Building on Southern Italian cuisine

By Gabriel H |

Marmo is a high-end addition to the lower Westheimer food scene. Across the street from Uchi, it occupies a large, ground floor area of a corner building. This is a modern building, with lots of natural light, especially since the restaurant sits on a corner. In addition to the large indoor dining area, there is an outdoor dining area by the main entrance, a little hidden from the traffic in a lovely covered patio. Service was polite, effective and professional. Friendly, but not in your face. The food interprets Southern Italian cuisine, refined to more expensive tastes. The appetizers include a good number of small dishes, including fresh oysters, tuna, red snapper, Calamari, Fried chicken and a delicious blue crab bruschetta. A good selection of homemade pasta and risottos offer tastes from North and Southern Italy. There is a respectable selection of salads, but the strength of the restaurant is the selection of steaks: excellent cuts, expertly prepared to your specification, with a good variety of sides. Fish, chicken, duck, veal and lamb are also available. The well-priced list of wines completes the dining experience, followed by excellent desserts and coffee..

Don’t waste your time please.

Food is trash! No distinctive flavors on anything authentic. Drinks overpriced. $35 for a cheap glass of wine. Atmosphere is great though but that’s NOT ENOUGH. Complete waste of time. Their friends had to have given these reviews

Food was so good!!

The venue is airy and bright but welcoming. The service was attentive and the food was so good especially the lobster pasta! My only comment would be to simplify the cocktail menu - we ordered some cocktails that didn’t really taste all that great.

Great food and service!

Visited on a Saturday evening with reservations. Quickly seated. I liked that the managers visited our table and others throughout the evening to check on our experience. Great service and great food. The Atlas group has several restaurants in Baltimore and I’ve visited Tagliatelle in Baltimore and the food experience was amazing. Marmo had a similar menu and the cuisine was great! We sat on the front patio and was able to hear the live music inside which was very nice. We ordered smaller pasta dishes which were the perfect size and were full of flavor (the lobster pasta is spicy!). $$ There is valet and paid street parking.

And Live soulful cocktail music too!!

There is so much to like here! The curbside valet(which the restaurant validates for you!), the live piano and soulful vocals as you enter the bar area, the attentive reception desk and most likely a manager there too and...the food and service are all top notch. Knowledgeable staff, crafted drinks, wine and unique menu items cover just about any taste you might desire. For sure...order the Squid Ink Capanelle! Half portions are plenty. We shared beef short ribs too. Everything was wonderful. Even on a busy Friday night, our food arrived quickly, presented with elegance and cooked to perfection. Delicious, warm bread and cheese were served as we were being seated. Well-done, Marmo!

1st Class Experience!!

Anniversary celebration with 29 guests were served cocktails, table shareables, main course, wine and dessert with a pre-selected menu option. Not only was the food superb in presentation & flavors but the attention by management & staff was 1st class! A special thanks to their valet parking personnel who found and returned a piece of jewelry lost on the sidewalk upon departing. I highly recommend this restaurant anytime without any doubt for a great dinning experience. Thank you Marmo!!!
