After walking Flatbush ave for 15min we decided to pick this place for our first dinner in Brooklyn. Nice, friendly atmosphere, mojito cocktail happy hour (5$), delicious food.

Went to mango see for brunch and it was delish! I had the oxtail and grits, others had the jerk salmon and waffle, and Mac and cheese. We also had the unlimited mimosas. The only thing I would say, it was a little pricy. Especially for the grits and oxtail. While it was good, I wasn't convinced that it wasn't just stew beef shredded.

If you are in Brooklyn and looking for some great food and excellent service - head on down to Flatbush Ave. The Mango Seed Experience hits the spot - small, intimate, great food and good value. The blacken fish sandwich is a must. Highly recommended.

First time in an authentic Caribbean restaurant in NYC. Would go back in a heartbeat. Friendly staff, and mouth-watering-ly delicious food.

I really liked this place. The music is great and the food is delicious. A very nice place to just unwind. We had the Jerk wings and the fish taco (I think it was called).

We visited on a Sunday early afternoon which contributed to the atmosphere since this restaurant has a Sunday all-you-can-drink mimosas and rum punch brunch special. I can't comment on the quality of the drinks since we were driving out of town right after lunch, but the others in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying! The Sunday brunch menu is a bit limited, but everything on it looked good. I had the oxtail and parmesan grits - oxtail was braised to a perfect tenderness and had nice warm (but not hot) Caribbean spices. The grits were the best I've ever had - creamy, buttery, cheesy goodness! Grits were a bit thicker than what I've had elsewhere, but that helped them hold up to the sauce in the oxtail. My wife had a fried coconut chicken and parmesan grits. Fish was done perfectly with a light batter with low level of spice and barely detectable coconut (not a bad thing!) My daughter had jerk salmon and waffle - very unique combination that worked really well! The gentle heat of the salmon was offset nicely by a cooked banana on the side. The waffle was just crispy enough to hold up to the warm salmon without being excessivey crispy. The music was VERY loud, but it is a bar setting after all and has a very small seating area.

We ordered the fish tacos and jerk chicken. Both were so tasty. Great combination of flavours. The chicken was super juicy and a little spicy. Would love to go back to try more dishes as they all looked great. Ambiance was fun, music was really loud. Felt like a club. Highly recommended!

I stumbled upon this place on Instagram and was dying to try it for brunch. Instead, we ended up going for dinner in celebration of my birthday. Our server was nice and polite and the hostess or manager came to check on my partyou several times. Everyone really enjoyed their food choices and the price was right for the portions received. The drinks were also very good, but they could've been bigger given the price. I definitely look forward to visiting this place again!

The items on the brunch menu all sound spectacular. I settled for the fried chicken and waffles and my partner settled on the jerk salmon, waffles and scrambled eggs with cheese. I ate half of the salmon and eggs I could barely eat my order. THE DOWN SIDE OF THE MEAL....the mimosas were HORRIBLE!!! The mimosas were overly flavored with extremely SWEET nectar,UGH--not worth buying the unlimited package.

I don't give it the full 5 stars because the music is so loud that everybody has to shout over it to hear each other, resulting in the place being extremely loud, and because the drinks came after the food. This doesn't matter too much though because the jerk chicken is absolutely incredible and the rum runners are perfect. Just make sure to get there before 7 so you can enjoy the happy hour price.

Went for happy hour on a Saturday and had a great time- the back patio area is very cool and had a dj. The service was excellent and the happy hour drinks were stellar- I had the “crookyln” which had bourbon, gingerale and black pepper strawberry jam and was fantastic! My girlfriend had the rum punch and a lemonade drink, both of which she liked. We also had some jerk chicken which was spicy and delicious. 👍🏼👍🏼

Found this restaurant on trip advisor after walking around for 20 minutes and finding anything. The food and service were both excellent. For starter I had seafood tacos and my partner had mac n cheese. For main I had the jerk salmon and my partner had oxtail. We shared a bottle of wine and then indulged in a couple of cocktails. Great night and no complaints at all.

Absolutely love their Brunch with the unlimited mimosas. Also had the oxtail and grits which I absolutely love. Definitely will be returning.

I eat out every weekend. I saw a friend posted he was dining here, decided to try it. OMG. I was very impressed. I had grilled salmon. It was very tasty. I will definitely dine again and also recommend this restaurant.

.....But this is one mango I'd be willing to drop. The menu says one thing and the food does another, and not in a good way. :( The jerk chicken was not spicy. The buffalo bleu cheese was spicier than the jerk - there's a huge problem there! The rice and peas came out as rice and beans! and It was dirt dry. Ick! The service was excellent - you have a great many waitresses/servers. The ambiance is a gem. And the hot beats at the front is unique. The best thing I've tasted on your menu thus far are the plantains. Good luck!

Went there on a Friday night with friends. Food was delicious and service was okay. The waitress could have been a little more attentive, but they were friendly enough. Had the Pico Jerk Salmon, and I was very pleased. Mac and Cheese and Jerk Wings were also a hit!! Happy Hour drinks were a bit watered down, but full price apparently means full liquor so not disappointed. Overall great experience. Tight spot but great for friends or intimate dinner.

I stopped in for some curry goat and also ordered the mango salad, rice and peas and broccoli. I chilled at the bar whIle waiting for my food and enjoyed the vibe. It wasn't crowded but there were a few people at the bar. The music was good and it's definitely a spot I need to return and sit and enjoy my food. All of food I ordered to go was delicious. The mango salad was sooo tasty and flavorful and I remember being mad that it came in a small bowl. I will definitely return and enjoy this spot for some great food.

I loved the ambience. They had a live deejay playing soca, reggae, and calypso. It had an urban feel to it. The waitresses were very friendly. I had the fish and it was well worth the money I spent on it. I enjoyed it! I would definitely eat here again.

The food in this place was AWESOME! That's all I can say. It was crowded they told us 45 minutes to wait but it only ended up being about 15 minutes. The service was fast and friendly. The mimosas were everything! This was my first time in Brooklyn AND at this restaurant and loved it. It was the best part of my trip. Anytime I go to Brooklyn I have to eat here now. It's a must!

Had my first brunch here on a Sunday and I was pretty impressed! The chicken and Belgian waffle was a real treat. Kind and accommodating staff, which is truly appreciated.

I went with a friend last minute to grab brunch. It is definitely local and could use some help with decor but the food was delicious and the staff was warm and friendly. The mimosas came in unlimited in carafes but were a bit sweet and needed a little more champagne but that can be remedied! The fish and grits was prefect and just the right portion. I need to go again soon to to test it further but it was a promising spot in this hood. We desperately need new hangout spots so here is hoping....

It’s a spot I frequent with my husband and friends and it rarely ever disappoints..the jerk chicken and waffles is amazing such great flavors and the grits and fish is also great it’s one of fav places I like to dine out at

My husband surprised me with a family dinner at the MangoSeed after I told him I wanted to try it after seeing so many delicious dishes on Instagram. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience and hope to return to try the much talked about brunch menu. The only "issue" I had was the fact that the menu seemed somewhat limited in comparison. For example, I had seen multiple pictures of the jerk wings but when we visited, the server said they weren't on the menu anymore. Overall, everyone in my party of 8 enjoyed every aspect of their meal. The decor was very nice and homely. I look forward to returning!

The restaurant is somewhat small and popular so we had an expected wait of about 30 minutes when arrived as a walk in on a Friday night. The hostess, Jamilah was communicative and kept checking in on us while we waited. After we were seated, our server was helpful and the food and drinks came to the table quickly. All that being said, I would have gladly waited for another hour for the Jerk Salmon Pasta. The meal was cooked absolutely perfectly. I was glad to have leftovers so I could enjoy the pasta again for breakfast. I'm curious about the other menu items but I'll likely re-order the same meal again next time.

This is a very small restaurant, Sunday brunch is very busy but worth it. The food is fresh ingredients and tastes I wouldn't expect to enjoy! I had a veggie omelette and oxtail Parmesan grits! I only wish more veggies in my omelette since there was spinach, sweet peppers & cheese. The oxtail & grits were an expectedly perfect combo. The service is great, pleasant and professional. My friends got waffle and jerk chicken, generous portions. I like this place, will visit again.

I have been interested in visiting the Mangoseed after seeing a lot of their delicious dishes on Instagram. The food and drinks were amazing! Especially the jerk chicken and Mac and cheese. The only issue I had was the menu seemed limited and different than what I'd been seeing on Instagram. For example, the jerk chicken wings...I do think know if they'd just run out or if they just didn't offer anymore. I would love to go back for Brunch and can't wait to do so!

We enjoyed our dinner here on a recent Saturday night. Luckily we made reservations for our early dinner because by 6:00 all tables were filled. For non-meat eaters, the options are limited. My salmon was excellent, and the portion was more than enough. The servers were friendly and helpful.

A great place to eat Caribbean food in Brooklyn. Well cooked and a little spicy on it. I had a cocktail with black pepper in it, really tasty and nice to try.

This was my first visit to Flatbush, Brooklyn a largely Caribbean neighborhood, and the food did not disappoint! The jerk chicken was spicy and delicious. My friend ordered the whole fish and it was extremely well cooked. We also ordered a mac and cheese, and a side of plantains. The drinks were strong and we went on a saturday when they had a live dj playing hip hop and reggae. It is a really fun and warm environment. I wish I could stay long enough to try their brunch. This restaurant is conveniently located. It is right by prospect park's ice skating rink and kings theater. Short distance to the zoo and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens as well. Give it a try next time you are in Brooklyn!

First time trying mango seed and I found it to be very small and could easily get filled up. There is a back part which is ok. I guess they could open it up in the summer but it didn't look too nice back there. It was night time so I couldn't really see how it looked. The back area was ok nothing special. The menu is limited but the food is good. Small portions are what's given. The drinks are nice, I had the sunset drink which was pretty good not strong at all. I went with my girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. It's a lounge as well so there's music. Not bad I would go again.

My family and I went there this past Sunday after my sister completed the NYC 1/2 Marathon. Great service as soon as you walk through the door. Everyone was very welcoming and we were seated promptly in their indoor/outdoor area in the back-which has controlled heating/air so is quite comfortable. The menu has a lot of great selections. We ordered the fried chicken & waffles, fish & grits, salmon & waffles and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waiter was attentive and we had a wonderful afternoon. The only negative was that there was no hot cocoa (after being in the chill during the marathon we wanted some cocoa), or black tea (very odd since black teas are pretty standard) tho on the menu. With a location on Flatbush Avenue, once the manager saw these items were not in stock (we arrived 45 min after the restaurant opened) he/she could've sent someone out to purchase black teas & hot cocoa from one of the many markets in the area to hold them over until they received their usual delivery-there's even an organic market not too far north on Flatbush Ave. All in all, a nice spot with great service and great food, priced very well.

I work in the city and have to be on flatbush every friday for a class im taking. So after work i head straight to bk and have an hour to kill before my class. My first visit was last week (5/17/13) i had the carribbean burger. The meat was seasoned.really well and was topped with pineapple and avocado. It was soooo tasty. Even the fries were seasoned to prefection. I could only finish half. To drink i had the white sangria. The greeter was super polite. He pulled out my seat for me and was just a doll. The wait staff was also very pleasant as well. My second visit was yesterday (5/24/13) i had to try hard not to get the burger again. I decided on the rainbow trout with fries. It was soooooo good. Im not even a fan of fish like that but im sooo glad i decided to try it. Im thinking of what i want next time. I noticed the blackened fish sandwhich on the menu and also their three cheese mc and cheese. Counting down the days until next friday!

Checking out the neigbourhood online, we saw there were plenty of places supplying food within a short distance of our rented apartment in Brooklyn but most were takeaways. Just when we were beginning to despair we came upon Mangoseed. We ate there yesterday evening and will almost certainly return before we fly home. It was busy, a bit noisy but in a nice friendly sort of way, and soon filled up with everything from young couples to families with small, extraordinarily well-behaved kids. Although our part of London has a number of Caribbean restaurants we have been promising ourselves to visit, it was in NYC that we finally got round to sampling Caribbean cuisine. Our very helpful server advised us which dishes could be shared (we both hate being served huge portions and then leaving half), so with her encouragement we went for broke and shared curried goat with rice and peas and garlic-braised cabbage as sides, leaving enough room to share a delicious dessert of warm banana bread with ice cream. A thoroughly enjoyable meal at a very modest price. This lovely little restaurant is obviously extremely popular with the locals but deserves to be better known beyond the neighbourhood.

My co workers and I came here after work. The restaurant was a bit crowded. We waited about 20-25 minutes for a table. The restaurant is not huge, so the wait was ok. Food was great, everyone, except for myself had the jerk chicken and they loved it. I had a burger. We enjoyed our drinks, unfortunately we could only order one happy hour drink at happy hour price. The drink was so good we ordered another round at full price. Prices were reasonable. Food was great. Swing by and see for yourself. You won't regret it.

Today, we had a party of 14 ladies get together to enjoy brunch together; as many us had not seen each other since our days of being actively involved with the Brooklyn Chiefs youth football & cheer organization & MangoSeed restaurant was the selected venue. Though the venue is small in size, their hosts were gracias to accommodate our large party which was to be a party of 18 but only 14 ladies attended. MangoSeed policy is to only seat parties of 6 or less but since their website did not state such policy & we were present they made arrangements for us to enjoy they Awesome brunch menu, great unlimited brunch drinks & incredible music! We had a BLAST to state the least & I highly recommend everyone to experience MangoSeed Sunday Brunch event! Menu was limited for our Vegan attendees but they made it work & were happy with their selections. I, myself, had the jerk salmon & waffles and it was spectacular! Please note the unlimited brunch drinks stop promptly at 2:30 PM, so get there early--by 12PM to enjoy all unlimited cocktails, they open at 11 AM on Sunday. Chandira

Food & drinks were delicious. Nice spot to go to before attending a concert. My friends & I enjoyed this spot.

Could not fault this restaurant at all. Arrived quite late around 10pm on a Tuesday evening and it was still extremely busy. Good efficent service, lovely cocktails and superb food, none of it was expensive either. Lovely vibe and would most certainly recommend the place and go there when next in that area. A little gem of a restuarant

Whenever I get back to BK Mango Seed is a destination. Great neighborhood vibe, always good Carribean food (jerk wings are a must!) and the bar is always full of interesting folks. If you want a feel of the old/new Brooklyn, a place to chill after work or spend our weekends, Mango Seed is a good option.

We were fortunate to find this fantastic restaurant while in the area attending our first concert at the Kings Theater. The staff was super friendly, the food was great, and the Happy Hour drinks were tasty and enough to warm up the chilly evening. I had the Mango Pico De Gallo Jerk Salmon which was amazing. The restaurant was full of both concert goers and regulars and the staff treated both equally with warmth and attentiveness. I will definitely be going back to the Mango Seed!

This quickly became one of my favorite brunch spots after my first visit. The fusion of West Indian and American food is really amazing. One of the best dishes is the Oxtail and Parmesan Grits. Also liked the cocktails.
Must for Brunch!
MangoSeed food and service is very good. Every time I visit NY, I go there for Brunch or at least an early dinner. My favorite is the oxtails and grits. Their waffles are delicious melts in your mouth and fried chicken. Mango Mimosa too! The service is always good and we went for Valentine's Day Brunch, place was crowded but they got us in and food came right out.
