and service for this restaurant, our waitress was lovely. enjoy!

I was really looking forward to eating here, but was very disappointed with the dining experience. The food here was very average. Most of our dishes were overly salty or dis-proportionally seasoned. The only thing that was really good was the pork wanton tacos. For the money, you're better off going to Mint, PF Changs, or Chili Thai. We will not be dining here again.

This place has it all. Good food and good cocktails. The service is always great. I love that they opened a new location in southlake. It's a must on my list!

Really busy place so I can't be alone in thinking it's a great place. Really friendly waiting staff, great atmosphere, fast service, but above all, fantastic food. Have been a regular there since living in Uptown, and never once been disappointed! Highly recommended, but remember to book beforehand - it does get busy!

After a trans-Atlantic flight my colleagues and I wanted a quick lunch within walking distance of our hotel. We found Malai Kitchen and were drawn in by the delicious smells that wafted out into the sidewalk. We were promptly greeted and seated by a slightly surly hostess, but were served by a super friendly waiter. The food was to die for! Tasty and good portions. The Thai Tacos (a nod to the restaurant’s locale while remaining Asian) were unbelievably delicious, the Spicy Crispy Samos were equally tasty as were the the lamb shank curry and ribs. I would go back to this wonderful fusion eatery in a heartbeat.

We just searched this and went on to try it. Started with Papaya salad and was totally worth it. Server suggested Pad Thai for vegetarian and 2 thumbs up. Next is a green curry. The best. And last thing was mango sticky rice dessert. Never had this type of dessert. Truly awesome experience.

HORRRIBLE! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I ordered two days ago an entrée at the Uptown location for $15. Today, I ordered the same entree from the Preston Center location PLUS $14 additional worth of protein and noodles additions. However, I received exactly the same amount of food. The owner and corporate manager tried their best to “make me happy”, but all they did was make excuses for why two of their restaurants serve different customers in different economic zones different amounts of food. THIS PLACE IS SCAM! AVOID IT AND SHOW THEM WE DON’T DESERVE TO PAY MORE SIMPLY BECAUSE WE CAN AFFORD IT ON OUR AREA! Horrible!!!!

Love the ambience and service. Not an authentic style Thai/Asian restaurant but more of a fusion. If you're okay with fusion then this place is worth a try. I had a bad experience with the sockeye salmon because it was very charred. Management replaced it for me with no issue and comped our meal. Will visit again!

We were here a few months ago during a late night. We enjoyed it then and could tell there was much more too this. So last weekend we made a reservation. ... We were on time, they were ready, we had the sampler (awesome!) and I had the Vietnamese ribs. Wife has one of the noodle dishes. Bottom line - the most incredible service than I have seen in a long time. Topped off be a Mango dessert served I a coconut that was wonderful. This place is excellent and is very well managed and staffed. Highly recommended and we will be back. We were still talking about it days later!

We visited Malai for lunch. We started out with the meat balls you wrap in lettuce. That was the best! I ordered the Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mow). It was excellent. My friends ordered Pineapple fried rice, the fried chicken wings with fried rice, and Thai chicken dish. Everything was yummy. The entire menu sounded good! We have to go back and try more. The prices are great for home cook Asian food! Great atmosphere. This place won't disappoint.

My wife is Thai. We lived in Bangkok for 12 years before moving to Dallas. Malai Kitchen always seemed full so we decided to try it. I started with a Porter draft beer. I didn't read the fine print I guess because it had chillies in it. It was undrinkable. My wife tried a cocktail which was equally undrinkable. So wet decided to try some Thai like dishes, one being copied beef in leaves, then spring roles and satay. Honestly, with four of us there, and three being Thai, wet couldn't finish those dishes because they were so disgusting. I don't know what they were serving, but it definitely was not Thai and did not taste like Vietnamese either. I have no idea why this place is full many times. I would rate it zero if I could.

I stopped in for lunch while exploring the West Village neighborhood. The atmosphere was cool and comfortable with a sophisticated vibe. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a refreshing peach green iced tea and the rice vermicelli salad with tofu. Then a surprise dish appeared- a charming square of warm sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and accompanied by a just-spicy-enough eggplant dip, compliments of the house! The tofu was warm and crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, on a bed of cucumber, bean sprouts, red pepper slices, onion, and rice noodles. The dressing was deliciously complex - sweet and with the right mix of salty fish sauce. I treated myself to the sticky rice and mango and was not disappointed! There was crispy rice on top of the sticky rice, which was then topped with fresh mango, and all floating in warm, sweet coconut cream, and served in half a coconut. Sublime! Thanks to my server Ray who suggested I use my spoon to scrape out the remaining coconut meat to mix in. My in laws are Thai and I have been spoiled with great Thai cooking. This place is the real deal! Highly recommended!

This is a delicious Thai restaurant in west village. It is super cute, has great service, and fantastic food! The glass noodles were the best I have ever had. Be sure to get spicy! They also have a good happy hour menu with drink specials.and appetizers are two for $9.

We had an excellent dinner here this evening. The service was good, not great but the food was excellent. Delicious appetizers as well as main courses. The satay was tender & tasty (chicken) with two delicious sauces. The Pad Thai with scallops was wonderful, the scallops cooked the perfection & with medium spice fantastic. Definitely worth eating here.

Whether or not a fan of Asian cuisine, you are going to enjoy the brunch options this quaint restaurant has to offer. The lovely baguette French toast is going to please your youngster or a youngster in you. The whole fish entre is not easy to find in US restaurants, but you will not regret if you take your chance with this elegant dish.
Good Vibe, great staff and wonderful food
WE went there for dinner with friends on a Saturday night. We had no booking and managed to get a table. The servers were nice and knowledgeable about the food. The only issue was that they were turning tables so wanted us to hurry up - which is why I rated them one less star The food is really good and has a fusion twist to it. We had the wings, and papaya salad for entrée and they were delicious For mains we got the lamb shank Massaman curry, noodles and a stir fry and each dish was well done. I personally liked the fact that they brew their own beer there and it tasted unique. Will go back to try their brunch menu which looks very intresting
