Disappointment would be the best word to describe our dinner. The desk greeted and seated us quickly. That was the last thing that went quickly the rest of the night. Our server eventually arrived and took our cocktail order. The cocktails arrived and he wanted our dinner order even though we had just gotten the menus. Very unhappy that we wanted time to enjoy our cocktails and relax. Bad mistake on our part since he just disappeared. Salads arrived as well as the $6 bread course. Shortly thereafter, the bussing staff arrived and took the salads and bread away-which we had not finished. Our server returned to pour the wine-the last time he poured it-I guess it was my job to keep the glasses full. And then....he disappeared. Dinner arrived. The steaks were good but not great! Not what you expected for a $80+ steak. The sides were lame. Twice baked potato that was dry and cold. Seven asparagus spears for $16. No point in trying to contact our server, he was nowhere to be found. Returned with the bill, did he know about dessert? So, instead of after dinner drinks at Mastro's, we had them at the hotel. Best we can determine, this is a Steakhouse that lives on the convention trade and does not care if you come back. There will be another convention next week. Bottom line: Very expensive. Poor service. Not that good of a steak.

Food was excellent service friendly but limited reception in a very small area people stuck together no masks except us Expensive white wine was not put in a cooler Noise was unbearable, to much salt on the fries

What a great dining experience! Lexi at check in was amazing and very professional. I didn’t have a reservation however she was very accommodating and made it possible. Armanda was our server for the evening. We asked for recommendations and everything was on point. Scallops for appetizer, porterhouse steak and bone in ribeye were both delicious. Had the Mastros margarita and 4 a la cart sides. Definitely will be back. From the moment you walk in till the moment you leave the service was superb. Thanks for such a great Valentine’s weekend dinner experience to everyone at Mastros.

Such a difference from the extremely poor service received at Morton’s. Lovely venue, clean, good service, everything Morton’s is missing. Food was on a par. Give it a try really good friendly new venue.

The restaurant is lovely however there was music playing quite loudly so we asked for a table as far away as possible and that was granted. We were approached quite quickly and requested cocktails. While we were waiting for those another table of 4 was brought in and seated right next to us even though most of the restaurant was empty. Not only that, one of the male guests had on a tee shirt and baseball cap, despite the information on the website and downstairs that there was a dress code. Our feeling is that he should never been allowed upstairs. When he was asked to remove his hat he refused and at that point there was not anything to be done. It was all distracting for us however. We ordered and all of us ordered sides because no one had bothered to explain the sides would be sufficient for all four of us. We didn’t realize this until they were being served at the table. Our waiter was Sergio and while reasonably competent, only checked on us once during our meal. We were served a beautiful birthday dessert for one of our group however. Our meals were very good but we were all disappointed with what should have been an excellent evening. Our birthday person picked this especially from many positive reviews. I’m not certain that any of us would return. None of us are opposed to spending this much money but we want the food and service to be of the highest quality.

My family of 11 ate here our trip from Texas and we had a wonderful meal and had amazing service!! We had steak, wine, seafood and all of it was amazing!!! The best meal of our 12 day trip !!!

This restaurant has great ambiance and service. Our server, David, was fantastic. The steaks and side dishes are excellent. The restaurant has a cool drink menu as well. I wouldn't hesitate to return for great steak.

An excellent restaurant a stone's throw from our hotel. THE Prices are high, as is the soundscape, but the dishes are of very good quality.

Steak was done perfectly. Staff was amazing...attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Very busy, so definitely recommend reservations.

A stylish restaurant, committed and friendly waiter, portion size the price reasonable But: long waiting times and the steak didn’t meet the customers wishes Note: the solution was great: I got a new steak, a free dessert and an apology.

This is the second Mastro’s we’ve been to and it did not disappoint. Open only a week and a half it was crowded and lively. We ate in the bar with music in the corner. We shared a lobster bisque and a porterhouse steak with garlic mashed potatoes. We had about 1 million staffers the service was great. We encountered only one problem and that was with the bill. They have a new electronica system which involves bringing a small iPad to the table for the bill. When they brought the receipt I noticed they had charged double for the garlic mashed potatoes. They took my receipt and brought back a new receipt with both garlic mashed potatoes deducted from the bill but I found out later they had neglected to run their credit through the credit card terminal. I’m now having to dispute the bill but I’m sure it will work out fine

My husband and I celebrated our 16 year anniversary here recently and had the time of our lives. The food and the service was simply amazing! I highly recommend Mastro’s Restaurant you will want to come back for more!

I love this brand and have previously been to their Beverly Hills, Phoenix and Scottsdale restaurants. The restaurant here provided the usual fantastic food and high service certainly no complaints there. Unfortunately I just found the ambiance of the restaurant well below par. It probably didn’t help that we were placed on a table on the terrace. Whilst the terrace was well covered and heated it just lacked any of that intimate atmosphere. The good thing is my mother enjoyed the experience. It was her 80th birthday and unsolicited the restaurant gave her some ice cream with a candle which was a nice touch. Pricewise not cheap but overall a nice evening. Having said that whilst I will go to other Mastro’s in the future if I am being honest if I am back in SF anytime soon I will probably avoid a return. Tks there

Holiday dinner with friends. Great table by window, but service was lacking form the minute we sat down. No menus, no drinks…atmosphere was ok? Not the upscale luxe environments of other mastros. I like the Scottsdale one . I ordered a lobster roll as I was looking for something a little smaller . it was not good.steaks and fish on table were cooked nicely. Wine was nice pours . The sautéed spinach was over garlicked .. star of the evening was the butter cake which was excellent and large ..great for a party of 4 to split. Delicious . With so many great options in the city.. I would not go here again. Not sure why this was selected in the first place .. it’s one thing in Newport or Scottsdale but there are too many great eats in SF to go to a chain steakhouse at the holiday .

Wonderful birthday dinner, steak and seafood was very tasty! Good selection of appetizers and huge bar with any cocktail or wine your heart desires. Upstairs dining room is very nice and the open air roof during the summer is inviting with the stars above. Great to celebrate a birthday or special event. A bit pricey but worth the experience. Enjoyed it!

The place was nice. I sat at the bar. The barman, Joseph, was excellent. The steak however was awful. I have never been to a steak house that didn’t know how to make a steak medium rare. I was close to raw on the inside. I actually left some meat on my plate. The vibe was good, but simple details, like the size and heft of the fork went completely ignored. I had a salad fork to eat my $72 steak with. Embarrassing.

I would give this review 0/5 if I could. I planned a dinner for ten at a five star restaurant and expected an amazing experience in exchange I was willing to spend a lot of money. I have had better service at a Denny’s. 1. We arrive and are told to go to the 3rd floor for our table - ee get to third floor and they tell us to go to 2nd floor. Finally, they figure out where our table is. 2. When the entire party is sat, the amount of time for our waiter to arrive is over 15 minutes. 3. Ordering drinks they take 15 minutes to arrive and some are forgotten. When reordering, it takes another 15 minutes. 4. My wife ordered Club Soda and was given Tonic Water… 5. Our waiter disappeared, and we have to continuously wave him down so we can order food or drinks 6. Food for the table came out over a period of 20 minutes. Some got their food early, some middle, some late. 7. All the sides were cold. 8. All of the steak and lamb dishes (at a steakhouse) were over or under cooked. The fish and chicken dishes were fine. My bone in filet was ICE COLD in the middle and raw, as if it frozen prior was not defrosted all the way. Not Medium Rare for sure. 9. When the waiter arrived again, no offer for dessert, just the check given to me with the Forced Gratuity for groups… The Manager was nice enough to know that our experience was a complete mess, and took care of a round of drinks and one of the steaks that was completely over cooked, and even asked if he could call me the next day to discuss the experience. But, he didn’t call. Do not come here. Go to Harris Steakhouse instead. If you want to drop $200-$250 per person on dinner; this is NOT the place. Texas Roadhouse would be better.

Awesome place, with excellent food and service. We had an excellent entree and main was an excellent steak, cooked to perfection. Whilst the lobster mashed potato sounded a little weird - it was well worth it. Give it a try. Wine menu was massive and sommelier spot on with recommendations. Well worth it

Hadn’t heard about this chain before. Probably for a good reason. Services was terrible, food average, nothing to write home about, priced for the indiscriminate date or business dinner with expense account. I could have had 1-2 star Michelin for the same, this deserves a mention in the “avoid” section. Wine list is run of the mill, cocktail wait time was 30 minutes, special order horseradish mashed potatoes was mostly horse radish, lacking any sophistication in the kitchen, meat was fine and tender, but unremarkable. Check had several errors. Check in was so complicated and took forever. Highly doubt this can survive in SF but as a tourist trap.

When you enter, you'll be placed in the elevator and instructed which floor to get out on. A host will greet and seat you. But I suspect, you're paying for this service in the price o your food. No joke! You can easily spend a grand here. But as I observed with one tourist family, If you just ordered one main and a bunch of sides to split among the whole group, you could get away far much less costly. For us, it was a thick rib-eye which couldn't be finished on site. And lobster mac and cheese which was really rich and lacked a whole lot of its main ingredient. Sides included garlic mashed as well as an iceberg wedge. And, of course, cocktails and wine. Service was average. Obviously the waitstaff is spread among several tables. And when there is an especially large party to tend to, it might be a while before they check in on you again. The center of town location makes this place easily walkable from most hotels. So bring your credit card and make sure it's got a fairly high limit.

First visit as its new in this area . Great Bar hade many choices for singke malt drinker as well nice wine list. Some excotomg steaks to choose from. Food was tops and service was as expected very prompt. While the place is pricy its very worth a visit ir 2 . Would recomend. Its a concept similat to Mortons or Ruth Kris but a step up.

Really good classic steakhouse, new to San Francisco but popular in Scottsdale for years. Big, delicious food, be careful not to over order unless you plan to take home. Wine is spendy, but a few reasonable choices are available. I had seared tuna and my date had scallops, both delish.

We were there for a party. The waitstaff was beyond fabulous. Could not have been ore attentive, courteous, & helpful. We had an issue (personal problem) & everyone went above and beyond. food was great!

Friends made reservations for a birthday dinner here after trying the Mastros in Beverly Hills. If you're looking for upscale fine steakhouse dining, this is it. Allow time - you don't want to rush your meal here. Our party of 4 took almost 3 hours. We arrived early and ordered a cocktail at the bar. The Mastros Martini, Dirty was a perfect start. This is a new restaurant, but you can tell the management took care to choose experienced staff - every person who helped us that night was a pro. We brought wine to open - a French Bordeaux and a California cab. Corkage is $40 for an outside wine. Mastros offers an impressive array of starters: their famous seafood tower, sushi, soups, and like all good steakhouses, salad selections include an iceberg wedge. I started with the roasted bone marrow - delectable, served with lightly toasted crostini. An incredible crab cocktail and salads rounded out our first courses. All sides are a la carte, and many cuts and sizes of steak are offered. There are fish and chicken options as well. Most in our party chose steak, one chose fish (roasted Branzino), all were pronounced delicious. I chose the smallest filet cut, and we ordered asparagus and lobster mashed potato sides. My steak was a 3"-inch thick piece of perfection, and both sides were delicious. We also had a special dessert - two of their signature items, a chocolate layer cake and the Mastros butter cake. Yum for days. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely return. Can't wait to try the rooftop!

We made a last minute decision to have a steak dinner and we had a Morton’s nearby. We noticed there was a Mastro’s on the next block. Not knowing anything about it, we decided to give it a try. It was a great decision! The food and the service were amazing. Ryan made the experience spectacular and he was supported by an incredible wait staff. We ordered the bone-in filet, bone-in ribeye, and the rack of lamb. All were cooked to perfection. Overall it was an amazing evening, made so by the excellent staff.

So considering this has only been open a couple of days the service was excellent! The training each and every member of staff has received must have been very extensive! Our server was Kirsten, she was fabulous! She was helpful, knowledgeable and fun! The venue is beautiful... noisey, but that’s because it was so busy and actually it was OK, just full of people have a great time! The food was impeccable! The 12oz bone in fillet was perfect! The whole experience was great from start to finish!

I ate here by myself on a weekday (on a business trip...). I did not book, but was able to eat at the bar, which worked very well despite being busy. The restaurant was surprisingly busy, and would describe it as trendy (dark, band in the corner). The steak was excellent, and particularly enjoyed the roasted bone marrow. Portions of the sides are huge (even the half portions). Pricey - but broadly in line with other decent steakhouses.

The service and steak are very good here. It is your typical steakhouse, where everything is al la carte. The desserts are exceptional. The cheesecake is the best cheesecake I have ever tasted. Their signature butter cake was delicious as well.

This restaurant has it all. I sat at the bar and had a light dinner and wine. The best Caesar Salad and wine not to mention the great staff that takes care of you. Ease dropping the other meals served, they looked so delicious as well. I will be back for a full dinner.

The service impeccable. Love that touch tables to make sure that each dinner had a pleasurable dining experience. Our server Erick was the best We will surely be back and will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Went here for dinner and I’ll cover the highlights: Food was very good. Shrimp Cocktail was excellent and steaks great. Musician was super talented. Areas for improvement. Check in: took ages and the lady on the check in seemed overwhelmed. The “strict” dress code I was told on the phone? Laughable. People in hoodies, trainers and hats all over the place. Service was appalling at the beginning. Sat waiting for 20 mins for a drinks order. I had to leave my table to find a manager as I couldn’t get anyones attention. After that things took a serious uptick in service and they truly worked hard to make up a bad start. Hence the 4 stars.

Awesome meat experience. Very large table but didn’t spoil the experience. Service was very good. Steaks all looked awesome and my filet was perfect and melt in the mouth. Lobster Mac and cheese as a side is decadent and expensive! Sides are huge so listen to the servers when they give you advice about how much you might need!
Great steak .. modern style location
We tried this on our penultimate night in town .. Mastro’s has really taken up the mantle to vie for top US steakhouse in the premium sector and I think on balance , their steaks are probably the best these days although between Ruth’s Chris and Morton’s and Mastro’s the line is very blurred and the quality of all 3 is excellent . This particular location appears to be 3 floors .. you check in at a reception desk in what looks like an office building . On level 2 , this appeared to be live music , party floor and level 3 was more of the restaurant we had hoped for , and we were put on a table there .. I have to say it was a little bland .. like eating your table in the middle of a TJ Maxx store but on the second floor the noise sounded like a high school graduation party mashed with a Beyoncé concert , so we were in the best place this particular evening , in our opinion . The steaks were amazing .. best of the big 3 chains on this trip hand down . The wine list was very good also .. a very comprehensive selection . My wife and I were very impressed with the meal , not so much with the location .. although staying at the Westin we were a one min walk back to the hotel , so everything has an upside . Great steak , go for the food , maybe not so much the architecture ..
