Something Different and Fun with Good Food

By JPHauck |

This place is loaded with wrestling gear to meet your dreams. Not much for ambiance, but the food is amazing. Everything I have ever eaten here is tasty and fresh and the service is super friendly. Its like going to a friends house for a meal, but in a bright cafe way.

Excellent!

Food was excellent! Place was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Traveling through to Austin from tulsa and pulled off to try! Will definitely come back! Sauces are very good. Ordered the guacamole. Was fresh with plenty of chips. Only Pepsi products. Serves beer also.

Awesome Mexican street tacos

By Bill H |

The name and decor of Maskaras are both tributes to Mexican wrestling, and the food is Mexican street-style tacos and flautas, not Tex Mex. This was our first visit, and we were super impressed with the immaculate cleanliness and the genuinely friendly staff. The thing that really jumps out at you about the food is how fresh all the ingredients are. We ordered several items, and everything was delicious. My only quibble is that the lighting is a bit bright for my taste, but most people probably won't care about that. Maskaras is a real gem!

Drown my Tacos

By JPHauck |

The best dish I ever had. Drown tacos. Oh my. Crispy tacos swimming in a sauce with picked onions. Loved it so much. Have been back since for more.

Lucha libre theme and tacos

The place concept is nice, the locations is ok, the cleanliness is outstanding. The staff was very friendly from the beggining and they took the time to explain the menu.

Not worth the price

This place is over hyped. Yes, the decor is nice and very entertaining but we did not like the food. Birria tacos not worth the $3.50 each, over priced and very salty.

Decor alone is worth the trip

PROS *The lucha libre decor is so well done that I must have taken like 10-12 photos. *Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. *Decent torta. *Dessert options such as fried Twinkie looked enticing. CONS *The bread used for the torta is quality, but I just don’t think it works for a torta.

Great Real Mexican Tacos, Novel Decor

By Theresa L |

This scrupulously clean, bright and fresh restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Food is fresh, exactly like you would get at a street vendor's in Mexico City. Service was fast and friendly, with a wide variety of sauces available to please everyone from the hottest spice junkie to a wimpy palate like mine. A great intro to their food is the House special taco - beef, salas, slice of avocado on two small but perfect tortillas - just right for adding the correct amount of heat for your taste. The deco is one of the most extensive displays of Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling) memorabilia I've ever seen. From vintage posters to full size mannikins in full mask and costumes to collectable dolls, including Hulk Hogan and John Cena, there is everything you ever thought of and more. I foresee a lot of quick suppers here in my future. Oh and they do take out.

Fun theme

One of the better chile rellanos in the last few decades. FIne dining? No. Fun dining? Yes! Overall the food was a lot better than price would suggest. We came from out of town. We never would have found it if out kids didn't live in the neighborhood. This was a HUGE step above most of the Dallas Observer "Best of..." places we tried in the last 4 days.

Fun place great food.

Was there for the first time and the food was great. Casual atmosphere great for the family. All the food tasted great. The meat was seasoned very well and all fresh. Will be returning for sure! They have thw cutest hotdogs that look like octopuses...great for my toddler.

Perfect spot for Instagram pics or wrestling fans

If you're a wrestling fan and/or looking for an instagram spot then this place is a must for the unique decor. The owner was working the register and he went out of his way to be friendly with everyone in line.

mexican wrestling fans unite & grab a bite!

saw this on a netflix series about regional tacos and it looked cool. we stopped while deriving through dallas and were pleased to find it was at a strip mall rather than downtown, so it was easy to find a parking spot! the place is a virtual museum of mexican wrestling souvenirs, which makes for a great setting. their specialty is tacos ahogados (drowned tacos), but the quesabirria tacos with consome were off the hook.
