One of the better Mediterranean dinners I’ve had in Houston!

By sm28185 |

All do their dishes were decently priced, but definitely had good to large sized portions to match. I ordered the Mixed Grill entree, which was easily large enough for two people to share (but also perfect for someone who can’t make up their mind and is ok with leftovers). All three types of meat came out very fresh and thankfully not dry at all. Both sides of rice and fries were tasty and perfect complements. I also ordered an extra side of the Yogurt and Cucumber mix, which was perfect for our table to share. Mixing in some of their spicy chili paste helped to round out a great mix of flavors (not needed at all, but helpful if you want some extra heat). All in all, a very solid dinner and one I would love to have again.

Houston's Lebanese Jewel

By Jim D |

Mary's is a Houston tradition. I really enjoy the casual atmosphere, the food and the attentive service. The food is always excellent and the service is fairly fast. They have a full bar with a very good variety of draft beers. When the weather is nice, there is nothing better than sitting out on the patio and taking in the scenery and fresh air. I treat myself at Mary'z after a successful day at the office.

Great food!

By Ana P |

This was my second visit to Mary'z and it definitely won't be the last. The food is delicious, fresh, and flavorful. We went for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't very busy. The restaurant is quiet and the staff is welcoming. One of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Houston!

Good Lunch

By Travlerlee |

Had a late lunch with my husband We ate on the patio, it was nice and quiet. We had the sharwamma plate with rice and hummus. The service was good.

Delicious Middle Eastern food

By dustythoughts |

We ordered a bunch of takeout from here, and everything was fantastic! The sampler, the eggplant extravaganza, the hummus, the za'atar flatbread, and the falafel were all great. The portions are pretty big, so a few appetizers were able to satiate a group of six people. The food was ready quickly without losing any freshness, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were friendly.

Every Time I Visit Houston, I Try to Visit Mary'z

By OHWanderingProf |

I love to try new places when I'm traveling. However, some places are worthy of a visit each return trip - Mary'z is high on my list. The menu offers a wide array of Mediterranean choices. A sampler platter from the appetizer list is a great way to get started for those who aren't familiar with falafel, kibbe, stuffed grape leaves and savory pies. (It's also my favorite way to get a little taste of so many things I love.) The little meat pies are the best I've had anywhere! The food quality is excellent as is the service. Even if I've been away for months, they remember me.

Good food. Superexpensive “mandatory” valet parling

By Satriale |

Very good Levane and Mediterranean food. Iconic location rebirth from ashes after the fire if few years ago. One of the few places in Houston with the Kitchen open until 1130pm. Outrageously expensive valet which results pretty mandatory due to the location. It poisons the entire experience

Very different from any Mediterranean I've tasted

By megan e |

Found this restaurant accidentally with my husband. Valet parking. (Attendent was very pleasant) 3 rooms to choose from. Open terrace, inside/ bar, back inside hookah room. Menu had a good selection but no lamb options. Ordered meat grape leaves (lemon base / no tomatoes involved), beef shwarma wrap included pickles, sliced green peppers and onion in toasted pita wrap. It did not include feta or tzikiki sauce. Tasted almost like it had tahini spread in it. Odd. Very different then what we've tasted before. Do not think we will come back.

Food OK, but service lousy

By dbinhou7511 |

Food was OK, especially the lemon potatoes. But the service was not good. Could see food waiting on counter for server to deliver. Had to flag someone down to get any service. AC drips inside.

Mediterranean twist

By KLOTHMAN |

Mediterranean standards with some outliers. Tried the Ful Madamas, not as good as I make, said wifey. Very good veggies.

Good times

By tClep |

Nice place to chill and have good conversation with friends. Easy valet parking (only have to tip, no charge). We enjoyed it because the environment was not overly loud and obnoxious like some places tend to get with many people. Good drinks and hookah.

Great Mediterranean food!

We dined with friends and found this to be a great new place. The service was good. We sat in the bar area and it wasn't too noisy. Everything was very flavorful. Prices were very reasonable. Will definitely return.

Great Find

By tomdB2732IJ |

My sister and I were looking for a good place to eat some international cuisine and we ran across Mary'z on Tripadvisor. It had a good rating so we decided to check it out. It was a little hard to find, but once we began eating we knew it was worth the effort. We ordered Mary'z sampler for an appetizer and were very pleased. We then ordered the mixed-grill to get a feeling for what they serve. The beef tenderloin was the best, but the chicken was also very good. Their hummus was very good too. I would highly recommend and we will be back.

Great Mediterranean Food

By richardg6409 |

Had a quick lunch here just recently. Not usually a fan of middle eastern cuisine but my friend wanted to go here, so off we went. I am glad that I did go, because everything was just better than the usual Mediterranean food I have had before. We ordered just a few appetizers and drinks for a light lunch. The 4 we ordered were stuffed vegetarian grape leaves, Foul Moudammous, Baba Ghannouj and Tabuli. The stuffed grape leaves were just perfect, they were not soggy as they often can be, but were obviously freshly made and delicious. The Baba Ghannouj was one of the best I ever had, the balance of the roasted burnt eggplant was sublime. The Tabuli was great, freshly made out of prime ingredients. I was not a fan of the Foul Moudammous, not really liking fava beans, but my friend loved it. I guess the main point is that everything was done fresh out of really fresh ingredients and you can tell the difference. Not really liking this cuisine and coming away happy and looking forward to coming back is really the highest praise a restaurant can get.

VERY PLEASED Family party

By vsalas |

VERY PLEASED Family party of 3. Excellent food, excellent service. Lamb chops, falafel, kibbi, grape leaves, even the french fries are superb. And the prices are very reasonable. Will come back for sure.

The Best Mediterranean

This place has authentic Lebanese food, it is delicious and it is perfect for any occasion. They have a Hookah sitting area with AC and an outside patio as well as full service bar.

Best hookah destination with amazing food and drinks

By Rajesh J |

So few years back i was taken to this place by a friend who is Lebanese. the food was so good that i have taken a lot of friends there for lunch, and dinner is even better as you can relax have hookah beer and i would recommend the meat platter

Amazing cuisine

By gay e |

First of all it is on Washington, not richmond. It is really well prepared food, authentic and freshly made. A taste treat for Lebanese cuisine, Mira a lovely waitress, this food is over the top good!

What a great find!

By jjm_Texas |

Went for an early dinner yesterday and had a wonderful dinner. The hummus was delicious - and the puffy pita bread was a real treat. The Greek salad was by far the best Greek salad I have ever had. My chicken with tomatoes and peppers was moist, flavorful and a very large portion. The service was very fine - our waiter was conscientious, polite, and efficient.

Absolute BEST Arabic food in The Woodlands!

By Stephani C |

After moving to Texas from California, I had tried so many Arabic restaurants in the Houston area, only to be let down time and time again. That is until someone told me about Maryz. Not only is the food authentic and delicious but its super clean! You are made to feel welcome from the minute you open the door. The staff is very professional and friendly. They always have the freshest food. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Overpriced and Not Worth It

By Jim C |

Ate lunch here since my favorite place wasn't open. The drinks menu was very, very long: apparently booze is the main focus. I ordered shawarma and fried cauliflower. Cauliflower was good, but served with a strange tasting sauce. So-called shawarma was a plate of dry, tasteless beef slivers with onion and a slight amount of tomato and pepper. Another tiny cup of the sauce, and pita in a plastic bag. I ordered a cup of coffee, which was fine, and baklava, which was ok, but not homemade, I think. I don't know whether this place is a scam like the famous ABC Cafe or merely run by incompetent people who don't care, but I won't go again. Two stars instead of one because of a smiling, good-humored busboy and the bathroom, which he cleaned.

Delicious appetizers!

By Gloria L |

The grape leaf dolmas were freshly made tasty. My chef daughter said they were the best she had ever had. We had appetizers made just right and they were tasty with fresh parsley. My husband had a Greek salad with chicken that was cooked with an excellent combinations of spices.

Washington Avenue location completely awesome!!

By CD-HouTx |

We usually eat at the Richmond St. location but missing Mira, and to show her our support we went to the Washington Ave. location last night. We loved the ambience and the patio was awesome. We ordered the beef tenderloin kabob with 2 sides each and hummus for appetizer and we literally cleaned every dish!! Everything was fresh and delicious, however, keep in mind because everything is made to order, your food will take a few minutes to arrive...Be patient because it is totally worth every minute of wait time. The beef tenderloin had a wonderful Mediterranean flavor but was a tiny bit tough, however, would still order again. We usually order the chicken shawarma sandwich with numerous side dishes which NEVER disappoints! I have honestly never gotten any dish that was not wonderful, even though we have our favorites :)

Yumm!

By venture_travel |

Excellent tasting Lebanese food. The grilled mix was awesome. The Chicken Tawook was juicy. The taboule, fattoush, and fired kibbe were excellent. The garlic sauce had great texture, yet needed more garlic flavor into it. Oh, and the hookah was good :-)

find you falafel fix here... but what else?

By Andrea S |

This was a girls night evening with a group of 10. Everyone enjoyed the sampler plates we had for appetizers and the wine was also delicious. The menu was small but offered a good selection of the kind of fare you would expect. There was stuffed grape leaves, falafel, tabbouleh and of course hummus. The appetizer portion of the menu was pretty vast but the entrees were limited. You got your choice of 2 sides along with the entree but I found it strange that the sides came out long before the entree. (not sure if this is customary) The food itself was average, which means tasted good but not great. The hummus was a little bland but everything else was intensely vinegary. My friend had the fish which was supposed to come with pine nuts that were actually almonds. This is not a big deal but it throws you off when you already have a flavor in mind. As for the hookah, we did not partake but it did appear that quite a few people were enjoying it. My bottom line is you could probably do better for food.

I love this place!!

By Larry U |

I dined here in a group of 3 the day before yesterday. I live 80 miles outside Houston so I do not get to eat here as often as I would like. I have dined here about 6 times since someone took me to Mary'z a few months ago. The first time I was amazed at how fresh and tasty the food was. Have tried many menu items in subsequent visits--Everything has been outstanding. Service is attentive and friendly. There is a bar along back wall with several good choices of beer on tap. Some appetizer items I really like are the Kibbi (crunchy fried batter with mInced ground meat inside) and the flaky pastry pie filled with feta or spinach. Among entrees, the chicken or tenderloin kabob and the grilled chicken are all good. Hummus without the meat and the puffy, light bread are a great combination. The cucumber and yogurt salad, Greek salad, and fattouch salad are all wonderful. I wish I could award Mary'z six stars, I like it so well. I definitely will keep going there when I can get to Houston.

Great Lebanese Food!

By TheInveterates |

Great venue for a quick week night dinner, or a longer weekend date. The sirloin kabob was deliciously spiced, and the chicken livers had a very nice pomegranate-based sauce. Wait staff were pleasant and efficient. Prices were very good - most entrees under $17. If you like chicken livers, they were great as an appetizer.

Hire more help

By Traveling P |

We have tried this place multiple times and also tried their new location. Only thing I can say about the franchise is that they need to hire more helpers. They have great food, good hookah and nice happy hour prices but just not enough helpers where their services lack.

Trendy & Tasty

By ellzebeth |

This little spot is cute and trendy on the inside. We were a large group, and the staff were really very accommodating and friendly. Our waitress was friendly and given the size of our group, I'd say she did a pretty good job of taking orders, keeping it all straight and getting food and drink out. The food was good, for the most part, though maybe a little bit salty on some items. Overall a good experience.

Consistantly GREAT food!!

By CD-HouTx |

I have been eating here since they opened in 2005 and I have honestly never had a bad anything. I have eaten 90% of the appetizers offered, half the salads, shawarma sandwiches, kabobs, baklava and rice pudding, and everything is absolutely delicious. My husband and I have a favorite meal that keeps us coming back, sometimes twice in one week, to the point that we are known for it on sight...We each get a chicken shawarma sandwich and share hummus, yogurt cucumber salad, a Greek salad and occasionally taking home several baklava and rice pudding for dessert. I have been eating Lebanese food my whole life; my father's best friend was Lebanese and they use to home cook frequently, so I was thrilled to find Mary'z so close to my home and to my heart...Thank you Mary'z for giving me such a special treat!

Roasted eggplant app is excellent. Mostly, all food was very good

By Morgan2010 |

I like eggplant. This appetizer was awesome – try it. I had the mixed shawarma plate, which was very good. My lady had a beef sandwich – excellent. One of our table had the mixed grill plate – also very good. Baba ghannouj was not a favorite – a bit greasy. We did have some service issues… the waiter did not know what alcohol they had in stock [even after checking, it was fishy] and my food order was messed up. But the errors were quickly corrected.

back to the past

By Donatella Farese |

I love middle eastern food. I have been visiting a lot of middle eastern countries and every time I go to an Arabic restaurant, I always hope to find the same taste and the same quality I used to have there. It is not easy for me to find that, but I found it in Mary’s. Excellent quality of food, fast service without being in a rush and - above all - the welcoming smile of one young lady employed there . Thanks you so much for taking me back to Ayyam al Zaman … the days of the past . I will surely recommend this place and go back again.

Mary'z Lebanese Cuisine - Excellent food

By drsped |

The signage at the restaurant is Mary'z Lebanese Cuisine. The best stuffed grape leaves I have had, hands down. We had half vegetarian and half meat and both were outstanding. Served hot and the spices were perfect. We also had the pies, hummus, shanglish (outstanding), and tabuli. We eat at several Lebanese restaurants throughout the US and I have to say this is the best by far! They don't serve lamb but with all the other choices, I can't say I miss it. Consistently good food and service. Two outdoor patios, inside seating, good wine selection, and parking in the back.

Delicious food

Had such a Delicious Lebanese food after such a long time..... Great Service and very helpful staff.

Amazing food and awesome service

By thejusticeleague |

My family and I have been going to Mary'z for a while now. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is awesome! Also, try the dessert called the "backlafa." We always end the meal off with this dessert.

Fantastic!

By oktourist |

The family was wanting something different for dinner and I remember that a Lebanese co-worker had recommended Mary'z for authentic Lebanese/Medditarrean food. So off we went to Mary'z. We went to the location on Washington Avenue, which has a patio. We dined inside. The atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. Seemed to be a great place for a romantic dinner, as well as dinner for a family of 5. Lebanese food was totally new to us, so first thing we ordered was the sampler that included many things on their menu. Each of us had a different dish for our main course. Everything was delicious and very flavorful! I agree with a previous poster that the tenderloin kabob was delicious and so tender! It was all very affordable and even we took quite a bit home. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. With all the appetizers, drinks, and the meals, I think it averaged less than $20 per person. I am so glad that my friend recommended this place. I am certain we'll be back!

pretty good

By PAUL S |

The food was pretty good. There are many choices in Houston for Lebanese, otherwise would have rated higher..

As good as it gets

By Anver Q |

Met up with 4 friends for dinner. The restaurant was great, the service first class and the food was superb - as good as if we were in the Middle East. Definitely on my list of places to go back to next time I am in Houston.

Pick up food

By Merxzina |

It is very sad to see how q good restaurant is going downhill, the place is very pleasant but the staff in the kitchen seemed careless and the food is not as good as it used to be. Owners should pay more attention to this location. Only the Latin girl at the front was professional. I placed an order and when I got home I found out my order was incomplete! It was a very frustrating experience

Delicious, authentic, quiet

By Blanchard726 |

Perfect lunch at Mary'z. We dined late, about 2 pm. Restaurant was nearly empty, quiet, and perfect for a couple to sit in a booth together and relax. Food was served hot and was delicious. Tasted authentic. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Go -to hookah bar

By Mimi Jodam |

My currently fav hookah place! Out of all the hookah places I've been to I like their patio the best! They have comfy lounge couches so you can sit and talk to your friends. Their food is really good! Also very big portions as well. Every entree item comes with two outrageously big sides that can feed about 3-4 ppl! Food comes out 15-20 mins, which is really good for this place. Our waiter comes to check on us periodically ( I was very shocked on how he kept up with us even though he was pretty busy). The hookah is really good ( get the grape mint hookah!) and it lasts longer than the average hookahs I've had in the past. The waiter does change the coal every 20 mins or so ( good thing we don't have to chase the hookah man down like the other places I've been to!) I will definitely recommend this place. P.S. They have valet !
