Great Authentic Mexican

By Mike A |

This place is great. Probably the best Authentic Mexican I have had. We make a point of stopping here every time we come to Portland. We have had tacos, burritos, tamales and never been disappointed. I would recommend anything.

Good food and fast, friendly service.

I stopped by for dinner, since I was picking up a rental truck nearby -- and I love Mexican food. The meal and service were very good. The chips and salsa were good too.

Great Mexican Seafood

By TruckeeTroutTraveler |

This place is very good Mexican style seafood. The compachna was awesome served in a huge shell shaped glass. I also had the 7 mardes soup which was outstanding. The Michelada with Pacifico was excellent. Wish they would have had Pacifico in draft but the bottle did the trick. The service was great and prices were good given the portions and the quality. I'll definitely be back!

Mariscos and Miches

Great choices of mariscos. Not the nicest place but the food is tasty and the service team is extremely welcoming. The micheladas are pretty good. If you don’t mind not eating at an upscale seafood place I would recommend!

Authentic and Tasty Mexican Food

By LakePanorama |

Coming from Southern California where Mexican food is ubiquitous, during a week-long stay in Portland I searched for good Mexican food. There were quite a few choices, including many "fast food" type establishments. I happened upon Mariscos el Malecon while driving near my hotel, and stopped in. The prices were reasonable, and when I was greeted in Spanish I knew it was authentic Mexican food. I had a burrito supreme ($7.99) and it was very tasty. The menu said it included guacamole, but I didn't find any in my burrito, so I mentioned it to my server. She quickly brought me a small bowl full of guacamole, and it was wonderful. I saw the interaction between who appeared to be the owner and regular customers, and there was an obvious mutual friendship. Although most customers seemed to be Hispanic, it was a great dining experience for this gringo, and I returned the next day for another meal, which was also very nice. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mexican food in a friendly environment.

INTERESTING HIDE AWAY

N.E. Lombard is a busy 4 lane highway, posted at 45 mph which most traffic ignores preferring 50 + mph. Unless you are looking for this place it is easy to miss it (they have tall flags at the edge of the parking lot to help with that). One evening we went past and noticed the parking lot was full. Always on the lookout for good Mexican food we decided to try it. Our next chance was for lunch - the parking lot only had one car in it, giving that sinking feeling we may have made a poor choice. Inside we took a booth which will seat 3 people on each side of the table. There are a few 4 person tables as well. The menu is quite large and the various dishes are shown in photos that are across the front windows and the walls. My first test is always the complimentary chips and salsa. Chips served hot, freshly made are the "10" with salsa that is medium spicy. These chips were cold, somewhat hard, getting a "5" rating, with medium spicy salsa so I can go with a 6 total. Enchiladas are my test food. I asked for one cheese and one ground beef to which the server said "no ground beef." The alternative was sort of a cubed beef. My wife had the Burrito Supreme which was very large, so she ate about half of it and boxed the other half. The food here is very good but with a few small changes could be top notch. The restaurant is clean, very laid back on the service - we could stay for a few hours if we wished. It is patronized by many Mexicans and the parking lot was filling up as we left around 2:30 pm.

I eat here regularly.

Not a hi-end restaurant, but great, authentic food, friendly service and very reasonable prices. I eat here every week.

Horrible Margaritas

By LM77WashingtonDC |

Went to this place on the basis of the positive reviews. Service was very good. The margarita was horrible. Tasted like it was made with Gatorade and couldn’t taste the slightest bit of tequila. It was undrinkable. The shrimp burrito was pretty good but the camerones cucaracha (stupid name for a dish) wasn’t very good. Was supposed to be grilled shrimp but instead came with a sauce and didn’t seem grilled at all. The shrimp was overcooked and had to be peeled. They also don’t have any beer on tap. I wouldn’t go back.

Good Fajitas

By Bradlee |

I'm a sucker for fajitas, so when I came across this Mexican restaurant when looking for something to grab for lunch before heading to work (I'm on a business trip), I figured I would give it a try. It's definitely sort of a "hole in the ground" location, but I was able to find a parking spot without issue - when busy, I'm sure it's hard to find a place to park. Restaurant is on the small side, and you can tell it's probably locally owned, which I like in a world full of chain restaurants. The salsa was pretty good, and the chicken fajitas were good as well. If I'm in the area again in the future, I'll definitely try to check out the place again and try something else.

Delicious

I went to the one on Stark street and found excellent food, great taste and authentic, service was great, facility was clean. We had the Chicken fajitas, ceviche tostadas and carne asada torta and were amazed at the large food portions. Pretty much with one order you can feed 2 or more people. We will definitively be coming back.

I Loved it

My wife and I visited #2 on Stark St during the Christmas holidays. We were impressed by the service and the food was great. We would visit again when back in Portland.
