Just when I thought perfection wasn’t achievable , along comes Mastros steakhouse in Houston. Everything from the minute you land in their valet area , right down to the Butter cake for dessert was awesome. Bravo.

Doors open and you are in Vegas, upscale classy place, the staff and service are great.. steak came in first before the sushi tower.. weird main-course coming before the appetizers.. but it was not a deal breaker.. I would leave off ordering sushi (lets just save that for uchi or Roka) the steak is perfect.. order the butter cake! And try getting a table close to the pool/water fall .. will definitely be back here again!

We tried Mastro’s for a business dinner rather than one of the other classic and highly rated Houston steakhouses. We were looking forward to our time, but disappointed from the very beginning. The restaurant is below average when it comes to a nice steakhouse in Houston. The atmosphere was terrible. The room was dark you could not read your Menu and then the menu itself was size 6 font. The noise level was deafening meaning we had to yell at each other. The service was good as was the food, but the overall experienced subpar. The 20 minute wait for ours cars at the end despite not many people checking out was a perfect cap to the night. What we learned? Stick with the classics.

This is where you go for a nice second or third or with friends . It is expensive but worth it . The seafood salad is great but ask to go easy on the cheese . Steaks are great . Hot rock is great . It is expensive . Cheapest things there outside of a simple salad is $25 + and about $50+ for main. Bread is to die for !!!! Love musoc inside bit the patio is second to none! GO!

I have been here twice for business functions. The first time I was seated near the waterfalls. I was initially very impressed but soon realized that it would be quite hard to have a normal conversation because the water was very loud. The seafood display was very impressive but the sashimi and sushi was just so so for a place of this caliber. The Signature Lemon Drop cocktail was quite good though. The second time I was invited to an event in one of the private rooms. The room was very cozy and intimate. Perfect for the event. My salad had way too much dressing. My Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection. However, two of the people I was seated with were disappointed that their Filet was more medium well instead of the medium rare they requested. I was very disappointed with the sides though. The cream corn seemed liked it was out of can. The mash potatoes appeared to be from a powdered package and the broccoli is something you would find at a watered down Asian buffet. After dinner we hung out at one of the two bars and ordered some whiskey from a good selection of premium alcohol. There was a live band and the place was quite full. The atmosphere was very lively. The service was decent. Nothing spectacular. For such an impressive place I was not blown away. I would come back but this place would not be the first choice on my list. Which really is too bad considering that it is part of the swanky Post Oak Hotel.

Update to initial post: I would like to post a quick update to my Mother's Day Mastro's review. One of the managers just called me and gave us a credit of $250 (with no expiration) to dine there again. She was the same manager I spoke to that day. She was apologetic, took full responsibility and was a pleasure to talk to. I am excited to try it again soon. Original post: I just returned from Mastro's for Mother's day lunch. I wanted so badly to love it but it was lacking in both service and food. As a reference, the restaurant was never more than ⅔ full (being generous here). We arrived and were seated promptly and they honored our last minute booth request. Our server came to the table and was personable and knowledgable. The bacon steak appetizer was fantastic and they were able to modify it to not include the maple glaze. Although I didn't eat the bread, it was an assortment and looked fabulous. It was very cold in the restaurant and so I asked one of our waiter's helpers if I could have a coffee (half decaf and half regular) He said our waiter would have to help us. The waiter came shortly thereafter and I got my coffee quickly. We waited a long time for our food to come, much longer than we waited for our app. We ordered our steak (Kobe' tomahawk) rare, which we always do. I have never seen, nor tried, such a rare steak. I tried it just in case but it was like eating a steak out of the fridge. It was like it never even went near any heat. We eat our steak rare everywhere else but we sent it back. After we sent it back, It came back cooked perfectly, but was lacking flavor, especially for a Wagyu. Creamed spinach and Brussel sprouts were average. Lobster tails were below par. Twice baked potatoes were the best I have ever had. After receiving the unflavorful steak, I asked 3 different helpers for prepared horseradish over a 25 minute span, while I waited to eat my cold ($140) steak. Each one said I had to speak with the waiter. The waiter had 3 other tables (one of them large) that he was helping. The last time I asked, I asked to speak to a manager. She was apologetic and said it would be a teaching moment for the helpers. At this point I wasn't hungry anymore (and I had waited a minimum of 30 minutes for horseradish) and everyone at the table was ready to go. I just had her box it up. She asked if we wanted desert (unclear if she was offering a comp) but we don't eat dessert so I declined. I was really surprised when the bill came and nothing had been comped. Not even a side dish. The bill was $400 before tip for 3 people. We will not be returning. Hugely disappointed. Not at all the type of service i would expect from a place of this caliber. Our waiter was excellent and I understand they get busy but I am unsure as to what exactly the support staff was supposed to be doing if not helping the server. They need to assign each server less tables or get better helpers.

We made reservations three weeks in advance. I requested the quietest place in the restaurant as we had my 87 year old mother in law in our party of 8. We arrive to find a singles party happy hour occurring right next to our table. And not only that they had placed velvet ropes so close to our table that we could barely get in and seated. It was horrible. And the “workers/waitresses” ignored us for first 20 minutes while they chatted with each other. Finally got one of the managers attention. Although he tried to be helpful it clearly wasn’t the place for us. Finally the happy hour ended and then the loud band began. We couldn’t even talk. The food was mediocre at best. Steaks were blah. Oysters Rockefeller is much better at Joyce’s. And cheaper. Side dishes were mush. Daughters sushi was gross. She couldn’t eat it. And to top it off the prices were astronomical. The atmosphere was horrible. If you are under 30 and want a pick up spot then go. If you want a nice good meal then go to either Ruth Chris, Eddie Vs, Pappas Bros or Tony’s! Do not go here!!! Been a life long Houstonian. Will never darken the doors of this place again!! Didn’t even stay for the dessert!

Having a reservation doesn't mean a thing in this restaurant, plus the fact that the hostess was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional to say the least. Food good, and servers work hard for their tips. As for the atmosphere, it has lost it. During weekdays no atmosphere, just a musician with 2 speakers that blow directly into your ears.

Very good meat, a good variety of cuts and different denominations of origin, super good atmosphere. I recommend it as one of the best in Houston

My expectations for Mastro’s Steakhouse was extremely high... Maybe a bit too high. The staff & service was Beyond 5* The atmosphere was 5*. The food fell short, I don’t think the preparation was bad, I just believe the quality was not there. I ordered the 22oz Bone In Ribeye $57. The quality just wasn’t there. The reviews on the twice baked potato was high... mine was overcooked. Others in my party were happy with the fillet and other choices. I will give this place one more try, just because it really is a 5* location.& I will try something else next time.

I have dined at many Mastro’s across the country over many years. Always a great experience. The Houston location however takes good food, excellent service, and perfect ambiance to a new level. Execution is flawless and effortless. Weather you are looking for a full meal, dessert, or just a drink, this Mastro’s is perfect.

Delicious food and beverage. Every bite on the table was good. Great service too. Scallops at Mastro’s are always a hit.

We went to dinner for my wife's birthday with a group of friends. We were seated more than an hour later than our reservation time. However, the staff and the management were very frindly and we were offered free aperitifs and later appetizers at the table. Overall it was a very good experience thanks to the good food and great service. However, the restaurant is very very noisy. At constant 85 to 89 dB noise level, it is impossible to hold a conversation other than the person next to you.

My family of four went here to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from college. We loved everything about our experience. The food, service, and ambience were all A+ superlative! We started with the shrimp cocktail as a shared appetizer, which had a cool presentation smoking with dried ice underneath. Shrimp were large, fresh and sweet. For entrees, three of us got a filet. We’ve eaten at all of the finest steakhouses in Houston (Steak 48, Taste of Texas, Pappas, Brenner’s, Fleming’s, McCormick & Schmick, etc, etc.) and we all agreed this was the best steak we’ve ever eaten. I like my steak rare and mine was so tender it melted in my mouth. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass (lightly breaded and pan grilled) and it was delicious as well. We got creamed corn and garlic mashed for sides, and they were also on point. For dessert, we shared the butter cake with vanilla ice cream on top. Sickest cake I’ve ever eaten. My family is pretty hard to please in restaurants, and we were all totally satisfied. Not a single complaint (a rarity for us, lol). The ambience had a cool, casual vibe. We liked the vibe much better than Steak 48, which feels snooty and stuffy. The bar may be the coolest I’ve ever seen and the bar side of the restaurant opens to an outside patio with a waterfall. A cool added bonus is it’s in the same parking lot as the Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Bugatti dealership, and we had fun looking at the cars as we drove in and out. You can’t find a better restaurant experience. (See my food pics below.)

As the title states... we’ve been to every Mastro’s Steakhouse in the U.S.!!! And this will be the last one until Landry’s open a new one!!! Our last night of dining before we head home to Florida Saturday morning. After a short walk from the Post Oak Hotel, we arrived on time with our reservations at 7:30pm. The hostess sat us at a nice booth table against the wall with a view across the entire dining room. Live singers and entertainment echoed thru our dinner. Our server SYDNEY and her partner CELSO were polite, friendly, on point with their service, and on top of their game!!! A bottle of 2015 Kongsgaard Chardonnay started our evening. JULIE, the House Sommelier, poured our wine which was classic Napa County, distinctive taste, graceful flavorful fruity notes!!! So YUMMY!!! Thanks Julie!!! We ordered a few apps... the house special twisted Quail, and three pieces of shrimp cocktail. The quail has that nice fried flavor, with a buffalo chicken sauce that gave a nice head sweat heat!!! Yum!!! We always go for the fresh cold shrimp cocktail which was nice large sized, delightful and yummy. For our main course, my love ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon, and I ordered the double bone in pork chop. Both entrees were grilled perfectly of medium rare and the pork was a perfect medium!!! A nice side of the cream corn and the mega sized potato strings balanced off our Delish meal!!! We had a nice surprise by Sydney who presented a butter cake, with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a side of house made whipped cream with a candle. Happy Birthday to my Annie!!! Oh so sweet!!!A must have even if your full!!! A nice touch to have SAM, one of the managers, to stop by to check and see if everything was good with our dinner, then the memories came back... this was the same manager who we met at Mastro’s in NYC back in January when he was there to train a few new employees and we had a very nice conversation then while we had a cocktail at the bar before dinner. So he told us about Mastro’s Houston where he was a manager and we informed him that we will be heading to the Post Oak Hotel to stay in May and will be dining here in Houston. What a small world!!! He also introduced the G.M. NICK, to us, who he shared our great story with... awesome!!! Overall, we love Mastro’s Steakhouse, Landry’s property and Mr. T.F. His steakhouses are above the rest. Great food, extensive wine list, superior service, and stellar decor and ambiance!!! We will be back!!! Enjoy!!! 🥩🥩🥩🥔🥔🥔

I have been to Mastro’s all over the country and this is the best. Service is great- Ashley in addition to a server is a trained sommelier. Every course is spectacular. The seafood tower is a must. The colossal shrimp cocktail comes as an amazing presentation on dry ice. The steak has incredible flavor. The crab gnocchi and lobster Mac are the best. But the absolute must is the warm butter cake. Ok the scene.... do not come underdressed. The bar is incredible, perfect to watch the game or to taste their extensive cocktail list. There is a water wall area that would be perfect for an engagement or anniversary. There is also a glimpse into the powerful corporate community in Houston. The female contingency does not disappoint, maintenance level at a peak. The back room is less active for a quiet dinner. There is fantastic live music. They deserve a tip on your way out. Valet only parking $5. Don’t miss the turn in right AFTER the Bentley dealership.

We got to try different foods. All of them mediocre. My salad was (Mediterranean salad) was lettuce, tomatoes and blue cheese swimming on tons of mayo. The sushi rolls were poorly made- the supermarket sushi rolls are much better than the ones at Mastro’s. The seafood was ok, but I have had fresher seafood at other places. As for the service, the waitress was nice but it took us close to 30 minutes to get the bill. Oh! Almost forgot to mention that we were screaming at each other. The music was very loud, so everyone had to scream to be heard.... horrible! $450 for 4 people. I think we would have been better going to Red Lobster:/ Won’t be back!

hey, great time with my company. unless you have low expectations, stay away the parking, absolutely horrible. expect a big valet charge $900+ for total bill for 4. drinks and dinner was ok, but not worth it at all, a big problem with the forgetful/lost waitress, but the other service guys made up for it, maybe they got most of the gratuity a little strange at the end when the dim lights went into full illumination, like at a bar or strip club.

A good friend of mine invited us for dinner at mastro’s in Houston, I was exited as it was our first time going to mastros when we arrived waited for about 15 min for our table in the patio which we requested, it was loud and busy I did enjoy the live music and band. It took a while for the server to bring our drinks and it took him even longer to get our orders basically we had to wait allot for our waiter. Food was ok nothing extraordinary we ordered a porterhouse steak and the lamb chops Mac and cheese and potatoes augratin (the potatoes were my favorite btw) I’m not sure if all mastros steak houses are the same but I wasn’t impressed

Organized a business dinner at Mastro’s in Houston. The menu had a great selection of steaks and seafood. I had the ahi tuna and it was excellent. Service was good but not outstanding. Terrific wine list and the desserts were excellent. We had a small private room and that was perfect for our group. If we would have been in the main dining room the noise would have been an issue.

We decided to try Mastro's for our weekly dinner out. We arrived right on time for our reservation, but when we opened the door it was deafening. They didn't have our table and said it would be at least 15 minutes before one freed up so we decided to bag it and go to one of our regular spots - called them first to check that they had a table for us. I don't think we would ever go back - too noisy, they overbook and it seemed like a crowd we didn't feel comfortable with.

Context: there were 5 of us there for a business dinner. Definitely an upscale vibe, and dress code. First impression: they only have valet parking available, and there were a dozen people waiting to greet you, so there was a strong service impression that did not disappoint throughout the night. Aaron was our waiter, and he and his team did a great job. There is indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor under a permanent roof and cooled. We sat outdoors, and were quite pleased with the ambience, especially the wall-based waterfall and small pond. Beverages: huge wine list and sommelier available to help with decisions, and to serve the bottles. A lot of unique liquor-based drinks that were very well received. The alcohol prices will certainly grab your attention. Food: excellent from the customized seafood tower to salads to the massive prime ribeye to the filets and desserts. Mashed potato lobster was unique and very good. The steak bacon did not live up to expectations, as it was rather fatty. I will not hesitate to visit when in town again. Interestingly, they called me the following day to ask for feedback and see if I wanted to place another reservation. The place was packed on a Thursday night, so I'd recommend reservations.

I wish I could rate this place 6 Stars. Made reservations for my wife's birthday. Once we were dropped off the experience started. The valets opened the door and all I can say is "WOW"!!!! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Since we got there a little early I was able to walk around and check out the place. Atmosphere is simply amazing and the décor is so high end I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. We were seated promptly at 5:30 pm at a beautiful table near the waterfall and then stepped in Kevin our server for the evening. One of the most conscientious and polite servers I have ever encountered. He knew everything about the menu and also about the restaurant. He has a wonderful sense of humor and he took care of our every need while dining. My wife and I have eaten at a lot of high end restaurants from all over but this one is number #1 on the list. I actually think the prices are to low for the quality of food and the atmosphere and service you receive. All of the staff were on top of everything and always smiled and said hello or how can I help you. Thanks for all of the staff at Mastro's for making my wife's birthday one of the most memorable experiences ever in her life. I had a great experience to and hopefully you can hire 30 more people like Kevin. I almost forgot can we say "Butter Cake"??? Absolutely slamming. Sincerely, The Glovers

Way too loud, too dark, menu print is smaller than a 9 font, bar is lively, but we were looking for a quiet steak venue. Service was excellent, food was good, but way too pricey, and if you are a Landry's member, leave your card home, they do not honor it!

We had dinner here mid-week. HITS: - The venue is visually stunning. - Our server was excellent (The busser, not so much). - The chef’s cut, NY strip steak was outstanding... ample, well seasoned, juicy and tender. - The seafood tower *ingredients were fresh and quite tasty. - truffle mushrooms side, excellent. - Salad at room temperature, my wife’s measure of a restaurants potential. - The butter cake was sublime and lived up to the hype. - They pour a nice drink. MISSES: - The venue is TOO LOUD. We couldn’t have a conversation. And had trouble hearing the server. It killed the vibe... - The venue was too dark; coupled with the tiny font on the menu made us look for the candid camera. Server confirmed it’s a problem. - Already tiny men’s room with an unnecessary attendant... The space is too small. - Overall, PQR was disappointing. Wines priced at 3-4 x retail. * $22 for 6 oysters...? $600 (with wine) tab for three, before gratuity. The 80%+ male clientele was reminiscent of ‘80s boom town Houston. Did they get the memo on no more business ent. deductions? I expect at least a few of the above misses to be corrected in a few months, before I will consider another try. There’s too much excellent competition in this town...

Our first experience at Mastro's was a fail. Aside from having drinks spilled on us and no comp or real apology we decided to give Mastro's a second chance with just a party of 2 vs party of 7. For our special anniversary dinner we gave Mastro's a second chance. Unfortunately, the dining experience was no better than the first. Our order included 22oz Bone in Ribeye, 22 oz Rack of Lamb both medium rare, Scalloped Potatoes, Cream of Spinach and a bottle of wine. Our food arrives and our sides were good but steak and lamb were well done. The servers took everything back (steaks and sides) and said they would make everything again. I did try the spinach and it was tasty. Second round was rare but the 400 degree plate cooked the meat to our desired temperature. However, the scalloped potatoes were underdone(raw). They replaced it with a different side dish (twice baked potato) which was the best dish of the night. The manager said they would take care for the potatoes. The bill came, they end up charging us for the potatoes...fine...but also for an extra bottle of wine. I had to speak to the manager to clear up the mistake. I had to pull out my calculator. They did fix the bill plus credited the sides but didn't seem to be happy about it. For a fine dining experience, we should not have had to send food back for being overcooked/undercooked then mess up on the bill. Happy anniversary to us!

Although I liked this place a lot and would recommend it for business meals or special occasions, it is so packed on a Monday... my Gosh that was not nice. Guess they are so successful they need more space: tables were so close to each other that I got nervous an accident could happen when my waiter was bringing my food over. Other than that, food is amazing (got a light dinner, though: Sushi roles, but man, what a sushi!)

I had to visit , I've been to mastros in Vegas and its actually a favorite of mine. The setup here is different but beautiful. I wouldnt come here for a romantic dinner, its a bit loud, I feel like there should be more separation from the main dining area and bar area. The food was excellent, my steak was made as I like, medium rare and the crisp on top was what made me love it even more. Best mac I have ever had also. The waterwall area is a beautiful touch, I loved that. There was live music when on the night I visited and the band did awesome. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive, I forgot her name. Overall I would visit again just not in a formal aspect, I may try happy hour and sit near the water.

Nothing special about it’s food. It’s the same high caloric American steakhouse like Norton. Not my kind of place

Food was 4/5 - caviar and oysters were amazing, salad was nothing special. Thanks to our server Alexandra we had a very pleasant stay at Mastro’s. Other members of the staff are very friendly and helpful - and really did everything they could to make my fiancé and me feel welcomed and special.

Title says it all; very high end; good quality food and service; however prices are stratospheric, so will break the wallet for most.

Went here after work one night while in town. The steaks are top notch and the sides were decent as well. I had the 14oz bone in filet and a coworker had the tuna, both were prepared very well. I did think that the place was a little overpriced based upon other places that I have been to but eh, I didn’t pay. I liked that they had live music during a week night...it was a Wednesday night. Not sure if that is a regular occurrence or not.

I will never be back. My server: AMAZING. Restaurant’s invisible polices: HORRIBLE. No cake cutting service & tried to bar outside cake but changed their mind and allowed it. No “professional” cameras but my guest is not a “professional”. It is not her fault she can afford an actual camera. Believe it or not, iphones are phones, not cameras. To say only phones are allowed for photos is weird. No consistency in enforcing these invisible policies. Table near us had their flash on and a “professional camera” with a Mastro’s employee taking their pics for them LOL. No one said anything until we had ours on. Seemed obviously biased and inconsistent. Stick to your own rules and enforce them ACROSS the board. My friend was seated on the other side of the restaurant and had her flash on all night with 0 reprimands. We will never be back. It’s 2024, on a Saturday night. Get with the times, and times are rapidly changing. We want to go out and have a good time, not go out and feel like we are in elementary school being monitored by hall monitors. “Flash” and camera type should be least of Mastro’s worries when guests are coming in half naked and POORLY dressed. Ordered the A5 Wagyu, it was full of fat! $150 steak that was 60% fat is diabolical. Either way I tipped my server $500 CASH on top of the 18% gratuity and a $2500 bill; and gave the other guy clearing our table $100. Customers keep restaurants in business. If a group of women taking photos is such a farce, moving forward we will go to Vic & Anthony’s or Steak48 where nobody cares and the food is impeccable 🥰🥰

I am a Mastro’s brand fan- hence the 4 stars. Been to Scottsdale and frequent Beverly Hills location. BH is very upscale and has a piano player on 2nd floor. I agree with another reviewer- the Houston location is cross between upscale and sports bar. The loud thumping club music feels out of place with the venue. The entertainment was good but still loud. I might have had more tolerance for the noise but I was staying at post oak hotel across the way that has loud club music playing everywhere- lobby, bars, pool, hallways... it’s a 24 hour loop in my head- then I went to Mastro’s and heard the same...Mastro’s has a great outdoor fountain framing outdoor dining area- it would be great to be able to hear that sound instead the musak. The drinks and food were great as usual. The bartenders superb. I probably wouldn’t return to this local because of atmosphere.

My wife and I arrived at 5:45p for a 6:00p reservation and were immediately seated upon being greeted by the hostess. From the moment I walked in I knew I would like the restaurant. The ambiance was upbeat and energetic yet many aspects of the restaurant still paid homage to the classic steakhouses and chophouses of old. Elegant lighting, rich colors, white tablecloths, service staff in formal attire, wine adorning the walls, etc. My wife and I, upon being seated, were greeted by our server and his waitstaff colleagues, all of whom took excellent care of us throughout our 3 hour dinner. To speak about the food, it was just on another level compared to many other upper-echelon restaurants in Houston. From the first bite of Hudson Valley Foie Gras to the final bite of my complimentary birthday cake, the "Chocolate Sin Cake", my wife and I were in Gastronomy Heaven. The wine selection (a big deal to me) was phenomenal and we were able to find a solid value wine in no time. We especially enjoyed talking a good while with one of the Advanced Sommeliers in the house, which is always a pleasure. The final touch of being able to pay via tablet at our table was really neat. All-in-all this was every bit as much of the exquisite dining experience I hoped it would be. We'll be back!

The valet is where the service ends here. Food was good. We went 3/1 with a large group of friends. Problem 1 they won't seat party's of 12 together. Problem number 2 the service speed at the different tables is way off. Problem 3 the waitress is not smart enough to put all the left overs in the bag. Problem number 4 , which is why I am taking the time to write this review. One I realized all my left overs were not in the bag I called and asked for the General Manager. Who ever answered said he was not in and if he was not coming in one of the other managers would call me back to discuss my issues. Well, one week later from my phone call ...NO CALL. I read an article the other day that Mr. Fertitta was quoted as saying his sales are down $1 million a day. Maybe he should take a look at management and procedures. Maybe they should try to take care of the customers.

Mastro’s Steakhouse Houston We wanted a new place so we tried Mastro's for My Birthday Dinner! yes... Another One thank God Excellent food and Atmosphere Manager Nick Burbach super professional You Must try the salmon and seafood tower and of course blacken Rib Eye Steaks great Wine selection outstanding deserts so good get your own u wont want to share lol My birthday and to great surprise we meet Tillman J. Friendly guy and I guess he owns it he said thanks for having your birthday with us. Tilman funny last weekend we wrote a great review of our stay at San Luis Pleasure Hotel he owns great to meet him never knew he owned this place too. Classy Upscale Not Stuffy, large lounge, live music, great outdoor patio, and nice interior. Mastro's upscale yet NOT stuffy place and quality service and food and your never know who you’ll bump into in this swanky place Go there selections fabulous ask to sit by blue waterfall on patio. Bryon and His Angel

Enjoyed a nice happy hour at this recently opened venue. Wonderful atmosphere and patio seating. Place is certainly becoming a hot spot. Extensive wine list for all tastes too. Didn't stay for dinner but if anything like LVNV establishment Houston won't disappoint Would suggest fewer high top tables in bar area so everyone isn't bumping into each others chairs.

We are fans of the Mastro's in Vegas, and we were excited to finally try the new one in Houston. The service was excellent, and the restaurant decor and ambiance was also outstanding. We are fans of the big eye tuna (it melts in your mouth) and it did not disappoint.

The new hotel and restaurant complex on San Felipe and the 610 loop should be the crown jewel of Houston hospitality. We have not tried the hotel, but visited Mastro's for dinner. As you enter, this large restaurant is divided in several, smaller areas. There are two bars, and both have multiple vary large flat-screen TVs, showing some sports event. These screens are clearly visible from all the dining areas and detract from the elegance of the place. I guess the owners couldn't decide whether they wanted a first class restaurant or a sports bar and decided on the latter. Of our two appetizers, the octopus carpaccio was excellent; the fried calamari was mediocre, at best: greasy, chewy and without much taste. Mastro's should remove it from the menu or re-engineer it. The Petit Filet was moist and tender, but had little taste, not even salt or pepper. The bone-in ribeye was excellent, exactly medium rare and the truffle butter made it even better. The desserts were delicious, but the portion size was obscene. Either Mastro's wishes to contribute to the obesity epidemic, or the chef doesn't know what fine food is and just caters to hungry professional athletes. At the very least, the waiter should warn the guests of the portion size: both desserts would comfortably serve four customers each! We had no such warning. Overall, with some improvements, removing the disturbing TV screens and re-training the wait staff, this could become one of the nicer restaurants in town.

I may have gotten the best lemon drop martini I have ever had and the food and service was spectacular!!! So why only 4 stars?? It is a matter of opinion I guess, but for me the restaurant is too dark and the acoustics is horrible which makes it very hard to carry a conversation with anyone not immediate next to you! Overall a really good evening and I would definitely go again!

I picked this restaurant as I saw it mentioned in an article I was reading about wine. There is an excellent wine list, but the food and atmosphere were also fantastic, as was the service. Though pricey, it's well worth it and in talking to the chef, we were happy to find out they are bring Mastro's to SF in October.

I really liked Mastro’s. It’s the second location I’ve been to and my impression was much better here. I liked the chic interior. Service was attentive from the bartender where we enjoyed pre-drink cocktails to our table - both the main server and the server assistant. I have to call out a nice attention to detail - one of my guests has a gluten intolerance and the server advised him that there was flour in the coating used to give the steaks an extra char. We had oysters, sushi, seafood and steaks and there was not a miss along any of these. I thought pricing was what you’d expect from a Steak house. Wine list was very nice though I thought this was an area that veered towards more expensive. I do recommend it.

The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. We have eaten at a couple of their other restaurants in Newport Beach and New York City. This one in Houston was the most beautiful with a large bar, patio and fountains. It just opened a week ago and was obviously very crowded. If you want to have a quiet dinner this isn’t the place. Noise level over the top. Bar area was overcrowded. They really need to enforce the dress code they have on their website. People were dressed in all types of shorts and tee shirts. Most people were elegantly dressed. Restaurant has some design flaws. When the front doors open you get a cool breeze that is overwhelming. The service was very good and the steaks and sides were perfect.

Great great great steak; I had the Chef’s cut New York strip, no sauce no butter. Astonishing taste. The place is really nice, sophisticated, modern, great atmosphere. Wine list immense; we had some great malbec. Recommended.

We really enjoyed the cocktails and the bar staff . ( I want to say Michele or Melissa at the side bar was really awesome) However , everyone at the bar was really friendly and on top of things . The atmosphere was fun and beautiful ( great music ) . The food was good, but in comparison to other steak houses I can’t say it knocked our socks off . The service, however , was very very nice.. We would definitely give this place another try . The area was fabulous as well.

Husband and I were at a business dinner. He had the ahi tuna appetizer which was amazing. I had the crabcakes which were good but I wasn't blown away. His filet was really good and so was my red snapper. The veggie sides were good. I just don't know about $14 for a baked potato though. Service was excellent. Staff really cared about our experience. Dessert was good but I wished I got the warm mousse. I grabbed a bite and it was to die for!

Mastro’s did not live up to its hype or to the more than $1,000 we spent there for a party of five. The positives: The filet side of our prime porterhouse was absolutely amazing. Likewise, the gnocchi was incredible, world class. The mediocre: The prime ribeye was ok. But I have had much better for less money at several other places like STQ, B&B, etc. the sushi tower was interesting, but I have had much better sushi at family restaurants like Ginza for a lot less money. The mushrooms were pretty plain as were the brussel sprouts. Frankly, I am used to those two sides being better at home than we had here at Mastros. Or better at the usual suspects around town like Brenner’s, Jonathan’s the Rub, etc. In fact, Kroger white mushrooms or brussel sprouts with butter, salt and pepper sautéed for 5 minutes would be better than these two high dollar sides from Mastros; however they were not bad-just plain, mediocre. The crowd was interesting. Although it was 8:30 to 10:30 while we were here, there were still about 6 or more babies in cradles in the room. There was also a large contingent of people who looked like they were spending someone else’s money to be there. There were some even-aged date couples with the male having a strained look on his face. I could read his mind: “I am paying how much for this?” There were plenty of old men with young women as well. The bad: We made a reservation weeks ahead of time. We could only get early or late and settled on 8:30 since it was a Saturday. But when we arrived, the host desk had lost the reservation. Fortunately we pulled it up on a phone and showed them, but how competent and embarrassing is it to lose someone’s reservation for a special night out? The next issue is the noise. We were lucky enough to be in a far corner on the first floor, but even this quietest table on the floor was painful at times. You could not hear someone 2 feet away. The next issue was that a waiter dumped an entire glass of water in my friend’s lap. To compound this the sommelier basically laughed at our misfortune. The next issue was that the $300 bottle of wine we selected was out of stock. So we had to work through the wine list again to find something else. The service was plain bad in addition to being inattentive. After the water spill, they never asked if we needed anything, so I had to flag someone down 10 minutes later to replace my napkin. When you are paying over $1,000, you should feel like you need to get up and serve yourself. Allison Cook seemed to enjoy this place. Of course, she gets good service and special treatment. I prefer a place that will treat the regular customer the right way.

I haven’t had too many “fine dining” experiences so I don’t have much to compare to but this place was amazing. My best friend and I reserved a table for two next to the waterfall for my birthday. We arrived 10 minutes late and they held the table for us. I had the twin lobster tails and they were so plump and cooked perfectly. Worth the cost in my opinion. The atmosphere was fun and elegant. The service was top notch. I was slightly disappointed in my drink. I had two vodka sodas. I expected to feel a little tipsy. But overall I definitely want to go back. It’s a must try if you’re visiting Houston’s

I came here with my partner on August 25th, 2024 around 9:10pm and everything about the inside was beautiful. Our waiter was Michael i believe and he was absolutely amazing. He had charisma and was very welcoming. We went in looking for a nice, fine dinner and got exactly that thanks to his recommendations and his overall service attitude. He made our anniversary even more special, and the food was absolutely amazing. The scalloped potatoes could use a bit more of a pop while in the oven but otherwise good, the mac and cheese was delightful and creamy. The star of our plates would be the filet, it was cooked wonderfully with a soft rare center and the flavor was on point. Michael recommended the house special dessert "Butter cake" and it was absolutely delicious. A bit hard on the outer edges but overall warm and the whipped cream and ice cream really brought out nostalgia so much so we had to get the whip cream to go. We will definitely be coming back here more often, the service we experienced last night is one worthy of accumulating regulars:)

My cousin and I started at the bar for drinks and conversation after our performance at the Cutting Horse Show at HLSR. The bar staff were all very friendly and interactive with patrons. The patrons were interacting with each other as well. You could not tell who was new and who were regulars. Everyone was someone to everyone. The atmosphere was light and happy. We moved to a table with another friend of ours in the open area near the waterfall. The decor of the restaurant was amazing and beautiful and the group playing and singing at the piano bar, just around from our table, were delightful, but not over powering. Our waitress was prompt, pleasant and had a great personality. She needed it to handle our table... The steaks and side dishes were served hot, had a great presentation and delicious. We had a great evening from the time we arrived until we left and they even tolerated our cowboy hats and boots and maybe even the smell of horses and valet parked our dually. The price point is on the upper end, but we felt they earned every penny. We took very good care of our waitress for taking such good care of us and was a good sport to a couple of cowboys. Now this place is what restaurants should be about!!! Absolutely Amazing!!! Thank you Tillman!!!

soooo delicious... my favorite when my husband and i get out for dinner.. a bit pricey but worth every penny!..

Arrived for a reservation on a busy Saturday night and was seated almost immediately. All greeting staff were very polite. Valet cost was a reasonable $5. It took a little while longer for our server to come once we were seated but other than that, everything was timely. My filet with truffle butter was cooked perfectly and taste was great. The butter cake for desert was fine, but don’t understand why it’s their signature one. The decor is outstanding. One drawback, Mastros is the only Landry’s chain that does participate in their customer loyalty program.

I have eaten at steak 48, doris metro & pappas bro all good steakhouses but mastros give better ambience GM nick and the other manager tucker? Are fabulous take really great care of me

I would like to say my server was the bomb.com (Micheline) My lady and I had our birthday's on the July 24th. We had a great time there but was told by a few of my co workers that we had to dress up, so we did. We were looking pretty darn good. I was a little disappointed by the lack of the dress code what I saw. There was a guy in a red hoodie and another one in shorts, then one in a white tee. Then looking at your website says people need to dress up. I hope to see the changes the next time we decide to come back.

Very nice restaurant and great service but about the same as Steak 48 and Vic & Anthony’s. Nothing really distinguishes the top steak houses in Houston from each other. Expect to pay about $200 per person but it’s a very nice place. Worth the cost? You can get just a good if steaks elsewhere for a lot less money but... it’s not Mastro’s.

Nice food but not perfect: steak was a bit over cooked and service was difficult because of extremely loud music (party karaoke level). Conversations only possible to closest neighbor on the table. Would have scored higher if prices were more reasonable because food was ok.

Took dad for Fathers Day and was less then impressed with the server Kevin rushing us through our order. Guess he figured we were just another “black family that wasn’t going to tip”. I originally ordered the 33oz Ribeye, Kevin took the order then after several minutes he came back to advise that it was not available. I then ordered the porterhouse and it was delivered so unflavored and not to menu spec! My side of Snap peas was stringy and overcooked! I frequent many Fertitta establishments, Lillie’s Lake Charles (the AGM & staff are always welcoming and attentitive) is my favorite by far, I expected even more from Mestro’s being a stand alone, yet Lillie’s blew them out of the water as far as service and consistency with entrees! Also, why can we not accumulate LSC points? I understand not being able to utilize rewards but if I spend the $$$ I would appreciate the points??

For a starter, a filthy dirty martini with 3 olives. Kept getting better. The atmosphere has a great vibe. Sophisticated. Had a table next to the water fall so between the buzz of the clientele, the music and the waterfall it was a little bit difficult to talk. But not enough to move. The service is very attentive. I had the beef bacon with the filet and scallop. Side dishes were the bacon brussel sprouts and the Truffle fries. I couldn't finish it all but it was very very delicious. There's a lot of terrific restaurants in Houston but this is great steak house and Seafood establishment. My first visit to Mastro's was in Las Vegas and all I could remember was the martinis more amazing.

I expected the best of the best steakhouses after all the hoopla; however it was not as advertised. The place itself was nice and sleek. Service was very good. However the noise level was way too high; it did not help they were playing very loud music and there were two bars where the noise level was extreme, worse than a sports bar. The dress code was not enforced at all. The wine lost was very comprehensive; that is a big plus; The food in itself was good, but I have had similar or better experience at Pappa's steakhouse. I probably will never go back to that particular location.

The food was good, mostly. A steak is not medium well when it is oozing and still pink. I got attitude for asking about mushrooms in a dish (I'm allergic) which is very off-putting.

We had some friends visiting from out of town who enjoy a good steak and asked that we choose a restaurant that would impress them, Mastro’s definitely fit the bill! We were able to sit on the patio- it was a perfect night and gorgeous view. Our server was attentive and had excellent recommendations and our food was delicious, steaks were perfectly cooked and presented as were our sides. The gooey butter cake along with espresso martinis were a great end to the meal and we were even able to catch the end of the Astros game and some post dinner cocktails at the bar. This is definitely a great place to get dressed up for and go people watching.

Not only were we lucky enough to be seated by this beautiful water fountain, but they had a singer/pianist there as well. From the moment we entered the service was attentive and fantastic. Our server Frank was thorough in his explanation and recommendations for the menu, he really goes above and beyond!! He even removed the crumbs from the table and remembered our to go bag as we were leaving without it. Definitely a delicious steak, and the crab cakes were sooo good. Presentation does not fail here, the experience was very elemental. I regret not getting any pictures of the food, but I did get one of the view next to our table!

I had the wagu New York Strip. It was okay, but definetly not worth the price. The sides were good. They butter cake dessert was AWSOME. I will likely go back with my wife and not order anything but the butter cake. Although the table next to us had something called the SEAFOOD TOWER; it looked interesting as well. They had an expansive wine list and a good sommelier to help make suggestions. They did have great look / decorations, but the place was so noisy (on a MONDAY night) that I could not even hear myself think. The waiter messed up our order twice, forgot one of our steaks and forgot one of our salads. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience, but only because I wasn't paying. If I was paying I would not have been pleased with the experience. For my money, I would prefer Taste of Texas or Morton's steakhouse.

Steak quality 8/10 (ribeye steak bone on) Cooking quality 8/10 Desserts9/10 A bit away from the center, but worth the trip

The Ribeye was just ok, not much flavor.. if you really want to get return for your money go to Papas Bros or Vic and Anthony's. Not coming back.

Had the table for 13 on next to the bar and it was perfect! Highly recommend the Seafood tour as an appetizer

The setting was nice - formal dining area, bar area in the middle and another open air dining area to the left as you enter that borders a small pool and waterwall. We sat in the open air area and thought the setting was very nice. The only detraction was the live music was loud enough it made talking a bit difficult. Service was good. Salads were huge, tasted good but could be reduced in size. Filets were expertly done and as good as I have had anywhere. Crab cakes were very good but a bit dry. Nice wine selection at all price levels.

We were there on a Wednesday night. Got a last minute reservation. Fortunately we were seated near the fountain on the patio. Temperature was fine and at least we could hear ourselves think. This place is LOUD! Food was great. Three of our party got the steaks. Wonderful! Gnocchi was fantastic! Best margaritas we ever had. Chocolate cake came with heaping helping of whipped cream. There were still many things on menu we'd like to try so will go back. Service was very good. No complaints about that. Please turn the noise down!

We went to Mastro’s this evening for a belated birthday dinner for my husband while enjoying a “staycation” at the Post Oak hotel. We are Houston locals and have eaten at many of the popular Houston steakhouses (Taste of Texas, Eddie V’s, Brennar’s on the Bayou, B&B Butchers, etc) and after this evening, Mastro’s is at the top of our list of favorites! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service we received from our waitress, Tracy. Tracy was so much fun and made the atmosphere at the restaurant feel so much more welcoming and less pretentious. We enjoyed a Pinot Noir recommended by the sommelier, and then the A5 Wagyu Steak Roll for an appetizer that Tracy suggested would go well with our wine. Both were fabulous! For dinner we shared the chateaubriand with bone marrow butter, which was carved table side. To accommodate my husband’s preference for a medium rare steak and my preference for a medium steak, Tracy served my portion on a plate heated to 400 degrees. We also shared the lobster mashed potatoes which were delicious! Overall we were really impressed with both the service and the quality of our meal! We did not have a negative experience with the clientele as some of the other reviews noted, but we did opt for an earlier dinner - around 6pm - so, we likely beat the party crowd!

This restaurant caters to New Years Eve crowd-blowing it out once a year to celebrate something. They're not interested in anyone else. At check in the hostess was doing us a favor to seat us, we had requested the bar area to watch a game and she promptly sat us behind a wall. Not okay. Reseating was done by a manager . Our waiter finally appeared telling us he was waiting on another table ( a large celebrating group) . The service remained the same all night. We were an after thought. At these prices unacceptable. The food is very good. The beef carpaccio was amazing, the filets perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crab cakes were filled with crab not breading. With food at this level the service and attitude need to match it. I've been to mastros in Vegas and LA and not had these issues. Landry's Management needs to step in

Good food and drink at the up end of the Landry's family. Not cheap but great atmosphere and service.

Thought this would be a first class experience but I was disappointed to the highest degree! I had issues with my food temperature (luke warm at best). At the conclusion of my meal, as I reviewed my check, I noticed an extra $5 charge added to my tab. The $5 was for BREAD. I was highly disturbed, as the waitress never "asked" if I wanted to 'purchase' bread; however, she asked if I 'wanted' bread, as most restaurants ask. I felt taken advantage of by this sneaky charge. It's not that $5 is a lot of money; it's the principle! Nothing special about the quality of food. I visited during ‘restaurant weeks’ and judging from the online photos from others, my meal portions were smaller – I guess because I was getting the set menu. I expected an elevated experience but they were a 4 on a scale of 1-10 (mainly due to the aesthetics). Loud rock & R&B music piped in the dining room. A $90 meal wasted. I tipped Kelly 15% vs. 20%, as I felt stiffed. Houston has much better options.

This.Is.My.New.Spot! First of all this place is poppin: it's trendy, it's contemporarily furnished & decorated, the food is good, the drinks are strong, the service is nice, and the surrounding area is fabulous. And I've only been once so far haha! Love at first sight I guess. I had been looking for a classy Saturday night spot to frequent besides Eddie V's and this is it. Awesome scenery inside and out. I read where some people said that the restaurant was too loud for their taste blah blah blah. Who eats in complete silence? I was able to hear the other person at my table quite fine and we were near the live band. You want a dead crowd try Steak 48 where everyone's whispers sound like bumblebees Lol! I ordered Lobster tails with a fully loaded baked potato, which was huge by the way. Hubby got two crab cakes and Lobster mashed potatoes, which could have fed a table of 4. Huge chunks of lobster tail and claws! We'll have to go back for their steak, we wanted to taste around the menu. $5 Valet which is reasonable. Drinks are a bit higher than other places but most come with shakers which allow extra pours so that's a deal to me. Plenty of elbow room at and between the tables. I absolutely loved the live band and was surprised at how late they perform. Reservations fill up fast we had to book at 9pm so I would definitely recommend reserving ahead. The waiter did not rush us at all. Only complaints: It smells like manure near the front door. There's a seated area for smokers with a wonderful landscape off to the side and I believe that's where the smell comes from. That's all I smelled while I waited for my car at valet. But whatever, I had a great time. The restroom is the same direction as the kitchen and (I'm assuming) the main register so there's a lot of dodging waiters and servers with trays down the hallway to the restroom. But whatever, I had a great time. Our waiter took the cash with the check and never came back or offered to bring change, which would have left him with a pretty hefty tip for a two-person dinner. Like over $50 we're talking. We just needed change for the valet because all my husband had were big bills. We literally had to track him down before leaving. He was sweaty the entire time but I got to give it to the guy, he took care of a full birthday table with at least 10 to 15 people on his own. Summary of my review: Go!

It's by far our favorite restaurant and it's become our go-to when we want an evening out. The food is consistently amazing - never go without ordering the butter cake. But the bone-in filet has turned me after eating ribeye my entire life. The service is always good, but we honestly plan our trips around Frank. He sets the tone for the evening and always takes the time to catch up with us (yes, he remembers and will make it a point to ensure we feel at home). While we've been a few times without being able to see Frank, it really makes an incredible difference when we can spend the evening with him. If you're fortunate enough to get him as your server (or request him on your reservation), you are guaranteed an outstanding experience.

Loved our seat by the fountain but it was just adjacent to the bar with live music—too loud to have a conversation. Excellent service and great food. The homemade crackers are excellent and the onion soup is the best. Great veal chop and Brussel sprouts and steak. Mixed drinks are expensive.

Excellent service and food along with a desire by the staff to make the time you are there special. Then manager Tucker spent time at our table to be sure our time was as good as it can be. this will be our choice for dinner every time we are in Houston.

Had a weeknight dinner date and it was an awesome experience. Great wait staff and the food is superlative. We were in and out in a little over an hour and never felt rushed

We have gone to numerous Mastros over the years, and have always enjoyed them. But certainly not this one. Beautiful décor and lighting. Food was good, service below average, but the loud music completely ruined the dinner--and we had an early seating. Couldn’t hear my partner, and we were seated at the back of the restaurant---left early due to the noise. If you want a loud, sports bar atmosphere, with blaring music and three tvs, this is the place for you. Otherwise, walk across the parking lot to Willie Gs, far better.

We went there for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. 1. Parking: there is only valet parking which is $5 ( and no you don’t have to tip there more than what you are paying), otherwise there is a parking on the other side of the road. We did not have cash and added the valet to our check. 2. I love the decor ( contemporary but arty) 3. Yes, as some mentioned it is noisy mostly because it is opened, then they’ve band or loud music. Honestly it bothered me a little at the beginning but got used to it and focused to what I came there for” food” 4. Food was fantastic: fish, steaks, sides. We are French and tried all the steakhouses, yet Artisan and Étoile were always the best to us.... till Mastro. The servings are generous. Order 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert for 2 as the portions are generous. Try their fries, and butter cake. Areas of improvement: no need for the waiter to introduce the dishes, no one could hear him , and unless we had a question we don’t mind someone reading us the menu. Then the people in the bathroom holding you paper towel : this is a no , no, no and it’s such NOOO. You don’t want everyone to know your business in such an intimate room, then no I won’t tip someone for holding me 1 paper towel. This is so cheap and not elegant at all.

Mastro's Steakhouse is an incredibly one of a kind experience in dining out. The atmosphere is lively & the decor is so chic, without being intimidating. From the appetizers to the steaks to dessert were amazingly presented & the taste was a dance for the pallet. My party talked with the Sommelier and after a few questions, she surprised us with a wonderful bottle (1st of 2) of wine.I would take her recommendation on wine any day! The steaks were like nothing I had ever had.....truly buttery melt in you mouth goodness. The sides we ordered---roasted Brussels sprouts & mushrooms were equally well prepared & a nice complement to our steaks. One of my party ordered the veal chop & the other two had the 8 0z filet. All were perfectly prepared.

My husband and I live in Texas but we had my mother and her boyfriend who are both from out of state come to visit. While they were here visiting they were celebrating there one (1) year anniversary. Rick (moms boyfriend) like a gentleman, picked Mastro’s and made the reservations. My my my... This place was nothing short of an exquisite experience; from the start with the valet parking to being seated at our table. I ordered grilled Salmon which unfortunately came out cool, my truffle butter on top never melted😟😕😟. However, that didn’t take away from the dimmed lighting, the wall lined with a plethora of wines, the variety of music the other dishes ordered or our magnificent waiter (John) who was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We were treated with so much hospitality at it’s finest I didn’t want to mention the Salmon being cool not hot because the entire table was having such a marvelous time. My husband and Rick ate my Salmon. We will definitely be back, no question... LOL I too want to thank the restroom attendant, please forgive me as I’ve forgotten her name. This woman was full of personality and obviously loves her job. While in conversation with my mom about me needing another safety pin for my dress she stepped aside and pulled one out from her area of many trinkets us ladies may need. Thank you for that and our wonderful conversation that ensued after.

We wanted to love Mastro's, but we found the vibe a little too "see-and-be-seen" for our taste. The food and service were good but not great. We prefer Vic and Anthony's or Del Friscos for atmosphere and quality of food and service.

We had a wonderful dinner at Mastros in Houston celebrating my daughters 25th birthday. The staffs service was exceptional and the food was delicious. It was cooked to perfection . Thank you Houston Mastros! Sincerely, Maureen Burch

We visited Mastro’s for a friend’s birthday and were thoroughly impressed with the ambiance and all the dishes we tried throughout the evening! If you enjoy seafood, the seafood tower is great fun and a delicious appetizer for groups. Of course the steak is top notch and cooked just as requested. I also highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes. But come expecting to pay $$$ for this delicious food!

We went here for a couple’s dinner (4 couples total). Beautiful restaurant, they seated us early and service was great. The downsides: super loud atmosphere, my steak was way undercooked, and there was no flavor to any of the dishes (tried 4 items). I also saw other tables sending their steaks back. We knew it would be a pricey restaurant, but considering all of the negatives, this was another downside. There are so many great options in Houston, so we will not be returning here.

Went on a Friday night and seems to be the place for young wealthy patrons to be seen. We had drinks and appetizers and they were fine. The place is so noisy that I felt sorry for the folks trying to have a great meal with conversation as that will not happen. We thought our best item we had was the cherry crumble or crisp for dessert. The tartare was not good but the smoked salmon was excellent. I had the seared tuna and it was fine but not exceptional.

From the pre dinner drinks outside on th patio to the wonderful food, wine and service we received tnis was one of the best and a real treat. The seafood tower is incredible, the steak was one of the finest I have ever had and the sides were awesome. We managed deserts between us all! The butter desert was amazing. The bar was so packed with Houston’s finest. The wine waiter was particularly well informed and did a great job. Will be back for sure

The music was so load in the bar area you could not have a conversation. The restaurant part was slightly better as the speakers we not directly overhead. Due to the music, people had to increase their volume so it was an overload of music and people yelling. In speaking to the hostess about this she said that is what management wants with the volume. I will not go back and for a fine dining restaurant this was unacceptable and the service was below average.

Mastro's is one of the best steakhouse chains in America. It's lively, hip and oversized. The food is excellent, in all aspects. We used to visit often while in Scottsdale, but haven't been in awhile and it hasn't missed a beat. If you're looking for a great experience, in a luxurious atmosphere, visit Mastro's.

Food was excellent but atmosphere was way too noisy to have a productive business dinner. In addition, one of our group brought a special bottle of wine and after the waiter opened it, the manager came and said we weren’t allowed to drink It. Should’ve told us that before the bottle was opened

The noise level is crazy loud. There were so many people that you kept getting bumped when walking through the restaurant. We were given a table by the servers station. We kept getting bumped. My daughter in law ordered her steak medium and they brought it rare. They had to take it back. They did not bring it out until we were all done with our meal. My other daughter ordered a bone in filet and was given a regular filet. We ordered a bottle of wine and were brought out a different vintage without being told. I think the restaurant is the color of the month so everyone wants to go. Not impressed.

Came to Mastro’s for a birthday celebration with friends. Had a great wine list! The food was amazing and I would recommend the lobster roll, as it was one of our favorites. The ambiance and setting was nice as well, they had live music on a Sunday and it was a nice added touch. I was disappointed in the service. I felt like we were bothering our waiter and we were just another dollar.

Terrific food and service. Classy atmosphere. Lobster mashed potatoes a big hit. Go prepared to drop a pretty penny but great for that special occasion

Excellent dining experience last night with T (our server) and Dave (our Somm). First time at Mastro's Houston, we have been to Miami, and we had a much better overall experience here in Houston. From entrance to departure it was spot on. Really enjoyed having Dave bring out multiple options and educate us throughout the evening on our tour of wines. Only negatives would have to be the oddity of the photo policy (its almost 2025), and despite the reservation we were also not offered choice of indoor/outdoor seating. Would've enjoyed the vibes on the other side of the restaurant with live music and cool breeze.

The food was good, but not the best. The restaurant is very noisy, very dark, so if you are in a party mood this might be perfect for you. Also, for the price you have to pay, I was expecting a better service. The employees are not to friendly and I felt like a second class citizen. I will definitely not come back to this restaurant.

I don’t even know where to begin. From the time you walk into the restaurant to the time you leave, this place is AMAZING! My colleagues and I went here for Happy Hour after work. When you first walk in there is a cool, sexy, classy vibe about this place. The service is phenomenal and the live music is great. What’s nice about the live music is you can still have a conversation without having to scream. The waterfall on the patio is super relaxing and just a great overall vibe. Don’t get me wrong this place is a bit pricey but it is well worth the money. The food presentation was perfection and the quality was just as good. Best restaurant I have been to in a while!

Four adults met for dinner on a week night at about 6:30. Some of us had dined at other Mastro’s locations and had high expectations for this location in the new hotel in our neighborhood. We were warmly welcomed and drinks in the bar were fine. When we were taken to our table, just on other side of invisible wall between bar and dining tables, we asked for a quieter table. Bar area noise was getting louder as it filled and carried into dining area. Our new table was in other side of dining area, so farthest from bar area. But, the total area was noisy and it was hard to have intimate conversations. We ordered nice wine and steaks. Wine was great. Although edible, steaks were disappointing! As were some of our sides. We didn’t completely finish our meals. When we left and waited for valet to retreive our cars, it was a push to get through the arriving younger crowd and we weren't treated as warmly as when we arrived. Valet worked hard to keep arriving customers happy and still try to retrieve departing customers cars in a timely fashion. We all agreed that this steakhouse experience was disappointing and hope that if we return it will be a positive experience.

My wife and I visited Mastos on a special night out. The atmosphere was electric as the noise level was fairly high when we arrived and just escalated higher as the evening went on. Most of the buzz came from the bar area and we were seated further away toward the opposite end of the restaurant, so it was tolerable. Great atmosphere in the bar area with picturesque water wall open to the patio. The service was very good, always attentive to drinks, refilling water (my quirky personal benchmark), clearing plates, etc. We had lobster bisque and French onion soup to start, which were both delicious. We shared a potato side, and still took home half - so they were ample portions for the sides. The steaks were excellent. Cooked as desired, tender and tasty. Minor critiques of the evening would be an understated presentation of the steak- it’s appearance as a tiny morsel on a humongous white, unadorned plate. Very tasty, albeit laughably tiny on the plate. Also, be prepared to bring another wallet for the drink menu. Regular beverages were $20+ and the stratosphere is the limit for fine wines and scotches. All in all an excellent dining experience for a special evening although somewhat pricey.

Warm welcome, good service, brilliant Wine Steward! Superb menu offerings, wine list had a broad range of wines and prices, from $45 to $45,000 a bottle. We had the Chappellet from Napa! Great wine, priced high at $120 a bottle, usually $75-$80 at other fine restaurants. Serving portions were generous, needed to-go-home boxes. They do charge $5 for parking, and after a $500+++ dinner, that seems a little silly. Had to tip the valet just $5. Spectacular entrance, Las Vegas style, a large property. I do understand they offer some quiet sections, which we will demand next time. They do not offer dry aged steaks, which is strange, but their US Prime steaks were excellent. We also ordered Sole, nicely done. Easy access of the Post Oak loop access road. We will return.

Just when you think Tilman Fertitta had maxed out with the upscale Houston steakhouses--Vic & Anthony's, Morton's, etc.--his group has outdone itself again with Mastro's Steakhouse, located on the West 610 Loop, just north of the Galleria. I've been to most all Houston-area steakhouses, and I'd consider Mastro's the crème de la crème, ousting both Pappa's and Killen's from the top spots. The service, decor and food presentation and quality is what you would expect in a fine-dining establishment in New York, Los Angeles or Las Vegas. My group ordered a variety of steaks, from the New York strip and bone-in filet. I got the 33-oz "Chef's Cut" ribeye. It was one of the best seasoned and perfectly cooked steaks I've ever had. Amazing marbling and flavor with a precise mid-rare cook. The foie gras appetizer was outstanding. A real show stopper was the seafood towers and small shellfish apps, such as the shrimp cocktail, served in dry ice for that dramatic "smokey" affect. The onion soup is also delicious, but a bit too "bready." The sides are large and tasty. We ordered three total to share four ways, and it was plenty. The mushrooms, creamed spinach and Wagyu Hamburger Helper were all topnotch. I cannot remember the last time I couldn't finish a steak and sides, but let's just say I had spectacular leftovers the next evening. If you do save a little room, a top dessert recommendation is Mastro's signature warm butter cake, served with ice cream and fruit. Believe me, it's plenty to share for four people. Mastro's is a must for Houston foodies or special occasions.

First things first, the valet parking is complimentary and also mandatory. The welcoming process was marvelous, I went on one of the days it was freezing cold and they brought a gigantic space heater near our table. Speaking of seating, we were sat right next to the fountain located in the cocktail area! The cocktail I recommend is their lemon drop (served over dry ice so don't be alarmed). I know this is a steakhouse but their sushi was the freshest I've had in a while, absolutely exquisite! Did I mention phenomenal service? I also recommend viewing their private dining areas, great potential there.

This is the top notch restaurant of the Landry’s family! It definitely shows! The service, the ambiance, and most importantly the food was amazing! My wife and I really enjoyed the appetizers, main course and dessert! We appreciate the anniversary gift and since my birthday is at the end of the month, we might just have to go back! Great job!

First off, there is no self-parking so valet is mandatory AND $5 plus tip. I hate giving my keys to a stranger. Then, upon entering, they won't have your table ready on time and there is no place to wait except the over-packed bar. Being taken to your table you will bump every chair on the way as the tables are almost on top of each other. The steaks were average which is not acceptable here in Houston. The sides are hit or miss. They are going for a Vegas-esque atmosphere which is pretty but the restaurant is too loud to have table conversation. Service is slow. Then, to top it all off you will wait 20 minutes to pay them $10 to get your car back. There is no reason to come here when there are so many outstanding steakhouses in the city.

If you are looking for a traditional steakhouse, this is not the place for you. It aims for the younger, casual crowd. The food is excellent, service is attentive. But it’s LOUD. The 2 bars in the restaurant have TV screens overhead, like a sports bar. There’s a posted dress code (business attire) but that’s completely ignored. In August, ask for the Restaurant Week menu, it’s an excellent deal compared to the normal menu.

Food was horrible. Second visit and drastically different than the first. Everything the table order was slightly mediocre at best. A real shame for the price

I loved this! The steaks are all 30 day wet-aged. The lobster mashed potatoes are incredible. The service was the best I’ve had anywhere. Other than that, everything was incredible! Do remember that it is $30 to get valet up front.

Mastro's impresses from the minute you walk in. The staff are everywhere, always looking to help each other, the ambiance is classy and cool and relaxed all at the same time. The service is impeccable, friendly, and not overbearing. All in all this is a restaurant not to be missed. We spent some time chatting with the sommelier, David, about the wine list. This Mastro's, unlike any other in the country, has the space to do something special with wine, and they have not disappointed. With a cellar in excess of 40,000 bottles and a sommelier who knows it all, you will find a wine that you love and learn something new at the same time. For food, the menu is what you would expect, just done superbly. We had the warm spinach salad with bacon, excellent, then Osso Bucco and the filet, cooked perfectly, with sides of brussels sprouts and shoestring fries (maybe the best in Houston? It's so hard to choose, as there are three types of fries available to order: sweet potato, string, and regular). All with an amazing, vibrant, and somm selected Barolo. Dessert was the flourless chocolate cake served with a side of just made whipped cream. Delicious. Overall this was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The price tag means visits are special occasions, but those will be all the more special as a result. Can't wait to go again, if for nothing more than to have a glass of wine.

All aspects of the restaurant’s ambiance were as nice and over the top as you’d expect. Definitely makes you feel like you’re having a very special dining experience. Being able to do so this time with Houston Restaurant Weeks helped, but the food still just doesn’t quite match up to their regular prices. While our steaks were great and cooked perfectly, including the delicious bone marrow butter (highly recommend), the rest of the meal didn’t hit the same level. The Jalapeño Tuna Sashimi dish was tasty, but the fresh jalapeños overpowered the plate with too much heat. The Sautéed Shrimp is usually a go-to option, but the dish just didn’t have nearly enough sauce and flavor this time. The sides of Creamed Corn and Scalloped Potatoes were the biggest disappointments of the night, as both were quite bland (would recommend avoiding both). Thankfully we were able to finish the night with their always reliable and delicious Signature Warm Butter Cake, which is a nice change of pace from the usuals of bread pudding and chocolate cakes. While I would recommend it for a HRW dining experience, especially with the fairly generous portions offered for the apps and dessert, I can’t say that I’d rush back for the main menu without wanting to try for other options in town.

Steak came delicious and warm as expected. Extensive wine selection enjoyed. Don't try without reservations. I used open table, but a seating before 7pm. We were seated quickly. We didn't do the seafood tower - heard it was fabulous. A great date or group place - we sat by the wine room.

Went to stay at the Post Oak Hotel for Wife's birthday. Made a reservation for the second night of our stay at Mastro's. The day of our reservation, read some of the reviews on Trip Advsior and almost did not go due to many of the common complaints about service, noise and overall food quality. As we were staying at the hotel and really didn't want to drive anywhere else, decided to give it a try. We were seated in the bar area near the band. They were amazing. Yes, the restaurant is a little loud, but my Wife and I had no issue at all caring on a conversation. The noise was just enough to drown those out around us so you couldn't hear what anyone was talking about. I personally liked this. The service was excellent. Drink orders were out quickly. Our appetizers were out within a few minutes of us ordering them. We had the french onion soup and crab stuffed mushrooms. For dinner we had the 8 oz. filet with the truffle butter mushrooms. The steak was perfect. Melted in your mouth. For desert, we had the chocolate flour-less cake. Again, over the top. Yes, Mastro's is not a cheap place to dine, but given the overall experience and food quality, I beleive it was well worth it. I've dined at Michelin 5 Star restaurants that were no where near the caliber of Mastro's. My Wife and I dine out daily. We were very impressed with Mastro's and the Staff. We will be back.

6 or 8 Oz Sirloin Steaks were tender and served exactly how we requested. The sides were delicious. The Crab appetizer was served glamorously. We had Mexican Mule as well as Martinis. Al served very well. Loud place but was jammed packed on a weekday. Loved it. Plan to go back with others.

We were seated without a reservation because we arrived early. The place filled up pretty quickly. Lots of dishes looked awesome as they were delivered to the table. The 6oz filet was perfect. Great martinis and an extensive wine list.

Beautiful, with good steak and East Coast oysters, but sides need work and lobster and dessert were dry and overcooked. Highest prices in the city, and doesn't measure up to its peers. We shared oysters ($48/dz, excellent, but not sure why they are $4 each) and a tomato salad (meh) to start. Husband had Tomahawk(great, but not in our top 5 in Houston area) and I had lobster tails (very dry), roasted Brussel sprouts (plain, lots of places do them better), creamed corn (needs salt+), and a chocolate butter cake (awful dry) that was an off menu special. 2 drinks each (margaritas are $24 each) and we were at over $500 with tip. Drinks were slow, waitress inattentive, never brought bread we ordered and were charged for... overall disappointed.

Enjoyed drinks and appetizers at Mastro's the evening of Feb 22, 2019. Service was excellent, and the ambiance was busy but pleasant. Great restaurant.

Mastro’s is a “happening “ restaurant. Live music and nice bar with fantastic service. The food is steak and lobster, etc. Very expensive for dining. Extensive wine list-also expensive. Lobster bisque and wine was the best thing we had. My husbands steak was a 7/10 and stuffed baked potato was a 5/10. Chilean sea bass was an 8/10. Sidney was our server and she was the best!! Will ask for her if we go back!

Great food, service, decor and management-A Landrys icon in a meat heavy town with a separate BOURBON BAR

Being from Southern California, Mastro’s is a natural “go-to” for me. I know live in downtown Chicago, Mastro’s is lovely there, providing great ambiance and food. I was quite excited to take my family in Houston for a fantastic dining experience. But it did not hit the mark. We started off the evening walking through a dungeon. I love great low lighting, but this was so dark, it made me want to turn around and run. I should have trusted that instinct. Our server was so aggressive about up selling, we felt gouged. Our sommelier was definitely the only saving grace on service. My son ordered the “hamburger helper” which was disgusting. It was just not a great experience, and when your bill is around 3 grand, you would like to walk away with a smile. Honestly, the completely dark room is what made it so lackluster. Our rookie server did not help. Had it not been for our knowledgeable Italian wine expert.... I think we would have left. Side note: We were in there for 6pm dinner, the sunlight from the open patio made it darker in the dining room. But the staff refused to adjust the lighting so diners could see. I heard every table near us complain. I do not think happy hour drinkers should get the best lighting, while the main dining room suffers. I will never go back. For the prices here, they do not get a second chance.

The experience started on the wrong foot. I made a reservation on open table and I received a confirmation call by the restaurant the morning prior to my reservation, I confirmed my reservation and we were good to go but then I received an email from Open Table stating that my reservation was canceled by the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they were “kind enough” to get me a table. The service was incredibly slow, our server will disappear for long periods of time and we had to “tackle” other servers for drinks or basic needs. The food was good, nothing remarkable. The wine list is memorable as much as for its variety as for how incredibly overpriced it is. Great ambience, nice decor. We paid $900 for 3 people, definitely not worth it.

My Texas Redfish was badly overcooked and had no seasoning, not even salt or pepper. Brussels sprouts were tough and bitter. Mushrooms, mashed potatoes and spinach were good. My friend’s ribeye was not cooked as he had requested. Several other dishes were disappointing. Deserts were very good.

This was probably one of the best places that I have dined in a while. The food was so delicious l, the staff was amazing and the ambiance of the restaurant was amazing. I will definitely be dining here again

There’s not enough stars to score this restaurant!!! If there was 20 stars I’d put 20. Now saying that I will tell you….. bring your wallet full!!! It’s not cheap but the atmosphere and food and wine are over the top amazing! If you have a special occasion or business dinner, especially, a must!!!! Beautiful waterfall and amazing staff!!! Highly recommend!!! Yum!

If you are looking for a new high end place to hang out with friends or to impress a date , this is it. The food is good although super expensive. They have seating by the pool and the post oak hotel is next door. Fancy woman , fancy cars and fancy food! This is the spot!!!

The restaurant, atmosphere, food and service was great. No complaints here and wi most definitely be back.

I booked a reservation for the restaurant hoping I would have a good time with my family and friends, however, when I arrived at the front door, my friend was told that he is not following the dress code which is strict upscale. With that being said, we have seen some guys walk in wearing shorts and sports attire without being questioned by the security. I am very disappointed by the lack of professionalism offered.

Some good friends toon usto dinner and it was wonderful. Great service and the food was great. Beautiful restaurant. Very busy. We stayed and enjoyed the live music.

Not our first trip to Maestro's, but this was the first time we experienced such poor service. It was 45 minutes into being seated before our pre-dinner cocktails were served. The Drinks were ordered first and didn't show up until after the appetizers. I had to step away from our table of 8 to get then waiter’s attention to get the drinks. I acknowledged that he appeared understaffed and politely asked him to please get with his manager to improve service. No manager ever appeared. Food was good, but we had to push for service all night long... We had to ask several times to have dishes and glasses cleared from the table. Most everyone ordered steak, and no one stopped by to check on the temperature. 2 steaks were undercooked. Our after-dinner drinks encountered the same issue as our pre-dinner drinks. They showed up well after our dessert was delivered. After paying for our meal I asked to speak to a manager about our experience. It was another 15 minutes before the Sommelier came over and apologized that the Manager was "too busy" and asked how he could help. He offered his card and told me during our next visit he would make sure we could get a table in this popular restaurant. Thanks, but no thanks. I didn't have a problem getting a table....My tab was over $2,000 and this was the type of service we received? We chose Maestro's as a place to celebrate several long-time employees because we were looking for the "Unparallel Dining Experience" advertised. What we received was poor service and a large tab. I gave our waiter and the Sommelier SEVERAL opportunities to make the experience right, but it became obvious to all at our table that our business didn't really matter. How embarrassing to choose to entertain a large group at a highly touted restaurant and receive such poor service. Do they want to be a high-end restaurant or nightclub and bar? Appears they are struggling to figure this out. Don't think we will be back.

Check with my last review. It was not a good review due to the fact that it was so dark you couldn't see your food and so loud you couldn't hear the person next to yo The food was OK.

Awful ambiance, worse food, high prices. When we arrived, the music was playing so loud I thought there was a live band. It was impossible to conduct business or talk with friends. It was so loud. I asked the waiter twice to please tell the manager to turn it down, and he agreed it was awful but never did anything. When my $80 steak arrived that I had ordered medium rare, it was completely cold And raw we waited for it for 45 minutes while they’re blasting music made conversation and possible I just gave up and started eating it. Then I took a bite of mac & cheese with lobster and got rewarded with a nice piece of shell in my teeth. I would put zero stars, but it won’t allow me for these kind of prices this awful service and terrible food is unforgivable

Very hip and upscale restaurant. Viva Las Vegas. The place was packed with people. Fabulous wine list. The steaks were very good. Get the seafood tower! The side orders are huge. All in all a fun but loud experience. Be prepared to spend some cash. This is not an inexpensive place to eat. Go for a special occasion. Almost forgot...the service was excellent.

A little loud - but it's a "vibe", live music and a "bar-like" atmosphere and AMAZING food! We shared a bone-in filet that was cooked so perfectly, it melted in your mouth! The sides are "sharable" for the table and we did just that! Brussel Sprouts - yes!!! Creamed spinach - fantastic! Mashed potatoes - just like mom's! It's great for groups and celebrations!

Exceptional service and food but very expensive. You can get this same service and food at other high-end restaurants. And with less noise. The open concept (bar and dining areas) needs some sort of noise absorption product. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Every item we ate (seafood tower, steaks, butter cake) was delicious! Tasty cocktails and great selection of wines! Being that it's still new, it's the place to be seen. Hang at the bar and noise won't be a bother. Romantic night for two - forget it.

I'm going to give a 3.5 star review rounded up to 4 stars for our Christmas night meal at the new Mastros Steakhouse in Houston. For overall flavor, atmosphere, service and taste they would deserve 5 stars, but there was a couple of mistakes that cost them the 1.5 star deduction. The restaurant had that Vegas steakhouse feel to it which is OK by me. Kind of fun vibe for a holiday celebration. Live music, but the key was that it was overwhelmingly loud. Service was prompt, and other than delivering our salads prior to our appetizers it was very good. Never got an explanation for that order of events. We were concerned that the entrees were going to come out before we were finished with the appetizers, but they didn't. On to the food: Crispy Shrimp and Scallop Bird Nest Dumplings - 3/5 - Decent, but I guess I am comparing them to Yuatcha, and they don't match up well My mother and I split the Caesar Salad and it was very good, they split it for us. My husband had the Spicy Mambo salad - 5/5 - very good spicy version of a Caesar that was as good as it gets. My mother and I both had versions of the filet, one bone in, one center cut. Flavor 5/5 - but the temperature on the steaks would get a 1/5. I requested medium and received a well-done steak. We really should have sent it back. Mother requested medium rare, she got somewhere between medium and medium well. Because high end steakhouses should cook their steaks to the proper temperature, they get the 1.5 star deduction. Husband had the Sea Bass - 4/5. Very good dish. Sides - Gorgonzola mac and cheese - 3/5, grilled broccolini - 4/5 Desserts are massive - definitely meant to be shared. Our table didn't realize this and ordered 3. Way too much. They were all good, but we wish we would have been cautioned against over ordering. Lots of high-end Steak in Houston, we will probably be back. If we do, we will expect the steaks to be cooked to the requested temperature.

I had the salmon. Slightly dry . It was ok but nothing to talk about. Ambience was crowded and noisy. I do not wear high heels and it was difficult to push through the crowd. I think I was the only woman there without towering heels. I think its a certain crowd that comes here, just not for me.

It was an amazing experience, full of life and flavor. It is perfect for a break from reality. The Butter cake was amazing. For a better experience I recommend sharing ;)

We have been hearing about Mastro's for a couple months and how it is the new must go place in Houston. We went with two other friends. I will say we were super excited. You will be wow'd by the Valet as you pull up with all the Bentleys and Mclarens. The inside decor is amazing and it is restaurant is bustling and popping. BUT for us, it pretty much flattened out from there. It has a lot of flash and pretty wrapping, but I am sorry just did not deliver on the experience in relation to the cost. I will also mirror much of what has been said in other reviews. 1) Dark. So dark inside you cannot see the menu, or if your food is cooked properly. 2) Loud. So loud you cannot hear anything the person next to you is saying. It is very reminiscent of a club. 3) Steaks not cooked correctly (tip) the table line that runs along the edge of the bar is a horrible place to sit. It is basically your face to bar patron's derriere due to everyone behind you at bar top tables and / or standing.(tip) The menu is amazing, The wine list is top notch, but service and management come across somewhat Juvenile. I say this due to a couple of experiences and observations. EXAMPLE 1a: A person in our party ordered the Wagyu strip and it was way over. (medium rare request, steak was grey) When informing the waiter, they immediately went into how they did not cook the steak and unfortunately they can not control if it is cooked properly or not. You expect this at a Salt Grass, or an Outback. Not here. EXAMPLE1b: A manager came over to apologize, but actually asked if he was sure that it was cooked incorrectly. I am sorry...but what? They brought a second steak, which was not right either...it was black and blue. So the opposite direction..way under. This steak was brought out on a small plate and laid it in his plate with his sides and basically filled his plate with luke-warm steak juice and blood which the sides now are soaking all that up. Asked to cut into it to check, but you can clearly see already (due to the flashlight being used) as he is cutting into it that it is not right. Informs the manager that it way under and pretty much under-rare. Manager uses a large spoon and large fork to remove the steak and take it to the kitchen hovering it over the small plate. Brings it back about 5 minutes later, same steak now charred around the edges. This super prime piece of filet steak has been pretty much destroyed. (Credit to the restaurant, they comped his steak, but only after he barely ate a few bites and requested it to be removed.) I am sure he would have much rather it have been right to begin with than to get it free. My Steak was rare, which I requested medium. I left it alone due to watching the debacle with our co-diner. Again the edges of my NY strip were charred hard and grey, but the center was rare. The other 2 dishes in our group had no issues and were fine. Our sides were fine as well. Another issue that evening was the table next to us was a square four top. Two people came in with a young child which was in a highchair seat. After their appetizers arrived, they restaurant sat two more adults at the table...ok so if was reservation for 4...BUT Then another 2 arrived with another child in a highchair and they sat them as well. There are now 6 people and two babies in highchairs at a square 4 top table. We had to move and shift around our table to make room. I expect this to be allowed at a Chilis with teenagers, not at one of the highest end steak houses in town. Due to it being so dark, waiters all have small LED flashlights which are constantly accidentally being flashed in your face from across the room. It is very distracting. The clientele which are super rich men also attract certain people as well. You will witness this at the Valet as they are leaving for the evening. This really makes the atmosphere even more club like and is a very bad look. Lastly The VALET. We literally waited 40 minutes for my vehicle, to which several people after me had received their vehicle. I had two couples actually comment to us that we were there before them and they were already receiving their vehicle. It was very busy that evening. Understandable. But this is not an exaggeration that we stood there for 40 minutes. After 15 minutes. I asked the gentleman at the booth, because the first person made mention about how long we were there. I was told that "the vehicles were far away"....(ok? what?) Other people came and left. We make mention again around the 25 minute mark to which we were told they are still "looking for it" This worries me, so I go back inside and bring this to the attention of the hostess at the desk. Another gentleman from the restaurant comes out and apologizes and takes the portion of the ticket I had and gives it to a young lady from the valet and asks her to find my vehicle. Another 15 minutes go by and it arrives. I understand things happen. I know that popular places can get busy. BUT being a FINE dinning restaurant, I would never expect to have conversations we had with waitstaff, floor managers, and even out to the valet. (which even though they are not employed directly by Mastro's, they represent them in the end) I can only assume this is a super rare occurrence to have so much go wrong in one evening. We frequent many places in the Houston area and have many comparisons. We may come back to try again, but at roughly 200 bucks a head for dinner, the entire experience made us think this may be a one and done. A more journeyman career waitstaff and floor managers will i think help this place tremendously. The fact it is so dark and loud does not allow for much observation of your dinning area. For what it is worth....

Steaks were excellent and cooked perfectly. Everything is A La Carte and quite pricey. Menu for beef and fish is extensive. Reservations a must-Two weeks for weekend and prime time in the evenings. Dinner only. Valet $5.00. Extensive, friendly and knowledgeable staff with outstanding service. Live Background Music. Looking forward to next visit.

We have dined here before and at The Woodlands Ocean Club location as well. The experience and food were exquisite at both places. The Post Oak location is louder that the Ocean Club but not unbearably so. The service we got here was good but our server seemed to be off a bit unlike the service at The Ocean Club which was exemplary. We all rolled out of here close to a food coma. The portions are very generous to the point that we constantly order more than we can finish. We do recommend and will be looking forward to returning.

Delighted to finally try this fine dining restaurant. We had a great server but wishes he checked on our table more frequently than he did. Everyone in my party was pleased with their meal. The chopped salad, steak and even the steamed spinach was great. We ordered the both original and a blueberry and lemon butter cake to share. Both were so good.

I can't believe I'm shaping my review around sweet potato fries. That's how much I loved it. I tossed my leftover in the oven to get the crunch the next day, and it was just as good. If you order sides, be aware that they come as a true family style that could easily feed 4 people. This restaurant is on the pricey side, so unless you are wealthy, you probably won't be here every week. But it is a really beautiful restaurant to go on a special date. And the portions are large enough to carry leftovers. It's also a popular spot for the suit types, and the night I visited was really packed that I didn't want to feel like a young girl snapping a picture of my food for the gram. So unfortunately I have no proof of my very delicious Australian lamb cooked to the perfect medium. I was hesitant to order it because I really love lamb, but too many times you get a teaser that leaves you wanting more. Not here. I can't emphasize how generous the portions are. My group also ordered the lobster mashed potatoes and broccolettes. The broccolettes were on the cold side, but the food was so good that I can't knock any star off.

Dinner was great - beautiful finish out, fantastic service, wonderful food. But I cannot stop thinking about the Butter Cake. One of the best desserts I have ever had. Worth returning just for it!

I worked with Candace on my event. The private room was perfect and the food was delicious. I would recommend this venue.

Our group of 4 went for dinner on a Sunday evening. There was live music, which was good, but too loud for us to speak comfortably, so we were happy when there was a break. Very nice lively restaurant. We had the stuffed mushrooms and calamari for appetizers and the portions were large enough for the four of us. For mains we had rib eye, petite filet and the Australian rack of lamb. All perfectly cooked. The mac and cheese was underwhelming, but the mushroom side and brussel sprouts were good. Very good atmosphere and located in a newish development with a great looking hotel and other restaurants. The service was also good. I would definitely return.

Very nice looking restaurant and buzzing with clients. The decor is swanking. The food nothing much to talk about. The crab cakes stay away, sautéed shrimps quite good. I ordered the A5 Japanese wagyu beef $60 per ounce with a minimum of four Oz, with baked potatoes requesting that the potatoes should not be cooked from before. The baked potato had to be returned and the $240 wagyu was horrible. The only thing good wqs the dessert. Bill for five people nearly $900. Not cheap.

Service was attentive. Food was terrible. My host ordered Oso Bucco and I had a Filet. Bothe were dry and over cooked based on the server's advice. I also ordered Caesar Salad and literally two bites and couldn't take anymore. They did credit that back but it was just terrible. Totally unlike a Steak 48 for example. Wouldn't be going back anytime soon.

We had reservations for my husband’s birthday. Arrival and welcome experience was less than we expected. Server was personable and professional (Joshua ?). Food was very good I wouldn’t say great. Still a few notches below what we expected. Temp of the good was excellent and cocktails were great. Little gnats flying around was pesty and truly took away my appetite. Not sure I would return. Oh I shouldn’t forget the birthday recognition was quite nice. Thank you Joshua.

We had dinner here last week end and it was excellent. Beautifully done place, very crowded and loud but the dinner was wonderful. Great service and large portions. Everyone’s meal was came out perfect. Big place and the bar was packed. My only complaint was the bathrooms are small for the size of the place. That will be interesting going forward. Overall great restaurant. We will go back.

Having regularly dined in the Mastro's in both Chicago and LA, I was excited to experience the brand new Mastro's in Houston. It did not live up to my expectations at all, and I've dined both in the restaurant and ordered to-go. This is the newest, hot restaurant in town, so I expect it to be packed. No biggie. With that being said, when you open a concept of this level, you should have experienced people coming from your other locations to make sure things run smoothly and meet expectations of a 5-star restaurant. Like another reviewer mentioned, the issues start with the design. This is designed like a sports bar. In the Mastro's in Chicago and LA, there's a bar area with piano and smaller tables for those without reservations or those just having drinks. Then there's a separate dining room, upstairs dining, plus more private areas. The Houston location is one large open bar area, so you have to yell for the waiter to hear you. It's extremely loud. On to the food. My sea bass was overcooked. We asked for more bread twice, never got it. The only thing that didn't disappoint was the warm butter cake. This is one of the things they're known for, so I'm glad they didn't ruin it for me. That was our dining experience. Now on to our to-go experience. On two separate occasions, we ordered the butter cake to go. The first time, it took 20 minutes for someone to come to the phone to take our order, the 2nd time it took 30 minutes after arriving to pick up the cake for it to be ready. Overall, I'm disappointed in my 3 Mastro's Houston experiences. I used to love this restaurant when I lived in Chicago.

Went here with a business colleague last night. The good: Big opulent extravaganza of a place, reminiscent of the 90’s. Great ambience and buzz, clearly the in place to go and be seen. Great bar scene and patio area that merges into the dining room. Nice piano and live singer that was excellent. Food served was very good, as to be expected from a high-end steak house of this caliber. Friendly and efficient service. The bad: Very noisy which was fine for us, but some may find obtrusive. The bar is centered in the restaurant and merges seamlessly into the patio area and main dining room so there was body’s flying around in all directions. Pricing was to be expected, but extras were a big rip-off. Example, we ordered a side of Brussel sprouts which were delicious and at $14 on the menu a tad pricy, but OK. During order waiter asked if we wanted some bacon bits added. When the bill came those bacon bits added a further $14, making the side of Brussel a $28 experience. Outrageous. Similarly, some melted butter to put on steak, a further $14 adder, making a bog-standard ribeye a $72 experience. If we had known that when ordering we would have declined the add on. Menu was generally nothing special with all the usual slabs of cow and veg dishes available that you can find at any other high-end steakhouse. Wine 3-4X. Bathrooms are also ridiculously small for a restaurant of this size. Two stalls and two urinals in the men’s room, plus three unnecessary attendants handing out goodies and trying to make a buck made it very cozy. The valet also needs more organization as the scene outside the restaurant was chaos and reminiscent of a Walmart opening during a Thanksgiving day sale making for a long wait. Overall: There are much better steakhouses in Houston that have moved into the 21st century for this kind of offering/theme with a more creative menu.

I was here with colleagues from out of town and the experience was not a bad one. Our server was absolutely superb, truly professional, knew all the dishes and knew what she was talking about. I regret not taking her name to call her out specifically. Our appetisers (starts) on the whole were OK. The crab stuffed mushrooms were very tasty but the tuna sashimi was below average, avoid it. The seared tuna, very good. We ordered fish and steaks - the fish was sea bass and that was excellent. I had the 12oz centre cut filet and it was excellent, perfectly cooked, perhaps lacking in seasoning a little but I'd take that over over-seasoned any day. Too many places overload the salt on steaks these days. The mash was a laughable disaster, I think I read a review somewhere describing it as powdered and that describes it perfectly. The shoestring fries were "damp", not crispy and not hot. I read about people complaining about the noise, that wasn't my experience and the place was packed. A little dark but that's by design. Was it worth it? I'd say yes, next time I'd try different dishes but I'd go back.

I took my husband here for his birthday on a Saturday night, and it was incredible! The service was amazing! Our server, Shawn, was very genuine and attentive, and the advanced sommelier was very personable, as well. Their wine selection is excellent with a very lengthy list to choose from (plenty of by-the-glass options, as well). The food was very, very good, and it had a beautiful presentation. I tried two different sashimis (hamachi & big eye tuna), which were very fresh and flavorful. We loved the sides (we had garlic mashed potatoes, truffle butter wild mushrooms, & creamed corn), but it was hard to narrow them down, as there are so many good options! (Creamed corn was hands-down my favorite of the three!) My husband loved the foie gras appetizer and his bone-in filet, which was prepared to perfection, flavored well and very tender. We had Chocolate Sin Cake for his birthday dessert, which was unbelievable (even to someone who does not love chocolate like me)! My husband also had an espresso martini with dessert, which was delicious! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, but it gets very busy on the weekends, so be sure to make a reservation! I also think going early is a good idea; we went at 6, which was perfect, but it got progressively busier throughout the evening. All in all, the experience was 100%! We will definitely be returning. (Only disclaimer: be prepared to spend some money...but well-worth-it money! Technically someone could go for a salad or sushi roll, which wouldn’t be expensive, but you wouldn’t get the whole experience.)

I made a reservation for eight people for this restaurant for a business dinner. I was so pleased to know that we were in a private room in the restaurant. That made this business dinner much more comfortable than being on the main dining for which tended to be extremely noisy. The food was superb! We started the evening with the seafood tower and the presentation alone is worth ordering it. The food was absolutely delicious and perfect in every area. From the wine to the desserts to the incredible service this was absolutely a treat for everyone in the party! It is a bit pricey so be prepared to spend at least $100 per person but for a special event for a breast of business dinner this is the location!

Excellent steak house. Glad we ate here. I had a rib eye and it was fantastic. The ambiance was a little loud, but we got used to it. That would be my only complaint.

Ate here twice. Last in October. Had bone in filet. Steak was outstanding. One if best I’ve had. Augratin potatoes were also excellent. Would definitely eat here again.
