Great People, Great Food & Great Service!

By scottaffuse |

I love to eat at this family restaurant. The Cochinita pibil is amazing (and hard to find at most Mexican restaurants). This place is worth making a trip.

The best place to go before an international flight!

By crunch6 |

Book a late night flight out of OHare, have your driver bring you here for OUTSTANDING Mexican food, pick you up after dinner and margaritas.....hop on your flight and doze off with delight! Next day you’re there!!

Wonderful attention and hospitality

By Happyvu |

I called ahead of time because all I really wanted was to watch NCAA Football. Yes they would let me watch whatever I want, just come on in. I came in, they put me in a booth in front of the TV and gave me the remote!!! Cervezas were perfect, and they brought excellent chips and salsa (which was truly mild, not what some advertise as "mild." You can "spice" it up with authentic hot sauce--not the garden, or Louisiana variety...the Real Deal--) Ordered beans and tamale to go. Also enjoyed the free WiFi. Local guests all in happy mood! Definitely authentic!

Consistently delicious

By Joanne V |

I have come to Rosemont, IL many years for work. Every time I make sure to get to Maria's. It is absolutely delicious EVERY TIME. Salsa, tacos, drinks and more. Everyone I take also falls in love with this restaurant.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit for Mexican Food Lovers in South Lake Tahoe!

By A2coolcity |

My husband and I are vacationing in South Lake Tahoe and were craving quality Mexican food—after reading several reviews, we decided to try Maria’s Mexican Restaurant, and we’re so glad we did! This place exceeded all expectations in every way. We arrived with only 30 minutes to dine, and from the moment we walked in, the service was incredibly accommodating. We let our server know our time crunch, and he was not only understanding but also attentive and kind. That welcoming attitude set the tone for a fantastic experience. 😋 Now for the food—WOW. The chips were some of the best we’ve ever had: crispy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. The guacamole was truly next-level, featuring Maria’s special blend of onions, tomatoes, avocado, and unique seasonings. It was fresh and bursting with flavor. 🌟The real star of the meal was the soft tacos with marinated chopped steak—perfectly tender, seasoned to perfection, and served with fragrant rice and black beans garnished with lime wedges. Every bite was packed with rich, authentic flavor. Great value, quick service, and unforgettable food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Maria’s Mexican Restaurant is a must-experience delight. Five stars and two thumbs up—this will absolutely be a go-to stop whenever we return to South Lake Tahoe

Not even in Mexico or Texas

By Handerson99 |

I have eaten Mexican food in more restaurants than I can even remember. What I can remember is that I have never eaten better than I did at Maria's I have been there about 20 times in the last 3 years. I hope I can add another 12 or so this year. Without a doubt, THE BEST.

Good food

By RebeccaWElkhart |

My husband and I were looking for a decent meal while in the area for the evening and decided on Maria's. We were both happy with our food. I had the spinach enchiladas and he had the beef enchiladas. The service was efficient albeit not very friendly. We were confused by the host who was not in uniform and not wearing a name badge. Since he was in jeans and a t-shirt we didn't realize he was the host Overall a good visit.

Snow storm 12/2016

By Fireweed218 |

Delayed flight. Killing time( because the outlet mall was a screamin deal let down....). Nice bar, exceptional service and generous margarita's. No tap beers, but bottled beer served with icy cold glasses.

This is where the locals eat!

By CJ T |

If you are attending a convention or shopping in the Rosemont IL area and are wondering where the locals eat, this is it. Solid menu, good size portions, and reasonable prices. The black bean soup is good. It has a Chicago address, but it is walking distance from Donald E Stephens Convention Center and very close to the outlet mall.

Side trip for Mexican food

By John M |

We came to Chicago and brought the family while I also had business to do. Three quick and great things to say about Maria's : 1) great taste, 2) authentic 3) multi flavored margaritas. There's so much bland Mexican food in the US, so Maria's being fresh and highly flavorful was a nice change. The Mole sauce with tortillas and the black bean soup alone would make an outstanding meal. The mole sauce is that good. Add in the friendly authentic service and perfect margaritas and you've got yourself a gem tucked into a business park. We waited around 20 minutes on a Saturday night and it was well worth it. We will be back, maybe even on this trip !

Convenient to Rosemont Hotels

By Nancy D |

I had dinner with a friend who has lived in Chicago for many many years. She said Maria's has a long history and this is their first and surviving restaurant. I love that is is family owned! Big place with comfie booth seating. Perhaps it's because I live in California...but I found the food fair. The Carne Asada was recommended & the plate beautiful. The meat had a nice flavor but it was very chewy and not tender at all. I was not crazy for the flavor of my golden margarita. I didn't even finish it. It was strong, though. Good table chips. My friend liked her chili Relleno & I enjoyed my little taste. Service was a bit slow. I'm guessing our waiter had to work too many tables. Big complimentary parking lot...but tight parking. Be careful. Convenient to Rosemont hotels and convention area.

Good place to eat informally and watch sports on the TV.

By EdwardA044 |

Settled in with three companions to watch Monday night football at the bar and to eat. Food was good (although not the best Mexican I have had), it came fast. Service was great. People were there as singles and as small groups and everything was relaxed and convivial.

Great convenient Mexican Restaurant

By Paula W |

Great convenient Mexican Restaurant located very close to the Fashion Outlets. The service was very good, very large portions, nice selection, and excellent quesadillas.

Long queue but certainly worth the wait

By ianwyj |

Rosemont is where the convention centre is, but it's way closer to O'Hare Airport than it is to downtown Chicago. So any place that serves up good food around there is likely to get its fair share of business from convention goers. And so it is with Maria's. We got there a little late, and ended up waiting an hour for a table on a rather chilly evening. But it was all worth it in the end for the friendly service, warm atmosphere, and really tasty Mexican fare. We found portions fairly large, so had mains but no starters. I can't remember what my dinner pals had but my camaron a la diabla was spicy hot (it did come with a warning on the menu). I had it with rice and a mole-based (I think) soup. I wouldn't mind going again next time, but it's probably a good idea to make a reservation first.

Hidden Gem behind all the Rosemont hype

By Ingrid W |

Visited Maria's on a Wednesday evening in June after a family event. Despite the fact that it was close to 9:00pm, they accommodated our party. The restaurant is located about a few blocks from the Fashion Outlets of Chicago. The outdoor terrace is really quaint. There are bushes and trees surrounding it to hide you from the parking lot and surrounding industrial district. The portions were large and the food was very authentic.

Worst Attitudes Ever

By Brenda K |

We were told that we would be seated in 30-40 minutes and to go to the bar. We waited at the bar 10 minutes before anyone asked us for our drink order. Bartender was rude and brought 6 of us one small basket of chips. We asked for more and it took another 20 minutes to get another basket. 65 minutes later we were seated. Worst attitudes ever. Our server was the only good thing about this place.

Just Ok

By AA7364 |

My wife and I had an early flight, so we stayed in Rosemont the night before. Met up with some friends there and were recommended to try Maria's. First off, the parking is terrible at the restaurant itself. You may have to park in the parking garage and walk, but we were lucky and found the one open spot that 5 other people were also trying to find. The food was just ok. I was disappointed since quite a few reviews said this place was excellent. Maybe they were just having an off day? Portions were huge, so you sure won't go hungry here. I also had a frozen house margarita. I think they maybe put a splash of tequila in it.... not good. My friend told me you have to get the premium margarita if you want a good one. I will say that I will not return next time I'm in Rosemont. I've had much better food and drinks at other Mexican restaurants.

Carne Asada is so good

By Rid1972 |

Having a dinner on a Saturday night out with friends. Make sure to make a reservation or else it will be a wait. The queso fundido is delicious and served with great chips that are soft. The pina colada and sangria was good. The carne asada is outstanding. The meat has the right amount of seasoning, giving it the perfect flavor. Its served with rice, beans, pico and guacamole, which were all good......the only reason I did give this place full stars was the rude people I encountered on the phone while booking this reservation. Its takes so little to be polite over the phone and it leaves an impression when you are not. Its a shame because the food was so good Saturday night.

The best Mexican food I have ever eaten!

By klkb |

Maria's has seating both indoors and outdoors. It is located next to the outlet mall. The decor is Mexican and is very tasteful. The service is superb and the food was out of this world. Four of us ate dinner and everything we ate was outstanding. I regret that it is not located in our hometown!

HORRIBLE!!!

By nittyangel6 |

Right from the beginning our experience started off horrible. We came through the back, which is common, and went to the front towards the host. She was extremely rude and said we had to sit outside (in 90 degree) weather even though there were plenty of available tables in the restaruant. We requested a table again inside and she put us right next to the kitchen entrance door. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to even acknowledge us and when he did he took our order and we did not see him again until he delivered our check. Not once did he ask us how our food was, which was absolutely disgusting and made me sick afterwards but he seemed annoyed or attempted to ignore us when trying to get his attention. Will never go back. Warning to others!!! Possible food poisoning from chicken in the tacos.

Very good mexican food

By Grannyofthree |

Go to Rosemont often and never knew Marias was there. we love Mexican food and Marias didn't disappoint. Premium margarita was good and Bohemia beer. if the salsa is good, food is usually good and the salsa was good. Guacamole was excellent as was the queso with chorizo. Never had pork shank in a Mexican restaurant but it was really good. Black bean soup was really good too. Will definitely be back when in the area!!!

Excellent Mexican cuisine!

By Mandy007 |

We ate a late lunch at this restaurant near the Fashion Outlet mall. The menu was varied enough to suit different tastes and vegetarians. They quickly brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Ariana was our server and she was extremely friendly, helpful and fast. Food portions were very large. The chicken fajitas were especially tasty. The meals came with lettuce, rice, beans, guacamole - homemade, sour cream and a choice of soup or salad. We were full very quickly and ended up with enough leftovers for dinner. Price came to $100 for 3 people including 3 full dinners, alcoholic beverages tax and tips. Overall a lovely experience and a must for a quick tasty hearty lunch near the mall. Ask for Ariana for outstanding service.

Best Mexican Restaurant

By RaysTravels70 |

Very nice staff and WONDERFUL food with great prices. One of the best buffets. A true gem with a great location.

Best Mexican food!

By PBlake5241 |

A friend from down state came to have lunch with me. I picked Maria's and she was not disappointed at my choice. She picked the platter of various food (taco, burrito, etc.) and had the bean soup, which was excellent. Each meal comes with rice and refried beans. I had the chili rellanos, as they give you two of them. They come as cheese or meat and tortilla wraps flour or chip. I chose one cheese and one meat with two flour wraps. The salad with Italian dressing was very nice. All in all I chose an excellent meal. They also have fantastic Margaritas and other drinks. For the quality and amount of food you get the price is not bad at all.

Good food and atmosphere

By DNeshJ |

I was here on my last day in Chicago. Nachos were great and so was the desert - Maria's delight. Main was alright They did have a selection of beers. Service was alright.

Annual Team Visit

By Lisa M |

We found Maria's two years ago and it has been a yearly visit!! Love their margaritas!! I have tried the chimichangas, the nachos, and the steak quesadillas. All have been delicious!!

Does what it does well

By Alf13 |

Had lunch here and the prices seemed pretty good and it felt like an independent restaurant. Service was slick with a loyal following as it was quite busy for a Wednesday lunch. Food I would say was OK and I did enjoy the black bean soup and the chicken tacos were just OK. Service was slick and friendly and quite fast which is a must at lunchtime. All in all a good experience particularly for the money.

Nice service

By Sandra M |

The service, atmosphere and prices are excellent. There is a good variety of dishes and drinks which we enjoyed with a group of friends. The food is good but lacks some flavor, a little too bland for my taste but portions are good and the value is excellent.

More Tex than Mex

By minnesotans4 |

We were seated at a table in the back of a crowded restaurant, so crowded that the server bumped my chair every time she walked by. I ordered the appetizer steak quesadillas which came with sour cream and guacamole. There were quite a few chunks of steak and I would recommend it. My husband who loves Mexican food thought the enchiladas mole subpar. My son who has limited skills as a cook said he could have made better steak tacos. The enchiladas suizas were rather tasteless. Margaritas were nothing special. Would we return, certainly not.

Good food but way loud

By kagatlin |

We enjoyed the great food and prompt service, but don't go here for a quiet meal. Prices were average for the area.

Great recommendation!

By Wendy T |

Went for dinner with friends and very busy restaurant for a weeknight but well worth the wait (~30 mins). Should have made a reservation. Food was fabulous and the mariachi was very entertaining. Service was fabulous...mom and pop shop feeling even though it is a chain! Loved it!

Steak Fajitas and Margaritas

By Travis S |

The steak fajitas were very, very good. Margaritas (we just had the house marg) were also solidly good! I left very fat and happy, my girlfriend just left happy because she has more self control than I do and packed her leftovers. I indulged my gluttony on the spot, so good! The bar is under construction. We tried to go back the next day for more margaritas, but there was a 20+ minute wait and the bar was closed because of the remodel. Super sad about that.

Good!!!

By Tundraclown |

This place is hidden – you almost need to have someone show you where it is to find it. That said, it is a great Mexican place….a standard Mexican restaurant interior circa 1992 with booths and tables. The menu boasts your standard burritos, tacos, tostadas, chimis and such. The obligatory bowl of house made chips and salsa arrives shortly after you do. The food is pretty good – I have never had a bad experience here ever, and have been coming for years. The serve soup to start on main entrees – which I guess is good for overall value, but I am not really a soup person and think it is weird for a Mexican place. Overall though, the prices are very good value for money and the casual environment is good for lunch or dinner. There have been times where it appears they have some sort of multi-dish lunch buffet going on, but I have never tried it. A pretty good bet for Mexican though – albeit more tex-mex than authentic.

Simply Awful

By kiwi_Stories |

This place is to Mexican food what tripe is to rib-eye steak. Maria's can give their dishes Mexican names, but that doesn't make them Mexican, or even edible. The food was very bland, almost tasteless. My burrito LOOKED like a burrito, but was just a gigantic roll of beans, rice and meat that had somehow been rendered flavorless. Portions were large, but none of my table mates thought the food was good and most of our meals were left on the plate. We will never be back. .

Lunch before the airport

By tammycrowley |

Perfection. Always consistent. Margaritas also perfect. Any food here is amazing. Lunch dinner or snack. Anytime. Love love love this place.

Best Mexican food in Chicago area

By Kurt M |

Outstanding Mexican food , good service and super Margaritas. Have eaten here many times and will continue to go back.

Good bar scene.

By malabarfly |

This restaurant is very convenient if staying at the nearby Loews Hotel being only a few minutes’ walk, although easy to miss unless you know where it is as it is a little way up a nearby smaller street (therefore if a visitor staying at the hotel, ask directions). It is a family run restaurant with a bar to one side of the entrance and a restaurant the other, although you can eat at the bar or one of the booths if you prefer a bar scene rather than the calmer atmosphere of a restaurant . The bar is quite dimly lit, presumably for atmosphere (or possibly to mask any deficiencies of the cleaners or to enhance the appearance of the staff!). The bar was crowded on the two nights we visited, but I can’t speak for the restaurant as we ate in the bar. They do not serve draft beer, but there are plenty of bottled options. There is a good atmosphere in the bar and the service was friendly. Free nachos and salsa are given with drinks and the food was reasonably priced (Mexican dishes were under $13 while most others – steak, seafood etc. - less than $19). I am not that familiar with Mexican food to assess how good it is. My burrito was very large, but had too much starchy outside which made it stodgy so I left over half of it, but my wife enjoyed her quesadillas and chicken salad. Overall we enjoyed it for the bar atmosphere rather than the food, so I can’t really rate it more than average overall.

Great Mexican!

By Michele R |

Great mexican food, yummy margaritas, friendly service. Not a long wait and wasn't too far of a walk from the hotel we were staying at.

Never Expected the Excellent Dining Experience

By Larry P |

Parking was not easy---kind of a weird up and down terrain and crowded. The entrance to Maria's was very understated---narrow doorway---"come-on folks, let's squeeze in". But, you walk in and lo and behold, the place is spacious and inviting, smells delicious and the Spanish atmosphere makes you smile. The shrimp entree' I had was succulent. Our party of 7 went silent as they concentrated on enjoying every morsel. This food is as good as any meal I have ever had at the best resorts in Cancuun/ Port De Vallerta. Our server was the best. Finally the strolling Mexican guitaristas knew just how to celebrate the birthday of one of our guests. dr. larry j. powitz

Mexican food in Illinois?

By Gregory J |

After living in Arizona for the past seven years we have become discerning regarding Mexican food. Maria's did not disappoint. I ordered the Enchiladas Suisas and the entree was too much to finish. The service by waiter Gil was efficient and attentive. This restaurant is tucked back in an industrial district near a taxi service center. Once inside however you will enjoy the ambience. It is not a quiet place, but a good place for good Mexican.

Over priced, Bland food. Not worth our time and money.

By Bharat Sheth |

This restaurant was a big disappointment for us. Basically the food is not at all that good. It is taste less, does not satisfy your palate as an authentic Mexican food would. On top of that it is over priced and not worth it.

Good food with views of 747 bellies

By Vagabundo2007 |

It didn't start off massively well. We were seated in what appeared to be a big conservatory which was not a problem. Lots of views of the underside of planes which was a bit of a novelty. They are not too loud to spoil your dinner either. We then got forgotten about for quite a while, someone then came over to take our order and promptly realised we had not been given a menu nor had anyone asked what we wanted to drink. All quickly resolved so will let them off. Other than the little blip at the start it was great! Starters were really quite big. Extremely tasty though! When the mains arrived we realised that we had bitten off more than we can chew so to speak. Huge! I know portions in the US tend to be big but we weren't ready for this. Maybe wouldn't have a starter next time. It was all so tasty though,

Marvelous Service!

By mrt1955 |

We went in and wanted some vegetarian options. Our server helped us make a new menu item that was ABSOLUTELY great! Fabulous food and extraordinary service.

Another Mexican fare

By John W |

We tried maria's because of a bus stop advertisement stating it was 2 blks south of our location. It was actually appox a mile (12+ blocks) from our location. The food was ave mexican fare. Nothing special from other mexican restaurants.

An underwhelming experience

By Emiade |

We had a taste for Mexican food so we tried Maria's; it was close to the Rosemont mall. We ordered our entrees because we were hungry. The complimentary chips and salsa were fine. I ordered ground beef tacos and my friend ordered the chicken quesadilla. The food arrived fast and hot. The tacos were not the best tasting, a bit soggy. The side rice was blah. Portions were big but unnecessary because the food wasn't that great. The chicken quesadilla was average and came with sour cream and guacamole. I kept stealing the sour cream and guacamole to put on top of my tacos to make them a bit more appealing. We tried dessert of little fried doughnuts with some honey drizzled on top. We enjoyed that.

Really Good

By Steve D |

I came to Maria's by chance. I was very pleased that I did. My lunch was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My barometer for Mexican restaurants are the chips/salsa and the mole. The chips are complimentary and served warm. They are corn with a medium body and crunch with good corn flavor. The salsa is smooth with fresh herbs and green onions. Flavor is good and mild to medium spicy. The mole was very good. Photo submitted of Enchiladas de Mole. I had the chicken. Corn tortillas wrapped around chunks of chicken and smothered in mole sauce topped with sour cream dominated the plate. Rice and refried beans completed the meal. The mole was nutty and mildly spicy with a nice ground chile flavor. A hint of cocoa was present but no coffee. I would definitely recommend this entree. Decor is nicely appointed and typical for an American Mexican restaurant. Music was a bit loud (I tend to like this lower than most) and was like a Sirius Hits 1 channel. Curious.

Simple, plain. Not bad not good

By busyprof |

This is a suburban Mexican restaurant where you won't pay too much, the service is good, and the food is unspectacular. The menu is not huge and not particularly well chosen. Vegetarian options are surprisingly few for a Mexican restaurant. The specials weren't very special. Don't come here looking for anything imaginitive. That said the food was friendly, not too salty or greasy. I didn't look at the wine list but I expect it would be ordinary to poor.

Great food and stmosphere

By Tasty29 |

Excellent drinks and atmosphere. Service is always consistant. Reliable and good place! Great ceruvhe on the weekends!

Ok Mexican

By btoad |

Went for dinner. Staying at hotel in area. Food was ok. Not great. Service was ok. Was hoping it would be better.

My wife loves it.

By Dennis R |

It is a popular Mexican Restaurant, but I mostly go because my wife likes it. I think she prefers the Margaritas over the food. Has a very good black bean soap.

Hard to beat mexican food

By 601jim |

Wonderful specials quiet a suprise wondering singers when you go here it just fells right from the start

Very tasty mexican food!

By izaislandgirl |

Best fajitas ever! I've heard they are famous for their margaritas too, but I didn't get the chance to try them on this visit...but I definitely will the next time I go! Truly a little known, hidden gem!

Great evening

By Beth B |

We had a great dinner, meeting our nephew and his wife. It was quiet enough so we could have a nice visit. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all great.

they completely ignored us

By robijntje |

We went to get a meal here but were completely ignored us. We went to the Brauhaus across the street where we got served friendly

Not the same food.

By LN02013 |

Have eaten at Maria's many times but after not basing there for a year, definitely noticed a decline in the food. First of all, the guacamole is now market price and today's price was $12.75. We skipped it on principle alone. The price was outrageous. We ended up ordering the queso fondito as the appetizer and all it is now was a can of Rotel with cheese whiz. No longer the stringy white Mexican cheese. Entrees we just ok. Maria's is going downhill and not sure if we will be going back.

Ignore poor reviews

By Lisa W |

Really great service and food was delicious. Seated as quickly as possible on a really busy night and no reservation. Nachos were warm and tasty and the chicken and noodle soup which was free with the main meal was also delicious. The enchiladas were sooo tasty and absolutely full of chicken. Would definitely recommend.

How do you solve a problem like Maria's?

By Red4life270 |

On a recent trip to Chicago, our family dined at Maria's. We arrived just before 3 pm but by the time we were ready to order, we were told that the kitchen had switched over from the Lunch Menu to the Dinner Menu; this was disappointing as we were not ready for the larger and more expensive dinner meals. We started with a Queso Fundido ($9.25); a spicy, cheesy dip with fresh chips. The serving was adequate for our party of four. My wife & I ordered the appetizer size of the Quesada that contained chicken ($10.00). Our son & his girl friend split an order of chicken fajitas ($16.95). A margarita weighed in a $8.00 - my wife thought it was a little lite on spirits. The food was served hot and ready; service was good through out our visit. Not sure I would return.

Delicious & Super Friendly!

By AlisaDan |

Wonderful staff, delicious and authentic food and delightful environment! A fantastic option for a couple, or friends or even group! Convenient to Rosemont and a great alternative to the usual. Feels like family! Great attention and yet not loud! Open for lunch and dinner! Ideal for prior to concert at Allstate; theater at Rosemont; or before/after shopping at Fashion Outlet Mall!

Whole Red Snapper must try!

By prattbits |

Been there for dinner. I ordered the Whole Red Snapper and it was good. You also have different varieties of margaritas and mojitos to choose from. Overall, the food was good but the service is okay. They have regular Mexican food.

Good service and food

By Paulita C |

Came for last minute dinner plans. Better than expected being Mexican myself my expectations for Mexican food is high but this Maria's did not disappoint.

Decent food

By travelwise333 |

Mild Mexican food. Had spinach enchiladas. Also ordered side of guacamole. Fast service. Nice seating area.

Good food, busy place ... can be a bit noisy

By AlleyGator2142 |

Had dinner one night during my last visit to Chicago as its just behind the hotel. The place was humming when I walked in, but it was a Friday night. Lots of big parties, mostly family but also some office folks. Food was good and well presented, and portions were quite large. Service was quick and the wait staff was very attentive. The place does tend to get quite noisy though, so take that into consideration if you are looking for a little peace and quite with your meal. All in all, a good meal, but not exceptional, and given the choice I wouldn't repeat the place. But that's more on me than the restaurant.

Business Dinner at Maria's Didn't Disappoint..

By Peppppy |

Just returned from a business trip to Chicago and several in the group of 10 had favorable things to say about Maria's so we opted to have dinner here. Our reservation was met, service was prompt and consistent, even with such a large group and we treated excellent. Drink orders were taken and checked on regularly, along with filling several appetizer orders and making it easy for all of us to share. Diverse food options ordered across the table and no one complained, except for how big the portions sizes were, which isn't a bad thing. Food was presented nicely, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and above expectations, which were high to begin with. No disappointments here at all - loved it and would definitely go back. Prices are very reasonable and they didn't blink in splitting up checks for our business needs! Great Job Maria's.

Unfortunately, not good

By UltraRMS |

I was in Rosemont for business, and decided to go for Mexican food for dinner, considering that this restaurant was relatively close to the hotel. Reviews were also positive. I was very disappointed with the food. The plates are big - as usual - but the food looked and definitely tasted as reheated: it didn't taste as freshly cooked. The rice was dry and the enchiladas tasted like if cooked the day before and reheated before serving. They were not properly stuffed, the sauce had more salt than taste. Maybe I caught the cook on a bad day, but it was really frustrating. Any "On the Border" shop would be way better, I believe.

Horrible Margaritas

By Bullitt |

I’m sorry I did not like the food or the Margarita’s at this place. Maybe it was the bartender but on Friday April 19th around 2pm whoever was making drinks did a bad job. The Margaritas were way to sugary. To the point I couldn’t drink mine and my friend didn’t drink hers. The food was also not good at all. The crabmeat quesadilla were missing the crabmeat and the veggie burrito with egg etc was not good either. I’m sorry I will not be going back. The staff was friendly and our waitress was very accommodating.

Nice Mexican restaurant

By plm54 |

One of my colleagues loves this place and we go when our group meets at the Loew's Hotel around the corner (formerly the Intercontinental). It is always packed on Fridays. The food is standard Mexian with the usual American influences. The guacamole is always fresh and flavorful. The portions are enormous. There is not too much adventurous about the cuisine but then this restaurant is about the familiar: tacos, burritos, fajitas etc.

It's good but not great!

By Kristen K |

The food and drinks are good. However, I think a little over priced. Our server was great and very attentive.

Birthday dinner

By Margaret S |

Great restaurant!! Delicious food and friendly and professional staff!! Portions are big and the prices are good

Not what I expected

By Jonathas Manoel C |

I have to be honest here: the service was great and the margaritas were great, however the food didn't taste like much. I feel like the bad tomato sauce ruined everything. I'm was inside my burrito and also on my side dish. So it all tastes the same and boring.

Authentic mexican food

By kcjohnston |

I'm from California and a bit of a snob when it comes to Mexican food but this was great. I test by the chile relleno. I did one conventional cheese and one beef. They were both fantastic! I would go there again.

Amazing food and drinks!

By Brenda S |

I was extremely surprised by the quality of the food at Maria's. My colleague brought me here and it does not look so special on the outside. But OH MY, what good food they have! The fajitas were divine and the margaritas were excellent. I'll make a point to return here!

Great Food

By kim d |

Good classic dishes can get very crowded @ the bar would benefit with additional servers. Patio is well shaded from weather. Challenging parking situation.

Great food and service

By lid535535 |

We stopped here on the recommendation of a local we met in a line after a convention. They were right! We beat the crowd, they showed up after we got seated. The portions are huge, the service was 5 star and she he food was amazing and fresh! I highly recommend it to anyone and I am glad it was recommended to us!

Great atmosphere, great food

By Abenture |

Still going strong after over 30 years. Look is updated, service very good, food and drinks par excellence. Haven’t been to this spot in a long time. We always seem to end up at the Harlem Avenue location. No matter where you go, Maria’s recipes are great.

Stopped in after a concert at the Rosemont Theater. Don't fall into this trap. Just, don't. $22 for the worst Mexican entree I've *ever* had. Oh, but you get a house salad included drowned in your favorite dressing. $2.50 for pico de gallo was mostly chopped onion. If the "premium" margarita was hand built, it was the worst I've ever had. Tasted like mix from the gun. Music was hip hop. Take your money to Taco Bell - you'll be better off.

Great Margaritas & Queso!

By Julie S |

A real authentic and good Mexican food place in Chicago! I'm from the south and it's hard to find good Mexican food in the north! I was so stuffed from the Queso and free chips, I was too stuffed to enjoy the flautas! I still ate half though.

Has potential but

place was overwhelmed during a Friday night. Hockey game was on and the place was packed. Maria's simply could not keep up with the pacing and the food I received was sadly subpar.

Authentic Mexican Dishes

By SheilasTrvl |

The food, service and atmosphere were great. I had a Taco Salad that was huge. Maria's is great for small and not so small party sizes.

Amazing Tortilla Chips and Good Service

By YoungTraveler13 |

This place was awesome. I don't know what they put in their tortilla chips but they are phenomenal. The margaritas were ok not the best I've had. The enchiladas were some of the best I've had though and had great big green chiles in them. The bartender was swamped but still very good.

Nothing wrong with the food, just not blown away by it

By Steven4Z |

I'm not hugely familiar with Mexican food, coming from the UK we probably don't see anything close to authentic. The food here was good, but I wasn't blown away by it. The service was quick, and friendly. I did find it a little dimly lit in the restaurant. I don't mind this too much, but a little more light wouldn't have gone amiss - or maybe I'm just getting old. I would go back again, maybe to see if I just picked badly off the menu, perhaps I should ask for their recommendations next time.

Our World Underwater dinner

By Charlie R |

Great food , service was very good. The food will be hot and delicious. The atmosphere is great with booths and table setting and a small room of to the side for small groups. The menu offers much more than just tacos and burritos, at a very good price.

Large Portions

By GKBrash |

Went out to Maria’s for a business dinner with a total of 8 people. It was a week night and we were able to be seated outside immediately. A word of caution. They are currently doing some interior renovations so not all of the inside seating is available. I am not sure when the renovations are scheduled to be completed. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. They were constantly refilling or water and replenishing our chips. The menu is what you would expect to find at your usual Mexican restaurant. We started with 2 orders of guacamole which were good sized, but more creamy and not very chunky. Still it was very good. For my entree I had the enchiladas verdes. There were three with the order and I selected one beef, one chicken and one cheese. It is then topped with the green tomatillo sauce and melted chihuahua cheese. It also came with sour cream, rice and beans. I asked our server if they could make the order a bit more “picante” and she said yes. When the entree arrived it had additional roasted jalapeños slices added to the top of the enchiladas. They did add a bit of more heat to the order. There was so much that I could not finish what was on my plate. Maria’s has a complete bar and of course they serve margaritas. They do have a house version as well as “premium” versions with higher grade tequila. If you are out in the O’Hare area this is not a bad place to go of Mexican food.

Delicious Mexican cusine

By Deborah R |

We have been here several times for dinner. Food is always good and fresh and service is wonderful. There hasn't been anything on the menu that I have tried that I didn't like ! The only downside is parking...seems like the lot fills up fast. I think a lot of people enjoy the bar there because it always seems pretty busy in there too !

Yummy!

By lindseeec81 |

Not your typical Mexican Restaurant! The food and service was amazing! I highly recommend the fajitas! You will not be disappointed.

Horrible waiter

By janetsiwek79 |

My sisters and came to Maria's for dinner on 03/05. We were there around 3 and the wait was very short. Once we sat down the nightmare started. Our waiter, an older man, was rude from the start. He took my sisters orders. There was a pause so I proceeded to speak. He rudely said "I am not done with her. Wait your turn." I though he was kidding so I smiled. He DID NOT. The whole time he had an attitude and when he would come back to check on our table. He would never acknowledged me. At the end of the meal(which could not end soon enough) we asked for boxes. He handed my sisters theirs and stopped. At that point I was fed up. I grabbed the box myself. He then grabbed it back, took my plate and stored it. In a manner as if to show me he was in charge. I am 36 yrs old and have never come across such a rude waiter in my life. I regret not talking to a manager but I did not want to make my sisters more uncomfortable. I am not high maintenance but when I go out to eat I expect to be treated if not great at least with respect. I will never ever return. God forbid I get that miserable person as my waiter again. I hope management reads this. I hope he reads this. Sir, if you hate your job. Find a new one or retire!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CHICKEN WAS RAW

By Run4medals |

Have been going to Maria's on Harlem for the last 20 years. Second time at the Rosemont location and second time worst service. Nency was our server and I told her that I there was raw chicken in my tacos. She took the plate back and brought me ground beef tacos that were soaked in oil. I told her the meal was awful and she took the plate away but never told anyone. We had to pay for our meal. I told the Host and he was just as rude and told me I should have told him before we paid. Our server should have let the Manager know. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. If you do decide to eat here, please check your food carefully to make sure your food is cooked and not raw.

As always excellant food!

By Sam2cats |

Went to Maria's for lunch yesterday and as always the food was delicious.I had carne asada that was tender & tasty. The golden margaritas were divine ! I even had a chance to meet Maria and I complemented her on the exceptional consistency of the food and margaritas. We brought friends and they were blown away by the food.In fact they told us they want to come back next week as well! You can't get better than that !!!

Mediocre Mexican food

By CAtraveler56 |

Every time I attended a convention in Rosemont I eat here and every time I ask myself why I bother. The salsa is blah and the food while served piping hot is really average at best. If you every eaten at a decent Mexican restaurant you'll be very disappointed in this restaurant. Try another Mexican restaurant in the area, it can't be any worse than this place.

Mexican Restaurant Near Ohare

By Raphael L |

We enjoyed well poured tequila cocktails, while starting with excellent guacamole and chips. For entrees we had chills renos and chicken enchiladas, coupled with excellent black bean soup. While the selections and service from Jesus were good, it was overshadowed by the large family gatherings with children and excessive noise. I would give it another shot, but suggest you try it during the week. The other plus is that they do take reservations, albeit we did have to wait .

Good Birthday Vibes, ¡Thanks to Sergio!

By LuViPortland |

Sergio treated us well. We took our time, and everyone enjoyed the company and the atmosphere. Sergio helped us arrange a small celebration for one in our party, and he was an excellent host.

Excellent Mexican Experience

By Linda S |

Food was fantastic. Full menu with some unique things. Sangria was perfect. Not sweet but fruit filled. Large portions. Fun atmosphere. Very busy on a Friday night but wait was not very long.Large bar area.

Not returning

By Michael B |

I don't often say just stay away but this place is located in a hot spot and we went here before a jazz show at Loews. It was way too crowded making it difficult to navigate between table. The service was slow to get our food, but worse yet, there was no follow up to see if all was okay, which is was not. The food was, at best, average Mex fare but overpriced because of the location. Our next visit will be to a off the beaten path taco joint which suits us just fine. I will not return to the restaurant.

Great service and food

By Timothy O |

I was here to celebrate a birthday and the staff was fantastic. The food was very nicely prepared. Drinks were good too

Excellent service and food

By m H |

We went back to Chicago to visit family and met a large group of friends at Maria's. What a delight! We had so much fun, the staff were incredibly accommodating and the food was outstanding! They brought us complimentary shots of a new tequila and let us keep the little shot glasses. The portions of food were huge and so yummy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago. On a side note, I don't know if they do delivery or have a late night menu. I do know that I will come here again.

Nice tacos and good margaritas 🍹

By Honken1980 |

I think this place offered good value for money. We had very nice drinks and different type of Mexican food. We got very much what we expected. I can defenitly go here again!

Good food and great drinks and service

By skywaker9 |

Maria's food is nothing special but the good news is everything else about it is. The margaritas are good and the service is great. I'd go again if I were in the area.

Consistent excellant Mexican food!!!!

By Sam2cats |

We have been coming to Maria's for the past 15 years and it has never failed to provide a wonderful dining experience. They serve the best golden margaritas in the city! The food has been dead on consistent since our first visit. This is the only restaurant in Chicago that we can say that about. The atmosphere is delightful with beautiful Mexican artwork decorating the walls. We visit at least twice a month to get our"Maria's fix" !!!

Good Mexican Food

By BigdogAZ2014 |

I have eaten at Maria's several times while working in Chicago. The food is good, but service is a little slow.

Terrrific food! Wonderful margaritas! Server was exceptional! Her name was Ariana! Will definately come back!!! Great ambience !!!

VERY Slow

By ChiefPockets |

We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday and were told there was a 30-45 minute wait, so we hung at the bar for a while. The drinks were good and bar service was fast. I liked the chips and salsa well enough, but others in the group didn't care for it, comparing it to tomato paste. After repeatedly checking with the hostess we were finally seated after an hour and a half. We immediately put in an appetizer order (the quickest things they made, per our server), and while we waited for that our server was as quick as the bar staff - bringing drinks, water, plates, plus more chips and salsa within minutes. However, after forty minutes we still didn't have actual food. At this point we were 80 minutes past the advertised wait and nearly late for evening plans. We left cash on the table and left without even getting our food.

Great start to our Vacation!

By teresaj881 |

Excellent food and service despite how busy they were! Every wait staff had a smile on their faces and made sure everything was prompt! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you don’t mind waiting for a while. Lovely atmosphere, reasonably priced! We are from Wisconsin, but would definitely do the drive to come here again!

Good food, good prices

By Robert N |

We were staying at a hotel right next to the restaurant, but anyone doing business trips in Rosemont would be able to find it easily. We were seated right away as we entered. The waiter was very friendly. Food was priced fairly especially with how much you get. Quality was excellent. We ate here for late lunch/early dinner. Crowded for being away from the city. We barely ate half the food as there was such a good portion. Building itself was old and seats were torn where we were at.

Real mexican food

By Dawn D |

True, good Mexican food. Huge portions. I ordered an appetizer - nachos and a main course - steak buritto. Unfortunately, the nachos were so large that half the main course I took to go. They have a very good margarita - definitely need to try it.

VERY BAD !!!

By Colonel_Klink_10 |

Came here for a business lunch. Ordered a couple soft drinks to start. The pop had a very bad taste & not mixed properly with carbonation & syrup. Either they had horrible water or it was from the ice machine being cleaned but the water was disgusting as well .My guest also commented how bad it tasted. I ordered the 2 beef taco lunch special. My guest had the enchilada lunch special. My meat had some tough pieces but seemed okay as my guests did. It was later in the day my stomach was churning and I asked my guest if he felt okay & he also stated he was not feeling well. Been sick for 2 days now. First & last time I ever patronize this restaurant.

Good Mexican Food with Attentive Help

By JJTrouble |

We were staying at the Loews just around the corner so this place was an easy walk for us. When we walked in, the place looked extremely dark, but our eyes quickly adapted and we could see that the place was packed. Still, we only waited ten minutes for a table, and the food was quite good. They never let our chips and salsa run too low, and the entrees were hot and well prepared. I had the enchilada plate with mole sauce, which I recommend. Drinks were expensive (I paid $8.50 for a sangria that was mostly ice in a wine glass) but the food was reasonably priced. Clearly this place is a local favorite because we saw three birthdays celebrated at different tables next to us, but don't expect them all to sing Happy Birthday to you in the same key!

Hidden Mexican Gem Among A Crowd of Rosemont Steak Houses

By Larry W |

Great service, friendly staff, good food and a super ambiance....what's not to like. Left a notebook behind after dinner, but the wait staff found it and had it waiting for me when I dropped by the next day.

Not a Favorite

By Afocus1 |

Took a chance on what looked like a nice Mexican restaurant. Well that meant we took a chance on getting Covid. Not one person on staff including hosts, servers, etc wore a mask. Some patrons did. When we asked our server why she wasn't wearing one, she said it was optional and the management is not requiring masks. We had to point out that masks are mandatory for restaurants, bars, etc in both Chicago and Cook County. We asked to see the manger but that never happened. So if they don't care about the safety of customers, then we don't care about adding to their bottom line. Food was less than mediocre, not much flavor. When we requested hot sauce, the choices were tabasco or habenero. Flautus were huge which was nice and dripping in oil which was not.

Best in an area that teems with Mexican restaurants

By Mike M |

The home-made mole poblano and chiles rellenos are to die for. Seating outside is best in good weather. There is a good bar with margaritas and good Mexican beer. Chips with a very tasty and spicy salsa are complimentary. Clean, crisp service and friendly locals help the atmosphere sparkle.

Awesome food and atmosphere

By Nick J |

The food here was so good! This place was kind of a hole-in-the-wall so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the food really blew me away. The atmosphere in here is really good too.

Well Hidden Jewel Near Rosemont

By Michael K |

Maria's is an affordable "white linen" Mexican restaurant just around the corner from the Rosemont Theatre and Rosemont Convention Center. Suitable for either date night or parties, most entrees are under $20.00. The tasty Margaritas may seem expensive, but they are large and strong, so you may only require one. The waitstaff is patient and polite, not pesty or pushy. Our waiter Carlos answered all our questions and was very professional. Parking was both free and adequate, since they share with nearby offices after 5pm. This would be a welcome refresher after a long day of shopping or conventions, but it is also an ideal place for a pre or post-theatre meal. First floor handicapped accessible.

My My Maria

By KevinL41872 |

Have been wanting to go to Maria's for months now and finally got the chance. Went for dinner with some coworkers who know the family. We waited about 15 minutes on a Wednesday night. Was quickly approached by our server, who was delightful. Chips and salsa. Then the main course was delivered hot and fast. The food was tasty and plentiful. We people watched for a while, finished our drinks, and left. Good Mexican, I will return.

Another Winning Experience

By Shelly P |

I've been to both Maria's locations several times and have yet to have a bad experience. The food is consistently good. We went early, 5pm on a Sunday because we know how busy this place can be. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Everyone ordered something different; steak fajitas, shrimp fajitas, enchiladas, skirt steak and some other type of chicken entree. Not one complaint with our bunch. Portions were plentiful and everything arrived hot. Salad and soup starters were also very good. The only negative thing that I noticed for the first time was the choice of music playing. I felt like I was listening to the radio. I would have preferred a more traditional music selection or none at all as it was also a little loud.

Great Mexican, family place

By Christine Garrett |

By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! Great Margaritas and authentic cuisine. Happy hour specials during the week. Great for friends and dates!

Delicious

By Nancy D |

I've now eaten here several times. It's a fun and lively place with very good Mexican food. I was here for a private group get together this week and the appetizer platters were wonderful. They also have a large parking lot. It is located near Stephens Convention Center and major hotels by the convention center. From there it is walking distance. Recommended.

Dessert

By Steve P |

I was very pleased with the authentic Mexican food, but as a lover of custards and flan, I had the best flan ever served in a restaurant. It is admittedly equal to the superior efforts from my own kitchen. This is the very first time I can say that about a restaurant dessert. Brilliant!

Average

By Sam |

Waitress was nice, along with attentive staff. Ordered shrimp ceviche (Friday & weekend only) it was a little chewy. Chicken/steak combo fajitas was good. The Shrimp fajitas was succulent and delicious. Make reservation if go.

Good food and service

By taykaz |

Stopped at Maria's before heading to a concert at the All State Arena, it's fairly close. Our service was good, even though they were fairly busy. The food was good as well. I had a margarita and their enchiladas. The portions are large. We sat out on their patio which is nice, but they are close to the airport so it can get pretty noisy. I'd eat there again if I'm ever in the area.

meh

By Sgaffney34 |

Given the wait on the night we went we thought it was going to be something special. But it turned out to be, at best, average food and service. The food was ok for the price point but nothing that you would get excited about. The musicians singing Happy Birthday or offering to play was a little bit on the cheesy side. The only benefit was its proximity to the hotel we were staying at.

Great service

By Donald D |

So glad we went during the week. It was very busy but well worth the wait. Dinner was beautiful tasty and very well plated. Portions were good. Food was fast hot and in point.

Delicious food!

By lorriedee |

We are from Texas and appreciate good Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious chicken fajitas and chicken flautas. Generous dinner servings. Great service. Next to where we stayed at the Intercontinental. Nice updated decor and comfortable booth seating. Only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the base from the bar music was too loud and permeated the other seating areas. Not enough to keep us from coming back though because the food is delicious.

Your average Tex Mex

By MSWCONSULT |

Landed at O'Hare and was ready for a margarita. After checking in at the Residence Inn we decided on Maria's. The place is located on a side street near the outlet mall. We sat outside and were quickly greeted. Nothing bad to say but nothing really stood out. The salsa was bland and very tomato sauce flavored. The food was good and so was the drink. On a funny note, when you request hot sauce normally you get salsa verde or a "tabasco" relative. Here you get warm tomato sauce. Overall I would go three and a half stars.

food was good

By Trek91385 |

Service and food were great. The atmosphere and music were very good. Able to hold a conversation with the table.

Food is ok

By Run4medals |

Went there for dinner on Sunday. Our meal said it came with soup or salad but our server did not offer us either one. He spent most of his time talking with the other waitstaff. The food was ok. The chips tasted like they were old and the salsa was so-so. It's very dark in there and the parking lot is a mess. It's a bit pricey. $17 for three tacos.

Be patient: Food is worth the wait

By travelpr0123 |

While our young waitress was friendly and funny (in a delightful way) the food and drinks take forever to materialize. In this instant -on a regular weekday no less- it was a one hour wait for the food. But it's worth it, we enjoyed our fajitas, guacamole and an assortment of mini-chimis, actually not mini at all. This is a popular, crowded place, it's clear why.

Go to Taco Bell

By Wayne J |

Ordered beef tacos to go. They were made with a lot of green peppers, lettuce, potatoes, and a half a teaspoon of meat. Ended up throwing away. Paid sixteen dollars for them - what a waiste. I've had better at Taco Bell !!!

Best Mexican around

By HeadsUp4u |

This is a little bit of a drive for me but so worth it. It is by far my favorite Mexican place around. The margaritas are delicious. I have also had their red sangria which was pretty good. Every time I go I get the fundido chihuahua (a taco shell with melted cheese in the middle) it is to die for if you are a cheese person like me. I normally get the ay chihuahua steak dish or a combo of shrimp and steak fajitas. Food is consistently good every time. Staff is attentive and friendly for the most part.

Was hesitant, but then happy

By bradner3 |

Maria's was recommended by a friend who I trust when it comes to Mexican restaurants. So despite some less than stellar reviews on many sites, and even more disturbing, what seemed to be very rude responses from the restaurant (I couldn't tell if the responses were real or jokes - they were that rude), we went to Maria's for an after graduation dinner. We arrived early as the graduation ended early. They happily seated us. We were waited on promptly. Unfortunately, one person was meeting us for dinner and they were in route, set to arrive at the originally scheduled time (1.5 hours after we arrived!). We explained this to our waiter, ordered some drinks and appetizers and had a fine time talking and laughing. No problem! The chips and salsa were great. Everyone loved the salsa - they couldn't keep it coming fast enough. We ordered what equated to the appetizer sampler and it was very good - it had taquitos, nachos, a tamale...some other things on it that I do not recall. By the way, the ultimate margarita is not joke either. When our final party arrived, we ordered dinner. Everyone was happy with their meal. There was one mix up with a special order which they fixed right away. I am not real adventurous when it comes to Mexican food so I usually stick to Carne Asada which was very good and on par with anything I get from other places. The waiter was attentive and funny. The restaurant did fill up very quickly and with some large parties. I did notice one booth had to flag someone over to take their order, but only once. That was the only service issue I noticed. Overall, a nice experience and meal, especially since, reading the reviews, I was expecting something awful. Maybe go and try it for yourself.

What’s All The Hype?!

By roadtrippersX3 |

What a disappointment after hearing great things about Maria’s for years! Ordered the steak taco dinner.....bland, tasteless.fatty😩. Did LOVE the Raspberry Margaritas tho. That was about it. Service was pretty much non existent - our waiter never came by after we got our food to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. We were constantly flagging down the busboys or other waiters. Won’t be returning. There are plenty of neighborhood taco places that are way better....and I can make a margarita at home.

convenient but low quality food

By tomaqua |

Easy walk from the Lowes hotel but not much else going for it. Very noisy environment with several televisions blasting and loud conversations. Good salsa but chips tasteless. I found the other food to be bland even when spicy the taste was missing, ingredients did not seem fresh, and texture was unappealing.

The seafood stew and spirits

By Krista M |

A bunch of us went to Maria's Friday night. We sat at the bar with the best bartender ever. She has been there for as long as we have been going, but I never have written a review. Well now I am...long over due. She is excellent, you won't wait for your drink. She is on it!! Super friendly and sweet. She advised me to try the special seafood stew. It was amazing, outstanding!! The best I ever ate! Run don't walk!! It's that good!! And to top it off. An on the house shot of RumChata and fireball!!! Delish!

NOT BAD, NOT GREAT

By lmjim |

Maria's was not bad but not great. Not likely to visit again if in the Rosemont area. As a Los Angeles native, I know decent Mexican food, Maria's was just o.k.

Great food! Hard to park on a busy night.

Mexican restaurant close to Loew's

By Michael M |

We were surprised to find Maria's practically full at around 7PM. They had a few tables available but we decided to wait for a booth and wait at the bar. Surprise ! The bar was full too with no more stools available so we decided to simply wait. After about 10 minutes they had a booth ready for us. Chips & salsa were fresh and the waiter was prompt. Our main meals were served hot and well prepared and the margaritas were colorful but lacked a kick. Overall, it was okey if you don't want to spend a fortune in other close by eateries.

Visiting Rosemont!

By marianne g |

We decided to eat here because it was close to our hotel at the Hyatt Regency by O'Hare in Rosemont, IL. We love mexican food and was excited to eat here! After getting our food we started to eat it and realized it lacked the authentic mexican flavor we have come to love when eating out! My husband had steak meat in his combo platter and it lacked flavor. It tasted like plain steak, not mexican flavor at all! I had my traditional chimachonga and it lacked mexican spice flavor too! We would not recommend this mexican resturant in Rosemont and will not be visiting there again! Very disappointed!

Just short of 5 stars

I popped in for a quick business lunch. The food was very good. The price was very reasonable. The staff was friendly, fast and helpful. The decor was very nice, a cut above other area Mexican restaurants. It's close to the casino's.

Decent

Wife said the margaritas were good. Packed like a can of sardines on a Saturday night, kinda felt like everyone was sitting together. Food was good but nothing mind blowing. Salsa with the chips tasted and looked like tomato sauce with Tabasco.

Excellent food and drink

We were staying at the Loews Hotel and hungry. A hotel employee suggested Maria’s and it was an easy walk so we decided to try it out. We were seated immediately without reservations, thankfully we were there early on a Friday. Our server came quickly with menus and helpful suggestions. The chips and salsa were delicious as was the guacamole which was a large portion and reasonably priced. I had the poma margarita and it was also delicious. My friend had the enchilada and I had grilled chicken and we both loved our food. I eat in a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants and I was impressed with Maria’s!

Best Mex in Chicago area

By 409JohnnyO |

There is an unbelievable Mexican restaurant, family restaurant in the shadow of the Rosemont Convention Center hotels. You need to look for it but it is worth the journey. Buy but very friendly staff, fast service, and GREAT food. The house margarita pitcher is MUCH better than most house pitchers, and the food is truly outstanding. The Fundido and guacamole (two different) appetizers were fresh and good size. The portions are substantial and delicious. I had the enchilada trio with the green tomatillo sauce. Pretty spicy yet still full of flavor. Great for groups or even business meetings because of the atmosphere.

Food definitely has gone down hill

By ChgoGal |

I went to Maria's-Rosemont 2 yrs. ago and the food was excellent. Went there tonight and the food was not good. I had chicken enchiladas and the chicken was very dry and tasteless. My date ordered a chicken dinner and they brought him the wrong one, also lacking in flavor. The only good thing at the restaurant was the Margaritas.

Must Eat Here

One of the best places for Mexican food and the Margaritas are out of this world Make reservations or you maybe waiting for a little while

The Pictures do not to it Justice

By Naomi K |

Wonderful, wonderful people and service. Mary is an outstanding bartender and very helpful. Even if we have a 2 hour layover at Ohare we always get over here. Had an appetizer platter that could have been enough for 3. Chips and salsa to start that you have to push away otherwise you'll not get to ordering the rest. Lively atmosphere and delightfully cool since it was 98 that day in Chicago.

Still a keeper

I havent been here in a decade. Still a wonderful mecican restaurant. Good menu, tasty food, grsat service. Brought back great memories. House margaritas very good. Glad they are still there.

Best Mexican ever!

I cannot say enough about this place....I had the black bean soup and the combo plate.....the soup and the tostada were absolutely delicious. The tamale was horrible, only bad thing I had. We also had the pork tacos, which were the best I have ever had. It has a great atmosphere, good service and decent prices.

Big portions of mediocre food after long wait

By MarathonMom12 |

We met a friend here who had just flown into ORD for dinner on a Sunday night. What kept this rating from being two stars was: 1) The hostess allowed our friend to be seated while waiting for the rest of us to arrive (stuck in Rosemont Theatre traffic two blocks away). 2) The service team was very prompt and generous with chips and salsa 3) Portion sizes were good value for most of our six dishes Here's what we wish had been better: 1) Parking - the lot is very cramped and shared with a taxi service, so it's very difficult to find a spot. 2) Food quality - while the chips and salsa were plentiful, they really weren't that good and neither was the rest of our food (shrimp fajitas were very greasy tasting and otherwise flavorless) 3) Service/food timing - other than the chips/salsa and water refills, service was very slow. We were overshadowed by several large groups celebrating birthdays, so we rarely saw our server. About 40 minutes after we ordered, all the chips/salsa and small plates were removed from our table and we were told our order was about to come out. Another 10 minutes went by and still no food until I finally saw our server and asked him. 4) No kids menu. We were just told to order a small item, which still meant $10-12 per child.

Family dinner on May 7 for Mother’s Day

Have used Visa Gift Cards at many major Chicago area restaurants over the years. Visa is accepted worldwide as well. Tried to pay part of my bill with a Visa Gift Card. Waiter told me they don’t accept. Was embarrassed but scrounged up the cash….did not want to put on credit card. I called restaurant after leaving and was told same thing, but was put on hold to speak with owner. Expecting Maria, a man answered saying “yes”….I told him I was on hold for the owner. Man said he was related to Maria. I explained my situation and first excuse was that there are too many fraudulent Visa Gift cards. As I said to the man that almost all restaurants accept Visa Gift Cards that I have experienced. He the told me another excuse that their service system doesn’t allow Visa Gift Card transactions. Two different excuses in 40 seconds. Either way, I won’t be back at Maria’s . Not the first time I was disappointed there.

Muy Bueno

Very good. We were impressed with the most unusual but delicious Queso Fundido served in a crispy toasted tortilla shell. Camarones are jumbo and served in the shell but sliced in half resembling small lobsters and are available with a variety of spices or sauces. One recommendation would be to add a children's menu to include some non Mexican choices or at least smaller children's portions. Service was good and management kept a very visible presence to ensure guest satisfaction

Nice atmosphere, better places for Mexican food

When you walk into Maria's, you think you are in Mexico. However, thee comparison ends there. Much of the food tastes like it's been microwaved and the service is hit and miss. A better spot close by is Laredo on Higgins in Rosemont!

Perfection !!!

This restaurant continues to amaze us with the consistency of their delicious Mexican food and drinks. They have recently remodeled adding a wonderful modern vibe with authentic Mexican artwork.the outdoor patio was wonderful for our party. Our servers Laura & Veronica were superb. The carne asada, shrimp fajitas , enchiladas and golden margaritas were delicious.A perfect way to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. Thank you Michael.

Great service, good food

We went shortly after they opened, so no wait. A server took our drink orders and got them out to us quickly, along with chips and salsa. The chips were very good, salsa was ok. My one son is a picky eater so he ended up ordering beef tacos with just tomato, as he hates lettuce and most cheese. His tacos came with a lot of cheese on them and we had to try and pick most of it off. He also didn't care for the beef since they put potatoes and carrots in it. When the server came to check on us she realized that they had prepared his tacos wrong and apologized, so the fault wasn't really hers. My other son got nachos which were really good. I got a combination plate which was also really good. Overall, I would recommend this place and we would definitely eat here again if we had the opportunity to do so.

Mexican favorite close to the center.

We visited with a party of 14 people and enjoyed it very much. Typical mexican decor, but friendly people. Had a man walking around playing tunes for tips. They took reservations and we didn't have to wait for our table. No one was unhappy when they left!

Hard to find, horrible parking but a great meal worth returning!

A surprising end result. We went to a convention at the Donald E Stephens Convention Center and saw an advertisement for this restaurant (only a few blocks away) . I would guess they get alot of business from this sign. I was hesitant at first to go along with my friends on this decision based on a sign. Overall, the food was excellent. One of the better burritos I have ever eaten. We had a nice dinner and all of us were pleased. Like I said, they have a very sub par parking lot that is a disaster to get in and out of with your vehicle. This did not start off my dining experience well but over came this with a very nice meal. I would recommend the restaurant and deal with the parking for the anticipated meal.

Decent food good price point

While I've found some of the dishes here rather pedestrian and lacking flair, their Mole sauce is some of the best you'll ever find. their shrimp cocktail is also one of the best. Their carne asada is good and beverage service is excellent.

Delicious authentic Mexican food!

We visited with a friend before heading off to the airport after a business trip. Maria's was recommended to us as we had never been before. The service we got for our lunch was friendly and helpful, and we had advice on the dishes and drinks. We variously had Chimichanga and Enchiladas and all of us were delighted with the food. My Chimichanga in particular was deep fried just enough without taking away the lightness of the burrito and the shrimp inside were perfectly cooked. The sauce and cheese was also utterly delicious. One to revisit next time we are in Rosemont!

Authentic, Delicious, Mexican Food Experience!

Maria's Mexican Restaurant on Foster Ave, just west of River Rd, is only several blocks from Rosemont. The food is simply the best authentic Mexican food served "piping" hot,in the Rosemont area and perhaps any location in the Chicago area. If a dish is selected with cheese, the deliciousness of the cheese will remain as a delectable memory. The friendly and attentive wait staff are a plus. The prices are unbelievably reasonable. The decor is bold, bright and colorful. The walls are filled with vibrant artwork; a great place to dine for art enthusiasts! Cravings for the best authentic Mexican food in the Rosemont area lead me directly to Maria's. Enjoy!

Good food, good size portions

By Paulie M |

This place is located just off the main road on a side street. If you come during the lunch or dinner rush, parking may be an issue. The place itself is pretty big with good amount of seating. The food was really good and good sized portions. There is no kids menu but they were pretty accommodating when we ordered food for the kids. They made an order of small plain cheese quesadilla and an order of plain tacos. A heads up on orders with ground beef; it's made with small chunks of carrots and potatoes mixed in with ground beef. So it may not be appealing to the young ones. However, the flavor of thier ground beef with all that mixed in is pretty good! Overall I would recommend this place.

Always love a Mexican resturant

I ordered 2 tacos (one beef, one steak) and 2 enchiladas (one beef, one steak). Best item: beef enchilada Down sides, taco shells were thick and they used 2 because 1 falls apart (I attempted to only eat 1)

So delicious
