Great all around service, the manager was so friendly...he sat our party of 12 at the round table near the back so there was not a lot of traffic; the friendly waitress brought chips and dips for every two people, and kept it coming until our food arrived; the food... Was absolutely delicious

The restaurant is super nice.. the service is bad. But the food. Fatal. The worst thing I have eaten in recent years. Nothing helps. I won't even come back.

We had a great dinner here at Mamacitaâs. I had the carnitas and they were really good in flour tortillas. Make sure to ask for the hot âhouseâ salsa! It was great to mix with the other salsas!!!

I ate at this restaurant on a Friday night. It was not too crowded but still many people there. The restaurant is huge on the inside and is decorated very very nicely. It looks like the recreated an entire city on the inside of this restaurant. Service was excellent. The food was pretty good but the enchiladas and the tamale were a little soft but still tasty. I would pass up the sopapillas. The price was moderate.

Always hits home. Good for friends, business, or family. Large, clean...great food, superb prices, and super friendly staff.

Look, folks, San Antonio is THE CAPITOL of the world when it comes to Mexican Food, so when I say a Mexican food restaurant is good, in fact, authentically great, with an Old Western, Out-of-a John-Wayne-Movie set feel, then trust me. You will like it! They have tried very hard to recreate an Old Mexico feel, and their servers are nice an prompt, and the food has, as far as I can remember, never been bad.

Tasty food with a friendly and timely service. In house band was great but volume is so loud that conversing may be a challenge.

We have visited two of the Mamacitas locations (Kerrville and San Antonio) and both locations are excellent in both food and sevice. From the hostess to the wait staff, servers and management, each one made our visits enjoyable and the food is GREAT!!! They start you off with warm not cold tortilla chips and two different salsas to snack on while you wait for your appetizers and food. They are very generous with the portions not to mention the homemade tortillas. On different occasions I have had the chile relleno, beef and chicken fajitas, quesadillas (shrimp and chicken), queso flameado and flautas and not once was I disappointed. I will definitley continue to visit Mamacitas.

great food, great service. good prices. highly recommend. atmosphere was superb. my kids enjoyed every second of it

The food was good. A little greasy, but it was fine. We had a pretty good time, only to walk into the parking lot to find we were robbed. Window was shattered, items stolen. Our server was kinda rude, but only a little.

The best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at! If you are near San Antonio you have to plan to eat here. The staff is attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is great for business or personal dining. Additional space in the back for larger parties. Would highly recommend and will return every time I am in the area!

I like Mamacita's they've got good food at great prices and huge portions! There's not one thing on the menu that I don't like. Their beef and chicken fajitas are really good!

I've patronized many "family-owned and operated" restaurants... But, I've never visited a restaurant which truly treats it's customers like "family", until I walked into Mamacita's Restaurant. Everything is perfect - Delicious food, delicious drinks, incredibly awesome customer service, and restaurant managers whom take a personal interest in their customer's satisfaction. AND, this place is priced right!! I've included a pic of Mario (L) and Meno. These guys are great and make everything much more pleasant with their witty personalities!! They mingle amongst the customers, insuring everything is, as it should be. If you're in the Medical Center area, do yourself a favor and enjoy Mamacita's Restaurant. Nachos al Carbon are my favorite. Try them, and you'll taste why!!

Not a great experience at all!! When we arrived they sat us in the far back away from everyone else. They bought us salsa then chips about 10 minutes after the salsa. They never gave us water with our chips and salsa we had to ask for water. Once our food arrived it was so oily that I could hardly eat it. I wonât be back or recommend.

We met a friend from high school and her family here. My kids who are younger really enjoyed the setting and being able to watch them make tortillas. The adults enjoyed the quality food and service. I had the snapper and it was delicious. I really want to know how they make that green sauce they serve alongside the salsa! It was tasty!

Surprisingly very good restaurant. Very large interior with city type setting. Very large private dinning rooms on periphery. Very good bar and nice big menu. Good food.

We had a date night at Mamacita's and absolutely fell in love with this place. The chips salsa and green salsa was so yummy. The margarita was one of the best that I have had in a while. I got the Pescado del mar it was cooked just right and not too dry like other places. They make their own flour tortillas they are so fluffy and delicous.

First of all: you walk in and it is set up like a small town outdoors, with lights and a pretty night sky full of stars and the moon. Davy Crockett is on top of one of the buildings and every now and then he plays his fiddle. The Food: They are generous with their chips and salsa. They offer 2 salsas, a regular red salsa and a creamy green sauce. Both are delicious. I have been 3 times and each time my food has been delicious. I usually order refried beans but I opted for the Charra beans last time and they were so delicious. Their food is Tex-mex style. Enchiladas are great. I had the Flautas and tacos and they are tasty as well. They sell Starbucks Coffee and Cheesecake Factory cheesecake slices.

Great nachos, hot sauce, and enchiladas verde. Good decor, with fun things to check out. Good frozen margaritas.

More than just a restaurant. Itâs an experience. Had the chimichanga and the quesadillas. The guacamole was delicious.

It is a Mercado settings. A nie place weather its a solo, or many. Get a nice table under Davy Crockett. Get your bruski and some poppers. All the fare is unique and has the Tex-mex flavor. Another favorite for me in old San-Anton

Mamacitaâs is our top one when we want mexican food, they are always kind and welcoming. Starting with their staple chips and salsa, you have 2 options, the regular salsa, and their green salsa which is creamy and delicious. Then you have all their entrees options, they have also vegetarian and vegan friendly ones which are amazing, I love the sizzling veggie fajitas, and their Chile rellenos. You canât go wrong coming to Mamacitaâs!

Food was excellent. Staff was friendly. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was we were told it was a 30 minute wait when I counted a dozen empty tables. Hostess needs a little coaching.

Beautiful setting with starry ceiling and courtyard surroundings almost like a theme park restaurant. Excellent service. Some of the best rice and flour tortillas that I have had. Very disappointed in scant chile con carne and tomatillo toppings for enchiladas.Carrot cake was bland. Praline was a chewy praline that I could have bought at a convenience store. Would try again if someone else wanted to go there or just for a drink, rice, and tortillas.

Everything was five out of five. Value , portion sizes , flavor, setting, atmosphere , speed, efficiency, chips and salsa. Our guy, Emmanuel was a model of smooth professionalism. Made us feel welcome and appreciated. If you absolutely forced me to find something negative....hmmm... maybe the flour tortillas were a little pale, but that is it. So much to look at while you're waiting for your food.

Decided to do lunch a little late so we were seated right away. Our waiter promptly attended to our table of eight. He made several recommendations for drinks and food. We followed all of them and he was right. Be sure to get the frozen margarita with an extra shot of tequila. Great start to our meal. Chips were hot and fresh. Quest was a must. Chicken quesadilla was full of nicely spiced meat and the portions were excellent. Really enjoyed the beef nachos. Full of meat and cheeses. Overall great experience.

Great salsa and enchiladas. My 2 yr old twins are fascinated with Davy Crockett playing his fiddle. Reasonably priced with excellent service. I've eaten here many times, as it is one of my favorites here in San Antonio.

I had the opportunity to try Mamacitas on a visit over last Fatherâs Day weekend. When we arrived the entrance area was packed with people, some leaving some going in. And most of the guests were Hispanic. That seemed a pretty good endorsement for the restaurant as a good place for Tex-Mex food. We were right. While the place was jammed packed with diners we got seated in less than five minutes. The atmosphere was very Southwestern and was filled with animated conversations and laughter. There were at least five birthday celebrations going on and Margaritas and beer was flowing. The green âsauceâ that was recommended to us was a pureeâ of deliciousness and had us asking for a second bowl of homemade chips. The Gucamole style blend consists of avocados, tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic, jalapenos and sour cream that are pureed to the consistency of Pistachio pudding. Talk about addicting! The menu is big and wide-ranging. Whether youâre up for fajitas, enchiladas, fish tacos or beef youâll find something quite tasty to take care of your hunger.. Service is friendly and, while sometimes slow because of the number of patrons, Mamacitas is a fun and not very expensive Tex-Mex place worth giving a try.

Had fajitas and margaritas with friends. Everything was very good. Service was excellent. Love the atmosphere. Definitely will come again.

This restaurant was close to our hotel and after reading reviews, we chose it. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Our dinners were well prepared and portions were large. Loved their guacamole! Chips were crispy & fresh and really enjoyed salsa & salsa verde. Great decor and looked clean and well kept up. Would recommend for families as the prices were good too!

It has been a while since we have visited, and the quality is still the same, great!! We enjoyed the service and food. The menu was diverse enough for us try something different. The food came out very hot and our server was very courteous. The avocado dip was excellent as always. Nice place to visit with large parties as well. Enjoy San Antonio.

This place has excellent Tex-Mex food. I went with a group of seven and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The fresh made flour tortillas are excellent. No reservations on Friday or Saturday. We were there on a Saturday night and were told it would be a 45 minute wait and it took closer to and hour and a half. Once seated, there service was a little slow becaue of how busy they were.

This is over by our house and it's really good Fast Mexican Food and the prices are very reasonable! I really like their beans!

Great food and atmosphere; large restaurant but accomodated our large group well, and service was excellent.

We had lunch here yesterday. Really fantastic decor and very pleasant atmosphere. The food was great and the wait staff very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had not been here in MANY years and recently joined out-of-town friends for lunch here. It is located on the access road of IH 10 East just before Callaghan Rd. and had ample parking. There is a nice front seating area to wait for all of your party to arrive. The hostess greeted and sat us quickly. Our waiter, Mario, was very attentive and courteous. The noise level was low and the place is very clean and the décor is nice too. We all ordered different menu items as there was a large selection to choose from the menu. The orders were a half order of Nachos al Carbon/Beef Fajita ($9.99), #9 Cheese Enchiladas with Chili con Carne ($11.99), Taco Salad w/Grilled Chicken ($9.99), Fish Tacos ($13.99) and ice teas. The plates were plentiful, the fish tacos were stuffed with two fried fillets and the taco salad came in a large fried corn tortilla filled with iceberg lettuce, chopped tomato, a side of guacamole and a side of queso. All the food was fresh and filling as well as really good. A nice place for a gathering, celebration or to take out-of-towners.

I realize that the Texas legend is "Everything's bigger in Texas" but this place was all hat and no cattle. The décor is big, flashy and tacky. It truly reminded me of some of the theme restaurants at Disneyworld in that they were more concerned with the façade of a Mexican Town and glittering lights with recorded Mariachi music that was too loud. The food was only average and truthfully, I get better Mexican food in NC than I did here. However, in fairness, the portions were huge, they bring large bowls of Salsa and Guacamole to each table. I ordered the Camarones a la Diablo and told them not to spare the heat and it was only mildly spicy. It was accompanied by the typical sides and a huge salad. Pricing was reasonable and the service was excellent.

Food and service are reliable, good place for large parties particularly when hosting guests from out of town. Chips and salsa options are delicious. Large selection of taste options and desserts are delicious!

If you love great Mexican food you need to come here. Homemade tortillas hot from the oven. Yum! Loved the salsas and chips too. All our food was delicious. The service was fast and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The kids loved watching Davy Crockett play his fiddle.

Visited dinner time on a Monday night when it was very quiet. Sat at the bar and ordered the house margarita to drink and chile rellanos for my meal. Both were excellent. Warm fresh chips and two salsas came first. Sorry I did not take the hotel's offer of a shuttle ride over - the drink was large and strong. And good.

I was here yesterday for a professional luncheon and we had prearranged meals. Perhaps I will need to go back and order from the menu and I will have a better experience. I had the tamale, enchilada and taco combo, with rice and refried beans. It wasn't overly spicy but honestly, rather bland--I had to add salt to it to give it some flavor. The waiters were great but forgot that I had asked for a water refill and one of my colleagues actually had to find and hand me a water pitcher.

We stopped here during my first week in San Antonio (and it also happened to be my birthday) and had a great time. The restaurant itself is quite large and festive (see the pictures) and it's separated into a large dining area and a bar area with enough tables to sit and watch TV. The server was attentive and we stayed there a good portion of 2 hours. At the end of the meal, my friends (got to love them) told the wait staff that it was my birthday so they put a large sombrero hat on my heat and started to sing happy birthday. I will definitely cherish that moment! The food was pretty good -- nothing too bland and nothing too crazy with flavors exploding off the plate -- but overall a good meal.

DELICIOUS and fun. Place to celebrate than place to cel We live in Austin but have been coming to San Antonio for 7+ years because of double lung and kidney transplant at University Hospital. Stopped here often so what better place to celebrate than at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Atmosphere is second to none!!

Great menu and awesome food, service and drinks. Restaurant temperature was a bit warm. Thank you very much. We plan to return.

Went to the restaurant with my military friends on leave by suggestion from one of the spouse's. Menu prices are not what they charge you. Even during happy hour which supposedly discounted price. When I brought this up to the manager, they said they dont know and it's up to the owner. I never asked for how this issue even concerns the owner. If that was the case I would have asked for the owners information. I just wanted a simple answer why they dont honor the price listed. Which I pointed out, it wasn't about trying to get discount. We specifically told the servers the separate checks didn't need the military discount. So that the checks wouldn't confuse the servers. All my friends paid cash with over $400.00 in alcohol purchases alone between 50 people . Which is a decent amount for alchohol. All separate checks. The point was if you list a price on the menu, honor the listed price. Which the price was only on the back for my drinks. The manager just ignored the price they print on their menu and pawn it off to the consumer. Don't print prices on the menu if you wont honor your listed prices. Definitely would not suggest this place for friends or family or visitors to San Antonio. As a local I would never go again. Even if it was free, I'd pass for the moral high ground.

The service from the minute we entered the restaurant was superb! Our waitress was very friendly. The food was delicious and the green salsa is amazing! Great experience!

Good food, maybe not the spiciest or most "authentic" but service was excellent and I love their green salsa... which *I* would not call guacamole but it is delicious. Portions are ample and prices are OK. Desserts look great. I have been to other Mamacita's locations and always enjoyed my meals. Love the landscaping and little creek outside. Going back again tonight.

Place is nice n romantic with a kinda plaza theme at night food is great and the staff is great , handmade tortillas made me feel like I was back home and my mom making homemade food lol I love this place I recommend everyone to go here you will not regret it :)

Great atmosphere that the entire family will love. TEX MEX is really well done, fresh tortillas and great drinks

Food was amazing. Great service as well. Didn't care much for drinks. Would Definitely recommend to others.

The hostesses were rude upon our arrival, they were too busy talking to each other and then made it seem like we were bothering them asking for a table for two. They told us it would be a 20 minute wait- but we saw open tables. They explained we could only order appetizers and drinks there... we asked if we could then sit there while we waited for our table to open up... they seemed to be perturbed by our suggestion. Then, because 20 minutes had passed and they hadn't even taken down our name, we were told we could order our mains from that seating area only for appetizers and drinks that we had been sitting at.... we saw at least seven other couples standing waiting for seating instead of the hostesses offering them to wait in the appetizer/drinks only bar seating area, obviously losing potential profit for the restaurant from hungry people that would have ordered an appetizer/bar drink... and irritating them by having to wait and stand by the door. I can say that the service we received from our 'waiters'/barmen was awesome. and our food was great. But shame on the fore-runners and face of the restaurant to be so unaccommodating and self-absorbed to their customers. I won't be going back to this Mamacita's- i'll take Kerrville.

Service was really good. Food portions are not bad for kids and adult plates. Hot sauce they bring out initially is good but mild, so if you want a spicier one just ask they have one and its really good. I ordered chicken enchiladas and the flavor was good, but I was a bit dis saplings on how little chicken was in them. I honestly could not tell where the chicken was. Beans are good, aND rice was OK and tortillas are really good. Fun atmosphere for kids.

My husband and I went right at 11am when it opened so there werenât many people there. Our waiter was nice and quick. The food was fast and very good! We LOVED the salsa verde. We split the cheese enchiladas and they were also very good! They give you a lot of food so we were both stuffed! Bathrooms were clean. Great experience!

Also on Bills recommendation we went to Manacutas today and it was fantastic. Food service value and atmosphere was really great Keep up good work Vegas Dave

I've never understood why Mexican food can be so expensive. The food here is average, they don't really have a stand out food item. The place i pretty pricey but your really just paying for the atmosphere. The service is good. We had a party of 10 and didn't experience any thing wrong. Our waitress (Princesa) was on top of everything. I personally would not go back here unless it was with a big group. Not because the service, just because the price is pretty high for Mexican food. There's plenty of smaller mom and pop restaurants that serve the exact same thing, only cheaper.

It was cold outside, but this place warms your heart. We were told that the wait would be 30 min., but we only waited 15 (just two of us and they gave us a table for 4). We chose to start with Queso Chihuahua Flameado Flaming cheese with bacon and poblano chile pepper. So stinking good!!! Then we ordered Fajitaâs for 2, which could have feed 4! We put the Flameado on top of that, and it was out of this world. We have eaten Fajitas our whole lives, but by far, these were the most tender. All others will fail in comparison. đ„Č The service and speed were excellent. The manager stopped by out table to check how things were. The family atmosphere makes this place great for large families, birthday parties and reunions. A fun activity is watching the tortillas be made in the âfactoryâ. We also enjoyed the arcade. Daniel Boon plays his fiddle, and everyone leaves full. If this doesnât sound fun, then stay home and the line will be shorter for the rest of us! Ole!

This restaurant is very family friendly and prices are reasonable for the cuisine. My meal was edible but wasnât the best Mexican Iâve ever had, just a little bland and the shell was very soggy. There was way too much melted cheese that I had to remove it. Well suited to American tastes with the excess cheese. Friendly service and the decor makes it a fun place to eat. If food wasnât so Americanised it would get a 5 star.

We go here about once a year and the service and food have always been great, but this time something had changed. The service is still impeccable, but the food was lacking. My wife had the cheese enchiladas and said they had no flavor. I had the beef fajitas that I can truthfully say we're the worst in San Antonio. They were under cooked and rubbery with no flavor at all. Even the salsa was bland. We will go back, but not for a year.

I liked the atmosphere but it seemed that the meal was prepared with serious diet restrictions such as no salt or no flavor...The food was tasteless with no flavor, no spices, nothing. I thought it was just me but my husband was like taste my plate. Yuck! We didnât order anything out of the ordinary but a taco salad and an enchilada plate. Not even the chips and queso were made right. With their prices I expected A LOT more! Left our plates full! Will not be going back... ever...staying with Nichas..or Mexican Manhattan.

good food and good service. their mammcita sauce and green salsa was so yummy. kids loved the fountain they have inside.

The interior of Mamacitas is like a Mexican village square at night. Reminds of something you would find in Disneyland, complete with an animatronic Davey Crockett. There was a large wedding party celebrating, so it added to the festive atmosphere. A mariachi band was warming up in the lobby, but I didn't get to hear them play. Great place for families with kids. My meal, Poquito Di Todo combination, wasn't anything spectacular, but it's a safe bet for those who don't like spicy food. I personally like a little more kick in my Mexican food. My favorite was the tamale covered in chili con carne. But overall it's a good choice for a family night out. The prices are reasonable, the service was very good and they do have a large selection of cheesecakes for desert, if your so inclined. Also, a convenient 3 minute walk from the La Quinta Hotel, where I'm staying while I'm in San Antonio.

Service: Average table service, although not that busy. Chips and salsa: What was that green stuff? Seemed like cream cheese with salsa verde, but left bad taste. Beef fajitas: Meat was tender. Tortillas had nice texture, flavor. Margarita: Best part of meal.

Took a long time for food to come. When it came everyone's orders were correct, mine was the crispy tacos . I had 2 soft flour tacos on plate. I asked server, he said oh I will take it back. ( I had taken 1 bite rice and beans). He came back 2 min. Later with 3 hard shells filled with cold chicken. I was expecting their homemade shells they were making fresh deep fried.

Stopped here for lunch and had one of their salads. The food was delicious and the guacamole/sour cream dip was AWESOME! I could have literally just had that for lunch and would have been satisfied!

If you're looking for a place where the locals go, this is one of them. We ate here many years ago on another trip and have longed to return. We finally got our chance earlier this month. This place is not only good for the food but the atmosphere is great! The restaurant is open, with tall ceilings but is decorated and painted to make it feel like you're eating in a plaza. We were here at 3pm on a Saturday and it was still busy. We (6) each got a different dish and all of us loved what we ate. The green guac/salsa is the best I've ever had and I'm not a fan of guacamole. I got some to take home 3 hours away. None of us left anything on our plates.

The building and decor is really something else, very cool. It's like dining outside a old town square but with AC. Free chips and salsa... a plus! They have a tortilla making machine in the open and in use. (If you have kids sometime they will give kids some dough to play with) Right off a major hwy it's easy to get to, plenty of parking. They do have security in the parking lot. The food is ok, not my first choice for Mexican food but it's decent and they stay open late. They can accommodate large groups. It can get busy. The few times I've been there the food came out fast but the ticket took some time and on occasion so did the drink refills. From what I remember the plates were $9 and up.

A lot of restaurants seem to close early, but we were able to find and get to Mamacita's with plenty of time left before they closed. The food was great and we enjoyed their selection of salsas they had for the chips. We also got really full on the chips since we had walked in really hungry, but the food was pretty good. The decor was really inviting.

My husband and I had early dinners at Mamacitaâs in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, Thursday, November 8, 2018 and Friday, November 9, 2018. This restaurant was very convenient to the Embassy Suites that we were staying at and was wonderful from the perceptive of delicious food as well as great service, value and comfortable seating. The food was high quality, nicely prepared and delicious. The portions were also quite generous and the beer was reasonably priced. The meals that we enjoyed at this restaurant include: Beef Fajitas, the Combination de Res (a Beef Enchilada combined with a Beef Taco and much more), Cheese Enchiladas, a Hagi Burger and a Mamacita Burger. The complimentary chips with two different types of delicious dips (guacamole and salsa) and the fresh flour tortillas with each meal were also great!! We recommend this restaurant if you are in San Antonio for both Mexican and American food. We definitely will go back again.

Good food (which they have) isn't everything. Service is a part of that equation. Our waitress was attentive but taking orders was another thing. I asked for the snapper, no salad, and only sour cream and butter for my baked potato. (I am on a strict diet and also didn't want to be tempted by other things). So I got the snapper WITH the salad and their stand plate with everything for the baked potato. If someone orders something a specific way, its for a reason. Instead I got what they usually served with no thought to what the customer wanted. I was with a group so I didn't say anything but I left feeling very annoyed at Mammacita's. I hope a Manager reads this and gives more training! And one thing I might add because unfortunately this happens at a lot of restaurants including here....When you hand the customer the menu, don't immediately ask what they want to drink! They don't KNOW what they want to drink because they haven't looked at the drink menu yet! It's ok to give them a few minutes...instead of feeling rushed.

The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel, and it filled our dinner needs. Large portions and tasty. In addition to salsa, they also provide something that looks like avocado cool ranch dip for the chips, which is unique in our travels.

Nice scenery in a large open air format. Good food and decently priced. The tortillas soup was delicious with a lot of chicken and flavor. The sopapillas were large, but light and airy.

The second that I walked into Mamacita's, I was reminded of the South Park episode when Cartman visited Casa Bonita. I have never been to Casa Bonita, but the Disney World-like atmosphere that was portrayed in that episode struck me when I came through the doors. It's huge. The dining area is set up like you're on the street in a small western town. There are robotic characters set up on different rooftops. Every few minutes, these characters will come to life and perform a song or two. I really liked the ceiling, which is basically a black cloth with tiny holes punched in it. The light behind it gives it a twinkling star effect when the breeze moves the fabric. Very well done! The food was good..I ordered the vegetable fajitas. It was good...nothing spectacular, but very good nonetheless. The atmosphere is definitely the reason to come here. It seems like it's a very family friendly spot. They have a lot of space and rooms for private events as well as the table space for huge gatherings. I really enjoyed my dinner, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Great option for kids!

A friendly greeting, excellent service, and really good food make Mamacita's a great option for an informal meal, especially with a group. Not where you'd necessarily go for an intimate date, but enjoyable in any other circumstance, with the added bonus of an anamatronic Davy Crockett playing the fiddle atop the Alamo. I would not hesitate to eat here again!

This restaurant is a must every time we come into San Antonio. Beautiful restaurant, with great service and food. Fresh tortillas are the best!!!

Plentiful portions of Tex-Mex in an interesting setting. The guacamole dip served at each table is a plus.

Great atmosphere, service and food. We enjoyed our fresh made corn chips and tortillas we'll be back again. Cecilia gave us great service and very attentive to our needs. Ther rest of the staff was also great didn't have to be calling for refills a gentleman was always walking around to make sure every table was fine.

Stopped in for lunch thinking it was your usual Mexican restsurant, but was completely surprised at the awesome interior! The entire restaurant is set up to look like a small town & market in Mexico. When walking in, there's a small stream to both sides of the doorway w/colorful lights strung above. A giant chandelier hangs from the ceiling in the entryway & there's a mock marketplace setup on the right. Homemade tortillas are being made on the left, wide open, so u can watch if u want. The main dining area is set up to make u feel like you're sitting in a small town in Mexico, complete w/buildings all around & lit up stars & moon overhead. A robotic Davey Crockett plays an instrument while standing on the roof of one of the buildings. There's also a giant tree decorated in lights & a fountain that many kids were gathered around. The food was also amazing & fresh. None of their food is cooked in lard so it's great for those that do not eat pork.

Our party of 7 enjoyed the food although I would not say this is anything close to top of the list for great food. Healthy sized drinks, chips and salsa served at the tables. Wide variety of menu offerings. Wide open, spacious dining area that made things rather noisy. My fish tacos were ok, nothing special. Two to an order, small side of rice and choice of beans. Somewhat of a dumb Davy Crockett robot playing a violin that is not necessary or entertaining. Great wait staff - Genesis was superb. Seems like a great place for a casual birthday party with kids.

This place was recommended to us by a local. Clean, fast service. Huge portions, affordable prices. Everything was flavourful. Particularly enjoyed the fresh tortillas and margaritas. My only complaint was the arcade attached, as it distracted the kids from eating.

Great food and real friendly staff definitely worth a visit. Lovely decor. Next time in San antonio I will definitely be visiting again.

I was in San Antonio and ate here because it was next door to my hotel, what a nice surprise! The atmosphere inside is like a Mexican village, very cute. The food was delicious, especially the avocado dip they serve with chips. Our server was friendly and took very good care of our large group. Definitely recommend!

Good food, reasonably priced, great atmosphere, great service. Most of the food is made from scratch. Service is great. This is just a nice place to eat.

Honestly this place would get 5 stars based on their verde salsa alone-- it is that good. I don't know what they put in it but it is amazing. Add on free fresh flour tortillas and amazing enchiladas with their classic Mamacita's sauce and I was sold. This restaurant has a fun San Antonio tex-mex ambiance and fast service. I ended up going there two nights in a row. No regrets!

Wonderful place! Great tamales, flautas and beer. Family friendly and authentic. Even a cheesy animontronic Davy Crockit that plays the banjo!

Ordered fajitas The steak was over cooked but the made new ones.Good all around place for the family to friends! The cooked mushrooms were delicious along with flaming cheese with tortillas.

Wonderful restaurant. Our waitress was perfect! Food was great! I love the green sauce for the chips. The restaurant is beautiful inside! I am so glad my family came here for dinner! They have starbucks coffee and cheesecake also. The service was top notch. If I ever come back to San Antonio I will eat here again.

Mamcitas is very popular, so ideally book or at busy times go prepared to have predinner drinks. We always enjoy the food and service at this location when visiting from East Texas. (Experience suggests margarita by the pitcher is not cost effective, the strength 'by the glass' seems more reliable too).

This the best Mexican restaurant in town. The food is great, desserts fantastic and the ambiance is out of this world. Go with a party of 10 and reserve the round table with the water in it right below Davey Crockett playing the fiddle. Order the Tamales--none better.

Walk in, and this place looks like a lot of fun & awesome decor...margarita's are GREAT....food is very lacking....we ate as a large group, and the fajita meat was served in a big-bowl with the veggies...so, the meat was sitting in the veggie juices...and the meat was kind of fatty too. For San Antonio, this was very disappointing!

Highly recommend this Mexican restaurant as a place to visit. Fresh quality food at a decent price with great portions. Fresh tortillas are served with salsa to start!

Mamacita's charges $3.50 for a cup of coffee. Then they'll over you a refill (like all other restaurants do) but they don't tell you that the "refill" will cost you another $2.50 !! We eat out a lot so we know what other San Antonio restaurants charge for coffee and their refills are free.

Freshly made tortillas. Traditional Tex/mex dishes and clever frozen drinks My husband and I had fajitas for two and surprisingly left with a to go box. My little girl had a childâs plate of fried shrimp and fries. Ceiling looks like a night sky including shooting stars, a wishing well and a serenade from a man on a balcony đ

One of my favorite places to dine when I'm in the mood for Mexican cuisine. The creamy guacamole/cilantro dip is ADDICTIVE and I haven't found any place else in town that serves anything comparable. The Mexican village facade and central fountain make this a unique dining environment. Make sure to look up. If you have kids in your party, they'll love the starry sky ceiling and might even see a shooting star. And the fiddle playing animatronic Davy Crockett will probably amuse them too. The tortillas are made fresh in house and from your table you can watch them being made. Make sure you leave room for cheesecake. They have an assortment of delicious flavors. The service has been excellent everytime I've dined there. And the margaritas are excellent!

Food was great and on a busy night during spring break they were able to accommodate a large party! The server was very attentive throughout the evening, would definitely recommend and go back!

Came here today. We beat the church crowd and for seated right away. Food was good as aways. If you want to try something different, order the Fried Shrimp! They are excellent! One of my favorite places to have shrimp!

The atmosphere of this place is fun and unique, the food was great, and the service was phenomenal! I am not from the area but would go back in a heartbeat if I was!

Excellent food and excellent service! My family was there for my nephews graduation party! Everyone was very satisfied with all of the plates!!

If you are visiting near the Riverwalk and want great authentic Mexican food, walk into Mamacita's. The food, service and a big menu full of delicious choices makes this quaint restaurant a must on your list of places to try. The Margaritas are authentic as well and beyond delicious.

Starting with a round table that seated 12, we added a few and still had plenty of elbow room. The waitstaff was SUPER and the food was delicious. The noise level was acceptable and we could have good conversations. The dishes were presented well with large servings.

Very good food! Super place to take out of towners to experience Mexican food for the first time. Ambiance is great. The carne guisada is as good as you can anywhere and is very lean. I also like the nachos.

Went for business dinner. We started with the special house tequila margaritas and they were excellent. The salsa and the green salsa were also very good. One of us had the chimichanga platter and the rest had a fish meal. All were cooked very good.

Travelled to San Antonio for Business in August and this restaurant was next to the hotel. It was really nice inside, lots of space beautifully decorated. I got the shrimp Enchiladas. They were pretty tasty. Margarita was also yum and they don't skimp on the alcohol because I was definitely feeling it after just one. It was a nice restaurant and would go back. Service was good and friendly.

Walking into this restaurant you feel like you have entered a Spanish courtyard. There are a series of artificial storefronts that give structure to the dining room. It feels festive! The food was hot and fresh. There is a tortillarila on site. The staff was courteous and attentive. It was a pleasant dining experience.

Pretty big place lots of room. Great ambience, but food was lacking flavors. Being in San Antonio a hub for Mexican food, this place really lacked in good quality. Over all ok place if you are out with friends. Bar was good service was top notch. Will visit, but nothing to rave or crave about.

We Went to the Mamacitas restaurant on I10 West San Antonio very poor service i have my family with me we went about 8:40 pm........ reataurant not have meny people we have tables but no Waiters....waiting 30-35mint to see waiters....terrible service.

I thought the food here was fairly average. But the building and property is really nice! They have spent a lot of money on landscaping and decoration. It's a fun place for large crowds also.

When 3 PF us arrive we went to the bar for drinks and then we asked for chips and salsa. The bartender said we had to wait and then we would be served chips and salsa. Once we sat down I asked a Manager why I couldnât get served chips n salsa while we waited for the rest of the group. He said they donât serve chips and salsa for folks to enjoy until later in the evening which was a ridiculous response from the mgr he proceeded to say if we serve you and everyone else prior to dinner we would be broke. What Horrible customer service also they only had one bartender for over 13 people wanting to order a drink. Donât plan on returning anytime soon. Will continue with Mi Tierra Excellent customer service. Wonât return for a while to this restaurant. Bad customer service

It was late on a Saturday night and we had a group of 13 including visitors from Houston and NYC. Decided on Mamasitas because they do such a great job handling large groups (despite not taking reservations) and the folks from NYC were craving Mexican food. Mamasitas did not disappoint. When we arrived, they informed us that the wait would be 45 minutes. Half our party decided to head to the bar for margaritas and beer and therefore didn't even notice the wait while we visited with each other. I don't remember the exact price, but the frozen margaritas were very reasonably priced and were good sized. My niece ordered fresh tortillas for the table as soon as we sat down and they were hot and delicious (apparently Mamasitas is known for their great tortillas). We also enjoyed their chips and salsas (red and green). I don't know what everyone else ordered, but my husband and I got the Enchilada Verdes and Jalapeño shrimp brochette. Both meals were good, as was the service. The other thing I liked was that we could carry on a conversation with no problems (we were in a back room).

We arrived early on a Friday as we knew they did not take reservations but would be able to handle a large group (we had 15). We were driving in from Houston and the rest from different locations in San Antonio, so this was the ideal central place to meet up. We put our name on the list at 5:20pm and were seated within 10 minutes or so (as they needed to set-up our table). We were given a long table in a back room that wasnât as loud as the rest of the restaurant, which we really appreciated as two of our guests use hearing aids. Everyone except my husband loved the chips, green and red salsas, and flour tortillas. I got the Enchilada Verdes again â which I really enjoyed and my husband got the shrimp brochette with jalapeño bacon wrapped shrimp. He said they were OK but not that flavorful (âGringoâs version in Houston is betterâ). The waitress also did a great job juggling all the split checks (we had 5 checks for 15 people and not everyone was sitting with their family members). The only mishap was when the waitress slipped on some water on the floor and dropped two frozen mango margaritas on my sister. At least one was fully dumped into her new Mola purse from Panama. I think both the waitress and my sister were equally traumatized. Everything in my sisters purse was soggy, sticky, and a mess. Fortunately her phone still worked, but not some of the other items which had to be tossed. She said no one apologized at first. The waitress supposedly told her manager but when the 5 bills came out, there was no adjustment. My brother-in-law requested the manager, who then apologized, and comped my sisterâs receipt (only had a couple people on it). This was no where close to the cost of the purse. Iâm not sure about everyone else, but we still tipped the waitress 20% as she was young and Iâm sure didnât know how to handle it. Despite this mishap, we will likely return when weâre in San Antonio as their food is good, theyâre centrally located, and they handle large groups well. Tips: (1) Do yourself a favor and order a frozen Mango Margarita â theyâre delicious (just keep it away from your purse!) (2) they have Happy Hour on Fridays too (until 7pm) â this means we were able to get 1800 Margaritas for $5.95 each and the Mango Margarita for $5.50. Their soft drink prices are also very reasonable at $1.99.

Had only been here once years ago, couldn't remember if we liked it or not so we decided to stop as we were passing through on a Saturday evening. The 'security' riding through parking lot in a golf cart and a big sign at front door about lock your car is pretty scary- it's on a feeder off the highway not in a neighborhood - but maybe there's been issues!? Only had a ten min wait. Ordered the shrimp appetizer- suppose to have cheese and jalapeño- nope-frozen pre breaded - didn't like them. I ordered the pollo combo - the enchilada was in a tomato sauce - didn't skimp on the shredded chicken but I didn't like the taste of the sauce- open a can of generic tomato sauce pour on. Skimped on the cheese. The re fried beans were tasteless. As I bit into the chicken taco (plenty of shredded chicken) the juice ran down my hand even onto my shirt. Should not have had all that juice - not to use on a crispy taco & the second bite well the shell was too wet! And the so called cheese tostada - they used a 'taco shell made into a bowl and turned it over & poured plain ol cheese onto it - it was un edible- not crispy. The guacamole was ok. For my husband's entree, well, he doesn't like to complain about food, but I would have said: take this back! It was suppose to be fried flounder with a cream sauce and shrimp - again pre breaded frozen & it sure didn't taste like flounder! The rice was like tomato sauce was poured on it no seasoning. He did not finish his dinner - he was disappointed. On a better note - The staff is very attentive & they have someone constantly filling your glass with water or tea. And they give you plenty of tortillas- but we didn't really care for them- small & thin didn't have that fresh cooked taste. Well we decided to take a piece of cheesecake home for 'later' - omg- 6.00!! And as u can see by the picture- two bites and it's gone. We won't go back - there's way too many Mexican restaurants yet to try!

Great menu review it carefully. While the basic is Mexican if you read carefully you'll find Aisia , Mediterian. Great sauces . I had blackened red snapper in a great sauce. 14.95 With four giant shrimp skewered grilled came away stuffed. Very attentive staff. Five stars

Food was excellent! Guacamole was the best! They have a special salsa/sour cream blend that they bring out with the chips & salsa. It was so good & different!

Great place to eat. The food is great and the service is awesome. This is a clean restaurant with reasonable prices and great food

We went to Mamacita's on the recommendation of a local we met. There was not one thing we had that was not simply outstanding. Everything had a unique flavor and texture - none of the ordinary tex-mex where everything is about the same. Flour tortillas made fresh in front of you. Excellent service by Emanuel. Other servers seemed happy to be there and very friendly with their customers. The decor is a somewhat kitschy Mexican village, but adds to the festive atmosphere, especially for tourists and large parties. The weirdest thing is the life-size violin-playing Davy Crockett - certainly a hit with the kids. That does not detract from the fabulous food and drinks. We're eager to go back and try a number of other tasty- looking menu items.

The cheese enchiladas were delicious, and so were the rice and beans. LOVED the green dip! It was a great atmosphere and it was priced averagely just like any other restaurant. 10/10 would recommend!

Great food, reasonable prices. Good service, good location. It's great for all occasions; business meetings, family meals, couples and more.

They start out by bringing a large bowl of salsa and a bowl of a green sauce with the chips. I could have made a meal out of the green sauce & chips. I ordered the spinach enchiladas. They came with rice & beans (I had charro). It was absolutely amazing. The sauce on the enchiladas was like nothing is ever had. Our waitress was friendly, and very responsive. I highly recommend it.

After visiting Six Flags, we stop here to eat. The architecture features of the building is the first thing that catches you eye. I was greeted immediately upon entering the door and my family of four did not have to wait. Our server was attentive and wanted to truly make sure we enjoyed our first visit. I don't like cilantro, so I told her. She worked on ensuring my food had No cilantro. The tortillas were freshly made and truly melt in your mouth. My kids wanted to leave a $100 tip because they said, "The food is amazing, and our waitress is awesome!" I began writing this review as soon as I left the building. Every future San Antonio visit will include dinner at Mamacitas!

We selected Mamacita's on the recommendation of friends. I ordered Fajita's, Kathy ordered Fluata's. The atmosphere is fun with animated Davy Crockett playing the fiddle. Lunch started with chips, salsa, guacamole. Overall very nice place with great food.

This place felt like a tourist trap from the moment you walk in. I thought of casa Bonita references from South Park but worse. If you can get past the strange decor you would hope that the food is authentic or flavorful. Unfortunately I did not think it was either. It tasted like chain food and had not real flavor or spice. When a person in our party asked for them to make it "spicy" it appears that they did not do anything extra to it. When you have to cover the food in the salsa (which was fresh and good, not amazing) that does not say much for the food.

The enchiladas were Soo expensive but tasted bad and not worth $40 dollars for two plates didnât even get the money back do not recommend

Was a fun atmosphere. Green sauce was the best. Average Tex mex food. Nothing spectacular Average priced.

We were staying overnight at the La Quinta next door to this restaurant and decided not to fight anymore San Antonio traffic for the night, and walked over to have dinner. It was a Saturday night and we expected to have to wait for a table. We sat and waited for about 30-40 minutes and like others said, was never offered to sit at one of the tables in the bar area, and never told there were chips & dips set out to enjoy while waiting, but after seeing other people helping themselves, we had a small bowl of chips and salsa. Once seated, a guy brought a basket of chips, no salsas, and was gone. We waited and watched at least 6 waiters walk past us several times and several minutes. They even took notice of us, but never stopped to let us know they would be with us in a moment. I understand being busy and have worked in the restaurant business before, so this was a little unnerving to not even be acknowledged as just sitting with a basket of chips, no salsa, no utensils, no drinks...nothing. There were 2 of the waiters just standing at the doorway near the kitchen laughing and talking and even they never came to see if we had been waited on or anything, and this is after I made eye contact with both of them several times. Finally after almost 15 minutes, I had enough and stopped a man in a dress shirt & tie that had passed by taking some drinks to a table behind us that had been seated after us. I asked him if there was a reason we were not being served. He apologized and after about another 5 minutes, the female that was standing in the doorway having a good laugh finally comes over and asks us if we need drinks...really? Now the food was excellent, but there definitely needs to be some major training done on service.

The ambience s very colourful n lively. A true celebration place!! The food s nothing much to boast of. But the place s too colorful to lift anyone's spirit so it's a must visit!!

Excellent service from a very pleasant & efficient waitress. Table side preparation of queso flameado. Better than average michelada. Large servings do not make up for the mediocrity of the food.

As someone who understand and appreciates our Mexican heritage, this place is reminiscent of those lessons about the bad Mexicans and godly Texans taught in yesteryear. One cannot but see this in the figures all around the dining area. The food is an afterthought. Not much to write about here! It is just OK food. Won't chose to spend my money there!

The rain was pouring. I was hungry and wanted to eat before going to the hotel for the night. It was early for dinner - around 4:30. That's an off hour to eat - but Mamacita's still provided excellent service and food. Enjoyed!

The atmosphere is overwhelming like a Disney set. Food is made according to religious views on pork,as stated on a brochure on table and confirmed by locals. So if you are fine with non-traditional, tasteless, "mexican looking" food, go ahead. Otherwise, there are so many better restaurants in San Antonio that you could venture to. The service was just ok. The waitress was friendly, but kept forgetting what we ordered and didn't write anything down. Ice tea and chips were terrible and when in Texas, this is what we gage our meals with. If you can't get this right....well bless your heart as they say in Texas. Also there are no windows in the restaurant and unfortunately a high rate of crime in the area left several vehicles that night in the parking lot were broke into. They have no cameras, nor security other than a man driving around in a golf cart. This place is a no never ever again. If you want real San Antonio, even the chain restaurants Jims or Taco Cabana or Chacho's Nachos would fare a much better local flavor!

Spacious with nice food. They have high chairs. Well decorated atmosphere and has Davey Crockett on a wall. They have a flaming cheese appetizer you have to try. Ask for their home made hot sauce it is nice. Enchiladas are nice and are fresh.

I wouldn't normally start a review with a quip about the beer size, but it was huge, not large, and it was funny when we saw them. Which went along with the atmosphere of Mamacita's. It's kitsch San Antonio, with an animatronic Davey Crockett playing the violin on top of the "Alamo"! It's pretty hilarious ;-) but the craftsmanship of design of the restaurant is well done. Our waiter was really great, and all of the staff we interacted with were fun and helpful. We had a really good time. It's a lot of fun for families, and they can take big groups. The food - the food just doesn't cut it for all of the great Tex-Mex food available in San Antonio. Mexican food restaurants can (and should be) judged on their salsa, tortilla soup, enchiladas, and tortillas...and rice and beans and guacamole! Seriously, there really wasn't any difference in taste to any of it. There is also a green "salsa" of some type that didn't taste like anything. I have to say, we were disappointed, because we really did have a great experience at the restaurant.

The atmosphere was ok. The green salsa is good. The margarita was good. It was downhill from there. I ordered a combination with taco al carbon (no flavor) and a flauta (which was wrapped in a flour tortilla - not corn. Weird and no flavor). It came with charro beans, which I never received even though I asked for them twice. My husband got the asada and it was so salty it was difficult to eat. If you want good Tex-mex there are so many other options in San Antonio that are awesome. Try one of those and pass on this one.

This place was GREAT!! Some of the best Mexican Food I have eaten in a while. The tortillas are super fresh, since they make them right there!! The green sauce is the best green sauce I have ever eaten. When I go back to San Antonio, I will come back to Mamacita's again! No Questions Asked!!

This is a beautiful restaurant. We were greeted quickly. Very fun atmosphere. Our food arrived hot and the fresh tortillas were great. We had a to go order as well. The server made sure everything stayed hot and included all of the sauces and plenty of chips and tortillas as well.

Great food and service. We got the fajitas for 4 and had so much food left over . Wendy was very attentive waitress, making or experience exceptional .Everything was great!

First time here! The setting is great, like sitting in the middle of a plaza in an old town. We had a group lunch. Portion sizes were very good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The avocado salsa was great. I had the Soup and Caesar salad. The Chicken tortilla soup was not a hilt for me. It was watery, not a lot of flavor and large chunks of chicken. The Caesar was good and the grilled chicken on top was tasty. Service can be improved.

A very large, high-ceiling space full of tables. Definitely a feeling of openness and light. Great food! We'll certainly be back next time we're in SA!

My 9 year old son and I were staying at the La Quinta Inn (Medical Park) and wanted to walk somewhere to eat. Saturday night. 40 minute wait. Totally worth it! I am vegan, but decided to go vegetarian for the meal and I had one of the vegetarian combo plates. Extremely well priced and so good! Service was wonderful, the place had a fun energy, and I would absolutely go back the next time I am in San Antonio. YUM!

Everything was extremely mild. The sizes were generous, but I definitely wanted more heat. I almost felt like asking for hot sauce. The environment was not bad. It looks like a Mexican plaza. They even have a fiddling David Crockett by the Alamo. Itâs instagram-worthy, but definitely would not go back.

Came alone & sat in the bar area to watch the soccer games. Had very good food/drink service from the bar staff. Their house avocado dip was steller as was the queso..the chips are made in house & perfectly cooked light & crisp. Had the Combination de Pollo w/ chicken enchilada covered in chili con carne & chicken taco. The enchilada was excellent, the taco not as good (shell completely fell apart).

Everything that you would expect when going to lunch with a group from work. Friendly staff, great food.

The chips and salsa were good, but the chicken was rubbery. The main dinning room one big, room therefore loud. Wait time wasn't bad for Sat. night.

This was a business lunch and the food was good. It was not too loud. The service was friendly and quick. Overall I would go back again.

Nothing special, not awful, not great.....filled a void and was not expensive. Margarita was good.

The guacamole/cilantro dip is wonderful! The Mexican village facade are a fun addition. We loved that the ceiling has twinkling stars. The fiddle playing Davy Crockett robot seems straight out of DisneyWorld. The tortillas are made fresh in house. Many different kinds of delicious cheesecakes. Good service!

If you want some delicious and tender fajitas this is your go-to place! They were fresh they were tender and very well seasoned! The service was great too!

We ate here today for a quick bite before heading to the airport. Our first visit here. We lived in San Antonio in the past and love Tex-Mex. the best thing was the home made flour tortillas. The salsas were original and we enjoyed them both. Not my favorite San Antonio Tex-Mex restaurant (that's the Alamo Cafe) but a good one nevertheless.

I was really tired of the same ole, same ole restaurant's. If you like the higher end places that over charge for just for atmosphere and loud music and lord knows San Antonio has their fair share of those. After reading reviews for a couple hours, looking for a new restaurant my wife and I decided to give Mamacitas a try for the first time today. Yes it is a bit pricey itself, but the service was great and the food was really good. The atmosphere was just right for that feel good Mexican atmosphere. Nothing too loud and tables not all crowded up like most of their competitors. I am definitely going back. Note: I am not one to write reviews, but I thought this might help someone if you are like me and need a new Mexican restaurant to go out nice and have a nice outing and not regret spending too much.

What a delight! Our family of 5 was seated immediately. Prompt friendly service with a smile. Food was exquisite! I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

My family loves Mamacita's and Mamacita's sauce but I'm not a huge fan this sort of food. When I go I get the tortilla soup or the walnut salad - both are delicious! In this most recent visit we had the best server ever. He was thoughtful, patient, contentious, intuitive and present. He made the entire expire nice for us go so well. Jason did a wonderful job and we certainly appreciated it! ***Rating is average for food.

First time visiting this Restaurant. Food was very good. Drinks were good also. Party of 26 people for a late supper. Service was good with friendly staff.

We go to Mamacita's very often and it's because of José the Bartender. The food is typical tex-mex (not Mexican) and not very original but it's tasty and plentiful. But José turned us on to two best-kept secrets at Mamacita's...their hamburgers and the portabella fried mushrooms appetizer. The burgers come in two versions. One has guacamole and one has bacon. Both are big, juicy and accompanied with homemade fries. The bun is an artisan roll and the patty is thick and fire-grilled. It comes with the traditional lettuce leaves, tomato slices and rings of white onion. When I'm in the mood for a burger, I think of Mamacita's. The mushroom appetizer is amazing. Big portabella mushrooms are thick-sliced and dipped in a tempura batter. It's a big plate and usually take half of them home. Hubs has also ordered their Shrimp Diabolo, Pasta Mariscos and Blackened Red Snapper and loves it. It's very fresh, doesn't taste frozen and comes with a nice salad. But he especially loves the Fried Shrimp. Tastes like the sea, fresh and crispy. It's big enough to share with me. Now José caters to our every need and does it with a smile. He engages us in lite conversation and always asks about our wellbeing. As we sit in the bar area versus the main dining room, we get great attention from him. We once came in on a busy Saturday night (that's a rare event for us) and he was busily attending bar. When seated at the bar area on weekends, only drinks and appetizers are served. But when José saw us, we were given his always first-class service and access to full menu. The Modelo Especial on tap is AWESOME with their fajitas or enchiladas or just chips and salsas. It's a sure thing we will return again and again.

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive wait staff and delicious margaritas! I had beef tacos al carbon; I didn't think the steak was all that great. It seemed like a cheaper cut of steak. Everything elsw was excellent. As an appetizer they give chips, fresh salsa, and a creamy, green tomatillo-guacamole-like dip. Delight! I couldn't stop eating it.

Really good Mexican food in a fun setting. We loved the fact that Davey Crockett overlooks the dining room. This is a perfect restaurant for families with children. Grown ups will like it too.

After taking our orders our waiter disappeared. We eventually started to run low on salsa and water. We ended up asking another tables waiter to assist us. When they came back with our salsa and such they informed us that our waiter had gone on a break. Apparently when he went on break he did not bother to have any of the other waiters serve us. The bad service continued throughout the meal. It was as if we were forgotten. I asked to speak to the manager and told him what had happened. His response was that he would immediately look into the matter and find our server who had been missing the entire meal. Unbelievably the manager never returned. The food was okay but not good enough to justify horrible service. While I assume that the service may not always be this bad rest assured that the manager will probably do nothing if it is that bad. There are so many good restaurants in San Antonio that it simply is not worth it to go to one that doesn't care about its customers. We will not be going back to Mamacitas.

We lived this place. Everything we ordered was great. We even ordered the cheesecake at the end. The atmosphere was so fun. The salsa, chips and guacamole dip they bring to the tables are fantastic. We would definitely go here again.

Good food and wonderful service. We had a large group and a wide variety of orders. I had the tacos al carbon and I was satisfied.

Very interesting design, entertaining just looking around. Had GREAT homemade tortillas, BEST salsa and green sauce anywhere. The Cheesecake was awesome. Will go again for sure. Fantastic service

Traveling for business and chose this restaurant based on reviews. We each had a different entree (tacos, chimi and carnitas) and we all enjoyed the food. Chips were fresh and the green dip (avocado, cilantro something) was delicious.

we went at 2:00pm for lunch the service was prompt, the food was phenomenal, there was 6 in our party and all enjoyed their food.

Passed by this restaurant many times and always wanting to drop in. Finally the day came. Easy access to building lots of parking in back. Also wheel chair accessible.Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted immediately. There are no booths in this location only tables. We were seated and in about 2 minutes our waitress came by with chips, green sauce and chips. The chips were so good not greasy, The green sauce was the best I have in awhile. The hot sauce was good. We ordered drinks no coke products only pepsi. There is a full bar. The menu has Mexican food and American food. Ordered fajitas for two with chicken, beef, shrimp, beans, rice, guac, cheese, pico and sour cream. Well worth the 29.99. The service was excellent. Was so full didn't have room for desert. Our bill was 47.00 which included 2 dr. peppers, pina colda, and fajitas for 2 which was very reasonable for the amount of food we received. THanks for a great experience.

An animatronic David Crocket overlooks the dining area, which is made to look like an open market or town square. The kids were fascinated by that, and the tortilla machine. Ok to average food. Very tasty meats...not so much with the rice and refried beans. Mild salsa, but the guacamole is very strange. Wonderful tortillas. Lots of options for food, drinks, & desserts. Looks like the place can handle groups and parties well.

When I lived in San Antonio, my husband and I would come for drinks almost every week. The chips and salsa and margaritas are my all-time favorite. Any order of chips comes with complimentary salsa and green sauce (similar to guacamole or lay's ranch dip mixed). The chicken fajitas are absolutely delicious! When you're in town, don't skip this place. It's located right off the the 10 and very near the medical center. The bartenders are very friendly and professional. The ambiance is excellent for any occasion. It's really hard for me to find good Mexican food as good as Mamacita's now that I've tried their restaurant!

Mamacita's is a family favorite. We are totally bummed the New Braunfels and San Marcos locations closed, but this San Antonio location is fun, Davy Crockett and all. We get a queso flameado every time. Fajitas and Shrimp are always good. And love the soup and salad. Just yum.

Very nice, upscale establishment. I always had one of their steaks and never had a problem with any of my orders. Service was good and everyone was friendly. Good place to eat.
Crazy busy for a Sunday at 5:00 pm
Mom had fish tacosđ. I assumed the fish was grilled-no it was fried. Dad had 3 crunchy tacos, son had chicken fajitas. Very busy and service was good but crowded!
