Great spot

By alidaylily |

This restaurant is located in the Seaport district. We gave our name and were told a 30 minute wait and our table was ready in about 25 minutes. While I had trouble with the menu, due to dietary restrictions and they are unwilling to substitute, I did end up having the french toast that was delicious. It was more like a dessert but still good. It was very filling. My husband had a burger and he was very satisfied with that. It was a nice spot for lunch. Our server was very good.

Dinner with friends by the ocean

By MaraMara M |

We had wonderful time by the ocean and had several different plates. Everything was really tasty. Except for the ribs, they were a bit dry. And alao desert menu was a little bit odd, and not so tasty

Delicious Dinner with Stunning Views

By Kristin K |

The restaurant has a lovely open feel to it, with extensive floor to ceiling windows around the outside for stunning views of San Diego Bay. We enjoyed and shared all of our delicious dishes including the crab cakes, a burrata salad, and a vegan meatball dish. We were treated to a lovely sunset...

Great food, great location

By Lonia |

The food was very good, the service was great. There is one thing that bothered me and I have to say something. The young lady who took us to the table and gave us our menus had this horrible looking nose ring that made me want to throw up every time I looked at her. It was very disturbing to me and yet I could not stop looking at her. I couldn’t believe that she is allowed to wear that hideous thing while working with people!!! I find it very offensive. I’m sure you have some kind of a dress code, don’t you??? You would not allow your patrons to come in half naked ? Maybe I would like her better if she was wearing no top??? I’m sorry for telling you this but her nose thins is so obnoxious, you can’t not notice. For that reason I only gave a 3 star rating

Fantastic coffee and employees.

Great spot for breakfast

By Daniel H |

Walked to Malibu Farm from our hotel for breakfast. Coffee and almond milk latte were outstanding. I’m a coffee snob and the black coffee served was full bodied and flavorful. We split the Surfer Rancheros and it was fabulous with veggies and a few sweet potatoes. Breakfast burritos looked great too. Trio of Hot sauces made the dish with the chipotle being my favorite and habenero a close 2nd. Service was great and view of the bay gorgeous. Don’t miss this place if you’re in San Diego.

Organic and lovely

The food is organic and well prepared. It does not have a great variety but the selections are amazing. Service is good and the seating and location are great.

Great experience

By Maureen W |

Great view, service and food! We stopped in as part of a Seaport Village visit. Loved the lobster sliders, Brussels sprout salad and classic nachos.

Go elsewhere. There's better choices

By tinathetoad70 |

The food was so so for many in my party. I got the chicken that was outstanding, as were the short ribs. The Hangar steak was tough. The halibut was cold, and tasteless; totally devoid of seasoning. We would have said something, but the waitress never came back except to deliver the bill. The hummus platter and coconut ceviche appetizer were good. The atmosphere is cute, but stark. They should have the place enclosed a bit for weather. We were under a heater, but it was so hot to the pointe of being unbearable. The seating is not great. It's basically a picnic table. Having older people crawl onto a bench is not great. I asked for a different table when we got there, but they said those are not for a party of 7. We ate at a lot better restaurants than this.

Great place for sunset!

By Isabel |

Showed up without reservations on a weekend night at sunset. Still no problem getting an interior table and being served quickly. Food was fantastic, and 2 of us are celiacs.

First and last visit

By Lee P |

Malibu Farm is wildly overpriced for what you get. Our food arrived cold—like it had been sitting around. The mahi-mahi showed up in a literal pool of water, and everything around it was cold, as if it had been plated an hour earlier. The salad with salmon was so plain it was basically tasteless (the salmon itself was fine, but that’s about it). The vibe didn’t help. For the prices they charge, the ambiance felt more like a Chipotle than a restaurant you’d go out of your way for. Worst part: front-of-house was unprofessional and acted like guests with reservations were an inconvenience. No thanks. Definitely not coming back.

Delicious seafood

By AymanPhD |

I was in San Diego for a business conference. I came here right around 4pm. It was dinner menu time. I just got the fish of the day. It was really good. The view was stunning.

Busy, but plenty space

By Pelagius_Redivivus |

In the precincts of the Grand Hyatt hotel, it was good for sandwiches and drinks. There was some vegetarian choice, although the menu wasn't extensive. We were able to sit outside, which was pleasant.

Over-priced and over-rated...particularly for breakfast

By Donald S |

Soooooo over-priced. For the amount of money you're going to spend, go across the street and go to the Grand Hyatt. They (the Grand Hyatt) offer a full buffet, with eggs cooked anyway you want them, assorted omelets (along with omelet specials of the day). I had their (Malibu Farm) French Toast (no meat included) and coffee. It costs ninety dollars for two people to eat a sub-standard breakfast. I walked out shaking my head and asking my wife "What did we eat?" If we weren't on vacation, I would have never gone, but I expected so much more than to help pay rent on the building. Over-priced and over-rated...particularly for breakfast. Skip it altogether. Obviously breakfast is not their forte'.

Great brunch place

Excellent service drinks and food. The view of the water is great. Highly recommend for a brunch and a relaxing day out with family

One Bad Apple Ruined our Evening

By Charlene A |

We traveled from Indiana to San Diego for our granddaughter's graduation trip July 7-12. Enjoyed the food two times for dinner and two for breakfast. service was great, BUT!!!!!!! I asked for Table 54 for our dinner reservation, gave her a nice tip for noting that we wanted it for that special night, and guess what? We arrived at 5p and three people had just been plunked there and were just looking over their menus. The someone with a HUGE nose ring could have cared less that we had been promised that table 24 hours earlier - in person. She mealy-mouthed around about how they couldn't promise anyone anything and blah, blah, blah - did NOT care one bit. This is NOT COOL. Our darling server comped one dessert, but none of that mess was his fault. I am totally disgusted with that woman. She knew better and chose to not honor the message in the reservation. I've managed 80 people for forty years; that one would be gone yesterday.

Wedding Venue

By Janet E |

We had our wedding in the Marina & Pond Room and it was a great experience overall. Riley was excellent at communicating throughout the planning process and made sure everything stayed organized. We brought in all of our own decorations and flowers, and the venue was very open and flexible with how we chose to decorate. The atmosphere was beautiful and felt open and welcoming. We had around 60 guests, which fit comfortably in the Pond Room for the ceremony and the Marina Room for dinner. Initially, we were told we would need to order our own chairs for the ceremony, which we did. Later, we found out that using the venue’s benches was an option. It would have been helpful to know that earlier, but in the end, we were glad we went with the chairs—they looked elegant and worked well for the setting. The bartenders and waitstaff were fantastic, and the appetizers, salad, and salmon were all delicious. However, we did have a specific request for the steak to be cooked medium, but it came out rare. Unfortunately, some guests found it too undercooked and didn’t eat it. Additionally, there was a long wait time between the courses, which threw off our timeline for the rest of the night and delayed some of the planned events. For dessert, we were especially excited about the cakes as we are dessert fans—we had ordered nine, each serving up to ten people, to ensure everyone had a choice between chocolate and carrot cake. We opted for mini bites instead of slices, based on a recommendation we received after we had already made that decision. Sadly, the mini bites were incredibly small and underwhelming. A standard slice of cake from the restaurant is usually tall, satisfying, and you can easily get at least 10 bites out of it. In comparison, the mini bites were so small and flat that I could fit up to three in my mouth at once. It seemed like only one cake’s worth of bites was served, which left guests wanting more or did not get any at all and were highly unsatisfied with dessert which we feel should be the best part of dinner that everyone looks forward to having at a wedding. My mother and mother in law as well as others told us the next day none of them received cake which was very disappointing to hear after paying over $700 on cake. We are all still wondering where the rest of the cakes went… In hindsight, we would have chosen traditional slices or brought in a custom cake from outside. Aside from the steak and dessert issues, we still gave the place 5 stars because everything else was great. The venue provided a beautiful setting and an overall enjoyable experience for our wedding day.

It’s not a farm and it’s not in Malibu

By genghlislive |

We wanted to find somewhere to eat close to the Marriott Marquis Marina and found this place. Lovely interior and atmosphere plus great service. They have some gluten free options but cannot guarantee no cross contamination. Only downside was it is not cheap.

Fashionista

By iRoby61 |

Definitely fashionable and well organized. Beautiful environment, between the iconic and the refined. Service is good, even with the place full. Refined background music. And the food? Yeah, we're always talking about a restaurant. Original and interesting proposals and good what I chose and that came to the table. The bar is also good, another highlight of the place. The bill is fair in the end. I recommend it. Roby

Convention traffic

By 573dk9999 |

This place is a few blocks from the Convention Center and has a steady stream of groups with name tags looking for lunch. If you are able, avoid dates with large conventions in town, we waited 25 minutes to be seated. The food was worth the wait, I had the fish tacos with a grilled sea bass filet and a lot of extras. No problem with the make-it-yourself aspect of the tacos, but the tortillas were tiny. My companion had the lobster sliders which were also excellent. We had a nice table outside with a good view. The service was good. It is a fairly large place and there seems to be plenty of help.

Great Vegan Options, Challenging Check-Ins

By Dylan L |

Overall good restaurant with excellent bayfront water views. Excellent vegan food choices. The one rub is if there is a weight and there usually is on weekends, the hosts/hostess will take your mobile number and text you when your table is ready. On a recent visit when I approached the host stand and waited while they seated a party reporting they had been texted ahead of me, two different parties subsequently walked up and got seated ahead of me. I complained to the hostess and she replied, "Everyone will get seated", but that was no help when I thought I was waiting in line to be seated after waiting for forty-five minutes for a table. I felt completely invisible to the hostess and the other parties. Pro Tip: make sure you walk up and interrupt the hostess no matter what they are doing and tell them you were texted and you and your party are ready to be seated!

This restaurant is a tourist trap, horrible food, expensive, undisclosed fees and charges, zero customer service

By Henry P |

Tourist trap this has to be one of the worst culinary experiences in my life, this place is in a beautiful location with a great view, but that is where it stops and goes in a steep downhill. Food is horrible, chef tries to be contemporary and only came up with « horrible combinations «  not a single item in the menu is savory. It is difficult to find anything where all the ingredients sound right. then the 20% forced gratuity if your group is 6 or more even if only 4 show up you pay 20%. parking validation is only partial, has stupid policies as: « cannot divide the check into multiple credit cards, surprise fees for eating a birthday cupcake in the stupid place they charged $5.00 to all not only the people tasting the stupid cupcake, rude manager or should I say assistant manager her name is Mckenna Manke (the worst customer service) and horrible attitude. It is a shame because the location is great but nothing else is a good experience there. WATCH OUT!!!

Food and service great, just don’t use the bathrooms

By Johnprd |

Nice new addition to Sea Port in San Diego. Food is tasty and presented well. Service is great and the place is beautiful with a great location. That is the good. Now the bad, the restroom is disgusting. The waste bin is overflowing and floor needs attention, sticky and who knows with what. I am surprised that any staff person going in to use it leaves without at least making sure it is cleaned. As I left, I spoke with the host at the front. I said as beautiful and food and place is, you would think the restroom would be taken care of like the rest of the place. Here is the kicker. She said "the restroom is not theirs". I said wow but it reflects on this place. Plus, you have to go in the door of the place, to not like it is readily available for the public. The main door you go in has the name of the place and hours. You pass thru and turn right to the restroom. I also didn't see a sign for restrooms pointing there. I saw other sign to other public restrooms near there. While I was waiting for someone, I noticed the hostess mentioned something to a coworker. He went to the men’s room and spent less than a minute in there. Not sure what he did but it was not cleaning up the room. Also, I have used the public restrooms in Sea Port just around the corner and it's better maintained than this one. I was amazed on her smirk smile and "don't care s"attitude". Actually shocked because the rest of the staff is great service. I am a local and this is the first time I went there. I will think twice about returning or I will use the public restroom outside. Side note: When I was speaking to the host, a couple was leaving at the same time. A woman said are you talking about the restroom? I said yes. She said yes it's bad. So, it was not just the men's room but women's as well.

Lovely dinner on the water

By Galilayo79 |

I'm really glad we found Malibu Farm. It had exactly the laid back vibe that we were looking for, and the food and service were top notch. Our server, Ian, made great recommendations on portions and shareables, and we enjoyed the nachos, burrata salad, and green tacos. The cocktails were also delicious. It's a beautiful space, filled with light, right on the water.

Great Location and Views

By Mr Mario |

Located on the marina boardwalk, Malibu Farm is a nostalgic looking building from the outside with an open air pleasant space on the inside. We dropped in for lunch and prices are reasonable (for Seaport) and food was tasty and well prepared. Fish of the day cooked to perfection but for some unknown reason they pour what appears to be a cup of tasteless yellow purée around it. The fish itself was perfect and you don’t need to smother it. Service was fast and friendly, good option if other nearby places are packed.

Just ok

By hobbyistravel |

We ate here as a party of 7 including grandparents, grandkids, parents. The menu was varied and sounded delicious. The food when it came out probably would have been delicious but sadly, the egg dishes were cold. Given that we had little kids, we didn't want to return it and wait again for it to be served. But it was disappointing. Even more so was that I asked for a second cup of coffee (latte) to be made extra hot and that, too, turned up lukewarm. The waitress was nice and attentive, and we liked her. The hostess greeted us with "you can't be seated until your whole party are here" and then she turned away to chat to her co-worker, which was a bit harsh since older and younger members were proceeding slowly up the ramp at the time, and we didn't feel especially welcomed. So I might return because of the menu, but if I got another round of eggs that had been sitting out for a while since being cooked I'd send them back next time.

Can't beat the views ....

By Jerome G |

Can't beat the views from here. Inside and outside seating are available. Varied menu with a little of everything, all well prepared and composed. Hummus, Caesar salad, ceviche, burger, etc were excellent. The young girls enjoyed the juices and smoothies.

Such a good diner went back for lunch!

By BajanFan |

We dined twice at Malibu Farms in San Diego, once for dinner and again for lunch. We enjoyed our meals both times. The vegetarian coconut curry was so good. I want to try and re-create it at home. Very good. For lunch I tried their taco trio (Red, Yellow, Green). These were pretty amazing though I found the yellow a bit too spicy and that is saying something since I love spice. Service was good and the location and view was very nice.

Can't beat the views ....

Great view over the harbor. Good, fresh food. Swedish pancakes with their special sauce was a good pick. Beef burger was also amped up with great toppings. Lemonade was perfect, avoid the green tea.

Terrible service, average cuisine at best

By SnapSter56 |

Horrendous service! Waited barely present , food came before drinks , asked someone if we could get something and was told “maybe it’s better to ask your server” I said we have not seen him in 30 minutes, and she says “sorry” and walks away… then they auto ad 20% tip… this place is a a tourist trap! So disappointed

It turned out better than expected

By MominOC |

this location has parking issues FYI. The menu was not too interesting to us with a vegan twist but our choices of tacos both steak and chicken worked out better than expected. Carrot appetizer was amazing! Clean minimalist decor right on the water was very pleasant.

Don’t order fish of the day…..

By Laura V |

View is beautiful, our server was great. We had the crab cakes and fish of the day (halibut.) The crab cakes were tiny and had lots of filling. Our fish was not hot and had a weird bright yellow purée with overcooked broccoli, my husband can eat about anything but the fish was awful. We sent the fish back and they comped the fish after some haggling. Maybe an off night or poor ordering on our part.

Not a Nice Place at All

By bahamareef |

This place is not at all run well. And they are rude. If you go here, expect to be kicked off of your table, several times, after being told there was open seating. It's strange, there are all kinds of "staff" walking around, all with a different idea of what is going on . After being told to use bar service, it was basically non-existent, my husband stood at the bar for 20 minutes trying to order and pay for two simple drinks. Almost to the point of prejudice or something. A great view with nothing behind it. Avoid.

Wonderful time, Great food and view and the best server we have ever had.

By traveltheworld012 |

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, we walked over from our hotel for dinner. This is a very nice restaurant, great menu choices. We were seated outside on the upper level, deck with a roof. Beautiful view of the bay from here. I don't remember what we had for dinner, but I certainly remember our server. She moved here from Seattle. I have never had such fantastic service. She was so personable, friendly and made the evening so much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in San Diego.

Nice bar/restaurant

I met a colleague here for happy hour on the patio bar. The view is great, and the service was great as well. The location in the harbor area is perfect.

Definitely will be Back

By jackiebr63 |

We walked into this restaurant on a beautiful sunny San Diego afternoon at 1:00 pm and got a fantastic table on the deck looking out at the water to multiple directions. It was just perfect. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and I found my ‘Vegan Salad’ with added grilled shrimp excellent! Definitely one of the better salads I’ve had recently. So good and nutritious filled with fresh lettuce, beets, avocado slices, & garbanzo beans. My husband had their curry place with tofu, our friends had the crab cakes and the burrata salad. Our server was wonderful. Definitely will come back as the choices were many for those of us who are GF and or vegetarian, pescatarian or vegan!

Beautiful bayside views from this excellent restaurant.

By PeteInDC |

If you’re re in San Diego, don’t miss Malibu Farm! The service here is top-notch, especially thanks to Ricky and Leo who made our experience unforgettable. They were friendly, attentive, and really made us feel at home. The drinks were excellently crafted with care and perfect for enjoying on the outdoor second-floor bar. The view over the bay is absolutely spectacular, offering a stunning backdrop while you sip and relax. This place is truly a hidden gem, and I highly recommend checking it out when you’re in the area!

Overpriced, bad food, bad service, and there was a woman sitting next to us that wouldn’t shut up.

By Vindy D |

The only thing this place has going for it is the view. But they put the table so that only one person can see the view. The food was terrible. It was high priced and we complained about some things and nothing was done about it. When we told the waiter, it wasn’t any good we didn’t get anything back for it. Avoid it all cost. And I mean cost.

Disappointed by Host Attitude Despite Great Food

By Fangfang Z |

As a tourist mom visiting Seaport Village with my son, we were excited to try Malibu Farm. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by cold and dismissive service. We were seated at a cramped corner table despite many open seats nearby. When I politely asked for a slightly larger table so my son could sit beside me, the server firmly refused — we ended up adjusting the table ourselves. The food was excellent — the watermelon juice was fresh, and the fish tacos exceeded expectations. Still, the server never smiled or acknowledged us, even when I tipped 22% as prompted. No “thank you,” no eye contact — just indifference. Being treated this way as an Asian mother traveling alone with a child was disheartening. I wasn’t asking for VIP treatment — just basic decency.
