Cute and cozy place on a dark rainy night

By Candice C |

Had the Caesar salad which was very good. It's hard to find a decent Caesar salad these days. The place was cozy and intimate.

Do Better Marcos

By Brooke M |

If you're looking for a place that serves hair in their food, rude service & being harassed by management this is it! They threatened to have my friends car towed while we WERE EATING INSIDE. They didnt offer to try & replace my food & tried to say it was one of ours. Wouldn't waste your time nor money on a restaurant that sees themselves as holy & their guest as imbeciles. Read a few other reviews to also see we were not the only ones truly disappointed with a once loved place.

New Chef Better Quality!

By Taylor R |

Since the last time I reviewed the chef has changed. This new chef is much better, the quality of the food is higher, the portions much bigger and the service has sped up. I decided to give it another shot I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The menu has changed once again. Now it looks more like the original menu. I would give this little cafe a shot now and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised like I was.

Nice place for dinner in Multnomah Village

By Hawk56 |

Nice clean place. The service was very attentive and quick. The food was flavorful and interesting . I tried the cod with ginger sauce and a tasty lemon rice. It was very nicely done. My wife had the chicken florentine, and it was also good. With appetizer , two entrees and two glasses of wine and a desert the total was around 50 bucks. Pretty good value for a nice dinner. I would definitely eat here again.

Good, small, neighborhood restaurant

By pvbeachmom |

had dinner with friends in late July 2012. Two of us had delicious seafood entrees (rockfish and shrimp), the other had tortellini. We shared a yummy homemade blueberry pie a la mode. Nice selection of craft beers, too. Our waitress was new so she couldn't immediately answer some of our questions but she readily got the information from someone else.

Love our annual holiday brunch here!

By drkiki2015 |

Good food (I like the bacon brie scramble), friendly service, and great location! We've come here for a girls' holiday brunch for most of the past 12 years or so. One reason is that they don't seem to mind our lingering to exchange gifts and generally get caught up. Many brunch choices--all of which are quality--make it an easy choice for us.

Extremely slow service, rude treatment.

By jgwPortland |

Terribly slow service and they weren't even that busy. Had to send food (omelet) back that had an overpowering herb in it. I've ordered it before and it has never tasted like it did this time. Server had to check with the "manager," and I ordered something different, which took a very long time. Got the bill and they charged me for the original order (which cost more) and the server stated that "there was nothing wrong with the omelet." What happened to the "customer is always right"? We were treated poorly and will never be back. Too bad for them because we have gone there for many years.

St Patrick's Day

By Jerry Isom |

My friend and I visited Marco's on St Patrick's Day and were delighted with our meal. She had the fish special and I had the Jambalaya. Both were excellent and were delightfully decorated with green accents (avocado & asparagus) in honor of the special day. The staff was efficient and courteous, even though it was a busy evening for them.

Great for Breakfast or Lunch

By Evan S |

We eat here fairly often and like the fact that one of us can order breakfast while the other has a solid lunch off the imaginative and wide ranging menu that focuses on fresh and local fare. Only complaint is that dishes could use a little more seasoning, especially at dinnertime, , and I hate the cheap food serv-plastic-pack jellies they give you to spread on their excellent homemade bread! Seems like an odd misstep for an otherwise thoughtful and pleasant spot.

Great breakfast or brunch

By K5181EObills |

We all had breakfast. Eggs Benadict was excellent and the others in our group enjoyed omelet, strawberry waffles, and over easy eggs. Everything was delicious.

Breakfast Gem

By IrishLadyfromOR |

Marcos Cafe is my favorite breakfast spot. The menu is varied and there are daily specials. The coffee is great. The service is excellent. It's my go-to place!

Best Neighborhood Cafe in Portland

By BrynnBaron |

The Grilled Cheese For Grownups is to die for. Plus, they are very socially conscious, from the free-range meats, the fair-trade coffee, to the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, each one representing a certain number of meals they have given away to charity.

Consistently Very Good!

By John C |

Have not been here for dinner but the breakfasts and lunches are really quite good. The noise level can get a bit loud when the place is full so pack extra batteries for the hearing aid just in case.

Yes!

By Jon B |

One of my "all timers" when in the Portland area. Have been coming here for 15+ years. Variety, quality, and service. One of the best breakfasts you can get. I'm particularly fond of their bacon, avocado benedict. Pancakes are light, huge, filling. Waffles with the fresh fruit is also great. I like a place where it's hard to choose a dish. One choice excludes soooo many other excellent options. GREAT problem to have. Note: If you like them HOT, ask for your speciality coffee drinks extra hot.

Not the same Marco's

By 546kene |

My nephew and I decided to have lunch at Marco's. It had been a fovorite spot to meet when we lived in Portland. It must be over 5 years since we both were there. Parking is a litlle tuff, but after a few circles we found a space about three blocks away. Lunch coward was keeping Marco's busy, but there were a few open tables. The wait staff was okay, not very pleasant or happy. We ordered and the food was brought out. We were asked if we wanted anything else and that was the last we saw of them. Nephew said his sandwich was good, but half his french frys were cold.(which was odd) I ordered corn beef hash which looked and tasted like it came out of a can, with a few herbs thrown on top. My toast was dry with no offer of jelly or jam and no one to ask for some. Very loud in the restaurant so we couldn't have a conversation. We were looking forward to reliving part of our past, but doubt we will try Marco's again.

I loved my breakfast

By Linda R |

Marco's is a great place for breakfast. My daughter had the avocado egg sandwich which she raved about. I had Marco's burrito and it was WONDERFUL, too. The spinach sauce that comes with the burrito is delicious. This place is conveniently located, clean, nice atmosphere and the service was great. Next time I go, though, I'm getting that avocado egg sandwich.

Fun neighborhood Establishment

By EAustin0923 |

The food is good, drinks are good, service is good. I have nothing bad to say about this place. It's not the cheapest place to go, but I know I'll always get something good. Their brunches are great too!

breakfast at Marco's Cafe

By Barry H |

My first meal at Marco's was a breakfast with my realtor shortly before moving to Portland in 1991. Since then we've been there dozens and dozens of times: for breakast, lunch and dinner, or just to meet friends or colleagues for coffee. Over all these years and all of those meals, I can honestly say that I've never, not once, had a bad experience. Not with the food, or the service and certainly not with the staff, even with all of the various changes in almost 30 years. On top of all of that, the Multnomah Village location, less than 10 minutes from home have made and kept Marco's a family favorite!

Consistently great food

By David L |

Had breakfast here the other day, and everyone was pleased. I had the skinny omlet, and it was excellent. My two companions were also equally satisfied.

Yum.

By JBPortland |

It was a perfect Monday evening meal after spending most of the afternoon preparing for our annual tax returns. Monday was one of the Happy Hour menu evenings, a menu that was valid until 8 pm. The blackened sea bass was perfect as were the shepherd's pie, salad and my wife's cocktail.

Porridge

By 12bikerpapa |

We went there for breakfast. they have a very nice selection of breakfast items. We chose the 10 grain porridge which is an unusual find in a restaurant and it was done very well. the interior ceiling was decorated with beautiful umbrellas hung upside down from wires criss crossing the ceiling. It made for a festive atmosphere.

Wonderful Breakfast

By MinneapolisMaude |

Enjoyed the perfect Father's Day brunch at Marco's. Everything was yummy, my son especially liked the maple bacon spread for his waffle! Great service and a sunny location.

Where locals can indulge in local foods

By shereen r |

I've been going to Marco's for several decades. The food is always good and locally-sourced whenever possible. It's small and has a nice family feel. Their breakfast menu is especially awesome.

Great breakfast

By Jim D |

Sister in law suggested Marco’s for breakfast, good choice. The breakfast scramble was excellent, wife & sister in law split the Amy’s omelette, said was delicious. Service was spot on, would go back.

Crowded fun spot

By Samantha H |

Brunch with family. Biggest complaint is a crowded, uncomfortable waiting area, where you are sure to be as there is a long wait. Food was good- French toast was a generous portion with a side of perfectly crisped bacon. Sunshine salad had too much lettuce, not enough other things (and no avocado), dressing didn’t taste homemade). Egg sandwich was good, as was the Ruben and French dip (lots of meat, nicely toasted bun), fries ok. Service was attentive. Overall a nice afternoon brunch spot but be prepared for the wait.

Good place to eat. Wouldn't drive across town for it.

By Squeezer2012 |

The best part was the service. Food was average. Someday I'll find a good breakfast burrito.

Southwest gem

By buckZor |

Breakfast at Marco's, what a treat. Andouille Sausage benedict.. mmMmMMmm. Paired of course with a BOWL of hazelnut latte! ahhh now my belly is giddy, and I can drive the heck outta this crazy town and get back to Central Oregon.

TERRIFIC Burger

By Paul S |

Marco's is a small hole in the wall- always good. French fries were cold and server returned with a hot order. GREAT burger...this place is ALWAYS a winner!

Seriously

By tiredandtravelled |

I can't believe I didn't review this restaurant before. My favorite breakfast spot, has my favorite breakfast sandwich Avocado Breakfast Sandwich. Coffee is great, bread is good, jam okay, and if I wasn't hooked on the sandwich I would get a Benedict. The potatoes are okay, the fruit salad or hot cereal amazing! Huevos Rancheros really good. Service is good to great, does get crowded for breakfast, but we are early risers. Parking can be a problem... I remember why I never reviewed this before...I didn't want it anymore crowded. For lunch, one warning, I had a sandwich and I should had said mayonnaise on the side.

Don't bother.....

By Travel2223 |

Went here for lunch and very disappointed! The Shrimp Louie, the Cobb Salad, the Meatloaf Sandwich and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich were all mediocre. Service was just okay. Would not go back.

Neighborhood Gem

By Frank P |

Marco's used to be the kind of place that you would go for breakfast any time of day, but had a wide list of offerings, most likely for a small dinner or lunch. They have gentrified considerably and their menus is much shorter and more aimed at somewhat more pricey options. On Saturday evenings, prime rib dinners are on the menu--caution,: you probably won't have room for dessert, which is really too bad because their desserts are excellent. We dine there two or three times a month and would be devastated if they were to close.

Longtime favorite for excellent food, great value

By Robert P |

We've eaten at Marcos for over 20 years and consider this one of our "go-to" places when we have out of town visitors. Always lots of variety, consistently well prepared. Good size portions. Very reasonable prices. Comfortable atmosphere (but not alot of privacy - think 2 open rooms. Ever changing specials that are creative and good.

Wonderful Breakfast spot in Multnomah Village

By Kent S |

Marco's is a lovely (and a bit eclectic) restaurant with a warm urban vibe. The breakfast options are many and varied, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is very good. This is definitely a "do over" place and I am looking forward to trying the lunch and dinner faire.

Pretty good breakfast, service OK, but great local atmosphere

By MacTx |

We've gone to Marco's 3 times now for Sunday breakfast, and it's rapidly becoming our preferred place for breakfast. The food is better than average with a wide selection of omlets, waffles, eggs benedict (with local crab), as well as home made muffins. Service is not the fastest as they have a small wait staff, so don't go there if you are looking for a quick in and out breakfast. If you want to have a nice, slow relaxing breakfast and experience some of the local scene, Marco's is a good start.

Great local restaurant

By maryntessa |

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. I've been going there for many years. The menu is extensive and breakfast is served all day. Interesting daily specials. Plus they have yummy desserts. The ceilings are high so it can be a bit loud when busy, but a large assortment of umbrellas hang from the ciling, possibly to help with that issue. The red potatoes at breakfast are the best, as is the pulled pork sandwich at lunch. Food is fresh and local when available. There can be a wait on weekend mornings.

Food and Fun

By Tapetseb22 |

My wife and I had breakfast here on a Sunday at approximately 11:00 am. It was crowded, but we were seated within 20 minutes. We were given a very nice table by a window. Our server was prompt and friendly. My wife had the Sweet Potato and Beet Hash special. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. Both meals were served in a timely manner and were delicious. We love Marco's and keep coming back whenever were in Portland because the food is great and the atmosphere is fun and very family friendly. Give it a try.

neighborhood excellence

By hAAydon |

Very diverse menus, from breakfast all day to lunch all day to dinner Omelettes, sandwiches, salads, very good coffee, roomy and not too noisy.

Really busy, good food, slow service

By lagaviera |

Breakfast here was good. Food and coffees takes forever to get though if you go during prime time. There could also be a sign in wait list outside if you go when it's busy. Location is great and easy to get to.

A delightful lunch

By Plenderleiths |

Loved this restaurant with it's colourful umbrella's hung from the ceiling. Stopped here for a quick lunch - delightful - but very noisy because it was so full. Excellent food and great service more than made up for the noise.

Just not the same dining experience

By Marita S |

Looked forward to eating at Marco's again with friends. It used to be one of our favorite spots. Sadly, it has really changed. The greeting was cold as well as the restaurant vibe. It really made me sad. Food was regular and subpar and I thought, kind of pricey too. I had one of the scrambles and my sister had the corned beef. The whole dining experience wasn't customer friendly at all. These are really tough times for restaurants and I hope things get better for them. Unfortunately, my friends and I aren't coming back.

Disappointed

By diane p |

It has been a very very long time since we tipped nothing for meal but this was unacceptable. It took a very long time for the food to arrive and when it did it was cool. Our server never came by to ask how our food was or to refill our coffee until the very end, when I think she realized her tip was in jeopardy.

Expected more based on previous reviews!

By HenryW |

We came with another couple for a light dinner, and both my wife and myself had issues with our entrees, While her chicken Caesar salad was delicious and composed of good fresh ingredients, it was so over dressed that it was unacceptably soggy! The highly regarded onion rings that accompanied my OK burger were greasy and heavy. These issues could have been addressed had the waitress stopped by to ask if everything was OK, but she seemed disinterested and distracted!

Nice place for friends.

By pebitpeb |

We went as a small group of family and friends for breakfast and were happy to see a nice selection on the menu. Having eaten there several times over the past 25 years it had been several years that I had not been in town to go. The atmosphere and the service staff are all wonderful and helpful. The food arrived in a timely manner and it was very tasty, I will return again to Marco's the next time we visit Portland.

Feels like the menu has changed, but still good

By LaurieB980 |

We had dinner with friends recently who also enjoy eating at Marco's, and while we feel the menu has changed some over the past months, the meals we had were good. I had the "petite salmon" and dinner salad, and husband had the linguine with seafood as well as a cup of soup. In the past, I have ordered an excellent bolognese with pasta, and I was really hoping they would still have that delicious dish. Also, the last time we were here, they offered a Skuna Bay salmon meal that had me going out to track down that kind of salmon as the preparation had been so good!

A Great Place to eat Breakfast in Multnomah Village

By costaricatravel09 |

Marco's is a great place to eat breakfast any time of the day! The breakfasts here are consistently good, the service friendly and efficient, lots of seating and a comfortable atmosphere. We recently enjoyed a breakfast special of blackened salmon eggs benedict - yum! The eggs were perfectly cooked (not overdone) and the sauce was delicious. The grilled red potatoes are always delicious - skins on and not overly seasoned. My spouse substituted fruit in place of the potatoes. I would recommend this restaurant for couples, friends and families looking for a casual atmosphere to eat in with good food.

Mixed review: Excellent salmon, just "OK" chicken and dumplings

By LaurieB980 |

We went to Marco's for dinner and since the "chicken and dumplings" sounded really good, I ordered that dish. I expected something like what my mom used to make, and while there were indeed chicken pieces and a very good broth, the "dumplings" were gnocchi, and didn't really "do it" for me. I debated between that dish and the Shepherd's pie which I've had before and liked. I really wish they would bring back the tagliatelle with the meat sauce which was about their best dish ever! My husband had the "pan seared salmon" which I should have also gotten because it really was phenomenal!! The taste he shared with me made me go hunting on the internet after we got home for something of the same deliciousness; it was very tasty! Service was quite slow and since it was a Friday evening, it seemed to be a bit par for the course. I noticed several people standing near the desk waiting and, like us, were there for a long time. The hostess was also serving food, so they may have been short-handed. We will come back, but think I will know what to order next time!

Great food but kind of expensive

By John P |

Wife and I each had salads for lunch. She had the Cobb and I had the sunshine salad. Mine was really good, especially loved the dried bing cherries. Hers was good too but the chicken was a little bland. At $15.50 per salad, the bill got pretty big really fast, add coffee and tip and you're over $40 for lunch. Service was outstanding and coffee was excellent.

Food does not disappoint!

By SuzanneLG |

This restauant has been around for a long time and each time I go, I have ALWAYS come away satisfied. So since it has been so long, since I have gone here, I didn't know about the long wait, lucky for me my girlfriend and I went back to the car to visit while our husbands held our post, BUT I DIDN'T MIND a bit, since it was Sunday and we weren't in a hurry. Something new for me a Mango Mimosa, mmmmmm good, (they had a variety of flavors). Everyone was so glad we went and will go back soon, since we have discovered so many choices. I must have changed my mind on what dish I would order at least once,ha ha....

Breakfast

By william s |

Always good at this westside spot in fun neighborhood of Multnomah. Local clean, healthy food. Very popular anytime of day. Breakfast can be a wait on weekend. Darn locals fill it up.

Excellent food

By Suzanne B |

Three of us visited and each chose a different dish. The place was busy but we got a friendly welcome and a table found. I had the shepherds pie which was delicious, one friend had quiche which she equally enjoyed and another had a corned beef sandwich and a white sangria. No complaints and would visit again.

Multnomah Village neighborhood icon

By Sugarsgirl |

It was a rainy night in Portland - but Marcos was a very warm and friendly place to have dinner with cousins and spouse. The menu was very affordable. This time a vegetarian roulade - tasty, perfect portion size. The soup featured couscous - hearty and warming. The spouse and a cousin had a chicken thing with ginger sauce, another cousin had a salad. We were all very happy with the meals. The service is attentive. The water glasses were kept full. The beer selection met the needs of the brew snob - and there are 2 sizes to the glasses. Wine suggestions with the main courses. Didn't have dessert this time - but have come to Marcos just for dessert on other weekend afternoons. The parking lot can be full during busy times and the street parking can also be all taken during the feeding rush times - weekend brunches and some nights. Reading materials are available while reading if you aren't interested in walking up to windowshop the neighborhood. Love the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.

Delicious Neighborhood Destination

By PortlandKLS |

I love taking friends and family to Marco's. The food is really excellent and service is always friendly. More than anything, I love the overall atmosphere of this restaurant. It feels warm, cozy and relaxed on a dark, rainy Portland day or evening. And in the summer it is so cheery and comfortable. Truly a neighborhood gathering place. But what always surprises me is the variety of options they offer. The "luncheon" salad menu (served all day) is extensive and is often the focus of our group's meals. However, there are yummy sandwiches too, and burgers, meatloaf etc. But be sure to check out the daily dinner specials. There is always something that makes my mouth start to water on the list. My last visit was for dessert and espresso, only, with family. Some of the options seem homey, or even rustic (like bread pudding), but NOONE was disappointed. We lingered and savored every bite. This memorable experience did make me wish that there was a good way to serve (and keep warm) a GIANT mocha.

Nice dinner experience

By JERRYG448 |

The menu items have good variety and the dishes we had were well prepared and fresh tasting. I had the sirloin steak salad which was generous and tasty. My wife had the Shepherd's Pie which she felt was a little on the bland taste and could have used some more spice. Service was friendly and efficient.

VERY TASTY

By lk2273 |

met for breakfast, wonderful food, service outstanding. eggs benedict, eggs done just right, holandaise sauce light and perfect will come back for lunch

Neighborhood Cafe

By Paths Through Oregon and Beyond |

Marco's is a neighborhood cafe where Multnomah Villagers meat friends and come to grab a meal throughout the day. Their menu of sandwiches, salads, breakfast all day, etc. means you're bound to find something that is appealing. It's dependable, homey, basic food without fuss. While not a culinary adventure for the foodies in your life, they do provide consistent quality and personalized (though sometimes slow - they can get super busy!) service. The breakfast menu is available all-day and includes some delicious scrambles, omelets, and eggs benedict. Our main gripe is the potatoes that come with the various egg breakfast dishes. Not quite true hash browns, not quite roasted potatoes, they're kind of boring unless you add ketchup or some other condiment. The lunch menu includes salads and sandwiches. I like the southwestern salad, sunshine salad, and the mandarin orange salads. The dinner menu changes throughout the seasons, but usually has at least one beef, one vegetarian, and one fish option. They've recently gotten a full liquor license. On our most recent trip, we found the bloody marys to need a bit of zing; but they packed more of a whollop than we'd originally thought. Overall, a good solid local cafe.

Lunch with the ladies

By joslyn1966 |

Delicious sw salad - added grilled salmon so it was even better. The three friends with me all ordered breakfast and raved about their meals. The only down side was the slow service with ice tea refills and to bring my side of bread. I would definitely come here again.

BAD MENU CHANGES

By Taylor R |

I have been coming to Marcos for 20 years now since I was an infant and I can honestly say the RECENT CHANGES in the menu are HORRIBLE. So horrible to me in fact that I broke down and cried right there in the restaurant. They cut the menu from a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, breakfast items down to a paltry and meager handful. The service which used to be fast has become incredibly SLOW. The food is OVERPRICED now and the portions are VERY SMALL. The funny thing is if you had asked me even as little as two weeks ago I probably would have given it DOUBLE the rating I am now. And even as early as the beginning of the summer I would have given it 5 stars. But the CHANGES to me as a LOCAL are so APPALLING, I would no longer recommend this as a place to visit. Maybe if it goes back to how it was I will reconsider

Delicious

By ejamie16 |

Very delicious breakfast! This was our second visit here and we have enjoyed everything we have ordered. I got the Avocado Benedict and my husband order the French Toast. Both were very good as was the bacon - nice and crispy. Yummy!

Breakfast

By magster929 |

I have been to Marco's for breakfast, and lunch (and dinner once). Each time was an enjoyable dining experience. The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. My favorite is to try their new specials. Depending upon what is fresh that day is the special that is served. My "go to" for breakfast is the eggs Benedict. Yum! I highly recommend this location for "good eats". Expect a line on the weekends ...especially Sunday morning

One of many visits to this delightful neighborhood eatery

By Rod C |

My wife and two friends had dinner Saturday, July 27th. Our meals included prime rib, risotto, Caesar salad with blackened salmon and a specialty of the house burger. We topped it off with an unbelievably sinful slice of chocolate mouse with whipped cream, a portion plenty large for all four of us. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive - as it always is. We were introduced to the daily specials, among them the prime rib. My only regret is that I was not the one to order the prime rib. It is so delightful to enjoy a meal at a neighborhood restaurant where you feel like a part of a community, not just a customer. We will continue to return to Marco's and highly recommend it to others.

Our Favorite Restuarant in Portland!

By Greg217 |

Best for everything: food, service, and staff! Our favorite neighborhood restaurant, we return almost weekly. Prices are fair, but service and food quality are unsurpassed in Portland! Almost all food/coffee is local, organic/natural, and has many vegetarian-friendly options, and of course the staff are happy to accomodate! Love it!

A neighborhood favorite

By Mike M |

Marco's is a delightful place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The regular menu at dinner is straight forward and very complete, but the specials show off the skill of the kitchen. They are busy, so plan ahead. Always ask for the bread and you may luck out to be there on Thursday when the soap of the day is mulligatawny. It is worth going just for it. The portions are generous and the service is excellent. All of the staff really care. The ceiling is decorated in upside down umbrellas - fitting for Portland. It is located in the quaint Multnomah Village, so go for awalk after dinner. Marco's is rated one of the best of its kind in Portland- come as you are.

An Institution

By Julia D |

Extensive menu, and not a bad item n the bunch....specials are just that! Also, one of the finest burgers around, and I'm a expert on these matters:) great wait staff, fun atmosphere ...tons of locals can't be wrong. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinners, desserts, coffee, drinks...they have it all.

Good and consistent

By spiritofdelft |

Marcos is located in Multnomah Village. It is a nice spot with efficient staff and kitchen. All the items are good on a menu that stays interesting. They also serve a great breakfast which is kind of hard to find these days.

Oh, my! Oh, my!! The apple pie!!

By Margaret_Bunkhouse_Boss |

I'm staying near Marco's and have walked down the hill to enjoy breakfast and lunch. Both were excellent, affordable and "just as described". One afternoon I wanted something sweet, a "pick me up", so I went in, sat at the counter and had apple pie. Oh, my!! The BEST apple pie a la mode I've ever had.

Excellent!

By megmagoo |

I was traveling on business and was craving breakfast options late evening. They accommodated my omlet craving to a T! Build tour own omelet was amazing and had a side of toast from the local bakery next door. Great service and excellent food. I would highly recommend this place and will be back!

Great food, not usually a long wait, central location

By luciasur |

Love the food, service is good, can find parking, centrally located, reliable quality. I've always had a good meal here. Been here 3 times. Way above average for Portland breakfasts.

Lunch with friends

By joslyn1966 |

Met for lunch with friends and enjoyed a delicious shrimp Louie salad with roasted red pepper vinaigrette - yummy. This salad was quite large and had oodles of shrimp. The 3 other people in my group enjoyed their salads as well. The service was good - thanks!

NEIGHBORHOOD CASUAL

By M0rM0r2 |

We eat at Marco's whenever we have visitors because it is a) nearby b) always good c) has a broad selection from sandwiches to full dinners, cocktails to espresso. As a plus, servers seem happy to be there. Everything tastes freshly prepared and native flavors are allowed to shine through. Wish they'd bring back my personal favorite, the portobello mushroom sandwich. NOTE: This restaurant is popular with families, so be prepared for the presence of children at early dinner hours.

Best Veggie Burger Ever!!!!

By Missy B |

We visited this adorable cafe for my daughters 17th birthday with her friend. They had a delicious breakfast and I had the most wonderful veggie burger I've ever had. The homemade potato salad with dill was out of this world. The umbrellas on the ceiling gave it a very fun ambiance. I definitely recommend!

Dependable!

By Bryan H |

I'm never totally wowed by the service or the food at Marcos, but I go there because I know breakfast/brunch/lunch will run smoothly, and I can focus on the conversation at hand. Usually I go here when I want to catch up with a friend and a colleague. It's nice to focus on the conversation. Having said that, it's a fairly busy place. You may have to wait a few minutes depending on when you go. And I find it a fairly expensive restaurant for what you get, so don't expect cheap eats.

Great Neighborhood restaurant

By greatfultravelr |

Marcos is a cafe with consistently good food and service. They buy local when it is available and incorporate seasonal fruits and vegetables on the menu. They have daily specials that cover most of the food groups (seafood, meat, chicken and always have a vegetarian option). The price is a little high for a cafe but I think it is because they always use quality ingredients. I have eaten at this restaurant for over 25 years and I have never gotten sick or had a stomach ache after a meal. They do not take reservations so if you go at a prime time be prepared to wait.

Overpriced mediocrity

By bambooshadow |

Bland, common, boring tasting food that had price tags associated to it that felt like a huge rip off with a tinge of arrogance. My family and I will never waste our time coming here again; once is enough.

Good food and drink in Multnomah Village

By Doug H |

We had received a recommendation to try lunch at Marco's Cafe if we were in Multnomah Village so we made the visit. It was a bustling cafe less than a block off the main street. We were promptly seated and received good and helpful service. The server seemed a little rushed but it was busy. We received our food and beverages promptly and the quality and presentation of the food was good. Marco's has the feel of a small town cafe and tasty food. We enjoyed the experience but wouldn't make it a destination place to eat. If in the area we would stop back.

Always Excellent

By Tapetseb22 |

My wife makes Marco's a must stop whenever we're in Portland. I never argue because we always receive excellent food and good service. On a recent Monday morning we were seated right away and given their delicious coffee. After we ordered breakfast our food was delivered quickly. The server was very friendly and efficient. We love Marco's and will be back.

This place exudes charm, simplicity, great food and friendly service. Been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It never disappoints

Quality Does A Deep Dive

By Jerry A |

We arrived about 9:30 am on a Tuesday morning to find the cafe with no waiting and half or more of the tables available. We were promptly seated and my wife immediately found ketchup on her hand when she moved the bottle. It has been a couple of years since we last visited Marco’s Cafe but when our daughter suggested the four of us meet for breakfast this morning I was looking forward to it. They have an extensive menu, friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. But my traditional breakfast (eggs, potatoes, toast and for $5.50 a house made pork sausage patties) was underwhelming. My potatoes were barely warm and the two 3-inch sausage patties were barely above room temp, dried out and tougher than shoe leather. The Waffle Gnome my wife had was good but the side of bacon ($5.50) was dry and if left out much longer it would have been brittle. Our daughter had the blintzes but probably would not order them again and the Special scramble was just okay. 2 coffees $8.50 and a carafe of Mimosa’s $40. Total price $116.50 not including tip. Too bad - it use to be a place I would recommend, but not anymore.

Decent place to eat

By SivaOR |

We like coming to Marcos. There is a varied menu with daily specials and I've never had a bad meal here. The prices are affordable and the food is good.

Just Average

By John G |

We ate a Marco's last weekend, we live in the neighborhood and would love to have a top notch breakfast destination near home. Needless to say Marco's does not fit the bill. The food was just average, being in a city that has a number of superb restaurants, just average is tough. If you happen to be in Multnomah Village and need a meal Marco's would be fine, don't drive across town to eat hear. My wife's breakfast sandwich was a disappointment, came opened faced and was not hot. My omelette lacked a flavor pop, the potatoes that were served with the breakfast entrees were slightly below average and lacked salt.

Some Like it Hot!

By Kim G |

I was a little disappointed in my breakfast. It came lukewarm and I like my food hot. I had the breakfast dish with sweet potatoes, which I believe had been sitting in a pan for quite a while. It looked better than it tasted. Service was decent but not out of the ballpark.

great breakfast!

By bmatsuda |

I would actually rate this place a 4.5 as I've only eaten there once. If it was consistently great food & service, then a 5. We were just in the area for a weekend seminar and had a great breakfast here! Veggie breakfast burrito was huge and delicious - more than one meal! My 3 cohorts had a veggie scramble, gluten-free breakfast, and bacon avocado benedict and they all loved their meals, all of them taking leftovers to go (except the benedict which was fully consumed on the spot). And the peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookie was one of the most delicious I've ever eaten! It was still warm! My only regret was that I didn't get more to go! Service was great too. Apparently much more expedient than the small café a few doors up the street where my colleagues said the service painfully slow for breakfast the day previous despite being very quiet.

I love this place!

By 77pnwgirl |

I've been here twice this summer, for lunch and dinner. I had breakfast both times and it was awesome both times. The wait was less than 5 minutes each time (on weekends) and the service was great. The atmosphere is fun and cozy without feeling squished. The servers were great about communicating what the specials were and what was sold out. But the best part is the menu/food! Both times I just sat there saying "ooh, that sounds good!" "oh, THAT sounds good!" over and over. Portions were good- we took leftovers both times. I look forward to my next visit!

GREAT service AND food!

By LaurieB980 |

We met for a business lunch with a gentleman for lunch here, and I greatly enjoyed the special they offered that day of pappardelle noodles with a meat sauce. REALLY good! Their almond bread went great with my dish and because the portions were fairly large, I had enough for another meal at home! My husband and our host also said their lunches were quite good. We will definitely be back for another meal here!

Lovely Lunch

By AcornOwl |

Three of us had a lovely late lunch here. The food was delish and we appreciated the use of local produce. We needed a place where we could talk and we were given a small table that was quiet and out of the way. The wait staff didn't hover, but were nonetheless attentive. The decor was charming. While the cost was slightly higher than we normally pay, it was well worth it and a refreshing change from regular 'chain' restaurants.

Very good food; excellent service; reasonable prices

By Carey S |

Given the title of my review, what’s not to like. This was our first visit to this neighborhood restaurant, though our friends had been there several times. My cod fish and chips were upgraded to halibut fish and chips (ran out of cod) - I was VERY happy. They even made me a special cocktail sauce for my halibut to go with the malt vinegar. It was excellent. Our server was very accommodating with my wife’s salmon, substituting Brussels sprouts for the potatoes. Our wine and cider were very good and our bread pudding dessert was excellent! All of the above came to a very reasonable $55. We will definitely be back to this wonderful spot.

Cozy café in cozy Multnomah Village

By SurfStrider |

For me the ideal time at Marco's is 8:30 a.m., before the brunchers fill the entry and straggle out the door, a perennial problem across Portland. Once seated, you'll find the happiest, most energetic and eager-to-please servers in Oregon. And they'll be bringing you good-sized plates of hot food. From scrambles to omelettes, benedicts, French toast and oatmeal, they know what they're doing: creative and flavorful, you get more than you pay for, and your coffee and water never run dry. Try to nab a table close to the windows and out of the people-traffic for a quieter meal. And feel free to bring the baby. They are tolerant of flying crayons and special requests.

Fantastic food/Great atmosphere!

By robert b |

Just a great up-scale restaurant. The Brisket was flavorful and absolutely the most tender I have had. The beans on the side were like a slow-burning chili: thick and meaty with beans done to perfection. My daughter had the ravioli in cream corn--WOW! different, but so very, very good!

Food was good but wanted more. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy but was still a little hungry when I left.

Did not honor coupon, mistreated by management

By tedscheinman |

I have eaten at Marcos for breakfast and lunch numerous times, but never dinner. I bought a coupon on Restaurant.com for a dinner to try it for dinner. The dinner was excellent, but when I went to to use it (the coupon is supposed to never expire), I was refused). After dinner, I was told they did not honor that coupon - that they had pulled out of the program over a year before - but the coupon still printed. I spoke with the manager who was somewhat rude. I even wrote a letter to the owner, including the coupon, my bill, and receipt. It was not just about the coupon issue, but the treatment given about it. I received back a letter saying the same thing - that they were not a part of Restaurant.com. I can understand that they pulled out of the Restaurant.com program, but I felt they took it out on me. They could have offered me a discount based on one of their other many discounts (Entertainment, etc.), or even apologized, and invited me back, but they didn't. I felt like I was not heard. As a result, I will not return to this restaurant. I was a regular, who was mistreated by all levels of management. It is easier to keep a customer than find a new one.

Always a favorite when we travel to Portland

By Joyce R |

This is a restaurant that never fails to please whether you go for breakfast, lunch or dinner all the food and drinks are good. We had the BLT with avocado as well as a patty melt which was delicious! Try the homemade lemonade and fruit tart! Yum!

Great Place for Breakfast! Vegetarian food too!

By TnEShlaes |

Homemade breads and soups! Breakfast available all day. A Whole dessert case too! A good assortment of foods including breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also do special meals for the holidays. Can get crowded for weekend breakfasts so go early. Great staff and very friendly.

good seafood tonight!

By LaurieB980 |

We went to Marco's for dinner tonight and both of us got seafood dishes. I got the cornmeal crusted cod and my husband got the trout special. Both were quite good! I gotta admit, however, that it was the truffle fries that got our taste buds going! They were REALLY good!! We also enjoyed the walnut bread we were served with the meal. We saw a lot of people ordering breakfast meal tonight, and all looked delicious!

Our final meal using the Passport card!

By LaurieB980 |

We have enjoyed evenings out at Marco's over the years and when they went on the Passport card, it was even more fun to eat here as we got a bit of a discount included with our delicious meals! Unfortunately, the Passport card will no longer be available for use at Marco's after tomorrow evening, so that was part of our reason to make this our chosen dinner spot for our weekly dinner out. Tonight, we shared a green salad that had golden beets with it (wonderful!) then both of us ordered the rock fish entree with gnocchi and green beans (possibly haricot verts, not sure), and it was quite good. They also serve a nutty bread to nibble on while one decides what to order, and I liked it, but my husband, not so much. When it came time to pay, our server told us that the restaurant relationship with the Passport card had ended yesterday, and we mentioned that the web site said it ended tomorrow. She checked with the manager, and she said he didn't want anyone going away upset, so honored the card. We were happy because using the discount card one last time was a big reason for coming to Marco's tonight!

Dinner with kids”a

By footlucy |

We came early, 5:30 pm on Friday evening. There were 5 of us including two under the age of three. My husband called and they told him they would have a table ready. When we arrived there were folks ahead of us. No problem as we only waited about 15 minutes. The waitress took our order and someone brought one of the grandchildren water with a straw and cap. We had to ask twice more to get the other child water. We ordered two salmon dinners, one medium and one pink and prime rib. We waited 45 minutes for our dinners. Both salmon dinners came charred and over cooked with baby roasted potatoes that were so undercooked that you could not pierce them with a fork. My husband returned his dinner and it took 30 minutes before it came back. My daughter returned her potatoes and they took 30 min. My prime rib was over cooked with a fair amount of gristle. The kids were desperate to eat so I fed them off mine and made due. We had also ordered two glasses of wine and the ticket was over $70. At the end of the meal they offered to take $10 off our meal. We had spent over two hours and a fair amount of frustration trying to enjoy a relaxing Friday evening. roasted potatoes

A terrific little neighborhood gem

By Barbara P |

Apparently I've been living under a rock because everyone else seems to know about this place but I just had my first meal there and it was excellent. I went with a group of friends and we went a bit late as one of the ladies said it gets crowded at lunch time. By the time we went we were quickly seated. Our server was delightful. The menu was extensive and interesting with both traditional and innovative offerings. The portions were quite large--most of our plates could easily have been shared by two people. The ambience is pleasant--nothing spectacular but comfortable. I have since heard that this is a great place for breakfast, but I am thinking I'd like to try that and dinner here. I believe there is a full bar but since I didn't order a drink, I'm not sure.

Excellent Food

By Helen G |

Great place for reasonably priced, good food. We had breakfast. There are many selections, reasonably priced and nicely prepared.

Better than expected

By LaurieB980 |

A friend said that he had been disappointed in his meal here some time ago, but had come back recently and thought the food was much better than before! We took a chance and came this week, and felt that it was pretty good. The spicy shrimp were quite good and came with fingerling potatoes and delicata squash all of which I liked. Husband got a burger that was HUGE and he said, very good. We also got the truffle fries and while they could have been cooked slightly longer, they had excellent flavor. Our servers did a pretty good job although we could tell that there were only two, and they were doing just about everything on the floor.

Good, not worth the hype

By Nancy T |

This is the second time I have been to Marco's. I am from out-of-state but visit Oregon with some regularity. I like the atmosphere at Marco's - it's a bustling place and the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling are fun. I like the eclectic menu. But I find that the food doesn't always live up to the ambitious menu. This time for example, I had the eggplant sandwich. The bun was nothing to write home about - I have had better bread options zillions of times. The eggplant would be better if it were marinated instead of battered and fried, in my opinion. The problem with the breading is 1) you are already eating it on a thick white bun and 2) it slides off and separates from the eggplant. I don't like the glass glasses they serve their 16 oz espresso drinks in. If I could remember this, I would always order a 12 oz espresso which comes in a nice ceramic cup, instead.

Good food, service, and menu

By MikaLeigh77 |

Nice neighborhood restaurant, with ample street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood. Looked like there were some cute shops around, too. I've had breakfast and dinner, and both times the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was tasty. On Fridays they offer prime rib. It was pretty good, and the chocolate dessert ordered was yummy. Not my favorite prime rib in the area (that likely goes to Chart House or Sayler's), but good, and a very reasonable price!

Expensive and Tasteless

By Pinot Noir |

My wife suggested we dine there last night based on a good lunch she had at this restaurant some months ago. While the dinner portions were substantial, the food was without taste. My shepherd's pie had minimal flavor, though they used premium beef (not lamb), and plain mashed potato covered with melted cheese. My wife's pasta was also without much taste, though perfectly cooked. Her red sangria was a generous glassful but without much flavor and my tap beer was the epitome of light in flavor, though not a white or light beer. Certainly it may have been what we ordered, or maybe it is the philosophy of the restaurant and the kinds of clients they are servicing, but while I enjoyed being in what is clearly a neighborhood restaurant, I won't be returning.

Good for a neighborhhod lunch or dinner

By Jrc4545 |

Marco’s has been around a long time. Nothing will push your tastebuds out of the comfort level. Generally well executed and reasonable cost

Dependable quality and service: Always Excellent

By Basha K |

Marco's Cafe has offered excellent food for a very long time. Over the past 28 years, we have been consistently pleased with the excellent quality of the food, amicable service, and satisfying selection. We usually eat breakfast, brunch, or lunch there but hear that dinner is also very good. We patronize many restaurants across the city and suburbs, always seeking something new and delicious, but we always return to Marco's as our "go-to" restaurant.

Delicious Brunch with great company!

By TravelGal9876 |

Marco's Café is a corner restaurant we visited in the Multnomah Village with friends for brunch on a Saturday morning . We were warned beforehand that this place may very well be packed because it was a Saturday and a nice day outside, but were pleasantly surprised when there wasn't a wait at all. The place was not anything fancy but had adequate number of 4-person tables, with a couple of long tables for bigger groups. The menu boasted of items ranging from a seasoned vegetable scramble to a creole plate. Our server came almost immediately after we were seated to get our drink orders. Soon afterwards, she came to also get our food orders. She was also very friendly and even had a brief conversation with us about the food. I ordered the Chorizo Migas, which was chorizo served with tortillas, potatoes, onions and red enchilada sauce, and two eggs, cheese and cilantro. Since my hunger level was getting pretty high, the presentation and aroma of the food was especially very inviting. The potatoes used were delicious and cooked almost to perfection, the eggs were of the right size, and the flavor combination of the ingredients was exactly what I was expecting. Everyone else in our group ordered the breakfast skillet. Their dishes also looked very inviting and the feedback was that they were delicious and very filling. This is definitely a good place for brunch and I would go back here again, perhaps trying one of the other delicious-sounding items on their menu. Tips for this restaurant: Try to get in as early as possible, especially on weekends. Even though we were able to get a table immediately, the place filled up quickly after we got seated.

A Destination Restaurant

By Kimberley42 |

I live near Multnomah Village and Marco's and use it frequently as a landmark, because people drive from all over Portland to come here. Great food and ambiance, with reasonable prices. I like to meet here for business meetings.

Disappointing

By Ed P |

It's unfortunate that we have to give Marco's such a low rating today. We have been customers of theirs for over 20 years. But since when does an eggs benedict NOT get served on an English muffin? Especially if it is not stated as such on the menu. I ordered the eggs benedict heirloom tomato from the 'specials' menu, asked them to hold the meat, and was served eggs on a slice of tomato with a smattering of hollandaise sauce. When I asked for an English muffin, I was charged extra for it, even though they had not reduced the price for serving it meat-less. The potatoes were also disappointing, too mushy, not like they used to be!

A great place for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner

By dyburman |

The cafe is in a great location with parking in the back. Warm friendly atmosphere, casual and fun. Nice bar with great local beers. Breakfasts are outstanding, as well as lunches. the Specials were quite good and highly recommended by other parties in my group. Very friendly and attentive service! Appears to have a great dinner menu, but only available after 5pm. Highly recommend it.

Multnomah Village Go To

By jdearmond |

Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner you can't go wrong. Fresh ingredients, interesting menu, many choices, great coffee and desserts. Moderately priced. Low key, great service.

Excellent restaurant in Multnomah Village.

By coxaloharc |

Nicely prepared, tasty food. Fast, friendly service.

Awesome breakfast!

By Otisea |

We hadn’t dined at Marco’s for years, which we used to always consider a go-to for a leisurely breakfast. It sadly has been remodeled and both my wife and I thought it had lost a lot of its charm, that being said, the food was VERY GOOD and the staff was friendly and attentive as well!

good place for lunch

By LaurieB980 |

We met a gentleman here for business/leisure lunch, and both my husband and he had the turkey reuben sandwiches which they both said were good. I had the "Bo's Shrimp Louis" salad with avocado, hard boiled egg, tomatoes, greens, and of course, small shrimp. It was very good and the thousand island dressing that came with it was quite delicious! We have enjoyed our meals at Marco's each time we come for dinner or lunch.

Remote, but excellent

By C_and_C_Oldtimers |

This neighborhood is not the place you would expect to find an establishment of this quality. It is definitely off the beaten track, located in a former residence in the hills south west of Portland. I am a former resident of Portland and I never heard of the place. After a meeting at a local museum, one of the staff suggested we go there for q quick lunch. The smell of fresh ground, roasting coffee emanating from the building was enough to draw our party inside. The coffee was excellent and the delivery was never ending. Residing in a former house, the atmosphere did not seem crowded, even though there was little empty space. The menu was exciting and presented several dishes that were enticing and different from the usual luncheon fare. The service was fast and efficient. The question were completely and accurately answered. The dishes were quite ample but not overwhelming as so many restaurants seem to do today. The prices were moderate but definitely in line with both the service and quality of the meal. I put the address in my GPS so that on my next return to Portland I can go directly there.

A long standing member of the village - good food.

By billw85 |

I have enjoyed eating breakfast at Marco's for at least twenty years. The food has been interesting, varied, and almost always excellent. Lunch are also pretty good, but my favorites have been the desserts. Well worth search for Marco's and then searching for a parking place so that you can eat there when you are in Portland.

Always Awesome Breakfast

By kinepeli |

Marco's has a wonderful selection of regular menu items, but they outdo themselves on the weekend specials. I'm an eggs benedict fan and they have some excellent twists on it. For instance, one weekend there was a benedict that had shredded red potato cakes mixed with chives and sour cream, crispy bacon, hollandaise and eggs; another was toasted brioche, sundried tomatoes, avacado, bacon, hollandaise and eggs. Fabulous. They are always prompt with the coffee refills, but if you're in the mood for a latte, try the Cafe Brian (espresso, vanilla syrup, chocolate syrup, steamed milk and whipped cream). Dessert with your breakfast. The service has always been top notch - and the wait staff certainly get their work out. Weekend mornings are always crowded with people from every corner of the city. Be prepared for a wait - especially on rainy winter weekend mornings - but it's worth it!!

Dependably good, but never routine.

By buckup2000 |

I've been a Marco's customer since they first opened many years ago. They've always been imaginative and of high quality, though it's been through three ownerships I know of. The prices seem to be getting a bit high, but still well below most of the premier restaurants. I've been there for breakfast and dinner this week, and both were very satisfied, but the nod goes to the dinner, a delicious fresh halibut filet. Their house made herbed tarter sauce was a very nice touch. The entree with a dinner salad and latte was $27.50, not too bad, and I'd give the meal a five star rating. The desserts look great, but I rarely eat one these days. )

Can't Miss Breakfasts

By M L |

Last trip I had blueberry pancakes. Three plate size pancakes with tons of blueberries. Pancakes were light as a feather. Son had brioche French toast. He loved it. On previous trips have had egg dishes which all hit the mark. Gets crowded, but efficient staff keeps things moving. Free coffee while you wait.

nice local restaurant

If you're looking for a sit-down breakfast that will carry you over till dinner, this is it. Very good eggs benedict and potatoes, great coffee and the service is good with nice people.

Delicious, huge breakfast

By ERG0716 |

I really loved the corned beef hash, with 2 eggs and hazelnut toast. The ambience was nice and the waitstaff was even nicer!

Cute little cafe!

By FloridaLady |

I loved being able to sit outside on a beautiful day and enjoy time with family. The beef tips were delicious and the portions adequate. I would come back again next time I’m in the area.

A Nice Place!

By martinipen |

Marco's is a delightful little place in a quaint, cool neighborhood. I had a reuben sandwich and my wife had a burger. Both were right around ten dollars, and were well made and of high quality. The beer was exceptional. I think this place is definitely worth a stop when in Portland.

Wonderful food, great wine!

By alleycat53 |

Nice comfortable place to go and enjoy friends and really special food.

Horribly noisy mediocre expensive food

By pat z |

If you love to shout at your dining companions, this is the place for you. Unless you can snag a place on the "porch", it's incredibly loud. The food is nothing special, standard fare. There's nothing on the lunch menu below $10 except a HALF grilled cheese for $8.25; HALF tuna melt for $7.50; plain lettuce salad for $8; and cup or bowl of soup. If it were exceptional food, maybe I'd overlook the miserable ambiance, but it's not.

A neighborhood treasure

By Grammyskids |

We used to come to this charming neighborhood restaurant until a few years ago when it seemed to go downhill. Portions were small and the staff not accommodating. I am so happy we decided to return to this once favorite restaurant, hoping it had improved, and we we not disappointed! The dinner portions were a perfect size and included a vegetable and a starch. My husband and I both ordered the halibut and our fish was moist and tender along with a delicious flavor. Our tablemates ordered a cod dinner and the ravioli. They both liked the cod but said the ravioli was a bit disappointing. The dinners did not include a salad or soup and we did not order either one. The dessert menu looked fine, but didn't include anything unusual so we opted not to order any. The wait staff was friendly but did seem to be a bit short on help as our waitress had to cover many tables. Now that we have rediscovered this neighborhood gem in the quaint Multnomah area of Portland, we will return, especially to try the extensive breakfast menu which we used to enjoy many years ago.

Great neighborhood restaurant with "down home" food!

By LaurieB980 |

We had the cornmeal crusted cod and 1/2 order of the shepherd's pie entree and thought both were quite good. My husband had the cod, but gave me a bite, and we both thought it was extremely well prepared to be so delicious! One gets the local neighborhood feeling eating here, and we really enjoyed being part of that! We will be back sooner than later!

Another terrible omelet at Marco's!

By BarefootBuddies |

I'm sorry, but Marco's has terrible omelets. I ordered a vegetable omelet. How hard can it be to mess that up? It was filled with tomatoes and about 5 small skinny slices of mushroom and a teeny bit of spinach. No cheese. They should call it what it was - a tomato omelet. There are so many other breakfast places in Portland. This is the LAST time I'm eating here. Also, it is SO NOISY!

Fun space, good food

By Derek M |

This is a nice brunch spot. My hubby had the burrito, as did our friends, I had the breakfast sandwich. Both were tasty choices. Service was good, but pretty slow. They were packed so that may have overwhelmed the kitchen. Otherwise a nice morning outing.

Great menu, excellent drinks

By Yasmin |

Fantastic spicy Bloody Mary to get your palate going for a wonderful brunch menu. The Quiché was huge and the cherry tomato scramble took advantage of all the fresh fruit in season. Delicious.

Off in the burbs, a wonderful surprise

By jdana130 |

On the recommendation of the bookstore staff, we tried this restaurant for lunch. My husband had a tuna melt and I had the mandarin chicken salad. Both were very good. The onion rings were too mushy, maybe a tad undercooked. The menu is large with interesting choices. The server was friendly and fast. We would go back, especially for breakfast.

Best pork chops and polenta I've ever eaten

By rswisley |

Pork chops, polenta and Brussels sprouts are some of my favorite food already. The way they were prepared, with a light mustard sauce, made this the best meal I have ever eaten. Along with a glass of Malbec and chicken rice soup this meal cost $31. The staff is delightful and the restaurant sits on a corner with lots of window seats. Multnomah Village is a short ride from downtown through the beautiful Portland hills. I also had a fresh veggie scramble then next day that was scrumptious. I also came back the next day for a cup of spinach polenta soup that was yummy. Very consistent, good quality food over a 3 day period.

Great Breakfast with an added plus! Food was excellent. I left my Kindle in the bathroom unfortunately. 12 hours later I called and they had it and I was so thankful! They are so kind and caring!

A perennial favorite

By BobConklin |

Marco's is one of our two favorite restaurants in the Portland area for breakfast or lunch. We most often go on weekends, when it is generally crowded; but the tables turn efficiently so the wait is never too long. Both food and service are excellent. The menu is extensive and varied, with a great range of egg dishes, waffles, salads, sandwiches, and other specialty dishes. They also have excellent desserts. Atmosphere is casual but pleasant, and while not exactly quiet, the noise level does not interfere with normal conversation. Best of all, though, is the food. The location is a little out of the way, in Multnomah Village, perhaps 5 miles or so from downtown Portland.

This is our go-to restaurant in Portland

By Debbie S |

This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. It is a little "mom and pop" neighborhood cafe in Multnomah Village, which is part of Portland. It has a lot of Northwest favorites on the menu, such as salmon and steelhead, and the food is excellent. They serve breakfast all day, and one of my favorite meals is the avocado and egg sandwich from the breakfast menu (which I frequently get for dinner). I also love the caesar salad with blackened salmon.
