First time customer

We came to this restaurant for an event so the menu was predetermined. The wait staff had their hands full with the number of diners but they moved around the room in an efficient manner delivering each course as it became available. Even with the pressure, they were able to fulfill personal requests from individual diners without missing a beat or losing their sense of humor. Each course delivered was well prepared and was given extra attention to presentation. All in all this was a very enjoyable meal thanks to the kitchen and the wait staff. This Maria's will be a must visit on our next trip to Philadelphia.

Food absolutely overpriced.

Food absolutely overpriced. My entrée came out and the chicken was not even lukewarm my partners entrée was very bland and the spaghetti sauce was very wet he’s not sick at all. It filled have to play with liquid great for an Italian run place I was very disappointed specially being that I am Italian American. Will not go back there. I don’t mind paying a little bit more for something that’s good but we both walked out of there taking our leftovers home so that we could spruce them up to make them taste good if that’s even possible at this point. Very very disappointing paying those prices and getting sub-par food. We won’t be back.

Maria's has great food and service. It is consistently excellent. Easy to find in Roxborough. Has parking.

Great neighborhood spot

We stopped on a whim and glad we did. Excellent service in a nice dining room. They had arancini as a appetizer special. The outside had a nice crunch and the rice had just the right amount of cheese to hold it together. The crab stuffed mushrooms had plenty of crab. She got a gluten free pizza, and I got regular crust. The gf crust was one of the best we’ve had and there is no upcharge. Nice selection of house wines by the glass. Big pours at a good price. We’ll be back and bring family with us!

Mediocre , awful waitstsff

I spent $140 which is a lot of money so I'm giving you a review! The special chicken risotto. The chicken was disgusting and dried out, the risotto was cooked right . The waitress , idiot , I wanted my dessert in a styrofoam box which they do have , she smashed it all up in a tiny cheap small pasta salad container ! Do you have morons working for you ????

New spot!

I chose this restaurant by location for meeting several friends. We got an early reservation without trouble. We were greeted by our spunky waitress. We got salads that were delicious. I got the braciole special with homemade gnocchi. Oh my goodness!! So delicious. Others had the ample halibut special & chicken piccata. All enjoyed. Special night means dessert, right?! They had a nice selection of desserts. Tuxedo cake-cheesecake layered between chocolate cake! Huge servings that we couldn’t finish after our ample dinners. The week night evening wasn’t super busy so we were not rushed out allowing old friends time to reminisce. I highly recommend this hidden gem tucked away in upper Roxborough section of Philadelphia!

Loved this place

Stopped in while visiting friends in the area. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the excellent service. We didn’t have a reservation for a busy Saturday night but they were very pleasant and they were able to seat us immediately. The food was vey good. We had no room for dessert but since it was our first time there our waitress gave us a free piece of chocolate cake to bring home. We will definitely be making a return trip.

Great food, great staff!

First cisit to Maria's, located in the Roxborough section of the city in a nice family neighborhood. Staff is very friendly and we felt very welcomed. Great menu with several specials, as well as, one dish each night featuring some type of home made pasta. All meals are prepared from scratch to order so it may take a little longer, but you can definitely taste the difference. The bar area is "cozy" and small, so if you have a larger group, just go to your table. Menu varies from apps, to sandwiches, pizza, calzones, etc. to full entrees featuring pastas, fish, chicken, veal and steaks. Dinner entrees include a bread basket and house salad. Portions are very generous and you may end up taking some home! Good desserts also. I would definitely come back. There is a small parking lot, but plenty of free parking on street also.

Hidden Gem

Maria's is a hidden gem, tucked away in suburban Roxborough. Worth the trip for anyone in the greater Philadelphia area.

Good food!

Went for dinner with family and was happy to see the menu had just about everything we could be in the mood for. Enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese(made with rigatoni), and bruschetta appetizers. We shared large portions of traditional veal parm and perfectly cooked pasta!

Authentic home cooking in a restaurant

My wife and I ate here and we had an excellent dinner. The ingredients were fresh, we both had the daily fish specials which were fresh and excellently prepared. The sides of mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables were tasty and the delicious deserts were home made. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was both warm and inviting. We plan on making Maria's one of our go to Italian restaurants.
