This is another Best Place for Authentic Japanese. It is located in strip mall on SW 40th St. (Bird Rd.) and SW 57th Ave (Red Road). You need to get here early for dinner because, it gets packed. Everything is made as it would be made in Japan, not Western or Americanized. Their food is great and the rice is the best that I ever had. If you are looking to eat authentic Japanese this is the place.

The sushi & sashimi are for sure the best in Miami. Still no matter what time expect huge lines and you will never be comfortable seated due to the tiny space & horrible acoustics. Having said that, then the question is how much are you willing to sacrifice to taste a great sushi.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years!!! It is a honest and very good Japanese place!!! The food is great and the service is very good.

I'm sitting here in Michigan wondering when I will get to eat here again. It's that good. Had the fortune to dine here twice in the last several weeks while in Miami on business. Blown away by the difference I could taste. I am drooling sitting here thinking of the tuna tartar (on the menu as #164 Mr. Bush's 3:00pm). Seriously, amazing freshness you could taste. The sushi place does sushi right. Do not miss the "Invitation to the White House" roll. My absolute favorite. We ordered it twice in the same night. Once at the beginning and again toward the end of the meal. Again, it's that good. One word of caution - the tables are super close together so it is not ideal for a business dinner.

Bar far the best fish quality in Miami! Matsuri is the best sushi place! Always ask for: house saladewith extra dressing, a bowl of brown rice, busch, yukee, hip hop roll and tuna bbq! The best! Sometimes chinese people tend to be very angry and some of the waiters are chinese so don't expect kindness. The price of the food is amazingly cheap and the quality is the best you can expect! Go there!

I know you should never say that something is cheap or less expensive but after we saw our bill, we were very much amazed of what we just received for lunch and what it would cost us. The restaurant is busy, what you always want to see of a restaurant serving this kind of food. The quality of the Sashimi was just fantastic and the Sushi rolls and everything else was just amazing. We called ahead to make a reservation and received a great table next to the bar where the food was prepared. What else you can ask for when you bring two kids. The food came out in a timely manor and as already mentioned, the quality was top. What else do you want when going for a good lunch? We were very happy when we left and will come back when in the area next time.

Full of people, cannot get in without reservations. It is a little noisy. Service is very good and the best of it is the Sushi. They have good desserts too.

Sushi was good but the other Japanese dishes were lacking in flavoring. The lunch time is very busy and noisy. The service was not friendly and may even say rude. So in a way I was was a little disappointed. But its the same as all the other thai Japanese so I guess I just wanted better. The price was not expensive.

Lunch service is prompt and the $9 box lunches are a terrific value (as they were when they cost $7 years ago, and then $8). I typically see at least a couple of tables with Japanese businessmen at lunch, which to me speaks highly of the quality of the food, reasonable authenticity and value. The restaurant is fairly noisy when full, but the decor is modern and elegant and very welcoming.

Every time I get to Miami and get off the plane, the first thing I do is go to this little gem in Miami. He has been here for many years, without pretense just doing one thing: serving the best and freshest sushi in Miami!!

What can I say, this is the place we always go whenever we wanna have the best Japanese food. Sushi here is absolutely delicious and items from the hot kitchen are to die for too. Place is always packed, call for reservation before you go

To me its the best sushi we have going in Miami. What I really mean is American style. The spicy tuna, the California roll, typical sashimi together with a few more traditional. But it has the best and freshest fish around. The two things I don't like: 1) the is always a wait (for good reason) and 2) I want better chopsticks, I don't like cheap chopsticks. Great food at a great price.

See good review on internet. Hokkaido Uni is out of bound, very clean and fresh, delicious after taste. Sweet shrimp and spider roll are average. Hamachi karma is very fresh

This is one of my favorite Japanese gems in all of Miami! My friend introduced me to Matsuri because he's been a long time regular for their lunch special and after trying it I can definitely see why! Located in a large shopping mall, it's a small restaurant with plenty ambiance. It does get a little cozy when it's crowded (which it often is) but the high quality service never makes it feel like a problem. I recently took my boyfriend to try their famed $9 bento box lunch special in which he was surprised not knowing about since he used to live in the area. We sat at the sushi bar and the restaurant was already filled. The owner of the restaurant does everything right----you constantly watch him circle his sushi chefs as he keeps an eye on different staff members which is why eating at Matsuri is always an excellent experience. We ordered two rolls alongside our bento boxes which was way too much food; the box is plenty enough for a meal (comes with California rolls/salad) and there is a large variety of options so you can build your box to your taste preference. My boyfriend got: shrimp tempura & sashimi within his box and raved about it. Freshest sashimi he's had since he last went spear fishing and the best California rolls he's ever tasted---considering that he hates them. I ordered the same thing and was very satisfied. I've been here for dinner as well which is an extensive menu of sushi, rolls, and authentic Japanese dishes----none have disappointed me thus far. If you love quality sushi this a must try restaurant! IG: @KFitzEats

Suffice it to say that the table next to us was populated by six Japanese businessmen who seemed to enjoy their meal very, very much.

The food at Matsuri is extremely fresh and prices are fair for the quality. Certainly one of the best sushi / sashimi in town! Service is slow and confusing. A reservation does not mean a table will be waiting for you; but rather you will be placed ahead in the seating list upon your arrival.

This used to be the best sushi in Miami. The food is still good, but it no longer is great. Place always busy

What does a nondescript strip mall in Miami have in common with the world's largest fish market in Tokyo? Excellent sushi. Unlike sushi restaurants bordering Tsukiji, however, Matsuri also offers a variety of teriaki, tempura, meat, seafood, tofu, and noodle dishes, and a good selection of soups and salads. Special Lunch Box choices provide an excellent introduction -- miso soup, salad, 6 California rolls, and your choice of 10 different mini-entree combinations -- for only $9.00.

It was a quite restaurant where you can enjoy with sumptuous dinner with wine at a resonable price. The staffs are courteous. It is a nice place to dine for Sushi lovers.

If you are a connoisseur of Japanese food and you want to indulge in exquisite flavored dishes beautifully plated making each meal a special moment, then Matsuri is your best bet. Situated in Coral Gables, on the famed “Bird Road”, it has become a much appreciated venue by its diners. It is a small, familiar restaurant that features a devoted customer service and a wide-ranging menu with wines and beers. We suggest that you book in advance so as to avoid being put on long waiting lists.

Love this place. We have been coming for so long. The food is simply delicious. The restaurant is small and is always packed. I suggest reservation. Kanisu salad my favorite!

Finding a good Japanese Restaurant in Miami it is like needle in a haystack, luckily I found it in the most unexpected place. Before coming to Matsuri a co-worker just kept talking and talking about it and I just didn’t find the motivation to go. Maybe I was a bit Jaded and kept putting it off since its hard to find a place with authentic Japanese dishes. Well, I am kicking myself in the butt for not coming earlier. It opens at 5:30, so I got there a bit early waited outside on a bench must been around 5:15. At 5:20 a few people start to show up I didn’t care much only a few heads. 5:27 there was a line. As soon as you come in you go from Miami to a restaurant in Tokyo. Everything reminds me of Japan, the lighting ,the smell, sushi bar. I take a sit and start browsing through the menu. First thing that catches my attention is the affordable prices and how it has authentic Japanese dishes. I try to get smart and ask the waitress for things not available in the English menu, Salmon Onigiri, Ramen, takoyaki (which I was sad they did not have) but they do have Okonomiyaki; the only place in all Miami that serves this. She brings me the salmon Onigiri fairly quick to my surprise it was a bit bigger than usual and tasty. The okonomiyaki is really close to how its made in Japan. The Toro Tuna (Fatty) is like butter. To finish it off I had the Mismo Ramen with extra moyashi (bean sprouts) The Ramen was delicious and to die for I managed to leave the bowl empty After eating all this I wanted to eat more but I just could not eat anything else. I’m glad I found a spot I can go to and eat authentic Japanese food at affordable prices. Only thing I would ask for is to have Takoyaki in their menu. Until then I will happily re-visit and enjoy their great food.

I love sushi. This place it grate and sever a high quality they so nice i fall in love this place. Highly recommended !!!!!

Time after time kept on getting disappointed. Long lines for mediocre service. Appointments not respected. Used to be decent and now simply a table churner - no longer an authentic Japanese food nor experience. Find a better place.

Nice, clean little place to join friends for sushi. Fresh food and great service. Although you make reservations and they are truly not valid, as it is a fist come first serve and it gets full very quickly.

if you want to spend a lot of money and still be hungry, then this is your place, quality is good, but they will need to increase the sizes of the plates, otherwise the restaurant will disappoint customers

This place has been around for years but have never gotten around to dining here. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The service was good but the real prize here is the sushi and sashimi. It was fresh, delicious and great presentation. Overall, very good and will return. Happy Dining

Matsuri has been the best Japanese in Miami for the last 20 years. It is so much better than the hipped up Zuma that it continues to be surprising that some people think Zuma is actually good. Zuma has a better ambiance, but if you like sushi and sashimi this is the place to go.

It's hidden gem and is defiantly a restaurants for locals . The fish is always fresh and the service always fast. My favorite rolls crunchy hippo , mr. bush and the salmon sushi. The salmon here is always fresh and outstanding. Oh yea the prices for the quality you get is a defiantly a deal!

Hands down the best sushi in Florida. There are fancier looking places, but the quality here cannot be beat. It's locals only. If you know, you know. They don't do reservations and you have to wait 1-2 hours to get a table. It's a small place. But it's worth it. I like to choose randomly from the menu because it's safe to be adventurous here.

The staff are very unfriendly, hardly even smile, which makes for an unwelcoming atmosphere, unless you come in with a big party. They were completely unaccommodating when I was there with my toddler. The Japanese menu seems like a facade because the food doesn't taste particularly authentic as it's quite mediocre.

Miami is internationally known for its crappy and expensive sushi places (aka Sushi Samba, Sushi Siam, Sushi Maki, etc...). What's great about Matsuri is the consistent quality of the sushi and the reasonable prices. One of my favorite dishes is the chirashi "A". Absolutely one of the best I've had anywhere.

Although the food is okay, this place has gone down the tubes since I was last there a few months ago. We showed up for a reservation and had to wait almost half an hour after the time we reserved. Our server never explained any of the dishes despite our asking. Then, towards the end of the meal, without having yet ordered dessert, she brought us the check. I then told her we had not yet ordered dessert, and she took the check back. As for the food, the portions have gotten a lot smaller. The highlight of the dinner were the sushi rolls, which are tasty and authentic. But not good enough to put up with the lousy service.

Been going to matsuri for 30 years every time come into town home away from home for sushi. Now I have to wait 20 minutes to get in. Well worth the wait.great selection of every kind of Japanese food.

We have been eating at Matsuri for years, and love it! For some reason, the take out is never as good (last time it was downright not good). For dining at the restaurant, it is our favorite sushi spot and the entire menu is great.

This chef really know what he is doing and serves a really high quality fish! A friend of mine has been raving about this place for years and finally checked it out and it was amazing. If you love sushi, it is worth the trip

We've been to a lot of sushi places around town and none have compared to our favorite- Sakura in Pinecrest. Matsuri has come very close! Went for lunch and the place was full, but we got a table right away and couldn't believe the service! Excellent! We had the salmon teriyaki lunch special which included miso soup and garden salad with ginger dressing. We also tried the Crunchy Hip Hop Rolls and the Your Size Rolls- fantastic! For dessert we went for the banana tempura with green tea ice cream! Wow! Wow! Wow! So good! Best we've ever had! The only reason Sakura's in Pinecrest is still our #1 is because their salmon teriyaki is seriously The Best!!! Walked over to Gilbert's for a cortadito after. The parking in this strip mall is challenging.

We had an amazing meal and got the matsuri combination platter. It was delicious! We will be back again and highly recommend!

A very good friend recommended me this sushi restaurant saying this maybe the best sushi in Miami! Restaurant was full (we called for a reservation, good idea!), indicating what a great place it is. We had green tea and a variety of sashimi, green tea ice cream to finish! Just delicious!

We had a "good" dinner at Matsuri. Atmosphere was great, service quick and efficient. Food was good but some nigri pieces on the smaller side. Salmon carpacio salad was great. Overall a good meal.

The seafood soup was amazing. We tried many dishes and shared them. Ate way too much. Worth it! Def plan on going back. Price worth the quality.

You can tell that the owner is Japanese, the food was really great, it's going to be a must, every time I come to Miami!!!, the sashimi, the rolls, the tofu, everything was delicious!!,

Fresh food at great prices. The toro is the best i have had. Only negative is the wait but is worth it

We were a large group and shared many great dishes from miso soup to a variety of vegetarian appetizers (the eggplant was especially good), nigiri and temaki rolls. Everything was colorful, fresh and tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was friendly and quick for such a large group. The decor is very nice and modern. I would definitely return!

The best sushi that doesn't (does NOT)cost hundreds of dollars per person like other spots in Miami. Blue Fin Tuna is like butter, but everything is good.

Matsuri is a VERY popular strip mall Japanese restaurant in the busy intersection of Bird Road and Red Road -- It's very good for a "neighborhood" restaurant that has a widespread following of dinning fans. We arrived before 7:00 pm on a characteristically busy night -- the half-occupied restaurant was 100% full by 7:30 pm. The interior is "simple" Japanese dinning tables, and the noise level on this night made Matsuri one of the most objectionably noisy places that I've ever dined at. The service was pleasant but "average". We tried the following items: cold Wakame (seaweed) salad - spicy & tasty Bird's nest fried noodles - strange, cold, crispy "noodle" -- would not order this item again Shigiyaki - deep-fried eggplant w/ miso sauce -- Delicious!! Must try!! Matsuri roll - tuna, avocado, crab -- good (but nothing spectacular) X roll - shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy mayo -- very tasty! One of my fave rolls Matsuri chicken wings sauteed in Asian sauce -- really tasty!! Matsuri has a large menu with lots of rolls, sashimi, meats, seafoods, and vege's -- plenty to chose from. To repeat: It's a very good neighborhood Japanese restaurant.

I went to Matsuri after reading some of the ratings and reviews. I was very disappointed by the cold soba noodle which I ordered as a starter. The soba noodles were chopped and already placed in the tsuyu soup, which is wrong. Cold soba noodles should be served separately from the soup. The tsuyu dip was too salty. When they served me my plate of sashimi, they did it serve white rice to accompany the sashimi. The quality of the sashimi was average, nothing special. The whole dinner was rushed because they served salad, soba and sashimi at the same time. It'll the restaurant is acceptable given no better alternative in the area.

Nothing over-the-top about the atmosphere inside Matsuri. The service could not be described as overly hospitable. And then there is the sushi! Sensational! The quality of their food makes up for any deficit in service and starkness of setting. We enjoyed many different types of roles. All excellent. The octopus is amazing. Already looking forward to returning!

It is well plriced the food is good and it very zen inside. I enjoyed it alot. THey have single plates or plates that are meant to be shared. The rolls are fresh and the sake is nice and warm

My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday we do not live in Miami we were visiting and saw good reviews. However our server barely made eye contact and how they use the phone to take orders I hated that! It made her seem very rude even if she wasn't! Our food was alright so in that aspect it was good. However i came to realize a few days later my account had been hacked in Miami well the only place I used my card was at this establishment so someone in the restaurant stole my info so if I could give anyone advice if you do go is USE CASH!!!

Went for lunch today. We ordered 2 lunch box. Fresh , good aspect , tasty. Very good . Service is good, fast and smiling . Price is excellent . Enjoy asap

We had a reservation, but still had to wait for a table. The place is small , very busy , and extremely noisy. Can’t carry on a coverage without raising your voice . Our waitress had long long nails, which were getting into peoples food and cups..Yuk!It was just gross. She forgot part of our order and never came back to the table to dress if we needed / washed anything else The food is very very good.

We called for takeout. We were told they were very busy which is fine, and said to come in one hours time. When we arrived to pickup our order we had to wait an additional 50 minutes! We understand the night was busy, but then give a reasonable time, so we can plan accordingly. While waiting other customers who had also come for pick up had the same complaint. If the order will take 2 hours, then say so.

When you walk into a Sushi restaurant in Miami and see that it's primarily inhabited by Asians/Japanese patrons you get a warm and fuzzy feeling that you are in the right place. It's also good that the owner of the restaurant speaks little to no English. (Not rare in Miami to find a Sushi restaurant owned by a Cuban, but not here). And that there's an alternative Japanese menu for those who can read it. Real deal sushi. Loyal following 30 years plus. !!

First time to this restaurant and also the last time. Servers need a course on customer service . Not friendly or attentive . Like pulling teeth when trying to get information on the menu. Rude!

Hidden in an outdoor mall this place had such a nondescript entrance that at first I figured we went to the wrong place. We took a seat at the bar and were blown away by the authenticity of the flavors, the ambiance and the wonderful smells and colors of the food. And all of that for a real reasonable price. Will definitely come back!

Matsuri offers the dishes you've heard of and eaten elsewhere as well as the funky, you-can-only-find-it-here dishes. I'm very picky about my sushi and am never hesitant to order the raw fish here because it is always fresh. Yes, it's often crowded and sometimes loud. Yes, the tables are pretty close together. Yes, you sometimes have to wait, but it's all worth it because the food is wonderful.

I’ve had sushi and sashimi in many places even Asia and with this gem I no longer need to travel. One of the best ever. Authentic. Fresh. Delicious

No this isn't some fancy South Beach overpriced sushi place. But it's the best in town. The sushi and sashimi are excellent, cut just right and the right temperature. Menu is extensive. Besides sashimi I like gyoza, tuna tataki, shrimp tempura and many other items. The salad with the ginger dressing is awesome. Wondering if this is a good restaurant? Don't take my word for it. Just look at the number of Japanese patrons there every night.

The food was very good, but it was not an enjoyable meal. The restaurant has its tables 4 inches apart where we were sitting. We could not hear each other over the loud talkers next to us. We had planned on getting a bottle of wine and having a relaxing dinner. Instead we decided to eat and get out and have wine elsewhere. It worked out that all of our food, appetizer and all, showed up at the same time.

You would never expect to find very good Japanese food in a nondescript strip mall like this one. So I am sure you will be greatly surprised. They have a variety of sashimi, sushi, teriyaki and a bunch more. Very good value for the food

No regard for all customers or quality. Sad story of a Miami staple that has deteriorated parallel to the immigration that has arrived in our once special city. An embarrassment to the best sushi in Miami which it once was.

Tried the spicy avocado salad which was the highlight of the meal followed by the American Idol sushi roll which included various seafoods and a spicy mayo sauce. I tried the tempura ice cream which I regretted. This is an above average Japanese restaurant with fresh ingredients and well prepared food.

We really enjoyed both the food and the service. Fish was fresh, not frozen. Nice presentation and excellent drinks

If you enjoy true Japanese sushi (authentic), you have to go to Matsuri. Fresh sushi, reasonably priced for sushi. Own and operated by Japanese. We always order Go to Ren for two ($60) because it is the best quality of Sashimi and sushi in one plate Make reservations or be ready to wait. It is very popular.

Let's face it, all Sushi is farm raised, and that's ok. But what sets this place apart are two things for me. The rice and the Toro. The rice is made the way Sushi Rice is supposed to be made. Sticky, vinegary, and a tad sweet. Every other place is dry like the kind you would have at home. But for me it's the Toro which is hard to find and usually so overpriced it's just not worth it. At $4.50 per piece it's so well priced I eat 10 pieces each time I go. Everything on the menu is exceptional and the service is quick, efficient, and friendly. You better make a reservation on the weekend. It's the best food and value of any Sushi Restaurant in Miami.

It is the second time I went to Matsuri for lunch and I confirmed my first impression. It is the best quality/price ratio for. Japanese restaurant in Miami. Food is amazing, fish is great, and the special full lunch for USD 30 is a given compared to any similar Japanese restaurant I have already been in Miami Dade. You do need to reserve because it is always full. Delicious!!

Matsuri is the most authentic sushi in Miami. I’ve been eating at Matsuri for about 10 years and while we eat sushi at other places in Miami, Matsuri is the best. The food is fresh, well prepared and delicious. The service is always attentive and it is one of the few places in Miami where you can get sea eel—one of my favorites that I learned to eat while on a business trip to Tokyo and we ate at an amazing sushi bar in the fish market. Matsuri has extensive soup selection. I prefer the spicy seafood options. The rolls are also varied but pretty authentic. They don’t have rolls with cream cheese or Latin fusion options like plantains, but I prefer this. Great service, delicious authentic food and fair prices makes Matsuri one of the best sushi restaurants in Miami and my personal favorite!

I haven't been here in 12 years, last time I visited Coral Gables. You get the freshest fish. service has been excellent every time I have visited. One time I visited years ago they were quite overwhelmed with overwhelming people coming at once. Everything I had top notch. I always come here when in town. Matursa has been the owner for over 37 years. and has kept the restaurant on top. He's still running the place but just starting to get salt and pepper hair. Still very humble about his restaurant.

We had high expectations and they were fulfilled. Nice environment and decoration. Really good and fresh food. Huge menu with reasonable prices. And despite the long line to get a table, they were super nice with our kids! (the chef was playing tricks for them). We will be back!

Going to a restaurant is much more than just the taste of the food. Doesn't matter if food is good if they mistreat you in order to be served. Matsuri is not what you expect from a Japanese restaurant. Lying about tables available to make you come, in order to discover that there is a line, IS A DISGRACE. Costumers should be able to make reservations or be given an hones expectation of waiting time, but not lying in our faces...! Sad to see a Japanese restaurant to stain what it means to be Japanese...

We made a reservation to 7 pm by dialing the phone an hour prior. The restaurant is in Coral Gables. We were given a table next to the entrance of this little restaurant. The place is full and there were people waiting to be seated also. The waitress was fine, tried to serve quickly. We ordered a lot, most was tasting fine. Miso soup was good, sashimis and sushi were fresh and tasty as well. It is not your dream to die for sushi, but that is not in Miami at all, so I think it is decent, good, but can’t give it five stars, because it is simply not.

The food was very good with excellent value for money. The only problem was that the waitress allowed herself to comment on our tip. Being students, our budget was not very large and our tip was only what we could afford. These derogatory remarks were unnecessary and even downright shameful.

Matsuri is hands down the best authentic Japanese food in Miami. The food is beautifully displayed and at an amazing price point. The atmosphere is friendly and a great place for children. If you're looking for REAL Japanese food, this is the place.

The service was very friendly and the food was amazing, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and is obviously very popular because they always seem busy. But never busy enough that it effects the wonder service.

We've eaten here numerous times over the years as well as many other sushi places in South Florida. There are quite a few good ones, but Matsuri has been and remains the best. Everything is very fresh, both the BBQ tuna and the raw tuna mixed with scallions and a spicy suave are outstanding. The rolls are great. Prices are reasonable with choices not found in other local restaurants. Years ago, it was a dump inside--now it's beautiful and inviting. Excellent service. Ignore the strip mall location and enjoy the food and the dining experience.

We asked at the Japanese Consulate where we could get some good Japanese food - not just American-style sushi as so many so-called "Japanese restaurants" feature. Although Matsuri had a varied menu, including tempura, which is how I measure Japanese restaurants, literally everyone in the packed, crowded late-lunch crowd was eating sushi. Although we were seated pretty quickly (my 90-year-old Japanese mother and I), we took a quick glance at the menu but we couldn't discuss it because the place was SO NOISY. I should have been suspect when the host had to pull the table out so that my mother could get in. That's how close the tables are. And my ears were ringing. We had to leave because the restaurant was SO LOUD that I was starting to get a headache. We couldn't even talk to each other. The chatter and proximity to the neighboring tables was just too much. This is NOT the atmosphere for a Japanese dining experience. Cramped, yes. Noisy, no. Did not expect this ever, but especially not at 2pm. We expected a calm, peaceful, delicious meal. Even if the food was fabulous, it would not be worth it. The hole-in-wall Cuban buffet just a few doors down was just fine and CALM.

Family dined and had a great dinner. If you are looking to enjoy Japanese cuisine including sashimi and sushi this is the place to eat.

Don't expect a very fancy restaurant, but the food is really good, and is easy to evaluate by the "local" Japanese people in the restaurant...they approve it and is the best reference you can have. Reservation for dinner is recommended.

By busy, I mean lines and "fast" service, doesn't take their time to explain much and don't seem to want to wait for you to decide, which is hard because the menu is big and you want to study it carefully. We ordered 7 small dishes (prices ranging from $6- $12) for 2 people, good to try different options and was fulfilling. Krabmeat with watercress and egg was pretty good. The gobo (burdock) was delicious but the portion was tiny. Tuna with quail egg was the best! Spicy liver was ok, good tempura, but I didn't like the fried squid legs, felt greasy. Fried sushi with aspargus was not much either. Final bill $100 for two (with $18 sake).

Very consistently good Japanese food. Not the best in Miami, but certainly in the top quartile. In a non-descript strip mall and somewhat blah interior, but they make up for it with the food.

This place was packed on a Tuesday night in August. We choose it from the good ratings from Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. The food was sooo good. We were welcomed at 9pm on a Tuesday eve after moving our daughter into UM and were immediately impressed by the hospitality of the staff. Food was of high quality and delivered timely. Sushi was of good quality and the other dishes were enjoyed by all in our family. Looking forward to going back.

In my opinion this long time favorite still has the best sushi in Miami. The line out the door at lunch time and dinner should be an indication. This restaurant is in a strip mall, next to the Milam's supermarket. It is small but the food is amazing and the service quick and efficient. A must try!

When traveling, I try to find new Sushi places to enjoy. The atmosphere was wonderful and the place was busy on a Wednesday evening. All good signs. The food was excellent and the quality was very good. Service was friendly and Sushi came quickly and disappeared just as fast. Will definitely return the next time I am in town.

Located in a large strip mall on the busy intersection of Bird Road (SW 40 Street) and Red Road (SW 57 Avenue), the modest, inconspicuous front entry to Matsuri belies a the VERY popular Japanese restaurant. The huge strip mall parking lot has ample free parking. Matsuri makes reservations by-phone (not "on-line"), and this is highly recommended. The interior is very simple, Japanese-style tables (mainly for 2 or 4 persons) (though there are a very larger party tables, as well as sushi bar seats). Matsuri's tables are densely crowded, and this low-ceiling'd restaurant is DEAFENINGLY noisy (Most nights, it's crowded!). The food is served promptly & efficiently dish-by-dish. Many of the dishes are in the $5 - $12 range. We enjoyed the following: Kirin Ichiban beer -- a good lager Plum wine - sweet, and nice Waskame cold seaweed salad - very tasty tiny shrimp dumplings (steamed) - very tasty Shigiyaki - deep-fried eggplant w/ miso -- MUST TRY!! (We got one per person!!) Tuna Tataki - seared tuna w/ ponzu - very good Matsuri Chiken Wings - fried, & served w/ tangy Asian sauce -- DELICIOUS!! X-Roll- shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy mayo -- one of my favorites The menu is actually quite large -- LOTS of choices of sushi rolls, sashimi, vegetables, salads, meats, et cetera. Matsuri remains a VERY popular neighborhood-style restaurant that is a significant better quality than most other Japanese restaurants. There's a reason than we (and A LOT of other people) keep coming back!

Can't go wrong here. This place is tucked into a strip mall and is a true gem. Great service, food and atmosphere all in one. Sushi is about as fresh as it gets.

One of the best (if not the best) Japanese in Miami ! A very tiny , not pretentious restaurant with friendly servers and outstanding food. A little far from Miami but it worth every miles driven down there. Don't miss it.

I have been a customer of Matsuri for more than 27 years now. After eating japanese all around the world, I can assure that Matsuri is EXCELLENT. Excellent quality plus a good touch of creativity to bring some new world flair, make this a real favorite of everyone that visits it

I have eaten here at least 15 times over the past few years. Without any question, this is the best Japanese restaurant in town. Best quality, best everything. Nothing can compare to it.

The food is very good and the place is always packed with locals and with Japanese people young and old. Because it's so busy and packed it's not great for dining however when we're in the mood for sushi that's where we go.

This great place is on a strip mall ...almost hidden. This is the real deal when it comes to Japanese. they have a large menu from dumplings to raw or cook fish. This is a place that is always full of real Japanese people. They have a menu (in Japanese) that has more things of traditional Japanese food. They also serve Ramen Noodles, but they are not in the menu. The Japanese Bouillabaisse is superb and enough for 2, is a clear soup with some seafood and vegetables served in a traditional way. The sushi boats are great to share. 4-6 can eat from a 3 ps.

What a delight to be introduced to the best kept secret in Miami. Fresh Sushi, great lunch options and is always quite busy! Another good reason to check out Matsuri!

We were 4 couples…..it was Saturday night , we had 7:00 pm , we had reservations …….I don’t think we would have been seated without reservations ‼️…….it was very busy and loud……The food is excellent here, and it comes out fast!!……service is very good…..they use teamwork, so everyone is helping to get your food out……one complaint is that the soft shell crab 🦀 is tiny and it’s $16.00 🙄……I don’t think you can find a better Japanese restaurant in Miami….check it out, you will not be disappointed 🙌

When used to work in Miami, Matsuri was my lunch destination at least every 2 weeks, after moving out of state guess what, every time I go back to Miami this is my favorite spot, too many great dishes to pick, and always FRESH fish. Masa-san glad you kept high quality standards over the years

I visit this place every time I am in Miami to get proper quality sushi, Japanese style. If you are looking for rainbow rolls and that kind of stuff, you'll probably better off to go somewhere else. If you never had proper Japanese style sushi, this is a great place to start. The o-toro is always great, when they have sea urchin, that is always of high quality, really love the sushi. They are also serving a range of other Japanese dishes, so that is always an alternative, but I normally end up with the sushi mix or the sashimi mix, - or both Always busy and hard to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night.

A young, good friend kept telling me "Let's go to Matsuri; it's the best sushi restaurant" and I kept replying "I used to get invited there all the time; too expensive".......Well, it's true, I never paid for the many dinner that I had with a good friend years ago. However, I finally gave in and went a couple of weeks ago. On one hand, I had flash-backs of the great times I had there; and on the other, I had flash-backs of the great food and service they have! We arrived at 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon (they open at 5:30) and so glad we did. The place continues to get jam-packed by 6:00 pm and kept going and going; it really looked like Grand Central Station! I noticed lots of Asians eating there, which is a great sign of a great Japanese restaurant. I decided to be adventurous and allowed my appetite to be the ruler of my order! Started with two appetizers, Shrimp Spring Rolls (2) and Japanese mini veggie omlettes (about 10). The mini-omlettes were tough; actually, the first one was soft and delicious, but the next two were not and I didn't proceed. I told the waitress and she offered to bring something else, but I declined. The charge was removed. Due to not having had much to eat at lunch, I was hungry, so I ordered two different sushi rolls: My Roll and Matsuri Roll. These were absolutely delicious. My friend had the X-Roll, which consisted of shrimp tempura inside; she didn't like it. She also had a dish that didn't sound Asian at all, consisted of rice & beans and she really liked it. I decided to order the fried banana tempura and we all shared it; it was good. I found the place a bit too noisy for my taste. It is not a huge place, long areas with one table next to the other plus the sushi bar. We sat in a booth towards the back, but were surrounded by long tables. My thoughts of the place being 'expensive' was erroneous. Perhaps it appeared that way years ago. I found the prices were fine for the quality. My rolls were $10 and $11 and the appetizers were $6 and $8. I am willing to return to enjoy a really nice sushi dinner.

Delicious fresh fish. Delicious. The ahi and yellowtail sashimi were the best I have had in a while. Really good cuts of fish. The price is reasonable. Would not be fooled by the kimchi - not real Korean kimchi but I should have known better given it was a Japanese restaurant. If you're in the mood though for pickled vegetables (which we were) the tsukemono was very good. And the age-dashi was also very good.

Located In Coral Gables this small restaurant only seats 74. With a review of Zagat to rate food on a 75 scale, is a great place to lunch or dine. Very crowded on the weekends, be prepared to make reservations in advance.

This is some of the best sushi I have had, EVER. Definitely make a reservation because this place is well known and loved by locals and Japanese tourists. If you love unadulterated high quality sushi that knows nothing of mango, cream cheese or mayo sauces....this is your place. Oh, and it is extremely reasonably priced.

One of the few best Japanese food restaurants in Town by far. Excellent variety of sushi very fresh and tasty. Excellent variety of original Japanese and quality of food as well as the service. Is a restaurant to come back again and again. We went with friends and were together a two families and everybody was satisfied with all their dishes. Service is fast so you don't have to wait much for appetizers and food even when the restaurant was totally packed with people. Simply the best in its type I have every tried in Miami so far and I have had the chance to try several of them!! Enjoy...

Matsuri is one of the most consistently excellent sushi restaurants in Miami. Much of sushi in Miami is centered around maki - they have authentic nigiri, executed perfectly. This restaurant is fantastic every single time.

Totally lost in a middle of a small shopping mall, between Ace Hardware and a grocery shop, not a place where one would expect to find a top notch, sophisticated, Japanese restaurant - superbe products, fresh fish, both imaginative dishes and traditional fare. Worth a trip for a great diner at a decent price.

First time eating at this restaurant. It was packed and we had to wait about half an hour. No biggie since I like eating in places that shows a lot of movement. The ambiance is not what I prefer since all the tables are too close together and it is very loud. So I figured the food has to be fantastic. While some folks may think so, I am not one of them. It was just average. With everything tasting somewhat on the heavier salted side. While I really can't say it was bad, I can say I probably won't be going back. Unless of course I am invited and won't be picking up the check Much better sushi places in Miami. Doraku, Suchi Chef, Sushiko, the list goes on and on. Frankly I think they do as well as they do because of their location. They truly don't have a lot of competition in their immediate area.

Matsuri is the type of hidden gem we crave for. It’s very reasonable, casual and very full! It’s a great indicator when you see many of the locals are Japanese! I love the Mr Bush special and the Crunchy Hip Hop Roll.

We went last night almost before the kitchen close. No problem. A little fast but all personal was incredible !!! We had pork gyoza, negitoro wasabi, crunch hip roll, mix sashimi, salmon, tuna and toro To finish a wonderful banana with chocolate. A very nice experience and a wonderfull dinner

In my opinion one of the best Japanese restaurants in the city, it is not very central for the tourist but the spectacular food and freshest fish you could want

High quality food, reasonable mix of traditional and new age offerings. The Go-to-Ren special is a dream dish for two or more, only the best quality products find place in the plate. You will never be disappointed with quality and service, just don't expect South Beach clientele, nor prices (fortunately). Has lasted at the same high level of quality over many competitors for many years

I love sushi, but it can be a challenge to find a place that is consistently good. This place is great. The three of us had the Sushi Platter for three and every piece was great. And we had more than we could eat. There can be a wait to get in, but it is worth it. Highly recommended.

I eat here about 2 times a month. I tried the Nabeyaki Udon about 7 years ago and it was terrible. But I ventured to try it out and amazingly surprised it was very good. The shrimp tempura was about a 2/5 but the broth was very good. Everybody else at our table had sushi and it was excellent. I ordered scallops ikura and conch very good.

I don't know what the whole buzz is about in reviews of this restaurant. We were there as a group of 5 people. Ordered different stuff, sushi, roll, sashimi, miso soup, edamame, noodle soup etc. chicken screwed. everything was super regular and very average taste. Would luv say it's the best Japanese place.

Great Japanese food, authentic but pricey. They have excellent sushi, but take a chance to order some very nice authentic japanese dishes from their menu. (In Japan, sushi was intended as a "celebration food" and not to be eaten every day!) It can be quite crowded. If you are a sushi lover, splurge and try the toro. Trust me.

We had a great lunch today. We took the lunch box at $9 and we shared an appetizer. Very good all the way and very good service. Enjoy !

I visited Matsuri restaurant for dinner, and was pleasantly surprised by the very good quality of sashimi and unusual items including raw shrimps and sea urchin. Don't be surprised when they serve the shrimp tails raw first and then bring the other half of shrimps (yes, their heads with eyes and everything!) fried!

Went to Matsuri for the first time with a friend that lives in Miami and recommended it. It’s in a strip mall in Coral Gables, nice space with indoor seating only. We went early as was told that there is often fully booked and can be a long wait for a table. The service was efficient. The menu was standard Japanese with Sushi, sashimi, a large selection of rolls and appetizers. There is a good selection of sake, beers and wine as well. We ordered a large sushi/ sashimi platter for 2 and a few appetizers. Soup or salad came with the meal. The fish was fresh and of high quality, including salmon, tuna, snapper, eel, and the appetizers were very good. The price was very reasonable for Miami and good value. I have tried several different Japanese restaurants in Miami, and in my opinion Matsuri is the best I’ve found.

I’ve been to Matsuri several times and it never disappoints. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, the food is always fresh and delicious. The restaurant is low key with authentic Japanese food. I recommend the Bento boxes at lunch time; very affordable and great variety. Please note that Matsuri does not open for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s a good idea to make reservations for dinner.

We had a great meal the sushi was amazing, great selection of rolls and the sake selection was excellent we really enjoyed the Dawasakura Oka Ginjo

Visiting the beaches in the day made us crave sushi at night. We saw the reviews for Matsuri and decided to give it a try. The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. I was a little disappointed to see most rolls have imitation crab as a component of a sushi roll, but that must be what's popular in that market. All of the sashimi that we ate was very fresh (fish will melt in your mouth), thus very delicious! I would steer clear of any sushi/Peruvian fusion restaurants and stick to this place if you wish to have great sushi.

Wow today I had Sushi Moriawase. The Hamachi Conch Ikura best without being in Japan. If I can complain it’s too noisy. Maybe some noise reducing wall panels. I had to wait 1 hour but will do it again

I think that this is the best normally sushi in Miami. The place is not fancy and is most times very busy. The service is sometimes efficient, sometimes not, sometimes friendly, sometimes not. It is the best quality of fish and because it is so busy it is always fresh.

We have been searching for a typical authentic sushi restaurant for the past month and we finally found it! They still have a sushi bar, tho you can't order direct from the chefs behind it, waiters take care of that. My vegetable tempura was light and veggies varied and fresh. My sushi was so fresh the fish melted in my mouth. Great service too. My only complaint is the noise level is very high due to the way it's built, sort of echos, and with yelling children, it can be stressful. I'm sure if we'd gone later in the evening this might not have been the problem.... We will return again !

This is an awesome restaurant. It's a little bit difficult to find and sort of out-of-the-way but well worth the visit. The entrance is somewhat obscure and difficult to see and there is very limited roadside signage. The tables are quite small and the restaurant is noisy but fun. That is the only negative. Everything else regarding this establishment is truly positive and way over-the-top. It is what I think is truly authentic Japanese restaurant. Why do I think it is authentic? Well, there are always many Japanese people frequenting this establishment. The interesting thing is that most of the people that work there are not Asian. Nevertheless, I give this restaurant top scores on every level. The quality of the food, the variation in flavors, the value and portions for the price can't be beat. I have never been to Japan or anywhere in the Orient however I have been to many many Asian restaurants between Miami, New York and California. This is definitely the best that I have tried. With all the options in Miami, this is truly one of my favorite restaurants. I probably eat there two or three times a month. I have taken friends and coworkers and they have also said the same positive thing that I have. They are all now regulars at this establishment.

We go to Matsuri regularly. Everything is always fresh, the portions are perfect and the prices are extremely reasonable. Service is always fast. Reservations are recommended as this place gets packed. It's a smaller restaurant so you will most likely be seated very close to other tables, so it is not the most intimate. Overall, great restaurant!

Authentic Japanese in Miami. No other words needed. Fresh , fresh , pleasant and mainly service minded

We drove 25km from our hotel to eat there and if it were 60km I would say it still worth. They have a huge variety of sushis/sashimi as well as hot japanese food. The fish was fresh like it swam into the restaurant itself. One of the best I ever been. Come and try! You won't regret.

Pretty disappointed with this run of the mill sushi joint. The presentation was as bland as the food. The fish tasted as though it had been frozen.... which blended well with our server. She was as uninspired as they come. I suggest trying one of the many other options available in the area.

We heard from our Japanese friends that this is the most popular Japanese restaurant in Miami. So we tried lunch on our way back to NY. We waited a bit since it was lunch time. We ordered from lunch special menu. Ramen and one sushi roll set Nami chirashi sushi bowl Menchi Katsu Teishoku lunch Each dish was OK,but not great. Sushi rice of my chirashi should be cooled down and should not to such sticky. Prices are inexpensive for Japanese. If we live in Miami, this restaurant might be a good option For dining out.

It is the best sushi i tried. Very fresh and tasteful. Cousy small place. Needs to improve on service they all seem not orginzed.

Really crowded restaurant on a Saturday night... Had to wait for 30 minutes to have a seat but it was worth it. Fish is really fresh, food is good. Would come back!

I have new coming here for I would estimate close to 2 years and there is a reason for it. Hands down they have the freshest and best sushi in Miami. We have tried different restaurants in the past, but always come back here.

As a religious Contributor to Trip Advisor, I know how objective my reviews are so, I also rely on Trip Advisor when I need to pick good restaurants both here in the USA or abroad. So, last week, we were looking for a good Japanese restaurant. After some extensive research, I picked Matsuri. Based on the reviews, I knew already that I should not expect fancy tablecloths with a Maitre D. and waiters with bowtie. However, I knew the food was going to be delicious, prices were to be reasonable. So, we headed there for our traditional date night, obviously with a reservation. Here in Miami, this is not the first time that we landed on the little jewel hidden in a mall strip. Obviously, no valet parking (you save money), nothing fancy that would contribute to higher prices. Overall, Matsuri exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, service was very effective (Jessy) and prices were more than reasonable. So, if you live in the South West, I don’t see why you need to go to South Beach (tourist traps) when you have thousands of great restaurants within 10 miles. The BBQ Tuna was juicy and, the Japanese Bouillabaisse was delicious. Unfortunately, the table was a bit sticky. They could do better on how they clean the table. Since this is not the 1st time such comment is raised, I hope the Management will pay attention and address this issue in a timely manner.

Exceptional sushi and extraordinary menu. A reflection of Japanese cuisine. We were two and I don't remember how many items from the menu we tried and we paid a reasonable amount (90 without tip). If we were in NY that would be around 25 to 30 hundred.

Matsuri was recommended to me by Japanese friends several years ago. I’ve never been disappointed. The restaurant décor is unassuming but the quality and presentation of the food is dazzling. A hidden gem.

Tempura vegatables were exquisite. Miso soup's broth was delicious and the sushi rolls were wonderful. I had the birds nest which was light and refreshing. The price point for everything was very affordable. I like the atmosphere, service and the fact that it was not a place to be seen but a place to enjoy top notch Japanese cuisine.

This place has the typical crappy Miami level of customer service to which I've become accustomed. The table was sticky, the server slammed everything down on the table reaching in front of my face while I was eating. I have no idea why this place is rated so highly.

They manage to move a lot of people in and out but remain the freshest and with a huge menu. Best sushi in Miami. Lots of cooked items. Creative rolls. Despite being in a strip mall it remains the best around.

Horrible service, we were with clients, and the server spilled all over us. They also charged us for napkins, then expected a tip??? >bad experience, would not recommend.

Little place in South Miami located in Bird Rd. and 57 ave. I passed many times and never noticed it. My husband went today for lunch and was so impressed that took me to dinner after work. What a jewel! food is fresh, perfect portion, great service, excellent prices. Place is packed, you know the place is good when is busy during the week and the person behind the counter is a Japanese Master. Highly recommended.

Outstanding food. I have never had such a choice of sushi and sashimi of such high quality. Prices are OK and service is OK. Avoid the California rolls which are made with “krabsticks” and not real fish.

I can't believe I just now discovered this wonderful Japanese restaurant after years of dining in Miami! This will now be a weekly spot for me, even if it's not the most convenient location. It is well worth the extra miles. I made a reservation and I highly recommend this since the restaurant is small and very busy. They are very fast and tables do turn quickly but I will always reserve. We tried many things and everything was superior. Definitely the best Japanese Uni and oh-Toro in Miami. The Crunch Hip Hop was extremely good take on the classic spicy tuna roll and the waitress said it was a favorite. The Chu-toro Say Zuke will also be a regular order for me! Even those who don't like tuna loved this dish, that's how good it is. We tried the deep-fried squid legs and they were incredible. Also, I highly recommend the Age Tofu. This is by far the best I have had outside of Japan or a specialty Japanese restaurant specializing in tofu in NYC. Melts in your mouth... Sometimes it is in the simplest dishes that you truly see the quality of a chef. I look forward to trying many more dishes at this truly authentic and very affordable restaurant.

A Japanese restaurant located in West Miami. Family oriented and noisy. If you live in the area it is a definite place to dine....but not worth a drive of any distance. Very extensive menu. Enjoyed my food but will not run to go back since it is 30 minute drive from my house.

Their shushi remaind me Japanese sushi I can eat tasty sushi in Miami without going back Japan :-)and it was not expensive although high quality sushi. Very recommend!

great food, small, beautiful decorated place, we got there late on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed, which was a good sing that this place is good. the only downside is that it was a bit loud, and the seating arrangement is too crowded.

The best sushi restaurant in miami. Hands down. Make a reservation. Always packed. Fish quality amazing. Order the O-toro sashimi! Amazing!

This is our first visit to Matsuri and the reviewers are right, this is the best Sushi restaurant we have visited in Miami. All we ordered was of very good quality and taste!

Excellent fresh sushi / sashimi plate serving 3 to 4. Delightful and priced right. Discrete appearance from outside, welcoming and appeasing interior. Good and attentive service. Will return when back in Miami.

We've been here twice, never disappointed once! A little pricey, long wait, but the food is downright delicious and you can tell the chefs are skilled. The menu is extensive so take your time and try things you've never eaten. The fish is very fresh, the food has flavor and our waitress was good. Only complaint is that the gentleman at the front attending the waitlist was rude, frustrated or unhappy to be there. Couldn't tell which. Otherwise, definitely make it out to Matsuri when you can afford a good sushi dinner!

I went 2 times to Matsuri while I was traveling in Miami, it was such an amazing experience! Fish is very fresh and it tastes so good, I think it was one of the best sashimis I've ever had, besides the thicker fish cut. Yes, it could be thiner, but the fish was so fresh that didn't bother me at all. They have several options of sashimi, rolls and even other hot dishes. Price is very good for the quality, it was like a Zuma standard for less than half price. But I wouldn't order the Lunch box, when I saw it, salmon sashimi looked different from the one I ordered. Maybe because of the price, they won't serve you the freshiest fish. Matsuri is definitely a gem in Miami and a must go.

My boyfriends favorite sushi restaurant!! Best salad ever so much that we had it twice. mesmerizing yukke and honestly I am not a big fan of chicken liver, but this one was really good. Moriwase which was so fresh it felt as if they just cut the fish for you. Freshness is a big key in this restaurant. Which I loved. Now I get why is my boyfriends favorite. Merry christmas!! God is Love Love is God MaraTopic

It is a hidden Japanese gem in a strip mall on Bird Road. However once inside, the place is cool, big and has a great vibe. The crowd is great, lots of Japanese customers. Food is awesome, stays on the traditional side. No fancy rolls, no cream cheese, no squirting of mayo and funky sauces.

Great lunch, chicken teriaki, brown rice, with ginger salad, and miso soup, plus green tea, delicious!

The food is really good, unfortunately our experience ordering take out was very disappointing. Bad customer service ( from the person answering the phone and taking the order to their system to deliver the orders at their front door) not ordering take out again until they have a more efficient system and better customer service.

While exploring Miami, we discovered this place and couldn’t resist giving it a try. Having read a lot about Japanese cuisine and watching a lot their dishes on TLC, we decided to get our first taste of Japanese cuisine. We were not disappointed. We really took to the Japanese food. The ambiance of the place was fine, not too boasting of luxury neither too drab. The wait for the food was pretty long but we were very impressed by the end results. What we noticed, when the food arrived, was the presentation which was impeccable. The taste surpassed the presentation with the melt-in-the-mouth tasty Sushi and the Sake. Though the prices are a bit high and the portions small but this place is a great stop for Japanese food.

Based upon the recommendation of a Japanese friend, tried it out. We are not experts on sushi or sashimi but like to experiment. We found the food to be O.K. but not living up to the buzz. Presentation exceeded quality.

Matsuri is the best sushi/Japanese restaurant with the best prices in the South Miami, Coral Gables area of Miami. I have never been disappointed with any of the dishes from their extensive menu. The sashimi is served in the perfect portion size, the sushi is always fresh, and they have some very impressive dishes (spicy tofu). I highly recommend Matsuri.

We were invited by knowledgeable friends to dine at Matsuri. Always a good sign when the place is packed on a Friday night. The service is efficient. We had the Masa plate with sashimi and sushi. Very fresh and well presented. The menu provides a wide array of choices. Highly recommended.

Get anything - It is all good. Sushi and hot dishes all are worth the visit. This establishment has been around for years and it's clear why.

Don't be fooled by the nondescript outside appearance of this restaurant. Inside is the very best Japanese cuisine I've experienced outside of Japan. Everything is fresh and authentic. Truly worth the sometimes long waiting times to dine (must get reservations at peak times!)

This is my fav Japanese restaurant in Miami. The quality of the food is amazing. The fish is always fresh. The service is very quick. The only thing is that the place is quite small and you may have to wait, but the wait is very well worth it.

Not what it used to be. Used to be a very special place for Japanese food. The food was only average on this visit. We ordered gyoza and got shumai. Everything had a mass production taste and presentation to it. The service was subpar. Our server had no personality and never once did we feel like “guests.” We felt like “customers.” We were rushed from the minute we sat down until the time the bill was tossed on the table. Unfinished food was taken from the table more than once. Not what it used to be.

Its a shame that this amazing Japanese restaurant has a person at the front that depends on his mood and if he has any friends waiting is the time that you will have to wait to be seated. He seats people at his own convenience and where he feels they should be seated. "there are seats in the counter you take them or you have to wait" even that clearly they were open tables of 2 people. Even that he knows that I am a regular costumer he replied "there are other people here that are better costumers than you are". I have been a regular costumer for years, since the restaurant was opened in 1988. Has always been a very popular restaurant, and always when the above mentioned person is in the front they are issues getting a table. If you call to make a reservation be ready to wait on the phone because is very difficult for people to answer. Think that in 2018 they should have a way to make a reservation over the internet, and be able to place an order.

Huge menu. Great service, Sashimi the best. Service excellent. Soup with pork and vegetables recommended. Fish very fresh.

Like another recent reviewer I couldn't resist the intriguingly named 'Invitation From the White House' and was not disappointed. It was a subtle combination of flavors and ingredients that was excellent. Pork gyozas were subtly flavored and the serving of three just enough to leave room for the rolls. My dining partner prefers cooked and her shrimp tempura were perfect. Chicken Teriyaki was nicely flavored and presented. As others have noted, seating is tight and the atmosphere is hustle bustle and loud. Not the spot for a quiet romantic meal. Kid friendly with booster seats everyone appeared to be having a good time. Sneaking discreet glances at neighboring diners dishes and plates passing by on their way to other tables everything looked great. Given the very reasonable prices an excellent choice if you are in the area.

I would give minus if there is an option to do so. The young waitress that served on the left side (front) on Sunday when we walked in to the restaurant was so rude. She made her face when we asked for missing items on the plate. Later she did not pay attention to our table and she did not give fill the water. If you ignore the manner, it does not matter how good the food is. I believe in Karma, it exists and it will pay you back some day!

When we want to eat good quality sushi we visit Matsuri! Probably Miami’s best sushi place. The lunchbox is a great value and for special occasions and dinners we love their sushi mixed specials. Goto Ren i think it’s the name. The atmosphere is always excellent and very busy.
We enjoyed every bite.
Matsuri is a restaurant with excellent presentation of the dishes, all very fresh, including a selected variety of fish. The service was timely and the atmosphere is very pleasant to share with family. The prices in general are a little high but they make up for the quality of the food.
