Not Going Back

By Luiv2Vacation |

The food was so-so, edible but not great. Price was good - relatively cheap. Service was very pleasant, but very slow. I had to send my chicken and dumplings back to be reheated because it took so long to get to me and that took even longer, so the second time it was still not hot. The sweetheart waitress apologized and said someone else was supposed to pick it up for her (They were very busy) - I just ate it. The restaurant is dirty. The ceiling looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a decade with dust hanging in clumps from the textured paint (see photo). If the dining room is this dirty, what does the kitchen look like? I will never go back. I wish I had ordered to go so I didn’t see it.

DELICIOUS!

By Matt M |

Pure Southern comfort food at its very tastiest. Terrific service -- always fast and always sweet as pie. Best greens in Texas, too!

Coffee!

By Dallastx98 |

They’re the most consistent breakfast spot! And the coffee will leave you zinging! Sometimes I’ll stop in before 2:45 and get one to go, for an afternoon pick me up.

Great Homestyle Cooking!

By Christal W |

This was my best breakfast out of 3 days in Dallas. If you like crispy slab bacon this is the place. I had ham, 2 OM eggs, hash browns, very tender biscuits, and a side of crispy bacon and OJ. I ate it all! It was all delicious! Didn't get to try dinner but I highly recommend this place for homestyle breakfast!

Biscuits out of this world

By rkclmr05 |

Best biscuit ever -- so fluffy and light. Yum! Very quick service! Great orange juice! Consistent breakfast -- I'm a fan!

Just another diner

By Jeremy L |

The wife really wanted to stop here on a trip to Dallas. As big as Dallas is, I wish we would have gone somewhere else instead. I'm sure the locals love it, but too me it was just another diner. I've been to better, I've been to worse.

American authentic food

By Ash0518 |

Great place for authentic food, the food was delicious, also the coffee, great staff and service , i recommend it for breakfast .

Diner food

By Laurelwright |

It is just what you would expect of a diner. Don’t think you are going to count calories here but if you want comfort food, open roast beef sandwich with gravy, meatloaf etc. I do not recommend the chili. No matter how they might doctor it, it was hot dog chili from a can.

Dad's dr appt

By wendethummel |

What a great place to eat! We are headed to a dr appt and just needed to grab some breakfast. Little did we know how much fun we were about to have. Alicia made our breakfast so much fun and the dynamics in this restuarant are so much fun! We will definitely be back!

The hosts are very rude ...

By Melinda W |

The waitresses are good. YOU need to fire your hosts. They don't even talk to you and greet you properly. COLLECTING a paycheck.. my dog can do a better job!

Wowee

By Yvan G |

Who knew you can deep fry chicken livers and add creamy gravy. Simply Devine. The staff have that super southern friendliness. Love love it.

Very Good Place and Very Popular With Locals

By Jeffrey P |

We were on a "drive around" and passed through Forney. We saw Mama's Daughter's Cafe and went in. There is plenty of street parking outside. The restaurant is large and open inside. It is obvious from the people in the cafe that it is very popular with the locals, always a good sign is our book. The hostess greeted us immediately and took us to a booth. The very nice server quickly came to take our drink order and returned with them. I had the Mana's Special Number 2 with pancakes. My wife had a Ham and Cheese Omelet with a biscuit. The food came promptly and was very appetizing. The pancakes were nice and light and the eggs cooked perfectly. My wife's Omelet was also perfect. My only complaint was that the server let the coffee get low several times. We were there just before Thanksgiving and the restaurant bakes pies to go. We did not taste the pies but judging by the volume of to go orders they must be great. Mama's Daughter's was so good we returned several days later and had another very good experience. Great place!!!

Nostalgic

By TLS56852 |

I'm at a place in life that I quite enjoy the nostalgic! If you're looking for a healthy meal this might not be the place. :) However, if you're looking for a from scratch Grandma style meal, I'd advise you to give this place a visit. If you leave this place hungry, it's your own fault. My friend and I shared two breakfast plates. We wanted it all so we decided to get two different things so we could have a taste of everything. Between the two of us, we had eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits (homemade as I said), gravy, pancakes and hash browns. I really wanted a fried pie but we didn't finish what we ordered. Give this place a shot. Take your kids and grandkids. It would be a great Saturday morning memory maker! :) Eating isn't just about the food, it's about the fellowship and experience!

Regular lunch spot

By Hot_Laps |

I go here for lunch a few times a month. Food is traditional comfort diner food. Nothing is over the top spectacular but everything is good. Go early or late to avoid waiting for a table. They also offer take out.

Loved this place

By Turner B |

We visited this place when we were attending a conference and ended up eating here 3 days. This fun place has a gray atmosphere and big menu. My personal recommendations are the pot roast and candied yams. The decoration was fun and spurred so many memories of my mom. Definitely will be back when I'm in Dallas.

Fabulous

By InspectorP |

We came here for lunch, and loved our food! We both had chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. My husband also had turnip greens and I had coleslaw. And we also had cornbread and wheat rolls! The bread was so delicious and fresh! The coleslaw was lightly sweet, and the chicken fried steak was very good. The potatoes were plain, but good. My husband loved the greens - pepper sauce was on the table so they were perfect.

Family diner

By NJHBNH |

You won't be on your diet after eating here. Good chicken fried steak with gravy and black eyed peas and cornbread. Gained 3# but it was worth it. Friendly waiters with good old southern hospitality.

Breakfast is pretty good!

By Eden A |

We went as soon as they opened on a Sunday morning. My husband and I got the eggs, biscuits and gravy and sausage. My kids got the eggs, bacon and pancake. None of us were a fan of the bacon but everything else was delicious! Portions are huge!

Best biscuits ever!

By Sweet_Ginger_Ale |

This diner has excellent biscuits and gravy. I also especially enjoyed the french toast and the iced tea. Service was friendly and prices were a bargain.

Convenient location for shopping wholesale

By Southernroadwarriors |

Some friends told us about it and we went for lunch. You could call it a meat and three. We got the specials chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken with sides of baked squash casserole, green beans, macaroni and cheese. They first came out with rolls and cornbread, both of which were yummy. It was super busy but service was great and kept our drinks full. Plenty too eat and tasty, and the restrooms were clean too. Next time I am that way in Dallas i will eat there again.

Bad service but Good food

By Williamsland |

We stopped in for a late breakfast on a Monday, they weren't busy and they instructed us to seat ourselves, which was fine but all of the tables were dirty so we just kinda stood by one waving our hand in the air to have someone come clean the table. Once the table was clean we waited nearly 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. When my coffee arrived my cup had lipstick all over it. Once that finally was resolved we waited, and waited some more. Another table seated after us was promptly attended to and we continued to wait. Finally a young guy came by after he noticed the menu's still on the table & took our orders. Food was brought out soon after. The food was ok, I had the #3, 2 eggs over hard, hash browns, sausage & biscuits & gravy, carbs galore! The biscuits were good like soda biscuits but light and airy, the gravy was ok, eggs didn't have any flavor to them and the hash browns rivaled any I'd pour from a bag and cook in the oven. The portion was huge and should have been split but instead I left 1/2. I wasn't crazy about the place, as a diner it should have the charm and service for repeat service when the food isn't above standard but it didn't and therefore I have no desire to return.

Unprofessional Waitress!

By B F |

This place has Good food but I wish I could say the same thing about the waitress that took care of us. I was there to have a business meeting and Breakfast with my client. During the whole time we were there it looked like she wanted us to eat and get out. I could not even conduct my business with my client. Once we got ready to leave, she came over and told us you are leaving good because we are getting busy for lunch. We had not made it out of the sitting area when she was already setting up the table. I still gave her a tip but her service was not appreciated at all. I will not be coming back or taking my clients to eat here anymore. Maybe putting a sign that tells you Only for Eating not for business lunches.

Home Style Cooking

By happytrails13 |

If you want the most delicious home style food this is the place! We live in Oklahoma but when we are down in Texas visiting my Daughter and her family I always request a trip to this restaurant. The food is like what my Granny use to fix. I always get the chicken fried steak. The rolls they serve are huge and delicious! Even though we are stuffed we split a piece of pie. My favorite is anything with meringue on top.

Fast service and good food

By Hallie T |

We like to come here because we always get a great breakfast for a good price and the service is always fast good.

Wonderful Food, Ok Service

By HappyTreesforBob |

We decided to make a stop and we’re glad we did when it comes to the food. Good variety and very well priced! There’s definitely something for everyone. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly at all and we rarely saw her throughout the course of our meal. When we asked for the ticket, she dropped it past on her way to another table without saying a word. Who knows, might have just been a bad morning for her, but it certainly takes nothing away from how good the food was. Would certainly go again with the hopes of a friendlier face!

Good home cooking

By S K |

Delicious place for both lunch and breakfast. Had the chicken and dressing okra baked squash all is great. Has some of the best yeast rolls.

Sunday lunch

By Carolyn M |

Seated immediately.. asked for water with extra lemon. Waitress brought a bowl of fresh sliced lemon. Big deal to me. Food was fast, hot and wonderful. Rolls and cornbread fresh out of the oven. So friendly and comfortable environment. She offered extra to go containers and fresh bread. I tipped very well.

Excellent selection, fun decor, prices absolutely marvelous. Help is absolutely old school, friendly and fun.

By Mauryne S |

My Gosh! I did not know I could step back in time like this diner. Decor is marvelously unique (typical of a mom and pop operation of the 50's and 60's), help is most friendly and welcoming, food selection is like I have not seen in years, prices are refreshingly affordable, and we will dine here over and over. I call it family favorite, for adults or kids, prices are unbelievably reasonable, selection is the best I have seen anywhere for years. It is step back in time and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best place I have tried in years and years. I had a club sandwich out-of-this-world, daughter had a cheeseburger and we both agreed they were the likes of nothing we had enjoyed so much in many years. KUDOS to Mama's Daughter's, the help, the prices, the food, decor and help! Keep it up! This is one of our NEW FAVORITES! Don't miss out, try it soon and often!!!!!

Not a better breakfast spot in town!

By Andrew and Cait D |

We sat down at 10:00 and didn't get up until they shut down! We ate with another couple we had not seen in multiple years and that they'd recommended as a great breakfast spot. They were right. The portions are great for the price and the service was amazing across the board. Recommend to anyone wanting a home style breakfast while in Dallas.

Old Fashioned Diner

By Cheryl H |

This place is my friend's favorite diner for lunch. The food is traditional. We had what I would call 'the blue plate' special: an entre & 3 sides with rolls/corn bread. She had meatloaf & I had liver *& onions. She was happy with hers & my liver was ok. I would go with her again because that's what you do for friends.

Classic comfort food.

By Elizabeth K |

Can't go wrong here for classic comfort food. I ordered an omelet for lunch and it was just right. The hash browns were just right. My fellow eaters ordered chicken fried steak. Be prepared for a wait to get in, but it's not long. Sassy wait staff.

Excellent excellent

By jfaulk |

The original location is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I have never been to the other restaurants. The food is excellent and the service is legendary for being great.

Good food - like a warm hug!

By Zamigaos |

We were staying close to this place and happened to drive by it on the way downtown. I have to say it doesn't look like much from the outside. But, it got great reviews on TA and the parking lot was packed on a recent weekend. (It may look like just a diner, but the parking lot was packed with Mercedes and BMW on Sunday morning!) When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and shown a table. You walk in and feel like you are "home." Everyone seems to know each other and several patrons were getting hugs from the servers. But, you did not feel out of place if you weren't a "regular." The inside is like a true diner. Not decorated to feel like a diner, but it is an actual old-school diner with a pie cabinet of amazing looking treats. We were there for breakfast and had the standard eggs and bacon. But, you have to have the biscuits . They were so fluffy and just melted in your mouth. And, some of the best ham ever! And, when the check arrives you will not believe how reasonable the prices are. What a fun experience and great food. We will be back, for sure!

Bring Your Appetite

By EBJAXN |

The food at Mama's is delightful. You have to try the fried pork chop! It tastes like it came out of my grandmothers kitchen. Vegetables are very good. I promise you will not leave hungry!

Great food and prices!

By MommaB1992 |

If you're looking for good food to start a busy day in Dallas, this is the place! The prices are excellent, the food is plentiful and it's your fault if you leave hungry. Service was wonderful, decorated in a neat style that feels homey. We could tell many of the folks were regulars from the conversations and the way they were greeted by the waitress. Total cost was around $20 for both of us and we couldn't clean our plates. A definite place to return to.

Just like Mama's

By G N |

We get take-out at least twice a month, when this moma does not feel like cookin'. BEST potato salad, carrots and cabbage Tuesday. I prefer the chicken fried chicken. Chicken and dressing is also fab, hubby likes the roast beast and son prefers Denver omelette .

A Great Find

By USE_TON_TX |

I was in town for a conference and looked for places near my hotel. We headed in one direction and came upon this restaurant. The menu was full of great 'home cooking" items. We each had a chicken fried steak with cream gravy. It came with three sides. I had fried okra, baked squash and mashed potatoes with gravy and my friend had sweet potatoes, pears and fried okra as well. It was delicious and I would recommend it to anyone.

Best breakfast ever

By sparkle p |

We had the best breakfast ever this morning. If your yearning for a down home meal then check them out. The waitress was super friendly and eager to serve us. I had 2 deep fried pork chops,2 eggs over easy,2 biscuits and gravy & a waffle with pecans served with warm syrup. It was absolutely amazing!

Great food and service

By Tanya |

After being verbally abused at The Slow Bone, we went to Mamas Daughters Diner, down the street. The joint was packed but the staff was outstanding and went above and beyond to make our meal memorable for Father's Day. The food was great and our waitress was beyond reproach.

Tasty food, good informal atmosphere

By Jacob G |

We had a nice lunch here. Food is very tasty and abundant. Got seated right away, and the service was quick and accurate.

Home cooking at it's finest.

By JandZmom |

Not sure what you are hungry for? Just close your eyes and point, everything on the menu is great. From breakfast for lunch to the daily specials. The rolls are so soft, warm and yeasty. Chicken fried steak with a real crust and cream gravy. No premade item on this menu. Love the chicken livers, I know, not everyone's idea of good food but if you love livers you're going to love Mama's Daughters. Great veggies and real mashed potatoes. And please save room for pie. But if you don't, there is always a to go container waiting to go home with you. The waitresses have been here for a long time and do their job with precision and laughter. You can't make a bad choice here.

Finally a deal!

By Jodi39819 |

Fabulous cafe walking distance from the hotel. Super breakfast with the fluffiest biscuits and extremely affordable!

Great food, especially breakfast, however terrible service!

By Rebecca R |

The food is absolutely awesome. Truly a Breakfast for champions, however they need to work on their service. We asked about 4 different times for our toast, and just kept being ignored. It was a busy day, so maybe that had something to do with it. I'd say work on improving your service and you'll be a top notch breakfast spot.

Good Food, Great atmosphere

By Nancy M |

My son was in town for business at the Hilton Anatole and wanted to eat lunch at a nearby local restaurant. We chose Mama's Daughter's Diner which was a super choice. It's near the Anatole, has a great number of choices of home cooking specials, and is filled with a variety of locals. We each had the meat and 3 lunch special for less than $10.00. I had chicken fried chicken; my son had chicken fried steak. Sides included green salad, black eyed peas, fried okra, potato salad and others. All the food tasted fresh and was good. We enjoyed our lunch and think you would too.

Loved it!

By studiozanzibar |

Looking for breakfast around lunch time and they serve breakfast here all day. Busy, but service was excellent, even with the 86 (?) year old waitress in the sparkly hat and red sunglasses. Friendly atmosphere and funky authentic atmosphere and decor. If I lived in Dallas this would become a hangout.

Good little restaurant for breakfast

By pharmwench2006 |

Decided to eat there because of proximity to the hotel. You can get the usual offerings for breakfast and the food was very good. Prices very reasonable too.

Home cooked style meals

By BRtravel_12 |

Nothing fancy, just great home style cooked meals and wonderful desert pies. Over the years we have eaten here, usually always get one the dinners with sides. Portions are sufficient and food has alway been good. We have always had good service. Just remember this is an old fashion dinner type restaurant Not an all white tablecloth fine dining establishment with valet parking.

Hit the spot!

By Ronny H |

We both woke up craving a home cooked meal and this place hit the spot! The prices were reasonable given the large portions served. The daily specials come with three sides! Delicious!

Great breakfast place

By Tony A |

Stopped in after church and enjoyed a very good breakfast at a reasonable price. I had the #3 and my wife had the veggie omelet - all came out quick and hot. Good coffee and great service!

Some of the Best Comfort Food in Big D!

By John H |

Not only is the food mouthwatering, but the service is incredibly efficient, accurate, & very cordial despite the pace @ which service personnel are required to keep in order to meet the almost continuous line of customers, especially during the usual high volume times of the routine daytime crowd. You will encounter all kinds of people @ Mama’ Daughter: diversity of ethnicity, different types of workers from hard-working construction workers wearing Dickies shirts, blue collar workers, to people wearing suits & ties. And you will also see families having a good time with each other. A great experience to see everyone getting along together, enjoying common ground in good food! What you won’t see is rude or ill-mannered customers, unsettling conflicts, or a passive management style that would tolerate such negative behavior! My favorite meal is the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, fried okra, & homemade rolls. Everything on the menu is good: flavors & textures of menu items bang-on, great plate lunches, & fantastic burgers (all kinds). Presentation of food is thoughtful, but the food is always the star! Another favorite of my wife’s choosing is an incredibly delicious patty melt that I usually sneak a bite of while she is distracted by something related to work or our two grown daughters, one an RN & the other a United States Naval Officer. Kids grow up, but once a parent, always a parent!

Great foo Do!

By wldtravele55 |

We had to wait about 15 minutes because the place was packed, but oh my, worth the wait! Service was fast, they have it down to a science. Great homemade food, no skimping here. + luscious homemede rolls and corn bread and real butter! If I wasn't so full, I'd go back now!

Excellent food and service.

By Flamingojacque |

Excellent food and service. Good old fashioned diner food. Excellent choice for anyone. We will be back.

Good Comfort Food

By Allison B |

I come to Dallas once a year for business. I absolutely love going to Mama's Daughter's Diner for a filling homestyle lunch. Their grilled catfish is the most flavorful catfish I've ever had, the mashed potatoes are real, and their coleslaw is just perfect! If you finish and still have room for dessert, their coconut creme pie is excellent! I would love to try out their breakfast on my next visit!

Super Delicious!

By worleybird98 |

It was the day before Thanksgiving, and we were looking for a breakfast spot before we headed into Dallas to finish our sightseeing. This restaurant is in an industrial section of town, which gives a kind of a sketchy vibe, but don't let that put you off. We were seated quickly, and while we were looking at the menu, we watched as tables towering with pies and other Thanksgiving items were being picked up. With that huge amount of pre-orders, you have to know that the food here is good. My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy, and I got the pecan waffle. My boyfriend loved the sausage gravy, and he actually said that this was the best gravy he's ever eaten. My pecan waffle was fabulous - nice thick, Belgian waffle filled with pecans. As we kept seeing pies getting picked up, we knew it was too late to order one for our own Thanksgiving, but they had pies by the slice so we were able to take two pecan pie slices with us to go. We ate those the next day, and thought we had died and gone to heaven! I wish we lived closer so that we could return to this delicious spot, I would highly recommend you give it a try!

Just like going to Grandma's for b-fast

By Louisa V |

This place was soooo worth it. We happen to get there before a huge line started and was seated right away. The staff were so nice and treated you like family. The food was good ole home cooking and very good. Reasonable prices and you get a ton of food. They have small tables for groups of 2 to 4 and then longer tables and they seat you with other folks. A great experience, we will be back.

Fast and informal

By brookesmom10 |

Ate there twice during my stay at the Anatole. Would go again. You need to be ready to meet new people. the place is crowded and they seat singles next to singles. Everything was great. Cornbread, rolls, gravy all great home cooking. they don't try to be fancy. There is nothing to figure out from the menu. it is what it is. I love it.

Try the chicken fried chicken

By Juan M. L |

If you are in dallas make a stop to mama's and daughters diner you wont regret it. The chicken fried chicken is to die for... And try the biscuits and gravy...

Lunch at the counter

By jjpinney |

I love a good diner, and this one is great! Traditional counter seating and plenty of tables. I sat at the counter. The wait staff was quick and pleasant. The food was wonderful, homemade chicken and dumplings!

Late breakfast

By scott v |

This is definitely a family, old school, hole in the wall diner. Love these type of places. Great menu, fullof just good ole' standard diner fare. Great atmosphere. A lot of locals eating here. Had an omelets. It was pretty darn tasty.

Great breakfast!

By Ingrid C |

Nice friendly staff clean. The breakfast sandwiches or tasty. My kids enjoyed the pancakes and waffles.

Amazing

By Kizerkot9 |

Wonderful old time dinner experiance, it takes you back in time, when everyone knew their neighbors and everyone is sweet to one another, speaking of sweet things make sure you try their pies. Their sandwiches, breakfast, chicken fried stake is as traditional and original as it can be and it's absolutely wonderful xxx love this place!!!

Friendly, good value, nice ambience

By saracml |

This place is a great value and has very friendly staff. They were very attentive...my coffee mug was never more than half empty. There were plenty of regulars, and the staff was so friendly that I felt like a regular too--even though it was my first time. The only downside was they didn't have much fruit available.

Great lunch good ole mommas cooking

By M Brent T |

Went for breakfast and was a little late but had a really good lunch and it was filling up by 12... saw several plates go by that I would get on next trip, but the chicken fried steak was great and the sides were just right seasoned well and quick order to table.. the dessert was looking good but I ate to much to eat any more .. I'll be back

Nice, reasonably priced breakfast

By Emma W |

We went here today for breakfast based on the ratings on trip advisor, and we were not disappointed. We had the biscuits and gravy which were yummy!

Great breakfast.

By bandie101 |

We went to Mama's Daughter's for a late breakfast on a Sunday. We were seated immediately and were promptly greeted at our table. The coffee and omelettes were fresh and well cooked The server was attentive throughout the meal. The biscuits were warm and soft. My daughters pancakes were fluffy and flavorful.

Food going downhill

By Jody S |

I went to eat lunch here and had been here before and it was always good. cornbread is still good. However could not eat much of the meatloaf and navy beans I ordered. Neither were tasty and actually tasted bad.

Awesome breakfast!

By bassadict69 |

You cannot go and not try the cinnamon rolls...they were the most awesome we have ever eaten! The place was packed when we got there which is always a good sign. After about a 10 minute wait, our order was being taken and drinks quickly brought to the table. Everything we had was excellent and will definitely eat here again.

Must Try Dallas Breakfast

By Kay S |

Mama’s Daughter Diner is such a cute pit stop in Dallas. We got a stack of pancakes and the Denver omelet with hash brown to split. It definitely didn’t disappoint. The perfect homemade breakfast to fuel our day of adventure.

Always good dinner food

By jessitexi |

Nor my all time favorite but definitely good when you are in the neighborhood. Also a tradition of my family to come here for lunch. I always got the patty melt. Pretty great. Greasy diner food. Not well salted, but good none the less

Great Diner...lots of food for money

By TOviedo |

Friendly servers, huge menu of diner-stuff. I loved the squash side...think it was called "baked squash" but it was more of a squash casserole. Good fried okra too!

quaint and cute

By RandL101 |

So cute ! The family feel to the little joint was great. The food was very good and hot, served fresh. The coconut cake was fabulous and the coconut pie, I couldn't get enough of...will definitely go back, so glad we found this place.

Good stuff

By TammyA0815 |

Love the atmosphere, food and staff. This is the place to have a good ole southern cooking. Made from scratch type of food from biscuits/gravy, fried egg sandwich, chicken fried steak, homemade gravy, cornbread etc. Pies are excellent even to take home. Enjoy!

Comfort Food!

By Karl B |

If you like comfort food, this is your place! Breakfast is always good and the pot roast is great. The rolls are a little plain and dry. Try the pies. The service is friendly but they do have a tendency to disappear after they deliver your food. It's good for couples and families but I don't think I'd bring a group.

Trying something new

By vicmil |

Me and boobah decided to try something new. We were in the downtown area and decided to stop in. We didn't have to wait long great service the food was outstanding we will definitely be back

In love with Mama's food and words!

By Sanjeev2065 |

Came across this one lunch as walking around near the hotel I was staying. Later I learnt that this one of the three diners and also visited another one nearby. I thought the Southern food, ambience and service were all good. This location had a slightly different feel, but it was great and positive. It was great to see people from all walks - cops, truckers, suits, everyday folk coming in and enjoying the experience as much as me, maybe some even more! Food and service was excellent, with the daily menus offering plenty of choice at lunch times.

southern in Texas

By kingslane |

we sought out this restaurant, and what fun, southern eats; Service was great, Parking easy; the food was just fine

Great cooking in a great atmosphere

By HCN33 |

Just looking around we knew we had found the place! It was all locals. Not touristy, just good folks and good food. Service was great! Worth the trip when you are in Dallas

Great old school diner

By Casher D |

Neat little place. Good home cooking type food. Pork chops were the bomb. Not much parking, but worth the hassle. Fast service.

First time!

By Suszanne M |

Very laid back atmospher. We had breakfast. The biscuits were so tender, melt in your mouth. Cute place reasonable prices.

This place is so bad it get's a Wow, that was BAD!

By Texasscout |

I have been to this place twice. The first time I stopped in on my way to the airport to fly out as I was hoping for simple, easy, homestyle type food. Huge mistake. The food was slow, tasteless, and barely edible. I remember also wondering how if my food was cooked to order, how could it be less than warm? Then when I told the waitress I was trying to catch a flight, she took 20 minutes after we were finished eating to bring the check. On the 2nd attempt (hoping it would be better) I went there for lunch. Again, the food was terrible, cold, tasteless, and barely edible. I usually try to be patient with a restaurant but I will never go to this horrible place again. Absolutely enter at your own risk.

Fun and quick

By rebabee |

This is a popular place and I can see why. The service is fast and friendly. The main thing I liked was the noise level and temperature were perfect. We could actually talk to each other in our booth without shouting over some ridiculous music and I didn't need a sweater because the air conditioning was on frost. The waitress was quick and many people were served in a short time. The atmosphere is good with lots of "mama said" sayings around the room. Food was regular diner fare. Hot and a lot of it!! Also I should add they have homemade hot cornbread and rolls that come to your table in a hurry served with REAL butter instead of nasty spread!

My Favorite Hidden Gem!

By MagDog2020 |

Fast service! Don't worry about having to spend too much time here unless you want to. Staff is very friendly and the food is generous. I ordered chicken fried chicken and my dad ordered a combo that came with 2 chicken fried steaks! So well cooked and fresh! Definitely worth the stop if you're looking for good old fashioned souther food.

One of my favorite stops while in Dallas!

By Emily E |

Stopped in for late breakfast, early lunch around 11 am on a Thursday morning. 3 kids, 2 adults. Suzie Q took great care of us. Large portions, great coffee, diner vibe. 💜💜💜

Long time lunch favorite

By David H |

It's not a fancy building in the fanciest part of town, but the food and service are top notch. It's obvious many patrons are regulars as the waitresses greet them. This isn't fancy fare, but it sure is tasty. We'll seasoned and copious quantities. Wish we still officed down here so I could get more of MaMa's home cooking.

Great diner

Wonderful diner with good service, freshly prepared food and down home service. Can be very crowded without much space between tables. Bathroom was dirty so going with four stars on this one.

Down Home Diner

By wannatravel69 |

Super cute diner with excellent food! We went at about noon on a monday. We both ordered breakfast. The biscuits and gravy was particularly delicious. Then we each had a slice of pie, I had the strawberry banana and my Husband had the fried coconut. They were fantastic!!

Great Diner Food

By Ann T |

On a recent day when my aunt and I were caught in a pop-up storm that altered our dinner plans, Mama's Daughter's seemed the best choice. In Irving, this restaurant is a local institution, serving such well-loved comfort food as liver and onions, meatloaf and chicken fried steak. The sides are a step back to simpler times - turnip greens, okra, and macaroni and cheese head a list of difficult choices. And don't get me started on dessert. Cobblers, pies, pudding and cake. All delicious, so be sure to save room!

Super Speedy

By Sheree E |

The service was great, they had a full house and it seemed like soon as we sat down they took our orders and we were eating. The staff was friendly and very alert on what we the costumers needed and wanted.

Just Simple and Great

By Cary Porter |

Not trying to be anything else but an authentic southern breakfast with genuinely nice hosts and waiters. Southern Charm done right!

Great fun!

By stevendale |

Fun place for any meal. Great food in a very casual atmosphere. Doesn't look like much on the outside. Off the beaten path but not far from Marketplace, Hospitals and Downtown. Went there for breakfast twice and lunch once. Can keep entertained reading the signs of what Mama said.

Having a bad day

By BigDogWillie |

On this day the service was slow, maybe they were having a bad day. All sorts of breakfast choices. Eggs, omelets, pancakes, etc.....Biscuits & gravy good but kinda cold. This is a dive - charging Dallas prices. I like the diner & drive in atmosphere and will go back int he area as it deserves a 2nd chance.

Always good

By abcotur |

If you like breakfast or lunch the old fashioned way . This is the place I guess I have been going there for the last 30 years. The food clean, fresh, abundant and consistent. No surprise ever. Very friendly people they look happy. Sufficient vegetables with your food . Family and business oriented The bill will not break you Sometimes difficult to park.

Pancakes are delish!! My son loved his chicken fried steak and good sized portions!! Great place to eat!!

When you're craving homestyle cooking

By CarolSLC |

Service: Excellent - our server was fantastic. Wait: We got there around noon on a Saturday and as expected, there was a line out the door. There's no one taking names - it's on the honor system. The line went really fast though, Food: What we're here for, right? Our table of 6 ordered a wide variety of things including catfish, chicken fried steak, breakfast, and pot roast. We tried a lot of the sides. We had the coconut cream pie, apple crumb pie, and the peach cobbler. We had them bring all rolls. Most everything was outstanding. The exception was the deserts. The coconut cream pie was wonderful. The apple crumb was just okay. The peach cobbler was a big disappointment. Lots of generic peaches that tasted like they came right out of the can, and almost no crust, at least in our serving. We weren't offered to have it heated with ice cream, but honestly it wouldn't have helped it. Maybe it's a preference. We like cobbler with lots of crust, spices, and fresh fruit. We would go back, but stick to the cream pies next time.

Southern Comfort Food

By destiny252 |

Mama’s Daughter’s Diner is a great home-style diner with good food, service, and prices. We often have a late breakfast here on the weekends, and it never disappoints.

Excellent Excellent Excellent!

By Cox1959 |

Stopped here for breakfast during our trip to the women's final four. My wife said it was best breakfast she had ever had. While there they were bringing out their pies. Needless to say we had to take some for the road.

Designers and other real folk eat here

By raven46 |

In the Design District where all the glitz that gives Dallas it's reputation for shiny and glamorous, is a roadhouse cafe that is frequented by these designers, truck drivers, pipe fitters, warehouse stockers and other folk who go out of the way for this authentic comfort food. Still serving "meat and three" veggies, you will get a full mean for under $10.00. Rolls and cornbread included. Fresh pies and cobblers made daily. Waitresses call you "hon" like you are a regular, which you may become!

Great Breakfast Spot

By David S |

Stayed at the Hilton Anatole about a mile away and came across this place online when looking for a breakfast spot. Cool little place with classic breakfast/diner offerings. Waitstaff was extremely courteous. Would give it 4.5 stars if possible.

Quick Lunch :)

By 684lyndsays |

Lots of options and quick service - great for a lunch between meetings or if you're looking for some southern cooking that will make your belly happy!

Classic Diner Food

By Daniela C |

We went on a Saturday morning for breakfast. We were seated immediately, though the restaurant was full of people! The food was tasty. The pancakes were fluffy, the biscuits were soft, and the sausage patties were perfectly crisp. The menu isn't very flexible - if you want to make substitutions, too bad. The service was alright, but not impressive. They came around often to fill up coffee cups. There are fun signs and sayings on the wall. The experience was that of a typical diner. The pies looked amazing.

Nice place for a meal while shopping on Riverfront

By The Excursionist |

Fun diner with a lot of menu choices, reliable comfort food. Reasonable prices and great service in a comfortable homey setting.

Good home cooked food

Wife and I went on a whim and will be back. Quick service and friendly. Good was all good as well and my coffee cup never got below full. Highly recommended!

Come here

By Bbmary6 |

We are breakfast at Original Market Diner the day before. If you need to choose between either choose Mama’s. The food was great, the service was great and the prices were great. Thank You

Comfort food done right!

On advice of a local we popped into Mama's Daughters Dinner. This is really comfortable simple dinner harking back to simpler time. If you good southern home style cooking, this is the place. We will be back!

Work lunch

By KylesDad |

Was working nearby and thought I’d eat here. I use to eat here a lot back in the day Pretty much the same place with new faces. The staff was quick, fun, and just what you would expect here. You have to be ready to sit at a common table and be ready to meet new strangers! But that’s part of the charm! The biggest change was in some of the recipes.. the chicken fried chicken was only so-so and the gravy was bland. Green beans were the bomb! All in all it’s not bad but I wouldn’t say it was great either.

Good Service and Good Food!

By JoInTexas |

My hubby and I stopped in here for breakfast while our SUV was getting a new sunroof at American Sunroof down the street. We had not been here in years and were so glad that we remembered the place. The walls are covered with “Mama phrases” like “Sit Up Straight!” and “Just Wait Until Your Father Gets Home!”, therefore it is easy to stay preoccupied while waiting for your food. I had fried eggs (cooked a perfect medium) with buttered rye toast (most restaurants do not have rye bread) and crispy hashbrowns….very tasty. My hubby had fried eggs (cooked perfectly medium well) with sausage patties, hashbrowns and wheat toast…he loved it. Our waitress was good too.

Delicious biscuits and gravy!

By Linda E |

Cooked perfectly as ordered breakfast. Overall, my husband and I try to avoid bread, but those biscuits were impossible to avoid! Light and fluffy, served with sausage gravy. Busy dinner, but quick, friendly and efficient service. Good home cooking!

The waitress may call you "Hon"

By 394willh |

Don't come to Mama's Daughter's Diner unless you're hungry. Even then, you'll be kinder to yourself if you ask for a take-home box when you order. Split the food in half between your plate and the box. You'll be plenty full. Southern-style comfort food; great breakfasts; splendid meatloaf; real mashed potatoes; greens. There are booths and there are big tables where different parties sit as though at a picnic in the park. Very down-home - nicely mixed crowd. You will want to eat dessert (pies, cakes, cobblers), and if you eat all of your meat/potatoes/vegetables *plus* dessert, you will hurt yourself.

Tucked away

By missdebbie2 |

Off the beaten path! Stayed at the Hilton Anatole, but like to find food treasure off the beaten path! Went on Sunday for a late breakfast! BEST biscuits, soft and flakey! Good home cooked breakfast, everything was great!!

Great food

By Alwayshavefun85 |

OMG!!!!! My cousin took my mother and I to Mama's Daughter's Diner before heading back home. The food is out of this world! I ordered the fried okra, beans, meat loaf, rolls, and sweet tea. The flavors exploded in my mouth and besides my mama's cooking, this puts it up there with hers. This is a great hole in the wall place before flying out of Love Field. The diner has sayings that your mama would say to you throughout the diner; it took me back. This diner is nothing like the ones in California! Mama's Daughter's Diner need to open in California and I took the rolls and stuck it in my luggage. Will visit again soon.

OMG...down home cookin'!!

By vikkif07 |

Was looking for a simple little place for a good breakfast. Saw the reviews about homemade biscuits and good food. They were absolutely right!! Had the best looking strips of bacon I've ever seen, but got jealous when I saw other folks getting lunch (turnip greens, candied yams...you get the picture!!). Decided right then to come back for lunch another day. Fried chicken, black eyed peas, cornbread, sweet tea...yaaaassss!! And our server, Barbara (a spirited senior...full of life!!) was funny and personable!! Loved the whole experience!

Best biscuits ever!!!!!!

By meintexas67 |

Came here on a Saturday morning with the family. No wait time at all. Very friendly service. We all loved our breakfast! I ate the best biscuits I ever had and my mom and daughter raved about the omelett and waffle with strawberries. It was truly a perfect start to the day.

Simply amazing!!!

By Ken F |

Was looking for a place nearby to grab lunch, and the reviews didn't let me down. They have the best rolls and cornbread that I have had in a long time. Grabbed a bacon cheeseburger for lunch and I was all set! Highly recommend grabbing a bit here if you are in the area, it won't disappoint.

Almost like mama made it

By Stephen Andert |

I had the chicken and dumplings. It was great, but different from my mom's recipe. Great food and huge servings. The fresh rolls are AWESOME!

Solid Food in a Classic Diner Styled Atmosphere

By Mars Blackman |

Classic diner meals that dont miss. Whether its breakfast or lunch you wont be disappointed...I went with the pancakes & eggs. My wife...went with a lunch dish. The best part was the service. It reminder me fo the neighborhood diners I grew up on in Chicago.

Down-home, eat 'til ya bust

By 394willh |

This place is a delight. There are some booths and some long tables where unrelated parties sit together. This is diner food: chicken fried steak, meatloaf, turnip greens, corn bread - and breakfast. Lots of decent coffee. And pies!! The waitresses are likely to call ya darlin' and there are classic Mama sayings all over the walls. If you want to have dessert (which I advise), get a to-go box right away: if you eat all of your entree (with the three sides), you're gonna hurt yourself with dessert. Oh Hell -- just go and eat!

great food ugly bathrooms

By Deavour94 |

The food is great, good portions, good for a family or budget. They offer breakfast combos most restaurants don't. It has a the old country diner charm that is long lost. I liked the old fashion thick coffee mugs so much I bought a few to take home. The only down side is the restrooms. They are small in bad need of remodeling and repair , clean enough but could be better.

Nothing has changed in 25 years and that is a Great thing!

By davidrJ8870IU |

My wife and I used to love this place when we lived in Dallas and, after we moved, talked it up for 25 years. We just had a chance to visit Dallas again and all we could think of was this place and if it was still great. It was and is. 25 years and the Chicken Fried Chicken is still the best I have ever had. In fact, everything was great including the ambiance of the venue....this is the original location and a must visit. It is loud, it seems disorganized and it is a great place for the best comfort food in the DFW area. The staff manages the chaos like a conductor for the Dallas Symphony and you will not be disappointed...unless you are expecting white tablecloths. And, don't forget the rolls and cornbread...if you ask they will even give you extras...do. MDD is just good old fashioned comfort food with the emphasis on comfort. And the portion size will make you skip at least two meals after that. Only disappointment? As we walked in, I overheard a waitress say they were out of Peach Cobbler! The one day they did not have a back up and we had to pick that day! Wife was inconsolable and if you think that is hyperbole...wait until you try it. You will fully understand.

Lots of food at good prices!

By Deb_traveller |

Every time we have been to Dallas I've wanted to stop here but they are often closed when I arrive so I end up elsewhere. We finally arrived in time to go here for a late lunch. We were greeted right away and our friendly server helped us to make our choices for vegetables and meat. There was plenty of food so no one would go away hungry here. I liked the fried okra but was disappointed with the green beans. I also had the mashed potatoes and they were good. The chicken and dumplings were a little greasy for my taste but they had well cooked chicken and the thinner noodles, often called slippery noodles. My guest and I enjoyed peach cobbler for dessert. It was tasty and not too sweet. This is a nice spot for lunch and I hope to get here one morning for breakfast when I'm in town again.

Great southern breakfast

By Stacy L |

Parking lot was full so we anticipated a long wait. Once inside we were seated right away. Seemed a little disorganized we had about 5 different people seat us, take our drink order, take our food order and deliver our food. Made it kinda strange since we ordered water from the first waiter and never saw him again and had to wait for the next waiter to ask again. The food was amazing and the price was even better. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. I would def return

Absolutely Wonderful! !

By Nancy M |

This place is wonderful! !! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious! Our kind of place!

You. Must. Have. Breakfast. Here.

By Itinerant_scholar |

It's the best breakfast going -- all sorts of people enjoying the usual breakfast staples, along with really outstanding sausage and bacon. Service is fast and friendly -- try to arrange to be seated in Carolyn's section, if you can -- and the atmosphere is happy and laid-back. Around the walls are posted helpful reminders from Mama -- theirs, yours, and mine: "Look at me when I'm talking to you." "You're not going out dressed like that!" etc etc (you're heard them all before...). The prices will leave you smiling too -- Next time we're in Dallas, I know exactly where we'll go for breakfast...

Yum!!

By Heidi M |

Great way to start the day! The food was fantastic, simple breakfast food!! I had the sausage and cheese omelet and it was loaded with sausage and cheese, they definitely don't skimp on ingredients!!

Go early

By Laurelwright |

This place always has a line out the door! It’s not for lack of other restaurants nearby it’s just that they have real diner food. Our table likes the roast beef sandwich and the meatloaf but honestly you could split it! Go early if you want a table!

Great food, great service & Great price

By kantbyluv |

We stopped here for breakfast. Food was great with affordable prices and great portions. Staff was friendly and service was great.

Southern Food At Its Best

By DISNEYGUYS |

This place is a hidden gem simply love it the staff are just so friendly the lunch was great next time I will go for breakfast my coworker took me here and it was just great food so if you are in the area give it a try .

Great lunch plates

By Dave Porter |

This is a meat and 3 place and the entree and veggie selections vary each day. I’ve had the chicken fried steak and the next time I had the meatloaf.......both were great. Sometimes I’m afraid to order a salad at diners because I’ve had stale lettuce, but not here the salad was fresh and crisp. The veggies are great.....so good in fact that I may get a 4 veggie plate next time. Very relaxed atmosphere!

Best Diner

By ChopperBenny |

Have been going here for 30 years. Good breakfasts . Great chicken fried steak. Great burgers. Priced reasonable .

Good breakfast, great staff

By Brigitt H |

My family and I enjoyed our breakfast here. The food arrived quickly and was tasty, the coffee was quickly refilled, and the wait staff was friendly and attentive without being annoying.

A great find with its regulars

By drdanielmacdonald |

Tried this place with a Groupon.. A down to earth place with an entree for 10$ and sandwiches from 5. A fast and friendly waitress and easy home cooking meals makes for a truly Texan welcome.

Great Value and Old Fashioned Flavors

By Martin H |

Our group went to Mama's Daughter for a quick lunch during our stay in Dallas. It was recommended as good food at reasonable prices, which can be hard to find in Dallas. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and found people of every stripe and background sitting together at some of the longer tables sharing their lunch. I enjoyed my bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich and another person enjoyed their fried chicken sandwich. My only disappointment was with the sweet potato fries, which were apparently from an institutional supplier. Everything else was good solid "4" and the prices were indeed really great!

Classic American diner experience

By Tim B |

This is a must stop for us Canadians when we visit Dallas! Classic American diner food at its best! The decor is basic, but a perfect fit. So far we have tried the fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and one of the massive breakfast plates. Outstanding sides of fried okra, sauteed spinach, pickled beets and mashed potatoes generally leave us bursting at the seams as we waddle to the car. LOL This is a busy place, but they move people through efficiently.

Best pie ever

By bobp30328 |

Had Sunday lunch and breakfast. Good on both ends and topped with a great slice of pie. Service was good. Steady crowd. Friendly staff

Pie to die for!

By MIcalobeco |

Great friendly service, average breakfast. Coconut creame pie was the best I've ever had!! 10 minute wait for party of 10 on a Saturday morning, wasn't bad at all, and right on target!

Tipical American Dinner

By INM30 |

Loved the atmosphere the theme makes you feel how a dinner usual be like , staff really friendly, food is good a lot of option there .

Agreed - they figured it out years ago and still strong

By Jon E |

It had been several years since I had been to this location as our office relocated. Now we are back closer and a couple of us returned. Same line out the door with same guy manning the door and seating everyone. Generally the same menu with daily specials (several to choose from). I like the Chicken Fried Chicken, but with brown gravy. Plenty of sides to choose from. Lots of rushing around between the tightly-spaced tables, just keep your elbows in. Now that we're back in the neighborhood I'm sure we'll keep coming back.

Just the ticket

By Margaret W |

When we asked our local friends where to meet for coffee they suggested Starbucks, we reminded them we're tourists and we wanted an original 1950's diner, fortunately I found this on the internet and it was within 5 minutes of our accommodation. It was perfect in every way, the interior could have been right out of Happy Days and the welcome very friendly in the classic American way. Our food was the usual breakfast/brunch style so exactly right for our experience. French toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup all washed down with ample coffee which is constantly replenished.

Best!! Better than mama!!

By Dageaux |

Awesome food, great service... the biscuits and grits were to die for!!! Ladies Ministry thoroughly enjoyed!!! Yumminess!!!

Very good country cooking

By kendr390 |

Mama's Daughters Diner is a very quaint and cute family restaurant. If you are looking for a good meal try this place you will not be disappointed. I had the #2 breakfast with added blueberries to my pancakes. Everything was delicious. It was crowded on a Saturday mid morning but we were seated immediately even sharing a table with 4 other patrons. The staff was very friendly and food was delivered quickly. Yes we back the next day Sunday only had the veggie omelet with jalapenos added hot sauce. We were seated quickly but the church soon arrived. Along the walls are saying that your mother or grandmother would said to us as kids growing up. I think the best one "I'm on a 30 day diet and only lost 15 days" or something along that line. We got a kick out the quote.

Great

By Amanda N |

Food was amazing. Coffee was great. Service was top notch. Really glad I found this place. We will make it a point to come back

Just Ok

By norma71 |

I think this is the original, I love the one in Lewisville but, this one was just ok with service being pretty bad. They said it was bad due to it being Christmas eve morning and such, but, still they kept forgetting stuff we ordered and the service was just not very good. Food was plain tasting very different from the location in Lewisville.

Great for a get together..

By Ana R |

The food is great, I prefer this than Ihop.. The service is okay and the restaurant is overall clean most of the time.

Ok Food Nothing Special

By Terik |

Food was good, nothing special. I didn’t have a large meal. BLT that was big on L and short on B. Onion rings lukewarm and not homemade, frozen. I love fried pies, but this was a big disappointment, cold and a bit soggy, very little canned filling. The main reason for the low review, other than the food, was the staff. The hostess, the server and the cashier were very unfriendly. We smiled and spoke, only received scowls. The server was the worst, didn’t check on us after dropping the food to the table. I asked for a fried pie and she sighed, rolled her eyes, went over and literally threw it on the plate and again dropped the plate on the table. There was large lunch crowd but not unmanageable. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

Yum

By TNMelissa |

I ordered from here through uber eats and it hit the spot! I was wanting home cooked food and this place was exactly what I wanted.

Could've been my mama.

A True Diner! #EatLocal

By rdubbs08 |

We were staying at the nearby Hilton Anatole and decided to get off property for breakfast as we left town. This is a fantastic little diner. Service was very friendly and fast, and the food was delish! I would recommend stopping here - it is just SOLID! #EatLocal

Just as comfortable as home

By Mrlewis35 |

Comfort food for sure. Baked chicken is the best, add turnip greens, fried okra, green beans, corn bread and of course a sweet tea, but don't forget the knap after. Super fast, great food/Ol dinner style. Just like Mr.Hays cafe where I grew up. Stop on in and give it a try-I'll join you as a regular....

Disappointing

By Francis H |

Coffee and hash browns were cold. Had the chicken fried steak breakfast. Was expecting a home made CFS. It was obviously frozen from a box. Very salty. Tasted awful. Left most of it on the plate, Eggs were good. So disappointing. How hard is it to make breakfast? Won't go back. BTW this was the Forney location.

Great place to eat

By Arlene H |

The place was small and cozy. Very friendly staff. The food was great. I had the chicken friend steak, it was delicious. This would be a place I would return to. They offered everything on the menu, including breakfast at 1230..

Delicious home-cooked meals

By TexasCatBird |

First time to visit this restaurant. Four of us ate an assortment of the home-cooked style meals including the home baked rolls and cornbread. Loved the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and turnip greens. Another family member enjoyed the special of bowl of beef stew. The others had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, okra, green beans. The plates come with three sides which makes for lots of food. Our service was excellent and food arrived in short order.

Hit the spot on Sunday after church

By Shawn D |

I had chicken fried chicken with gravy, salad, mashed potatoes and peach halves. I loved every bite of it and it was delicious at a reasonable price.

Comfort Food

By Rene G |

Great homestyle comfort food! Eat there every time I am in the Dallas area! The service is great, very friendly! They have daily specials menu and a regular menu! Can't wait to eat there again. Very affordable!!!!!

Homecooking, breakfast all-day, great variety & prices

By PBA A |

The building looks a little old & the diner is located off the beaten path, but it's definitely worth the trip! We had breakfast, which is served all day, but the menu has daily specials, all with a good homecooking taste. We got there early enough to get seated, but the diner filled up fast. Customer service was decent. We shared a large table with another family, but there were a couple of empty seats in between us so it still felt private. The home fried potatoes with peppers & onion are delicious! I would definitely dine here again!

Great place to eat

By wils0nc00k |

The service here is very good, all thanks to the staff. Their menu has a huge variation and their steaks are worth a try. I also love their Mac & Cheese and i always try their mashed potatoes. I am fan!

Awesome folks at Mama's Daughters Diner on Irving Blvd

By Tricia H |

Nancy Procaccini, the owner, hosted a birthday dinner for our friend last night and it was FANTASTIC! Chicken ala King, greens, corn, rice, cornbread, rolls, and THE BEST STRAWBERRY CAKE you have ever eaten! The service is awesome and the food was even better - we had a great evening thanks to Nancy!

A must-do!

By 112traveler47 |

Wow, with the Groupon, this was a wonderful and inexpensive meal! Home cooking at it's best and the coconut cream pie was terrific! Daily specials are also on the menu

Mama said...

By ronalddd2016 |

50's style diner with furniture that's probably been there that long. Fast and pleasant service with suggestions on which menu items not to be missed. Prices excellent. This is a great diner but not a great restaurant. If you're looking for down home, comfort food, this is a good choice. If you're looking for a more formal dining experience, this ain't it.

Home cooking great

By HOLLY93A |

This place has fresh, home cooked food and large portions. The daily specials are numerous in which you pick an entree and three side dishes. Everyone around us was getting their order very quickly but our server forgot about us. That was the only low point. Our staff ate here to lunches in a row. Their hours are 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The man seating us was very quick also, If the line is out the door do not worry go get in line it will move quick.

Rib-sticking, tooth-sucking goodness

By BattleRabbitNYC |

I ordered the #3 breakfast special (for lunch, 'cause it's allowed) and it was more food than I would normally eat in three days, and everything was exactly how I like it -- runny eggs, bacon crispy/flexy, biscuits that are fluffy but still can stand up to mopping up egg yolk. On another day I got a burger to go, which served its purpose (eat on the run) but I prefer burgers in a different style.

Delicious lunch

By Emu_Tracks |

Traditional old style American diner. Very quintessential. Loved it. The service was fast even though the place was packed.

Home style cooking at its best!

By Kathy B |

Hubby and I stopped today (Saturday) for lunch. Place was full but wait was short. Upon walking in I was immediately excited. All the food looked amazing... honestly, everything! The first thing I saw was fried okra that looked plump and delicious, a plate sized pancake, macaroni and cheese that looked wonderful, big burgers, and chicken fried steak that was enormous. I knew it was going to be tough to decide! Each day has daily specials that come with your choice of 3 sides and bread choice for slightly less than $10. Hubby ordered pot roast, okra, mashed potatoes, and a dinner salad. The roast beef was literally melt in your mouth delicious. Shredded easily with a spoon. The okra was the best I ever had- esp dipped in a little bit of ranch! Bread choices are dinner rolls, cornbread and biscuits. We tried them all and the dinner roll was the best as it was pillow soft! Cornbread was our 2nd choice. Biscuit was a little on the dry side for me. I decided on a veggie omelet and ordered a side of extra crispy hash browns. Omelet was just so-so and how could it not be as I sat watching hubs eat a southern plate of heaven?!? What was I thinking? The hash browns were amazing though and I picked off hubs plate through the whole meal. Portions were very large! Idk what I was thinking ordering that omelette at a place like that! That’s me trying to be healthy in a place one should certainly not bother and just enjoy... just plain dumb on my part. We ordered a massive cinnamon roll to go and heated at home. All the staff was friendly and our waitress was great. We will try one of their other locations soon!

Yee Haw

By ladyactsalot |

If down home cooking and atmosphere is your bailiwick....this is the place to go!! Nothing fancy, just plain old hearty eatin'. Everything is freshly made just like at Mama's house. The veggies are overdone, but that's the way some folk like 'um. Service is speedy and done tongue in cheek. The name should say it all. Besides...it's very affordable.

Hospitable and friendly service and a good hearty breakfast !

By jusagir1 |

As soon as we arrived we noticed a pick-up order line leading out the front door. We found our way inside and seated with our water glasses and order taken promptly- without feeling rushed wish was really nice. Right away, we noticed now busy it was so I imagine we came during peak hours (around noon on a Fri.). Alicia, our waitress, was a delight! She was hospitable and provided such friendly service. I didn’t see his name tag but the man who seated us right away and cleared our plates deserves recognition as well. He made sure my cup of Diet Coke was topped off while we dined. I’m glad we stopped to dine at Mama’s. I highly recommend coming to this diner if you want some good service coupled with a hearty breakfast or brunch or a something tasty for lunch. We hope to be back!
