Seeing the name Malbec, caught our attention immediately as we strolled the streets of Philly yesterday. We didn't have time for a full dinner so we stopped in for a drink and appetizer at this beautiful restaurant during HAPPY HOUR. So glad we did. My husband enjoyed the smoothest glass of Malbec ever and we also gave a try to the Argentine empanada. One beef, one chicken. We are looking forward to going back here and enjoying a full dinner. Lovely experience.

Shared skirt steak with another person. Plenty to eat but food was not outstanding. Steak was chewy. Bread was served with two onion toppings. Did not care for them. Another in our group had salad with salmon. It was ok. Service was great. Atmosphere great.

We had a fabulous time and delicious dinner and drinks at Malbec. It was our first time here and we loved it. Food was excellent. We can't wait to come back.

This is a really good steakhouse. It has a huge advantage in that its in beautiful Society Hill. Just a short distance from our hotel, it made sense to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The building looks inviting, a double fronted period house, and inside diners sit at a variety of tables or at the bar. We had supremely tasty steaks - the best we had in the USA on this trip. There are genuine Argentinian dishes on the menu and the empanadas are excellent. As we have been to Argentina it was great to eat such good empanadas again! This was one of the best meals we had in the USA on this trip and Malbec wine washed it all down. There is no better place to eat if you are exploring this area. Good, friendly, service too.

Let me start by saying that the location is perfect and the food even better. The service and the enviance excellent. We started with empanadas of all kinds a nice cold Fernet Branca and a plate with mix charcuterie. The food menu is broad and the bar has enough drinks to choose from. Service was great . I recommend Malbec Restaurant. I will make you feel that you are in Argentina in a heartbeat!

We were in town for the weekend and not sure where we wanted to eat. Somehow this restaurant popped up and the menu sounded good. There was no availability online but we called directly and were lucky enough to get a reservation. When we arrived that night, they were full. Even so, the service and food were great. I would recommend this restaurant.

I liked both the atmosphere and food, but nothing special. Location of the restaurant is very nice. I might go back. We had good service

Ever had those life experiences that make you wonder why on this good green earth you waited so long to have this experience? Why did fate make you wait so long to come across this goodness of happy joyous memory? Well that’s how I felt when I ate at this restaurant. The food was DELICIOUS! The service was extraordinary and the location is just out of this world (not literally though just google it). Eat here then sit for a bit then make a list of top 3 restaurants you ate it. And put this place up on it. And if you don’t then ask yourself why you exist as a human.

We have been here so many times, and they never disappoint. The food quality and flavor is so outstanding and we love the service and attention to detail. We will definitely be returning in a few weeks.

I lived in Philly for two years and wish I'd found this gem then. It's by far the best place to eat in Philly. The service was outstanding. The food was delicious. The ambiance was perfect. I wish we had places like this in DC

This somewhat rustic restaurant is located in a small historic building in the cobblestone district. Bartenders are serious, service is competent and friendly, owner warmly greeted and thanked us for our visit. Bar was fairly full...happy hour generously goes till 8 pm and includes some food...we saw lots of mussells being consumed. Our group ordered lots from the regular menu and specials sheet....calamari done 3 ways, provilita, empanadas (baked are best), skirt steak, sweetbreads, dulcet de Leche crepes...all the Argentinian favorites. We drank mostly one of the house malbecs....nicely served at cool cellar temperature in nice glassware. A cut above. A great dinner...bill came to $300 without cocktails (paid separately at the bar) including two bottles of house wine. Medium expensive, but worth it.

The food and the service were very good . We enjoyed our dining experience. We both would certainly return and try other menu items

I have had the Malbec Argentine Steakhouse in my radar for a while & decided on a Friday ‘date night’ to give it a try! I am glad I did-the ambiance was delightful and the decor was rustic and reminded me of restaurants I visited in South America. Now-Let’s get to the good part—food and drinks! Began with a nice ‘Malbec’ from Chile & also had a dry white with my meal—both delicious! Our starter plates were Chorizo w/Sausages & Mussels—Love the flavors of both! Entree’s were: Chilean Sea Bass & The Porterhouse. I was pleased with the Sea Bass & my date enjoyed The Porterhouse equally! Our waitstaff gave great recommendations and was attentive. He informed us about the ‘Happy Hour’ and invited us to come back and check it out! I will be back for sure! Overall a quality place!

Went here for our 13th anniversary. A wonderful surprise! The food was absolutely delicious! Fried calamari was perfect and my skirt steak cooked to perfection. Plenty of food for the price. The service very good. For our anniversary they gave us a complimentary dessert and champagne!

I was visiting my son in Philly and took hm to dinner at this excellent restaurant. We ate at the bar as it was crowded and we didn't have reservations. The steak I had was excellent and perfectly prepared. Service by the bar tender was outstanding and dessert was also great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Philadelphia, especially if staying in the Society Hill or Queen Village area of the city.

After reading an article indicating Malbec Argentinian Steakhouse was a top 10 restaurant for steak, we made it a priority to visit. The ambiance is charming, and service was good. The menu offered a large selection- truly something for everyone. We ordered several empanadas for an appetizer, all were excellent. The steaks were prepared perfectly with a great flavor. The sangrias did not disappoint either. Highly recommend this dining experience.

Unfortunately, I can say nothing positive, except for the server who was pleasant. Two hours for dinner when the place is only partially occupied is not good. The empanadas were a doughy uninteresting appetizer with tough chicken filling. The paella was a mess of rice with little seafood and the tough chicken again. The branzino was uninteresting. Definitely not worth a second try.

My friends and I celebrated a 30th Birthday at the restaurant. We went for Sunday brunch. It was shockingly empty. The food was very good and a very affordable price! The service was excellent as well and overall it had a great atmosphere. They did bring two of my friends the incorrect meal. Honestly they didn’t even notice because it was similar! The waiter actually realized it mid meal and got them complimentary drinks.

A wonderful Society Hill restaurant in a nice part of town. The food was excellent! Although it is an Argentine steakhouse, they also serve poultry and seafood selections. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the music relaxing, the plentiful food was excellent. The server was kind and helpful, yet not annoyingly so. The entree was served with a choice of side (I had the salad with a lovely house dressing) and some warm sourdough bread accompanied with seasoned olive oil. Definitely worth a go. I’m planning on going when I next return. Nice dining establishment- I don’t think that you will be disappointed. CB

We've been to Argentina about 10 times,so we were excited to try out Malbec. We were disappointed the previous Argentinean restaurant in S. Philly didn't work out. This was a very authentic experience and would recommend to any steak lover. We went very basic, traditional with our order (pretty much what we get when we go to the parrilla in Argentina: Provoletta Parrillada (The chorizo was awesome) Side of arugula salad & fries. Everything was spot on. Had the Flan for desert, it was good (not awesome). Only suggestion for the chef: Perhaps throw in some lamb or pork too!

I went to Malbec because of the recommendation of some colleagues at work and I understood why their feedback was so positive! The restaurant is quite small, but super cozy and it is located in a beautiful area. We ordered steak and it was amazing! Very traditional argentine style. The owner and the waiters are extremely kind. It was an excellent experience and we will definitely be back!

Recently went here to celebrate birthday and had a great experience. We had the porterhouse and a filet. Both were excellent and really enjoyed everything. We will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is excellent, the food is very good, but straight forward. Reading that this is Argentinian steak house, we expected it to be different that an American one. We didn't see the difference. I would go again, though. It was very nice.

The food is far from being true Argentinian. The meat empanada was mostly dough with little stuffing. The "provoleta" was not what is supposed to be, it is served as a soupy melted provolone cheese in a little pan. The real provoleta is grilled and it is seared outside while soft inside and definitely not melted. The milanesa tasted very oily and greasy. I could not find a single dish that it was worth it and the wait for the food is the longest I have experienced in any restaurant.

Took my family of five to celebrate my birthday. We had a nice table by the window. We ended up eating 6 empanadas because they were so delicious. They were very authentic. The beef were good, but had olives, not a fan of olives. The ham and cheese empanadas were to die for. Two of us had the bife chorizo, very delicious. The beef milanesa a caballo was delicious and very authentic. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The manager was very nice also. We ended up paying $290 with tip, but well worth it. We will be visiting again, but during the week, parking on the weekends is a pain in the buttocks.

Charged for a 12$ bottle water I didn’t order and didn’t correct the bill. Terrible espresso. But meat was excellent

We found the place while having a quick visit to the city. Realy friendly service. We had some apetizers and drinks which where exelent.

My son picked this restraunt for mother day and what a treat. Service was great, food was excellent, desserts tasty . Loved everything. Best Restaurant I have been to in a while.

Been twice in a week and the food was very good both times. The house wine is excellent and reasonably priced. When the meat wasn't cooked right, not only was it replaced immediately with an impeccably cooked piece of meat, but we also got a drink on the house. Now that is style. It's a compact, but comfortable place and it is no problem hearing others talk. The only thing that did confuse us was the size of the starters. Some are enormous, others on the small side. You just don't know how much to order (i.e. will there be enough to share or not? Other than that, no issues. Highly recommended

We love this new(er) place in Philli. The food is always great, the atmosphere relaxed and romantic, and the service professional and friendly. Our favorite spot is at the cozy bar, staffed by our favorite bar tender/ sommelier Ulysses who makes excellent wine recommendations. Highly recommended for a lovely dinner experience

The food was fabulous. From the bread to desert it was lovely. The service was great especially since it was a busy weekend. Parking is a nightmare so prepare to walk.

I state that I am not a polemicist by nature and mine is not a superficial judgment, but when you are particularly disappointed the truth must be told. The place was chosen based on the positive reviews read, which unfortunately mislead. Unclean and bare place. Staff appropriate to the context of criticism. Dishes with raw materials not proportionate to the asking price. Poor clarity in the bill. Tip included in the bill and not at the customer's choice. Absolutely No Recommendation. To be avoided.

went there for drinks with friends, happy hour is quite reasonable. stayed for dinner, meats are excellent and perfectly grilled. platters are large so you could share some of the larger dishes. noise level is high but supportable, service is very attentive. but a fun place on a cold night.

Malbec is a gem! The location is great and close to old city and the space is nice, roomy and comfortable with outdoor seating. I went during restaurant week and I was not disappointed! This is one of the best steakhouses in Philly if not the best! The steak was so tender and juicy and cooked to perfection but the simple seasoning gives it another layer of sophistication. The empanadas are so crunchy and when you bite into them a huge burst of flavor explodes! The flan is so unique and delicious. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Definitely a must go to as a regular.

While I always expect the best I was disappointed in my steak. It was bland and I had to eat it with my mashed potatoes. The steak overall was well prepared. The drinks were good and I finished with a Tawny Port.

The food was very good and the attention was very nice , We are sure the will be back sun and enjoy una Quilmes bien fría

In town for a long weekend to do business related stuff. We, my wife and I, met a couple that I got to know in graduate school twenty years ago and who I have not seen for at least a decade, here for dinner before the four of us went to a performance at a venue several blocks away. The evening was a huge success. We had great conversation over great food at Malbec. It was a wonderful evening. I sampled my wife's cocktail Fernet Branca with Coca-Cola - FUN! The sweetbreads as a starter - delicious. Our beef entrees - perfectly grilled. The wait staff - friendly and efficient. The place was packed, inside and out, always a good sign in my book.

We just tried Malbec this past week for first time....did a pick up during the pandemic. They operate very safely as they advertise during these challenging times...well done. Food was solid right from the terrific appetizers (don't miss the Empanadas...really loved the Ham & Cheese one in particular but all three varieties we had were wonderful) through the Steaks (good size, very tasty in their preparation) to the really memorable Tres Leches cake. We'd go back for that cake alone! We also shared an order of their homemade Fettucini with the Walnut Pesto Sauce. We'd go back for that alone as well....several family members still raving about that today. We want to go back when the pandemic is over as the atmosphere inside looked very nice as does the Society Hill neighborhood.

In a beautiful safe area of Philly a historic building housing an authentic Argentine Steakhouse. Tira de Asado was delicious and perfectly grilled. Mushroom empanadas were excellent. The house Malbec was very good, but slightly smallish pour. Ravioli with pesto was excellent and garlicky. Wonderful ambiance.

I joined my friends as pescatarian since there are some fish options. I ordered the sea bass and actually the dish was a tiny code fish and not sea bass! Outrageous!. It was well overpriced as 40$. My friends as well were disappointed as there steaks were served cold

Fabulous neighborhood spot. Great food, service and ambiance. The martinis and oysters are excellent! Service is knowledgeable and attentive. Great bar.

We have been here so many times, and they never disappoint. The food quality and flavor is outstanding and we love the service and attention to detail. We will definitely be returning in a few weeks.

Went here with several colleagues from a work training and was not disappointed. The location is lovely, a little cozy but that is okay when you are in beautiful Society Hill. Started with a glass of Malbec that was very good. We were served three sauces and bread for the table all house made and delicious. Tried the oysters, very good and presented lovely. Entrée was steak with mashed potatoes and the steak was cooked perfectly. There were many items to choose from on the menu but I came here for steak. Staff was very friendly, the owner asked how we heard about the restaurant. Overall great location, really good food and worth a visit.

very nice food. ok service. great desert. Original cozy set-up. I would avoid the Ribeye and porterhouse, pasta but go for the traditional argentine meat

We were a group of 12 people eating at this restuarant in the early evening. There was a good range of choices, not only steaks, and we were served prompty. The prices seemed reasonable.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! We went for a romantic birthday celebration and everything exceeded our expectations. From start to finish we felt pampered and well taken care of. We had a bottle of wine prepurchased for us a surprise from a family member, and the presentation was excellent. Don't skip the empanadas - the spinach & cheese was even better than the first time we ordered it. Dessert is a must - get the tres leches crepes - delicious. Everything for dinner is delicious, you can't go wrong with any choice. I highly recommend dining on Sunday night vs Saturday night. We've been both nights, and Sunday is MUCH quieter and low-key. Saturday they are rocking and rolling, as expected. Sit at Table 1!

We ate at an Argentinian Steakhouse while on vacation in Mexico, and loved the food so much we immediately started looking for one back home. This place is just as good as our vacation spot! Ask for table #1, and ask for Brenda. The table is comfy, and Brenda is the best! Everything we've tried on our two visits has been delicious. I especially enjoy the steak w/ 2 fried eggs on top. The quality of the meats is top notch, and so delicious. I can't recommend this place enough!

Great experiance. Excellent food, service in a very pretty place. Top quality steaks grilled expertly. Ordered medium and medium well filets, both came out at the right temperature. Appetizers, sides and desert we great as well. Their signature cocktail Tango is very tasty.

In a colonial setting of cobblestone streets and the elegance of the 18th century, this place is a winner! The friendly knowledgeable staff, the excellent, if limited selection of foods; the great Malbec wine list...add this place to your bucket list in Philadelphia. And go on a Wednesday evening so parking in Head House Square is fee after 5:00 as an added incentive. My wife and I love our Churassco skirt steaks that were seasoned and cooked to perfection, (medium rare and slice it thin!). The complimentary bread and condiments were a nice touch. Our choice of wines was a Malbec - Elsa Bianchi served in a serious wind glass. Nice addition to Olde Philadelphia!

My girlfriend and I found this place while searching for a steak house. Placed in "Old City" it's a great location with cobblestone streets near popular South St. Relaxed and traditional atmosphere just like in Buenos Aires! The service was amazing, Diego was very attentive and very helpful with our questions. We had delicious Empanadas, Perfectly cooked steak Churasco you can cut with a butter knife, and amazing Salmon a la Parrilla. Definitely try the Crepes for dessert! Great choice for date night or dinner with friends, especially if you enjoy wine and steak!

The occasion was a 40th Birthday partly for my daughter-in-law. So food items were already arranged. Great empanadas and grilled meats and good wine. Only negative was that service was quite slow.

Amazing food with a great selection that made me homesick. My only recommendation would be to add alfajores to the desert menu.

I am Argentinian and let me tell you... THEY HAVE THE BEST STEAK HERE! Great food, big plates, variety of flavors and they are always trying to improve the service! Drinks are amazing and everyone there is polite, happy and helpful with everything! YOU DEFINITELY HAVE YOU GO !

Decided to try this establishment. Authentic Argentine recipes and food. If you have a group get a pitcher of sangria. Food was very good and service was great. Would recommend.

Restaurant run by Argentinians and the meat is obviously excellent. Kind and impeccable service, prices in line with the quality.

This restaurant was a real pleasure to find. The our waiter Phil really made or meal very enjoyable. The owner makes his way to the tables and you are made to feel that he really takes pride in boss offerings. The meal was exceptional from the appetizers through espresso and dessert. Highly recommend this place.

Good was superb and atmosphere relaxed. Great steak and fabulous wines, what more can you ask for! Parking isn't the greatest but once you get situated and the food journey begins you forget about parking concerns.
Okay food - Ridiculously POOR service
Restaurant is VERY dark....TOO dark. We were a large party of 8. Our reservation was at 7pm and we were seated promptly. Drink order TAKEN at 7:20pm. After I notice other tables seated AFTER us already have drinks. Drinks arrive...and we ask to order. Food comes and its okay. NO one checks back to see if were happy for 25 minutes. Check comes and waiter actually apologizes for poor service and at the same time tells us gratuity is already on the check!!! SERIOUSLY!!!??? You guessed it ....20%!!! Insulting!!! Food way too expensive for what we had and service embarrassing !!!
