Best TexMex in Dallas

By Bee-stone |

I've been eating here off and on since 2003. The have excellent food at fair prices. Their brunch is very good. It is extremely convenient for AA Center activities. El Fenix, just a couple blocks away is a Dallas institution, but Matitos is better. You have to try the Bob Armstrong sauce (queso, sausage, sour cream, and guac)

Brisket Tacos!

By CandyceW |

I have never before seen Brisket Tacos on a menu. But when in Rome (or Dallas!... take the opportunity to get as much awesome Tex-Mex as you can. They know what they're doing at this restaurant. The Brisket Tacos, were tasty, not sure how much different they are than a shredded beef taco, but I'd order them again. The guacamole, however, the standard by which I judge all Mexican restaurants, was outstanding. Very vibrant, fun atmosphere with very good service.

Awesome Brunch

By Mcnut42 |

Went for Sunday brunch. Sooooo good and cheap. Brunch included two drinks. Had a great mix of Tex-Mex with an omelet station. Didn't eat for two days after.

Mexcellent!

By TNgirl55 |

Fantastic brisket tacos! Very easy to get a table at 8pm on a Saturday. Service was fast and friendly.

Try Somewhere Else!

By ftrdds |

The items on the menu are indeed Tex-Mex, however, the food was lacking greatly in quality. This place was busy and had a good atmosphere for my party of six from South Texas. We have "great" Mexican food where we come from and this is not it. Try somewhere else.

Lunch with Marsha and Gloria

By Robert S |

I hadn't been here in years. But the experience was still excellent. The margaritas, the chili con quesa, the tacos...oh yes. I highly recommend.

All you can eat brunch at the right price

By Pauak |

Ideal place for brunch with friends, if on a budget. The place is conveniently located near Uptown, and has a parking garage next to it. The place is pretty noisy and crowded so not the best for a quiet relaxing experience. And again, it usually packed in the weekends. But if with a group it is ideal to have fun, talk and laugh without others bothering. The food is actually excellent, with a lot to choose from at the buffet. All Tex-Mex inspired of course, but if not in to that you still don't go hungry with pancakes and omelettes freshly made. The unlimited Mimosa is included in the brunch price. A bargain for the $18 the menu costs. I love it! Finally the service is pretty decent, but usually they take too much time to remove dirty plates. But the refilling Mimosas goes quick and often (I guess the tip goes up as we go down!).

Great Place For Sunday Brunch!

By adriancZ4779JA |

Tasty Mexican cuisine and even tastier Margaritas. Great for Sunday brunch, but make a reservation or go early, the line to get in is around the block.

Even slightly BELOW average

By snackwell |

Drinks plopped down like beer cans and food served like cattle slop...I don't know. What brings such crowds to such mediocrity? Dirty, worn, painfully average.

Great mexican food at a decent price

By pneu65 |

This place was an accident while trying to locate a place to park and eat. I cannot say enough about the service or the foods. I am pretty much speechless on the place. The foods are prepared to our liking and we drive 60 miles just to eat here. That should be enough said to know it is worth the time to taste their foods.

Great for brunch and happy hour!

By Demonet |

Fantastic place for brunch! It's a buffet and packed with great options! For happy hour, I like to order a Bob and margarita for a fun snack. Staff is friendly and fast. The cheese enchiladas are fantastic!

great - Fun Service - good food!

By GDeiter |

We had the best waiter ever - made the dining expereince so much fun. the food was very good, the service very attentive. But the waiter made our evening!

Not a Good Place to Eat

By Deborealtor |

Just a big, big step down from Taco Bell. The nicest thing I can say is that the place seems clean. Bland, glutinous, thick sticky glue served on a plate. The only reason I didn't score this place lower is that it does appear to be clean.

Such Lovely Food and Service!

By Nanci Black |

You feel at home the minute you walk in the door. All the staff are so friendly, and the food is just spectacular. Everything I had was delicious, and their quest was to die for—their own recipe, and it was fabulous. Do visit them—you’ll love it.

Dinner

By gwl |

We needed a Mexican food fix and this place was recommended to us. First, the staff was friendly and helpful. That being said, the food was average. Sauces were a little heavy. I had the fish tacos and the crust on the skin was a little heavy so we lost the tenderness of the fish. The real kicker was the guacamole. Came out very cold so we lost the taste of the avocado. They tried to push it off on health department requirements. Nice try. Average at best!

Great atmosphere---Ok food.

By saracarrara |

The food here was OK---I think maybe I ordered the wrong thing being that I wanted to experience true tex-mex after hearing the raves about how much better it is than our east coast mexican restaurants. I ordered the fish tacos, which tasted no different than what I could have at home. The staff was super speedy and very accomodating! The atmosphere is great here! They valet your car here. Which was weird, b/c the parking lot is spitting distance to the front door. Ploy to get tips? Don't know....

Tex-Mex at it's best...

By Glenn Smith |

Mattito's is a fun and enjoyable Tex-Mex restaurant in a convenient location. Service was excellent and the food was great. I had Briquette Taco's and Tamales and recommend them. The Top Shelf Margareta was very good and strong although it is a bit on the small size. BUT, If you have 2 of them you will need a designated driver. The chips and salsa were not to my liking but maybe that is just me. Cheese dip is the yellow version and they do not have white cheese dip but it was good dip. It's a busy place but we got seated fast and service was quick too..

Authentic TexMex.....great!

By Cindy K |

We liked the guacamole,,,almost like a salad. The mole enchiladas were to die for. The shredded beef tacos were amazing. Would definately go back.

Great TexMex food in Irving, Tex

By HallStars4 |

I LOVE this place!!!! Irving (at 635) 1001 MacArthur Park. Awesome food (avocado enchiladas, tacos al carbon, brisket tacos), salsa, queso, and margarita's. Nice kids menu, prompt/friendly service with extremely helpful staff. Our 'kids' are regulars at this place and it was a wonderful treat for us to join them. Our granddaughter eats heartily and is rewarded with an ice cream treat of her choice. There are multiple tv's, and an outdoor patio with a bar / happy hour specials. It's a great place to kick back with family/friends!

Great food. poor patio service.

By Crash0679 |

Wife and I were in Dallas and wanted some good tex mex. overall food was great but the service is poor when you sit on the patio. the sever brought me the check before I was done and didn't offer refills on our drinks.

We go about once a month for your standard Tex-Mex. If your kids order off the kid menu don't forget your ice cream on the way out!

TexMex At It's Worst

By John J |

If you want to know how TexMex got a bad name, eat at Mattito's. Chewy rice, coagulated refried beans and mystery meat topped with queasy cheese that oozes an undefinable oil like substance. This is the stuff that make Taco Bell look Michelin rated. I took 11 people for a quick business lunch and was simply stunned by what this place served up. Most of the plates looked like they had been cooked the night before, refrigerated under cellophane wrap and reheated in a microwave. Seriously. I know that Mattito's caters to the fast lunch and three Margarita crowd, but TexMex does not have to be this bad. If you have to eat at this place, my advise is to order the Top Shelf Margarita Combo ask them to hold the rice, beans, cheese and meat, then get smashed on the cheap tequila while eating their chips. My, my, my.

Very good Tex-Mex

By cadamsesq |

Excellent salsa, and wonderfully tasty tacos. Our server was Caty, and she was superb. Thank you for being such a delight .. such a great personality. She added so much to our time there. I definitely would come back my next time in Dallas.

Worst experience ever!!!!

By Haysmom04 |

Worst experience ever!!!! The place was empty, but we still waited 20 minutes for a drink, but only after we flagged someone down and asked for tea. All waiters were just standing around doing nothing. We finally ordered fajitas, and the waitress kept promising they would be right out. 45 minutes to an hour later and NO food. We couldn’t take it anymore and left. Waitress sucks, Manager sucks, we wouldn’t know how the food tasted, but we will never be back! Do not waste your time!

Sunday brunch then a mimosa nap. Things don't get better! They have a chocolate fountain!

Great Tex Mex.

By AshleyNAplin |

Good food and atmosphere. Been several times never disappointed. Sunday brunch is really good too

Such great food!

By muelissa |

Ate there and loved it! The taquitos, the fajitas, the margaritas....all wonderful. The ambiance was fantastic and I would definitely return again. Have a frozen margarita!

Great Cheese Enchiladas!

By tmtrvl |

We have not eaten here since they moved from the Oak Lawn location. We eat at Matt’s in Lakewood and Austin, but forgot how good Mattito’s is. The food is great and the cheese enchiladas are some of the best, which includes, Matt’s, Jacala (San Antonio), Manny’s, and Pappasito’s – the con carne sauce is wonderful. The diner plates are great (I usually keep it simple and order the Paco). They will even make you a bowl of Bob Armstrong Dip! You cannot go wrong here for good food and service.

LOVE THIS PLACE,

By Gbusiek |

If you love TexMex you will love Mattito's! The enchilada are great and the fajitas even better. I'm getting hungry just thinking about T this place!

Beautiful this time of year

By SarahTea |

We ate dinner at Mattito's tonight, and the food was delicious! I ordered the Tilapia with black bean sauce, rice, and vegetables. This is the only mexican restaurant I can think of that really gives vegetables with their food: broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, red and green bell peppers... delicious! Also, the environment is wonderful this time of year! We ate outside on the patio, which is topped with a thick layer of twisting vines and green leaves. There is a three layer fountain near the tables. It was noisy inside, but outside we mostly just heard the peaceful fountain and the sounds of uptown (including occasional airplanes flying low on their way to the airport). If you have spent time in Uptown, then you are used to that sound. The view from the restaurant windows is the beautiful patio. The view from the patio is the various wood-vine plants and fountain, the parking lot, and some nice looking buildings with trees in front of them in the distance. So it's not spectacular, but it is a lot nicer than I would picture if someone just said "parking lot". There is road construction going on in the main street outside the restaurant (Cedar Springs), so be sure you know how to get there. The construction workers are gone in the evening, so you just have to drive around the traffic cones; there is no construction noise after probably 6:00. (We went from 7-8pm, but city laws require an earlier cut off for construction noise since the street is near apartments). The parking lot is Valet, so it is easy to find a place to park. We live in the area, so we walked instead.

Great Mexican Restaurant!

By Keith M |

I eat here regularly. Mattito's has some of the freshest and most delicious Mexican food in the Oak Lawn/ Uptown area. The food is abundant, with excellent variety and is always consistently well-cooked and beautifully presented. I recommend the Chili relleno which is an inspiration. Also great mole dishes and some of the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten (try it with the salsa verde and rice and beans). Drinks are large and strong if a bit pricey. The staff is friendly and hard-working, although sometimes a bit short in numbers for such a busy restaurant. Nevertheless, I always have had great experiences here. In an area that has many Mexican restaurants, Mattito's stands out as one of the best.

Just Okay Buffet

By glb310 |

Went here for brunch on Easter Sunday with four friends. First time for me and won’t be the last. Bathrooms were clean, wait was short (2 minutes without reservation), and staff was very professional with quick table service. It’s true about the bottomless Mimosas but they were pre-mixed in a pitcher so don’t expect them to combine champagne and orange juice at your table. About the food? I did not care for the buffet offerings and thought it was just “so-so” with a 6 on a scale of 1 – 10. At 10:00 in the morning I expect the food to be plentiful and fresh. What I got was “dried” meaning sitting there for a long time with either empty bins or just not visually appealing. As for the clientele, it’s mostly adult with a mix of straight, gay, and under 60. However, I did witness what seemed a lot of children but I attribute that to it being Easter. Pros: Good service, fair price, quick seating, clean facilities, plentiful parking on side streets Cons: Variety of buffet, stale food.

Brunch: Holy Guacamole!

By arappa |

Found out about this place from my brother, who used to live in Dallas, and tried the brunch buffet during our weekend visit to Dallas. Very glad that we went! It was $16.99 per adult and $6.99 for our 3-year-old son. That includes all beverages, including unlimited mimosas for the adults, breakfast items, lunch items, omelet station, quesadilla station, lots of fruit, desserts, AND a chocolate fountain. And probably more that I'm forgetting now. It was seriously a ton of food, and the price seemed reasonable for what you got. The service was quite good, with multiple refills on coffee and mimosas. We got there right around 10 when they opened, but there was a wait by the time we left.

Two Words: Brisket Quesadilla

By EventPlanner_7186700 |

I am based on the East Coast and we have some pretty good Mexican restaurants but I recently visited Dallas and looked forward to something more authentic. The brisket quesadilla is amazing as is the queso cheese dip. Tried several of the appetizers and they are all pretty good but those two standout. A serving of salsa and chips comes to the table - the salsa is pretty spicy but the chips were warm, thick and crispy. A few of us got the fajitas and I expected them to come sizzling from the kitchen but they don't. Perhaps they just don't do it like that in Texas! Good food, good margaritas. Restaurant was very busy which is a sign that it's well received in this area.

Ordinary chow

By Twogreynomads |

Outside dining with a fireplace. Inside is spacious with a bar. The house queso with ground beef is a special request and it is delicious. Opt for a top shelf margarita as the house margarita is full of ice, is watery and lacks flavor. Platters include beans and rice. The salsa has the right amount of kick. Food could have been hotter. Brisket is a fave. The fish tacos lacked wow.

Great Food, Great Setting

By Paul P |

Mattito's is my go-to place for great Tex-Mex in a festive setting. The restauant is located in a converted 1920's cottage with mutilple levels and several smaller dinning rooms plus a patio. Don't expect great views from the patio, though, it overlooks the parking lot. There is a large room at the back that can be arranged for big groups. Of course you get the usual gratis chips and salsa (really like the salsa), but you have to go for the Bob Armstrong dip. It is based on the typical queso dip but adds a scoop of taco meat, a scoop of sour cream, and a scoop of guacamole. It is truly awesome, the only problem being it hardly leaves room for the rest of the great stuff on the menu. My favorite entree is the chile relleno with beef and green sauce. This is the best relleno I have ever had. It is not greasy at all, and the green sauce gives it a great tartness. The dish is sprinkled with chopped pecans which unsual in Tex-Mex, but it gives a nice crunch and contrast to the tartness of the sauce. My son enjoys the fajitas, but to me it is hard to differentiate chicken fajitas. Service is quick and efficient. Chips and salsa arrive immediately and the meal is paced well and quickly. While valet parking is a bit of overkill for a Tex-Mex joint, it seems to work here as the parking lot is tight with some goofy access. Left to our own devices we would wind up with gridlock trying to get in and out.

Best Tex-Mex I had in Texas!

By Janeen R |

We met a friend here for brunch, who lives in Dallas and recommended the brunch buffet. I normally never do buffets, but fell in love quickly with this one! All the food you can imagine for lunch and an omelet station too. Egg sopas, flautas, tamales, fajitas, chile rellenos and much more- and it was all fantastic and tasty. I would go back in a heartbeat. Great margaritas, too!

More than just Tex- Mex...wow!

By MilagrosMartinez |

I was taken to Mattito's while on a recent business trip, and advised to try their stuffed Jalapeños. OMG!!! Is the best way to describe it. Their recipe should be insured and protected; they are that succulent and tasty. Shredded chicken, raisins, cheese and pine nuts... and whatever secret ingredients, make this an amazing dish to try. I love to cook and can appreciate a good dish when I bump into one. Their prices are more than reasonable and the ambience is great. The restaurant has a colorful eclectic vibe, and is located in a very nice area to walk off your meal afterwards. It is definitely a place to visit for a late lunch, after work drinks or dinner. Not your run of the mil Tex- Mex cuisine at all, give it a try … you will not be disappointed.

Great Sunday Brunch

By David L |

I gpt tp the restaurant pretty early because I was heading back to Houston. It was my first visit to Mattito's, and the result certainly encourages another visit. There were so man y choices, especially for desserts, that it was quite difficult to restrain myself.

Good Sunday brunch!

By Kevin F |

We were visiting & local friends told us this was great Tex Mex place. Stopped her on Sunday prior to heading to Love Field. Had the Sunday brunch $19; included Margaritas & Mimosas.

Great Brunch

By Kara B |

Awesome selections with chicken and waffles bar, omelet station and so much more. The food is great and you can't beat the price.

surprised

By rhch |

From prior reviews of this place I thought I'd really love it. I didn't. I thought the food was just okay and relatively expensive for what it was. I was with a group and we all did a buffet. I saw nothing special, unique or terribly interesting about the buffet.

BOB DIP!!!!!!!!!!

By AaronP75087 |

I love this place for their Bob dip. We all know, or at least any self respecting Texan should know, the story of how Bob dip came to be about and this place does it right.

Good Tex Mex Brunch

By Kelli P |

A lot of options on the Brunch Buffet. The drinks that come with Brunch were not that great. Busy atmosphere. Semi friendly staff.

More suited for a Rave Party

By TravelWell040 |

We entered this restaurant and were greeted by a hostess that had an attitude. The place was very noisy to the point that I had to shout at my guests so I could be heard. First we were shown a table at the very back of the restaurant though there were obviously better tables available. When we asked for a more suitable table we were shown one directly in the sunlight and obviously not ideal. A third try was just as bad. We decided to leave and found a better, more comfortable Tex-Mex restaurant one block away on Oak Lawn.

Happy Hour - Nice Outside Area

By Elizabeth S |

The outdoor patio with roaring fireplace and outdoor seating looked inviting, but still a bit chiily so we chose a booth in the bar. It was nice. Not very crowded at all for a Monday evening at 6pm. Where was everybody? The drinks were reasonable and good. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. Nothing really excited us too much. But it was okay. Staff was friendly but a bit over attentive (maybe bored?). All in all it was "okay".

Best Fajitas

By Rhonda G |

The food here was excellent! The trio dip is a must have! The service was perfect! We will definitely be back when visiting Dallas.

another dallas staple

but so many of its kind i do have of few matts favorites though

Best steak fajitas ever!!!

By karen23039 |

We only visit Dallas once a year, but Mattito's gives us another reason to go back! I had the steak fajitas and was totally amazed when the dish arrived. It was a good quality steak that had been well-seasoned, grilled, then cut into generous strips and presented on a bed of sautéed onions & peppers. It came with the usual garnishes, warm tortillas and really outstanding hot sauce. My husband had the cheese enchiladas and a tamale and liked them both. The corn chips and salsa were great too! And, The service was excellent. I can't wait to go back!!!

Really good and filling!

By PlanetProwler4ever |

The service was great and food good too! I ordered the brisket quesadilla and I have to say it rocked my world - seriously, everyone at the table tried it and agreed it was outstanding. So, if you get here, try it. The other dishes my friends had were good too, but the brisket quesadilla - SUPERBLY divine!

Great Fresh Mexican !

By Star R |

Have been visiting every since first visit, the food is excellent, fresh and the staff is great. Can get very busy especially sunday brunch, but worth the wait. Kind of a hole in the wall, but that is what makes it nice!!!

Standard Mexican fare

By Mithena |

There was nothing extraordinary or unusual about the menu. It is the same menu you find at 90% of Mexican restaurants. Tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, executed well, but nothing to make it stand out for me.

Just Tex-Mex!

By Louis D |

They have all the standards, done well. When you need your Tex-Mex fix; this is the place to go! Get Joe's quest!!

Worth another try

By Bruce S |

Went there for business. Service was good. Ordered the healthy fajitas. They were not like anything I have had in the past. The broccoli and califlower were good but the meat was flavorless. I wouldn't recommend this. The corn tortillas did not taste fresh. If you go in the evening make sure you do not sit in an area the sun will set as it will blind you during your meal. I might try it again but order something else. It did not seem too loud from other people which was nice.

Wonderful Sunday brunch...

By Lesleigh S |

Wonderful Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas

Lukewarm

By Roger H |

The physical attributes of the new Mattito’s at the corner of Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn are very nice—fireplace, colorful lights, comfortable seating and lots of windows, just below street level, with excellent people-watching opportunities. Three of us wanted to try the Sunday brunch; we arrived around 10:30 a.m. The service was awesome—you didn’t have one waiter; you had the whole wait staff coming by often to ask if you needed anything. However, we had no idea that a brunch buffet would be so expensive—$17.99. Neither my friends nor I eat very much at one meal, so the price was pretty extravagant for a casual brunch. The “value” of the price became clearer, though, when we learned that drinks were included, specifically, the fact that one of the drink choices was unlimited mimosas. It didn’t help us particularly, because none of us drink; we had coffee and tea. So, for those people who eat heartily and enjoy alcoholic beverages, the price/food/drink is probably a good deal. The food offering was plethoric, from fresh fruit to ham, bacon and eggs to quesadillas and enchiladas—definitely an abundance of choices. The taste was nothing to brag about—not bad, but not worth revisiting. Although the food was placed on tables in chafing dishes, it was not fresh nor hot, lukewarm at best. When we were informed of the price, we asked for a menu, but were told that food from the menu wasn’t available. I would give the experience the same rating as the temperature of the food—lukewarm.

Refreshing Tex Mex

By brownkevdeb |

Had a large group party here and found a refreshing menu (more Mex than Tex, which was nice) but a truly innovative bar and appetizers menu. Service was attentive, meals appeared in synchronization (a plus with a large party) and refreshment was frequent and pleasant. We didn't even suffer the usual "group add-on" of gratuity - the staff KNEW they had provided great service and trusted us to tip accordingly...which we did! Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service

By Sherri M |

I ordered the Avocado Burritos with cilantro rice and it was SOOOO good. I have never heard of them before and would love to have the recipe. My coworker had the Fajitas and was pleased. Our waiter, Salvador, was very patient, anticipated what we needed, and kind with suggestions when we asked what to do in Dallas for one day.

Lunch

By Doris C |

We were in Dallas and looking for a place for lunch. This restaurant was near our hotel and not one that we had eaten at before so we thought we would give it a try. The food was wonderful if not a little different. I had the lunch fajitas and the meat was different that what I had eaten before for fajitas but quite tasty and a large portion. It is nice to find an establishment that still has a lunch menu on the weekends. The prices were reasonable and the salsa was great.

Great Food, Eclectic Atmosphere

By LannyH |

Staying in Oak Lawn district this restaurant across the street from our hotel. Upon entry there's a large wall made of the bottoms of colorful glass bottles. The other side of the wall has the necks of the bottles that look to be protruding from wall. Cute shiplap ceilings & metal light fixtures give a fresh feel to the Tex Mex theme. Chips & especially salsa were fresh & tasty. Four of us each got different entrees varying from street tacos to burritos to puffy chicken tacos. Everyone enjoyed their choice. The service was friendly & helpful. I had a question about a sauce, & our server brought a sample to our table. A little pricier than what we're used to for Tex Mex at home, but pretty comparable for this neighborhood & a fun experience.

Real down home Texas meal

By Grantshadow |

Love this place. It's the community go-to hangout and has excellent Tex-Mex. Most importantly, the staff treat you like an old friend if you've only visited one before. I always make it a point to have at least one meal here when I'm in Oak Lawn.

Service? Cleanliness? What's that!

By Alexei |

Tried to have lunch at this place today. I'll start with the painted entry doors that you pull open with your hands. Wish I had taken pics. Someone needs to take a hot, wet soapy rag and wipe the darn doors down. A layer of grime and visible dirt that you have to touch- use your shirt if you must. This is not s good way to start a dining experience. Around 2:00 pm on a Saturday. told a wait of 20 minutes. They have some buffet going on but we weren't there for that. Just a margarita and something off the menu. No seats available at the bar so we just went and stood to order a drink but guess what? Not a bartender in site. Really? Restaurant is 'full' yet they have a large outside seating area in shade. It was a warm day but hey, if you have the tables out there why aren't they used? Regardless about seating if you have to wait to eat and cannot even order a drink from the bar while you wait then WHY did this restaurant even open its dirty doors today? Where was the bartender and why if they're so busy is there just 1 bartender? Ridiculous what the average consumer will put up with when they go out to eat. We left of course and won't go back. I've been wanting to try the place for years. We tried and and now it's time to wait till their lease runs out and hopefully a better managed restaurant will move in. Oh and the main entrance doors aren't the only thing that could benefit from a good hot steam cleaning - the bar, the floor ....and I forgot to check out the restrooms for you but I'll let someone else do that.

One of the the better mercian restaurants

By curioustravelor2010 |

The first thing we noticed was the friendly, welcoming staff. They truly made us feel like family. Unlike most Mexican restaurants they let us relax and enjoy our meal. The atmosphere was similar to Mazatlan Restaurants we have been at. My wife thought the salsa with the chips was too spicy, I liked it. My wife had burritos and I had shrimp fajitas. All the food was delicious. Clean, great food, great staff. I recommend Mattito's!

a good experience

By slh2012 |

A casual dinner with a friend led me there and it's pretty good. Service was great, food is above average, setting is casual and not as noisy.

GOOD BOB DIP

By bmwwade |

THE BOB DIP WAS EXCELLENT, Ate there yesterday. Food is mediocre at best. Margaritas were very weak. Wont go back.

brunch is a sure hit! you will regret not putting this place on your to do list! they are a little pricey but they are worth it on a hangover sunday!

Five star service & excellent food!

By SaraBeth55 |

Great atmosphere & service! The food was excellent & the portions were very large. Great value for the money. We were all very satisfied.

Duck! The birds are flying inside the restaurant

By Michael C |

The food was average and the service was mediocre. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, and utilized the valet parking. We noted several birds inside the restaurant, mostly pigeons but other avian creatures as well, throughout our visit. They were flying about, landing on tables and other surfaces, and grossly doing what birds so often do. The employees appeared unperturbed, leaving us with the impression that this was business as usual. If this passes the health department's requirements, I will not be dining out when in Dallas.

Ruined my mom's Birthday

By MartaviaThomas |

I visited this establishment on Jan. 3 2021. There was miscommunication from the very beginning with Yolanda the hostes/server. I decided to continue with booking because this was my mom's choice. It was 20 people with my party and apparently being staffed on a Sunday, working under pressure, working as team and doing things in order is not their forte. The server we were given seemed to be on some kind of narcotic and couldn't handle a large crowd. Management was called many times to correct orders, food was cold, orders not complete, now I do understand the Covid restrictions but this experience was just terrible. Im never going to location again. Mabey ill try another before I cancel Mattito's out for good!!

Never disappointed!

By Mary B |

If you want to experience authentic Tex-Mex this is a great restaurant in a very central location. Waitstaff was very attentive, didn't mind waiting for us to order until our friend arrived. Once he arrived, they were there to take the order and make sure our food arrived at the same time. Chicken fajitas were yummy and plenty for two to split. Corn tortillas are light and delicious.

Had Our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner/Celebration Here

By bjamboli |

Can't go wrong here. Great Tex-Mex and Margaritas! I would recommend it to anyone looking for traditional Tex-Mex complete with the appropriate surroundings.

Good Mexican Food

By Hayden L |

This is a great place for Mexican food. Their breakfast buffet is awesome on the weekends I highly recommend it.

By wwfrench |

Good news for Mattitos!! Looks like someone new is in charge and things are better than ever! The food is good and reliable and the service was better than ever! Excited this restaurant we have loved forever is making changes for the better!!

Fun Mexican Restaurant

By wwfrench |

My family has been going to Mattitos for 15 Or more and the last 5 years have been a disappointment. We just went there for Mother’s Day. There were about 5 tables of people and empty tables everywhere and they said there was a wait..... so.... I guess you weren’t expecting people on Mother’s Day? The Bob Armstrong dip was great, the cheese enchiladas were really good but the frozen margaritas was runny and not tasty.... what a disappointing night. Hope it was just an off night This mother was sad

The food and service are good...relaxed atmosphere. I would suggest they do a good cleaning of the floor and window areas. I would visit again when we return.

Sad experience

Louzy salsa, food not warm, ordered beef taco got beef tamale. Margarita weak. Not 5 star for sure. Visited because of 5 star rating. Did not press at all.

Good Mexican fare

By Louis H |

This is good not great Mexican food. Your typical menu items. The service is quite good, however. It's in a good neighborhood and easy to walk to. Recommended!

Tex Mex

By WejLew |

Mattito's looks like a yuppy hangout and perhaps it is ...but I found the food very good and the service quick and pleasant. I had the flautas, getting 2 chicken and 2 beef. The plate was presented well without the usual overlapping found on most Mexican food plates. The food items were spiced, but not too much. A nice balance. If I lived in this neighborhood, Mattito's would be a nice place to spend time.

Fresh Tex-Mex

fresh, flavorful food, friendly staff. try the Bob Armstrong Dip!

You should have known...

By DukerG |

I went to lunch yestrday with a friend and ordered the chicken chile relleno which is usually good. I asked for the combo that comes with a cheese enchilada and instead of ranchero sauce could I please have queso. When it comes out it has queso but it is also COVERED with a huge amount of sour cream which I do not like. I scrape off what I can but there is so much I quickly realize that most of what is on my plate is sour cream. I begin to eat it and notice that the pecans and rasins which make their chile relleno so good are no longer in the stuffing. Also there was really no pepper that was stuffed. There was a one inch by 4 inch strip of pepper hiding below the mess on top. I asked the waitress when she came back if the recipe had changed and she said "ummm...." and did not answer. So I promted her and said, well it used to have raisins and pecans it in. She said "Oh yeah, it just depends on whose cooking. Some people don't like that so if you want it you have to ask." Really? SInce when? Because that has never happened to me in the past. And suddenly I am supposed to magically know that what is printed on the menu is not what you get so if you actually WANT WHAT YOU ORDERED, you have to make sure to aske specifically for them to do their job? She asked me if I wanted another one. By then I was full so I said, no not really. She said ok and that was that. Personally I think she should have taken it off my bill since she brought me something I did not order.

GREAT Tex-Mex!

By Lacey T |

This was an awesome place to eat! We ended up going twice in one weekend, just because we were visiting from out of town and knew we wouldn't be back soon. The kids meals were a great deal! $4.99 included an entree', 2 sides, a drink and ice cream. I wouldn't highly recommend this restaurant, and will be returning with my family when we're in Dallas!!!

Great low key tex-mex

By tlagyn |

Went here with a very large group (20+) on night. Service was fantastic. they did a great job of getting all the entrees in a timely manner. Food was very good. Not the most elegant and not "fine dining", but a very good atmosphere and good hot food.

Lunch

By Lynda B |

Great restaurant and service. The wait staff was fast and friendly, coming back several times to check on us.

Sunday Brunch

By LTPridgen |

The Sunday Brunch offers a WIDE variety of foods for a moderate price. The only downside was the restaurant is 2 stories but the buffet is ONLY located on the lower floor meaning that the patrons forced to sit upstairs (as we were) have to traverse 2 1/2 flights of stairs with their plates.

Totally wonderful!

By Jason F |

My wife and I stopped here after getting off work rather than getting into traffic. What a great idea! It was happy hour and we both had the rumba rita. How refreshing! I ate the beef nacho appetizers (half order) and was quite satisfied. There was plenty on the plate to make the nachos complete. My wife ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and was very impressed with the size of the serving. They tasted fantastic. The service was very quick. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We will definitely be back in cooler weather to enjoy outdoor atmosphere. This place will definitely get more frequent business from us.

Fantastic Carne Asada

By Mike R |

Stopped in for dinner after a business meeting and wasn't expecting anything special. What a gem from Alberto our server to the cilantro based sauce drizzled over my enchilada, the food was fantastic. Carne Asada was my entree and was the best I have had in a long time. Visit for great meal next time you are in Dallas.

Delicious Tex-Mex

By Leah W |

We were there for a large party so had buffet style food and not off the menu...BUT if what we had is similar to the menu it was delicious! The buffet had chicken and beef fajitas, chimichanga's, queso, flautas, beans, rice and sides. I opted for the chicken fajitas and the meat and veggies were super fresh and seasoned perfectly. The beans were some of the best beans I have ever had. The salsa and queso were top notch. I don't eat fried food very often but I did want to taste the flautas and chimichangas. They were so good I went back for seconds. At the end they had sopapillas. Friendly staff and great food. I would eat there again in a heartbeat b/c if the food served at a buffet is THAT good...then the menu items are most likely better. Only downside- small bathrooms.

A hidden gem!

Just a great place to go! We enjoy the pleasant atmosphere, delicious menu items and warm/friendly service!

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST!

By Gina Doll A |

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION AT ALL COST!! THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS!!! As I am typing this review my blood is BOILING!!! This is the WORST restaurant on planet Earth. This location has the worst customer service ever!! Jorge the bartender was the rudest person. I placed a large order over the phone like I have several times before. When I arrived to pick up my food unfortunately Jorge was the only person at the bar to give my money to, not only did he snatched the money from my hand he also walked away from me on several occasions because I was checking my orders since It was a large one. He held an attitude with me the entire time for no reason at all! I asked if I could have more chips for my food and he replied, "that will be $8.00" $8.00 for a bag of CHIPS is absurd! He was soooo unpleasant, I couldn't take his rude behavior no longer that I ended up asking for the manager, I informed the manager about Jorge's behavior and that if he continued to have Jorge as an employee that he will run this business down to the ground! The manager's only reply was "I'm sorry about his behavior" I looked at him and informed him that I WILL BE CALLING CORPORATE! The manager was so useless and unhelpful and I can't wait to call corporate and inform them how I was treated.

Simple Tex-Mex. Fajitas...

Simple Tex-Mex. Fajitas, margaritas, beer. Good chips & salsa. Kids can be a little crazy and not bug your neighbors. Usually a good time.

Business Lunch Appropriate

By Mark G |

I was in Dallas for the day and needed a place to meet a client for a quick meal. The location was on the ground floor of an office building with convenient parking on premises. The restaurant validates the parking. Once you enter, the decor and atmosphere are "upscale Tex Mex" and you don't realize that you are in an office building anymore. The food was excellent and the pricing was on par with the neighborhood and atmosphere. The salsa has a little "kick" to it and highly recommended. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended excellent choices.

Amazed they stay open

By Kirakat15 |

With all the good Mexican and Tex-Mex food in town, I'm constantly amazed they are still open. Took SO there for lunch and it was worse than expected. A block of velveeta cheese and some chilis would have been more flavorful than the queso. Everything else was bland and tasted like it was dumped out of a can. Just terrible.

Very good tex mex !

By KDF2732 |

We sat on the patio and had a great margarita The fish tacos and carnitas tacos were outstanding The salsa is fantastic! Near the trolley line

Good food, casual experience

By muktownmomma |

The food was good and margaritas Very strong! large group and they accomodated us very graciously, with almost no wait!

Family visit

By Geri C |

Extremely disappointed not in the food but the service. We arrived and there were several tables ready to leave. We were promised a table that had a group of women that had been there for 3 hours. 35 minutes later, a table had not been cleared and we were not even offered a drink although a few of us were at the bar. The table of women had paid out at the time we arrived and were still there. We finally left and went next door to Jakes where we were promptly seated with excellent service. We will not return.

Move on

By LuvAirShows |

Service was beyond lack luster. I mean lack luster. Food was worth moving on to another place and eat and drink.

Fantastic Mexican

By issyhoman |

We found this near our hotel. As we had a short stay in Dallas we were craving good American Mexican food and Mattito’s did not disappoint. My Taco Salad was huge and delicious, as was my incredible frozen margarita with Corona - you simply have to try this huge statement cocktail! It turns up with an upside down bottle of corona gently decanting itself into your frozen cocktail, amazing! Really good food and great atmosphere.

My favorite in town

By Sherri H |

Love this place and Will is the best bartender. The food is fantastic and the Sunday brunch is awesome. Great nachos, fajitas, and steak.

Loved it!!

By ssg47 |

I recently visited Dallas on business and checked tripadvisor for Mexican restaurants. I wrote down several from the reviews here and luckily Matito's was near our hotel. This was the perfect Mexican restaurant. Casual, festive atmosphere......Speedy service. Within less than one minute of us sitting down, and we weren't even completely seated, a waiter came over and brought our menus, 3 glasses of water, chips & salsa. The food we ordered came out promptly and everything was delicious. I had my 2 senior parents with me. My mom likes Mexican, and dad ususally gets a burger if we visit a Mexican restaurant. This restaurant had a few dishes that we were able to find a meal he could enjoy. He had grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon and cheese, served w/mashed potatoes (terrific!) with freshly cut veggies (green & yellow zucchini & others). I had a combo dinner and my mom had a different grilled shrimp dish. We all had nice diinners, plus there was standard fare of tacos, burritos, etc. I saw several dishes come out of the kitchen and everything looked terrific. I also had a special drink, I think it was called a Rasberryrita or Berryrita.....Delicious! All in all, this was a terrific pick of a restaurant. At no point did we feel rushed. Service was timed perfect. I have absolutely no negative comments. I just loved everything about this restaurant. I don't know when I'll be back to Dallas, but I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. I just wish I lived closer! I know I'd be a regular customer. :):)

Good Food!

By bkhtxag |

I have eaten at this location many times especially for Sunday Brunch. The service food and drinks are always good especially with big groups but it's a BIG space and can be very crowded, loud and bustling. If you like that atmosphere, great! If you want quieter and romantic, choose a smaller place.

Pleasant Surprise

By HNBISOFF |

We made an unexpected stop at Mattito’s and we were glad we did. We stopped for a light lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The chips and salsa were very good. The tortilla soup and the quesadilla were very tasty. We also appreciate Mattito COVID compliance.

Fun Mexican Restaurant

By wwfrench |

My family has been going to Mattitos for 15 years!! Their Bob Armstrong queso is something we all crave!! The service is always good and the food reliable. I like the brisket tacos or a good cheese enchilada! The margaritas are always perfect too! Great place for large parties and they have a room upstairs for large groups In the nice weather the patio is nice!

Mattito's Restaurant Uptown

The service is great. Always fast and friendly! Food is delicious and great prices. Only setback might be small parking lot. Brisket tacos are really good!

Great food

By Linn D |

The chicken enchilidas with verde sauce are always my favorite. The food here is always great and genuine homemade style. The staff is very friendly and professional.

Yummm!

By Shannon S |

I love good Tex Mex and this was perfect! The atmosphere is fun and inviting! We sat outside on the patio since it was cooler. Beautiful patio! Margaritas were good and I got the fajitas plate with chicken, steak, broccoli and cauliflower. It was $15 but could have fed 3 people, so it was worth the price. The chicken and steak tasted so good! I'm gluten intolerant so I appreciated the gf labeling on the menu. I would eat here all the time if I didn't live so far away! Open one up in corpus Christi please!!

Great Mexican with a fun...

By Geoffrey B |

Great Mexican with a fun atmosphere. Avocado enchilada is the best!

Average food, strong drinks, weak service

By Flint34 |

It was really warm in the restaurant. We waited almost ten minutes before we got waters and chips and salsa. I think they overlooked us. After we ordered, a different waiter came by to take our order too. The drinks were strong and pretty good. The tacos were the best part of the meal. The Texas enchiladas were okay-cheese enchiladas with fajita meat on top. Average food and below average experience for us.

Saturday Brunch

By suemck1 |

This is going to be a regular spot for my husband and I. Parking in the underground garage is free with validated ticket. Follow the signs to get into the back entrance. We tried the Brunch and it was amazing. For the price you get two mixed drinks of mimosas or Bloody Mary, and I believe beer or margarita. My husband had breakfast his first trip to the buffet - eggs, potatoes, bacon and his second trip was fried chicken and waffles. I had fajitas and enchiladas. I believe the sour cream chicken was the best I have ever had! We love the atmosphere and being in an area of Dallas that has so much appeal and history. Our service was top notch. You can order from the menu if you’d rather have something else. Brunch menu and price is online. Fruit and dessert is served as well.

Consistent, but not memorable tex-mex. Unfortunate lack of unique menu items.

Basic texmex fare

By M.J |

You won't leave hungry, and you'll get your fair share of tasty cheese on top of the dishes, but fresh it won't be. Their salsa was quite good, and we did enjoy the enchiladas okay as we were very hungry, but we sat there and wondered if there had been a better place nearby. The chicken soup I got for starters got to me lukewarm, and the waiter didn't seem too happy as I mentioned it. As it got back to me it was quite clear it had been microwaved. The flavor was okay but it just wasn't fresh. The place itself has a nice patio with pretty night lights. Be prepared for traffic noise though.

Tex Mex with attitude!

From the spectacular margaritas to the chili, tacos and fixins.... just the best of the best! Great location, parking and convenience. We were with a party of 16 people. Everyone had an incredible time.

Wonderful job for our rehearsal dinner

By kreese2mk |

We booked our rehearsal dinner for the combined upstairs rooms for our group of 80 people. Cannot say enough good things about the food and the service we received. The staff introduced themselves to me when we got there to set up and offered to be of service in any way we needed. They really were great! The food was very good and the service exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this location for anyone booking a banquet event.

Mmmmmm

By marcy123654 |

Saw it from the freeway, parking lot was packed. So gave it a shot! The service was outstanding. Very friendly, personable, etc. The food was tasty with lots of flavor. I ordered a rumba drink that was awesome. Had a lot of alcohol in it and definitely felt it after one. So definitely looking for a great place for the price go here.

Great Mexican Food

By Festivalgoddess |

We enjoyed a late lunch (but too late for lunch specials). The food, margaritas and service were spot on! We started with the brisket quesadillas are the bomb! They are a house special for good reason. Big enough to share. We split the Tres Tacos plate that was also large enough to share. One was fish, one was pork and the third was brisket. The side of black beans was a welcome change from refried or charro beans.

Sad

By larryr0726 |

Not much better that Taco Bell. Nuff said. Guacamole from can, chips stale, menu very much like every other place we have been with Mexican type food. Had much better in Chicago.

Authentic Tex Mex menu

Nice place to get authentic tex mex food. Great atmosphere with inside or patio seating. We sat on the inside next to an open door (garage door type). It was nice and breezy and comfortable. Food was great and not expensive.

Brush Beats Blue Mesa !!

By Tree Love |

I have been to Dallas quite a bit and I always enjoy a great brunch before heading back to Atlanta ... I was in Love with Blue Mesa until I ate here !!1 This place beats out Blue Mesa for a number of reasons ... I will only share two ... One, the food is fresh, it seemed as though they were gaging what people were eating and how much so that they food was always fresh. I went closer to 12 before it got really packed so there wasn't really any lines ... for food or the omelets ... The omelet chef made it to perfection ! Two, that have valet parking. I have been to two Blue Mesa locations and they are both in shopping plazas so parking is terrible on a Sunday. So many people and Blue Mesa usually has a wait just to sit .. here they did not ... The first two mimosa are free with brunch and then 2 dollars each after. There is a ordinance or something that will not allow establishments to have bottomless mimosas or something like that ... Fact check that, a woman at another table gave us that information. I would defly, eat here again and would recommend it to anyone.

One of our favorite Mexican places

By KimKDallas |

My boyfriend introduced me to Mattitos a couple of months ago and we've definitely been back since then. Food is great, margaritas are good and service speedy. One thing you want to ask about that isn't on the menu --- they offer something called a "Bob Armstrong" -- which is named after a customer. It's a combo of queso, ground meat, guacamole, and sour cream. It's a great appetizer and a must try here!

Good basic Tex-Mex

By WednesdayNightGirl |

Food was really good! we walked over from our hotel and enjoyed the great atmosphere and good food. My mojito was exceptional!

Great Brunch Place!

By Liz S |

Mattito's has a wonderful weekend brunch buffet. The buffet is huge and has many different stations, with options that you don't find on every buffet. It is quite a bargain, too, with the unlimited mimosas. Can get quite crowded. But the patio is a nice option on a pretty day. Will be returning!

Party up!

By RevDRock |

We made reservations for an appreciation event for a group of 16. On a Sunday afternoon, we arrived and was promptly taken to the room seperate from the restaurant. It was on of their large dining areas. The event went without a hitch. We had nine adults and seven small children. The room provided isolation show that weren't a distraction. The food was plentiful and tasty. The service was very good. It was an excellent value.

They do have a great Sunday brunch!

a nice place for lunch

good food, waitstaff was attentive, and we got recommendations from multiple people to try it. I wasn't a fan of the queso, but the salsa was good.

Ordered Delivery from Grub Hub - Horrible

By Lisa |

I ordered delivery through Grub Hub at 7:24 pm. Got my order 2 hours later!!!!! Ordered a taco salad - horrible! The fajita meat was not even sliced, it was in huge chunks and not good at all. I ended up taking the meat out. The taco shell was burnt. I knew I was disappointed as soon as I saw the salad without even trying it. I ordered queso. No joke - it had to be velveeta cheese - very thick with barely anything else in it. I make better velveeta cheese than they did! Delivery was horrible, food was horrible - never again. This place needs Restaurant Impossible.

Father's Day Brunch

By Cassandra B |

We arrived at Mattito's at 10:00am. There was no wait. It was Father's Day however, we beat the crowd. The food was very tasty. They had a variety of food selections from made to order omelets to waffles, tacos, fajita's, apple and peach cobbler, cheesecake brownies just to name a few items. The food was served buffet style all you can eat. The price was a little higher than your normal buffet but there was also two cocktail drinks included with your meal. This was just a brief introduction of how the food was. I will definitely go back to Mattito's and recommend it to friends and family.

Ya gotta try the avocado enchiladas!

By RoundWorld80 |

I really like avocado and for my first visit I ordered the avocado enchiladas....yummy chunks wrapped in a corn tortilla. Served with savory pinto beans and rice. My taste buds were happy! Also had the martini margarita...well 3 to be exact...and all were consistently made well. Parking is convenient underground. Easy walking around the neighborhood if one wants to club.

Awesome Brunch

By Greg D |

This is a great place for brunch. Awesome tex-mex flavors mix things up over a traditional brunch. Traditional options are will available. The buffet includes awesome bottomless mimosas too! Come before noon to avoid a very long wait on Sundays.

Come Hungry!

By Kevin M |

We came here to try their Sunday Brunch, Wow! We came with a large group to celebrate a Birthday. Even on a very busy Sunday morning we were seated very quickly. (That impressed me lol). The food here is amazing and you have tons of choices. You can start with an awesome Bloody Mary or Mimosa, then select what seem likes endless Tex Mex choices from their buffet line or carving stations. I really liked the enchiladas and chimichangas here, but everything I sampled was really good. The crowd may look a little intimidating but the lines move fairly quick. We really enjoyed our meal here. They have a very good Valet parking service to help you out too.

Great atmosphere at Oak Lawn location. We were so glad to know they had free garage parking with easy access to Restaurant. The food was delicious. I love their mango salmon with grilled vegetables. Loved The Bob appetizer. and our waiter was spot on. We will be back.

What a fun place with great food.

By Wano16 |

We had some visitors from out of town that wanted a fun place with good Mexican food. One of my relatives suggested Mattito's. We arrived early as it tends to fill up, especially on weekends and we were too late to get a reservation. Drinks were excellent. Swirl margaritas are highly recommended along with their signature margarita. All the appetizers we ordered for the table were excellent. The restaurant highly recommends the queso with meat and sour cream. Heavenly! Everyone at the table ordered a different main course and not one complaint. Later in the evening the place became very crowded with two wedding parties in addition to the Friday night crowd. If you don't like it noisy, go very early. Volume is definitely up! Only valet parking. Do it, there is really not many other places to park.

This was a great meal with excellent service...

By Tom Stratton |

We had a party of six or seven and we all ordered quite different meals. Everything came out well prepared, hot and exactly as it was ordered. The parking was a little crowed, however, there may have been parking nearby that I did not see. I look forward to returning.

Icky

By Jane S |

The food was OK, the service was awful, but my main problem was the cleanliness of the place. I felt like everything needed to be hosed down and disinfected. The crowd was pretty rough, too. I thought I'd gone to a biker bar by mistake. Once was definitely enough for me and I wished I'd missed it altogether, but I had a coupon. Even a coupon wouldn't get me back.

Just OK

By Linda5355 |

Went here with a large group. Service was very good but the food was very average. My chicken fajitas were very rubbery. Everything seemed overcooked and dry.

Fun vibe; good food!

By maureenkeg |

We were here for a rehearsal dinner and the buffet that was set out was delicious. I liked the beef and chicken choice. They had corn as well as flour tortillas. Toppings were fresh, plentiful and delicious. Margaritas tasty!

Pleasant Experience

By DeepBlueDives |

This location of Mattito's carries all the familiar Tex-Mex offerings of the chain. This location has been here 10+ years and fit the bill for Tex-Mex Food. Drink specials were offered, and the waiter was willing to ring in an extra order just before the cut off at 6PM. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Definitely went out of their way to please. The house margarita's did not please the group, but the service and food were good. I had the brisket tacos with the side of gravy. They were very good. The rest of the group was pleased with their dinners. I am not sure we would go out of our way to visit this specific restaraunt. But I would eat here again.

Good options for vegetarians too

By floydntexas |

Good TexMex food with several options for vegetarians and several gluten free selections as well. Free parking in the garage below the Centrum, I hear the Sunday brunch is very popular.

The top shelf margarita(s) we're excellent. I can highly recommend the chicken mole enchiladas. My wife's chicken fajitas were also quite good. Kind of a noisy atmosphere but enjoyable.

I had the shrimp fajitas. It was good but not enough shrimp you only get six. They were grilled perfect and very flavorful.

Birthday Brunch

By Linda C |

It was a loud festive environment and the brunch included champagne, mimosas & a chocolate fountain.

Fun atmosphere and good service

By Nina B |

The main building that Matittos is in has been undergoing MAJOR renovations...despite this, the restaurant still provides a nice atmosphere inside and the service staff is very attentive. A good choice if you're in search of quality texmex food! My family had a rehearsal dinner here, and they were accommodating and let us come in early to set up our decorations. Food was great then, too!

Cristina is my favourite here. Such a jovial lady. She always has a cheerful smile and a gives a hearty welcome. The food is great, the drinks are strong. Check-out their happy hour each weekday 😋

Very good deal on the Sunday brunch - unlimited mimosas and a fab selection of tex-mex as well as traditional brunch dishes. Do not miss the dessert table and the chocolate fountain! Be prepared for a total zoo though - its a popular choice and the wait can be long. Relaxed atmosphere but it can get pretty loud.

The best Tex - Mex

By John K |

My wife and I popped into Mattito's on the off chance. So glad that we did. As soon as we walked through the door we was greeted cheerfully and shown straight to our table. Our server greeted us with a smile and was so friendly and helpful. Tortilla chips, salsa and queso quickly arrived whilst we made our choices from the menu. We both settled for the chicken enchiladas, beef tamali in chilli sauce and refried beans. This was the best Tex-Mex we have had. We received regular, but not overbearing, attention from the serving staff who took care of our service happily and quickly. This place is a must visit if you want great food and a great dining experience in Dallas.

A Nice Experience in the Heart of Oak Lawn

By Daniel B |

I was thinking "OK, another Tex-Mex Joint with flashy lights and horrible food" BUT I am happy to say that I was totally wrong. At the invitation of some good friends who know the area we did all go to Mattito's for dinner and were not disappointed. From the minute we walked in the front door the service was impeccable. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice cool evening. Our waiter was awesome, the food was good and the price was fair. I had the grilled fish tacos and they were great. The chips and salsa were pretty good too.

Excellent

By Espresso_Doppio |

I didn't even know this place existed. We went to other shops in the mall and casually ended up eating the best Mexican I can remember. Service was excellent and reasonable prices considering the quality and amount of food served. I truly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Mexican food.

A great value for the money

By Alisha D |

I came here for the Sunday brunch with a friend and was pleased. The food was good and there was an adequate number of options. The bottomless mimosas were truly bottomless with staff stopping by every few minutes to refill the drink. They were delicious and weren't watered down. Almost like champagne with a shot of orange juice. Needless to say, I stopped after 8 refills. Great to go with friends. I will definitely return when I'm in town.

Great place for private parties

By Kassira |

Mattito's menu is delicious and they have a second floor for private functions. Just celebrated a class reunion there and the quesadillas and margs were off the chain. Service also spectacular! Very accommodating!

Think "Bob Armstrong" - Bueno!

By Mycloudj |

When in Texas there're two types of cuisines that are a must; steakhouses and Mexican. We visited Mattito's on recommendation from an airline attendant who spends a lot of time checking out good places to eat when in Dallas. The food was very good, but the off menu appetizer and special item was exceptional . It is called "Bob Armstrong". It is melted cheese, beef, guacamole and sour cream dip and it's GREAT! This is not a fancy place but it's a friendly fun place with very good Mexican food.

Hearty Tex-Mex Food. It Is Exactly What You Expect!

By GilmerSensei |

This is a big fun casual Tex-Mex restaurant where you will get all of the familiar things you want. The food is reliable. They have all the expected things (Tacos, Burritos, Carnitas, and something with a Mole sauce!, etc.). There are enough wait staff for fast drink and food service. If you are not looking to be adventurous and looking for a sure thing, look here.

Good, Tex-Mex nice variety

By Kitchencutie |

Been going here for years. Good hot Tex-mex food. The salsa is good and I love the Bob Armstrong queso it is delicious. Love the fajitas. Always tender and the veggies cooked perfectly. Never have gotten a bad meal. Have a nice bar selection as well. Of course a Margarita is my choice with good Tex-Mex! Try it, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Food isn't great

By Kimberly M |

While it was close to where I had a meeting the food at the restaurant was not good. The queso was made from velveta and the inside of the enchiladas had no cheese and was cold.

Great tex-mex, salsa & drinks!

By sharonbygrace |

We have eaten at more Tex-Mex places than I can count. It's a matter of preference, I know, but I LOVE this place!!!! Been twice to the one in Irving at 635 & MacArthur. Awesome food, salsa, and margarita's. Nice kids menu, prompt/friendly service, multiple tv's, and an outdoor patio as well as a bar with happy hour specials. Great place to kick back or bring the family/friends! We will definitely be regular's now!

My daughters and I had lunch at new Mattitios location last week and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Everything with superb, from the warm welcome, quick seating, delicious food and great service. Not only were we waited by Miguel, but several others stopped to ask if we needed anything else or to give drink refills. Because of the service and the excellent food, I booked my daughter's birthday party there next week and cannot wait to go back.

An amazing brunch!

Came here with my mom and her sisters. Needless to say we had a blast. The food was good and the mimosas were unlimited. Great experience.
