My friend and I just wanted a nice easy lunch from the market and found just that! Market Grille is famous for their salmon burgers, but all seafood is excellent! We ordered right away and were offered seating at a peak lunch hour. We wanted to eat at the park so we said no but it was nice to know the turnover was quick. I had a prawn platter (seen) and it was absolutely delicious. Worth every penny. Fresh seafood and a great view of the sound in the park next to Pike Place.

We come here often for the chowder and grilled fish. But this time I tried the poke and it was so amazing. The service here is so much fun. They are really attentive and interested and interesting! It's always a treat to come here.

We heard of this establishment via Delicious Destinations on tv and l have to say the food is better than they could convey. The blackened salmon sandwich is an unpretentious meal that packs more flavor than you would ever expect. You could not ask for any seafood that's fresher when the fish market is just across the aisle . This place is one of those stops you will never forget. The upbeat very hard working staff, the noise of the market, the food, the smells all scream WELCOME TO PIKE PLACE MARKET.

Don’t let the prices listed on TripAdvisor fool you. It was about $20 for a halibut sandwich with no slaw/side and another $10 for a small cup of chowder. The sandwich was simply “fine.” There was nothing special or super tasty about it. The best part was the bread, which was delightfully soft with a good chew and a nice grill char. The fish was a small portion and a bit dry. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. I did not like the chowder at all. My travel partner said it looked and tasted like gravy. It was also not flavorful or seasoned well. I did not eat it. If I am spending $30 + drink on a sandwich lunch, I expect quite a bit more. Not a good value; I would go elsewhere.

I had Alaskan King crab with creamed spinach. Both excellent. They slice the kegs to make it easier to get out which is good, but they get colder faster. My wife had shrimp, crab with fresh linguini. Really good too.

as per title, after a long search, we decided to skip since there was no available seating. the market is extremely crowded during the summer season, so it is very hard to find any seating in any recommended restaurant. no worries, it is only food...

I have been eating at the Market Grill since 2011. It was my almost every other Sunday lunch for three years. Clam Chowder and a grilled Halibut Sandwich. Perfect every time. Just returned to Seattle last week for the first time since 2014. Market Grill was one of my stops, this vist I brought two business colleagues who work just down 1st who had seen Market Grill but were not sure about it and had not eaten there. Had the chowder still excellent, and had a salmon, a halibut and a rockfish sandwich split three ways. All super fresh, super juicy, super tasty! The two guys behind the counter were great fun and awesome with newbies to the Grill. Great to know that great things stay great!!

This is a favorite spot of mine on visits to Seattle. I hadn’t been to the city in several months, so I was very keen to visit in September 2020, my first visit since the COVID-19 pandemic began. I was pleased to see that Market Grill was re-open on certain days and had outdoor seating. I sat outdoors for my visit, which felt safe, with well-distanced tables. The staff was great about bringing the food outside, etc., after you placed your order. They were as friendly and helpful as ever. My blackened salmon sandwich was delicious, as always, served on delicious bread and perfectly cooked. A taste of the Northwest! I also had a cup of clam chowder—rich, creamy, and perfect to warm you up with the slight September chill. A wonderful place for lunch—memorably good sandwiches and soup at a reasonable price, served by a fun and hard-working crew.

We just wondered down here and after checking out a few menus on Pike St. We decided to stick with the theme of our surroundings. Even though a few of us aren't normally seafood eaters we all opted for the recommended Salmon Sandwich and we loved it! It has great flavor, very thin and incredibly fresh - not to mention the bread is incredible! Our waitress was so friendly and fun! Highly recommended:)

While in Seattle one must go Pikes Market and the Market Grill. It is inside the market on the ground floor. Can be a little difficult to find if you are using maps. You order at the counter and can sit at the counter if there is room. It seats about 8 people, or they have a cordoned off area outside on the street with tables and umbrellas. We ordered the “world famous” blackened salmon and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The salmon presented on a grilled hoagie roll with a sauce of some sort, grilled salmon, I believe pickled onion and lettuce. It was light and delicious. I can see why it is “world famous”.

I had a fish sandwich on a nice bun (maybe a baguette?) and it was delish. The salmon was so fresh and I couldn't help but think that if I was able to eat like this every day I would be healthier. I was able to walk out with my sandwich and eat on the lawn by the water.

So I went here to eat. Awesome blackened salmon sandwich. After that I had to try the prawns with coleslaw. After all when in Seattle. Another great dish. The person at the counter was great and polite and was working it. A must when coming to the market. Even if the line is long it goes fast. It’s worth it

We had the famous grilled salmon sandwich for lunch which was as delicious as many reviewers mentioned. The clam chowder had a wonderful « Pacific Northwest » flavor that was very special. Highly recommend. PS - the photo on Trip Advisor was not accurate. This is a lunch counter set-up with a couple of backless stools that adds to the ambiance.

Best damn salmon I ever had, in a paper box with plastic spoons. Fantastic. Sit at a bar, get a cup of water, no ice and order the basics. I had chowder and the salmon. Very happy with that. Nice cook/waiter ...

It had been three years since we visited the Seattle area, and the Market Grill blackened salmon sandwich was still on our minds. We made a special trip to Pike Place on our way to the airport and were rewarded with the most succulent salmon sandwich, again. Salmon and onions grilled just right with spices, and the bread - a crusty baguette - made a huge difference, too. Fun vibe in the bustle of Pike Place and solid service to match.

I had the "famous" salmon sandwich - it was good, but not great. A little dry perhaps? Owner/manager - was a hoot to talk with - he "made" the experience.

We were fortunate to score seats at the Market Grill and share a King Salmon Plate and Clam Chowder. What the Grill lacked in ambiance it made up in taste! A great lunch followed by the nearby flying fish show.

Market grill is a walk up stall that specializes in fresh seafood. Seating is at counter style seats. The staff is very friendly. Service is rapid. I had the NE clam chowder and it was excellent. Recommend. Hope this helps.

During my stay in Seattle (August 2016), I had a couple of lunch at Market Grill. The food was delicious, I tasted salmon, halibut and the delicious clam chowder.

Have eaten here several times. Tiny stand with limited seating, but in good weather they can seat you outside. Fresh fish sandwiches and chowder...just plain good. So many tourist places in the market with overpriced food...not here. Feels like a market stand should be....hot off the grill seafood....yum.

So good we went twice during our 2 days in Seattle. The chowder is excellent, the sandwiches were yummy too - the fish and the bread are so fresh. The friendly staff made us feel welcome. There's minimal counter seating but not a long wait for a seat. Lots of to-go orders as well. Totally worth the wait and the price!

The salmon on the sandwich was cooked perfectly, tender with a crispy skin. Just get it, you won't be sorry

We randomly decided to stop here while we explored the market. The staff was friendly and interactive. The menu offers several seafood choices. We had the chowder and a salmon sandwich, both of which were delicious. I hesitate to call this fast food, but the order came out pretty quick! We got out food to go but they do have limited seating with a view of the road.

If your visiting Seattle and stop through Pike's Market, this is a must go to food spot. Can be a quick meal other than at peak times when there is a little wait. The service is fast and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Overall it's a great place to find fresh seafood meals. Highly recommend this place to anyone!

I love the simplicity of the food here, super fresh ingredients, tasty as hell blackened Salmon, and the vinegret is really good. We tried the Seafood stew it was tomato base and I could have it as a person w/Celiac. Grateful for this place.

Awesome casual lunch spot in Pikes Market. The best salmon sandwich I have ever head. So fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot to others. Not many counter seats but you can take and eat at other places. Amazing!

Yummy! Famous sandwich was tastey but the Poke' Tuna on Coleslaw was amazing!! Limited seating (Less than 12) but many people got their food to go.

OK for a lunch on the market, teh fish is fres and simply served. The service is nice, friendly and helpful.

The weather was nice and the place was packed. I had hope to have their famous salmon sandwich but they ran out of salmon. We ordered New England clam chowder and Halibut Sandwiches. We were not disappointed. I asked another customer about the salmon sandwich. He said it was delicious. The next time I'm at Pike's Market, I'll be sure to get there before they run out. I loved the clam chowder because it was loaded with vegetables. It made for a very hearty soup. Very, very tasty.

If you eat anywhere in Pike Place Market - eat at the Market Grill. Great service, the fish is incredible grilled and comes fresh as you can get; nice on the platter - would recommend!

I ate for lunch excellent salmon in this little place inside Pike Public Market in Seattle. Not only the sandwich was excellent, but also the staff was very friendly. For example the cashier, even though my order was not clear he adjusted it in order to satisfy my request. Great.

Had to try this place. We had to go by twice to get 4 seats. 2 of us got the clam chowder and 2 ate the grilled Rock Fish sandwich. Clam chowder has a hint of rosemary. Nice touch. Grilled Rock Fish was the catch of the day. Great food, great service. We enjoyed the banter with the cook. He was a blast. Highly recommend this place. Ask for a pin to mark your home town on the map.

In Pike's Market, this little nook-of-a restaurant specializes in grilled seafood. It's a simple menu focusing on the fresh seafood that they buy from the fish markets right next to them. It's not fancy. You sit at a counter and the place might seat 10-15 people tops, but it's worth it. This is the kind of place I like to discover and will definitely return to when I'm in Seattle.

We were recommended by a local to check out the chowder here. It did not disappoint! The platters also looked amazing.

Went with my family, everything tasted great even the coleslaw side dish Too bad clam chowder ran out when we went there. We went inside pike place to get a number queue, it's for the dining tables they have outside where there's a waiter. The line inside is more for to go orders. If you're dining here and you're not into getting bumped by people (we went on a weekend). Get the number queue inside first then wait outside to be seated.

Best clam/fish chowder I have ever had. I don't like chowder bit dec8ded to try it basted on the reviews on here. It was delicious. There isn't really anywhere to sit and it is busy so you need patience. We waited and managed to get 2 stools to eat at. It was worth the wait

Warm attention and greats sandwichs made of salmon.... prawns... chicken... etc. They will offer you fresh water and a seat at the counter. They also serve in a plate, but the key is the grill. I tried twice a prawn Sandwich and was delicious. I'll be back!

It's worth the wait!!! Food is super fresh and delish!!! As you can see from my title you have to try the clam chowder!! It's by far the best I've ever had!!! Had the grilled salmon and rice and it was sooooo awesome! Definitely a place to try when you're at Pike Place!

This place is an absolute must try eatery inside the Pike Place Market. The salmon was so fresh, grilled to order and served perfectly! The signature sandwich was even showcased on the Food Network Delicious Destinations. I highly recommend eating here if you have the chance. There is only bar stool seating but you can order ahead and take it on the go The service was amazing and the staff were very friendly and responsive.

Great food salmon sandwich and prawn sandwich both delicious very basic seating but worth the stop good service

We are visiting from the uk and spent the day in Seattle today. This was just what we were looking for. I have the seafood stew which was delicious. My husband had a sandwich, which he loved. This place was perfect for us. Nice to sit and take in the views in such a spectacular place

We read online description of this restaurant and decided to eat there. As with most food locals at Pike Market, Market Grill has a line but they also have about six seats at the counter for non take out customers (most people do take out). My wife and I shared a halibut sandwich that was delicious and very reasonably priced. One sandwich was sufficient for both of us. We will definitely go back if given the opportunity. The only drawback is the limited selection of beverages, which are mostly sodas.

My wife and I ate here for lunch. We stopped by while walking around Pike Place Market. Their place is literally across from a fish market. The fish is so fresh! Food is good and their service is courteous. They cook it right in front of you!

There is a variety of food, something for every taste.Take a seat at a table near the window....if possible. So, while eating, you can overlook the water. The food was good, the service could be a little faster

Grabbed a nice salmon sandwich. It's sizable and filling. Was very good. The atmosphere is also great. It feels you are back in the 60s-70s

Best. Sandwich. It was really busy, but worth the wait. Shared my sandwich with a friend. haha, almost regret not getting my own sandwich, it was so good! Friendly and fast service. They use ingredients (bread) from local bakery and it is all fresh (tasting). Would eat it every day if I could.

Wonderful fresh Seafood at this famous market place. Great service and very tasty sandwiches and chowder. Highly recommended.

Flew in from Houston and I came directly to pike place to look for a place to eat and I came to this place recommended by two people. I got the salmon sandwich and it was delicious could've used a little bit of salt but the people and the atmosphere was amazing I definitely recommend it to anybody passing through Seattle to at least try the salmon sandwich.

We had lunch here. Order to go or sit at the counter. We ordered a chickens sandwich, salmon sandwich and chowder. Sandwiches were pretty good. The chowder was ok. Fun to sit and watch the people milling by.

My wife and I stopped by here as we were being 'moved along' by the massive crowds in Pike's Market. You eat on paper plates with plastic tableware. We made a good choice regarding the food. The halibut was grilled perfectly and the chowder was also very good. The staff was very friendly.

Stopped here for an early dinner one evening. Friendly staff and a really good meal for the price. Plus great spot to people watch in the market. The halibut was grilled perfectly!

Whatever the special is - the like blackened fish sandwich, it's delicious. Place is tiny and unpretentious. Very seattle vibe, check it out.

We came across the restaurant for late lunch and were able to get a seat at the counter to eat lunch. Friendly staff.

After being in town for business for 6 days, I have tried many of the top rated spots...and this one is my favorite. The salmon sandwich is amazing (and I don’t always love salmon). It was grilled perfectly and served with delicious bread & grilled onions. If I had another day in town, I’d visit again.

My wife and I are in Seattle on business/pleasure. We looked for a place for dinner close by, and found Market Grill in Pike Place. Met Drew the owner, and had a FABULOUS dinner experience in a little place that during the day typically has standing room only, but does not prevent people from streaming through. My wife had their World Famous Grilled Salmon and I had their Grilled Prawns. Both were FRESH as can be and both were delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick lunch or dinner. Their seafood is fresh. Cooked on the grill right in front of your eyes. And Drew the owner is a hoot to talk with, if you strike up a conversation. Ask him about "flipping restaurants". They have a catch of the day, that is fresh off the docks... and everything we saw and heard while we were there was absolutely positive! A wonderful little place to grab fresh seafood.

Fast, Friendly, & Absolutely Delicious. We visited around 12:30 which is a pretty busy time in the market. We were seated right away at the counter after ordering our food. We were able to watch the chef make our food & were served so fast. We got the salmon sandwich and the chicken sandwich. Both were great, but it was funny because we both thought the chicken sandwich was better than the salmon!

We were wandering about Pike Place Market and developed some hunger pangs. The group didn't want to stop at a full service restaurant but I needed something light to meet my needs. Saw the grill, and ordered the clam chowder. It was very tasty with lots of clams and vegetables. Hit the spot!

We went here for the blackened salmon sandwich and it was just fine. It was actually pretty underwhelming. I was really looking forward to this too. The food was meh, and the line was slow. I’d try somewhere else next time.

My husband ordered the Salmon Sandwich and loved it. He said to make sure you make room for lunch when you go to the market so you can stop for this sandwich.

The food is soooo good. The clam chowder was unique and delicious! Such fresh clams! We took our food outside on the deck nearby and enjoyed the view.

You can have a really tasty salmon sandwich here. The place is located in the middle of the market so you can decide to sit there watch people go by and have your meal. The fact that is prepared right in front of you adds to the experience. I enjoyed it and if you also like exploring a foreign city by going to places where its inhabitants go for their supplies, that you should not miss this opportunity in Seattle.

This wasn't a stop on our seafood tour of Pike Place Market but these lovely folks saw us across the way at Pure Fish Food market and offered our entire some some freshly prepared seafood chowder at NO charge. It was truly delicious and we enjoyed it tremendously. I am sure we loved it even more because of the gesture and kindness behind it. These folks epitomise the culture of Seattle where people really care and help each other out so much! Love it and highly recommend you try them. I wish the kindness they give to others come back to them 100-fold. With this charitable outlook they will go far and continue to prosper! Thank you so very very much indeed!

Chowder was ok, fish was ok. Food was very lack luster although fresh. Bread was under grilled. Tried the fresh catch of the day - halibut, it was grilled but very dry. Tartar sauce was more of mayo than tartar. Won't come back definitely.

Well, it all started with asking Andrew (Garf) about the clam chowder which he gave me a sample. He was friendly and helpful due to my 1,000 questions. Ended up walking around yet came back for the Chowder and Tuna Poke - both were delicious. Drew - Thank you for the Chatter and Happy New Years......Day! Overall great experience, it is not always about how delicious food is yet how you are treated. Great start on 1-1-19

We stopped in fresh off the plane and it was the perfect 'welcome to seattle' meal. We pigged out on fresh and crazy flavorful seafood. Everything was so over the top delicious! Sitting at the counter is a fun experience, too! And the staff/cooks were great!

U can’t pass by Seattle without visiting Pike Place Market. And once in the Market, u can’t but visit The Market Grill and taste the Most delicious Grilled Salmon Sandwich ever!!!! I highly recommend!!!!

This small joint in the market is super small, with just enough stools for about 15 people, and you can also take the food to go to eat elsewhere, which is perfect when the weather cooperates. If you are eating there, the proprieter-a very friendly, easy going guy will try to steal you spots at the counter where you will order, or he will take your order at the register if it is to-go. While he is the ring master of the front operations, there was a woman working quickly on the grill. My husband and I ordered the blackened salmon sandwich, which I had seen featured on some food-centric show, as well as the seafood stew, which is only served on certain days. It is made by the proprietor, and once it is gone, it is gone. My husband and I sat at the counter, and it is a cozy spot where you can talk to everyone, as you are elbow to elbow. They do quick business, but you never feel rushed. Again, the people working are friendly, checking in on you. They offer other fresh seafood items on the menu, and to drink-soft drinks and water. It was a great, well priced lunch.

I was in Seattle over the Labor DayWeekend. I went to order a much talked about salmon sandwich. They had sold out of Salmon and I had to have haddock. The haddock was great but I was totally disappointed. I'm here now and helping out with my new grand baby. My daughter snuggled him in the baby carrier and off we went to "Market Grill" in search of my Salmon Sandwich. I ordered a small cup of their delicious clam chowder and some garlic bread. Yes, they had my salmon sandwich. It was very delicious served onion market fresh baked bread with a choice of tomatoes, lettuce, grilled sweet onions, homemade tartar sauce or rosemary mayonnaise. It was a great time to go because it wasn't a holiday or a weekend. The middle of the week was just what we needed. We were served right away and sat on the stools. And yes, the two month old baby slept through the whole thing.

My Son and I found this as we walked through the Market.... Could not miss it due to the crowd! We stopped and each ordered a sandwich, salmon for him, prawns for me, and some clam chowder. All were perfect! This stop made our trip to the market memorable for sure! Do not be put off if it looks crowded. The line goes fast, the man working the counter is excellent at keeping it moving, and the food is surely worth the few minute wait. It is a must stop place if you want a great seafood sandwich.

After all these years of hearing about it, I finally tried market grill and I was not disappointed. Happened to time it right, somehow as it was 11am on a Saturday, and had my food within 10 mins. I went for the blackened salmon sandwich and it was delicious!! As others have mentioned, it is a bread-y sandwhich (kinda of like a bahn mi), but worth the carbs!

Their blackened salmon sandwich lives up to its hype, and their new england style clam chowder is a hidden gem! They start with a large slab of salmon and grill it to order, so you have to wait a few minutes, but boy is it worth the wait! If you're lucky, you can find a seat at the counter but it also makes for a great picnic at Gasworks Park on a warm, sunny autumn day! Service is quick, and it's fun to eat at the counter and watch the crowd shuffle by. It was sooooo good, we went back two days later!

The entire market was a zoo when we were there but maybe that’s normal. Managed to stop at Market Grill at a time when there were a couple of seats available. My wife and I got a salmon sandwich and a halibut sandwich. It was pretty good but nothing to write home about in my opinion. And a little on the expensive aide for what you get. Service was friendly. Didn’t feel full when I was done. All in all no major complaints but I think we could have done better.

Great chunky chowder with lots of ingredients and friendly staff. The server offered me water, crackers and a seat with the chowder. Wanted to order more food because everything looked good! But the chowder was so filling I didn’t order anything else.

Limited seating in this Pike's Market establishment. It had a limited menu with three types of fish served as a plate or a sandwich. It was wonderful. The grilled fish sandwiches were prepared in front of us. They were great. I loved the chowder.

This restaurant is in Pike Place and offers a good meal for a resonable price. We had the blackened Salmon sandwich which is sizable.

This is a fish place in the farmers market serving fresh fish sandwiches and platters freshly prepared in front of you. I ordered the Halibut option as a platter which came with rice and salad. It was pricy at over $15, but you get what you pay for, and fresh Halibut doesn’t come cheap. The platter and fish portion could have been bigger, but there was no doubting the quality of the food. You can either take away or eat in on the bar stools.

Located inside the top level of Pikes Place, this little gem is being featured on Andrew Zimmerman’s Delicious Destinations. No wonder as they make great chowder, grilled fresh fish sandwiches, and served with a smile. Will definitely be back!!

Excellent simply prepared halibut and salmon plus the fun of getting to watch all of the activity in the market while you eat.

I gave this place an extra star because the cole slaw is the best I've ever had. I hate a heavy mayonnaise based cole slaw and theirs was not; more vinegar (which I love) and light mayo. I had the halibut sandwich and it was delicious. The customer service was also on point. The chef was able to grill fish and answer tourist questions with the best attitude.

When you finish a great meal and you are so satisfied that all you can say is Mmmmmm, then I know you have discovered the Market Grill. Located inside the famous Pike's Place Market, the Market Grill serves up seafood heaven. I'm from New Orleans so believe me when I say I know my seafood. If you want homemade clam chowder and the best salmon sandwich you have ever tasted, you have got to go there. I ordered the salmon sandwich and watched as a beautiful fillet of salmon was grilled right in front of me. Get the rosemary mayonnaise instead of the tarter sauce and treat your tummy to something yummy. While I was there people were constantly coming to order the clam chowder and as soon as I tasted mine, I knew why. Thick rich chowder full of flavor and lots of clams. This was not the watered down canned soup clam chowder, this was the I slaved over a hot stove all day to make this for you chowder. I enjoyed this food so much that I ordered another sandwich and chowder to take back to the hotel for dinner. In fact, I'm eating it as I write this review. Mmmmmm! The prices are very reasonable and Drew and Andrew really know their food. These guys are the real deal and are genuinely glad to see you. I felt like I was in the home of a friend who had made a great meal just for me. Seating is limited but you can stand at the counter and eat or get it to go. I was actually sad when my food was all gone. (I should have eaten it slower.) so I had to have one to go and I'll bet you will too. If you go there, tell the guys Dorothy said hello and I'll try to get back there real soon.

After working up an appetite watching fish being flung around in the Pike Place Market I turned to the Market Grill for a tasty tiger prawn sandwich at one of the outside tables. This restaurant can get crowded - especially the inside side of the house - so I was happy to find a table outside on a beautiful afternoon. Service was quick and efficient and the people watching was a treat. My sandwich wasn't big but it was quite good. There are a lot of places to eat in and around the Market but I was happy with my choice.

We were in Seattle to celebrate my 40th birthday and had read to try the clam chowder at Market Grill. We got lucky because the market was not busy likely due to the pandemic. We walked right up to the counter and put in our order. They offered to set up the patio furniture for us as it had just stopped sprinkling. We were seated outside and when we got to the table they brought out more food than what we ordered. Soon after we were greeted by another worker who we enjoyed a great conversation with. Turns out he was the owner! All in all it was a great experience and the clam chowder was great too!

This is a small place where you take away your food or seat on some of the simple stool. The owner is genuinely nice and welcome you perfectly. You feel immediately at ease. There are many items in the menu but everything is fresh and cool to order (except the soup). It is so delicious and very well cooked Go there without any question. You taste what fresh and home food is about

The Salmon sandwich with Rosemary mayo is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. It is so simple yet the fish is so unbelievably fresh the sandwich doesn't need anything else. We are in Seattle for a week and I plan on braving the market and going back, maybe even twice it was that good.

Fresh soup, fresh fish cooked in front you on the grill. The place is rustic but the food is so simple and natural that you get all the flavors

Very friendly service but for the price the place is overrated. Had the blackened salmon sandwich. Not blown away.

Not the greatest lunch, but it was fun being in the bustle of the busy Pike Market on Seattle's waterfront. Counter service only here, we had a lunch of grilled sockeye salmon atop salad greens, served with a wedge of garlic bread. My husband had the same, but his protein was grilled prawns, also local, instead of the salmon. A tourist place for sure, but having not been to Seattle in more than 15 years, a so-so lunch was a small price to pay to see the market again.

This was a great place to stop in for a fresh salmon lunch after walking through the Pikes Place Market. The grill is located around a counter large enough for ten bar stools, if lucky to find an open stool. Most people order to go, but I was lucky to find an open stool. I ordered the blackened salmon sandwich. Everyone sitting around the counter can watch their fish sandwich being grilled and assembled in front of their eyes. Each sandwich is on a baguette from La Panier, the French bakery across the street. The sandwich included lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and their great sauce. The salmon was fresh, flaky, and grilled to perfection. They also offer fresh halibut and cod. I’ll have to try them next time I’m in Seattle.

Our food was good and our server was also good. We sat outside, and the tables could have been a bit cleaner.

We had a lovely lunch outside in the chilly air. The salmon was wonderful and our hostess, Sabra, was informative and welcoming.

Your seafood is more fresh because: 1. You are located on the waterfront? 2. Your supplier is just next to you? Yes and yes! We assumed. Our lunch order: Wild Alaskan Halibut+bed of spring mix ($14.95) Wild Coho Salmon+bed of spring mix ($12.95) Large clam chowder. ($6.95) No regrets. Lots of enjoyment. No fishy aftertaste. Firm fish flesh. All fish items were excellently grilled and not battered to death. The chowder is flavorful with big pieces of clams, as promised. Portions are lunch sized. Service is ultra pleasant and friendly. Counter seating, so your meal is fully prepared in plain sight.

Tried to order on line and got thru the entire order w/entering my credit card, and it kicked me out saying grill not open and couldn't connect. So we walked over to the market and waited at the counter for them to open. When the crew showed up they immediately grouched out to people in line to "go order on line." We told them we tried and got rejected because grill wasn't open, so they signed in to the register and said "ok, go order on line." We said we left our laptop & phone at home so just wanted to order on site. They said they'd take orders "sometime" after opening but would first process on-line orders. So, we stood in line for 20 more minutes (after opening) and watch them toast bread, but still not start any fish. And they'd already instructed other customers that if they had ordered on line, they should go out to the street counter and wait for their order. By 20 minutes after opening they were finally willing to take counter orders, but it was obvious we wouldn't be getting our food for another 30-40 minutes at best. Rude and definitely NOT customer oriented, we can't think of a single nice thing to say about the 2 staff except to say they were probably overwhelmed AS USUAL, which means management just doesn't care about staff or customers. Eventually, and I do mean eventually, we got our food to go and returned home. At this point we were so irritated, offended, and hungry that it really didn't matter how good the food might have been. Can't think of any bites that would have tasted good at this point. Will NEVER return here again, and would tell everyone we know to avoid this place. If its chowder you hunger for, go to Pike Place Chowder (either at the market or a few blocks away in an office building).

It's just fun to sit at the counter and watch them put that amazing fresh salmon on the grill. Though they have added seating on the street, I prefer sitting and watching people walk through the market. The food was quite good. Great salmon and cole slaw!

Any season, this place is good either to get a quick bite or settle outside in the sunshine with friends and watch the world as it visits Seattle. The chowder is good and the salmon sandwich on a Macrina baguette is always delicious. Top quality food prepared simply.

Good salmon sandwich , the fish is fresh and tasty. I went there with some friends while we were in the market

This is one of the stand in the Pike Place Public Market, kind of in the middle and on the top floor which is next to the busy street. Three young men are really working hard to keep up with the orders because it is very busy most of the time. Their specialty is grilled fresh fish and shrimp and Clam Chowder. We actually came here twice. The first time was after we had lunch and the smell is so good, so we only ordered the Clam Chowder and it was delicious. We came here the second time for lunch and we ordered Halibut Sandwich, Salmon Sandwich and Catch of the day Sandwich (it said it was Canadian Rock, but unfortunately they were out of it at the time, so we got another Halibut). The fish is very fresh and the Grilled Fish tasted really good. We had another Clam Chowder too. Highly recommended for lunch.

Was on a visit to Pikes market before an Alaskan cruise about lunch time and came across this deli. I quickly did a search on my phone for reviews and it seemed that the Market Grill had decent praises. My daughter and I opted for a nearby crepe but my wife and a friend when to the Deli while the rest of the family hit up the Honest Biscuit. We all gathered around some nearby tables and shared it all as a family style buffet. The Reuben and the turkey club were very good; however, the Reuben sandwich stole the show from the deli. The Market Grills menu is short; but, as another reviewer offered, the flavors are spot on. I definitely recommend a stop here.

Service in this place was very slow and disorganized. Food was average. We loved the clam chowder soup, but salmon In the sandwich was dry. We sat outside, which was nice, but also dirty and full of garbage.

Love their food so much, I ate twice in 5 days- considering there are lots of restaurants in Seattle. Located inside pike place market. Try rip their poke and halibut. Grilled bread is to die for.

A friend recommended the Market Grill when visiting Pike Place Market and it did not disappoint! We ordered two blackened salmon sandwiches and the were amazing. The fresh blackened salmon, lettuce, and tomato along with grilled onions and aïoli on a fire toasted baguette made for a perfect combination. The staff was great and it was fun to sit at the counter and watch them prepare the food. You can also add a pin to a world map on the wall to show where you are from.

We had a great time sitting at the counter inside the market. We were recommended the catch of the day which we had as a platter and the halibut sandwich the fish was incredible, perfectly grilled and the salad accompaniments were surprisingly fresh, didn't expect such good dressing. The staff were chatty and funny.

Expect great, fresh, simple food👍 Understand you’re eating in an iconic establishment that’s been on the Food Channel for having the best Salmon Sandwich in Seattle👍 Know there is very little seating, but when you get your seat, it’s amazing people watching. 👍 Understand that it’s great food but not romantic or a fine dining, leisurely meal.👍 Know that it’s in no way inexpensive but worth it for the quality and experience! 👍

Seating in the back and great food! Friendly service. My family shared the chicken platter, prawn platter, salmon platter and 2 large clam chowders. Soup was delicious!

Great chowder and great service. A grand place for people watching along the market place. Don’t miss it enjoy

I ordered the grilled salmon with a salad. Very relaxed dining they have a stall in the market and bar sitting. You Can watch as they prepare your order. The salmon was delicious.

Delicious salmon sandwich, fresh and quality product, Quick and friendly Service in a tourist place but very cool

I looked forward to dining at Market Grill because of a "Travel Channel" recommendation. We sat outside and enjoyed the people watching. While I can say the food and service did not disappoint, I can't rave about it either. My chowder was full flavored it did not have enough fresh claims in it. I truly miss the chowder I use to get in Maine. My wife's fish was generous but the spices were not to her liking. The pricing was extremely out of line (but that's what you expect in Seattle & Pike's Market.) Go to Pike Place Market for the experience and not for the "deals/bargains" because everything is jacked-up 2 to 4 times normal pricing.

Perfect Service! Fun service! Nuthin fancy. . Very good pure food. Chowder is excellent . . Th salmon is undercooked even by Seattle standards. . .the price is very high $20 for small chowder and salmon sandwich. Buttttttt they constantly have a line . . Sooooo just like many many many popular places in the market have done . . They keep increasing their prices and the lines get longer . . Buttttt with all of that said . . I do recommend it .. it's not awesome . .but it is good.

First thing first , if you come here be prepared for the crowds, especially on weekends you could wait up to 20 minutes for your food or longer . It’s worth it though , the clam chowder is amazing and so was the salmon sandwich . A bit on the pricey side but that’s the norm for this area.

We'd eaten here several years ago while on a cruise and decided to stop by for lunch again. So glad we did. Friendly guys behind the counter and delicious, fresh salmon cooked perfectly. Not much seating, but nice people moved over to give us room. Very reasonable for a tourist spot.

Fresh coho salmon on freshly baked bread- $12.99. Crisp clam chowder at $4.50 for a small bowl. Prompt customer service and exceptional food. Located in the middle of Pike's Market!

You'll probably fight the crowds, wait in line, despair of ever having lunch, but worry not. As soon as you get within range of the excellent staff, they'll take care of you. They''ll have your sandwich on the grill before you get to the register. Get the chowder and a grilled salmon sandwich on the excellent bread. Eat at the counter if you can. We score stools both times! Ought to get a medal.

This place may not catch your eye as you walk by but the reviews do not lie. I had an excellent salmon lunch.

We wandered in for dinner and got great service, but the food was variable the "angry East coast scallops" were very good, but the Cioppino was below average; underspiced, with one shrimp, no noticeable crab, and limp pasta thrown in. You can do much better in the neighborhood (see: Pink Door).

Although it is just a few seats in s market place, it is hard to beat fresh grilled fish and s good bowl of chowder. I enjoyed it and the price is quite reasonable.

As stated, the reputation of the Market Grill is well deserved. The salmon sandwich was a beautiful creation of fresh sockeye salmon, well dressed with fried onions and roma tomatoes on a grilled french roll. We could easily see the grilling, and it was horrifying as my wife has a severe shrimp allergy. There were shrimp next to the salmon, and not only were they using the same spatula for both, they were using the same spatula on both the raw shrimp and fish, and the cooked sides as well. In our county that is a severe health code violation, and we had to cancel my wife's sandwich for fear of cross contamination. I still gave it 4 stars because the sandwich was so good, but anyone with a shellfish allergy should probably leave this one alone--way too risky.

If you are in Pike's Place Market, you should definitely come to this booth and enjoy amazing food and the friendly, awesome staff! I had the salmon sandwich with the rosemary mayo, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. It was AMAZING! Once you pick your fish for the sandwich, they put it on the grill for you and create it at that moment. While waiting, the grill guys were chatty and fun. There is an option to sit outside, which we did not take, but it seemed to be a good option if you want to people watch on a nice day. The sandwich was absolutely delicious!! It cost $15 and was TOTALLY worth it!!

Delicious fresh seafood and sensible sides (salad and rice). I thought the price was a little high considering the small portions but I understand I'm paying for freshness. This is only a counter place in the Pike Place Market with about 8 stools. The menu changes, so I asked for recommendations (was told to go with the Halibut or Salmon).

I've passed this place many many times on previous visits to the market, but for some reason never ate there until my most recent visit. Now it will be a regular stop when I'm in the neighborhood. I had the grilled halibut sandwich and it was pretty much perfect, proof that simple things done really well are the best. The halibut was mild and delicious and the bread was the real deal, a perfectly crusty yet soft baguette from Le Panier down the street. Topped with rosemary mayo, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato - brilliant!

No I would not recommend. We had better fish at the same price that came with fries and a table and chairs. The seating out back is on the street and next to the trash. Staff not so friendly.

Great place to get a quick bite to eat for lunch small but found table with a water view The staff was friendly and the food was good

The sandwiches here are king. The sign said world famous grilled salmon sandwich, which my colleagues ordered, and I had the grilled halibut. I highly recommend them both. The place has a few cramped bar stools, but honestly you're probably better off getting your food to go. The clam chowder was fantastic as well, and overall the prices are reasonable for such a hot touristy area.

My husband stopped here for their "World Famous" blackened salmon sandwich during one of our visits to Pike Place Market when we visited Seattle. He said the first bite seemed dry as it was just bread and fish, but as he continued, he said the condiments came through, and the sandwich was delicious. It was $15+, and the sandwich wasn't very large. Nice staff and quick service.

Good selection of food and beers. Several TVs to watch sports on. Their pizza's are awesome! Great service too!

This place is small but awesome! Drew, the manager, loves cooking and he does it very well. Also, his service and attention are excellent! P&M

It’s tradition to go to the market grill and get some chowder mid exploration, but last time we decided to mix it up and had poke and salmon which were both excellent. The chowder here rivals that of the Pike Place Chowder, if you’re looking for more thick and chunky this is the place to go. The wait is worth it.

I decided to stop by this place for lunch. It was cold outside, so sat at the counter. The guys are pretty friendly and I ordered one of their specials, the blackened salmon sandwich. It was pretty good. I wasn't able to try their clam chowder b/c I have been having clam chowder (different versions) for the last 3 days. Plus I wanted to save room for dessert. I would definitely come back again.

Very busy when we went however the service was attentive. We did take out and it was reasonably quick, the food was delicious and it was a nice taste of Seattle.

The place is a very small shack and busy. That's undertandable, but is shocking their lack of order. The front "service" personnel aren't welcoming. After waiting for a spot for more than 15 min, and when we found one, the guy attending told us that the spot belongs to other persons, and he did acknowledge that we have been waiting. There is NO sign telling to make a line or let the service know if one is waiting. Bottom line, the way in which the man told us wasn't nice, most of all rude and extremely disrespectful. For any business big or small service is very important, and for a small one it really makes the difference. Here you will fine zero service and a talk back guy as the business face.

Atmospheric funky little casual eating place serving fresh and high quality fish meals. Service is good and the food is economical.

While vacationing in Seattle, I was craving a halibut sandwich. Came here the second day early as to not have to stand in line. Ordered to go. Halibut was grilled perfectly! The bread was soft and fresh. Got mine with only lettuce and rosemary mayo. A couple of splashes of tapatio and I was good to go. I could eat one everyday. I heard the salmon and chowder is really good too!

I had a very good salmon sandwich on a late Sunday morning before walking to Safeco Field for the Mariner game. The staff was excellent. My group of 7 arrived 20 minutes before they opened and the staff was very courteous and friendly while we patiently waited for our Salmon Sandwiches.

A basic seafood menu that delivers what it is suppose to. We had the salmon special and fish and chips. Nothing fancy but delicious and filling. Even though it was at the end of the day we had very friendly and considerate service. The stall is small and busy so be prepared to take away your order. I would gladly return to this great grill.

Watch the guys grill your salmon and the bread as you wait. They also Offer poke and other fish, chowder and various drinks. There are about 6 seats at the counter, we chose to take our food out to the park adjacent to the market. The salmon was tender and flavorful. The bread was chewy and crusty.

The environment is genuinely nice and the staff are always welcome you perfectly. That will feel you at ease immediately. It is so delicious and very well cooked. I loved it. Yummy!

Flying in from Houston, we were hungry and ready for some really good food. The Clam Chowder was some of the best I have eaten.

Just Ok Salmon sandwich and I would say overpriced. I’ve had way better in other places. Probably just the location that made this place so highly ranked. Chowder soup was good

My girlfriend and I were visiting from Tampa and had a great time here! Amazing service and quality food!

Super friendly people behind counter, very very good service, and good food. A pleasant surprise in the crowded craziness of the market

We had lunch here every day while in Seattle. The Salmon Sandwich was so delicious, the best I ever had. The seafood chowder was also very good. The staff was so friendly and that made it a very enjoyable experience overall!

Not too bad for grilled. Crowded atmosphere. Bar stool seating. Reasonable price. Would likely return if hungry and in that location but would not bother if had to travel there.

Wouldn't call it the best, but it was a good grilled salmon sandwich. The service was nice and overall, we didn't have to wait long.

Some of the stock photos are not at the Market Grill. What you get is 8 counter seats and fresh seafood. We had the Copper River Salmon and clam chowder. As good as it gets. Canned soda or water. That’s it. In Pikes Market

I noticed that this place had the recommended sandwich by Zagat for the entire state. I was not that impressed and am sure that Washington has something better to offer.

I normally don't like fish, but the Salmon Sandwich was phenomenal. They have a good variety of hot sauces as well. Staff are fun and friendly, especially for how crazy and busy it can get. Bottom line: I would happily eat here any time I am in the area. Tip: if you like Rosemary mayo ask for extra, it adds some great flavor.

Was not satisfied with sandwich. Stingy on the amount of fish. Somewhat pricy. Prefer my Florida fish.

Visiting Seattle for a conference and stopped here for lunch. Although they had great reviews, they did not meet our expectation. We both got the halibut sandwich. There was barely any fish- it was all bread. Not worth $19.00. I recommend they increase their portion and use a more complimentary type of bun.

Blackened Salmon sandwich....amazing Clam chowder.....amazing Poke Bowl.....amazing Staff...amazing Tight quarters, but just say hello to the stranger next to you and enjoy the delights prepared right in front of you. You will be smiling;)

Had lunch for both days of our stay in Seattle. First day we tried the copper river salmon which was one of the best grilled fish i ever had. The second day, we tried the halibut. The place may not be catchy but the ambiance is awesome. It is right on the marketside. The service is very good and friendly. there is a world map and US map on both sides of the wall where you can pin your location where you came from, which was fun. The menu does not have much options but every dish is surely going to suit your palate.

I've been here before for the chowder and grilled fish. But this time I tried the poke and it was so delicious. Also the service here is so much fun. They are kind and interested and interesting! It's always a treat.

We had the freshest salmon lunch and salad. Staff was friendly and very funny! Great place for eating while on the water for lunch!

this has the best Clam Chowder I've ever had. We went back the next day to get more. The salmon sandwich was also really good but the Chowder is the way to go!

Prawn sandwich taste fresh and great. However, it is a bit too expensive compare to normal take away food. But I will still suggest to try it if you're a fan of seafood.

An excellent quick bite to eat at the Pikes Place Market in Seattle. Walked around a few times and decided to eat here as the menu looked to have the best choices for fish and sandwiches. Went with the Salmon Sandwich and the clam chowder. Both were excellent but I would say that the prices were slightly high for the portions especially on the sandwich. 18 bucks for what looks like half a sandwich is a bit much. Its delicious but should be closer to 10 or should be a larger portion at that price. Service was quick and the people were friendly.

Salmon was fresh from Eliot Bay...simply grilled with spices and served atop a very fresh French roll, from a bakery in the marketplace. Coleslaw, was great...affordable prices. Great street side patio, to do some serious people watching. I am craving the salmon as I write this review! I'll definitely be going back!

I had the chowder and the salmon sandwich - the chowder was creamy, warm and light, filled with beautifully tender chunks of fish and potato - it was delicious! The salmon ciabatta sandwich was brilliant - the salmon was cooked medium-rare. The serving was pretty much ideal - not too big, nor too small. Oh and it tasted great. All in all a great meal and great service.

Get your lunch here to go and enjoy in one of the public seating oceanfront. Scrumptious and hefty servings! Line moves fast and orders are quick. Fresh catch grilled in front of you. The cashier is funny, he is an attraction on his own. I had the catch of the day - Canadian Rock Cod salad. Value for money, too! Would love to go back and try the other dishes.

What a great place to eat! We had the prawn platter. It was delicious. Make sure you sit outside to enjoy your meal. Anthony was a great server. He was friendly and shared information about some other vendors. This was a great catch! You won’t be disappointed!

We got their famous blackened salmon sandwich and was so disappointed. It was very thin like a pancake and had absolutely no flavor. It maybe had a little pepper, but definitely not blackened. Very bland. It would have been nice if it was blackened on a toasted bun with a special sauce. Will not go back. I was so looking forward to eating here.

I walked past Market Grill many times during my visit to Pike Place Market, but decided to give it a go after Googling for best chowder in Seattle. While they may not be as well-known like Pike Place Chowder, their clam chowder was still delicious and as was their “World Famous Blackened Salmon Sandwich” (as per blackboard, they were also featured on Andrew Zimmern’s Delicious Destination”). I ordered their “World Famous Blackened Salmon Sandwich” as a platter and it came with rice with onions, a refreshing salad, garlic bread and blackened salmon. With a small chowder, it made a delicious dinner. It is slightly pricy at USD$20 for both, but I was only there for a visit and when in Rome, right? Service from the two guys there was great and they were extremely friendly. Highly recommend.

We had a salmon, in a plate, with rice, salad and garlic bread. The breads are supplied by a local bakery from the market. Everything was great, 14 dollars including tax.

We travel a lot, and either go to over-priced tourist places, or simple restaurants with outstanding food. We discovered Market Grill on our first trip to Seattle. It is one of my favorites in the world. There are just a few stools and you eat at the counter. Their halibut and salmon sandwiches "dressed" with a special mayonnaise and onions are absolutely delicious. The clam chowder trumped the servings at two waterside restaurants we previously dined. The young guys who work there are really cool too. One worker stated that he remembered us from a previous visit. Pricing was good for Seattle.

This is a small cozy place in Pike Place market and seems to be quite famous. There is a bar with a few seats or you can take your food outside. I had one of their specialties which was the grilled salmon sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The salmon was excellent and so was the sauce. Everything was fairly priced too. Would definitely recommend this place.

Though I've lived here for a long time I never got around to checking it out. All around good experience. The wait times were a bit long, but it was busy. The staff were working hard and did a good job. I think I'll be back.
Fresh fish, but average
My sister highly recommended this, but when we went we were not impressed. The fish itself was great, very fresh. But the sandwich was not as good as some of the other foods we tasted during our foodie tour. We ended up just eating the fish out of the sandwich. I think you can do better with all the diverse selections along the market. Seating is very difficult for a family.
