They need to Spray for bugs.

By englishford1949 |

A Roach Crawled up my seat while eating. Freaked my head out. I spoke to hostess before i left and said you need to spray. But I am not going there again

Our server made suggestions on size of portions that was not on the menu.

By Kay2929 |

We have eaten her many times and enjoy the outdoor dining. Great for groups, families or couples that make for a festive atmosphere. The enchiladas with chili at like I have eaten for years. We like the friendly service.

Tex-Mex should be more interesting than this

By gapngo |

Dined on a slow Saturday afternoon. The queso is nice, but I prefer the guacamole on the side. The salsa is yummy if you like it mild. Sitting on the patio, the Mexican martinis were nicer to look at than to drink. Way to much ice in the shaker makes for a very watery drink. I was tempted to order a shot of tequilia to add to the mix. We had one of the salads with the shrimp. My wife liked the seafood, but the overall dish was nothing special. With all the Tex-Mex choices around the area, this spot didn't stand out. Oh, and the service was too slow.

Good food and nice atsmosphere

By 1234texas |

This is a good little spot just off 71 to get a decent Tex/Mex meal in a nice place at reasonable prices. The views from the outside patio are very good--Hill Country. Unfortunately, the street noise can be a little loud. We prefer the inside tables. Service is OK and parking is easy--just outside the front entrance. The place can be very busy at times, but there are ample alternative options in the area.

Wonderfully managed restaurant

By Wil G |

This place is a well-oiled machine! After you've been here once, the staff remembers your name and what you prefer. The bar staff is phenomenal. We prefer to eat in the bar area, but the restaurant is also very attentive. Food is great, as are all of Maudie's locations. This is a go-to place in Bee Cave.

It'SAUL GOODMAN

By Hank512 |

Outstanding ritas by the bar staff. Great enchiladas. The service in the bar at this location is unequaled by other locations.

Lunch Disappointment

By Angela H |

I'd recommended Maudie's in Bee Cave to a long time friend, and we went there for lunch today. My chicken taco and chicken soft taco dish was terrible. There were cartilage bits in the chicken, and the soft taco was laying in something watery and completely ruined it - I didn't eat it. Service was slow and indifferent. The last 2 times I was there it was great - but not today!

Good service and tasty food

By ntd19 |

A great night out with the family. The service was terrific and very quick. They did a great job making sure the two kids were served quickly. The adults had very good food and also shared the quick service. I would definitely recommend.

Marg/Mex

By gscizz |

Don’t know what the fuss about bad service and food is about, slipped in for an end of day business wrap up. Service was prompt, attentive, margaritas were top notch and the food was delicious. Nice patio, plain old comfort Tex mex, nothing fancy but comfortable.

Great patio, good food, excellent margaritas

By Dada the World Traveler |

Maudie's has a reputation for good food in all their restaurants in Austin. This one is not an exception. We were put off by the TexMex description originally, but we found the menu has a good mix of Tex Mex (burritos, etc.) and authentic Mexican (love their Carnitas tacos) mixed with a few unique dishes of their own like the spinach enchiladas. The restaurant is very convenient to Hill Country Galleria Shopping. The patio is awesome. There is also indoor seating and a bar with a TV. The decor is modern, cool and comfortable. Service is always good. On this visit I had a skinny margarita and the Piña Pico Shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. My wife had the fajitas, which are a sure bet. One of my daughters had a burger (yes, I know) which was surprisingly good. The other one had a salad with a cilantro vinaigrette which she enjoyed. We had no room to try the sopapillas or the flan for dessert. We are definitely coming back

Love the enchiladas!

By SLOJon |

I keep going back to this place because of the enchiladas smothered with chile con carne and chile con queso. It's a unique taste that I don't get in my home state, California. In particular, I recommend the Tio Chon Special because it has a little bit of everything in the taste department. I also like the Poblano Crema Enchiladas. The salsa and the margaritas are good, too.

OK

By spinman15 |

Wait in your car to be called. Most of our party liked most of the food. I thought some of it was a little greasy but I'm not a big Tex-Mex fan. Outdoor patio was pleasant. Staf was good & bad but said they were short handed.

Good Mexican - Just Not My Favorite...

By Spplsa |

Living in Central Texas, you get spoiled with so many great Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants to choose from. There's nothing wrong with Maudie's - it's just not my favorite. To me, it's just average for Mexican food. This location is good - easy access to the Hill Country Galleria. I like their tacos and queso.

Breakfast All Day

By Dave N |

Stopped in mid-afternoon; not too busy but we sat in the bar and had to wait about 5 minutes to get our chips, sauce & menu. Was happy to find out I could still get their breakfast tacos. Ordered "Pete's Taco" and thoroughly enjoyed them, a little spicy but great taste. My wife had Poblano Cream Enchiladas, a first and she was delighted. This is one of our favorite Tex-Mex restaurants that we visit when staying in the Hill Country. We'll be going back for more Poblano enchiladas and the great chips & dip soon.

Reasonable and Good

By GracieG2015 |

We've eaten here several times and have enjoyed the restaurant each time. If you have to wait (which is possible on Saturdays), the bar is very welcoming with a friendly bartender. You can also have lunch or dinner at the bar. Sporting events are always playing too, especially welcome during football season. The staff is very efficient. Portions are quite large. The margaritas are very good and reasonably priced. The food is very tasty and has always been well-prepared. It can be a noisy place because of families with children but it does add to the "ambience" of the place. The outdoor area is heated for cool nights. Parking is plentiful as well. It located at the Shops at the Hill Country Galleria and is a convenient and enjoyable place to have lunch or dinner after shopping.

Trip Advisor nailed it.

By Andy Z |

Trip Advisor generally is pretty accurate with reviews. This place looked like a solid 3+ which generally means the place is about average. Previous reviews did not disappoint. This place was pretty average! Waited a bit for a table at almost 1:30 on a Sunday. That was fine. Gave us anticipation that the place would have amazing food. It's good to be hopeful isn't it? Food was OK. Nice ambiance. Too bad it was so cold outside. They had a great patio and rooftop area for outside dining, but not when its 37 degrees! Inside was cozy. I had chicken fajitas. Chicken was cut too thick, was slightly over cooked, and was pretty flavorless. (Maybe my fault because I asked them not to add the Serrano peppers.) Not bad, just flavorless. The corn tortillas were wrapped so tightly in foil that when I finally unpacked them, they were permanently curled and dried out. Tough to make true fajitas with them. Guacamole was average and the Pico de gallo was less than. Rice and beans were pretty good. Spouse had "skinny" chicken enchiladas. She said hers was pretty flavorful but still said overall the place was worth a 3.5. Since we can't do 3.5 on TA, I give them a 3. On a beautiful day, this is probably an awesome spot and sitting outside with a view of the Hill Country might offset the mediocre food. Not telling anyone not to go. It was filling and reasonably priced. But it's a long way from matching the average level of Tex Mex in Austin, as a whole.

So so food and service

By Gary T |

Some things never change. The last time I visited this place I wrote a review and titled it exactly the same. We visited for a late lunch on a weekday and lunch crowds had cleared. We ordered a "Large Caldo" and a "Taco Dinner #3". The Caldo is mostly liquid with a little bit of chicken thrown. On the Taco Dinner I had asked for chicken tacos and they were quite bland, I don't think the chicken was spiced at all. I spiced it up with some of the chip salsa which is pretty good. Despite the fact that the place was slow, service was slow and inattentive.

Great location, good food and drinks

By AustinEEE |

We weren't as thrilled with the south lamar Maudie's as everyone else seems to be, largely because the dining experience wasn't that great. Maudie's however has a great setting in hill country and we found both the service, drinks and food quite nice. If you're in Bee Cave definitely worth checking out. We also appreciated that breakfast tacos (and breakfast food in general) are served all day.

I love this place.

By Alexa S |

I love their food. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a great location. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants good Mexican food.

Bee Cave Location

By Michele Y |

Trip Advisor listed this as being in Austin but the address is the Bee Cave Hill Country location, so I want the readers to know I am reviewing Bee Cave location and not Austin. My husband and I stopped there about 1pm on a Saturday. It's in a busy shopping center so I thought it would be crowded but to our surprise there was plenty of seating inside and out. This is a Tex-Mex restaurant, so those of you that are looking for authentic Mexican fare need not eat here and then leave bad reviews. We were seated quickly and our orders taken and received in short time. The food was good as were the margaritas. The menu is a bit grand as stated in other reviews but if you are not new to Tex Mex, one usually knows what they like. This is definitely on my return list.

Fast service; yummy Tex-Mex

By sls1958 |

It was our first time to visit a Maudie's resturant. The Tex-Mex food is awesome and the service was quick and effiecent. Definitely worth another visit.

Maybe I was expecting too much

By Larry H |

Not being from Texas I guess I expected Tex-Mex in Texas to be special. While what we had was quite good I would not consider it out of the ordinary. Still, a good place for a descent Mexican meal.

Fast service, good food

By Emily S |

This is my "go to" for Tex-Mex in the area. They're fast, accurate, and the servers have always been very attentive. Also, they do have "healthier" options on their menu which is a plus!

Good Tex-Mex

By NickInChina1 |

If you are in a hurry and want to grab some good Tex-Mex, this is the place. We enjoy many of their dishes Very good salsa.

Amazing!

By lea a |

Such great food, great atmosphere and great staff. Chase was our server and I felt like I made a new friend by the end of the meal. He was so personable and just outstanding. Will definitely go here again next time I’m in the area. Thank you!

Great Food and Service

By TJ S |

Hosted a large group at this restaurant in a private room. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. Service was excellent.

Big Helpings & Great Salsa

By Dave N |

Found this restaurant after getting my hair cut in Bee Cave. Didn't know what to expect but was happily surprised. We had breakfast, but it included some of the best chips & salsa we had ever had (only have found one place better). The Sausage Migas was very good but very large. We've returned to this restaurant several times, even though it was about an hour's drive from the condo we were staying at. The trip was worth it, plus found that you can get an order of Salsa (16 oz) to go.

Disappointing

By Bonnie T |

We arrived around 4:30 and they were not very busy. I ordered a specific item on the menu because it came with sliced avocado. When the plate arrived, there was not an avocado to be found. While the food was Ok, it was not what I was expecting based on the menu. My husband's food was also OK, but nothing special. On a positive note, the beer was cold, and the waiter was wonderful. Once I realized there were no avocados per the description, the waiter did offer to bring some, but since the meal was partially eaten, I declined. Bathrooms were not the cleanest. Most likely will not return.

My favorite Mexican food place in the area!

By katpacher |

Right when you sit down they bring you out free chips and salsa for the table, and trust me their salsa is unbeatable. The food here is so good and I always find myself ordering out to go if I am not planning to have a dinner out. Their powerbowl is my favorite, I could eat it everyday! Great patio spot when the weather is nice too and quick service.

Texas-Mex to make a Texan proud

By SWaN1111 |

Very good food and service. The shrimp stuffed avocado had great flavor and tons of shrimp, while the enchiladas were prepared perfectly. My only complaint is that the outside seating is too close to the street, and it can be noisy when trucks go by. Overall, a nice experience that I will soon repeat.

Typical Mexican Food.

By SuperThompsons |

Part of a chain. Great for a quick dinner. Food was good. I had the Fajita quesadilla. Large portions.

Not great. We were there for

By Yael m |

Not great. We were there for breakfast. The waiter was nice and pleasant enough. The eggs oily and just not great. Sorry did not enjoy it

Nice patio, good food and service

By M J |

I met members of my family at Maudie's Hill Country (in Bee Cave) on a Monday evening in March. The weather was great so we ate outside. They have a large outside patio that is covered. We ordered plates with Beef Chili Relleno, Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Tacos, Tamales and Shrimp Tacos. They came with rice and beans. Everything was tasty and the service was great. We will be back.

tourist respite

By joy |

we were coming back from a day of sight seeing in the area and stopped at maudie's. a great choice, welcoming casual atmosphere, including patio dining and koi ponds. plentiful food, options for vegetarians, fabulous margaritas..in fact, my sister-in-law later said she liked me a little better after those margaritas!

Tex-Mex

By Ashley |

Large menu of Tex-Mex favorites with a large selection of signature drinks and a well stocked bar. Fast and friendly service. Reasonably priced menu with something for everyone. Great salsa and dips.

Tex Mex

By Louis C |

Large restaurant, good Mexican food excellent quick service. Convenient to Galleria and Sonesta Hotel. Easy to drive by, off road at an angle coming from Galleria. Authentic Mexican menu with al la cart and dinner choices.

Standard "Mexican" Fare

By Puffmome |

Totally unremarkable food. The service is pretty good, but it feels like a big old factory just cranking out food. I've been there for dinner, lunch and brunch and I've disliked all 3. The kiddos, however liked it. They love the offering of breakfast for dinner. However if you want good Mexican or Tex-Mex, this is not the place to be.

Lunch specials

By cedar4604 |

Can't beat the lunch special for $6.75. We were there on a Friday at 12:30 and were seated right away. Excellent hot sauce with the complimentary basket of chips. The food arrived within five minutes. Very typical tex-mex enchiladas, beans, and rice. Enjoyed the patio dining!

Tex-Mex así-así

By Chuck D |

With all the authentic and traditional Mexican food places in Austin we went in search of a quality Tex-Mex restaurant. We're still searching. OK, maybe we're spoiled. North Texas has some of the best Tex-Mex restaurants around and we expected something similar. Now, in all fairness, Maudie's was above average - barely; it was clean, the staff friendly, and the prices reasonable. However, we ordered fajitas for lunch and the beef was something like shoe leather; tough, chewy and stringy. The chicken was pretty good. The real complaint I had is with their methods. They serve the tortillas two at a time rolled up in tinfoil. While initially this sounds like a good idea, in practice it isn't. They are very hot and are difficult to handle. They are difficult to separate, and even more difficult to flatten and fill. Then what to do with the one left? Roll it back up in the tinfoil? Um, no. The guacamole was very good, the chips fresh and crunchy and the pico de gallo was obviously freshly made. Then there's the cheese. It was served shredded but It tasted like Velveeta. The server swore it was just "soft cheddar." OK. Never heard of that before, but OK. This will not be on our list of places to re-visit. Gracias no.

So so food and service

By Gary T |

We dined here for lunch after a Sunday morning mass. The place was pretty busy so we thought it was likely a good place to eat. We had two "Large Caldo" and a "Taco Salad". A "Large Caldo" is a chicken tortilla soup, and ours were mostly all soup, with some tortilla and a little bit of chicken. Neither of us was satisfied afterwords and wished we had of tried something else. The third person in our party had the Taco Salad and found it to be nice. Service was a real disappointment. We basically saw the waitress three times- once about twenty minutes after we arrived to take our order, a few minutes later she brought a tea and our waters, and then about 20-30 minutes after we had finished we finally waved her down to get our check. I'm pretty sure she saw us gesturing many times before but just didn't want to take the time to see what we needed. The kitchen was quite slow as well, with our food arriving 20-30 minutes after we ordered.

Food is great, service is average

By 77tr1pper |

Great tex mex. Love the "bowls" of salad - great dressing! Wonderful steak tacos. Service is always slow...

Great TexMex food.

By imAngelfish |

We like the Chicken fajita quesadillas. The creamy cheese and onion mixture is delicious.

Watch out for patio dining

By Tripsfor100 |

Never know what is lurking under that patio. Yikes! Food ok just average, close by in shops at galleria, good parking.

Just fine after shopping.

By toadandbear |

We had spent several hours looking around Bee Cave at real estate and rentals. People said try Maudies it's pretty good. We went and were certainly satisfied with all aspects of the visit. It was busy. We ordered Taco salad with chicken for my wife and I had Fajita beef enchiladas. The portions were above average and hotly served. We both had nice margaritas and I thought they were a little under average in size and alcohol. We will probably go there again. Bee Cave and Lakeway are nice areas.

The best tortilla soup!,,

By Sherry E |

Maudie's has the best tortilla soup anywhere, great chicken broth with big chunks of chicken and avacado, with fresh cilantro, rice and chopped onion on the side that you add as per your preference. Yum! A cup is equal to a bowl of soup at home and very reasonably priced. I also like their fajita beef nachos, or the shredded chicken power bowl or their chicken enchiladas. The chips and salsa is good and do are their margaritas. Their crispy beef tacos are ok, but I prefer Flores for tacos. They have an outside patio with a fountain, fans and great view of the hill country.

Great Tex-Mex

By hal m |

Maudie's has several locations and the food can be different at each. This is our favorite of them all. The food is always consistent and the views sitting outside of the hill country are awesome!

Very good Tex-Mex

By Floridasailor_11 |

We lived in Mexico 7 years….we found this Tex-Mex very restaurant authentic. There were 5 family members…two of us ordered the 3 beef taco platter. What came was 2 tacos, but large enough to be filling. One had the Tacos Al Pastor and said they were excellent. We had a little trouble communicating with our server…don’t think English was his first language. But otherwise service was good. Reasonable value for good Tex-Mex. Would go again.

Great Everything!

By marilyns634 |

Super service, from hosts to bus attendants. Great food (favorites are the green enchiladas and the chicken burritos). Wonderful happy hour treats-Mondays happy hour until close! Families, friends, co-workers, we've had all three here. A true favorite.

a quick place for a mill

By J E |

We eat here often. Usually when we need something quick. The service here is very quick. The quality tends to be consistent as well. Not the best Mexican food but it is quick food. They also have a breakfast menu. Services tends to be friendly. Not too expensive. Happy hour on Monday's 3pm to Close. This location has a nice outdoor space to enjoy.

First visit.

By Carlos |

Very friendly staff, seated us quickly. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Started out with drinks, quick to arrive. I noticed that the staff all work together, very efficient. We made our order and was not disappointed, good portions, heated and delicious. Looking forward to our next visit.

Don't bother! They have lost their grip

By sbcarterclu |

We have been loyal patrons since their opening. We have been regulars at Lake Austin Blvd. & Slaughter Ln.....now Hill Country. This location has lost their touch. This is a real shame. S......L......O.....W service. Enchiladas were virtually empty. Chili was overly seasoned with chili powder and the cheese wasn't even melted. Hard shell taco was very light on meat. No tortillas. We will not return.

Decent

By greeneyedqtpi |

We had lunch here recently. I was pleased with the items that I ordered, a chalupa and spinach and mushroom quesadilla. My other half ordered a burrito and and was satisfied with it. He had been once before for lunch with work people, and said the time we went was better than his first time.

Not good!!

By Ray K |

Luke warm, unseasoned food. Brown guacamole, slow service, and extremely slow getting drinks. Other Maudie's outings have been good, but in a town chock full of Mexican restaurants, there would be absolutely no reason to go back. Not terrible, just not good.

Good TexMex, but not tops

By wemarionFishnGolf |

Had a good dinner here with the beef fajita especial plate. Overall a good meal just wasn’t overly jazzed from it. Did like the chips and queso... the salsa was good but nothing especial.

Decent, fast, Tex-mex

By jaz79h |

Met friends here. Not amazing Tex-mex, but decent, fairly priced, and fast. Chili rilenos were tasty poblano peppers well-stuffed; sauce a little watery. Ok margaritas. Good for what it is.

Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service

By Cherylynne1964 |

We recently at there while moving our son to the area. I had the Chicken Fajita's. Very good!!!! The service was quick and friendly. I would highly recommend Maudie's Hill Country when you're in the area.

Awful!

By Kim Lee J |

First and last visit. In the area and love Mexican food but what we ordered here was not Mexican. I ordered the light lunch which had a taco, taco chips with queso and guacamole salad. The queso was more like cheese whiz. The ground beef meat on the taco had absolutely no flavor. My husband had a chicken taco and the chicken also had no flavor. The guacamole salad was like some of the premixed guacamole you buy at the grocery store. Nothing authentically TEX Mexican!

Mediocre Tex-Mex food

By RonOAustin_Texas |

From the queso to the enchiladas, tacos, rice, beans and store bought tortillas, this is not good Mexican food. Obviously, many people think so because the line is out the door at times. I've been there several times and it's always mediocre at best.

GREAT FOOD! DISMAL SERVICE!

By Darlene H |

My husband and I went Saturday evening for Mothers Day and the food was delicious. We ate on the patio and it was very pleasant since it had rained most all day. I had only eaten here once before, but I’ll definitely go back because the food was excellent! I ordered a frozen Margarita with no salt but it came with salt. Our waiter took it back but I’m sure they just wiped the salt off of the rim because I could still taste salt!! I ordered the Mexican Special with beef enchiladas instead of cheese for a small price increase. The enchiladas were brought out along with my husbands Grilled Shrimp Tacos I had to get to get our waiters attention to get the taco and guacamole that were supposed to come with my dinner. I finally got it, when we were through with our other food and there wasn’t any guacamole on the plate! I informed our waiter when I could get his attention again and he said he would get it but we were already through eating so he took $1 off! After waiting again a long time I finally went inside to see if we could get out bill so we could leave!

Come On ,clean up the place

By tyoung1121 |

After a quick shopping trio thought a quick bite and drink at a well known local would e good. The resturant was filthy, inside and out. Maybe a good power washing would be the answer, but for sure a broom seep and serious mopping. Did I catch this locationon a bad day??? Don't know, but the walk way to our table outside was on sticky lfoors and food left behind under tables from previous diners. Our ourside table area was just dirty.

Pretty good Mexican lunch

By S6blr |

We went there today with friends for lunch and had a predictable lunch of middle of the road Tex Mex. It’s easy to park at, easy to get seated, suspect it’s a regular for folks shopping locally.

Busy Spot-Get There Early

By Gran7 |

Fun Tex-Mex spot in a great location in Bee Cave. They have good cheese dip, nice entrée selections and a great drink menu. There is inside or outside seating availab.e This is a great local spot and always lively and fun. The staff is great. Nice prices for a family.

All Maudie's are not created Equal!

By Christine1213 |

While it does have a very nice atmosphere, the food and drinks here are just not as good a other Maudie's. The couple we were with felt the same way we did and we've heard it from others too. Not sure what they do different, but some places in Lakeway try to make it more upscale and they should just stick to how the other Maudie's do it!

Well-balanced Tex-Mex Cuisine

By Matthew Gibson |

The Tex-Mex we were craving! We both had the Regular Dinner and a couple of cold cervezas. The cheese enchiladas were tasty, with a really nice chile con carne sauce that had the perfect balance of flavor and spice. The crispy taco was very good as well, with high-quality cheddar cheese on top. The service was good (not great) but it was busy and everyone was extremely nice, so no complaints from me.

It's Tex-Mex, Y'all

By ndmny |

Maudie's is known about town for its margaritas and cuisine. The Hill Country location is a very nice space, with great views and outdoor seating. It is comfortable and great for families with kids. The food tastes fresh and the service is spectacular. Also, there are great options with fish, beef, chicken and vegetarian, along with salads for those wanting to feel less guilty about the margarita and chips that are going down easy.

Love the food and friendly staff

By Leon-from-Austin |

This is one of our favorite places for any meal. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We enjoy it all. It's priced perfect and it's all consistently good. I really enjoy their power bowl. It's great for any meal and very healthy. I also like that they will tweak anything on their menu. Keep up the good work.

El Pastor was good

By lgp112 |

Outdoor seating was o.k., was very hot in the direct sunlight and they had dinky metal tables that didn't make the atmosphere feel as good as it should. Traffic around the corner as well. The El Pastor was really good though.

Brunch was a bargain

By sunyatcamp |

We went here because it was close to my husband's newphew's house. It was Tex-Mex and enjoyable. I was not real hungry, so I ate a vegetarian taco with potatoes, chees and veggies. It was good but no sauce came with it. We ate well and the service was good.

Bad food. Bad service.

By 1twangster |

Chips and salsa arrived quickly, but we had no water. Took a long time for our server to appear and he was elusive throughout our meal. We needed the water badly. He finally brought it, and then hastily disappeared. We did eventually order our food but he seemed bothered that we were there. My wife ordered a Mexican Coke after the food arrived. The server brought the bottled Coke and a glass with no ice. We had to go looking for him and finally found someone to get us some ice. I've had the green tomatillo enchiladas here before, and they were good. Not this time. Very bland sauce and dry and tasteless chicken. The refried bean were terrible and tasteless too. My wife had chicken fajita nachos. The chicken was good but the nacho tortilla chips were dry and awful. The pico de Gallo was pitiful. No serranos or jalapeños at all. Pretty sad when you don't even know how to make pico de gallo. The guacamole was bland and tasteless too. Their guacamole is always terrible. They should go taste the guacamole at Matt's El Rancho or Alfredo's in Kingsland to realize how poorly their guacamole is. But the worst part of the meal turned out to be the nasty jalapeños served with my wife's nachos. I grabbed a big pile of them and dropped them on my enchiladas. And then I tasted them. Yuk. Awful. They were somewhat sweet and heavily marinated with oregano. The oregano was all I could taste and it fouled my bland enchiladas. Not the proper jalapeños for nachos. The waiter let my water glass dry up 3 times. We also waited way too long to request our check. And I don't care for their salsa. I try to like it every time we go there but I just don't care for their blend. Way too much ground onion for me. And I live onions. We will never return. Terrible food and pitiful service.

Best part of Maudie's is convenience

By Chip G |

Maudies in bee cave is fine. Not great not bad. Here is what I like...beef fajita quesadillas , the upstairs bar (it's a great hideaway for adults) the fact they serve breakfast all day. The entree menu across the board is average and the service is inconsistent. The atmosphere is great except for the driveway entrance to the shops at the galleria that goes almost thru the patio. Don't get me wrong I will keep going back because it is convenient if you live in bee cave and there are things I like. I guess my standard is the older Maudie's on lake Austin boulevard which I love. But bee cave store is not there yet

Heavy

By RWG2020 |

Disappointing and very heavy Tex-Mex food. We had very standard fare - nachos, chicken enchiladas and beef tacos. Nothing special nor exciting. There are many places better than this.

Maudie's Rescued Our Sunday

By Tlacotalpan |

We had just arrived from another restaurant that had not served us food for 40 minutes. Watch what happened next at Maudie's: Chips and salsa on the table within 20 seconds, a waiter putting down water and taking orders in less than 60 seconds - with a smile, eye contact and a warm greeting! Enchiladas and guacamole on the table less than five minutes later. The place was packed with happy customers, adding to the nice ambience. The well-choreographed staff performed their tasks smoothly and efficiently, making it all look easy! The food and service were just great. We've been to Maudie's a few times before, and we'll certainly be back.

Terrific ambiance, drinks, food & service!

By ktmaeder |

Every time I visit Dripping Springs I visit Maudie's! Their fajitas are wonderful, the salads are out of this world, the chalupa's hit the spot, my son loves the tacos and nachos, my daughter loves the chimi & enchiladas. The margarita's are well made, not too tart or too strong. The queso was fabulous as was the table side guac.

Dependable

By Staunchest |

You know what to expect when you walk in the door. It is consistently good quality food at a reasonable price. Service is normally good, and the patronage reflects the people keep coming back.

Breakfast Anytime

By originalsix |

This is a great breakfast *anytime* spot, with good value. I love the Pete's tacos with salsa, and the kids love the pancakes. The last couple of times the food arrived quickly. Even on a busy Sunday, we were in and out in good time.

Great food!

By Jamie P |

I highly recommend Maudie's! I've been to 2 different locations and this one is my favorite! The food and service are both terrific! They have a fantastic patio for those perfect days/nights or just to let the kids run around and still be contained. For those gluten free folks, they have a separate menu just for you!

The best tortilla soup anywhere!

I eat at Maudie’s for specific Texmex foods and those are great. They have the best tortilla soup anywhere....great chicken soup with rice, fresh cilantro, avacado, and tortilla strips in three sizes. We get the small, which is a normal bowl of soup. They have good drinks, nachos, enchiladas and I love their power bowls with chicken. The salsa and chips are good as well. Their beef tacos and some of their other foods are just average, so I go elsewhere for that. But I keep coming back for the tortilla soup.

Good TexMex with a terrace

By MOR70 |

Good TexMex food. Margaritas are good also and you can order them exactly how you like them (with or without salt). Terrace available

Good local Mexican food.

By Scott H |

Maudie's is a place we usually frequent on Friday nights. Great local place that is always popular with friends and family. My favorites are the crispy beef tacos and the cheese enchiladas. The food is always good but avoid the 6pm to 7pm times if possible due to the wait. Also, I would sklp the margaritas and have something different.

Maudie's is GOOD

By Ken |

During our first visit we were already discussing when we could come back. I enjoyed the Poblano Crema Enchiladas for varieties' sake, but will order something else next time. The Rice and Beans were both about as good as those sides can be! We had service both good and friendly, too.

Good drinks and friendly staff

By Casselle123 |

Drinks are decent, Queso is good and the staff is friendly. That's about it for me. It pains me to say that too. I love to give good reviews. This place is average. Stick to the basic tex-mex like enchiladas or quesadillas and it's not bad. The only reason I go is because my husband likes the drinks here so we go about once a month. The last two times I went, I ventured off the path of enchiladas and tried something new. The first was chile rellenos with chicken. The chicken was shredded and very bland. Love chile rellenos just not here. It tasted canned but I don't think it's canned...just had the taste. The last visit was just this past weekend. I had what was supposed to be marinated grilled chicken with a poblano cream sauce and Jack cheese. What I got was a very dry chicken breast in water/the marinade??? It was like soup. The poblano cream and Jack cheese totally disintegrated in the soupy water it was floating in. Our waitress is the same waitress we have every time and I really like her so I didn't complain. I didn't eat it and focused on the Queso, which was good. I asked for a to-go box thinking I could recycle this meal into something better at home for dinner. When I walked out the door I realized I forgot the box. This shows you how bad the meal was...I didn't go back in to get it. I had maybe 5 bites and this girl never throws away a meal. Maudie's you've gotta get it together and regroup. This needs to change because with all of the rapid growth around here the locals are getting more and more choices. Before you came here, we had Rosie's and Flores. When you showed up, you put a major hurt on Rosie's. I'm just saying that if you're quality doesn't go back up, your customers will move on to the next best thing that much quicker. By the way, I love you Rosie's and Flores.

Pretty restaurant, not much else

By Tinybluemax |

Inattentive waitstaff who didn't get my friend's order right and then charged us for the correction! A $9.00 salad with a few pieces of cubes rubber chicken, a top shelf margarita that tasted EXACTLY like my friend's house margarita. I guess they've been around too long and have just stopped trying....

Great food, nice decor, pleasant staff

By AustinEEE |

We've eaten here several times in the last month. Overall the fun has been excellent and service good. We've been ordering their "lite" menu and the food has been very flavorful. This Maudie's has a much nicer and more contemporary decor. Good shopping is nearby in Bee Cave.

Maudie's Tex Mex

By Tex-travler1475 |

We eat a lot of Tex Mex and had heard a lot about Maudie's so maybe our expectations were too high. The food was ok but nothing special. The fajitas were a little under seasoned for our taste and all else, tacos, enchiladas have been fine. It's a very family friendly place and is always crowded. Service is efficient. We don't avoid Maudie's, but it probably isn't a 'got to go there' destination either.

Who Knew? Great TexMex in Our Back Yard

By Mike W Jones |

My first visit and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Great chips and salsa. The kids loved the queso even though it was a bit tame for my taste. The tacos and enchiladas were great. I was craving a frozen margarita (it was a very hot day) and found it to be a bit sweet. Great prices and reasonable (not huge) portions. We will be back!

Sunday Lunch

By jean b |

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch there - good food, good value and great service. There was a great selection of menu items…especially like the Grandma special!

Good food but weird atmosphere

By Mike M |

We loved the food and ate here twice. I would say mainly because the food was good. Our waiters were good and we got our food fast enough, but the servers seemed like they just wanted to drop the food and go. We had food slammed down on our table and the guy just abruptly left both days were there. It was 2 different guys too. Also, it was very loud in here I think because the place has nothing to absorb the sound? Other than those two things, we loved the food. So, if you aren't too worried about noisiness and can get past the the plate droppers (lol) it's good food for sure.

Mexican Food the Way it Should Be

By Rhonda K |

I was visiting in Texas over the recent holidays, and I took my son, daughter-in-law, and 10 month old grandson to Maudie's for lunch, at their suggestion. Although they were very busy, we did not have to wait long for a table. The service was good, the margaritas were great, and the food was excellent. I had a combination plate with cheese enchiladas, rice, and beans. It was delicious and was more than I could eat. It has a family friendly atmosphere, and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant for great Mexican food.

Good Tex-Mex, great happy hour.

By Gordon K |

I have eaten at Maudie's in Austin on several occasions but prefer their Bee Caves hill country location. They understand gluten free with a large selection of items to choose from on their gluten free menu. They were, unfortunately out of the gluten free chips that you can request to go with their excellent salsa. The food is excellent with the beef enchiladas being my favorite. Most establishments seem to add flour to their chile con carne sauce, Maudie's does not. One of our party had a question about the hibiscus tea and the manager was quick to appear and answer her question. Oddly the beans and rice have to be ordered separately. One of the best things about eating here is the generous happy hour. The house margarita is very good and comes in two sizes. Monday the happy hour starts at 3 pm and runs all night! I always enjoy eating here.

Excellent tex mex, great atmosphere, good service

By Idratherbnnyc65 |

The food here is excellent. We sat outside for brunch on a Sunday. I had the shrimp tacos and they were great. There is pico de pina on them which gives an added sweetness to the tacos. Would definitely get them again. We also had sopapillas which were great as well.

Never Again

By RWG2020 |

Can it be that hard to make good, or even average, Tex Mex? This was my second trip to Maudie;'s and all I can say is "Yuck". The salsa was ok but the entrees were mush, lacked flavor and a waste of good money. I wont go back a third time .

Come on Maudie'...you can do better than that!

By Batgirlcanmove |

Love the outside porches, the margarita's and sometimes the food is ....ok. But just got a take out order of Taco Salad...very busy work day. And i chomped down on a big piece of plastic in my salad. Really Maudie's? Are you so busy that you can't check for plastic pieces in your food? I can't do much about since I'm not at the restaurant. Taco Salad goes in the trash, I'm hungry, this sucks.

Love this place!

By RachelM1019 |

We love tex mex, and love Maudie's. We seriously eat here almost once a week, and the really great thing is the staff knows and remembers us. In fact if Demus is there, he remembers we like corn tortillas instead of chips and brings them to us before we ask. We also adore Monica, who always gives us excellent service. They offer the best customer service of any restaurant in that area.

Consistently Good Food & Drink

By Charles M |

We visit here several times a month with good reason, it is ALWAYS good! My wife loves the “skinny” plates and I often get the Mexican Special or Lidia's Plate. The house frozen margaritas (frozen of course) are always good. It is always busy and full of families.

Taco Cabana is better

By edcreekmore@hotmail.com |

Maudie's food tastes like something taken from a can and heated just above body temperature. It was so loud that the noise was on the threshold of pain. Fine ambiance for drunks and those with burned out taste buds.

Favorite Tex-Mex

By dnasmyth01 |

My family and I love going to Maudie's for our Tex-Mex fix. Great food and service. The queso is some of the best in Central Texas. Nice atmosphere for kids.

Always great!

By Laura M |

We’ve been going to Maudies for years and it never disappoints. Always great service. The Fajitas and fajita salad are excellent and great for take out too.

Good Tex-Mex but a confusing menu

By RogerReady3 |

We ate here for lunch in their outdoor seating area with my daughter and her two year old. First, the menu is very confusing and there seem to be a lot of plates that are very similar. And, its organization is pretty chaotic. The food is pretty good Tex-Mex fare, far too heavy, but tasty enough that you come out feeling bloated. The queso blanco ($5.75) is very good, a worthwhile starter that we gobbled up. The chips were thinner than most, but not quite up there with the best in town. The salsa was so-so, but my two-year-old granddaughter loved it and ate half a bowl full. She also loved the tortilla soup which was very tasty and a bargain at $6.50 that came in a large bowl accompanied with rice, avocado, cilantro, lime, onions etc. My chicken enchiladas with a cream poblano sauce ($9.50) were pretty good too. They came with rice and beans if you ask for them; I don't really understand that concept, the price is the same either way. My wife's cheese relleno ($9.95) was tasty but not really a relleno, just a pepper spread open and topped/filled with a lot of cheese. Rice and beans were unremarkable. The house margaritas were better than most, but still not quite what you hoped for. The large size ($8.75) comes in one of those big goblets with hugely thick glass sides that make it look like you are getting more than you actually are.

Great Fajitas! Great Service! Great Ambience!

By fred a |

My neighbor posted on FB that she was at Maudie's, and it made me so hungry for their Fajitas, so my wife and I headed there. We had the Beef fajitas for two, Great fajitas, I have had them 3-4 times and they are always fantastic! Comes with rice and refried beans and all the accoutrements. Service was so fast it was surprising. Great place, great fajita's, sometime I need to try the enchiladas, but I have trouble getting past the fajitas!

GirlfriendS Lunch

By Darlene H |

My friend and I met for lunch and we both ordered from the Lunch Menu. I chose the Lite Plate (Beef taco, guacamole, and queso over chips) and my friend had the Mexican Plate (Two Cheese Enchiladas, Chile Con Carne, Beans and Rice). The food was just ok and the service rather slow. We ate inside and asked for a booth because this very loud inside.

Love it!

By Mark N |

Love Maudie's. This is the location we go to most, but have been to others, too. Always get Breakfast tacos when I'm in the Airport, coming or going. But we have Dinner @ Galleria location often. Have never been disappointed with the food, drinks or service.

Not very good

By Rachel O |

The wait staff was the best part of this place. The food was not very good. For Tex-Mex could have been a lot better. We got Fajita's for 2 there was not very much meat. I also ordered the tomatillo avocado sauce which i love to get and I did not care for it at all here. My husband on the other hand did like that but that was it. I would not go back. But we have friends who love this place just not for me.

Gold Standard Salsa

By Dave N |

When we return to the Hill Country each year, we try to make Maudie's one of our first stops. This year was no different - the chips & salsa are our primary reason for stopping as the salsa really is the gold standard by which we measure all other salsas. I ordered a couple of Pete's Tacos & was totally satisfied; my wife's Pollo Enchilada was also extremely good. As we were getting ready to close out our bill, we asked our server if we could buy a small container of the salsa. She made us up a package of salsa & their wonderful chips. Already looking for our next trip back to Maudie's to get more salsa.

Delicious dinner

By mbrstuff |

We went to Maudie's for dinner. Food was very good. Service was solid. They have a great list of specialty drinks that were excellent. Location was nice and the outdoor seating was very pleasant. We will definitely go back. Dinner was very reasonable in price.

Great views

By pickybiz |

The restaurant offers standard Mexican fare in an impressive outdoor setting with a beautiful sunset. Service was fast and accommodating. Bathrooms could be cleaner.

Busy for a reason

By BadgerRetirees |

The night we visited Maudie's we had a short wait and after tasting the food and margaritas we could see why. We enjoyed our drinks and meals. Unfortunately on a busy nice you also have a higher noise level and rushed staff - our server didn't want to spend much time with us. The atmosphere is clean and fresh but not very Tex-Mex. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would go back again.

A Very Good Tex Mex Restaurant

By sheldon w |

Maudie's was very close to our hotel and my daughter's home so it was a natural destination. Food and drink were very good and a notch above most Tex Mex restaurants. The property featured lots of guests and noise that is typical of Mexican restaurants. Plentiful parking and nearby shopping are a plus. Overall a very good place to eat. drink, and talk with friends and family.

Decent food decently priced

By AVGTXN |

Friday night. Recommended by our hotel desk manager. The pork tacos were OK, but the outer tortilla cooled quickly. Rice and beans were average. Not bad for $9 though. My companion's salad had decent chicken but nothing more. Chips and salsa were decent. The flan was not the greatest. Service was attentive. For inexpensive Tex-Mex, you can do worse. When I'm in the area again, I'll try a different place.

Very Good Food, Okay Service, Good Prices

By BritchipKid |

The food was very flavorful, but the meat a little over cooked. The beans were excellent. The service was a little slow. Very colorful and a little tough to find.

Ted Med Lunch

By Patti W |

Best Mexican food I'd had in a long time. Definitely the best chips and salsa. Everything we ordered was great and we enjoyed the outside seating area.

More of average

By mrandmrshill |

Really wanted to like this place after having had average dinner the night before, but no luck. Wasn't aware Maudie's served TexMex food, but when we got there and found out, it was fine. We like Tex-Mex, but prefer more flavorful authentic Mexican food, and the more spicy and flavorful, the better. No luck on either account. Party of 5 adults: 3 Marfa Stacks, 1 Migas (mine) and 1 Huevos Rancheros. Can vouch for mine and one of Marfa Stacks, and both were bland and chincy with ingredients. Lots of tortilla, lots of egg, but nothing else of quantity enough to even taste. Service was average, too. Wrong type tortillas delivered, and couldn't locate anyone to change them out before meal got cold. Weren't really sure who was waiting on us; it kept changing, so we never knew who to wave down when we needed something. 4 breakfasts, no beverages: $44.00 plus tax/tip. Would we go back? Sorry, probably not.

Nice Sunday Lunch

By Susan H |

A bit crowded but fresh food and good service. NFL games on the TVs in the bar. Lots of families enjoying the patio.

While in Texas ... Tex-Mex!

By Elsie |

Great taste of Tex-Me. Good staple to have while in Austin many locations in the city also and food has a good consistency. Great environment. Great drinks here at the Bee Cave locations. Big fan of their Michelada's!

Good Basic Mexican Food

By MarkAusTx |

If you are craving good Tex-Mex food then you can’t go wrong with Maudie’s. The Hill Country location is generally crowded but you get seated quickly. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. It’s all good. And the margaritas are better than most other Tex-Mex places. I’m giving them 4 stars for really good food, but nothing great or outstanding. The serving staff is usually great, but I rate the overall experience a 4. That being said, Maudie’s is a place I frequent on a regular basis.

Disappointed

By Marilyn H |

Food was mediocre but one of the most disappointing things was what you received for the price. One of the larger meals consisted a taco and the main plate was 1 enchilada and 2/3 of the plate were chips with a little queso over it.

Gotta wear a mask... no thanks

By Trenton G |

Gotta wear a mask to be seated. Look out for the Covid zone... lol what a joke... take off the mask!

Good food

By tffarms03 |

The food is good. Tex mex - the vegetable fajitas are wonderful. It is a big place but can get very crowded. The sevice is fast and keep water and tea filled.

Great Mexican Food

By Bill |

The only thing I found to be better than the appetizers and food selection I made (cheese enchiladas) were the frozen margaritas. The outdoor dining was my favorite, although ample inside seating is available. Very convenient to The Hill Country Galleria shops off of Highway US highway 71 West.

Food, service, ambiance—all good!

By Interpreter77845 |

Took my wheelchair bound sister-in-law there for lunch last Friday as she was craving enchiladas. She was a happy camper after our food arrived. I got one taco with my enchilada which was very good. Hubby got the stuffed avocado. It was too spicy for me so glad I didn’t order it. Wait staff was efficient and the tea was good too (too early for margaritas).

Extremely disappointed!!

By ashlyep2017 |

We should have left when the salsa and queso were bad, then the margarita’s came and we definitely should have left!! $10 (each) margaritas should be good!! My husband had 1 sip and that was it! I maybe drank 1/2 mine, the food was terrible. Service was good but we will definitely not be returning!! Such a shame, the atmosphere and views were great!

Exceeds expectations

By Hank512 |

Bar service is outstanding! Richard knows all the locals and my "Stephanee Jane" shows up automatically. I am a loyal regular. The quality of the fresh meats used here is notable. The fresh sausage in the eggs is incredible! The tio chan enchiladas are my favorite( hold the ranchero sauce queso on the side, add grilled serranos) yea, i am very pickie but this joint caters to my exact specs! I allways alter the menu items and they get it right consistently! This is the best bar and tex mex place in SW austin! Hint: family friendly, if you do not have or understand kids please dine with Richard in the bar. Patio is awesome. Margs are perfect- allways get on the rocks- hand made- perfect.

Couples Date Nite

By MrsRob0320 |

Drinks @ the bar to begin the nite were quite good, & our Dinner, enchiladas, were Excellent!... Great atmosphere added much enjoyment to our nite out as well.

Maudies Bee Cave

By Ann Z |

Very disappointed. We were looking forward to sitting outside. They did not allow many people out there. So we sat inside. I know everyone is short staffed but it was terrible service. A day we were looking forward to turned out to be a sad day. Won't be going back. I wish owners of restaurants would start paying staff better instead of relying on customers to do this. If this happened they would not have such a high turnover.

Good Tex-Mex Food.

By beatstew |

Had s very good lunch today at Maudie's. We had guacamole, queso, chips, salsa and of course our meal. I had potato tacos and they were delicious. We and other tacos and a special meal bowl that was huge and looked delish. The service was great! Recommended!

Good Tex-Mex for families

By RogerReady3 |

Maudie's has good, solid Tex-Mex fare at reasonable prices. Six of us ate lunch without drinks for $66. They accommodate families and children well. It is a deceptively large place. I ate here several times before I realized there was a whole second floor. On our last visit a few weeks ago we had my 93 year old mother and my toddler granddaughter with us as well as several adults. They put us upstairs where it was quieter and less crowded. That was perfect for our group. Service was quick, attentive and willing to please. The menu is confusing in its design and content. It appears to be excessively long and complicated. It also seems to offer a lot of plates that are so similar that you have to read the descriptions several times to get the differences.
