Great little restaurant close to Seattle Center!

By Murray W |

Uncertain where to eat when staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites, on a rainy night we went for a walk and found this very good Mediterranean restaurant within easy walking distance of the hotel. The food was tasty, the portions were very generous and more than we expected, and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant was not busy, but that was no reflection on the quality of the food. The meal was served promptly and our server was friendly, courteous, and helpful. If you enjoy authentic Lebanese food and are in the area of the Seattle Center I recommend trying this restaurant out. We will certainly go back if we are staying at the Hampton Inn again.

Great flavours

By Scott W |

Ate here on new years eve going into 2017. Service was fast and polite. Food was delicious. We started with hummus and beef croquettes. I had the combo kabob for main which was a sizeable portion with a wide range of strong flavours. Lots of mint, onion and spices. I would definitely eat here again next time I'm in Seattle. This made for a great start to the 2017 nye celebrations.

Outstanding Med Food

By Guildenstern |

Excellent food and highly attentive service. The portions are enormous... and come with a dal-like lentil soup and salad as well. Everything was well done. Good place to bring friends, and take time with over dinner. The fried cauliflower is a standout, as was the chicken shwarma.

You need to go here!!

By John M |

A definite must is you are in downtown Seattle. After a long day driving and visiting Chilhuly, we headed towards Belltown based on a recommendation from the guy in gift shop who used to live in Richmond near my neighborhood. Was it a good choice!!! We found Mashawi. There was nobody in the front half when we walked in, so almost left since a dead restaurant is typically not a good sign. After looking at the menu I liked the choices and was hungry so I stayed. According to the waitress there is a theater crowd that had just left. Within 15 minutes the front half was full again. I got he lamb kabobs with a salad. You have a soup option instead of the salad but I am not a lentils fan. My only complaint was with the salad, the dressing and peppers were just awesome but please some other greens beside iceberg lettuce, please. The lamb kabobs were cooked perfectly and the sauce was awesome. The hummus and roti were tasty as well. A full bed of rice made for an authentic and filling dish. The service was great, the atmosphere relaxing. You need to go here!!!!! Oh, the prices are reasonable too. More than reasonable considering the downtown location.

Fantastic

We’ve eaten middle eastern food all over the world. Stopped in for lunch. Amazing! Super fresh, delicious. Some of the best we’ve ever had. Super clean restaurant too. Definitely will be back!

Great meal

Food was very good, large portions, served hot and well presented. Wait staff very attentive. Will definitely return. Location close to Seattle Center so perfect spot for dinner before attending an event.

Perfect for business lunch - fresh/affordable

By loveDCA |

I love coming to Mashawi Mediterranean for business lunches because it's relatively quiet, the food is freshly prepared, and the service is great. I'd also been here for dinner and the same holds true.

disappointing, undercooked food

By Gerards770 |

We booked reservations early (5:00) so we could get to a performance on time at the Seattle Center. Although the restaurant posts that it is open for business at 5:00, the person who kept us outside in the cold said she did so because no one else was there, including the cook. The food we ordered was undercooked. The soup tasted like it was from a can. We had lamb shank that was like rubber. Couldn't finish the meal. Definitely got to the performance on time. Would NOT recommend this restaurant.

Interesting menu

By chrismk |

A pleasant surprise where we enjoyed an excellent meal. My ouzi was beautifully presented, the chicken very tasty and moist with a lovely crunch from the almonds. Service was excellent and friendly. Highly recommended.

Best Lebanese cuisine!!!

By ontheroadlovetravel |

Party in your mouth with the amazing flavors offered here. Now this was the smoky Lebanese Baba ganoush I remember having years ago in Chicago. The pita would have been even better warmed up. The food came fast. A delicious aromatic lentil soup was offered. I got an amazing spicy salmon dish ! Just wish it had more than two asparagus. My husband got the vegetarian platter. All good! Amazing dolmas. Waiter was excellent.

Genuine and tasty

By Andrea D |

I had dinner in this fabulous restaurant at least 6 times during my business trip to Seattle. Great service and food for a honest price! I loved their cous cous and I would love to have a similar place here in Dublin. If I stay at the Maxwell for the next trip, I will not miss the occasion to visit this place once again! Highly Recommended!

Delicious!

Excellent food- great selection, very well prepared, good size portions. Definitely recommend! Service very good also

I Wish I Went Here My 1st Night In Seattle

By jmacBoston |

I came to Seattle for a 5 day visit with my son and on our last night, we ate at Mashawi. The service was great and the food was amazing! The only "problem" was the portions are so huge you are sure to have tons of leftovers. While this wouldn't normally be a problem, it was to us because we are flying back home tomorrow, so we cannot take the leftovers with us. That's why I wish we went to Mashawi on our 1st night instead of our last night. I highly recommend this place!

Scrumptious!

By SheHeartsEarth |

Love the vibe created with the lovely decorating - simple yet sophisticated. REALLY enjoyed our lunch here! Super tasty!

Incredible Lamb Shawarma!

By R W |

Went here for dinner with a couple of friends after it was recommended by some other friends. I have to say that we were blown away! Cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff. We were seated immediately and our food arrived in a very timely manor. I had the lamb shawarma. It was served on a large platter, over a bed of rice with tihani sauce, Pita bread on the side. I have a large appetite and I couldn't finish it all. In fact, all the servings were large. We had to reassure our server that we loved the food...just couldn't finish it all. Definitely on my list to visit again.

Pleasant surprise

By sak706 |

Ate here on a recent trip to Seattle, We were having a bite here and there as we explored the neighborhood. My husband and I shared the Veggie platter, we were not disappointed. Normally I don't mind sharing, but the food was so flavorful I wanted it all to myself, secretly hoping he would not like it.Lucky for me the portions were generous, so I did not leave hungry. I do not confuse quantity with quality, good flavors here, worth a visit.

Fly in my drink...ok food

By Archie |

We came in on a mon night. It was just us. There was one server. We ordered moscow mule and half way through found a fly in my drink. Not even sure how that can happen with cocktails. Pretty much threw the rest of our night off. Our server made us another drink but still charged us for it. The food was ok chicken lacks seasoning...we ordered shwarma, and chef curry with chicken. It was huge platters served with rice and veg.

A hidden gem near Seattle Center

By Ughhh |

The food and staff here are lovely and, while it has gained in popularity over time, it's still a great place to get away from the Seattle Center tourist crowds.

Good quality Lebanese style food

By K5181EObills |

We all enjoyed our food and the service was great! My vegetarian special was excellent. My friends all enjoyed their various meat dishes as well. They do serve beer and wine, which is not apparent from the online menu.

Tons of flavor, great service

By Yvonne C |

It is very close to Seattle Center so it makes a great spot for dinner before a show at McCaw Hall or other venues there. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had slight food envy as my wife's dinner was more flavorful than mine (she had the combo kabab and I had the lamb shank--leftovers for lamb shank were better the next day). They had Lebanese wine for an option which was my first experience and it was delicious.

Authentic, yummy, generous, near McCaw Hall & Seattle Center

By Jody_11 |

I was looking for a supper place near McCaw Hall before the ballet, and am very happy we found Mashawi. I think this will now be my go-to place before or after events at Seattle Center. I love family-run restaurants -- it was clear our server was one of the family, we asked him a bit about Lebanon's olive oil ("the best" of course he said). Being my first time, I hadn't an idea of how generous the portions were -- we were hungry but ended up taking home about half our food. The main entrees include a soup (it was a yellow pea/lentil this night), a small salad (nothing to write home about but fresh, crispy romaine with house dressing), and very generous plates. I ordered the lamb shank with couscous, it was good, but next time I think I'll order lamb kabob, shanks are not as tasty; somehow in my hunger I was drawn to the promised large portion (huge would be a better word). We also ordered the fried cauliflower appetizer, which was superb; we had a half carafe of wine, it was a fine accompaniment.

Great find

By KimChaos99 |

Was returning from Seattle center and walked by...and decided to stop for lunch. SO glad I did. Falafel and tabbouleh are fantastic, and service friendly and quick. Sad to be leaving the area or I would eat there again.

Scrumptious Shwerma

By Bevworldtravel |

Enjoyed a delicious and reasonably priced dinner here with my hubby- fantastic service to boot! He’s vegetarian and found the falafel delightful, my chicken shwerma was a generous portion, enjoyed the lentil soup too.

Good Times, Good Food, Good Prices at Mashawi

By BigO1969 |

The wife, the kid and I stumbled in here from our hotel down the road, and ended up pleasantly surprised by every aspect of the meal. From the warmth of the owner who let us in early for dinner (we were reading the menu in the window out front) and who also served as our de facto waiter until the female server started her shift, to the top-notch lentil soup (find me more restaurants in 2014 who serve soup AND salad included with every entrée), to the even-better North African Chicken, Beef Tenderloin Kabob, and ubiquitous-but-delicious Mediterranean Vegetarian Combo Plate, toss in a glass of $6.50 house wine and a $50 tab, and you know what you've got? You've got a restaurant I'd go back to in a heartbeat.

Can't fault it!

By Sue C |

Decided to try this place just a few doors down from where we are staying not based on any review or recommendation. It was excellent! My husband and I shared a mixed meze plate which consisted of three dips, falafel, fried cauliflower, beans and tabouli. We also had the shish taouk. It was way too much food but all excellent. One of the best falafels I've ever had.

Great tastes with nice extras

By Squid397 |

We each ordered just one main each and a drink, but these were served with bread, salads and so on. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I really enjoyed my lamb kebab. Efficient and friendly service.

Uninspired Vegetarian Fare - not terrible but not great

By Alaskanworker |

We are vegetarians and ordered the hummus, which was very good. We both ordered the falafel dinners which were both over-priced, pretty flavorless and messy looking. The falafels were undercooked and tasted like they were made a couple of days before, not crispy. These were served on a bed of romaine lettuce with a couple of grape tomatoes. The entire mess was coverred with a taseless sauce. No rice, no hummus, no feta, just falafels and lettuce - ugh! And the price was $17.00! I reallly should have asked for something else. Service was fine. The decor was not reflective of the food and the 1980's classic rock music was just weird. Next time I will just stick to the Falafel King downtown as it is so much better and less $.

Tasty Lebanese & mediterranean style food

By VSOP_AOC |

I have been to Mashawi a couple of times now. I really like it. It has a varied menu, prices are good, and portions are generous. I had the lamb shawarma, that was delicious. The first time there was a lentil soup that I loved. The second time the soup was not so inspired, but good. The place is simple, but offers a relaxing atmosphere, friendly service and good food for little money. Sure to come back!

Good Food and Large Servings

By Robert S |

We didn't read reviews before we went here, and were very pleased with the experience. The decor is not special, but the varied menu gave many offerings. Service was attentive and fast (although we were there early for supper). Main course servings were very generous -- easily enough for two meals. A very nice find for good Mediterranean food at reasonable prices.

Surprising gem

By aligator423uf |

My husband and I popped in for dinner one night while visiting the Seattle area. We were both pleasantly surprised by this little place - amazing, authentic flavors paired with quick, friendly service. Give it a try!

Perfection!

By ScottyG777 |

This is a FANTASTIC restaurant! We're so glad that we stopped here. We were walking around looking for a place to eat (staying at the Hampton Inn) and checked the Yelp app and this restaurant got great reviews so we decided to give it a try. What a find! The service was top notch, super friendly and fast. The food was as good as anything that either of us have had, especially for this style of food. The portions were huge and the price was great. We were too full for dessert but I'm guessing that it was as spectacular as the entrees were. I highly recommend Mashawi.

A taste of the Mediterrean

By Tim066 |

The restaurant is located next to the Seattle Center. It offers prompt quality food by a courteous staff. Both of us had the lentil soup and gyros plate. It was ample in size, very tasty and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and eat there again on my next Seattle trip.

Great Mediterranean Place!

By KLE_Ridgefield |

We chose this place to eat dinner on our way to the Queen concert. We're vegetarian, and were very pleased with the mezza appetizer platter: The falafel was good, though thicker? moister? than some. Tabouli was good. Hummus and baba were great. Not sure what to do with a whole plate of Lebnah, but it was very good. The cauliflower dish was truly divine (with tahini sauce). We ran out of bread early (onlty 2 pitas for 2 people). The Lebanese white wine by the glass was great. Service was uniformly great--top notch. They refilled my water glass w/o asking, and checked on us frequently. Very happy.

Contented diners all around...

By WorldTravellerBC |

We happened to stay at a hotel close by and chose to eat here instead of heading to Lower Queen Anne establishments...what a good choice! Decor was nothing to write about but the service and food distracted you from this. Friendly staff who knew the menu and made great suggestions. The Mediterranean dishes were excellent, the dajaj mashawi, kafta and grilled lamb - although the chicken "shish tawouk" was a bit on the dry side - the house garlic sauce was amazing and please ensure that you do not mind garlic. Prices were exceptionally reasonable for the quantity and quality of food. Although we were tempted to share an appetizer, we were wise not to as the main courses were more than adequate; many people we observed took their leftovers home! A really nice find!

Excellent restaurant

By Julia K |

The restaurant has not really many parking lot of the car. We had to park the car far away, but we weren't upset as after a nourishing dinner it is possible to walk a little. Restaurant inside cozy, clean, polite waiters. Before going to restaurant it is desirable to reserve a table. When mudflows at a table brought to us Hummus with flat cake, a fried cauliflower, brought soup probably on lentil a bit later. Combo Kabob (three look meat and rice) and Mashawi Combination (meat, seafood and rice) was the most important dishes. All meat was excellent average pro-frying, juicy and moderately with spices. So everything was tasty and much that we couldn't master everything at once, took remained home.

Excellent Lebanese cuisine

By Bill H |

The best baba ganouj I ever had. Unusual and delicious lentil soup. Loved the North African chicken. Very nice vibe and not expensive.

Very nice

By Mgcbad |

Restaurant serves very good food and staff is very helpful. The favors were all excellent and beyond my expectations. Would certainly recommend this place and personally will be back when I return to the area on business.

Yummy and Convenient

By Nola L |

My husband and I were looking for a post-matinee treat near Seattle Center. We come to the neighborhood five or six times a year, but this was our first time at Mashawi. It's fairly new. The menu is fairly short but offers a range of items to suit varied tastes. The service was prompt and very welcoming. My husband had the lamb kebab, and I had the lamb shank Both were excellent. The baklava was a revelation, flaky and not soggy or super-sweet. We'll definitely return!

Excellent!!

By Stefan B |

After years we finally stopped here again. The food is awesome as always. Simply excellent!! Highly recommended!

One of the best mediterranean restaurants in the area

By Ivafan |

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We had in mind as it is conveniently located to the Mccaw Hall where we were to attend the ballet. Service was prompt and friendly. The salmon was slightly spiced but so delicious that I had to pace my self as it was a big serving. My wife's was also excellent but just grilled. You must love garlic (we do) as we had to be discrete at the theater. We love the food in this place.

Not impressed

By HBH2336 |

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and I would never go back again. The restaurant was very clean and appeared nice. Our server was not attentive at all (we were one of a few patrons). She never took our drink order and when she approached our table she took our food order after we waited for an extended period of time. My son later ordered a drink, but it never came. The portions were HUGE! If I would've known how big the portions were I never would have ordered an appetizer. The hummus did not have much flavor other than super garlicy. I still had the flavor in my mouth the next morning. I got the peanut chicken which was drowned in peanut sauce, I couldn't tell what was chicken or veggie since it was so buried in sauce. My husband like the salmon. My boys got a chicken dish (can't recall name) which was VERY dry. Just not impressed at all!

Close to Seattle Center

By carolina04311 |

Food came from kitchen much too fast. We had salad, appetizers and entre within minutes. Done in 1/2 hours. Not an 'evening of dining!' Loved the food.

Not what it was

By seattlejpm |

We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years but sadly the quality of the food has really dropped. The garlicky chicken wings had the usual great sauce but the wings themselves were insipid, as though they hadn't been marinated at all. My wife's combo kebab was also very disappointing: The lamb was very tough, and the kafta was super dry. Additionally they stopped serving hummus as part of dinner and the service has also dropped. Our water wasn't replenished until we had finished eating. All in all, very disappointing.

Great find

By TracyEdmunds |

We were the only people in this place on a rainy night and the staff was very attentive and pleasant. The food was absolutely delicious! The decor is modern and pleasant. We definitely got a lot for our money and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Lovin' the Lebanese

By davontheroad |

early dinner, Sunday evening excellent service--friendly & fast nice décor--interesting wine rack shared a Vegetarian Combo Platter & side of grape leaves We give the platter an "A" the grape leaves an "A+" especially good were the hummus & the baba ganoush while the falafel just ok (too doughy) Would happily go back next time in Seattle

Great food

By jeanedz |

Always great food. They were great with taking a dish back my son wasn't fond of and suggesting a more kid friendly chicken dish. Great service as always.

Delicious!

By Sorrel S |

Very generous portions of very tasty food! We started with the Mezze plate and that was almost a meal in itself :). The service was excellent and the ambience very pleasant.

THIS IS NOT AN AUTHENTIC MEDETIRANEAN RESTAURANT!!!!

By Efrat T |

I’ll start with some good things: it’s clean and ONLY A FEW of the dishes have nice seasoning (the soup and the hummus). HOWEVER, if you are looking for an authentic Mediterranean grilled meat-you will be VERY DISAPPOINTATED. The three of us ordered chicken: shish kebabs and Ouzi. The chicken tasted as if it was boiled and put under the TOSTER to give it some color. It didn’t taste or smelled like grilled chicken that was taken from the BBQ. As a matter of fact, when one enters the restaurant there is no scent of BBQ in the air. The salad that they offer is DEFINITELY not MEDETIRANEAN! They serve ICEBERG LETTUCE, WITH ONE SLICE OF TOMATO ALL SOCKED IN CHEAP GARLIC SOUCE THAT ONE CAN BUY AT THE STORE. IT WAS DISCUSTING! Over all a big disappointment and it doesn’t worth the money

Delicious

By bradswanson1 |

Very good, authentic Mediterranean food! Highly recommended. We tried the combo kebab and chicken schwarma. Hummus was also very good.

True to its rating

By traveling_2some |

We decided to give Mashawi a try as it is close to the hotel we were staying at and the ratings were good. The food was super tasty, ingredients were fresh and everything prepared and plated beautifuly. No kids menu but the restaurant was willing to simplify menu items by putting sauce on the side and leaving unwanted items (onions) off.... Ect ect ect but the point is they did so happily. Everyone left full and happy. Great meal!

Fantastic evening spent with Cosmos

By SueandKaren |

The warmth and enthusiasm by the staff made for a memorable evening. The cosmos were great but the dinner was outstanding. Great flavors in authentic homemade recipes. Enjoyable

Best Lebanese west of the Mississippi

By twintipbunny |

I went with my mother, who typically does not like 'exotic' food, but she thought it was the best med she's ever had. I've eaten several mid-east style food and this was the best I've had outside Baltimore. Very good. Plenty of food and all at a good price. I was very happy.

Average middle eastern restaurant

By Errol S |

On a recent vacation to Seattle we ate here mainly because it was about a block from our hotel. Portions are very generous, prices are reasonable (for Seattle) and the food just average.

Delicious

By Rhiar23 |

We've been meaning to try Mashawi for some time and recently made it for dinner. They were very accommodating with us (it was a busy evening and we had no reservation). I'm sorry it took us so long and we will definitely make this one of our 'go to' places from now on. Our meal was delicious, The dolmathes were great, nice and subtle. The lamb shawarma was wonderful as well. Years ago this location was the Mediterranean Cafe, then it was Asian Breeze and now it's Mashawi. It's nice to have good Mediterranean food back in the neighborhood. The Mediterranean Cafe set a high standard, to be sure, and Mashawi more than meets it.

Another wonderful meal in Seattle

By ladyhawkcs |

Food was flavorful and perfect. Took half of it back to our hotel since there was too much to eat and we didn't even order an appetizer.

Total Disappointment

By allenw78 |

Went here while visiting Seattle for a weekend. We saw high ratings and were totally unhappy with almost everything in this establishment. Both my wife and I ordered the large salad for $12 and added gyros for another $5. My wife asked to hold the onions. They complied but also put no onions on my salad. The size of the salad was on the small side for $17. We were part of a group of 10. We ordered our lunch and were not served for 40 minutes. Unacceptable. When we complained, they said they had a takeout order before ours. We are from Chicago and in our traveling, we have had Gyros at least 50 times including in Greece. This gyros tasted like home made hamburger with no pork or lamb and seasoned with the appropriate seasoning. It just did not like gyros. How the rankings are 4 1-2 stars, I cannot figure out. The other plates with chicken and beef were overpowered with rice rather than protein. There are too many options in Seattle rather than settle for a sub par menu. Avoid this joint.

Nice Dinner before Attending an Opera

By James C |

My wife, my grandson (15 years old), and I had a nice dinner at Mashawi before attending a performance of THE WICKED ADVENTURES OF COUNT ORY at Seattle Opera. The service was excellent (fast, attentive, and friendly), and the setting was very nice. The food was also quite good. (My wife and I split an order of the "Lamb Kabob," and our grandson, who had consumed a big lunch, made a valiant effort to eat an order of the "Combo Kabob" on his own.) The wine list was also good and, in my opinion, quite reasonably priced. Potential diners should be aware that the dinner portions at this place are quite large and that two people with fairly typical appetites can (as my wife and I did) share one order. It might also be useful to note that this place seems quite practiced at serving people who are planning to attend a Seattle Opera performance after eating dinner there.

Slipped a bit

By 100QA |

The food has slipped from the early days. Pros: rice and chicken are cooked well, portions are sufficient. Cons: pricey and not as flavorful as it used to be. They no longer include hummus with dishes. The salad and soup as side dishes are not good.

Super Find!

By KenandDoug |

We were going to another restaurant nearby that was closed. And walked by this, with it's interesting menu. And wow, what a find. The staff were great, everyone in our party of 8 loved their dinners. The menu was reasonably priced, with salad and soup included. Really a great find. We are from outside Seattle, but will go back here for sure if in the neighbourhood.

You will leave full and pleased

By Vancouvermarina |

While staying in hotel close by, I and my seven year old son were looking for place to have dinner. Most restaurants on our way were Asian. Mashawi stand out and we walked in to check out menu. We stayed and had fantastic experience. The interior is nothing spectacular, but cosy and clean. I was a bit puzzled why one wall was uncovered concret. But decided it must be part of design which a did not understand. The menu has great variety including vegitarian meals and fish. The portions are huge and before your meal they serve a delicious soup and salat. To be honest after the soup and salat I was ready to stop. Serving was fast but not too fast to make you feel rushed. Prises first looked a bit high for the type of food, but after the fact I found it more than fair. Average entry price is $17. They serve alcohol. No bar. Seems only beer and wine. All wines go by bottle or glass. The verdict-I highly recommend tying out this place. You will see yourself going there more then once.

Middle-east Delight

By kateleo54 |

Loved the baba ganoosh, hummous, and Moraccan stew. plus they actually had a good wine list. The service was good and the cost reasonable.

Great food nice atmosphere

By Plynn631 |

I stumbled on this restaurant while walking to another. I had the combo kabob and the lamb, steak, and chicken were all very good. I even have left overs. Conveniently located near Seattle center.

Highly Recommended!

By MarshalltownMan |

I stayed at Hotel Maxwell up the street with my kids and we ate here on our last night in Seattle. What a great place! Delicious food, huge portions, great service, and an atmosphere that is casual yet elegant. The prices were very fair. Nice variety on menu. I suspect that the man who waited on us was the owner; he was very professional, humble and efficient.

Food was just good

By Mary K |

Food was made well but not so flavorful. Had better elsewhere. Since it was just okay, I wouldn't return again. Not what I expected from the reviews.

Good takeout dinner

By RU2WA |

While staying at the one of the hotels we decided to try some new places. We ordered takeout and were quite pleased with the quality of the food. I had shish tawouk and salad, it was almost too much food for one person. I couldn't even try hummus, too much food.

Good Lebanese food!

By Celita Welsch |

This restaurant wasn't so nice as I thought would be, however my husband loved the lamb with rice. As they use real lamb and not a mixture of ground beef and ground lamb as I had in others mediterranean restaurant before I found it very chewing but the taste was nice. Very friendly and good service. I believe that with so many options I would go back and check again.

Enticing Mediterranean Flavors near the Seattle Center

By oestbear |

Yesterday, we found a high-quality, hardy dinner with the enticing flavors of the Middle-East only ½ block from the Maxwell Hotel on Roy Street, just one block from the Seattle Center. The name of the restaurant is Mashawi. We made reservations and were glad we did as all tables filled quickly with happy locals dressed in Seattle-casual as well as opera-goers dressed in tuxedos and evening dresses. While it was wet and cold outside, it was warm and welcoming inside. The menu provided many options, but everything looked so good it was hard to make our choices. With help from our waiter we were quickly enjoying baba ganoosh and spanakopita as appetizers, balanced with a bottle of incredible Lebanese wine (a deep fruity blend of Sarah, Cab Franc & Cab with tones of black pepper). As our first course my wife enjoyed a pea soup with cumin over-tones while I enjoyed a large, salad of very fresh greens, cucumber chunks and tomatoes lightly tossed with a mysteriously wonderful house dressing. Having learned the owner/chefs were experts at Middle-east style grilling, for our entrees I ordered the large “Combo Kabob” platter (spiced ground lamb, marinated chicken and beef) over saffron rice. My wife ordered Ouzi, a traditional Lebanese dish of basmati rice, vermicelli, peas and spices topped with grilled lamb, almonds, pine nuts. Needless to say, we wound up sharing these plates. Unfortunately, when our waiter asked us about desert, we had no room left for the amazing looking baklava or cheese cake. -- Today, we lunched on the boxed left-overs from yesterday’s amazing dinner.

We will return

By MaryFromOly |

My husband and I had a very pleasant dinner at Mashawi. It was a Friday evening; we were attending a play at 7:30 in the Seattle Center, so we had an early dinner--consquently Mashawi was fairly empty and quiet. I hope it filled up later, because the food, wine, dining room decor, and service were all terrific. When I go to a good Middle Eastern restaurant, it's very hard to select a meal because so many of the menu items sound so good--Mashawi is no exception. When we finally made up our minds, we were both pleased with our dinners. Alert: the entrees are huge! Not a drawback, of course, and if large portions are important to you, Mashawi will satisfy on that point. We don't live in Seattle, but we are looking forward to an opportunity to return to this restaurant.

Authentic Food - Efficient Even When Crowded

By FBAGoddess |

I spent some time in the Mediterranean - the menu and chef has some great authentic Lebanese and other Mediterranean selections. The owner accommodated my "in-between" reservation time. We came here for a dinner before an event at the Seattle Center and I was really impressed at how they managed to get everyone out on time! I will definitely come back and bring others.

Great location for Seattle Center events- lots of food, good quality

By Pepper |

Huge heaping plates of food- but as some other people have said, just average quality. My grilled chicken was good, but the eggplant was a little like well flavored cement. Salads were big but basic- and the deserts were pretty basic too. Still there was a lot of food for your dollar - You could easily take half home and have it for lunch or dinner the next day. Service was good and our waiter was personable. Nothing wrong with this food but its not delicious- just serviceable. Still, I'd return- its so convenient- and it was fast. Not every meal has to be an " event".

So good!

By Alexis C |

It was super crowded when my friend and I arrived, we were looking at an hour wait, but the waiter squeezed us in and we were not disappointed! We have the vegetarian combo plate and it was very yummy! I wish I could make it back before I leave, but the next time I'm in town, I'll be going back!

Phenomenal Middle Eastern food

By AlexisRF |

Love love love this place. I love Mediterranean food and am very picky about it. Having traveled to Istanbul and ate my way through that city, I know what good authentic Med food is. This place hits my gastronomy juices right on target. It is a small well run establishment that serve authentic and delicious food. The service is outstanding. I have a feeling that our server is one of the family members. He gave us a really great recommendation for me. I had the Shish Tawouk which I would never have selected if it weren't for his recommendation. I still think about my meal here because it took be back to Istanbul which is one of my favorite dining destinations. Hurry up and get a meal at this place.

pretty good food, service is little bit slow

The food we ordered was pretty good, but service was little bit slow. We had to wait quite a while before we got our food and that was little bit of an issue since we were there to see a show later

Great Lebanese Food

By Rob_Bob85 |

I've been looking for some authentic style Lebanese food for quite a while now and this place definately does a fantastic job. Delicious falafel and fattoush salad. The look of the restaurant is pretty cool and staff were friendly. We came on a weekday afternoon so it was pretty quiet (closed at 2pm!) but I can imagine it getting busier towards the weekends and evenings. Not too sure what the rest of the Med style menu but if it's anything like it's Lebanese it must be great,

Nice tasty meal

Mashawi is just a few steps from our hotel in Roy Street so we went for dinner one evening having read the various good reviews. I chose the lamb kebabs and my wife had the African chicken. These were really good and tasty with spicy (but not too spicy) sauces. The meal you pay for includes soup (it was lentil when we were there), salad, rice and pitta bread - in fact that was far too much for us - a regular complaint about eating out in the USA (I know they offer take-out boxes so you can take home what you don't eat, but that's not the point - just provide less to start with). Anyway, this was a very pleasant meal, with friendly family staff, and the food was very tasty.

Ouzi & Sharma generous serving & excellent service

By Patti W |

Delicious, quick, friendly, reasonable prices for very generous portions and close to Seattle Center Opera house (across from mercer parking garage). I recommend having ice chest in your car for left overs. We loved the Ouzi $15 shredded lamb with pine nuts, peas and sauce over rices and the beef shawarma $14.5 with saute cabbage, onions, tomatoes, and tahini sauce, Both entrees come with soup or salad. Salad had a great dressing loaded with garlic.

Kids loved the gyro and shawarma

Best Mediterranean food the kids say they have ever had Mid range prices, fantastic food and very nice service

Great for Takeout!

By frojjy |

We were staying at the Maxwell Hotel and Mashawi was just steps away. We didn't feel like getting out one evening and got this to go and ate it in the room. Fabulous. Try the fried cauliflower! It's delicious! Huge portions, great flavor and no indigestion later! What more could you ask for?

Very good Middle Eastern food

Roy Street in the Queen Anne neighborhood has lots of small restaurants, and this is definitely a good one. Easy street parking or quick walk from the Space Needle. Plenty of vegetarian options, and the Vegetarian Combo was delicious (especially the fried cauliflower).

A Little Gem

By Nonnieof3 |

We didn't know anything about Mashawi when we wanted to have an early dinner before a concert at Seattle Center. We were surprised that the restaurant was almost full. We were seated promptly without a reservation. We ordered a Lebanese wine to match our food and it was very pleasant, similar to a Bordeaux blend. We had a hummus appetizer and it was the creamiest I've ever eaten, delicious. My husband ordered lamb shawarma, he loved the blend of warm spices and the play of textures. My dinner was Dajaj Mashawi, spiced, broiled chicken thighs with garlic lemon sauce was very good. Again the spices made the dish. The rice served was also delicious. Our server was very efficient, he seemed to be covering most of the room and was almost running. Our portions were very large, enough for another meal. By the time we left the wait time for a table was an hour. Next time we'll make a reservation. Don't hesitate to try Mashawi, it's a wonderful surprise!

Fabulous Find!

Wonderful flavors, huge portions and the plates were gorgeous works of art. Even our kids, who are average adventurous eaters, loved trying the menu. Salmon is excellent, as is the hummus plate.

Perfect Light food

By restats |

The soup, a split pea, was excellent followed by a light salad and then the main courses, a lamb kabob and North African chicken. Both we exceptionally well seasoned and reasonably priced. We'll be back.

delicious & super affordable Mediterranean food.

By tcck55210 |

went here for a work lunch & we ordered lamb kabob, lamb gyros, chicken curry, & lamb shawarmas: all so delicious! plenty of garlic flavor & everything was about $9-$11 each, which is awesome considering petra (also damn delicious) is closer to $17/entree. great option for lunch or some take away food. don't miss this new gem.

Mediocre Food; Dishonest Approach

By flahooley |

My dad and I went between the matinee and evening performance at Seattle Rep. It is close to Seattle Rep, and they take reservations. We decided to split that Mezza plate to start, then order more if we wanted it. (The Mezza plate is $26 and lists numerous appetizers by name.) The food was mediocre. The pita bread was clearly not made on sight. Things were OK, but nothing delicious. We were surprised that the kalamata olives that were promised were 3 that were used to garnish dishes. When the Kibbeh didn't arrive, we asked where it was. The waitress informed us there was a typo, and even though it was listed on the menu as being included, we would not be getting it. (She did not inform us of this when we ordered it.) Finally, after we complained and complained, they agreed to provide what was listed but it left a metaphoric, as well as a literal, bad taste in my mouth. If you don't want to provide what your menu says a dish includes, as the VERY least, you should inform the customers when they order. I don't go to restaurants to have to argue. I would stay far away!

Slipped A Bit On Flavor

By 100QA |

Pros:generous , well cooked portions, quality ingredients and good rice , take out, good staff...clean upbeat interior. Cons:the combo dishes are good but our old favorite Dajaj mashawi no longer comes with humus and is much less flavorful than it used to be. The soup or salad that accompanies combo dishes have never been appealing.

A fest

By Elizabeth M |

Arrived in the city late; need a bite to eat. Stopped in at Mashawi. I ordered the lamb kabob and my husband ordered the combo kabob. Each came with a soup and salad. The soup of the day was lentil beans. The side of humus was great. Both dishes were wonderful.

A great welcome

By wlsachs |

We went for dinner shortly after arriving in Seattle. Mashawi is close to the hotel where we stayed. We felt like we were reconnecting with old friends. The meal was delicious, service was superb, portions abundant, prices reasonable. Wish there was a Mashawi near our home.

Fabulous food at a small little cozy restaurant

By ChivasG |

We, a group of 10, landed in this small little restaurant primarily because we did not want to go too far from the hotel we were staying at. But, what unfolded was an outstanding dinner. One of the best Mediterranean cuisine I have ever tasted. The vegetarian choice - hummus, Zhara, Baba Ghanouj, was superbly cooked. Some of the best falafel I have had. And their house made Baklava was amazing!! A wholesome meal that left a lingering flavor in the mouth.

Everything was delicious

By shs0827 |

Great Mediterranean restaurant near our hotel. The food was so tasteful and so well prepared. Everyone in our group enjoyed their dish. The staff was accommodating and responsive. I have food allergies and they made every effort to address that. It was a relaxed and lovely atmosphere.

Outstanding food

By Guildenstern |

Absolutely wonderful food... and enough for two meals. All was good - the African chicken, the shwarma, the lamb kabobs, the falafel, the hummus. Try the fried cauliflower appetizer, which was extraordinary. Only downside is the lack of street parking.

Okay, but needs basmati rice

By USAGerman |

We eat at a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants and this one is one we felt was mediocre. I have never seen a Middle Eastern restaurant that uses Uncle Ben's rice in my life until this one. Basmati rice is the norm and it was sorely missing here. We ordered the chicken shawurma, the chicken mishwi, and the lamb shish kabob. The chicken shawurma meat tasted good, but they put it over rice instead of pita bread which was expected. The pita bread that accompanied the dish was authentic and good. The chicken mishwi was half half, mainly because chicken thighs were used instead of breast. The lamb shish kabob was tasty and the lamb was well cooked. Portions were large, but all were covered in the house garlic sauce. Personally, I would have preferred it without and scraped the sauce from my meat. Attentive staff who kept our water glasses filled throughout the meal.

Very tasty

By j_loder1 |

It's a small restaurant off the beaten path, but the food is worth the trip. The spices are strong and very tasty. The chicken kabob was delicious. The portions are very generous. The service was also great.

Wonderful experience

Everyone smiled. So friendly. Loved the house and decoration. Service was friendly and kind. Tried the rice noodles medium spice with tofu and chicken. Loved it

Location not impressive, but food is reason to go

Nice break from all the fish restaurants in town. Very busy, need reservations, service slow. Neighborhood near the Seattle Center, and much building going on.

Bery Good Food!

By Dan C |

We had dinner here before an opera. Food was excellent! I had the salmon Samaki Harrah, and it was one of the best salmon dishes I have ever been served. Staff and service were also good. We will be back.

Quaint with excellent food

By Linda B |

This restaurant was on a list of "within walking distance" recommendations from the hotel where we were staying. We were pleasantly surprised. It's a small restaurant and they serve excellent food. We had the hummus appetizer, which is served with warm pita bread and pickled turnips. The turnips some so good!! I had the prawn plate, which is served with lentil soup and salad. The lentil soup had a cinnamon flavor to it that was very good. The salad had a very light citrus vinaigrette. The meal came with saffron rice and vegetables and was $14.95! A great bargain. I would definitely eat here again.

Phenomenal!

By Loracmom2boys |

We went to Mario's for pizza - 45 minute wait fir a pie. Then went to Bahn for Thai - it was closed. I'm a believer in fate. We were meant to have dinner here. We shared hummus, baba ghanouj and cauliflower - amazing. My husband and I shared the combo. Portions are large. Others had the wings, curry chicken and Ouzio. For sure try this place!!

Wow! Great Service, Great Food

By BriMan |

I travel a lot, and for some reason when I travel, I looks to eat Mediterranean food. I have been all over the US and to Greece. This place is authentic as it gets. The food is fantastic. The menu is massive and they have really provided awesome choices and selection. This place is great for couples and for business meetings. The atmosphere is upscale and the restaurant has a couple of rooms, so it feels really intimate. The service is fantastic. The waiter will help you with wine pairings if you need it. I took my wife here and she really liked it. The portion sizes tend to be large, so you may want to split an main dish or plan to bring stuff home. The appetizers are fantastic -- we ended up getting 3 appetizers and splitting them between us. It was a great time and the place was quiet. Definitely recommend!

Warning: Be ready to shell out additional 8 dollars if splitting meals

By sameer g |

Food was ok (I liked the taste of Mediterranean Kitchen much much better). Service felt a bit wanting. I was served small plates for the soup/flatbread. Then no larger plates were brought out. We ate in the smaller ones... I'm fine with this but was kind'a strange for sure. I'd read reviews saying the meals were on the larger side...so when ordering we ordered 3 dishes amongst the 4 of us. We were told we'd be charged 8 dollars extra for 2 of us. Not sure I'm a fan of this... just raise your price so we know beforehand. We ended up ordering another entrée. And now here's the kicker... the portions served were not that large (Mediterranean Kitchen in Bellevue or Kirkland for e.g. has significantly larger portions and no 8 dollar tax). I will not visit again.
