The homemade mozzarella was delicious along with the rest of the meal and don't forget to order the ricotta cheesecake

The atmosphere is cozy in winter and quiet outdoors in spring and summer. The food is fresh and very good. I have had brunch and dinner here several times. The wait staff is friendly and attentive.

While it isn’t a Michelin star restaurant you can’t beat it for a lovely night out. Food is fantastic, but if you aren’t a garlic fan DON’T order something with garlic… the kitchen loves garlic.! And that’s fine. Most importantly the service is fantastic. Servers knew the menu & wine list and we quick to make good suggestions based on our …. Suggestions as to what we might like. They Were super sweet and if we lived in the neighborhood we’d be regulars!

We ate dinner here on a Wednesday evening. The two hosts ( and owners) were gracious, friendly and attentive without being in the way. The food was wonderful, the avocado salad was super, I had risotto with scallops, my husband had the lamb special that night. The espresso panna cotta was lovely. Excellent food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere. Wish I lived closer so I could return many times!

Our party of six was treated like royalty by the manager(& owner?) and the staff this past August. They had recently opened I believe, and were very extremely attentive to us. Our entrees were cooked to perfection, and were uniformly delicious. We declined desserts but they brought us a sampling anyway, gratis! There is a small, but cozy dining area inside, and a cozy little outside seating area. A memorable evening, and charming staff. We were all delighted with our visit.

Excellent, friendly restaurant. Had great service, and though we had to wait for a table, it wasn't long and we had some cava (bubbly rose) at the bar. The portions are not huge, but are reasonable, as was the price for the entrees. I will go back again.

I pass this place all the time and finally decided to give it a try. I don’t know why I waited so long!!!! The food was amazing and service was great! I had the gnocchi and it was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Also had the Brussels sprout salad & that was really good also. I definitely recommend this place & will be back sooooon.

We have now been twice. Family in Brooklyn go fairly often because the celiac and tree nut allergy people are absolutely safe there, and the food and service are amazing. Like so many city restaurants, Mariella is very small, so expect to wait. It’s worth it if you have the time. On this visit, my husband and I both had items from the special offerings. My veal piccata was almost fork tender, beautifully seasoned, with roasted (?) fingerling potatoes. He had short ribs that he said were perhaps the best he’d ever had. Our niece almost invariably orders whatever risotto they are serving; that night it was with scallops, and was superb. The only caveats I would offer are two: the bench seat is a flat board, therefore not comfy, and the restaurant is very dark. We used iPhone lights to read the menu,,, The servers are delightful, the food is truly splendid — and the bathrooms are very clean.

Ate here for the first time this Saturday. Food was very good and prices reasonable. A little noisy but not unreasonable. Short ribs were tender and juicy. Bread was pretty good but could have been heated (a pet peeve of mine-:)). Definitely worth a visit.

The gluten free frittata was delicious. The wild boar sausage and ravioli was delicious too. We will definitely come back to this place.

We asked the waiter if the music could be a bit quieter so we could hear our conversations. He said no, the "music is for everybody". Then after a few minutes the music was completely turned off. We pointed out very politely that we didn't mean for the music to be turned off, we just wanted it turned down so we could converse. He said he would not turn it back on. Seemed to us the waiter had anger-management issues. This silly dispute spoiled our evening.

We were here before last year after my sons wedding. Both he and my wife are Coeliac. This restaurant provides great service with good humoured staff. No questions are left unanswered. We all had a lovely time and found it hard to leave. A good sign of a restaurant. We will be back.

I live in park slope - but I shudder to think of visitors having an experience like mine. Terrible experience. We ordered apps, main courses drinks, desert and coffees. Owner freaked out and screamed that he was going to charge us rent. It was exactly two hours from the moment we sat down to the moment he flipped out on us. Very hostile. Park slope has no shortage of awesome restaurants and wonderful proprietors - stay far away from this place.

Mariella's has a wonderful menu with so many featured specials, it was hard to make a choice. We shared a delicious appetizer of burratta with eggplant. Both of us had pasta dishes, excellent and not the standard fare. We shared a bottle of Valpolicella wine, also very good. Service was excellent and we sat there quite a while and never felt rushed. Definitely look forward to returning!

One of the best Italian food dining experiences that I have had in Brooklyn. Hands down. Went here with my family to celebrate my birthday. There were a total of eight of us. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The place is not large so I would recommend reservations as it does fill up after seven. The combination of service and expertly prepared food choices is what makes this place a gem in my book. On top of that they have a really good wine selection, but unlike many other places, the price mark up is not insane. The wine is priced very reasonably and the list is hand selected with care. You're not getting cheap mass produced stuff but you're also not paying through the nose for quality wine. The montepulciano d'abruzzo, which tends to be an economical selection was one of the best I have ever had. In terms of food, the items that I thought were stand outs were Portuguese Octopus, Burata E Melanzane, and pork medallions. I will surely be going back. Cannot think of one negative thing to say about this place, it's staff or food. They nailed it.

There are many Italian places so it's hard to choose, but Mariella's stands out. First, they are on 6th ave, making for a nice quiet experience but not remote dining. Seating outside is amazing and you feel the neighborhood vibe. Second, my wife has celiac disease and is allergic to gluten. So for those who are allergic or have an intolerance, they have GF pasta and plenty of dishes that will accommodate you. Go, enjoy and let the charm of Mariella make for a great meal. Very accommodating staff and wondeful food. Thank you!

Always a great place to dine outside with friends. The Italian fare is innovative and the wines are great deals. Love the duck ragu and the short ribs. Mariellas is one of the best spots to eat in the South Slope.

This lovely restaurant has outdoor seating but the weather was too hot for us to take advantage of that. It’s small inside and there was a very large group that had just received their order. This did not effect our service. We ordered the octopus with zucchini as an appetizer. The octopus was cooked perfectly. I had to ask how they did it because I’ve been cooking it for years and it’s never come out so perfect. They told me and I will be giving it a try. Although it was not just the octopus that was cooked well. The zucchini was delicious and the two together created heaven on your tongue. I can’t describe the zucchini and do it justice because there are no words. It tasted too good to be zucchini. Next was a simple salad of greens, lemon vinaigrette and avocado. This was a delicate dressing that lightly coated the greens and the creamy avocado complemented it so well. The Mariella BLT I’m a sucker for burrata and placed on a BLT was genius. It all came together in such a great way. For dessert we got the Torta della Nonna. What a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Not overly indulgent subtle in all it’s flavours that came together and demanded to be enjoyed. The kitchen is open and tiny and impressive I watched the chefs for a moment and they were like watching a well orchestrated ballet, they moved swiftly and with grace. The service was good, friendly and with a smile. It was priced fairly although I would have paid whatever they asked for the octopus because it was divine. Next time we hope to sit outside

Our visiting family from Denmark selected this for a family lunch of 12. I expected very little from this small restaurant but it was outstanding in every regard. Our appetizers were so good we order repeats. Everyone loved their main course mine being their Taglierini with shrimp and cherry tomatoes. Exceptionally good and quite memorable. The service was so pleasant it could have been a family dinner at home.

A nice cozy and out of the way intimate restaurant. Great food. Good prices. Great service. Mera a great host. Was there twice so far with my wife. Will Go back to try the rest of the menu.

We had a wonderful evening. The Service was very attentive. Since we were with a small child, a child-friendly table, as well as a high chair was immediately provided. The pasta was very well made and also the wine list left nothing to be desired. When taking a whole bottle, there was even a decent discount. That's rare by New York standards.

This is not the first time that I have eaten in the restaurant, and each time I return I am not disappointed. This time, it was a busy Friday night, but there was a table waiting for us outside - a perfect way to enjoy a breezy summer evening. The waitress even remembered our party from last year! The service was excellent and friendly, and the owner took the time to come over to our table so that we could book the restaurant for a brunch in September. Their menu was varied, salads, pasta, fish, chicken, seafood, vegetarian and meat. Everyone enjoyed the food - it was done to perfection, and the seasoning and presentation did a lot to enhance the experience. Prices were reasonable for the Park Slope location.

This is a belated review (I visited in August 2016) however my fantastic experience is super memorable. We actually visited Mariella after attempting to have dinner at a spot a few blocks down. After sitting and receiving zero service at that place, my friend and I had a chuckle...you know when you sit somewhere for so long with no service and begin to play a game and see how long you go ignored. That restaurant was empty and we received zero service. It remained empty. Anyway, we eventually left and ran into Mariella. The garden patio was particularly inviting and folks looked happy and festive...great, great vibe. And let me add-the patio was full. We noted the great look and feeling of the place an d had a seat. In less than 5 minutes, the host came out. And greeted us in an animated, very jovial and warm way. And let me tell you. He was cuuuuttteeeecute. Very. Our experience was one of the best we've had in my hood. My friend is a meat eater and I'm a veggie. We both found a variety of choices, I had a plain pasta with steamed veggies while my amiga had a seafood pasta. We were particularly impressed with our salads--something super fresh and tasty about them...we were cracking up that salad was such a big deal. Everything from soup to nuts, or in this case wine to wine was perfect!

Our family group of 4 ate at Mariella’s twice during a recent trip to Brooklyn. Mariella’s can’t be topped. We loved it. (Thankfully, it’s not a spaghetti and lasagne Italian restaurant!). It brought back memories of our visits to Italy.

While visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Brooklyn we ate here based on their past experience and the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. We couldn't have been more pleased. We each ordered something different from their evening specials list (braised lamb shank, black ink fettuccini with clam sauce, roast duck breast, and veal medallions). The flood was absolutely excellent, service was prompt, informative, and friendly. A very relaxing dinner at moderate prices. A "must stop".

great food! great hipsters place, pricy1!! would come back good fr business meeting like it, will come back

Place half empty and the idiot asks me if I have a resy!! We said no. She said sorry! We won’t be back they suck

I left Brooklyn over a week ago and I am still am craving the delicious light cream sauce that topped my tender ravioli. I selected my entree from the December menu.... Ravioli with mix wild mushroom, walnuts and a light cream sauce...$15. It was to die for......we were there for lunch, they were serving 2 large parties including our party of 3 service was good..oh and I forgot to mention the bread...yummy......

We came here after my sons wedding and it was just the ticket as we had a civil ceremony at the the Town Hall and there was only a small crowd. (14) 13 would have been an unlucky number. We had to wait for the last 3 guests and the restaurant was very accommodating. The Maitr D was Irish from Limerick and this was great as she knew the Irish tastes best. We still pushed the boats out as we are Irish and had a great meal and the cake afterwards was amazing. The wines were recommended by our Irish Maitre D! She was spot on and we all had a wonderful time and she or some of her colleagues took the necessary pictures for us all. Chips were even rounded up for us Irish and the service was fantastic even if the Bride and Groom were regulars. Extra seats were found for the latecomers and that to me is the hallmark of a good restaurant as they recognise that not all clients can be there on time. I will be back there again hopfully soon.

Went with a friend for lunch. Weather permitted us to sit outdoors and enjoy excellent service, great food at a very reasonable price.

This is an excellent Italian restaurant in a refurbished row house on a quiet 6th Avenue Park Slope street. We have had several wonderful meals here including this week with an excellent New York strip steak in a peppercorn sauce. The salmone in Padella and salads-Mediterranean Arugula and Mixed Wild Bitter Greens were also excellent and fairly priced. The service has always been very good.

This is one of our favourite lunch spots. They are open 365 days a year and I’m so glad they are. We again had the octopus which is the best we’ve ever had. The burrata blt and the short rib hash. The poached eggs on the hash were cooked perfectly. This place is charming and the staff friendly and attentive. Get the octopus you won’t regret it, trust me.

This place is on the corner. Look for street parking or take a taxi. Out door dining. We were taken care of immediately and then the crowd arrived and it was hard to get service. People friendly but they need another bus boy and another waitress. Severely under staffe. Food was good. Has. Full bar.

I basically ended up going to Mariella because of their gluten free options and because all their produce is by local farmers and their animal products are all organic. Since then, I have visited five times and my dishes have never been bad. The service is very good, they have good wines by the glass, and the place is always busy, which to me is a good sign. Very few Italian restaurants or Trattorias offer gluten free and organic choices. I do recommend their Burrata with eggplant, the grilled Portuguese octopus,Fettuccine a la Bolognese, and any of their entrees- Salmon and Short ribs. They also offer daily specials. If planning to visit, try to go early or make reservations, it gets very busy!

A truly amazing experience from being seated to paying our server for the great food and excellent service. We had the Portuguese octopus with zucchini in a fresh mint vinaigrette and arugula for starters and North Atlantic salmon caper berry white wine with sautéed kale and purple cabbage. The drinks from the bar were prompt and well mixed, wonderful staff I highly recommend this place

Visited this fine restaurant recently as my daughter just moved to park slope. We sat outside on a pleasant evening. I love outside dining plus we had a character serving us to make our evening very entertaining. Our food was delicious and we will be back.

We had a birthday Diner for 10 people. Everyone loved the food. Great service, good portions and the prices are reasonable. The pasta with the cream truffle sauce was a winner. I had the scallops with extra thick bacon.Perfect with the bitter green salad on the side. I would go back

This place is our neighborhood favorite. I’ve also brought friends here and never been disappointed. A menu with no weak points and an unpretentious wine list make it relaxing enough for anytime and good enough for an occasion. Favorites are the short rib main course and the shaved Brussels sprouts salad but you really can’t go wrong.

This is a regular stop for me for diner when I am in Park Slope Brooklyn, service is welcoming and the food always delicious.

Found this spot by going to a restaurant across the street. Lovely outdoor space, great service and excellent food at reasonable pricing. Much of their pasta dishes are homemade. Burrata appetizer awesome.

We chose this restaurant because the good reviews it had on TA and after eating there I would agree with the others whole heartedly. Not only was of food cooked to perfection, but the portions were just right and the prices reasonable. When we visit the Big Apple we usually stay in Manhattan but ventured to Brooklyn on this trip and was surprised to find beautiful neighborhoods like the one where Mariella is located. The next time you're in the city, think out side the bun, take a trip across the east river and treat yourself to a wonderful experience!

All nine of us enjoyed our delicious Italian lunch, including several gluten-free dishes. Mariella provides imaginative food, reasonable prices, good service and comfortable surroundings. A winning combination for the neighborhood!!

Came here for my sisters graduation lunch, with a bunch of family and friends! Had a great time with a fairly large party! The food was delicious and well priced, and it was surrounded by a pleasant inviting atmosphere! If you like Italian, this will definitely suffice! Will definitely attempt to return the next time I'm in Brooklyn!

A bit of an odd one this one. The food was amazing. Service when we entered really great too. Recommend the Manza short rib. Absolutely to die for. Reason for the mediocre review was that we had to keep tracking down our waitress to ask for things. But the worst was when they cleaned away our plates our server brought the check without us asking and without any offering of the desert menu. It felt like they were kicking us out.

A neighborhood gem - terrific food, a waitstaff that always remembers you, all meats and produce local and organic where possible - close to it if not - good wines, wonderful desserts - a warm and friendly atmosphere - a lovely place to eat. If you are a local - not to be missed.

Was recently here for a friend's birthday. The food was delicious and the service is excellent and done with a smile. Only wine is available at the bar and the selection is terrific. It's small and cozy and has indoor and outdoor seating. A pleasant little spot in a quiet part of Park Slope.

Mariella has been a block away from our house since it opened. While I have looked at the menu and specials often I have yet to have gone in. A friend who ate there yesterday for lunch insisted we go for dinner tonight. I am glad he did. We had a great meal, reasonably priced and well served. Good wines by the glass at reasonable prices. The food is simple and well prepared. The bill at the end was the biggest surprise - it was reasonable and affordable. A great addition to an already saturated foody hub. It will be here for a long time to come.

Ate here once and had to go back two days later as it was so good! The food was divine- the Veal Scallopini and the Branzino were so light and tasty. And Torte Della Nonna is a must for a lemony treat. Great wine and specials Friendly efficient service.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ate dinner at this restaurant After checking TA for Italian. The food was great we all agreed, service very friendly and price also good. We are outside as it was a perfect evening and enjoyed ourselves very much while visiting our son. Go- you won t be disappointed.

My wife and I ate at this small, yet welcoming restaurant with a friend that lives locally in Brooklyn. The waitstaff was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating to our requests the entire evening. Each of us at dinner had a different entree, and it would be hard to judge which was best because they were all great. The appetizers and desserts were wonderful as well. The manager comp'd one of the desserts, which was very much appreciated. This restaurant may be out of the immediate Manhattan area, but I would highly recommend making the trip to Brooklyn to enjoy this restaurant.
Hidden gem with delicate, delicious food.
This restaurant is tiny but ignore that because the food is beyond excellent. We had an order of the mushroom pappardelle as well as the risotto of the day which was seafood. There was nothing left on the plates after we were done. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. The waiters were readily available, courteous, and efficient. Don't miss an opportunity to give this gem a try.
