I went last night. I had a ceasar salad and chicken quesadilas!! They ran out of salsa which i a bit irritated about bc they would have never mentioned it if I had not asked for it. I ate my food with sour cream only. Still good!! I understand, it was Cinco de mayo!! Such is life! 🤷🏽

Stopped in for a quick lunch before tooling around this city. Sat at the small but nice bar and was one of three people. Waitress/bartender was nice and attentive. Ordered an unsweetened ice tea and the turkey and grain burger with the salad option. The burger was amazing. I think it may have been one of the best turkey burgers I've had out at a restaurant. The bacon and Gouda with the apple and mustard was just so perfect. I can see myself craving this burger. The Caesar salad was just that - boring and basic but I didn't care since the burger was so good. Seems like a good brunch place and was fairly busy. Lots of choices on the menu and has outdoor seating.

Terrific lunch, lots of choices, top notch wait staff. This place runs like a well-oiled machine. Very upbeat, fun place that knows what it's doing.

There were 12 in our party and we had made a reservation, and when we arrived, they told us that they didn't have it. They seated us at two booths next to each other, which was okay. The service was extremely slow. At one point, the manager came over and asked us if we had gotten our food and went to check on it but it still took a long time. The food was very good, especially the banana bread French toast and the chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes. It's a shame the service is so poor because we really enjoyed the food.

This was a great spot for Sunday brunch. They have a varied menu, but most of us got the Marathon breakfast, which included 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, potatoes, and toast. They let you pick any pancakes on the menu, and I just couldn't pass up choc chip cookie dough--who thought of that? They were really heavy, so I don't know if I could have had a whole plate of them, but everyone wanted to try them, so they were a crowd-pleaser. If you want to eat a more healthy meal, go for the control freak omelet or salad. They have a nice selection of hot teas, too.

Marathon Grill has the best Vegetarian Chili in the City. This is my go-to dish, especially on cold evenings. There is something about their veggie chili that makes it feel like your eating something substantial and it is perfectly seasoned.

Marathon Grill has a large menu with something that should satisfy every diner, whether you want a sandwich, salad, full meal, or something else. We had a very well done caesar salad and grilled scallops. The scallops were well presented and cooked, and they were quite edible. Not the best, but good enough. Service was decent. The place can be noisy so a seat in the back may help on this front. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the good (and middle-of-the-road generally).

Marathon Grill is in a prime location in downtown Philadelphia. A short walk from office buildings and hotels. The food is good, I had Mahi Mahi tacos, which were grilled (not fried), served promptly and with tasty garnishes. Lots of options on the menu to accommodate different palates from burgers to salads to breakfast all day. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Pro Tip - if you need to drive to the restaurant be aware parking in this area is challenging; try to find a nearby lot (plan ahead) versus street parking. Marathon Grill can get crowded so do yourself a favor a make a reservation via Open Table.

Walked in with a party if twelve that they were able to accommodate. Menu is large with many types of cuisines. The pierogis were excellent Crab cakes were just ok. Prices were extremely reasonable. Service was excellent.

Very fast service. The staff is very kind. It's also clean. The menu is varied. The food is okay, nothing more.

This place was recommend by a local. The food is decent. The milkshakes are quite good. The Philly cheesesteak wontons are a must try!

Decided to eat here during trip through Philadelphia to Washington. Great place: service, food and everything Definitely recommend! Evgeny & Nataly, Moscow, Russia 04 January 2020

The staff here was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a burger for dinner and it was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the beer selection though. Hop on the craft-beer bandwagon! If you're serving American fare, have a big selection of drafts for me. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this place.

Went here for breakfast with a client and it was very good. Fresh food, great breakfast options, and friendly staff in the heart of philly. In walking distance of most of the chain hotels downtown.

Even on a Tuesday evening this place was jumping. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. I had the ginger salmon and it was delicious. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Menu options were varied and I believe there is a list of specials each evening. By the looks of things this place is a favorite with the locals and it is easy to see why.

A good recommendation from the hotel staff when asked for somewhere local, fairly priced and serving good Philly cheesesteaks and salads. Our concierge said she ate here regularly. The salads were plentiful and tasty with a great balance of flavours. There was also the opportunity to 'design your own salad' from lists of ingredients, dressings toppings etc. We ate here more than once on our stay.

My friends and I needed a place in Center City Philadelphia that opened earlier for breakfast. Marathon Grill was the only place we found that opened at 7. We weren’t disappointed. The food was very good with excellent portions. We enjoyed it enough to go back the next day even though the time was later and we had more to choose from.

I would go to this place just for the Apple pie! However, everything we ate was really delicious, service was outstanding, and it was an easy place to get in and out of. This restaurant does Uber eats as well.

Looking for a nearby place to have a late breakfast, I found Marathon Grill on TripAdvisor. It was a great find: essentially a modern diner with a varied menu including all-day breakfast. I had blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs, toast and redskin potatoes and coffee - nothing fancy or fu-fu. The portions were generous and the service very attentive. The manager came by to check that everything was OK and opened the windows to take advantage of unusually nice weather. The check, including tax, was $24.30, well worth it for Center City Philadelphia. In summary, Marathon Grill provided good food, good service and good value!

Had dinner at Marathon Grill after a recommendation from our hotel concierge. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. The three of us all enjoyed our meals - honey glazed chicken, blackened chicken tortellini, chicken parm, with the Philly steak wontons as an appetizer. I would definitely recommend to others visiting the area.

We just ate breakfast at this location and I can't imagine a better spot. They had classic food but the option for their own take on it. We came with 4 kids and they were quite accommodating. Everyone in our group liked our food and it was not too expensive.

Had the Salmon and asparagus with mash potato all very tasty. What made it even better was the delivery was on point considering how traffic can be here in the city! 🙌🏼 To both Marathon and delivery you get an A+ in my book

First, I would like to say the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Out waiter was professional, prompt, and friendly. Unfortunately, this restaurant is the loudest food establishment that I have ever visited. I noticed the volume right away but thought it would settle down and never did. Conversation was impossible. Our waiter had to ask me to repeat things because she couldn't hear me. My father had to take his hearing aids out because of the noise. It's too crowded and with too many tables. Wait staff were constantly running into each other because of limited space and I was constantly being brushed by people walking by because of tight spaces. I would really like to give this place a better rating but my ears still hurt from being there. Never again.

I visited Marathon Grill with my family before a show on the Avenue of the Arts/Broad St. It was a quick walk to the theater after dinner. I've been here many times in the past, and the food is always good. Most times were for lunch, so it was a treat to try the dinner specials. My wife chose glazed pork tenderloin, which was tasty and moist. She loved the mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli that came with the pork. My daughter and I ordered jambalaya, which was rich and full of flavor with just a bit of heat (a little light on shrimp in my daughter's opinion). My son went with a burger, which he was able to customize to his liking. He reported that it was cooked to perfection and had great flavor (he doesn't like bland burgers). For dessert, we shared a brownie sundae and lemon-iced pound cake, both served with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream. They disappeared quickly. The service was attentive, and they can keep things moving if you let them know that you have a show or some other deadline. The seating is tight, but it's OK once you're at your table. But I don't envy the staff that has to keep negotiating the close seats and tables.

Our family of 5 was quickly greeted and seated. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu questions we had. I ordered the grilled salmon, with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The meal came in a timely fashion and tasted delicious. So points for the main attraction. Two items that could be improved are: 1. Bathrooms were untidy, it was about 8pm. 2. They seem to have a work room in the center of the restaurant and dishes were clattering for some time. It was hard to relax until that stopped.

The food was great. It was an upscale diner/bar & grill. The prices were extremely reasonable for the city. I would go back again.

Marathon Grill was great and very walkable from our hotel. The server was great, excellent menu. Typical city restaurant with tables very close together. Don't expect a booth if you are a party of two! We ordered off the brunch menu & it did not disappoint!

A group of us went here for dinner. Easy walk from the hotel. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. We each had a different plate. I chose the Pork Chop special. Wonderful presentation and taste. They offered fruit for dessert which I also had. Nice way to end our day.

My wife and I eat here every time we visit Philly and we recommend it to everyone we know. It’s American Bistro and the food and service are great. I can honestly say that in the 10-12 visits to this restaurant in the past 3-4 years we have never had a bad meal and the service has aways been great.

Classic diner with a modern look. Fantastic place to grab brunch or any breakfast food you can think of. In the evening, there is also a bar, so not a bad place to meet up with colleagues either. 10/10

I have gone here numerous times for breakfast or lunch, most recently for breakfast. It's a little pricey, but this after all the business/shopping part of Center City. The food is consistently excellent--high quality ingredients and well prepared--and the service is good also. The decor is modern-casual: an open feel (although the tables are quite close together) and lots of metal. It can be a little noisy at peak meal times.

This is a great place for a decent meal. The staff was friendly and prompt and the prices were not bad. The cuisine featured a wide range. The calamari was very good and flavorful. Really wished I had tried one of the desserts.

With a group of 6, we were facing a 45 minute wait outside in 95 degree heat at another establishment, and found this place on our phones. After a quick call confirming no wait, we quickly walked over, and were promptly seated. Service was excellent, vibe was casual, and food was what you would expect for brunch, with no complaints from anyone. I definitely would not hesitate to go here again for brunch.

Service and ambiance excellent- every staff person was truly outstanding. Prices are very good. Portions very nice size. Great location right off Rittenhouse Square. Only issue was that the food taste while okay, was just that- I wish it were better.

My husband and I had lunch here. The food was very good. Service was excellent as well. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. If in town again, I'd definitely return. I had the grilled Salmon and mashed potatoes, starting with a house salad with avocado Ranch. My husband had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. It was good & the fries with it were perfectly cooked.

Found this by accident. Hard to find fresh healthy and cheap meal in Philadelphia. Food is organic and farm fresh near Rittenhouse Square. Sat at bar and had juicy turkey burger. Actually had taste, often lacking in this city. Desert was tasty and bill just over $20 with drink. If looking for a good quality and quick healthy meal, this was a fine place, cant comment on their breakfast.

I can't quite believe how appalling my experience was at this restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant we immediately asked for separate bills as we were a group of people travelling on business. We were told that this was fine, and the waitress proceeded to take our orders individually, on individual pieces of paper - we assumed that this would therefore not be a problem. We then waited over 40 minutes for our food to come, during which time both myself and a number of my colleagues were shivering due to the very cold temperature of the restaurant. We asked for the air con to be turned off and were informed that this was not possible and that it's a set temperature. Strange, but we accepted this without issue. When our food eventually came, it was stone cold. By this point we were so hungry that we just ate so that we could leave as quickly as possible as we were all shivering, and the food did nothing to warm us up. Once finished we asked for our bill straight away. 20 minutes later we were yet to receive it. So we asked again...this time the waitress came over and informed us that we needed to tell her again what we had ordered so that she could arrange the separate bills. This was frustrating but ultimately fine, despite the fact that we had already ordered separately at the start. 20 minutes later we were still waiting for our separate bills and we asked if we could possibly pay at the till as we were desperate to leave as we were all freezing cold. We were told that this wasn't possible. Subsequently, after multiple attempts at sorting out separate bills, and still failing at doing this correctly, she invited us up to the till to pay (why didn't this happen when we first asked?!). By this point both me and my colleagues were very unhappy as we were yet to receive an apology and had waited over 40 minutes for our bills for a meal that we were very unhappy with to start with. We then went to the till to pay, and told the manager that we were very disappointed in the service and he informed us that this was the first time he had heard of us wanting separate checks. Clearly some kind of miscommunication between the waitress and the management here. Still no apology, we managed to settle up ten minutes later. Overall, the food was stone cold and the service so lacking that I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. An apology goes a long way, and it is shocking to make people pay full price for such an appalling dining experience.

We came here for a quick dinner. Service was smooth and correct. Burgers are standard but very tasty.

Great salads and soup, sandwiches, etc. Great sweet potato fries. All excellent. Can get very busy at lunch hour peak but worth it!!

Went to the Marathon for dinner with my husband and three kids before the theater. Plus, the accept reservations. Anyway, we were seated right away and our server immediately greeted us and brought drinks. Our server was very friendly and chatted with the kids. Service was prompt all around and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I had a build my own salad, which was awesome. They have a list of about 50 choices to add to your salad. My husband had a cheese steak and said it was tasty. Two of the kids had burgers and enjoyed them. My youngest had the Thanksgiving dinner for kids meal and it was bland :( Anyway, everyone got tasty milkshakes to go. Good food and good service all around.

Some dishes were good, and in a good day this place might be better recommended. We visited at evening time. The service was very slow, not client oriented but more towards some sport event that was in the background. One of the dishes was inedible, sour from non-freshness and very bad, it was returned and yet charged for. Another salad took nearly 25 minutes to arrive, and looked like it waited lonely on the counter for a while. Nevertheless, some of the dishes were tasty and good (including salmon & puree, and their philly cheese steak), and maybe during lunch time, when the business is busy, their service is better.

Marathon Grill is a great little neighborhood spot. Outdoor seating at the 16th Street location is also great for people-watching in the evening. The restaurant is casual and the service is friendly. For an appetizer, try the potato cheese pierogies. They are creamy and delicious. The soy ginger salmon is also delicious. I had a grilled pork chop that was a bit overcooked, but the apple bourbon glaze made up for it.

Our order was taken and then the server was gone. Had to remind her drink was missing. Didnt know if food was prepared with soy. Bland turkey. Not a fan

Very lively and busy but we surprisingly were seated immediately. The food is good at a reasonable price. Milkshakes are great here. The service is good and efficient. It's loud in there too which we enjoyed.

Was looking for a place to eat while walking in center city. Stopped in marathon and was very pleased with our selection of. Crab salad and crabcake sandwich. The crabcake was so delicious that I devoured it minus the bun. They were out of sweet potato fries but the regular fries were fresh hot and delicious. The salad was crisp with plenty of lump crab. The price was very fair for the delicious lunch. The atmosphere was calm with lots of chatter for 11am

Local hotel recommended Marathon Grill for a casual, nearby dinner. Made a reservation online but wasn’t necessary. Lots of great options to please everyone in our groups. The salads were generous and delicious! Tomato basil soup and chicken noodle were delicious!! Casual dining, family friendly.

I choose this location for breakfast because the food looked good and the portions seemed appropriate. I ordered blueberry pancakes and they were good. However, my son ordered the French toast. The food was good but he only got one slice of toast. For the price we paid It was excessive. The service was only marginal. Although it wasn't a terrible experience , I wouldn't come back.

Marathon is a nicely decorated neighborhood restaurant. The décor reminded me a bit of a steakhouse and the atmosphere is lively but not loud. We seated at the window which was great for people watching. Our server Holly was excellent and I knew we would get great service from her the moment she greeted us. We started with the Marathon Sampler app. Lightly breaded calamari and chicken fingers, sweet potato fries, and cheesesteak wontons which comes with a few dipping sauces, one of which was jalapeno with a nice kick! I had the Marathon burger with Vermont cheddar and caramelized onions. The burger was quite large, around 8-9 ounces. Very juicy and cooked medium rare as ordered. The county bun was light but hearty and did not fall apart. As usual, I had a side of sweet potato fries. I could not get enough of these! My husband had the grilled salmon with mustard sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Salmon was firm and tender and the sauce paired nicely with the fish and vegetable. Even though they were relatively busy, our food came out quickly. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

We stopped here a few times for breakfast as it was local to our apartment. Great menu, kids loved the smoothies.

Been here a few times in the past, I especially enjoy the outside seating on a nice day. Food is pretty good too, and it is easy to get reservations.

Marathon has been in business a long time. I used to go there a great deal when I worked in the neighbor. I went there this week for lunch. The decor has been updated and there is a bar. There is all day service, breakfast, lunch, and dinner and take out for anything on menu plus smoothies. The service is good. A friend I went for lunch this week. I had one of the specials and he had a salad with shrimp Both were good. We did not drink anything alcoholic. We had soft drinks and after lunch coffee. We came towards the end of lunch hour and were not rushed as it was not necessary to turn tables. :Lucnch for two before tip was about $42.00.

The place is decent inside. Very modern like most of the restaurants in the area. I’m not gonna lie I had higher hopes for this place. Many of my friends told me the food and service was good. Not sure if it was our luck but the service wasn’t very good and we had to wait 50mins for our food and they still got our order wrong. I got the turkey club so nothing too exciting but the bread was completely burn. The sandwich was over all pretty good but could’ve had a little more flavor. However, I don’t want to give up on this place. I will be coming here again and I would still recommend.

Sunday evening not crowded. Great varied menu. I had a vegetarian chili soup which was full of legumes and mild spicy and the baby ribs , a generous and very tasty dish . The waiters’ staff was vary nice and efficient. I had a wonderful dinner and I recommend this restaurant without any hesitation.

It was suggested for breakfast by the concierge at the hotel. I recommend it as well. Everything looked good that I saw. Large sized servings and pretty good service.

We arrived around 1 pm on a Sunday and the retro-chic eatery was bustling with energy. Bakery items caught our eyes at the countertop. The two of us were seated within minutes at a table next to the window: prime people-watching spot on the busy street corner. I ordered Eggs Benedict which was worth the $ 11.50 (prices may change). He ordered the Churizo Burrito which was spicier but a better deal than the breakfast burrito at Green Eggs in town. Both our plates were paired handsomely with roasted potatoes and ketchup to dip. Unfortunately our waters were never refilled and we had to wait a little too long for our bill considering the crowd had thinned out within the hour. I was thankful for the playlist that ranged from Jason Mraz to Destiny's Child but if you are hard of hearing good luck having a private conversation without having to bust your chords. ------ BOTTOM LINE: Check out this hotspot if you aren't in any rush with either one friend or five!

Was recommended this restaurant by a local hotel. The description was almost that of a diner, but to my happy surprise the restaurant had excellent food. I had the chicken parmigiana, which was made with all fresh ingredients. My son had Mac n cheese which was surprisingly good. Would definitely recommend visiting. The only major downfall I saw was the restrooms were in serious need of renovation.

Not great but always a decent meal. Good for late night dining near the park. Good alternative to the touristy Parc. Good chicken.

There was a long tourist city walk and we were looking for lunch. When we spotted Marathon the lady who was leaving the restaurant said to me: "The best burger I ever had". Would you look for other place after such recommendation? :-) And yes, I was very satisfied with my "Marathon burger" and my wife liked shrimps too. We had also some local beers to taste. Summarizing: good food, good price, a little more waiting for burger than I expected. Don't look around, it's good restaurant for everyone.

My wife and I stopped in here over the weekend. We split The Marathon Burger, a house blend of sirloin, short rib, and chuck with Vermont cheddar, caramelized onions, apple wood smoked bacon and house made BBQ sauce on a brioche bun. The burger comes with fries or a Cesar salad, we had the salad. The burger and salad were both awesome. All the food we saw come out looked so good, especially the salads. We sat at the bar and our server was excellent, he knew we were sharing and had our burger and salad put on separate plates. They have a full bar and Guinness on tap. The restaurant was clean and the staff also had a clean appearance, even the bus boy had a beard net on. We're looking forward to going back for breakfast or lunch.

The wait staff were very attentive, cheerful and helpful. The food was always served hot and the taste was exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant without any hesitation to everyone.

This is a go-to lunch spot in Center City. Perfect for office workers, tourists, residents, families, picky eaters and solo diners. I recently enjoyed a lovely quiche with side salad and a glass of rose for lunch. My companion had a buffalo chicken sandwich - their sandwich of choice at Marathon with a side of fries, a soda and coffee. Service was friendly and quick. We also got a hefty turkey grain burger with caesar salad to go. Bill for all the items including tax and tip was $62. This is very reasonable and makes Marathon a good choice for those on a budget.

We were hungry early afternoon. This was close to our hotel. Rainy day. We stopped for lunch. Breakfast and lunch available. I had s Philly cheesesteak. Wife had a salad. Cheesesteak was a classic with peppers, onions, cheese whiz and shaved beef. With crispy fries. Perfect choice. Salad was good too.

Outdoor seating but more indoors. Ver varied menu. We 3 ordered a build your own salad, chicken quesadilla and fish tacos. Quality and quantity exceeded expectations. Famed for matzoh ball soup but we didn’t have it. Good for kids, vegetarians, every eater.

Overall experience of our group was Ok. In philly so had to order the cheesesteak. Very disappointed. They did do well with the service for our group.

This was closest to the show we were headed to, so we stopped in. Nice surprise, good food and pleasant service.Seemed like a local favorite on a midweek evening. Their chicken quesadilla was fabulous! The soy ginger salmon at 15.50 was good too. The quesadilla was 11.50 BTW. I felt the tea was overpriced at $3.

Great pancakes, good scramble of eggs and smoked salmon, excellent coffee. It's a pleasant, airy place to start the day with a friendly staff and amiable clientele.

We went today for lunch, I ordered grilled salmon, according to the menu it comes with mashed potato, some one came and said sorry we don't have mashed potato I will bring you French fries even i am sick and cant eat fats, I said ok then the order came but the salmon was over coked and almost burned, the waiter came to ask me how is the food I told him not good he asked me if I want something also I said bring me the menu to choose he went and and came back and through the check at the table I paid and we left the food and leave, thank you Marathon grill tram for your courtesy and good manner.

We were a party of 7 with multiple people with multiple food allergies. Not only were they knowledgeable but able to provide something for everyone. We all had very different dinners and everyone really enjoyed. The calamari was fantastic. My sister throughly enjoyed the steak frites. The kids had pancakes, chicken parm, grilled shrimp and a burger and there were clean plates all around. The vegetable capellini was excellent. Our server Alyvia was handling what seemed to be half of the restaurant and lovely and attentive.

.. but slow service. Irish coffee was below the line, unfortunately. Wrong glass, no whiskey (sure they was but if you almost not taste it, its a not good sign). No whipped cream! Just regular cream poured in. Main course strip steak, steak was good. Portion somewhat simple, only fries and the stake. No veggies etc.

We went there Sunday and Monday for bunch and both days we had a great experience. There waffles, quesadillas, coffee and bloody Mary’s were great. Staff was welcoming and friendly.

My experience at Marathon Grill is not at all a reflection of the name. It was relaxing and delicious . The locations is very convenient, the menu is great, and they value good customer service. I ordered the soup of the da, a very warm, flavourful Tomato Basil followed by Chicken cub salad with a balsamic dressing. The portions won't disappoint. Great choice after a day walking the beautiful city of Philadelphia on a cold fall day.

Stopped in for dinner during a very busy Friday night. We were seated more quickly than expected. Service was excellent. You could see the hustle in the staff. The food was terrific and reasonably priced. Casual, comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely return on another trip.

Our son who recently moved to Philadelphia took us to this restaurant for breakfast. I was pleased to see cage free eggs on the menu, but know that term doesn't really mean the chickens get to go out and peck in the grass, etc. But, I ordered the Marathon breakfast which is a traditional egg, potato and toast breakfast. It was such a great surprise to cut into my over-medium eggs and see a beautiful orange yolk ooze out! This indicates that the chicken that produced that egg got to eat a nutrient rich omnivorous diet, such that a pasture grazed chicken would eat. Better for her and for me :) According to a recent Penn State U study- pastured eggs contain higher levels of vitamins A, D and E; more beta-carotene; and more omega-3s. Aside from all that, the food was delicious! The three of us shared an order of banana almond pancakes. They were rich, sweet and crunchy. I ended up enjoying them without even putting on maple syrup. My husband got the breakfast quesadilla and said it was his favorite breakfast ever! Our son got an omelet (I don't remember what kind) and loved it, too. Service was fast and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast!

We had breakfast at this restaurant a couple of times . The quality of the dishes offered for breakfast is really good . They are using good ingredients . Service is pleasant ! They always show up at the right time to offer a refill of coffee or water . Definitely recommended as this is a much better option than the breakfast offered in all hotels in this area

Ended up here as our first two choices were too busy to accommodate us. The food was good and so was the service.

I had a business meeting at this restaurant. My guest was also a restaurant owner in Philadelphia but he decided that this place would be better for us to discuss matters than at his place and he was right. We met at 11:30 and Marathon was empty. By noon, it was packed and no one was sitting at the tables outside due to the 100 degree heat. Wise choice. I had their burger, my guest had a salad. Both were delicious. If the Booby Flay burger underwhelmed a few weeks back, this burger is what Flay should be producing but definitely is not by comparison. Great, great, great. Service is excellent and prices are just fine.

Tried the salmon burger, which was surprisingly very good. The sweet potato french fries were delicious. The place was crowded but the wait staff got everyone in and out in a timely fashion. My only complaint, the bathroom was slightly disgusting. Staff may want to periodically check/clean throughout the day.

~ It was a beautiful day so I decided to go on a walk-about in search of an outside dining area for lunch. I came across this appealing restaurant with outside tables & huge letters on the side "MARATHON." At that point I knew this was the finish line regarding my lunch run. First Impressions: Encased with glass walls, it allows a perspective customer to see inside & current customer to see outside, which adds to the "city life" magnetism of this establishment. I decided to be seated outside in the shade, the table & chairs were very plain & black, but I was pleased with the view of the beautiful skyscrapers. A waiter came out promptly, & I put in my IcedTea/Turkey Burger/Fries order in(pictured), & informed him that I only had 30 minutes to eat lunch. He responded "no problem sir, your food will be out in 10." To my surprise it was..The first bite of this burger was beyond scrumptrulescent. The CRISPY applewood bacon was the salty combatant to the sweet apple slaw & apple mostarda. The smoked gouda clung to the wheat bun to hold everything together for each bite of blissfulness. The fries get an honorable mention for their crispiness, but nothin to call home to mommadukes about. Recommendations: The burger patty circumference was not comparable in size to the buns, thus being left with a 15-20% bun excess. The outside table & chairs seemed like they were missing something, maybe a more decorative look or splash of color. The Don approves of this establishment & will be back ~

Fun, modern energetic atmosphere with great breakfast and lunch options. Serves beer and cocktails if you’re feeling “brunchy.” When in Rome, I mean Philly, do the cheesesteak omelette with the cheese whiz! :) Good food, great value!

After we sat down and waited 10 minutes, I had to flag down a waitress and ask if we had a server at our table. Our waitress came and reluctantly took our order. There had to be about 8 waitresses standing talking. The manager was also standing and talking on his phone, talking to the waitresses. When our food was ready it sat in the kitchen window for a while. The manager literally stood in front of it and never even looked to see whose order it was. The restaurant was NOT crowded at ALL. Finally at the end of our meal we had a third server come and fill water glasses and bring extra napkins. Turns out he had just started his shift and the other ladies were finishing. He was very attentive and polite. I guess it was the end of the waitresses shifts so they couldn't be bothered. It is a shame because the food was good.

What a find! Stopped by for lunch. They didn't miss a beat when I asked for quinoa instead of couscous in the Moroccan salad. Very tasty and generous portions. A great choice!

We really enjoyed our meal at Marathon Grill. It was quick and casual and the food and staff were both very good.

Took the train in from the suburbs for a day walking around Philly. We were debating going home for an early dinner or sticking around for a late lunch. We made the right choice! First, they had breakfast options all day, always a plus with my group. A fried egg over perogies and onions was just what our picky eater wanted. The perogies lived up to Pittsburg standards. The rest of us had some very creative and delicious salads. I had the Moroccan Salmon salad. This was a great blend of wonderfully seasoned and cooked salmon over greens, feta, and craisins. I love salads that mix some sweet into them. My wife had the crispy chicken and sesame salad. Cabbage and green beans were the added twist on this salad. The service was great and we left quite satisfied.

My son and I had breakfast here recently. We had been here in the past but not for a few years. It was always very good then, and it still is now. The service was excellent. My son had Eggs Benedict, which he loved. I had sunny side up eggs with home fries and toast. Everything was cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend trying this place. You will be glad you did.

I have had multiple meals here - breakfast and lunch. Everything was fresh and yummy. Best sweet potato fries I've ever had! Grilled cheese on artisan bread - yes please! Omelets and pancakes are light and fluffy. The menu is loaded with choices without being overwhelming. Service has always been courteous and swift!

We ate here today and were very disappointed with our meals. The blackened mahi mahi was very dry and the salmon burger had a very fishy taste.

We dined here twice (lunch & dinner) - My wife, son and daughter-in-law. The restaurant is casual dining with very good food. Our servers on both occasions were courteous, thorough and willing to assist with my daughter-in-laws dietary restrictions. Marathon offers a menu with a nice variety of dining choices and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. If we travel back to Philly, we will be certain to visit again.

We were in the area and decided to stop here for breakfast. We had the breakfast quesadilla, ham cheddar omelette and the eggs benedict special. Everyone was pleased with their meal. The service was a little slow and they seemed to be getting some of the orders mixed up. However, the food was all good. Enjoy!

We ate here because we were basically tired and a little lost. What a nice surprise! The food was good. I especially enjoyed the option to have them make a salad with just the ingredients I like! Very reasonably priced. Pleasant and quick service. Would definitely recommend.

I was excited to have lunch with great friends at Marathon. This was my first time dining here. It was a huge disappointment. I actually left Marathon at the conclusion of our meal and had to get lunch elsewhere. For starters, the white sangria I ordered tasted like a mixture of grapefruit and lemon juice...very bitter! The jambalaya arrived very dried out with no hint of any liquid, stew juices or broth. It was so dry that the bed of white rice that it sat upon was still dry. I expressed concern to the server (I think her name was Annie). She said that because of how it is prepared, there are no stew juices or broth that she could ladle onto the jambalaya. Instead she offered to bring a separate bowl of chicken broth. She did, but if you eat jambalaya you know that a side of bland chicken broth will not help the situation. I really tried to trudge through and eat their dried out version of jambalaya, but couldn't. I asked the server to take the jambalaya and expected her to ask if I wanted anything else in place of it. She didn't ask. She left with my food and my friends ate their food. We waited for our server to return to check on us, as good servers do, but she did not return. As my friends ate their food, I pulled up Yelp to search for a nearby restaurant to eat lunch. My friends hailed another server and asked her to send our server. She eventually came over and asked if I wanted a refill on my diet Coke. I told her that I really wanted some food because I am hungry! I jokingly shared the fact that I was on Yelp looking for a restaurant because I'm hungry and she responded "that's fine". OMG! Was that the appropriate response for your 'valued customer'? Prior to this point, I could excuse the server from my disappointment with my experience at Marathon, but her attitude and response were cavalier and made me feel uncomfortable. I asked her to bring the menu again. Ultimately I chose not to place another order. I sat hungry while my friends ate their salads. When the check arrived, I was appalled to see that I had been charged for the diet Coke that I drank. I immediately asked for the manager. Bob, the manager came over and I explained my dissatisfaction. He responded that he had removed the charge for the jambalaya but didn't know I had a soda too. This response confirmed that the manager was aware of the problems with my dining experience but never came over to investigate (a good manager would have come over), instead I had to request that he come over. Let me get this straight: my food is inedible, the server is cavalier about my disappointment, the manager appears clueless about customer service, and you expect me to pay for the soda?!? Bob removed the soda from the bill and said that when I come back ask for him and my meal would be free. Bob should have comped our bill today ($33.48 total) if he wanted any chance of us returning to Marathon - EVER! I had to leave and go somewhere to get something to eat. The one star is because my friends were great company.

A good selection of breakfast options. I took the pancakes and scrambled eggs and bacon. Good location, nice interior, pleasant customers. I found it disapointing that on the menu the pancakes are announced with Maple Sirup, when in fact it is only flavoured syrup containing elements I would rather not eat: "Corn Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Cellulose Gum, Caramel Color, Salt, Sodium Benzoate And Sorbic Acid (Preservatives), Artificial And Natural Flavors, Sodium Hexametaphospate".

Nice place to stop for brunch. A varied menu with ample choices and always good service. I like their egg dishes and they have a good coffee to go with it.

I got there before 12 which was good as by 12, the place got packed. The 3 of us each got a different meal and all 3 of us enjoyed our lunch. Service was good as was the food. If there is a negative, I would say due to being so full, it got quite loud and you had to shout to the people at the table with you.

We ordered lunch from the 3-5 menu. Nothing special but the food was decent. Service was also good. Wouldn’t go out my way to eat but it was fine.

By far the best meal I’ve had in Philly. Great service! Fresh ingredients. The food was seasoned to perfection. I had the Greek omelet and calamari. If you’re ever in downtown Philadelphia you have to stop by; You won’t be disappointed.

Visiting Philadelphia, we were looking for a restaurant near our hotel with a variety of food and gluten-free options. Marathon seemed to be a good fit, and we weren't disappointed. The food was good (7 for dinner and all happy), and our only complaint was the delay in getting a bowl of soup and chili...the easiest to prepare and the last to arrive. That said, service was otherwise good and the overall experience was such we went back for lunch two days later.

What a treasure Marathon is! We were warmly greeted by the host and. Seated in a comfortable booth. The server was a delight, knowledgeable with menu options, friendly and efficient. We were delighted with the menu options and prices. The food was delicious. From the pierogis, lentil soup, capeletti, trout entre and quesadillas to the beautifully presented desserts we were very pleased. The manager stopped and chatted with us…so friendly and gracious. Outstanding experience.

Went a few days before Thanksgiving, my husband wanted to go here. Definitely loved the atmosphere and the service was great, but the meal was just ok, nothing special. I had a red sangria, like I do quite a bit when I'm out in Philly, and theirs had another type of liquor in it that I've never had before and didn't really appreciate. The drink menu didn't mention any other type of liquor in the sangria or I may have skipped it. The same thing happened with my husband's drink, just had an odd taste, not bad but not what he expected either. I suppose my drink just set the tone for the rest of my meal.

Had a pretty decent brunch here. Kale Salad. Breakfast sandwich. Coffee. A bit expensive. True Story.

This is the best service I've had in years and the food was awesome! We were a very large (24 people) group that they kindly accommodated (at the very last minute) celebrating my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. EVERYONE found a win on the menu including the kid's items. Our server was fantastic about splitting a couple dishes and advice on all the dairy and gluten questions. The BBQ ribs with pomegranate sauce was a top hit, but so was the shrimp taco and mac & cheese! We couldn't and wouldn't fault a thing, it was that great of an experience. The wonderful server (Delaney sp?) even went out of her way to go across the street to get a dairy free and gluten free cookie so the happy anniversary could have a candle and dessert.

Stopped by myself for dinner after walking around from my hotel. The restaurant is cozy and has a good ambiance. I had the Philly Cheesesteak and a glass of wine for $19. It what very well served and it was delicious. Service is very good.

We were quickly greeted and seated, however our table did not yet have silverware. The silverware was brought by a busboy who handled the forks by the tines with his bare hands. Also, the busboy was too quick to snatch away plates. If we are already getting up to leave, he should wait until we are actually gone before clearing the table. Marathon Grill does not take Discover Card.

My hotel told me it was a good place to eat good is not the word for it it is outstanding fabulous amazing the staff is out of this world they helped me pick out a salad to eat and that’s the only place I ate at the rest of my vacation I recommend this place to everyone I know I can’t wait to go back

Favorite restaurant in Philly. This is my go to place when I want a reasonably priced high quality non-fussy option for any meal. Its a real neighborhood joint. Family and kid friendly. Lots of locals. Like a diner, but better. Space is nicely done, not ostentatious. American Bistro. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, entrees, desserts. Nice variety of different foods. Elevated fun menu. Food is delicious. Never had an issue with the quality of the food. Staff is friendly. It can get crowded so make a reservation. One more thing about the staff. They hustle! You ever go into an eatery and the staff kinda seems… uninspired? Maybe not quite into what they’re doing? This isn’t one of those places. This staff moves like they have a purpose. Highly recommended. Times are tough for service workers. Hotels. Restaurants. Chronic understaffing. Business hours being cut. We’ve all read the headlines. This staff tries. They obviously work very hard. This is why I go back. That, and the food. Its teriffic.

Food was a expected. Delivery guy ignored my request for change for the tip I gave him and walked away.

The four of us enjoyed our brunch in this bustling casual restaurant. Note this locally owned & operated business has three locations in Philly & believes in buying local, if possible. This one is the 16th & Sansom location. Being an out-of-towner, I ordered the Cheesesteak Omelette, something you wouldn't find in our area. The only oops is that one brunch mate asked for extra milk for her coffee more than once, but it was never provided...

We ate at Marathon while on a trip to Philadelphia after reading many reviews including Trip Advisor. The scallops as well as the baby back ribs were excellent, and our server, Sawyer, was the best! We enjoyed our dinners here very much, and would return when in Philadelphia again! Thanks!

We have been here three times and other members of family visit often as well. Great menu if you want healthier options. Staff has always been friendly. Love the turkey burger! We have picky teens and they always want to stop here.

My daughter were walking back to our hotel and decided to just pick a restaurant on our way. Stumbled on Marathon. Passed my clean windows test. I feel if they care enough to keep the windows clean, they care about everything else. Walked in without a reservation on a Friday night & were seated right away. Hostess was pleasant. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Had a grapefruit Collins, refreshing. My daughter had a buffalo chicken sandwich. Large portion, a little spicy for her but she liked it. I had pork. Beautiful presentation. It could have used some more spices (flavor) but not bad. Portion was also a good size. Served quickly, so it was still hot, which I prefer. The atmosphere was very cool & trendy. Prices are reasonable for what you get. We enjoyed ourselves. Would probably go again if the opportunity presented itself. All in all, a better than average experience.

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place for breakfast. This was probably one of the best bits we had all weekend. Everything is made fresh daily with ingredients from local farmers and vendors. The banana bread French toast is out of this world. Packed with layers of flavor that will awaken your taste buds start your day. Thick slices of banana bread which is topped with whipped cream, strawberries and banana liqueur. There is no need to add any maple syrup as it will compromise the true flavors. Service was friendly and efficient. Portions are plentiful and prices are reasonable for the area.

We sat on the "patio", which is really just the sidewalk in front of the building. It was nice to be able sit outside when the weather is nice. I ordered the Marathon burger which was really good. It came with matchstick fries that were VERY greasy. My husband got the crispy chicken and sesame salad. He said it was also good. Nothing outstanding, but the food was good. The one downfall is that there is one bathroom for everyone, so it makes for long waits.

We stopped in for dinner while out shopping. We had a flight out of Philly next day so Uber’d into the city to eat and shop. We had the hummus appetizer which was yummy. The pickled vegetables were so good too that came with it. We also had the Philly cheese steak with homemade fries. The cheesesteak was so good and fries were crispy and hot. Service was great and fast. I would definitely eat there again if I’m in the area

Stopped for breakfast on the hotel's recommendation. Breakfast was typical. The potatoes did not seem to be freshly made. Had to ask for coffee refills and it wasn't busy at the time. Lots of seating with views for the city street. Had the service been a bit better and the potatoes hotter, it would have rated a 4

We were only in Philadelphia for about 16 hours, and asked the hotel concierge for a good breakfast suggestion before heading back to the airport. It was a quick walk from the hotel, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were seated right away. I had the brioche french toast and my husband had an omelette with applewood smoked bacon and something else that I can't remember. Both were quite tasty and definitely large enough portions Our server was attentive and friendly. If we find ourselves back in Philly, we would return for sure.

The food was so fresh and nicely done with great portion sizes, and I cannot believe they can serve all this at the great prices they offered. Frankly, I would have paid more! Our server was wonderful, and we all enjoyed our evening here.

We've been here before and enjoyed it so we thought it would be a safe choice when taking out three of my students after a fun, Christmas-y Saturday in the city. We had a reservation for 7:30 but were walking towards the wrong location so I called to say we were running late. Arrived at 7:45 and didn't get seated until 8:00. It was packed and loud. As of 9:00, we still didn't have our food. The only saving grace of this experience was the fact that our waitress was nice and the food runner was extremely kind and personable. Our waitress was, however, set up for failure. When she greeted us she let us know that they were out of about 6 things on the menu. Never a great start. As the night went on she had to keep bringing back food and drinks from every table in her station. It's hard to be a good waitress when the management, kitchen and bar are not doing their part. The most disturbing part of this whole night was that the hallway leading up to the bathroom smelled like a dirty diaper. It was disgusting. I thought it was the bathroom but once we got into the bathrooms, they smelled like bleach. That made me feel better about the bathrooms but wayyyyyy worse about the restaurant. The smell was coming from the hall which is between the bar and the kitchen. If it isn't the bathrooms that smell, then what exactly is it? How disgusting. Even the 3 six year olds with me were making a huge deal and holding their noses and saying how disgusting it was. One of them said, "if you are in a fancy restaurant, it's supposed to be clean, it shouldn't smell like this." EXACTLY. The staff were all rude. I stopped to let the bartender go ahead of me since he was working. Even though I was a female with three young girls, he accepted my offer, barreled past us and didn't even look or say thank you. How rude!!!! The manager wasn't even kind until he had to do a table visit but when we were just walking past him, he also blew past without using manners. Our burgers both came out undercooked. I said I wanted mine burnt and it came out red. My man said he wanted his med well and his came out red as well. We had to send them back. When they came back out, they had no fries. They had to go back again. When they finally came out they just weren't good. All they tasted like was the grill. They had no other flavor. I didn't even want to waste the calories since by this point we waited over an hour for our food, it was past 9:00 and it wasn't even good...so I ate less than half. The fries weren't good so I didn't eat those either. The manager did not come back to see if they were better. He did not comp the uneaten burger which was clearly still not up to standard...or discount the bill at all. I'm not one to WANT that to be done but when you are offering a terrible experience with sub par food and a kitchen that literally smells like poo, I think you should try to do something. Offer the girls dessert on the house...something! One of my students said she wanted only grapes with her children's menu selection. When their kids meals came out she was the only one that had zero grapes. She got a totally different fruit salad from the other two girls. They had grapes and strawberries and she had no grapes at all even though she said she wanted grapes. It made no sense. We had to ask for the other fruit salad to be brought out since she didn't like the fruit options in hers. The manager said they scrambled to make the one she had. Why are you scrambling to make something she doesn't even want when the two girls next to her have something totally different...which happens to be what she wants?! The menu made no mention of there being separate fruit salad options. Even if it did, she was clear she wanted grapes so she still got the wrong one! We asked for refills on the girls water multiple times before it happened. There was an old, melted, stepped on butter packet under our table. We personally did not have butter. Like I said at the start, it was a horrible, horrible experience and I don't wish to ever return here. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone looking to dine out in the city. There are too many other places that offer better food, better service and a dining room that doesn't smell like feces. We've been here on New Year's Day before when it was crowded and it was still a good experience so the fact that it was a busy Saturday is not an excuse. The whole goal of a restaurant is to be busy and just because you're busy doesn't mean your service and food should start going downhill. If that was the case, you wouldn't be busy anymore.

Excellent locally sourced food from salads to sandwiches. My daughter opted for the make your own salad and I had an excellent crustless quiche served with a small salad. They also have smoothies here.

Recommended by our concierge great food great service highly recommend the cheesesteak wontons. The portions were plenty and the beer was cold

Had a cheeseburger and some good house malbec and a big hunk of apple pie. Right in the middle of the neighborhood, not a big crowd, great service and great food.

We tipped up with no reservation after seeing Philadelphia Eagles play in November. So we were really cold and hungry. Seated with no stress and drinks arrived quickly. The food was tasty and well priced. Service was quick and friendly. Would definitely visit again if I was in town!

Small cute place with wonderful brunch items. Delicious plentiful portions. The breakfast quesadilla had the freshest tortillas I've ever had. Busy place!

Love to eat here for breakfast as the specials are always good and varied. Service is always great even they are very busy . Noise level is quite high and tables are jammed together, but that’s part of the experience. Lox and eggs very good, could have had a little more lox. Toast very crunchy and tasty. Always a good place to eat.

Fun cocktails and well done food. Perfect for lunch! Tuna melt and blackened chicken were delicious. Staff were super friendly!

We came to the Marathon Grill, great location at 16th and Sansom, for a quick dinner between the Macy Light Show and Phila City hall show. Menu offered plenty of options - we chose to go the sandwich route, after a Nachos appetizer. Our party had the Create Your Own Burger, Blackened Chicken Press, Center City Veggie Sandwich, and the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Each came with your choice of fries or side salad. Service could have been a little quicker as the place was suprisingly only half full. Food came out fresh and hot. Definitely would go back

My husband and I stopped in this busy corner restaurant. We took a booth which buffered the noise. Our server got multiple tables at once. We each ordered salads. After 25 mins, we asked the server for update on food and she indicated the food "should be coming soon". With food runners, there is lack of connection with server and food. I was not asked if I'd like a refill. I had to ask several different people for water etc. The only saving grace was when the food finally arrived after 45 mins, the salads were delicious. The sever seemed uninterested in our table until the end of meal. Wouldn't rush back with so many other choices.

Had a great breakfast here. Very cute, modern diner- upscale decor. The waitress was so nice. And the food was excellent- traditional diner choices and some healthy options. Very reasonable prices.

This restaurant has several downtown locations all with the same menu. Very popular for brunch lunch and dinner it is moderately priced with many menu suggestions. Try their Burger and fries among the best in Philadelphia

Marathon Grill, at 16th and Sansom, provided a great breakfast experience. The menu offered plenty of options for us. I ordered the smoked salmon and bagel platter which I thoroughly enjoyed. ( This is a treat for me because lox or smoked salmon cannot be found on menus in Midland, Texas. ) All items on my plate were fresh and cold. The everything bagel was perfect. My wife enjoyed a perfectly prepared omelette. Coffee was rich and fresh. We will return and plan to try Marathon Grill for dinner.

Great smoothies, lots of vegetarian options, and friendly folks. I had the tofu scramble and it was flavorful and filling and the smoothies we ordered were slammin'! I would definitely return.

We went to Marathon on the advice of our doorman at the Warwick Hotel. On the first day we had brunch. The star of the show was the marathon potatoes, I mean home fries. Eggs are scrambled perfectly, the multigrain toast is very good, and the coffee excellent. On our return trip we had one cheese steak and one chicken steak hoagie. I know this is not a hoagie place, but the sandwiches were nonetheless very good! Finally, service was quick and efficient and the price is reasonable. Try it!

Just had breakfast, a brunch Quesadilla Special with home fries and it was fabulous. Marie n I split it, plenty of food. Brandon gave great service

Came here as I read review of their burgers and that's what I had. Very good burger, cooked perfectly medium as requested. Lovely taste and soft meat with plenty of cheese and caramelized onions. The bun was good as well. The fries that came with it were really nice, very thin and cooked well. The only minor complaint was that my wife's chicken fingers were not good. Tasted very overcooked and expensive for the portion size. Would definitely recommend the burger here.

I can’t come to Philadelphia without getting my Marathon fix. The food is always good and the service is friendly. You can sit outside and people watch or get a great indoor seat. Anywhere you sit gives you a great view of the active social scene or the restaurant’s ambiance. Breakfast is very good as well as the salads. I’ve never had a bad meal at this restaurant.

I stopped by for a seasonal breakfast of pumpkin pancakes eggs and bacon for breakfast. Unfortunately the pancakes where undercooked gooey and raw. I ate the eggs but couldn’t finish the pancakes. It was what brought me into the restaurant . I told the manager on the way out that they where undercooked. He really didn’t engage me but I noticed the cook behind me listening. I looked up why they might be that way on the web and saw it was a common complaint amongst cooks. I told him the possible solutions. Didn’t offer me a discount. Kind of disappointed, but I was not demanding one either. Tony from Chicago

Today, April 6, 2023, I placed an order for delivery which sounds simple right?! Door Dash was supposed to deliver it. The Dasher comes and delivers a bowl of matzo ball soup. That would have been fine had I not ordered 2 Sheryl's Salmon Burger totaling $48.81. The Dasher was given the incorrect order as me and someone else had the same first name and last initial. The Dasher told them my name, showed them her phone to show the order, and someone at Marathon still managed to give her the wrong order. When I called Marathon Grill, I was told they gave my order to someone from Grub Hub and that I needed to call Door Dash for a refund. I told them that it was their error and they REFUSED acknowledgment and said, "if I remake your order it’s like the other person stealing from us." "We will be out 2 orders." Again, sir, it was your error. You gave the Dasher the wrong food AND you stapled my receipt for my delivery to the wrong food order. All of this back and forth and waiting took well over an hour and a half. Yes, I am supposed to get a refund from Door Dash but it never would have happened had someone at Marathon took the time to actually check the order and also place the correct receipt on the correct order. So disappointing and unnecessary. Sadly, no more Marathon for me.

Excellent Service. Food takes only a while to get to you. Tasty and hits the taste buds. Prices are reasonable too. One of the largest and easily a full fledged restaurant nestled in the French Quarters of downtown Philadelphia. Lots of restaurants around but this stood out because of its size. We were not disappointed. Would go there again.

Did not have a good visit at this usually reliable establishment. We were a party of four. Had to wait almost 15 minutes for server to take our order after bringing drinks. Ordered omelette with veggies and no cheese. Food took almost 25 minutes to bring out. My omelette came with cheese and one member of our party had Eggs Benedict that was cold. Could not find anyone to flag down to correct. I had to get up and walk around looking for our waitress. Situation was corrected but person who brought my omelette just dropped the plate in front of me and said “omelette no cheese”. So the other two in our party finished eating while other two just started. No offer for a free dessert or attempt to make up for this. Probably won’t go back as a result of this experience.

Very busy but we only waited 10 min to be seated. Food took a little long to be served, but everything was tasty. My husband raved about his burger. Server was very friendly, but didn't check on our table. We kept having to flag her down when we needed something. I'm attributing it to the fact that the restaurant was packed so maybe she had a lot of tables/customers to attend to. Overall, we enjoyed our visited and would eat here again.

We ate both dinner and lunch here (more out of convenience and because of the wide variety of options than anything else). The food was good, but nothing special.

My husband and I had a very delicious breakfast here a few weeks ago. I had banana bread french toast, which I highly recommend! My hubby had a fantastic chorizo breakfast burrito. The staff was very nice and friendly. The decor was cool - not diner-y - more like a restaurant. There's even a bar! We sat at the window and watched all the morning yogis head to class (yes, we felt slightly guilty! haha) The next time we're in Center City we'll go there again!

We have missed our Marathon Grill breakfast! During our weekend visit, we thoroughly enjoyed the special bacon, egg, cheese and avocado breakfast sandwich. My husband had a banana pancake and I had a choc chip. Love the pancakes and they are sizable. Prompt and attentive service. Our server, Tiffini, did a great job!

The service we received at Marathon was excellent since we were in a group of 10 people. The restaurant itself was clean and had a great environment. The breakfast was good but overpriced.

This neighborhood restaurant is a gem: great food, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere eating among local residents. Try the excellent Chicken Pot Pie. Excellent waitstaff.

Great spot for a Philly meal. Great menu - had the scallop special and it and the risotto were delicious! Would recommend and definitely go again.

Marathon continues to be great even during the pandemic. It has always been reliable and dependable at all locations in the city and continues to be so. The cob salad is outstanding and their burgers are the best.

American cuisine, make in-house, great for kids as well! Our party was 5 adults, a 5yr old and a 2yr old. Everyone found something they liked and service was excellent!

Service was good and everyone was polite. Had the vegetarian chili and sweet potato fries and the control freak salad was ridiculously too good.

This reasonably priced restaurant was excellent. In fact, not only did we have a gorgeous breakfast here but went back twice for dinner. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Although I have eaten at Marathon Grill twice in two days, I obviously have not tried everything on the menu. However, the turkey burger was surprisingly moist and cooked with excellent flavor and toppings. The breakfast sandwich with sausage beats the Dunkin' Donuts across the street. Do yourself a favor and pay an extra $2 to get a meal worth eating. Attentive and friendly staff.

Was in Philly for a conference, and this restaurant kept popping up as recommended. Atmosphere is an upscale diner. Lots of kids and families. Indoor and outdoor seating. Menu was broad and full service bar. Had the crabmeat Cesar salad and a fruity drink. We were seated around 8 and were still eating when they closed. Staff was very nice (if a bit distracted with closing tasks). Totally affordable meal!

If you are lucky enough to get in here as they don't take reservations you will love everything on the menu. This is a neighborhood gem. Young & old go here. Enjoy a fabulous Bloody Mary, or Mimosa, fresh baked muffins, pancakes to die for & everything on the menu is honestly terrific. I'm actually headed there for a nice Saturday brunch right now, that is if I can get in. :)

Four of us were in town for a business conference, and decided to try Marathon since it was only a block or two from our hotel. Two of us got the crabcake platter, which came with cole slaw & sweet potato fries. The crab cake had tons of crab meat (not too much breading), and was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It came with a fantastic sauce. And the sweet potato fries were the best I ever had. One of us got a large salad with salmon, and the other got the turkey club. Everyone was delighted and we all enjoyed our entrees. I don't live in Philly, but the next time I'm there I'll be back to dine at Marathon.

This was a very comfortable, bustling location. Our waitress was very friendly and patient. She answered all of my questions patiently regarding the menu. The food was excellent. I loved my western omelet with a side salad. The mimosa was a great addition. All of my friends loved their meals as well: a chicken sandwich, various types of egg sandwiches, including one with salmon, one with ham, and another with bacon. The Bloody Mary was strong, but tasty. I would definitely return for another visit.

Visited on July 4th, Carolyn the hostess took good care of us and we were seated quickly! Food was delicious and our order was spot on, thanks to Connor our waiter! Great teamwork by all of the staff! Excellent experience and we will back again!

The food was good, it was nice sitting outside, but I did not expect lunch to take 1.5 hours. The waitress lost our order. Finally we asked what was taking so long. She had walked by our table many times and should have noticed how long we had waited. No 5 star rating for this place.

Table for two for dinner. Both of us had the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and the food was very tasty. Decent prices. Rather certain our waiter was a robot. Hardly any interaction or chit-chat.

Nice menu choices. Something for everyone but we all still got burgers. The starters were really good including the pierogies and the cheesesteak dumplings. Service ok. Can get loud and crowded. Reasonable prices.

Marathon on the 16th street was a great place for brunch. American fare with a Mediterranean touch We had eggs, jambalaya which was a shrimp, sausage and eggs combination, burger and salads. All of them were very good and moderately priced. Service as usual was excellent Highly recommended.

My date and I were headed to Franklin field and wanted to bring along sandwiches. Being in Philadelphia, we figured Cheesesteaks. In the interest of time, we didn't feel like making our way to the usual spots, so we asked our hotel's front desk. They recommended Marathon. The sandwiches were great - plenty of meat and cheese. Our wait was longer than expected, to the server gave us two free bowls of chili - also very good.

While on a group tour of Philadelphia, we had dinner one evening at Marathon Grill. We had very good service for our large party of over 20 people. Our table started with the Caesar salad and House salad and then chose the crab cake special with sweet potato fries and coleslaw and the scallops with risotto and spinach. All were very fresh and flavorful. I also tried the House sangria which was very good. The service was friendly and helpful. Overall a good meal.

I ordered the Beef Brisket platter. The quantity was sufficient, whereas the portion at Jones' was undersized. Conversely, the quality of the meat & its sauce at Jones' was superior. I choose Jones'!

Lots of coffee and ice cold water. The menu was varied and took me some time to decide. I went for the eggs quesadillas as shown in the photo. Lovely filling breakfast and efficient and friendly staff

Great food, good location, friendly service. Lots of choices on the menu- had a hard time picking one! We had salads and would recommend - they’re large and filling.

While vacationing in down town Philly we stumbled across this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. We had breakfast here.
Brunch!
My partner and I had brunch on this restaurant, I had smoked salmon egg benedicts and he had a breakfast sandwich with some roasted potatoes. The food was very tasty and the service was top notch.
