Great American breakfast

By BlakievanHemert |

Looking for breakfast after the normal early morning hours, we were referred by locals to this iconic place. They serve lunch as well, but we wanted breakfast and they had all of the options to satisfy our needs. They even offer fresh made juices made of fruit or vegetables.

Great for Brunch

By Debbie P |

Very accommodating for children! Excellent service. Good food. Would definitely go back there. We went with my son and his two toddlers, as it's one of his favorite brunch/lunch places. They had the MOST delicious orange juice!

Fabulous

DARK AND OLD FASHIONED INTERIOR, BUT GOOD FOOD & FRIENDLY SERVICE

By Mercedesbenz |

We were in LA for a wedding and came here for the breakfast the next morning. We asked the hotel for an american breakfast place close by and he recommended this place. It's difficult to find parking, but there are 2 parking spots for customers in the alley behind. My first impression was that it looked dark and dingy. Dark brown wood paneled walls, dark carpet etc. We were ushered to a booth and our coffee and waters were served promptly. Our waitress was friendly. My son and I ordered the veggie scramble with hash browns, hubby had mushroom omelet and my daughter had pancakes with eggs and bacon. We all enjoyed the food. Prices were reasonable (for Westwood, anyway).

Relaxing and good!

Great cozy coffee shop. Loved the wood lined walls and the sevice was spot on. Love that we were not rushed out. The food was tasty. Definitely will be back and close to UCLA Medical.

Awesome breakfasts

By Bandyrobs |

You could pass this by without noticing, you could visit LA without eating here. BIG mistake..HUGE! Lovely family run restaurant which is big and clean and welcoming. Great coffee and food to get the day started. I am sure there maybe other breakfast establishments in LA, but if in Westwood..go here!

Dynamite Turkey Club Sandwich

By jdoud13 |

Order in regular or junior size - delicious roasted turkey, layered with crisp bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato and toast. Other favorites include chicken shish kabob, veggie sandwich, mushroom soup. It's all yummy! Booths and tables alike are roomy. And there is a counter if you're so inclined. Great neighborhood place with an incredibly warm and attentive waitstaff. It's a highlight of the week to lunch there!

Classic westwood diner

By eileeninseattle |

We visited Mary and Robb's while staying in a hotel on Wilshire. We liked it so much, we went back every day for either breakfast or lunch. The menu is large, the service quick and friendly, the booths comfortable and the hash browns delicious. The chandeliers are a nice touch!

Great food

By Nicholas R |

Just randomly found this place on trip advisor and I’m so glad I did. The food and service was simply amazing. I will be back for sure.

Comfort food at its best

By Deina2015 |

Cute little place, very pleasant staff. Will fix any dish the way you want it. Delicious comfort food.

Awesome Breakfast!

By Cissy M |

We ate here while on vacation. The food was amazing! Very fresh! The staff was great and very friendly. We had the Santa Fe omelette (most popular choice I was told) and eggs with bacon, tater tots and toast. These dishes didn't fail. The portions were good sized. We also had coffee and mimosas made from fresh squeezed orange juice. The restaurant itself had a very local feel and it was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a great way to start your day.

Best Restaurant in Westwood Village

By denise s |

Top of the line. The owner knows each one of his regular customers. The food is consistently made to perfection

OK for breakfast

By Larry H |

Convenient location, pleasantly retro atmosphere, but sort of mundane food. Can't say we had a bad meal, but can't say we had a good meal either.

A Great Cafe in Westwood

By David F |

Like all the places along Westwood Blvd this is run by Persians but its a classic American cafe menu. The best french fries ever - crispy on the outside and creamy inside. Great Rubin sandwich. Great burger. Very good friendly service.

What a wonderful find!

By carolanddavid_12 |

We were staying on Wilshire Blvd. and found this spot for breakfast. It is just wonderful- clean, convenient, well staffed, friendly servers, and best of all - delicious food. We returned several times and liked it each time. Perhaps, it really helps that the owner/and or manager were present to greet the customers and oversee things. The manager also made some excellent recommendations for other places to dine in the area. They were all excellent, too!

Authentic diner

By Sameer R |

We had breakfast here on 2 occasions as its a comfortable diner with terrific service. The staff is very friendly, particularly to kids and is quick to refill your coffee. Try the corned beef hash or santa fe scramble as both are great!

Cozy family restaurant with good food.

By pascal s |

Found via TripAdvisor. Don't be fooled by the outside, as soon as you walk in it looks very cozy. Service is very friendly and the food fantastic. We ourselves had the breakfast burrito and the sandwich and washed down with tasty fresh orange juice. Recommended!

A long time favorite in Westwood

By psychjudy |

For an easy late breakfast/lunch this is a classic dinner-like place but with really fresh food. Service is quick and friendly

Excellent Upscale Breakfast

By Jcwill5 |

I found Mary and Robb's on an internet search on a weekend morning, looking for something off campus but close enough to be an easy drive away. We found street parking at 9AM to be plentiful, no wait for a table, the tables well spaced apart, and the atmosphere blessedly free of the din found in so many places. You can have a nice conversation here! Yes, prices for breakfast were on the higher side, but so was the quality of the entrees. My breakfast burrito was generous, exceptionally well seasoned, and upgrading it with the turkey sausage really paid off. My friend enjoyed his french toast and omelet as well and we both left very satisfied by our experience. Staff is friendly and attentive, and we were well cared for by them. I recommend Mary and Robb's if you're not on a strict budget and want a "skip lunch" level splurge on delicious breakfast food.

A throwback to yesteryear

By David D |

Pros: Good food, very friendly owner and great original decor Cons: slow service, a bit pricey for breakfast I think it was an anomaly but appeared to be short a waitress and kitchen staff the day i was there. The breakfast was good but I think each dish was $2-3 more than it should have been. I loved the decor in its original state and all the framed news articles. It was also nice that the owner made the rounds to speak with everyone and actually engaged in conversation. The waitress was also very friendly and had good food recommendations as she knew the menu very well. I would recommend it for breakfast.

Delicious food

By Zayneb K |

My aunt and I have had a meal there during our last visit to LA and the food was very tasty. Their menu is so varied, where there is something for everyone. The staff is friendly and the service is very good.

Eat Brunch here!

By khmz1213 |

We have a daughter at UCLA and like to visit regularly. One of our traditions is Saturday brunch. After reading reviews and the history, we settled here. Great choice! We tried a variety from French toast to eggs Florentine to the Mexican omelet. It was all wonderful and the portions are generous. The staff are friendly and obviously know their clientele. Kim is a hoot! Saturday brunch here will definitely be a part of our visits now.

Absolutely Amazing

By Jodi B |

I have the pleasure of living in this neighborhood and consider Mary and Robb's to be my home away from home. The staff treat you like family and the food is excellent. You won't be disappointed!

Great place for breakfast!

By treysia |

We stopped for breakfast and the place was great! It is a nice restaurant, clean and inviting. Everyone was cheerful and helpful. The food was great. We just wanted a regular breakfast with no fancy additions. There were places to park on the street.

Classic American diner LA style

By Michelle H |

Had brunch at this wood paneled, very comfortable diner- the buttermilk pancakes were first class, very varied menu and great service

A treasure

By shermy1929 |

The room is handsome, the service is caring and the food - mostly classic American - is, well, classic. And the proprietor keeps prices moderate.

Back again for breakfast - MUST HAVE the pancakes

By LV_Lee |

Based on a previous excellent breakfast here, we came back and enjoyed a great breakfast. The pancakes are worth having, even for non-pancake lovers. Good food and service. We will be back - again!

Excellent Breakfast and Service

By keithflow |

We were hungry for a good breakfast and this was recommended and I can see why! The place has some of the best service and food I have seen in a while. I had the chili omelet and hubby had the Santa Fe Scramble. The chili is meat Texas style chili in eggs and it is so tasty. Came with choice of side and choice of bread. If we lived closer, we would be there a lot!

We came back for more

By CCR |

We had supper here one night and liked it so much we came back for breakfast the next day. The prices were a bit high, but the food was really good and plentiful. Friendly service and a good location. Parking was not great, so we took an Uber there second time.

Quiet Restaurant, OK Food

By Pamela A O |

Our LA friends took us here for dinner. It's an old-style (read 1950s or so) restaurant with carpeting and some upholstered booths, so it's fairly quiet. I had a veggie burger with a Mediterranean salad consisting of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, and feta (the last 2 ingredients were added at a cost of $2). My partner had a reuben sandwich with fries. My veggie burger was OK--the bun was fresh and so was the lettuce, and plenty of pickles were available. A small paper cup of what I assume was 1000 Island dressing was also part of the burger, since there was nothing on the bun except the veggie burger, lettuce, and tomato. At my request, additional mayo in the jar was given to me. I've had better veggie burger patties, this one being only OK. We were glad to share the salad, which was largish and refreshing , if a bit pedestrian. I thought the fries were a bit on the oily side, but they were nicely browned otherwise. All in all,it was an OK place; probably not one we would have chosen by ourselves, but genuinely OK.

Excellent

Love love the cafe..always great food and an adult atmosphere..great service and friendly wait staff always

Delicious American style breakfast

By Jammaco |

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast in this classic restaurant. Warm wood panelling, plush booths, friendly, efficient service and delicious food served piping hot. Great coffee is served as soon as you are seated in mugs that are never allowed to get beyond half full. A variety of wonderful loose leaf teas are available too. Omelets or scrambled eggs can be made to order with your choice of ingredients.

Waiting for Expedited Passport

By David H |

Excellent breakfast! I had house made corn beef hash and eggs. What a treat. The walnut, cranberry salad was excellent also. Vitality fresh squeezed juice was amazing. Wonderful place to eat. Thanks

A throwback! Charming spot!

By beth s |

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Feels like a step back in time. Had delicious, fluffy blueberry pancakes. So good.

AWESOME OLD SCHOOL DINER

By OC2005 |

I have been to Westwood many times..how did I miss this gem? Order the pancakes and you will not be disappointed! YUMMM.

Solid breakfast

By dnoj |

My wife and I came here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised! I had the pancakes with a side of bacon and my wife had the french toast. Both were excellent.

Great breakfast

By JJBBMOW |

Visiting LA and would never have seen it-glad I checked trip advisor. A true American diner. Great service and breakfast was really good

Great place for breakfast!

By Richard H |

This place reminds me of a dinner from the 60s or 70s. Extensive menu at reasonable prices. I did make a reservation and we had no wait when we arrive! Very accommodating service! we enjoyed omelets and pancakes. Portion were large and filling. Clean and comfortable. Plan to go back the next time that I am in LA.

If this were next door to my house, I’d eat here every day!

By Rebecca B |

This is a comfortable cafe reminiscent of old-time coffee shops, but the menu is more varied, the food is tastier, and you can have wine or beer with your meal. There are both booths and wooden tables; it’s very popular, so best times to go are maybe a little before or after the most popular meal times. They serve breakfast all day, salads, burgers, sandwiches (both hot and cold), and entrees. Among my favorites: hot roast beef or turkey sandwich, Cobb or Chopped salad, and (drum roll) fresh Mediterranean salmon kabob. Their carrot cake is rich and to die for, as is their famous apple pie. The service is very efficient and friendly, as most are long-time employees, and you can enjoy a meal and conversation without ever feeling rushed. My only issue: being on Westwood Blvd. on Los Angeles’s west side, parking is really tight. I always find a spot, but sometimes it takes going around the block two or three times to get one.

Great food, great service, friedly surrounding, fairly priced.

By mondotraveler |

This is the type of place your dad used to take you to for breakfast or lunch. The food is high quality American fare w/healthy tones - and the pricing is spot on. The staff is friendly and has been there for decades - which is always a good sign. Plus the service is fast. There are quite a few regular customers as well - which is another good sign. I will keep coming back because they offer a complete package.

Had A Good Diner Breakfast....

By JCW703 |

....at Los Angeles prices. The meal we had anywhere else would have cost half of what it cost us ($40 for eggs), but this is LA and prices were appropriate.

Excellent Breakfast

By Jon B |

My wife and I were in LA for the week-end and found this treasure on trip advisor. A very pleasant atmosphere and an excellent meal. We will definitely return and highly recommend this American classic.

Favorite place for breakfast

By mmislove |

We are at Mary & Robb's once or twice a week for breakfast. And an occasional lunch. It is always good, fresh, and served with a smile. Great neighborhood place.

Breakfasts are consistently good

By Frequenttravel1234 |

Had many many breakfasts here and they are consistently good and at a fair price as well. Parking in the morning is generally available on the street.

Incredible breakfast

By Traveler2009 |

This is one of those restaurants that makes you wish you would have rated many other restaurants lower. I am not a big fan of dinners in the US but given that Jan 1st offers limited breakfast options, I had to go in as they were open. First off, when you enter this dinner it’s impossible not to notice that it’s very clean, well lit vs your usual dimly lit dinners environment hiding the dirt and, very important there is no funny smell from old furniture, dirty carpets or bad ventilation —- it actually is a clean environment!! The tables are spotlessly clean and I noticed they spend quite a bit of time and effort between customers to clean and setup The pleasant surprises continues as the staff is quick to react and accurate. Food was very good and actually tasted fresh and clean. Loved the French toast and freshly squeezed orange juice. And when they say fresh we actually had to wait for it to be squeezed !!! Parking is on the street and is pretty easy as the restaurant is located on a major artery. The meter takes change and credit cards. I would definitely give them a strong recommendation and I will return if I’m the area. They are definitely worth a drive

Not What it Used to Be...

By Gwen K |

I've been eating at this restaurant for a decade. It used to be the standard by which I measured all other American old-school diners. Unfortunately, they must have fallen on hard times. The last three or four times the food has deteriorated, e.g., the salmon brochettes was dry and lifeless, the hash browns greasy and burnt, the eggs today tasted liked powdered egg, and four slices of bacon so thin that when stacked on top of each other is the equivalent of one slice of thick cut bacon. Too many downsides; such a shame, they used to be so good. Service is excellent and it still has the American diner ambiance - hope the owner takes notice and brings the former high quality food back!

Very Nice Breakfast

By Roy K |

This is a fabulous American breakfast experience. They have a great menu, a little more expensive that you would expect, however the food is very nice and the service A1. They have nice white tablecloths, which add to the atmosphere of this lovely cafe. Recommended.

Great neighborhood place

By PhDtraveler_11 |

Fast, clean, friendly, you can't ask for more. Always consistent and kind, this is nicer diner food.

We always enjoy breakfast/brunch here

By Xenroner |

We have only visited for breakfast, and the food is generally ok: served hot and tasty. nothing fancy, but consistent

Good Breakfast

By Filmprof |

Several blocks south of Westwood Village, this is a solid cafe that seems to have a following for breakfast. The hash was tasty and crispy and they have a couple of weekday breakfast specials for $5.99 that are certainly a cut above McDonalds or Starbucks. Given that there aren't many options in Westwood Village proper, Mary and Robb's is a nice, nearby option.

Pismo pier

By sally b |

My kids walked on the pier. I didn't. Ages 16, 13 and 11. They said it was pretty, long and a little boring and Cold , but nice. A lot of People fishing'. Many playing the Pokemon game!

Comfort food in Westwood

By David G |

My in-laws love this place and have been coming for years, but I had my introduction just last week! This is definitely a neighborhood cafe with a lot of "regulars". Several times people came in and said "Thanks, but I don't need a menu"!! The waitress was very nice and we very much enjoyed our dinner. My wife had the Cobb Salad and I had the Cali Salmon Burrito (more like a Wrap) which was fantastic!! My in-laws split a "Junior" size club sandwich which was plenty for the both of them!!

Solid Brunch Choice!

By BackRoadsUSA |

Tucked on Westwood Blvd- you can easily miss it and drive right by. Quiet cafe -great counter seating-and plenty of tables! Street metered parking. LARGE breakfasts- go hungry- scrambles-pancakes and more-saw lots of people getting a take out box. I must say I ate all of mine- Sante Fe Scramble-avocado on the side, toast, disappointed they have packets of jam- wish they would get some local homemade jam- especially for the price- but hey... Service is great- someone is always nearby to refill coffee or water- esp. if you sit at the counter! Lots of fresh veggies in the scramble- tasty food-served a tad on the cool side- but hey minor complaint. If you don't need a beach view or patio come here!

Really enjoyed it...and right by Westwood Memorial Gardens!

By ChrisGower1975 |

Went here with the wife and had corned beef hash with extra potatoes. I was MASSIVE! Maybe if you go for this dish, don't ask for the extra potatoes!!! Service was excellent and it is a really lovely spot. Would definitely recommend.

Upscale prices, downscale food...

By Russell F |

I went to this local eatery from a friends recommendation... and was very disappointed. The cheeseburger was overdone and very bland. My daughter ordered the chicken sandwich... the bread was toasted and burnt on one edge, although the chicken was very good. My wife ordered a basic breakfast... poached eggs were perfect, toast was slightly burnt. Here's the kicker -- with each of us having one drink , the bill was $58... for what was basically a very weak denny's style brunch. This restaurant has been at the same location for 37 years... I think it's lost it's spirit.

Great breakfast spot

By Richard W |

The portions are large and delicious. Unless you are super hungry you should consider splitting the meal. We had the chili omelet. One of the best omelets I ever had. Service was fast and very helpful.

Great food

By Nari L |

Great food! I've come here twice now. The first time I got the Mediterranean Salad with Tuna and the second time I got a sandwich. They were both delicious and the portions are very big! Their iced tea is phenomenal! I know I'll def be back here because the people I work with are regulars here.
